Solak proposes the Chiefs send a 2027 third-round pick and 2028 conditional fifth-round pick to the Cowboys for Pickens. The rationale: Pickens and Joey Porter Jr. are both playing on contract years for Dallas, making it unlikely the Cowboys extend both at market rates. If Pickens would recoup a third-round compensatory pick in free agency, the Chiefs can sweeten the pot with a future conditional pick and give Dallas their comp pick without manipulating the formula.

Pickens is upgraded for Week 8 vs. the Cardinals, who rank No. 32 in defensive pass DVOA (34.9%). He has picked it up since Week 4 (14.0 fantasy points per game, 21-335-2 receiving, 33 targets, 77 Utilization Score) after a slow start in Weeks 1-3 (7.7 fantasy points per game, 16-150-0 receiving, 25 targets, 69 Utilization Score). The Cowboys are indoors at home with a boosted home-field advantage. The Cardinals could be without CB Max Melton (knee), FS Andrew Wingard (knee), and No. 1 CB Will Johnson (neck, IR).

Pickens responded to criticism from his head coach about effort in the running game by making 'one of his best plays of the season' on a 4th-down conversion touchdown. The source praises his elite catch execution: 'the effort by Pickens to catch the ball cleanly off first contact with his hands is top-notch. To have the wherewithal to get both of his feet in bounds to complete the process of the catch was elite.' The touchdown resulted from Schottenheimer's decision to go for it on fourth down.
