Alec Pierce

NegativeInjury18:59

Pierce is limited with a heel injury, and JJ Zachariason expresses nervousness about his outlook, noting that he may not see many targets if he isn't running free against the Ravens' defense.

Insight page

Bucky Irving

PositiveUsage10:28

The potential absence of Sean Tucker improves Bucky Irving's opportunities to score, as Tucker held a significant role in the offense last year.

Insight page

Drake London

NegativeProjection5:14

Dave Richard advises starting London despite the quarterback uncertainty with Cooper Rush, though expectations should be lowered; Rush's tendency to throw downfield is viewed as a positive for London's potential.

Insight page

George Kittle

PositiveUsage13:36

Kittle played 68% of snaps and recorded five catches for 42 yards, with a touchdown called back; he remains a viable fantasy option despite the limited snap count.

Insight page

Jakobi Meyers

PositiveInjury17:25

Meyers is dealing with a thumb issue and was limited in practice; JJ Zachariason advises against starting him, noting that his presence could negatively impact the target volume for Parker Washington and Brian Thomas Jr.

Insight page

Jordan Love

PositiveInjury9:02

Jordan Love was limited in practice on Wednesday, but coach LaFleur expressed optimism, and he is currently expected to play in Week 1.

Insight page

Josh Downs

PositiveValue20:11

JJ Zachariason expresses more interest in Josh Downs for the upcoming week compared to Alec Pierce, who is dealing with a heel injury.

Insight page

Josh Jacobs

PositiveValue3:26

Dave Richard suggests that drafters who secured Jacobs with a late-round pick will be happy, as he is expected to play after serving a likely six-game suspension for domestic violence; time served on the commissioner's exempt list will count toward that suspension.

Insight page

Kenyon Sadiq

NegativeSleeper20:15

JJ Zachariason suggests stashing Sadiq but does not expect significant production or target volume in his first game against Tennessee due to limited training camp participation.

Insight page

Kyle Pitts

NegativeProjection5:14

Dave Richard recommends starting Pitts but notes that his fantasy outlook is tied to the quarterback's style; while the Szywanski offense features the tight end as a primary read, Pitts benefits more from a quarterback who gets the ball out quickly rather than one who holds it to throw downfield.

Insight page

Malik Nabers

PositiveProjection14:05

Nabers is trending toward playing against Dallas and is considered a top-21 wide receiver for the week, with JJ Zachariason feeling cautiously optimistic about his performance.

Insight page

Michael Mayer

PositiveProjection7:12

JJ Zachariason suggests starting Michael Mayer over Kyle Pitts if Cooper Rush is the starting quarterback for the Falcons, citing a favorable matchup against the Dolphins.

Insight page

Rome Odunze

NegativeMatchup15:34

Odunze is dealing with a foot injury and faces a tough matchup against the Panthers' secondary, specifically J.C. Horn, which could limit his production on the perimeter.

0:00I have a good friend who's almost done with his GLP-1 journey, and one major lesson he learned is that when you're
0:07in a calorie deficit, nutrients per calorie matter more than anything.

1:57Get started today. Week one injury update right now on FFT Express.
2:01We've got a lot to update you on, including the latest in the Josh Jacobs case.
2:06Right now, Dave Richard, the latest in the Josh Jacobs case.
2:10He has pleaded no contest. What are we thinking right now for Jacobs?
2:14I think if you drafted him with a late-round pick, you'll be happy.
2:18I would expect him to play after serving some sort of a suspension, and I don't think it'll be season long.
2:25Typically, the NFL suspends players a minimum of six games for domestic violence.
2:29I would imagine that would be the case here.
2:32We just don't know when that's going to be announced.
2:35Until then, he's going to be on the commissioner's exempt list.
2:38But one thing to point out, you get credit for games.
2:42However you say it, time served, I think is probably the best way to put it.
2:47You get credit for time served if you're on the exempt list, and then you're given a suspension.
2:52So let's just say the ruling doesn't come out until week three, but he's been on the exempt list this whole time.
2:59The games he's missed count toward the suspension. And we'll keep an eye on that.
3:04Now, Tua Tunga Wailoa hurt his oblique. Remember, Michael Penix Jr.
3:08is not ready to go yet. So it could be Cooper Rush going to Pittsburgh to quarterback the Falcons this week.
3:14Fun. Would you even start Drake London and Kyle Pitts if that were the case?
3:19Absolutely would start both of them. I would lower expectations for both.
3:23But I remember when Cooper Rush was starting in Dallas, I want to say it was 2024.
3:28It was. Played a bunch of games, and CeeDee Lamb had some big games.
3:33So I don't mind one of those guys with high expectations.
3:36And you don't want to miss out on Kyle Pitts being the other.
3:40Remember, and this is something that Heath talked about a lot during the offseason and preseason.
3:45The Szywanski offense will call for the tight end to be the primary read in a bunch of plays.
3:51It's just a matter of will it happen enough?
3:54And I think with any quarterback that's going to look downfield, it works against Kyle Pitts.
3:59It works for Drake London. Any quarterback that's just trying to get the ball out fast works out better for Pitts, not as much for Drake London.
4:08And I think Cooper Rush sort of falls in between those two buckets.
4:12Not that he's necessarily the most accurate or best thrower to actually be the guy out there.
4:17And it doesn't help that he hasn't worked a ton with them.
4:21Remember, he joined the Falcons late during training camp.
4:24So this is an interesting spot. I think you lower expectations for both London and Pitts, but you start them both.
4:31Yeah, but I'd start Michael Mayer over Pitts if Cooper Rush is going to be the quarterback.
4:36I'm not there. I know some of you guys are just crazy about Michael Mayer.
4:41No, I'm not. I'm not. But the Dolphins are such a good matchup.
4:45And I thought the same thing about Cooper Rush.
4:48Let me just say Cooper Rush in those eight games in 2024 with the Cowboys.
4:53He wasn't bad. Like CeeDee Lamb wasn't bad. But Cooper Rush had an 86.6 passer rating, 6.2 yards per attempt.
4:59He was on pace for 3,564 yards, 23 touchdowns.
5:02So it wasn't really that good. And then I thought, you know what?
5:06He's going to come in and be all right for the Ravens last year.
5:10And he was terrible. And he got benched for Tyler Huntley.
5:14So I do have that kind of stuck in my head.
5:17You know, it's risky. But all right, that's the Falcon situation.
5:21All right, yeah. What are the other big injuries we're looking at right now?
5:25Which position do you want to start with? Because there's a bunch at every single one of the major positions.
5:32Well, in terms of players who might actually miss a game, I don't think we have any quarterbacks other than Tua, right?
5:39No, he's the only one. Mahomes practiced in full on Thursday.
5:42Jeremiah Love. What are we hearing here? Limited on Wednesday.
5:45LaFleur is optimistic, saying, quote, we feel good about where they are with Jeremiah Love.
5:50And we should say for the record, we're recording this Thursday afternoon.
5:54Yeah. So we don't have the latest from Arizona Thursday afternoon.
5:57Friday, obviously, is a day away. You're going to have to check the injury report on CBSSports.com.
6:03But for now, limited, expected to play. Sounds like someone who's going to be probably a No.
6:082 fantasy running back for a lot of people.
6:11All right. Ashton Jensie's going to play. Jonathan Brooks says he expects to play.
6:15Or, yeah, he said he expects to play. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
6:19And Chuba Hubbard isn't even on the injury report.
6:22So Carolina will have both of their backs against Chicago.
6:25Okay. We're going to talk about that game on Friday's episode.
6:28Sean Tucker may not play. Is that going to make a big difference for you with Bucky Irving?
6:34I think it improves Bucky Irving's opportunities to score.
6:37We know that that's a big role that Sean Tucker had last year.
6:41So it could swing a decision or two for Bucky fantasy managers.
6:45Okay. We're going to take a look at wide receivers when we come back.
6:49And maybe we'll talk a little bit more about Brock Bowers and Kenyon Sadiq.
6:54First round pick. Super fast. Super athletic tight end for the Jets.
6:57He's been practicing in full. Hopefully he gets out there.
7:01We'll be right back on Fantasy Football Today Express.

8:16Maybe the biggest week one question, well, is George Kittle, but he's going to play tonight.
8:21Depending on what you hear of this, you know he's going to play.
8:25And hopefully- He may have already played. How did he do?
8:29Adam, what did you think of how George Kittle played?
8:32You know, considering he only played 68% of the snaps, I thought he did really well.
8:37Five catches, 42 yards, had a touchdown called back, almost had a really big game.
8:42I guess people will take that 9.2 full PPR.
8:45But Malik Nabors, it's a Sunday night game, and it looks like he's going to play.
8:50We're optimistic, right? He was a little coy about it with the media, and he said it's going to be up to
8:57him if he plays and how much he plays, but John Harbaugh said he was ready to go earlier this week.
9:03So I'm thinking Malik Nabors is going to play.
9:06He's been ramping up all training camp long. I'm cautiously optimistic we're going to have a nice game from Nabors against Dallas.
9:13Is he a top 20 guy? He is. Give me a second to bring up my latest receiver rankings.
9:19He is a top 21 guy. Oh, okay. Okay.
9:22And I guess we can't sit here and say definitively that Malik Nabors is going to play, but it's trending in the right direction.
9:30Same thing with Emeka Abuka. Maybe Jalen McMillan will get out there this week.
9:34He's been limited. What about Romo Dunze? He was limited on Wednesday.
9:38We don't have the latest on Thursday. Obviously, it's an issue if he's not at 100% in an offense that has Colson Loveland, has Luther Burden.
9:46Burden's been talked up a ton. Loveland's been talked up a ton.
9:50We've been focusing on Romo Dunze and his weird foot.
9:53And on top of that, the Panthers secondary has some good corners on the outside.
9:58J.C. Horn, chief among them. They could do a decent job limiting Oduze on the perimeter, and that's usually where he lines up.
10:05There's also another issue in Chicago. Their left tackle, Ozzy Trapillo's not going to play.
10:10That does mean some possible concern for their left side of their offensive line.
10:14Never a good thing when you've got a right-handed quarterback like the Bears have.
10:19Yeah, against kind of an underrated defense that got Jalen Phillips' offseason.
10:23Maybe. They've tried to improve their defense in Carolina.
10:25We'll see how they do. Jalen Phillips is their best pass rusher.
10:29Yeah, and it's a big deal. I think they were 15th in points per game last year, so it's not like they were a bad defense or anything.
10:38It's about average. Right, exactly. That's why I call them underrated.
10:42I don't think people consider Carolina even an average defense maybe.
10:45Jacoby Myers, Dave, this is an interesting development. He's got a thumb issue.
10:49I guess we'd have to say he's questionable. Well, we don't know.
10:53He was limited on Wednesday, but he's been trending in the right direction for more than a week, so there's definitely a
11:00chance that he could play for Jacksonville, and he would obviously take some target volume away from both Parker Washington and Brian
11:07Thomas Jr., and it could be especially concerning if the Jaguars don't have to throw a lot in this game.
11:13We're figuring it's a one-sided game. Cleveland's offense isn't very good.
11:17Their defense is interesting, but they're probably in that same boat at this point as Carolina where we're just not sure how
11:24much better or worse from league average they are.
11:27So I'm not starting Jacoby Myers in any leagues, but if he's playing, it might put a twinge of sadness into your
11:34expectations for Parker Washington and Brian Thomas Jr. Myers was wearing a non-contact jersey on Thursday.
11:39Alec Pierce has been limited with a heel injury, so this is different than what's kept him out for so long because now he's got a heel issue.
11:47Could be related to the injury that he was sidelined with too.
11:51We don't know what's going on there, but Pierce at not 100% could be just somebody that runs downfield a lot.
11:58And the Ravens previously, previous iterations of this defense would play a lot of man coverage.
12:03I don't think they're going to do that this year.
12:06So unless he's running free, I don't know how many targets he's going to get.
12:11He makes me nervous this week. I'm much more interested in Josh Downs.
12:15What do you think about Kenyon Sadiq? I think I want to stash him.
12:19I wouldn't expect much from somebody who didn't get a lot of training camp in.
12:24And he's obviously getting healthy at the right time, but I'm just not convinced that we're going to see Sadiq getting a
12:31lot of work and getting a lot of targets in this first game against Tennessee.
12:36Yeah. All right. That is it for fantasy football today.
12:39Express all of your injuries. We'll update you again on Friday morning on The Big Show.
12:44And for Dave, I'm Adam. Also, we have a mailbag coming up tomorrow.
12:48Should be fun. For Dave, I'm Adam. Have a great day.
12:52Talk to you later on fantasy football today. On podcasts.
