1:09Another star, another injury. The latest on Nick Boats' app, how long he could be out, and why the IR may not be an option.
1:16One star out, another is in. Great news for the Seahawks.
1:19Got the details on Sam Darnold's return. And we'll tell you what to expect from the wide receivers.
1:24Puka Nakua and Zay Flowers. Do we get an international Zay?
1:27It's going to be a major question because we get the first ever game in Rio.
1:32The party ready to go down. Lamar and Dak leading the two of the best offenses in the NFL.
1:38While you can absolutely expect fireworks. And welcome to a brand new edition of NFL Report.
1:42I'm Mike Hamm. My guy Nick Shook is going to be joining me in just a bit.
1:47Full analysis on a great slate of games. We've got game picks.
1:51We also got some injury updates as you set your fantasy lineups, and that's probably the best place to start.
1:57We go with our latest headlines, and it's always concerning if you are a San Francisco 49ers fan.
2:02Does our team stay healthy the entire season? That's not going to happen.
2:06Nick Bosa suffering a calf injury at practice this week.
2:08Could miss multiple weeks. Niners reportedly leaning towards not putting him on the injured reserve due to limited space.
2:14Only eight players can return from the IR, so the Niners will need to be strategic on who they actually put on that list.
2:21Here's their head coach, Kyle Shanahan. Yeah, losing both of us was rough yesterday.
2:25I mean, losing six out of the 10 D linemen in the last two weeks that have made our team is a little unusual.
2:32Don't think I've been a part of that, so that has been different.
2:36Can you clarify when Nick got hurt and how it happened?
2:39Just in his, he does his warm up deal right before walkthrough.
2:42He does his own warm up there on the side and just got his calf doing it.
2:47And that was yesterday? Yeah, right before practice. Have you spoken to him?
2:51How is he taking all this? I haven't talked to him directly.
2:55I know he's bummed out, but he'll be back.
2:57How long do you think, Kyle? Are we looking at a couple of weeks or is this months?
3:02I mean, we can't say exactly, but I'm guessing around a few weeks.
3:06A couple of weeks. That is definitely a bummer out again.
3:09Didn't see Puka on Monday night because of that hip injury.
3:13Sean McVay said he missed practice today. Doubtful for the matchup against the Broncos.
3:17Keep in mind, Devontae Adams, eight catches, 195 yards and two touchdowns on Monday night.
3:21We'll hear from Matthew Stafford in just a bit.
3:24We'll talk more extensively about that game. Meanwhile, the Houston Texans, their wide receiver, Nico Collins, did not practice Friday.
3:30He's been ruled out for the team's week three matchup against the Colts.
3:33Pro Bowler missed last week's game injury, though. Keep in mind, not as severe as that hamstring injury from 2024 when he
3:40landed on IR after week number five and then missed five games.
3:43So hopefully we will see him back on the field relatively soon.
3:47Lord knows that offense certainly could use him. Some great news for the champs after missing most of the first two games because that glute injury.
3:54Sam Darnold able to practice a bit this week.
3:57And according to Mike McDonald, he'll be back for the game against the commanders.
4:01What did you kind of need to see from Sam this week as he got back on the right this way?
4:07Really just to see him confident in the things that he's been doing.
4:11So he's been he's been really positive and says he feels great.
4:14So he looks great. So we're rolling. So it's a medical medical miracle.
4:18He's back. Yeah, there's some teams that would love to see their quarterback healthy.
4:22The commander certainly one of them. Dan Quinn spoke to the media today.
4:26So the good news, J.D. Daniels will not be placed on IR.
4:29He's week to week with that elbow injury. Now, the team will reevaluate after this week.
4:34And what it means is Marcus Mariota gets an opportunity to go against that dark side defense.
4:39Today is the day. Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart undergoing surgery to repair the MCL and the PCL.
4:44Surgery comes just four days after he got hurt Monday night against the Rams.
4:48Expected to be out four to six months. His boy, Cam Scadaboo, hoping for the continued support despite the bad news.
4:54Yeah, I mean, the fans got to show up.
4:57The crowd's got to be lit just like it was the first week.
5:00We have to have everybody's support just like we did week one.
5:04I think the entire city of New York still knows we have a really good shot at this.
5:09And they love James Winston. So we're not, you know, we're not going to take a step down.
5:14We're going to continue to push, continue to work.
5:17If we have our fan base with us, if they're giving everything they got towards us, I promise you they're going to
5:23get they're going to get everything from us. He's right.
5:26Who doesn't love James Winston? Brock Bowers officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints.
5:31He's been recovering from that knee injury, did not participate in practice on Friday, which was part of the team's plan, according to Clint Kubiak.
5:39I know there's a lot of fantasy owners keeping those fingers crossed.
5:42They will see him out on the football field very soon.
5:45Keeping tabs speaking from a fantasy perspective. Zay Flowers got some news on him in just a moment, but questionable with that hamstring injury.
5:52Remember, first half of week number one, Buck 50 had the touchdown.
5:56DJ Moore shoulder injury. He is questionable. An important game for the Bills, maybe more important from a Chargers perspective.
6:02Still looking for win number one on the season.
6:04Week number three, they all got a little TNF action last night.
6:08How about Michael Penix? Boy, oh boy. What it means to this offense to have a quarterback who can sling it just a bit.
6:1518 to 25 passing 256 yards had that touchdown and an interception on fourth and one here.
6:20Boy, this offense for the Green Bay Packers struggling and under pressure.
6:23Jordan Love felt a whole lot of heat. You look at some of the numbers that he's had and they've been abysmal when facing the blitz.
6:31John Robinson, 194 yards, two touchdowns, carrying the Atlanta Falcons to their first win of the season.
6:36It was an important one for Penix and company.
6:38Early on, you know, definitely after that interception, you know, I started feeling, started getting a rhythm and everything started clicking.
6:44Obviously, you know, with B. John and B. Rob, them boys running the ball, that helped everything in the pass game as well.
6:51So, you know, what they did has a lot to do with it as well.
6:55It's not a great feeling, you know, as an offense to have repeated drives that don't go anywhere.
7:00But at the end of the day, we got to still fight.
7:04You know, we've been in games before where we came back and it's all about continuing to fight.
7:09I think guys did that. But I think the execution is just, it's not where it needs to be at all.
7:15And we'll dig deep to see. But, you know, we're not making any big plays.
7:20You know, we got to find something that's going to bring the energy and, you know, we got to figure out what that's going to be.
7:27Well, a run game would help because that's been non-existent through the first three weeks of the season for Green Bay.
7:33Cowboys, they scored 37 points, 332 total yards after being held to 20 and 244 in week number one.
7:39So a boost for Dak in that offense. The defense, though, big story this offseason.
7:43The unit's still 29th in passing yards allowed. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer embracing the international experience.
7:48Thrilled to be here in Rio and excited about our preparation or finishing our preparation, I would say, for what's going to
7:54be a great game against the Ravens. Really good team.
7:57Very talented. Trip in was pretty easy. Got set up at the hotel.
8:01And so we're executing the plan that we need to.
8:04And in terms of international games, Calvin, I've been a part, I think, six.
8:08And I think it's great for the game. You know, the game is global.
8:12It should be. We've got some incredible players and their stories are awesome and should be shared.
8:17Some ridiculous athletes to get to showcase their stills.
8:20You know, I was watching NFL report on Wednesday.
8:22Sikama, they played some sound. It was Lamar Jackson saying, you know, this is a business trip.
8:27This don't feel like a business trip. I don't blame them, though.
8:31Well, when Humphrey put this out on social media, you got to get that recovery in some good news, though, because you got to recover from practice.
8:38Right. Zay Flowers. You can see him in the distance.
8:41They are able to return to the practice field.
8:44Obviously missed last week's game because of that hamstring injury.
8:47Still questionable. Zay's quarterback, a two time MVP and a football star.
8:50But Lamar, well, he was asked about another football type of star.
8:54If you had to compare yourself with one football soccer player, I'm sorry, who would it be?
8:59That's crazy. That's a good question. I don't know.
9:01I don't know. It's a lot of great soccer players out here in the world.
9:06Maybe, maybe. I can't call it though. I don't know.
9:09What a new y'all? What a new y'all? Okay.
9:11Ah, them good names. Now, those good guys. I don't know.
9:14Whatever you guys want to compare me to. I'm cool with that.
9:18Okay. Okay. I'm cool with that. A superstar athlete who I think would actually make a pretty good soccer player.
9:24My buddy Nick Shook is with me right now.
9:26We'll get a little bit more on this matchup.
9:29We got a Cowboys team that's had some struggles defensively over the last year or so, and a Ravens team coming off of a loss.
9:36Who are you picking in this game? Well, I think it's going to have to be the Ravens, and it's because they can run the football.
9:44The Cowboys can't get a stop defensively. Yes, they won last week.
9:47Yes, they beat the Commanders by 17 points. But in the first half, Jayden Daniels is running all over this defense.
9:53And I believe to this day, and probably will forever, that if he hadn't gotten hurt, that would have been a one score game.
10:00This game, similar matchup, similarly mobile and dynamic quarterback in Lamar Jackson, but they got to give the ball to Derrick Henry
10:07because how did they lose last week? Well, three of their four second half drives lasted less than two minutes.
10:13Derrick Henry got five carries in the second half.
10:15You want to put this game away, you pound it on the ground, and then you finish it off on the ground.
10:22I actually like that game plan. I'm with you here.
10:24I'm going to roll with the Ravens as well.
10:27Reasoning just slightly different. I made reference to this earlier in the show.
10:31The Dallas Cowboys defensively against the pass, those error attacks have really struggled.
10:35And we always think about the ability of the Ravens to run the football.
10:39Reality is Lamar Jackson, this company, that dude can sling it.
10:42They can get up and down the field. If Zay Flowers is healthy.
10:46I actually like a high scoring game where they're able to effectively pass.
10:49Jacoby Land, the fact that he's out on IR doesn't help, but we did see Bateman, a guy that last week on
10:56the show you told me would actually have some success.
10:59So I think both of us on the same page, which is really becoming a theme with some of our game picks.
11:05We'll go through the entire slate coming up in just a bit.
11:09Meanwhile, we'll focus in on this Rams squad. Matthew Stafford and his team, well, they broke out Monday against the Giants.
11:15Sky through for 327 and four touchdowns in the win.
11:18They head to Denver. They get one of the best defenses in the NFL.
11:22Stafford knows advanced Joseph unit will provide a stiff challenge.
11:25Yeah, I mean, obviously really well coached. He's been doing it for a long time.
11:29You know, he's multiple and everything that they present to you.
11:32And then, you know, I think they have great players.
11:35You look at their front seven. It's really talented in both, you know, just disruption and getting after the passer.
11:41I think the, you know, the secondary is as good of one as we'll play all year, just from a versatility and talent standpoint.
11:48So it'll be a big challenge for us. He does a great job of putting those guys in position to succeed.
11:54And then those guys go out there and play hard for him.
11:57And I think Stafford always saying the right things, paying some homage to a defense that's been one of the better ones in the NFL.
12:05You like them in this game? I actually like the Rams in this game.
12:09And it's because the Broncos are just a little bit unpredictable through two weeks.
12:13They essentially you could throw a week one out.
12:15Actually, just throw out the window completely because it was week one.
12:19The second half of week two is when the Broncos became the Broncos again.
12:23Riley Moss getting the interception that swung the game in the favor of the Broncos.
12:27But can I trust them? I'm not really certain at this point.
12:31They did a great job of shutting down an explosive Jaguars offense in the second half comeback.
12:36But this is a Rams team that you don't want to fall behind early by getting off to a slow start, which
12:42is exactly what this offense has done over basically the last two years.
12:46Bo Nix is passer rating when they're tied or ahead is 75.2 way better when they're behind because the sense of urgency is there.
12:53So unless they start this game with a sense of urgency, I think the Rams are going to build on the momentum
12:59they built last week and win this one. There was urgency in week number two for this Rams team after the showing
13:06that we saw down under in Australia against the San Francisco 49ers.
13:09I'm with you. I'm going to roll with the Rams as well.
13:13We gave you the news before Puka doesn't look like he's going to be out on that field.
13:18That offense still got it going. It's almost like you forget that Devante Adams is a future Hall of Famer.
13:24The guy is absolutely spectacular. You saw it on display there.
13:27Now, I will say this. The Giants secondary was really banged up.
13:30We know Paulson Adebo was hurt. Banks is on on IR as well.
13:34So they were able to sort of feast here.
13:37I don't know if it's going to be as easy against the Broncos.
13:41In fact, I'd argue it won't be. But I do like the Rams.
13:44And again, I'm kind of with you, man. Like, actually, this is going to be a high scoring game.
13:50Once again, we'll go through the entire slate of games.
13:53Nick and I will continue to make our game picks.
13:56Our record is actually pretty strong. Don't look now, but Tyler Shuck is absolutely balling.
14:00You go back to last season and the start of this season just continues to rack up the yards.
14:06In fact, this year right now leading the NFL in passing yards.
14:09They get a Raiders team that's been clicking offensively.
14:12And of course, they're led by Captain Kirk. He obviously he got us a couple of times last year and he's still playing at a really high level.
14:20And I think this is going to be a great opportunity for us and as a whole team to come in and
14:26start off the right way at home. We got to be able to be dialed in.
14:31This is this is a really good football team.
14:34They're they're playing at a high level right now.
14:36So and especially him, he's clicking and he's he's seen it all.
14:40So I'm obviously a huge fan of him growing up.
14:43He's been he's he said some really cool words just talking to him after the game and also just who he is
14:49as a person as well as is is is really cool to see all the stuff that he's done in his career.
14:55So all that to be said, you know, we're going to be ready to go whenever we get that chance.
15:01It's going to be one of the more entertaining games of the weekend.
15:05Bangles one of eight undefeated teams remaining in the league right now.
15:08They're looking for their first three and oh start since 2015.
15:12Wow. It has been well chronicled some of the issues they've had on the defensive side, but they've been cooking and so
15:18is Joe Burrow who knows this win this week would be huge.
15:21It's always, you know, critical. You want to start out strong in the division.
15:26You know, these games are are worth a lot.
15:28So love that it's against Pittsburgh. Decide to go there and try to perform.
15:32That's always a tough place to play against a tough team.
15:35I enjoy watching Joe. You know, Joe's an accurate passer.
15:38He's been able to use his legs and get out and extend plays.
15:42And he's had a nice start to his career.
15:45He's got a bright future. Yeah, he has. You can see sort of the demeanor there from Rogers.
15:50This hasn't been a great start from Pittsburgh perspective.
15:53I feel like both of us like Cincinnati in this game.
15:56Yeah, definitely. And it's not just because the Bengals defense is really good.
16:00It's actually that they're better than the numbers suggest their eighth and yards allowed per game so far.
16:05And they're a unit that that's even stronger up front.
16:08It's Dexter Lawrence shutting down the Texans on fourth and one in week two.
16:12It's it's the whole front really coming together and then helping out the back.
16:16And that was already strong. It's Demetrius Knight at the second level.
16:19It's Barrett Carter. It's boy, a mafia. You can continue on the list.
16:23Jonathan Allen looks like he's five years younger playing in this defense.
16:27And I think that will be the best counter possible to an offense that's really bad.
16:31The Steelers are 31st in points per game. They're 30th in yards per game.
16:35Rogers has some of the worst passing numbers since he became the starter of the Packers in 2008.
16:41And his top target second worst in the NFL with 15 plus targets in reception rate.
16:45So nothing is going well for this offense right now.
16:48They can't run the football effectively and they're running into a team with a defense that's better than the numbers suggest.
16:54I think the Bengals take this one. You would you say 30th in terms of offense for Pittsburgh?
16:59Just for context that they're scoring under 12 points per game.
17:03The ranking is bad. The raw number also not good from this perspective.
17:06I like Cincinnati as well. By the way, I'm glad you bring up that defense for whatever it's worth.
17:12Bengals right now one of three teams have multiple players with at least 10 pressures.
17:16I can't believe we're talking about this Cincinnati team being that good defensively coupled with the fact that the offense we never question.
17:23I mean, you got guys like Jamar Chase, Tee Higgins, both of these guys having really good seasons to start out.
17:29And in fact, Chase maybe gave us the catch of the year.
17:33Maybe the best one that we're going to see for the rest of the campaign.
17:37Hopefully that's not the case because we like to get entertained, but I'm with you.
17:41I don't know if Pittsburgh can keep that offense in check.
17:44And I think this this thing might be like a really one sided affair, maybe even a dominant victory, which is weird to say, considering that division.
17:522-0 and you get your quarterback one back. Hello.
17:55Carson Wentz did a terrific job for the injured Kyler Murray, but he's going to be back getting the start against the Bucks.
18:02A couple of former Oklahoma quarterbacks, a couple Sooners facing each other and Baker Mayfield.
18:06Well, Kyler's a fan. That's my guy. You know, I got to see him, you know, every day in college.
18:12So, you know, I respect the hell out of Baker and what he's been through and what type of player he is in person.
18:19He is. You know, they showed me the comment that he said about, you know, why people don't like me or whatever.
18:25But I said I'd say the same about him.
18:28So I think we're both competitors and we're going to do anything to win.
18:32So sometimes I might rub people the wrong way.
18:34But he's nice. Great dude. Great dude. And, you know, fierce competitor.
18:38That's all you like. You go to war with a guy like that every single day.
18:43A couple of Heisman guys here, 2017, 2018, when those guys were able to take home that hardware leaving New York.
18:49I don't know. You tell me, man. Like this feels like desperation time for Tampa Bay.
18:53You like Minnesota though. Yeah. Backs against the wall for the Buccaneers who started off 0-2 and don't really look like they
19:00have much of an offense that's any good. And yet we run into a Vikings team that is all defense first.
19:06And you think, well, okay, that spells a win for the Vikings, but it might be a sneaky good matchup for the Bucs.
19:13Baker Mayfield against the Blitz is first in completion percentage, but he's only faced Blitzes on 16 dropbacks this year.
19:18And I think those numbers are a little bit inflated because while he's getting the ball out quickly against the Blitz and
19:25completing passes, he also has the highest percentage of passes behind the line of scrimmage of any quarterback in the NFL.
19:31So if you can shut down the stuff underneath, if you're Brian Flores' defense, and if you can mix up enough exotic
19:37pressure looks that confuses this offensive line that's still pretty good, and make Baker hesitate for just a second, then I think
19:44he can come away with a victory and force some turnovers because that's what he's struggled with so far through two weeks, turning the football over.
19:51He had the fumbles in week one. He threw a pick in week two.
19:55He's got to be better. And this defense does not give him a good opportunity to be better.
20:0018 giveaways through the first two weeks of the season for Baker Mayfield.
20:04Ty, for the second most in the NFL, you're 100% right.
20:07I think the point that you made in our production meeting earlier today about the Atlanta Falcons applies here.
20:13Desperate team. They were going on the road on TNF against the Green Bay Packers, who won 13 straight home openers.
20:19They got it done. I think the backs are against the wall for Baker and the squad.
20:24You mentioned the numbers against the Blitz, and you're right, small sample size.
20:28But if you zoom out and you go back to 2023, the guys got 33 passing touchdowns, six interceptions against the Blitz.
20:34That's the seventh most passing touchdowns against the Blitz during that span.
20:38So you're right. This season, I'm with you. The numbers, I think, tell one story.
20:42But I think macro, they got an opportunity here.
20:45I like Tampa Bay, and it's one of the few times we're going to go opposite sides here.
20:50We also took the opposite, although I'm kind of now rethinking this thing here, Texans and Colts.
20:55I'll say this. I gave the news before. Nico Collins doesn't look like he's going to be out there.
21:00That's going to be a factor in that game.
21:03And you know I'm still sticking with the G men.
21:06Meanwhile, the late matchups, well, it's just the Vikings and Buccaneers.
21:09This might be moving week. I think we're disagreeing on three games.
21:13I think three might be the most that we've disagreed on all season.
21:16So, look, this is time for us to separate.
21:19Somebody's got to take the lead. Yeah, I hope it's me, man.

21:4020 year anniversary. One of the most emotional moments in NFL history.
21:44Saints dome coming. It was their first game back.
21:46Newly reopened Superdome. You can see Steve Gleason kind of breaking through.
21:50Come on with the block. Gets recovered for a touchdown.
21:53We're talking about like 70,000 plus. Absolutely erupting in the game.
21:56And we're not just thinking about that moment, but the Gleason family as well as Steve as he continues to battle ALS.
22:02But God, I remember watching that just, I mean, it's kind of crazy.
22:06Meanwhile, here's a look at the schedule remaining games.
22:09By the way, we will get you set at 1130 a.m.
22:12Eastern time here on the NFL channel. I'm going to be hanging with Nelson Aguilar for game day preview.
22:17Of course, we'll get you on all the earlier games.
22:20And yeah, we'll sprinkle in a little bit of the afternoon matchups.
22:24Eagles Bears, by the way, QB one for Chicago.
22:26Still waiting to find out how that's going to look.
22:29Time for burning questions. Got an opportunity to put this dude in the hot seat.
22:34When I think about Kenneth Walker, he is, God, I talked to you after week number one.
22:39He's completely changed. Kansas City's offense can keep this workload up though.
22:42That's what's concerning because he has, he's on pace for an incredible amount of touches.
22:46476 touches at this rate right now. And he leads the NFL in rushing yards with 369, well scrimmage yards.
22:52Second most by a player in the first two games with a team in the Super Bowl era.
22:57So he's been the perfect addition to the Chiefs.
23:00But if he keeps that pace up, he'll have the most touches.
23:04The second most touches in NFL history of the most is Larry Johnson with 457 in 2006.
23:08The next three guys, Eddie George, Ladanian Tomlinson, Edron James, all did it in the early 2000s.
23:13The game has changed significantly since then. Luckily they like their second running back, Emmitt Johnson, plenty.
23:18And of course you have Patrick Mahomes running everything behind center.
23:22So I think that they'll be fine. Andy Reid is too smart of a coach and too experienced to let this go as it currently is.
23:29255, by the way, his career high in terms of some of those touches so well past that pace.
23:35But you mentioned this to me. He wanted to be in Kansas City because he wanted to be the dude.
23:40He is expecting that. Chargers, one of the more disappointing teams, still looking for win number one.
23:45Can they get it done in Buffalo? I sure hope so.
23:49I think they're going to have their backs against the wall in this one.
23:53And that should benefit them because this is a team that cannot afford to go 0-3.
23:57Yes, they're playing Buffalo. Yes, it's going to be a challenge.
24:00But they understand that the way they started this season is just not up to their standard.
24:05They don't look like a Jim Harbaugh coach team.
24:08And they're also making a little bit of unfortunate history.
24:11They're the second team in NFL history to lose back-to-back home games by double digits against teams that had sub 200 winning percentages in the previous season.
24:19They joined the 1926 Racing Tornadoes, who played one more game after that and then folded.
24:23And the team that put them out of their misery, Curly Limbaugh's Green Bay Packers.
24:28So they got it. It's obviously not that dire, but they got to get back on track history lesson from Nick.
24:34Here's what I can guarantee you. The Chargers are not going to fold as I mean as like an organization.
24:40But they're going to be good from that perspective.
24:42Saints Raiders. I think this can be one of the more entertaining games of the week who wins.
24:48I'm very excited to see who wins and I'm going to go with the Saints.
24:52That's my NFC South division champion pick from the start of the season.
24:56I believe in Tyler Shuck. It's no knock on the Raiders to have played very scrappy football.
25:01This is two scrappy teams, but Tyler Shuck has the clutch gene.
25:04And I think if they find themselves in a similar scenario against the Raiders with that home cooking at their advantage, I
25:11think they'll end up winning this game. God, I just like the fact that we could talk about the Raiders and Saints
25:17as two quality football teams at this point. They matter.
25:20They matter, especially the Raiders. They matter as of now.
25:23I still think the Saints are the team to be in that division.
25:26I don't know if I'm quite ready to say that about the Raiders, but nonetheless, it should be a good one.
25:33By the way, you can ask him all the burning questions when it comes to the NFL.
25:38Before the show, I say Mount Rushmore of musicians.
25:40The dude can't answer the question. He said it's a weekend.
25:43He wants to do genres. I need the entire weekend to figure this out.
