Yahoo Sports NFL on Isaiah Crowell
From the article
On 15 carries, Crowell racked up 219 yards, setting an NFL record for yards per carry. This included runs of 77, 54 and 36 yards. He did this behind an offensive line that was comprised of Spencer Long, James Carpenter, Brian Winters, Kelvin Beachum and Brandon Shell.
STACKED’s take
Crowell's 219-yard game set NFL yards-per-carry record but was a complete outlier.
Crowell had a spectacular outlier performance in week five of the 2018 season against the Broncos: on 15 carries, he racked up 219 yards (setting an NFL record for yards per carry) with runs of 77, 54, and 36 yards, as the Jets beat Denver with Sam Darnold throwing three touchdowns and the team improving to 2-3. The Jets' rushing attack totaled 324 yards with Bilal Powell adding 99 yards on 20 carries. This performance, combined with a convincing win the following week, suggested the Jets had their offensive line locked up for years with Spencer Long, James Carpenter, Brian Winters, Kelvin Beachum, and Brandon Shell. However, the success evaporated almost immediately; all five linemen were off the team by the end of the following season. Crowell never reached those heights again, averaging 3.4 yards per carry over the rest of 2018 and never playing in the NFL again thereafter.
