0:11We've got a full house. It's Derek Brown, it's Pat Fitzmaurice, and it's Jake Seeley from The Athletic.
0:16We're here for a mock draft. We're doing a PPR mock draft, and we are including kickers and defenses.
0:22We almost always do not include those on these episodes.
0:24Our producers wanted us to do one for their words, not mine, the casuals, as you put it.
0:29But yeah, we'll do a little bit of kickers and defense at the end of the show for you guys.
0:35Obviously, we will be waiting until the end of the show.
0:38Although, who knows, maybe one of our fine folks and friends from Discord who has joined us for today's mock draft will consider drafting there as well.

0:55Jake, I was going to ask what you have going on at The Athletic.
0:58I have to assume it's like a kicker strategy guide or maybe your favorite defense is for the first month of the season.
1:05What do you think? No, one of the first things I ever wrote was it's time to ban kickers from fantasy and
1:11the whole article about it and breaking down how like the statistics don't even back it up for the people that argue about it.
1:17But anyway, that's how old that article is, and it's been sitting there.
1:21The best part is you can't even see over there.
1:24Somebody reviewed the magazine that we came out with that year that also because Nando was the boss at the time included
1:30the article, but then had like a spinning wheel to pick your kicker.
1:33And it's a two star review that talks about how amazing the article is, except for the spinning wheel is for the kicker that he posted for me.
1:41So now I have it hanging on my wall as the two star review.
1:45D-Ro, do you have the, you know, fantasy playoff schedule breakdowns for team defenses or anything at the ready for this one?

3:05I didn't actually write down where are you guys all picking fits.
3:08I think you're in the middle, right? I'm at five, five.
3:11D row. It looks like you're a yeah. And I'm on the other end.
3:15You're at the end. I've seen you with the one.
3:18So you cause you always pick 12 and then yeah, I see.
3:21I see. I see that D bro tried to stay in the middle, but not that horrible five, six, but try to
3:27like give it a little bit different. Yeah. I wanted the one Oh eight.
3:31I haven't drafted from here much, but my favorite spots this year, the one Oh five or the one Oh eight right now in the first round.
3:39Oh, really? Mm-hmm. I've got the one Oh one.
3:41And as much as I have really liked my teams when I start off with a running back, I do just have
3:47Jamar Chase, especially like PPR three receiver league. He will be the first pick for me.
3:52Oh, and I don't know that much. Okay. Over Gibbs.
3:54Gibbs would have been the choice. I would run it back.
3:57I, you know, I do have him over B.
4:00John, of course, but yeah, I just think with the three receivers starting in this league, he's the best receiver in football.
4:06I'm, I think the offense is gonna be awesome this year.
4:09Um, they're in every other year offense anyway. So, uh, yeah, it would, it was between chasing Gibbs and with this PPR format, I'll go chase.
4:16Gibbs would have been a fine pick. I think wouldn't have argued against it.
4:20Jake, who would you have gone with the one Oh one?
4:23I would have, I have B. John subtly in front of kids just with, I think Gibbs has the higher ceiling, but
4:29I think the Robinson ceiling is right there. I actually outscored him PPR last year.
4:33And I think people don't even notice that. Uh, the concern being they both have some, I'm at right now it was B.
4:40John, but after watching to a play, I might actually switch back to Gibbs at this point.
4:44That's the tiebreaker. I thought about it too. I've had B.
4:47John is my RB one all off season and I've thought about capitulating after seeing the Falcons offense last week.
4:53Admittedly. I don't know if we're going to get to it cause it depends on how we draft and what's on the
4:59board, but I moved the lobby in front of Drake London after watching to a.
5:03Yeah. I don't know if I would get to that far in terms of the receiver rankings, but in terms of the
5:09running backs, that is the tiebreaker, right? It's like Gibbs is going to be on one of the best offenses of football.
5:15We think, and I'm really nervous about the scoring opportunities for Atlanta.
5:18I think B. John is a better player. Um, I had him higher earlier, but yeah, not at this point.
5:24Well, it might help cause two, it can't throw it more than two yards downfield now, apparently.
5:29So if it's, I would hear about the pick you made at one Oh five, Jackson Smith and jig, but just quickly,
5:35who would have been your one Oh one? I'm also torn between B.
5:38John Robinson, Jameer Gibbs, and kind of want to split those down the middle if I'm blessed with the one Oh one in multiple leagues.
5:45But right now it's, it's still B. John for me also.
5:48And the JSN one Oh five. Was that a guy you were targeting?
5:52I mean, it feels like there's been sort of a consensus top five.
5:55So you were just happy to take whoever got to you.
5:58Yeah. And a league where you have to start three wide receivers, happy to start with one of the top four receivers.
6:04And I don't have JSN that far ahead of Amin Ross St.
6:08Brown, who's just been a pillar of stability over the last three, four seasons.
6:12Um, but JSN, it's hard to argue with that 36% target share last year.
6:16And I don't really think the offensive MO is going to change for Seattle, even though they've got new coaching in place.
6:22Debra at the one Oh eight, you go running back here.
6:25The upside of Christian McCaffrey, not concerned about the missing practice for tightness.
6:28No, I'm not concerned at this point. I mean, everybody else out there is pulling groins and tearing things and stuff.
6:34If the things are a little bit tight, I'm not that concerned, but I've talked about it the entirety of the off season, the CMC conversation.
6:41It's a binary decision. He stays healthy. He's a top two running back.
6:45He gets hurt. He screws your team. I mean, it's really that simple.
6:48So at this point I will take the upside swing on Christian McCaffrey.
6:52Are you taking him as high as one Oh six?
6:55And you feel like you got a bit of a value at one Oh eight, or is that more of the range that you expect to get?
7:02Um, I'm willing to take him like, I mean, one Oh six, I would go Amin Ra.
7:07But I think there's an interesting case of like, whether it's James Cook versus Christian McCaffrey at the one Oh eight.
7:13And I was lucky. I didn't have to make that decision.
7:16James Cook goes right ahead of me. Jake at the turn, you go running back wide receiver combo here, Chase Brown and AJ Brown.
7:22What was the thought process for that? Uh, trying to draft Jalen Brown later, if I can get all the Browns.
7:28Uh, it really comes down to, we've had this Chase Brown conversation a lot.
7:32If anybody's seen the previous shows to somebody that I think is right on par with potentially being James Cook more.
7:38So if he takes that step forward in this offense, we were looking for that touchdown regression to come the other way for James Cook to come down.
7:45And it barely did. And he was still great after going so far up two years ago where that's really my point
7:51about Chase Brown is if he gets a little bit more touchdown luck and a little bit more on the carry department,
7:58he's already got the receiving game upside more so than James Cook.
8:01So that's the real appeal there. And then AJ Brown, another one we've talked at nauseam since the trade happened is that
8:07AJ Brown deep all the Drake may all the upside there.
8:10And then you go get back to Debro because he did make the pick like the fact that I had to push down Drake London.
8:17London would have been there. If, if, if Penix was starting 17 games, London would be there.
8:22It's just, I don't know that we get that target share from Tua.
8:25Yeah. Debro, you go with the lava here pairing him with McCaffrey.
8:28So, um, another guy with some injury history in there, but a lot of upside, especially with the Jordan Tyson, uh, hamstring issues.
8:35Yeah. I mean, it's really like I pushed to lava up my ranks a little bit over the weekend update in the
8:41top 200, uh, with the Jordan Tyson news where I was already had the antenna up as soon as like when the
8:47first thing comes out is they're immediately getting an MRI on a hamstring.
8:50Yeah. It's not a low grade hamstring issue. So I think it's going to linger into the season.
8:55And so the, yeah, the quarterback play is a differentiator for me.
8:59I was kind of surprised you didn't take Bowers given how much we've just talked about him this year and how much
9:05of a fan I know you are. Yeah. You start with a wide receiver in here.
9:09I think you just have to come back with running back because there's that, that top group.
9:14I didn't want to leave it out of, um, you know, low end running back one, high end running back two range.
9:20And I love Kenneth Walker this year. I've got him ranked, uh, running back seven.
9:24I think he's going to be fantastic. I think he's going to be a workhorse for Kansas city.
9:29They just haven't had a running back like this with his playmaking ability.
9:33And so long, it's exciting that it's sounds like they're going to use him in their screen game.
9:38Like I can't wait for Walker. I think the sky's the limit for him this year.
9:42And like, he might've actually gotten an offensive line upgrade going from Seattle to Casey.
9:46Whenever I've had any drafts where I picking first, I've had a lot of Brock Bowers getting to me.
9:51I'm kind of glad that he didn't get to me so I could, you know, finally have an excuse to go in a different direction here.
9:59Um, I went with Derek Henry, sort of the last running back that I was excited to have as an RV one.
10:05Um, I was really hoping to pair a couple of running backs at the two, three turn, but so many of them
10:11went that I didn't have the chance to do that.
10:13So I go Derek Henry and I pair him with the upside of, you know, Malik neighbors and some, you know, injury optimism there.
10:20I didn't love the other options. Henry was an easy choice there.
10:23I didn't feel great about the others. So, uh, we'll see how I feel about that.
10:28Looking back later, uh, fits you're on the clock in another pick.
10:31Is there a player that you're hoping gets to you here?
10:34Yeah, I'm going to take Zay flowers. Um, a little earlier than I would like him.
10:39Ideally I'm, I'm getting him, you know, in the fourth round or closer to the three, four turn.
10:44Um, I'm just confident for a guy who had 1200 yards last year in an offense in Baltimore that had the fewest
10:50pass attempts of any team in the last three years.
10:52And Zay flowers is just a massive part of what they do.
10:56And I'm hoping he does a little bit better in the touchdown category.
10:59Maybe they drop some more red zone plays for him with, um, the new coaching regime.
11:04Declan Doyle is the offensive coordinator. Debra, you're on the clock.
11:07So I'll, I'll throw it to Jake here while you make your pick, Jake, what do you think about that placement for flowers?
11:13It's a guy you and I specifically have talked to each other a lot about in the past.
11:18And that's the thing is I'm good with it because we don't even need to touchdown increase for Zay flowers to return that value.
11:25Cause he just did. Uh, the biggest thing about Zay was that the argument against him, including myself made is that we
11:31just had Lamar the year before throw 41 touchdowns and he still wasn't a touchdown maker.
11:35And, but that's the thing is not every wide receiver needs to be, he was able to make it up in other
11:41areas and take that next step forward. And whether or not Doyle does more for him and we're hoping more in the
11:47passing game, including potentially like a bateman, but I like flowers there.
11:51The only concern is we've just had all three wide receivers back to back to back flowers, Devonta and Ibuka all dealing
11:57with injuries uncertain of their 100% health. And they go back to back to back in the third round.
12:02Yeah. This is the, uh, the stretch here of receivers.
12:05Like obviously those three, you just mentioned then Debro takes Jalen Waddle, then Ted Aron, McMillan, then Garrett Wilson, then Ladd McConkie.
12:11So we're at, uh, what is it? Eight, seven or eight straight, uh, receivers off the board here.
12:16Debro Waddle being the pick there. Is he your favorite of like kind of that whole group?
12:20Would you have taken a Zay, a Devonta and Ibuka if they had gotten to you?
12:25Where does he kind of fit in compared to all those other names?
12:28I've got Waddle right above that entire kind of tier.
12:31Like I've got Waddle at wide receiver 11. Smith is at 12.
12:34Flowers is at 13. Ibuka is at 15. So I would have taken Waddle over any of those guys.
12:40I just think you're looking at the passing volume of the Denver Broncos.
12:43That's what I was going to ask you, Debro.
12:46I was going to like to jump in and ask you the question.
12:49If we knew all three of them were 100% healthy, would you still go Waddle over those three?
12:54Yep. I'll still go Waddle and it just comes down to passing volume.
12:58Like I think Denver is going to actually just keep chucking it at a top five rate.
13:02And with Webb designing plays, we probably get a fast paced offense this year.
13:06So Jake, your picks, Kyron Williams, T Higgins. What went into those?
13:10On brand for the first one. Going to continue to take Kyron late third, early fourth every time he falls there, similar
13:16to the Derrick Henry situation that you had earlier.
13:18Somebody that, again, continually gets overlooked in the fact when they had that 65-35 split down the stretch from like week 10-11
13:24on, he was actually better in PPR. He was actually higher in efficiency.
13:28So I'm not saying that's going to definitively carry over, but I'm not worried about Kyron Williams with the 65-35 split because we just saw it.
13:35And T Higgins really comes down to somebody who's been a wide receiver one.
13:39When everybody's been healthy, Chase Burrow, if everybody's going to stay healthy and be optimistic about Chase and Burrow, then get on
13:45board and be optimistic about T Higgins too. At the beginning of the fourth round, potential wide receiver one.
13:50Debra, you go with Javante Williams here in the fourth round.
13:53I thought about him. Was that a one where you feel like you're getting a pretty good value here?
13:58Does it seem like just right about where he should be?
14:01Combination of good value. And I don't want anything to do with Brees and Jacobs right now, like versus Javante in drafts.

14:28So, yes, it's a combination of value plus, like, when I'm staring at Brees Hall, Josh Jacobs, Travis Echian, and I don't
14:34really, like, have a lot of interest in any of those guys right now.
14:38Like, Brees Hall, the most out of any of them.
14:40But the groin injury makes things a little bit more dicey.
14:43Yeah, Javante sticks out like a sore thumb. Fitz, what do you think about ranking Brees Hall right now?
14:49I mean, Debro just mentioned him, but obviously some uncertainty with the groin stuff that popped up just this morning.
14:54What round feels appropriate for him in your opinion?
14:57He just goes right now, by the way, at the 410.
15:00Yeah, mid-fourth, I think, is fair. Like, I don't think it's safe to assume he's going to miss any time yet, and
15:06he might be totally okay for week one. Like, it's unfortunate timing.
15:09It's definitely going to throw a scare into people as we hit draft season, and you've got Brees Hall already kind of
15:15hamstringed by a potentially limited offense, and now he's got this injury.
15:18So, I get it, but for the talent, I think mid-fourth is a reasonable – the risk-reward proposition I think makes sense in the mid-fourth.
15:25I'm on the clock here with my second one.
15:28I took Roman Doonesday with one of the picks.
15:30Obviously, Fitz, you just took Luther Burden, so a couple spots apart on the Bears receivers there.
15:35Kind of torn on the next one. I'll just take DJ Moore.
15:38Don't feel great about it. Didn't love a lot of the options.
15:42I considered May just as the last of, like, the elite quarterbacks, but I really wanted to wait on quarterback in this
15:48draft, so I passed on him there. I've got four receivers in my first five picks here.
15:52Fitz, I guess I'll kind of just throw it back to you again in terms of the injury stuff.
15:58Like, I just asked you about Brees Hall. You just took Luther Burden, who has his own kind of injury stuff going on.
16:04Clearly, you still think middle of the fourth is an okay range for him.
16:08Yeah, I'm still excited about the upside of an electric, twitchy slot receiver in a Ben Johnson offense for a team that
16:14has a defense that is probably going to force them into track meets week after week this season.
16:19So, yeah, I think Burden should be good to go.
16:22I'm kind of glad his injury happened when it happened, and I know it pulled a little bit of helium out of the balloon.
16:28Luther Burden, everyone seems to be on in the fantasy community.
16:31But hopefully this will slow the rise of the ADP a little bit, and you can get him at decent value.
16:37Well, you jump past the one, right? Like, we skipped right past Jeremiah Love.
16:41I don't know if Bunting didn't get the news, but that was a big injury that he went way early, like almost around a half ago already.
16:48Yeah, he went at the 402 just after your two picks, Jake.
16:52Obviously, like, with the high ankle sprain stuff there, like, Jake, do you have a timeline in your head of when you think he might be contributing?
16:59I mean, it's just especially hard to – I know he's really talented and, like, a running back.
17:04Maybe it's easier to adjust, but you just – a rookie, like, learning, pass blocking assignments, and just everything that comes with being thrown into the NFL.
17:11Just a real bummer. We also have the head coach candidate for earliest, I'm the stupidest coach in the NFL, going from,
17:18we're going to do a complete committee because he's a rookie, and then we go to, I'm going to give him 14 touches because he's a rookie.
17:25So anyway, it really comes down to – you said it's high ankle sprains.
17:29And so we know the timetable is four to six weeks.
17:32That's optimistic. We've seen running backs like Saquon Barkley come back from high ankle sprains and not look the same for the rest of the season.
17:39So I'm not taking him after – I'm outside my top 25 running backs now, and that's just really what comes down
17:45to is there's names in front of them that – even DeAndre Swift.
17:49I know nobody wants DeAndre Swift, but I know what I'm getting.
17:52Yeah, and you don't have to wait four to six weeks, which the other part of it too is – this is
17:58coming from somebody who's a Notre Dame fan. I love the talent of Love, and I think he could be an RB1,
18:04but we just did a great running back and a terrible offense with Gentey last year who was RB17 in points per game.
18:10And now we have the Love situation, and they don't have to force him the ball when he comes back because they have Tyler Algier.
18:17Like I'm not saying Tyler Algier should be taking touches from Love, but we don't even have to force him back until like, hey, he's back.
18:25We're a competitor. We want to give him 100 percent of the workload we plan to give him.
18:29So do we even get Love until week eight or nine of the Love that we wanted?

18:59I'm willing to punt it, and I look at like Parker Washington versus somebody like Carnell Tate, which Cam Ward did not look great.
19:06I'm not willing to bury him as much as most, given the context of the tape in week one for the preseason.
19:12I think there is some context to be had with everybody just posting stuff and being like, oh, my gosh, Cam Ward, what are you doing?
19:19And not really watching the all 22. But Dyson threw hairs here.

21:09Did that just feel like too good of a value for a Tier 1 quarterback, or were you planning to take a quarterback in this range?
21:16I just really wanted to say, it's gonna be May.

21:22Like, May at 6'1"? Like, this just feels kind of crazy to me.
21:25And also, the part of it was how the board fell.
21:28So, Judkins was the last of what I thought was a potential top 20 running back still sitting there with that volume and that offense.
21:35And we saw Tate, Parker Washington, other wide receivers go, which, like, I'm looking at all the wide receivers.
21:40I'm like, is there really that big a difference between wide receivers now and two rounds from now?
21:45So, that's why it was May. I think that if you look at it, we just had him have his QB2 performance, everything we thought it could be.
21:53And he gets A.J. Brown and Romeo Dobbs, who's the two, by the way, better than anything he had as the one last year.
22:00And he's still gonna run. And people are like, eh, I don't know if I want May.
22:04Like, I'll take May in the sixth every time I can.
22:07Yeah. Yeah, that just feels like real value. Also, tons of running backs going off the board here.
22:122, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 of the last 16 picks are running backs.
22:17Oh, this is gonna be perfect for my wide receivers.
22:20This is a good call. This is not good for me as I was so receiver heavy early.
22:25I was counting on some of these guys getting back to me.
22:29Fitz, you take the last of that group of running backs.
22:32Is that just like you're trying to catch on before they're all go?
22:35Or was Warren somebody that you really like in the mid-sixth?
22:38Big teardrop off for me after Warren. And I was heartbroken that Travion Henderson went right in front of me.
22:44Like, I can't believe he lasted that late. I just think the upside is such that if Ramondre continues to have an
22:50edge in touches in this backfield, like Henderson is a mid-sixth, there's gonna be like a small value loss in drafts.
22:56But man, the potential, he could be such a massive win for you if he ends up getting more carries this year
23:02than Ramondre Stevenson, which I kind of think is gonna happen.
23:05He's just a more explosive player. And I feel like the backfield takeover is imminent.
23:09Would Brooks have been your pick if he was there too?
23:12I've still got Warren ahead of Brooks, just barely.
23:14Hmm. Okay. Brooks would have been my pick if he got back to me.
23:18Obviously, it didn't happen. Goes in the middle of the sixth.
23:21Jake, what do you think about that landing spot for Brooks in terms of mid-sixth round pick?
23:26Does that feel like where he belongs at this point?
23:29It does for me. And I would take him over Tony Pollard.
23:32I know Debro's been different on the Pollard than I have.
23:35We're on different pages than that. I would take him over Price, and I'm a big fan of Price.
23:40It really just comes down to the fact that we were looking for the door to be open for Brooks to be
23:46the talent that we thought he could be out of Texas.
23:49And that was without an injury. We all thought it could happen.
23:53And then the injury happens. And we're probably not seeing Hubbard until week one, if by then.
23:57Brooks has every opportunity. I know some people watch that game and are like, oh, Brooks didn't look as explosive as we remember.
24:04However, you're telling me the dude coming off these injuries might be a little bit hesitant to just go full bore in
24:10his first action on the field since he's had these two injuries.
24:13So I'm not that worried about just one game overreaction, which seems to be what we should be doing anyway.
24:19It's one week. I know I said that earlier, my overreaction on Tua, but I think that one's a little bit different.
24:25I'm still in on Brooks, basically. Debro, you clearly do have Pollard over Brooks and Henderson and Warren because you took him over those guys.
24:31Is there a gap there for you or he's just at the top of a cluster?
24:36There's a gap. But the other thing I wanted to see where Brooks went in this draft, like if he did go
24:42the back end of the sixth or the top of the seventh.
24:45So I was comfortable like seeing if I could get him in the seventh round just depending on how the draft felt.
24:51But again, I don't want to overreact to I know people are going to look at the Tajay Spears and Tony Pollard usage in week one of preseason.
24:59Look at the history of Brian Dayball as an offensive coordinator and head coach.
25:03He leans on one running back. This is not going to be a committee backfield.
25:07So I'm not worried about that right now. Fitz, do you have a favorite start that anybody has?
25:12And obviously, we're like six and a half rounds in.
25:15So you don't look at every single name. But the first few picks, I usually ask this a little bit earlier.
25:21But three to five picks. Is there sort of an early core that you really like what somebody's done so far in this draft?
25:27I like Jake's start from the back end with Chase, AJB.
25:30Getting Kyron at 312 just feels like such a steal.
25:33And then Tee Higgins early fourth. I feel like Jake is maybe off to a pretty fast start.
25:38Debro, anybody looks good to your eyes in terms of a start?
25:41I think whoever's drafted from the 102. I don't know if that's a bot or one of our Discord members.
25:47The Gibbs, Barkley start, then Josh Allen. I really like what they did to go back and all the wide receivers going Mike Evans, Christian Watson, Chris Godwin.
25:54That's a pretty solid top three considering they started with two running backs and a quarterback.
25:59Yeah, that's a good receiving group considering the start to your point.
26:02I like T-Rex Arms, CeeDee Lamb, O'Marion Hampton, Garrett Wilson, Colson Loveland, Carnell Tate, Janarian Price as the first six picks I'm on board with.
26:09I actually really like Gilbert, I guess is the name from the 109.
26:13Jonathan Taylor, Ashton Gentty, Ted Rowe McMillan, Terry McLaurin, David Montgomery, Marvin Harrison Jr.
26:17Jalen Hurts as the first seven picks. I really like that.

26:24Sutton and Metcalf. Any teams besides your own that you really like?
26:27Like, I actually like when I made that joke about Fitz saying his own, I actually, I like his team.
26:33I like the fact of Warren is his third running back.
26:36Burden is your third wide receiver, which, you know, two weeks ago, Burden was most people's second wide receiver.
26:41And then Fannin's one of my favorite mid-round tight end targets.
26:44I think he could lead the Browns in targets, even though quarterback play is garbage.
26:48But to go back to my, like, I just love how that felt.
26:52Definitely came down to the wide receivers kind of falling down the board and a lot of running backs going.
26:57But when I was sitting there with Judkins May, the wide receivers I was talking about of seeing not a big difference
27:03between like Downs and a Hurt Tyson and Quinton Johnston versus Sutton and Metcalf, who I'll take as my three and four
27:09every single time when I don't have to plug them in as my top two after already having three running backs yet.
27:15Like, not to like laud my own team, but I kind of just love, like, I don't think this is the 12.
27:21Like, you're going to, you're not going to have this kind of fall happen every single draft.
27:26It's just, you kind of have to sit there and hopefully let it happen.
27:30And it did. It just happened to fall the right way.
27:33Fitz, obviously Jake just mentioned your Fannin pick. I took Tucker Craft a few spots before you took Fannin.
27:38As the Packers guy, would you have taken Craft if he was there?
27:42Or do you prefer Fannin? I am really torn in that tier with Craft, Fannin, Pitts, Laporta.
27:46Right now I've got Craft just ahead of Fannin, but I'm wondering about that because Craft himself was just talking about how
27:52he might have a snap somewhat limited for the first half of the regular season.
27:57So I might have to move him down and move up Fannin.
28:00I get excited listening to the Athletic Football Podcast the other day.
28:03Jake's outfit, you know, Robert Mays going on tour talking to the beat writers.
28:07And it sounds like in Cleveland, like they're just over the moon with Harold Fannin.
28:11And like, I think he's just a special player.
28:14And I tend to believe it. After the final college season, he had leading FBS in receptions and receiving yardage and then
28:20going and just basically dislodging David Njoku in Cleveland in his first year and having a fantastic season.
28:25I think Fannin's pretty special. Yeah, it's just the offense, right?
28:28That's all the question that there is when thinking about him.
28:31But as a player, what he did at his age and as a rookie in what was also a poor offense a
28:37year ago, I think you just get really excited about the upside there.
28:40So yeah, I was sort of torn too. I just, I love Craft the player so much that I want to buy
28:47into the injury optimism and, you know, the return.
28:49And the way he was playing when he was healthy last year makes the last pick of the sixth round of steel for this draft, right?
28:56Like, I mean, he was awesome last year. So not saying that he'll get back to that level immediately, but trying to be optimistic here on that one.
29:04Debro, you obviously took one of those tight ends that we're talking about as well in Laporta.
29:09Where does he fit into that tier for you?
29:11With the craft news, I did push Sam Laporta over Tucker Craft and rankings.
29:15And this is not like, I don't think Tucker Craft is going to be just crushed by this rep stuff because I
29:21think he's still going to see a really high target per route run rate, a high design target rate, which is going
29:27to kind of counteract some of that. But to get Sam Laporta at real time ADP right now, tight end 5, 62nd
29:33overall in the eighth round, I looked at as a, just a massive value.
29:37Jake, you are the only one of us who doesn't have a tight end yet.
29:41Was that intentional? Are you trying to go late tight end in your drafts?
29:45No, again, this is the 12th pick and how the board kind of fell.
29:49And the fact that I did go early-ish quarterback at the 5, 6 turn, as we mentioned earlier, that steered me a
29:55little bit away from going tight end again, more so because I wanted to shore up my third and fourth wide receiver versus what was there.
30:02You know, hindsight, this is what it's looking at.
30:05Would I love to have a Pitts or a Laporta or whatever, but Pitts went right before me.
30:10Laporta is off the board, as you just talked about, the D-bro.
30:13There's still some names there, which I think I might be able to get the one that I really want to get.
30:19Well, assuming nobody else, I'll just say, assuming nobody doubles up on tight end already.
30:23Like, I just love getting George Kittle because I'll figure out the first two weeks if he's not 100% until week three.
30:29Like, that's something where if Kittle was 100% at the start of the season, especially with the loss of Ricky Pearsall, we're
30:35talking about a top three finish again for George Kittle.
30:38So to get him what is going to be now the 9-10 turn, that's another that I'll do every single time and
30:44figure out my tight end early in the season somewhere else.
30:47Unless somebody doubles up at tight end. Let's make sure he actually gets to your first.
30:51They're not listening, so I can't. Yeah. So fortunately.
30:54Figuring out tight end for Jake might just be grabbing Jake Tonjes for the first couple of weeks if Kittle's going to be out.
31:01Yeah. True. Not a huge difference from some of these other guys.
31:04And I was just kind of leaning to the late round quarterback here.
31:07Did you feel like Dak was a bit of a tear break for you?
31:11Yeah. I mean, a guy in a terrific offense with very little turnover in personnel, solid offensive line, and just that dynamic
31:17duo at receiver with CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.
31:20I felt a little more excited about Dak than anyone else left at quarterback.
31:24Yeah. And D-Ro, were you going to take Jalen Coker if he got to?
31:28Yeah. I knew Jake and I were going to be fighting over him as soon as Jake, like I switched over to
31:34StreamYard and I was like off the board. I was like, I know.
31:37I see you, Jake. I see you. He didn't want to get sniped on Coker again this draft.
31:42No, I was able to snipe you back after the last one.
31:45Like, honestly, like I will say this. If Coker had gone, if you had taken him instead of Gainwell, and then how
31:52things I like, I have a feeling he's going to go.
31:55And he's, there's no way he's making all the way back to the 11, 12.
31:59So I don't even have to worry about you guys stealing it.
32:02But Tyler Algier at this point, given what we said about love earlier.
32:06Yeah, that's a good call. That's somebody, especially like, this is one where like, I don't really like to hammer handcuffs, but
32:12if you want to love and then take Algier to cover until love comes back, or you're taking a flyer on some
32:18other position where maybe they're banged up to start the year and you're worried about that.
32:22Like Algier is the first perfect first two, three, four weeks of then like, Hey, then I can wait on a rookie
32:28or then I can wait on this injury just to fill in.
32:32Um, Debra, you go with one of your favorites, Casey Concepcion here with your next pick.
32:36Yeah. Everybody learning in real time that he can catch the ball.
32:39He is credibly in town. He's incredibly talented and he's going to get some rushing production in this offense.
32:44I mean, we just saw him being a dog out there.
32:47So I've said it throughout the entirety of the draft season.
32:51He has been drafted way too late. Like people aren't worried about like, I know, and this is no shade to Fitzy.
32:57Like, but we were talking about Harold Vann earlier.
32:59People are willing to draft him aggressively and believe in the talent, but then you got Casey Concepcion and Boston falling down, down the draft board.
33:06And it's like, they all still have the same quarterback play.
33:09Uh, I'll take the wide receiver values. Fitzy go with Jaden Higgins here.
33:13Another favorite from a lot of the folks on this show.
33:16Yeah. Yeah. The buzz around him has been pretty good and it's not just the coaches.
33:20It was Nico Collins talking about how he thinks the sky is the limit for Higgins and how he could be a
33:26guy who's like potentially, uh, one of the, the iconic players in the league.
33:30I mean, immense physical tools with his size and, and speed combination, pretty rare stuff.
33:34And like the clear number two in Houston, it's just a question of how much they're going to throw.
33:40I mean, I think we do expect them to have one of the higher running rates in the league with that elite
33:46defense and maybe trying to hide CJ Stroud, their quarterback just a little bit, but potential for a big breakout for Jaden Higgins in year two.
33:53You know who else loves him? Steve Smith. So Steve Smith, he's talking to him.
33:57Yeah. Doing it. And that's like coming from somebody that's like, Hey, if you don't believe I was a big Jaden Higgins
34:03guy, I actually think, uh, so Dane Brugler, my cohort, the draft cohort over at the athletic that definitely knows scouting better than me.
34:10I will say compared them to Nico Collins. I thought that was lofty.
34:13I compared him to Marvin Jones, but even Marvin Jones, thousand, 1100 yards, six, seven, eight touchdowns.
34:18We're talking about a wide receiver three. Tyler Algier does go with the 10, 10 there, Jake.
34:23So as you mentioned, was not going to get back all the way around.
34:26No, uh, I've been with a couple of rookies, just the opportunity for Dijon Stribbling.
34:31You know, I don't love the player, but I figure late 10th, you know, he's my wide receiver five, the opportunity in
34:37what should be a pretty good offense. And then Jonah Coleman, you know, I took RJ Harvey already.
34:42I'm kind of taking my shot at having whoever it is that you want to have in that backfield when JK Dobbins
34:48is hurt, which, you know, we obviously are very used to seeing.
34:51So I'm not sure if it's Harvey or Coleman, I like both players in their own ways, but, um, I think Coleman in the 11th is a pick.
34:59I'm going to be really happy to make it every time.
35:02Can I jump in on Stribbling real quick for everybody out there?
35:05Please do not draft Stribbling. If you're going to drop them after week two, like you're not drafting Stribbling to start this year.
35:11He is behind Mike Evans, Debo Samuel, George Kittle, CMC.
35:14Like he's fighting for fifth right now. Like you're drafting on the upside because this might be the most fractured, fragile offense
35:20offense in the entire league where it's going to take one, maybe even two injuries.
35:24So don't draft these like same thing with your handcuffs.
35:27Don't draft these guys and then immediately drop them a week two.
35:30That's not why you're drafting them. I would say that too, not just the handcuffs, but I would say that for like almost all rookie receivers, right?
35:38These guys tend to be really good bets in the second half of the season.
35:42So even some of the other, like Debro taking Casey Concepcion, Denzel Boston just goes one pick before Debro here on the, on the way back.
35:49Like those types of play, Makai Lemon in the ninth, not he's a first rounder, so probably that wouldn't have happened anyway,
35:55but like, I think it's a great point for really all the rookie receivers is you're, you're drafting them for, you know, late October and beyond.
36:02It's not for right now. And we have our first kicker off.
36:06There's the first kicker breaking the glass. Jake gets sniped on Brandon.

36:30Yeah. Josh Jacobs has an knee injury. We'll see when we see him on the field.
36:34And I mean, the, the volume is kind of taking a toll, man.
36:38Like he was a shell of himself last year to finish the season.
36:42Lloyd looked explosive, some vision concerns in his first game back, but I think that's more just knocking the rust off.
36:47So at this point in the draft, yeah, I'll happily take Lloyd.
36:51By the way, Jake, since you couldn't take Aubrey, you go with a couple of running backs here and Keaton Mitchell and Braylon Allen.
36:57Do you think Mitchell, like, is that just, you're viewing him as more of a handcuff situation or do you think there's
37:03real upside just given the fit in the offense?
37:06And are you buying into McDaniels comments that there, you know, might be more of a committee?
37:11Yes, no, yes. I think, wait, I'm trying to track over there because there's a lot of questions in there.
37:16So Keaton Mitchell is somebody that I have on a lot of rosters so far to go the McDaniel thing.
37:22Yes, I believe him. No, I'm not afraid when it comes to Marion Hampton because I wasn't afraid when we saw, oh,
37:28by the way, two RB1s on his same team with split workload that everybody's concerned.
37:32Like Hampton's still a great pick, but so is Mitchell because he could potentially have standalone value.
37:36But no, I don't actually think he'll be like the clear lead if something were to happen to Hampton.
37:42I actually do think of Vidal and him with split kind of more like a stealer scenario.
37:46So, but that being said, that's still even better RB3 value potentially.
37:50So that's really why Mitchell has been a lot of my picks in the 11th, 12th round.
37:54And then Braylon Allen is just simply because of the Brees Hall injury.
37:58It was already one of the better backup options to roster.
38:01And I'm an Isaiah Davis fan, but I don't really think Isaiah Davis is going to be more than a timeshare if
38:07we do get time missed by Brees Hall. So it's just, that was the target there.
38:11D-Bro, I, you and I were the last two to take a quarterback.
38:15I haven't taken one yet, but I knew that you were, I don't really like Dart as much as you.
38:21So I knew that I could continue to wait because I knew that that would be your guy.
38:26I mean, rushing upside and the guy that, uh, like basically you take out the Minnesota game where he scored one fantasy
38:32point and he was scoring more points per game last year than Josh Allen.
38:35Yeah. The 12th round. Uh, yeah. I'll like Jackson.
38:38I totally get the upside, but I mean, he, what is it?
38:4145% of his career games. He's gone into the blue tent.
38:4443%. Yeah. This just like, that scares me. I mean, unfortunately he can't pass block for himself.
38:49Tyrone Tracy whipping and then him getting crushed in the preseason.
38:52What is it? Wasn't his fault. So you saw that.
38:55I think that was either an audible or something like that seemed like a missed assignment because he wasn't even, he didn't
39:01even check over there to see that Tracy was going to grab the guy.
39:05Like, I don't feel like that was, I mean, Tracy missed a block to be clear.
39:09Like he called him. I mean, Tracy whiffed bad.
39:12A hundred percent. But I feel like I watched it a couple of times.
39:15I don't feel like Tracy was even in the right spot for that.
39:19Like something seemed all for that entire play. Yeah, that's fair.
39:22But, um, to the point of, I think the coaching staff is also kind of telling us, Tyrone Tracy on thin ice, uh, Najee Harris visiting the team.
39:30Oh, Najee. Well, I think that's more also Devin Singletary got dingles that dingle, singletary, Devin single dingle, dingle, berry left in the second quarter.
39:37With all the starters. Like I'm worried about Scadaboo at this point, like his workload.
39:41You should be, you should be. I mean, day three running back, new coaching staff.
39:45Everybody just automatically assumes he's the clear RB one bell cow.
39:48And it's like, this team doesn't have any allegiances to Cam Scadaboo between his back flips and Tyrone Tracy blowing past bro.
39:54Um, yeah, it makes a lot of sense where they're working at running backs.
39:58By the way, we have the first defense off the board as well.
40:01It is the Texans here in late round 12.
40:04I assume Jake, like I have known your stance on kickers for a while.
40:08I assume similar thoughts on defense in terms of just like you're waiting to the last round regardless.
40:13Or is there ever a situation where you're willing to reach a route or two late to get one?
40:18No, I'm not going to reach mostly because I reference this a lot.
40:22I think I said at the Debra before the show a couple of days ago or last week or whatever it was.
40:28But the last defense to finish number one in fantasy back-to-back years was the Steelers in 2000 and 2001.
40:33Now there's been defenses that have finished top five in back-to-back seasons, but just kind of throwing out like how, you know,
40:39we, we see the fluctuation within seasons, let alone years.
40:42And I get it. And if like the Texans, you want to take them in the 15th or late 14th to make
40:48sure you got them or the Seahawks, I could understand that, but I'm more of the one that will target.
40:53I'm looking at the first two or three weeks, find me a team that has a real soft first two or three weeks.
41:00And that's who I'll go for because a lot of times we don't even know who the good defenses are until weeks five and six.
41:07Yeah, I totally agree that that's very usually my approach as well.
41:10Fitz, you've taken a couple of receivers with the last two picks, Xavier Worthy and Dontavian Wicks.
41:15That Wicks pick is good, Fitzy. I'm not going to lie.
41:18You sniped me on that. Did I? Yeah. Wicks, especially with Makai Lemon banged up and Wicks is an interesting player.
41:23Like he's had troubles at the catch points, but he is a really good route runner who I know Matt LaFleur has compared to Devante Adams.
41:31And Adams was another guy who kind of had issues with his hands early in his career, got rid of those issues and became a superstar.
41:38Maybe there's a pathway for Wicks to do the same.
41:40And really, he's like the only pure kind of big outside receiver the Eagles have.
41:45And, you know, that's where Jalen Hurts has had some success throwing outside.
41:48Like he we think he can throw over the middle, but he hasn't done a lot of it.
41:53So and then Xavier Worthy, I just wish his shoulder wasn't banged up again.
41:57That's kind of unfortunate. But he's a guy who did flash in his rookie year after the Rasheed Rice injury.
42:03Then last year was kind of a washout for him after he hurt his shoulder early on.
42:07And I'm hoping for a bounce back. But, you know, more shoulder issues for a pretty slightly built guy concerning.
42:13No question. Debro, I want to get your opinion on Purdy, who you took here to pair with Dart.
42:18Obviously, it's kind of go for some more safety paired with the, you know, sort of volatility of Dart.
42:23Where are you ranking Purdy this year just with all the injuries to the receiving room so far that we've seen in San Francisco?
42:30I mean, Mike Evans already back in practice. Debo is healthy right now, so I'm not worried about it too much.
42:36I've got Purdy at QB 10. I think he's locked in top 12 guy.
42:39It's where he's finished basically every single year over the last few and points per game.
42:44So, yeah, combination of ceiling and floor and Jake, you suck.
42:47That was a good pick. Which one? Mike Washington.
42:49Yeah. I also wanted to ask Worm. Did you mean to grab Mike Washington or Malik with?
42:54No, I have just always been a big fan of Malik.
42:57And I feel like I know he had a great, like Caleb Douglas had a great catch.
43:02Obviously, Jake just took him in the preseason game.
43:04I still am just taking a swing on Washington being the lead target earner in this offense throughout the course of the
43:10season because I believe in the player and there's like so much uncertainty there.
43:14And this is PPR and that was kind of his thing when he was, you know, like sort of used in that ideal way in college.
43:21So, no. But I did look at Mike Washington when I made the pick.
43:25And when he made that pick, I was like, oh, I could have gone back to back Washington's at my turn.
43:31But no, I did consider Mike. I did intentionally.
43:33I just took him because it's legitimate. What is today's date?
43:37The 17th. And I'm like, if we see an injury to Gentee tomorrow, like that's really all it comes down to.
43:42Clear, clear workhorse in that backfield. For sure. If anything happens to Gentee, Washington's going to freaking eat.
43:47Yeah. So, a great handcuff target at this point in the draft for sure.
43:51And then Caleb Douglas, Jake being your other pick there.
43:54Do you think he's wide receiver one in Miami?
43:56Are you buying the preseason hype? What do you make of that receiving room?
44:00So, if you go all the way back to the show that we did like right after the draft, I think Debra was on that one.
44:07I was with Fitz or maybe both of you.
44:10I don't remember. I made the point at that time.
44:13I was like, look, I wasn't the biggest Caleb Douglas fan.
44:16The entire draft community, nobody thought he was going that early in the draft.
44:20But the Dolphins took him. The Dolphins took him before the better talent, which we know is her and Chris Bell.
44:25But there's been talk since then and since now that he could be the number one.
44:30And just taking the chance that Malik Willis is going to support at least one wide receiver if Douglas is the number one, similar to the Washington argument.
44:37It was Tolbert seemingly like three or four weeks ago.
44:40He got a little bit of buzz for a run there, but it's come back to Douglas.
44:45It just comes down to the opportunity of being the one on that team.
44:49And then, you know, at the end of the year, but he's a, I'll say there's two things.
44:54He's won the, at the last pick of the 13th round, the Dolphins and Raiders answer might be nobody outside of Brock Bowers.
45:00Like the answer might be nobody at wide receiver.
45:03And that's okay. Cause it's only a 13th rounder.
45:05I did. I did take bash here in terms of the receivers in Vegas on the other side of it here.
45:11Since just, I was thinking about you taking Washington there too.
45:14What do you think about that? Best pick Debra?
45:16I know he was a player that you liked previously, obviously didn't do anything as a rookie.
45:21I liked him a lot as a prospect, man.
45:23Lost rookie season. Haven't heard a lot of great camp reports.
45:27Although I saw the touchdown in preseason. I'm kind of, you know, nailer.
45:30I'm just kind of avoiding the passing attack, but I mean, I don't hate like this late to take a shot on Bish.
45:36Worm, you passed on Jacoby Lane, who's lighting it up in Baltimore training camp.
45:40I know. I mean, I thought he was going to be, you know, collect them all, but with the Ravens, but I guess not.
45:47I mean, listen, it's been super fun. I hope they hit on a mid-round receiver for the first time basically ever in
45:53Baltimore, but I need to see it happen against actual defenses.
45:56And training camp is designed for him to excel, like with his skill set.
46:00And I don't know that he's going to be getting open too often at the NFL level.
46:05I hope I'm wrong. You're not buying into the beat writer reports as one of the best wide receivers they've ever seen in history of like training camps?
46:12I mean, I don't know. I put some stock.
46:15I don't put a lot of stock in that.
46:17I do put some. These are like generally measured guys who are covering the team who are like talking very, speaking very highly.
46:24But I think it's worth remembering that like the Ravens haven't had that many great receivers to kind of compare against it.
46:30So was that for me, Jake? Was your frustration for me?
46:33Yeah. Yeah. So for everybody out there that doesn't know, the Chargers get the Cardinals and the Raiders at home in the first two weeks.
46:40Yes, they do. So there's your answer of what you want in defense.
46:43Yes. I went with the Packers getting the Vikings and Jets.
46:46I felt like it was a pretty good start as well.
46:49Yeah. But it's the Chargers who was already the son of them.
46:53I also don't know how much I trust the Chargers losing.
46:56I thought Jesse Minter covered a lot of weaknesses roster wise on that defense.
46:59I wonder if they might be not very good.
47:02But the Cardinals week one will help a lot of the Rams.
47:05So, you know. Oh, I guess Jaguars get the Browns.
47:08Yeah. There we go. Deshaun Watson. Ha! I don't have to take a kicker.

47:16I mean, to be fair, if I – you know, I'm drafting a kicker here.
47:20But if I didn't have to in any league, like know your league settings.

47:27I would definitely – we would all, I think, advise if you can avoid it, avoid it.
47:32And to be fair, I also would have not stashed Patrick Mahomes behind Drake May.
47:36I would have stashed another running back or wide receiver or even a second defense at that point because you have plenty
47:42of time to go pick up your kicker before week one.
47:45But I would have taken another flyer at running back or wide receiver.
47:49I didn't think it was going to let me do it.
47:52I just wanted to make the noise. And then I was surprised it let me.
47:56We always take a look at the draft analyzer at the end of these episodes.
48:00I wonder what it's going to – if it's going to show you like lesser because you're getting zeros from that roster
48:06spot each week based on the projection. We'll see.

48:15It's an industry league where I won without playing a kicker the entire year because I went into Monday Night Football with

49:40You know what the best thing is? I don't have a kicker and it ranked me 11th, not even 12th.

50:23Let's take a look at some of these expert opinions here.
50:27None of you guys loved or hated my draft based on the system here, so I can't point to any of you guys here.
50:33Fitz, how's your team looking based on the analyzer?
50:36Yeah, a B. So deemed to be maybe a little below average at quarterback and running back.
50:40And I kind of like my running backs. I thought Josh Jacobs is okay value there.
50:45Like, I don't think this knee issue is that big a deal.
50:48I think if we were going to see any sort of charges against him or league discipline, like, we would have had movement on it.
50:55But now, I don't think there's going to be league discipline short of charges.
50:59And this is a guy who scored basically a touchdown a game for the Packers over the last two years since he joined the team.
51:06So, yeah, getting him in the fifth, not the fourth.
51:08I like that value. So, yeah, I'm okay with this team.
51:11Didn't love it. There were a couple times I sort of got sniped.
51:15But I kind of wanted to take on a challenging draft position.
51:18And I think the five hole is one of the more challenging spots in the first round.
51:23Interestingly, I'm looking at my pick analysis. And four of my first five picks were receiver.
51:27And the thing that it says could have made my team even better is if I had taken a receiver in the
51:34second round as well and made that fourth pick a running back.
51:37So, that's surprising. It's saying I should have taken Rasheed Rice at the 2-12 and then Josh Jacobs at the 4-12 as opposed to Henry and Adunze.
51:44So, that would have made me even more. So, it still would have been four of the first five.
51:49But it would have made me even more heavily weighted on the receiver side than I was.
51:54I do see a real gap between Henry and Jacobs.
51:57So, I'm comfortable with the decision that I made there in that regard.
52:01But yeah, that was the number one pick analysis for me, which just kind of made me laugh given how much I went into receivers anyway.
52:08Debro, how's your team looking? I like this team a lot more.
52:11I mean, I gave myself a 99. Chris Welsh, shout out to Welshie, gave me an 84.
52:16Jeff Lambert gave me a 63. So, Lambert, we're going to have to have some words after the show.
52:21Pick analysis tells me I would have gained 35 points if I would have taken Aaron Jones and Xavier Worthy over Casey Concepcion and Marshawn Lloyd.
52:28Yeah, I'm fine with the Casey side. I don't know where you guys sit.
52:32Well, it's a bit of an upside play too, right?
52:35Compared to like an Aaron Jones. Aaron Jones, I have no faith in staying healthy.
52:39Xavier Worthy at this point, no. I'm good. Jake, how's your team looking?
52:42It's a team that I probably would come out with a lot of times.
52:46We've talked about a lot of the picks throughout it.
52:49And if you look at just the draft board in general, from my starters to my bench, it's a team that I'm
52:55going to develop in a lot of places, especially if I'm picking this late.
52:59Between Chase Brown and Kyron Lewis, which by the way, it suggested a lot for my biggest jump being switching Chase Brown to Drake London.
53:06And then instead of taking – who was it later?
53:09It was somebody later. Oh, Caleb Douglas. Instead of taking that to go that situation and swap out Caleb Douglas for somebody else.
53:15And I was like, yeah, but that was a flyer at that point.
53:19We talked about the Drake London, but I still have A.J.
53:22Brown, T. Higgins, D.K. Metcalf. Not the best third wide receiver, but between Sutton and Metcalf being able to play one of
53:28those, which it rates out Juggins as the best flex in the league, which I would probably agree with, at least on my aspect.
53:34I think that Juggins is top 20. It's a team I like.
53:38I got dinged because of Kittle, which, again, I'll play that game.
53:41It would go back to that flyer within the homestake.
53:44I would have filled that in with the tight end potentially.
53:47Yeah. Jokes aside about the kicker and all that type of stuff, but I would have made up for that.
53:52But to have Coker, Mitchell, Allen, like those kind of flyers on the bench, we talk about it a lot.
53:58I think the biggest mistake – I have the article of The Athletic.
54:01It's like some of the biggest mistakes people make in fantasy.
54:04One of the biggest mistakes is not maximizing your bench potential.
54:07Like every single player on your bench can't be just pure upside.
54:11But like once you get one or two guys, your other three or four need to be, how can blank player be
54:17top 25, top 30 in his position? And if the answer is it's never going to happen, then don't worry about drafting
54:23them because all those other guys are on the waiver every single week.
54:26Can I hit Jake with a quick question about his strategy from the turn?
54:30I'm just curious, Jake. Like what – in a league where you have to start three receivers like this one, are you
54:36pretty set on taking one running back, one wide receiver at the turn?
54:40Or are you flexible depending on who's there? Like would you consider going RBRB?
54:44I would be flexible either direction. I could see going – like if Jonathan Taylor had made it, I would have probably
54:50went Taylor Brown mostly because as much as I like Hampton, Jake D.
54:53Chase Brown, not A.J. Brown. Yes, correct. I would have double tapped running back.
54:57If Chase Brown goes in front of me and somehow – I don't know, like Jefferson makes it back to me and then I go Jefferson, A.J.
55:05Brown. Or like I said, if we knew that Penix was starting, I would consider London in there.
55:10I could see it going either way. The bigger thing to your question, Fitz, and I think you guys all know this,
55:16is it comes down to trying to predict more once you get into those five, six, seven, eighth rounds where it's like,
55:22all right, now I got to start preparing for potential runs.
55:25And that's why when we were talking about earlier focusing on like – that's why Judkins, like maybe Judkins, that was great value on Jacobs.
55:32But running backs were about to get blown up.
55:34There is no way – like I would have rather had a third wide receiver in a vacuum, but knowing what was
55:40going to happen to running back versus wide receiver at that point, that's more about trying to pick at the turn, just trying to predict those runs.
55:48I think you got really good value on Sutton as your wide receiver three.
55:52I think he's getting a little bit too much disrespect.
55:54Agreed. I would have taken him over Stefan Diggs, but I already made the investment in Jalen Waddell, so like I didn't
56:00want to double tap Broncos receivers, although like I'm not against it.
56:04But I look at both those guys in the same kind of area code.
56:08But again, like Sutton just – you can get them as your wide receiver four on teams.
56:12And like there's an easy scenario with the passing volume where Bo Nix supports two top 24 wide receivers this year.
56:18To Jake's point, I feel like I didn't do a very good job of anticipating those runs.
56:23That running back run and that like round five, six range really hurt me.
56:27I felt like I wish I had maybe gone a running – like taking Josh Jacobs instead of DJ Moore there at the turn.
56:33Yeah, but for your makeup, I mean you essentially went hero RB.
56:37And Stevenson as your flex isn't bad when you have four wide receivers, DJ Moore is your fourth wide receiver.
56:42Fifth and sixth round hurt you a lot though.
56:45Like I mean dude, that was a lot of freaking running backs.
56:48That was the round that hurt. I was anticipating getting one – in an ideal world, I was hoping to get two
56:54of that group of those 12 guys that win and hoping – but at least was going to get one.
56:59So for them to all go was what really hurt me and kind of had to pivot there.
57:04I think in hindsight, I would have wished I had gone Gibbs or Bijon instead of Chase first overall just given that
57:10I felt like there was more receivers available in those mid rounds.
57:14But again, I like Chase so much that I don't – like in a vacuum, I don't feel bad about making that decision at all.
57:21Yeah, but if you look at that too – or you don't go Chase.
57:24You go Gibbs or Bijon. You come back. Nico's already off the board.
57:28So your first two wide receivers, if you went wide receiver, wide receiver would be Neighbors, Rice, Flowers, Smith.
57:33You're already in that next tier down. So arguably, I don't know that it would have been that much better.
57:39That's fair. It's tough picking on the end. I always pick the end just because it's easier hosting the show.
57:44But I do think that as we've done more and more of these, I do find myself wishing I was picking in
57:50the middle more and can just be kind of like in the middle of these runs.
57:55The back end more than the front end. Yeah, I agree.
57:58I went into draft season anticipating that I would prefer an early pick in this year's drafts just given how much I like those first three names.
58:05But I do think the more I've done this, the more I prefer back end.
58:09Like I think that like 9, 10, 11 range, I think I've been really comfortable with.
58:14Almost always my favorite teams, and that's why I want to wrap up this conversation, are coming in that range.
58:19I already mentioned them earlier. But at the 109, Gilbert, Taylor, Gentty, Tedrow McMillan, Terry McLaurin, David Montgomery, Marvin Harrison Jr., Jalen Hurts.
58:26I didn't love Travis Kelsey. I wish they had taken Sam Laporta instead.
58:29But, you know, Jane Reed, Kamara Pacheco. Like I like the first half of that team a lot, and especially if they
58:35could have gotten Laporta instead of Kelsey too, I would have liked it even more.
58:39So I think that range tends to be where I'm really looking at my favorite teams in most drafts.
58:45Debro, do you have a favorite that stands out to you before we get out of here?
58:49Yeah, I mean that's why I love the 108 because I feel like I'm getting access to one of Christian McCaffrey, James Cook, Amon Ross, St.
58:57Brown. I can go back in the second round, and I've got like the flexibility where I could go A.J.
59:02Brown or I could go one of like Hampton, Kenneth Walker, Derrick Henry.
59:06Like there's a lot of flexibility of like you can go running back wide receiver.
59:10You can go running back running back. Like there's a lot of flexibility at that spot of the draft that I feel
59:16like at the 108 where I can still get access to like top three or four wide receiver and running back in
59:22the first round as well as like good running backs and wide receivers that I like in round two.
59:27I'll throw to Fitz, do you have a favorite team?
59:30The 106 team, by the way, I like a lot too.
59:33I didn't mention them really earlier. St. Brown, A-chan, Devonta Smith, Lamar, Travis A-chan.
59:37I like that start too. Yeah, it's probably Jake, but runner up, Bunting, our Discord user.
59:41I love how he opened with the power trio of Justin Jefferson, Drake London, Ladd McConkie at wide receiver.
59:46Then comes back, he gets Jeremiah Love, and I know there's risk there, but like getting Love in the fourth round now, I think it's fair.
59:54That's where he should go. And then he backed up Love with Bucky Irving and Bachel Tootin.
59:58So two really pretty good alternatives there who can sort of hold on the fourth if Love isn't ready to go at the beginning of the season.
60:06Still manages to get one of the big eight tight ends with Kyle Pitts and then gets Caleb Williams at quarterback.
60:12And like got some pretty decent backup running backs and wide receivers after that.
60:15So I kind of like what Bunting did out of the 11 hole.
60:19I really like that sweet spot of quarterbacks late seventh, early eighth.
60:22We saw Hurts, Caleb, Trevor, and Herbert all go.
60:25That is the spot I want to be taking my quarterback.
60:28I was really hoping Herbert would get back to me.
60:31Obviously when he didn't, I decided to just totally wait and get Kyler late.
60:34But yeah, that Hurts, Caleb, Trevor, Herbert range. I really like that sweet spot for quarter.
60:39Obviously May in the sixth is pretty nice too, Jake.
60:42Any favorite teams or final takeaways from you, Jake?
60:44Not to be like hugging and kissing with Fitz here, but like I would take his team.
60:49Oh yeah. I would take his team if it wasn't for mine.
60:52Like I just did Dak value somebody that could throw for 5,000 yards potentially in a given season.
60:57He stays healthy. Jacobs was his two, but you still have Warren in the flex if that doesn't come through.
61:03Like if there's a suspension. But the reason I say is like Warren doesn't sound the most appealing number two running back.
61:09But when Burden's your third wide receiver and then you still have Pittman, Higgins, and Worthy on the bench.
61:14Fannin, we talked about at the time. I really like that team.
