0:00attempting to win $1 million in a fantasy football draft in the month of May. Theo Grimager and Scott Barrett back in the FFPC streets right after
0:09this. Let's get it.
0:18That's him. That's the OG.
0:27>> All right. So, Scott, we are in the midst of a $350 entry big gorilla draft over at FFPC. Anybody who hasn't been in
0:36this contest, the name has changed over the years, but the uh the idea is the same. It's the biggest fantasy contest
0:43there is, it's a milliondoll uh grand prize, and the I think the the pool is like 5.8 million or something like that
0:51in prizes. So, finishing second, finishing third would be great. You still also win money for the regular season, but the idea is to get into the
1:00postseason. Uh what do you think about drafting in May? This is this is is this your earliest reddraft entry in in a
1:07while?
1:08>> Yeah, I I love this. Uh so FFPC is a sponsor, but even before they were sponsor, I was always saying this is my
1:15favorite format to draft in. I love reddraft start sit tight end premium double flex with a $1 million grand prize that we're chasing. And guys, it's
1:26possible to win that if you're really good at fantasy like we are. If you're a fantasy point subscriber, you have a
1:31real chance at winning it. Habib Agatoba, good friend, good friend of our show. We've had him on. We're going to have him on again. He won the grand
1:40prize two years in a row. Just an absolute sicko. I think first year he drafted 30 teams. second year. I think
1:47he drafted 50 teams. Um, but yeah, it folks, it's a it's a skill game and uh we had quite a bit of success last year
1:57teaming up uh and drafting these teams uh two years in a row, you know, winning our league and then having a real shot
2:06in the the tournament rounds, the bonus rounds. I will say it's also been really frustrating. It's a stylistic
2:15difference. I feel like I feel like I draft like a man and you draft like a herd animal. You're just >> That's a completely opposite. You draft
2:26like somebody who you you you have a certain type and we're going to go through it in in the over the show, but
2:32yeah, this is sort of a warm-up for me.
2:34>> It's cuz No, no. It's cuz you're I get it. you're drafting 50 different teams and so you're paying special attention
2:42to costs and not overpaying, you know, having your you dollar cost averaging, making sure you're you're I don't know, the prices you're getting on these guys
2:52isn't exorbitant. Um, but I don't know.
2:55I I feel like you're a slave to ADP and I just want to you got to let me ball. I know ball. Let me go after my guys.
3:01>> That's a strong statement. First of all, you're going to get some of my guys over the next week or so. We're going live
3:07over here at Fantasy Points YouTube. One of the first shows I'm gonna do is a My Guys episode for each and every uh
3:12round. Um I'm also like I'll say Scott, this is sort of a little warm-up for me.
3:17I'm in the Hardway draft. So for like these $350 FFPC leagues, there's one called the Hardway, which is an invitation only. I finally got in the
3:27league like five years ago. It was one where you really wanted to get in. I finally got in the league like five
3:33years ago. the same year as a BB baga.
3:36The two of us were in the in the draft together. Uh shout out to Billy Musio.
3:40He was led in that year. He's out of the sort of out of this the game at this point. But it's like Dave Hubard, one of
3:46the best ever to do it in fantasy football. He's still drafting. He's he's won a number of like high-profile events. Austin Martin, who's a friend of
3:54fantasy points, he took down the big postseason contest, probably the best dynasty manager uh in the FFPC streets.
4:00He's in that one. And then you mentioned Abib was a back-to-back winner of of the 350. The Go Bills guys are also so Shawn
4:09and Dom and and those guys, they're they're in the the Hardway draft as well. They took down the main event twice. So that's like big shout out to
4:17the Go Bills guys for doing that. I'm in that on Friday night. We're going to cover it right here on this channel. But
4:22I agree with you to an extent where like I'm I'm more locked into ADP um this time of year. I want to be able to get
4:29good price points on guys. I don't want to reach on guys when and I think that's where we really kind of differentiate is
4:35I think at this point in the year you want to reach to get your guys where I think it's sort of like the the cost
4:41benefit doesn't go into it for me to take a guy a round and a half early when I know I'm going to get access to him in
4:47the sixth round. I don't need to take him in the fifth round. That sort of thing. and we argue about it and I'll
4:52say like we we've won main events together uh for not the overall but we've taken down main event leagues back-to-back years now. Uh we've also we
5:01split one with a beeb. We won that one last year. Meu and Rich had a 350 that was really really good that we ended up
5:08crapping out because of injuries. We lost so many guys on that team. So like I think us arguing about the picks, it
5:15helps tighten up the the draft process as we get into like the big money months. We'll probably do our first main
5:20event maybe what like July July 1st Scott I think by the time we get in there we're sort of in lock step. You
5:26are very tied into your conviction this time of year which I feel like is a very dangerous game. You also have injury
5:34optimism that I don't always share and we're going to sort of dive into it a little bit. You also love a certain
5:40player that we're going to talk about uh not only on this show, but when we review our Dynasty startup. Scott and I
5:46are also in a $750 entry FFPC trilex uh startup draft. We're going to review that. You can check that out out over on
5:54Fantasy Points Dynasty YouTube uh which has been growing exponentially almost at 3,000 subs over there. And shout out to people watching this show. We're going
6:03for 25,000 uh subs for this channel sometime hopefully in the month of June.
6:09Uh so we're going to keep keep rocking and rolling. Let's talk about this draft. Draft starts out Bejian Robinson at the 101. We get the 102 and we are
6:17thrilled to get the 101 or the 102 this year because you have like these weapons of mass destruction. But I know when my
6:23top 50 PPR rankings come out, I'm going to have Jir Gibbs at the very top. Where are you at for like your 101 right now?
6:31Um, are you with Gibbs over Bejon? Is there another player you're kind of throwing into the mix here? For me, these two guys are just really a strong
6:39edge at the top.
6:40>> Yeah, I'm with you. I think it's Gibbs.
6:42And I'm kind of confused that why that's not consensus. Uh, I think you put it perfectly on your episode with Graham
6:50breaking down all 32 backfields. Highly recommend that. It's a two-hour long episode, but it's excellent. Um you you were like yeah this this could be a year
7:00where Jir Gibbs is outscoring quarterbacks. He's you know just one of those players you can't win without. You remove David Montgomery from the
7:07equation and it's a guy who whenever David Montgomery was hurt was average was was Christian McAffrey. He was putting up I don't know uh I think in
7:16games David Montgomery played fewer than 35% of the snaps something like that. He averages like 28.9 fantasy points per game which is just insane. And so yeah,
7:27Jir Gibbs, I think I think the 101 is a great spot to be and for us even better if you're the 102 and Gibbs falls to
7:34you.
7:34>> Yeah, the 102 getting Gibbs is fantastic and it seems like a micro edge, Scott, but I feel like I'd rather be in that
7:41210 211 range. A lot of times it feels like you get sniped when you're at the 101. That 23 turn is a little weird on
7:49underdog. I found myself doubletapping Trey McBride and Jeremiah Love a lot like in those baseball drafts and I feel like that might end up being the wrong
7:57move. Doubletapping Arizona and FFPC you don't really have to worry about that.
8:01But that's a whole another show. The two of us I think will cover how to draft from the 101, how to draft from like the
8:0712 spot which I think are always interesting in terms of draft strategy.
8:11But we're thrilled we get Jamir Gibbs.
8:13And I think also another thing Jamir Gibbs opens you up to it opens you up to a million different builds. You can
8:20legitimately go hero RB and not attack your RB2 for several rounds. You can also get a huge edge at the RB2 spot.
8:29And we'll talk about that in a minute.
8:31Some of the picks that went after Jir Gibbs, nothing really shocking. Jamar Chase goes at the three. Christian McAffrey goes at the four, which is
8:38slightly higher. Uh, usually we see Pukanakua, Jackson Smith, and Jigba at like the four and the five spot. They go uh five and six. Then you see Trey
8:48McBride at the seven. Uh, Brock Bowers ends up going at the 10. So, the two big tight ends go in round one. Then we
8:55start talking about our queue. We set up like sort of our ideal scenarios for the end of round two. And I think we were
9:03sort of in lock step that the edge picks would be another strong running back there because a lot of the highest
9:11upside running back options sort of dry up. Um or going with Coloulston Lovelin, a player who we might need to chill out
9:19on Scott since we're drafting him so much and we're going to end up with like we're going to end up with like a sicko
9:25dollar amount of Coloulston Lovelin if we're not careful. I'm so deep in the weeds in Coloulston Lovelin in terms of dynasty exposure right now uh that if he
9:33gets injured this year, it's going to like affect my win rates in a major way, but I don't care because I feel like
9:38he's the edge that could break fantasy, especially in a tight end premium format like the FFPC. So, the two of us
9:45considered Coloulston Lovelin, then we also said Kenneth Walker and Jeremiah Love, and then we talked about Bree Hall. Uh so, we were sort of in lock
9:54step there. When you look at the board, is there a wide receiver you wish you would have taken over Lovelin or a
10:00running back or do you feel like Lovelin structurally made a lot of sense and also from an upside perspective really helped us out drafting him at the 211?
10:09Uh yeah, this was the same thing as our $750 Dynasty League where like maybe there was a different move we could have
10:17made like a more plus EV decision balancing positional value and what but like the sexy fun pick is absolutely Coulson Lin and so I have no regrets
10:27here. You really look at what he did at the tail end of last season double digit targets in four straight games to close
10:33out the year. He was their alpha number one receiver. This is a tight end premium format. This was, you know, an
10:42exceptional talent. Um, and yeah, so I I like this, you know, very late round two tight end premium and we're now looking
10:52in round seven and, you know, I I really like our team and I think that was, you know, he fits perfectly. what what I
10:58meant by the the plus EV thing I is I will just say I've drafted a ton of these FFPC uh main event and big gorilla teams over
11:06the years and I've had my most success punting tight end and then like taking a quantity over quality approach so it's
11:15kind of unique for me to draft a tight end this early. Uh but yeah, like I said, no regrets. Really liking how this
11:21team looks right now.
11:22>> Yeah, me too. And there was nothing really surprising inside of round two.
11:26Uh names like Chase Brown and Ashton Genty go off the board at the beginning of round two. CD Lamb and Justin
11:32Jefferson went off the board uh at the at the 13 and the 14 overall. Drake London, who I think we're both into at
11:4015. Like there's no surprises here. The only surprise that I think um Rashi Rice, Nico Collins taking them inside of round two um sort of ahead of the
11:50Kenneth Walkers, Coloulston Lovelin, Jeremiah Loveier. To me, I don't see an edge in either one of those players. Was there any picks that stood out to you in
11:59round two where you're like, I probably wouldn't have gone in that direction.
12:05Um, well, this doesn't really answer your question, but what really stood out to me was, yeah, Chase, Devon Han going late round one, Chase at the 111, Chase
12:16Brown going uh early round two, and just thinking to myself, if I'm the 112 and I could get Han and Chase Brown, that like
12:25two guys who profile to me is like Christian McCaffrey Light, uh, that's awesome. So, like last year the 112 seemed really gross. uh this year it's
12:34it's pretty sexy to me.
12:36>> Yeah, completely agree on that.
12:38>> Ashton GT too is a you know another guy who who who could be like if he gets the what is it 16% target share he had last
12:45year and 2 uh 25 carries and the Raiders aren't as incompetent god awful as they were last year. The offensive line
12:54progresses a little bit to the mean. Um you know he's he's kind of that same that same caliber.
13:01>> I'm with you. I think when if I'm drafting at the 12 and I'm in another one of these slow drafts, I hopped in
13:06one more slow draft to get ready for the hard way. Um, and I have the 12. That's a slow one. I think it's running back
13:12running back from the 12 hole. Um, it's really difficult to pass up on like those huge names like Jefferson and Lamb. And if you want to tell me I'm
13:20going to take Justin Jefferson at the 12, that's your draft strategy. I'm not going to argue with you. But I think if
13:24you look at the way that the board kind of falls, getting a James Cook, a Devon Achan, Ashton Genty, even an Omarian
13:32Hampton, Chase Brown there, I have that like predictable volume on a weekly basis and a chance to get 40 points out
13:40of my running backs. And if I'm trying to play catch-up at running back this year, I like Cam Scataboo at the 34
13:47turn, which I know is a guy you Yeah.
13:48Listen, listen. I podcast with you too many times. I like Cam Scataboo now a lot. I think he's going to come up to
13:53the mid third if he's healthy. So like I think there's going to be fewer options at the 34 turn. So just keep that one in
14:00mind. We take Loveland at the 211. And it's funny uh there's a drafter drafting at like the 101 that we've been sort of
14:08been able to predict all of his picks.
14:10So I said if we take Loveland, >> well not all of them.
14:13>> Not all of them. There's one there's one we're going to head to, but we knew he'd take Jeremiah Love if we didn't. It's
14:19like this the siren call of Jeremiah Love at the at the two at the two three turn is just too hard to pass up. I
14:25would >> you said to me, you were like, "Can can you can you live with Kenneth Walker and Jeremiah Love not falling to us?" And
14:33I'll be honest, I think I might have the running back we took ahead of both of them, >> which is exciting to talk about here.
14:40And I think like a lot of times it's funny when we draft together, the two of us have not like gone through every
14:46single player. We do it on School of Scott, but when you said you were into Bree Hall, I'm like, I'm really happy
14:51for that because I've been drafting the hell out of him on underdog right now.
14:56And I think there hasn't been enough talk about like Bree Hall being a winner of this off season. Adding Kenyan Sadique, adding Omar Cooper Jr.,
15:03whatever you think of those guys like in terms of their fantasy impact, they bring exceptional athleticism, first round draft capital to the equation.
15:12That offense just got better. And then you've got Gino Smith who's gonna be a kind of I think a stabilizing force
15:18behind center. All we need for Bruce Hall is the Jets to say, "Let's target him. Maybe not as much as we did in year
15:24two, but let's target him enough." And then you're looking at Bruce Hall as a huge edge pick. So Jeremiah Love goes
15:31off at the two at the 212. Chris Ave goes off at the 301. And then we sprint to the table and we take Bree Hall. And
15:38we take Bree Hall ahead of Malik Neighbors, which was the only thing where Scott, you're like upside wins championships, you want to swing for the
15:45fences on every each and every pick. Is there any regret whatsoever on not taking the injured Malik Neighbors or is it kind of like let's let this thing
15:54shift out and talk about your enthusiasm for Hall?
15:57>> No. Um, I think you have a very fair critique on me uh with regard to my injury optimism, which you know has
16:05probably been like one of my bigger mistakes I keep repeating is a little too much injury optimism. And so when I
16:12tell you like I am scared shitless over this Malik Neighbors injury, uh, you know, it's bad. And you know, I've talked to my injury experts and they're
16:20they're all like, listen, you know, even if he comes back, he's going to be 80% typical effectiveness. if that with uh
16:29an injury risk at 150% whether that's reinjury or compensatory injury. Uh and so everyone I've talked to is like
16:39Neighbors is a guy you want in 2027, not 2026. And then all along the way it just seems to be getting worse and worse.
16:45It's oh he just had another surgery. Oh, you know, uh first, you know, training camp's in jeopardy, then week one's in
16:52jeopardy. Meanwhile, our boy Cam Scataboo, I know that's another really bad injury. And Ryan Heath is very pessimistic, but you know, he's still
17:00like out here doing back flips, talking about running for 2,000 yards. Um Jackson Dart saying the offense is going to flow through him. And so I have a
17:09little bit more optimism there. But yeah, two two guys I love and really the focal points of that Giants offense. Uh
17:16coming back from some scary injuries.
17:18Breeze Hall. Uh yeah, I love this pick.
17:20I you look back at Bree Hall's career, uh he bowled out on a per game basis as a rookie, then he got hurt. Year two,
17:28age 22, 223 carries, 95 targets. Year three, age 23, 209 carries, uh 76
17:38targets. And so you look at guys like this with 200 plus carries, 75 plus targets. I'm like, is he the new
17:45MattForte? I think he could be the new MattForte. You had this training camp.
17:50All throughout training camp, the coaching staff sort of all over him. Was like, "We want a committee. We love Brilan Allen." Oh, yeah. Bree
17:58Hall's still here, but we love Brilan Allen. And, you know, uh 243 carries.
18:03The targets came down like you said, only 48. And uh Bree Hall, you know, was chirping, making some noise, kind of
18:10talking about wanting a trade. He wanted to go somewhere where they believed in him. And then he signed this extension.
18:17and you watch that press conference and he's saying it's really important to me being somewhere where they believe in me and I really feel that now the the
18:26conviction this coaching staff has in me that maybe didn't they didn't last year you know the offense is going to run
18:32through me and and you know he said it himself is like I really think I'm up there with the best running backs in the
18:40league it's just they weren't on offenses like mine which is a fair point is just totally incompetent offenses last year Justin Fields you know, he
18:48takes the ball on runs. He vultures touchdowns. He doesn't target the running backs. Uh he doesn't get first downs because the offense stinks. And
18:55you know, he's not getting yards before contact. He's getting attacked swarmed behind the line of scrimmage be because the offensive line isn't great. But like
19:04you said, the you know, major improvements to the offensive line, major improvement to the quarterback position, uh major improvements to the
19:11supporting cast. you're going to let Gino Smith kind of, you know, maneuver in the pocket, play point guard. And so, yeah, I think we could be seeing, you
19:20know, even if the offense is like fringe bottom 12, uh, instead of just like worse possible. And like honestly, like they might be even better than that.
19:30Like all this buzz and hype around Tyler Shuck, I think Gino Smith is kind of right there with this setup. um is yeah,
19:37we could be looking at a vintage Matt Forte season from Bree Hall even if this offense sucks. And I I'm not sure it
19:44will. Yeah, it's a very interesting offense and one that I think we're going to dive into throughout the summer. A lot of times you can find ADP wins if we
19:53identify mispriced offenses. I'm not ready to like crown the Jets as something spectacular, but if the Jets are the 20th best offense in football
20:03this year, like and are not like a bottom five offense, I think that Bree Hall could end up being a major ADP win.
20:10And then when you look at some of the running backs that go directly behind Bree Hall in round three, Dererick Henry
20:16and Josh Jacobs, who are easy players to like, but players who have taken on considerable volume and are getting older. Then you've got Travis Etienne
20:25who was fantastic last year but now you're paying like a five round difference from his ADP price last year.
20:32Kairen Williams which the threat of Blake Cororum. So it's like the dead zony guys and I'm not saying these guys should be dead zone backs but the dead
20:41zony backs are inside of round three and round four. And Bree Hall I don't think qualifies like that. So he might be
20:48really the one where I feel like he's an edge pick at the beginning of round two.
20:52Number of wide receivers go inside of round two. Three is around, excuse me, inside of round three. Number of wide receivers go inside of round three and
20:59it continues into round four. Malik Neighbors again goes one pick after us and you see AJ Brown, George Pickkins, Tedo McMillan, Amecha Ibuka go back to
21:08back to back to back. Then you see Tyler Warren sneak in the back end of the round three. Then you get another like
21:15monsoon of wide receivers and I start uh sending you text messages when we get to like the 401 and I'm like these wide
21:22receivers are going to start getting like sapped up this round. We need to get ready to take one at the 411. Devont
21:28Smith goes at the 401. Then you see three more running backs as well as Josh Allen go off the board. Then it's T.
21:35Higgins, Garrett Wilson, Zay Flowers, who I would have loved to have gotten where we drafted our guy, Devonte Adams, Luther Burton, and then it gets to us
21:44OTC at the 411. Uh, you like to bust my chops. I guess I'm I'm the lad maki doubter, not really hater, but I said
21:53when it came up to the 411, lad's kind of the pick. I think it makes sense at ADP. Uh, shout out to my buddy Andrew
22:00Shelonberg, who's a really good FFPC manager. he was in a a big gorilla this week and I believe Lad went at like the
22:06405 and his I believe he took him. Um and then you had uh multiple other wide receivers who sort of like could have
22:13been options. The one guy that we both loved and we said we could take at the 502 if we take lad was Terry McLaren.
22:21And you're like why don't we just take Terry McLaren at the 411? And I'm like, I think he's going to come around
22:25because shout out to Fantasy Mojo, McLaren's uh three mclaren's big gorilla like low was like the 503 over like the
22:35last 10 days. I'm like there's probably a good chance that he comes back to us at the 502 and then lo and behold, we
22:41take Lad Man at the 411 and then the manager at the at the 101, we thought he'd take Quinnon Judkins. He did, but
22:49instead he takes Terry McLaren at the 501. Why don't we go back and talk about that Manki pick? Uh how excited are you
22:56to get him at the 411 or is it just sort of chasing value here, Scott? Um and then we'll get back to McLaren slash who
23:04we took.
23:05>> Uh yeah, well this is this is one of Ryan Heath's flag plant players. You know, we just recorded an episode of
23:13School of Scott with Ryan Heath where he laid out the case and I get it. He he believes Lad Makanki is this year's JSN,
23:20in which case this was an amazing pick.
23:23This is, you know, one of the best possible picks you could make. Uh I think there's real risk here. Lad Mani,
23:29I'll be honest, isn't a player I love right now just because of the Keenan Allen risk. I think that's substantial.
23:36Um where even if it's not the most likely thing in the world he resigns, it's like I would rather just, you know,
23:43not have to worry about that. And so I said to you is like I just want Terry McLaren. Like I like Terry McLaren here
23:50more than anyone else uh available by by a lot. And you promised me Theo, you said there's no way he's going to go
23:59here. This would be the earliest he goes in any big gorilla all off season.
24:05There's no way. And then brutal sniping.
24:08Brutal sniping.
24:08>> A brutal snipe. A brutal snipe. And you always like we put Greinger Barrett as the as like the team name. And I think,
24:14you know, I know I've gotten a couple times where I've been in these FFPC drafts, and it's actually like a a huge
24:19honor to me when I get like the high stakes FFPC and NFC guys telling me how much they like my podcast and and it
24:27helps that I draft against these guys, but you know, they'll be like, "Hey, I listen to this show." So, big shout out
24:32to the FFPC audience. Like, we really value the really sharp FFPC managers with a lot of skin in the game using our
24:39content. But I also think there's a little bit of like a, "Hey, I sniped you." I remember when it was like peak
24:44Malik Neighbors season, his rookie year, and I came on some podcast, and I said he's going to end up being a wide
24:50receiver one, and I'm drafting the heck out of him. Some guy took him like the spot ahead of me and got into like the
24:55the like the comments, message boards, and like starts talking trash. So, I don't know about this one. I think people I know I've gotten a bunch of
25:01Terry McLaren trade offers in Dynasty Leagues cuz people know I like Terry McLaren. Yeah, Scott, we we got led astray. I still think that the that lad
25:10makanki the ceiling outcome for lad makanki is probably higher than McLaren even though I am not a huge Maki guy. I
25:18understand the theoretical upside. What if Omarian Hampton is not it? What if things run a little bit more through Maki? What if he gets 145 targets in
25:27this offense? And what if Trey Harris, Quinton Johnston, and Aronda Gadson all cannibalize one another and they all sort of have spike weeks, but Makanki is
25:36the one guy you really can like lean on week in week out in this passing game.
25:41So, I'm still glad we took him here.
25:43Would I want to take Glad Makanki at like the 402? No. But I'm happy to take him sort of at cost here. McLaren
25:50though, I really wish he would have come around. I also kept throwing out Jaylen Wadd. He ended up going at the 508. We
25:58talked about him on the show.
25:58>> I'm obsessed with Jaylen Wadd. My You just putting him in all my teams.
26:02>> No, no, I do like to I do like to get exposure to Jaylen Wadd. Last year, we were also drafting him considerably
26:08lower. Now he's come up to the fifth round, but he ends up going at the 508.
26:13So, there was a run of wide receivers.
26:16Uh the run of wide receivers sort of ended with McLaren, and it's because Scott, we pivoted over. We end up getting the 502.
26:24And I like David Montgomery. Scott likes David Montgomery. We consider David Montgomery there. Scott also loves any old dusty guy he can get in this range
26:33of drafts. So David Montgomery would have fit in well in like the Scott Barrett like profile of guy. No, but David Montgomery is fantastic. But I
26:40sort of we sort of both said if we're going to take a running back here, we're not going to force a wide receiver into
26:46our build. Let's consider Tayvon Henderson. And we both sort of talked about like the downside risk and certainly Chris Wet has him lower in our
26:56projections, but I do think there's an extent that you throw projections out the window with Trayvon Henderson. Like this is the win the tournament type pick
27:04to me where we're already set at running back. We have Jir Gibbs and Bree Hall.
27:08We're able to just park Trayvon Henderson in the flex and sort of live and die with his upside downside risk in
27:16this offense. I like it though when I look back in hindsight. We take him ahead of David Montgomery, Tucker Craft, DeAndre Swift, Jadarian Price, Harold
27:24Fannon Jr., Jaylen Wadd. He I mean he has the most upside of any guy in this round. A little bit of it is contingent
27:31based with RAandre Stevenson, but Stevenson also getting a little bit older. Um I like getting access to some Trayvon Henderson. Let us know in the
27:39chat what you think of this pick. But Scott Barrett, break down your willingness to embrace Henderson. I guess I think if I'm reading you right,
27:46there was a little enthusiasm with this pick, too.
27:48>> There was I I think this requires a nuance take. Um, and so bear with me, but you're listening to School of Scott
27:58where you know, this is your podcast. If you want a PhD in fantasy football, you need to be listening to School of Scott.
28:04But yeah, I'm going to go a little too deep and in the weeds at times. And it's it's important when you're listening to
28:12um a fantasy analyst. It's like if they have a baseball background, you could be kind of influenced in a way that's that
28:19could actually be detrimental to you in your home league. um where it's like you listen to Ryan Heath and Jacob Sanderson
28:27talk about well you know Jaori Krosky Merritt is like a decent value and I'm like this guy does not freaking matter
28:32in a start sit league that that is your baseball bias just like pretend he doesn't exist you're going to be better
28:38off for it and then Tayon Henderson drafting us talking about him right now you have to understand we're talking about the FFPC format where there's no
28:48trades in your home league I don't think Tayvon Henderson is a good pick here because I think you
28:57want to be profiting off of impatience and I think it's going to take him a while. There's a big lesson learned from
29:03me from the 2025 season where you know a lot went right but you know Luther Burton Coulson Lovelin were league winners but you know they were free uh
29:14week 12, week 13, week 14 and so yeah it's going to take Trayvon Henderson a while to break out. You might have to
29:22benefit from injury. I think he's a player who's going to be much cheaper week six than than uh in your draft. But
29:30this is an FFPC with no trades with a tournament format $1 million grand prize where you really want to be leaning into
29:38upside. You really want to be leaning into back half uh scoring potential. And so with all that caveat, I love this
29:47pick and I especially love it for our team because that is crucial is you have to be able to weather drafting Trayvon
29:57Henderson. You have to be able to weather the possibility of Henderson just doing absolutely nothing the first month, two months of the season. We saw
30:05it last year over his last 10 games. He hit 12 fantasy points and only eight of them. in the playoffs, he averaged four
30:13fantasy points per game. And so there's a real possibility he's dead weight for us uh for some percentage of the season.
30:21But this is a team with Jir Gibbs, Bree Hall that can weather that. And so I think he's a great fit for this. And so
30:28I just talked about all the reasons why I'm skeptical, skeptical, concerned, why he had to be a good fit. The the
30:34argument for him is I think this is a really high caliber talent. you look at what moves the needle uh for fantasy
30:41points at the running back position, it's only three things. It's targets. I think he was a really good pass catcher, elite yards per target in college. Uh
30:51really good pass blocker. Uh it's uh red zone scoring potential. All right, maybe Reandre has the edge there. And then the
30:59third thing is explosive playability.
31:02and he was at such a level that you only see from like the Jir Gibbs, the Saquon Barkclays, the Derk Henry's, the Devon
31:10Aans of the world. Rare ability there.
31:13And so the Patriots last year, uh, they had the softest schedule by a landslide.
31:18They were playing every game from a lead. I think they place more of a premium on that explosive play ability this year, uh, playing from behind more
31:27often in more close games. But really, it's just like this guy is incredibly talented and Raandre Stevenson, I think much less so. You know, he's a guy who
31:38doesn't there's not a lot of negative plays, but like on average and in terms of big playability, uh it's it's really
31:46Trayvon Henderson from a landslide.
31:48you know, so long as Tayvon, a devout Christian, uh, you know, stops quoting Leviticus at his, uh, head coach and gets in the good graces, uh, allowing
32:00Mike Vrabel to just come to his senses and be like, "Hey, this guy's way better. Let's give him the Bellcow role." There's massive, I think,
32:07massive, massive league winning potential. And also of course if Raandre Stevenson were to suffer an injury forcing Vrabel's hand there it's just
32:15kind of you know really talented guy you know I is is rational coaching going to win out at the end of the day. I think
32:24we can with a round five pick here uh chasing a $1 million grand prize with the luxury of two running backs on this
32:31team call this a great pick. Yeah, I I I think it wouldn't wouldn't behove uh anything good for Trayvon Henderson if
32:38he went up to Mike Frabel and said, "Coach, I'm praying for you with the offseason and Diana Rousini stuff."
32:43Like, he's got to chill on that. Um but Trayvon Henderson, like I think there's also another like I I don't know if it's
32:49necessarily as much of an extreme uh swings like you're saying. I think it could also be, hey, we trust him a
32:56little more at 23 years old than we did at 22 years old. a year in our system.
33:01You've got Josh McDaniel, you've got Mike Vrabel, uh coming off of a Super Bowl loss and maybe you're going to see
33:07a little more predictable volume even in games where Raandre is used. It's getting Trayvon Henderson the ball. Uh like we talk about Jir Gibbs, we talk
33:16about Bree Hall. There's some outcomes where Trayvon Henderson could have that sort of year two that those guys had.
33:21And then Scott, we also take him in May.
33:24if there's any sort of an injury setback for Raandre Stevenson, Trayvon Henderson would be drafted like right next to Bree Hall. So like we might have a little bit
33:32of of Delta in terms of profit in terms of the ADP. So I get it. There's some risk here, but the guy did have 10
33:39touchdowns last year as a rookie. Uh had three games in a four in a fiveweek stretch, had three games where he had 28
33:46or more PPR points, including two 30 burgers. So love the upside selection.
33:50We walk away with Manki and Trayvon Henderson at the five at the four five essentially. Then we get to the sixth
33:56round and we start talking. We start loading the queue. Uh you see Chuba Hubard, RJ Harvey, Bashel Tutin go off the board. Uh this is not in order
34:04either if you're listening on the podcast. The wide receivers I had Jordan Tyson and Carnell Tate both in the queue. Wishful thinking. Those guys go
34:12at the beginning of round six. I think >> I'll tell you what, they did us a favor.
34:16>> Yeah. Well, we'll argue about that. I'm I am big time on team Carell Tate. I I think you cannot have enough Carnell
34:22Tate. Jordan Tyson, we'll talk about him on the Dynasty show. You see two more tight ends who make a lot of sense
34:27structurally in round six. Sam Leapora and Kyle Pitts off the board. Lamar Jackson goes off the board. So, we start talking about like, you know, when we
34:36get to the middle of the six, we start loading up the queue. Marvin Harrison goes at the uh 609. Bashel Tutin goes at
34:45the 610. And then we come up OTC and we start talking and I throw out Alec Pierce, Brian Thomas Jr., Parker
34:54Washington, Jaden Daniels, uh we talk and then you throw out George KD and I think we had one other player in
35:00consideration. I told you that I thought if you want Jaden Daniels for this team, who I think both of us are in lock step
35:06is a really good value in this range.
35:08You need to take him right now because the drafter who took Terry McLaren is going to take him here at the 67 turn.
35:15You still gravitated towards you wanted to get your guy Parker Washington. We argued back and forth. This has turned into a Parker Washington propaganda
35:24channel. Scott, you're all in on Parker Washington. Um Josh DS died so Parker Washington could live. Uh you're we're drafting Parker Russian in every single
35:32draft together, but you're pounding the table. So I finally just say, Scott, you take the the the you take the lead here
35:39in round six and seven, and then round eight and nine, I'm going to take the lead. And we're just going to sort of
35:44talk through these picks. Talk about why you want to go Parker Washington over a guy like Alec Pierce, a guy like Brian
35:50Thomas Jr. I mean, you've made the case for him so many times, but talk about taking him at the 611 here.
35:56>> Yeah. Yeah. And I'm I'm totally fine getting sniped on Jaden Daniels. I I agreed with you. I I think he was the
36:01next best value. Um but I really did not want to lose out on Parker Washington.
36:06Like the next wide receiver drafted was Alec Pierce. I think there's a substantial difference between them.
36:11Parker Washington isn't a sure thing by by any stretch, but I'm valuing him, you know, almost identically to Luther Burton who went exactly two rounds
36:21earlier, right? And so that to me just looks like extreme value. Um and yeah, I think this fits our team great. I really
36:29like where we're sitting after, you know, six rounds where you have Lad Mcconkey and Parker Washington, two wide receivers with a lot of upside. You have
36:39the three running backs, Jamir Gibbs, Bree Hall, Trayvon Henderson, and you have a superstar tight end in the tight end premium format and Coloulston
36:46Lovelin. So, we have tremendous flexibility where we could have drafted a highest end hyper mobile quarterback as an edge pick, but also like how many
36:58drafts have we done where we wait until like round 14 to draft our first quarterback and we crush. Uh, so I I'm
37:05not sweating that. And now, you know, we could draft another running back. We could draft another tight end, stick him in the flex, we could draft probably
37:13what makes the most sense is more wide receivers. But, uh, yeah, really like where we're sitting. Love the upside that we have on this roster and good
37:21depth and good floor.
37:22>> I do too. And I think both of us are very open-minded to a lot of the quarterbacks that are going to be there
37:26in rounds 9 and 10. I we don't necessarily feel the pressure. I do think if we look back at this draft in 6
37:33months. It'll be interesting to see like do we wish we would have taken Jaden Daniels there. I mean, hindsight's 2020 and I'm sure we're going to have some
37:39exposure to Jaden Daniels. But we'll end the show here. Let us know in the comments. Do you want Scott and I to get
37:45back on the mic here and show what we did in rounds eight on? Do like a part two for this where
37:50>> we got we got to make our pick live.
37:52>> We got an hour and a half. We got an hour and a half. This is a slow six hour draft. So, everybody in our league is
37:56probably like, "Why are Scott and Theo waiting uh you know like four and a half hours to make this pick. It's so we
38:01could do it live on the air right here.
38:03I've loaded up a queue here and we're going to talk out these. I think I know who you want to take, but we're we're
38:09going to talk about four options here.
38:11The one option that I I think we should eliminate, but I think it's worth discussion from a draft theory conversation, we both are betting on the
38:21New England Patriots to hit in a major way. Uh, in terms of offensively, the game flow is going to be better. It's
38:27year two for Josh McDaniels. It's year three for Drake May, essentially his second full year as a starter. It's an offense that should score points in the
38:35in like be a top 10 scoring offense.
38:38Should be fantasy friendly offense.
38:41Is there any argument whatsoever for taking Raandre Stevenson here and doubletapping this running back room or is it very low EV to double tap the same
38:52back field with two picks inside of their first seven rounds?
38:56>> Yeah, I don't I don't think that matters at all that Trey like honestly like no that's probably positively correlated and probably a smart decision. Um, but
39:04yeah, it's weird. Like I'm I'm not so excited to draft T May here when he was last year's Exodia quarterback. He
39:14finished second in fantasy points per game. And the only real issue he had was that it was too easy. You know, the
39:20Patriots were winning these games too easily. He didn't need to throw the ball. And you know, we are expecting a major regression to the mean with a
39:29tougher strength of schedule this year.
39:31Um, but he's not he's not who I'm keeping him.
39:36>> I I think it's So, let's eliminate Stephvenson. I'll just make a devil.
39:40>> Stephen, wait, were you saying Stevenson? I thought you were >> No, I was saying for you to discuss, you know, I'm sure there's certain people
39:45out there and I think stack.
39:47>> No, I do not I do not draft two running backs in the same backfield on on the same offense. That's or on the on the
39:55same team because that like really just caps your upside and like the whole game is upside. like it's it's cuz if they're both healthy, they're
40:03cannibalizing each other's upside and if one gets hurt, then he just kind of wasted a pick. Um that that's Yeah, that's not something I'm I'm doing here.
40:11Certainly not in round seven.
40:13>> Yeah. And I think it's more of a best thing. I think in best uh the term stack cuffing, I think stack cuffing is a Dave
40:21Hubard line. So shout out to Dave or Billy Musio, one of these high stakes guys. But it sort of became common
40:27vernacular. If you're like on underdog, doubletapping Raandre Stevenson and Trayvon Henderson in like a five running back build in baseball makes a lot of
40:35sense. Doubletapping them here, you literally need this to turn into Jir Gibbs, David Montgomery, Ben Johnson years in terms for it to pay off. So we
40:45are eliminating Raandre Stevenson. Let me ask you this, Scott. If you would have not, if if Terry McLaren would have fell to you at the 502, then I do think
40:55that Raandre Stevenson would be in play at the 702. Are you there?
40:59>> No.
40:59>> Okay. So, we're we're we're going to talk Raandre on another school of Scott.
41:02Uh cuz I figured that would be a Scott Barrett type thing to attack, but maybe it's not. Let's uh >> I even if we did like certainly with
41:10Trayvon on this team, I have no interest in Raandre. But even if Trayvon weren't on this team, I still wouldn't have
41:16interest in Raandre here.
41:18>> So, you've got you've got the one argument I'll make with Drake May is the rushing upside. The game flow is going
41:24to be good. He's probably going to get a AJ Brown. I'd put it at like 75% he goes to New England and then we're hearing
41:29like >> maybe the the LA Rams, maybe the Kansas City Chiefs, like there could be a surprise.
41:35>> Yeah. So, if he gets AJ Brown, he's got the rushing upside and then we have the correlation with him and Trayvon
41:40Henderson, he'd be an interesting pick here. But we're going to eliminate him.
41:44We're going to eliminate Raandre Stevenson. I think there's two picks in consideration here. One I know you're on and there's one I'd like to make an
41:52argument for. Oh, and I'll also add before I talk about the picks. When we're talking about correlation, we do have Lad Maki. Um, and Lad Makanki bet
42:01is sort of a Justin Herbert bet. Justin Herbert's average draft position right now is the 1006.
42:07So I think you know if we wanted to force the issue and take Herbert at the 901 depending on how the rest the rest
42:14of this draft goes that might work.
42:15There's also a chance he falls to us at the 1012. Another quarterback that we have we could gain correlation with would be Trevor Lawrence if we waited.
42:24And Trevor Lawrence goes a little bit ahead. He'd probably be someone we'd have to take at like the uh you know the
42:29812 area if he's there. But I'll throw out two I'll throw out the one player that I will stump for here. If we're
42:37chasing an upside outcome, you've made a big bet on Parker Washington. We both are into Liam Cohen. We both are into
42:44Trevor Lawrence. We've seen a changing of the guard at the running back position where I don't think a Bachelotin Chris Rodriguez in their
42:51wildest dreams is going to get a Travis ETN like touch volume next year. I think it's probably going to be Bashel Tutin
42:58would be my bet, but even if he hits, it's going to be like 20% fewer touches than ETN. So, you've got one part of the
43:05passing game. Brian Thomas Jr. at the 702 despite the downside risk would be a similar argument to Trayvon Henderson in
43:15the sense that we are chasing youth. We are chasing upside. We are chasing the potential for like a like a post hype
43:24sleeper year out of BTJ. Similar argument to like the Marvin Harrison Jr.
43:28going at the end of round six. It's the big outside alpha who could get double- digit touchdown catches this year. And
43:36if Jacobe Meyers ends up sort of just becoming a guy in this offense and they embrace the youth, you could end up with
43:43BTJ and Parker Washington in like a really fun combination and it opens us up to this correlation with Taw later on. You were stumping for someone else
43:52though.
43:53>> Yeah, maybe I'm wrong on this. Maybe like this is smart drafting a BTJ and it's a bet on the Jaguars offense which
44:00I believe in. It's a bet on Liam Cohen, which I believe in. But to me, no. This feels like the same thing as Raandre.
44:06It's where it's something that lowers your ceiling, raises your floor, which is not what we want. It's like we're betting on Parker Washington to be the
44:14guy and you know, drafting BTJ here would kind of subtract from that. I think this is obvious. I think this is
44:20easy and you hate it. Um, I think it's George KD, you know, like I know he's on the older side. I know he's coming off
44:30injury, but it's a tight end premium format. The guy's been an absolute baller every year of his career despite playing through like 10 different
44:38injuries. Um, last year, last year Brock Bowers averaged 14.7 fantasy points per game. You know, you know how many fantasy points George KD averaged? The
44:50exact same as Brock Bowers who went in round one. Yeah. You know who led the position in fantasy points per game the
44:57year before that? It was George KD. He let all tight ends in fantasy points per game. Over the last two years combined,
45:05George KD is tied with Justin Jefferson in fantasy points per game. And that's not even in a tight end premium format.
45:12That's just PPR. And so this guy's available in round seven. Fits our team like a glove. And the tight ends going
45:20after him are Arande Gaston, Isaiah Likely, Travis Kelce, Dalton Concincaid.
45:27Um, I just, you know, balancing the floor with the upside with the median projection. It just I love me some George KD here.
45:37>> I, you make a really good case. George KD's also 33 years old coming off of an Achilles injury. And Scott, we've seen
45:45San Francisco lie straight up to us. You remember the Christian McAffrey year in 2024 where people were drafting him enthusiastically and the franchise told
45:54us everything was great. you're I get the same sort of vibes and I think this is actually going to be George KD not
46:01ready for week one despite what John Lynch lies to us about. I think it could be George KD a little later in the year.
46:06So I feel like I would rather go with the I would rather go with structurally on the record I would rather go with
46:14BTJ. I would rather go with Drake May. I would rather go with uncorrelated Joe Burrow who could end up with 50
46:20touchdown passes this year if it all goes well. I will capitulate to you on George KD because I don't think I'm
46:26going to have a ton of him and having a little bit of exposure would be good. I do think that structurally it does two
46:31things to us. I think we're done at tight end unless an exceptional value shows up and I know you like to go
46:37purple, but if you go Coloulston Lovelin round two, George KD round seven, you're making a bet that you're right and you're not wrong and those two guys are
46:45going to give you top four tight end numbers, top three tight end numbers. So you don't really need another one except
46:51I want to take Jake Tanis if we take George KD and treat it like a handcuff where you might be able to get like
46:58Tonis had a couple weeks where he was good. I mean he was giving you like 12 to 14 points per game in tight end
47:03premium without KD. And I think that Tanis could do the same thing this year out the gate. So I think we want to
47:09protect ourselves. So, if you want to go George KD, I'm okay doing it, but round eight and nine, I'm gonna steer the ship
47:16and you can be in this sort of advisory role. Um, so let's do it. We're gonna take a lot.
47:20>> That sounds that sounds great to me. Uh, I'm with you. I think Jake Tongous is a good call. And guys, like what a what a
47:27tough what a tough position you're in, Theo is uh, you know, I try and bully him and he he doesn't let me and and our
47:34team is better off for it. Just one last thing specific to George KD, though. Uh, I was talking to my guy Jeff Mueller,
47:40injury expert, also a 49ers diehard fan.
47:44And so I was asking him about George KD.
47:47He said, uh, he thinks he's going to be active week one, but not a full go, probably lower volume early on where
47:55he's more of a a, you know, blocking first tight end, but then ramp up in the mid-season, uh, with a real chance to
48:04just be, you know, back to who he was.
48:06And let's not forget like Mike Evans, Ricky Persaw, they have injury concerns as well. So like he's shown he could be
48:13step up and be the focal point of the offense. There's contingent upside beyond that as well. And one thing with regard to my injury optimism, another
48:20thing I talked to Jeff Mueller about is like I wonder if this is actually the best year ever for injury optimism
48:26because we're now living in the the peptide era. And so like you see Patrick Mahomes shattering his timeline, Cam Scataboo shattering his timeline, you
48:37know, like can you even test for BPC57?
48:41Is this really like some miracle drug that just like speeds up healing time by like 5x? Maybe. Maybe. And like tend
48:48tendons regrow like weeds. Uh maybe. I don't know. But um yeah, that's the one thing about George KD is like he's
48:55always hurt, but he's also like Wolverine in terms of how fast he heals and he like plays through anything. Um but um but yeah, for sure, you know,
49:03obviously tons of injuries and he's getting up there in age, but but yeah, I appreciate you capitulating to me here with this pick and I'm happy to just,
49:12you know, uh sit sit on the sidelines uh with our next two picks and and let you take the wheel.
49:19>> Yeah. And shout out if you have a peptide company, we'd love to sponsor you over at Fantasy Points. Uh if you
49:25want to get George KD on a Sir Mlean sir Morelin and BPC 157 stack, let us know in the comments. Uh he's probably on
49:33something even better than that. Shout out to George KD. We hope you come back and we hope you average like 20 points
