All Yahoo Fantasy Football insights about Saquon Barkley

PositiveValueOct 21, 2026
Buy-low opportunity as Eagles switch from mobile Hurts to pocket passer Tanner McKee, which historically increases checkdowns to running backs; Barkley had only 7 targets in 4 games with Hurts due to receiving game issues, but remains productive with 9th in missed tackles forced and 15th in EPA per rush; Eagles' RB room has easiest remaining strength of schedule after facing 10th-toughest opponents; Week 7 matchup vs Dallas should help offense get back on track.
NegativeInjuryOct 19, 2026
Eagles lead back has been out the past two games nursing a hamstring injury. Philly desperately needs his services given Hurts is not expected to be back this season. With Barkley (and Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley out), the Eagles turned to Dameon Pierce, who got all the work out of the backfield in Week 6 against the Panthers, finishing with 35 yards on 12 carries but scoring a TD (13 fantasy points). If Barkley remains out, Pierce won't be a bad flex play against Dallas in Week 7. If Barkley is back, expect a heavy workload with McKee under center.
NegativeRoleSep 30, 2026
Barkley looks fantastic on tape with burst, spin moves, and quick decision-making that made him elite before, but he's hard to trust as a top-10 fantasy RB right now because the receiving role just isn't there. He's the RB42 in receptions per game (1.0), which limits his ceiling. He was the RB20 and RB26 in expected half PPR points in his two healthy games this year, and he'll always lose some goal-line touchdowns to Jalen Hurts. The Eagles couldn't carry over their early-season rushing success in short yardage, as Barkley failed on his two goal-line opportunities last week.
NegativeInjurySep 21, 2026
Got banged up in Week 2 against Nashville and returned to the game in name only. After missing nearly all of the first and second quarters, Barkley played a smattering of snaps after the break, finishing with only five touches compared to 24 combined for Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley. Barkley confirmed afterward he is heading for an MRI. The source notes the fact that Barkley 'finished the game' in theory bodes well for Week 3, especially since the Eagles get an extra day of rest ahead of Monday Night Football.
PositiveProjectionSep 16, 2026
Barkley is projected for 91.5 total yards in Week 2 at Tennessee. He looked awesome individually in Week 1, showing great long speed and tackle-breaking ability (seven per PFF), but was only awarded 0.2 yards before contact due to unblocked blitzers and LG Landon Dickerson (IR, knee) playing injured. The other four linemen looked great, and OC Sean Mannion's run-game approach was solid. Barkley only had one reception but was involved in multiple pass plays (swing pass, reception called back on a hold, drop in the flats, slot WR bubble screen), suggesting increased receiving involvement going forward. The Titans defense remains a work in progress; both Breece Hall and Braelon Allen ran well against them (152 rush yards was seventh-most in Week 1). The Eagles are a different story than the Jets and project for 23.25 points (15th) as touchdown favorites on the road.
PositiveValueSep 1, 2026
The source identifies Barkley as part of the second tier of running backs in the 10th pick range, alongside De'Von Achane, James Cook, Chase Brown, Kenneth Walker III, and Derrick Henry. The source chose Barkley over James Cook at pick 10, citing his presence in a good offensive ecosystem with commanding touches and describing him as a weekly lineup staple requiring minimal worry. The source emphasizes that Barkley and Brown provide peace of mind and a nice weekly floor.
NegativeBustAug 31, 2026
Despite strong touch volume in 2025 (70% rushing share, 12% target rate, 48% goal-line share), Barkley finished as RB14 in a down year for the Eagles offense. His per-touch efficiency declined: success rate fell from 49.0% (2024) to 40.7% (2025); adjusted yards after contact per attempt dropped from 3.2 to 2.7; explosive rushing rate declined from 8.7% to 7.1%. While the Eagles' offensive line had some absences (three of five starters missed time), the unit remained relatively healthy overall, and Lane Johnson and Landon Dickerson's health remain concerns. The source projects continued growing pains with a potential RB14 outcome again, meaning drafting him as RB6 only softens the blow without eliminating the risk.
