Aaron Jones

PositiveUsage12:20

With Jordan Mason on IR, Aaron Jones is expected to take on a bell-cow role for the Vikings. Analysts point to his history of high-touch games when Mason is out and his strong production against the Bears as reasons to expect heavy usage and productivity.

Insight page
PositiveUsage52:58

Aaron Jones is expected to be hyper-focused in the Vikings' offense, particularly on checkdowns.

Insight page

PositiveUsage44:36

There is high enthusiasm for Bijan Robinson's potential workload against Carolina, with the suggestion that he could see up to 40 touches.

PositiveUsage40:48

Blake Corum appeared unaffected by travel and time zone changes in Week 1, looking explosive every time he touched the ball.

Insight page

Carson Wentz

PositiveProjection30:55

Carson Wentz is credited with performing better than expected in his recent outing. Analysts suggest he is capable of providing stability and positive production for the Vikings' offense.

Insight page

Colston Loveland

NegativeUsage19:18

Colson Loveland was a non-factor in the previous game, but expectations are that he will see increased involvement in the upcoming Bears offense.

Insight page
NegativeUsage31:55

Colston Loveland is described as a 'nothing burger' in the Bears' offense after failing to make an impact in the opening game.

Insight page

Deshaun Watson

NegativeBust46:48

Pat Fitzmaurice predicts the Browns will bench Deshaun Watson following a poor performance against the Buccaneers, citing a lack of merit to keep the starting job.

Insight page

Jadarian Price

PositiveValue30:38

Jadarian Price is highlighted as a preferred start for the upcoming week, with analysts favoring him despite the matchup difficulty.

Insight page

Jayden Higgins

NegativeInjury2:06

Jaden Higgins suffered an ACL tear and will be out for the entire season, further depleting the Texans' wide receiver depth chart.

Insight page

Jaylen Waddle

NegativeUsage24:36

Jalen Waddle is coming off a disappointing 'nothing burger' performance in Week 1, leaving questions about his immediate outlook.

Insight page

Joe Burrow

NegativeInjury49:38

Joe Burrow is dealing with minor back tightness and soreness, but is expected to be fine for the upcoming game.

Insight page

Jonathan Taylor

NegativeProjection36:56

Jonathan Taylor shows significant home-road splits, with his rushing production falling off dramatically when playing away from home. He faces a tough road matchup against Kansas City.

Insight page
PositiveUsage38:04

The Colts are expected to lean on their running game in Week 2 to help mitigate quarterback rust and inconsistency, with a focus on getting their running backs involved early.

Insight page

Jordan Addison

NegativeUsage52:03

Jordan Addison was not involved in the Vikings' offense in Week 1 but remains part of the team's offensive core.

Insight page

Jordan Mason

NegativeInjury12:13

Jordan Mason has been placed on IR with a thumb injury. The analysts believe the injury is not long-term and he will be ready to return once the thumb heals.

Insight page

Justin Herbert

NegativeProjection58:12

The Chargers' offense looked stunted and vanilla in Week 1, raising concerns that Greg Roman's scheme might limit Justin Herbert's upside and turn him into a game-manager rather than the top-five quarterback previously projected.

Insight page

Justin Jefferson

PositiveMatchup22:25

Justin Jefferson consistently performs at a high level regardless of the quarterback, with the notable exception of J.J. McCarthy and Max Brosman.

Insight page
PositiveUsage52:53

Justin Jefferson is the primary target for Carson Wentz in the Vikings' offense.

Insight page

Kenneth Walker III

PositiveUsage35:40

Kenneth Walker is expected to be a focal point of the Chiefs' offense, with the team likely to lean heavily on his rushing ability against a vulnerable Colts run defense.

Insight page

Ladd McConkey

NegativeInjury20:32

Ladd McConkey is questionable with a rib injury. Analysts believe the Chargers are more likely to push him to play than the Ravens are with Zay Flowers, making him a 50-50 proposition for Week 2.

Insight page
NegativeInjury58:46

The potential absence of Ladd McConkey for the Chargers adds further concern to an offense that already struggled with efficiency and play-calling in Week 1.

Insight page

Malik Nabers

PositiveBreakout39:50

Malik Nabers is highlighted as a player who performed well in Week 1, contributing to the sentiment that the Giants are a legitimate team.

Insight page

Marvin Harrison Jr.

PositiveUsage33:02

Marvin Harrison Jr. is being utilized primarily as a 'sacrificial X' running deep go routes, which does not align with his skill set and limits his fantasy breakout potential.

Insight page

Matthew Stafford

NegativeProjection43:36

Matthew Stafford looked out of sync and poor in Week 1, with Pat Fitzmaurice noting he looked like 'Blake Bortles' and had several turnover-worthy throws, including a contested catch by Puka Nacua that was nearly intercepted.

Insight page

Nico Collins

NegativeInjury0:43

Nico Collins is dealing with a midweek hamstring injury that puts his Week 2 availability in serious doubt. Given his history of lower-body soft tissue injuries and the typical recovery timeline for midweek hamstring issues, the analysts believe he is more likely to sit out than play. Even if he does suit up, there is significant concern regarding his effectiveness and the risk of re-aggravation.

Insight page
NegativeInjury50:45

Nico Collins is expected to miss the Week 2 game due to a grade one hamstring strain after failing to practice.

Insight page

Pat Bryant

PositiveUsage23:34

Pat Bryant was one of the few bright spots in the Denver Broncos' offense during their Week 1 performance.

Insight page

Puka Nacua

NegativeUsage43:44

Puka Nacua had a long completion in Week 1 that was nearly intercepted due to a contested catch where the defender was a split second late.

Insight page

Quentin Johnston

NegativeUsage58:48

Quentin Johnston failed to see the deep-ball usage expected in the new Chargers offense, contributing to the team's overall vanilla and ineffective performance in Week 1.

Insight page

Rhamondre Stevenson

NegativeUsage57:06

Andrew Erickson is monitoring the Patriots' backfield deployment between Rhamondre Stevenson and Henderson.

Insight page

RJ Harvey

NegativeInjury11:35

RJ Harvey is dealing with a hamstring injury of unknown severity, which could open up an opportunity for Jonah Coleman if Harvey misses time.

Insight page

Romeo Doubs

NegativeBust57:11

Romeo Doubs' performance in Week 1 was disappointing despite the large contract he signed with the Patriots.

Insight page

Shedeur Sanders

PositiveBreakout46:48

Pat Fitzmaurice predicts Shedeur Sanders will replace Deshaun Watson as the Browns' starting quarterback by Week 3.

Insight page

Tank Dell

NegativeInjury3:47

Tank Dell is currently on the IR, which the analysts note is a major missed opportunity for him to have stepped up in the Texans' offense.

Insight page

Trevor Lawrence

PositiveMatchup24:07

Trevor Lawrence has a history of success against the Denver Broncos, having recorded 279 yards and three touchdowns in their previous meeting in Denver.

Insight page

Xavier Hutchinson

NegativeDepth Chart2:15

With Nico Collins injured and Jaden Higgins out for the season, Xavier Hutchinson is projected to step into a top-two receiver role for the Texans, though the analysts express skepticism about his fantasy impact.

Insight page

Zay Flowers

NegativeInjury20:32

Zay Flowers is questionable for Week 2. Analysts doubt he will play, noting that the Ravens likely do not need him to beat the Saints and should avoid rushing him back from a soft tissue injury.

0:00This is an iHeart Podcast. Guaranteed Human. That's Jace dot com.
0:03Are we about to lose a big time wide receiver due to a hamstring injury?
0:07How do the Rams and Niners perform coming back stateside?
0:10Is the preseason's best defense about to go 0-2?
0:13All of this plus some big game breakdowns right here on the tailgate.
0:17I'm Chris Welsh, we've got Pat Fitzmaurice and Andrew Erickson popping up the tailgate, talking with you guys, hitting the football for
0:23this week and we got a ton to cover as mentioned.
0:26Some big game breakdowns, we are going to be having a prediction going into this week.
0:31Some things to watch and there is some big news.
0:34So excited to get to it all and excited to see both of you gentlemen.
0:38But I have to imagine neither one of you are super excited about the Nico Collins news.
0:43Mr. Pat Fitzmorris, Nico Collins popped up with a hamstring injury.
0:46No bueno. You know, the severity looks like it is better than, you know, what we've seen in some more recent hamstring injuries.
0:53But his week two is now in question. So do you have any thoughts?
0:57Really, these midweek injuries are like the worst thing ever.
0:59This popped up, you know, like on a Wednesday during practice.
1:03I will say I did see some video. I think me and Erickson might have been watching.
1:07Maybe it was me and Bogman. It was me and Bogman.
1:11And we were watching some video from that practice and he actually looked okay.
1:15But when the video surfaced to when the injury happened was the big question.
1:19But what are your thoughts on this hamstring injury with Nico Collins?
1:22This is not really a team that can afford to take another hit at wide receiver after losing Jaden Higgins to an ACL tear.
1:29He's going to be out the whole year. So you lose Nico Collins and all of a sudden you're looking at what
1:35Xavier Hutchinson and Jalen Noel is your top two receivers.
1:38A bit problematic and especially with the Texans having these two opening games against high powered opponents with high powered offenses.
1:44The Bills. I mean, how weird was it that it was the Texans defense not keeping up its end of the bargain
1:51in that loss to the Bills with Josh Allen just firebombing the what is expected by many people to be the best defense in the league.
1:58Texans offense certainly did its part against Buffalo last week.
2:01Now you've got Joe Burrow and the Bengals. So you want all the firepower you can muster to keep pace with those guys.
2:08And Nico would be just a massive blow. He's their best offensive player.
2:11All I think I can't do that on this show, but if you guys ever seen that that meme where it's I'm
2:18doing my part, I'm doing my part. And then it goes to Tim Robinson.
2:22I can't do it. There's multiple. It'd be too inappropriate here, but like that's how it vibes to me.
2:27By the way, I'm also super bummed out the tank Dell is on the IR because this would have been the opportunity for tank to just ball out.
2:35And I'm like all about tank this year. Erickson is Kisham booty the prince that was promised.
2:40Will he save this team with all these wide receiver issues?
2:43He's going to have to try. They're going to have to play him more.
2:47He was in more of a part time role in week one, having just been traded to the team in the middle of the preseason.
2:54So he's still getting ramped up. But I mean, you don't like the Texans chances offensively if it's Xavier Hutchinson and Jared
3:01Wayne, Jalen Knoll, who they barely still play, even though he's like one of their most explosive playmakers.
3:06They don't get him the ball nearly enough. So maybe this is a blessing in disguise.
3:10So, wow, we got to play Jalen Knoll in a full time role.
3:14Man, this guy is really good. We should feature him more in this offense.
3:18So assuming that no plays out of the slot, that means at least he'll escape DJ Turner, who will then just lock
3:24up and just take away Hutchinson, who doesn't do anything anyway.
3:28And or match up with Kayshawn Booty, which will be tougher for him as a perimeter X wide receiver because Turner is
3:34one of the better perimeter corners, lockdown type of guy.
3:37So Nico Collins, when he has missed games in the past, because this is not the first time he's dealt with a lower body soft tissue injury.
3:45The Texans have not been nearly as good. I mean, that doesn't really come as a shock.
3:49But in terms of them winning games, I was talking about this on the betting show with Seth, because I actually really
3:56like the Bengals now, because I think that Collins probably won't even play.
4:00And even if he does play, how effective will he be?
4:03He has been one of these players. I think I saw from Yahoo fantasy or somebody tweeted it out that his points
4:09per game drops dramatically when he came back from his hamstring injury last season and guys that suffer these midweek hamstring injuries.
4:15I think it was Jeff Mueller, one of the Twitter doctors.
4:18All those guys like didn't play or they all missed time.
4:22So right now the Bengals are getting points. They're playing on the road.
4:25But Joe Burrow as an underdog. Yes, please sign me up.
4:29That's what I want to bet on. And without Nico Collins, the Texans last eight games are three and five straight up.
4:35Two of those wins against Riley Leonard and Mac Jones.
4:38Hmm. You already answered it. I was going to ask you if you think Nico Collins is going to play Fitzy.
4:44Do you think where is Erickson doesn't seem to on the channel front of a channel Deepak Chona who comes on the Sunday night streams?
4:51I think he had tweeted also that like huge news that there wasn't there was no like severity tag with a hamstring.
4:57But the idea of playing like four days, five days after the injury with the hamstring and a history of these things seems incredibly unlikely.
5:04So I don't think he's going to play. Are you going to three for three that you don't think he's going to get out there this week?
5:12Oh, I'm not a Dr. Welsh. I did sit at a holiday in last night, but yeah, it seems like the news is kind of ominous.
5:20I would say more likely to sit out than not.
5:23I mean, would you even want him to play?
5:25That would be more that that's a better way to phrase it.
5:29Like I don't want him to go out there and play like play what percent of the snaps and you're if you
5:35play fantasy football and then you're sitting out there and you don't know if to start him and then he re aggravate
5:41like the worst case scenario is actually for him.
5:44It's either you have to be 100% healthy or just I don't want to see him out there.
5:49I mean, the Texans could lose even if he does play.
5:52Number one, the Texans went on three to start last season and they ended up going on a run in the playoffs.
5:58Obviously, did not end well with CJ Stroud. So I don't think that a lot of these teams have to be really careful with these wide receivers.
6:06Is it worth it for the Ravens to put Zay Flowers out there when they're heavy home favorites against the New Orleans Saints?
6:13I personally don't think so. I think they can beat the Saints pretty easily.
6:17Even Zay Flowers doesn't play now. AFC matchup against another heavyweight like the Bengals.
6:21It's obviously tougher to take an L in that situation, but I think that we can all agree that the Texans defense
6:27would be the reason why they win this game.
6:30Right. I don't know if it will really will come down and obviously you want Nico out there.
6:35But if the Texans defense plays like they did last week, well, they weren't going to win anyway.
6:40But if they do play like we saw from them last year in 2025 when they were a suffocating unit, then at home you should see them winning.
6:48But I kind of think that that will be the case.
6:51Yeah, we're going to be talking about that a little bit later.
6:55Also, in the world of hamstrings, I believe RJ Harvey had a hamstring injury and we don't know the severity or anything like that.
7:02So if that were to be another missed opportunity, that would be an opportunity for a guy like Jonah Coleman if that does pop up.
7:09I don't know if it was the same level of severity and I don't know if it was like exactly how Nico Collins was.
7:16It came up pretty late yesterday and we haven't seen any new Thursday notes.
7:20And I think he had not practiced on Wednesday, but they played on Monday.
7:24So that's like a Tuesday if you follow me.
7:26You know, like the Wednesday world for Sunday is the important one.
7:30That was relative to a Tuesday. Who's on first is the question.
7:33In other running back news, Jordan Mason. That was a big one yesterday, Nico.
7:37Jordan Mason went to the IR. They didn't mess around.
7:40Thumb stuff serious. And it's all Aaron Jones. They brought in DJ Dallas.
7:44Erickson, I think we talked about it on a show or two.
7:47It's going to kind of dominate the next probably couple days.
7:50But Aaron Jones as the feature back or is Claiborne going to come in and take some of this away?
7:56A lot of people are jumping on the Damon Claiborne train here for opportunity.
8:00And I also think I kind of threw this at you yesterday and maybe if I had more time to think about it.
8:07I'm just worried that the Vikings are not going to want to uptick Aaron Jones's role like at all.
8:12Like they like what they have and the way that they use him and they want to find other pieces so they don't break him down.
8:20Because then if you break him down, you're done and he is older.
8:23But I could be wrong about that. So where do you sit on Aaron Jones being a full-time back?
8:29And will this affect the Vikings? Because I see it a little bit differently.
8:33I think that they will put him in a full-time role.
8:36If you look at last year, last four games, 14, 15, 23, and 21 touches for Aaron Jones.
8:41And that was after he had missed a bunch of time dealing with a shoulder injury.
8:46Jordan Mason was banged up during that stretch. Barely played in the last two games, which is where you saw Jones average over 20 touches per game.
8:54I think the fact that Mason has a thumb injury suggests to me that they feel confident that when he comes back,
9:00he's going to be good to go. Right? It's not like he's dealing with like an MCL sprain or a high ankle sprain.
9:07Like just, hey man, I'm just waiting out my thumb getting better and then I can go back out here and be good to go.
9:14So I think in the meantime, it's okay. We've got Aaron Jones buckle up, break out the sombrero, baby.
9:19Like four weeks, you're getting Aaron Jones bell cow usage because we know that we can then reduce your touches and your
9:26snaps when Jordan Mason returns and he's going to be ready and healthy and ready to go.
9:30So that's how I see it. I just don't think that DeMond Claiborne is going to be trusted in certain situations.
9:36I think obviously like juice wise, like we know that he's an explosive running back and maybe he can provide that there.
9:43But when it comes to red zone usage, pass protection, you already have Carson Wentz under center and that already invites so
9:49much chaos into the Minnesota Vikings because of the way that Carson Wentz can play at times with a gunslinger kind of mentality.
9:56I think having a stable asset like Aaron Jones is going to help this offense.
10:00So I expect them to lean on him pretty heavily, especially when you look at the matchup this week against the Chicago
10:06Bears, cheeks, buns, however you want to describe it.
10:09Worst defense in the NFL. Jones had two really good games last year against the Chicago Bears.
10:14So I think that he is going to be used a lot and be very productive.
10:18We're going to talk about that one. Yeah, we looked at the with or without tool on fantasy pros and the actual
10:25like counting stat production really didn't change. He did average.
10:28He actually does average a touchdown when when Jordan Mason is out and he averaged a lot more carries.
10:33It went from 10 carries to 18 carries based on last year, but the production wasn't, you know, really full out.
10:39I think Aaron Jones, Fitzy is a lock for like third downs and goal line usage.
10:44I'm just I still can't get over that. I would think I think it might go with Damon Claiborne like in some
10:50early downs and some mid run stuff. And then as soon as they get into the red zone or it's third down, Aaron Jones has it.
10:57So Aaron Jones production takes up a little bit, but I'm not sure it's a dominant space.
11:02Do you think and you're if anybody more familiar with Aaron Jones, do you think that's going to be the case and they're going to belk out him?
11:10Or do you think Claiborne is going to get his run as a dynasty aficionado?
11:15You should be able to tell us a lot about Claiborne here.
11:18I tend to think that it is going to be Jones and something close to a bell cow role.
11:24But in the few opportunities that Claiborne gets, assuming he gets them and that they don't just have DJ Dallas be the number two.
11:30Maybe Claiborne can claim a bigger role for himself by making some plays with the opportunity he gets.
11:36And he is a pretty fascinating prospect for a sixth round guy like his Wake Forest tape was a lot of fun, man.
11:42This guy is really quick. The straight line speed is impressive.
11:45Like he is a legit sub four, four guy.
11:48And for a smaller back does better bouncing off contact and, you know, avoiding like hits and just he's better with contact than most backs of his size.
11:56So I'm really intrigued and would love to get a long look at him this week.
12:01I don't know if we'll get it. This Vikings running game against the Bears defense like it.
12:06Whoever's there is probably going to prosper. I need someone in my life to look at me like Fitzy looks and talks about prospects.
12:12Like you started glowing. You glow when we start talking about the prospects.
12:16I love it. And obviously everyone should pay attention to the dynasty coverage Fitzy has done.
12:21So we'll see what that materializes. But they're going to be without Jordan Mason.
12:25But we do have more on that game. The last two bits of news.
12:29This is carrying over from Wednesday as we're recording this.
12:32We don't have any of the Thursday notes, but as mentioned, Lad McConkie and Zay Flowers, both questionable for this coming week.
12:38There was a report that Lad McConkie was seen on a side field on Wednesday.
12:42There was no Zay Flowers whatsoever. But ironically, earlier in the week, there were some more positive words put towards Zay Flowers.
12:49So we're kind of in a mess. If you got to pick a side, Erickson, Zay Flowers, Lad McConkie, who's in and who's out for week two?
12:56I say they're both out. But if I do bet on one of them being in, I think that the Chargers would press more for Lad.
13:04Because losing week one, sour taste in their mouth, they really want to get right here against the Las Vegas Raiders, who
13:10have had success against in the past. And it's a matchup they should be able to take advantage of.
13:16I just don't think the Ravens need Zay Flowers to beat the Saints.
13:19So, Pitsy, same thing. What's your lean if both are out, both are in, or one or the other?
13:25I feel the same as Erickson. Maybe the Ravens don't press it with a soft tissue injury.
13:30With Lad, who got clobbered trying to go up for a pass last week, and it's a rib thing.
13:35You can maybe have him wear a flak jacket or some sort of extra protection, tape him up, whatever.
13:41Maybe he plays. Yes. So, I'd say he's more 50-50.
13:43I doubt Zay plays. Put some tussing on it.
13:46I'm going to lean in either. I got one question.
13:49I don't mean to derail us from the injured receivers.
13:52I just wanted to ask a follow-up question about Claiborne.
13:55So, he wasn't – I was just checking the game book because I couldn't remember.
13:59So, he was inactive last week. Right. Is that special teams related, I would assume?
14:03Because I – You would think Dallas, because DJ Dallas has always played special teams.
14:08Okay. So, I guess that's my only other concern about projecting him for any substantial role when he – I mean, he
14:14was a healthy game day scratch in week one.
14:16Oh, not – yeah. Not safe to do that at all.
14:20I mean, I would like to see him get some sort of role, but – This week will be the telling piece.
14:26Did they sign another running back besides Dallas? No, they worked out Jerome Ford.
14:30He's on the – But they only signed DJ Dallas.
14:33Okay. So, am I wrong that they only took two running backs in active in week one?
14:38I think it was Jones and – No, Dallas was on the roster.
14:41Yeah. Dallas. He was on the roster for week one.
14:44Yeah, he was active and Claiborne was not. Yeah.
14:47Well, then they worked out – For some reason, I was thinking DJ Dallas.
14:51Yeah, they worked out Jerome Ford. I think he might be on the practice squad.
14:55Yeah. Either way, I think it looks like it's going to be – It's going to have to probably be Claiborne, Dallas, and Aaron Jones.
15:02So, there you go. Interesting stuff. All right. We'll get more into that because we actually have more takes on that game.
15:09So, if we want to follow up anymore, those are a few news and notes.
15:13We are going to be breaking down the big games that matter this week.
15:17But before we do, let's talk about our friends over at Polymarket.
15:21It's time to level up your approach to the NFL and college football this season because Polymarket is here.
15:26Polymarket is a legal prediction market now available in all 50 states.
15:29And unlike traditional sports books, on Polymarket, you can trade on all things football.
15:33From Saturday and Sunday slates to who wins the Heisman to who performs the halftime show.
15:38Polymarket gives you the freedom to cash out instantly.
15:41If the momentum swings, you sell it off in real time.
15:44You're in control. No one can lock you out.
15:46And you can also buy in any time. So, when the market dips, like if a team starts slow and drops to, say, 40%, that's not a loss.
15:54That's when you can buy in. At Polymarket, you can buy in cheap and ride the momentum back up.
16:00Polymarket is so confident you'll never go back to the old way.

18:01That's J-A-S-E dot com. Hey, this is Robert Lamb.
18:04And this is Joe McCormick. And we're the hosts of the Stuff to Blow Your Mind podcast.
18:09This week on the show, it's Star Trek. So we're going to be talking about the Borg all week long.
18:14Are you ready to get some probes put in your flesh?
18:17That's right. Tune in. Resistance is futile. We're going to talk science, the culture of the Borg, various interpretations.
18:23And we're going to talk about Star Trek First Contact on Weird House Cinema on Friday.
18:28Listen to Stuff to Blow Your Mind on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
18:33The games that matter this week, they all matter.
18:36They all matter. But the big games that we're going to be watching, let's talk right about it.
18:41We got into it. The Chicago Bears and the Minnesota Vikings.
18:44If we've got a big five this week, the Vikings could have not been on this list.
18:49But the only thing I'm really going to say, because I'm going to talk about this a little bit later, is I
18:55thought Carson Wentz did a much better job than being given credit for.
18:59And he is able to do some positive-ish things, especially for the circumstances.
19:03And now you put a veteran quarterback in for a full week with a good complement of pieces around.
19:08The Bears, phenomenal offense with most points scored on an opening day.
19:11No defense whatsoever. Horrifically bad defense. But they were able to do what they did without really involving any of the big receiving options.
19:18Loveland was a nothing burger. Burden and Odunze weren't insane.
19:21So, like, there's still so much we're probably going to learn from this team.
19:25Eric, so why don't you kick us off here?
19:28Minnesota-Chicago. What's your breakdown of a maybe more balanced Minnesota Vikings team with maybe one of the more exciting offenses in football in the Chicago Bears?
19:35How do you think this plays out and what are the keys to the game?
19:40This matchup is so fascinating because you have the Ben Johnson scientist in the lab offensive play caller going up against Brian Flores.
19:46The madman who threw 75% blitzes at Jordan Love when we go on.
19:50Just, like, two just absolutely insane offensive and defensive-minded head coaches that have had so much success.
19:55And this is a matchup that we have seen in the past.
19:58So, this is according to Ben Solak from ESPN.
20:01And last six matchups for Ben Johnson, he has actually owned Brian Flores.
20:05Like, he has been the one that has dominated these matchups more often than not.
20:09Five and one, his teams are and offenses have been against Brian Flores-led defenses.
20:13The one loss was week one of last year, which was Caleb Williams' first start in the Ben Johnson offense.
20:19So, that makes a lot of sense given that he was still trying to understand how that scheme worked.
20:24The Bears offense last year, particularly their run game, was bad to start the 2025 season.
20:29Obviously, it has taken off leaps and bounds compared to where it was at the beginning of last season.
20:34So, that's one of the things that I'm really looking at in terms of just how Johnson has performed against these Brian
20:40Flores defense in terms of EPA per play, success rate, points per drive, explosive pass play rate, first down, touchdown rate.
20:47It's all above every other team that faces a Brian Flores-led defense.
20:50So, I actually think that the edge is to the offensive side of the football here with Caleb Williams and this elite run game against this Vikings defense.
20:58In particular, the guy that I'm looking at for the Bears offense, besides Colson Lovelin, because I think we can all expect,
21:04yeah, he's going to be more involved, is Roma Dunze.
21:07Roma Dunze. How did the Packers generate big plays was with vertical routes with Christian Watson in week one.
21:13Roma Dunze is the vertical stretch receiver for the Chicago Bears playing on the outside as a downfield threat.
21:18And if you look at the last two games against the Vikings last year, who was the most targeted receiver in both those games?
21:25Roma Dunze. Okay, there is a big Bears run there.
21:28I will say, interesting thing, talking about Roma Dunze in this, if you go over, and this is according to PFF, they're
21:34giving this a poor overall grade from a wide receiver matchup standpoint.
21:38And all three cornerbacks in are essentially top 50 rated overall to top 20.
21:42So again, that defensive versus offensive onslaught. Fitzy, what are your big key points in this game and how do you think
21:48this one is going to play out? I am excited to see the chess match between Ben Johnson and Brian Flores.
21:54And we saw Brian Flores pick on a bad Green Bay Packers offensive line with all those blitzes last week.
22:00Watch him drop defensive tackles in his own coverage this week and just do the complete opposite.
22:05Like, you never know what you're getting from Flores.
22:07And it's going to be a good test of where Caleb Williams is.
22:11Yeah, great point. Because we know that Flores is just going to try to throw a zillion different things at Caleb and make him process everything.
22:18So I'm excited to see that. And, you know, how can you not be a little excited to see what Justin Jefferson
22:25can do against the Bears defense this week? Like, it's Carson Wentz.
22:28But, man, Justin Jefferson cooks whenever Carson Wentz is in the lineup.
22:32Like, the only guy who can slow Justin Jefferson is J.J.
22:35McCarthy, apparently. Yeah, well, there's a couple other quarterbacks that have done it as well.
22:39You're just going to list off all the... Max Brosman.
22:42I just can't wait to see the graphics. There's like, Justin Jefferson with every quarterback not named J.J.
22:47McCarthy or Max Brosman. It's going to be like, you know, the jersey of the Browns quarterbacks where it's just this big name.
22:54It's just like he should have... I would love to see...
22:57We should have a dartboard, a Justin Jefferson dartboard.
22:59He's just throwing darts at the quarterbacks that he hates.
23:02And then he's just got his one positive take on a few of those other guys here.
23:07Next game up, I got to tell you, this is probably the game I'm most excited about.
23:12It is, and I did not think I would say this in a long time, but the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to
23:18be facing off against the Denver Broncos, who looked poor-ish.
23:21I actually thought the Denver Broncos would be a similar team to the Jaguars coming in here.
23:26Good offenses, good defenses. The Jags proved to be both.
23:29Denver Broncos, not so much. There was really no great offensive upside outside of Pat Bryant.
23:34They've got some running back issues. My God. Fitzy, could the Denver Broncos go into week three, 0-2?
23:39What is your take on how this matchup is going to be going down in keys to the Jags versus the Denver Broncos?
23:45Man, the key to the Denver Broncos' victory possibilities, playing better defense and not missing so many tackles.
23:51That was just embarrassing, the way they could not tackle Kenneth Walker.
23:54And I thought I saw that Kenneth Walker had like minus six yards before contact last week.
23:59But we know he had a whole lot of yards after contact.
24:02And it's just strange to think of like Denver and maybe like this defense having some holes.
24:07But now they're going to go against Trevor Lawrence, who went into Denver last year in week 16, dropped 279 yards and
24:14three touchdowns in a 34-20 Jaguars victory. So, man, all of a sudden this Broncos defense is kind of under the gun.
24:20I think that one of the biggest things I'm looking at, there's actually like a two-side wide receiver thing here.
24:26That's where my brain goes, Erickson, of like, how is Parker Washington going to step up from his last performance?
24:31But also I think a really, really big one is going to be Jalen Waddell.
24:36Jalen Waddell and his kind of nothing burger here.
24:38So to me, it's like, how are the wide receivers going to end up performing out of this?
24:43But how do you see this game playing out and what do you think the key points to watch for in the Jags versus the Broncos is?
24:51I think that the Jaguars are going to do what they did last time they went to Denver.
24:56And that's win as underdogs. The Jaguars have been so good over the last stretch of games dating back to last season, 9-1 against spread.
25:04They have been one of the best teams to back into betting streets.
25:07They've been one of the best teams straight up, whereas Denver has not been nearly this juggernaut at home that they've been in the past.
25:14It's interesting. During Bo Nix's rookie year, they were 6-0 against a spread as a home favorite.
25:19Last year, that fell to 4-4. So they were much more mediocre in terms of having this grand home field advantage.
25:25Which betters the market kind of over-evaluating them or over-evaluing them as this team to be extremely fearful of for opposing units coming in.
25:32They're coming off a terrible performance on Monday Night Football that we all saw.
25:3628 missed tackles. 14 were by Ken Walker. Which, I didn't even know that was even possible.
25:4128? 28 missed tackles. That is just absolutely absurd.
25:44That's according to NextGenStats. So, they got to be ready.
25:47They have to play so much significantly better. But off a short week where Jacksonville is riding high after a big demolition
25:53of the Cleveland Browns, I think that the Jacksonville just...
25:56Who's the hotter team right now? I mean, who...
25:58Bo Nix, Davis Webb, Jalen Waddle, this combination looked ice cold on Monday Night Football.
26:03And does that get fixed in one week? Maybe.
26:05Does it get better? Yes. I think it will improve.
26:08But to the extent that, oh, they're going to be firing on all cylinders like the Jaguars are.
26:13Remember, Trevor Lawrence looked kind of shaky at the beginning of last year, too, because he had a new play caller.
26:19He was still trying to get in sync with all of his new receivers.
26:23These new offenses take time to gel sometimes. You saw with Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson last year.
26:29The first four weeks were not good. So I'm not ready to say, OK, yeah, the Broncos, we're going to get back.
26:35They're going to bounce back in week two when you have this unit coming in that is firing on all cylinders and
26:41is carrying over everything from last year. So I like the Jags in this spot a lot.
26:46Can I... If I can just jump in for a second.
26:49I mean, the NFL is the elastic league. And, you know, there's always...
26:53There are bounce backs all the time. And I totally dig what Erickson is saying.
26:57And I know this is a betting show, but I'm just going to...
27:01Like, my favorite spot to bet a team is when it just got humiliated and has the taste of blood in its
27:07mouth going against a fat, happy team that just had an easy victory.
27:11And, I mean, the Broncos are in exactly that spot.
27:14And they're coming home and are going to have the crowd on their side.
27:18So, like, I wouldn't be surprised if we did get a much better performance from the Broncos this week.
27:23You guys, you have a faith, though? Like, Bo Nix looked really, really bad.
27:27But Bo Nix had proved enough, you know, from last season that you can bounce back from that.
27:33But I don't know. I'm a little... I get the logic of all that.
27:37I'm just a little bit dicey with the running back situation.
27:40You know, I was going to ask, like, a Jonah Coleman question.
27:43But it's like, if Jonah Coleman gets more run, this isn't a great spot for him to be going against the Jaguars.
27:50They completely shut down the run with Cleveland, obviously.
27:52But it all is tied around Bo Nix. And Bo Nix looked lost.
27:56But there were a handful of quarterbacks that kind of looked lost last week.
28:00But that one was really, really bad. Like, all of these things aside, I think it is solely...
28:05And it's obviously always on a quarterback. But it is, like, solely on his shoulders for this team to be able to
28:11kind of overcome, you know, whatever that was on Monday Night Football.
28:15They've got the defense to do it. You know, they have that.
28:18But do they have the running game? Does Bo Nix have the confidence?
28:22That's what I'm concerned about. Are they going to be...
28:25Are the Jaguars going to be in his face all game long?
28:28Because they made... He was uncomfortable in week one.
28:31Okay, so let's make him even more uncomfortable. And they weren't able to do anything outside of Pat Bryant that often.
28:37And Evan Ingram, you know, the pieces that you didn't think.
28:40So I guess I just have a little bit more worry.
28:43Evan Ingram. And it's a revenge game. I know.
28:46I'm all about the revenge narrative. I know. That's a prop show thing here.
28:50We didn't talk about Parker Washington, but that dude is such a baller, man.
28:54Is he good? He's pretty good. Like, it's so...
28:57It's like not... Like, I know, like, we were still trying to figure out how he ended.
29:01He eventually won the Jaguars wide receiver one title as fantasy drafts kind of ended.
29:06But just watching in week one, it was so...
29:08Like, it was like night and day. It's like, dude, this guy's like so clearly the number one read in this offense.
29:15Trevor Lawrence trusts him so much. And the fact that he's rocking the gold cleats, I just...
29:19I just... He moved up another tier for me.
29:22Because it's just like all the Jaguars are wearing their teal and the black and the white cleats.
29:27And then you just have this one guy operating middle state out of the slot.
29:32He's got the gold. And I'm like, oh man, dude.
29:34This guy's so good. There's something aesthetically... I gotta tell you.
29:38There's something aesthetically pleasing when, you know, you have the zoomed out cam and you see the offense and you can immediately tell who a receiver is.
29:45Sometimes there's like a physicality to what their body looks like.
29:48But when a dude is wearing like straight up cleats or like some armbands or something, there's something very aesthetically pleasing to
29:55me about knowing exactly where the guy is in the offense because I'm like, oh, that's his look right there.
30:01It's as stupid as it is. And to call back from my PFF days when I had to do player participation charting
30:07data, you don't know how hard it is to be able to label every single player on every single snap until you actually try to do it.
30:15And how hard it is because that's actually how you distinguish players.
30:18It's like, oh yeah, this guy wears really high socks.
30:21This guy has this color of cleats. This guy has this color gloves.
30:25And when they all just wear the mundane colors, you're like, dude, I have no idea where any of these players are like I literally cannot find.
30:32I remember Julian Edelman specifically. He always wore the red gloves because it was a really easy way for Brady to find
30:39him, like because they stood out versus the rest of the colors of the roster of the uniforms from the opposing team, from the Patriots team.
30:46So it matters. Dude, the drip matters. A lot of scrappy wide receivers on the Patriots team, too.
30:51So you got to stand out. A lot of gym rats in there.
30:55All right, we actually have an NFC West battle here.
30:58And I did not think it would be with the Arizona Cardinals.
31:01Just going to throw this out to you guys.
31:04And the reason I don't think this is like an insane big matchup, but why it is, is because there's a chance
31:10the Arizona Cardinals could actually go 2-0. And I just eat all of my words because there's no Sam Darnold.
31:16Drew Locke isn't a quarterback. They still have their defense.
31:19But there is going to be one team that is going to step out with a guaranteed undefeated record out of the NFC West.
31:26So, Erickson, we'll kind of jump to you. What are the keys for the Cardinals to win this game with a Sam Darnold-less offense in Seattle?
31:33We still, again, we know who they are. I like Jadarian Price in this one.
31:38And Drew Locke was relatively efficient in that. But what are the keys for the Cardinals to be able to walk out with a 2-0 record?
31:45I think the Cardinals have to hope that Drew Locke makes more mistakes than their offense does.
31:50Because ultimately this game comes down to the Seahawks defense and Mike McDonald.
31:54Because of all the lack of defense that there was in Week 1, there was no lack of defense on the Seahawks
32:00side of the football on Wednesday night. Again, they showed that, no, we are still an elite unit.
32:05And we're the reason we're going to win games more often than not, especially without our starting quarterback, Sam Darnold.
32:11Seattle is one of the best teams on the road since Mike McDonald took over as the head coach.
32:16I don't have their exact record here, but I know at least against the spread, 13-4-1.
32:21Absolutely elite unit on the road. And that's because defenses travel.
32:24That is the number one reason why they have so much success on the road.
32:28So I understand the, well, it's Drew Locke. Should he be favored by anybody?
32:32I get that kind of read and being nervous about the Seattle Seahawks.
32:36I just think that they're going to suffocate this Arizona Cardinals offense.
32:40I know they have a lot of playmakers, but I think they're going to force Jacoby Brissett into mistakes.
32:45And the Seahawks are going to continue to roll.
32:48As long as Drew Locke doesn't make that, like, really bad mistake, I think that Seattle can take care of business here.
32:54Yeah, Fitzy, where are you at? I thought there was a really interesting comment that, because, I mean, I've been kind of team anti-Marvin Harrison for a while.
33:02I think everyone's kind of moving in that direction, but Jacoby Brissett was asked about it this week.
33:07And he was like, yeah, well, that's what happens when you double team a wide receiver every time.
33:12And I was like, I'm not sure that was necessarily the case there.
33:16I'm not sure that Jacoby was full. Like, there's, like, blanket coverages, and then there's double coverages.
33:21And I'm not sure, like, I fully buy what he's saying here.
33:24But, you know, is there a way that you think the Cardinals are going to be able to jump out of this?
33:31Or is Seattle going to walk out 2-0 relatively easy?
33:34The complaint with Marvin Harrison Jr. when he was in the Drew Petzling offense was that he was the sacrificial X and
33:40just running a lot of go routes and not doing the stuff that best suited his skill set.
33:45And in week one, it seemed like he was the sacrificial X and just running a lot of go routes in the
33:51Mike LaFleur offense, and nothing really had changed. So I'm not that optimistic we do get the Marvin Harrison breakout season we've all been waiting for.
33:59But as far as what the Cardinals need to do to stay in this game and make it interesting at the end, no turnovers.
34:06Run the ball effectively against Seattle with Jeremiah Love and Tyler Algier, because you cannot let Jacoby Brissett just drop back 40 times against the Seattle pass defense.
34:14Like, that's just an invitation to offensive ruin if you do that.
34:17But if you do that, man, the Cardinals, of all the teams we thought were going to be on the short list
34:24of, like, the worst teams in football, Cardinals, Browns, Titans, Dolphins.
34:27Cardinals by far were the most professional-looking outfit in week one.
34:30Like, they look like a pretty scrappy team, and their schedule is murderous, and they're probably going to be lucky to win four games.
34:37But, like, they could be a respectable 3-14 team this year.
34:40Who is the better Notre Dame running back after this week?
34:43Who has the— Oh, it's Love. Which Notre Dame running back has the better day?
34:47Which one? It's the guy who started for the Fighting Irish in 2025.
34:51Okay, let me answer this. Who has the better week two?
34:54This is really what I meant. Which Notre Dame running back has the better week two?
34:59That's more of what I meant. I'll still say Love, even with a tougher matchup.
35:03Erickson, why is it Jadarian Price? Because the Seahawks, since McDonald took over, are 15-2 on the road.
35:08They've only lost twice. 15-2. I'm also— 88%. So I will go with the Price is Right.
35:13Business Traps. Jadarian Price. There we go. The Price is Right.
35:16All right. The Price is Wrong. Kansas City. Indianapolis is traveling to Kansas City.
35:21The Chiefs, there was definitely a statement, but the statement also kind of left a bad taste in everyone's mouth about, like,
35:27what the passing offense is going to look like between Worthy and Rasheed Rice and targets and what that— but it didn't with Ken Walker.
35:34So you've got this Colts matchup here where Jonathan Taylor versus Ken Walker, one of the better we're going to see this
35:40week as far as, like, a running back situation goes.
35:43Fitzy, keys to the game. And why is this a big game, Colts versus the Chiefs?
35:48Yeah, the Colts go from the frying pan into the fire after facing Derrick Henry last week and having Henry stampede them for 140-some yards and three touchdowns.
35:56Now they get Kenneth Walker. And we had talked about this on the Fantasy Pros ranking show and how it seemed like
36:02the Colts are just not going to be good against the run this year because their linebackers are so inexperienced.
36:08And their defensive tackles, who were once really good against the runner, are both, like, 32 years old now.
36:13So, man, I just think the Colts are in trouble here because, like, the Chiefs are just going to turn Kenneth Walker loose again.
36:20And I don't think the Colts are equipped to stop him.
36:23It's a bad matchup. This is a bad matchup for them with Ken Walker, especially when Andy Reid's like, hey, you know what we're going to do?
36:31We're going to drop the playbook, and it's just going to be Ken Walker on two.
36:36That's all that it was on the first drive.
36:38And it's going to be 30 carries. But, you know, the Colts offense, they've got some of those pieces rolling.
36:44They've got to get Josh Downs more involved. Is this going to be a proverbial runaway game with Ken Walker on the Colts?
36:51Are the Colts going to put up any fight for Erickson?
36:54I think they're going to try with Jonathan Taylor.
36:56But I do think that it's worth noting that this offense does not nearly function at as high a level when they
37:03are playing on the road and they're not inside the dome.
37:06It's really interesting. If you look at Jonathan Taylor and his, like, career game splits, I cited it last week because I
37:12liked the rushing yards prop for Jonathan Taylor. And he went over it.
37:16He almost said 100 yards. He averages almost 100 yards per game rushing at home.
37:20But that number falls off dramatically when they go play on the road.
37:24Tough spot here against Kansas City on the road.
37:27They went to Kansas City last year and they did force overtime, but they ended up falling flat to the Kansas City Chiefs, losing 23 to 20.
37:34So I know that when we talk about this on the betting show with myself and Worm, we thought the under was
37:41really strong in play here because I think it's just two teams are going to run the football.
37:46And I don't remember which interview I was listening to, but the most demoralizing thing when it comes to defenses is they're
37:52going to run the ball down your throat. And you know it.
37:56Everybody knows it. And you can't stop it. And you can't stop it.
37:59And I think that's just what the Colts are going to be faced here again.
38:04So it's a tough look for Indy. And yeah, I think if Jonathan Taylor can really get going because both of these
38:10passing games kind of shaky in week one. And that's to be expected considering both the quarterbacks are coming off seasoning and injuries.
38:17What do you do to kind of help mitigate that and kind of knock off some of the rust is like, yeah,
38:23let's get the run game going first. And then I think obviously you'll see these passing games get better as the season progresses.
38:30But in week two, I think it's just be more of let's get our running backs going.
38:34You know, it's a really weird thing. Hearing you talk about home road splits like as a baseball person as well.
38:40That's such a weird thing for football because you understand it in baseball.
38:44You know, baseball, the home road splits are usually ballpark factor relative.
38:48So Colorado Rockies, you've got an altitude situation which leans to just like huge numbers when you're hitting the ball.
38:53But in football, like the only home road thing that I can really think, I suppose there's weather.
38:59But then I think of like turf versus grass, like turf versus grass makes more sense to me.
39:04But that's such an oddity as someone that has baseball in their brain.
39:07Fitzy, you're kind of a baseball guy too. To hear like a running back has dramatic home road splits on how effective they are.
39:14Like it just doesn't it doesn't compute. I'm like, well, what's the altitude?
39:18You know, like, you know, I'm getting at Fitzy.
39:21Isn't that weird? It is weird. Yeah. All right.
39:23Someone else. Someone else tell me. I don't have a theory, but yes, I agree.
39:28It's weird. I was trying to workshop a theory, but you're not interested.
39:31So, OK, we'll go to the next game in the final game here.
39:35Big one. We've got Rams versus the Giants. And the reason this is big is because the Giants are for real.
39:41We are. Erickson, I think you and I both like hand up.
39:44We didn't think the Giants were necessarily going to be for real.
39:48Malik neighbors got out there. He did the stuff.
39:50Jackson Dart looked good. You are very, very pro Jackson Dart this week.
39:54Rams. Rams, there obviously was a disaster with what they did, whether it was it had anything to do with them coming
40:01over 24 hours or whatever before we now are.
40:03And we're going to talk about this later. The question of like how they bounce back coming back stateside here.
40:09But what's your take on this, Erickson, with Jackson Dart?
40:12This is going to be a really, really big test to how real this Harbaugh offense is and how he is.
40:18And it's a test to the Rams being without Garrett and coming off of a really embarrassing loss.
40:23So how do you see this one playing out?
40:26And what is the key to the game that's going to swing it in either direction?
40:30I think we're going to see points in this game.
40:33I think that the Rams offensively are the unit to bet on having a bounce back performance here, just based on how
40:39poor Matthew Stafford looked way out of sync because it wasn't just him.
40:43I mean, the running backs did look at least decently good.
40:46We talked about Blake Corham on the ranking show.
40:49He looked like he was not affected by the travel and the time difference because he would look like he was shot
40:55out of a can every time he touched the football.
40:58So I think the Rams offense can be productive here against the Giants, who I think Dallas had their opportunities when they
41:04had the ball, but the Giants were able to play keep away for a lot of that game on Sunday night.
41:10I believe they asked CeeDee Lamb. They're like, yeah, you know that you only had the ball twice in the second half and you guys scored.
41:18He's like, what? It's like, oh man, like go down them.
41:21Like that's a smart strategy. So I don't know if the Giants will be able to do that two weeks in a row.
41:28So I think that this is going to be more of a back and forth type of contest.
41:33You have dome conditions, which I like to have for a shootout.
41:36Look at the Rams defense. Eight of the last 10 games have gone over the total.
41:41Obviously last week did not go over the total, but it was one of those really weird circumstances of playing in Australia.
41:47The Rams not playing their guys in preseason. I think that after losing, you got to avoid the dreaded 0-2 start.
41:53I think the office is going to be dialed in and I expect more of the same from the Giants offense.
41:59I think that Dart is, he's in full command of what Matt Maggie and Greg Roman have been dialing up for him.
42:05And at Rams defense, that was not good last year.
42:08They added cornerbacks. One of them got absolutely owned by Mike Evans in week one.
42:13Trent McDuffie was obviously their big addition, but Miles Garrett's not going to be out there.
42:17And now they don't have Miles Garrett or Jared Verse.
42:20So I think the Giants offense can score here.
42:23So I'm expecting a shootout on Monday night. Just as a pickup on that thing.
42:27It's just a couple of things happening this week for it.
42:30I always find it interesting when, and I guess I get it because so many players and coaches are just like analytics are ruining sports.
42:37And don't talk to me about this and that and all that stuff, but like how detached guys are because you got
42:44the CD lamb thing that didn't even know how many possessions they had or paid attention to that.
42:49And you guys see the Aaron Rogers thing too, where they were like in an interview, they're like, Oh, you know, Roman
42:55Wilson, he was the most targeted and Aaron Rogers.
42:58Like we don't pay attention to that. He like started yelling at everybody.
43:01He's just like, we don't, no one pays it.
43:04Only you guys talk about targets. Nobody here talks about targets.
43:07I'd be like, I think actually like everywhere's wide receiver ever has screamed and cried about targets.
43:12And that is to receptions, but okay. Just not paying attention to stats is always trippy to me.
43:17Back to you, Fitzy Rams giants. Do you think the, I mean, do you think the Rams are going to go Oh and two after this week?
43:25How do you think this game is going to play out?
43:28And what is your key matchup point that is going to swing this game?
43:32I mean, a future hall of famer, Matt, Hugh Stafford continues to look like Blake Bortles.
43:37They could go Oh and two. I mean, he had such a bad opening game.
43:41Like, I don't know how many turnover worthy throws he had.
43:44Even that long completion he had to Puka Nakua, it seemed like was close to being intercepted.
43:49Like where it was sort of a contested catch and the guy just got there a split second late to get his hands on the ball.
43:57And we know this Giants defense has no shortage of pass rushing talent with Brian Burns and Abdul Carter and Kayvon Thibodeau and Arvel Reese.
44:04If they can hurry up Stafford and put the sort of heat on him that the 49ers kind of unexpectedly did in week one.
44:11And yeah, we could see this be a game if Stafford struggles again.
44:14All right. Those are some big game matchups. You guys can let us know what you think the keys are to the game.
44:21Who's going to pick those out? Did we miss a game that you think is a monster this week?
44:27But those are some of our breakdowns. The what?
44:29Which one? Panthers-Falcons. Come on. Come on, buddy. Which quarterback?
44:32Oh, here's a question. You can't tell me Bijon getting 40 touches isn't fun against Carolina.
44:37It's fun. You know what we should do? You guys ever seen, like I've done this before, the wheel.
44:42I should put a wheel and we just put all the Falcons quarterbacks and just spin it and just see who plays.
44:48I think that's what they're going to do for their decision this week.
44:52And just, whee! It's going to be strange. It's going to be, I mean, Erickson, they might be calling you up.
44:58You might be suiting up here soon for the Falcons.
45:01And guess what? I think you do a good job just handing off to Bijon.
45:05Dude, I look good in a Dirty Birds jersey, man.
45:08I'm just saying. Yeah, and you just hand it off to Bijon.
45:12It's an easy thing. All right. We're going to be making some calls and then we are going to be giving you our each important thing to watch.
45:20But before we do, I want to give you an opportunity to win something cool.
45:24We finished with the Rams and I want you to bring home something with the Rams.
45:29How about one of the Rams' great running backs, Todd Gurley?
45:32You can win a Todd Gurley signed Rams jersey.
45:34This is how you do it. Easy opportunity. All you've got to do is subscribe to the Tailgate YouTube channel.
45:40Do it right now. Then drop a comment and that's it.
45:43I mean, I would say if you're listening to this, drop a comment on this video.
45:48But you can do it on any of the videos.
45:51And I said this on the Tailgate live stream that Erickson and I do on Wednesdays, by the way, at 5 p.m.
45:57Eastern. You can hang out with us. Is that your greatest opportunity to win a prize is actually this one.
46:03Like we had one giveaway on one of our channels where you had to like email a thing in.
46:08And I think that takes more work and that's great.
46:11But this is a newer channel. So your opportunity to make a comment, subscribe is so much better than, you know, the 300,000 we've got on Fantasy Pros.
46:19So make sure you're subscribed to the channel. Get a comment in.
46:23And maybe you could be taking home that Todd Gurley signed Rams jersey.
46:26Let's make some calls. Big calls for this week.
46:29This is going to be a prediction-based call. Whatever it is.
46:32You can go coaching, scheme, team, player, however you want to approach it.
46:36But you are going to make the call. And Pat Fitzmaurice, you are first up.
46:40Make the call for week two. What is your big call?
46:43The Browns will bench Deshaun Watson and put in Shadur Sanders at quarterback this week.
46:48And we know that Deshaun Watson, to this point, has not done anything to keep that job on the merits.
46:53And I don't think he's going to this week against the Buccaneers in the ultimate Baker Mayfield revenge game.
46:59And I don't think the Browns are going to want to have Deshaun Watson starting in week three when they come home
47:05to play their first home game this season against the Carolina Panthers.
47:09And, like, they've got this. Things are moving in the right direction for the Browns.
47:13Like, they have built all these draft picks. They have all these young, exciting players.
47:17What kind of morale, what would it do to team morale if you come home and your team is getting booed by the home crowd?
47:24But it's not really the team. It's the crowd is booing Deshaun Watson.
47:28Like, it's going to be time to pull the plug in week two.
47:32They're going to find the excuse. And they won't have to look very hard when Deshaun Watson plays poorly against the Buccaneers.
47:38Shadur Sanders finishes this game for Cleveland as the Browns go owing to.
47:42And I don't know if you guys saw, Bogman will love this because he knows this was, like, one of my favorite
47:48players over the last, like, five or ten years.
47:51But the Browns made a move to help Shadur Sanders get a little bit happier.
47:55They brought back his buddy Jimmy Horn. Jimmy Horn signed former Colorado Buffalo.
47:59This is big. This is huge. Seth's the nemesis because it cost him the Carolina Panthers' first half money line.
48:05Oh, I love Jimmy. Jimmy Horn's my dude. Because, like, I was just watching and I fell in love.
48:10And I went to Bogman. I'm like, who is this guy?
48:13He's like, oh, Jimmy Horn. I love Jimmy Horn.
48:16And he just signed with the Browns. A total Shadur Sanders being like, bring my guy in.
48:21Get him in. So I kind of, not that that actually does mean anything.
48:25But I'm just pointing out Jimmy Horn. I don't think it means not nothing.
48:29I mean, it's not like he was, like, this super important player to the Panthers.
48:33And the Browns are like, hey, like, if they're going to make the switch, like, let's get Shadur's guys.
48:38He's going to be QB soon. Yeah. I mean, get Watson off this team.
48:42Get Judy off this team. And just let the young dudes eat.
48:46Leave them in Florida when they come back to Cleveland.
48:49Just don't bring them back. If you're like, Deshaun, you don't need to get on the plane.
48:54Okay? Best thing they could do. Yeah. You don't want to get, you're going to have the Boo Birds out.
48:59And I like the take. Shadur Sanders in. And are you also going to say, not only is Watson taken out, but they'll make the full commitment.
49:07And Shadur is going to be the starter in week three.
49:10Oh, for sure. Okay. All right. There we go.
49:13All right. Big call. Andrew Erickson, your big call for the week.
49:16Let's have it. Bengals go on the road, beat the Texans, who will now fall to 0-2 for the second year in
49:23a row, while the Bengals start 2-0 for the second consecutive season.
49:26People forget they did actually start 2-0 last year.
49:29But Joe Burrow got hurt. And so it didn't matter.
49:32But they start 2-0 this year. And Joe Burrow stays healthy.
49:35And they- Joe Burrow is kind of hurt right now.
49:38I just want to point out. I just want to point out.
49:41He's a little banged up in practices. It's his little back tightness.
49:44He's fine. Just a little sore. He just played a football game.
49:48They get a little banged up a little bit here and there.
49:51As long as it's not a calf. Back tightness with a quarterback.
49:55Hand injury. No worries, right? He's fine. He's Joe Burrow.
49:58Yeah. You sure about that? He's fine. You sure about that?
50:01I think that they're going to win. And it's not even more so because I think Joe Burrow is going to have like a nuclear game.
50:08I know I was a little bit lower on him in the ranking show.
50:12It's actually I think that of all the teams that tried to improve their defense of the season.
50:17Cowboys didn't work. I thought the Bengals actually got contributions from their guys that they added this year.
50:23Dexter Lawrence. Boy Mafé. Cassius Howell. Brian Cook. Like all these guys were making plays in that Buccaneers game.
50:28So I know that the fumbles obviously helped them win that game.
50:32But I think that they created pressure on Baker Mayfield, which helped create scenarios where they were able to force the ball onto the ground and create turnovers.
50:40So I think that they can get after CJ Stroud here a little bit, especially if Nico Collins doesn't play.
50:45And I think that it may not just be because of Joe Burrow that the Bengals win against Houston in week two.
50:52By the way, as a side note, there was an update as we're recording this again around about an hour ago.
50:58Nico Collins did not practice and it was I think it was a grade one hamstring strain.
51:03Yeah. So he's not playing this week. Are they playing to see if it's updated?
51:07Because I know I got to imagine because we go from limited to DNP.
51:11That's. Basically, like bad. That's like you never play.
51:13Yeah, exactly. That's a great point because it happened in practice.
51:17Last week. So that and that's a relatively fresh new update.
51:20FYI, within the last hour, as you guys are listening to this, it'll be much more updated.
51:25But it looks like he is not going to be playing.
51:28All right. The final call. I'm going to make the call and I abstain from the Bears and Vikings conversation, though I
51:34probably was insinuating where I was going with this.
51:37But. I am going to say that the Minnesota Vikings are going to take down this great, big, powerful, scary bears offense.
51:43And they're going to pull it out this week.
51:46They're four and a half dogs right now. So I would like a straight money line.
51:50And I am putting this out to Carson Wentz because, you know, Carson Wentz was thrown into a really tough situation this past week.
51:57I thought he did a nice job, serviceable job.
52:00They've got a great defense and it's kind of built around to like a lot of these really great defensive teams.
52:06Like, do they have big star quarterbacks? You know, no.
52:09I mean, if you want to call Bo Nix a big star, you can.
52:13And CJ Stroud and stuff like that. You need a game manager.
52:16Carson Wentz. I mean, he is a Hall of Fame game manager out there.
52:20That's what he's built for. And you've got great pieces around.
52:23You've got Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, not involved last week, Juwan Jennings, nothing burger.
52:27And he's going to get Hawkinson in. I actually think as well, having Aaron Jones being kind of hyper-focused in here, that offense is going to hum.
52:35And it's a great defense. The Bears, it's going to be an onslaught of offensive potential production.
52:40They ain't stopping anybody. And that's a big thing.
52:43So Vikings are going to be able to make a few stops.
52:46I think they are efficient enough with Carson Wentz, which what's he going to do?
52:50He's going to look at Justin Jefferson on every first read.
52:53And if he can't, there's Hawkinson. There's Aaron Jones on checkdowns.
52:57There's Addison. There's Juwan Jennings. It's a really good offensive core.
53:00And I think that combination is going to make the Vikings kind of scary.
53:04So my big call is the Vikings take down the Bears this week.
53:08Does anybody hate this call? Because I know one of you is going to probably hate it.
53:12Erickson's going to hate it. I don't hate it, but the Vikings, again, as someone that had a Vikings money line ticket
53:19that bet the Vikings live because the Packers got the lead.
53:22I was like, all right, perfect time to strike.
53:24Time to bet on the other team when the Green Bay Packers have the lead.
53:29The Vikings got every single break for them. And I'm sure that Fitz can agree to that where penalties, turnovers, it all
53:35kind of worked out in their favor in the second half of that game.
53:39I'm not so sure they'll get as lucky two weeks in a row.
53:43So I think they're still in. Yeah, is Sean Hockley officiating this game for the Vikings?
53:47He's an official. But what if he was like the official official of the Vikings?
53:52They just take him with. That'll be our home road splits there.
53:55The problem is Hockley seems to like playing to the crowd with his calls.
53:59So if they're playing in Chicago, it might not be an advantage for the Vikings.
54:04That's a good point. But hey, live four and a half number at least, at worst.
54:08No, Welsh, I mean, you and I have to pick every game for the pentathlon competition that we're in a combination fantasy betting competition.
54:15I also, I took the points with the Vikings too.
54:18Okay. Yeah. Well, now we both know where we're at on the pentathlon.
54:22So we'll be doing that for sure. All right.
54:24Those are our calls, but we got one more thing and it is one thing to watch each.
54:29Before we do though, if you guys are watching on YouTube, just want to remind you guys, leave your favorite calls.
54:35Do that in the comments when you do so and you subscribe and you hit the like button.
54:41Boom. You could be entered into the contest, but we love listening and hearing from you guys.
54:45And if you're listening on the podcast, you can follow the show and leave us a comment or give us a rating or review.
54:52It really helps out. All the more NFL fans can find this show.
54:56So if you watch us on YouTube, just search.
54:59If you watch us and listen to us on the podcast, find us on YouTube and search tailgate NFL, both sides of it.
55:05Take us with you. If you don't have YouTube premium where you can get it out, or if you want to watch
55:12us and watch Erickson give me faces anytime I say anything, you can do that.
55:16He hates Vikings. Yeah. Oh, and you just froze too.
55:19Actually, that was phenomenal. I don't know if it'll be on the video, but you froze with the tongue out, but make
55:25sure you're on all the stuff and thing. All right.
55:28One thing to watch this week that can be kind of like in the big call.
55:33This isn't necessarily saying this is going to happen, but something you're hyper focused on that you're going to be paying attention to.
55:39Again, this could be player. This could be coaching.
55:42This can be scheme. This can be team. Pat Fitzmaurice.
55:45What's one thing you're watching for this weekend? Some of our viewers and listeners might roll their eyes at this one because
55:51this was so overdone as a storyline going into week one.
55:54But I'm genuinely curious to see how the different approaches to travel in Australia, whether there's any sort of impact on the Rams and 49ers in week two.
56:02You know, the Rams kind of parachuted into Australia last minute while the 49ers got there early, acclimating themselves.
56:08Rams supposedly didn't want to disrupt their circadian rhythms or whatever.
56:11So like the Rams better look good against the Giants after going with that approach to, you know, seemingly short circuiting themselves
56:17in that Australia game against the division rival. They don't look good against the Giants.
56:21It's going to reflect poorly on the organization. Meanwhile, do the 49ers like have a hangover from that game and come in
56:28and sleepwalk against the Dolphins and, you know, maybe not put that game away as early as they're supposed to.
56:33Erickson, your one thing to watch. What are you watching for this week?
56:37Pats, baby. That's what I'm watching this week. The New England Patriots, because I actually have a lot of questions about like their offense.
56:44The fact that they don't have to play Seattle the third time in a row.
56:48I think that's kind of nice where they don't have to play the best defense in the NFL three times in a row.
56:55So playing the Pittsburgh Steelers, how does our offense just play generally when you're not placing an elite defense?
57:00How is the backfield deployed between Henderson coming back as he's been practicing in full with Ramondre Stevenson and the receivers life
57:07post AJ Brown, Romeo Dobbs is the guy that they signed a big fat contract to.
57:11And that looks like a horrible decision one weekend.
57:14Meanwhile, Matt Collins, 33 year old career special team or journeyman guy.
57:17He seems like he's Drake May's boy. And reports out of practice this week have been that Matt Collins has been leading
57:24the wide receivers in all the drills because he is there.
57:27He is their goat, apparently. So Matt Collins spoiler.
57:29We're going to be talking about the betting pro show this week.
57:33We're taking the overs on money. Matt Collins. Let's go touch and touch grass with the feet thing.
57:38Like he just like, I love it. I guess I could appreciate it, but I always find it weird when it's like
57:44two degrees and he's just walking around without I'm a better for worse.
57:48People are going to hate it, but living in Arizona, kind of a sandals guy.
57:52So I can appreciate that, but just straight foot to grass and hopefully to production as well.
57:57Mine. I'm looking at the Chargers offense. That is my big hyper focus.
58:01I cannot believe how stunted they looked. Obviously destroyed survivor pools.
58:04What was it like? 30% had the Chargers. I mean, absolute decimation for survivor pools and the Chargers.
58:09They, they looked awful. The offense looked bad. Herbert.
58:12I mean, are we going to have is the new Taylor watch, you know, how it would be chiefs and it would cut to Taylor.
58:19Is this going to be a Madison beer watch?
58:22Like every time the Chargers struggle, every camera has got to take over to see what she's doing.
58:27Is she broken up with Herbert? Like that offense looks so stupid and so bad.
58:31I want the, I want to see what McDaniels was talking about.
58:35I want to see the, the, the total release of big, deep balls and crazy good schemes and all these things that he didn't have before.
58:42And it just wasn't there. And if lad is out, it's even more important.
58:46How are they going to get Quentin Johnson involved?
58:49That's the thing. Like McDaniels didn't get the, all the guys we thought we wanted to see involved.
58:54Where was the big play out of why Keaton Mitchell is going to be so amazing.
58:59Where's the deep ball to Quentin Johnson. Where was Trey Harris?
59:02It was vanilla. And that's the opposite of what we had been sold on or projected.
59:06So I think I'm hyper focused on what this is going to look like.
59:10Cause I don't need a Ronda Gadsden, a whole bunch.
59:13And I don't need just a bunch of stupid two yard runs.
59:17I want to see the big game play that we thought we were going to have.
59:21And I think not that it can't find itself in the second half of the season, but I'm just going to be
59:28hyper focused on if lad is there as well.
59:30I want to see efficiency. And I want to see Herbert look like that top five quarterback that we thought and not have McDaniels turn Herbert into Tua.
59:38That scares me. When you mentioned the vanilla offense, it reminded me of this time I ordered ice cream.
59:44I ordered Rocky road, but I thought I was thinking I was going to get moose tracks.
59:48And then when you have that type of taste that buddies in your mouth, you're like, oh, I'm expecting one thing and it's completely different.
59:56You're like, this sucks. Oh, it didn't like look, you just, you just dug in and then you got there.
60:01Yeah. That's very jarring. Like very jarring. Like if you think you're going to drink, you know, I don't know, like orange
60:08juice and it's just water or something like that.
60:10You're like, oh, like that's a similar thing. That's what it was like watching the chart.
60:15Yes, we were having a much bigger expectation. You don't want to dip your chips in.
60:19I don't know. Actually, everything I was about to, I was going to say everything I was going to say to dip
60:26your chips in that was going to be bad.
60:28They all sound good. I was going to be like cheese and beans.
60:32And what's a bad thing to dip a chip in fits.
60:35Oh, is there anything that would be jarring? There's nothing bad to dip a chip.
60:40No, no, there's not. Oh my God. Let's go get some chips.
60:43We're going to tell it's a tailgate. We got, we got to go get the chips on.
60:48Tell me if you can find a bad thing for a dip chip because I had no analogy for it because literally
