Crowell's week five performance against the Broncos in 2018 was a dominant outlier that created false optimism about the Jets' offensive line: on 15 carries, he racked up 219 yards (setting an NFL record for yards per carry) with runs of 77, 54, and 36 yards in a game where the Jets rushed for 324 total yards; however, he averaged just 3.4 yards per carry over the rest of the season and never played in the NFL again thereafter, and the offensive line's success evaporated almost immediately with all five starters off the team by the end of the following season.
