Alec Pierce

NegativeRole2:26

Derek Brown expects Alec Pierce to return to his role as a field stretcher once he recovers from his injury, rather than stepping into a high-volume target role.

Insight page

Braelon Allen

PositiveValue33:36

The source notes that Breece Hall's injury scare briefly increased the fantasy appeal of Braylon Allen as a potential beneficiary.

Insight page

Breece Hall

PositiveInjury20:16

Breece Hall suffered a strained right groin, but reports suggest the injury is not serious, allowing the team to dodge a potential long-term issue.

Insight page
NegativeInjury33:36

Breece Hall suffered a strained right groin, but the injury is reportedly not considered serious. The team appears to have avoided a major issue.

Insight page

Bryce Lance

PositiveBreakout18:07

Derek Brown identifies Bryce Lance as the primary beneficiary of Jordan Tyson's injury, noting that Lance has had a strong camp despite some public skepticism. Brown expects Lance to step up in the Saints' offense.

Insight page

Cam Ward

NegativeProjection39:42

The source expresses significant concern regarding Cam Ward's preseason performance, citing his tendency to hold the ball too long, poor pocket awareness, and struggles with reading coverage. While acknowledging that poor offensive line play and drops by teammates contributed to his struggles, the source notes Ward is learning a new system and needs to improve his touch rather than relying on fastballs.

Insight page
NegativeProjection65:07

Cam Ward's preseason performance was concerning, with the source noting he did not look good and negatively impacted the players around him. While acknowledging it was only preseason, the source expresses worry about his ability to elevate the offense.

Insight page

D.J. Moore

PositiveProjection47:28

DJ Moore is viewed as the clear WR1 for the Bills, with the source noting immediate chemistry with Josh Allen and a better fit in the current offensive system compared to his time in Chicago. The source suggests his previous struggles were largely due to poor quarterback play.

Insight page

De'Zhaun Stribling

PositiveBreakout54:56

De'Zhaun Stribling impressed in his preseason debut with 63 yards on seven catches. The source compares his usage and role to Jauan Jennings, noting his ability to win on jump balls and his potential to carve out a role as a number two receiver in the 49ers' offense.

Insight page
PositiveSleeper59:46

Stribling is worth a late-round dart throw in fantasy leagues because of the high injury frequency among veteran receivers; his preseason performance has increased interest significantly compared to last week.

Insight page

Drew Allar

PositiveProjection60:36

Aller performed well in preseason action, completing 10 of 13 passes for over 153 yards and two touchdowns.

Insight page

Emeka Egbuka

NegativeInjury33:22

Emeka Egbuka is dealing with a toe injury that has him day-to-day ahead of Week 1. The source expresses concern regarding the lack of clarity on the injury's severity and notes that toe issues are particularly problematic for wide receivers due to the impact on cutting and lateral movement.

Insight page

Emmett Johnson

PositiveSleeper51:16

Emmett Johnson is highlighted as a sleeper after a productive preseason game where he forced seven missed tackles on 12 carries. The source views him as a three-down back who could push for a significant role in the Chiefs' backfield.

Insight page

Fernando Mendoza

PositiveProjection60:32

Mendoza looked efficient in his preseason outing, completing 62% of his passes for 97 yards and a touchdown.

Insight page

Jalen McMillan

NegativeInjury20:05

Jalen McMillan is currently listed as day-to-day ahead of Week 1.

Insight page
NegativeInjury33:25

Jalen McMillan is currently day-to-day ahead of Week 1, adding to the injury concerns for the Buccaneers' wide receiver corps.

Insight page

Jeremiyah Love

NegativeInjury13:53

Jeremiah Love is dealing with a high ankle sprain, which Derek Brown notes is a significant concern for a rookie entering the season. Brown has removed Love from his target list for 2026 drafts due to the injury and the team's questionable usage patterns.

Insight page

Jonah Coleman

PositiveBreakout61:00

Although his statistical output was modest, the coaching staff's confidence in Coleman is high, and he is trending in a positive direction; he is described as a 'little bowling ball' who is hard to tackle.

Insight page

Jordyn Tyson

NegativeInjury14:30

Jordan Tyson is expected to miss two months due to a recurring hamstring injury. Derek Brown views this as a chronic issue stemming from muscle imbalances and advises against drafting him, as he may not be fully healthy for the duration of his rookie season.

Insight page

Josh Downs

NegativeRole1:42

Derek Brown and Scott Bogman agree that the signing of Keenan Allen hurts Josh Downs' fantasy outlook. Downs struggled as a perimeter receiver last year (84th in route win rate) and is best suited for the slot; the team is unlikely to move him outside, making him more of a late-round dart throw than a reliable WR4/5.

Insight page

Kaytron Allen

NegativeUsage60:41

Despite a high volume of 23 carries for 85 yards, Allen's performance was described as one of the most inefficient preseason outings for that many carries.

Insight page

Keenan Allen

PositiveRole2:13

Derek Brown projects Keenan Allen to play the Michael Pittman Jr. role from last year, noting that Allen was not 'washed' in 2023, ranking 14th in route win rate and 22nd in slot yards per route run among 109 qualifying wide receivers.

Insight page

Kenneth Walker III

NegativeBust51:35

The source expresses skepticism regarding Kenneth Walker's ability to reach 300+ touches this season, citing his injury history and the fact that he has never exceeded 255 touches in a season. The source suggests handcuffing him with Emmett Johnson.

Insight page

Keon Coleman

NegativeInjury47:22

Keon Coleman was observed wearing a boot, which may impact his availability and role in the Bills' offense.

Insight page

Khalil Shakir

NegativeUsage46:48

Khalil Shakir is seeing a shift in usage, playing 57% of snaps as a perimeter receiver in the preseason with a 15.5 ADOT. While he has historically been a slot-heavy receiver (71.5% career slot rate), this move outside could increase his efficiency but may also present a learning curve against premier cornerbacks.

Insight page

Matthew Hibner

PositiveBreakout50:07

Matthew Hibner is identified as a breakout candidate after a strong preseason performance where he played 80% of snaps in-line, recorded 61 receiving yards, and demonstrated efficiency with 5.0 yards per route run. He is viewed as the potential heir apparent to Mark Andrews in Baltimore.

Insight page

Mike Washington Jr.

PositiveRole60:50

Washington looked explosive with 6 catches for 63 yards; he is expected to carve out a spell-back or change-of-pace role, as his skill set meshes well with Gentry's.

Insight page

Robert Henry

PositiveDepth Chart62:18

Robert Henry's stock is up after a strong performance; he is a special teams contributor who has pushed Katron Allen for playing time, making the backfield situation more murky.

Insight page

Ty Simpson

NegativeProjection55:20

Ty Simpson's preseason performance is viewed with caution. While he looked accurate and decisive, his usage was heavily reliant on checkdowns (5.3 ADOT) and boot-action plays. The source warns against overreacting to one preseason game, noting his limited collegiate experience and the wide range of potential career outcomes.

Insight page

Tyrone Tracy

NegativeUsage45:20

Tyrone Tracy struggled in the preseason game, specifically in pass protection, which the source suggests may have prompted the team to sign additional depth at the position.

0:00This is an iHeart Podcast. Guaranteed Human. It's a tailgate.
0:03I'm Chris Welsh. We've got Derek Brown. We've got Scott Bogman.
0:06We've got some real football to break down. Preseason Week 1 is behind us, but we've got to do some big breakdowns on players.
0:13We're going to be looking at what we learned out of Week 1 in the preseason.
0:18We are going to be doing a stock watch on some rookies.
0:22Really, it's a lot of rookies that have really, really got our attention that we should be paying attention to further.
0:28And we've got tons and tons of news and notes.
0:31Thank you guys for hanging out and checking out the tailgate with us.
0:35Where the Fantasy Pros football side is not just fantasy.
0:38It's straight football talk with my bros here. The King of Bros, Derek Brown.
0:42Bog's in the house and there's a bunch of news and notes.
0:45Whether it has been a slew of injuries and then a few signings.
0:49So actually, let's just jump into it boys. One of the big pieces, this has caused Derek Brown to have to rewrite about seven different players.
0:57Change out the primer. Completely re-altered Fantasy Pros if you guys are paying attention to that.
1:02But the Colts threw a little bit of a bomb into any of your liking of Tyler Warren or my Josh Downs to be honest.
1:09Signing in Keenan Allen to a one year $8 million deal.
1:12D-Bro, you had to do a lot of rewriting.
1:15Do you think we should actually be mourning the potential breakout of Josh Downs now?
1:19Or is this a little bit over inflated? No, I think we should have a moratorium over Josh Downs.
1:25I think so a lot of this goes down to like out Pierce and when do we see him on the field and how effective is he?
1:33But the way that I'm projecting this offense, I think Keenan Allen is going to play the Michael Pittman Jr.
1:39role of last year. I think that until Pierce is back, we're going to see Allen and Downs probably in the two wide receiver sets.
1:46But once Pierce is back, I honestly think, man, like this year could just be like Alec Pierce goes back into the role that he had last year.
1:55He's the field stretcher. He's not going to step into like monster high volume role because he's working his way back from this from this injury.
2:02I don't want to say I'm like overly high on Keenan Allen, but like I think that he is going to play the Michael Pittman Jr.
2:10versus two high role last year because Keenan Allen wasn't washed.
2:13He wasn't dust like amongst 109 qualifying wide receivers.
2:16He was still 14th overall in route win rate.
2:19He was 22nd in slot yards per route run.
2:21So looking at his role versus the peripherals for Josh Downs were not good as a perimeter wide receiver last year.
2:28So I think that yes, Downs can play in two wide receiver sets until Pierce is back.
2:33But more likely what happens is once Pierce is back, Downs and Allen rotate perimeter and slot usage or Downs becomes that
2:39Jaden Reed-esque player in the Colts offense where he's probably only a part-time player.
2:43But I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, guys.
2:46Boggs, what do you think? Do you think Josh Downs is just screwed here?
2:50Because like this is a little bit more fantasy angled to me.
2:54I mean, I was also a Colts guy, a well-known Colts hater, Derek Brown, hating anything I've mentioned.
2:59Remember the Colts? Remember? I'm like, oh, the Colts are going to win and you and Erickson.
3:04Well, Daniel, that's more of an anti-Daniel Jones take.
3:07Flushed me down the toilet on my take on the Colts.
3:10And you're like, ooh. But now they've got all these weapons in here.
3:14They're like, ooh, the Josh Downs and Dale Jones.
3:17But now they are hurt. I mean, this is a good thing for my take there.
3:21It's just a bad thing for people that are invested in like a Josh Downs and fantasy.
3:26It's not a fantasy breakdown. But what do you think about Josh Downs' role with Keenan Allen coming in Boggs?
3:32Yeah. I mean, I didn't want anything to do with Josh Downs anyway.
3:36So I think I'm like the only one that was not very big on Josh Downs.
3:41And this was part of the reason was because they had been kind of flirting with Keenan Allen for about a month
3:47to see if he was going to sign specifically after the Alec Pierce stuff came up and how week one was kind
3:54of up in the air for him. He didn't replace Pittman after trading him really.
3:58So it was Downs and Warren and Pierce. And I think that's enough if everybody's healthy, but everybody's not healthy.
4:04Pierce is not healthy. So we did see Keenan Allen play last season more than 50% outside, which is not what he typically does.
4:11So like Debro said, when Pierce comes back, he can play more inside.
4:15That's probably more when it hurts Josh Downs and Tyler Warren and guys like that.
4:20Why would they take Josh Downs out of the slot for like 47-year-old Keenan?
4:24Like why? Because Keenan Allen is still good. But he's a good possession outside receiver.
4:28Why would you take Josh Downs away from the place that he succeeds?
4:32No, no. I mean, Keenan Allen was a great, like historically great slot receiver.
4:36But why would you take Josh Downs out of that for Keenan Allen?
4:40Why would you hurt him when you can just use him on it?
4:44He started using perimeter stuff. No, I think you're right in that that won't be his specific role.
4:49So this doesn't kill Josh Downs, but it definitely hurts Josh Downs.
4:53It makes him more of a dart throw at the end of your draft than a wide receiver four, wide receiver five
4:59that you would like to roster is kind of how I would write it.
5:04So, you know, maybe Keenan Allen, maybe they have a plan to play him more on the outside specifically because of this.
5:10Once Pierce comes back and you'll see those guys on the field together for sure.
5:14But Downs cannot come out of the slot. This is Downs issue, right?
5:18He's not a contested catch guy. He never has been because of his size.
5:22He can go get some contested catches. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's not his role, right?
5:28So you don't want him outside battling the big corners, the big physical corners.
5:32You want him inside where he can move a little bit more.
5:36And last season, they threw it to him way shorter than they had the previous two seasons.
5:41And he got no yak. He's a catch and fall down guy.
5:44So I really wasn't interested anyway. Keenan Allen throws a wrench in it.
5:48So good for Daniel Jones. Bad for everybody else.
5:51Yeah, well, that's what I wanted to ask real quick, Debro.
5:54Does this change any perception of you at all?
5:57And like where I was saying like Colts divisionally and, you know, like, does this change the or what was my, I
6:03don't know if it was betting pros or I had a couple different Colts takes, but one of them was like winning
6:10over like eight and a half games. I think that was one that we did on here.
6:15And you just weren't about this. Does this change your perception on the Colts as a contender, getting another wide receiver of Keenan Allen's caliber?
6:22I mean, it definitely helps in the sense of it's not going to be just Tyler Warren and Josh Downs for the beginning of the season.
6:30So yeah, it definitely helps raise the floor and ceiling of the Colts offense because they were painfully thin like Ashton Doolin, Nick Westbrook, Akine.
6:37Like these are not serious wide receiver twos in any NFL offense, much less even wide receiver threes.
6:43So I think it definitely can help. Now the win total.
6:46Yeah, I'm still kind of iffy on it because I still think like we have to see like what version of Daniel Jones we get back.
6:53The wheels are starting to kind of come off like before he went out for the season last year, over eight and
7:00a half is plus 132 right now. Any interest there?
7:03Seven and a half is the actual number, but it's minus 140.
7:07That's not good enough juice. Nine wins plus money like that?
7:10I could see them getting the nine wins. Do it.
7:13I could see them getting the nine wins. That I could see.
7:16You're going to twist my arm on this one.
7:19But I don't see like I can't see them taking the division or anything like that.
7:24I'm about to twist your damn words here in a second.
7:27And so not just twist your arm. Two more points on the Keenan Allen and Josh Downs stuff.
7:32One, I would love to just tell everybody right here because I've already been fighting battles on social media because people are
7:39like, oh, Keenan Allen's coming into this new offense.
7:42Does everybody not realize that Shane Stockian was his offense coordinator for two years with the Chargers?
7:47I just want to put that out there as a PSA because I feel like people aren't aware that like they do have a working relationship previously.
7:55So some of the nuts and bolts of this offense are probably different over the years, but also there is some verbiage
8:01and things and concepts that will cross over. So it's not going to be this just like monstrous type of lift for
8:08Keenan Allen to come in at this part or this juncture of the offseason.
8:12And also to Boggs's point, Josh Downs as a perimeter wide receiver last year, dude, amongst 109 qualifying wide receivers, 52nd and separation, 84th and route win rate.
8:20Josh Downs does not need to be playing on the outside.
8:23All right. I'm going to do an impression for you guys.
8:27We're going to, we're going to move on to another subject.
8:30Here's my impression. It's an ankle. So we'll keep it at that.
8:33That's you put a clown nose on me. That's Matt LaFleur talking about Jeremiah Love.
8:38That's my impression of him during the press conference of maybe put some sweat wrinkles on me.
8:43Oh, you got to spike your hair up too.
8:46It's an ankle. Yeah. Well, I didn't spike your hair up.
8:49The jail look going from the early 2000s. LaFleur seems to like.
8:52As inept as the usage of Jeremiah Love looked in week one, you could then go to the press conference of them
8:59talking about Jeremiah Love in saying that what they gave, it's an ankle.
9:03And then perceivably we are going to now have missed time after them using him.
9:07What was it? 14 carries or whatever it was for Jeremiah Love.
9:11So injuries kind of rule the day of week one of the preseason as it can kind of do just in general.
9:17But I thought just the whole process of how they communicated, how they used it.
9:22This is what I'm going to say this lightly, though.
9:25I am the one that said the Cardinals lose every game.
9:28This is what loser teams do. This is like this is what happens with it.
9:32Like teams that are bad and are poorly run, make really poor decisions, speak really poorly in press conferences, and then they
9:39lose their best players for no reason, D bro.
9:42So any quick thoughts on the Jeremiah Love situation and, you know, just like what that does to his potential, you know,
9:48breakout early on that even after it's been kind of reported that they see him as more of the like, I don't
9:55want to say change of pace back, but not the feature back that it's like he might be the guy that's, or
10:01I guess they said like the feature back, but not the every day or every down back.
10:06So that would be something where like Algiers maybe early running some early downs and then Jeremiah Love comes in.
10:12You frame this perfectly Welsh. This is how bad teams stay bad by doing stupid idiotic things like giving your top five
10:19rookie running back selection 14 touches and basically, and who knows?
10:22Like that's the 14 touches we saw. Like could he have gotten more work?
10:26I don't know, man. Like it's just, it's idiotic.
10:29Like he could still be running right now. He could, he could become his fifth, 520th carry.
10:34I mean, the thing about it is, okay, fine.
10:36If the injury doesn't happen, is everybody just like, you know, just crushing the Cardinals about this?
10:41Yeah. I still would not be happy at the fact that like a game that doesn't freaking matter for a rookie.
10:48Like, and the way to your point, the way that they've talked about it is like, we have to go back and
10:54like justify our contract for Tyler Algier. When we drafted a running back top five in the NFL draft, like, what are we doing here?
11:02The mental gymnastics of all the type of like varying degrees of idiocy here is just astounding to me.
11:07That's my, that's my Matt LaFleur. He didn't really quite sound like that, but it definitely, the uncomfortable, like, like an ankle,
11:14we're going to leave it at that. Like Nick Sirianni trying to, trying to run a media room in his rookie year as a head coach.
11:21It felt a little like it just, it was dumb box.
11:25Jeremiah Love. Do you think we are going to see Jeremiah Love in a definitive role at some point this season?
11:31Or do you think between how they are the cards that they are showing us early on, it's not just about the
11:37preseason, the cards they're showing us how their management is working.
11:41There's already an injury. Like, what do you think you're in for, for Jeremiah Love this year?
11:46Yeah, look, I hate that the high ankle strength to start preseason and then go into the year with it, right?
11:52So he is definitely going to be moving down my rankings pretty soon here.
11:56But the thing with Jeremiah Love that I still hold is once we get to the regular season and he's 100% healthy, this is not a contest.
12:04It isn't. Nathaniel Hackett says hi, Boggs. We have seen Melvin Gordon play over Javante Williams in previous Hackett.
12:10Does he want to keep his job? Do any of them think they're going to keep their job?
12:15Just saying. I mean, it's Jeremiah's job when he's 100% healthy.
12:18But there's now there's a built in excuse to limit his touches as well once we get to the regular season.
12:25So with the weirdness of the coaching staff and this injury, Jeremiah Love was a target of mine a week ago.
12:31He is no longer a target of mine for 2026 drafts.
12:34I don't want to get on this ride with a high ankle sprain going into the season.
12:39Yeah, we're not talking fantasy with it. It's more of a much better.
12:43But it's also really stupid. Like, yeah, it's idiotic.
12:46You have critical repetitiveness here at this position. So that's fine.
12:49Right. Like, this is not going to kill the Cardinals, but the Cardinals weren't going to be good anyway.
12:55I don't think they're going to lose all their games like Welsh does.
12:58I'm not as big of a hater as Welsh is.
13:01I'm with Welsh on that. I gave him Colt's hate, but I'm with him on that.
13:06I think they can go winless. I don't think they're going to lose all their games.
13:11I think they'll win four games, three games, something like that.
13:14Not a lot. Enough to be picking a quarterback very, very high.
13:18Again, if I give you 4.5 and I could I take the under and would you take the bet?
13:23No, I wouldn't. Why do you always do this to me?
13:27I just said three or four games. You try to sneak in another half game.
13:31Give me three and a half. I'll get you with the hook.
13:35I'll take the under happily. I'll take the under as well.
13:38Let's do a hair bet. Okay. Hair bet and a beard bet.
13:41I was like, oh, you're going to have to leave me.
13:45You're going to leave me out of the hair bed.
13:48I want to see you beardless. I want to see Bogman beardless.
13:51I'll shave my head. You shave your beard. Oh, I'm not making a beard bet.
13:56No, I'm actually not. I can't be a naked mole rat.
13:59I can't do it. See? He thought I wouldn't do it.
14:02I'm scared. I'm scared the Cardinals might do something.
14:05And then he immediately backed out. If they win a couple games, I can't have that sweat here.
14:10But I do want to see you shave your beard.
14:13So lock it in. If the Cardinals only win three games, Bogman shaves his beard.
14:18If they win four, I do nothing and we move on.
14:21And that's how the bet's going to go. One other big injury.
14:24And then I'll just plow through a couple of the other ones.
14:28Big story was Jordan Tyson. Actually out of Arizona.
14:31ASU wide receiver. Jordan Tyson. Hamstring injury. And Bogman, I'll tell you, you called it right out the chute.
14:36You've mentioned this before. And you also had said this the minute the injury was down.
14:41You're like, this is an immediate tank of something that's going to carry with him the rest of the season.
14:47And sure enough, we're looking at two months now.
14:50And Jordan Tyson's going to miss two months. This is brutal for the Saints.
14:54Y'all remember the Cam Scadaboo game against Texas, right?
14:56In the playoffs and the college football playoffs where Scad went crazy.
15:00Arizona State almost beat the Longhorns. Probably should have beat the Longhorns in that game.
15:04You know who didn't play in that game? Jordan Tyson.
15:07Because he had a hamstring injury. He missed a bunch of games last season as well.
15:12And played through it for a little bit in some other games.
15:16Where he had this hamstring injury as well. Then he gets drafted.
15:19We get into minicamp. He misses a lot of that because of a hamstring injury.
15:24This is a chronic thing that has happened over the last couple years.
15:27He probably just needs to have some surgery for it and fix it or something.
15:32But I want no part of Jordan Tyson this year.
15:35And it really sucks. Because I was really excited to see him and Chris Olave work together.
15:40But, I mean, the Saints fan here. How disappointed are you, Debro?
15:43Yeah, well, Debro actually specifically, kind of citing back to the episode we did.
15:48This was like five or six tailgates ago. If you guys want to go back and listen.
15:53We were doing, kind of forgetting the title now.
15:55But it was like bold predictions for the season or whatever.
15:59And you had picked that the Saints were going to have this like Rams-based power big offense.
16:04And the same one where you murdered me on the Colts.
16:07Are you a little concerned about this now? Because I know you like some of the young guys in there.
16:13But Tyson as the one-two with Olave looked really, really good.
16:16And they're going to perceivably at least be probably the first three or four games at minimum without Tyson.
16:22Yeah, I don't know if we see a fully healthy version of Jordan Tyson for the entirety of his rookie season.
16:28Dude, just package this guy up and FedEx him to the same doctor that Marshawn Lloyd and Christian Watson saw about their hamstrings.
16:35Yes. Because this is a chronic issue. And a lot of like the latest, not reporting, but like research and data and
16:41things like that we have over the last two years of Lloyd and Watson is chronic knee and hamstring issues.
16:47You get imbalanced. This is a long, people don't like look at it in this way, but it should be viewed of
16:54this is a long-term type of buildup type of injury stuff.
16:57Like this wasn't caused by, okay, fine, the mechanism of how he tweaked his hamstring this time.
17:02But it's long-standing stuff of muscle imbalances based off of previous injuries and not correcting those imbalances.
17:07So like with Tyson at this juncture, dude, he dealt with stuff throughout the entirety of the pre-draft process.
17:13He dealt with stuff in rookie camp. He dealt with stuff in training camp.
17:17They're talking about two months. I think it could be like three months, at least until we see Jordan Tyson.
17:23Like they are going to take this extremely slow with Jordan Tyson and they should.
17:27So yes, it's concerning, but also like, I think you could see the Saints offense run a little bit differently considering this
17:34injury news in the sense of, are we going to see a lot more 12 personnel with having Noah Fant and Oscar
17:40Delp there now from the Saints than maybe we saw originally?
17:44And everybody's out talking about, oh, Devon Bailey, this Devon Bailey, bro.
17:47I ain't worried about freaking Devon Bailey. That's not the guy that I'm expecting to step up for the Saints.
17:53Devon Bailey has never been a high-end target earner.
17:56He's never been ultra productive when he has been on the field.
17:59They got nothing from him last year after they traded Rashid Shaheed.
18:03I think this is the avenue for Bryce Lance to step up, dude.
18:07And Bryce Lance showing out in camp. And I've had Saints fans in my mentions like, bro, it's Barry and Brown.
18:13And I'm like, they're like, oh, Bryce Lance hasn't done anything in camp.
18:17And I'm like, then you're following the wrong Saints people.
18:20If you think Bryce Lance has had a quiet or a bad camp, you're not following the right people.
18:25Like, I don't know what else to tell you.
18:28So I think this is a wonderful avenue for Bryce Lance to step up.
18:32I think he can step up. I will say, does it hurt the Saints offense because you're losing like a really incredibly talented player?
18:39Absolutely. Absolutely. But Kellen Moore, I do have faith that they are going to be able to maneuver around this by using more 21 personnel with Travis H.E.N.
18:48and Alvin Kamara on the field and more 12 personnel when you have somebody like Oscar Delp and Noah Fant to where you can run heavier sets too.
18:56So they will adjust. Does it hurt the Saints outlook in their offense?
19:00Yes. But I have faith that Kellen's going to counterpunch here.
19:03I wonder if at all, this is just speculating, but like that injury hyped up the market of Keenan Allen for a
19:09team like the Colts to want to make sure they lock him in.
19:13I don't know anything about the Colts being attached to him, but it's like if he were waiting this out, you know, digs it up.
19:21Kellen has a history with Keenan too. So yeah, could have.
19:24Yeah. So that, that might've been like sparked that up.
19:27Also my prediction kind of was already knocked down a little bit.
19:31Beat reporters. Apparently I immediately tweeted and I, we had a Slack thing.
19:34We were, it's really funny by the way, the Slack thing, Erickson never responded.
19:39Then I saw him tweet about this today. But you saw me do it that I was like, Keishon booty.
19:44Like the, he wants to be traded. The Patriots have talked about it.
19:48Ella, he's a new Orleans guy, like makes all the sense of the world.
19:52But apparently his B reporters kind of completely knocked that down immediately.
19:56Yeah. Yeah. So that, that none of that. I think that booty's staying right there in a, in mass.
20:02So yeah. Booty sitting a couple other injuries, Buccaneers, Emeka Ibuka.
20:05Also Jalen McMillan boat day to day ahead of week one.
20:08And though the, the, the Ibuka one's a little concerning.
20:11It's like a toe thing. And they said it could, there could be an effect on week one.
20:16Brees Hall had a strained right groin. They're saying likely it's not serious, but I mean, my Braylon Allen chairs were screaming there for a minute.
20:24We'll see what that, it looks like they dodged a bullet.
20:27And Ben Johnson said common on guy week to week.
20:30There was a little quote of month to month, maybe as a concern.
20:34Boggs, do you want to take any three of those?
20:37Is there any one of them? Just pick one that kind of jumps out to you that you might have a higher,
20:44high stance on between Brees Hall, Emeka Ibuka, common on guy.
20:47I mean, the Emeka one scares me, right? Because we don't really know what it is.
20:52That that's kind of, we know it's a toe injury.
20:55Like we know the injury. We just don't know the severity.
20:58And you know, I think this is kind of similar.
21:01I don't think Todd Bowles maybe just doesn't handle these situations very well.
21:05Remember when he said, yeah, Bucky will be back in the summer or the fall or winter sometime eventually, right?
21:11Like he said that Emeka is day to day, week to week.
21:14I think he just gives us the range of what this possibly could be.
21:18Is this one of those things where like they're forced to like talk about it?
21:23So he's like, yeah, it could be hour to hour, day to day, month to month, year to year.
21:28He doesn't have to be forced to give any actual.
21:31Then why would they say anything? Why? Like if you're going to sound that dumb, why say anything?
21:37I agree. You know, you just described like half the league of head coaches.
21:41Right. Right. I think he just he's trying to give us information without really giving us any anything.
21:46So that one concerns me. But I will say, like, if Emeka does have to miss some time, Teddy Hurst has had
21:53a huge camp and had a good preseason game as well.
21:56So he is great. And obviously, Chris Godwin can still be fed there.
22:00But Emeka and Jalen being hurt right now kind of stinks for the Bucs.
22:04D bro, any anything for you on Brees Hall or common on guy?
22:08Or if you just are adamant about the Emeka stuff, just any last takes?
22:12I'm glad that we're not mentioning this ahead of AG getting in front of a microphone for Reese Hall because we all know how that ends.
22:20He doesn't take kindly to people talking about injuries before he's talked about them.
22:24So, you know, glad for us there. The common on guy stuff.
22:27I am a little bit worried about bone bruise, hyper extension.
22:31So I think you could see a lot of DeAndre Swift and Menonga, like, slowly eased in.
22:36Just adding on top of the Emeka stuff. Like, I'm worried about him.
22:40Like, he's in a hard race right now for his toe.
22:43Like, when you're talking about toe issues and cutting and moving laterally for wide receivers, yeah, it's a problem, man.
22:49But to Bogman's point, they do got my dude, Teddy Hurst there.
22:52So, you know, we're sitting pretty. Teddy Hurst. Also, signing Vaughn Miller.
22:5615th season he's going to jump into. Signed a one-year deal with the Cowboys.
23:00There's another signing that just happened that we're going to talk about as we are going to learn some stuff, or at
23:07least what we learned from week one. So don't think we forgot about it.
23:11We're going to dial that in. Those are some news and notes.
23:14Let's talk about what we learned. But before we do, I want to hook you guys up.

24:05Breaking down the NFL. So come join us for the ride as things start to pick up and win that autographed jersey.
24:12Won't you have it? Did you hear the new episode of the Hey Jonas podcast?
24:16We are at D23, so we'll see who stops by.
24:19The cast of Frozen stopped by. Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, and Idina Menzel.
24:23I auditioned for Frozen. What? For Kristoff. They said, okay, what are you going to be singing today?
24:28I said, I don't know. That must have been why you didn't get it.
24:32Oh, you probably won. Plus, John Stamos, Hayden Christensen from Star Wars, and more.
24:36And I guess I can share that, uh... No way.
24:39Hey, this is Hayes Davenport. And Sean Clements. We host the podcast Hollywood Handbook on the Big Money Players Network.
24:45Our show is extremely accessible to first-time listeners. Each week, we talk to someone in show business, a.k.a.
24:51the biz, and try to help them with their careers and see what they have to offer us.
24:56Everyone has a good time, and no one gets mad at their publicist for letting them do our show.
25:02We've had a lot of great guests like Sarah Sherman.
25:05Not that great. Actually, can you help me shape this?
25:08Yeah. How about we flip it on? How about we flip the script?
25:11Okay. What if the surprise woman, who actually you think is the straight man, is actually the one who's acting weird?
25:18Adam Scott. This entire time, you've been expecting Adam Sandler to come to visit the show.
25:22I would never expect... Let go of that. I have...
25:25I would never set expectations for something like that to happen.
25:29It seems like you did. If the universe allows for something like that to happen, I'm open to it.
25:34I'm always going to accept. Okay. You know, Danny McBride, fine.
25:37Yeah. It's all this fragile masculinity. Mm-hmm. Exuding. I could smell it walking down the hallway, to be honest with you.
25:44Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. I was like, is that weed? Nope.
25:46It's fragile masculinity. Mm-hmm. Yep. Ben Stiller, no. Because a lot of times, out of context, people don't get it or even know what a circle is.
25:54You know what I mean? Like, they're like, oh, what's a circle?
25:58Everyone's so dumb except for you. And fake. Right.
26:01Fake and also not interested or just like, oh, I've got my life.
26:04I don't care about your life. And a lot of other big shots that wouldn't be where they are without us.
26:11Oh, and by the way, Will Ferrell told us personally he loves the show and he wants to be a guest on
26:17every episode, but he's just so busy. Listen to Hollywood Handbook on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
26:24I'm Nick Turturro. You probably know me from NYPD Blue, The Longest Yard, or Spike Lee's Black Klansman.
26:29But I'm also from Queens, which means I know pizza.
26:32And on my new podcast, Delivering Happiness with Nick Turturro, I deliver pizza from Prince Street Pizza to a new guest.
26:39Are you delivering pizza now? Then we sit down for a real conversation.
26:42I've shared a slice with everyone. From Seth Rollins.
26:45What are you doing with my belt? To Alex Rodriguez.
26:48Just to let you people know, we're talking to one of the goats here.
26:52To Bill Burr. I don't think I've ever met somebody so exactly out of their mind as I am.
26:58And now, we even have more great guests coming up, including the great John Turturro.
27:02It's called happiness. Delivering happiness. Mariano Rivera. Oh my God.
27:05And many, many more. Open your free HiHeartRadio app.
27:08Search Delivering Happiness with Nick Turturro. And listen now.
27:11What did we learn? Well, week one of the preseason out.
27:14I'm trying to remember who it was. It might have been Fitzy that said this.
27:18And I liked it. In years past, the week one of the preseason really just didn't mean anything.
27:24You remember it was like it was a sandwich.
27:26Week one and week four, blah. It was week two and three.
27:30Everything was built into there. Times have changed. We saw a lot more starters in there.
27:35Obviously, as dumb as it was. Yeah. But also, as dumb as it was, the Cardinals running out Jeremiah Love.
27:40The week one of the preseason tells us a ton.
27:43So it's never been more important to kind of break down what we have learned.
27:48And we've got a couple notes from the boys here that have picked out a couple different areas.
27:53Kind of a macro level with a little bit of micro on the players here.
27:58And let's start with the Buffalo Bills. Debro, you took a couple of these.
28:02We'll get your takes on them. But starting with the Buffalo Bills, what was something you're pulling out of week one preseason?
28:08Khalil Shakir might have a different role in this Buffalo Bills offense this year, boys.
28:13Like week one of preseason. And again, small samples for all this kind of stuff we're talking about.
28:18But 57% as a perimeter wide receiver. He had a 15.5 ADOT.
28:22Like, and I know he only got like a handful of targets.
28:25That's fine. You could count on one hand how many deep targets he had last year.
28:30Six. 5.4% of his target volume. So with a 15.5 ADOT and he's playing out wide.
28:35Like, we could see a different version of Khalil Shakir.
28:38And we're not talking about this here. But also Keon Coleman now in a boot.
28:42So is Shakir the guy being in two wide receiver sets with DJ Moore, who also DJ Moore looked fantastic?
28:48But that's what I was going to say. DJ Moore looked great.
28:52Looked like a lot of the problems where it might have been Caleb Williams last year and not so much DJ Moore.
28:58You know what? I mean, I would even turn this conversation away from the Khalil Shakir thing for a second to agree with that.
29:05Like, I'm shocked. DJ Moore looked lost sometimes last year.
29:08They'd move him around, but they move around in weird ways.
29:11Just this early onset, the comfortability, the quarterback play.
29:14Like, I get what you're saying with Khalil Shakir.
29:17But I kind of, like, completely changed my tune on DJ Moore from not being super hyped up to being like, wow, this might be a thing.
29:25And, Boggs, I know you were kind of big into, you're a big DJ Moore guy this year.
29:30But I like this interesting take about Khalil Shakir.
29:33Khalil Shakir has always been, like, just a fine receiver.
29:36Is this about Khalil Shakir? Or is this a more macro conversation about the Bills offense that they might just be cleaner,
29:42even cleaner than they looked in years? Because there's always been a good run game.
29:47But we're always trying to, like, make Keon Coleman a thing.
29:50We're trying to make everybody a thing in that offense.
29:53So they actually have a core of wide receivers maybe in roles that make sense for everybody.
29:58And is Khalil Shakir maybe on a little rocket ship?
30:01Yeah, I mean, it's a possibility. But the new role, I think, is going to throw a wrench into things for Shakir
30:07if he is going to be more on the perimeter.
30:10I mean, 71.5% career in the slot for Khalil Shakir.
30:13So if he is moving more outside, I'm not saying he can't do it.
30:18I'm just saying that it's different. And it may have a learning curve.
30:21You know, when you're out there on the perimeter, you are against the premier corners in the NFL more often than when you're in the slot.
30:29So I think it might be a little bit more difficult for Khalil Shakir.
30:33DJ Moore, I think, just fits perfectly. You know, you go to you go to you're in Chicago and they draft three
30:40dudes that, you know, are probably physically better than DJ Moore right now.
30:44And he goes to Buffalo where there's not anyone better than him.
30:47Like, it's just you had me stop there for a bit.
30:50And I was trying to think of who the third one.
30:54You meant like Loveland. Well, yeah, because you said a Doonsie, a Doonsie and Burden like me and D bro both kind of checked our heads.
31:01I was like, yeah, yeah. And then I'm like, Loveland.
31:04Oh, yeah. I'm searching the mental bank. I was like, OK.
31:08Yeah, yeah. I was trying to think of who the third guy was.
31:12Loveland. OK. Yeah, yeah. So, you know, you have three young players in a new offensive system, all that stuff with with Ben Johnson.
31:19And, you know, DJ Moore, when you're when you're drafting these three guys, I don't think you're drawing up plays for DJ Moore.
31:25Right. You're thinking of what can Burton do for me?
31:28What can Rome do for me? Not not what what can this guy that's already on my roster do for me?
31:35Right. I think that's kind of the thing that was going on in Chicago.
31:39Plus, him and Caleb just didn't work well together.
31:41He's worked with Joe Brady before in Carolina. So he knows the system a little bit coming in.
31:47Him and Josh Allen clicked immediately from everything that we heard.
31:50So I think that DJ Moore is your number one with a bullet kind of in Buffalo here.
31:55And, you know, other guys are going to work off of that.
31:59We didn't even see Skylar Bell in this game because he missed with the lower body injury.
32:04What's it going to look like when he gets involved as well?
32:08So, yeah, there's a lot going on with the bills, but I like that there's a true number one here.
32:13I just think it makes Josh Allen better and it can make all the secondary pass catchers better as well.
32:19In my opinion, it seemed like. The Bears using DJ Moore was like someone driving a stick for the first time.
32:26And then their car, then someone who's driven to drive a stick for 20 years has got him back in Buffalo.
32:32And there's a comfort. Well, there's an entire generation that doesn't understand how to drive a standard that, you know, that's coming up in this world.
32:40And there's an entire generation that doesn't know how to use DJ Moore.
32:43And that's what we're getting at. That's quite fair.
32:46Yeah. Ben Johnson. It's the Caleb Williams generation. Yeah.
32:49You're not wrong about that because, yes, DJ Moore and Caleb never clicked.
32:53But that was because Caleb could never deliver catchable targets to DJ Moore.
32:56So it is what it is. But just one other little fact I wanted to point out with Khalil Shakir last year.
33:031.56 yards per outrun from the slot as a perimeter wide receiver, which he had 100 routes.
33:082.71 yards per outrun. Pretty good. Pretty good. Yeah.
33:11Maybe analytics department saw that and then wanted to push him out there and he could have some more efficiency.
33:17D-Bro says pump the brakes after preseason week one on this.
33:20D-Bro hit it. Ty Simpson hype machine, man. It is out of control.
33:24I've seen analysts out there being like, you need to respond and say you're sorry to people about Ty Simpson.
33:30And I'm like, dude, shut up. Like, I'm sorry.
33:32Like, people are idiotic. Like, getting out here with rage bait and just absolutely ludicrous, idiotic takes after one freaking game of preseason football.
33:39Which, by the way, let's just be honest about the context of Ty Simpson's game in preseason week one.
33:45Nothing he did was overly, like, just otherworldly impressive.
33:48Was he accurate? Sure. Was he playing Checkdown City?
33:50Absolutely. In preseason week one amongst 57 qualifying quarterbacks?
33:53Yeah, sure. You could point to the fact that he had the second most passing yards and he was 17th in yards per attempt.
34:00Also, in that sample, he had the 11th lowest ADOT, which is 5.3, which is Checkdown City galore.
34:06And he had the 17th longest time to throw.
34:08And if you watch the actual film, it was, dude, they spammed them with boot action plays and flooding receivers to one
34:15where basically you're cutting the field in half. He's hitting checkdowns and guys on crossers.
34:19Like, fine. He was accurate. And he was decisive.
34:22There was nothing that they were asking out of him.
34:25And I want to be very, very, like, also kind to this as well.
34:29I wasn't expecting Ty Simpson to grip it and rip it and be doing, like, full field reads and, like, be, like,
34:35hitting deep outs and deep overs and freaking preseason week one.
34:39So, like, I understand that and I wasn't expecting that.
34:42But we can also be honest about what we saw from Ty Simpson and say, okay, he didn't look terrible.
34:48He looked competent, but also not get over our skis and say stuff that's just straight up stupid.
34:53Let me stop you. What did you say about Ty Simpson?
34:56What did he do to you? Nothing. What did you do to him?
35:00I wasn't high on him as a prospect. I think this was a royal we.
35:04Oh, well, because I was going to say, why did the accountability buddies need you to step up for Ty Simpson?
35:11Or was that more of a macro? They weren't asking you.
35:14I'll straight up. This is Chase Daniels out on social media talking about people need to be, like, apologizing to Dan Orlowski
35:20about his takes about Ty Simpson pre-draft. And I'm just like, nobody offers any needs to give an apology to anybody based
35:27off of one week of freaking preseason football. Chase Daniels, shove it.
35:31Don't care. Whatever. Idiotic. Just wanted to know where the accountability buddies were.
35:34That's all I cared about. Boggs, what do you think?
35:37The hype machine needs to chill. It's kind of an interesting one, too, that that's like a big hyper focus.
35:43But what do you think about Ty Simpson? I mean, when you think about Ty Simpson in the way that he worked at Alabama last year, right?
35:51It was a tale of two halves. The first half of the season, he looked like a Heisman contender.
35:57Awesome. Bama looked great. Right? Second half of the season.
36:00Yeah, he was hurt. Probably playing through it a little bit too long.
36:04They got wrecked in the playoff against Indiana. He had to leave that game.
36:08And he just looked like a different quarterback. So, and he's only started, I think, 15 games in his collegiate career.
36:14So, he doesn't come in with that for sure accuracy that we know and like a history of 40 starts like Bill Parcells wants us to see.
36:22But he did go to one of the better offensive situations in the NFL.
36:26So, it's better to look good than bad. This is great that he looked, you know, so strong in week one.
36:33But I'll say Drew Allo looked pretty good in week one, right?
36:36So, let's not put all of our eggs into the looking great in week one of the preseason basket.
36:42I still think that Ty Simpson's career can go many different ways.
36:45Like, you can see the floor dropping out by Stafford gets hurt in the middle of this season.
36:51They put Ty Simpson in too soon. He sucks.
36:53And then Sean McVay decides to retire like he was thinking about.
36:57And now you're stuck with a new coach that didn't draft Ty Simpson in here.
37:01And he looked bad in his audition. Or Stafford decides to play two more years.
37:06Sean McVay wants a long career in L.A. He loves it there.
37:09And Ty Simpson is your quarterback of the Rams future.
37:12And they have Puka and they have this great offensive mind running it for a long time.
37:17So, the situations are endless with Ty Simpson in my mind here.
37:21Where I'm not putting him on a pedestal. But I'm also not kicking him to the curb.
37:26So, I'm pretty neutral on his good game. Like I said, better to look good than bad.
37:31So, that's nice. But there have been... Even in saying this range of different outcomes for Ty Simpson, you've seen it in camp.
37:38I saw someone say, hey, look. A guy snuck into this and took a snap of quarterback for the Rams.
37:44And it looked like that is what happened. And it was Ty Simpson, right?
37:48And then another one. Look at these amazing... It was in the same series where he threw these two darts that were unbelievable.
37:55So, he's got a long way to go. There's a lot of work here to do.
37:59But what we don't want is to see the Malik Willis where he has to play this year.
38:05So, I'm not quite there. No, and I just want to give a quick PSA.
38:09My problem is with all these takes and the reason that I get so animated about this is...
38:14I was about to say, did you tell Chase Daniels to shove it?
38:18Can we not bury the lead here? Dude, but my problem with all of that...
38:23Like, I don't know Chase Daniels personally and stuff like that.
38:26My whole thing about it is getting on social media, doing this rage-baity, gaslighting BS.
38:30Like, you can have... Like, Bogman and I are trying to give measured takes about what we actually saw...
38:36Instead of getting on social media and acting like a total clown.
38:40Clown knows. I thought there would be a little bit more, but there's a clown knows somewhere in there.
38:45We'll talk about the 49ers in just a tiny bit.
38:48But if you watch that game, there were so many positive things for the 49ers.
38:53But a lot of negative things for that Titans team.
38:56And there was a point... And you've got an interesting take in here, D-Bro.
39:00I was hyper-focused on being like, what's wrong with Carnell Tate?
39:03Tate kept getting targets and just... But then the realization starts to click in.
39:07There's something wrong with Cam Ward. And Cam Ward did not look good.
39:11And I think a lot of people are having that expectation.
39:14It's like, all right, you're another year in. You've got more weapons.
39:18It was preseason. But not only did he not look good, he aggressively made a lot of the pieces around him bad.
39:24And I know that could be weird, but plenty of guys can be not great.
39:29And then the greatness can still be around them.
39:32But it takes a certain type of guy. We kind of saw that with the Vikings and the Bengals.
39:37It's like, there can be a quarterback in that can just ruin all this greatness around.
39:42Cam Ward specifically just did not look good. And I think you're worried about him as well, D-Bro.
39:47I am. And I want to be very particular about how I frame this with Cam Ward.
39:52Is there a lot of concerning based off of week one of the preseason?
39:56Absolutely. Like, I would be an ostrich to get on this show and tell you that I'm not concerned about Cam Ward.
40:03But also, I will give context to this that it wasn't all Cam Ward.
40:07J.C. Latham looked terrible, man. He got blown up.
40:10And then, like, when the pocket's getting pushed back into Cam Ward's face on multiple different snaps, it also changes that, like,
40:16that one play where he goes backwards, he's spinning and stuff like that.
40:20He has, like, the big loss. And everybody gets on social media.
40:24And they have their takes and stuff. And I'm not telling you that it was a great play by Cam Ward.
40:30But if you go back and look at the play design itself, did he stick too long in his first read?
40:36Absolutely. Does he have, like, very concerning things? And Cam Ward, if anybody's watched the Netflix stuff of the quarterback series, he's talked about this.
40:44He came from a wing-tea freaking offense in high school.
40:47He really didn't do much coverage reading until he got to freaking Miami, which final year in freaking college.
40:52So coming to the NFL, all of this is brand new.
40:55And now he's given a crash course and having to learn on the fly.
41:00So, and you see this in his play. Like, there was one, specifically the throw that he had that was almost the interception.
41:06He stares down his first read. Ashton Davis, the safety, moves over there.
41:10He comes off the first read. But then he forgets Ashton Davis is in the middle of the field.
41:16Stares down his second read. The pocket collapses around him.
41:19And Davis breaks on the freaking ball and almost gets a pick out of it.
41:23Like, also, Cam has got to learn that not every freaking throw needs to be a damn fastball.
41:29Like, you've got to sit here and layer it.
41:31Put some touch on it. Take something off the gas pedal, man.
41:35There are parts and a lot of issues with Cam Ward's performance.
41:38I do also want to, like, there were two drops off the top of my head.
41:43I want to say at least one by Wanda Robinson that I saw.
41:47And the offensive line did not play great. Especially J.C.
41:50Latham. Like, he looked horrible in that game. So, I am big time concerned about Cam Ward.
41:55But I also want to say, like, this was not only Cam Ward.
41:59And everybody needs to look at Cam Ward. And just take the Caleb Williams approach with this for year two.
42:05His year one was horrible. He was set up in a situation that, like, basically he could not win.
42:10There are serious concerning things here. But people need to just kind of pump the brakes.
42:15And I think Dayball needs to go back to the chalkboard and say, we're going to run the Daniel Jones design here.
42:22We're going to give you first read looks. We're going to make this easy.
42:26We're going to use your... Do some Ty Simpson stuff.
42:29Boot him out. Cut the field in half. Make things easier to make this offense functional.
42:34Are they going to be good enough to do that, though?
42:37So, very popular kind of sleeper team. Like, the truer sense of sleeper teams that people are looking at.
42:42Boggs, do you put this as just, hey, this is preseason for a reason?
42:47Or do you think the hype train should stop maybe a tiny bit on the excitement that was being built around this team?
42:53Because the offensive line looks poor. Cam Ward is making some...
42:57Just, it's the overall construction of what they were looked really worrisome.
43:00And I don't know if that was just preseason.
43:03Yeah, you'd rather look good than bad, right? And this is why.
43:06It's because, you know, a lot of people want to write you off when you do look this bad in particular.
43:13I will say this. Like, I am a big Cam Ward fan, but he does have flaws, right?
43:18And the flaws specifically is holding onto the ball too long.
43:21Whether it's looking at his first read or looking downfield to make the big play, it doesn't really matter which one it is specifically.
43:28He holds the ball too long. That is exponentially bad when you are having offensive line issues as you were against the Niners.
43:35And it's even worse because, you know this Welsh, your defensive line sucks and you look bad against them.
43:41That's why they're trying to trade for Vita right now.
43:44That's a really terrible look for the Titans O-line.
43:46So I'm not going to write the Titans off completely as a dark horse this year because of a bad preseason game, but the initial audition.
43:54And look, there are moving parts to this O-line.
43:57It's a new scheme under Daybol. There's new players here as well.
44:00So they have time to fix this, but it looked miserable against the Niners, against a defensive line that is not very good right now.
44:08So they really need to, you know, I think everything can work out.
44:12If the O-line can gel, I just don't know if that's going to happen after this look.
44:17This was bad. All right. That's a D-bro three pack for you of big macro levels.
44:21But Bogman came in with a BYOT. He brought his own take.
44:25And the take is going to be on the new signing of Najee Harris.
44:29Najee Harris is signed with the Giants. And I think there's a lot of fingers you can point to what this might
44:36be talking about or what this might mean for said players.
44:39So Bogman, your BYOT here is with the Giants and Cam Scadaboo.
44:42Yeah. Cam Scadaboo looked so good. And Tyrone Tracy blocks so well that the Giants went out and signed Najee Harris immediately,
44:49even though they said he's not in football shape and it's going to take a while to get him up to speed,
44:56which means he's probably not going to play in the preseason.
44:59He's probably going to be in the red jersey, you know, getting to work on the body a little bit before we get into the season here.
45:07And I'll probably be it'll probably be available, you know, week one for a limited amount of snaps.
45:12But just this overarching situation with the offense for the Giants, someone is going to need to step up because the run game looks very questionable.
45:20Right. Tyrone Tracy looked miserable yesterday. Cam played. So that's a that's a huge step.
45:24But if you saw that, I mean, there's one video on Twitter going around where he was running routes before the game
45:31and his foot that he broke drug on the ground like he couldn't get it all the way up off the ground.
45:37Did you see it? I put it in the sheet.
45:40Well, watch that if you haven't seen it. Yeah, no, I haven't seen it.
45:44It's not a good look. He looked like he's dragging around a busted foot still.
45:49So, yeah, he trips right over it, too. Yeah, it doesn't.
45:52That's not exactly what you want. Are we are we any Giants playing field concerns in that?
45:57Always. Always. Yes. Until they fix it, there's always going to be concerns about MetLife.
46:02So, you know, and if owners can't afford grass fields, boys, I don't know if y'all haven't heard, you know?
46:08Yeah. Except for the World Cup. But anyway, I digress.
46:11Yeah. So I did like Malachi Field stepping up here.
46:13But Jackson Dark got hit and went to the tent again.
46:17Not his fault. And I love his take on it, too.
46:20It's just like, when you tell me I take a hit, they got to send me to the tent.
46:26I don't know what's up. Yeah, because you keep getting hit, bro.
46:29Yeah, but that one wasn't his fault, though, man.
46:32Like that one wasn't his fault. Tracy. No, it wasn't his fault.
46:35No, no, no. It wasn't his fault. But what are they supposed to do is head ricocheted off the ground.
46:41Yeah. Yeah. I agree with that. So not always his fault.
46:45But I did like Malachi Field stepping up. But this offense looks banged up right now.
46:49Obviously, Cam doesn't look good. We don't know what Malik is going through right now.
46:54There's just a lot of questions for the Giants offense.
46:57So I I fear it's going to be a long season for Giants fans, as it usually is.
47:02Is this more about Cam for you or is this about the running back room?
47:07Or could this be a Tyrone Tracy thing like this does seem like a very weird signing?
47:12Like it just if you're looking for fits and you're looking around the NFL, not the Pat fits.
47:17But if you're looking for the fits for teams, that would have been probably at the bottom third of the league where
47:23I would have been like, oh, you know where Najee should go?
47:27The Giants, where they're talking about it. It doesn't it doesn't add up to me.
47:31So Debra, what's the answer when you're trying to figure out this equation?
47:35I think it's Tyrone Tracy. I think this is they need competition for RB to like we can make it this into a scataboo take as well.
47:43But I think this comes down to simply like, OK, Greg Roman last year with the Bolts.
47:48Now with the Giants, there's a history with Najee as well as one Harbaugh talking to another Harbaugh and saying, yeah, Najee's a good guy.
47:56He'll be good for that depth chart and stuff.
47:58And so I think. Oh, that's interesting. I hadn't thought about that.
48:02Dude, great human being. Najee is a great human being.
48:05I mean, dude, here's my thing. Tyrone Tracy doesn't blow that pass pro and get Jackson Dart just annihilated.
48:11And maybe Najee doesn't end up there. I think it's it could be as simple as that.
48:16And as well as where people like, again, I always talk about this like year after year, whether we're talking about from multiple different angles.
48:23When you get a new coaching staff that comes into a building and a guy is a day three or later pick
48:30and there is no allegiances like, yeah, sure. Same GM.
48:32But the head coach and his entire staff has no allegiances to any of these guys outside of the ones that they just picked.
48:40And this year's NFL draft. I mean, it's all bets are off, man.
48:43You know, like they don't have any allegiances to like, OK, like we are fully invested in Cam Scadaboo or Tyrone Tracy
48:50or Devin Singletary or any of these guys. So it's like if we walk away of like, all right, well, we're another
48:57Cam Scadaboo idiotic backflip and some public event where he pops another like he pops a ligament or something like that.
49:03And now we don't have a running back we can trust because Tracy can't pass block to save his life or cover Jackson Dart's life.
49:10Then we might have a big problem. OK, yeah, sure.
49:13Let's take a free flyer on Najee at this point of the offseason.
49:17So I would love to see Najee and Cam Scadaboo firework fighting.
49:21Oh, might be happening. Might be happening. You guys can let us know in the comments your guys's big macro takeaway from week one.
49:28When you do so, you can get entered into the contest.
49:31And if you guys are listening again on the podcast side, come over to the YouTube, interact with us, drop those comments.
49:37Let us know what you got going on. And let's take it to a stock watch.
49:42So now we go from the macro big perspective and we're going to bring it down micro to the players.
49:48This is a player stock watch. We've each got one player from week one that we're going to highlight.
49:54And then I just got a slew of others I'm going to just throw out and then we can just pick one or two if we want.
50:02But Debro, you're going to kick us off. The Debro stock watch player from preseason week one is who?
50:07My boy, Matthew Hibner, baby. He was doing the dang thing in week one, dude.
50:12I loved him as a prospect. Talked about him throughout the entire of the pre-draft process.
50:17A lot of people weren't aware of his game.
50:19Hyper athletic guy coming out of SMU. Ran 12 routes, got five targets, played 80% in line for the Baltimore Ravens, finished
50:26with 61 receiving yards and 5.0 yards per route run.
50:29He also played well in his blocking assignments like Baltimore.
50:32All the Ravens fans out there. This is your heir apparent to Mark Andrews.
50:36And he had a really good game for his first NFL start.
50:39Yeah, I think it was five targets, five catches, 61 yards.
50:43A big game for Hibner. Looked good on the out and up.
50:46If everybody hasn't seen the film, go to X and pull it up.
50:50One of the funny things, too, is just like, it's just like Zay Flowers.
50:54I feel, you know, it's Derek Henry, Zay Flowers.
50:57And then just people are just dying for anybody else to jump up.
51:01Jacoby Lane is having... Jacoby Lane hype is... No, no.
51:04That's what I'm getting at. Like, Jacoby Lane has looked awesome, but it's just people are thirsty for just someone else to step up in the next place.
51:12So Hibner's a really good one. Bogman, your preseason week one spotlight player is who?
51:16I mean, my guy Emmett Johnson for the Chiefs.
51:19I thought he looked great. 12 for 58. Three for three on targets for 10 yards.
51:24Had a touchdown called back on a holding call, which was disappointing.
51:27But seven missed tackles forced on 12 carries. That was really sexy from Emmett Johnson.
51:32And I think, you know, look, I love Ken Walker.
51:35I've been a Ken Walker guy. I know that I'm the low man on him this season.
51:40You get to get thrown under the bus. I just want to throw this out.
51:44You got thrown under the bus on an episode me, Tara, and Fitzy do.
51:48We both had to do it. It was the perfect draft.
51:52Let me just correct you there. None of you had to do it.
51:56So... Well, Fitzy did it. None of you had to do it.
51:59It didn't have to be done at all. Okay.
52:02From any of you. But it happened. Right. Sure.
52:04He's not wrong. He's not wrong with that. I felt obligated to join in on the fest because Fitzy...
52:10Pick a man while he's down? Is that what you're saying you did?
52:14I mean, Fitzy likes Ken Walker. He didn't have to do it.
52:17He likes Ken Walker over, like, I think, Saquon and O'Brien Hampton this year.
52:22He's in. Same. And he brought up the point of how you were against him.
52:26But I just reiterated the funniest thing. And I'll give you the example I used on the show.
52:31No one was higher on Ken Walker for the last three years than Bogman.
52:36Bogman would get in arguments with people about Ken Walker.
52:39Not last year. I wasn't high on Ken Walker last year.
52:42I wasn't. You were still pretty high on him.
52:44And then you were screaming out. I was. But then here's what happened.
52:48It's like a little local band that you followed then became big.
52:52And Bogman's like, ooh, you sellouts. He becomes a chief.
52:55And you're just like, no, I don't want Ken Walker.
52:58I like Nickelback when they were the local act.
53:00But once they got all the hype, everybody's like, I'm out of Nickelback.
53:04I'm not a pitcher with my takes. I mean, give me a break, man.
53:08Like, this dude has never had more than 255 touches in a season.
53:12We're going to give him 325 because he's on the Chiefs?
53:16That's my issue, right? Is that I think they want to give him this role and this expanded.
53:21Look, he's never made it through a season with a ton of touches like that.
53:25That is my concern with Ken Walker. The talent is there.
53:29It's absolutely there. I also have issues with Chris Olave because he's had injury stuff, right?
53:33The talent is there. These are great players. If Ken Walker can touch the ball 320 times, he's going to be a top five back.
53:41I'll say that for sure. I don't think he can get to 300 touches.
53:45He hasn't ever. So I just don't think it's going to happen now.
53:49That's my thing. So I would like to be invested in whoever the backup is for the Chiefs.
53:54I think Emmitt Johnson pushes everybody else to the wayside by the time we get there.
53:59I don't think Demercado is a threat at all.
54:02And I like Brashard Smith. I think Brashard Smith might have a passing down role here.
54:06But Emmitt Johnson is a three down back. He can do everything.
54:10And if I take Ken Walker, I make sure to handcuff Ken Walker with Emmitt Johnson.
54:15So let's just put that out there. That's what I want to say here.
54:19And no, you don't have to come in and kill me for my Ken Walker take when I'm not around to defend myself ever.
54:26I just joined in the part. Yeah, yeah. I know.
54:29That's the part I didn't like. I know. Well, it's just back.
54:32That's the part I was down. Yeah, it was when you joined in.
54:36I don't like that part. I did join in.
54:39I'm very tempted to do the hair beard bet on Ken Walker 300 touches.
54:43I'm very, very tempted to. You want to do it, you coward?
54:47I'll do it. I'm very close. I'm very close.
54:49Comments below. Who's with me? Who's coming with me?
54:52Who's coming with me? All right. My spotlight, because I get a spotlight here.
54:56Y'all know where this is going. And if you don't, I don't know what to tell y'all.
55:01Dijon Stribling, eight targets, seven catches, 63 yards. Looked absolutely incredible.
55:04Clearly, there's no McCaffrey. We've got to point that out.
55:07No McCaffrey, no Evans, none of that. But Brock Purdy and this offense showed their confidence in him, and he gave it right back to them.
55:15They reaped their rewards because whether it was him on the sidelines through the middle, they tried the screen passes.
55:21I gotta be honest with you, the number kind of does it a little bit, but he reminded me of a way
55:27more athletic version of Jawan Jennings and how Jawan Jennings was used in the 49ers offense.
55:32Because Stribling was able to get up and, you know, the high ball.
55:36He was able to bring down the high ball.
55:39He showed really good possession skills. He made that great catch on the sideline.
55:43This is like what Jawan Jennings would do. And the 49ers were moving him all around in that offense.
55:49And then what happened? Obviously, like seven minutes left in the half, they're just like, get him the hell out of here.
55:55Because he was rolling. Now, after Brock Purdy talked about their level of confidence, the team is starting to pull him out of some of those practice sites.
56:03They see him as a number two. I think this is not just like talk up.
56:08I don't want to be dismissive of like Jacoby Lane and stuff like that.
56:12But this isn't any of that. But Stribling looked phenomenal.
56:15And the question that always arises, and Bogdan, I know you've had this one, is like, and multiple people have, is how are they going to use?
56:23How is Stribling going to succeed in this offense when you've got Kittle and you've got Evans and you've got McCaffrey?
56:29But one thing I would point out, it's the same side on Jennings.
56:33Like Purdy can get infatuated on early targets. He goes first to second reads a lot.
56:38And I think the way they're using Stribling right now, they're going to move him around in that offense and he's going
56:45to be able to play that screen side. They're going to purposefully try.
56:48I mean, I don't think they're going to be trying to play any screen stuff with Mike Evans.
56:54It's going to be throw ball, catch ball up in red zone.
56:57Stribling is going to be the guy that they're going to want to get in screen sets.
57:02He's fast. He's great on the jump ball. The route running still has some work to do, but that offense is built
57:09around so many big core pieces that at the end of the day, Stribling is going to have opportunity and Purdy and
57:15this offense look like they were going to feed that opportunity.
57:19So, D.B., I could just throw to you real quick.
57:22I thought it was one of the, not just from a statistical standpoint, but it was just such an impressive debut from
57:28everything that he was able to do looking like a pro receiver that I think he's established himself into a real role with the 49ers.
57:36Yeah. And I thought Stribling looked really, really good.
57:38I didn't think he looked otherworldly. I did think that he looked really, really good.
57:43The usage stuff was really interesting. I felt like what they were asking him to do in preseason week one reminded me
57:49a crap ton of rookie season, Ricky Pearsall. Like they had him running a lot of like whip routes and underneath stuff,
57:56which is like, I mean, Stribling did okay with it.
57:59Like that's my only questions about his game that the ability to sink and deaccelerate at the top of his routes, comebacks,
58:05curls, whip routes, things like that were the short area agility.
58:08I think Stribling's at his best. Like when we saw on the go route, like the body control.
58:14And when you get him linear, that was, that's the one thing I think we see from him in this offense that
58:20we didn't see in the preseason because they don't want to tip their hand.
58:24When you get that dude moving in a straight line on crossing routes and stuff or deep overs, that's where I think
58:31you can get a lot of like the, the really exceptional parts of his game and the speed and stuff and put
58:37him in ways or places to really succeed. So the usage for Stribling I thought was very interesting in week one, but
58:44I mean, did he look good doing it? Yeah.
58:47Yeah. I mean, I think if you, if you were a Pearsall guy, you should give considerations and to be a Stribling
58:53guy, because I think he's going to be able to take that role.
58:57Boggs, any thoughts on that Stribling debut? He looked great.
59:00I really did like what I saw from him in this preseason game.
59:04He really looked good. And I have been the low man on, on Stribling as well, because I do still wonder what
59:10the role is once we get there, but he looked awesome.
59:14I think he can push Kirk for the start.
59:16He'll be starting over. But, but I tell you what, hold on though, because Kirk looked great at the end of last year.
59:23I've never been a Christian Kirk guy. He went to a rival high school to mine.
59:28And he went, he's an Aggie. I don't like Christian Kirk, but he looked great at the end of last season.
59:34He did. So, uh, you know, I just don't know what is he going to look like when he comes back?
59:40And then, you know, Evans is going to be healthy.
59:43Week one is Debo going to be in shape.
59:46Week one. Debo looks good right now. Do we see from Stribling?
59:49He's still worth a dart throw, uh, in a league at the end for sure, because all these guys get hurt.
59:56All of them. Kirk gets hurt. Debo gets hurt.
59:58Mike Evans gets hurt. Like all of them go down.
60:01And Kittle's coming off an injury as well. There might be a lot on the plate for Stribling, uh, pretty quick here.
60:08He just has to keep stacking these types of performances.
60:11And, you know, I'm not big into buzzy things in camp.
60:14We get those every single year, but when you put that on the field, I'm way more interested and I'm way more
60:21interested in Stribling today than I was this time last week.
60:24Uh, some other really great performances. I think obviously, you know, Himner, Emmett Johnson, Dejan Stribling stock is up.
60:30Some other guys that stock definitely is moving up.
60:32Fernando Mendoza looked really efficient. Um, 62% completion percentage, 97 and a score.
60:36Drew Aller 10 for 13, uh, went for over a buck 53 and a couple of scores.
60:41Katron Allen's a little bit misleading. He had 23 carries for 85 yards, but I think they said like, it's the most
60:48inefficient preseason performance of that many carries like ever.
60:50Like it was just so inefficient for that. Jamari Taylor.
60:53Yeah. Well, who had a lot of carries in was also very inefficient.
60:57Yeah. Well, it's Katron Allen right now in that inefficiency.
61:00Mike Washington six for 63 was pretty explosive. Jonah Coleman didn't do a whole bunch, but man, the, the words after where
61:07it was like, we just didn't need to see any more of the confidence level with Jonah Coleman, even though statistically it
61:13wasn't up, it was one of those performances where things were trending in a really, really positive direction.
61:18Uh, just quick hitter, you know, 22nd pick one.
61:21If there's a guy not on the list. I mean, again, I, I threw Alan Coleman, uh, Washington Mendoza, Aller, uh, D
61:28bro, just a quick hit on any other person that you think is a stock up.
61:32I mean, I'll just pick out, uh, you talked about big Mike wash.
61:36Uh, dude, he looked just as good as he did in college, hated the landing spot, getting stuck behind Gentry, but he
61:43could carve out a really nice, like spellback role.
61:45Um, be a really good change of pace option for this offense.
61:49Cause him and Gentry skill sets mesh very nicely.
61:52Washington can hit some hormones in this offense, man.
61:54If that offensive line can at least open up some holes for him.
61:58Boggs, uh, your quick hitting a stock up didn't get, didn't get the tab for your actual stock up player, but any
62:05of those guys I mentioned, there could be another that's floating out there.
62:09I, I just think the Washington situation is very interesting, right?
62:12Like I, I think that, um, obviously it's Rashad white and Corey cross game right now, but I think Robert Henry just
62:18pushed Katron Allen who I'm a big Katron Allen fan, but I, Robert Henry looked great.
62:23And he's a special teams guy as well. Can we turn kicks and punts?
62:27So I just think that that situation got a little more murky, but Robert Henry's, uh, you know, his stock is up in Coleman.
62:34Coleman looks so good. He looks like a little bowling ball.
62:38He's so hard to tackle. If he can bring that same thing from Washington to the NFL, I think he could start
62:44for this team, uh, sooner rather than later. So I'm going to be investing in Jonah Coleman for sure.
62:50I got to tell you, you actually were one of the first to put me onto this as well.
62:55Uh, I, I would actually put it if I were doing one more Jonah Coleman, I think the, I just don't, uh,
63:02you look at that situation with Dobbins and RJ Harvey.
63:05I just don't think anybody has a stranglehold on anything.
63:08They love Coleman already. There is a real legit, a possibility.
63:11This could be one of those guys week seven, week eight or something like that.
63:15And maybe he just has a future role. So I'm big stock up on Jonah Coleman, but who are you guys stocking up?
63:22There's a bunch of great week one performances. Who do you think improved themselves the most?
