The source notes that Bo Nix has looked shaky through two games, despite some improvement in week two, and remains a concern for the Broncos.

Insight page

Bryce Young

PositiveProjection61:10

The source argues that Bryce Young's recent statistical success is 'smoke and mirrors' driven by weak matchups and immaculate pockets, noting that his per-dropback metrics are poor, including high off-target throw rates.

Insight page

NegativeProjection65:22

The source argues that the Texans are not real Super Bowl contenders, suggesting that C.J. Stroud and the team's defense could sink their chances.

David Njoku was carted off the field with a knee injury.

Insight page

Derrick Henry

NegativeUsage25:00

Derrick Henry is being severely underutilized by the Ravens, particularly in the second half of games. Despite the team holding a lead, Henry received only five carries in the second half against the Saints, a decision described as 'idiocy' and 'blasphemy' given his talent and the team's offensive line strengths.

Insight page

DK Metcalf

NegativeBust41:47

Insight page

Sam Darnold

PositiveInjury70:51

The source mentions the return of Sam Darnold as a positive factor for the Seahawks' Super Bowl prospects.

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

NegativeInjury7:19

Saquon Barkley left the game with a stinger but was able to return, though he did not produce significant stats after re-entering.

Insight page

Ted Hurst

NegativeUsage38:08

While Ted Hurst is a talented player, he should not be the primary focal point of the Buccaneers' passing offense, yet he led the team in targets in week two.

0:00This is an iHeart Podcast. Guaranteed Human. Your back to school checklist is complete.
0:04Or so you thought. You've got the notebooks, the sneakers, and 42 glue sticks, just in case.
0:09But what's your plan for the first strep throat?
0:12The first ear infection? The stomach bug that hits at 2am the night before picture day?
0:16That's the part of the checklist nobody writes down.
0:19Jace Medical does. The Jace Kids Case gives your family a physician-prescribed supply of the medications kids actually need, ready before the school year throws its first curveball.
0:27Add a Jace case for the grown-ups and a Jace Aid First Aid Kit, and the whole household is covered, from playground scrapes to weekend fevers.
0:34You wouldn't send your kid to school without a backpack.
0:37Don't send your family into flu season without a plan.
0:40Finish the checklist at Jace.com. That's J-A-S-E dot com.
0:43Jace Medical. Physician-led. Mission-driven. Hello everybody, welcome into the tailgate.
0:45I am Ryan Wormley, joined by Andrew Erickson and Derek Brown.
0:49We are reacting to week two of the NFL season, and Debro is rude.
0:53That's pretty much all I have to say about the jersey that he's wearing.
0:57No, no, fair's fair. He had to pull it out after the Saints pulled out a miracle win with the Ravens getting
1:03hosed on a call on fourth down at the end of the game, which I don't, I'm not really saying with my
1:09full chest because the Saints also got hosed on other plays in that sequence.
1:13So it's poor officiating all around in that goal line sequence, really.
1:17We'll get into that game more in a second.
1:19Debro, how are you doing here on week two?
1:22Doing really well, Worm. I decided to dust off an old jersey, and for everybody at home, this is not liquid death.
1:28This is a lovely can full of Ravens tears.
1:31I'm just going to enjoy it on the show.
1:34So it's a good Monday, boys. How are y'all doing?
1:36Would have been doing better if the Ravens won, but still doing well.
1:40Tough week two, Erickson. Lots of injuries that we're going to get to in a moment.
1:45Lots of low scoring games. I think I saw it was in the Sunday afternoon slate.
1:49Week one was something like 54 points per game total.
1:52And week two, that Sunday afternoon slate was like 36 per game.
1:56Like it was just a cratered compared to the offense we saw in week one.
2:00Terrible betting week. Yeah, a lot of unders came through, which typically is what happens when you have one week where there's a lot of overs that hit.
2:08Things always regressed to the mean and mother nature played a part as well.
2:12A lot of games there was rain, wind, etc.
2:15We had that crazy delay with the Buccaneers and Browns game that really kind of like took all the wind out of
2:21any comeback that Tampa Bay could have had on that final drive where I mean again, revisit history.
2:26You know, when you're looking back at could they have made that comeback if the fans were in the stadium at the
2:33time and it was just so again, a lot of different factors are play here.
2:37But the fact that the Browns and Buccaneers had to go down to the wire, I mean inexcusable by Tampa Bay, who
2:43is now 0 and 11 against the spread and their last 11 games, which is the ongoing record since the Super Bowl
2:50era of when we tracked teams going against the spread.
2:52So basically, I know we talked about this on the look ahead show where but you could have your own treasure island
2:59if you just bet against the Buccaneers against the spread over the last 11 games.
3:03I believe last night on the show, you said that you could find some Pirates booty and it made me want Tampa to trade for Kayshawn booty.
3:11So then we could have a real Pirates booty in Tampa.
3:14But the phrasing on this show has been elite so far.
3:17I just got it. I just have to point that out.
3:20But anyway. But yeah, we're actually going to talk a lot about the NFC South on today's show.
3:26We have some kind of big takeaways from the week coming up and a lot of us are hitting on at least one team in the NFC South.
3:34So we're gonna be talking more about all those games.
3:36Before we get into that, though, we do need to jump into the news and notes.
3:41The real highlight of the week, frankly, if you're looking at headlines is the injuries.
3:45There was so many of them really frustrating week in terms of just watching guys go down.
3:50A handful of them went back into the games, but a lot of these guys, you know, obviously did not return.
3:56I actually pulled up a tweet from Roto-Wire just because they had a lot of the names and specifically the injury.
4:02It's literally like over a dozen. So there's a lot to go through.
4:06I'm just going to read from the tweet here.
4:09So I just want to give them credit. Roto-Wire NFL.
4:12But Caleb Williams, hamstring, obviously didn't return. He had imaging today, and I actually will note that Tom Pellicero from The Ringer
4:18and Netflix did tweet out that it doesn't appear to be that serious of an injury for Caleb.
4:23And in fact, he might play. They're not ruling him out yet for this upcoming Monday.
4:28Would be surprising to me if he plays given how that looks, but wanted to note that they have not quite ruled him out yet.
4:35Jayden Daniels definitely will not play anytime soon. He dislocated that same left elbow again.
4:39Saquon Barkley left with a stinger. He did return to the game, but obviously didn't like do much upon coming back.
4:45J.K. Dobbins had a small hamstring issue, but we know his injury history there.
4:49Freako Dowdle with the toe did not return. Aaron Jones with the knee.
4:53Jonathan Brooks with the groin. He's day-to-day. Jadarian Price, chest x-rays were negative there.
4:57Mike Evans left with the hip. Shanahan says he's fine.
5:00Jayden Reed was carted off with the neck. A very scary injury.
5:03Does have movement in all his extremities. Again, I'm reading from the Roto-Wire tweet here with some of these updates.
5:09Alec Pierce had another injury, and he did not return on Sunday Night Football.
5:13X-rays were negative, but he was seen in crutches and a boot when he was leaving the stadium.
5:18Dallas Goddard with the knee. David Njoku carted off with the knee.
5:22Charlie Kolar with the forearm. Eli Raritan did not return as well.
5:25Caleb Douglas was in a walking boot after the game, too.
5:28I didn't see that one during the game. Ashton Gentry left his game with an ankle.
5:33He did return at the end of that game against the Chargers.
5:36R.J. Harvey obviously just didn't play today. He didn't get hurt today.
5:40He didn't play going into the day. I think that's all of them.
5:44Oh, and then Erickson. Mike Onwenu, is pronouncing that right?
5:47He, Patriots guard, who you said was, in your opinion, sort of their best offensive lineman.
5:51He is probably out for the season as well.
5:54Let me catch my breath. D-Bro, what's the headline amongst the injuries here for you?
5:58What's the one you want to hit on? I think the one that's most pressing to me, and we have, dude, it was insane.
6:05Just a bloodbath of a week. The injury, Ferry, was very, very busy.
6:09The big one for me is the Jaden Daniels injury because I think with this elbow dislocation, like obviously, because he injured
6:15it falling to the ground and trying to brace himself and had another elbow dislocation, very similar to what happened last year.
6:21He opted for no surgery at that point. I think that he probably goes for the surgery at this point because obviously those ligaments are not tight.
6:29They need surgical intervention because if he comes back, which last time I think he missed like four games last year, if
6:35he opts for surgery, I just want everybody to understand from everything that I've gathered from people in DMs and smarter people
6:42medical-wise than I am, if he opts for surgery, which is I think like probably the way that he goes, it's probably season ending.
6:49So the impact of that, Marcus Mariota being their starter for the rest of the season is massive because, dude, Jane Daniels looked amazing.
6:56Like when he was on the field, like first the Cowboys in week two, like he looked really freaking good and was having a wonderful game.
7:03And then this takes him, could take him out for the rest of the season, but all the rest of these are horrible.
7:10Like Jane Reed, the neck issue, like again, season ending probably like at least at this point, like, I mean, you worry
7:16most of like when you get nervous system stuff like neck and back and things and you know how that plays out.
7:22Now, maybe I'm wrong on Jane Reed, but man, it looks really rough.
7:26If I was going to hit a third player here, Alec Pierce dealing with the heel issue, like throughout training camp, we
7:32were worried about other compensatory injuries considering the disparity in the size of his legs coming into this hamstring issues, other things like that.
7:39But the heel being a problem, like he couldn't even bear weight on it after the game.
7:44Like he was in a boot and on crutches.
7:47So how long is he going to be out?
7:49And it's not like, I know they put up a crap ton of points, but thank Jonathan Taylor for that because the
7:56Colts passing attack does not look good. Like Daniel Jones just looks like a younger version of Kirk Cousins right now.
8:02We should all talk about the Jane Daniels one because that obviously is the biggest, probably the most overall impactful one for
8:08fantasy, just given the players and the commanders offense and the fact that he could be out for a very long time,
8:14you know, unlike what it's sounding like with Caleb Williams in terms of the other quarterback on this list.
8:20I mean, how do you not get surgery, Erickson?
8:23Like at this point, if this is going to keep happening, like you can't be an NFL player who you're worried every
8:29time they fall to the ground, they're going to accidentally re-dislocate their elbow.
8:33And if it becomes more and more easy to do this, the more and more times it happens, then I feel like
8:39surgery is kind of a no brainer. I mean, not that I'm a doctor or have any knowledge of this information, but
8:45it feels like the likely outcome here, right? I think so.
8:48If Jane Daniels is really trying to take care of himself and his future in the NFL.
8:53However, I don't think that that necessarily bodes well for Dan Quinn, the head coach who we've talked about as, if it's
9:00not Aaron Glenn, that's the first head coach fired.
9:02Who are the other names on that list? Jim Harbaugh says hi.
9:06Was one of them. Jim Harbaugh, again, is he following in his brother's footsteps of fizzling out the head coach of the
9:12Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Todd Bowles, another team. Again, 0-11, that's not all on Baker.
9:16That's also reflective of the head coach in that you are going into these games expected to not just cover, but to like to win and perform well.
9:24And they have underwhelmed first expectation for 11 straight weeks.
9:27That is atrocious. Especially when you look at the roster, the Buccaneers don't have like the worst roster in the NFL.
9:33It's not like the best roster, but it's still one, especially when you play in a crappy division like the NFC South
9:39and you're losing at home against the Cleveland Browns with Deshaun Watts as a quarterback.
9:44That's just not acceptable. So I think that there's kind of like conflicting interests here because Dan Quinn probably doesn't want Jane
9:50Daniels to go on season ending on injured reserve because he's trying to save his job.
9:55But if it's the Marcus Mariota show, we saw this last year, right?
9:58It's okay. It's fine. But what's the biggest thing with the commanders is their defense still sucks.
10:03It is still so horrible and nothing has really changed.
10:06I know they added Sonny Stiles and he's had some plays through the first couple of weeks of the season, but secondary is just so...
10:13The Dallas Cowboys could do anything. Dak Prescott could do anything he wanted against that secondary.
10:18Mike Sanderson cannot cover anybody. Dude, like he has regressed immensely from his rookie year where he looked like, oh, they found someone here.
10:25Not the case whatsoever. CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, all these receivers for Dallas could just do whatever they wanted against the commanders defense.
10:31And Dak was basically flawless in that game without a run game, right?
10:35They were just dropping back to throw every single time and the commanders had no answers for it.
10:40So if this defense can't get it together, I think Dan Quinn, when you look at just the schedule for the commanders, L, L, L.
10:48I mean, if you start 0-8, like someone's got to get axed.
10:51And is it really fair to fire David Blau when our starting quarterback got hurt?
10:55But if the defense is so, so bad, so that's, again, not just a reflective about Jane Daniels, which is kind of
11:02like the ripple effects of this injury compounding on, okay, this is another commander season that's potentially down the toilet.
11:07And it really, really sucks because Jane Daniels is such a super talented player, but now two years in a row.
11:14And it's not the, oh, well, he's really slender.
11:16He likes to run. I mean, this was kind of like a freak play.
11:20Like he trips over his offensive lineman who steps on his foot on a handoff play.
11:25He's trying to brace himself. So it wasn't him being reckless and running around.
11:29Cause I know that people always pinpoint him as out of LSU.
11:32He's like, this guy's really skinny. He's going to get banged up.
11:36But I mean, he, to Debro's point, he was playing excellent against Dallas and especially using his legs.
11:41So which to your point, Erickson, like, did you notice also, like, I don't know how many people caught this game and
11:47stuff when he was out of the pocket, he was extremely careful yesterday too.
11:51You saw him sliding way beforehand and playing very under control.
11:54Like, just to highlight your point here. Yeah. So, so that's kind of it for, uh, for, for Jane Daniels in terms
12:01of the other injuries, um, generic price getting banged up.
12:04That's concerning for a rookie. And just the way that the Seahawks are kind of going to operate with waiting for Zach Sharman to come back.
12:11They just kind of fed Emmanuel Wilson in the second half of that game against Arizona Cardinals with a big lead.
12:17David Njoku getting carted off the field as the Chargers injuries start to pile up.
12:21I think we didn't mention him, but Lad McConkie, the fact that the Chargers offense can't do anything unless he's on the field.
12:28I, that's my, that's a Mike McDaniel problem. We're going to talk about it later.
12:32And I don't have the exact snap counts. Cause I just haven't looked specifically right back at that game with Lad, but
12:39he definitely was not playing a full-time role, but you could tell the force of the passing game was always going through
12:45Lad whenever he did line up, even picked up like a big third, third down conversion.
12:50The one drive the Chargers had that was actually good.
12:53It's because Lad was on the field. So the entire off season, they built the entire ship out of Lad and the
12:59minute that he goes down, they have no answers to change or pivot.
13:03So that's concerning when it comes to the Chargers offensive outlook, rest of season, but man, laundry list of injuries.
13:08And I do have to mention that we also suffered this in our fan tracks league because we started Dallas Goddard.
13:14Um, he got hurt last week. Um, and we are, our fingers crossed on a one Mr.
13:19Puka Nakua to get us out of this hole.
13:22Oh dear. What do we need for him to win?
13:25Oh dear. We need 20 points. Real fast. Lad McConkie at a 67.7% route share, uh, yesterday.
13:30So actually that's, uh, his snap share was only 45%.
13:33So he was basically out there whenever they decided to throw and that was, and he was a full-time player in that respect, but still not great.
13:40And then, um, these just kind of hit the timeline just for everybody, uh, to be aware of as well.
13:46Derwin James fractured pinky. All he's going to play with the cast.
13:49Kelvin banks again, massive loss for the normal saints with a high ankle sprain and the lions get even worse on the
13:56back end of onto Maddox out for the season with surgery on his foot.
14:00So Packers also lost three offensive linemen. Lee dude.
14:02And that was already not a good O line, but by the way, I read it in the initial list and neither of you guys hit on it.
14:11I do think it's worth mentioning. Like again, JK Dobbins has a very long injury that we talked about all summer long.
14:17Should talk about that. Uh, RJ Harvey did not play going into this game already, as mentioned real runway here.
14:23I know, I know they said it was a minor hamstring thing for Dobbins, but again, we know how this has escalated
14:29for him before real runway for, for Jonah Coleman.
14:32So, um, if he is available, if you're in a shower, shallower league, absolute, obviously biggest must add of the week off waivers.
14:38And if you, you know, if you isn't available, like, I mean, I don't know what the, if, if you can't even
14:44try and go trade from anything, but there's a real possibility for an early season breakout from, from the rookie.
14:50So last point before we get off injuries. And this was something I almost put as my reality check.
14:56It's just a reminder of how important depth is in the NFL and how it really is healthy.
15:01Part of it's a lot to do with luck, but also embracing the fact that, Hey, we're going to get injuries throughout the season.
15:08We make sure that we have depth. And those are the teams that end up being there at the finish line.
15:14And it's not a coincidence. And I, I've dropped this stat, which is like talking to buddies and going on other shows.
15:20But last year, who were the two healthiest teams?
15:23Seahawks Patriots. It's not a coincidence that they were also the two teams that were in the Superbowl last year.
15:29So teams are all going to deal with injuries, some more than others, but it's a matter of how the depth steps
15:35up in the absence of your top playmakers. We didn't mention him as well, but Texans, no Nego Collins.
15:40Where's the offense? Non-existent against the Cincinnati Bengals. Hey, Dalton Schultz doing his best.
15:44Brock Bowers. Thank you very much for week two.
15:47Okay. Yeah. How many touchdowns are they scored? No, I don't disagree.
15:50I don't disagree. I'm just saying. David Montgomery had zero carries in the second half.
15:55Oh, dude, their, their offense looked broken. Yes. I don't, I don't disagree.
15:58No, it's a lesson that we forget every summer.
16:01It feels like, and then are harshly reminded of every September.
16:04Everybody looks so great on paper, man. Like on paper.
16:07It's just like, it's like in Matt, it's like, just can we turn off injuries?
16:11Please. I mean, Ravens are another example of Zay didn't play going into today.
16:15The offense looked different without him. And we pointed out in the second half of the Colts game last week, like you
16:22lose your stars and it makes a real difference.
16:24Speaking of the Ravens, just quickly, one other bit of news that I want to mention.
16:29There are some rumors going around yesterday morning that Ravens Cowboys might have to get moved from Rio due to field conditions there.
16:36I haven't seen this as any kind of official report.
16:38This is not me trying to break news or anything.
16:41Um, it's some people that I have known in the past to be pretty well connected with the Ravens saying that the
16:48NFL is looking at maybe moving this game just to Dallas.
16:51Cause it would be a Cowboys home game if it wasn't in Brazil.
16:55Um, and that the, the field conditions in Rio are not playable.
16:58I'm just mentioning it as somebody to keep an eye on.
17:01Maybe it was just a rumor that doesn't go anywhere.
17:04Maybe it ends up being true, but obviously that would change how we think about this game and, uh, and the, the
17:10teams and just the travel and everything. So I wanted to at least mention that, uh, even if there's speaking of injuries, bad field.
17:17I mean, you know, listen to as a Ravens fan, I'm desperate for them to move this to Dallas.
17:23I do not want to risk seeing my team play in, in Brazil and it could turn into like a giant home
17:29game, you know, turf monster, hamstring monster says hi to everybody.
17:32Well, the last time we had this happen, it was the Mexico game, right?
17:36Right. The Friday game. Yeah. Yeah. They played in Brazil.
17:39The field was like coming up in chunks. Yeah.
17:42Yeah. People were falling down all over the place.
17:44Jaden Reed had a monster game because the Eagles defensive backs were on the ground for the majority of the contest.
17:50And I think imagine healthy Zay Flowers, try to cover him on that field.
17:54Oh, they'll hold him out. They'll hold him out.
17:57Or they should hold him out. Agreed. Yeah. I just imagine.
18:00It would probably be a blessing in disguise similar to what we got when they canceled that Chiefs Rams game.
18:06Yeah. That was supposed to be in Mexico city.
18:09And then they moved it to LA. And then we got one of the greatest games we've ever seen between two extremely high powered off.
18:16The game went over a hundred points. It was sick.
18:19So please Jerry world open with welcome arms. The Ravens.
18:21Come on, let's do it. Except if it's during the day and the sun comes out, you know, because it is a late afternoon game.
18:29That is the time. Account for the glare and the betting odds.
18:32Yeah. Would I rather, would I rather my, my team play in on the bad field conditions or get blinded by the sun?
18:39And I can't decide. If you want to win a Todd Gurley signed Rams Jersey, then this is your shot.

19:01All right, guys, let's get into our sort of big conclusions, sort of the, what we learned this week.
19:06One thing from each of you, Debra, I'll start with you because I know you're going to talk about the saints and
19:13we've waited long enough to get into this game.
19:15Yeah, dude. So, all right. Few, few parts or pieces.
19:18So my, my, my first takeaway here is that the saints win will, will, I can't talk, will win the NFC South.
19:25And I don't think that that's a hot take.
19:27I know the Panthers are also two and O.
19:30I think that that's more smoke and mirrors. Like the saints easily could be two and O right now.
19:35And then taking the winning versus Baltimore and taking the lions all the way to overtime.
19:40And I still agree with Kellen Moore's decision to go for the win at that point.
19:44You look at their, their upcoming next few games, Las Vegas Raiders win Atlanta Falcons win Minnesota Vikings.
19:50I mean, do they just put up nine points in Kyler?
19:53What are we going to see out of him?
19:55So maybe this is a team that rattles off three more wins and then they get the giants, Steelers, Browns.
20:01Then they had a division game in week 10 versus the Panthers.
20:05Like this team has juice, man. This defense was underrated in the off season.
20:09They're, they're gelling. Brandon Staley's doing a good job coaching that side of the ball.
20:13And the big thing for the saints is the Kellen Moore and people talk about Tyler Shuck.
20:18And I think the bigger hundred foot view of this is really more of a Kellen Moore conversation and his in-game adjustments for Tyler Shuck and the offense.
20:26The second half has looked totally different than the first half where you've had Tyler Shuck looking like he's forgotten how to
20:32play football and first, sometimes second quarter as well in the early going of these two games and big time adjustments in the second half.
20:39So I think the saints are legit. I think they're going to win the NFC South and just into this game worm.
20:46Just keeping this a buck right now. I do not think Tyler Shuck got into the end zone.
20:51I don't believe that at all. Well, that's because you have to functionalize.
20:55Yeah. Well, to the other side of that, the other side is why he did not get into the end zone was
21:01Roquan Smith almost decapitated him with a face mask that also didn't get called.
21:05So it's like the refs are just like, well, you know, we didn't call the face mask.
21:10So I guess we got to give you the touchdown.
21:13Which is not what you're supposed to do according to the rule book.
21:16No, it's not. I think they should have called the face mask and rerun the play.
21:21Just keep being honest here. The only thing I would disagree with what you just said is I don't know that the
21:27face mask is the reason he didn't get in.
21:30I think he like started to bobble the ball a little bit too.
21:34Regardless, it was a ridiculous face mask. When the helmet gets pulled back and his entire body gets pulled back.
21:40Pull up the clip. You can't go forward. It should have been called.
21:43I'm not saying that it was like, like it was the most obvious face mask of all time.
21:48I'm not saying that at all. Like I haven't seen the play.
21:52So I'm actually going to watch it and I will report back to you too.
21:56And I will tell you what. Yes. On that goal, I think it's because it was so interesting.
22:01And again, I could not feel more strongly that he did not get in on that fourth down.
22:07Oh, I agree with you. I think he got in on third down.
22:10So it does kind of even out in the long run.
22:13I'm not 100% sure, but I think he did.
22:16I also think Jawan Johnson might have gotten in the play before when they called him down.
22:21So like, obviously, I think a touchdown was deserved in that goal line sequence.
22:25Having said that, once you get to fourth down, the pass doesn't matter.
22:29And he definitely did not get in. The other thing, Debron, we were talking about this a little bit before the show, that really drove me nuts.
22:36And this is more just about an officiating from a general perspective thing.
22:40The far line judge on the other side of the big scrum called touchdown almost immediately from so far away.
22:46And unequivocally, this guy could not see where the football was or where Shuck was from where he was standing.
22:52The closer line judge got line coming up doesn't make a signal.
22:55And, of course, because the other guy calls, I didn't see the name, but because the other official calls touchdown, they now
23:02have to say, OK, this is a touchdown. And we have to, you know, it has to be overturned, like, you know, indisputable evidence to overturn it.
23:09And why is he making this call so quickly?
23:12That really bothered me just from a process perspective.
23:14So I just had. I'm not laughing at your pain right now.
23:18I agree with everything you said. I'm reacting to Erickson watching this clip in real time.
23:23Having said on that, and then I'll get Erickson's take here, is the Saints just, like, clearly outplayed the Ravens in the second half of that game.
23:30So, like, the Saints deserve to win. It's not like some crazy fluke.
23:34Like, even though that one call at the end really bothered me, the rest of the second half was very much a New Orleans victory.
23:41And, again, in that goal line stand, earlier than the botched call, they should have gotten in anyway.
23:46So the Saints earned the win for sure. I want to get Erickson's reaction to this, and then I have one more
23:53point on the Ravens that I want to make before we get to Erickson's reaction to the week.
23:58Erickson, real time, what do you think? There's no way this is a touchdown.
24:02Exactly! But also, Roquan Smith, like, grabbing that dude.
24:05Like, holy crap. I'm surprised Tyler Shuck's head is still on his body.
24:08I know! Speaking of neck injuries, like, dude. Listen, again, ultimately the Saints deserve to get that touchdown to win the game.
24:15I do not understand how that video is not considered indisputable evidence he didn't get in.
24:19At no point is that football close to crossing the goal line.
24:23Again, they missed other stuff that should have been called.
24:26But literally just in terms of the letter of the law, black and white, like, is this a touchdown or not based on how they called it?
24:33I do not understand how they said he got in.
24:36It's not even close in my opinion. I don't disagree with any of that.
24:40Before we move to Erickson's take of the week here, I have to get the real-time reaction from you on this, Worm.
24:47Because I know you were really, really high on Declan Doyle coming out of week one.
24:51Does this not feel in some ways in week two like we were maybe slightly Scooby-Doo'd here?
24:56Like that was really Todd Munkin and a Declan Doyle mask in week two?
25:00Because nobody can justify any way, shape, form, or fashion Derrick Henry not getting the ball as much as he possibly can in the second half.
25:08I don't understand that at all. It just feels like absolute idiocy and blasphemy.
25:12It's so weird because this was such—this game was Harbaugh karaoke.
25:15Like if you look at all of the loss—those frustrating, you know, fourth quarter collapses, these late-game losses that the Ravens have
25:21had in the last five years, which really are the reason Harbaugh got fired, this was an exact carbon copy.
25:27This was to a T, a replica of all of those games, including Derrick Henry not getting the ball enough.
25:33He had five carries in the second half of the game.
25:36They were up 14-3. Like it is insane that this happened again under the new coaching staff who saw that this was
25:42this sort of stuff that got Harbaugh fired. I mean it was a bad challenge from Jesse Minter to lose a touchdown.
25:48It was Derrick Henry not getting the ball. It's the defense looking great on first and second down and then never getting off the field on third down.
25:57And I want to give credit to this. I really actually kind of struggle.
26:01I talked about this with Erickson last night on the Betting Pros show of like, I don't know how much of this
26:07is the Saints being better than I expected or the Ravens being worse than I expected in this game specifically.
26:13The truth is probably somewhere in the middle and a bit of both.
26:16But yeah, I couldn't believe it. And I don't feel Scooby-Doo masked by Declan Doyle quite yet.
26:21I still have a lot of belief in him.
26:24I mean, again, this was a Ravens team where besides Rashad Bateman, they were throwing to LeJonte Wester, Chris Moore.
26:30Dan Walker. Like it was – I don't know that many offensive coordinators out there besides the true elite, elite, best of
26:36the best are going to do a lot with that receiving room.
26:39But man, that's why you run more with Derrick Henry.
26:42I was fixing to say, but then the village idiot like could step in and call plays and say, well, we just
26:49give the ball to Derrick Henry, right? The Ravens offensive line is also a better run blocking unit than a pass blocking unit.
26:55I will mention too, Ronnie Stanley missed a lot of the second half of this game with a toe issue.
27:01He's obviously been a longtime stalwart at left tackle for them.
27:04So not having him definitely made a difference on the offense as well.
27:08But at the end of the day, just like talent, you have Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry.
27:13Like that should be enough to score more than three points in the second half.
27:17So I – you know, it's a long season.
27:20We need to see more here before I'm going to make a final declaration on Declan Doyle.
27:25But it was – here's the way I'd put it as a Ravens fan.
27:29Honeymoon period for this coaching staff is very officially over.
27:32Now you've got to show us what you've got when you're not basking in the glow of a refreshing change of pace.
27:38Everybody's excited. Scheme lord's coming in. You've got to show it now that you can bounce back from this kind of adversity.
27:44So honeymoon period is done. I don't want to sound like Troy Aikman here, but sometimes you've just got to run the damn ball.
27:51I couldn't agree more given every factor going on in that game.
27:55So, yes, that was – the Ravens group chats were flying yesterday.
27:58Stuff that's not fit for me to say on this show.
28:01Erickson, the reason we've kind of gone so long waiting to get to your big takeaway here is because you have the same takeaway.
28:08So you are in agreement on the New Orleans Saints winning the South.

28:59You were one of the first people who took me on the road.
29:03Which is funny because at the time I was like, I don't know if I like this guy.
29:08With rapper, actor, Daveed Dix. The jump off for me was Hamilton and it was the most popular thing in a very long time.
29:15Yeah. But it was still, for me, it was me and my friends making something dumb.

29:36Dear honeys, this is goodbye. In February of 2024, celebrated illustrator and children's book author Petra Mathers and her husband Michael mailed
29:42letters to dozens of friends and family members to let them know that they had died by suicide.
29:47By the time you get this letter, both Petra and I will be dead.
29:51Next stop, Wonderland. Petra and Michael were by all accounts healthy, happy, and in love.
29:55Why did they do it? And what did it do to the people they left behind?
30:00I would have given a million reasons to not leave this world had I known.
30:04I keep coming back to, I truly hope that Petra was a thousand percent on board with the plan.
30:10Do you think of him as having killed her?
30:12Yes, I do. I hold Michael responsible for my mother's death.
30:16I'm Leon Nafok. And I'm Alice Gregory. Together, we set out to interview everyone who got one of Petra and Michael's letters.
30:22As one married couple, trying to understand another. Listen to Death of an Artist on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
30:29Yeah, and I think that this was always the thesis of the play when it came to the Saints.
30:35I was hesitant to fire on them as division winners because I looked at the schedule, and I looked at two road
30:41games at Detroit at Baltimore, and I didn't like their chances of winning either of those games.
30:46But I wanted to see this offense for Tyler Shuck in year two and see how they perform.
30:51And the fact that they went to overtime and they almost beat the Lions, and then they went to Baltimore and beat the Ravens.
30:58Like, that's enough for me to justify, yeah, this team is taking a major step forward in Tyler Shuck's second season.
31:04Dude, this reminds me so much of last year with the Denver Broncos, right?
31:08Is Tyler Shuck not obviously this year's Bo Nix?
31:11Where you're looking at a quarterback who, ton of experience coming out of college, ridiculed because of how old he was.
31:17But when you have that experience with a veteran seasoned play caller like Kellen Moore with good weapons around you.
31:23Now, I think the defense is probably the biggest difference between New Orleans and Denver.
31:27But what you lose from their defensive talent perspective, you gain with how easy their schedule is.
31:32Like, these were the two tough matchups for them.
31:34The rest of the way, it is like all downhill.
31:37They had the second easiest schedule before the start of the season.
31:41And that was considering their two brutal matchups to open the year.
31:44Saints defense, fantasy football, pick them up. Because they're going to have easy game after easy game after easy game.
31:50And I think that this is a really great team in terms of betting-wise getting ahead of it.
31:55So I'm firing on them to win the NFC South.
31:58You can still get it at plus money. They are the favorites because I think the market is right.
32:04And it's sharp that Carolina Panthers, to Debro's point, a little bit more smoke and mirrors.
32:08I think the Carolina Panthers being second in the NFL in points per game.
32:1235.5, trailing only the Buffalo Bills. Obviously, it seems like Bryce Young is continuing to take steps forward.
32:17He has improved every single year of his career.
32:20He has good weapons between Jalen Coker and T-Mac.
32:23The defense is not good, so they have to throw the ball a little bit more, be more aggressive.
32:28But I think it's more telling about who they have played between the Bears defense, the Falcons defense, versus the Saints, who
32:34have played two teams that we look at as Super Bowl contenders.
32:38Between the Detroit Lions, if they can never get their defense fixed.
32:41And then obviously the Baltimore Ravens, who look like an absolute juggernaut in week one.
32:46So I think the Saints are definitely alive, and I'm lockstep with Debro.
32:49I hate to admit when Debro's right, but guys, he's right here.
32:53So, sorry, Warren, one more quick schedule note for the Saints.
32:56They control their own destiny in week 14 through 18.
32:59They have four of those final five games are against division opponents.
33:02One against Carolina, one against Atlanta, two against Tampa Bay.
33:05So they will walk into that final stretch controlling their own destiny, I think.
33:09Like, whether this isn't just padding, you know, the win column and stuff, or taking the division down.
33:14And they'll also, too, get a pretty talented guy back, potentially.
33:17Hopefully, Jordan Tyson, if they can get it back, that's almost like a mid-season trade.
33:22That is my hope. Debro, what do you think the odds should be for the Saints?
33:26Because I'm not surprised they're the favorites, but if you look at bettingpros.com, the consensus odds, they're the favorites by more than I expected them to be.
33:34So before I tell you— What do they have right now?
33:37Well, what do you think they should be, and then I'll tell you what they are.
33:42Okay, I think they should be plus 150. You're close.
33:45They're plus 130. Okay, I was thinking plus 150 because I think, like, the only reason they're not more or, like, a
33:51minus number is the Carolina Panthers starting off 2-0.
33:54Outside of that, I think you'd see that that line would be probably minus at this point.
33:59Well, interestingly, Tampa is—and this is looking at consensus.
34:01If you look at specific books on bettingpros.com, obviously some of these are different, and in fact, with Tampa and Carolina, some of these are flipped.
34:09But on consensus overall, it's plus 250 for the Bucs, plus 300 for the Panthers.
34:13I would take the Panthers as the second. This is not overreaction.
34:16Like, the Buccaneers have looked horrible through two weeks.
34:19By the way, not that it matters, but Falcons are plus 800 just to complete the division.
34:24Not that anyone should be— They should be longer odds.
34:27I know. Those are way shorter than I would have guessed.
34:30Dude, the fact that the Falcons are playing on three straight prime— Like, dude, they got a—Michael Panics, dude, are we going to get a different quarterback?
34:38It's Packers. The Ravens are in Week 5. I forget who they play in Week 4 in primetime.
34:43I don't know if you looked it up already, but I know it is three straight.
34:48It's not going to be fun. Yeah. No, yeah, I think the Saints look really good.
34:52Like, genuinely, again, that was a big takeaway for me from watching that game from the Ravens' perspective.
34:57Saints are good. Like, Shuck was really mobile. There was a lot made of, like, Anthony Weaver was calling him, like, a poor man's Josh Allen.
35:05I guess the Saints took offense to that. And it was definitely meant as a compliment.
35:09He's like, no, this guy plays like Josh Allen.
35:12Sorry, he's not, like, the MVP of the league, but he's very good.
35:16It was funny that they kind of took it as an insult.
35:19But, yeah, like, I thought Shuck looked really good.
35:22He evaded the pressure. Like, he was under a lot of pressure.
35:25He just evaded it very calmly throughout that game.
35:28And, you know, Chris Olave's a stud. And it's awesome to have him healthy and producing.
35:32And the defense is playing well. And I like Callum Moore.
35:36So, yeah, I agree with you guys. I don't know what these odds are going to look like in a month.
35:42But I think the Saints definitely should be the favorites here, given everything we've seen.
35:46I mean, you lose to the Browns like Tampa did.
35:49Like, you're just eliminated from contention, in my opinion.
35:51Tampa Bay we talked about is, like, the big boomer bust team.
35:55And it's so clearly trending in the bust. Big time bust.
35:58Where they're going with Bowles. Is Bowles, I mean, is Bowles Deadman walking?
36:02I think Bowles and Quinn, for me, are 1A and 1B in terms of, coach, I expect to see fired first.
36:08I think Quinn will be given a longer leash only because of Jayden Daniels' injury.
36:12And then, you know, the commanders can kind of explain this away.
36:16But for Bowles, I mean, like, dude, like, for him to keep his job, like, just say the rest of it, like,
36:22past this season, not only do they have to have a good season, they need to go in the playoffs and win at least one game.
36:29At current way that they're performing, they're not even going to make the freaking playoffs.
36:34Like, he won't even last. I mean, their next few games.
36:37I mean, okay, boys, let's play this game. Buccaneers, when do they win a game?
36:41Let's just walk the schedule. Minnesota Vikings, win or loss?
36:44Loss. I mean, they're supposed to win, but they probably won't.
36:47They won't. The way this offense looks, going up against Flores, I don't think so.
36:52And they also paid Baker. See, that's the issue.
36:54They paid Baker. They should have had stuff Baker.
36:57They should have paid Baker, though. I think those are different things.
37:00I think those are different things. No, they would have got better.
37:04Baker would not lose to the Browns if he didn't have his contract.
37:07So, Green Bay Packers, win or loss? I think it's, I'm taking the Packers.
37:11I'm not taking them to cover any of these spreads.
37:14And if they're favorites in any of these games, they're going to lose.
37:18Yeah, no, but win or loss? I feel like that might be a, like, they shouldn't win, but the Bucs do win that game.
37:25I'm going to call my shot and say they actually do beat the Packers, even though I think the Packers are better.
37:31Like, this experiment is tough with the schedule because Tampa Bay has just been so underwhelming, even when it looks like on paper that they should win.
37:39Again, they're favorites this week. But, like, do you feel confident they're going to win?
37:43No. I don't think, no. Because what have they shown over the last 11 weeks is none of that.
37:49All they do is fail to meet expectations. Zach Robinson.
37:52Like, Chris Godwin is not looking like, he's looking more like his age in that a guy that's had multiple season-ending injuries.
37:58Ameka is struggling as the number one. Look, I love Ted Hurst, but man, like, should he be the focal point of
38:04your passing offense in week two and he should leave the team in targets?
38:08Like, probably not. So, it's just... It sucks. But, yes.
38:11So, let's just say, if they keep rattling off losses after that, they get the Dallas Cowboys, the Steelers, the Panthers.
38:17Maybe we're looking at the Falcons in week eight.
38:20If they lose against the Falcons, then that might be the...
38:23I mean, I don't think... If they keep losing like this, Todd Bowles is not keeping his job.
38:28Like, they could get embarrassed versus the Cowboys. They could beat the Steelers, though.
38:32That offense is terrible. They could beat, you know, the Packers at the defensive bay.
38:37You know, there's... They're not gonna... I'm not gonna feel good about them in those games, but there are games that could be won in that stretch.
38:44They lost to Deshaun Watson. Deshaun Watson had his best game as a Cleveland Brown against his defense.
38:50Thank you, Eric, for framing it this way. Like, let's...
38:52I know, but like... You are glass half-bullying this worm.
38:55A lot. Tampa Bay is off the betting card until further notice.
38:59I'm just saying, stuff changes all the time. You know, like, the Ravens blew out the Colts and then lost to the
39:05Saints, but then the Colts almost beat the Chiefs and Arrowhead, who had just blown out the Broncos, who then the next week beat the Jags.
39:13You know, stuff looks different week to week, so it's...
39:16This is carrying over from last year. Like, we were...
39:18Like, that's the big issue. I don't... I don't...
39:21Listen, I think the Bucs are not very good, and Bowles is live to get fired.
39:26I'm just saying, I don't think they're gonna go, like, 2-15.
39:29Like, there will be some wins sprinkled in just based on...
39:32Yeah, no. There's enough talent. If they fire Bowles, they'll get the dead cats bounce, like...
39:37The counterpoint to the argument, though, Worm, is still, they just lost to Deshaun Watson.
39:41That card beats everything else. In the one game, the Buccaneers could not lose.
39:45They lost. Hey, man. At home against the Browns.
39:47Weird delay. It cost me my survivable pick. Bro, but they shouldn't have been...
39:52Weird delay or not, to Erickson's point, they should not have been in a situation where they have to win it on the last drive.
39:59I'm not defending losing to Deshaun Watson. You are a little bit.
40:02No, I'm saying that they might look different in a week or so.
40:06Dude, just go get your Bucs jersey right now and put it on.
40:10I don't... You know it's in your closet. He's quitting his Fair Ravens fandom after he got beat.
40:15He's a Bucs fan now. I actually don't think there's a team I have less of an opinion on emotionally as a fan than the Bucs.
40:22I don't like or dislike them at all. They're just so off to the side for me.
40:27But let me get to what I learned this week, because I actually just mentioned this team.
40:32The Steelers' offense is totally non-functional. Erickson, you were talking last night about how, like, this Patriots defense, besides Christian Gonzalez, is
40:38not that anything special to write home about. And the Steelers couldn't do anything.
40:42I mean, the Mike McCarthy-Aaron Rodgers partnership didn't score a touchdown in this game.
40:46The Steelers have looked... They look... It took them getting this crazy defensive play and score to cover against the awful Falcons
40:53team that looked like the worst team in years, as long as Cooper Rush is their quarterback.
40:58And the Steelers did not blow them out of the water or look all that good against them.
41:03Now their offense scores three points against the Patriots.
41:05Like, this just... Rodgers is taking big hits. DK Metcalf is not living up to his contract and hype.
41:11Michael Pittman didn't play in this game. Rico Dowdle gets hurt.
41:14So it takes away one of this two-headed running back room.
41:17I just, like, could not be less impressed with the Steelers' offense right now to the point where it is, like...
41:23Like, there was that tweet that went around about the commander's offensive line this summer about how it was inoperable, and everybody was really happy on that word.
41:31This Steelers' offense, Erickson, is inoperable. When the Patriots scored 14 points, I knew the game was over.
41:37I had no sweat or concern about the Steelers getting back.
41:40And the Patriots' offense did not look that great either.
41:43They still had a lot of issues in this game too.
41:46But once they got to 14 points, it was like, well, Texas Scott Bodden was like, is it over?
41:51Because I think it is because they could not move the ball.
41:55If it's as easy as you just stick your best cornerback in, if you look at the upcoming matchup for the Steelers,
42:01they face a lot of really strong number one corners.
42:04And if it's as easy as like, yep, we take DK Metcalf out of the game with our number one corner, chick, chick, here we go, cha-ching.
42:12And then you have to make guys like Jeremy Bernard and the tight ends try to beat you.
42:17Really, the most explosive playmaker that the Steelers had, the only player that I would say besides Bernard having a couple of
42:23nice catches, he didn't make a nice grab against Christian Gonzalez and man-to-man coverage was Jalen Warren.
42:28And we've already seen this before where they don't unleash him in a full-time role.
42:32Because if it's not Jalen Warren or Rico Dowdle that's splitting time, it's they're going to put Travis Homer in who's going
42:39to take away snaps from Jalen Warren, even though he is by far their most explosive playmaker when they get the ball
42:45in his hands as both a rusher and receiver.
42:48He was the reason they got in the red zone in the first place, like ripping off big plays out of the backfield.
42:54So that's the really only way you can see it.
42:57Rodgers, again, as a downfield passer, they're being more aggressive, trying to throw the ball downfield, but it's not hitting.
43:03And I don't think that's by accident because Rodgers is way past his prime.
43:07So they can talk about trying to throw the ball and be aggressive, high pass rate over expectation through two weeks, but it's not scaring anybody.
43:14It's not frightening opposing defenses. And they're just an easy team to really defend against.
43:19And I don't think, again, Patriots defense, they lost their best pass.
43:22The Patriots don't have a good pass rush. They lost Draymond Jones during this game.
43:27And at no point I thought, man, well, the Steelers office is really starting to cook here.
43:31No. D bro. The Steelers have longer odds to win their division right now than the Falcons do to win theirs.
43:37My consensus. No one has any faith. Like there are, there are, again, there are books where that's flipped.
43:43It's very close, but consensus, all of these put together, it's Falcons plus 800.
43:47By the way, the Raiders are also plus 800 and the Steelers are plus 850.
43:51Who knew in the year 2026 that reuniting Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers would go poorly and then trading for a wide
43:58receiver that considering his injury history is a little bit older than his actual government age might not be great.
44:03Like this. Yeah, this team's got a lot of holes and problems, man.
44:07Like it did just. Absolute travesty. When you build your roster continually with old and expensive veteran players and you just keep
44:13rolling in it, like are the Steelers the new Saints?
44:16I'm asking the question where you hold on and you just keep trying to pile on veterans and expensive contracts.
44:22And I'm not saying they're doing the same cooking, the cooking of the books that the Saints did for multiple years, but same ethos.
44:29Like we're just going to try to keep competing, even though the world and reality tells us, no, we're going to try to keep competing.
44:36We can do it. We can wheel ourselves to victory.
44:39Little engine that just can't. No. You know, we saw last year between a head coach reunited with his veteran quarterback.
44:45We saw the Pete Carroll, Geno Smith Raiders and they had the number one overall pick.
44:50So after one week, I, cause I, on the betting pro show, me and Seth gave out our picks for like, who
44:56could be the surprise, like, oh, and 17 team or team that finishes with the worst record.
45:01He picked the Falcons. I picked the Steelers. Yeah.
45:04Steelers team that look, they've been eight and nine, nine and eight every single year with Mike Tomlin is Mike McCarthy.
45:10The coach that has them bottom out and not actually get above the hump versus.
45:14And if you're a Steelers fan, I got to talk to Seth and Scott Bobbin about this.
45:19Like, yeah, dude, like if they suck and then they can get a high draft pick, they actually draft a quarterback and
45:25like move on and reset the team. Because to your point, the defense is old.
45:29So yes, the defense can be effective at the start of the season, but as the season progresses, that defense is going
45:36to get worse and worse and worse. And at this point, Joey Porter Jr.
45:40I think he's probably going to get, oh, he's getting traded.
45:43He's getting traded. Yeah. There are so many teams that are contenders that need secondary help.
45:48Paging the Detroit lions. Come on. First team. I thought about the minute that Joey Porter Jr.
45:52Is like, dude, my back feels great. Yeah. So yeah.
45:55I need to tell everybody about this new prediction market called Polymarket.
45:59It's a stock exchange for sports, buying in and selling out on your terms.
46:03When your team goes down to 20%, you can buy in and sell it off at 40%.
46:08When they come back to double your money, they are so confident you'll never go back to the other guys.
46:13They're giving you a free $50 on your first trade when you deposit just $10.
46:18So download the Polymarket app today and use FPPOD when you sign up.
46:21That's FPPOD to get $50 free after you trade just $10.
46:25All right, guys, let's go to reality check. You know, this is sort of debating amongst each other.
46:30These conclusions, are they actual conclusions, legitimate takeaways, or are they an overreaction to the week?
46:34Erickson, we'll start with you. Seahawks still have, if not the best defense, but one of the best defenses in the NFL still.
46:41And it's the reason why they're the reigning Super Bowl champions.
46:44It's why they're so good at winning on the road.
46:47And it's why, whether Sam Darnold is their quarterback or it's Drew Locke is their quarterback with their elite defense, with Jackson
46:53to the Jigba as the engine to their passing attack.
46:56They lost their starting running back. They don't know when Zach Charbonnet is going to come back.
47:01It doesn't matter. Like, this team finds a way to win wherever you play football because Mike McDonald is such a good coach, especially on the defensive side.
47:09So they're going to continue to keep stacking up wins, and they're going to continue to show people why they are the reigning Super Bowl champions.
47:17Yeah, Debro, this is like a very easy, just yes, legitimate conclusion.
47:20I felt kind of this way even coming into this week, and it's just kind of further affirmation of it.
47:26Like, Erickson and I talked about this last night on taping the Betting Pros show, but I keep bringing this up.
47:32Mike McDonald in year three running at the same defense we haven't seen before.
47:36He's been amazing in years one and two at multiple stops.
47:39Now we get to see a group of players that is really familiar and are sort of veterans in this team.
47:45And the team that I would have made the greatest case to match this defense this season has been with the Texans,
47:52who have not played up to that level. So the fact that the Texans, who I expected to be the best defense, haven't been there.
47:59The Seahawks have basically just been running back this elite defense that we've seen the last couple of years.
48:04I do think they're the best defense in the NFL this season, barring injuries down the line.
48:09I think they're kind of an easy choice, honestly.
48:12Yeah, I don't disagree. And right now, looking at their schedule, they got the Commanders next this upcoming week.
48:17They'll win that game. They got the Chargers that win that game.
48:21Hopefully, maybe they get Sam Darnold back in time for a stretch against the 49ers, Broncos and Chiefs, which it sounds like his timetable.
48:28He should be back for those games, like for week five.
48:31But just to put some other context on how good Seattle's defense is, dude, every single metric you pull up, fourth best
48:37in EPA per play, second best in EPA per drive, eighth best in EPA per drop back, second best in EPA per rushing play allowed.
48:44Like they're just fantastic at every single part of the defense.
48:47So yeah, I don't disagree. And especially like when you take up like the other team that like was in the running
48:54in the conversation or same breath as them and the Texans, like we talk about year over year volatility, especially on the
49:00defensive side of the ball can be massive. We're seeing this play out in real time for the Houston Texans, like as
49:06a team that looked like they were up there in the Seattle Seahawks, like realm of being one of the best defenses,
49:13like elite, able to take over a game. We have not seen any shred of that through two weeks of football.
49:19So yeah, big concerns in Houston, but also, yeah, got to give the Seahawks flowers and Drew Locke who played really well.
49:25And I know it was the Cardinals, but he played well yesterday.
49:29Man, besides McVay, I can't think of another coach I'd rather have, you know, starting off a team right now than Mike McDonald.
49:35He's just so, so, so elite. Straight up. I'll put you on the spot here, worm.
49:40If you got your choice right now of Jesse Minter or McDonald, who you taking?
49:44If the Ravens could take one of them. McDonald.
49:47I just, I have to hear it. All the Ravens fans at home have to hear it.
49:52They didn't fire Harbaugh earlier and they could have kept McDonald.
49:55I don't disagree. When McDonald left, I remember saying to friends, because I was late to the, it's time to move on from Harbaugh train.
50:02But I do remember saying like, if there is ever a guy I want to move on from Harbaugh from to hire,
50:08it's to keep Mike McDonald in town. Like I felt this way before he was a head coach.
50:13I obviously, he's won the Super Bowl. He's been amazing.
50:16Like, yeah, it's not even close. I did see somebody, they said, because the Chargers defenses look so bad.
50:22They were like, we might be seeing a repeat here of a Harbaugh losing their young hotshot defensive coordinator.
50:27And then that team kind of realizing, oh, maybe that's who they should have kept in the building instead, which leads us
50:34nicely, D bro, into your reality check. Buckle up, everybody.
50:37The Chargers, were they the most overrated team all summer during the off season?
50:41Because through two games, all of the concerns that I have about this team and the cold water that I threw on
50:47this team in the off season has absolutely been real.
50:50Jesse Minter covered up a ton of sins on the defensive side of the ball.
50:54So they're at, they're leaky on defense. Harbaugh as a CEO head coach is not a difference maker so far.
51:00And Mike McDaniel was one of the most overhyped and fraudulent play callers this off season.
51:04I mean, everything I threw out the tweet in the off season where it was like the Miami Dolphins, if you look
51:11at really just the Tyreek Hill of it all with him on the field for the Miami Dolphins during McDaniel's tenure down
51:17there, top 10 offense, regardless of whatever you look back, EPA per play, EPA per drop back, take Tyreek Hill out of the mix, 23rd or worse.
51:25And basically every offensive success rate thing that you can look up.
51:28Lad McConkie, fine. You want to run your passing attack through him.
51:32I get it. Fine. Cool. Do that. When he's not in the game or he's limited, the offense cannot be broken.
51:38And Justin Herbert, how many years in a row are we going to make excuses?
51:42Oh, it's the offensive line. Oh, it's the injuries.
51:45Oh, it's the play calling. Oh, it's all of this stuff.
51:48When are we just going to get to, okay, maybe Justin Herbert's just dramatically overrated.
51:52Like, and I'll just throw it out there. Jalen Hurts is a better quarterback than Justin Herbert.
51:57Just toss us on top of all this, but I had, and just to put a bow on this too.
52:03Amari and Hampton being a questionable fit for the run game scheme that McDaniel wants to run.
52:08All parts and pieces. It's not good guys. And again, we want to talk about it.
52:12Like, I'm not saying, I do not think that they will fire Harbaugh, but walking the Chargers schedule, when does this team get a win?
52:20They get the Bills, the Seahawks, the Broncos, the Chiefs.
52:22Mahomes looked awesome last night, by the way. The Rams, the Texans, the Ravens.
52:26I'm not saying they go winless this entire stretch, but week 11 versus the Jets.
52:31Are they the most overrated team this, like this off season that we, that most people hype to hell and back.
52:37And it's looking rough right now, guys. I'm wondering who else Erickson is in contention for this title of most overrated team.
52:43Because obviously the Chargers, I think, apply, given that this is a team that's won 11 games two straight years.
52:49Jim Harbaugh has a very strong reputation. There are people out there saying that this is their year, obviously.
52:54And then the offense, specifically with us being in the fantasy space, was incredibly hyped.
52:59Who else? Who else is here? Because a lot of the teams that are off to bad starts are teams we expected to not be very good.
53:06Or you look at a team like Houston that's off to an 0-2 start.
53:10I don't want to call them overhyped yet because they've played a very good Bills team and a very good Bengals team.
53:17So who else is even in this conversation? If the Rams lose versus the Giants, are they the only team?
53:23The Rams, we haven't seen them play yet tonight, obviously.
53:25But no, I don't think it's really up for debate who the most overrated team.
53:30Because you have to take the context of who they played to start the year.
53:34Like this was the easy part of their schedule.
53:37Like this is why I wanted to bet Chargers futures because I thought they were going to start out 2-0.
53:42And then I was going to reassess how I felt about them entering this stretch where it's absolutely brutal.
53:48It's a juggernaut. And I knew about this when it came to the Chargers.
53:52And I was like, right, when we enter week three, maybe we look to cash out.
53:57Now I'm just like hoping I can just get pennies on the dollar for all my Chargers futures and invest it in the Saints.
54:03Like that's like what I'm basically going to try to do because yeah, you don't have a lot of confidence.
54:09And I think that the point about Mike McDaniel without Tyree Kill, I think is very astute that Debra brought up.
54:15And I think if you just even recall those games and when he didn't have Tua and he was playing with a
54:22backup quarterback, when Mike McDaniel has been put in positions where he doesn't have everything to work with, these offenses have struggled.
54:28And as great as it looked in week one on that first drive when Lamb and Conkuhi was absolutely cooking, when he
54:34misses time, oh no, like things are starting to crumble here.
54:37You also have the injury to Tyler Biotish in the offseason center.
54:41I know sometimes you overlook it because, well, the tackles are back.
54:44Joe Alt did not play well in this last game against Max Crosby.
54:48Like he was getting penalized. He was holding Max Crosby, giving up a safety.
54:52Like it was all over the place, a total mess.
54:55So it's always great to, again, on paper, put these tackles back in.
54:59But when guys come off season end injuries, sometimes they aren't as good.
55:02You know, we impact it when it comes to quarterbacks and skill position players.
55:06But maybe that's something that, again, speaking personally, obviously the market was high on the Chargers.
55:11I was high on the Chargers. Again, talking about I got future tickets on the Chargers, which I don't feel good about
55:17whatsoever because the schedule is really tough. So maybe if Lad can get back to 100%, you can start to see this offense bounce back a little bit.
55:25But the creative design from this team and honestly, the execution has been pretty poor too.
55:30So like they're making fumble, like Hampton's fumbled in back-to-back games.
55:33The entire team just looks out of sync. It looks like they put a lot of pieces together with no plan really, except for Lad McConkie.
55:41And he's the guy that's missed the most time of the top receivers.
55:44Like where's Quinn Johnson? Where's Trey Harris? Like where are the tight ends?
55:48Like what is happening here with guys trying to step up?
55:51Nobody has stepped up and that includes Justin Herbert.
55:54So I agree with Debra. I think that this is spot on.
55:57Just to put like the specifics of this. So 2022 to 2025 with Tyreek Hill in the field, EPA per play for
56:04the Dolphins, seventh best, EPA per drive, sixth best, success rate, tenth best.
56:08Without Tyreek Hill in those same three categories, 27th, 27th, 23rd.
56:11Quickly, this is just because it's dropped in the timeline from Schefter.
56:14Caleb Williams expected to miss some time per Ben Johnson, but looking like a week-to-week thing.
56:19So a positive report earlier from Palisaro, still generally positive from Ben Johnson there, but it makes it feel like he will miss.
56:25I do want to get deep. So Debra, I know because you like to badge in.
56:30So what do you expect? So just quickly, because you just mentioned Caleb Williams, so badge is going to start probably for
56:36at least this week, maybe in a couple more weeks.
56:39You like badge in a lot. Does this Bears offense just, is this like a buying opportunity for all Bears?
56:45Because it's like, oh no, no, Caleb. It's like this, we're screwed.
56:48Or you're like, nah, man, I think this office can still cook.
56:52Like the defense still sucks. Like what's your kind of take with Badger and his QB1?
56:56I think Tyson Badger can keep the offense on schedule.
56:59Like I think that he's one of the best backup quarterbacks in the NFL.
57:03And I know that's not like saying a ton, but I think that he's going to run the offense.
57:09And I think that he can keep them on schedule and be accurate and stuff.
57:13And I'm not taking anything away of him getting tossed into last week's game and hurry up against zone defense and prevent and what have you.
57:21I'm not taking anything away from him. Yeah, exactly.
57:23It's hard enough to get thrown into the game, let alone against the madman, the mad scientist that is Brian Flores.
57:29Absolutely. So I think Bayesian can keep this offense on schedule and good Lord.
57:33Can Ben Johnson quit Ben Johnson and being too cute?
57:36Can he just like run the offense through your best freaking players?
57:40It's not that complicated. It really isn't. Run the offense through Colston Loveland, Roma Dunze, and Luther Burton.
57:45Can we stop with all this Khalif Raymond mess?
57:47Can we stop? Like, I just, I don't understand.
57:50It just feels like Ben Johnson is pulling his best.
57:53Like, I'm going to show everybody how freaking smart I am.
57:56And it's like, well, you're kind of actually showing everybody how not great you can be too.
58:01My reality check. You guys said a couple of easy ones where we're all kind of in group.
58:06Yeah, yeah, you're right about this. I wonder what you're going to think about this one.
58:11Uh, Bryce Young is a long-term franchise quarterback. Maybe is kind of how I put it.
58:15Cause I don't know if it's true or not.
58:18Again, this is a reality check. You tell me if this is a conclusion or an overreaction.
58:23He's been very good statistically here to start the 2026 season.
58:26Uh, he had, you know, 361 yards and three touchdowns in week one.
58:30Also ran for a touchdown to 87 and three touchdowns in week two.
58:33He is in fantasy QB three in week one, QB six through most of the games here in week two.
58:39Now this went up against a very bad bears defense and a Falcons defense that has, uh, been treaded by Bryce Young historically.
58:46Zero pass rush as well. Yeah. Zero pass rush.
58:48So that's in the back of my mind here, but he has looked good just watching the games.
58:54I have been impressed by Bryce Young, even in, you know, easier circumstances for a quarterback to navigate.
58:59So I'll start with you. Erickson is Bryce Young, a long-term franchise quarterback.
59:02I'm still going to say no, because I think that best case scenario is he is the 14th, 15th, 16th best quarterback in the NFL.
59:10And that's the exact guy you don't want to pay to be middle of the pack, to never really get over the
59:16hump him having good games or having high end games is not anything new.
59:20Like he's done this before in the past. He's had good matchups in the past when he's had his weapons healthy.
59:26And to his credit, I think that he has improved every single year of his career.
59:31You just look at his just season long statistics from his rookie year to his second year to his third year.
59:37Everything goes up and up, up completion percentage, touchdowns, passing yards, everything improves for him.
59:41And it's no, I don't think it's crazy to think that he's having his best year so far when he has both
59:47his top two receivers healthy and ready to go.
59:50Like TMAC and Jalen Coker are one of the most underrated dynamic duos at wide receiver in the NFL right now.
59:56They're combining for nearly 50% of the team's targets.
59:59There's really no one else on this offense that's commanding a high target here, except for Darren Waller in the red zone.
60:05So I do think though, that it does have to do with the opponents.
60:09I know that Rich Rebar actually brought up a stat entry in week one, where when you look at Bryce Young in
60:15the games where he's played with a high total, he just has monster performances in these really high total games.
60:21So I think this week playing on the road at Cleveland, a defense that plays much better at home than on the road.
60:28I think that this is probably a better litmus test of, okay, has Bryce Young really taken that step forward?
60:33Now you're playing on the road, hostile environment versus playing at home.
60:37Cause they've been at home the first two, or was last week in Atlanta?
60:41It was in Atlanta. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Yeah. So in Atlanta, still an opponent that you're not necessarily super afraid of.
60:47I think Cleveland's defense might be able to throw a little bit more than they've embraced the last two weeks.
60:53Well, listen, if, if their Cleveland defense doesn't travel, like, you know, play better at home this year, you know, new coaching staff and everything.
61:00His next two weeks are Cleveland and then home against Detroit.
61:03Very banged up defense. So that's not like a matchup room.
61:06Yeah. Uh, D real quickly, where are you at on Bryce Young?
61:10I think it's more smoke and mirrors than a fact, uh, about him being a franchise quarterback.
61:15Like I think the window dressing of the box scores and the matchups is really painting a much more positive picture because
61:21of when you pull open the hood and shout out to the people over at, uh, fantasy points data for this, like
61:27bro, his other metrics on a per drop back basis are God awful.
61:31Like right now amongst 30 or 28 qualifying quarterbacks right now.
61:34One, he has seen immaculate pockets. He has faced the eighth lowest pressure rate.
61:38But if you look at his accuracy metrics amongst those 28 quarterbacks, Bryce Young has the fourth highest off target throw rate
61:45and the second lowest highly accurate throw rate and the second lowest catchable target rate.
61:49The only quarterback, unfortunately, and shout out to Fitzy.
61:51Unfortunately, I'm sure his ears are burning right now.
61:54When I've mentioned this, the only more inaccurate quarterback right now in the NFL right now is Jordan love.
62:00So I think we're more likely going to see, especially like dude, Bryce Young's also been chucking a deep and the volatility
62:06of that is you're going to see regression with that too, just over the long haul, because right now, like he's top 10 in deep ball rate too.
62:14So if he's this inaccurate, he's living off of downfield throws.
62:17It was eventually like if none of that counteracts itself, he turns back into a pumpkin with tougher matchups and he's actually going to face pressure.
62:25So yeah, I think it's more fiction. Let's get into our final segment of the show here.
62:29We've run long just with all the injury updates we had to get through at the top of the show.
62:35So we'll keep this a little shorter. We want to sort of do a two week check in on Super Bowl odds
62:42and just have a general conversation looking at what those consensus odds are on bettingpros.com.
62:46Who's too high, too low? Who belongs in here that's not in there?
62:50So I'll read through the odds here. Again, these are the consensus odds.
62:53You can find different numbers at different books. Of course, the Rams plus 650.
62:57The Bills plus 750. Then Seattle and San Francisco are plus 1100.
63:01Actually, I'm sorry. I skipped Baltimore. It's still plus 1000.
63:04So they're at third actually. And then it's two teams at plus 1100 each.
63:08The two NFC West teams. Then at plus 1200, we have the Chiefs plus 1500, the Eagles plus 1700, the Bengals.
63:14And then there are three teams at plus 2000.
63:16That's the Patriots, the Broncos and the Lions. Again, these are the consensus odds on bettingpros.com.
63:21So that's in order. That's actually the top 11 because of the tie there at the plus 2000.
63:26Debro, is there anybody that you feel like is in this conversation that doesn't belong?
63:30Anybody that's not in this conversation that does belong?
63:33What changes would you make here? I think considering what we've seen out of the Patriots so far, their odds are probably okay.
63:40But I'm more lean on that. They're not really in this conversation for me.
63:44I mean, we could talk about the Drake May regression, all of that kind of stuff.
63:48I think AJ Brown missing a ton of time is the biggest factor for me, as well as the defensive side of the ball stuff.
63:55I do not think the Rams after one game, and I know it's just one game, they should still be the freaking favorite.
64:02I think Buffalo should be the definitive favorite. Or, dude, after last night, Patrick Mahomes looked really good, man.
64:08Spags is firing on all cylinders. Kenneth Walker looks like he has unlocked and revolutionized that offense.
64:12Like, what he brings to the table, it looks like this was the missing piece maybe for Andy Reed having that type
64:19of explosiveness in the backfield and the pass game utility that Walker has provided them.
64:23I could see a world where, you know, after week three, the Kansas City Chiefs or the Buffalo Bills are tied for the best Super Bowl odds.
64:31I also think that the Denver Broncos are at a real, like, interesting tipping point.
64:35Like, if their defense does not improve, they played much better in week two.
64:39But with the Bo Nix of it all, he still looked pretty rough for, like, stretches of that game.
64:45But that, again, overarching takeaways of, you know, a lot of those teams where there's still a lot of football left to
64:51be played and a lot of things to kind of shake out.
64:55If we were to kick out the Patriots from this top 10, some of the teams that are just outside in terms
65:01of consensus odds, the Jags are at plus 2,200.
65:03The Texans are at plus 2,200. The Cowboys are at plus 2,500.
65:07Those are the next three up. And do you like those teams more than the Patriots, any of them in particular?
65:13The Texans are not a real Super Bowl contender with the way their defense is playing.
65:18I mean, you want to talk about just the offense can sink them and C.J.
65:22Stroud can sink them. They're not a real Super Bowl contender.
65:25I fully believe that. And maybe that's proven wrong.
65:28I think the Jags should be higher in odds, no doubt.
65:31Like, Trevor Lawrence looked really good in the first half of Week 2.
65:35Now he fell apart in the back half of that game against the Broncos.
65:39But I think also going back to how he looked at the back half of last season as well as Week 1,
65:45I think the Jags should be given more respect as a Super Bowl contender than they're getting right now.
65:50Erickson, what are some of your takeaways here? I tend to agree with Debrow in terms of, like, some of the teams at the top.
65:58Maybe I'm less like the Rams. I mean, it was one game.
66:01They have yet to play a game on U.S.
66:04soil this season as of the time of we're taping this.
66:07Like, I don't want to overreact. But, you know, the injury to Myles Garrett is not nothing.
66:12And Stafford did look, you know, old again after a long flight in that first game.
66:16And so plus 650 doesn't feel like a great price on them.
66:20Chiefs at plus 1,200, I think six weeks from now we might look back and say, can you believe we were able
66:26to get the Chiefs at that price? If Mahomes continues to look more healthy and Walker continues to be awesome, the defense continues to be good.
66:34Seattle, like, defending champs, best defense in football at plus 1,100.
66:37I think the Niners, if they stay healthy, have looked really fantastic this year.
66:41Bengals have looked great, plus 1,700. So it's those teams in that, like, 3-7 range that I find myself most interested in.
66:47What are your takeaways from this ranking? Yeah, I agree with a lot of the points that you guys made on a couple different fronts.
66:54I think that the Chiefs right now are definitely worth a Super Bowl sprinkle, especially at 12-1.
66:59These odds are never this long for a Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid squad.
67:03And I was definitely wrong about them. I thought that this was going to be more of a reset, rebuild type of year.
67:09But the way that Mahomes is looking, I've seen enough.
67:12We're like, I don't need to be convinced that this guy is kind of already back.
67:17And if they can just improve the passing game from a more consistent standpoint, because the run game looks like it's going
67:23to be top five all season with Ken Walker running the show and Emmitt Johnson.
67:28Even if Walker misses a couple games with an injury, and we know he's gotten banged up in the past.
67:33I mean, like, dude, Emmitt Johnson was putting guys in the shadow realm last night.
67:38Dude, he looked awesome. Like, and you just think, dude, all these teams, the running backs, and none of them draft Emmitt Johnson.
67:44What are you doing? Fifth round. It makes literally no sense.
67:47You have these teams like the Tennessee Titans and the Minnesota Vikings drafting guys like Claiborne and Nick Singleton, when you have
67:54Emmitt Johnson just, like, staring you in the face.
67:56That could be, like, you're starting bell cow back, when you only have free agent running backs for next year on your roster.
68:03And none of them decide to take a shot at Emmitt Johnson.
68:06But, you know, that's why those teams stay bad, and that's why the Chiefs are always at the top.
68:12So, yes, I think the Chiefs right now are definitely alive, especially with the way the Chargers are trending in the wrong direction.
68:19I agree with Debro. Bo Nix has looked shaky through two games.
68:22It was better in week two, and it is a new play caller.
68:26So, maybe with some time. Jay Lawal obviously had a massive game.
68:29But I agree, too, with the Jaguars being too short here, especially because their odds right now are longer than the Patriots,
68:36but they play the Patriots this week. And they're pretty sure they're going to beat the Patriots, especially if they're playing at home.
68:42I think they should have beat the Broncos. They were winning for the majority of that game.
68:47Now it kind of fell off in the second half, like Debro was talking about, but I did not look at that
68:53game and think, oh, man, the Jaguars are way overmatched here.
68:57I felt like it was – Jaguars kind of blew this game.
69:00I thought that they should have gone in and beat Denver, and Denver should be 0-2 and the Jaguars should be 2-0,
69:06going home to face the Patriots, entering potentially a 3-0 type of start.
69:10So, again, you're going to lose games that you should have won, and vice versa.
69:14It all kind of comes out in the wash.
69:17But those are some teams for me. And the last team I'll mention, Cincinnati Bengals.
69:21I was going to mention them. Oh, it's a good call.
69:24I was going to bring them up. The fact that they're 2-0 and their offense has not really been the reason why they've won games.
69:32They're the one team that invested in defensive personnel and is actually seeing the benefits of those defensive upgrades where all these
69:38other teams are kind of waiting, hey, we're trying to get this thing to gel here.
69:43That has not been the case. The Bengals have gotten the benefits immediately from all the additions they've made from drafting players
69:49high in the draft, from having a trade like a Dexter Lawrence.
69:52I think that this is making a big difference for them.
69:56And then when you get the offense cooking as they get more reps with Joe Burrow, T.
70:00Higgins, and Jamar Chase, you get those guys going.
70:03Dude, this team can beat anybody if Joe Burrow is fine in all cylinders.
70:07And then you have an average defense that can actually generate pressure, create turnovers.
70:11Yeah, the Bengals are another team that when you go into January, it's a team that nobody wants to face because Joe
70:17Burrow has been there before, and he can beat anybody on playoffs.
70:21He's the only elite quarterback in the AFC who's been there besides Mahomes.
70:25Like, Allen and Lamar have not done it in January for different reasons between the two of them, but they have not been there before since he has.
70:33Plus 1,700, like they're a distant fourth in odds of the AFC teams to win the Super Bowl.
70:38I would rather bet on them than any AFC team other than the Chiefs right now at plus 1,700 to win the Super Bowl.
70:45I just think those numbers are too long. I wouldn't be surprised.
70:48Like, they're roughly even with the Ravens to win the division at some books, and yet the Ravens are plus 1,000 consensus
70:55odds to win the Super Bowl, and the Bengals are plus 1,700.
70:58That doesn't make sense to me. The Bengals have been the better team through two weeks of the season.
71:03On top of that two-worm, on top of that two-worm, this is a market inefficiency.
71:08This is a market inefficiency. Yeah, because I'm like, look, you kids!
71:11And these market inefficiencies! Hey, hey, hey! 15 miles in the snow to make this bet, okay?
71:16On the Cincinnati Bengals to do the damn thing, because if you look at, again, the market inefficiency, tell me how it makes any sense.
71:23The Bengals are that far of Super Bowl odds, yet when we flip over the cards right now, Joe Burrow is tied
71:30with Lamar Jackson for the second-best MVP odds. That doesn't make any sense.
71:33He's tied with him at plus 850, only behind Josh Allen, but then the Bengals' Super Bowl odds are that long?
71:39Come on. The last thing I'll say on this Super Bowl odds conversation is, and I mentioned them when I first was
71:46bringing this up, man, defending Super Bowl champs, they're going to get Sam Darnold back, plus 1100.
71:51Yeah. And the Rams look very gettable. If you told us a month ago that the Rams were not going to be
71:57the team we thought they were, Seattle would have been a heavy favorite to come out of the NFC.
72:02Those are the clear two best teams in football, in most people's opinion.
72:06So if you are thinking that the Rams are a little bit overrated and aren't going to, I'm not saying they're terrible,
72:13but they won't live up to that very high expectation from the summer.
72:16Seattle has a very, very nice walk to the Super Bowl from the NFC.
72:20And like, when was the last time a team other than prime, you know, MVP level Stafford did anything against this defense, right?
72:27Like, the only times this defense ever looks bad is when McVay and Stafford are in their bag.
72:32If Stafford another year older, right? Or Puka's issue with whatever and that's no longer a major threat, holy cow.
72:38Like, I don't know how anybody's scoring on the Seattle defense and they're plus 11, the fourth best odds by consensus.
72:44That seems crazy to me. I want to go bet right now on a Chiefs-Seahawks Super Bowl matchup.
72:49I don't know what those odds are, but yes, that's, I want to go put money on that.
72:54but this is the time, don't we? Get these, sprinkle in some long shots, build the portfolio, especially when you get- You
73:01hit one, it makes the whole year, baby. Yeah.
73:03All right, we'll go ahead and wrap things up there.
73:06Thanks everybody for checking out our week two reactions show here on the tailgate for Debro and Ericsson.
73:11I'm Ryan. Thanks for tuning in. We'll see you again next time.
