0:00This is Justin Herbert with the Sonic Truth Dynasty Podcast.
0:03And then off we go with the show. And you did just a fantastic trade, an absolute monster of a trade.
0:09And so I just, you know, we got to get it up here on the on the screen right now.
0:15I flashed a startup draft just to give everyone that's watching on Facebook, follow us on Facebook, subscribe on YouTube.
0:21If you're on YouTube right now, like the show.
0:24Hey, if you're on, if you're watching this on X, retweet it.
0:27I'm going to retweet it right now. So we'll all retweet it together.
0:31If we're all watching this thing on X live, we can retweet it together.
0:35It'd be really fun. Get everybody, get everybody watching, get everybody commenting.
0:39We got comments pouring in. We'll handle some comments as we go.
0:42We get some, we have, we have some, we have some really interesting trades.
0:47One that I did that I, I regret. So that's always fun to see.
0:51You know, we talk, we talk about, oh, you crushed your podfather.
0:54Oh, you know, another win for the pot. No, this one.
0:58No, no, this one I instantly regretted. It was one of those things where I saw the alert come in and I
1:04was like, I hope that's not the trade I proposed.
1:07Please be a counter. Please be a counter. I was like, please be a counter.
1:12Don't, don't. I was, I was, I was, I was doing a lot of things, right?
1:16I wasn't in the proper state of mind, which is all just cautionary tale that you all need to know.
1:22These are cautionary tales that I'm sharing so that you don't make the same mistakes I make.
1:27But then we also can talk about some of the trades we do where there are smashes.
1:32And then you please, by all means do exactly what I do in those situations.
1:37So now we have this trade. So we, again, we did this little startup draft come and I teased it briefly on
1:43the screen, but now let's, let's, let's pull up this trade that you did.
1:48We've got to kick this off giant trade, giant trade.
1:50Cody gives up Jameer Gibbs, Garrett Wilson, Terry McLaurin, giant hall.
1:54He gets back Tett McMillan and a 2027 first, a 2028 first, and yet another 2027 first.
1:59So two 2027 firsts, you happen to be trading with someone who had two 2027 firsts, which is not common.
2:05And then you also had the firepower, the assets that they wanted to make a deal happen.
2:10This is just so rare that you get to see a trade like this out in the wild that someone on a podcast actually executed in real life.
2:18Let's talk about it. So this specific team I picked up as an orphan, but two and a half, three weeks ago, maybe.
2:25And it's not, it's not great. I mean, it's not good.
2:28Christian Kirk is like a starting wide receiver on this roster.
2:31If that kind of gives you a little bit of an idea, do have Cortland Sutton for what that's worth these days,
2:38but kind of the cornerstones of this roster is Tyler Warren.
2:41I got Bo Nix a quarterback. It is tight in premium.
2:45So it's a positive for Tyler Warren side. I got a little Sam Laporta, which I hate.
2:50I got a Baker Mayfield as my super flex backup quarterback.
2:53And then everything else after this is putrid. So I had Gibbs and Wilson and McLaurin on that roster as well.
2:59And I just decided to, you know, do the thing where you, you know, go into sleeper and click add to trade
3:06block, add to trade block, add to trade block.
3:08And you just filter the chat with the guys on trade block.
3:12Right. And I got an offer back and this isn't the first one, but we kind of went back and forth.
3:18I think five, six, seven times and ended up here.
3:21Let me guess. Let me guess. Let me guess.
3:24Let me guess. Let me guess. Let me guess.
3:26Let me guess. Let me guess. One of your offers had Sutton instead of McLaurin and they rejected it.
3:32Yeah. Okay. Here it is. Well, so I rejected it.
3:35This one, this was like so long. It was yeah.
3:38It's not even worth. There's like eight guys included, but Sutton was one of the guys that was included.
3:44This thing came way down. I'm shocked. You didn't unload Sutton in this deal.
3:48I've tried to Sutton and Kelsey are on my like to do list.
3:52They are radioactive right now. It's actually easier to move Kelsey now than it is Sutton.
3:56Facts. That's a hundred percent. That's a hundred percent.
3:59People go to our dynasty rankings, dynasty deluxe on player profiler, and they can't believe the lifetime value rating of Cortland Sutton.
4:06And I'm like, well, prove me wrong. Whenever people, you know, we have the best dynasty rankings that I've ever been.
4:12And it is like, I'm always like, you know, whether it's, you're using the dynasty dominator app to, to analyze trades.
4:18Or you're looking at rankings, you're in a startup, whatever it is.
4:22I always come back to people that question certain rankings or certain lifetime value ratings.
4:26And I'm like, well, just show me the deal or show me the value.
4:30It show me, explain to me, lay out with evidence that there is demand for this player that I'm missing.
4:36And with Cortland Sutton, it's like cricket. There's nothing there.
4:39It's getting an offer or sending an offer. It's just like, you literally don't get anything back.
4:44You know, they didn't sometimes reply to it. The Kelsey side, I've at least gotten offers for.
4:49Um, I, I probably could have entertained this one.
4:52It was Kelsey in a second for Jake Ferguson and a third probably could entertain that I didn't, but nonetheless, it came back.
4:59This was the deal that happened. I got McLaurin.
5:01I got two picks next year, a pick in 2028.
5:04I gave up McLaurin. My thoughts behind McLaurin. He's into his thirties and whatever happens with the IUC stuff really didn't have a lot of hindrance on this.
5:13I do think they add, you know, a digs or a Keenan Allen or something for this year and long-term the way this roster is built.
5:20It's not ready to compete today, tomorrow, hopefully in 2028.
5:23At that point, I don't think McLaurin is going to be much of a factor.
5:28Garrett Wilson needs a quarterback there. I think he's, he's in a good spot, but he's kind of in the McLaurin thing
5:34where he's, he's good enough, but will he, he reach apex?
5:38We'll find out if he gets a quarterback, like, you know, like a Dante Moore next year or a CJ car, someone
5:44who's going to really elevate this situation. He can have that McLaurin level, you know, last two years that we've seen.
5:50I don't know if it'll happen or not. I have belief, but I also feel like I'm in the same boat with McLaurin or sorry with McMillan.
5:58And then the Gibbs thing, the Gibbs thing is the whole, like you can circle Gibbs on this and just say, why, why'd you do this?
6:06And my simple answer is kind of exactly what I just said with McLaurin is this team's not really ready to compete today.
6:13And I think in two years when I'm ready to compete, I'll have the ammunition in these drafts to go out and get myself.
6:20These next two draft classes are going to be strong at running back.
6:24And I'm cool with that. Will they be Gibbs?
6:27Probably not. But the last time we saw a guy of this, this talent level start a career with a pop, right?
6:33With some real flash was McCaffrey back in 2017, 2018.
6:36He loses Jonathan Stewart, 2019. He takes over the sport and that's a lot of workload.
6:41And will they give him that workload? It sure seems like it with Pacheco there.
6:45Pacheco is not going to do a lot. And if, and if they start giving Gibbs 400 touches, I listen, I might miss out on a historic season.
6:54But this team's not going to do anything with that.
6:57Meet me starting Jameer Gibbs next to Audrick SMA.
6:59Like what's that going to do for me? Jameer Gibbs was burning a hole in your pocket.
7:04Yeah. And I, and I three first round picks, man.
7:07Listen, Moneyball Nola. We love Moneyball Nola. He runs some incredible dynasty leagues.
7:11And in some of them, he's one of the best commissioners out there.
7:15We, we've, we've, we've talked about, we've compared him to the worst commissioner and he's the best.
7:20And we've had that conversation. Great to have him in the chat.
7:24Yeah. It's, it's a very difficult thing to let go of Jameer Gibbs and get quote unquote full value.
7:29It's possible. It's possible. But when you need three firsts, that's what he's worth.
7:34He's worth at least three firsts. Who has three firsts?
7:37Well, suddenly you're talking about a market of two people.
7:39Okay. And now you've got, hopefully one of those people is in win now mode.
7:44Now you need to find a person in win now mode.
7:47That's willing to give these picks up. That has, that, that has the firepower to make it happen.
7:53Now you might be down to one person. So it's, there's no market, right?
7:57There's almost no market for Jameer Gibbs from fantasy league to fantasy league.
8:01At most the market is two teams, two teams.
8:03You'd have to either be willing to not accept firsts and accept players back.
8:07The problem is this last class of rookies is not compelling.
8:11Makai Lemon. Is that the same as a future first?
8:14Barely. I just acquired Makai Lemon essentially for a second round pick.
8:17We talked about it on the trade God show.
8:20Go just type in trade gods, wherever you watch podcasts, listen to podcasts and you can listen to how I ended up
8:26acquiring Makai Lemon for not a lot. It's, it's very possible that everyone's so down on the 2026 class.
8:32They're very, they're very bullish on the 2027 class.
8:35So if two of those picks are going to be 2027 picks, you got to give up a lot to get them.
8:41And it's an incredibly limited market. When you take over these orphans, you have to be ready to punt value.
8:47You can't be, you don't, you don't have the luxury of sitting back and just letting the league come to you.
8:53When we take over these orphans, one of the great challenges is we walk into essentially a frozen market for a lot
9:00of our players, especially if we have one or two keystone players left where it's like the shining light on the roster.
9:06And then everything else is sort of an add on is an afterthought player.
9:11Well, the sharks will circle and they know you're in that position.
9:14They know you have to let this asset go because if you don't, he's just going to expire on your roster.
9:20Having never won a championship. You have to use this one asset that you have to start to rebuild.
9:26I've done the same thing, not the exact same trade, but I've, I've had to let a cornerstone player go in order
9:33to create sort of an asset library that I can then use for other trades.
9:37I can then try to hit on a player where, okay, I get a bunch of assets and maybe one of them becomes some elite player.
9:45And then if that happens, if I hit on that, then now suddenly I can flip that player for a bunch more assets.
9:52And now we can start to play a game where I'm laddering up and I'm laddering up.
9:57But if you never make that initial trade, we're technically maybe based, maybe go to the dynasty dominator app and you look
10:03at the, the, the trade analyzer and you're losing the trade, but it's the only trade partner that even exists in your league.
10:10And you've been going back and forth eight iterations.
10:13You have to just do it. You have to just do the deal, close your eyes, do it, push the button and start the rebuilding process.
10:20It feels gross. It's uncomfortable. And you may be mocked, right?
10:24I, you get a side eye emojis in the chat.
10:27What are you going to do, man? I did your league a favor.
10:31I took over an orphan. No one wanted that was shit.
10:34And I'm trying to make lemonade out of lemons over here.
10:37You think you could have done a better job?
10:40Why didn't, what did you know? Why don't we trade teams then?
10:43Oh no, you don't want to trade. Oh, I know why you want to trade.
10:48Yeah. Okay. Sorry, money ball Nola. But like that criticism that he didn't get enough doesn't resonate as someone that's taken over 20 orphans in 20 days.
10:56Fuck out of here, man. He's doing his best.
10:58Good trade Cody. And I'll add one thing to this.
11:01And I, and I, and I will say Gerard Dean had a great point that I'm, that I'm going to hit on.
11:08Plus the intentional tank results of 2027, one-on-one, which my team is square in the place for now and is one of
11:15those other 2027 firsts square facing being a top five pick top four pick.
11:19So when I look at this and that other, that other one's going to be probably like 10th or 11th, it's, it's a championship competing team.
11:26Um, when I look at it from that perspective, I say in super flex, I'm, I'm potentially walking away from this deal
11:33with McLaurin, with Jeremiah Smith and with a quarterback.
11:36And like a real, like there's a real path to that.
11:39Not just like, Oh, fairy land. Like this could happen.
11:42No, like I'm really going to be a top.
11:45I'm going to be one or two period. So it's either going to be quarterback or Smith.
11:50And then that other pick is either going to be one, two, three, or four, which will be quarterback.
11:55Let me ask the audience a question. Okay. You're in this position.
11:59You're in Cody's position. You're engaged with the one other manager in your league who happens to have two 2027 firsts that wants to do business with you.
12:07And you're trying to give up Sutton instead of Wilson.
12:10So my one sort of bit of advice on this would be if, if you had not gone back and forth six
12:17times, now that I know you went back and forth and you were iterating and iterating and iterating, the criticism really falls away because you did your best.
12:25You had to do something and you did your best and good job.
12:29If this was like the first or second volley, my, my only feedback would have been, would have been nice.
12:35If you could have swapped out Garrett Wilson for Cortland Sutton in this deal, because that would have made it much more fair.
12:42And it would have given your competitor to win.
12:44Now wide receiver assets plus Gibbs, and then having Ted McMillan on the other side would have offset.
12:50It would have done a great job offsetting it because it's just almost impossible to find a trade partner that has the
12:56requisite picks to, to let go of a Jameer Gibbs without getting players back in return.
13:01You did get Ted McMillan back in return, but you did give up Garrett Wilson.
13:05You did give up Terry McLaurin. You gave up a lot.
13:09Ideally, this trade would have been a smash if it were Sutton, not Garrett Wilson.
13:13I'm guessing that was one of the early versions of this trade that got rejected.
13:17And if it gets rejected, what are you going to do?
13:21You're going to have to find a way to get the trade done.
13:25And if you have to add Garrett Wilson, you got to add Garrett Wilson.
13:29That's the math. That's how, I mean, that's how, that's how the bread gets buttered.
13:33And sometimes it's not, you know, like you said, you're going to get hate for it.
13:38I posted this thing on Twitter and it got like 60 some replies of like, you're an idiot.
13:43And I was like, well, that's fine. You don't know the whole roster.
13:47I didn't post the whole roster. You're not supposed to understand how I'm planning to build this roster or what's happening.
13:53So I get it. Like you could probably have gotten more out of Gibbs, but I'm content.
13:58And that's all that really matters to me. I just think we explained the dynamics behind rebuilding an orphan team back to competitiveness.
14:05You have to make some compromises. You have to do some things that are uncomfortable.
14:10And you could just, just punt money away into infinity and never make a deal.
14:14And maybe with the right draft picks and the right free agent pickups, you can get to the middle.
14:20Congratulations. You're in the middle, but you're taking your mate.
14:23You're taking swings. And if these picks hit three years from now, be looking back and being, oh my God, look, how
14:29did he, how did he build the super team?
14:32Look at all these young studs. How did he do that?
14:35And then you could trace back the breadcrumbs to the original seed of the super team was Jameer Gibbs.
14:41Maybe. Remember when that guy gave me Jameer Gibbs and I won the championship three years in a row?
14:47Maybe. Maybe, maybe. Maybe. Well, I'm on the other side of Jameer Gibbs in that I just acquired Jameer Gibbs.
14:53So I'm, I'm ready to, I'm ready to rock with Jameer Gibbs.
14:56And I also let me, I'm going to pull this up right now.
15:00We're going to pull up a little, little startup that I'm in, uh, where, uh, my first pick overall was one Jameer Gibbs.
15:07And to be clear, Jameer Gibbs is amazing. Jameer Gibbs is the one-on-one Jameer, single quarterback.
15:12Like he is going to be a complete and utter monster.
15:15He is the new Christian McCaffrey, but Christian McCaffrey was never on this lion's team.
15:19Like imagine Christian McCaffrey on this lion's team. We've never seen anything like that.
15:23That means this is one of the, one of the most high octane offenses with one of the worst defenses, one of
15:30the most optimal fantasy point scoring scenarios you could possibly drop in fiction.
15:34This is a 30 points per game player. That's his ceiling.
15:37And we haven't seen anything like it since Christian McCaffrey.
15:40We may never see it again, but we have this gift right now in Jameer Gibbs right now.
15:45We need to get him. Unfortunately, Cody's taken over an orphan and this guy would have been toiling away in obscurity.
15:52This Jameer Gibbs on his team. So he really didn't have the utility that he has for any other, any other team.
15:58When I get a guy like Jameer Gibbs and I'm looking at a potential 30 point per game season, I want to go win.
16:05So you can see that's what I did. I ended up getting Herbert in round two.
16:10The reason I went Gibbs is because I thought I could get Herbert in round two at the 209.
16:16And that's what I did. I went 104 Gibbs after Bijan was selected and then Herbert at the 209.
16:21Thank God. Jackson Dart actually got picked before him, as did Malik Neighbors.
16:25So I was very happy to see that. And then somehow, some way, A-Chan made it back to me.
16:31D-Von A-Chan. And then I reached a little bit for Flowers because I was getting sniped on players like Carnell Tate, Olave, Wilson, Egbuka all went.
16:39So I had to go with Zay Flowers, who I love.
16:42Love him. Happy to reach around in a reach around.
16:45Reach around. Reach around. Yeah, I reached around. Yeah.
16:47Yeah. Yeah. You know. So reach around for one Zay Flowers in round four.
16:52Happy to do it. And then you get a gift, right?
16:55I was considering A.J. Brown or Zay Flowers. And then A.J.
16:58Brown's there, right? I was like, oh, man, I'm going to draft Herbert here.
17:02But, man, A-Chan would be nice. Then A-Chan makes it back in round three.
17:06So this is one of those drafts where the guy I was thinking about drafting was between two players.
17:12That's the beauty of being at, like, the 109 or the 104 is that when it comes back around you, a lot
17:19of times, you can get both guys you wanted.
17:21And this has happened to me several times in this particular draft.
17:25Tight end premium. Ended up getting pits somehow in round six.
17:28So it's stark two receivers. So we have Flowers and Brown at the wide receiver position.
17:33We have Gibbs and A.J. At the running back position.
17:36Herbert at the quarterback position. Pitts at the tight end position.
17:39And then at the flex, Derek Henry. And then Matt Stafford at the 809 in super flex.
17:44And then Mike Evans and Chris Godwin to round out the flex positions.
17:48And then on my bench, 1104. I've never seen him last this long.
17:52And I was happy to get him. Jonathan Brooks.
17:55And then Mac Jones at the 1209. We'll talk about Mac Jones in a minute.
17:5913.04. J.K. Dobbins made it all the way to 13.04.
18:02He was actually, he was there even after Tyrone Tracy, Kenneth Gainwell, Ramadre Stevenson, who we'll talk about later.
18:08Krosky Merritt, Jordan Mason. They all went before J.K.
18:10Dobbins. And I'm like, okay. I guess I'll take J.K.
18:13I'll take J.K. Dobbins. And then another player that I was not prepared to draft because I didn't think he would be
18:20there at the 1409 was Trey Harris. So that's the team.
18:23That's the startup. That's what we're looking at. We're going to go win, but we're not going to sacrifice the future either.
18:30Sell me on Zay Flowers over Nico Collins at the 4-9.
18:33What? Nico Collins? Nico Collins is undraftable. I wouldn't draft Nico Collins in any format at any time anywhere.
18:39Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me?
18:42They drafted a redundant asset and they could be one of the lowest volume teams in the league.
18:47They brought in David Montgomery. All the reasons I love Jameer Gibbs are the same reasons I do not like anyone in
18:54this Texans passing game with the possible exception of a healthy Tank Dell.
18:58Tank Dell gets healthy at this ADP. I'm in.
19:01I'm in. But no, I'm not drafting Nico Collins.
19:03I'm not drafting any of these guys. I don't want Dalton Schultz.
19:07I certainly don't want C.J. Stroud. This team is not even committed to Stroud yet.
19:11They're actively slow playing C.J. Stroud. And he knows it.
19:14His agent has said, listen, you have to become a new man.
19:18You have to be a new guy. You have to haircut, work habits.
19:22Everything has to change. Yes, sir. No, sir. To the coaches.
19:25You have to have a whole new approach. They brought in a stylist and a personality coach.
19:30They brought in the whole thing. Personal trainer. Nutritionist.
19:33Because hundreds of millions of dollars are at stake, Cody.
19:36So if you're his agent, it's like, out of my own pocket, I'll pay for all of this.
19:41Please, for the love of God, play ball with the Texans this year.
19:45And the Texans are like, well, that's great and all.
19:48And I hope you're efficient. And maybe we can extend you based on the efficiency.
19:52But you're not going to get the volume this year because we learned our lesson last year.
19:57We got out over our skis with the pass rate made no sense.
20:01Our pass rate made no sense based on their personnel.
20:04And then when you see that, and then in the offseason, they actively talk about it.
20:09They talk about we are now a run and play defense team.
20:12We brought in David Montgomery to do that. So dial back all of the volume for all of these guys in the passing game.
20:20So that's why, no thanks to Nico Collins. He has a lot of target competition there on a low-volume offense or projected to be low-volume offense.
20:27Because some offenses that were higher volume last year, they go up and down year to year.
20:32That's our job as analysts is to decide which teams are going up, which teams are going down, to find the directionality
20:39of these teams and their offenses in particular. And we at Player Profiler have made the determination that the directionality of the
20:45Houston offense is going to go run, run, run, run, run, run.
20:49That's why we're all in on David Montgomery, happy to draft some Woody Marks, like some Tank Dell.
20:54And that's pretty much a wrap on that. On the other hand, Zay Flowers has almost no target competition.
21:00I mean, they're letting everybody go. Like, no, Isaiah, likely, like Mark Andrews, yes, please.
21:04But that's the one guy. Their running back doesn't catch passes.
21:08No Kohler, no likely. Probably more three-receiver sets now because of that.
21:11This is maybe the one team that plays more three-receiver sets this year.
21:15The entire NFL. And it just all sets up for a complete and utter smash season for a guy that was already over 1,200 yards last year.
21:23So, yeah, I'm all in on Zay Flowers. He is young.
21:26He's only 25 years old. I mean, let's go, dude.
21:29I disagree with about 80% of that, other than the fact that I am in lockstep on the Houston plan of attack,
21:36which is have the number one defense in the sport, run the hell out of the football like you did two years
21:42ago with Joe Mixon, with David Montgomery this time, assuming those legs stay, which I do think they will through the year.
21:49But I completely disagree with saying that Jaden Higgins is a redundant asset with Nico Collins.
21:54Jaden Higgins is a okay number two. He is not compatible to Nico Collins.
21:58They don't have real, real target competition. I mean, you can say Dalton Schultz might press 100 targets.
22:03Sure. But that happened last year. I love Tank Dell.
22:06He's not back. He's not going to be what Tank Dell was two years ago.
22:11And even if he was, remember during that 700-yard season, that was Nico Collins' best season to date, was two years ago
22:17when he, I think he had 1,200 and maybe 1,300 yards and eight touchdowns.
22:21Like this part of CJ Stroud taking that step forward, I think, is them being able to run the football and get
22:28back to throwing more play action and get back to pushing the ball further downfield to back when we saw Nico Collins
22:34average north of 16 yards per reception a couple of years ago and have more people like Dalton Schultz and maybe Jalen
22:41Oler inside of Play Football or read a playbook and run the football and allow opportunities to push that football downfield to
22:47the only guy that can get downfield and stretch it, which is Nico Collins on this roster.
22:52And on the other side, in Baltimore, like, so, you know, I wrote some names down looking at the dynasty rankings.
22:59Coincidentally enough, I wrote down both Zay Flowers and Nico Collins, right?
23:02What the hell are we doing with Zay Flowers and Nico Collins right here?
23:06Because Zay Flowers, listen, I've loved Zay Flowers since Boston College and it's the Shrine Bowl.
23:11Like, I've loved Zay Flowers. Big fan, right? Don't quite understand the projection of potentially putting this guy anywhere near the top
23:1812 in dynasty, the wide receiver position right now.
23:20Like, what Baltimore is, they bring in Declan Doyle, who spent last year with the Chicago Bears.
23:25The Chicago Bears took a step forward. He worked with Ben Johnson.
23:29I get it. Derrick Henry's still there. Derrick Henry's still going to take on 250 carries.
23:34Lamar Jackson's still going to run the ball 120 times.
23:37Maybe. They're still run first. Mark Andrews is still in this offense.
23:40Like, I know Isaiah likely is gone, but Mark Andrews is still the number one option in this offense, in the passing game for Lamar Jackson.
23:48So not only the number one option is Derrick Henry, the number two option is Mark Andrews.
23:53The number three option is running the football with Lamar Jackson.
23:56Then you talk about going to the wide receiver position.
23:59Zay Flowers is the number one, no question. A lot of those games, Lamar Jackson wasn't even there.
24:05I'm more worried about Zay Flowers competing and worrying about target share coming from Elijah Surratt.
24:09Oh my God. I'm more worried about Elijah Surratt and Jacoby Lane.
24:13Day three wide receivers and coach talk. I'm more worried about Elijah Surratt.
24:17Clip this. I don't care. Elijah Surratt and Jacoby Lane worry me more than Jaden Higgins and Jalen Knoll in Houston.
24:23I like Jalen Knoll a lot. I just wish he wasn't buried on the Houston roster.
24:28I wish he could read a playbook. They really liked him during OTAs.
24:32He was the standout wide receiver in OTAs. There's a lot of players that need targets that are good in Houston.
24:38They don't exist in Baltimore. Yeah, rookies, Jacoby Lane, maybe.
24:41You're telling me a story. You're projecting. The offensive coordinator.
24:44Listen, I just pull up the numbers. I look at the vacated targets.
24:48I look at the number of years of experience these guys have, and I just can't tell myself a story that day
24:54three picks are going to come out and command a bunch of targets or somehow cannibalize anything from Zay Flowers.
25:00Not going to happen, man. This is going to be the Zay Flowers show when Lamar Jackson drops back.
25:06He's not going to run as much. He's going to throw more.
25:09That's what's going to happen this year. It happens with every quarterback.
25:13Even Lamar Jackson is going to have to start to throw more as he gets older.
25:18It's a tale as old as time. There's not a single quarterback out there that decided, okay, maybe Doug Flutie.
25:24Maybe there's a quarterback you can find that ran more as he aged, but that's not how it works.
25:29So when we had the apex season from Lamar Jackson in 2023, he got that completion percentage to a career high 67%, right?
25:36Sure. It's went down the last two years, 66 to 63.
25:39And in the correlation with running the football, 148 carries that 2023 season done, 139 down to 67 last year, played fewer
25:46games, was on pace for about a hundred. So let's just say he runs a hundred times and the rushing keeps coming down.
25:53He hasn't been more accurate. He's gotten less accurate.
25:55He had one of the worst accuracy seasons of his career last year and he's running less.
26:00It was a lost season for Lamar. That's part of the case for Zay Flowers.
26:05His last season was a lost season for Lamar.
26:08I still don't think that that correlates to success.
26:10Yes. Surratt, you don't love Zay Flowers. You don't.
26:13You don't like Zay Flowers at all. If you love Zay Flowers, he is in a situation where the number two option
26:19in the passing game is Mark Andrews, who is holding on to his NFL career by his fingernails and a running back
26:26that is one of the most notoriously poor pass catchers in the history of the NFL and guys that are not even drafted in fantasy.
26:33That's the target competition. What are you doing, dude?
26:36You don't like this guy. You hate Zay Flowers.
26:39I don't hate Zay Flowers, but what I will say is I'm also looking at an offense that's going to throw the
26:45ball still 75 fewer times than what Houston's going to.
26:48My mantra this year is I listen to the coaches and the front office when they talk.
26:53I don't imbue special skills that they have a playbook and special sorcery that no other coaches have.
26:59I don't look at it like that. Oh, he got coach X.
27:02That means it's going to be a lot more efficient this year.
27:06No, no, no. What I look at this year more than I could.
27:10We'll see. This is a big test for this particular theory, but especially early in the year in spring heading into the draft.
27:17These coaches, when they're interviewed at the combine, for example, they will talk openly about their philosophy and their team identity.
27:23These are things that they have no incentive to lie about, and it's something that they actually can control.
27:28The thing that the coaches can control the most that affects fantasy football is play calling and specifically run versus pass, run versus pass, run versus pass.
27:36So then I go through all 32 teams and I say, okay, looking at the pass rate of these 32 teams, which
27:43were the most incongruent based on what these coaches and general managers are saying is the team identity and their off season moves.
27:50And it stacks up as high as it's going to get in Houston, the incongruency where it's both the bringing in of David Montgomery.
27:57It's all of the talk. It's not just the talk of the coaches.
28:01It's listening to sports radio. It's your own fault, dude.
28:04You turn me on to Houston talk radio and they've been talking about this and you know this.
28:09They can't wait to see David Montgomery, right? It's just different.
28:12Like you listen to a fantasy podcast. They're going to talk about Nico Collins.
28:17Yep. You listen to a sports, like a sports bro podcast, a fan podcast from with like guys from Houston.
28:22They're going to talk about David Montgomery and they're going to make fun of CJ Stroud.
28:27That's what they're going to do. You know that that's, that's how they do it.
28:32And so I'm, you know, maybe that's maybe, maybe I've been infected by Houston talk radio.
28:36They're so down on CJ Stroud. It's comical. I couldn't possibly be that down on him.
28:41Maybe that's infecting my brain somehow. Uh, but we, we sit down with a bunch of guys here at player profiler and you know, Bradley and many others.
28:49And we, we look at the volume that we're projecting and we debate it.
28:54And this is just where we came out on it.
28:57And it's one it's Nico Collins is one of the flag bear players where his current ADP in all formats is simply
29:03based on a volume, a team volume, past volume projection that we can't justify.
29:07And that ends up creating a situation where when you're following our rankings at player profile.com, you're just not going to get a lot of Nico Collins.
29:15And, you know, we'll check back, you know, at some point in the season, maybe week four, week five.
29:21We'll see how we're doing on that. You may not get any Nico Collins, but I know you're going to get a hundred percent ownership in Zay flowers.
29:29I will say that this is what's happening with me.
29:32You're exactly right. I look at my exposure of the elite players.
29:36Uh, it just, I don't have the numbers in front of me, but I'll just go to back of the napkin here.
29:42When I look at the elite players, the players that I have drafted the most in startups.
29:47And then I just happen to maybe trade for with these orphans that we're trying to turn around.
29:53There's no way Zay's not number one. I Zay's number one, Dak Prescott.
29:57Very high though. Love that. That's cool. Dak Prescott incredibly high because there was a ton, there were like three startups in a row.
30:04Yeah. The first three startups where he was falling like the fifth round.
30:08And I was like, okay, I'm doing that. And then Carnell Tate, Carnell Tate's the other one at wide receiver because a
30:14lot of these, and this is why, because we've had Carnell Tate ahead of Mendoza as long as anybody.
30:20And I had a lot of 102s and 103s because what happens is a dynasty manager will be going for the 101.
30:26They don't get the 101. So they abandon their team.
30:29And then I get this, I get this orphan with the 102, 103, end up with a ton of Carnell Tate, some, some Mendoza for sure.
30:37Uh, but, uh, more Tate than Mendoza. And then at running back, it's been Cam Scadaboo, Cam Scadaboo, Cam Scadaboo, Cam Scadaboo.
30:44And now I'm seeing at the FFPC and like there, there's been a real rush on Cam Scadaboo.
30:49It is. I was thankful. I just did a big FSGA best ball.
30:53Lee was like 15 teams broadcast on Sirius XM a couple of nights ago.
30:57And I was like, no way now given all the steam right now on, there's no way I get Scadaboo.
31:03And then I waited around to basically where he should go ADP wise.
31:07And he was there and I was like, oh my God, what a gift, what a gift to get, to get yet, yet more Cam Scadaboo.
31:14So yeah, everybody, everybody out there in, in the, the dynasty world, if flowers, Tate Scadaboo, if they all implode, I'm going
31:21to be in, I'm going to be in shambles.
31:24So basically what you're saying is if the Baltimore Ravens play football, how the Baltimore Ravens play football, how if Cam Ward doesn't take a step forward.
31:32And if Cam Scadaboo gets hurt again. Yeah. If those things all line up, I'm buried.
31:36I am complete, I am buried. And here's the other problem based on what you just said.
31:41Lately, I've been getting a lot of Derrick Henry.
31:44Yeah. Yeah. See, I don't have a lot of Lamar, but I am tethered to Lamar.
31:49Yeah. I really think Lamar will be Lamar this year.
31:52If he's not, then me, look at, look at me.
31:55This is, this is who I am. If, if, oh man, if Lamar, if Lamar is not Lamar, not good.
32:01What is Lamar though? Like what even is like, if Lamar's Lamar, like you had a peak 20, 2019 season.
32:07We had a peak 20, 23 season, everything in between and after and before that he's on the field.
32:12And then he's on the field without having to deal with like a shoulder stinger that he's playing through.
32:18If he has like a partial, uh, you know, AC joint sprain that he's playing through.
32:23Right. That's God. I can't even believe I'm even saying this out loud.
32:27I'm just cursing myself, but I know this is what I'm talking about.
32:30This is what he's playing through some AC joint sprain or not playing at all.
32:35Those are some of the things or a high ankle sprain.
32:38If he's playing on a high ankle or God, or shoulder sprain, or he's just not playing at all.
32:44I'm pretty buried. I'm, I'm, it's not going to be a good scene, even though I will say Zay flowers last year
32:50looked pretty damn QB proof, which is why I like him.
32:54I don't hate him. I just think that you're still a little ahead of really far ahead of consensus on him.
33:00And it's true. I think that's a little hot.
33:03It's, it's hot, but I mean, we're going to let the chips fall.
33:06What do you think of this team though? What do you think of me going essentially, you know, uh, players in their
33:13prime elite players in their prime for the first, say four picks, and then starting to draft the AJ Browns, the Derek
33:19Henrys, the Mike Evans, the, the Chris Godwins. I've found myself doing this in a lot of startups where rounds say six through 10.
33:27Then that's when I'm going with more veterans, the Matthew Staffords and the Derek Henrys.
33:31And then like I did exactly like I did in this, as soon as we get to like round 11, round 12, I'm back to youth.
33:39I'm back to Jonathan Brooks. I'm back to even Mac Jones.
33:42Mac Jones is very interesting. Mac Jones is Ty Simpson, right?
33:45Ty Simpson in this draft went eight Oh five.
33:48Mac Jones went 12 Oh nine. They had the same draft capital.
33:52They were at the same school as close as a Buka and JSN are as prospects.
33:56When you put those guys side by side, the big thing with JSN is he came out early and Ibuka did not,
34:03which is a big check mark on the JSN side of the ledger.
34:07These are two incredibly similar players, Mac Jones and Ty Simpson.
34:10And you could argue Mac Jones is teed up for a starting job next year.
34:14Ty Simpson's two years away from a starting job.
34:17And because Mac Jones is still in his twenties, actually doesn't make sense sort of arbitrage to go Mac Jones and startups
34:24every time and let someone else accept the carrying cost on Ty Simpson at rounds earlier.
34:28I like it. I like this roster top to bottom.
34:31Your tight end was pits. If I remember right.
34:34I have my only worries, I think with the Godwin Evans spot, but I think in that combination of guys, you should
34:41get enough to where it's going to be like usable.
34:44Um, I love the running back room top to bottom.
34:46I have worries about a Chan in Miami, but he's the King there from a touch perspective.
34:52As long as he's healthy, this team's going to cook.
34:55I'll say about AJ Brown. If you, if what you say about Zay flowers happens, right?
34:59And he goes 1200 yards again, he has eight touchdowns.
35:02He's QB proof that everything, everything Baltimore funnels. Right.
35:05That happens. Let me read you off a couple of things that have happened in Josh McDaniels career as the offensive coordinator or the head coach, right?
35:13His number one wide receivers finished with 150 or more targets in nine of 19 seasons.
35:18Only two of those guys have been younger than 29 years old.
35:21Only two of those nine have been younger than 29 years old.
35:25The guys that have been older, Randy Moss in 07.
35:28You're familiar with that, right? 1400 yards, 23 touchdowns.
35:30Brandon Lloyd, age 29, right? 1400 yards, 11 touchdowns.
35:33He had 1400 yards, 1448 and 11 touchdowns in 2010.
35:36Wes Welker's best career season, 1354 and six touchdowns, age 31.
35:39Again, Edelman in 2016, 1103 touchdowns, 160 targets. Edelman again in 2019.
35:43Devontae Adams, 1514 touchdowns in 2022. Devontae Adams again in 2023, 1100 yards and eight touchdowns.
35:48Like it's just, it's over and over and over again.
35:51And then if you want to lump in like first year with Josh McDaniels, you can, you can lump in the Brandon Marshall.
35:57You can lump in the Stefan Diggs, thousand yard seasons, a hundred plus targets.
36:02Like it's almost fail proof with AJ Brown in this, in this Patriots offense for him to have a career season.
36:08If not, you know, some sort of preposterous 14, 15, 600, 1600 yard season attached to Drake May in new England.
36:14So if that happens and Gibbs is Gibbs and Zay Zay, like this team is on fire.
36:19It's on fire. Coors field. I love pulling up the best ball ADP and seeing if you can get the, the, the
36:26current best available best ball ADP player in a dynasty startup.
36:29And I did that several times where AJ Brown's now going at the one, two turn in best ball.
36:35I got him in the fifth round of a startup.
36:38Mike Evans going a couple of rounds later, got him in the ninth round of a startup and on and on down
36:44the board where Derek Henry, you know, think about Derek Henry.
36:47He's going second, sometimes third round, got him in the seventh round.
36:51So there's, there's some dynasty best ball arbitrage that you can do with these older players to just decide, okay, which of,
36:57which of these guys am I, am I going to push the button on and in the first few startups I did,
37:04I was getting some Devante Adams stacking him with, with Matt Stafford.
37:08And that felt good. I got to tell you, it feels better to get Mike Evans.
37:12Mike Evans is so exciting. He is in a new place.
37:16And when you hear all these teammates talk about Mike Evans, George Kittle talking about Mike Evans, everybody talking about like he is showing up.
37:23He is putting in the work. As long as I'm hearing that this guy has a workmanlike attitude and he has a hall of fame resume already.
37:31And he has, you sort of, he's one of the most physically gifted receivers of all time.
37:36Then that that's all I need to know, man.
37:39Like I'm in, I'm in, even if it's one season, whatever.
37:42The problem is in dynasty in these startups, you look at guys drafted in rounds six through 10.
37:47Some of these guys are just never going to be anything.
37:51Some of these guys are just going to outright bust.
37:54R.J. Harvey went in the seventh round. Like he could never do anything ever again.
37:58Basial Tootin could be a catastrophic bust. DJ Moore could be dust, right?
38:02There's a bunch of guys that I have, they have a lot more uncertainty around them and they may be either a
38:08little bit younger or a lot younger, but they could just be catastrophic busts.
38:13Jordan Tyson could be a catastrophic bust. It could happen, right?
38:16Jordan Addison, Alec Pierce, Alec Pierce has, is the most, is the bustiest receiver maybe in the league.
38:21That's one of the worst, that's one of the worst picks you can make right now.
38:26Period. Horrible. Horrible. So that's the, there's not much of a trade-off.
38:30Once you get past the first five rounds in a startup, you can just take the player that's going to give you the most fantasy points.
38:37Because the other thing is if you don't end up competing, it's fine.
38:41You can go ahead and flip that guy in late October for a draft pick.
38:46There's no age-based price to pay at that point.
38:48You might as well just take best player available, A.J.
38:51Brown. I mean, come on, man. A.J. Brown's got a couple more years left, at least.
38:56No. Is he going to play out to age 35?
38:59No. Okay. But we got probably one to two elite seasons coming up for A.J.
39:03Brown. And again, there's, as long as you can trade players in season, what's the big deal drafting everyone from A.J.
39:10Brown to Devontae Adams? Why not? What is the benefit of going like Omar Cooper, who might just never do anything?
39:16Quinton Johnston. Quinton Johnston went before Chris Godwin. Someone needs to explain this to me.
39:20Well, I think the Quinton Johnston one can be explained.
39:23How? If you look at that offense. His absolute ceiling is Chris Godwin.
39:27I don't know if I agree with that. I don't know if I have a fully baked Quinton Johnston take in the
39:34year of our Lord 2026 about what that looks like, because I haven't been touching him.
39:38Ninth round, Quinton Johnston. Get out of here. Well, you took Trey Harris, what, a round later?
39:43I took Trey Harris around 14. What are you talking about?
39:47I don't think that. I don't draft speculative wide receivers until round 13 or later.
39:51And even then, you don't need to. Because there's always going to be a Jaden Reed.
39:56There's always going to be a Jalen Coker. There's always going to be someone there.
40:00Rashid Shahid isn't even speculative. Rashid Shahid, we know, is going to be the wide receiver too.
40:05And he's going to deliver spike weeks. That's not speculative.
40:08I agree. Trey Harris is speculative. But his ceiling is incredible.
40:12You don't think Rashid Shahid is speculative? No. No.
40:14Rashid Shahid. We know exactly what he is, exactly what his role is going to be.
40:19They're expanding it. There's already news has come out multiple times, multiple reports about him expanding his route tree.
40:25So if anything, there's some hidden upside there. But there's no risk that he's going to lose his job this year to Torrey Horton.
40:32That's not. Torrey Horton's a year away. We know that.
40:35And he's not going to bust. He's had several years of high efficiency at the wide receiver position.
40:40And he's in his prime right now. There's very few risk factors around Rashid Shahid.
40:45I like him. We're ahead of consensus on him.
40:47Go to the dynasty rankings. That might have been one you were like, really?
40:52Rashid Shahid? We have been this far ahead of Torrey Horton?
40:55Yeah. Because Rashid Shahid's not old. It could just be that Rashid Shahid tells Torrey Horton, hey man, go ahead and wait
41:01for your next contract because you're not going to really see the field much.
41:05Rashid Shahid's over the age apex and he had 188 yards in nine games.
41:10He's 27. He is at the age apex. The age apex is 27.5.
41:13He is 27. He turns 28 before the season starts.
41:16Oh God. Age 28 season. He's over the age apex.
41:19Okay. We're debating months now. This is what we're doing.
41:22We're debating months. You just said 0.5. He turns 28 before the season starts.
41:27He had 188 yards in half a season. I didn't say that.
41:30I said the age apex for wide receivers is 27.5 and I said he's 27.
41:35Those are both correct statements. It should be 28 and 45 days before the season starts.
41:39Now we're talking about days. This is where dynasty gets into absurdity.
41:43Talking about days. This Rashid Shahid thing. He is nowhere near the Quentin Johnston conversation.
41:47I could also argue that Jaden Reed isn't either.
41:50Jaden Reed has. Well, let's ask the let's ask the audience audience.
41:54Does anyone out there think that Rashid Shahid is going to outproduce Quentin Johnston this year?
41:58If you're listening to the podcast, email me, email me podfather at roto wonderworld.com.
42:02I'd love to hear from you. Yeah. And I'll forward it to Cody.
42:06Do you think it's possible that Rashid Shahid outperforms Quentin Johnston assuming health?
42:10No big massive quarterback injuries. It's very, very, very, I think I'm going to say likely, but it's highly possible.
42:16I I'm in such a spot right now with this show where we've talked about like 13 dudes in the last 15 minutes.
42:23And I have thoughts about like eight of them that you've brought up and sort of buried and or hated on.
42:29And now you're going to bring this damn trade up.
42:32As you say that, that was my cue to pull up the next trade that you did where Cody Carpentier receives Sam Laporta.
42:39I'm not doing that. I hate this trade. I know you have a lot of takes.
42:44You have a lot of we've already disagreed a lot.
42:47I don't know how much more piling on of my takes that we're going to do in the show.
42:52And I'm going to try to limit it as much as possible.
42:56We can try to move the show forward straight to some.
42:59No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You need to answer for this.
43:03A bizarre deal where you actually the aforementioned A.J.
43:06Brown is heading in the other direction from Cody Carpentier's team.
43:09This one. I want you to explain it. This team sucks.
43:13This team sucks. You couldn't get a first. This team sucks.
43:16It's not competing. I prefer Laporta over Hunter Henry and Dynasty.
43:19I don't love Laporta. Oh, yes, of course. I mean, that's easy.
43:23Sure. Yeah, you ain't getting a first round pick for A.J.
43:26Brown. You can try if somebody is maniacal enough and they're completely like teed up and they're starting Cedric Tillman.
43:32And you're like, hey, guess what? Here's A.J. Brown.
43:35First round pick or nothing. Like maybe. But you're not getting a first round pick in 2027 for A.J.
43:40Brown. Based on what we talked about before, when you're taking over orphans and you're trying to revamp completely the roster, you're in a very difficult position.
43:48No one will give up a first. And now you're trying to find the one or two teams out there that have multiple seconds.
43:55Yeah. One of these seconds could be really, really delicious.
43:58And if A.J. Brown can't help you this year, why even carry him?
44:02The only argument would be you would get more for him once he establishes his or reestablishes his eliteness in the month of September.
44:09The only argument is you could get more for him in October.
44:13That's the argument. The argument is you wait until he blows up in September and October and then there's a door there after.
44:20You know, I get it. That's the only that's the only listen.
44:23I'm here to keep up for you. I've already done it with the Gibbs thing.
44:28I'll do it with the Brown thing. All these trades.
44:31I'm with you because I've been through it. I've been through the process, the rebuilding process of these orphans.
44:36And I understand the challenges and I I'm defending you.
44:39You're attacking me and all my player takes. And all I'm doing is defending you and all these imbalanced trades where you're
44:46getting buried by your by your opponents. I'm then defending you.
44:49That's been the dynamics of the show so far.
44:52And here again, I will defend you. This is probably the best you can do when you put an A.J.
44:58Brown on the block. Unfortunately, the only thing that you could do is just don't do a trade at all and wait.
45:04And then maybe one of these win now teams in early October, they get some some thirst for A.J.
45:10Brown. That's the only argument. Yeah, I don't really have much else to add to that.
45:15That's you know, I told I've explained my love for A.J.
45:18Brown this year. But in this specific situation, it's one of those ones.
45:22Like you said, it's it's it's painful to have to do it.
45:25You don't want to have to do it, but because of where the because of where the the team that you acquired
45:32is at, it's not going to help you. It's not going to do anything to benefit you to have a maniacal 1500 yard season from A.J.
45:40Brown on your on your on your roster. OK, Moneyball Nola said something absolutely ridiculous just now.
45:45He said Porta equals Brown in tight end premium.
45:47That's not true. Not even in tight end premium will Laporta equal A.J.
45:51Brown. A.J. Brown is going to go nuclear this year.
45:54Plus, Sam Laporta is dealing with this back injury and it's very possible that we never see what we saw in his
46:01rookie year where he was producing in the context of Khalif Raymond as his target competition.
46:05So I want to see Laporta produce weekly when there's more target competition than Khalif Raymond.
46:10Once we see that, my perception of Laporta will change.
46:13So Moneyball, please feel free to if I have any Laporta in leagues we're in, please feel free to propose trades for him.
46:20Moneyball Nola. I will likely accept. Here's another deal that Cody executed.
46:24This is a very interesting trade. I really like this trade.
46:27It is a lot to talk about. Here's a lot of a lot to chew on.
46:32Cody Carpentier receives finally at long last. He receives the best player in the deal.
46:36I was we couldn't have three deals where you're punting the best player.
46:40We can't do that. We have to have this is OK.
46:43You get the best player. You receive Ramadre Stevenson.
46:46That's not the centerpiece. And then you send away Jadarian Price.
46:49Thank God you did. I mean, anyone that has Jadarian Price, the clock is ticking to week one.
46:54The clock is ticking because his dynasty value could get cut in half after week one where everyone realizes, oh, wait, this team doesn't trust him at all.
47:03And he doesn't look good. This be careful. Be very careful with Jadarian Price.
47:07He has a lot of value right now. If you want to sell high on Jadarian Price, I wouldn't I wouldn't hate it at all.
47:14But then you also sent a 2027 first rounder.
47:17Someone pride a 2027 first rounder out of your cold, dead hands, Cody.
47:21Interestingly enough, it wasn't really pride. I offered it and I offered the first.
47:25This is similar to what I offered. Olly Gordon was once in this deal.
47:29Jalen Naylor was once in this deal coming to me.
47:32The other guy wanted Carnell Tate and it was just a mishmash of stuff.
47:36And we just chopped it all down and it came down to this.
47:40But there was a Carnell Tate on the other side.
47:43So to me, it was a significant overpay. And I was going to get Stevenson, a book of Olly Gordon, who I don't mind, and Jalen Naylor.
47:51It feels better. Actually, you're right. Psychologically, you're like, wait, I got to keep Carnell Tate.
47:56I'm doing this. Yeah, I get it. That's where I ended up with it.
48:00And it's like, I now compare a Buka with Carnell Tate.
48:03This is a roster specifically, not to get too deep into it.
48:07It's 10 team PPR. This is pick is probably going to be 108, 108, 109.
48:11This is a team. We're like the 12th year of this dynasty league.
48:15And I was dominant for like six years. Dominant.
48:18I won like five titles in like seven years.
48:21Good job, buddy. Thank you. I appreciate that. This roster was really good and aged out.
48:25Like I've rode Patrick Mahomes for, I don't know, eight years in this thing.
48:29This was a league that I took Patrick Mahomes when he was during the rookie season and as a keeper and held
48:36on and held on and held on. And I thought you were going to say you took him when he was in the womb, but.
48:43Well, yeah, I did. I drafted him when he's in the womb and I just kind of sat there and he's been sitting on my bench.
48:51But anyway, Patrick Mahomes led me to a lot of those championships.
48:55It's not possible because you're younger than Patrick Mahomes.
48:57I move on from Mahomes. This roster flips and now I'm on my way back up and on my way back up.
49:04So now it's like I need to start acquiring guys like this.
49:08The center point is like Tyler Warren, Harold Fannin.
49:10Your boy CJ Stroud is on here. I now got a, I got your boy Quentin Johnston on this roster.
49:16It's a roster that's very much in the middling spot where I do still have two 20, 27 first round picks.
49:22And now I need running back. So this is my last year where I think I'm going to be around the top of the middle.
49:30And for me, my goal is to next year, be competing for a championship on the backs of whether it's whatever Lawrence
49:36and Stroud, it's a one QB leagues. I got like Lawrence Stroud as my quarterbacks.
49:41It's not great, but it is what it is.
49:43And the rest of this roster, I think we'll come to next year.
49:47And I think a Buka, which you hate for some reason.
49:51I do think a Buka takes a big step forward this year.
49:54No, I love a Buka. We just did a mind of mansion show with Brian Drake and a Buka is, it was the signature player.
50:02We talked about the guy. I absolutely love that.
50:04I just can't draft. I just can't draft because his ADP has been on an upward trajectory the last three months and I'm all in on Chris Godwin.
50:13And then if that's the case, the math doesn't add up.
50:16I also like Ted Hurst. The math doesn't add up.
50:19Sorry. I can't. It's okay. It's okay. I like tech McMillan.
50:22I don't like his situation. It's okay. I can't get the math to work to acquire a Buka right now.
50:28That's okay. There's plenty of guys. Like I just talked about this FSGA best ball league.
50:33Carnell Tate still very available. Carnell Tate was one of those guys where I was on the radio talking and I had
50:39Carnell Tate in my queue, but I just assumed I would never get him.
50:43You ever done that where you put a guy in the queue and you're like, yeah, right.
50:48Yeah. Oh, add to queue. Yeah. As if. Whatever.
50:51That's, you know, leave me alone, whatever. And then it was, I was timing out.
50:56And then I looked up, it was the greatest thing.
50:59I got off the phone and then I looked on my, and I was like, I have Carnell Tate.
51:04How'd that happen? Wait, he fell. Wow. So there's plenty of guys where I'm very happy to get them where they're going.
51:11So it doesn't, it doesn't bum me out that I can't get egg Buka.
51:15Plenty of fish in the sea. As they say.
51:18It has to be an, a weird place to be living in a world where you are all in on 30.
51:24What is he? 31 year old Chris Godwin. It has to be a weird place to live.
51:29Doesn't it? When you have an imposing alpha right on his heels, age 30, Chris Godwin with an imposing alpha on his heels.
51:36And you're just like all in on Chris. That has to be a weird place to be.
51:41Isn't it? I feel fine about it. I feel fine about it.
51:44I also want to say, I do like the Stevenson edition, right?
51:48I just get that as a throw in Stevenson is the Cortland Sutton of running backs.
51:53There's, there's nothing you can get for him. Zero.
51:55They want to give you the time of day.
51:58No one will even respond to your offer. The positive about the Stevenson side is that the staff at least loves him
52:05for some reason and is going to force opportunities to him.
52:08That's why, that's why this is what I'm talking about.
52:11This is exactly what I'm talking about. Listen to what the team is going to do.
52:16Listen to what they're saying. I'm listening to what the team is going to listen to what they're saying about JK Dobbins in Denver.
52:23So I keep drafting JK Dobbins. They're saying the same thing.
52:26This guy is a key part of our offense when they're listing the key parts of the, of the team.
52:32We got Bo Nix. We got, uh, you know, uh, Patrick Sertan the second, and we've got JK Dobbins.
52:37And they go, excuse me, what they want to, this is the core of the team.
52:42Yes. Yes. And I remember when JK Dobbins was super explosive guy coming out of Ohio state and he's had a healthy
52:49off season and feeling as good as he's felt in five years.
52:52And that's exactly what we're hearing about Chris Godwin right now, feeling as good as he's felt in five years.
52:58And that he's a keystone centerpiece of this offense.
53:01And there's no more Mike Evans. I want to see Chris Godwin, no Mike Evans.
53:05And I can't believe we live. I live in a world where somehow, some way the scenario or what is Chris Godwin
53:12without Mike Evans is unfolding in front of our eyes and no one cares.
53:16And I'm happy to be the only one that cares.
53:19Well, that's because there's a problem and it's a Mecca Buka.
53:22Like the problem is that there's an a book of there.
53:26And I think that's why there's no, if there was no a book and they had drafted some, you know, linebacker instead.
53:32Yeah. And it's like, well, look, it's Godwin. And then it's a Jalen McMillan.
53:36They would have been like, Godwin's a second round pick.
53:39Godwin's a third round pick in seasonal. Right. Like there's, he's the McLaurin.
53:43He's, he's the solo guy. And then you're like, after him, it's Luke McCaffrey.
53:47You're like, yeah, that's Jalen McMillan. That's Ted Hearst.
53:50Like that would be the situation. You know, I have some Luke McCaffrey in deep leagues.
53:55There, there just happens to be this six foot tall, 205 pound, four, four running alpha.
53:59You know, we send Byron lives in Tampa. Byron goes to the, you know, he goes to a couple of training camps every year.
54:07Now, last year he goes down there before the rookie season even happened before that first five week stretch.
54:12When a Mecca Buka was wide receiver three in the sport through five weeks of his rookie season.
54:18Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Before that all happened, Byron was down there at training camp and he goes, who's this a Buka dude?
54:24This a Buka dude looks like chase. He's got Jamar Chase's lower legs, lower body speed.
54:29I'm like, come on, Byron Jamar Chase. He's like after week five, I'm the one going like this.
54:34Cause I'm like, well, I guess you kind of right.
54:37Scoring is Puka, Amon Ra, a Mecca Buka. Like that was a top three wide receivers through, through five weeks using the player profile of fantasy leaderboard.
54:45And then every body part on Baker Mayfield fell off.
54:48Every piece of his body just either was broken or fell off the joint.
54:52So that's what happened. Baker Mayfield fell apart. That's certainly, that is the number one rationalization for what happened to a Mecca Buka.
54:59And I'm here for it, man. I like it.
55:02I do. I like him. I like him a lot.
55:05Certainly in redraft, I'm completely out. Why? Because dynasty is dynasty and you have these guys for their careers and Buka is
55:11going to be there well after Chris Godwin. And he's not, he's not as overpriced in dynasty.
55:16His, his price is reasonable in dynasty. I think it's reasonable.
55:20I just haven't, it doesn't align for me to get him.
55:23But in the, in the startup where I drafted Zay Flowers, Buka went just before Olave Wilson Tate.
55:28And if he's going to go before Olave Wilson Tate, I ain't getting him, man.
55:33I ain't getting him. That's just like, I'm not getting Ted McMillan.
55:36He goes before all those guys. It makes no sense.
55:39I'm taking him every time over those guys for different reasons.
55:43Ted McMillan is on one of these run first offenses with a bad quarterback.
55:47And I'm not here for that. There's a little more nuance with the target competition in Tampa.
55:52And that target competition includes Kenneth Gainwell, by the way.
55:55And you mentioned the fantasy leaderboard. So what we should do is pull up the fantasy leaderboard.
56:00This is a brand new feature, brand, brand new on player profiler.
56:03Check this out. This is free. It's in the fantasy home section of player profiler.
56:08Everyone should go there, bookmark it. And you might say, oh, well, this is just fantasy points, a list of fantasy points.
56:14You can get this anywhere. Check it out. It's, it's pretty damn cool.
56:18It's all the fantasy scoring across all formats. And it just, the ability to sort and see all that data by week.
56:25It sounds simple. It doesn't sound that impressive. But when you go there, you're like, oh yeah, this is pretty cool.
56:31So I think we should, we should look at the fantasy point scoring and we'll filter by wide receiver here.
56:37And then we're going to start with the second half.
56:40We'll go week nine through week 18. And we're going to calculate the leaderboard full PPR.
56:45Okay. So we're going to go full PPR and then we'll go ahead and take a look.
56:50And then, so who do you think was the number one without looking at the screen?
56:54Maybe you already looked at it. Who do you think was number one weeks nine through 18?
56:59Cody JSN was Puka. It was Puka and then JSN.
57:02And then my favorite number three, can you give me number three?
57:06Come on. Guess. Come on. It's fun. It's a fun one.
57:09Chris Olave finished pretty good with Tyler Shook. Um, Michael Wilson.
57:13Oh, Michael Wilson did have a good end. It's fun.
57:15And we can keep scrolling and we'll keep scrolling past Alec Pierce, past DJ Moore, past Khalil Shakir, past Nico Collins, number seven, overall past Ryan Flournoy.
57:24We're going to keep scrolling and scrolling. Eventually we're going to get to a healthy Emeka Egbuka as wide receiver 44 during that time.
57:31And, you know, he's right there with Lad McConkie and Josh Downs.
57:34And I think that's very fair. I think, I think that's fair.
57:38And Chris Godwin for that matter. I think if, I think if you combine Chris Godwin, Josh Downs and Lad McConkie into
57:44one guy, he'd look a lot like Emeka Egbuka.
57:47But then you also had some JSN in there because I agree with the JSN comparison.
57:52It was one of the, it's one of the closest comparisons that there is.
57:56That's not a comp. That was not a, the, the, the breakout thing.
58:00Cause I saw your, your write up in the, in the player profiler weekly newsletter.
58:04Oh, by the way, we have a weekly newsletter.
58:07If you're on any player page, scroll to the bottom, or if you're on the homepage of player profiler, scroll to the bottom, put your email in there.
58:15And we, you'll get, you know, I have a, a featured, you know, big take, like my top 10, like most recently,
58:22my top 10 players that I love that I can't draft at their ADP.
58:26Like that comes out every week. Then we have our newsletter, which was basically summarizes all the, all the great content we have into one place.
58:34And then gives you all the news. Like, Hey, check out this new features.
58:38So that comes out once a week as well with the newsletter.
58:41So we don't bombard your boot. We don't bombard your inbox.
58:45We just give you what you need, you know, at most twice a week, maybe three times a week, but that would be at most.
58:52So everyone should be subscribing to the newsletter on player profiler.com.
58:55And in that newsletter, I retold a story where I was driving with my family.
59:00And I tried to sneak in a little fantasy sports radio on Sirius XM because roster watch was live.
59:05And I got to listen to Alex and Cody talk about a Mecca, a Buka and basically just victory lap on how
59:12right they were because they were ahead of consensus.
59:15And now it's catching up because he's getting so steamed up.
59:18And I was like, yeah, man. Yeah. The, the, the JSN comps are real.
59:22And I think that at some point a Mecca, a Buka is going to be a value.
59:27He needs to disappoint fantasy gamers one more time.
59:30Second half was disappointing. He's going to disappoint them one more time where then we, then we can move in and soak him up.
59:37But right now too expensive. So the, the conversation with JSN for us was like last year, if you remember right in
59:43the, in the, in the, in the third round of seasonal drafts, it was everyone like Lad McConkie was the one like
59:50that was not everyone was in on Lad McConkie, but you pretty much like if he got there, that was the hot name.
59:57And we weren't doing Lad. We were taking JSN over Lad every time.
60:01And that's the area where you're talking like the three Oh four three Oh five area.
60:05That is where a book is at. Right. And he's going to continue to steam.
60:10He's a little bit behind that right now, but he's going to steam up through it, potentially be a two, three turn pick.
60:17And that was kind of the point of like two years ago was Malik neighbor last year was JSN.
60:22And now this year it's like, and that's not saying he's going to have a 1600 yard season.
60:28It's just saying like, he's going to perform significantly better.
60:31We believe then the guys that are all around him, the Garrett Wilson's, the Ted rule McMillan's, the Rashi rice's, um, the
60:37T Higgins is Malik neighbors even is there. And like, that was kind of the angle behind that.
60:43I'm not going to put my name next to Mecca Buka having a 1600 yard season and being wide receiver.
60:48Number one, like JSN was, that's not where my stance is.
60:52My stance is more about where the value sits year over year, but I get it.
60:56I mean, the Ohio state thing definitely connects the slot ability, the dynamic ability.
61:01It all connects, but there's obviously wasn't a, I mean, there kind of was a Godwin in Seattle last year.
61:07His name was Cooper cup, a couple of years older, a couple more lower leg injuries, but I don't think Godwin's going
61:13to have a Cooper cup like season. I see what you did there.
61:17I see what you did there. Hey, that is, that is, if we're going to talk about the JSN.
61:23And I book a comp, we might as well talk about the Godwin Cooper cup comp.
61:27Godwin came into the league a lot more explosiveness just as a baseline in his lower body.
61:32And also he's a couple of years younger. So that comp doesn't work as well.
61:37I think that actually it's the, the book a JSN comp is closer than Godwin to Cooper cup, especially on the athleticism side of the ledger.
61:45And in fairness, man, fair and balanced. We are fair and balanced Cody.
61:48And I went ahead and I, I reset the settings on the fantasy leaderboard.
61:53And I put weeks one through eight, Buka wide receiver, eight fantasy points, 120 fantasy points, 15 fantasy points per game.
61:59That is true. But I will also say that the excuse that he had a hamstring injury in the second half is
62:05real, but he and Godwin had the same production.
62:08And Godwin also was playing hurt last year. So what is good for the goose is good for the gander in Tampa Bay.
62:15And they're, they're the, the, the disparity, even in seasonal leagues between the a Buka and Godwin ADP is one of the
62:21more mystifying draft position dichotomies I've ever seen with a Buka going third round and Godwin going 10th round.
62:27How is that possible? Well, I think what you saw, I mean, the new offensive coordinator, Zach Robinson, what you saw with
62:34him in Atlanta last year, like he fed the alpha and Drake London pits finished with more targets in Atlanta last year,
62:40but this cause London missed like five games. It's like his offenses built for these guys.
62:45I think those are the top two. Look the year before that.
62:48I think Drake London had like 160 targets that first year was Zach Robinson, Darnell Mooney of all people had over a hundred.
62:55Like I don't trust or believe in Kate Otten.
62:58Like it's definitely these two guys. It's definitely egg Buka and Godwin.
63:02And I think that the disparaging in ADP and in value and everything being multiple rounds is right because as much as
63:08we all love Godwin and as much as you seem to like Godwin and maybe a little bit more than I, and
63:15maybe not as high on a Buka. It's like, there's, if, if I just gave you 300 targets and I said, divide
63:21these up how you think they're actually going to be between these two players, these two players are getting 300 targets.
63:27How are they going to be broken up? I would say 175, 125 for Godwin.
63:32No, no, no. For a Buka that I left the door open for that.
63:36That was my bad, but that's like the difference, right?
63:39That's what I would say. And that makes sense.
63:4250 targets would be the difference for me in that breakdown.
63:45And it would be like, that's, he's the alpha.
63:48Like Godwin's still going to pay off with 125 targets in that situation.
63:51He's a hundred percent going to pay off, but a book is still the alpha, you know, that may be a bad way of explaining that.
63:59But like, that's kind of how I view those two guys.
64:02Like a book to me is clearly the number one wide receiver.
64:06There's clearly vacated targets from Sterling Shepard from Mike Evans, you know, Baker Mayfield gets healthy.
64:11This offense is going to look significantly different than it has the last couple of years.
64:15And we'll even see what, if Bucky Irving is back to health, but it's, this is a Mecca Buka's offense and Godwin's
64:22going to be a part of it, a big part of it, but he's not going to be the kingmaker.
64:28Like we all have dreamt that he will be or would be when Mike Evans departed.
64:33They're saying it's the Chris Godwin offense. Just like they're saying it's the JK Dobbins backfield in Denver.
64:38I can't believe I'm here, man. I can't believe I'm caping up for all these old players.
64:43I know it's so unlike you. It's so weird.
64:46It feels crazy, but it's, I just, man. Thankfully, a guy like Godwin, I've been on him for 10 years and I feel, I feel great about it.
64:54So there's a, and then it's not just based on loyalty.
64:57It's just based on the guys delivering. We're talking about top fantasy points per game, several top 10 seasons for Chris Godwin.
65:04So I'm fine drafting a Buka in dynasty. I just wouldn't draft.
65:07I mean, you're, you're taking, you're taking a Buka in dynasty over Olave.
65:11You're fine with that over Tate. 100%. Okay. 100%.
65:14Again, in our dynasty rankings right now, Tate's a good conversation point.
65:18Um, around a Buka, but a Buka for me is a wide receiver nine.
65:22Um, overall, which is a little bit, I think it's a little bit higher than the consensus.
65:27The consensus has him 20th. Keep trade cut. I have him at 18.
65:31Crashman is actually significantly higher. He's an overall player 11 and one quarterback, but, um, yeah, Tate, Tate to me is a couple spots lower.
65:38Yeah. Um, we're he's, he's not gonna, he's not going to touch Tate for us.
65:42Uh, Tate's just to smash, uh, because then there's no target competition.
65:46Uh, we are going to get to the Brees hall trade.
65:49There's also been a question in the chat that I do want to get back to.
65:54So it was a, it was a great, there's a great trade question in the chat that we are going to, we're
66:01going to get back to regarding a Rashi rice and Olave.
66:04Just let's just, we'll, we'll tee it up right now.
66:07Would you trade right now? Cody, would you trade Rashi rice and Olave for JSN?
66:11Really? That's a question. I wouldn't even think about it.
66:14You wouldn't do it. No, I wouldn't even. No, no, no.
66:18I'm saying I wouldn't even think of it. Like that.
66:21It would be a opens phone smash auto accept, right?
66:23Getting rid of Rashi rice and Olave to get J.
66:26I mean, that's a, it's Rashi rice. Insta. Insta.
66:29Rashi. Rashi. Hi. Injury history galore and taking medication for blood clots in the off season.
66:34And Rashi rice, who has a knee injury that he's recovering from in jail gets out.
66:39And then look at me running down the sidewalk.
66:41Healthy. Also has a quarterback question has like, there's so many question marks about both of those guys.
66:47And I was like, wide receiver one in dynasty right now.
66:50Like that's a smash brother. This FSGA best ball league.
66:53I know it's not a dynasty. Everybody's a dynasty show, but I just want to say I did stack my homes and
66:59Xavier worthy in that, you know, best ball, best ball though.
67:03Best ball. Yeah. Best ball. There are best ball dynasty leagues where this, this could be a relevant data point or conversation point.
67:10My home's worthy. And part of my case for worthy.
67:12Sound like I love worthy is that I do not like Rashi rice because Rashi rice is, uh, has every red flag
67:19that there is low air yards, health and commitment to the sport, right?
67:23The guy clearly doesn't want to be a professional athlete.
67:26He clearly can't command air yards and is clearly not going to be a hundred percent for a while coming back from
67:32a knee injury where he could not properly recover because he was in jail.
67:37So yes, you get, I mean, I, I would, my problem in that situation is my problem with this trade is I
67:43would have let go of Rashi rice a long time ago for less.
67:47That's my problem is I wouldn't even have him.
67:50Like I wouldn't, this offer wouldn't show up on my phone because he'd already be gone.
67:54Yeah. So yeah. Auto accept on that one. That's, that's, that's easy.
67:58And that's also one where I'm happy to be wrong, man.
68:01Like if he wants to go against that kind of headwind and he wants to somehow start commanding air yards and somehow
68:08start to become a professional and somehow start to be healthy.
68:11Okay. Then congratulations. Then he turned his life around and he turned his profession around his whole career around.
68:17Great. I'm happy for him. I just don't have to have him on my dynasty team.
68:21That's all. Yeah. That's fine. Otherwise, no, thank you, sir.
68:24No, thank you. And also I like acquiring the best player.
68:28That's why I like your Rick Buka trade where you're getting the best player in the deal.
68:33Sometimes to a fault, I'll go out and I'll acquire the best player.
68:37And sometimes I'll end up trading a player I like in the process to do it.
68:41And so we're, we're going to, you know, close this fantasy leaderboard out and I'm going to show you a trade that
68:48I did recently that I'm not proud of. I'm not proud of.
68:51I am eager to get out of Brock Purdy and Brees Hall.
68:55That is true. And somehow, some way a trade showed up in my inbox.
68:59I'm not sure how this happened where someone was going to give me Joe Burrow for these guys and was also wanted a 2027 first.
69:07And in my haste, I did not check the trade analyzer on the Dynasty Dominator app, which is in the app store,
69:13Google Play, check it out, go get it. You need it.
69:16And I had it and it was right there.
69:19I could have put it, I could have plugged it in.
69:22Would have been super easy. It's also part of Dynasty Deluxe, the trade analyzer.
69:26And I didn't, I didn't. And I, and I, I really, I failed here.
69:31I just wanted to put, it's, it's a rare thing that you get the best player, a guy that's a first rounder in Dynasty Superflex.
69:38And you didn't give up a first rounder on, on, you know, in, in 2027, a future first or 2028 first even.
69:45And yet still you regret the deal. As soon as I got the alert, this trade went through my stomach dropped because
69:51I had to go remember what I did. And I was like, wait, what did I, what did I respond with?
69:57It just, it was not well thought through. And I have talked about this with coach and the trade guide show, managing 30 plus leagues.
70:05You need to be disciplined. And sometimes you just, you get got.
70:08And what happened in this case was there was a bogus offer sent dangling burrow, dangling burrow for my 2027 first plus hall plus purdy.
70:16And I was like, get out of here. This is ridiculous.
70:19And instead of having a measured counter offer where I, I dramatically wind back the assets I'm sending.
70:24I simply swapped out the 2027 first for a 2027 second shipped it and he instantly accepted it.
70:30And then I regretted it. I don't mind this off the hoof.
70:33Like I don't mind Brees Hall getting a new contract age 25 offensive lines, better team still going to be bad.
70:39This thing could hall could look entirely different a year from now, especially with the backfield that he's with problem.
70:45I think is that I don't think Brock pretty that far below burrow.
70:49I think he's not, he's not Cody. It was a mistake, but burrow was still burrow is still one of the Kings of the league.
70:57Like he's still one of the best quarterbacks, pure quarterbacks in the league, not fantasy straight off.
71:02But the problem I have, I'm getting nauseous looking at this.
71:05The problem I have is when I look at your roster, because I'm in this league with you and we, we, we
71:12were in this league and you're running back depth now is horrible is what you had to go look at right away with Javante and Derek Henry.
71:20It's like, Ooh, I look like my starting lineup's fine.
71:23After that, you had to be like punching yourself.
71:25That's why you were punching yourself. Not, not because I'm fine saying, you know what?
71:30I'm leveling up from Purdy to burrow. I'm giving the pick, giving a little value of running back.
71:35Laquint Allen is a, you know, little piece of fruit, you know, some fruit snacks here.
71:40Like it's nothing. Laquint Allen could be a decent piece at some point, sometime in the, probably not.
71:45But the breeze hall thing, even though he's 25 years old, even though that offense isn't great, that piece is what's going
71:52to kick you in the nuts in week eight.
71:54When one of Javante or Derek Henry is down and you're like, well, who's going to come in and be my Ollie Gordon, right?
72:01Something like, like that's where you're going to be mad that you don't have a breeze.
72:06It was a mistake. It was a mistake. Thankfully I've also made, we've all made mistakes.
72:11It's way better to make a mistake where you get the best player by far.
72:15Yeah. Yeah. Right. Where you're getting a first rounder and the next best guy is a fourth rounder in a startup.
72:22You feel much better about it. So I, I love getting Burrow.
72:25Now my quarterbacks are Burrow and Hertz. My starting lineup improved.
72:28So this was the, this was the great trick of this, of this deal that, so the mental, sort of the, the,
72:35the, the, the shimmering, the glitter, the, the, that got me to lose my mind was the idea of having Burrow in my starting lineup with Hertz.
72:43And then my starting running backs are Javante and Derek Henry.
72:46And there's no flex. So part of my calculation, a big part of my calculation was, well, there's no flex in this.
72:53You can only start two running backs at most tight end premium.
72:56When you start two tight ends, tight ends are hugely valuable.
73:00And because they're smaller lineups, super flex that don't have deep starting lineups, quarterbacks are at an even bigger premium.
73:06So Burrow's production as a percentage of the overall starting lineup is a lot higher in this league than another league.
73:12And there's a limit, a cap. You can only have four quarterbacks.
73:15And so that, you know, the, the elite quarterbacks values go up.
73:19And so for a bunch of reasons, I was like, I think this is this, I think this is actually not that bad.
73:26But then you start to think about this scenario where, okay, Javante or Derek Henry goes down.
73:31Suddenly you go from a team that can win the league to a team that has no chance.
73:36Unless, you know, a Chan goes down. Then I have Ollie Gordon.
73:40I also got a little bit trapped in this league by my love for certain fringe running backs.
73:45I have Ollie Gordon, Sean Tucker and LaQuinn Allen.
73:48And I have, I have like a Jaden Blue.
73:50I have a bunch of these running backs, these fringe running backs that I love to compile.
73:56And so something in my head was like, well, it's okay.
73:59If Javante goes down, I have Jaden Blue and Phil Moffa will be fine.
74:03Right. And I should probably go out, try to, who should I get in Baltimore?
74:07If I'm going to, if I'm going to handcuff Henry, Justice Hill, Adam Randall, period.
74:12No, he's not available, but I think Justice Hill might be available.
74:15I would, but this type of a deal right here, if this guy had Adam Randall, I think you could put Adam
74:22Randall in place of LaQuinn down and he would still get done.
74:26Like, that's what I'm saying. Like I might have to pick up Justice Hill.
74:30Adam Randall is, is rostered. Unfortunately, he's the old, but you go trade for him.
74:34Like I have that much conviction. Adam Randall graduated in three years as a master's degree from Clemson is one of the smartest human beings you'll meet.
74:42This was an owner pick in Baltimore, by the way, didn't know I had to Adam Randall take him here right now,
74:49but this was the first time ever the owner for the Baltimore Ravens has made a selection on draft day and he made it for Adam Randall.
74:57Went through a series of tests, military level testing to like check guys off.
75:01And there's a whole video up on YouTube about Steve Bishotti making the selection of Adam Randall built six foot two, 230
75:07pounds, former wide receiver can catch the ball in the backfield out of college, unlike Derrick Henry.
75:12And he's going to sit behind Derrick Henry for a year or two.
75:16I mean, I'm not saying he's going to be Derrick Henry, but this is teed up for Adam Randall, not Justice Hill
75:23or Rasheen Ali's, you know, plotting, but to, you know, do something.
75:26This is Adam Randall, but yeah, I mean, yeah, yeah.
75:29I now have to like handcuff both guys. Like, oh my God.
75:33It's, oh man. You can still set a 2027 third for Adam Randall and get it.
75:38I can't believe I need Adam Randall on a team.
75:41That's, that's the thing that I would never have thought I would say, but here we are where, yeah, let's pull up Adam Randall real quick.
75:48I want to pull him up. He is, he's very impressive.
75:52And he's also wearing a bow tie. That's how you know he's smart without even looking at his test scores.
75:58I can tell you he's smart. He's wearing a bow tie and he's explosive, right?
76:02These guys got a one 13.2 95th percentile speed score, dominant college player, 230 pounds.
76:07Wow. Wow. This, yeah, this is like, uh, he's got, he's giving me some Braylon Allen vibes in a good way, in a good way.
76:14And that's part of my issue with Brees Hall.
76:17This was also another reason this trade, and I like to talk about these trades.
76:21I could make a regretful trade and then never talk about it again.
76:25Right. Right. But I want to talk about these trades because I want the whole audience to understand the psychology that goes into it.
76:32Part of my psychology was I made a trade based on fear.
76:36It was a fear based trade. I was running to safety.
76:39I was like, this is a great team, but it's a little bit, I'm a little bit scared of Brees Hall.
76:45I'm a little bit scared of Purdy getting Burrow kind of locks me in to having an elite team for the foreseeable future.
76:52But suddenly there's, there's more sort of roster fragility, but I'm going to do it anyway, by the way, because there's no flex.
76:59I got Roma Dunze on the bench, Christian Watson on the bench and Ed and I Mitchell on the bench.
77:05I mean, you probably make some, you can make some moves with that.
77:09But I think I've got to do that. I think now this is because I could compound this problem.
77:14We'll check back on this league later. We're in together.
77:17So we'll, I might compound the problem. I might let Roma Dunze go.
77:21Should I trade? Let us know in the chat.
77:24Email me podfather at roto1world.com. Should I trade Roma Dunze for Adam Randall?
77:28Is that a good trade? Is that a trade we should make?
77:31Let's read your Aaron Jones or Roma Dunze. Oh, done.
77:34Yes. Because Brees Hall scares me. I think Brees Hall is a sell high candidate.
77:39Coach and I really disagree. The reason why I'm cheating on coach and talking about a trade I did that we'd normally
77:45talk about on trade gods is because I already know what coach is going to say.
77:50Jeremiah is going to hate this trade more than anyone in the chat hates it.
77:54And the chat hates it. Jeremiah hated even more because he loves Brees Hall.
77:58I actually think Brees Hall is in danger of a touch squeeze.
78:02I'm not saying he's RJ Harvey, but he could be RJ Harvey in that I'm not comfortable with how good Isaiah Davis is.
78:09Anyone in the chat wants to talk about Isaiah Davis.
78:12I'm here to talk about Isaiah Davis. I have a ton of Isaiah Davis and the presence of idea him being so
78:18good between the tackles is scary to me before we even talk about Braylon Allen and talk about the fact this is the Jets.
78:26And then so you could argue, hey, they're going to be losing a lot.
78:30So Brees Hall will be out there as a satellite back catching passes and a guy that can run outside and give you explosive plays.
78:37Even though we got the contract, I think it was a begrudging, like we have to do this contract, not we love this guy contract.
78:45And they have one of the best one to three backfields, RB1 through RB3 backfields in the NFL.
78:50I would put their backfield up against almost any other backfield.
78:53If there was ever a situation to like the thing we've talked about for like a decade of never pay running backs,
79:00this was the team to literally like you had Isaiah Davis and Braylon Allen and you suck and you need a quarterback next year.
79:07And you like, let him walk draft a running back in the sixth round.
79:11Cody, it was the, the definition of team building was do not pay Brees Hall.
79:15You know what I would have done if I were the Jets man, by the way, anyone that runs a team, anyone
79:22that's listening to the show that is a, is a equity holder in the NFL.
79:26I'm open for business, right? I'm open for business.
79:29You know, I can run player profiler just fine.
79:32Fast draft, just fine. I could do it all and be a general manager of a team.
79:37I can do it. I have the best work ethic in the business.
79:41And I also would do a hell of a job as a general manager.
79:45You know what I would have done? Trade him to the commanders.
79:48My guess is had I been a general manager of the Jets, I would work my ass off trying to trade him,
79:55failed, wouldn't have been able to trade him. And then be like, listen, man, I'm going to get the, I'm going to take the comp picks.
80:03Let's let him walk, take the comp picks. And then I'm going to draft because I have a great between the tackles
80:09to high quality between the tackles runners in the sixth round.
80:12Cause I wouldn't even dare let him get to the seventh.
80:16I'm going to go Eli Heidenreich. Like that's what I would have done.
80:20So if I were the general manager of the Jets, and again, if you're out there and you have a team, I'll
80:26run it for you and we'll go to the super bowl and win.
80:30And we'll do it because I'm going to make moves like that, getting extra compensatory picks for Brees Hall, and then going out and drafting Heidenreich.
80:38That would have been the nuts move. And then we would have had a nice little fun Davis Allen committee with Heidenreich coming in on third down.
80:46It would have been beautiful. And you could have just went out and signed Davis Allen to be the quarterback after Geno Smith gets pulled over again.
80:54The beauty of player profile is it used to be the player profile.
80:58I just had these like singular player pages that are the best ever, but now there's like the news, the player profiler
81:04news, the new leaderboard and the news just came out.
81:07I saw it on player profiler that Geno Smith, that, that investigation is not closed, but it's no longer being pursued, but I'm very in on Geno.
81:15I'm very in on Geno. And that's the thing, man.
81:18Most of these teams, I kind of look at what the game script is going to be.
81:23And almost every team, unless it's like the most elite offense, like Dallas, where I want everybody.
81:28I usually pick one side or the other of the offense with the jets.
81:32I'm all in on the passing game stacking the Geno add nine Mitchell stack.
81:36Multiple people have come on that might've mentioned program and agree.
81:40That's the best value stack in all of best ball is Geno Smith add nine Mitchell.
81:44And then we also have Garrett Wilson. We love that's maniacal.
81:48These two tight ends that we both like. We like Mason Taylor, right?
81:52Mason Taylor is going to be Michael mayor in a year.
81:55Hell yeah. I also have Michael mayor in that league.
81:58That league is interesting in that there's no flex, but there's a cap on quarterback and tight end.
82:03You can only have four tight ends on the roster.
82:06You can only have four quarterbacks. And so when I took the team over, and if you saw this, I was able
82:13to do these trades such, you know, getting the best player in the deal and then letting players go where I was
82:19able to acquire on my bench off the waiver wire because of these position limits, both Terrence Ferguson and Michael mayor felt great.
82:26I also got add that Mitchell off the waiver wire.
82:29I'm doing very well in that league. I was one of the, I was running very pure until I decided to overpay
82:36like crazy for burrow for no reason. Is there a taxi squad in that league or is it just pure roster?
82:42The interesting thing about this, and that's why I think like Fernando Mendoza is so valuable.
82:47The taxi squad players do not count against your cap.
82:50Yeah. Ty Simpson has much more value in that league because he can be your fifth quarterback.
82:55Okay. So yeah, Cade Clubnick, any guy like that is, is, is, is, is, is much more valuable because you can put them in the taxi squad.
83:03My taxi squad, because it's tight end premium and you start two tight ends.
83:07My taxi squad has guys like Jack injuries, Matt Hibner, Tanner Coziol.
83:10That might, that's because they're the exception to the tight end rule.
83:14I can, I can roster a hell of a lot more tight ends on the taxi squad that are rookies.
83:20Colby young, jam Miller, Jaden blue. And then I also have Makai lemon and Casey Concepcion.
83:25So yeah, I, if there was a player that I could trade, it's absolutely Roma dunze.
83:29My other receivers are Drake London's a flowers, Tara McLaurin.
83:32What do you think about me putting Drake London on the block and rolling with a dunze instead of London?
83:38And then maybe trying to get like a superstar, like a, like an H hand or something for London.
83:44I hate that. I hate that. I don't want, I don't, I don't want any part.
83:49I know I know you need. No. If you broke my brain, if, if, uh, if Zay flowers is quarterback proof, I
83:55think we have, if you believe Zay flowers is quarterback, I believe we have proof that Drake London is quarterback proof from
84:02what he's gone through in Atlanta the last couple of years.
84:05And I think we're eight months away, nine months away from them having an opportunity to really put a right-handed dart thrower
84:12in that quarterback room and get rid of Phoenix, get rid of Tua Tungvaloa.
84:16And in his latter twenties, Drake London goes 180 targets, 180 targets, 180 targets.
84:20I'm not getting rid of Drake London. I love Drake London.
84:23I'm so glad that you guys, you guys have talked about this on Sirius XM too.
84:28And I love how just getting it out there in different platforms, Sirius XM podcast, everything else.
84:33And everyone in the audience help us do this.
84:36We need to inform the public, teach them about this whole left-handed quarterback thing.
84:40Unless you are Michael Vick, Steve young, get the hell out of here with these left-handed quarterbacks.
84:45They are trash. They don't work. It's not worth it.
84:48It doesn't make any sense to have one on the roster, get them out of there and get a right-handed quarterback.
84:54That'll upgrade your offense immediately. You can actually run a normal offense and everyone can play their normal positions and everyone doesn't have to play the game backwards.
85:02I'm so glad that you mentioned left-hand quarterback because it doesn't get mentioned enough.
85:06I try to talk about all the time, these goddamn Atlanta quarterbacks.
85:10I want nothing to do with, but it's like, you know, it doesn't matter.
85:14Spins over other direction. Big deal. Nobody wants to understand it.
85:17They're just like, who cares? Hello. If you're a general manager, you could actually argue that maybe like, oh, you might get
85:24a deal on a left tackle because it's actually a right tackle.
85:28It's like, yes, but it's just a fucking dope.
85:30Why? You don't, stop it. I don't want to flip my entire offensive line, my entire playbook.
85:35There are some languages where you have to, you actually start the back of the book.
85:40You've seen this? No. Yeah. There are some languages like Hebrew.
85:43You start the back of the book and you work your way the other way.
85:48Why start the back of the playbook? Why, why create a whole backwards team?
85:52It makes no sense. So I really appreciate you mentioning that.
85:55My problem is the wide receivers on this team.
85:58I think they're all going to exceed expectations. Flowers, McLaurin, Adunze, Mitchell, and even Christian Watson.
86:03I don't want to trade any of these guys.
86:05Dude, trade Christian Watson. For running back. So get, I mean, get Watson out of here.
86:10Okay. I'll do it right now. I mean, listen, Adunze is on paper, probably one where you'd say this makes a lot of sense.
86:17Like you can probably get rid of Adunze. I mean, if you're willing to trade Adunze, then I should be willing because you love Adunze.
86:25There's, yeah, there's going to be somebody out there that believes in, in room Adunze, but Christian Watson, if you just, I can't find the document right now.
86:33It's one of our show sheets for Series XM.
86:36I talked about it on Series XM last weekend or the weekend before, and you can go through the injuries for the
86:42Green Bay Packers in the last couple of years.
86:45It is horrendous. It is painful to go through and just like talk through Jaden Reed and Watson and even Golden and now Kraft.
86:52And Watson's the one guy that is just like every year there's two, three, four injuries.
86:57And listen, if everything goes right, he stays healthy for the whole year.
87:01Sure. He can be wide receiver eight, seven in the league.
87:04The odds that happens. I don't know. I don't know.
87:07Eight percent chance. Like Roma Dunze in a, in a real world can still be 150 target guy in the Chicago offense.
87:13Like we all think Luther burden is going to take this big step forward, but I don't know.
87:19Like I love Luther burden, but I am not sold that he's just going to be the top target here or Colson
87:25Lovers is going to be the top target here.
87:28Like how soon we forget how good guys were like Roma Dunze was in the neighbors, Harrison conversation coming out of college.
87:34And because he's been banged up a few times and, and a new coach comes in and this happens and they draft
87:41Loveland and Oh look, Luther burden, flash, flashy toy.
87:44You forget Roma Dunze. Like that's a guy that should be consensus top 12 and dynasty, but nobody believes that anymore because why?
87:50A couple injuries happen. Like he's still young, dynamic, six, three, two 15 red zone target earner.
87:55No, no. Miss me with that. Sell Christian Watson and let Roma Dunze just sit there, put him back in the oven.
88:02And when he breaks up, guess what? You just got a new starter.
88:06When Terry McLaurin retires. Sell Christian Watson and let Roma Dunze just sit there, put him back in the oven.
88:12And when he breaks up, guess what? You just got a new starter.
88:16When Terry McLaurin retires. That was the wrong sound effect.
88:19I like Jalen Noel a lot. I just wish he wasn't buried on the Houston roster.
88:23I wish he could read a playbook. Day three wide receivers and coach talk.
88:28I don't know if I have a fully baked Quentin Johnston take.
88:31You don't like this guy. You hate say flowers.
88:34We're debating months. You just said 0.5. And I was dominant for like six years.
88:38Dominant. I won like five titles in like seven years.
88:41Well, yeah, I did. I drafted him when he's in the womb and I just kind of sat there and he's been sitting on my bench, but.
88:49It's not possible because you're younger than Patrick Mahomes.
88:52I'm not doing that. I hate this trade. Eli Heidenreich.
88:55Remember when that guy gave me Jameer Gibbs and I won the championship three years in a row?
89:00What is Lamar though? Like what even is like if Lamar's Lamar?
89:04But they have admitted that it's no longer being pursued, whatever that means.
89:08It's interesting again, as a play on words, that the police are no longer pursuing the case.
89:13So, you know, pursuit, police pursuit. Unreal. Wow. That was awful.
89:16Unreal. That was really terrible. That was truly, truly bad.
89:19I wish he could read a playbook.
