Aaron Rodgers

PositiveProjection26:25

Despite visible injuries (blood on elbow, large knee brace, wrist issues), continues to execute at a high level, pulling off plays that demonstrate his ability to overcome physical limitations.

Insight page

Baker Mayfield

NegativeBust19:00

Mayfield had a disastrous Week 1 performance against the Bengals, fumbling three times, all lost. The source describes these as 'quite literally all preventable' and notes they were 'the difference in this game.' Mayfield scrambled around 'to nowhere' and took hits from behind on multiple occasions. The source calls it a 'Baker Mayfield Blues Implosion game' and notes 'the play was not vaguely respectable' despite the numbers looking 'vaguely respectable.'

Insight page

Bijan Robinson

NegativeProjection31:15

Source mentions Bijan Robinson against the Steelers in Week 1 but provides no specific analysis or statistics. Source humorously notes 'I only remember Bijan Robinson' when discussing the Falcons game, suggesting Robinson was the standout performer but no detailed film review is provided in this excerpt.

Insight page
PositiveProjection31:20

Robinson looked like maybe the best player at any position in the entire league in Week 1 against Pittsburgh; posted 173 scrimmage yards with incredible acceleration, twitch, and change of direction; made a crazy one-handed catch on a screen and housed a screen from the 23-yard line that gave Atlanta the lead. The source notes he overcame a terrible offensive effort from Cooper Rush and the Falcons' 88 total yards in the first half. Two fumbles (once on third-and-one, once on a 27-yard screen gain) were the only flaw, but the Falcons did not punish him for either.

Insight page

Bryce Young

PositiveProjection17:00

Young was 'very good' in the Panthers' high-scoring game against the Bears, throwing a dime to Jalen Coker on a double move and orchestrating a scramble drill where Chuba Hubbard scored. The source notes Young 'wasn't as good as Caleb Williams, but he was very good' and his interception came with five seconds left in the first half, so 'we're not beating him up for that one.'

Insight page

Bucky Irving

PositiveRole21:00

Irving was the Buccaneers' main guy in Week 1 with 32 snaps to Kenneth Gainwell's 24 (Gainwell was returning kicks). Despite fumbling on Tampa's third drive after a short catch, Irving was back in the game and 'had seven catches in this game and looked awesome in the open field.' The source notes 'Bucky Irving is the main guy there' and references the Buccaneers' two-year track record of showing 'when he's healthy, Irving is their main guy.'

Insight page
PositiveRole21:31

Irving is Tampa's main guy when healthy; he had seven catches and looked awesome in the open field in Week 1. The source notes that over the past two years, Tampa has done everything to signal Irving is their primary back, though other guys will work in due to NFL platoons. Sean Tucker was inactive but could steal touchdowns when healthy. Irving scored a touchdown inside two minutes in the first half.

Insight page

C.J. Stroud

NegativeProjection42:38

Despite some solid quick throws, Stroud's footwork and pocket presence remain concerning in year four; took an 11-yard drop on a shotgun snap (should be max 10 yards) on the final sack/fumble, failed to step up into the pocket, and showed inaccuracy on off-platform throws—described as rookie mistakes that undermine confidence in his development trajectory.

Insight page
PositiveProjection45:22

Stroud went toe-to-toe with Josh Allen, made more than just short throws, and single-handedly drove the Texans down the field late in the game to keep them competitive; showed enough to warrant reconsideration of earlier concerns about his performance.

Insight page

Cade Stover

NegativeRole46:06

Cade Stover is making catches in the Texans offense alongside other tight ends, indicating a crowded target distribution; not a reliable fantasy option.

Insight page

Caleb Williams

NegativeProjection13:00

Williams had an 'awesome performance' in the Bears' 59-point offensive explosion, throwing multiple touchdowns and running for two more. The source notes he had 'an insane throw from deep in his own territory' in the two-minute drill at the end of the first half and made 'a great throw' on a deep fade to Cole Kmet. His only mistake was a 'horrible interception from the Panthers' one' that was negated by an offsides call. The source suggests this offense may be 'close to' breaking every record, referencing Ben Johnson's training camp comments.

Insight page

Carson Wentz

NegativeProjection48:52

Despite putting up 39 points and three touchdowns on the scoreboard in Week 1, the source warns against taking the bait on Wentz's performance; watching the film reveals he didn't look as good as the box score suggests; much of the offense's success came from the Vikings defense giving better field position and stops rather than Wentz's play.

Insight page

CeeDee Lamb

NegativeUsage29:57

Lamb drew two pass interference calls in three plays in the third quarter, one in the end zone that set up Javante Williams' touchdown. Lamb also scored a touchdown on a play where Williams' TD was overturned. Source notes the Cowboys offense 'did not look like a wagon' in this game.

Insight page

Chase Brown

PositiveUsage23:47

Brown got multiple red zone carries and scored a touchdown up the gut. After Jamar Chase and T. Higgins set up the Bengals in the red zone, Brown got a carry to the three-yard line, then later scored on another up-the-gut carry. He was the beneficiary of red zone work in Cincinnati's dominant first half.

Insight page

Chris Brooks

PositiveRole51:50

Chris Brooks looked better than Marshawn Lloyd in Week 1 despite a 2-to-1 carry disadvantage; Brooks is a better zone blocking scheme runner and showed superior performance in that area.

Insight page
PositiveUsage54:03

In Week 1 against Arizona, Chris Brooks started for Green Bay and gained 15 yards on his first carry, immediately establishing himself as a productive option in the Packers backfield despite preseason expectations that Marshawn Lloyd would be the featured back.

Insight page

Chris Godwin

NegativeUsage22:30

Godwin had a couple of good plays including a great stiff arm for a nice gain, but when Mayfield had his choice early in the game, Emeka Atoka was the primary option. Limited usage suggests Godwin was not a focal point of the offense in Week 1.

Insight page

Christian Watson

PositiveRole50:02

Christian Watson built the lead in Week 1 vs. Vikings, indicating strong early performance in the first half before the Packers' offensive struggles in the fourth quarter.

Insight page

Chuba Hubbard

PositiveUsage16:45

Hubbard was 'the Chuba show' for the Panthers, scoring twice and playing 43 snaps to Jonathan Brooks' 12. He caught a pass on a Bryce Young scramble drill for a touchdown on the first drive after getting stuffed from the one. The source notes he 'looked like the dude that we loved from two years ago' with 'very good runs, powerful, pretty fast' and 'a real good showing for him.'

Insight page

Cole Kmet

NegativeUsage13:45

Kmet caught a deep fade touchdown in the second quarter on 'a great throw by Caleb Williams and a really good catch too,' helping the Bears reach 21-7 early in the game.

Insight page

Colston Loveland

NegativeUsage15:30

Loveland was 'out there plenty' in the Bears' dominant offensive performance but did not get a single catch. He had a target over the middle that Caleb Williams thought he was going to power down but Loveland kept going, and an end zone target he couldn't quite bring in.

Insight page

D'Andre Swift

PositiveUsage12:30

Swift was 'basically Chicago's backfield to start this game' and 'looked awesome.' He had a 32-yard run where he powered through two tackles instead of bouncing outside, setting up a Caleb Williams touchdown. He got two carries from in close and converted the second for a touchdown. He scored again later in the game and had a Basura time touchdown very late, helping the Bears reach 59 points. The source notes the numbers will make it look like more of a split job than it really was.

Insight page

Dak Prescott

NegativeProjection28:44

Threw an interception in the game against the Giants, contributing to Dallas's offensive struggles in a loss where the defense also played poorly.

Insight page

Dalton Schultz

NegativeRole45:54

Dalton Schultz gets targets in the Texans offense, making him a potential desperation tight end play, but the source does not trust anyone else in that offense; Schultz is the only tight end worth considering if extremely desperate.

Insight page

Daniel Jones

NegativeUsage28:08

Had one bad play where he did not account for a free runner, got hit hard, and fumbled; the ball popped up and was caught by one of his own linemen, showing decision-making and protection issues.

Insight page

David Montgomery

NegativeUsage46:31

23 touches to Woody Marks' 10 despite similar snap counts (37 vs 36); Montgomery is the clear goal-line back and first/second-down runner with occasional check-downs; two-to-one rushing attempts ratio favors Montgomery; Texans trust Montgomery more than Marks for consistency.

Insight page
NegativeProjection46:52

Looked 'juiceless' in Week 1 despite scoring touchdowns; the source considers selling high on Montgomery given the huge point output, questioning whether he's actually this good and suggesting he may be overvalued as an RB1.

Insight page

Devin Singletary

PositiveRole29:04

Singletary took over on a fourth quarter drive with something like five straight touches, including a pop-up screen that made it 28-14. Source indicates 'Singletary is probably the backup' to the lead back, but his usage late in the game suggests he's the clear backup role.

Insight page

DK Metcalf

PositiveUsage33:33

Metcalf had a terrible Week 1 game against Atlanta, finishing 4 for 40 in the box score, but the source emphasizes you 'had to be there' to see how bad it was. The Steelers were trying to get Metcalf going above all others. On the first drive, a third-down deeper ball to Metcalf was thrown too far. He got an end zone target in the second quarter that was close but knocked away. There were back-to-back drives with offensive interference calls on Metcalf. In the third quarter, a shot play on a stutter go was a beautiful throw, but Metcalf clearly interfered with the defender, who chopped down on his arm before the ball arrived—the call was not made. Late third quarter, another drop by Metcalf.

Insight page

Drake London

NegativeProjection31:34

Source states 'I'm just not the guy who's going to tell you you have to bench Drake London because of Cooper Rush,' suggesting London remains a viable fantasy option despite the backup quarterback situation.

Insight page
PositiveUsage31:54

London was nearly invisible in Week 1 against Pittsburgh, catching 2 of 2 targets for 29 yards. His first target was a short pass at the end of the first half; his second was a deep out on which he got body slammed for a personal foul out of bounds. The source's pre-Week 1 stance was not to bench London because of Cooper Rush, but after Week 1 the source notes it 'feels closer' to doing so given Rush's poor play.

Insight page

Drew Sample

NegativeUsage24:00

Sample got a red zone catch, which the source notes is not a positive development for fantasy purposes. He was not a focal point of Cincinnati's offense despite the team's dominant performance.

Insight page

George Pickens

NegativeUsage30:10

Pickens had two drops in Week 1; one was 'just brutal'—a one-on-one deep shot up the right sideline from deep in Dallas's own territory that 'if that doesn't go right through his duck hands, it might be something like an 80-yard bomb touchdown.' Source concludes 'Pickens' mistakes were bad' and notes the Cowboys offense 'did not look like a wagon.'

Insight page

Isaiah Likely

NegativeUsage27:58

Had a fumble late in the first quarter against the Cowboys, though the Giants recovered; indicates ball security concerns in early-season action.

Insight page

Ja'Marr Chase

NegativeMatchup23:03

Chase was impacted by missed pass interference calls in the first half against Tampa. The source notes that Tampa defenders clutched and pulled on Chase when the ball was thrown his way, but the officiating did not call it. Two obvious missed PI calls in the first half—one on third down that would have been a big catch, one a spot fade to the end zone that likely would have been a touchdown—directly cost Chase scoring opportunities.

Insight page

Jake Ferguson

NegativeUsage30:30

Ferguson got interfered with on the goal line, drawing a pass interference call that benefited the Cowboys offense. Source notes the Cowboys 'got the benefit of a bomb Pickens' pass interference' and other PI calls, suggesting favorable officiating rather than strong offensive execution.

Insight page

Jalen Coker

PositiveUsage17:00

Coker was 'awesome' for the Panthers, having two huge gains on out and ups in the first half, including a long touchdown. The first was 'a dime from Bryce Young and a great toe tap from Coker' and the second was 'a long touchdown for Coker in the second quarter.' He scored his second touchdown in Basura time.

Insight page

Jalen Hurts

PositiveProjection54:59

Jalen Hurts threw three touchdowns in Week 1 against Washington, including a critical third-and-16 scramble that essentially won the game; while some touchdown variance may have been present, the source credited him with a great play on the game-deciding scramble.

Insight page

Javonte Williams

NegativeUsage29:57

Williams had a touchdown overturned by replay on the goal line, then got the ball on the next play where CeeDee Lamb scored instead. Williams got his touchdown later, actually a couple. However, 'didn't have a ton of room to run against the Giants defense,' which source notes 'would not have been a very good sign in 2025.'

Insight page

Jayden Higgins

NegativeInjury46:10

Got hurt during Week 1, limiting his fantasy value going forward.

Insight page
NegativeInjury46:40

Jaden Higgins got hurt, which is unfortunate for the Texans offense and fantasy value.

Insight page

Jeremiyah Love

NegativeRole5:47

Love got two straight carries inside the 5-yard line and scored on the second, but was outcarried 17-11 and out-snapped 41-32 by Tyler Algier. The source notes Algier was in the game when the Cardinals were killing the clock and on two other possessions where he could have gotten a touchdown. Love showed quickness and ability to make defenders miss, but his plays weren't well blocked. The source advises not to panic if you have shares, as the selection was made with the long season in mind.

Insight page

Joe Burrow

NegativeProjection24:45

Burrow had an unforgivable interception late in the third quarter where he totally telegraphed a screen pass and had it picked off. This was a notable negative play in an otherwise dominant Bengals performance.

Insight page
NegativeProjection24:59

Threw an unforgivable interception late in the third quarter by totally telegraphing a screen pass, indicating decision-making issues that could impact fantasy performance.

Insight page

Jonathon Brooks

NegativeRole18:15

Brooks played only 12 snaps to Chuba Hubbard's 43 in Week 1, with A.J. Dillon getting work in Basura time. The source notes Brooks was considered questionable for much of the week and advises not using him in fantasy for Week 2, though one week doesn't tell us everything. 'All it takes is one week of a flip-flop and then we feel differently.'

Insight page

Jordan Love

NegativeMatchup49:00

In Week 1 vs. Vikings, Love had a tale of two halves: first half he wasn't pressured much because Vikings weren't aggressive with blitzes; fourth quarter Vikings sent blitz on every play (5-7 guys), and Packers did not adjust with more short routes or quick hitters until too late. Love got hit three times in a row and by the end looked broken; the source notes other teams will copy this formula.

Insight page

Justin Jefferson

PositiveUsage48:38

Made a bomb catch before halftime in Vikings' dominant Week 1 win over the Packers; involved in the offense's strong performance.

Insight page

Kalif Raymond

PositiveUsage16:15

Raymond 'looked like a weapon in this game' during the Bears' 59-point offensive explosion. The source notes 'Everybody looked like a weapon in this game' but specifically calls out Raymond as a standout.

Insight page

Kenneth Gainwell

NegativeRole21:15

Gainwell played 24 snaps to Bucky Irving's 32, with much of Gainwell's work coming on kick returns. He had a nice carry on one series but was not the primary back in the Buccaneers' offense.

Insight page

Kyle Pitts

NegativeProjection32:05

Pitts got a seam shot early in the game against Pittsburgh and was wide open, but Cooper Rush dramatically underthrew it, costing what could have been a long touchdown. The source notes, 'I don't like Kyle Pitts that much,' but the underthrow was on Rush, not Pitts.

Insight page

Kyler Murray

NegativeInjury48:27

Suffered a concussion in Week 1; expected to miss multiple games due to the injury.

Insight page

Luther Burden

NegativeUsage13:00

Burden started the game on a negative note by fumbling away a screen on the first drive. He rotated in and out with Romudunze and Cleef Raymond, likely due to a calf issue, but was part of the Bears' dominant offensive performance.

Insight page

Malik Nabers

PositiveUsage28:08

His first target of the game was nearly intercepted, suggesting early-game coverage challenges or quarterback accuracy issues on his routes.

Insight page

MarShawn Lloyd

NegativeRole16:06

Despite preseason hype about looking electric in training camp, Lloyd's Week 1 film showed technical deficiencies in zone run execution and awkward stutter-step footwork in the backfield that prevented him from generating momentum; the source observed only one impressive run among many inefficient carries, concluding he looked like another Packers backup running back rather than the prospect advertised.

Insight page
NegativeUsage51:50

Marshawn Lloyd had a 2-to-1 carry ratio vs. Chris Brooks in Week 1, but the source thought Brooks looked better overall. Lloyd showed technical running issues: he overran his mark on gap runs, stuttered with a 90-degree turn that negated his momentum, and got hit in the backfield. Lloyd is better suited for lateral cuts and needs to get going first rather than zone runs; the source concluded Lloyd looked slow.

Insight page

Marvin Harrison Jr.

NegativeRole5:05

Harrison had only one catch in the Cardinals' dominant Week 1 win, a deep bomb in the third quarter. The source notes he was not on the field in the multi-tight end one receiver set when McBride caught a touchdown on play action, which the source calls 'a gnarly sign.' The source recommends lowering Harrison's expectations based on this performance.

Insight page

Mike Gesicki

NegativeUsage24:00

Gesicki stood out in the box score with three straight catches in the two-minute drill at the end of the first half, where Tampa left him uncovered and Joe Burrow took advantage. However, the source notes that Gesicki's box-score presence was more than Higgins or Chase, which was unfortunate given the circumstances. He also scored a touchdown when Chase Brown's carry to the three was followed by a red zone catch for Gesicki.

Insight page

Nico Collins

NegativeProjection45:22

Nico Collins will be fine; the source's earlier concern about Collins was actually a proxy for concern about CJ Stroud, and Collins showed enough in week 1 to warrant reconsideration of downside risk.

Insight page

Omarion Hampton

NegativeUsage8:00

Hampton scored on a powerful run through a defensive tackle on the Chargers' first drive, but fumbled on the second series when he stumbled and ran into his receiver blocking for him, knocking the ball out. Despite the fumble, he played 29 snaps to Keaton Mitchell's 16. The source believes in Hampton as a power back but questions whether Arizona's defense is legitimately strong or if the Chargers' offense simply underperformed.

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

NegativeUsage55:51

Saquon Barkley was featured in Philadelphia's horizontal stretch-zone scheme in Week 1, averaging around seven yards per carry; the Eagles' offensive design emphasized horizontal plays and screens to set up play-action deep shots, though many of these horizontal plays were blown up in the backfield, limiting the effectiveness of the scheme.

Insight page

Ted Hurst

NegativeUsage22:42

Rookie Ted Hurst had three catches that came back-to-back-to-back in a borderline Basora situation at the end of the game. The source did not see enough usage the rest of the time to recommend adding him in most leagues.

Insight page

Tee Higgins

NegativeUsage24:00

Higgins had big gains in the second quarter that helped set up Cincinnati in the red zone alongside Jamar Chase, but did not score. Later, Higgins made a really good catch on a deep post in the final drive to get a first down. The source notes that Gesicki's box-score presence was more than Higgins or Chase, which was unfortunate.

Insight page
PositiveUsage25:02

Made a really good catch on a deep post route late in the game to secure a final first down, demonstrating continued involvement in critical moments for the Bengals offense.

Insight page

Tetairoa McMillan

NegativeUsage17:45

McMillan caught a deep in-breaking route and looked like he would get loose but fumbled at the end of the run, gaining 21 yards before losing the ball. Later in Basura time, he made a catch and was pushed out at the one when it looked like maybe he'd scored, but nobody even showed a replay.

Insight page

Trey McBride

PositiveUsage2:30

McBride was the Cardinals' primary receiving target in their dominant Week 1 win over the Chargers, catching a seam shot for 27 yards on the first series and repeatedly moving the sticks on third downs. The source notes he was open on play action in the red zone where he caught a touchdown, and was featured throughout the game as the Cardinals' offense proved it could block the LA pass rush and hit zone passes to McBride and Kendrick Bourne.

Insight page

Tucker Kraft

NegativeRole50:20

Tucker Kraft played a lot but not all snaps in Week 1; he rotated with John O. Smith, indicating a timeshare rather than a workhorse role.

Insight page

Tyrone Tracy

NegativeUsage28:24

Fumbled in the red zone on a play immediately following Daniel Jones's fumble, indicating ball security issues for the Giants running back in critical scoring situations.

Insight page
NegativeRole28:24

Tracy fumbled in the red zone early in the game. Source notes 'it pretty clearly to me looked like Singletary was already Scadaboo's backup even before the Tyrone Tracy fumble' and states 'I don't believe that Tracy played another snap thereafter, at least not on offense.' Source concludes 'I don't think you have to have Tyrone Tracy on any teams.'

Insight page

Woody Marks

NegativeUsage46:34

10 touches to Montgomery's 23 despite similar snap counts (36 vs 37); limited to hurry-up situations and goal-line scenarios; the source believes Marks has more overall juice than Montgomery but the Texans trust Montgomery more for consistency.

0:00It's the Harris Fantasy Football Podcast with your host, Christopher Harris.
0:04Hey everybody, welcome in. My name is Chris. This is a show with games.
0:08What is going on you yacht possums? Thank you so much for listening today.
0:13I hope you're doing well. You know we gotta give you a little taste of this.
0:18Your goal, my goal, our goal is to try and find the right balance between the million little assumptions that were underpinning
0:25all of our reasons for liking and not liking players in fantasy football for this year and the actual facts that were
0:32revealed to us in actual games on Sunday. The problem, of course, is that there's no rule that can help us do this.
0:39It is, despite the people who are gonna start throwing a billion metrics at you this morning, no equation that can tell
0:47you when to start letting go of your preseason beliefs.
0:50Some of these beliefs, it will turn out that they were wrong and we should never have indulged in them at all.
0:57Others will end up being true and we'll look back on week one of the NFL as the very small sample size that it is.
1:05The better we get at fantasy, though, plus the happier we are playing fantasy football is just try and rid our minds
1:12of this notion that there is a right answer that you can always know.
1:17After zero games, you can always know. After one game, you can always know.
1:21We do not. We did not know. The Sunday livestream yesterday was a blast.
1:26Loved everybody in there. But there are people who just really seem to think that I know what's gonna happen, which I
1:33do not, especially when nothing meaningful has happened yet.
1:36I will, of course, cop to not knowing what's gonna happen next week, too.
1:40But at least now we have some meaningful context, by which I mean we've had games that actually matter.
1:46And the coaches have stopped lying and started actually showing us their hands.
1:51And so that's what Mondays and Tuesdays are for this show.
1:54I'm just gonna try and tell you what I thought I saw when I watched each game all the way through.
2:01Doesn't mean my observations are perfect or even correct.
2:04But what I can promise you for sure is I really don't care if I'm wrong.
2:09I truly don't mind if a flag player goes up in flames or if a bus turns into a great fantasy weapon.
2:16I, of course, am trying to do that same balancing act, trying not to flush everything I told you or that I
2:23thought might happen based on one game. But I'll just always try to do my best and be honest about where I am with certain players.
2:32And if you disagree, that's great. You should listen to you.
2:35Like, I'm just giving you my opinion. Let's get started today with some mind palaces going boom in the Cardinals' win over the Chargers.
2:43If we could completely eliminate our priors and just say what happened in this game, Cardinals look like the much better team, really on both sides.
2:52Now, we shouldn't get rid of our priors because it's one game.
2:55But it was a thorough beatdown that, to my mind, started with the Cardinal passing game picking right up where it ended
3:03as it was getting blown the hell out down the stretch last year.
3:07Except this time it was doing it in a close game and then doing it with the lead.
3:13The Chargers just couldn't get the ball back. The time of possession was 38-22.
3:17And honestly, as I was watching it live, I would have believed it was more lopsided than that.
3:23The 8.5 point favorite Chargers at home were not able to get the ball away from Jacoby Brissett, who was excellent.
3:30Also, that Trey McBride guy, what a game. He was awesome too.
3:34LA tried everything they could think of. McBride caught a seam shot for 27 on the first series that got them going.
3:41You have a Marv Jr. pass that ricocheted off his hands.
3:44It was Tyler Algier in the backfield to start.
3:47Then Jeremiah Love came in when Arizona was inside the 5 and got two straight carries.
3:52He scored on the second. 7-0 Cardinals. And yes, first play of the second quarter.
3:57Brissett took a deep shot to Michael Wilson. It had a chance.
4:01It was well defended, but it hit Wilson's hands too.
4:04I would have loved for him to catch that.
4:07But otherwise, this seemed to my eyes to be the Chargers playing two safeties back and the Cardinals just proving over and
4:14over that they could block the LA pass rush and throw and hit zone passes to McBride and Kendrick Bourne of all people.
4:22That's who kept moving the sticks. Bourne had two conversions on important first half third downs.
4:27Wilson was there. Harrison kind of not. Kind of invisible.
4:30Slants to Kendrick Bourne of all things. And then the next time the Cardinals were in the red zone after another meticulous
4:37drive, Algier was in and got a short catch, but then they kicked a field goal.
4:43Things started to open up in the two-minute drill at the end of the half.
4:47McBride and Wilson had catches. Another deep shot to Wilson drew a long pass interference.
4:52Then deep in the red zone. It was the only time Brissett lost his mind all day.
4:58He was getting sack and it was like he's standing at his five yard at the Charger five yard line and just flung it toward the end zone.
5:07Should have been an easy interception. Two LA defenders crashed into each other and dropped it.
5:12So it was a field goal and they was up 13-7 Arizona at the half.
5:17Marvin Harrison's only catch came early third quarter. Another bomb shot.
5:20Really good play by him. But Marvin Harrison not being the allegations of being a sacrificial ex.
5:26And for the moment, I think you probably have to lower Harrison a little bit in your expectations.
5:32Arizona blocked a punt in the fourth quarter. Got the ball inside the five.
5:36Algier was in again. So let's not think that Jeremiah Love got the goal line.
5:41He got stuffed. Then McBride and Wilson were both open on play action and McBride caught the score.
5:47And on that particular play, Harrison not even on the field.
5:51That seems like kind of a gnarly sign indeed when in your multi-tight end one receiver set, the one receiver is not Marvin Harrison.
5:58As for the backfield, as for Jeremiah Love, I didn't really see any outward sign of the ankle, which is great.
6:05You're going to see Algier out carrying Love 17-11 and out snapping him 41-32.
6:10Those numbers probably deserved to be a little closer than that because Algier was in the game when they were killing the
6:17clock on some drives at the end. Love gets the touchdown.
6:20And Algier was in for two other possessions where he could have gotten a touchdown.
6:25We know what Algier is. He's a physical dude.
6:28It's a good sign for Love that the first time in close he got two carries.
6:33Less good sign the next couple times it was Algier in there.
6:37Ability-wise, I would say Love was pretty bottled up.
6:40But I think his plays also weren't that well blocked.
6:43And I could definitely see some quickness that is not normal.
6:47I could see Love do things that Tyler Algier can't, including getting stuffed immediately in the backfield, but making that first guy
6:54miss with a lightning-quick move, but unfortunately then just still getting avalanched.
6:58If you were listening to us this summer, I doubt too many people have too many shares of Jeremiah Love.
7:04But if you do, it's not a freakout situation.
7:07You know, you made that selection with the long season in mind and a hope down the road that things tip Love's way.
7:15But certainly, he's not a big guy. I will say that from having watched him once now.
7:20He's going to have to win with speed and quickness.
7:23For the Chargers, talk about mind palaces. Last year, the thing that was just absolutely for sure, set in concrete for the
7:31Chargers, as you'll recall, was everybody going on every show and saying, well, you know, the Chargers too run heavy for there
7:38to be much value in Justin Herbert or the passing game.
7:41And I thought that was crazy. And for a month, they came out and were very, very pass-heavy.
7:47And it was great. And they were terrific on offense before it all went to hell in a flurry of line injuries.
7:54This summer, Mike McDaniel was there. So the only question most of the experts were asking was, hey, who's the Tyreek Hill in that offense?
8:02And the answer in week one was, ugh, nobody.
8:05It was not a good performance. It was pretty embarrassing.
8:08It was a good first drive. And Ladd McConkie getting hurt later in the game could have been part of the problem for sure.
8:16That first drive, McConkie's first two catches, he wasn't really the main guy, but he was a good check down or like
8:23fallback option for the coverage, which we'll take. The third catch was designed for him.
8:28And it got the Chargers into the red zone, whereupon Omari and Hampton, hey, listen, that was a good run for his touchdown.
8:36That was real power. He ran through a defensive tackle on that play.
8:40And then Kevin Harlan called him Omario Hampton, which I loved.
8:43It's-a me, Omario. However, from that point forward, Omario might want to avert his eyes during his film review when the Chargers have him in the room.
8:52Second series, a softie of a fumble in which Hampton tried to galump around the left edge and stumbled and ran directly
8:59into his receiver, blocking for him, which knocked the ball out and gave the Cardinals field position.
9:05There was no punishment for that. The Chargers put him right back out there on the next series.
9:11And Hampton would play 29 snaps while Keaton Mitchell would play 16.
9:14Four or five of those 16 from Mitchell were at the very end when, I mean, Herbert was in there still, but they were dead.
9:23So I think all that circumstantial stuff is okay.
9:25The touchdown's really good. I believe in Omario as a power back, but I don't know.
9:31Is Arizona supposed to be able to control the line of scrimmage like that on defense?
9:36Maybe. Maybe that's a change we're going to have to get used to.
9:40McDaniel's offense for one week did not look like an improvement on Greg Romans.
9:45At the end of the third quarter, McConkie got absolutely crushed on a third and long deep in cut and left the game holding his back and hip.
9:54And we'll have to see what they say about that.
9:57And down nine in the fourth quarter on an okay drive.
10:00Herbert pulled a week one Drake May and got frustrated and just flung it up deep because I thought he was just tired of getting hit.
10:09It was an easy interception near the goal line late in the game.
10:13Game was over. It was third and 30 for the Chargers, and they had to call a timeout because they weren't about to get delay of game.
10:22That certainly was not how that game was supposed to go.
10:25But that's the world we live in. And now we have to decide how much to react.
10:31Today's kickoff. Okay, on today's show, if you know the little podcast that could, well, that's what you're getting today.
10:37Film review. I have watched eight of the games from Sunday, and we will talk about them.
10:43Coming up, we will review Bears-Panthers, Buccaneers-Bengals, Cowboys-Giants, and Falcons-Steelers.
10:46And then my guest will be Sam Gold. And Sam picked three more games for us to talk about that we both watched all the way through.
10:55We've got Bills-Texans. A shootout, just like everyone predicted.
10:58We've got Vikings-Packers and Commanders-Eagles. I think you'll have fun listening.
11:01I hope you'll hear out the sponsors, because that's how this show continues to exist.
11:06I thank you so much for being here today.
11:09We are sponsored by the bed I watched some of these games we're talking about today in.
11:15My bed. That would, of course, be Leesa. I know that not everybody hearing the sound of my voice this very second needs a new bed.
11:23But some of you might. And if you do, I cannot recommend a Lisa bed more.
11:28Mine is incredible for me. I've been sleeping on Leesa for a decade.
11:32If you go to leesa.com, you can take a mattress quiz, figure out the best one for you.
11:38They have a lineup, each designed with specific sleep positions and feel preferences in mind.
11:43They send the bed direct to your door. You get four months to make sure it's perfect for you.
11:49And if it's not, get your money back. No questions asked.
11:53Wirecutter calls Lisa their best hybrid and best memory foam mattress.
11:56They are featured by West Elm as their go-to mattress partner.
12:00And even if you don't need one this moment, I hope you'll remember for when you do.
12:05Great company. And I love the mattress. And right now, we are in their Labor Day extended sale.
12:11Get 25% off select mattresses at lisa.com. And check out with the code Harris, you'll get another $50 off the top.
12:1825% off at leesa.com. For another $50 off, use that code Harris.
12:22Scorelessness is hopelessness. And hopelessness will soon regress and regress into stat progress.
12:26But the stats were empty just like me. I don't know.
12:30I think we got to talk about the Bears.
12:33I think we got to talk about DeAndre Swift, whose music that is.
12:37He was pretty great in the Chicago offense's disemboweling of Carolina's defense.
12:41I think the numbers are going to make it look like more of a split job than it really was when you watched it.
12:48Swift basically was Chicago's backfield to start this game.
12:51And he looked awesome. He looked awesome. Luther Burden actually had started things off on a negative note by fumbling away a screen on the first drive.
13:00But the second Bears series, Swift had a 32-yard run that had me saying, who are you and what have you done with DeAndre Swift?
13:08We make fun of the bounce outside tendencies. I kind of lectured Andy Behrens about them on Wednesday as though he doesn't know.
13:16And I mean, he powered through two tackles on that run.
13:19He probably could have tried to bounce, but instead just kind of ran over guys right into traffic.
13:25It was a great run and a great day.
13:28It set up a Cale Williams touchdown scramble in the red zone.
13:32Third possession, Romudunze didn't partake much of the scoring splendor for Chicago.
13:36He kind of rotated in and out a little more than Burden and Cleef Raymond did, probably about his calf.
13:42But Adunze did make a sick catch over a defensive back's head deep for a 47-yard gain that gave Swift two carries from in close.
13:50He converted the second. Kyle Monungay did not get a touch until early second quarter, a reception that he took down inside
13:57the 25, which set up Cole Komet on a deep fade.
14:01What a great throw by Caleb Williams and a really good catch too.
14:05And it was 21-7 Bears. And this could have been more.
14:09The offense went for it on a fourth and one from their own 20 or so and didn't get it, handing the Panthers points.
14:16And the Chicago defense may not be very good, could not handle double moves in this game.
14:22Jalen Coker had two huge gains on out and ups, one for a long touchdown.
14:27The Panthers would muff a punt inside their own 30 and give Chicago the ball there.
14:32Bad idea. Caleb had an insane throw from deep in his own territory in the two-minute warning or the two-minute drill, you
14:39know, at the end of the first half. And then Caleb got his second touchdown run.
14:44He almost would have a third touchdown run in the fourth quarter, got stopped at the one.
14:50Swift would score again. Then Carolina punted away. First play is a middle screen to Monungay and he houses it for 61
14:57yards, kind of looking quasi-fast, or at least faster than the guys pursuing him.
15:01Caleb's only mistake was a horrible interception from the Panthers' one that almost kept Carolina in the game, except the Panthers had lined up offsides.
15:10Swift would get a Basora time touchdown very late and get the Bears to 59 points.
15:15You know what I was thinking as I was watching?
15:18I didn't see it live. I watched it last night.
15:21This is what Cousin Josh wants every game to be.
15:24If there aren't 95 combined points, keep it away from Cousin Josh.
15:28And of course, we have Ben Johnson's words ringing in our ears from training camp when he said something like, I want to break every record.
15:37Yeah, that offense was purely unstoppable. And Williams was awesome.
15:40That was an awesome performance. And they didn't even get a single catch out of Colston Loveland, who was out there plenty.
15:47He had a target over the middle that I think Williams thought he was going to power down and Loveland kept going.
15:54And then there was an end zone target that he couldn't quite bring in.
15:59And what we're going to need to know is whether the Panthers defense, which I personally thought had a chance to be
16:06pretty good, signing Jalen Phillips and Devin Lloyd. Do they just super suck again?
16:10Or Chicago just going to do this to everybody?
16:13I have a feeling it might be that Chicago is going to do this to everybody.
16:18Khalif freaking Raymond looked like a weapon in this game.
16:22Everybody looked like a weapon in this game. I think for week two, you have to immediately assess this as maybe the offense or close to it anyway.
16:31And of course, if it turns out to be one week, it turns out to be one week.
16:37For the Panthers, I think the biggest point of our inquiry was always going to be the backfield.
16:42For one week, by the standards of the NFL in 2026, that was not a platoon.
16:48That was the Chuba show. Chuba Hubbard scored twice.
16:51On the first drive, he got stuff from the one, but would wind up catching a pass on a Bryce Young scramble drill and score anyway.
16:59Coker was awesome here. I mentioned those two bombs in the first half.
17:03Double moves out and ups. The first one was a dime from Bryce Young and a great toe tap from Coker.
17:10And then a long touchdown for Coker in the second quarter.
17:14Panther offense moved it great in the first half.
17:16And okay, a little less great in the second half, but it was 31-31 in the third quarter.
17:22Any chance of staying in it really ended when Tedaroa McMillan caught a deep in-breaking route and looked like he would get
17:29loose, but fumbled at the end of the run.
17:32He gained 21 yards, but then lost the ball.
17:35And then in absolute Basura time, McMillan made a catch and was pushed out at the one when it looked like maybe
17:42he'd scored, but nobody even showed a replay. And Coker scored his second touchdown instead.
17:47I think we kind of have to say the same thing about Chicago's defense as we do Carolina's.
17:53Does it just really super stink? And that's why Carolina was able to move it so well for about, I don't know, three quarters or so?
18:01Or has Bryce Young really taken a step forward?
18:04I thought Young wasn't as good as Caleb Williams, but he was very good.
18:09His pick was five seconds left in the first half.
18:12We're not beating him up for that one. And then that Panthers backfield.
18:16It really was mostly all Chuber. 43 snaps for him.
18:2012 for Jonathan Brooks, which doesn't mean Brooks is a must-cut in all leagues.
18:24One week doesn't tell us everything, especially when Brooks was considered questionable for a lot of this week.
18:30But, you know, Basora time, A.J. Dillon was in there.
18:33Certainly for one week, Hubbard goes to the front of the line and you're not, even if you don't cut him, you're
18:40not going to be using Jonathan Brooks in a fantasy league for week two.
18:45But all it takes is one week of a flip-flop and then we feel differently.
18:50But Hubbard looked like the dude that we loved from two years ago.
18:54Not huge rushing numbers, but very good runs. Powerful, pretty fast.
18:57It was a real good showing for him. Next up, we'll talk Buccaneers, Bengals.
19:02You know, I was looking through my files. I can't believe I don't have a Baker Mayfield Blues Implosion sound drop.
19:09I really need one. Just like, you know, somebody who can sing the blues like Muddy Waters.
19:14I guess that's maybe why I don't have one because that's hard to do.
19:19But you got to be able to have that blues singer sound.
19:23But, you know, da-na-na-na-na. Because I really need that sound drop.
19:26Oh, my heavens. Was that ever a Baker Mayfield Blues Implosion game on Sunday?
19:31The numbers might look vaguely respectable. The play was not vaguely respectable.
19:35Tampa did their best to come back. They got it down to six points.
19:39But, oh, man. I mean, the second drive, Mayfield scrambled around to nowhere.
19:43Predictably got thumped from behind. It's a fumble six for the Bengals.
19:47Second quarter, he threw a pick. Although it was legitimately pass interference and it was called.
19:52And unlike what happened for Jamar Chase in most of that game, there was actually an interference call.
19:58So that interception was off the board. But then on that same drive, Tampa is in the red zone.
20:04And Mayfield again scrambles. And he's close. He's down inside the five.
20:08And once again takes a hit. And just fumbles into the end zone.
20:13And the Bengals recover. And then early fourth quarter, Mayfield again just clueless.
20:17Like he's, are you in a joint practice in your own mind and think you can hold on to it forever and they're not allowed to touch you?
20:26He just runs around and around. And once again hit from behind.
20:30Fumble again. Three fumbles. All lost. These were not like blindside hits where he was trying to throw.
20:35These are quite literally all preventable. And they were the difference in this game.
20:40Because I'm going to guess you've seen the numbers.
20:43The Bengal offense did not go off here really.
20:46But they just got saved by Mike Mayfield's largesse over and over.
20:50The sprinter soldier, Bucky Irving, saw what Mayfield was doing.
20:53And he thought, hey, I cannot let Baker take all the blame for this one.
20:58Can't do it. So he fumbled on Tampa's third drive.
21:01It was right after Kate Otten had been the fabric of our drops and had dropped a bad one.
21:07Irving made a wonderful move after a short catch and got into the clear and then got tackled.
21:13And he fumbled too. And for a moment watching it live, I was like, uh-oh.
21:18Because Kenneth Gainwell then came in for the next series, had a nice carry.
21:22But after Mayfield's interception was overturned, phew, Irving was back in there.
21:26The snap count goes 32 Irving, 24 Gainwell. But Gainwell was returning kicks.
21:31And it felt to me for one week anyway that all that freak out about how, you know, I know there are
21:38a lot of platoons, but we should really be losing our minds over Bucky Irving.
21:42And also, Bucky Irving only had 30 catches last year.
21:46He cannot catch the ball. The Buccaneers know it.
21:49He can't. Yeah, he had seven catches in this game and looked awesome in the open field.
21:54Bucky Irving is the main guy there. I don't know what more Tampa could have done over these past two years to
22:01tell us that when he's healthy, Irving is their main guy.
22:05Other guys will certainly work in because that's the NFL.
22:08Sean Tucker was inactive for this game. I can't promise you that he won't steal touchdowns when he's right.
22:14But Irving looked awesome to me. He did score the touchdown inside two minutes in the first half.
22:20And we're happy coming out of this one. For the receivers, not a lot and no touchdowns.
22:26It felt to me watching it like Chris Godwin had a couple of good plays.
22:30He had a great stiff arm for a nice gain.
22:34But when Mayfield had his choice, when things were working early in the game especially, it felt to me like Emeka Abuka was the primary option.
22:42And you're going to see rookie Ted Hurst with three catches.
22:46They came back to back to back in borderline Basora there at the end.
22:50And I did not see enough usage the rest of the time for us to go out and race and add him in most leagues.
22:58The Bengals, I mean, I know what you're going to get for stories like, man, the Bengals defense.
23:04Oh, what a performance. Three turnovers. And like, I guess in the aggregate, that's true.
23:09They chased around the implosion and they got him to fumble.
23:12But I'll tell you, they had a hard time lining up on defense.
23:17I believe they lined up offsides on defense four times and got called for it.
23:22And there also was that costly pass interference. But I gotta not be a pure contrarian here.
23:27Perfect is the enemy of good. They were better.
23:30The officiating surely did not seem as concerned with Tampa defenders clutching and pulling on Jamar Chase when the ball was thrown his way.
23:38The first half, they missed two obvious pass interference calls on Tampa against Jamar Chase.
23:43One would have been a third down gain. That would have been a big catch.
23:47One was a spot fade right to the end zone and I think would have been a touchdown.
23:53Instead, Chase Brown got a carry up the gut to the three.
23:57And Mike Gesicki scored the touchdown instead that made it 14 to three.
24:01Later in the second quarter, Chase and T. Higgins finally both had big gains to set them up in the red zone.
24:08Drew Sample got a red zone catch, which we don't need.
24:12And then Chase Brown up the gut paid it off with his touchdown.
24:16Gesicki is gonna stand out in the box score, which he'll do sometimes.
24:20More than Higgins or Chase, unfortunately. There were three straight catches in the two-minute drill at the end of the first half
24:28for Gesicki where Tampa just sat way back and left him uncovered.
24:31And Joe Burrow took them up on the offer.
24:34Then Burrow ran a quarterback draw in the red zone.
24:38Imagine how that might have broken folks' brains if he'd scored a running touchdown.
24:42Then Chase Brown got another try but was stopped.
24:45They had to kick a field goal. They were up 24 to 10 at the half.
24:50And that should have been all she wrote. But Burrow had an unforgivable pick late third quarter, just totally telegraphing a screen and having it pick sixth.
24:59It wasn't really over until the last drive when T.
25:02Higgins went up to the deep post and made a really good catch to get the final first down.
25:08I don't think we're changing the way we feel about the Bengal skill guys.
25:13I guess unless maybe some NFL people, their reason for liking their skill guys is that the defense is so bad.
25:20And I don't know. That was never our reason.
25:23We are sponsored by Shopify. And if you purchased my almanac this year, you used Shopify because that's the platform I use.
25:30Turned out amazing, really. If you were coming to me as a friend and you were asking me for a recommendation on
25:37an e-commerce platform, I would tell you, use Shopify.
25:40I certainly did not have all the answers. I wasn't really even sure how to start setting it up.
25:46Shopify made it easy. A few simple steps. I had figured out how to upload the digital product and start selling.
25:53I honestly wish that I'd started using Shopify many years ago.
25:56Managing the orders is really easy. Getting payouts. Getting reports.
26:00Just simple stuff. If you're thinking of starting your own business, I personally recommend choosing Shopify.
26:05And they power a whole lot of very big companies online as well as my almanac.
26:10That's the sound of another sale. And maybe your first sale.
26:13You can get a free trial to see how your business can work on Shopify.
26:18Go to shopify.com slash Harris. Start that free trial today.
26:22Shopify.com slash Harris. Shopify. Shopify.com slash Harris. I tell you what, Tess.
26:25You saw Aaron Rodgers there. Blood on his elbow.
26:28Big old knee brace on. Hitting the wrist. It doesn't matter.
26:32He pulls another rabbit out of his head. Actually, we'll get to Aaron Rodgers and his current team pulling a rabbit out of his head.
26:40Remember when Jason Witten, they'll put anybody on. Okay.
26:43Anyway. Let's talk about Jason Witten's own former main team, the Dallas Cowboys.
26:47I believe I tried to tell Jim McCormick that the Cowboys giving points sight unseen on the road.
26:53Maybe not the best idea. And indeed, the Giants put on a really professional effort on Sunday night.
26:59Once again, I think if you didn't know anything about these teams, you would have watched this one and said, the Giants are just better.
27:07Better on defense for sure. But also probably, you'd say, based on one game, a better offensive environment.
27:13I don't know if that will hold true for the entire year.
27:17But for one week, it definitely did. Dallas' defense made a lot of mistakes.
27:21From the hit out of bounds on surf movie bad guy Jackson Dart to a bunch of blown coverages.
27:27Chris Collinsworth and the NBC crew, they were so ready to be like, oh, the Cowboys have turned it around on defense.
27:34They were so bad last year. But this new young defensive coordinator is going to be so much more buttoned up.
27:41And then all we saw last night was a complete unbuttoning.
27:45And to be fair, Collinsworth, to his credit, said, this is horrible.
27:49They're playing so bad. They just had to go against their own packages that they had prepared.
27:54There were moments where the Giants were a little bit loose on offense.
27:58Isaiah likely had a fumble late first quarter, but the Giants recovered.
28:02Malik Nabors' first target was nearly intercepted. And Jackson Dart, I thought, kind of had one play that was bad.
28:09And he did not account for a free runner.
28:12And he got splattered and he fumbled. The ball popped up in the air and was caught by one of his own linemen.
28:19But then very next play, Tyrone Tracy fumbles one away in the red zone anyway.
28:24But after Dak Prescott threw his interception, Dart led a wonderful two-minute drill at the end of the first half where the
28:31Giants were just methodical and took advantage of blown coverages.
28:34Likely scored. Made it 14-7 at the half. And then second half kind of wasn't a contest.
28:40John Harbaugh just had things bolted down and more professional.
28:43Two very long drives by Dart. Nothing crazy. Nothing really deep.
28:4712 plays and 13 plays. Each drive led to a touchdown.
28:50Likely caught his second TD on that drive. And that started the third quarter from in close.
28:56And then Devin's single carry took over on a fourth quarter drive with something like five straight touches, including a pop-up screen that made it 28-14.
29:04The Cowboys would score one more time, but then the Giants just not that much drama.
29:09Ran out the clock. Kept getting first downs. Dart himself ran plenty.
29:1354 yards and no really bad hits except the one out of bounds.
29:17Cam Scadaboo, the particle accelerator, finished off the first drive from inside the five and had a bloody nose within one half of one game of the season.
29:26It pretty clearly to me looked like Singletary was already Scadaboo's backup even before the Tyrone Tracy fumble.
29:32I don't believe that Tracy played another snap thereafter, at least not on offense.
29:37So that seems pretty settled. I don't think you have to have Tyrone Tracy on any teams.
29:42And Singletary is probably the backup. Neighbors in his first game does six for 69.
29:47Good stuff. A really good performance for Dart and the Giants.
29:51And the supposedly beyond reproach cowboy offense. Javante Williams got a touchdown overturned by replay on the goal line.
29:57And so they gave it to CeeDee Lamb on the next play.
30:01Williams would get his later. Actually, a couple. Didn't have a ton of room to run against the Giants defense.
30:07That would not have been a very good sign in 2025.
30:11But maybe the Giants D is on the way to finally growing up this year.
30:16And maybe we'll look back and understand and say, okay, you know, forgiven.
30:20Cowboys still trustable. But for one night, how can we say that Dallas looked like it had an elite offensive environment?
30:27It did not for one night. George Pickens had two drops.
30:30One was just brutal. One-on-one deep shot up the right sideline from deep in Dallas's own territory.
30:36If that doesn't go right through his duck hands, it might be something like an 80-yard bomb touchdown.
30:41Javante caught the second touchdown on a screen pass very late.
30:45Not a disastrous overall performance for the Dallas offense.
30:48But they did not look like a wagon. Not for one night.
30:52Pickens' mistakes were bad. And then the Giants just had the ball, like, all night.
30:5737 minutes to 23 minutes. And the Cowboys got the benefit of a bomb Pickens' pass interference.
31:02Jake Ferguson got interfered with on the goal line.
31:05Lamb drew two PIs in three plays in the third quarter.
31:09One in the end zone that set up Javante's touchdown.
31:12But, yeah, not so good for the Cowboy offense.
31:15And we'll wrap this part of the episode talking about Bajon Robinson against the Steelers.
31:20Oh, and I am touching my fictional earpiece and being told that actually other Atlanta Falcons were allowed to play in that game.
31:27I'm sorry. I only remember Bajon Robinson. Listen, ahead of Week 1, I'm just not the guy who's going to tell you
31:34you have to bench Drake London because of Cooper Rush.
31:37Coming out of Week 1? I'm probably still not that guy.
31:41Feels closer, though, because Cooper Rush was truly awful.
31:44Certainly the worst quarterback that I have watched from Week 1 so far.
31:48The Falcons had 88 total yards of offense in the first half, yet were somehow down only 13-7.
31:54Wait for it. You know why it was only 13-7.
31:57We'll get there in a moment. But throughout this game, Greg Olson was essentially calling out the Falcons' plays before they happened
32:04because it was pretty obvious when Rush lined up under center, it was a run.
32:09And when he was in shotgun, it was a pass.
32:12And then Olson also pointed out that Steelers had figured out Rush's cadence, his snap count, which, dude, how long have you been in the league?
32:21What do you practice all day? Can you not mix up your snap count?
32:25The TV crew kept saying, Falcons have no business being in this game, which was 100% true as you were watching it,
32:32and yet they were outgaining Pittsburgh for most of the game.
32:36By the end, Steelers did nudge ahead in total yards, but for the Falcons, it was an embarrassing offensive effort, except Bijan,
32:43who simply looked like maybe the best player at any position in the entire league.
32:48Just incredible acceleration and twitch and change of direction.
32:51173 scrimmage yards. A crazy one-handed catch on a screen thrown behind him.
32:55A screen from the 23 that he housed that gave Atlanta the lead.
32:59The one flaw was that he fumbled twice, once early on a third and one, and then late on a screen that had gained 27 yards both times.
33:08The Falcons fell on it, but we and they, clearly not punishing him.
33:13Drake London does two for 29. His first target was a shorty at the end of the first half.
33:19His second was a deep out on which he got body slammed for a personal foul out of bounds.
33:25Kyle Pitts got a seam shot early in the game, and he was wide open.
33:30I don't like Kyle Pitts that much, but I mean, Cooper Rush just dramatically underthrew it, or it might have been a long touchdown.
33:38I think if you're Atlanta, you watch this game, and you just say, Cooper Rush can't start for us, never again.
33:44You should probably release him. I don't care if it's Michael Penix.
33:48I don't care if it's Tua, or that rookie guy.
33:51It has to be someone else in week two.
33:54I was informally counting. I guess I should have gone back and actually counted.
33:59Did Cooper Rush have five passes batted down? Just not a presentable effort on his part.
34:04We're lucky Bajon is a good enough player to overcome it in week one.
34:09And the Falcons missed two field goals, or they could have won this game.
34:13The Steelers, a very terrible game for DK Metcalf.
34:16It's four for 40 in the scorebook, but you had to be there.
34:20I mean, they were trying to get Metcalf going above all others.
34:24There were no doubt. The first drive, third down, deeper ball to Metcalf, thrown too far.
34:29He got an end zone target. In the second quarter, it was close, but knocked away.
34:34There were back-to-back drives with offensive interference calls on decaf Metcalf.
34:38In the third quarter, a shot play to Metcalf on a stutter go.
34:42A beautiful throw, and Metcalf clearly interfered with. It was not called.
34:46Defender just chopped down on his arm before the ball got there.
34:50Then late third quarter, another drop by Metcalf. And meanwhile, Roman Wilson, I mean, I guess he won the number three job.
34:57There were times like maybe he was the number two in this game.
35:01Like, Michael Pittman, where are you? Early second quarter, the Falcons put all 11 guys within five yards of the line on
35:08a third down, and Aaron Rodgers threw a bomb to Roman Wilson that would have been a touchdown.
35:14So the defender had to tackle him for pass interference.
35:18There's a third and long in the third where Wilson runs a deep dig and catches it.
35:23And I was asking myself, actually, in the moment, I was checking the internet.
35:28Is Michael Pittman hurt? And then there was a third and 13 bomb in the second half that Wilson got his hands
35:35on and almost caught for a huge long gain, but the ground dislodged it.
35:39Wilson is fast, has obviously been an absolute cipher so far in his NFL career.
35:44He also did not run the same number of routes that Metcalf or Pittman did, but he was a factor.
35:51I'm not adding him. I don't think I'm adding him, but I'm going to have my eye on it.
35:57And we have to admit, Rodgers did try and go down the field more.
36:01He drew that long, long, long interference one. Uh, he should have drawn, drawn another interference on that Metcalf non-call.
36:08Everything else downfield was a miss, but it was less dinky and dunky with Mike McCarthy calling the plays.
36:14Although the deeper stuff wasn't particularly effective. And there, believe me, still were plenty of times where Rodgers would just get rid
36:21of it or dump it off rather than allow himself to be touched.
36:25The backfield, Jalen Warren fumbled away a screen late in the first quarter, but I didn't really see any punishment there.
36:32The snap count, I thought deceivingly high for Rico Dowdle based on what it looked like.
36:37It was 37 to 23 Dowdle over Warren, but Dowdle was the preferred pass blocker.
36:42And so that's probably why Warren out touched him 15 to 10.
36:46Clearly, I thought looked better than him as well.
36:49Jalen Warren looked good in this game, but whereas the Falcons, it's really hard to say what they're going to be when
36:56and if they get a real quarterback. The Steelers, you know, a little more downfield stuff, but just still all subject to the cranky whims of Aaron Rodgers.
37:05The wait is over. Football is here. We're talking about it.

37:45Varies by state. Today's guest. And today's guest is the great Sam Gold.
37:49I guess you could probably follow him on social media.
37:53He mostly does this because he's my friend and he's really good at it, but he has like a life and a real job and stuff.
38:01Hi, Sam. How are you? I'm doing great. I'm feeling like an adult, you know, not thinking about football, but thinking about it for this podcast.
38:09So I'm doing good. Yeah, man. You're off living an adult life, unlike the rest of us who are stunted in adolescence.
38:17But you're so kind to every, like if I make the call, you're always like, sure, I'll watch games for you.
38:23Absolutely. Which is very lovely of you and your opinion matters to me.
38:28So you picked three games. We'll start out with the one that probably was between the two best teams that we saw, maybe, I guess, Bills, Texans.
38:36Just like we suspected in the first half, it was 24 to 21 at halftime and there'd been 16 plays of 10
38:43plus yards, just like they drew it up. Not really.
38:47Like Houston's defense is not supposed to allow that.
38:50Frankly, I don't know that Buffalo's defense is supposed to allow that.
38:53Well, we can dispatch with the Bills, I think pretty quick.
38:57You know, James Cook, it's a tough task against Houston.
39:00Two rushing touchdowns that he gives up to Josh Allen.
39:03DJ Moore, really big production and a long interference drawn in the end zone that could have been another huge play.
39:10I wanted to talk about Dalton Kincaid because he's never really been my favorite, but he had an insane catch right before
39:17halftime and then he made the big play over the middle to set up the winning touchdown.
39:23I think you have to say Dalton Kincaid like proved a little something in this game.
39:28Yeah, absolutely. I loved how they started using him in this game.
39:32It was honestly kind of diabolical. Like, for example, that long catch before halftime where, you know, he kind of tracks the
39:39ball over his head and jumps back and catches it for, I don't know, it's like 50 yards or something.
39:46That was a sale concept, which is a, it's a three level flood where usually you send your fastest wide receiver deep.
39:53In this case, they send Kincaid, which is kind of nuts if you think about it.
39:58And usually the tight end somewhere low or somewhere in the middle.
40:02And that's like, that's generous usually, but this is Kincaid going deep and Alan like corking back and tossing it to him
40:09and him tracking the ball and catching it, which was awesome.
40:12And, and the other part of this too, is that not only was he used in kind of this deep ball way crosses over the middle.
40:21They also did some fun stuff with him where they would motion him out of twin stacks where you have two guys
40:28lining up back to back and kind of getting, giving him these premium looks.
40:32And these are legit targets and not just like, oh, just dump it off to Kincaid.
40:38These are legit offensive scheme targets, meaning that they want him involved, which is hugely positive for like all my dynasty shares of him.
40:45So, so hopefully this holds, I mean, I don't expect 130 yards again, but you know, if he gives me another 70, I'm in.
40:53I mean, it's tight end. It's a disgusting position.
40:56And to see a guy used in a way that I don't think we always see Dalton Kincaid used is pretty good.
41:03And that, and just like in terms of pure ball skills, you know, I talked about Gusecki earlier.
41:09He's going to stand out in the box score.
41:12I'm like, yeah, but that was all zone stuff where he wasn't really even covered.
41:17Like these, these two Kincaid catches down the field were wide receiver type stuff.
41:21It was pretty good. I really wanted to talk to you about the Texans though, because I mean, that's a lot of
41:28offense and I thought CJ Stroud played pretty well.
41:31I don't really blame them for stalling out at the end there.
41:35What's he supposed to do? He got pressure like right away.
41:39I, you know, I've, I'll just say I can't find a ton to love among the receiving core other than Nico Collins,
41:46but does, does this performance make you remember his rookie year?
41:50Did it make you feel like, okay, maybe, maybe we don't have to like call CJ Stroud like an unworkable player who suppresses his environment?
41:58So I'm going to come at this with the kind of the opposite take and I was, it's kind of dulled my happiness on him.
42:06And I, and I was a CJ Stroud truther first year.
42:09The second season was disappointing and I was like, okay, I'm, I'm, I'll, I'll lay it out.
42:15There was a couple throws here that really bothered me.
42:18There was a second and two throw with 45 seconds remaining.
42:22He had a clean pocket drop deep. He ran forward off balance and threw it high to Hutchinson.
42:27And this would have been a massive, like 30 yard throw that would have been an awesome play in the fourth.
42:34Like they, they did convert on the next play with that draw.
42:38I think it was to Monty. But his footwork is just holistically.
42:42It's still bad. He's just way too inaccurate on these off throw on these like off platform throws and he does it himself.
42:49And, and the reason why I bring this up is that that final sack that fumble that was a hundred percent on him.
42:57If you watch it, he starts on the 18 and his drop takes him all the way back to the 29 yard line.
43:04That's an 11 yard drop off of a shotgun snap.
43:08You do not ever go back 11 yards on a shotgun snap because basically that allows the defensive ends to, to peel
43:15around the corner and gives them a better pass rush pursuit angle.
43:19And so once he stepped back 11 yards, they have an optimum angle and you have to get up.
43:25Like your, your job number one, if you ever step back to 11 yards deep is you have to run forward and step up and use that pocket.
43:34Instead, he stood there and he got, and he gets hit.
43:37And so what bothers me is that this is a rookie mistake.
43:41Like this isn't just, oh, like, oh, he got sacked and he fumbled it, came over, you know, Bill's defense wins.
43:48It was, he went back 11 yards when you should at most go back 10 yards.
43:53And yes, that one yard actually does make a difference.
43:56And you should immediately even step up at 10 yards deep to get into that cleaner pocket up front.
44:03And he did neither of those things. And so, while I thought he looked all right throughout the game, hitting some good
44:10quick throws, um, throughout the game, those misses with bad footwork and just that pocket presence where it just not understanding these basic things, it just bothers me.
44:19And I, I hope that I'm wrong that he fixes it and that he keeps working on it.
44:25But man, this is like, you're what year three and we're still doing this.
44:29Like, what are we doing? I think it's year four.
44:32You're four. It's even worse. It is even worse.
44:35I'll be 33% worse. Right. I'll reconsider him a little bit.
44:39Um, I, I thought, okay, maybe you're right. I need to go back and watch that play.
44:44It's a third and 18. He has to, I kind of think he has to step back because, um, like what, you
44:51know, what are you going to do? Uh, you know, the, the sack that got them in trouble, they're on the nine yard line.
44:59I can't blame that sack on him. Uh, he, you know, that's the one that got them way, way behind the sticks with whatever, 25 seconds to go.
45:08And so if you want to, if you want to tell me the fumble, the last one was his fault.
45:15I'll, I'll reconsider it. Um, you know, I thought he kind of single handedly was the one who made that drive at the end.
45:22The, the reason that they were close. I'll just say like, if, if being concerned about Nico Collins was being concerned about
45:30CJ Stroud, I think I saw enough to be like, Ooh, maybe I can reconsider it a little bit more.
45:36And he went toe to toe with Josh Allen and made a, I think more than just a bunch of short throws.
45:43I think that's actually sort of not charitable, but I'll let you have the final word on him.
45:49Yeah. And, and I agree with you. I, I think Nico will be fine.
45:54I don't trust anybody else in that offense. Like me, maybe if you're desperate, extremely desperate for a tight end play in
46:01Dalton Schultz, just cause he gets targets. But they use four of them.
46:05I mean, they use, Cade Stover's making catches that the rookie guy from Michigan's making catches.
46:10I think you're probably out. Yeah. There's not. I mean, we wanted Jalen Noel to be a thing and he barely played until the end.
46:18His box score is going to look better than he was.
46:22Hutchinson was the second receiver. Kayshawn Booty was the third receiver.
46:25So yeah, agreed. It's not, not going to be a font of a lot of obvious value.
46:31It's too bad Jaden Higgins got hurt. You mentioned Dave Montgomery.
46:34We'll quickly just, the snaps were 37, 36 over Woody Marks, but it was 23 touches for Montgomery, 10 for Marks.
46:41And of course, Montgomery looks like the goal linebacker, which is what you'd expect.
46:46If they're in hurry up though, at the end there, Marks was in, but normally it's going to be Montgomery.
46:52Montgomery, I thought, I thought mostly Montgomery kind of looked a little juiceless.
46:56Although, um, there was a moment where he cut off two feet and it was an okay move.
47:02Uh, if anything, I don't know. It's, it's fine.
47:05He scored touchdowns, so you'll take it. But I almost thought like, maybe I would sell.
47:10Yeah, I, I liked, the one thing that keeps me from purely going out and trying to sell high on him is, is the, is the general usage.
47:19The two to one rushing attempts ratio that we talked about.
47:23Uh, he was involved in the passing game. He gets the goal line work.
47:27Um, he's kind of the clear first and second down running back and he gets those, he gets those occasional check downs too.
47:35Um, that 18 yard touchdown was, it's called one back power.
47:38Um, the right guard pulls, he kicks out the linebacker and then he kind of does a nice good read.
47:45Uh, jukes to kind of cut through and opens and it was, it was well blocked.
47:50So I'm, I'll give more credit to the offensive line than, than, uh, than Monty.
47:55Uh, I, I agree that I think, I think of the two, Woody Marks has more overall juice, but I think the Texans trust Monty more.
48:03That's going to make him more consistent in terms of fantasy, at least, at least for this so far, let's, we'll say
48:10for this year or just so far. A hundred percent.
48:14I'm not, I'm ranking Montgomery way ahead of Marks and I always was.
48:18I'm just saying, I'm not sure he's this good.
48:21Like this is a huge point output. I, if someone devalue him as an RB one, I might do it.
48:27All right. Uh, not only do the Vikings beat the Packers, they kill them in a game where they're losing by 12
48:34points with five minutes to go in the third quarter.
48:38I wonder if Green Bay fans are reminded by, of anything, uh, and why this guy is still their head coach.
48:44We could first start talk about whether Kyler Murray, uh, being out.
48:48I assume he's going to miss games because of his concussion.
48:52Like is Carson Wentz really going, like going to save this offense despite the fact they put up 39 points on the scoreboard.
48:59Great for Jefferson to make that bomb catch before halftime, but they look so dead in this game for so long and credit to Wentz, I guess.
49:08I do not take this bait though. You? No, not at all.
49:12It was a lot of it was the Vikings defense giving Wentz in the offense better field position and stops.
49:18Um, like to Wentz's credit, he did make a couple good throws, but yeah, I, it's, you look at, you look at the box score, see three touchdowns.
49:28You're like, all right, he had a good game, but then you actually watch the game and you're like, uh, maybe, maybe
49:35he didn't look as good as, as what that looked like.
49:38Um, but I, I agree with you. Um, Packers, my God, I, you know, how is, how are we not thinking this might be a Matt LaFleur problem?
49:47Um, I, that, do you like the halftime interview he gave?
49:51Was it Trafsey Wolfson? I think he was like, thank God I got that guy that stood number 10 over there who could handle it all.
49:59And then immediately he did not handle it all.
50:02Christian Watson built the lead. Jordan Love looked great in the first half.
50:06And then it just, I mean, we, we don't want to be believing in Matthew Golden.
50:12That was all in like hope, hopeless comeback mode at the end in the box score.
50:17Tucker Craft played a lot, but not all. And he, he definitely rotated with someone with John O.
50:23Smith. Um, I don't know. I guess I'll, you know, the thing I really wanted to ask you about was how you
50:30thought Marshawn Lloyd looked, but you can kind of just take the Packer conversation wherever you want to go.
50:36Yeah, I'll, I'll go both ways. Um, so Jordan Love, man, what a tale.
50:40It was like literally the definition of a tale of two halves.
50:44Um, and, and a lot of that I noticed was the first half he wasn't pressured that much because the Vikings didn't, weren't as aggressive with their blitzes.
50:53In the fourth quarter, they literally sent everyone on every single play.
50:57Like I was like blitz, blitz, blitz, counting them off in my spreadsheet.
51:01I was like blitz, another blitz. And it was, it was like five guys, six guys.
51:07Oh my God, seven guys. And it was like, they, they went all out just to pressure him and the, the, the
51:14Packers did not respond and change up their offense to having more short routes, more, more of these quick hitters until it
51:21was already too late until Love gets hit like three times in a row.
51:25Um, it was just, they were just blitzed so relentlessly and Love just couldn't do anything with it.
51:31And I mean, by the end he kind of looked broken and I just, I just, I just feel like they need
51:38to go back to the drawing board on that one.
51:42Cause other teams are going to copy that formula.
51:44Um, to talk about Lloyd. Yeah. Two to one carry ratio with between him and Chris Brooks, but I thought Chris Brooks looked better.
51:52Um, at least in terms, in terms of how he ran Chris Brooks, Chris Brooks is definitely a better zone, uh, zone blocking scheme runner.
52:00I thought Lloyd was better on those gap runs, like the, like the power and the, the duo type runs, um, where,
52:07where basically all he had to do was see the defender cut off of him and make that one move and kind
52:15of, kind of bust out at like a 90 degree angle and go.
52:19What, what bothered me about Lloyd's running game was he did this kind of, he ran way past his mark, probably too
52:26much like adrenaline, just pumped because he's just back in the game for once.
52:30And he overruns his mark. He stutters that has to turn his full body 90 degrees from looking at, uh, the sideline back to the line of scrimmage.
52:39And you should never, never go 90 degrees in terms of that, that far.
52:44Like it should be like 75 or 60, you know, just to have the right angle in order to make that cut.
52:51But because you're doing this old 90 degree stutter step kind of turn and negates all your motion, all your momentum, and
52:58he just gets hit in the backfield. And that's kind of like a lot of like, you just can't build up that, that movement.
53:06It's, it's, he's more of a, let's get him going a little bit first, have him do a lateral cut, which is
53:13what he's good at and just have him go.
53:16Um, and, and these zone runs just, he just did not run them properly to emphasize that.
53:22That's a great technical breakdown of what I thought, which is he looked slow.
53:26You know, I just thought we were told Marshawn Lloyd has looked electric in training camp.
53:31There was almost nothing that I saw that looked electric.
53:34It just looked like another Packer backup running back.
53:37I, and, and you're probably right why. There's a technique problem there who athletically, he may be more impressive than, than he
53:45looked in that game, but he didn't, to my mind, didn't look very impressive athletically.
53:49You? Yeah. I, I thought he had like maybe one run where I was like, okay, there he is.
53:56And then the rest of the runs were that stutter, awkward movement drill where he just, he just, you can't, you can't
54:03take multiple stutters, like stutter steps to, to get going, especially in the backfield.
54:07You just can't. It's, it's, it's funny. I, I was watching that game live and you had the Kyler Murray before he got, you got hurt.
54:16You, you had him throw up a hopeless, you get, get, get rushed, throw one straight up in the air to get intercepted.
54:23First pass is a Viking and then turn it around.
54:26Green Bay now has the ball. Chris Brooks starts and gets 15 yards on his first carry.
54:32And I'm like, okay, cool. So everything that was supposed to change here and we, we were able to predict what was going to happen.
54:40Certainly did not happen in that game. All right.
54:43And then, um, commanders and Eagles and, you know, the theme of week one is often, uh, you know, environments that change
54:50and, and coping with the idea that from year to year things change a lot.
54:55I don't know. I, I look at the Eagles and they win the game.
54:59Um, and Jalen Hurts pulled three touchdowns. Okay. I think some of that was a little random, but the, the first down
55:06scramble at third and 16, that essentially won the game.
55:10Great play by him. But I'll just ask you, did you like so much pixel dust was spread on how, oh boy,
55:17the Eagles have really changed up their system. Did you see a lot of change in the Philly results here?
55:23Yeah. I, I feel like they had, I feel like there was a pretty stark difference between the commanders offense, which was
55:30basically them getting, uh, like great defense and them being just inconsistent, hitting these short passes versus the Eagles offense, which is
55:37they had a few big plays, but then they also had so many blown up plays in the backfield that it was
55:45like you, it was so like, it was either a blown up play or like a 15 yard play.
55:51It was like, it was nothing in the middle, especially, or like, uh, with Barkley running the ball, you know, getting, you
55:58know, something like seven yards a clip in terms of the offensive scheme.
56:02What I saw was a lot of horizontal stuff.
56:05I saw a lot of stretch zone with Barkley.
56:08I saw a lot of screens to the outside with like, uh, with Makai lemon.
56:13I saw some dump offs over there. And I think their idea is more of the classic Shanahan move of trying to
56:20set up these horizontal to get play action deep.
56:23Um, but then so many of these horizontal plays just kept getting blown up that they weren't fearing that deep ball.
56:30So that really, that really didn't really come alive unless you look at, you know, Mike Sanders still just getting actually torched
56:37over and over again, which was gross. Um, yeah, I, I, I don't, I don't know.
56:42Spoken as a commanders fan. Yeah. I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't know if I'm ready to like, it, it didn't look good.
56:50It didn't look, it, it, it looks like they just have a lot of kinks to work and Eagles fans.
56:56So I'm, I'm hoping for their sake that they can stop these blow up plays.
57:01Cause that was just awful. Awful. And I will just go ahead and say for, I didn't see much change.
57:08They tried plenty outside zone last year too. I, I think at some point the offensive line has just really fallen off.
57:15It's just getting those, those heyday years that offensive line was awesome and everybody knew it was awesome.
57:21And you could name those offensive linemen and maybe they've all just gotten old, but they got totally blown up.
57:27And it's very obvious that Jalen Hertz just doesn't have any ability to throw between the numbers.
57:33It just doesn't, it doesn't happen. Yeah. I, I would agree with you.
57:37I think they had a couple good strikes to, to like Dallas Goddard on like, like a seam throw, like that touchdown.
57:44But yeah, I'm to your point. I, I agree.
57:47Yeah. Yeah. That's fair. Although again, there's three guys there.
57:50Could somebody please tackle him? That would be really wonderful.
57:53I don't care who wins the game, but it just does feel like Dallas Goddard is going to torture us with doing nothing and then scoring touchdowns again.
58:02So your commanders, we're going to hear a lot about Jaden Daniels' pressure rate, and it's probably fair.
58:08We know like the one thing everybody knew about the Washington offensive line is, you know, they lost the left tackle and it's a mess and whatever.
58:17I got to tell you, Jaden Daniels create a lot of that pressure himself, and he's going to do that because of
58:24the nature of being a guy who holds the ball and scrambles.
58:28But I, if you put truth serum in Washington's new offensive coaching staff, I think they're going to wish he would throw the ball faster.
58:36Yeah. So I think there's two parts there, right?
58:39What I noticed, and if I was looking at the stats this morning, he was under pressure of 40% of his snaps.
58:46It's hard to say what was actually caused by him, what was actually caused by good defensive coverage that led the pressures?
58:53Because it seemed like for a lot of the game, the Eagles just kind of contained him in the pocket.
59:00Jaden Daniels then had to escape to try to create something because none of his wide receivers were open.
59:06And this has been a big theme of all of last year where wide receivers are garbage outside of Terry McLaurin.
59:13At least now you have Terry McLaurin distracting people so Diggs could maybe get open.
59:18And then there's nobody else. And then you have basically an offensive line that's just not good.
59:23I'll just say they're bad. They're just bad. And so you get this situation where you have a lot of contain.
59:30Jaden Daniels tries to do something with his legs.
59:33There's no one there so he throws the ball away.
59:36And so now his completion percentage is like 52% because he's throwing the ball away 12 times.
59:42And to your point, I do think that some of the pressure is probably on him.
59:47But man, I watched a lot of those snaps and there was just nobody open over and over.
59:53There's nobody down the field that could break away.
59:55And I think it's just the Eagles defense is just good.
59:59It's good. And you know, McLaurin has Quinion Mitchell on him in it.
60:03It's a bad day for Terry McLaurin for sure.
60:06He gets his first catch with like four minutes left in the game.
60:10It just felt to me like the commander said, okay, you're not allowed to throw it Quinion Mitchell to Daniels.
60:17They just said, nope, go somewhere else. And of course, Devon Diggity winds up scoring a touchdown.
60:22Did you like the personal foul? Haven't we learned that you're not supposed to jump into the, I mean, does he not know that?
60:30Yeah. Yeah. Or the goalpost. Yeah. Yeah. He's old enough.
60:33He should know. It's crazy. At one point, like late third quarter, Daniels was eight for 21 for 60 yards.
60:40Like that is not a functional offense. We'll end it with their backfield.
60:44Ja'Cory Krosky Merritt crowd surfed to a touchdown that he'd gotten stuffed on.
60:48It was a nice play to stay alive, but otherwise not awesome and fumbled on the final drive, but the commanders recovered it.
60:56I'm sure you noticed after that point, the rookie Katron Allen seemed like maybe he'd taken over.
61:01Yeah, it was I that that's what makes me worried about about JCM is that he's got juice.
61:07He's got more juice than the other running backs.
61:10I don't I don't understand Rashad White on the team at all, to be honest on that one.
61:16But JCM has more juice, but I think Katron Allen is just he's probably just a better goal line and short yardage running back.
61:24I just I think it's I think we're going to see a bigger split between the two of them over time.
61:30I mean, right now it looks like JCM had 16 rushes to Rashad's Rashad White's seven, which again, he shouldn't get seven and Katron Allen's four.
61:39But I think that's going to start flipping world maybe be like JCM will be you know, 12 carries and Katron maybe eight, you know, something like that.
61:48It's more reasonable, especially if JCM is going to fumble.
61:51Yeah, because I felt like that was a benching.
61:54It was late in the game, so we never really got to tell, but I don't think he played again after the after he fumbled.
62:02He didn't lose the fumble, but it wasn't good.
62:05That's not what you want. I mean, I don't think anybody's out here clamoring and saying for fantasy, I must no matter what start a commander's running back.
62:14Like that is not where we are after that performance at all.
62:18All right. Well, Sam, this was awesome. Thank you for your opinions here and setting me straight on CJ Stroud.
62:24I will not be as excited as I thought I was, but you make good points.
62:30It's a good point. You can not really follow Sam anymore because he's out.
62:34As soon as we hang up, he's going to work.
62:37He's going to go do a job, but we love you coming on man.
62:42You're fantastic at this anytime you want to be on.
62:45You know, I'm going to ask you more the rest of the season.
