Clear passing-down complement to Dobbins: 4 targets (4 catches, 23 yards) plus return duty (4 kickoff returns for 111 yards, a 27.8 average, long of 31) gives him a real weekly PPR floor even on limited rushing volume (3 carries, 18 yards, though his true workload was 4 carries and 20 yards after a Denver holding penalty erased a real 2-yard gain). Harvey also came close to scoring in this game, as the team loves to feature him around the red zone. Played 26 snaps (51%) and had 7 touches for 41 total yards.
NegativeBustSep 10, 2026
Harvey finished last year as RB20, averaging 12.2 PPR fantasy points per game, but needed a featured role in the second half to hit that mark and scored 10.5 or fewer fantasy points in over half his games as the featured guy. Now he will split backfield work with J.K. Dobbins and Jonah Coleman, reducing his volume. More critically, Harvey struggled in both matchups against the Chiefs as a rookie, averaging 12.5 rushing attempts for 36.5 yards, zero touchdowns, and 13.3 fantasy points per game despite Dobbins missing both games. He needed five receptions and a receiving touchdown in Week 17 against a Chiefs team that had given up on the season to score double-digit fantasy points.
PositiveBustSep 6, 2026
RJ Harvey's rookie season split dramatically around J.K. Dobbins' availability: Weeks 1-10 (Dobbins active) he was RB29 in fantasy points per game with 29.1% snap share and 7.5 touches; Weeks 11-18 (Dobbins out) he was RB13 with 60.7% snap share and 16.8 touches. With Dobbins returning and Denver drafting Jonah Coleman, Harvey's role is uncertain and could revert to early-season passing-down partner role or become muddled across three backs. While Harvey excelled as a pass catcher (sixth in target per route run rate and first downs per route run, tenth in yards per route run), he struggled on early downs (21st in missed tackle rate, 42nd in explosive run rate, 44th in yards after contact per attempt among 49 qualifying backs). Derek Brown won't prioritize Harvey in 2026 drafts like he did last year.

Harvey's rookie season was split dramatically around J.K. Dobbins' availability. In Weeks 1-10 with Dobbins active, Harvey was RB29 in fantasy points per game, averaging 29.1% of snaps with 7.5 touches and 38.9 total yards per game. In Weeks 11-18 with Dobbins out, he was RB13 in fantasy points per game with 16.8 touches and 72.5 total yards per game while averaging 60.7% of snaps. With Dobbins returning and Denver drafting Jonah Coleman, Harvey's role is uncertain; he could fall back into his early-season role as a passing-down partner or the backfield could become messy with all three backs dividing production. As a pass catcher, Harvey ranked sixth in target per route run rate and first downs per route run and tenth in yards per route run, but as a rusher among 49 qualifying backs he ranked 21st in missed tackle rate, 42nd in explosive run rate, and 44th in yards after contact per attempt. Derek Brown won't go out of his way to get Harvey on all his teams in 2026 like he did last year.

At RB26, Harvey is one of the favorite bets at the position because we already saw the upside as a rookie. Harvey led all running backs in fantasy points per touch during the first half of last season, scored 12 total touchdowns, and after J.K. Dobbins went down, averaged 16.8 touches per game while finishing as the RB13 in points per game from Weeks 11-18. He wasn't simply living off Dobbins' leftovers near the goal line; Harvey had 26 carries inside the 20 and scored five times on those attempts, while also finishing sixth among running backs in targets per route run. Denver has since added Jaylen Waddle to an offense that won 14 games last season, and adding that type of explosive element should create more scoring opportunities. At RB26, betting on a second-year back who has already shown he can produce with limited touches, handle more volume when asked, and has legitimate RB1 upside if this backfield shifts further in his direction.

Harvey's rookie season split sharply around J.K. Dobbins' availability. In Weeks 1-10 with Dobbins active, Harvey was RB29 in fantasy points per game with 29.1% snap share and 7.5 touches per game. In Weeks 11-18 with Dobbins out, he was RB13 with 60.7% snap share and 16.8 touches per game. With Dobbins returning and Denver drafting Jonah Coleman, Harvey's role is uncertain and could revert to a passing-down role. As a receiver, Harvey ranked sixth in target per route run rate and first downs per route run, tenth in yards per route run, but as a rusher he ranked 21st in missed tackle rate, 42nd in explosive run rate, and 44th in yards after contact per attempt. The source won't reach for him in 2026 like in 2025.

James Emrick-Wilson is all the way back in on Harvey at RB33 this year after being out on him last year. Harvey finished as RB20 in half-PPR as a rookie with 896 scrimmage yards and 12 TDs, and now enters Year 2 in Sean Payton's offense behind arguably the best offensive line in football. J.K. Dobbins is injured again, and Harvey was averaging 10.0 PPG to Dobbins' 11.6 last year, so even if Dobbins or Jonah Coleman takes some work, Harvey has shown he can produce without owning the backfield. At RB33, Harvey has a legitimate chance to finish as an RB1, and buying ascending players after market overcorrection is how you win in fantasy football.
NegativeBustAug 13, 2026
Harvey is being drafted in near-identical positions to J.K. Dobbins, with rookie Jonah Coleman breathing down their necks. When Dobbins missed time last season, Harvey's value catapulted up to near RB1 territory thanks to his prowess as a receiver (47 catches for 356 yards and five TDs). However, if Dobbins is on the field, Harvey's upside is dramatically lowered. Additionally, Coleman's potential ascent up the depth chart adds further uncertainty. Evan Tarracciano is avoiding all Denver running backs due to the uncertainty and head coach Sean Payton's history of backfield shenanigans, preferring to sleep better at night rather than chase the 'what ifs' in this situation.

Pat Fitzmaurice is pretty much out on RJ Harvey despite his enticing prospect profile. Harvey's rookie year was disappointing despite 12 touchdowns; after JK Dobbins got hurt, Harvey averaged 3.3 yards per carry for the rest of the season despite running behind one of the NFL's top offensive lines. Per Next Gen Stats, Harvey averaged -0.63 rushing yards over expected per carry (fourth worst among qualifying RBs). With Dobbins back and the Broncos drafting RB Jonah Coleman in the fourth round, Harvey's high-end RB3 ADP is hard to justify.
NegativeProjectionJul 28, 2026
Harvey took over as the lead back once Dobbins went down and produced real fantasy points, but much of that came through receiving work and touchdown variance rather than clearly winning the job on merit. Harvey averaged 3.7 yards per carry compared to Dobbins' 5.0 yards per carry when healthy. Harvey was reportedly studying tape of a more decisive runner this offseason, a notable admission. The market has Harvey narrowly ahead of Dobbins in ADP. An added complication: a new speedy receiver addition this offseason could siphon away some of the underneath, red-zone-adjacent receiving work that had been flowing to Harvey.

R.J. Harvey's rookie season was a tale of two seasons centered around J.K. Dobbins being in the lineup and out of it. In Weeks 1-10 with Dobbins active, Harvey was the RB29 in fantasy points per game, averaging 29.1% of snaps with 7.5 touches and 38.9 total yards per game. In Weeks 11-18 with Dobbins out, he was the RB13 in fantasy points per game with 16.8 touches and 72.5 total yards per game while averaging 60.7% of snaps. With Dobbins back and Denver drafting Jonah Coleman, Harvey's role is up in the air and he could easily fall back into his early-season role as a passing-down partner.

RB28 ADP with undeniable ceiling despite current concerns. Second-round pick last year posted 12 total TDs as rookie and ranked eighth among RBs with 58 total targets, displaying dual-threat ability key to fantasy upside. However, inefficient on ground and spent majority of season as clear backup to J.K. Dobbins, whom Broncos brought back this offseason. Median outcome is part-time role with inconsistent results. But Dobbins has yet to post full healthy season since 2020 entry, creating chance Harvey improves and earns expanded workload in year two. Potentially league's best O-line and Sean Payton's track record of scheming RB fantasy production support undeniable ceiling.

The source won't prioritize getting him on all teams in 2026 like in 2025.

Harvey's fantasy value is heavily dependent on J.K. Dobbins' health status, making him unreliable. While Harvey finished as RB20 last season averaging 12.2 PPR fantasy points per game, he averaged only five rushing attempts, 7.5 total touches and 10 fantasy points per game with Dobbins healthy. By comparison, Harvey averaged 13.7 rushing attempts, 16.9 total touches and 15.2 PPR fantasy points per game without the veteran. The Broncos re-signed Dobbins and drafted Jonah Coleman, further limiting Harvey's role. At ADP 64.24 (RB27), Harvey might be the best option in Denver's backfield, but he's not worth a top-75 pick.
