Player insights

31

A.J. Brown

NegativeValue52:38

Matthew Berry ranks AJ Brown as a high-end WR3 or low-end WR2 for the rest of the season, assuming he misses approximately six weeks. He suggests trading for him only if your roster is already deep at wide receiver.

Insight page

Brenton Strange

PositiveDepth Chart42:52

Matthew Berry notes that Brenton Strange is the starting tight end for a high-powered Jaguars offense and will see significant snap volume, making him a viable fantasy option given Trevor Lawrence's tendency to target the middle of the field.

Insight page

Caleb Douglas

NegativeBreakout41:44

Caleb Douglas led the Dolphins in receptions and receiving yards in Week 1 with an 86% route participation and 26% target share. Jake Seeley views him as a high-ceiling play, comparing his potential to a more effective version of Cedric Tillman, though he acknowledges the risk associated with the Dolphins' offense.

Insight page

Carson Wentz

PositiveMatchup40:43

Matthew Berry suggests Carson Wentz is a viable one-week streamer if Kyler Murray remains in concussion protocol, noting the Bears' defense allowed 360+ yards and three touchdowns to Bryce Young and play at a high pace that forces opponents to throw.

Insight page

Chris Bell

PositiveBreakout41:44

Matthew Berry and Jake Seeley agree that Chris Bell is the most talented rookie on the Dolphins and would have been a first-round pick if not for injury. He is expected to challenge for a top-two role as he integrates further into the offense.

Insight page

Courtland Sutton

PositiveUsage25:08

Matthew Berry remains out on Cortland Sutton, citing his historical reliance on high volume to produce fantasy points. With the emergence of younger receivers like Pat Bryant, Marvin Mims, and Troy Franklin, Berry doubts Sutton will receive the necessary target share to be a consistent fantasy asset.

Insight page

Dalton Schultz

PositiveUsage41:14

Matthew Berry highlights Dalton Schultz as a reliable waiver target because he consistently earns targets, evidenced by a 22% target share in Week 1, which ranked second on his team.

Insight page

Deebo Samuel

PositiveUsage33:27

Matthew Berry lists Deebo Samuel as his number one waiver wire choice (available in over 51% of leagues) due to the injury to Stribling. Berry notes Samuel's 21% target share and three red-zone targets in Week 1, preferring him over Demarcus Robinson.

Insight page
PositiveValue33:28

Matthew Berry identifies Deebo Samuel as the top waiver wire priority due to a 21% target share in Week 1 and three red zone targets. With Stribling out for at least a month, Samuel is preferred over Demarcus Robinson. Jake Seeley notes that while Samuel's route share only increased 5-10%, he looked like his vintage self, and the 49ers' intent to limit Christian McCaffrey's workload could lead to more rushing usage for Samuel.

Insight page

Demarcus Robinson

NegativeRole33:40

Demarcus Robinson saw a significant role increase in Week 1, running the second-most routes among 49ers wide receivers. However, Matthew Berry and Jake Seeley express skepticism about his long-term value, noting he has never been a full-time player and his Week 1 usage was likely a product of a specific game plan following Stribling's injury.

Insight page
NegativeRole33:58

Jake Seeley notes that Demarcus Robinson saw an uptick in route participation following Stribling's injury, effectively taking over the WR1/WR2 role. However, Seeley questions if this usage will continue long-term compared to Deebo Samuel.

Insight page

Denzel Boston

NegativeUsage45:18

Denzel Boston saw 97% route participation and 58% of team air yards in Week 1. While he is a talented deep threat, Matthew Berry notes he is a volatile WR4 who relies on Deshaun Watson's deep heaves. He is expected to be a boom-or-bust play.

Insight page

Emmett Johnson

PositiveDepth Chart13:22

Matthew Berry identifies Emmett Johnson as the clear backup running back to Kenneth Walker. Berry advises managers to acquire Johnson as an insurance policy, noting he will see a massive workload if Walker were to miss time.

Insight page
NegativeRole50:42

Matthew Berry and Jake Seeley view Emmett Johnson as the clear backup to Kenneth Walker but do not see a path to fantasy viability for him as long as Walker remains healthy.

Insight page

Jalen Coker

PositiveSleeper32:11

Matthew Berry identifies Jalen Coker as the top waiver wire wide receiver priority for leagues where he is still available (39% rostered).

Insight page

Jaylen Waddle

PositiveProjection20:33

Matthew Berry and Jake Seeley remain confident in Jalen Waddle despite a slow Week 1. Seeley attributes the offensive struggles to facing a top-tier defensive coordinator (Spagnuolo) and a rookie play-caller, but expects the team to prioritize getting Waddle the ball moving forward.

Insight page

Kendre Miller

NegativeRole59:19

Kendra Miller saw significant work in the absence of Alvin Kamara, including both goal-to-go rushing attempts. However, Matthew Berry warns against overreacting as Kamara is expected back soon.

Insight page

Kenneth Walker III

PositiveProjection0:03

Matthew Berry ranks Kenneth Walker as a top-five running back rest-of-season, noting his 24% target share in Week 1 and his ability to generate yards after contact (120% of his total yards). Berry and Jake Seeley agree that Walker has a non-zero chance to finish as the overall RB1 if he maintains a 18-20+ touch workload.

Insight page
PositiveInjury9:58

Jake Seeley dismisses concerns regarding Kenneth Walker's injury history, arguing that playing the 'injury game' is a fool's errand. Seeley compares Walker's situation to Leonard Fournette, who was labeled injury-prone until he wasn't, and notes that other high-workload backs like Jahmyr Gibbs are not subjected to the same injury scrutiny.

Insight page

Kenyon Sadiq

PositiveBreakout44:25

Jake Seeley and Matthew Berry are high on Kenyon Sadiq, noting his elite athleticism, goal-line usage, and potential to become the Jets' number three pass-catching option following the departure of Amari Cooper.

Insight page

Malik Willis

PositiveBreakout39:35

Matthew Berry argues that Malik Willis has a higher long-term ceiling than Tyler Huntley, noting that Willis managed over 16 fantasy points despite not playing well against the Raiders. Berry credits Willis for performing under pressure with a limited receiving corps, specifically highlighting the involvement of rookie Chris Bell.

Insight page
PositiveProjection43:26

Despite concerns about his real-life quarterback play, Malik Willis is viewed as a fantasy asset due to his rushing floor. Jake Seeley notes that Willis could potentially lead the league in rushing among quarterbacks, making him a high-ceiling long-term add, though he is a risky start for Week 2 against San Francisco.

Insight page

Michael Mayer

NegativeRole47:29

Matthew Berry notes that Michael Mayer is a usable tight end option only if Brock Bowers misses additional time, though he ranks several other tight ends ahead of him.

Insight page

Mike Gesicki

NegativeUsage45:33

Matthew Berry notes Mike Gesicki was tight end five in utilization score in Week 1 but cautions that he only ran routes on 46% of dropbacks. He suggests Gesicki is the Bengals' third pass-catcher but recommends playing him based on matchups rather than as an every-week starter.

Insight page

Pat Bryant

PositiveBreakout25:51

Matthew Berry highlights Pat Bryant as a waiver wire target following a team-high 22% target share (4 catches for 42 yards) in Week 1. Berry notes that Bryant's strong training camp performance appears to be translating to the regular season.

Insight page

Pat Freiermuth

PositiveRole43:23

Matthew Berry and Jake Seeley argue that Pat Freiermuth's Week 1 performance is not a fluke, citing Mike McCarthy's offensive scheme which favors using one primary tight end rather than the triple-tight end sets used in Pittsburgh previously.

Insight page

Romeo Doubs

PositiveUsage32:18

Matthew Berry recommends Romeo Doubs as a top waiver wire target, noting an expected increase in target share due to AJ Brown's injury.

Insight page

T.J. Hockenson

PositiveUsage41:46

Matthew Berry and Jake Seeley are high on T.J. Hockenson, noting his 77% route participation in Week 1 and his history of being a primary target for Kyler Murray. They view him as a potential fantasy asset given the lack of consistent secondary wide receiver production in Murray's offenses.

Insight page

Tre Harris

PositiveSleeper47:39

With Lad McConkie dealing with a chest injury, Trey Harris is the primary beneficiary and the next man up in the Chargers' passing attack. Jake Seeley suggests Harris could replicate some of the slot/role duties and is a strong stash in deeper leagues.

Insight page

Tyler Huntley

NegativeProjection40:06

Matthew Berry prefers Tyler Huntley over Malik Willis as a pure quarterback for the immediate week, citing a better situation, though he acknowledges Huntley lacks the rushing upside that Willis provides.

Insight page

Woody Marks

NegativeUsage57:31

Woody Marks played 49% of snaps in Week 1, just one fewer than David Montgomery. While inefficient, he is a volume-based play who could see 15-20 touches per game if Montgomery were to miss time, making him a desperation flex or high-end backup.

0:06happy hour bar is officially open I am your friendly neighborhood bartender Matthew Berry and we have got a great show for
0:12you today drinking free today at the happy hour bar it is Ken Walker Ken Walker Ken Walker drinks free today and
0:19every day Jake Seeley Jake of course we all follow you on x at all in kid and we read all of
0:25your content over at the athletic thank you for joining me my friend how are you brother I'm doing great after a
0:31lot of Kenneth Walker shares last night I know you have to be too absolutely look Kenneth Walker was a um and
0:37we'll get into it we got a week two waiver wire um we'll get uh we'll get right into everything here but
0:43um like I was so all in on Ken Walker I have a massive amount of Kenneth Walker shares I had him
0:49as my running back six going into the season so higher than Saquon higher than Derrick Henry higher than a lot of
0:56other guys that we're going ahead of him in various drafts um as Greg Lau 100 says Jake freaking Seeley Greg Lau
1:02apparently very excited Jake um uh the sealer I'm not sure that works may K okay um uh we we add lure
1:08to everything like it started with a traveler I'm the ankler or the excuse lure depending on where you get to um
1:14but uh but anyway like um uh let's see exhausted Texans fans Ken Walker explosion and Jake Jake's good head of lettuce
1:20today will be a good show you do have a good head of lettuce my friend um she's the one that she's
1:26the one that told me to start growing it out that that's all the wife is your wife okay nice job by
1:33the way are you are you coming to me live from a comic book store what the hell is this background where
1:39are you what is going on back there I mean basically I mean everything the band kicker shirt like this is what
1:45happens when you start in the industry 20 years ago almost now I'd be like man my backdrop's kind of empty and
1:51then being the person I am uh it just kept snowballing over the years and it just never stopped yeah you're a
1:57hoarder I get it all right yeah you're like you should be on that show hoarders like a lot going on back
2:04there but uh Jake everybody thinks we're in our mom's basements anyway right so it's fair it's fair I'm in my mom's
2:10liquor cabinet um listen Jake you do a great job I've you and I've been friends for years I've followed your work
2:16for a long time you do great work so I'm thrilled that you're here and yeah specifically about Ken Walker like have
2:22a ton of shares of him I was sounds like you do as well um you know he was he was one
2:28of my finalists for my ride or die um which after week one you don't want to victory lap too much after
2:34week one the finalists are looking pretty good finalists were Ken Walker Ladd McConkie Chase Brown Colston Loveland um uh and then
2:41um right exactly so I can't I can't victory lap too much because Colston Loveland was literally my runner-up for ride or
2:47die um I'm trying to I'm trying to hang tight to route participation uh at the moment that's all I've got I
2:53I hold it tight when I go to bed at night and cry crying to my route participation shares but um and
2:59Devante Smith was my actual ride or die so um but yes I'm Ken Walker Ken the man Walker Jake Seeley uh
3:05I mean let's just dive right into it I think to me other than the fact that he looked awesome uh is
3:11the fact that he had a 24 target share like he was tied for the team lead and I think some of
3:18that was because Patrick didn't look great and he was under pressure a lot and you know it felt like he was
3:24short arming a lot of throws but still you're telling me Ken Walker can get you know even if even if it
3:30goes down even it was a little bit but like if you're telling me he gets a 15 target share the rest
3:36of the year tells me he gets a 17 target share I'm all in um Jake so here's my question and I
3:42think you're I think I know the answer it but my question is buy or sell this premise Ken Walker is a
3:49top five fantasy running back the rest of the way a hundred percent buy and I had him just outside there you
3:55were a little bit higher than I was but it really comes down to what we heard the entire offseason was not
4:01just they're going to involve him in the passing game but they were designing their running back passing game around Kenneth Walker
4:07if we got that target share the argument that I was making for taking him over Gentty was that all the argument
4:13for Gentty getting all those receptions and all the workload and everything like that I'm like well you're getting that but on
4:19the Chiefs so I love Ken Walker and then on top of it the crazy one that I think that a lot
4:26of people miss and I know you saw this too negative yards before contact last night he actually had almost 120 percent
4:32of his yards after contact because of that because he has that home run play this is what we were yelling for
4:38years for for the Seahawks to do is to stop involving Charbonnet and Charbonnet was a great talent before being hurt so
4:44it's hard not to but bell cow Kenneth Walker getting 20 touches a week I mean honestly last night was almost 25
4:50if we've sit in this world where even it's 18 plus and he ends up with 350 touches top five might be
4:56too low he might be in that tier one conversation with Bijon or Bijon and Gibbs I said this I I you
5:03know you go back and you see there's I forget what show I did it on they all sort of run together
5:09but when when talking about Ken Walker in the preseason I said this I said I don't know how likely it is
5:15but number one running back in fantasy football is within the range of outcomes for Ken Walker again in a world where
5:21Bijon Robinson and Jimmie Gibbs stay healthy I think it's unlikely but it's not a zero percent chance there's not a zero
5:27percent chance that Ken Walker winds up this year as the number one running back in fantasy last question on Walker here
5:33and then we'll move on is there because I did see some of this so 26 touches yesterday 23 carries three receptions
5:4026 touches for Ken Walker and and more or less a blowout win the concern that I saw some people online like
5:46yeah this is awesome it's week one talk to me if he still can do this in week 10 people are worried
5:52about the injuries with Walker especially given the workload that we saw last night are you in that camp Jake I am
5:58not at all I don't like to play the injury game unless it's something like Jordan Tyson you know multiple hamstring injuries
6:04soft tissue industry industries injuries are something that I'll pay attention to but not with him and you'll remember this you go
6:11back further than I do and you help me even start where I'm at Jake is that no no Jake did you
6:17slip in an old joke I think you did so it's fair I do go back longer than you but I feel
6:23like you just slipped in an old joke which is all right I see how we're playing this you hoarder I was
6:29also trying to give you credit for helping me get to this career point at the athletic by the way so you
6:35kind of glossed over that part but I will say Leonard Fournette was hurt hurt hurt hurt until he wasn't hurt he
6:41was hurt twice in college he was hurt first two years of his career and then he was healthy one of the
6:48best running backs in the game I always use him just because everybody's injury prone until they're not everybody's healthy until they
6:54get hurt we can try to play the game but I feel it's more of a fool's errand so I'm not worried
7:00but Kenneth Walker let me push it back to you Matt for everybody that's doing this everybody's like oh Kenneth Walker and
7:06he has to hold up what about the smaller Jameer Gibbs getting 25 touches a game we're not worried about that so
7:12we could play the game both ways a thousand percent and what I would say to the people that are concerned about
7:18the injury here is like yes injuries it's a violent game and injuries can happen anyone else it's interesting right as we
7:25sit here and think about we'll get into the waivers here in a minute but you think about sort of who we're
7:31talking about being banged up John Stribbling AJ Brown Kyler Murray like you know what I mean like we're not talking about
7:37any running backs like it's all wide receipt you know like all the injuries are like you know wide receivers wide receivers
7:43Bowers was out it's wide wide receivers tight ends and quarterbacks right no running backs got hurt in week one um as
7:49well and the running backs that we thought that were hurt Ashton Gentry Jeremiah Love they both looked fine you know they
7:56both they both played in week one so I'm with you my only the only thing would be is this like the
8:02other thing that last night proved is that Emmett Johnson is clearly the backup running back to Ken Walker so you know
8:08again he's probably out there in a decent amount of leagues in in a world where he's rostered by somebody that that
8:14isn't the Ken Walker manager try to make an acquisition for him a little bit um it's clear that he's only going
8:20to be an insurance back as long as Ken Walker is healthy he's going to get a massive workload but um that
8:26was what was the interesting there thing there and uh quickly you're very kind Jake you got yourself to the athletic your
8:33talent got yourself to the athletic your work ethic got yourself to the athletic I was happy to give you some advice
8:39um which I'm happy to do to anyone in the industry because I am old and have been doing this a long
8:45time and I've seen a lot of stuff but to be clear you know you know I'm you know I'm a fan
8:51and supporter um and always have been always will be but uh to be clear you got yourself to the athletic I
8:57had nothing to do with that so um thank you uh let's move on to uh the Broncos offense um um so
9:03this is so awesome uh this is this is so awesome so I'm in a guillotine league with all the regulars of
9:10uh all the regulars the fantasy football happy hour regulars so it's me and 17 other people and last night going into
9:16Monday football I was done Jamar Chase was my number one pick in this it's an 18 team league right it's an
9:2218 team guillotine league so Jamar Chase was my number one pick and I was done I had like 75 points so
9:28uh Brian Hickman was behind me he had 73 points and I'm like and he had one player to go Jalen Waddle
9:34I'm like all right well I'm losing to him so now it's between me and me and raise the flags right me
9:41and raise the flags and raise the flags he's like at 70 points like I'm at I'm at 70 I'm at 75
9:47he's at 71 sorry like I'm at 75 points he's at 71 and he has Cortland Sutton so I'm like my only
9:53chance at surviving this week is if Cortland Sutton somehow gets under four fantasy points and when tweeted out I forgot I
9:59mentioned three but it was basically four points and what do you know not only did I not get cut Jake Seeley
10:05I finished I didn't even finish second to last because Brian Hickman should thank his lucky stars because if it wasn't for
10:11Cortland Sutton you know he'd have been cut because Jalen Waddle just 1.2 points so um as uh let's see uh family
10:18says did raise the flags get enough points from Sutton to chop Berry he did not he did not family he did
10:24not it's uh SEC man says I think it's lower the flags today that's right it is lower the flags it's outrageous
10:30I love raise the flags he's been one of one of the one of the best uh viewers and uh you know
10:36contributors to the show um he was in the regulars uh listener league for a reason uh he's the best I do
10:42love raise the flags diehard Tampa Bay fan um but raise the flags better you than me as uh raise the flag
10:48says yeah flags are at half mast I feel you brother I feel you I feel bad for you I don't feel
10:55bad enough to you know do anything like it is what it is like I have to live another day it's better
11:01for everyone else in the league that I'm in the league no one wanted to see me chopped week number one um

12:03the Platypus Economics podcast if there's one thing I've learned from a career teaching economics it's that your life is shaped by
12:09economic currents you'll never see a single price tag can explain things a thousand experts can't people who understand economics they make
12:15better decisions in their careers their finances their relationships in their communities and I want that for you listen to and follow
12:21Platypus Economics available now wherever you get your podcasts all that's a long way to intro in addition to just giving some
12:27crap to Brian Hickman and raise the flags Jake Seeley what panic level should we have on this Broncos offense because Sean
12:33Payton it was mentioned on the show on the broadcast last night a couple of times Sean Payton told his wife to
12:40draft Jalen Waddle in fantasy is Sean Payton getting divorced this morning where are we at with the Broncos offense uh he
12:46he might be from Davis Webb I felt like he was like chomping at the bit to say something in the second
12:52half but I'll say if I was giving it a scale of five it's a one right now I reference this all
12:58the time here this is another one I go back as far as this one so so do you is Eli Manning
13:04at the peak of his career you'll remember when they overhauled the entire offense in the offseason made the Gilbride change and
13:10offensive coordinator took them six games for Eli Manning to look like Eli Manning for that offense to function in their new
13:17way so I know it's not a complete overhaul I'm bringing up for basically a lot of the offenses that did have
13:23overhauls but part of this too is Davis Webb and it's not just Davis Webb and the Broncos it was Davis Webb
13:29and the Broncos facing Spagnuolo who's probably going to have like a Hall of Fame resume for defensive coordinators let's give him
13:35a lot of credit in this one so I'm mildly concerned the one really comes down to I'm not the biggest Bo
13:41Nix guy but I'm giving him a pass I'm giving a pass to Waddle a little lesser than Sutton because I'm a
13:48little bit worried about the Pat Bryant involvement but the offensive line for one that was the best the past two years
13:54are among the best the past two years they let a little bit too much pressure that entire game so that's where
14:00my one concern comes from Davis Webb and the offense are going to have better days but I would say that the
14:06offensive line I want to see play better next week you and I are in complete lockstep here I'm not worried about
14:12Jalen Waddle he's a special player they will figure out way like Davis Webb will either figure out a way to get
14:18him the ball or Davis Webb won't become plays anymore like that's going to happen and yes you are on there you
14:25know rookie play caller you know rookie play caller on the road at Arrowhead against Spags a thousand percent to a team
14:31that you know by the way and they got you know like the you know the Broncos are coming in but like
14:37we won the division last year we're you know we were the runner-ups of the AFC and you know you guys suck
14:43now and so I mean a lot of chips on the shoulder for um uh for the Chiefs of course and there's
14:49no way that Kansas City was going to lose in front of Taylor Swift and Tom Cruise you just can't do that
14:55you can't do that in front of American royalty absolutely not there was never going to be a chance so I'm completely
15:02fine on Jalen Waddle he'll be I'm not worried about it he had the bad drop whatever he's Jalen Waddle he'll be
15:08fine I'm I was out on Sutton this year obviously nothing because I do think that um you know my concern on
15:14Sutton was that he was on the preseason hate list and it was all about the fact that like he was somebody
15:20that throughout his career has needed volume to get there you know he he's decent he's a good red zone threat but
15:26generally speaking he's needed volume and we just with the addition of Waddle with all the young guys Marvin Mims Troy Franklin
15:33and of course Pat Bryant I just didn't know that he was going to get the volume and obviously after week one
15:39it didn't seem like he was going to and they were using Evan Ingram a lot more Evan Ingram got a lot
15:45more usage than I thought he was going to he looked pretty good I was like oh yeah that's right Evan Ingram's
15:51on this team so um Pat Bryant I think is interesting and I do think he's somebody worth considering as we get
15:57into waivers here team high 22 percent target share four for 42.
16:01we heard a lot of uh training camp reports that you know he was sort of the star of training camp and
16:07nothing we saw on Monday night Jake makes me think that that was incorrect so I do think Pat Bryant is somebody
16:13that should be picked up in a lot more leagues if he's available in your side before we get into waivers though
16:19I do have a question for you Jake I do have a question for you what am I wearing Jake what am
16:25I wearing the flex championship chain there we go there we go shout out trophies back yeah what do you explain what
16:31do you explain to the good people what I'm wearing here Jake Seeley uh a championship in the best bowl flex leagues
16:38uh they have multiples live and you're in the best bowl not only that that you pretty much had with three weeks
16:44to go and nobody could chase you down at the end of the season so kudos to you you basically ran away
16:50with that one last year I did and you know what I did in 2023 the same damn thing the same damn
16:56thing it's your second one yeah two of the last three years can you do me a favor Jake can you pull
17:02up real quickly just the list of all so flex stands while I'm while I'm explaining this can you put the list
17:09of everyone that's in that league that was in that league last year so flex stands for fantasy league of experts Jake
17:15Seeley runs these these are expert leagues they he has like you know one quarterback super flex I I'm in too many
17:21managed leagues as it is so I do the flex best ball league I've done it like I think this is my
17:27fourth year participating it I've only won two of the three years I've been in it no big deal NDD just saying
17:33but can you just do me a favor there uh Jake Seeley just do me a favor as I sit here with
17:39my uh with my flavor Flav here um uh go ahead read off read of all the people that lost to me
17:46last year I did uh after having Brian Thomas and uh Terry McLaurin to start that draft that was a lot of
17:52fun yeah uh Pete over that Adam Azer hang on for a second Peter over is that the the original best ball
17:58bro Peter over is that the legend Peter over is that fantasy by 200 points 200 points you topped him by I
18:04mean he's a legend in best ball just not in in a best ball league that I'm in no big deal all
18:10right go ahead so Adam Azer CBS Pat Fitzmorris Pat Thorman uh Andrew Erickson Marcus Grant uh another one of yours Matthew
18:16Friedman uh so you got that too Matt Harmon Bob Harris the godfather uh Nando DeFino he always loved beating that smiley
18:23guy yep uh John Daigle and Scott Fish that's a lot of those are those are all people that I respect a
18:29lot I I respect them a little bit less because I beat them all like like a you know like I'd crushed
18:35them like a grape last year uh you know Matthew 2 Chainz Berry yeah yeah exactly Ved forget the ankler the excuse
18:41alert today it's the gloatler that's right Jake Seeley ran this league sent me this trophy God bless you uh Jake Seeley
18:47I'm gonna wear this for the rest of the uh Michelle I'll tell you what six of those people you beat them
18:54in 2023 too because there was other people that were in that league that year so the six of those same people
19:00you got beat twice gluttons for punishment they keep coming back I don't know how many times I gotta teach them a
19:06lesson it is what it is um Greg Louse saying Barry looks like Kirk cousins with his airplane chains on I do
19:12it is a little it is a little Kirk Cousinsy I did it is a little it is a little old man
19:18all right um uh all right Jake Seeley let's get into some actual uh waiver wire talk here uh I want to
19:24start with Wade wide receivers because I feel like that's the biggest um yeah that's the biggest area of opportunity here and
19:31there's a lot of them here real quickly it's just worth noting if Jalen Coker is still available in your league he's
19:37out there in about 39 percent of leagues he's the obvious number one choice Romeo Dobbs he's available in 46 percent increased
19:43target share with AJ Brown out those would be my two top guys if they're available but we're using a 50 percent
19:49available mark so we look at you know at fantasylife.com of course we've got tools that look at at waiver availability and
19:55roster percentages across every platform wherever you could possibly play um uh and so we look at that so these are players
20:01that are available in over 51 percent of leagues in pretty much across the across the industry and my number one choice
20:08here I think is Deebo Samuel right with the injury to Stribling 21 target share in week one had three ends red
20:14zone targets as well um Stribling's gonna miss the Strib Club is gonna be closed for at least a month um and
20:20I prefer Deebo to Demarcus Robinson if you're investing in the 49ers passing game which I think is gonna be pretty good
20:26Jake what say you I say I I agree I don't know if Deebo is my number one only because I hope
20:32the uptick in route share comes and I will say because in game uh you saw that everybody did is that his
20:39only went up about five to ten percent the Demarcus Robinson basically took over the role for Stribling which Stribling was running
20:45out there as the one slash two when he was the two and so I don't think that continues because it's Deebo
20:51and let's be honest Deebo looked like he did two three years ago like he didn't look like last year's Deebo so
20:57I'm hoping that carries over especially with that target share with Brock Purdy it's just a little hesitation the fact that Kittle
21:03was only out there 40 percent of the time coming back from his injury um so does he see that same volume
21:09if you told me going forward not even 22 if you just told me 17 going forward Deebo will be locked and
21:16I'll be like go get him up there with Coker uh I'm just a little bit more hesitant in the fact that
21:22I see the two names behind him and I think there might be a higher ceiling especially with the third one which
21:28we'll get to uh I feel like Devon Vele is in the same conversation for Deebo just because I feel like both
21:34their windows are temporary on the person that's being out um and I'm hope like I said I'm hoping for more from
21:40Deebo if he's locked into that 60 65 percent role which was basically Stefan Diggs last year we might only be getting
21:46wide receiver three which isn't a bad thing yeah the only argument on Deebo is I just think again it's clear that
21:53and we'll get to this in the running backs but it's clear that they don't want McCaffrey to have as big a
21:59workload as last year and so they will use Deebo some in the in the running game as well uh row row
22:05Deebo says SEC man sure you get that but not bad all right it rhymes I'm I'm a big fan of rhyming
22:11um anyway I think maybe it's Ro Ro Ro Deebo oh yeah okay or better oh that's not bad yeah as a
22:17team name not bad Ro Ro Ro Deebo all right good I got it I'm now I'm in I'm in um so
22:23anyway so that's my only thing and I just uh the the rest of the guys that we're gonna mention I don't
22:30think any of them are on his offense as good as the 49ers so that was my argument was proven proven player
22:36in a proven system on an offense that I like an opportunity but I agree with you like I just I feel
22:42like Demarcus Robinson's just never been a full-time player and that in a in a week in which Shannon knows like to
22:48me what happened against the Rams was like crap we have this game plan uh you know Stripling's out Robinson you can
22:54run those routes you just go do that but in a week where he knows he doesn't have Stripling he's gonna design
23:01you you know and Debo looked good okay let me design some more stuff that you know features Debo is the only
23:07thought there but worth noting Robinson did run the second most routes among the Niners wide receivers in week number one you
23:13mentioned Devon Vele who's my number two choice talk to me about the number two wide receiver for your New Orleans Saints
23:19yeah well look at last year is overlooked and it's a small sample as always a lot of these things are but
23:25weeks 12 through 15 when he was healthy and after Shahid was gone talking about top 25 wide receiver I think a
23:31lot of people didn't even notice that last year because all the focus was on Chris Alave and the fact that Shuck
23:38was playing well the targets are going to be there even with Juwan Johnson getting his the concern this is why I
23:44would take Debo and you said the better offense is that if you just take the first 35-40 minutes of that game
23:50nobody was really doing much of anything Vele was doing a little bit but it was mostly Alave and Shuck looked like
23:56he had never played quarterback before so they say that the Saints don't have that issue against better defenses or potentially in
24:02other situations is why Vele is behind him but he's somebody that at least until Tyson comes back which is if when
24:08and then how many games is it going to take for Tyson to ramp up you can at least get Vele as
24:15I'd say PPR low NY receiver three half nine probably a wide receiver four but again that's valuable 92% route participation 17%
24:21target share Kellen Moore's offense has always played a very high pace so and that defense didn't make you think like I
24:27think the Saints are going to be in a lot of shootouts like that this season as well by the way Devon
24:33Bailey ranked top 10 among all wide receivers in utilization score utilization score is a metric created by our own Dwayne McFarland
24:39his utilization report is up now for free at fantasylife.com it is with all due respect to you Jake and the work
24:46that I do as well to me Dwayne McFarland's utilization report is the most useful article in fantasy football every single week
24:52and that includes everything that I write dead serious I check it every week yeah unbelievable Dwayne is Dwayne is absolutely the
24:58best so anyway uh Vela was top 10 among wide receivers in utilization score now this is interesting one of the guys
25:04that you're mentioning here I think and you probably agree with me I think that Chris Bell is the most talented rookie
25:10on the Dolphins but Caleb Douglas was the guy that got all the work he led the Dolphins and receptions and receiving
25:16yards in week one 86% route participation 26% target share he had three deep targets you know and so Caleb Douglas you
25:23know five for 94 over 14 fantasy points on a team that doesn't have a lot of options suddenly becomes interesting yeah
25:29I I basically called him Cedric Tillman if Cedric Tillman could play football that's basically what you're looking for those big plays
25:35club set is always open I said to Tillman uh damn it but it's the comparison of like being able to actually
25:41catch the balls and run a little bit more routes but let's be clear I 100% Chris Bell is the better talent
25:47Chris Bell would have been a first round draft pick if not for the injury so Chris Bell is coming for a
25:53top two role Malik Washington alligator arming a pass and fumbling in the second half you just threw the door open for
26:00Chris Bell to come through as long as he's 100% integrated into this offense but until then and even then Malik wills
26:06here's the funny thing Matthew is like we did this entire before free agency everybody's like oh somebody's going to get a
26:12value with Malik Willis he's going to be a good quarterback he's going to get the opportunity to be a starter he
26:18goes to the Dolphins and then all of a sudden everybody's like ah he sucks like just because he went to Dolphins
26:24we know the Dolphins stink but it's not Malik Willis and there were questionable passes there were some bad throws the Raiders
26:31got after it I have concerns about that offensive line but he can support the big plays big throws that we saw
26:37previous to being with the Dolphins which is why that's why I was bringing up Douglas for ceiling if you told me
26:43Debo Vele or Douglas who can potentially be a shock top 25 my pick would actually be Douglas despite having easily the
26:49biggest risk of the three yeah and we'll talk about Willis a little bit later coming up in quarterbacks but like as
26:55though it wasn't always pretty but as we talked about throughout the preseason he was on the preseason levelist as well and
27:01in terms of from ADP like the rushing always gives you a floor there like he the questions are gonna be out
27:08as to whether or not uh Malik Willis can be a real-life NFL quarterback but fantasy wise he can absolutely be an
27:14asset yeah um let's talk about uh Denzel Boston from the uh from the Browns he's at Tampa Bay this week that
27:20secondary doesn't scare you 97 route participation in week one 58 percent of the team's air yards we still prefer or at
27:26least I do Casey Concepcion but they are gonna take deep shots to Boston he is a he is a talent very
27:32talented young wide receiver and you know he caught the long touchdown yeah and it comes down to basically that's all Watson
27:38can do at this point he knows he can't throw it to a player so he just heaves it downfield and hopes
27:45Boston can go run underneath it that's really what it comes down to so Watson's gonna take his shots he's gonna take
27:51three four five of them every single week but that's what makes Boston intriguing you just have to know and I'm sure
27:57everybody does this is what you get with a wide receiver like that he's not more than a wide receiver for even
28:03running as the one you mentioned Concepcion even though he's third in routes he was the top utilized one and they've talked
28:09about ways to be in the backfield even for him which might even happen more now that they have the injury the
28:16Samson but all that being said Boston's gonna be what Boston is he's gonna get you two or 15 and there's gonna
28:22be no in between so just ride that roller coaster and that's if you don't want to do it don't sign up
28:28for it I also think we've get one more week of Deshaun Watson I think Shadur starts week three I hope you're
28:34right Watson looked like he was actively trying to get benched to get that paycheck and just stop playing I mean it's
28:40it's it's tough it was a tough watch so I think he gets one more week and then I think uh especially
28:46going back they'll be on the road at Tampa Bay Buccaneers angry after losing to Cincy I think Watson will look bad
28:53again this week and then I think Shadur in week three uh as well last one here um look you know we
28:59love lad McConkie one of one of the runners of ride or die but he leaves with that chest injury which may
29:05maybe opens the door for Trey Harris Jake Seeley I would say it does he clearly looked like he was the next
29:11one up and I know there's other talk about the other options but the tight ends are a mess and McDaniel told
29:17us that was gonna happen and that everybody was out there I think in Joku led with 40 45 percent of the
29:23routes so yeah if there's no lad McConkie it's Trey Harris he won't be playing the slot as much as lad does
29:30because we know Darius Davis would come in and mix in but we're not worried about Davis when it comes to that
29:36especially because we were trying to figure out who was who whether you know who was going to be Tyreek Hill on
29:42this team the answer right now is nobody um but I still think there's a chance that if you're looking for the
29:48exact replication I thought it could be Johnston because obviously Waddle slash McConkie but Trey Harris might fit that role a little
29:54bit more so if you're in a deeper league and Lad McConkie's out I would definitely take a chance on Trey even
30:00if you don't use him because if Lad's out two three four weeks and Trey pops off you know people are going
30:07to be going crazy for him come next week no question let's go ahead and take a look at our top weight
30:13wide receiver waiver ads for week number two I believe we have a graphic built there you go in order this is
30:19at least my order Jake might have a slightly different order but it is my show uh Debo Samuel Devon Bailey Caleb
30:25Douglas Denzel Boston Trey Harris and then some others kind of receiving votes Adonai Mitchell tied for the team lead in routes
30:31run Omar Cooper dealing with that ankle sprain how about Kendrick Bourne 22 percent target share in week one he ran only
30:38four fewer routes than Marvin Harrison Marv where are you you're on a milk carton brother Rashad Bateman you know Rashad friend
30:44of the podcast so I don't want to say anything but you know listen it's been an up and down career for
30:50Rashad Bateman but Zay Flowers is dealing with a hammy Jacoby Lane with that wrist there's a chance that Rashad Bateman could
30:56have a expanded role here and I just have to mention Khalif Raymond who had a 35 target share you want as
31:02many pieces of this Bears offense now he only had a he had an under 60 percent route participation he's a part-time
31:08player I think you've seen Khalif Raymond's best game of the year by far but it's worth mentioning just you know he
31:15was out there for Caleb Williams and I think you want as much of this Bears offense as possible in a deeper
31:21league maybe he's interesting Khalif Raymond um any names uh out there that you want to mention real quickly that uh that
31:27jump out at you on that list or um or otherwise I'll echo the Raymond thing especially because everybody's stashing Tesla in
31:33case something happens there everybody's stashing Yoshivas in case something happened Khalif Raymond deserves to be in that conversation as well now
31:39because Ben Johnson basically brought him over and treated him the way that he did with the with the Lions that Adonai
31:45Mitchell intrigues me because we knew about the off the field situations and the character and all I like is he coachable
31:52and all that stuff coming out of college which is part of the reason he switched teams or got sent off to
31:58the Jets and we've seen what he can do though we know the talent and that he can get free and oh
32:04by the way Geno Smith still a capable quarterback uh I'm going to take a chance on Mitchell especially as you brought
32:10that up too Cooper the injury is out for some time so Mitchell has that and now is going to have freeway
32:16to keep that role yeah just again deeper leagues other guys I'll just mention real quickly Antonio Williams I think only ran
32:2311 routes but certainly encouraging performance for him for the commanders hopefully that leads to more playing time as the three in
32:29an offense that should be decent DeMario Douglas is going to get more playing time with AJ Brown out as well as
32:35will Mac Collins so both those guys again I still think Dobbs despite the tough game week one is the Patriots wide
32:41receiver you want while Brown is out but certainly there'll be an increased role for Pop Douglas and Mac Collins let's move
32:47on to what running back waivers we have 20 minutes left here Jake so we'll have to move a little bit quicker
32:53but um there's not really to me the the area where you're in the you really want to focus as wide receiver
33:00because there wasn't a lot else out there but um you know it was encouraging to see as much uh well not
33:06if you have CMC but Kalen Black looked good right same number of touches of CMC in week one he led the
33:12team in rush attempts played 44 percent of the snaps he actually out snapped CMC uh 26 to 25 on first and
33:18second down now again I think some of that was first game of the season uh how the game score they're over
33:24in Australia it's weird there were reports that CMC cramped up a little bit but Kalen Black needs to be rostered in
33:30pretty much every league because Chris McCaffrey is rostered in every league 100 exactly to a tee what you just said because
33:37even if Kalen Black goes to 20 of the touches next week and you can never start him it's he's behind CMC
33:43if you're the CMC manager this is for people that still play the archaic burn your waiver priority you burn the waiver
33:49priority because if something happens to CMC the biggest answer here is we did the Jordan James we did Garendo last year
33:55and times before it's who's next up the 49ers told us 100 with that Jordan James injury that Black took the job
34:01and it is 100 his job the best case scenario is that that continues and they ease off CMC this year and
34:08then he ends up being a flex play where you know some weeks you won't get a lot but you can desperation
34:14start him as that RB3 flex so you know if you had Algier you know waiting for Jeremiah Love I'd make the
34:20swap because again this is assuming that that's the only drop you can make but the ceiling for Black is a potential
34:26RB1 if CMC gets hurt I think Algier has a cap Brian Robinson has a cap behind Bijon and all the rest
34:32Black is probably the one or two when it comes to pure handcuffs completely agree he's up there in the tank bigsby
34:38conversation in terms of like you know if something were to happen at the starter in front of him this guy would
34:45immediately slide in as an RB1 for every week where he was the starter it's an uninspiring list moving forward Woody Marks
34:51he's playing Cincinnati this week you know he played 49 of the snaps in week one he played only one fewer snap
34:57than Dave Montgomery didn't really show up in the box score you know 10 touches nine for 42 and then you know
35:03he caught one ball for negative yards he's not a guy that's going to score often but I thought he looked pretty
35:09good uh would be my take on Woody Marks and I you know the Texans offense moved the ball better than I
35:15thought they would against the bills I agree I think that that's one that's a desperation flex but also somebody that's that
35:22next tier of backup so we just played it last year with Woody Marks everybody saw it as inefficient as they come
35:28but he was an RB2 because of the volume and as good as David Montgomery looked I thought I agree with you
35:34I thought Marks looked better than he probably did his entire rookie season but both of them Montgomery included is a volume
35:40play not even averaging four yards per carry you play the volume play with the Houston Texans running backs honestly at the
35:46end of Joe Mixon's career he was a volume play and that's why Woody Marks is intriguing because if something happens to
35:53Monty he's going to go right back to getting his 15 20 touches a week Jake you brought up Devon Vele earlier
35:59in the show let's talk about his teammate Kendra Miller here yeah I if we knew Camara was definitely out I would
36:05definitely be intrigued because I think the biggest shot one of the not the Chargers losing and blowing up survivors it was
36:11the etch and timeshare with no Camara nobody saw that coming Kendra Miller saw both goal to go rushing attempts here yes
36:17same number of rush attempts as Travis HN or at the end whatever you want to call it again but Camara is
36:23expected back sooner rather than later so don't get crazy on Kendra Miller but um it you know he's a young guy
36:30that uh that was you know that they liked coming out of the draft and you know there were some work ethic
36:36uh concerns I think that's you know that that was the rumor I don't know if that's true or not but either
36:42way um you know he it was impressive uh concerning from an HN uh ownership percentage but uh it was impressive for
36:48Kendra Miller how much work he got also you know just some other names George Chilani saw both of the Seahawks running
36:54back red zone touches in week one played 44 percent of the snaps I think Jadarian Price will play more as it
37:00moves on but it's just worth mentioning and how about Chris Brooks I don't think this is that crazy I mean again
37:07Marshall Lloyd has never been like a big bell cow kind of running back so Chris Brooks in a because we think
37:13the Packers offense is going to throw a lot more this year Chris Brooks is kind of interesting played 55 percent of
37:19the snaps which led the Packers backfield so uh I do think Chris Brooks his playing time I don't think that's as
37:25fluky as people might initially think because I don't think they want Lloyd to play as much and I do think they're
37:31going to throw more this year Brooks is the passing down back let's move on to quarterback waivers we've talked about a
37:38couple of Saints here uh Jake and so no surprise we're doing that at quarterback position Tyler Shuck shuck around and find
37:44out he's available in almost 60 percent of leagues he's my number one quarterback ad this week yeah I'm okay with it
37:50your number two would be my number one but you're kind of nitpicky here only because of how rough the beginning look
37:56for Shuck but I think we're on agreement especially if you're streaming this week is I think people are thinking of old
38:02Ravens and go back and watch week one and that was a little bit more of Daniel Jones than the Colts than
38:08anything is that I think the Ravens are more successful than people are going to give him credit for and that they
38:15can end up being shootouts like the Lions where that front is more fearsome than the back end so all that being
38:21said it is one week but Shuck he also we know he's going to chip in a little not to the level
38:27of Malik Willis but on the run department so if you need a quarterback I think Shucks definitely intriguing I would still
38:33take your number two fair enough but since week 14 of last season Tyler Shuck is the fifth best quarterback in fantasy
38:39football on a point for game basis he's had 20 or more fantasy points in four of his last six games it's
38:45not always pretty but your point right he gets points with his legs it's an aggressive play caller in Kellen Moore that
38:52plays at a high pace of play by the way they're eight and a half point underdogs on the road at Baltimore
38:58so should be another pass heavy game script for the Saints and Tyler Shuck my number two that you mentioned I'll let
39:04you talk about him is Malik Willis yeah and that's why specifically only this week he's headed to San Francisco so I'll
39:10go Shuck over Willis for this week but if I was purely picking up a quarterback I think we just saw like
39:16it's probably going to be as bad passing wise if not potentially worse for Willis but it's the rushing floor is that
39:22if you listed quarterbacks and you said hey I'm going to go down this list of who could lead the league in
39:29rushing you'd probably start the list with Lamar but right behind him is Malik Willis and it might even be Malik Willis
39:35at this version of Lamar so that's really what you get here and if he just continues to develop and with the
39:41biggest thing is give him some credit for doing what he did not only under pressure but with a rookie wide receiver
39:47versus one uh basically at a place wide receivers two and a rookie wide receiver trying to get involved in Chris Bell
39:53is his three so I give Willis a little bit more credit than people want to give him not saying you are
40:00um but I think the ceiling for Willis is higher which is why I would chase him long term but for this
40:06week that's why I was saying this week I actually agree with you and Shuck you look at you know he's not
40:12gonna get to play the Raiders every week but 16 in a game which he didn't look great he still wound up
40:18with over 16 fantasy points so I mean yeah right there's the floor with Willis is there I just uh I um
40:24I like Shuck a little bit more just as a pure quarterback and just I like the situation and while the rushing
40:30with Willis is you know eventually he's gonna get a Jordan Tyson back kind of like Juwan Johnson as a tight end
40:37you know what I mean a lobby is a superstar so I just I feel better about the situation with Tyler Shuck
40:43also we just mentioned Carson Wentz if Kyler Murray isn't getting cleared from the concussion protocol Carson Wentz plays the Bears I
40:49mean Chicago just allowed over 360 yards and three touchdowns to Bryce Young like again and they're gonna play at such a
40:55high pace the Bears offense there like anyone playing the Bears is gonna have to throw so if Kyler Murray isn't back
41:01this week Carson Wentz could make a one-week streamer in what should be a shootout against the Bears let's move on with
41:0712 minutes left here uh Jake let's move on to tight end waivers and uh I'm surprised by some of the names
41:14that are still available because again there's literally nothing sexy about Dalton Schultz except for the fact that he constantly earns targets
41:20he constantly earns targets right 22 target share in week number one that was second best on the team and what about
41:26TJ Hawkinson like we saw sort of forgot about him a little bit but I thought he looked pretty good two red
41:32zone targets 77 route participation maybe with Kyler Murray who of course targeted Trey McBride so often and we're not saying Hawkinson's
41:38McBride but like Kyler likes the tight end right and so is Wentz and so Hawkinson suddenly you know fantasy zombie whatever
41:45what's the you know undertaking gif I was about to say like I I can't agree with you more on these two
41:51so the longest time after Higgins went down I was like the answer is just what we did last year Dalton Schultz
41:57is the two chop stop trying to figure out Noel and if tank Dell can ever play again Schultz is the answer
42:03as the number two so I completely agree with you on that and then Hawkinson I wrote him up so I wrote
42:09him up preseason too because of what you said about Kyler if you look at Kyler's career he's primarily been wide receiver
42:15tight end and the second wide receiver has very rarely been involved to a relevant degree and some of that has to
42:22do with the talent he played with but even Carson Wentz was doing the same thing and I'm glad you brought up
42:28the 77 route percentage because if you look at his averages TJ Hawkinson hasn't hit that since his rookie season when it
42:34was just him and nobody else it's been low 70s into the 60s and that's including like the injuries factoring that out
42:40so to see him that involved again I'm with you like I I the Undertaker gif is the same thing I used
42:46you're 100% we're on the same page I can't agree with you more on these two uh I saw Brenton Strange on
42:52the list there as well look this Jaguars offense picked up right where it left off and I get it it was
42:59but you know the Browns are not the Browns of old no Miles Garrett but still Brenton Strange is going to be
43:05the starting tight end and playing a lot of uh playing a lot of snaps for one of the better offenses in
43:11the NFL so we always kind of like Brenton Strange we know Trevor Lawrence likes the middle of the field we saw
43:17it with Barker Washington Brenton Strange also uh had a nice game on Sunday how about prior Pat Friermuth I actually I
43:23don't think this is that fluky with Friermuth given though the way McCarthy likes to call games and how Rogers you know
43:30like he expanded his average depth of target but still Friermuth sort of expand you know um uh moving past that that
43:36triple tight end head that we had in Pittsburgh last year I actually don't think Friermuth is that fluky what's that yeah
43:42I'm with you I actually wish I would have held in a little bit more in the preseason because I initially before
43:48we had any games I was like oh Friermuth could be due for a bounce back because of McCarthy because that he
43:54likes to use just one tight end primarily because he runs a lot of three wide so I was with you and
44:00then we got reports and then we saw some action and people covering the team and I'm not we value them they're
44:07great what they do but there was a lot saying I still might see Darnell Washington eh Friermuth might not be on
44:13the field all the time and I pulled back a little bit and that's why I'm with you on that to come
44:19back because I think Friermuth isn't as fluky as people might think I was going to say I actually really like your
44:25call as your number three name on your list there Kenyon Sadiq that is a great he's on the heels of Mason
44:31Taylor already already in one game and we know the talent potential and then again no more no Omar Cooper he could
44:37be the number three option this team in a week or two yeah I mean like the fact that they gave him
44:44the goal line carry you know um you know super athletic and the concern on Sadiq was just how good is this
44:50offense going to be and is he healthy well obviously healthy you know obviously health I mean with the talent profiles off
44:56the charts and the offense looked competent now they're not always going to play Tennessee every week but still uh I mean
45:02you know Gino is as long as Gino's like the 20th best quarterback in the NFL the Jets will be fine the
45:08Jets that we care about Garrett Wilson Brees Hall obviously but I'm in on AD Mitchell and Kenyon Sadiq I think just
45:15because the talent and um the usage there as well so we mentioned I'm all over the place so you mentioned Sadiq
45:21there Friermuth again we've seen Friermuth be successful in the NFL I wish I wish every time I mentioned Gunnar Helm in
45:27the preseason I'd actually mentioned Pat Friermuth that would have been the better call here you know I want to mention Mike
45:33Gasicki just because we like the player somewhat he was actually tight in five and utilization score in week one but only
45:39played 46 percent of the routes but right looking at it it does feel like he's going to be the number three
45:45pass catcher for Joe Burrow and the Bengals and that's worth something that's the intriguing part it really comes down to I
45:52would try and it's always dangerous especially with tight ends but I would try to play matchups because you and everybody watching
45:58saw that game the Buccaneers went in with one game plan it's like try to stop Chase and Higgins and they did
46:04it so much so that there was two egregious pass interferences that got overlooked so they just went out there like we're
46:10just stopping them too you do whatever else you want I don't think that happens every single week mostly not because Gasicki
46:16can't be the three that's where I agree with you it's what you brought up as the concern is that he wasn't
46:22even out there for 50 percent of the route so hopefully we see a little bit of an uptick but that's where
46:29you try to play the matchups with Gasicki yeah you know by the way I um uh as I try to defend
46:35my flex league best ball title I have a uh in that league it's a 14 team league uh I have a
46:41Burrow Chase Gasicki stack like my last week in that draft was Gasicki and just like I was you know it's like
46:47it's super deep it's 14 teams and it's a best ball league so I don't know you tell me Jake it's something
46:53like 20 rounds 22 rounds or something like that I forget what exactly settings you you put in there but um it's
46:59uh that that helps you that helps you overcome week one to stay like you're only I mean you're like fifth only
47:06because not even with Burrow and Chase not doing Burrow and Chase things that's right I'm fifth you know after week one
47:12I'm very happy uh especially given the fact that Burrow and Chase uh underperformed but I'm so scared of you I went
47:18to the other best ball flex league and there I'm in first place in the other one nice good job smart smart
47:24good avoid me um and then the last tight end on my list here Jake is Michael Mayer now listen caveats because
47:30there's a chance that Bowers comes back but in a world where um in a world where Bowers has to miss another
47:37week we do like Michael Mayer here again at the at end of this list there's a lot of sort of tight
47:43ends that we prefer ahead of him but you know he could be usable for another week if Bowers is to miss
47:49time absolutely no question about it he's essentially the number two because the number one's Ashton Gentty it's unbelievable uh hey if
47:55you play in a league that still uses defenses and kickers I'm not going to give you kicker waivers but I will
48:01give you some streamable defenses we like the 49ers this week they're at the Miami Dolphins right you see it there how
48:07about the Buccaneers home to Deshaun Watson and the Browns and then the Packers get to go to the Jets tougher matchup
48:14for New York this week uh so uh Geno Smith gets to face uh the Green Bay defense it's at home it
48:20is the home opener but uh we think the Packers should be able to get after it so um those the defensive
48:26ads uh as well Jake so what do you um what do you have going on at the athletic way too much
48:32uh the waivers ranks all those articles the podcast all in speed run this I try to keep it 20 minutes or
48:38less all the time just because there's enough great shows like yours that are out there like this is let's get my
48:44niche that like get in and out so you can do it on the car ride but other than that is watching
48:51uh the flex leagues just watching the chaos involved in that I love that hey if anyone in the chat has a
48:57waiver question we got about five minutes left um yeah you've got uh you've got access to the all-in kid himself Jake
49:03Seeley does that count are you like a poker big are you a big like poker player is that where that comes
49:09from 100 which is why I haven't gotten rid of it even though you know I'm definitely a man at this point
49:15it came from when I first started playing Texas Hold'em the very first time I played a tournament and you know when
49:22you don't know you're like oh we'll just go all in is the better move whether you have hands or not you
49:28just so we were playing a giant tournament and this is a group of friends that had nicknames for everybody there was
49:34one guy who's named Don Ho-Ho's who actually gave me the name and we're sitting there and after about the 16th time
49:40I did it the dude just sits back you go damn all in kid and then it stuck ever ever since then
49:46there you go so how much so uh let's see uh k8s kates kate's asks line up uh kate's lineup oh there
49:52you go how much fab on veille so what percentage of fab would you spend on Devon veille that's a good one
49:59for me I think I'd say 15 percent I think that's too much uh my range I was gonna say 8 to 12.
50:05so you're slightly higher I think if 15 is if you're needy if you need somebody to start right now maybe you
50:11already have an injury is a flowers if he's out um but I we do know you brought it up earlier like
50:17the tyson the ticking clock is coming at some point we don't know when you might get seven weeks you might only
50:24get five um you might get the full season so I want to be semi-aggressive but I don't want to go too
50:30crazy yeah no I agree with that I agree with semi-aggressive but not too crazy so 10 to you know 10 to
50:3612 is probably 8 to 12 is probably right um uh as uh let's see uh Tyler Tyler Knowles says prioritize Kaylin
50:42Black or Emmett Johnson I think it's Kaylin Black 100 percent 100 percent but I do think Emmett Johnson as you said
50:48made it clear that he's the next one up but I think he would share more with uh with anybody like um
50:54Brashard Smith then we would see the share workload for Kaylin Black well also by the way there's a chance that Kaylin
51:01Black has um non-injury you know like that he could be usable even in a world where CMC isn't injured like just
51:07again they try to lower the maybe they do you know we saw CMC lineup as a as a receiver a lot
51:13of times you could see scenarios where both of them are in the backfield together you could see them you know that
51:19Kaylin Black carves out a Blake Corum-ish 10 touch roll in this offense every week even with CMC healthy Emmett Johnson I
51:25just can't imagine a scenario where he becomes fantasy viable as long as Ken Walker's healthy so to me they waited and
51:32waited and waited to give Emmett Johnson touches like basically like it was still like it's already out of hand and they're
51:38like yeah we're still gonna keep going Kenneth Walker for a little bit longer so uh Greg Lau 100 says how much
51:44fab on Carson Wentz if I own Kyler Murray and he's still in concussion protocol I mean like I would have to
51:50say if um I mean like for me like a dollar like it depends on how deep I mean if it's a
51:56two quarterback league and there's just no viable guys on the uh on the waiver wire but I just he's still Carson
52:02Wentz like we like him we like him this week at the Bears um but I don't know that I would I
52:09wouldn't want to spend a lot of money on Carson Wentz because I just feel like you should be able to get
52:15a usable court quarterback you should like you said unless it's super flex or two QB and there's nothing else out there
52:21they yeah one buck I mean Carson Wentz going belly up against the Bears defense wouldn't shock us either it shouldn't happen
52:27but I mean it's not a quarterback that you're gonna lock in and be like there's no chance that happens this is
52:33a good one this will be our last one because we're a minute 40 left Jake but Dos Gurley's One Cup says
52:39what types of players should I offer for AJ Brown uh what where would you rank AJ Brown rest the season right
52:46now if you did a draft today AJ Brown we assume he's gonna miss at least a month like where where is
52:52AJ Brown and then what kind of players would you offer for him yeah oh I think it sounds more like it's
52:58like six weeks now too so I guess I'd say fringe wide receiver too just because you got to take what's in
53:04front of you and right now uh you know if we're talking Ted Irwin-Camillen I would take him even though he looked
53:10kind of slow in that game and I think Coker is gonna push him Terry McLaurin or AJ Brown playing a mini
53:16main game name game here I'd take AJ Brown but that would be only if Terry is my like three or four
53:23and I went wide receiver deep and I can afford it like the Terry stuff if Terry is you're locked in two
53:29or three and your next wide receiver is eh I'm holding Terry right uh AJ Brown or like Quinton Johnston who didn't
53:35do much but we expect a brown but yeah I agree so I think he's I think you're right I think he's
53:41I think AJ Brown's probably in the two wide receiver high-end wide receiver three low-end wide receiver two but that's kind of
53:47the range of what I would offer him there as well Jake we will all follow you on x at all in
53:54kid and we will check out all of your work at The Athletic you do great work my friend I appreciate you
54:00and I look forward to you sending me another flex trophy at the end of the year uh tomorrow I am out
54:06actually tomorrow Pete Overzet and Matthew Friedman take over I've got to go shake some hands and kiss some babies at an
54:12upfront tomorrow so for Jake I'm Matthew we'll see you tomorrow peace out you
