0:41Can anybody here play defense? Anybody? Coming up on the NFL Report, everything we learned from a wild, and I mean wild, first Sunday of football.
0:50How about last week? Or next week? Will Miles Garrett be back anytime soon?
0:55We'll tell you when the Rams think the DPOI will be back on the field.
1:00And it is not just Patrick Mahomes making a comeback, also making a comeback, it's Bo Nix this evening.
1:07It's a Monday night preview in Kansas City. Coming up next on the NFL Report.
1:12In those 20 seconds, Jameis Winston just put on more cologne.
1:15Hi, welcome to the NFL Report. We're presented to you by Nationwide.
1:20My name is Andrew Siciliano from our studios in Los Angeles.
1:23This is where you need to be for any and everything you need to know about the National Football League in week one.
1:31Coming up, Scott Hanson will be here. Red Zone multiverse worlds will converge.
1:36Normally we do latest headlines, let's do latest highlights.
1:39How about that? Let's get back to the wild Sunday as mentioned that included a would-be AFC championship game preview in Houston.
1:46Pick it up fourth quarter. Bill's up six when David Montgomery gets in the end zone.
1:52He had three touchdowns. He'll also be joining the show later in the week as well.
1:57And Houston has a lead, 31 to 30, until Josh Allen does this.
2:02You didn't tell me Josh Allen had a hand cannon in the back seat.
2:06Oh, he does. 34 yard touchdown to Josh Palmer.
2:09You're not supposed to make that throw. He beat Kamari Lassiter after Lassiter had dropped a pick that could or would have ended the game.
2:18But C.J. Strout still had a chance until he got sacked on consecutive plays, including this one by Greg Rousseau.
2:25That's a strip sack. That is a game winner.
2:28And Buffalo and Joe Brady get out of there with a win.
2:32Game ball. Joe Brady first win. Hey, we said it from the jump.
2:36It's never about me, man. Yeah! It's never about me, man.
2:40I'm doing it with you guys, man. All right, they didn't white balance the camera.
2:45Let's go to Carolina where no defense was played.
2:48None. Highest scoring opening week game ever. Caleb Williams had four total touchdowns.
2:53This is a sick throw. Like that's double covered.
2:56Like you're not supposed to throw the ball to Cole Komet there.
3:00Forget about catching it for a touchdown. You're not supposed to throw that ball.
3:0522 yard touchdown back and forth we go. This is late second quarter right before the break.
3:11We're tied at 24. Caleb, don't like that. Don't like that.
3:14I'll run. I'll run. I'll run for a 29 yard touchdown and you're not going to get me.
3:20Eventually, the Bears would pull away in this game.
3:24They could have dropped 60. It could have been a 60 burger.
3:28It's 52-37 when DeAndre Swift breaks free for one of his three touchdowns.
3:32He and Kyle Madungai each had 100 yards on the ground.
3:36What in the name of Mack and Biner or Brooks and Icky Woods is that?
3:41I mean, this is just a boat race. Listen, that will always be the goal is we want to be the highest scoring.
3:49We want to have the most wins. We want to win Super Bowls.
3:53We want to like that's what that's what we do.
3:57We didn't get into this profession trying to be trying to be mediocre average and that's every NFL team.
4:03So that is what it is. You know, we make decisions over the course of a week.
4:09What's best for our football team to win the game?
4:12That's the most important thing. And that's that goes into everything that we do.
4:17For the record, the record for most points in a game for an entire season is like 39.
4:23So that's the bar here. Let's go to Detroit.
4:26Final minute. This game's back and forth and crazy.
4:29And Jared Goff threw a pass backwards that people still can't figure out.
4:34Don't matter. Tyler Shuck to Juwan Johnson a minute left.
4:37That's a 75 yard drive. And we go to overtime in the overtime.
4:42Goff to Amon Ross St. Brown and the Lions have a lead, but wait, there's time.
4:47And Tyler Shuck has a chance to match it and that he would do.
4:52He threw for 400 yards. Granted, he had three turnovers, but 400 yards, including this touchdown here to Noah Fant.
4:59And the extra point will tie the game. But why do you play for a tie?
5:04Why is there any debate about this? Also, by the way, you go for two.
5:09Of course you go for two. It didn't work.
5:12That is Bryce Lance in the locker room or rather in the corner.
5:17Bryce Lance can't bring down the two Lions win 31 to 30.
5:21When we needed somebody to pull us back out of the water, our heads underwater, we did that in all three phases and your teammates one by one.
5:31That was the difference, man. Bring it in! Bring it in!
5:34Bring it in! I don't give a f*** if it's one point, if it's 30 points.
5:40It's a f***ing dub. Use this s*** for momentum, boys.
5:43I promise you we're going to get on a roll.
5:47Look back at week one at that f***ing two-point stop.
5:50That s*** that got us there. 1-0-3-1-2-3! Win! Let me some Jared Goff.
5:54They're a winner today. So are the Vikings on Sunday, although this game was crazy.
6:00Minnesota beat Green Bay. The story early was Kyler Murray obviously making his first start.
6:05He got picked on his first pass by Keyshawn Nixon and then, still in the first quarter, scramble and that was it.
6:12Took a hit by Javon Bullard. It would get flagged.
6:16Kevin O'Connell said today he didn't think it was dirty.
6:19It was a violent hit, he said, but not upset about the hit.
6:23But Kyler is in the concussion protocol. More on that coming up in a second.
6:29Aaron Jones had a TD here and see the score.
6:32This is the fourth quarter. The Packers have a lead.
6:35They're going to beat the Vikings on the road in Minnesota, open up week one.
6:41And then it just went like bonkers. The Packers could do nothing.
6:45Carson Wentz kept scoring touchdowns. Justin Jefferson here. 29 unanswered points by the Vikings.
6:4929! Packers blew it. Vikings stole it. And then here, Kevin O'Connell says Kyler Murray came out feeling pretty good today.
6:57That's a Monday reaction, but he is still very much in the concussion protocol.
7:01So if he doesn't go, then it will be Carson Wentz who played well in his place.
7:07Vikings at the Bears coming up week two. That is a one o'clock game.
7:12Soldier Field. Meantime, John Harbaugh says Lad McConkie is day to day with a rib injury.
7:17It happened in the third quarter and the Chargers offensively had nothing going most of the day.
7:23Chargers lose to the Cardinals, but that is certainly an injury to keep an eye on here in Los Angeles where we stand.
7:31Also an injury to keep an eye on in Los Angeles.
7:35One for Miles Garrett. No timetable when he's going to get back on the field.
7:40Rams with the DPOY on IR on Sunday. He's got to miss at least four games.
7:45Sean McVay was asked on Monday, do you regret having Garrett play last week in Australia?
7:51We thought it was something that we'd be able to kind of manage it.
7:56That wasn't necessarily the case. And so having that evidence and then being able to say what's the next right thing.
8:03So it was right after the game just in terms of listening to how he felt, how he was able to impact
8:10the game, you know, and even just like what you guys saw with how limited that we had to be with him.
8:18Obviously, we thought we were doing the right thing.
8:21But in hindsight, you know, you always be able to learn from it.
8:25I'll never hang on to whether you want to say it was a mistake or just different things to be able to
8:33kind of change course if that's the right line of trajectory.
8:37And so it was right after the game that we kind of knew that was the direction that we thought.
8:44And obviously, you're talking to him and seeing how he and his group feels.
8:48And, you know, and that's that's what we made the decision on.
8:52Sean McVay on Monday. This is Travis Kelsey who made a decision to come back for one more year.
8:59He is in the building in Kansas City. That building is once again called Arrowhead.
9:04It is the AFC West in the spotlight with the Broncos, the division winner a year ago, coming to town.
9:11Coming to your screen a little bit later today.
9:14This guy, Bucky Brooks with Mike Yam and Trevor Sykema.
9:17It's NFL game day preview. Hello, Bucky. And hello, Patrick Mahomes coming back nine months to the day since his ACL injury.
9:25How does Andy Reid call plays for him tonight?
9:28Do we see the old Mahomes? No, I don't think we see the old Mahomes.
9:33I think Andy Reid has to protect Patrick Mahomes from himself.
9:37Patrick Mahomes in his natural playing style is an improvisational wizard.
9:41He is at his best when he's able to leave the pocket and make the magic happen.
9:46Well, coming off that ACL injury, you probably want to be a little more conservative in your play calling and encourage him a stick with the script.
9:56Let's ease into this season. So look for more of a traditional game plan, more run, maybe more under center work.
10:03Maybe you use the threat of the bootleg and stuff to come out of there, but to keep him in the pocket.
10:10And remember, they are playing with a young guy at left tackle, Khalil Benson, undrafted free agent from Indiana.
10:17You certainly don't want to expose Patrick Mahomes to a bunch of unnecessary hits.
10:22Look for a more conservative, quick rhythm game plan, but they're going to lean on number 15 to make some plays.
10:29But it just won't be in his traditional style.
10:32That rookie left tackle, Khalil Benson, great story. Won a championship at Indiana playing right tackle.
10:37He's never been a left tackle, undrafted, rookie free agent.
10:41All right. Then there's Bo Nix. For my money, if he's still in the AFC Championship game, it's the Broncos in the
10:48Super Bowl, but we can debate that for years to come.
10:52Didn't happen. He's coming back from a broken ankle.
10:55And Davis Webb is calling plays tonight. Bucky, that's different, not Sean Payton.
10:59Yeah, really, really different. Sean Payton is one of the best play calls that we've seen.
11:05In the National Football League. So he's handing over the call sheet to Davis Webb.
11:10Davis Webb has a nice connection with Bo Nix.
11:13Talk about being his quarterback coach, knowing him very, very well.
11:17Remember last year, Bo Nix had seven fourth quarter comebacks.
11:20Davis Webb understands that Bo Nix plays really, really well when he's operating in fast tempo.
11:26Look for the Broncos to jump in tempo. Play a little faster at times to allow Bo Nix to get into that rhythm.
11:34Because when he gets into that rhythm, he is very effective.
11:37I think we'll see a mix of run pass from Bo Nix.
11:41But we know when the game is on the line, they can put the ball in his hands and let him go to work.
11:50Yeah, it is wild that Davis Webb, who was just like at the senior bowl as a quarterback like five minutes ago.
11:57The guy's 31 years old, is calling plays tonight for Bo Nix.
12:01Bucky Brooks, Mike Am, Trevor Sykema coming up right here.
12:05Don't go anywhere after we wrap up NFL game day preview to get you ready.
12:10Thank you, Bucky, for a Monday Night Football coming up next.
12:14However, on this show, the NFL Report. Did the Packers give the game away or did the Vikings take it?
12:20Scott Hansen is here. Yes, really, right here, next.
12:23I'm Brett Coleman. And I'm Trevor Sykema. Have you ever watched a game and wondered what really made the difference beyond the final score?

13:39The new NFL season is here, and you should be listening to NFL Daily as we march along to Super Bowl 61.
13:46Last year, we had Mike McDonald, Sam Darnold on the field after the game, but that was last year.
13:53If you're a football sicko like me, NFL Daily is your kind of show.
13:57It is in the name, NFL Daily, fresh content in your feed every day, all season long.
14:03Matthew Stafford coming off his MVP season. On a dazzling dart from Matthew Stafford.
14:08Big time trades that shake up the NFL. A.J.
14:11Brown is loose! And of course, those Seahawks trying to run it back and win another Lombardi trophy.
14:17The Seahawks win Super Bowl 60! They are bringing the Lombardi back to the Northwest!
14:22If it's happening on a football field, NFL Daily will cover it.
14:26Listen to NFL Daily on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

15:33Williams 4 for 4 on the drive. Pumps. Pressured.
15:36Gets away from the traffic. Wide open space! His second rushing touchdown of the day, and Chicago takes the lead.
15:43Ties the longest run of his NFL career, and he finds paid hurt to put Chicago in front.
15:49That game was fun. This is going to be fun too, friends.
15:53Look what we're doing here. That game had 96 points.
15:57Yeah. There were a lot of points scored yesterday.
16:00This is Scott Hanson. Good to see you. You probably saw that play.
16:04Good to see you, by the way. Happy New Year, sir.
16:08Right back at you. Happy Football New Year. You probably saw that on NFL Red Zone yesterday.
16:14Scott is here for his three takeaways from Red Zone.
16:17By the way, should we do the Spider-Man meme first?
16:20Oh, okay. Wait. This is like Twin Powers activate.
16:24The original. The original. Got to give him his respect right there.
16:28Great to be with you on this show. Great to have you here, sir.
16:32Great to talk and great to start this season.
16:35I know. We like the offense. We like the touchdowns.
16:3996 points in that game. That game alone, we had 10 teams that scored 30 or more points.
16:45We are going into Monday Night Football 42 points away from the all-time greatest, highest scoring week one in the 107 years of the NFL.
16:54That's right. And if we all watched the primetime games on Wednesday and Thursday, we didn't think we'd be here.
17:00That Seattle-New England game was kind of slow going.
17:03It was punt zone for a while, right? Then San Francisco, Los Angeles, Niners did their thing on offense, but the Rams were sluggish on offense.
17:12We didn't expect to see that. Then all of a sudden Sunday hit and it was off to the races.
17:19Not only touchdowns being scored. Listen to the names.
17:22We both play fantasy, right? My fantasy team 0-2 by the way.
17:26It's 0-2 already? Well, I mean... I'm assuming it's not...
17:30Unless Bo Nix and Jalen Waddell and the Broncos defense all go off tonight.
17:35Okay. Go ahead. But Derrick Henry, three touchdowns. Jameer Gibbs, two touchdowns.
17:39Amon Ross St. Brown, Josh Allen, Caleb Williams, Jonathan Taylor, Justin Jefferson, Ashton Gentry scoring as well.
17:44Multiple touchdowns. The big names in fantasy coming through like this.
17:48The NFL, I'm going to say, couldn't have scripted it any better to start a season.
17:5450 points per game we are averaging in these week one games so far.
17:58Fun, fun stuff. 702 points total with one game to go when we record this.
18:04Yeah. The flip side of that is there were teams that played defense.
18:08Like the Bengals spent money on defense and it actually worked.
18:12So far, so good. They out hit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
18:16The Bengals were one of the bottom five defenses statistically across the board in 2025.
18:21Used a lot of draft capital and resources. Free agency, the trade with Sexy Dexy and whatnot.
18:26The new guys paying dividends here. Four forced fumbles against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, including a scoop and score.
18:33The Bengals hadn't had a scoop and score in four years.
18:37Got one yesterday in week one. Four sacks. Some of the new names, Brian Cook, Boye Mafé paying dividends.
18:43Dexter Lawrence ate up a bunch of double teams as well.
18:47The Buccaneers ended up scoring 27 points, but this was a 21-3 game, kind of approaching halftime right here.
18:53If the Bengals fixed their defense. If, if, if.
18:56If, one game. One game. But if they fix their defense and we know what they've got on offense.
19:03Look out for a surprise team in the AFC.
19:06How about look out for the Vikings in the fourth quarter?
19:10Oh my goodness. That was one of those games.
19:13Lions Saints being one of the other ones as well, where you go, yeah, that thing's over.
19:19And then all of a sudden 29 unanswered by the Vikings.
19:22Do we credit Carson Wentz for coming in and, in, in relief pitching?
19:27Or do we credit a flame throwing, fast ball throwing defensive coordinator?
19:31I'd go Brian Flores if you're right. Brian Flores?
19:34I'd go Brian Flores. I saw, I, okay, we're, we're looking at the offense right now here.
19:40And Justin Jefferson, welcome back Justin Jefferson. We, you, you were in the waste, in the, in the, wandering in the desert
19:47for, for five months of the season last year.
19:50JJ's back. He still has a cape as evidenced by that outstretched arm.
19:55But the defense, Brian Flores blitzed, depending on how you calculate blitz rate, somewhere in the high 70%.
20:01Like 79%. Low 80% of blitz rate. The average in the NFL is like 40% or less.
20:07He's at 80, basically, in this week one. Mad scientist and it paid off.
20:12They shook up the Packers in the second half and fourth quarter in particular.
20:16He kind of put Matt LaFleur in a blender there.
20:20And as you say about Justin Jefferson getting into the end zone here, Kevin O'Connell said Monday, there's a reason Justin Jefferson comes out of the tunnel last.
20:29Okay. Because you expect him to do those things.
20:32You give him the big ovation. He is the big star.
20:36But Brian Flores defense. Yeah. A star. How about this one?
20:40If we peek ahead to week two, we get Brian Flores calling a defense against Ben Johnson calling the offense for the Chicago Bears.
20:48A couple of mad scientists in their bag in week two.
20:52That should be fun. Watch him. NFL Red Zone week two.
20:56Coming up next Sunday. That was on the 20th.

21:23Terms and conditions apply because they always do. We have more highlights.
21:27Let's get to Cincinnati. Cincinnati. Baker Mayfield 3-0 against Joe Burrow.
21:31Did you know that going back to the Browns days?
21:34Granted, he doesn't have Denzel Ward. He doesn't have Miles Garrett.
21:38And he didn't have his eyes on the football.
21:41He turned the ball over a lot. The Cincinnati defense forced four turnovers.
21:45Baker had three fumbles. This is Demetrius Knight. The fumble returned Scott just mentioned the scoop of the score.
21:52Miles Murphy and Barrett Carter had the sack, but Baker can still use his legs and he can hold on inside the five.
22:00This time he held on inside the five. The rushing touchdown to get him to within one score with three minutes to go.
22:07All Joe Burrow had to do though was kill the clock.
22:11Look at the clock. 2-13. It's second down. He's got to throw.
22:15He's going to hit Tee Higgins for 18 yards.
22:18That is absurd. They each had a timeout. The two-minute warning as well.
22:23That is arm arrogance. That is aggressive play calling.
22:26And that is a Bengal victory. 33-27 over the 0-1 now.
22:30Baker and the Bucs. Meantime, in Indianapolis in the AFC North.
22:33New head coach, Jesse Minner. New play caller, Declan Doyle for Lamar Jackson, who looks the same.
22:39I mean, it's absurd. Zay Flowers, 54-yard touchdown. He had five for a buck 50 and he sat out the second half with a hamstring injury.
22:48They say the hammy is okay. Sure. Okay. Five for 150 and a touchdown.
22:53There's also still Derrick Henry to play with. 144 yards and three touchdowns for Derrick Henry.
22:58Some difficult conversations in Indianapolis after this game got ugly quickly.
23:0241-23 the final score. And now Derrick Henry is climbing up the all-time rushing touchdown list.
23:07He is at 123, which is 22 behind LaDainian Tomlinson.
23:11I don't know how many yards this guy had today.
23:14A bunch. But he moved into third all-time in rushing touchdown, Derrick Henry.
23:19And look, enjoy this one. This is the first one, man.
23:23I told y'all. Every time we step on that field, we gotta go out there and dominate.
23:28Anybody we play, we gotta get dealt with. Indy was first, bro.
23:32One more, coach. Okay. This guy's got the greatest winning percentage in the history of the national football.
23:39First, Kuhl Rant win, Jesse Min. Ah! All right, let's get a break.
23:43All right, Ravens on three. Ravens on three. One, two, three.
23:47Ravens! Go, baby! Go, man! Ravens offense looked great.
23:50Neither the Falcons nor the Steelers can say the same.
23:53Because they both offensively look offensive. If you're going for EPA expected points added, what Nick Shook would call a nerd number,
24:01these were the two worst offenses in the entire National Football League in week one.
24:06But Aaron Rodgers can hit Pat Friermuth here. The Falcons had a lead.
24:10Cooper Rush to Bijon Robinson. Two is back. Not good.
24:14Cooper Rush is back. Not good. But Cooper Rush had to play.
24:18And this pass, not good. TJ Watt! Pick six!
24:21He's breaking tackles. He's a former high school tight end.
24:24He's into the end zone. And the Steelers can celebrate a victory.
24:28They won. Mike McCarthy won. Everybody is happy. However, offensively, oaks for this one.
24:33Offensively, also bad for Deshaun Watson and the Browns.
24:36Although he's still the starting quarterback. More on that coming up shortly.
24:40Browns opening drive started well. Nice kick return. A couple of completions there in Jags territory.
24:46And then Deshaun gets picked off by Foye Aluokin, the leading tackler for your Jacksonville Jaguars returning tackler.
24:52And then he hands the ball to Trevor Lawrence.
24:55And you look at the score already. It's 24 to nothing here.
24:59Trevor Lawrence had himself a day. How about four touchdown passes?
25:03How about that? Jacoby Myers back at the end zone.
25:06Browns played zone all day. Didn't make sense. Jaguars run him out of the building.
25:1134 to 10, the final score. And he is still the starting quarterback.
25:16I did think that when he had time, when he understood the concepts, he didn't play tentative.
25:22That he let it rip. And, you know, even the touchdown at the end.
25:26Sure, that was garbage time. But that was on their one corner.
25:31I mean, that was one of their starters out there.
25:34And that was a communication between him and the receiver.
25:37So there was a lot of things to build on.
25:41Was it perfect? Of course not. Otherwise, we wouldn't have scored as few points as we did.
25:47But I'd like to see how we can build on that.
25:50I liked his week of practice last week. And I think he's only going to continue to get better.
25:57Browns in Tampa next Sunday to play Baker and the Bucs.
26:01We are in New York coming up next on the NFL Report to show you how John Harbaugh engineered a week one
26:08Giants win over the alleged improved Cowboys defense. Next.
26:11You're watching the NFL Report, everybody. Of all the stunners, this was probably the most stunning.
26:17Jim Harbaugh on the Chargers. Mike McDaniel, new OC.
26:20They're going to waltz all over the Cardinals who won three games a year ago.
26:25Yeah, that didn't happen. Here's Jacoby Brissett, Jake Brisket to Trey McBride.
26:29And look at the score. Look at the clock.
26:32The Chargers are down double digits at home. Actually, it's nine points, not double digits.
26:37But whatever. You get my point. It was stunning.
26:40Just stunning. Justin Herbert's getting picked off. The Chargers are losing.
26:44Tip of the cap to Mike LaFleur. You beat Jim Harbaugh.
26:48We made some preseason type of mistakes, you know.
26:51And, you know, I, now in retrospect, you know, we should play our guys a little bit more in the preseason and give them those reps.
27:00But those game-like reps. So, yeah. John fared better than Jim Harbaugh.
27:04John Harbaugh made his Giants debut year two for Jackson Dart.
27:089-11 commemoration before the game. All the emotions here in New York.
27:12And Cam Scadaboos return as well. He would do the flip as he gets into the end zone of the Giants.
27:19Have an early lead over the Cowboys Sunday night football.
27:227-0. Dak Prescott, however, would not go away easily.
27:25Here he hits CeeDee Lamb. Here we have a tie game.
27:29This is your classic Sunday night NFC East week one game.
27:33But the Giants new defense, rather the Cowboys new defense, forgot to play defense.
27:38Devin Singletary there from Jackson Dart. And then Isaiah likely got in the end zone.
27:43And then John Harbaugh gets himself a win and a resounding one.
27:4728-20. Earlier in the day in the late window in the NFC East, Eagles up 24-16.
27:52Jayden Daniels would rally him back, throws the touchdown, and sets up the two-point conversion here.
27:58That's the rookie Antonio Williams. What do you do for the two-point conversion?
28:02You throw the Andy Reid shovel pass to Bates, the tight end, to John Bates.
28:07That didn't work. Moro Ojomo sniffs it out, and the Eagles escape with a victory.
28:1224-22 over the tough fighting commanders. In that game, Landon Dickerson didn't look the same.
28:18Dickerson said he got rolled up on practice a couple of weeks ago.
28:22Shouldn't have been playing to the Eagles moments ago.
28:25Put him on IR. He's going to be out at least four games.
28:30Clint Kubiak says there is a chance maybe Brock Bowers is back.
28:34He didn't say that. He said, actually, day-to-day. But my favorite clip of the week, hands down, is this.
28:40Cam Skadaboo in the locker room after the game, after the Giants' victory.
28:45Jameis Winston putting on cologne for what seemed like an hour and a half.
28:49This is not on a loop. This is just Jameis putting on cologne.
28:54Nine sprays of cologne. And tip of the cap to Tyler Owens with the most maniacal special teams rep.
29:00That we saw the entire week. Tyler Owens fought through five guys.
29:04And then had a body slam on the returner at the end.
29:08That's a show. I'm out of breath because we spoke really fast to get everything in.
29:14Thanks to Scott Hanson. Thanks to Bucky Brooks. My name is Andrew Siciliano.
