0:00Let's rank a whole bunch of tight ends.
0:02I mean, it feels like every single year we can have a massive discussion about this position, not just in fantasy, but
0:08real football. I mean, it's a massive impact across the league right now. You saw that in free agency. The draft really bore that out. I mean, we might
0:16be talking about Hayden about eight teams last season being very comfortable using two and three tight end sets to what half the league 20 teams at this
0:24point after >> uh all these teams added new players to the roster. So, just big picture question here. Does that alter your
0:30approach to drafting this position this year?
0:32>> It does. We have some rookies that are going to get involved here which is going to increase just like the
0:36personnel stuff. I think what ends up happening is just like the wide receivers and like the middle part of the uh fantasy drafts just project worse
0:44that all of a sudden like you're looking at a tight end projection and a wide receiver projection in round 10 and it's
0:49like oh like the tight end's like gonna have more yards this year. So I think that's where it comes. It's like at the
0:53expense not that a bunch of tight ends are like scoring more points u by themselves. It's more just that the other positions are now hurt because the
1:01tight end two on a team is scoring at the expense of the wide receiver three on a team. So I think that those are
1:07kind of minor adjustments um I felt and I think also for this year a lot of really really good promising young tight
1:14ends about to break out. So we've kind of gone away from the Kelsey and KDles finally after like what a full decade of
1:20those guys. Now we got the next tier Bowers McBride uh Lovelin some others.
1:25Um and I'm pretty excited about those guys. Yeah, but the kiddo Kelsey's uh let's use the word. They're holding on definitely around, you know, Titan nine
1:33to Titan 12 territory. We'll talk about them today. Yeah, just from a strategy perspective, I look back at how I drafted this position last year. And if
1:41I didn't get, you know, Trey McBride and George KD in like that round two through four territory, then I was willing to
1:48wait on, you know, Tyler Warren who's being drafted as tight end seven or Tucker Craft being drafted as Titan 11.
1:53And I missed out on all of those. Then you and I, especially from a baseball perspective, really love to Dr. Franken
2:00sign the position anywhere from, you know, round 14 through round 18, drafting three of those guys and just hoping for touchdowns because that
2:07matters so much for the spot. I've been doing that kind of more and more this year. I don't love all these late round
2:14tight ends like I did last offseason.
2:16So, we'll definitely talk about that throughout the summer and obviously in this episode, too.
2:19>> Yeah. On that, I'm doing something I've never really done before. I like two tight ends, not all the way early, but
2:26this late round tight end strategy that I've adopted for the literally the last five years of doing the show with you,
2:31right?
2:31>> This is the first year where I feel really good about like the top nine tight ends and I'm just kind of getting
2:38two of those guys and then kind of stopping there sometimes adding on a third tight end. But just all these young guys like Kyle Pittz, like all
2:46these guys in the top 10 that we'll talk about today, they have tons of upside and right now their price tag isn't
2:51isn't too crazy. This is going to be a conversation all summer. You know, heavy personnel looks and it's not just tight
2:56ends, it's fullbacks on the field, too.
2:57So, buckle in. We'll talk about it again all summer long. Okay, let's rank these guys. Your tight end one this year is
3:05Brock Bowers with Clint Kubak being his new play caller with the Las Vegas Raiders. Just how high is his ceiling this year?
3:13>> I think that he can threaten for the tight end's target record. I feel like we're having like these crazy um upside
3:18cases with him. Like we just saw this with obviously Jackson Smith and Jigba with this OC. It's not going to be just
3:24as clean as that was for JSN last year, but Brock Bowers, we know he's amazing.
3:28He is one of the best tight end prospects ever. And then through the first two seasons here, he's averaging 64 yards per game despite having an
3:37entire season where he's battling that crazy knee injury. That's the most yards per game of any tight end in the first
3:43two seasons since at least uh 2000. The five closest comps for them are KD, Shocki, Gronk, Jimmy Graham, Aaron Hernandez. Uh all five of those guys uh
3:54had a better third season than their first two seasons. And then if you go all the way down to the 13th closest
3:58comparisons, you're adding like seven yards per game in that third season. So Brock Bowers, I think baseline assumption here is like 70 80 yards per
4:07game here. He's going to be a target hog. They got worse at wide receiver.
4:10The defense is still mediocre. And then the quarterback play is obviously way better. Clinton Kubak is gonna be way better than Chip Kelly. So, I have no
4:17bad things to say about Brock Bowers right now.
4:19>> Yeah, typically we quickly go through these top names. I feel like it's really important to go in depth on these top
4:25names at tight end because you're selecting them around wide receivers and running backs. And Brock Powers is going later than he did this time last year. I
4:33mean, he was what the around 18th, 17th overall pick this time, maybe even 15th in some drafts. Uh right now on
4:39Underdog, he's the 21st overall player.
4:42And that's after, you know, the second best tight end fantasy rookie season of all time. We know last season early on
4:49he just got injured. He got banged up and that carried with him all season long on a miserable offense that didn't
4:55know who they were and fired their offensive coordinator. And now we're coming from a play caller in Clint Kubak that just jettisoned JSN to one of the
5:04elite receiving options across the league. You look at the wide receiver room in Las Vegas and I can't tell you if one of those guys is going to make
5:12that significant jump and you ask yourself who the best pass catcher is in this offense and it is Brock Powers and
5:18that's associated to Kurt Cousins who again launched Kyle Pittz into top tight end status in multiple games last year.
5:25Uh and then Fernando Mendoza is just the number one overall pick. So Brock Bowers, I am perfectly happy to actually take him a couple spots ahead of ADP
5:32this year if I feel like.
5:33>> Yeah, we're we're on the same page here right now. I feel like the underdog projections, they have season long projections right now, feel a little
5:39light. He's at 899 receiving yards, five and a half touchdowns. Obviously, when you're uh dealing with the Raiders, they're projected for like no points
5:47this year, like bottom five as expected.
5:50Uh but I think Brock Bower is just going to rack up these receptions like the entire season long. It's going to get
5:56crazy here. So, I think anywhere in the second round is totally fine with me. As with all these guys, in full PPR
6:02reddraft where you're forced to pick the tight ends, they're even more valuable than in uh best baseball where tight ends are going up and down just based
6:09off of touchdowns where you just want to ride the wave of of best and seasonl long reraft. I mean, Brock Bowers could
6:14be the 12th overall pick. I wouldn't blink an eye at it.
6:16>> I think he also has the best potential to reach a 20 or 30 point point than almost any other tight end that we're
6:22about to talk about here. Okay, let's get to your tight end two and that is Trey McBride with the Arizona Cardinals.
6:29ran 121 more routes in the next closest tight end last year. We know when Kyler Murray exited the starting lineup, the
6:36red zone, the end zone really opened up.
6:39Uh I think there's a conversation to be had about Trey McBride because he was the titan one overall last year and now
6:44being drafted as the tight end two around 24th or 25th overall.
6:49>> I mean, he smashed last year. It was like nobody was even close. Even Brock Bowers was in a different tier than Trey
6:54McBride. Uh that's 14.9 points per game.
6:5873 yards per game, which is pretty much the same thing I'm kind of expecting Brock Bowers to have this season. He was
7:0419th overall in fantasy points over placement per game in half PPR. In full PPR, he was worth a first round pick
7:11this last season. Now, uh I understand the splits with Jacobe uh Brassette and Kyler Murray. That's 81 yards per game with Jacobe, 55 yards per game with
7:20Kyler Murray. Uh by the way, I have an awesome onoff splits on the upcoming website. You guys are going to love it.
7:25Um that's where I pulled that information from. But I don't think that the split from Kyler to Jacobe is immediately just going to copy paste
7:32into this next season. We have a new head coach who I think is going to be even more disciplined running the ball
7:37trying to keep a balanced offense.
7:39That's even more so when you have Jeremiah Love, the running back being selected third overall. Uh also Marvin Harrison was missing time when Trey
7:47McBride was really popping off. Uh and he's going into his third season. So, I would not be surprised if last year was
7:53the Trey McBride like peak season and then he's going to be like, you know, 10% 20% worse from that. Even if he is
8:00that, which is my baseline assumption, two three turn is like totally fine for Trey McBride. So, I think there's uh maybe one tier above that Brock Bowers
8:08can reach that Trey McBride can't reach just based off the team environment around him. Uh but I have no bad notes
8:14to say about Trey McBride. He's probably my favorite tight end to watch uh just on Sundays.
8:18>> Sound ridiculous to people. I wish we knew that Jacob Brassette was going to be Trent McBride's quarterback for 17 weeks. Uh cuz I know what that
8:26connection is like. I would feel actually a little bit less confident if it's Gardner Menchu Carson Beck. And I know people don't, you know, picture and
8:34assume that Jacob Brousette is a great starting quarterback and they would be correct. But from a fantasy lens, he rifles it in there in tight coverage and
8:41he's willing to make big time throws down the field. Now, there's also this conversation last year that it was all garbage time and they were trailing a
8:49lot of games. Sure, part of it. I mean, Jacobe threw 2,300 yards, 13 touchdowns when they were trailing on the scoreboard, but you look at it when they
8:56were leading, he also threw 10 touchdowns. Uh, so this connection, I think, is fantastic. When we are recording this, Jacob Brasset is holding
9:04out, which is kind of a slap to the face of the Arizona Cardinal when that's your starting quarterback and he's holding
9:10out there for more money. But Jacobe, get your bags, man. And uh we need you to throw many many more touchdowns here
9:15for Trend Brack.
9:15>> Yeah, I think it's a good point talking about the other quarterbacks. Right now underdog uh the pick them lobby Carson
9:20Beck has 4.5 for his higher lower lower on regular uh season games started. I was not a big fan of the Beck tape
9:28watching it reminded me of like the broken down Carson Wentz um film. So that's where I think the quarterback play can like take a huge step back this
9:37year versus what we had with Trey McBride. while his environment around him, there's even more target competition. So, I think that's why uh
9:44Bower is ahead of Trey McBride this year.
9:46>> These two players are about four or five picks difference. Do you think that gap is correct?
9:53>> I mean, yeah, Bowowers is the one that's in front of McBride. That's just like not usually the case. Um um they're
9:59they're very close. Like you can make a very strong uh case either way here. Um Amish on team Bowers is here.
10:05>> Okay, I bring that up because we're going to keep him in this top tier.
10:08Coulson Love Lovelin though is your tight end three and in drafts right now over an underdog which by the way you
10:13can do all summer long even at this moment. Click the link in the description and start drafting right now. Uh that's a 20 pick gap. He's being
10:20selected around the 46th overall pick.
10:22So you and I were big Coulson Lovelin guys heading into the NFL. We know that he was eased in coming off a labram
10:30surgery until about week seven. But man from week seven to 17 he was the tight end six in points per game.
10:36>> He was just so dang good. But it was from yeah week eight he played 75% snaps for the first time from that point all
10:42the way through the NFL playoffs. And I like to count NFL playoff stats because you know these teams are trying to win
10:46football games. Uh and they're acrewing fantasy points. We just don't see him uh in our fantasy lineups. He averaged 64 yards per game. He was a tight end four
10:54per game on tight end three expected fantasy points. His best games were uh in the the playoffs as well. The last
11:02four games of the season for him. 97 yards per game. Remember he did that he was 21 years old. 21. I mean we're
11:09talking about a total freakazoid here.
11:11He moved like a wide receiver at Michigan and they would like keep him like as a like a legit boundary wide
11:17receiver and they would do that at times on the Chicago Bears and he just ran away with it. And then since he had
11:23these crazy numbers at the end of the season, you can see that on the chart up there on the top right. Uh you know the
11:28Bears traded away DJ Moore. They replaced him with Khalif Raymond. So uh Caleb's going to get better. Ben Johnson's going to the second year uh in
11:36this scheme as well. They drafted Coulson Lovelin inside the top 10. Uh I want Coulson Lovelin uh to lead the Bears in receiving in all categories
11:44just like he did this past season. I think that he has a chance to be an allp procure player as soon as this season.
11:50>> I'm not mistaken. I I believe the team that led the NFL in percent of their snaps in 12 personnel was around 44%. I
11:58mean, the drop down from DJ Moore to now Khif Raymond or Scotty Miller or Xavon Thomas as this team's third wide
12:06receiver is gigantic, right? So, >> with how Coulson Loveland moves, we talk about, you know, the slot receiver test all the time, the wide receiver test all
12:16the time here with tight ends. He passes that with flying colors. And then you add on the fact that they also drafted a
12:22tight end on day three for my buddy Ryan Heath, who we'll have on the program this summer. When the Bears had three
12:28tight ends on the field last year, Coulson Lovelin averaged an absurd 4.66 yards per route run and 53% receiving yards market share for his
12:38>> because he's a wide receiver. He's a tight end, but he's actually he's a wide receiver. He would pass the boundary
12:42wide receiver test. We don't talk about that one. That's how good he is. So, I guess my question is if people are
12:48waiting to draft him until the 46th overall pick, where would you be willing to draft Coulson Loveland right now?
12:54>> Yeah, I think like late round three, early round four is kind of where I have him ranked. Overall, I just wanted to
13:00point this out. Underdog projections, he's at 875 yards, 6 and a half touchdowns. By the way, Brock Bowers, who we just like gloat about forever, uh
13:08$8.99, 5 a.5, almost the exact same projections right now between Bowers, McBride, and Coloulston Lovelin. So, we have this ride that this is a big three.
13:19You have to rank Coloulston Lovelin the the lowest because he's done it the fewest amount of games. But, it would not be surprised if this year's Trey
13:27McBride is uh a Coulson Love.
13:30>> Okay. I might pitch you as the summer goes along to make it a big four tight ends because I think Tyler Warren is in
13:38store for an outstanding season if Daniel Jones makes it to week one through week 18. All right. I mean, he has the sixth most half PPR fantasy
13:47points ever by a rookie tight end. He was the tight end three in route participation last year, just around 84%. uh the final five games it's also
13:56remember or with Riley Leonard and Philip Rivers throwing passes when like Coulson Lovelin was going off that's who Tyler Warren was catching passes from so
14:05he didn't have that same chance of you know really ascending uh and then they got rid of Michael Pitman and didn't
14:11replace him basically at all. So I think talking about target concentration Tyler Warren should only take a step up there in year two.
14:19>> Yeah, he he looks really good on paper right here and those splits you talked about are just so drastic. So in the
14:24first 13 games when Daniel Jones was healthy, he was a tight end six on tight end three usage there averaging 54 yards
14:30per game. After that it was just 30 yards per game and then even like the the Daniel the end of the Daniel Jones
14:36starts when he was dealing with that fractured leg, it fell off there. So if you only looking at like the top like
14:41the first what eight games of the season, he was like one of the guys that you absolutely needed and that's kind of
14:46where I have him ranked as like more of like the Daniel Jones stuff. Now, with Jones's injury, it's not just the torn
14:53lat. It's also to his back foot. And if you listen to like just uh um player or people associated with the NFL covering
15:01injuries, that's the plant uh foot. And like if your leg doesn't have has some a uh some atrophy and it's not as strong,
15:08it's going to be a little bit harder to push the ball down the football field. I would expect the Colts to look a lot
15:13worse this year. So last year, what they were the best offense through the the first eight weeks in like NFL history.
15:18And then this year, according to the betting markets, they're 15th in points per game projected uh 23. So, I like him. He's got a really high floor. He's
15:29got a really high ceiling. I like him a tier below those other guys. I think he he doesn't quite move just at the same
15:34levels as these top three guys. Um >> he's more of a battering ram, like a bull in a china shop, like and they get
15:39would give him screens and, you know, he would rumble after the catch with all that stuff. We still getting didn't get
15:45his ability as a Wildcat quarterback as often as we might have with other teams that, you know, don't have Daniel Jones
15:50and don't have Jonathan Taylor inside the 5 yard line.
15:53>> Yeah.
15:53>> Um, >> look, I had questions about Tyler Warren translating from Penn State to the NFL, but as soon as we got to like preseason
15:59action and definitely early on in the season, I was like, "Okay, I am almost all the way in on him being like a real
16:06focal point of this passing game." While they're not going to be the highest scoring offense in the league, and it might be close to the, you know, 15th
16:13high scoring, uh, just getting rid of Michael Pitman in like the same area of where targets are going for the tight
16:19end and wide receivers, I think, is a massive difference. And they didn't replace him at all.
16:24>> Not at all. The defense lost a lot of players. They didn't add anybody on defense really this this off season as
16:29well. And then uh last note, Alec Pierce uh was playing through an ankle injury, decided to not have surgery, and then
16:38like a couple months into the offseason decided to have ankle surgery, which is like a three-month recovery. It's all within the window of like just it's all
16:45offseason stuff, but you don't like three-month recoveries from like the like go-to number one wide receiver in the offense right there. So like if
16:52Pierce isn't the same player and Pitman's gone, then all of a sudden like Warren could be one of these like top
16:57three, top four guys. Okay, he's going 20 picks after Coulson Loveland and then he's going about 14 picks ahead of the
17:05next tight end. So, this is really an interesting position where you might only have one tight end in a single round or every two rounds for example.
17:12Um, but we have to skip down because being drafted as a tight end eight, but for you the tight end five is Kyle Pittz
17:20still of the Atlanta Falcons playing on the franchise tag. Sell me on this one because I'm still a little bit skeptical
17:26here.
17:26>> He's just healthy. you know, you're not reading about any uh Cal Pitts blurbs right now in the off seasonason that
17:31like is he limping around and stuff because we just watched him in the back half of the season go absolutely nuts.
17:36Just want to remind people this was probably the freakiest tight end prospect of all time. Uh you go top five ahead of Jamar Chase like that there's
17:44some untapped ceiling here and we saw it at the end of the season when Drake London missed. He went crazy. He
17:50averaged 84 yards uh in the five games without Drake London. Um, and they just didn't really add anybody to the wide
17:58receiver group behind Drake London. So, it's Bejon, Pitts, and London. That's it. If something happens to Bejon or to London, Kyle Pittz is going to go crazy.
18:08I think Tua getting in there for Kurt Cousins. I'm like largely calling the quarterback play a wash. I like Kevin Stfansky, especially for tight ends,
18:16just looking at the history with um Fannon and David Ninjoku. and he's just he's 25 years old and healthy and like
18:24would it be the craziest thing ever if Kyle Pittz had like 1100 yards or something crazy like that? I I don't
18:29think it would be that uh uh out of balance just like you want to take the zoomed out view of like this guy was
18:36supposed to be an allp pro caliber player. We saw it in flashes this this last season. What if he puts it all
18:41together and like this could be the year uh under a new coaching staff to do it?
18:44I guess my hesitation is when he really broke out last year. It was in an offense that they don't want to be in
18:51>> 2026. You know, it was without Drake Lynn. I mean, he missed three in three of the four games that Drake Lynon
18:56missed. Kyle Pittz was the tight end six, seven, and one overall. That was also with Kirk Cousins, who played better, I think, than
19:02>> Michael Penn did last year. I think he played better than Tua did last year.
19:06Yeah. for example, um like opening 10 games, Cal Pitts averaging 4.7 catches for 43 yards, just one touchdown on top of that. Totally with you. Kevin Sansky,
19:16we also used to talk about with, you know, Drew Petting and Trey McBride that he builds his offenses around tight ends
19:23and actually gives him a lot of gimmies.
19:24Like we're going to talk about Harold Fannon here in a moment and he got a ton of gimmies last year and that's what you
19:28want the zero to nine yard range and that has been kind of the issue for Cal Pitts in the past that everything was
19:33more intermediate and downfield. So, if that changes, yeah, the the volume certainly will change on top of it. Uh, it's also in the back of my head that
19:41apparently they were willing to move him during the offseason, too, after, you know, placing the franchise tackle.
19:46>> Yeah, there's a lot to hit on that you just you talked about. I think that the exciting part is the underneath stuff
19:51because he's kind of been operating almost like as like a deep target like almost like a wide receiver. And I thought last year his agility came back.
19:58There was times from like the last two two or three seasons he like couldn't turn left because he had that big brace
20:04on. just looks so awkward. I thought last year he actually showed some nimleness and some more explosiveness.
20:09And if we get a full off seasonason where he's not uh rehabbing as much and he's like back to like full speed, we're
20:15talking about like a 6'6 guy that's as fast as anybody on the football field.
20:19And if he's got the agility back, then I think that you can do some choice routes, some leak routes, uh just hit
20:24him in the flats and screens and stuff.
20:25And we've never seen that from Kyle Pitts. And nothing about this last season was outlier based. like all the efficiency stats like yards after the
20:32catch, touchdown rate, all normal. The only thing that changed is he just got more targets and I think that's a good
20:37sign.
20:37>> You must be ending up with a lot of cow pits in your drafts right now because again he's being selected as the Titan 8
20:41and you have him as the Titan 5. By the way, you can draft right now. Also, you can subscribe to the channel right now.
20:45It's totally free to you. Uh I would love if somehow someway we would get to 200,000 subscribers before the season starts. That would be simply incredible.
20:53So help us get there. Uh we love every single one of you that hits that subscribe button. Again, totally free to
20:58all of you. Okay, next up is Sam Laaporta as your tight end six. Um, he's being selected 98th overall, so inside
21:06of the top 100. Uh, he was, I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong, the tight end one in drafts last year after being
21:12the tight end one during his rookie season. Uh, he hurt was that did I >> That was two years ago. Time flies.
21:18Yeah, time flies. That was two years ago. That was that was a tough year for early round tight end when we were like
21:24really trying to get some guys going.
21:25Last year we had McBride versus Bowers.
21:27It was legit. We did. We did. Yeah, it was two years ago. Wow. Okay. Anyways, herniated disc last year. Um upside
21:35though was still there when he was on the field. I mean, he was a top six tight end in four of the nine games that
21:40he played. And he does get a let's say tight end whisperer coming that from that Sfansky tree now with Drew Ping as
21:45his offensive >> coord. Yeah, that's that's a great note.
21:47I didn't even have that written down there, but that's that just makes me even more bullish. I like Sam Leaporta at cost. I I really do. He's uh in the
21:55prime of his career. We know that he's really good. Uh he was second in success rate on his targets last year, fourth in
22:00EPA per target, fifth in yards per target. Um he's really good after the catch and he gets open and he's a
22:08consistent player. Uh the only issue is he doesn't get targets like the other guys because of the offense. Now you kind of look at that two. Yeah, exactly.
22:16Uh the the the only difference here though is if a Monro St. Brown gets injured at any point, Leaport is going
22:25to go to the absolute moon. We have not seen that before. Like this is like when Kyle Pittz goes crazy, it's because
22:29they're so locked in on one wide receiver that the the tight end if that receiver misses time is going to go
22:36absolutely crazy. So I think that the the Lions still project really really well. I think that they're uh second and third or they're third in projected
22:43points looking at the betting lines uh right now. And I know Leaport is a good football player and he's kind of being
22:50priced at where he was uh a season ago when he was dealing with J Mo Gibbs and Amanra. All those guys were healthy um
22:58in the first 10 weeks of the season.
22:59Like what happens if you like take one of those guys out of the offense? So like I'll take him where his baseline
23:05projection is. He's not going to go lower than that in the prime of his career. He's only going to go up from
23:09there. So I think there's an arbitrage opportunity here. Yeah, I'm sure we'll talk about this at some point this summer, but there are some on-off splits
23:15with him and Jameson Williams where they rarely both have a really good game.
23:19It's one or the other. Uh, so we'll see.
23:22I mean, again, Drew Petting loves these types of guys.
23:25>> Yes, he does.
23:26>> So, I'm in on Sam Leort this year if healthy. Next is Tucker Craft as your tight end seven. Is he the best yards
23:34after catch tight end in the NFL?
23:35>> I mean, if you're looking at the charts I was posting on to uh Twitter, there's no question about it. Now, he he gets
23:41blessed with Laflur leaking him out where there's nobody by him. And to his credit, for somebody that's what, 6'5, 259, just runs fast every single pain in
23:51the ass to tackle. So, he's one of my favorite tight ends to watch. He's excellent blocker uh as well. So, it
23:57just comes down to when is he going to be healthy? So, he tore his ACL in week nine last year. It was just an ACL tear,
24:04no MCL, meniscus, nothing like that.
24:06He's right on schedule according to Laflur. And if you do the math of like what's a little bit over nine uh months
24:13from his uh his ACL tear, it's right around late August, week one. I think the baseline assumption here is he's going to be available for week one. He's
24:23not going to be the same player in week one. He probably won't be the same player until Halloween or later. But
24:29this guy rules, the Packers rule. Uh and I have a lot of faith that Laflur wants to get Craft involved. And it's kind of
24:36helpful that Wix is gone, Dobs is gone.
24:38They're only focused on the the guys they want to get the football to. So, I think it's going to take some time here
24:43and I I want to keep every single week where there's no news negatively on his return, I'm going to move him up two
24:49spots overall in my rankings until we get to August.
24:51>> He does rule. That's just a great descriptor for him because like you get this downfield push with this passing game with the ambitious passer that
24:58Jordan Love is to Christian Watson and Matthew Golden. And that just gives Tucker Craft to like chip and release and gets room to rumble after the catch
25:06underneath. And I mean, he just no matter if you're small or big, he either runs around you or runs through you. Um,
25:12and yeah, if you think the ACL is going to heal near 100%, the season's very long and this is an incredible discount.
25:18I mean, weeks one through eight when he was healthy, that was 14 half PBR points per game. That would have been just
25:24behind Trey McBride and good enough for the Titan two overall last season. So, I'm really hoping we get the same Tucker
25:31Craft as we previously did. I will say he is like the most obvious negative uh like regression candidate on some of
25:38these stats. Uh but that's because he's he's so dang good. He did lead the position with plus.91 EPA per target. And the craziest thing
25:46is his average depth of target was 4 and a half yards down the football field.
25:50His average yards per target was 11. How do you average over 11 when your A dot is four? like that that means you are
25:57doing crazy things down the football field after the catch which is usually not sustainable. So I think if you start regressing some of that this is where he
26:05belongs but like this is why I like this tier. Like we haven't said pretty much any negative notes like on any of these
26:10guys all these guys what like 22 to to 27 years old. Like I want to double down on this tier.
26:16>> Here's another one even younger than that. Harold Fannon is your tight end eight. Unfortunately Hayden he's being selected as >> tight end six. So, do you hate when this
26:25happens where you love a player, you love a prospect, and yet the public in your eyes overdrafts him, so you have to
26:33be lower on him than consensus?
26:35>> I'll still mix him in. Uh, he's not my favorite click on the board. I don't think he's a bad click either, though.
26:39Like, I have him ranked overall, like kind of where his ADP is in general. Um, you're right though. I loved him as a
26:45prospect. I went back to my scouting report and the first line I wrote is, "This profile feels too good to be
26:50true." And then like everything translated after the catch was fantastic. You can scheme him up. Uh the problem is he was fourth in targets per
26:59game last year. Uh but it was a 42% success rate because of Shador Sanders and Dylan Gabriel. Is Deshun Watson going to be the savior here? I'm I'm not
27:08sure about this. It's going to be the same quarterback problems uh as we had last year. It's going to be the same
27:13offensive line problems. They have five new starters. Are any of them actually really good? Uh we'll have to find out.
27:19I have my doubts about that. And then on top of that, Todd Monkin, I like appreciate what he's doing, but he is
27:26pretty dang run focused here in like a a hardo in ways that I I get a little bit nervous if they're actually going to let
27:32a 240 pound uh tight end like Harold Fand every down player in the Todd Mon offense. I think I think that's what's
27:39going to happen, but this is the first player where I have my doubts like maybe we can start like regressing some of
27:44these things down. Uh, but at the same time, >> you just looked at their depth chart. I feel like he has to be an every down
27:49player. I mean, have you looked at our lads? It's Blake Whiteart, it's Joe Royer, it's Jack Stole, it's Carson Ryan.
27:57>> I mean, he has to be an every tight end here. And Todd Monkin loves his multiple personnel groupings. What kind of
28:04multiple personnel groupings can you have here? Like, Michael Burton might play some fullback, so you might have some 21 personnel, but I think it's
28:10going to be less, you know, 12 and 13 stuff out here. Fannon's an interesting one because he had the third most short
28:16targets of all tight ends last year.
28:18Zero to nine yards. 79 targets, nine yards and shorter versus 24 10 plus yards. I think that his A dot is going
28:28to increase here with Todd Monkin. Um it was at six yards last year. If you look at Isaiah likely and Mark Andrews and
28:35granted Lamar Jackson, but even like Tyler Huntley and other guys were throwing passes, those guys were at eight yards. So like a plus two yard a
28:42dot difference does translate into maybe less efficiency in terms of hey catch rate but maybe more intermediate targets down the field too.
28:51>> I hope so. I mean and there's always a chance it's a low chance that like Deshun Watson is just a much better
28:57quarterback than what they had last year. I'm not saying a whole lot like he's not going to go back to the MVP
29:00stuff but could he be a better quarterback than what the Browns collectively had last year? I think that's like still like somewhat likely
29:05here. Yeah, I I think Fannon's an exceptional football player. It's just, you know, it's the same time. It's it's the Cleveland Browns here. Uh I did find
29:11it interesting. He had 731 yards as a 21-year-old rookie last year. Right now in the pick lobby on underdog, he projects for 724 yards. So I think that
29:20we're not expecting a huge jump from him because he's already so good. And then on top of that, we both love Casey
29:25Conpio, the first round wide receiver.
29:27They go get another wide receiver, Denzel Boston, in the second round. That probably cancels out the David Njoku loss here.
29:34I'm okay like just copy pasting what happened last year for Harold Fannon and then in half PPR he kind of checks out
29:39right here. I have I have no issues with that.
29:41>> You have officially been Don Concincaid pilled. He finished last year as around like the tight end 12 in points per
29:48game. It depends on if you count certain guys eight game samples, six game samples, all this type of stuff. The knee injury really slowed him down, but
29:55again he's being drafted right now as the tight end 13. However, he is your tight end nine. Uh we talk about Titans
30:04needing to stay on the field. He has still failed to do that. Not one game over 55% of snaps last year. So why is
30:12he tighten nine?
30:13>> Well, he plays on the Buffalo Bills. Uh and he is really good when he gets uh the ball thrown his way. And then
30:19whenever he's on the football field, they tend to throw him the ball immediately like on a per route basis.
30:23Like Concaid is like almost in his own tier from everybody else in the league.
30:27Obviously, we should expect that because his routes are down. But I feel pretty good that Don Concade is a good receiver. He's was probably shouldn't
30:35have been the what, the 25th overall pick in the draft, but he's a good wide receiver attached to Josh Allen here.
30:40And then if you do include the postseason games there, he was the tight end nine uh on a per game basis last
30:46year despite dealing with the injury. So I think he goes into the next season of his career and now we're like fully in
30:51his prime. Uh obviously GJ Moore being involved is bad news for Dalton Concade.
30:56So I'm not expecting some breakout here.
30:57like he has to be really efficient to be kind of a low-end tight end. One, I feel pretty comfortable that just like, you
31:04know, a really good receiving tight end attached to Josh Allen's going to usually just be pretty efficient. I find it hard for him to like go much higher
31:13than this, though. So, I I do think we have this right where it is a this was the tier break.
31:17>> If Dawson Knox and Jackson Hall stay healthy, he's going to be stuck around that 60% mark at best in terms of Yep.
31:24>> snaps overall. Um, but who knows? Maybe things change. Like it does take these tight ends a little bit of time and
31:29maybe he is among those if ever he can graduate. But I I kind of feel like the Buffalo Bills when keeping Joe Brady
31:35want to utilize him in this specific way. It does.
31:38>> All right. Travis Kelce is next.
31:40Formerly uh of the first round draft picks. Now you can draft tighting uh Travis Kelce at 124 overall. So what are
31:52you expecting here when we mention that often times when you already can kind of start seeing the cliff it is right
32:00around the corner. Uh the decline has been on like a per route basis and efficiency numbers.
32:06>> Yes, >> it has been happening in real life for Kelsey over the last two seasons.
32:09>> It has. And then I go back and hit the refresh. There's 14 games with Patrick Mahomes. Kelsey was a tight end six in
32:15full PPR, tight end five in receptions, tight end three in receiving yards on a per game basis. He was second in success
32:21rate on his target. So like >> I kind of think who knows what happens though Hayden >> I kind of think like Rashi Rice not
32:28being on the field and these guys kind of eat from each other because it's in the same section of where a target is
32:33going to go.
32:33>> Well I mean let's talk about Rashi Rice for a second just before we press record here. Like this guy's going to be
32:38spending a month uh behind bars here.
32:40Your guy can't stay out of trouble. This is like one of these things where as we get closer to the season, I feel more
32:45and more uh I'm sure that Patrick Holmes is going to be out there for week one to the fact after the schedule release, one
32:51of my biggest notes from the schedule release is week one Chiefs Monday Night Football. Week two Chiefs, Sunday Night Football. Like somebody's telling the
32:58NFL that Patrick Mahomes going to be out there, watch Patrick Mahomes swing a golf club. It looked clean out there, too. So, I'm expecting these guys to get
33:05back to where it was this last season where in full PPR he's going to catch a bunch of passes that they really didn't
33:10add anybody to the wide receiver or tight end room. So, like he doesn't have to match last season. Like he can take
33:17another step down and pay this price tag off. So, I think early on I feel comfortable with him.
33:23>> Okay. Dallas is your tight end 11. The fewest receptions per game for him since 2021. fewest yards per game since 2019,
33:33but then you score 11 touchdowns and that's just incredible deodorant for any type of, you know, counting stat that you want on there. I mean, on 15 targets
33:42inside the red zone, he scored 10 touchdowns.
33:45>> I don't think you can keep that up, but when you trade away AJ Brown, which in a month they might, probably will, those
33:52receiving yards and receptions could certainly jump up without AJ Brown out there on the field. Yeah, he's just been so consistent on these uh his receiving
34:00yards and receptions per game. So, it's seven straight seasons where he's been between 3.7 and 4.6 uh uh receptions per game. He hit that obviously last year as
34:09well. Do you remember how he got those tight those touchdowns though? They were doing like like variants of like the tush push where like Jaylen Herz would
34:17get under center and they would just like toss the ball out to God and then he'd score.
34:20>> That's where it's like that's just not gonna repeat. Like that was fancy boy cool stuff. catch him off guard, score
34:25touchdowns his last season and then every team's going to be prepared for that this off seasonason. So like it was easily his most touchdowns ever. That's
34:32going to come back. If you do just regress it to his like baseline touchdown rate, he was like the tight end 10, tight end 12 this last season. I
34:39expect largely to be the same. I will say with Goddard, I did also notice that his game was just like not quite as
34:45clean on tape, especially as a run blocker. He was terrible as a run blocker this last season. So sometimes like that's a sign that he wasn't he was
34:52dealing with some like undisclosed injuries or just that like damn like my back is starting to hurt. I've been blocking guys for for 10 years now. Um
34:59so I wouldn't be surprised if he's just like even with AJ Brown out of the way that in comes Mai Lemon, in comes Eli
35:06Sters, and it's just like more or less the same for Dallas.
35:09>> Yeah. And while Sters has a long way to go as an every down run blocker, uh this is probably the most, you know,
35:17receiving competition from a quote unquote tight end position that Dallas cutters ever had here with the Eagles.
35:21>> Yeah. But we'll talk about Jaylen Herz in the new uh offense with Shawn Manion uh later on this week, but it it should
35:27largely kind of be the same to me.
35:29>> Jake Ferguson of the Dallas Cowboys is your tight end 12. Um there are some major on-off splits with he and CD Lamb.
35:39Uh it's always in my mind that hey when C Lamb's on the field you get those seam passes from the slot from Dak Prescott.
35:46When he's out of the lineup then you get Jake Ferguson on the same seam passes >> down the middle of the field. So uh he's
35:54such a fascinating player because he always winds up in fantasy relevance for like a long stretch of the season and then it feels like other portions he is
36:00just totally quiet and you don't want him at all. Yeah, he was only averaging uh 4.3 uh receptions and 33 yards uh
36:09when C Dam was healthy next to George Pickins. And what you noticed was where he's being targeted on the football field has changed. Now you have two
36:16alpha wide receivers, especially with George Pickkins. Like when Dak Prescott wants to throw the ball down the the the field, he's got two wide receivers to do
36:23it. And that means that Jake Ferguson's now only pretty much a checkdown option.
36:28And those just little checkdowns are just like not worth nearly as much.
36:31there's like way less chance of an explosive play like on a checkown or a little sit route. Uh and that's where uh
36:37Turd Ferguson was getting targeted this last year. So his A DOT was 50th out of 58 qualifiers last year. And like that
36:45just makes sense to me schematically that we appreciate Ferguson's just like ability to sit in zone coverage, but like I I think that we have to have an
36:53injury for him to like show any pop. So he's might like he's got the most upside for like a tight end, too. But this is
36:59where I think the floor is starting to get pretty wonky.
37:02>> Okay. You are below market on George KD being drafted as a tight end nine. Uh he's your tight end 13. I'm assuming the
37:10postseason Achilles injury is the main thing that's keeping him down for you.
37:14>> Yeah, just he's older and you have an injury that I think that he's got a chance to be ready for week one. The
37:2249ers are always like, "Hey, we're hopeful he's going to be out there for week one." And you just like you just
37:26never know. Um so he's going to be 32 torn Achilles. I just don't like that they claim that the part of the Achilles
37:32I was torn is a better spot to I mean it's like okay like they're they're very optimistic um as they should be. But you
37:39know there's there's a lot of you know target competition and the age stuff. So I hope to like have some reports on like
37:46you know July 30th and then I think we'll have a better discussion about this one.
37:50>> I'm drafting a lot of George KD right now. I don't know if that's fortunately or unfortunately. uh he's going right
37:56around that 11 12 turn. So to again Dr.
38:00Franken sign the position with late round tight ends >> getting three from round 12 through round 18. He is one of those names that
38:06I'm loading up on. Uh I like it. Maybe not necessarily early in the season but for later in the season. Mark Andrews is
38:11next for you as tight end 14. Uh >> we talked about with Todd Monkin and this Ravens offense. Previously, they've been loaded with tight ends and then
38:22they all left in Isaiah likely and Charlie Kolar. So, right now it's Mark Andrews, Durham Smi, and they drafted two and Matt Hibner in the fourth round,
38:31then Josh Quavvis in the fifth round.
38:33So, the shocking contract extension that he got last year, should that carry over into fantasy production in 2026?
38:40>> I still can't believe that contract. It came out of nowhere. Um, and they let obviously they let uh likely leave here.
38:46Yeah. new coaching staff on top of it.
38:48Menter is going to control the defense there. It should be a good defense there. And then we'll see about the uh
38:54offensive line. There's just like still like just not enough skilled talent for Lamar Jackson here. So, I think Mark Andrews like could he, you know, average
39:0140 yards per game and score 10 touchdowns this year? Like I I can see that being the case. I will say this on
39:07film, it just has not looked the same like the last what twoish years um since that injury uh versus before that. did
39:15not have a good uh ending of the season this last year. He's 30 years old, but he's played a lot of football, dealt
39:21with a lot of injuries over those uh 30 years as well. So, yeah, he looks pretty similar to Ferguson KD Andrews where
39:28you're on good offenses. Same thing with Goddard. Um good offenses, decent enough player here, but like he's never going to average six receptions per game
39:36again.
39:36>> I mean, those 2024 numbers where he scored 11 touchdowns on basically 11 endzone targets were ridiculous. and Todd Monkin basically built their red
39:45zone offense around Mark Andrews. I mean, he was still fourth among all tight ends and endzone targets last year with 10. Uh, I'm not sure if Delin Doyle
39:53is going to do the same thing when they actually throw the ball in that area.
39:56But again, on paper, he has less target competition now that Isaiah Likely and just from a personnel grouping stuff like Patrick Card is also gone and
40:04Charlie Kohler is also gone.
40:05>> Yep. They need him. They need him bad.
40:07>> Next for you, Isaiah Likely. Speaking of New York Giants, uh how often do you expect him to be on the field because uh
40:15he and Theo Johnson uh are built different despite being at the same position?
40:20>> Yeah, Likely they signed him to a decent contract here to to catch the football.
40:24So, I think it's almost the exact same role. Obviously, Harbaugh's familiar with Likely, so that they brought him in. Um, I did move him up recently
40:33because like the more you read about the Malik Neighbor stuff, the more you feel good about Isaiah likely specifically in like a reddraft like let's say like I
40:40think likely plus KD is a good pairing.
40:42You get Isaiah likely for the first uh month of the season then as KD uh comes back to full health and Malik Neighbors
40:50comes back to the football field then you can drop one for the other. So, Malik Neighbors, he had a setback or
40:56not, shouldn't say a setback. He just had to have a second surgery. Maybe a setback.
41:00>> Kind of sounds like a setback a little bit.
41:02>> Yeah. Didn't have full range of motion.
41:04Had to get in there, scrape some stuff off of his knee, uh, so he can get back to the football field. I think the
41:09expectation now is like pretty likely he's missing the first four weeks going to start the season PUP and then it's week five to week eight is kind of like
41:18the comfort zone when Malik Neighbor's going to come back at that point. So, I mean, we're talking about Darnell Mooney and my guy Darius Sllayton, who's no
41:27longer my guy after what he did this last season, uh, as the top target getters on the Giants. By the way, Cam
41:34Scout, who got all the targets and carries, he's coming off of a dislocated, uh, ankle on top of it. So like week one projections are going to
41:42get here and we're going to be talking about Isaiah likely as like the tight end nine >> because the tight end room is likely
41:48Theo Johnson and Chris Manher is still there too who is one of the best pure blockers. So they could be one of these
41:5313 personnel teams quite early on. Um obviously Matt Naggie coming from the Kansas City Chiefs they would run uh a decently high rate of 13 personnel when
42:02compared across the league.
42:04>> All right, next up Aronda Gadston. So, we're kind of in this territory. And by the way, he's your titan 16. So, he
42:12closes out this tier where if you look at conc at the front to Gadson at the end, um you just question how much
42:20they're going to be on the field. Now, with Gadston, this offseason could have gone in numerous different directions.
42:27Like, if the Chargers didn't add Aronda Gadson, then excuse me, if the Chargers didn't add Charlie Kar, then Aronda Gatson might be
42:36like the titan nine on paper here. And then they didn't stop there. They also last week added David and Jooko. So the
42:44sky is falling in a Ronda Gadston corner right now.
42:47>> Then they also add Katon Mitchell. They add Brennan Thompson, a wide receiver that I liked. There just like more depth
42:53with the Chargers skill group. Uh that said, the offensive line looks pretty dang impressive and that was like the actual like root cause of all their
43:00problems this last season. So like the Chargers offense should project better in 2026 than where they finished last year. I think Gadston's like he's got
43:09the the skills that we're looking for.
43:10Like he's he's one of these guys that can just move really well. He's not doesn't move quite like a wide receiver,
43:16but he dang played wide receiver at at Syracuse and then uh had some really nice moments in the red area like choice
43:22routes, those type of things. Uh he's just going to get subbed off the football field uh this year. Like there's no question about that. Um and
43:29then with uh the McDaniel offense, it's typically hasn't been very tight end focused just over the years now. like that's mostly because like the personnel
43:37that they had, but there's some history there. Um, so I think he just got shoved into a part-time role that's >> ultimately not that fun. Like the last
43:46four games of the season, he was the tight end 35 and that's when, you know, the entire offense was like back to full
43:52health at wide receiver and like he just didn't have the same moment. So I have him in a dynasty league and I really
43:56wanted him to be just like my saving grace and just like I don't think it's going to happen right now. And
44:00unfortunately, they wouldn't have made these moves unless Mike McDaniel wanted them to. You know, like Mike McDaniel has had Mike Cassiki in the past. Last
44:07season, he had Darren Waller, but he wants heavier inline guys. And just I'm sure he watched the tape and McDaniel loves running the ball. And when Gatson
44:17was on the field, the Chargers only ran the ball 30% of the time. So, yep, >> I think we're going to see some spike
44:22weeks out here. And again, the offseason could have gone a different direction, but the one that we're headed in, it just feels like Gaton's going to be
44:28stuck in that like 40 to 50% snap range.
44:31>> I think like just right now, like just going through this, I would move him down to the next tier. Just
44:35>> Okay, >> start there. And we might find some guys that we like more just talking through this.
44:38>> Hunter Henry is next. Uh he is still a New England Patriot. Uh the New England Patriots, shockingly to me, continue to
44:49not overly invest in the tight end position. Uh they did take Eli Raridan in round three. Uh but they are also
44:57coming off a season where they ran a ton of 12 personnel looks with Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper. So Hunter Henry's
45:03role is largely unchanged here.
45:05>> Yeah, I think largely unchanged.
45:06Obviously the exception to that is like when you get AJ Brown and Romeo Dobs in there, like there's just a lot more
45:12target competition and now he's going to be he's 31 right now. So like we're into the >> the part of his career where it's we're
45:19going to start noticing his uh games declining. At the same time, Drake May is awesome. Uh, he's probably not going to have the same season that he had this
45:26last year where his I was looking at his completion percentage over expected for Drake May and it was like by far number
45:32one in the league. Like it wasn't even close. Like from one to two was a ginormous difference. So, you start regressing the Patriots stuff a little
45:38bit there and then all these other factors. Hunter Henry is fine in baseball. He's going to score six touchdowns this year. Uh, and we will be
45:47able to use those weeks. It'll be very hard to predict in the season. So, I think that he's going to be a waiver
45:51wire guy. Char or the Patriots are projected for 26 points this week.
45:56Hunter Henry's available. Let's throw him in there and pray. Uh, you can't really see a ceiling beyond that.
46:01>> Okay, I'm going to speed along here because we don't want the show to be an hour. Uh, next is kind of this grouping
46:07of Brenton Strange, Jawan Johnson, and AJ Barner. Of the Jaguars, of the Saints, and of Seattle. You know me, I love myself some AJ Barner. We're gonna
46:18in about a month uh talk about secondyear tight ends. For me, he was like the secondyear tight end breakout that I didn't realize until I watched
46:28that show when everyone was getting very excited about Elijah Royo. I was saying, "Hey, AJ Barer's not coming off the field." And he is the prime example of
46:34if you are a very good blocker with some decent receiving chops, you have a great chance and a good offense of just simply
46:42scoring touchdowns because you're on the field. And because of that, he was fantasy relevant for a lot of people as an 18th round selection.
46:49>> Yeah, I'm starting to write my notes for just the the draft guide in my first line is as a 23 year old, Barner played
46:5595 and 90% of the Seahawks snaps in the championship and then in the Super Bowl.
47:00Like this is how you draw it up, you know? He's 6'6, 251 pounds. He's one of the best blockers. He's got some yak
47:06appeal. And then also note, I think the Seahawks are going to pass the ball like in more attempts this year just because
47:12they're probably not going to be blowing teams out like in the same way that they were last year. Uh they're probably not
47:15going to score as many points. There's a little give and take there. There's just like not a proven established target getter beyond JSN. Like we like Rasheed
47:23Shahed, but it was not the smoothest uh campaign with the Seahawks in terms of volume. And then same thing with Cooper
47:29Cup and he's another year older. So like he's one of these guys. Something happens to JSN, I mean Barner's going to
47:34be a stud. So, I would put him at the top of this tier. Um, I know he's a good football player. I know the Seahawks
47:40offense is going to be pretty good. So, um, I think Barner's like the sleeper of 2026 at this position.
47:46>> All right, I have something to admit.
47:48After a number of drafts that are being completed at this point, Chico Quano is somehow my highest drafted player. All right,
47:55>> really.
47:55>> Maybe I'm an idiot, but like 13th, 14th round, Chico Quano perfectly fits now as a Washington commander to me in this Dr.
48:02Frankenstein 3 tight end build. Uh David Blau now his play caller coming from the Lions where you know he was in offensive
48:09meetings with Ben Johnson threw passes I'm sure to Sam Laaporta during practice. This is what I always talk about second team second contract
48:17athletic tight end uh on an offense with very uncertain target competition after Terry McLaren. So I think the pathway is there to maybe even being like the
48:28second target getter on this offense.
48:31There's also a pathway where John Bates just totally blocks him from being, you know, a 70% snap player.
48:36>> I think you're looking at like a, you know, tear down from the Dalton Concade and Isaiah Likely stuff that we're
48:41talking about. I think there's a chance that Chico Quano shows a little bit more here just because he has a much better
48:45offense. Uh, to your point, like they just have nobody behind Terry McLaren at this point. So, and even if it is
48:51Brandon Nauk on September 1st, where it like literally might be September 1st, I don't even know how to like factor that
48:57in. So, he's one of these guys where he can just look up and be like, "Hey, he's tight end two on a team that's
49:02functional or the number two target on a team that's pretty functional." Like, that's that's what a tight end 2 looks like. Especially for like full PPR
49:09waiverwire stuff. Like, we're going to say Chico Quano's name probably a lot um this summer. Okay. Kenyan Sadi is your tight end 22. Was just drafted by the
49:19New York Jets in the first round, but the community out there is drafting him as the tight end 17 right now. So, what
49:27are your reservations?
49:28>> Well, I had some reservations on Sadi's profile um before the draft. I thought that he's kind of in development with
49:34this like zone feel. I thought that he didn't catch everything super clean. I fully acknowledge how explosive he is in a straight line. Like there's no doubt
49:42about that. I think that some of the other athletic traits are like not quite as groundbreaking just like his like flexibility, sitting in zone cover, like
49:49those type of things where I think he's going have to over time kind of develop that. And it's just a bummer that he not
49:54only goes to the Jets who I think are projected for like the bottom three points this year, they also double down
50:00get Omar Cooper. We know how good Garrett Wilson is and then we know how volatile Gino Smith could be. And then
50:06on top of that, don't forget about Mason Taylor. And then like you go back to read the scouting reports, you go back
50:11to watch our video about Mason Taylor, it's just like that's all reliable. Just going to eat a bunch of snaps like keep
50:17it moving. Like maybe he turns into Hunter Henry, but like we've seen Dalton Schultz be this guy. like that guy still
50:22exists. Like this is the second season.
50:23So like is Sadi going to be a full-time player just because he went in round one? Like I don't think so. I think
50:28there's a chance he's more of a 70% snap player. Maybe a tier above Concaid because a little bit better of a blocker
50:34than Concaid or certainly a better blocker than Concade is, but like a lot of the same issues exist, but he's on
50:39the Jets, not the Buffalo Bills.
50:40>> Yeah, I understand the draft capital is attached to him and Mason Taylor and that's from, you know, the same staff
50:46and regime. Uh, but I kind of would be surprised if we get to week one and Sadique is the one that's on the field
50:52constantly over Mason Taylor as the tight end one. I like Sadi a lot. I'm just Maybe it's that Frank Reich nastiness that's in my brain.
51:01>> We didn't even say Frank Reich. Like we should say Frank Reich every single time we talk about any Jet, you have to say
51:05Frank Reich first.
51:06>> We're drafting a lot of New York Jets right now. Um, >> I'm not you you guys are Don't Don't we
51:11me? I'm not drafting any >> people are drafting a lot of New York Jets right now. And uh maybe Frank Wright can do it, but um I'm a little
51:18bit nervous that we won't see like the final form of this group until 2027.
51:23Okay, just three more in this tier quickly. It's TJ Hawinson, it's Dalton Schultz, it's Kateton. Uh kind of sucks
51:33to see Hawk all the way down here versus in previous years he was kind of drafted as a tight end seven to tight end nine.
51:40Yeah, I think I like him maybe ahead of Sadiq and Chigo Quanquo just okay.
51:45>> I think Kyle is tied in 22 right now.
51:48>> Yeah, let's move him ahead. I'll double down on that. I think that the Vikings are going to look a lot better this
51:53year. Their quarterback play was horrific and I think that we have a chance where Hawinson's like he's never going to be like a superstar receiving
52:01tight end. he's kind of just like hit kind of a limitation coming off that injury and it's really hard for him to
52:06do that when you have, you know, uh, Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, they just added Jawan Jennings on top of it.
52:12So, there's a lot of target competition going on there. I think he's he's fine, uh, as a tight end, too, but it's hard
52:17to get really excited about him as long as Justin Jefferson's there.
52:20>> Yeah. And low low key, uh, the Houston Texans are one of these teams that can also go in three tight ends. I mean,
52:27they even have four. It's Dalton Schultz. They brought in Foss Maro in free agency. They drafted Marlon Klein in the second round and they also had
52:36Cade Stove in the fourth round just a couple years ago. So they're like four deep at tight end.
52:40>> Yeah. I just like thinking through this, it's hard to find a bunch of sleeper tight ends. And I think that was the
52:45kind of the difference uh this year.
52:47Like I feel okay about a couple of these guys, but like we kind of like gushed about like what what the top 10 names
52:53for quite a while there.
52:54>> Okay. Well, I've got one for you. We'll close us out with tight ends 26 through 29. Uh that is David and Jooku, Terrence
53:02Ferguson, Eli Sters, and my sleeper tight end this year is Gunnar Helm.
53:08>> Okay, >> you're tight end 29. I think being drafted is tight end 25 if I'm not mistaken. Um 181 overall. Uh look, his
53:19athletic profile is non-existent. If we look at his NFL combine, he blew up his ankle and then >> Yeah, it's a test combine. Yeah,
53:27>> his testing was horrific. However, this team allowed, despite needing passcatching help, Chico Quano to leave.
53:35Gunnar Helm kind of became an every down tight end for them. I think he is smooth enough, has solid enough hands, even
53:41going back to his time at Texas to come down with these passes. And we saw last year Brian Dball really utilize his
53:49tight ends in the intermediate portion.
53:51My Frankenstein room of tight ends right now often is kettle che and then I close things out with Gunnar Helm.
53:59>> I can see the vision here. I thought his film and college was like kind of just like catch the ball and and kind of
54:06tumble over, but like he caught the ball routinely and I thought he was like kind of smooth. Um, and you just didn't see
54:12the explosiveness. But we've seen I mean we just mentioned a couple of them and like Schultz and K dot and those type of
54:17guys like they could hold the line especially in like best baseball as like a a late round tight end and Helm would
54:23be one of these guys where I haven't done projections yet but his raw projection versus the wide receiver that's being drafted right next to him
54:30is probably better like just straight up. So um I'm I'm completely open to the helms of the world. I would be pretty
54:36surprised if he's like a top 12 guy but like could he be the the tight end 18 this year? Like why not? Yeah, it's it's
54:41Gunner Helm, Daniel Bellinger followed Brian Dball. Uh Kylin Gransson who has been with the Colts and the Philadelphia Eagles in the past is also on the
54:50roster. But uh yeah, Gunner Helm, look again, last year we talked about like Harold Fannon. We talked about AJ Barner, a few of these other guys. And
54:57>> Theo Johnson for a long time, Britain Strange, they were going later and later and later.
55:01>> Uh the last last round name is that I'm thinking about a lot is going to help, but maybe that backfires. Mine's Greg
55:08Doulich largely because you got to drag his name up there. Look at the way this guy looks. This is like Zoro. This is
55:14it's an unbelievable aesthetic. Uh he's by himself out there. I'll I'll leave it at that.
55:19>> The the the funniest part though, I mean, he he is on the Miami Dolphins for those of you that don't know. They did
55:25bring in Will Casmic, >> purely a blocking threat in the third round. Uh, and then they do have Sadu Triori as a fifthrounder, but who knows
55:35exactly what position he is going to play. And that's really it. So like if Greg Doulich can fulfill this receiving target upside on a team that
55:43>> doesn't really have wide receiver, >> they're desperate.
55:46>> They are desperate.
55:47>> That is.
55:47>> Yeah, I've seen worse. He's like my favorite like what the hell are we doing in sleeper this year.
55:51>> All right. On Thursday, we're going to talk about quarterbacks. Rank those.
55:54Talk about the offenses that they're in right now. A lot of changes across the league. what I think half the teams
55:59across the league have a new play caller or offensive coordinator or head coach.
56:03So, uh that impacts the quarterback more than any other position. Um so again, we'll discuss tight ends more and more and more throughout the summer and how
56:11that impacts wide receivers. This is a good foundation episode for it. So appreciate we show behind the scenes for all of you watching in front of the
56:21scenes. Uh, hit that subscribe button before we go and we'll see you in the next one.
