Crowell's 219-yard game set NFL yards-per-carry record but was a complete outlier.

Crowell had a dominant outlier performance in week five of the 2018 season against the Broncos, rushing for 219 yards on 15 carries—setting an NFL record for yards per carry—with runs of 77, 54, and 36 yards as the Jets beat Denver with Sam Darnold throwing three touchdowns. The performance suggested the Jets had found an unstoppable offensive line and great running back tandem, but the success evaporated almost immediately; Crowell averaged just 3.4 yards per carry over the rest of the season and never played in the NFL again thereafter. All five offensive linemen (Spencer Long, James Carpenter, Brian Winters, Kelvin Beachum, Brandon Shell) were off the team by the end of the following season.
