0:15back here because, so this is kind of a books on tape version of my column, if you will.
0:23A lot of people obviously enjoy reading the column, but some people are like, you know what, I don't have time, but
0:31I travel a lot, I'm in the car a lot, or I have to, you know, I walk every morning, I'm on
0:40the treadmill, whatever it is, I just like listening to books on tape, I like listening to stuff rather than just reading.
0:48So, I thought I would do this, at least for my pre-season articles, we'll see how it goes, maybe I'll do it
0:57when we get into the regular season, but what I'm going to do now is, this is my 100 Facts column.
1:05It's the 100 Facts You Need to Know Before You Draft.
1:09And this is a column that's up for free on FantasyLife.com, but I'm just basically going to read it verbatim as it appears on FantasyLife.com, okay?
1:19So this is the 100 Facts column, there's no guest today, and if this particular episode isn't your cup of tea, you
1:28can just skip it and the next one we'll have a guest and we'll talk everything.
1:34But I think it's, 100 Facts is one of my favorite articles to write every single year.
1:41It's a tradition, and I think this year in particular is a pretty good one.
1:47So, without further ado, here you go. It's 100 Facts You Need to Know for the 2026 Fantasy Football Season, presented by

2:02It's up on FantasyLife.com, and here you go, as written by Matthew Berry for 2026.
2:08It's the moment. You're in the draft room, you're up, and you need a quarterback.
2:13Two are available, so which one do you choose?
2:17Quarterback A, just an absolute stud. Averaging more than 290 total yards per game last year, he was a fantasy superstar with nine top-12 finishes.
2:27A multi-threat quarterback. QBA gets you points with his arm.
2:30He's had over 4,000 yards passing, which is his last three healthy seasons.
2:36And with his legs, 21 rushing touchdowns in the last four years alone.
2:41And by the way, this isn't some bad real-life quarterback, good-for-fantasy gadget guy, no.
2:46QBA grades out as a top-10 quarterback in the NFL per PFF grade.
2:51He's a Pro Bowler. He's a multi-time Player of the Week winner.
2:56And an NFL Top 100 player over multiple years.
2:59Averaging two and a half touchdowns for every .2 interceptions per game last year, QBA is coming off his best season ever
3:08with a group of pass catchers that are among the best in the NFL.
3:13Young, aggressive, dual-threat quarterback who continues to ascend and has three top-12 fantasy QB finishes in his last three healthy years?
3:21Oh yeah, I'm in on QBA this season. Meanwhile, quarterback B has been labeled a bus since he came into the NFL.
3:30And I'm not sure he'll ever figure it out.
3:33Just 32nd out of 42 qualifying quarterbacks in completion percentage.
3:37He just looks lost back there. Sacked for a career-high 41 times last season, he had 22, count them, 22 turnover-worthy plays.
3:46Even when he does something positive, he gets no help.
3:50His receiving core led the NFL in drops last year.
3:54He's been in the league for many years. And has a career passer rating lower than Carson Wentz, Gardner Minshew, and Mac Jones.
4:03Among others. Okay, yeah, I'll grant you after multiple years of finishing as QB 23 or worse, he was better last season.
4:11But come on, he was QB 27 in 2024.
4:15There was really nowhere to go but up. If you want quarterback B on your team, knock yourself out.
4:22But he won't be anywhere near mine. So, which player do you want?
4:27Understand that every single thing I just wrote about each player above is 100% true.
4:33Heavily researched, verified, and completely accurate. You're in the draft room, the clock is ticking down, and now you've got to make
4:41a pick in the next 10 seconds. So, which one do you want?
4:47You've listened to podcasts, you've watched videos, you've read a ton, including about 500 stat-filled words from me on two different quarterbacks.
4:55You've been prepping for this day all summer. The choice should be easy, right?
5:01You know which quarterback you want, don't you? I've made it fairly obvious.
5:06Grab the clearly better quarterback and let's start figuring out which one of our league mates we're going to screw over by grabbing their starting running backs backup.
5:16Okay? Hang on. One more second before you click draft.
5:20There's one other fact that you should know, okay?
5:24Quarterback A is Trevor Lawrence. And quarterback B, he's also Trevor Lawrence.
5:28Yeah. You see, I can make stats say anything I want.
5:33Literally anything I want. What's the phrase? There are three kinds of lies.
5:38Lies, damn lies, and statistics. The reality of it is, I can talk up or down any player I want.
5:46I just have to choose the right stats for the job.
5:50Or I can use FantasyLife.com's utilization report, which is the sickest research tool that breaks down just about every player and their utilization.
5:59Or I can ask my producer, Damian Dabrowski, or my friend, Ryan Paganetti, to research the right stat, which I did at various points in this column.
6:09The point here is, everything in this column is an accurate statistical statement that has been heavily researched and double-checked.
6:17They are heavily vetted. They are purposely thought out.
6:21They are 100% true. Can't be argued with. Black and white facts.
6:25That only tell part of the story. The part of the story I want you to see, but only that part.
6:33The part that supports whatever opinion I have on a player.
6:38Whatever opinion I want to try and convince you of.
6:42As I often do with this column every year, I wanted to show how I can make the same player seem either great or awful.
6:51And I told the truth in each paragraph. For QBA, the hard part wasn't talking up Lawrence, who obviously finished last year on a heater.
7:01He was the number one quarterback in fantasy over the last seven games and finished as a top five QB overall.
7:09The hard part was talking him up without giving him away.
7:13But I mentioned the rushing upside without talking about the fact that his nine rushing touchdowns last year were a career high and unlucky to repeat.
7:24How I sidestep his brutal 2023 by using injury as an excuse.
7:28And I used total numbers versus per game numbers because, other than the injury-filled 2023, his counting stacks actually look good because,
7:37you know, he usually plays all 17 games. Meanwhile, when I wanted to talk him down, I used his injury-filled season as
7:45one of the two seasons he finished outside the top 20.
7:50And I ignored the three years he finished top 12 at the position.
7:55I mentioned a bunch of bad stats like sacks and drops without mentioning the volume of passing and dropbacks Lawrence had last year.
8:04And that ultimately none of it mattered down the stretch because he was legitimately a league winner last season.
8:11And what I did with Trevor Lawrence, I can easily do for any player in the NFL.
8:18Because you see, there is very little in this world I'm actually good at.
8:23But one thing I'm a world-class master at? Writing and manipulating stats to tell whatever story I want.
8:30And I want to let you in on one more secret.
8:34I'm not the only one. Everyone does it. Everyone does it.
8:39Now, some are better at it than others, but literally everyone does it.
8:44They do it in fantasy football analysis. They do it in office presentations.
8:49They do it in pop culture and while arguing at the bar.
8:53And spend five minutes on any social media searching for politics to see it go insanely over the top from both sides.
9:02Everyone tells you the stats or side of the story that supports what they think.
9:08But they don't tell you the whole story. And this is probably the best advice I can give you about fantasy football research all season.
9:17It's why this is usually the first column I write every year.
9:22I went out of order with a draft day manifesto dropping a couple weeks ago on fantasylife.com.
9:29So this year it's the second big column, but whatever.
9:33I make the same points every year, reminding you of the same message and making the same confession.
9:40Because it's crucial. There's no more crucial piece of information.
9:44As you start your research, you have to understand that nothing you read, watch, listen to from me this year or anyone else is black and white.
9:54It's all shades of gray. Opinions, really. Opinions presented as facts.
9:58As you go through this preseason and frankly life, you'll have a zillion folks tell you why this player is awesome and this other one's a bum.
10:09Why you can't leave your draft without this guy, but you got to let the others draft this other guy.
10:17And it's all just opinions on players. They'll throw facts and stats and snippets of game film to support their side.
10:25They'll share a cherry pick coach's quote or the three best plays from training camp to support their opinion and only that opinion.
10:34The challenge these days is not finding information. It's trying to wade through it all to decide what to believe and what to ignore.
10:43We live in an era of information overload. Look, take dumb old me for example, okay?

13:48because honestly, that's all any of us are really doing, taking a small piece of a big picture and making a call.
13:57Everything that follows is a 100% completely accurate fact.
14:00Some of them are about players. Some of them are about tendencies.
14:05And not a damn one tells the whole story.
14:09These are 100 facts you need to know before you draft in 2026.
14:14What you do with them is up to you.
14:17One, since 2020, the top four quarterbacks in fantasy points per game are Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and Kyler Murray.
14:26Two, dating back to 2019, there are four quarterbacks with 15-plus fantasy points per game in every single season.
14:33Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and Kyler Murray.
14:37Three, since Kevin O'Connell became the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, the team leads the NFL in red zone passing rate.
14:45Four, in three of KOC's four seasons as head coach, the Vikings have ranked top 10 in overall fantasy quarterback points per game.
14:54Four, A. Among KOC's QBs during that tenure were Kirk Cousins, Josh Dobbs, Nick Mullins, Jaron Hall, Carson Wentz, and at the time, journeyman Sam Darnold.
15:04Five, in every season that he has played at least eight games, Kyler Murray has finished as a top 12 fantasy quarterback in points per game.
15:14Six, according to Fantasy Life's terrific fantasy football ADP tool, which is free, Kyler Murray's ADP this year is QB 16.
15:23Six, A. Quarterback is crazy deep this season. Seven, since the start of 2022, Jared Goff has thrown for 18,206 yards.
15:31Eight, that's the most passing yards by any quarterback in football.
15:35Nine, in that same span, he's thrown 130 touchdown passes.
15:39Ten, that's also the most in the NFL. Eleven, in each of the last four years, the only one quarterback has finished
15:47as a top 10 fantasy quarterback in total points.
15:51Jared Goff, Eleven, A. Jared Goff is currently going as QB 17.
15:56Eleven, B. Quarterback is crazy deep this year. Twelve, starting in week six last year, no quarterback had more goal-to-go rushing attempts than Tyler Shuck.
16:05Thirteen. Tyler Shuck didn't start until week nine. Fourteen.
16:09Once he did take over as a starter, weeks nine through 18, Tyler Shuck was sixth in passing yards per game.
16:17Fifteen. He was the 12th best quarterback in fantasy points per game over that time frame as well.
16:24Fifteen, A. Tyler Shuck is currently being drafted as QB 20.
16:28Fifteen, B. Seriously, quarterback's crazy deep this year. Sixteen.
16:32Sixteen. Over the last three seasons, no player has a higher yards per attempt than Malik Willis.
16:38Seventeen. Over the last two years, the leader in fantasy points per dropback is Malik Willis.
16:45Eighteen. Nineteen. In six career starts, Malik Willis has averaged 44.8 rushing yards per game.
16:50Nineteen. Since 2020, there have been 21 instances of a quarterback averaging 35 or more rushing yards per game.
16:58Twenty. In 17 of them, the player finished as a top 10 quarterback in points per game that season.
17:05Twenty-A. Malik Willis is currently drafting as QB 23.
17:09Twenty-B. Dude, do I need to say it? Twenty-One.
17:12Over the last two seasons, no player has more combined passing yards per game and rushing yards per game than Brock Purdy.
17:21Twenty-two. Last year, Matthew Stafford led the NFL with a 7.7% passing touchdown rate.
17:26Twenty-three. The last five players to lead the NFL had their touchdown percentage rate drop significantly the following season.
17:34Twenty-four. Aaron Rodgers, twice, Patrick Mahomes, Brock Purdy, and Lamar Jackson.
17:38All dropped. Twenty-five. Only one non-QB has 13 or more touchdowns in each of the last three seasons.
17:45Kyron Williams. It's easier to understand when you're reading it, so I'm going to just explain this one.
17:52You got Matthew Stafford, touchdown rate's going down, so they're probably going to run more.
17:58Oh, by the way, there was only one guy that's got at least 13 rushing touchdowns in the last three seasons.
18:06Kyron Williams. Kyron Williams is underrated. All right. Sidebar over.
18:10Twenty-six. Only one running back has at least 1,500 rushing yards in each of the past two seasons.
18:17Derrick Henry. Twenty-seven. In 34 games for Baltimore, Derrick Henry has 34 touchdowns.
18:22Twenty-eight. Last year, no player had more goal-to-go rushing attempts than Derrick Henry.
18:27Twenty-nine. Over the past two years, Lamar Jackson has only two total carries inside on Ponus' five-yard line.
18:34Twenty-nine. I believe this is now the 379th straight year people say Derrick Henry is too old and is going to fall off.
18:43Thirty. Thirty-one. Last year, in games that Joe Ault played, Omari and Hampton averaged 2.87 yards before contact.
18:50Thirty-one. In games in which Joe Ault did not play, Omari and Hampton averaged 1.89 yards before contact.
18:57Thirty-one. Joe Ault is currently healthy. Thirty-two. Last year, the top three running backs in yards per route run, minimum of 150 routes, were B.
19:06John Robinson, Christian McCaffrey, and Jameer Gibbs. Thirty-three. Sixth on the list was Kenneth Walker.
19:12Thirty-three A. Not a stat, but an opportunity for a plug.
19:17On my Fantasy Football Happy Hour podcast, which is now on my own YouTube page, we had Dan Graziano on, and he
19:25was recently at Chiefs camp where he spoke with Andy Reid, who told him the plan is very much to get Walker involved in the passing game.
19:36Thirty-four. Last year, 27% of Travion Henderson's rushing yards came on 2% of his carries.
19:41Thirty-five. Thirty-five. Last year, Stevenson was third among running backs in fantasy points per touch, minimum 100 touches.
19:48Thirty-six A. Travion Henderson is going two and a half rounds ahead of Ramondre Stevenson.
19:54Thirty-seven. In each of the past three seasons, only nine running backs have produced at least 1,200 yards from scrimmage in each of the past three seasons.
20:05Jameer Gibbs, B. John Robinson, James Cook, Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry, Kyn Williams, Breece Hall, and DeAndre Swift.
20:12Thirty-eight A. Oh, and Tony Pollard. Thirty-nine. Back to Swift.
