McMillan's the number one receiver in Carolina, but I'm not convinced that that ecosystem in Carolina is going to be good enough for McMillan to vault up to JSN Pickens territory... Bryce Young has to dramatically improve.
STACKED’s take
Clear WR1 in Carolina but ecosystem limits breakout upside; foot injury a concern.
Matt Harmon ranks Terrace Marshall as the third most likely candidate (after Chris Olave and Rome Odunze) to produce a JSN or George Pickens-type breakout season. While Marshall is clearly the number one receiver in Carolina (unlike Odunze in Chicago who faces competition from DJ Moore and Colson Loveland), Harmon is not convinced Marshall's number one status will elevate him to JSN/Pickens territory due to ecosystem concerns: Bryce Young must dramatically improve, there is significant target competition (Jaylen Coker, Chris Brazell, Xavier Legette), and the team wants to be run-first. Marshall is a good player but the ceiling is capped by his surroundings. Additionally, Marshall has a foot injury that has kept him out of practice, a concern that received less attention than Odunze's foot injury in Twitter discourse.
