0:03I'm Chris Welsh. We've got Scott. Scott Bogman and Pat Fitzmaurice with us right here on the tailgate as we are going
0:10to be breaking down preseason action week two, which that means we are inching oh so closer to the start of the NFL season.
0:17Just how everybody wanted it. Wednesday night football and then Thursday night football and then the weekend.
0:22You have an entire week of football that just interjects in the middle.
0:26But this this moment of week two closing is where we get that much closer fitzy to the NFL season.
0:32I actually am not against just being done in week two, like just have two weeks of the preseason.
0:38Let's just start with the season kind of kind of hard for me to focus on the week three action.
0:44But how are we feeling? We're just so so dang close to the season.
0:48I feel like you're getting gritty Welsh. We just whittled it down from four weeks.
0:53So now we don't have the that awful week four where no one played and it was just third and fourth stringers.
1:00And but you know what? I hear you, though.
1:02I hear you. We're getting close to. And this weekend we're going to get meaningful college football.
1:07So once it's always tough to watch preseason games once there's actual meaningful football being played somewhere.

1:23What do you think is going to tell us more important storylines about the upcoming NFL season?
1:28As in this episode, we're going to be talking about the latest news, what we learned from week two and a stock watch on the players moving up.
1:37But which week do you think is going to hold a higher importance for season reactions?
1:42Maybe week three. It does seem like no one really does.
1:45Week three used to be the dress rehearsal week in the preseason.
1:49And now it's like different teams play at different ways between the three weeks.
1:53Like when they play their starters and when they just kind of mail it in.
1:58So like you can never tell and different teams seem to be handling it different ways.
2:02Whereas there was more of a fixed pattern before when we had the four week preseason, like nothing in week one, nothing
2:09in week four and two and three seem to be the interesting weeks.
2:13Now it's harder to tell. So week two, a little bit casual, maybe like how Bogman looks right now with the open shirt.
2:20And week three is like if he put one button in and he buttoned it up and like like how I'm at,
2:27like a little bit more, a little bit more on the more corporate, a little more, you know, I was a professional,
2:33but, you know, a little bit more week three.
2:36I'm a little bit of week three. You're a little bit of week two Boggs.
2:41Don't want to say professional, but that's why I said professional.
2:44Is that right? I mean, I'm going to keep calling you on this nonsense until you knock it off.
2:50I would. I would never say that. I would never say you just said it.
2:54My button. Yeah. Yeah. No, no. You, but you did just say it.
2:58Yeah. The I think Fitz is right. I think different teams do it different ways.
3:03I do think that most teams still view week three is somewhat of a dress rehearsal, not like, you know, three quarters like it used to be.
3:11But I think you might get a half of some starters, but other teams will completely ignore this.
3:17And this will be like the last week of the preseason.
3:20So I think we just really week two. We didn't see a lot that changed my opinion on things.
3:26Right. Like I think so week two is kind of the dead zone.
3:30I think week three will we will see more actionable items happen during the preseason than we had in week two.
3:36I will say like in this little homerous, but like seeing things carry over makes me feel really happy.
3:42Actually, the stock watch guy I'm going to talk about today, I think is a carry over.
3:47And what I mean is like having multiple weeks of the same type of like uptick.
3:52But the guy, the example I was going to use is like DeZhaun Stribling.
3:56Stribbling now two straight weeks. It was week one to week two.
4:00You're like, oh, every single time he's out there, it's dominant amounts of targets.
4:04They now want to get him off the field.
4:07So like seeing carry over. So I know people might be like preseason breakdowns and why are we?
4:12It's just like, well, let's look for those trends and let's see.
4:16One is cool, but two is the trend is the start of the trend.
4:20And that was something I took away from like week one to two was like Stribbling was able to continue it.
4:26And we will talk maybe about some more players that qualify for that.
4:30But let's jump into some of the latest news right here on the tailgate.
4:35And one of the biggest ones we'd actually been speculating this for weeks was Kayshaun Booty going to get traded.
4:41I had been throwing out New Orleans a whole lot because they had lost Jordan Tyson, you know, Louisiana connections and stuff like that.
4:48That had kind of been dismissed. And I think even Erickson had talked about the Patriots kind of dismissed that.
4:54But was Booty going to get traded? He had requested it.
4:57We just didn't know. Well, guess what had happened?
5:00And the Texans pulled the trigger after losing Jaden Higgins.
5:03They end up getting him for Jalen Reed and a pick.
5:06Kayshaun Booty goes to the Houston Texans where however it's going to end up, you know, whether he's going to be a
5:13true number two, it's just going to be part of that big rotation.
5:17This is not a bad destination. But what the role is ultimately going to look like if he is the true number two, maybe is a question.
5:25But Fitzy, what did you think about this trade and the overall impact of what the trade looked like?
5:31Did the Patriots get enough? And do you think Booty's a really good fit in Houston?
5:36Yeah, hopefully. I mean, I think he's going to be sort of the clear out guy and creating space underneath and maybe
5:43pulling safeties further away from the box and the line of scrimmage.
5:46And like just giving that running game more space, giving Nico Collins more space to operate underneath.
5:51I think they needed this because Tank Dell and Jalen Noel do their best work as slot guys.
5:57That really left Xavier Hutchinson as the only other viable outside receiver.
6:01And Hutchinson's just okay at best. So, plus Tank Dell coming off a major injury.
6:05Jalen Noel has had problems staying healthy. They just needed another body at wide receiver.
6:10And Booty's like he made big plays for the Patriots.
6:13Like he's quietly become a pretty good player. Boggs, what do you think?
6:17Where's the fit for Booty and what do you think about this trade?
6:21Especially, you know, someone in those streets known IDP and everything.
6:24I think the role is exactly what fits. He said is, you know, he's going to be the go long guy to
6:31clear out that space in the middle for those slot dudes.
6:34Right. And I think it's just great insurance. You lose Jaden Higgins for the year.
6:38Tank Dell is coming off a major injury. Noel can't stay on the field right now.
6:43That's been weird. We know Nico Collins has an injury history.
6:47Xavier Hutchinson has a mediocre history. So I just think it was I think it was a right move.
6:52Was it an overpay? Yeah, probably. I think Jalen Reed's going to be really good.
6:57I think it was a great acquisition by the Patriots.
7:00You know, obviously younger and on a longer contract as well and a more affordable contract, which is really nice.
7:06But I think that this is what Houston needed on the offensive side just to give themselves a little protection because they didn't have it last year.
7:14And, you know, we saw the offense just work way better once they went to Pittsburgh with Christian Kirk healthy.
7:20Right. Like once everybody was healthy and in there, they looked way, way better.
7:25So I just think this is insurance for all of the injuries that they've been going through and they've had in the past.
7:32So I think it was a smart move on both sides.
7:35Can I also throw out this actually might play?
7:38We're not talking about in this. Is this a big boost to what we should be looking at for Demario Douglas?
7:44Like Demario Douglas is kind of cleared out like he I mean, he was like a primary one of the highest primary
7:51slot running out of the slot guys last season in the NFL.
7:54And now not necessarily Boudou's and take that away, but like that's just a little bit more of a clear out.
8:01So now three wide receiver sets like pop looks like he can maybe thrive a little bit more and how people were
8:07maybe think I mean, because Romeo Dobbs is kind of a beast.
8:11So AJ Brown is obviously the beast, but like pop goes in from almost maybe being irrelevant to now looking like he's
8:18got a really like hardcore stationary role. So I think that's really interesting that the Patriots were willing to do that.
8:24And I think Demario is set up to be like in a really good space for the Patriots.
8:30I don't have his metric sitting in front of me, but I do remember seeing pop Douglas come up all the time
8:36on like those positive metrics when I was doing my research in the offseason and going, man, I wish he just had a little more playing time.
8:45You know what I mean? Or somebody to clear out underneath like AJ Brown, like Romeo Dobbs.
8:50So I think that's a great point and a good name to watch pop Douglas.
8:54Yeah, watch that pop there. Next up on the news to Sean Watson, who has done himself no favors in previous offseasons,
9:01has done himself no favors as of recent. And he finishes off after the game with a really, really bad press conference,
9:08a press conference that he would probably love to take back where, you know, he's like sitting there fixing his earring, you
9:14know, talking about how like it's so disrespectful. So disrespectful, very disrespectful.
9:18How's getting booed? And it's like, yeah, about to tell me to Sean Watson makes bad decisions.
9:23Are you? Let's not talk about disrespect in this case, but he goes on and on about him being booed, blah, blah, blah.
9:30And this was on the heels of the Cleveland Browns saying they're going to announce a court.
9:35They're starting quarterback. And they did. And it's to Sean Watson.
9:39And that has created an echo chamber of tone deaf would be the word.
9:43I think that a lot of people have said that the Browns are on bogs and he takes on to Sean Watson as a starting quarterback.
9:51Can this last for the season? I think is my big question.
9:54Or is he going to get booed out of town?
9:57I thought he was going to get cut after the after the comments, honestly.
10:02And I know his cap hits like one hundred and twenty eight million or something absurd.
10:07But I just think that that is the price you pay when you make a stupid move to go get to Sean Watson like this.
10:14Like, I just I feel like you can put up with a lot.
10:18But disrespecting the fans directly, I thought was just a bridge too far.
10:22I thought there was a chance that he was going to get cut.
10:26And not only did he not get cut, they announced him as a starter.
10:30But I think you do this if you're Todd Monken.
10:33And apparently I'm assuming ownership said, look, we're not cutting him.
10:37It doesn't matter what he said. We're spending too much money on him.
10:41We're not cutting him. So I think this is a all right.
10:44We're going to give him the first four weeks when we're one in three or oh and four, whatever we are after that.
10:51I can go to Shador for the rest of the season.
10:55We tried. We tried to Sean Watson. They got their preview.
10:58It didn't work. And that's that. So I mean, that's how I that's what I think is being done with the Sean Watson here.
11:05But I cannot believe that he is not only starting, but also wasn't cut.
11:09I know it's a ridiculous move, but I think everyone in the world understands it at this point.
11:15One thing I think that needed to be happened, and this is why he's so tone deaf, is people just want like transparency and honesty.
11:22And like he needed to be out there and just be like, listen, I get it.
11:27Like I got to work this season. I hope I'm the number one quarterback because I got to work this season to gain back everybody's trust.
11:35And I got a lot of work to do with that.
11:39That's what you needed to say. Not start throwing blame and talk how disrespectful it is to get booed.
11:44So my question to you, Fitzy, is who is more tone deaf?
11:48Deshaun Watson or the Cleveland Browns for making this move?
11:51Because on top of all those things happening with Deshaun Watson, you've got everybody that would have supported this team in cutting him.
11:58Doesn't seem like anybody wanted him regardless of the play.
12:01They wanted Shador Sanders. So who is more tone deaf?
12:04Boy, that's a crowded metal stand for that one, Welsh.
12:07I'm going to say Deshaun Watson and what you said at the top of this of wishing he could have a mulligan on that press conference.
12:15Would he? Like, I mean, he's been sort of in denial about everything the whole time and he's never to blame for anything.
12:22I think he's showing a pattern of he's apologetic once he does something wrong.
12:26And he doesn't have the foresight to see ahead to not do the thing that was wrong.
12:31So I agree with you. I don't think like he would take the press conference back.
12:36He's just like, oh, man, people didn't like that.
12:39Sorry about that. And it's like, well, you could have done the right thing before, but doing the right thing before seems to be part of the issue.
12:48Right. But I understand why they're not cutting him.
12:50I guess it's an $86 million cap head, I want to say, for this year.
12:55But this is six million. That actually I thought it was like 46.
12:59I think it's more than that. I'll double check.
13:01I got I got over the cap. I'm looking right now, but it's a lot.
13:06Either way. Yeah. So he's the walking definition of sunk cost at this point.
13:10So I feel like you just kind of look.
13:13Sorry, you're not going to play, but we're going to have you in the locker room.
13:18127. Oh, my God. Goodness gracious. That's more than like half of it.
13:2286 is next year, and that's on the void part of his contract.
13:26I would point out that is more than probably half of entire MLB team salaries.
13:30More than half of the teams in MLB are not even spinning out.
13:34That would be the cap. It's going to get close to the Brewers number.
13:39Yeah, that's that. OK, then the last thing on this.
13:42But do you think that Deshaun Watson is the best quarterback in the Browns quarterback room?
13:46No. If you know, if I'm a stakeholder in fantasy and Casey Concepcion, Denzel Boston, Harold Fannin, I want you to or
13:53Sanders is the quarterback, not not Deshaun Watson. And you know what?
13:57They open with two road games and then they come home for a week three game against the Panthers.
14:03And I think they get the Steelers in week four.
14:06I would not be shocked if it were Shadu or Sanders starting in time for that Steelers game.
14:11Like we know in the home game, maybe in that first game.
14:15Yeah. Because like we know what the fan reception is going to be with Deshaun Watson in week three, especially if he
14:21stinks it up in the first two weeks, which based on what we've seen in the preseason is is probably going to
14:28happen like the Houston Texans version of Deshaun Watson that that's gone.
14:32But there's no coming back. No, there's just this.
14:34And then the final piece, there's been a lot around Brees Hall, but Aaron Glenn said that Brees Hall is on track
14:41to play week one against the Titans. I guess that's good news.
14:45Not any big, necessarily big breakdown. Fitzy, do you think we are going to see that three RB implementation if Brees Hall is available?
14:52Do you think they're going to lean on that?
14:55Do you think if Brees Hall is active, it's going to be heavy him?
14:59Like, how do you think this is going to shake out if Brees is active for week one?
15:05I know Isaiah Davis has been banged up, too.
15:07I'm not sure what his current status is, but I would expect that we're probably going to get a pretty healthy dose
15:14of Braylon Allen in week one on top of Brees Hall.
15:17Like, hopefully he starts, gets most of the work.
15:20But I think, you know, and we've heard Aaron Glenn talk about it being a three-headed backfield anyway.
15:25So I do think we'll see quite a bit of Braylon Allen in the mix and maybe them not stressing Brees Hall,
15:32who's got a new deal and is playing. And what's going to be a, you know, a lost season for the Jets?
15:39With three draft picks, they're not incentivized to go out and try to win eight games.
15:44Bugs, do you think we might see a lot of screaming about Brees Hall, especially from fantasy owners after week one that
15:50like, let's say he's active, but then he gets like, you know, a pure like third or 40% of the touches and it's heavy Braylon.
15:58Do you think a lot of people are going to be crying about the usage and stuff?
16:03I mean, I think after week one, probably, but I've held firm to the fact that this will not be a three-headed
16:10monster this year because it can't be. Aaron Glenn is trying to keep his job.
16:14Brees Hall is the best running back by a lot.
16:17That's why they extended him. So once Brees Hall is 100%, it's going to be mainly Brees Hall.
16:23I think 75% to him, 25% split between Braylon Allen and Isaiah Davis.
16:27It won't work that way the first couple of weeks because he is coming off an injury.
16:32But Seth and I talked to Deepak Chona yesterday going over a lot of injuries and Brees Hall was kind of not even really on Deepak's radar.
16:40He said, yeah, they said two to three weeks.
16:43That's the time frame it is, you know, because he gets hurt in the preseason.
16:47There's like a 5% chance typically that they re-injure these things.
16:51Any player who's hurt in the preseason, the basic, if you recover in time and have enough time to recover, it's every
16:57week you miss in the preseason is like 5% more.
17:01So maybe he's 5%, 10% chance to get hurt again.
17:04But, you know, the first couple of weeks, maybe.
17:06But after that, it has to be Brees Hall because he's the best weapon on offense.
17:11It's going to be fun. It's going to be a fun, fun ride.
17:15I mean, you got to love it coming off of preseason, too, when our three biggest headlines are two of our three
17:22are talking about the Browns and the Jets. You know it is.

18:29We've got a couple that these guys have put together, and let's start with number one.
18:34Fitzy, I know you won't put this together. This is a macro level of looking at things around football, and then we'll
18:40be focusing on some stock watch on some players.
18:43But number one, what have we learned, Fitzy? I learned that Dante Myers of the Cincinnati Bengals is an underdog worth rooting for.
18:50And I was watching Bears Bengals last weekend, and Dante Myers was everywhere for the Bengals.
18:55He was catching passes. He was returning kicks. He was returning punts.
18:59Dante Myers had five catches for 41 yards. He had a run that picked up nine yards.
19:04He had a couple of nice punt returns, two for 34 yards.
19:07Also had two kickoff returns for 54 yards. I had to find out what this guy was all about, and the Bengals
19:14beat writer for The Athletic, Paul Daner, did a terrific story on Myers that I read while I was watching that game.
19:21So Dante Myers was a zero-star high school recruit from Atlanta.
19:24He wound up at Presbyterian College in South Carolina.
19:27It's an FCS school. Played there on an academic scholarship, not a football scholarship.
19:31Then he transfers to Delta State in Mississippi. Had a couple of pretty good seasons.
19:36Nothing that would really put him on an NFL draft radar.
19:39Then Myers had a rookie camp tryout with the hometown Falcons after college.
19:43Didn't make the cut. This was 2023. But he just refused to give up football.
19:48He kept training, supported himself by driving for DoorDash.
19:50Said he'd sometimes make deliveries until 2 or 3 in the morning.
19:54Then he'd wake up to train at 8 a.m.
19:57So Myers then goes to a tryout for the Saskatchewan Rough Riders of the CFL and had to pay $100 for the privilege of trying out.
20:05Saskatchewan gave him a futures contract for not a lot of money.
20:08That was 2024. In his first preseason game, he caught a touchdown pass.
20:12Broke his wrist and played through it. Finished the game.
20:15Ended up on the practice squad for Saskatchewan. Stayed there until late in the season.
20:20Got a promotion to the roster. Didn't do much right away.
20:23But then in 2025, Dante Myers kind of pops.
20:26Gets a bigger role. Has a 1,000-yard season as a receiver.
20:29A guy in the Bengals scouting department who monitors the CFL tells the rest of the scouting department about Myers and the team signs him.
20:37And Myers has reportedly been tearing it up in training camp, making plays every day.
20:41Now, I don't know if Dante Myers is going to make the final roster for the Bengals.
20:47They've already got a pretty good return man in Charlie Jones, who was like fourth in the league in kickoff return yardage last year.
20:54But you never know. Like maybe Myers could make the final 53.
20:57It would be great to see him at least make the practice squad so he can keep chasing the dream.
21:04I just, I love these underdog stories. Hard Knocks, the HBO series, they're with the Seahawks this summer.
21:09And they've been tracking this wide receiver. A second-year UDFA named Montori Foster Jr.
21:13He's having a really good camp. My wife watches Hard Knocks with me.
21:17She doesn't love the sport of football itself, but she loves the human element, the personalities, the team component.
21:23Most of all, she loves the Hard Knocks underdog stories, the guys fighting for a roster spot, and the drama of whether
21:30they're going to make it or not. So now she is emotionally invested in the future of Montori Foster Jr.
21:36I'm emotionally invested in the future of Dante Myers.
21:38These are great August stories. And Myers just stood out as an amazing story.
21:43What do you think the best jobs are? Like, I was thinking about this as you said that.
21:48Because there's one side of me that's thinking, like, man, DoorDash and Uber and all those.
21:53Like, they've actually killed the old Kurt Warner is a grocery bagger.
21:57And then, you know, he's bagging groceries. And then he goes and he gets a job.
22:02Like, in a good way, all those guys now have that.
22:05But, like, are we going to see the death of the amazing stories of some guy that's like, well, I was laying brick, you know, at 5 a.m.
22:13And then, you know, at 10 a.m. I was catching balls and stuff like that.
22:18Like, I don't know if we're going to have any other great, like, work stories of guys doing goofy stuff.
22:24I want, like, some serving ice cream. I was doing soft serve.
22:28And then I went out. Like, I think DoorDash just kind of killed that for a lot of guys.
22:33Montori Foster on the Seahawks, he got his real estate license.
22:37So he's, like, studying to – and he's – it's funny because they're following him on the show.
22:42And he's finding out that he has to, like, pay these – all these fees to keep the license or whatever.
22:49He's like, man, I got to start making money to cover some of these fees pretty soon.
22:54I got to sell something. That is cool. I don't know.
22:57I love that. Boggs, any – do you have a player that had a great job?
23:02I mean, Kurt Warner is the only one that comes to mind of those type of things.
23:07I'm trying to think if there's any other great ones.
23:10Yeah, I mean, not off the top of my head.
23:13But the gig economy, man, you could just sign up and go work for Uber or, you know, Postmates or any of those whatever places.
23:21The next one, it's all going to be – it's going to be two things.
23:25It's going to be that or it's going to be, like, that Indy Navarrete who it's going to be – actress.
23:32But it'll be, like, some guy is going to be trying to make a team and he's going to be a streamer
23:38and he's going to have, like, 700 subs or whatever.
23:41And it's, like, in between games he'll be streaming.
23:44Like, that is the new gig economy for the NFL.
23:47So that's a really cool story. I think a lot of people are with you, Fitzy, on whenever we can find those great stories.
23:55Hard Knocks has done a really good job of presenting some of those.
23:58You'd almost love for the NFL to do maybe a little bit more on those as well.
24:04You just presented a really good one in Dante Myers.
24:07That's a good thing that you're watching. Boggs, second up here, number two, what did we learn this week?
24:12We learned that Jack Strand is competing for the starting job in Atlanta, right?
24:17Like, Tua has been horrific. Michael Penix Jr. is not completely recovered from his ACL injury, although he's getting closer.
24:23But Jack Strand has looked great in camp. He's big, you know, 6'5", 240-pound rookie from Moorhead State.
24:28The stats last year at the FCS level were really good, 42 passing touchdowns.
24:32He did have 14 picks, but also threw for 3,500 yards, ran for five touchdowns as well.
24:38Big strapping dude, like, you know, the epitome of the body that you want for a quarterback for sure.
24:43And this reminds me a lot of the Russell Wilson situation, right?
24:47Like, Russell Wilson came in, new coach Pete Carroll, looked at Matt Flynn.
24:51They signed him to that big deal after he had one good game for the Packers where he threw five touchdowns or whatever.
24:58And then just could not beat Russell Wilson in camp.
25:01I don't think anyone's beat Jack Strand in camp right now.
25:04It doesn't mean he's going to be announced as a starter.
25:08But Stefanski today or yesterday, I believe, said that he is in the mix to win the starting job.
25:13So I think Jack Strand has a chance. And even if he doesn't win the job out of camp, I think he
25:20starts at least a game for the Falcons this year.
25:23I think this is going to be a bad year for the Falcons offense.
25:27The defense is really tough losing Jalen Walker for the year with the ACL tear.
25:32And then James Pierce, you know, being suspended eight games.
25:35That was the draft class from last year. They did it because they needed edge rusher so bad, right?
25:41So I think it's going to be a long year for Atlanta.
25:44And I think we see Jack Strand out there for at least one start.

29:05I like the number three here because going from a little bit of like what we've learned from some player focus before
29:12we get into our stock watch to kind of an overarching thing.
29:15And Fitzy, you're going to present a special teams to us.
29:19So from a macro team level, number three, what we learned is what?
29:23Yeah, that the Green Bay Packers special teams might not be a disaster for a change.
29:27And the Packers special teams have cost them so many games during the Matt LaFleur era.
29:32Over LaFleur's seven seasons in Green Bay, the Packers have never ranked better than 15th in special teams DVOA.
29:38And they've had years where they've ranked 31st and 32nd.
29:41Now, their special teams coach in recent years was Rich Bisaccia.
29:44Green Bay's special teams gaffes had become so numerous and so costly that Packers fans, they've been calling for Bisaccia's head for a long time.
29:52And I know this is a Packers fan, and I was calling for his head, too.
29:57Was he the highest paid special teams coordinator at one point, too?
30:01He may have been because he was like the Raiders interim coach for a while.
30:05My buddy CK told me this many, many times last year.
30:08Yeah, he had a good reputation and he got to Green Bay and just the special teams were terrible.
30:14And the problem was that Matt LaFleur was reportedly close with Bisaccia.
30:18They were friends. So this past offseason, Bisaccia left on his own.
30:21Or so it was reported that he himself made the decision to leave.
30:25No word on whether he was under duress, asked to leave.
30:29But the Packers new special teams coordinator, Cam Acord.
30:31He got his start in the NFL under Bill Belichick in New England.
30:35And Acord is just, by all accounts, this ball of energy in training camp.
30:40Really well prepared. It sounds like the players love him.
30:43The Packers new kicker, Trey Smack. Sixth round draft pick, I believe.
30:46Cannon for a leg. And I guess he got off to kind of a shaky start in training camp.
30:52But he has been money in the preseason. He's kicked a couple of 58 yarders.
30:57The return game looks pretty good with Sky Moore and Pierre Strong Jr.
31:01Kick coverage has looked a lot better. Like, special teams have been a problem for Green Bay for so long.
31:07They lost a game to the Bears late last season because they couldn't field an onside kick.
31:12They memorably lost, this was pre-Bisaccia, but they lost an NFC Championship game in Seattle because they couldn't cover an onside kick.
31:19Green Bay Packers long special teams nightmare. I don't want to jinx it, but it might finally be over.
31:24So is the macro point here, because only Fitzy could make special teams sound this interesting and make it a what we learned.
31:31But for you, is that the special teams adjustment maybe a game changer on who the Packers are this year?
31:37Because obviously they made big defensive plays. You know, they've got a strong offense.
31:42Is this like the missing link, the last infinity stone for the gauntlet to be unleashed for the Packers this season is maybe crazy as it sounds.
31:50It's a big part of the game and it's a big edge.
31:54Like when we, when I do the betting, betting pro shows with Matt Peralt every week, like I'm looking at special teams
32:00DVOA and like, who's got the, you know, who are the sneaky good special teams and who's bad.
32:06And sometimes it's not who you'd expect. I think the Jets last year, maybe it was two years ago with Chris Banjo,
32:12a former Green Bay Packers special teams player. Like he had turned into a really good special teams coach.
32:18And even though the Jets stunk everywhere else, their special teams were terrific.
32:22So it can give you a little bit of an edge.
32:25It didn't give the Jets an edge, but like that's, that's the hidden, the hidden edge in, in betting sometimes and just overall winning games.
32:33I think it's like a quarter of games finished within three points.
32:37So having a better kicker, one that can make their field goals specifically late in the season.
32:42We'll see about that. And it has the name of Smack, by the way.
32:46Great name. Yeah. Better than, I feel like there was a kicker a couple of years ago named Blewett.
32:52There was a closer for sure named Blewett, a relief pitcher in MLB named Blewett.
32:56So that's like, just have your name change to save it.
33:00Right? Like, well, in baseball, but this is like, I mean, make it a kicker named Smack.
33:05Like what could you just have like Richard Bigfoot?
33:08Like that would be the only other like big, great name.
33:11It's an all time name. It's an incredible one.
33:14This final piece would be a lot of that.
33:16I didn't think of the Richards. I just clicked with me.
33:20That's the name. Robert, Robert Bigfoot. Maybe. Jonathan Bigfoot, whatever.
33:23Either one of those would work. Maybe not what I said.
33:26The final one is one for both of you guys.
33:29Fitzy put this on here and I think it's a really, really great one.
33:33And number four is Tyrone Tracy. And the note here is Tyrone Tracy has no future for the Giants.
33:39It has been a bad run after bad run, whether it's pass blocking issues.
33:43Obviously, Najee Harris has put kind of a hyper focus on this.
33:47But Fitzy put this on here. I want to start with you, Boggs.
33:51And we'll go to Fitzy. Do you buy that Tyrone Tracy has no future with this team after the signing and how the preseason is gone?
33:59Because I think this is a very valid takeaway from the second preseason week.
34:03Yeah. I mean, look, Debro was harping on it last week, right?
34:07On this show, on the tailgate, about how Tyrone Tracy whiffed that block.
34:11That's why they went out and got Najee, you know, and traded for Lay Lay.
34:15Both of them whiffed on that block that got Jackson Dart killed.
34:19So I do think, you know, when you have Scadaboo, you have Devin Singletary.
34:23And it seemed like, you know, you have one of the better running back rooms in the league and then you go out and get Najee.
34:31Well, it tells me one of two things. It tells me someone's getting cut and it's either Singletary or Tracy.
34:37And, you know, Scadaboo's not absolutely 100%. Now, neither does Najee.
34:41He's coming off a torn Achilles as well. But I think I agree with this.
34:45I think Tyrone Tracy is probably gone. He'll definitely latch on with another team before the season starts.
34:51But, yeah, I think his days are numbered for the New York Giants.
34:55What was the moment that you realized Tyrone Tracy was not long for the Giants anymore?
34:59Was it the signing of Najee Harris? Was it him getting blown up?
35:03Like, when did this realization hit in week two?
35:06In the game against the Dolphins Saturday, when Devin Singletary was at running back for all eight snaps that Jameis Winston played,
35:13he was the starting quarterback for the Giants. And so, like, eight games for the—or eight snaps for the starters.
35:19And then Singletary leaves and Tyrone Tracy enters the game later.
35:22So, Tracy clearly behind Najee Harris and Devin Singletary.
35:25And I don't think the Giants keep three running backs, barring some sort of injury.
35:29But what's weird is that Welsh, I mean, Tyrone Tracy has had more than 1,000 yards from scrimmage each of his first two NFL seasons.
35:37He's got 38 catches as a rookie, 36 catches last year.
35:40He came into the league as an older prospect, so he's going to be 27 in November.
35:46I guess, like, he's probably at the ceiling. But, man, I mean, this new regime, John Harbaugh, just—they are not going to
35:52let a mistake like nearly getting Jackson Dart killed— clearly holding it against Tyrone Tracy.
35:57And I would imagine, like, he would not be on the open market for very long.
36:02There are teams that would need his services. Maybe someone like the Raiders, who all of a sudden were just, for a
36:08few anxious moments, looking at having rookie Mike Washington be their lead running back.
36:13I think it seemed like the 49ers could as well.
36:16They've been just, like— Yes. All throughout the preseason, they've just been looking at different running backs and trying them out.
36:22And, you know, they just made a move off of—I think it was White.
36:26But, you know, they might bring in someone like that, like with Cam Black and him kind of competing with Jordan James.
36:33I don't know if they would go that way, but to your major point, there's a multitude of teams that would look at him.
36:40But it doesn't look like Tyrone Tracy is going to play a predominant role with the Giants this year, whether he's moved
36:47on in the preseason or it happens earlier on.
36:50Going to go to Washington, throw a wrench into that whole situation.
36:53I mean, the worst-case scenario would be like, yeah, like a dicey running back group or something like that.
36:59I mean, if you're trying to project and you're trying to, like, look at it for fantasy.
37:04We're going to—talking about players here, that's a little stock down for a player.
37:08We are going to talk about some stock ups.

37:54buy into on some of these performances. But let's do a little stock look here.
37:58And Pat, you picked the guy that I had last week.
38:02But as I said earlier in the show, how many players have we seen carry over week in and week out?
38:08So your stock up is Dijon Stribling. So he is back into this.
38:12So talk to us about what this second week did for you to continue this rise.
38:17We had just did an episode, by the way, on Fantasy Pros, where we look in real time ADP.
38:23He has moved in as a top 100 player, 98th off the board.
38:27So I know real NFL fans, you probably dabble.
38:29I would imagine the majority of the people here are crossovers to the fantasy side.
38:34But to understand the rise that Dijon Stribling has had, that he is now 98th overall, the 40th wide receiver going off
38:41in the fantasy streets is a crazy, crazy big jump.
38:44And the last two weeks have helped. So Fitzy, we just talked about this with Stribling.
38:48So break down the stock up in your eyes of Dijon Stribling.
38:52Yeah, four catches for 46 yards on five targets in preseason week two.
38:56I now believe he's got something like 10 catches in approximately 20 minutes of preseason game action.
39:01He's big, he's fast, he is hard to tackle, and he has hands like suction cups.
39:06Like the ball just sticks. It looks like Spider-Man snaring these passes in the preseason.
39:11I mean, he just, he looks like he belongs.
39:13It was funny that there was all the hullabaloo about where he was drafted at the first, the top of round two,
39:20first pick of day two of the NFL draft.
39:23Everyone thought the 49ers reached. And like, he now looks like he was underdrafted as the first pick of day two.
39:29Like he has just been that good. Now we've talked about it on the other show, Welsh.
39:34Like, is there going to be room for Stribling to contribute with Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel, George Kale, Christian McCaffrey?
39:40Maybe not, but boy, I mean, like all those guys are 30 or older.
39:45Like this could be the dose of dynamism that the 49ers were maybe hoping they were going to get from Ricky Pearsall before he came up lame.
39:53So, man, I mean, this guy is so intriguing.
39:56He blocks, like he might be, he might be their new brand in Ayuk.
40:00Can I ask you, was, was it the move from week one into week two that, that really did change your mind?
40:06Because obviously this had been buzzing and there's so much buzz about it, but like, was it seeing it happen again?
40:13Because it was a much, like, much bigger in our face off of week one, but then week two happened again and
40:20it was like, here we go, right off the top, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop.
40:24So was it seeing it over multiple weeks or was there something more in week two that made you jump more than week one?
40:31Just that it seems like their whole MO, because he's, he's the only guy playing.
40:36We're not seeing any of these other starters play.
40:39And it seems like the focal point of those drives is like, hey, let's get this kid the ball and see what he can do.
40:46Let's get him targets and see what he can do.
40:49First week, like, oh, he did pretty well. Second week works again.
40:53I mean, it's just like working splendidly, making this guy the focal point of their passing game.
40:58Granted for really small doses of these two games, but man, he's passed every test so far.
41:03Dude, he's our, what's that game on Price is Right?
41:06The yodeler? They just, they continue going up. Like every episode, he just, he continues, he's our yodeler for the season.
41:13I'm not the only one with that reference, Fitz.
41:15I said this on the Dynasty pod a bunch of times.
41:19And Worm was like, you know, you've said this three times.
41:22I didn't realize I've said it this many times, but I've used that one a bunch.
41:27Ryan Wormway has no idea what you're talking about when you make a yodeler offense.
41:32He doesn't even know what the yodeler is? Young man.
41:35Oh, man. Young man. He had the internet when he stayed home from school.
41:39The Price is Right. I was about to say, like, your life in calling out sick or something like that, or being
41:45out, you know, school sick was you just sit on the couch and you watch Price is Right and you pick your
41:52favorite games and yodeler was always great. And that's a Sean Shribling.
41:56I thought Shribling, like, you know, I agree with you guys.
41:59Like the stock has to be raised. I'm still somewhat skeptical on his performance early in the season.
42:05I think Kittle's going to be back. Mike Evans is going to be back.
42:09CMC is your number one seed in terms of touches.
42:12So I do question his, you know, fantasy value.
42:15I thought he was brought in more for special teams and to block and learn.
42:19So I think what we're seeing is surprising in that there's a lot of guys that pop in camp and then don't do anything in the games.
42:27And he's done both. So it's really, really a good offseason here.
42:31Preseason for Shribling. Interesting one for you for your spotlight on the stock watch here.
42:36You've got a running back who had some heavy usage, but there's been a lot of questions about who the number two
42:42for this team is going to be. So stock watch is who?
42:46Jaden Blue. Hook him, by the way. I think you guys took the two most pertinent names on this.
42:52We already talked about Jack Strand a little bit earlier.
42:55So I really, you know, it was hard for me to find another guy here, but they did let Jaden Blue run.
43:01Right. And I think this was kind of a test.
43:04If should anything happen to Javante Williams, is Jaden Blue a guy that can handle the ball more than 10 times a game?
43:11So they gave him 15 carries. He had 75 yards, a lot of praise heaped upon him from Brian Schottenheimer as well.
43:18He said there's night and day improvement in his approach and his growth from last year.
43:23He said there was a turning point at some point in the offseason where Jaden Blue has looked like a completely better player.
43:30His football intelligence has been described as off the charts.
43:33So it's just all this praise on Jaden Blue.
43:36And he still might not be the number two.
43:38It might still be Malik Davis there. But that's where I was going to go is that's kind of the narrative right
43:45now is that like no one like they didn't want to hand him that job and Malik's, you know, ability for pass
43:52blocking, like could keep him away for it. So I think on a game to game basis, it will be Malik Davis as the two.
43:59But I think if anything happens to Javante, I think that is when Jaden Blue would step up.
44:05That's interesting because I kind of you and I had a like a pick on fight about the Katron Allen where like
44:12you saw Katron Allen get all the carries. And I talked about it was one of the most inefficient, like technical, like
44:18preseason outings of how inefficient he was with those injuries.
44:21You see in the preseason injuries. Right. But to me, it's like what is the battle between the volume you see from
44:28guys that are in the vicinity of a battle versus like what the production actually means?
44:33Like, you know, because sometimes volume in preseason is actually not good.
44:36It's not good. Yeah, yeah, I understand that. But I think that those two guys in particular, like Blue's not getting cut.
44:43So you give him a bunch of touches to test him.
44:46I think it's the same thing with Katron Allen.
44:49I don't think Katron Allen's getting cut. I would say it's more likely that Katron gets cut and Jaden Blue gets cut.
44:56Jaden Blue's already made it a year. Right. So and he was bad last year.
45:00So to make it this year when he didn't have a good season as a rookie, I think means a little bit
45:07more than it does for Katron Allen. But I do think that I just I think the opportunity is obviously better in
45:14Washington because they don't have a really good back.
45:17I don't think Corey Krosky merits very good. I don't think Rashad White is a guy that you want being a three down back.
45:24I think he's a role player. So the ultimate answer for Washington might be a running back next season in the draft or a free agent or something.
45:32But I think that Jaden Blue might be the handcuff for Javante should something go down.
45:37But like you said, on a game to game basis, I think Davis is the number two.
45:42Fritz, what do you think about Jaden Blue here?
45:45And also curious at your take on like when you do see the volume of guys like Allen and Blue, like that
45:52doesn't necessarily mean it's a great thing. But Blue was efficient.
45:55You have any thoughts on this one? Yeah, I agree with that.
45:59Volume can be kind of a negative thing. It's interesting.
46:02I feel like they're sort of, they want to see both of these guys.
46:06I feel like they view it as an open competition because didn't Blue play ahead of Malik Davis in preseason week one?
46:13But in week two, I think it was Davis in before Blue.
46:16Was it not? That's right. Yeah. Yeah. So, which I don't necessarily see as any sort of shift in the pecking order.
46:23I just think that these guys are maybe sort of like 2A and 2B.
46:27So the final one here, this is my guy.
46:30And as you mentioned, if you're looking at a couple players, one of the players you're probably going to think of is Mike Washington.
46:37And I actually would take out, I thought this was the pertinent guy before the weird injury thing that happened.
46:43So obviously we didn't even mention this at the top.
46:46This is actually kind of my mistake here. One of the biggest stories out there, but it's, we all breathe this sigh of relief is Ashton Gentry.
46:55Ashton Gentry got rolled up earlier in the week and he had to be, it wasn't carted out, but I think he couldn't put pressure on it.
47:03There was like a six hour period where dynasty owners were just like, you thought they were Wall Street.
47:09Like they're trying to make stock deals. Like Ashton Gentry deals.
47:12I'm doing the flex draft, right? And it's a slow draft on MFL.
47:16And I had Mike Washington on my board and then Woody Marks below him and all of that for my like auto pick.
47:23Like I cued it. And you know, I took Mike Washington.
47:26I think this happened like an hour after the Gentry injury.
47:30And the guy picking behind me had Gentry. And Jake texts me.
47:33He's like, was that really your pick? Like, are you really going to take Mike Washington?
47:38Because the guy behind you took Gentry and I thought it was going to be fair.
47:43And I was like, I mean, that was my guy, you know?
47:47So, uh, it's just very, very strange there that it all happened.
47:50And I got that text. Well, and there was a period of time where it was like, you saw in some drafts,
47:57Gentry was falling to the sixth round. Mike Washington was going as high as the third round.
48:02Uh, people are worried. We might've lost a Gentry for the season.
48:06Then we get a little bit of a sigh of relief where it's an ankle sprain.
48:11It's not a torn ACL. It's none of that stuff.
48:14There, there were, you know, just absolute garbage bait accounts that are just like my sources tell me.
48:19And it's like, yeah, your sources, you mean the clicks that you're trying to get to get paid on social media.
48:25Got it. Um, there was no reality to any of that ankle sprain now ankle sprains.
48:30We have not heard the severity because a high ankle sprain could have him maybe miss a month of the season.
48:37Uh, low ankle sprains. He could be available for week one where we're sitting at is recording this episode.
48:42And that's why I forgot to put it at the very top is that there is a hope that he's going to
48:49play for week one, but this all comes back to Mike Washington because obviously Mike Washington, he raised in just everybody's perception,
48:56but it is now two straight weeks where he has looked phenomenal and he looks explosive.
49:01He was averaging over six yards per carry in this game on, uh, this weekend, nine for 56.
49:06So you saw him get a little bit of volume in there.
49:10He continues to show really, really incredible breakaway speed.
49:13Now I don't think nor do is it really look like a guy that you're going to give like a predominant amount of carry.
49:20So like if even in a scenario where a guy like Ashton Gentry is gone, if that were to happen, I'm not
49:27even sure they would feel comfortable or wanting Mike Washington to get the brunt of all of it.
49:32But he looks like a guy. If you give him 15 touches, he, you are guaranteed a big explosive breakaway.
49:38He just looks great in the open field. So regardless of Gentry or not, uh, Mike Washington got a lot of people's
49:45attention the previous week and he's doing it again and he just keeps making those big plays.
49:50So I think our perception of him and what he can be continues to move up.
49:55Fitzy, I ask you, do you think there's a scenario where Gentry already got kind of banged up?
50:00He gets back. How good Mike Washington is. Could Mike Washington be forcing a hand that they want to get him more involved?
50:07I don't know what that ends up looking like.
50:10Maybe it's nothing more than a Keaton Mitchell in previous years with like the Ravens or something like that.
50:16Or could it be something where they're like, we got to get this guy 10 touches per game in some way because his stock is moving up.
50:24And I think that's at least got to be in the conversation.
50:28I think they have to like what they see and feel justified that they spent what fourth round draft capital on him.
50:34But there is a reason that a guy with the size speed profile of Mike Washington fell into day three of the draft.
50:41Like he didn't really pop until he was a fifth year senior at Arkansas after being at some lesser schools.
50:47Doesn't have really good advanced metrics in college. Like his missed tackles forced rate was pretty terrible.
50:52His fumble rate was kind of concerningly high. Just like doesn't always take on contact the way you'd like to see a bigger back do.
51:00He has looked undeniably good early in the preseason, albeit going against, you know, some backup defenders and vanilla defenses.
51:06So but again, like you can only pass the tests that are given to you.
51:11And he has done that so far. So maybe he is forcing that.
51:15I just I think now maybe they just view him like, yeah, he's clearly our number two.
51:20He's earned that whether they feel the need to get him 10 touches a game.
51:24I don't know if it's to that point yet.
51:27Yeah. Arbitrary number of something out there. But Boggs, what do you think about Washington?
51:32You can speak on the potential touches per game.
51:34They don't want to get him usage or they just feel comfortable.
51:38They got a guy no matter how you chalk it up.
51:41Yeah. Stock is up. But it's like what level is probably, you know, that's the optional one.
51:47The clear handcuff to Ashton Gentry now. Right. Like in Dylan lobbies look good, too.
51:51Like now that you have a coach that actually knows how to use a guy like Dylan lobby.
51:57I feel like he's a great in the preseason as well.
52:00So I do think if if Gentry was out longer than we expected at this point, because, you know, and I hate the vagueness of this.
52:08But they said, yeah, the ankle sprain is more low than high, like whatever that means.
52:13So thanks for the clarity there. Clears mud. So just kind of dumb.
52:17But I think the reason we were disappointed that Mike Washington landed in Vegas is because Ashton Gentry was top 10 in
52:23touches as a rookie last year behind a line that was bad.
52:27Like you don't want to keep giving Gentry touches, but they had to because the quarterback situation was so bad.
52:33So I still think it's, you know, Gentry by a mile over anybody else on this team.
52:38But I do think that Mike Washington has proven himself and he has given us the absolute handcuff for Gentry here.
52:45I think maybe it was a little bit of a question before that and probably going to be more 50 50.
52:51But I think should Gentry be out of the picture on a week to week basis?
52:56I think it'd be 75 25 Washington and lobby.
52:59So I think that Washington has made himself a nice handcuff here.
