Crowell had an outlier performance in week five of the 2018 season against the Broncos: 219 yards on 15 carries (14.6 yards per carry, an NFL record) including runs of 77, 54, and 36 yards, behind an offensive line of Spencer Long, James Carpenter, Brian Winters, Kelvin Beachum, and Brandon Shell. However, this success was a false dawn; he averaged just 3.4 yards per carry over the rest of the season and never played in the NFL again thereafter. The Broncos' run defense wasn't even particularly bad, holding opponents under 100 rushing yards in nine of 16 games that year.
