0:16get us ready because we made it it's the last weekday before a long weekend here in the US.
0:23And it's been five weeks of five shows per week 25 big shows from August 3rd until now several of those done
0:31from cities where I don't live putting together what we learned over the summer from all the almanac stuff the film watching
0:38and all that and then also what we talked about wanting to pay attention to on those shows back in July and now we're here.
0:47It's the moment oh baby the biggest draft weekend of the year has arrived and hopefully you're feeling great about it.
0:54We'll talk about that in just a moment. Let's start with this.

2:01my kingly congles happens every year I That was so good uh, this show is very stupid that that happened because that's
2:08too much talent for the show uh the subject of fantasy football also very stupid but as I like to say and
2:16as I hope it becomes even easier to remember for you this weekend we're talking about football, but we're not actually talking
2:23about football we're getting to see people we might not otherwise get to see and we get to rag on them and
2:31have them rag on us and we get to hug them and have them hug us and just have a great time
2:38with them and football does that for us fantasy does that for us which is why it is very stupid but it's
2:46also not that stupid at all I can tell you in preparation for your big weekend the 2026 Harris football player profile
2:54almanac second edition is out it's out of my hot little hands you should have already received an email this morning Friday
3:01morning indicating that you can download the new PDF when you get that link please download the PDF don't just read it
3:09on your phone download it there's a download limit this weekend I may not be that close to email I'm not probably
3:16going to do a lot of customer service email this weekend and if you email me saying oh no my draft is
3:24in 10 minutes and it says I've exceeded my download totals don't do that save it locally that is my message to
3:31you and as you scroll through the update you'll see lots of red bold text and crossed out red text you should
3:39be able to go through it and look at those changes in like an hour because visually it's very obvious as you're
3:46scrolling see what changes were made the changes are more for the running backs and the wide receivers quarterback stuff doesn't change
3:54that much over the course of August some tight end stuff changed too but a lot of changes for running back and
4:02wide receiver lots of freshly written new profiles changed profiles the ranks like the list order has changed there's a little red
4:09star next to anybody whose rank went up or down and then all the ranks at the back of the book also
4:17updated including dynasty and super flex so you can draft with the latest and greatest I am resolved I am that's it
4:24if there's a big news event that happens between now and when I finish the show I'm not I'm doing it I'm
4:32not doing it I've done in the past I'm such a control freak you're on your own I'm done this is a
4:39very long week of revising I'm very proud of how well it turned out but I'm not you know you're on your
4:47own you'll be able to figure it out I will update and maintain the ranks at harishopeball.com but no more PDF rewriting
4:55it's done right up into the minute where you find a typo no it's done don't tell me you found a typo
5:02we'll survive I do hope you enjoy it very much okay and now to talk about your draft and your mentality going
5:10into your draft coming out of your draft I give this speech or some version of it every year but I think
5:17it's worth revisiting because a year is a long time and we forget and also we have new listeners so you should
5:25be nervous going into your draft of course should you feel apprehensive should you worry that you know you're oh I'm gonna
5:32make a big mistake yes sure that's part of the fun I think being a little nervous is part of something that's
5:40fun being a little bit on edge because it matters to you absolutely be a little jittery that's fine should you be
5:47in full freak out mode and be genuinely legitimately stressed to the point where you can't eat or sleep and you can't
5:55enjoy being with your friends in person or on zoom of course you should not and that sounds obvious but maybe I
6:03can help I think maybe the fundamental problem with the way the NFL gets covered even among people who don't do puff
6:10pieces or do pieces that carry water for billionaires or be mouthpieces for agents I think the fundamental problem is that it
6:18gets treated like there's a right answer and that is certainly true of fantasy the certainty with which most of these folks
6:25talk and the fact that if you don't perceive it a certain way you're just wrong it's absolutely incorrect this is what
6:33I mean by the mind palace this is what the song we just listened to meant by the mind palace this is
6:40true for all sports because predicting sports is hard and if it wasn't we'd all live in bigger houses than we do
6:48but it's true in the NFL above all there is no perfect draft for fantasy because we don't know the answers to
6:55the test beforehand and the NFL more than basketball baseball hockey soccer you name it this league is so different from season
7:03to season and somehow the people who cover it and the people who watch it can't remember how their worlds got rocked
7:11exactly one year ago simply cannot keep it in their brains we are wrong every year about which teams are good and
7:18which teams are going to get hurt and which teams are going to be lucky and who's not and so your draft
7:26is simply an educated guess and while again good to feel a little nervous for something that's important to you even if
7:33it is a little silly we just shouldn't allow ourselves to get paralyzed like this is a final exam in a high
7:41school calculus class because there's no predetermined right answer there's no answer key you'll do the best with the information you have
7:48and then the very best part the draft is only the beginning we've really reached the point where we're only looking backward
7:56you know we're only making draft strategy based on what happened in previous years and those years are dead they are gone
8:04the league isn't going to look like those years this year we're only going to start to actually get smart about what
8:11the NFL is in 2026 once the games begin next week and we'll all be here on the little podcasts that could
8:19trying to do that computation together and then make our teams a little bit better bit by bit by watching the games
8:26and talking about what we see not overreacting to dumb stats we're going to do waivers we're going to make trades we'll
8:34bench we'll start and that's the second part and probably the more important part of how we make our fantasy teams good
8:41so that is my message for the weekend a little bit of anxiety of course totally good means you care but there
8:49is no answer key there is no right answer those stupid idiotic foolish draft grades you get after a draft holy cow
8:56they're literally judging how close you adhered to the default ranks on the platform you just drafted on and those ranks suck
9:04who wants to adhere to those ranks I did an auction last night and right after two separate people sent around chat
9:12GPT and clawed assessments of the results it's idiotic it's the same thing let me look up some ranks that suck and
9:19compare your team to those ranks that utterly utterly utterly suck so that is where we can be a little bit zen
9:27about it make it matter because meaning is where you make it but don't get too crazy and we'll all meet back

12:51no need to do a million little details on him we're just sitting back and being happy to draft him for me
12:58that is Zay Flowers number one flag player I did that auction I mentioned last night I got him I did a
13:06draft earlier in the day on Thursday I got him I did a draft on Sunday I got him I have not
13:13yet done the calculation to proclaim which players I have on the largest majority of my teams but I have to believe
13:21that Zay Flowers will be on that list which we will do probably on Tuesday I just don't have that much stress
13:29about him it's funny so I did Dave Kluge's show on Football Guys on Tuesday I think it was Tuesday it's a
13:36fun show and Dave and I gave bold predictions you can listen to that in podcast form you can also see it
13:44on YouTube and as you might expect one of my bold predictions was Zay Flowers and I said you know he's going
13:51to outperform his draft rank by a round he's going to easily finish inside the top 10 and never read the comments
13:59on YouTube obviously unless it's a Harris football video but anywhere else out in the wild especially comments that are made by
14:06somebody else's audience because let's face it non-Yacht Possum fantasy football audiences are kind of a nightmare because their brains are still
14:14marinating in crutch arguments but there was a comment in there was like this idiot real bold Flowers finished number 8 last
14:22year and you're calling him top 10 loser sir, he's going wide receiver 17 right now ah, never mind anyway, love drafting
14:29Flowers Before I announce the second award you seem to be implying that you may have already made plans for your audio
14:37book that would be disappointing anyway, let's give out the huggy for the Javante Williams bounce back award Yeah, this time last
14:44year we called a bounce back award for Javante Williams obviously a player we've liked around here for a while that finally
14:52paid off so now this year we'll name the award after Javante Williams so who's next?
14:57what player bounces back from a poor 2025 and earns the Javante Williams bounce back award in 2026?
15:03I'll say Bucky Irving another flag player just another reminder that cousin Josh and I are on opposite sides absolutely on the
15:11sprinter soldier I am interested to know whether Irving comes up later in the show as a trash bag and if I
15:19have to bite my tongue we'll see in the baggies I have drafted Irving it feels like he's been trending a little
15:26bit upward but still like you can definitely do late fourth round I feel like most of the time when I've got
15:34him it was more in the fifth because I don't know people are terrified of Kenneth Gainwell and maybe they'll turn out
15:41to be right but I'm not scared Bucky Irving bounces back and makes cousin Josh look even more silly than he already
15:49is the third huggy is all about anticipation just like I'm anticipating reading Chris's wonderful prose when I record the audio book
15:56of pound foolish this huggy is for the player you're most excited to see play in week one yeah about that robot
16:04E I wish we'd talked about it sooner audio book is already kind of been arrangements are worked out I'm very sorry
16:11about that the player I'm most excited to see play in week one I'm going to say Jeremiah Love assuming he does
16:19play in week one it is the grasshopper Jeremiah Love will call him the grasshopper because they only live for about a
16:27year they only live as adults for about two to three months and so a generation comes along every single year just
16:34like with the NFL draft of course as of my recording this we're not even sure Jeremiah Love plays in week one
16:42because of his high ankle sprain but if he does I am certainly interested in seeing the grasshopper do his thing Oh
16:49you already made arrangements for the audio book of pound foolish oh well then this next award is very appropriate because it's
16:57the award for the player who makes you want to tear your hair out well I don't want to get technical on
17:04you Eve but I don't I don't think you actually have hair and I also don't think your program to feel frustration
17:12but anyway we humans certainly feel frustration last year I gave this award to Garrett Wilson what a frustrating player that he's
17:20been probably not because of his own self more about each year the Jets keep putting together a team that doesn't do
17:27him justice and this year I'm giving the award to Garrett Wilson I definitely can understand what could go right I think
17:35it's fair to say that Wilson in a better situation would be much better he's extremely talented and we don't want to
17:42prejudge the situations too harshly in a new season because how many times am I going to say it mind palaces but
17:50it is four years running he got hurt last year Garrett Wilson did I haven't wound up with him on teams but
17:57I also don't think the ADP is wrong he's certainly discounted from where he's been in previous years I'm not mad at
18:05somebody who does get just a little more aggressive than I do on Wilson but he's just been so frustrating for years
18:12so the tear your hair out award again goes to Garrett Wilson I hear you I'm surely not programmed to feel frustration
18:20so it's all good I hope people enjoy the pound foolish audio book is it already recorded?

18:30no don't tell me just like this next huggy award is for the player you just don't want to talk about anymore
18:38well the good news Eve is that no robot Talia did not record the audio book of pound foolish the bad news
18:45and you might want to sit down for this one even though I'm fairly sure that you don't have a butt or
18:53a chair but the bad news it was me I recorded the audio book of pound foolish and yet that does not
19:00stop like five people every day emailing me saying hey is there an audio book?
19:05yes there is an audio book I recorded it you can even get a sample chapter of it in this very podcast

19:16yes I have mentioned we didn't want to run with Amazon this week because those sales don't help us in the bestseller

19:39to talk about that anymore and a player I just don't want to talk about kind of Brock Bowers to be honest
19:47I think it's because I've been going on all these shows on Wednesday I just did Matt Harmon's show with Yahoo that
19:54was a good one 90 minutes I'm on that one it's a cram session where Matt and I each gave like one
20:02cram session thought for each of the 32 teams and at some point it seems like no matter where I am eventually
20:09the conversation converts to well you know the Raiders don't have any wide receivers Brock Bowers is actually the big pass catcher
20:17there you don't say I've never he's really good yes that's true and I don't even think Matt said that but it's
20:24certainly been said to me several times this week like you know he comes up with that thing where I want to
20:32say value-based drafting that thing where I want to say if you're advocating for him in the second round he has to
20:40do a truly historic season to be worth a second round pick and he just otherwise won't out distance the replacement level
20:47and you know the value of replacement and you know like but it's hard to have that conversation with somebody who spent
20:55six months deciding that Brock Bowers is due for 150 catch season or whatever you know so yeah I kind of had
21:02have had to bite my tongue or like give some shorter version of that answer and I'm to the point now with
21:10Bowers that and probably McBride too although it comes up with Bowers more I think the people from my experience who are
21:17really into a tight end in the second round are actually more about Bowers than McBride which is surprising to me but
21:25yes I am to the point now where I don't necessarily need to talk about him right now I know it was
21:32you, Chris you broke my heart you broke my heart pretty good, right?
21:37quoting a line from The Godfather? can you see the kind of dramatic line reading ability you missed out on for the audiobook?

22:23and I guess for this answer I'm giving some combination thereof I'm trying not to do another flag player since I already
22:30gave you two flag players earlier so let's go a little bit off the board but I do take him here and
22:38there I'll say Derrick Henry Derrick Henry ancient ancient Derrick Henry I can't imagine what it's going to be like when I'm
22:45in my early 30s it just feels so old I'll say he does it again he bucks the trend makes it through
22:53the year doesn't slip up and justifies let's face it you know mid-second round a lot of the time any time there's
23:00any PPR involved there's no chance he goes even at the turn he goes 16, 17 I've seen him go 20 if
23:08there's any PPR involved I have taken him there and I'll just I'll put in my vote right now it's obviously a
23:16big change from what I used to say about Derrick Henry but I'll predict the New York City tap water keeps tasting

28:51you know, this person when we started the fantasy season was kind of in that I don't know gives me indigestion thing
28:59stress farts I was kind of back and forth but I'm going full trash bag you got Trevion Henderson man I think
29:06I'm officially out I'm five and a half days removed from selecting Ramondre Stevenson at 61 overall at that 5-6 turn you
29:14know, my buddy Sean dude embarrassed himself and took Trevion two picks later and had the audacity to tell me that I
29:21got the wrong patriot but I've come to expect this Chris from these people who are fans you know, of the Knicks
29:29this is the same guy telling me Mitch Robinson is better than Alperin Sangoon but anyway so by ADP Henderson is still
29:36somehow going five to ten picks higher than Stevenson it baffles me we've discussed this about a month ago 29% of yeah,
29:4429% of his points came in those two weeks when Stevenson was out when both players are healthy I mean the breakdown
29:51between the touches are not the same and I know what the stats look like but you can't predict when Henderson has
29:59these weeks it's just so difficult I take a look at those those three playoff wins too Henderson 24 carries for 57
30:07yards Ramondre Stevenson 51 carries 194 yards the catches are not even close either 86 yards to 7 yards I mean I
30:14know you love that Denver game Chris 25 touches Henderson not even on the field I just look at this dude like
30:22this team wants to get back to the Super Bowl they're opening it up next week six days from now they're playing
30:29a monster team the defending champs you're telling me they're gonna put a guy in the field who hasn't even practiced has
30:37pass blocking issues versus that Seattle team I think we're gonna get a really nice dose of what that backfield is gonna
30:44look like and it's gonna be pretty embarrassing for the Henderson owners so he's my number one for the trash bag this
30:52year I think the only way that this returns value man is if Ramondre Stevenson goes down trash bag of the year
30:59Trevion Henderson so there have been two players that you've talked me down on this year and it happens every year we
31:07talk every week during August and you make good points and I listen I try to be somewhat flexible and you talk
31:15me down on Henderson and I tried to defend him during that when we talked that list about a month ago and
31:22you kind of talked circles around me a little bit and then also you scared me off a a few a few
31:30points of my A-chan rank I was ahead on A-chan without knowing it because I wasn't looking at ADP at that point

32:30now to Taylor he had the perfect ride in 2025 right typically not someone who plays did not get hurt three previous
32:38seasons he's averaging what 11-12 games a year he got the perfect ride last year I mean we joked around early on
32:45in the season we're like when is this Daniel Jones thing gonna end and of course we know what it ended when
32:53he got this massive injury and after that Taylor was fine I think he was a low RB2 at that time and
33:00it's simple it just reminds me very much of what that perfect Saquon ride was last year and I think if we
33:08would have done this and I said hey man I think Saquon's a stealth trash bag and he ended up as RB13
33:16going number one or number two we would have had the same thing I just think it was a dream ride I
33:23think they have a difficult out of the gates I know we're not gonna predict what teams are but if I told

53:17got teriyaki she's a big fan of teriyaki you get scallions man i like the one chopsticks that you two is that
53:25a is that a video of her feeding you that anyway call me later man so west wilson west as in the
53:32direction yes yep like the direction okay do we people who are yeah yeah i mean i've heard of summer house i've
53:40obviously never watched it um i certainly don't know the people in it do we do we suspect that in the case

58:20up that's what i'm saying you start to look at where burrow lamar may and like even guys like hertz and daniels
58:27could beat him like i was wowed and i started to look at this and i thought about look i know what
58:35he did 2025 there were some guys who were hurt and there were some players who had some down seasons but in
58:422024 first of all he was the qb2 and he only beat burrow by a point he beat mayfield by eight points
58:50and i'm sitting here going man his rushing tds and yards is obscene the last three years they go like 550 and
58:5812 550 and 14 and i'm like you know the previous five seasons before that when he ran in like seven and
59:05eight if he were to go down to 400 450 and run in seven tds and even bumped up his passing yards
59:13wouldn't that put him kind of back to the pack of a lot of some of these other quarterbacks i'm just saying
59:20not to mention that he doesn't have the risk of getting injured the way he treats his body and all of us
59:28love to watch him play but he's left some games before and we've kind of held our breath like huh again we
59:35watched this last year i looked at adp from 2025 lamar was going 24 jayden daniels was going 28 burrow was going
59:4336 and i know we think this guy's indestructible but i can tell you if you were one of the people who
59:50picked those three quarterbacks brutal you don't even need the injury but i just think if he were to finish his qb4
59:58or 5 and you were to pass up a couple of rounds of those league winners i think that are going to
60:06go in that pocket of 18 to 30 i just think the risk is a ton especially this year when you and
60:13i talked about how deep the qbs go again super flex you can kind of talk to me about it but in
60:21standard qb1 leagues we're just picking one i just have a difficult time with it put me down for lvp okay and
60:28i i do know that you know your real lvp would be other names that you've trashed and you were being probably
60:36rice and love and yeah right you you were being a good sport i didn't say i didn't forbid you but i
60:43was like you know it is more fun if you think of other names because people have already heard the speech that
60:51we gave about the players etc so i know i know that alan is like i know you believe what you said
60:58but i know it's not as firmly held conviction as rushy rice or jeremiah or whatever uh but still yeah i mean
61:06you know my feeling about taking a quarterback in the second round i don't care how many touchdowns he runs for i'm
61:14never ever ever gonna advise people do it but you actually said it i i have super flex ranks that are in
61:21the back of the almanac which is finally out the second edition and in super flex he's my one overall is that
61:29bad would you do that no i but i get it when you're talking about 24 quarterbacks being yes and i i
61:36get it i just have a really difficult time like you know you do the whole game where i'm saying would you
61:44rather have in round two this player and in round seven hurts or daniels or we'd rather have josh daniels and that
61:51player you're gonna get in six it's just yeah it's a josh allen i just have a difficult time i think there's
61:59such a like you're picking if you were doing right if you were doing super flex ranks if i made you sit
62:07down right now would alan be your 101 close at worst he'd be the three for me okay yeah i mean it's
62:14fair i don't think it's like indisputable i just was curious uh because i know i mean you basically are like a
62:22two-league man you don't play a ton of leagues you have your you have your two leagues integrity yeah you have integrity
62:29so you don't play super flex uh i do and it's fun and josh allen i would take one but i mean
