Baker Mayfield

NegativeValue13:45

Ryan Heath acknowledges Mayfield's potential as a contrarian play at 5% ownership, noting his high efficiency early in 2024 before injuries. However, Heath expresses concern about the matchup against an improved Cincinnati defense and notes that the likely absence of Jalen McMillan condenses the passing attack, making him a secondary option.

Insight page

Bijan Robinson

NegativeUsage34:26

Bijan Robinson is a fade candidate due to the quarterback change to Cooper Rush, who historically has one of the lowest running back target rates in the NFL. This significantly lowers Robinson's PPR floor in a tough matchup against the Steelers.

Insight page

Bucky Irving

NegativeUsage107:39

Bucky Irving is a defensible play at 5,700 with Sean Tucker doubtful, which clarifies the backfield into a two-way split. While Irving struggled at the goal line last season, the absence of Tucker removes that specific competition, though Kenneth Gainwell could potentially vulture goal-line work.

Insight page

Chase Brown

PositiveUsage108:52

Chase Brown is a preferred play over Bucky Irving due to his elite workload in games started by Joe Burrow, where he averaged 21.7 expected fantasy points. Brown's upside is primarily through the air, as the Buccaneers were a major receiving-back funnel defense last year. He is a strong target for Burrow stacks or as a contrarian expensive running back.

Insight page

Chris Godwin

NegativeValue123:58

Chris Godwin is a strong target at 5,200 with only 7% ownership. He is underrated relative to Jalen McMillan, and his role in the slot allows him to avoid the shadow coverage of DJ Turner, who is expected to shadow McMillan. Godwin was a top-three fantasy wide receiver early in 2024.

Insight page

Christian Watson

PositiveUsage120:02

Christian Watson is a preferred Packers stack partner because he is a highly efficient target earner on a per-route basis. With Matt LaFleur signaling a reduction in the wide receiver rotation, Watson is projected for a near full-time route share, which historically correlates with top-12 wide receiver production.

Insight page

Dallas Goedert

PositiveUsage29:04

Dallas Goedert is an underrated stacking partner for Jalen Hurts. He has been as efficient as Devonta Smith on a per-route basis when AJ Brown is off the field, and the new offense's focus on middle-of-the-field throws, combined with the Commanders' tendency to play two-high safety looks, favors tight end production.

Insight page

Daniel Jones

PositiveValue22:43

Daniel Jones is a viable large-field tournament play at 3% ownership. He led the NFL in passing yards per game through Week 10 last year before his injury, and the market's current negative sentiment is heavily influenced by his recovery from an Achilles injury and general skepticism of his talent.

Insight page

De'Von Achane

NegativeUsage40:55

De'Von Achane is a fade due to the quarterback situation with Malik Willis. Willis's low dropback volume and high sack/scramble rate will severely limit the Dolphins' passing volume, capping Achane's PPR upside.

Insight page
NegativeUsage42:23

Ryan argues that Devon Achane is overrated as a runner and relies too heavily on PPR production, which is capped by the Dolphins' limited pass attempt volume. Even with a 20% target share, the total volume is insufficient to justify his price, leading to a fade recommendation.

Insight page

Derrick Henry

NegativeUsage48:00

Derrick Henry is a game-script-sensitive player who relies on positive game flow. While he offers a high ceiling, his floor is less safe than Gentry's in full PPR formats. He is best played in lineups stacked with the Ravens' defense.

Insight page

Ja'Marr Chase

PositiveProjection113:17

Ja'Marr Chase is the most confident wide receiver play among the high-ownership options, averaging nearly 28 DraftKings points in games with a 50+ over/under. He is a dynamic, slate-breaking talent compared to the more compiler-like profiles of Amon-Ra St. Brown and Chris Olave.

Insight page

Jahmyr Gibbs

PositiveUsage31:09

Jahmyr Gibbs is a 'bulletproof' chalk play at 40% projected ownership. He averaged over 30 DraftKings points in wins last year, and with David Montgomery gone and no established RB2, he is expected to dominate the Lions' backfield.

Insight page
PositiveValue43:21

Chris Wecht ranks Devon Achane as a strong point-per-dollar play, positioning him just behind Jahmyr Gibbs in his projections.

Insight page

Jalen Hurts

PositiveValue23:54

Jalen Hurts is a preferred quarterback option over Lamar Jackson for tournaments due to his high-leverage rushing upside near the goal line. He is in a new offense with play-caller Kellen Moore, and his 6% ownership makes him an attractive portfolio addition.

Insight page

Jameson Williams

PositiveBreakout114:57

Jameson Williams is a top GPP play due to his deep-threat role and a favorable schematic matchup against the Saints, who utilize high rates of cover three and single-high looks. Williams sees a 47% target-per-route-run boost against single-high coverage and is 27% more efficient against cover three.

Insight page

Jared Goff

NegativeProjection5:30

Ryan Heath is neutral on Goff at 10% ownership, noting that while he is a viable play in a potential shootout, the team's offensive approach may shift under new play-caller Drew Petzing. Heath suggests the Lions might lean more on Jameer Gibbs to control the clock rather than maintaining the aggressive, high-scoring pace seen in previous seasons.

Insight page

Jayden Reed

PositiveUsage120:02

Jaden Reed is a preferred Packers stack partner due to his efficiency against the blitz and his team-leading target-per-route-run rate against two-high safety looks. Like Watson, he is expected to benefit from a consolidated wide receiver rotation in the Packers' offense.

Insight page

Jaylen Warren

PositiveValue60:00

Jalen Warren is a highly talented back who consistently ranks near the top of the league in missed tackles forced per touch. Despite his efficiency, he is difficult to trust in small-field lineups due to the team's offensive uncertainty.

Insight page

Joe Burrow

PositiveValue28:34

Ryan Heath argues that 7% projected ownership for Joe Burrow is too low, dismissing the 'slow start' narrative as a myth tied to specific matchups against Myles Garrett. Heath highlights Burrow's elite efficiency against the blitz and notes that Todd Bowles' blitz-heavy defensive scheme is a perfect schematic matchup for him.

Insight page

Jonathan Taylor

PositiveValue36:23

Jonathan Taylor is an intriguing 15% owned option. He is highly game-script sensitive, averaging 31.5 DraftKings points in wins last year with Daniel Jones. While the Colts are underdogs, the uncertainty of Week 1 makes him a high-upside tournament play.

Insight page
NegativeUsage50:31

Jonathan Taylor and Derrick Henry are both highly game-script-sensitive running backs facing each other. Because they are not heavily involved in the passing game, they should not be played in the same DFS lineup as they cannot both benefit from positive game scripts simultaneously.

Insight page

Jordan Love

PositiveBreakout20:17

Ryan Heath identifies Jordan Love as a top contrarian play, noting the Packers' efficiency under Matt LaFleur and the potential for a more pass-heavy approach without Josh Jacobs. Love has averaged 23 DK points in games with 25+ dropbacks against Brian Flores' defense. Heath recommends stacking him with Jaden Reed and Christian Watson.

Insight page

Justin Herbert

PositiveValue3:58

Ryan Heath identifies Herbert as the best play among chalk quarterbacks, citing the return of starting tackles Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater; notes Herbert scored over 25 DraftKings points in every game he played with his starting left tackle last year. The Cardinals defense is a favorable matchup, ranking bottom seven in EPA per play allowed last season.

Insight page

Keaton Mitchell

NegativeUsage52:52

Keaton Mitchell is an efficient, explosive player but has limited snap volume and is currently dealing with a hamstring injury. While he has appeal in large-field GPPs as a gadget player, he is not a reliable every-down back compared to Hampton.

Insight page

Kyler Murray

PositiveValue17:20

Neil highlights Kyler Murray as a superior value play compared to Tyler Shuck, noting his rushing upside and the historical success of quarterbacks under Kevin O'Connell's system, which has consistently produced viable fantasy scores from various signal-callers.

Insight page

Lamar Jackson

PositiveValue22:24

Lamar Jackson is a strong tournament play at 6,800, as the market has forgotten his efficiency due to his injury-plagued season last year. He was the clear QB2 behind Josh Allen in DraftKings points over the previous three years, and he is now in a new, high-powered offense with play-caller Todd Monken.

Insight page

MarShawn Lloyd

PositiveValue106:53

Marshawn Lloyd is a strong value play at 4,800 with only 4% projected ownership. While there are concerns about a split backfield with Caleb Johnson and potential pass-protection issues against the Vikings' blitz-heavy defense, Lloyd was an elite per-touch prospect in college with high yards-after-contact metrics. He is the best cheap running back option on the slate, especially if the Packers lean into the run.

Insight page

Omarion Hampton

PositiveUsage52:13

Omarion Hampton is a top-tier play due to his bell-cow potential and the Chargers' favorable matchup against the Cardinals. He hit a 75% snap share in four games last year, outperforming peers like Gibbs and Cook in that metric, and is built to be an every-down fantasy asset.

Insight page

Quentin Johnston

NegativeValue116:52

Quentin Johnston is a viable play at 4,900, particularly as a double-stack partner with Justin Herbert and Ladd McConkey. While he is a boom-bust player, the Chargers' shift toward heavier personnel and condensed target distribution makes him a solid value, though he is not a preferred one-off play over McConkey.

Insight page

Rashod Bateman

NegativeRole26:21

Rashad Bateman is a long-shot tournament option. Despite the team's draft actions not showing confidence in him, the coaching staff continues to talk him up as the WR2, suggesting he may have a role in the new offense.

Insight page

Rico Dowdle

PositiveRole61:00

Rico Dowdle is the preferred play over Jalen Warren if one is looking for a potential 70% snap-share back. He has previously been installed as an every-down back by Mike McCarthy and remains the most likely candidate to emerge in that role.

Insight page

Travis Etienne

NegativeUsage61:58

Travis Etienne is a fade because he is not the pass-catching threat many perceive him to be. Kellen Moore's offensive scheme historically does not design screens for running backs, which limits Etienne's upside, especially as a seven-point underdog.

Insight page

Zay Flowers

NegativeBreakout25:05

Zay Flowers is the primary stacking partner for Lamar Jackson. While potentially slightly overpriced, he is a breakout candidate who could benefit from positive touchdown regression in a high-powered offense.

0:00What's up, Fantasy Points? I am so happy to be back once again doing Outside The Box for you, where we're going
0:07to be going through looking at the chalk of each position briefly and then finding some plays that are outside the box for DFS GPPs on DraftKings.
0:15A little bit of a new look to the show this year.
0:19Scott Barrett has stepped away, which I know some of you are going to be sad.
0:24I was pretty sad to see Scott go, but also I know Scott Barrett would not have stepped away from this show
0:31if he was not confident that we had a fully capable, brilliant replacement.
0:35We've got Ryan Heath here replacing Scott. Super excited to be doing a show with Ryan.
0:40We've done a few shows together, but Ryan and I have never done consistent shows together.
0:45So very happy to be doing this one with you, Ryan.
0:48Ryan, how is the beginning of the season going for you?
0:52It's going great, Neil. I just want to say to everybody first that I'm honored to be here.
0:57Outside The Box is my favorite DFS show in the industry.
1:01It has been for the last couple of years listening to you and Scott.
1:05So yeah, to be asked to be able to do this with you, to chop it up with one of the best
1:12DFS players that I know is just going to be so much fun.
1:16I'm so excited. I really, yeah, just looking forward to talking through all the contrarian angles, hopefully getting some of your expertise
1:23in terms of how to transfer all of this data, all these stats that I always have into how do we actually build winning DFS lineup.
1:31So I'm really excited about this show and I can't wait to get into it.
1:36And I can't wait to get into the season.
1:39And I'm super excited about when you and I win a million dollars together.
1:43Scott is just going to be so jealous and I can't wait for that more than anything.
1:48It's just us shipping something and making Scott super jealous.
1:51Yeah, no, I'm really excited to be here with Ryan back on the fantasy point channel, but we're going to be starting
1:58with quarterbacks and it's going to be the usual format.
2:01If you don't remember from last year, we're going to start with quarterbacks, then running backs and receivers, tight ends.
2:08We usually skip defenses and then we'll build a couple lineups on draft Kings at the end of the show.
2:14So again, we're just going to start by taking a look at the, the chalk.
2:19And I'm just going to ask Ryan, this is usually kind of a quick portion of the show.
2:24Do you have any particular interest or like yuck for any of these top three quarterbacks?
2:29Justin Herbert projected for 11% ownership, Jared Goff at 10% and Tyler Shuck at 8%.
2:34Any interest or anybody that you're just full fading from that trio?
2:38The most interest I have from those three is probably going to be Justin Herbert.
2:42He's a guy I was really big on just in my seasonal content, but the big thing for him is he gets
2:49both of his tackles back, Joe Walt and Rashawn Slater.
2:52Last year, Rashawn Slater missed the entire season. Joe Walt only played five games and Herbert went over 25 draft Kings points
2:59in every single one of them that he had.
3:02He had his starting left tackle. So to me, this is even with the ownership, I'm just kind of fine eating it
3:09with Herbert because I think the upside is really good.
3:12This Cardinals defense is still nothing to be afraid of.
3:15They were bottom seven by EPA per play allowed.
3:18Basically every defensive stat last year, they retained the same defensive coordinator.
3:22I just don't see why we would expect different results.
3:25So yeah, out of all the chalky guys, Herbert is where I have the most interest.
3:30Goff is fair enough. Jared Goff at home in a potential shootout environment is never like a bad play.
3:36I just think there are some other guys that maybe we'll get to that I think have similar upside at very likely less ownership.
3:43I worry a little bit about this game in terms of a lot of Jared Goff's kind of massive scores over the
3:50past few years have been in these games where the Lions just get up and then they never take their foot off the gas offensively.
3:58They just say, okay, we're going to blow this team out and not stop.
4:02The Saints last year allowed the fewest DraftKings fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks in the second half of games because
4:09teams would take their foot off the gas. And with Drew Petsing in town now as the play caller, it's not Dan
4:16Campbell like it was for the second half of last season.
4:19I do wonder if the approach is a little bit different.
4:23Petsing when he's had healthy running backs has been a little bit more on the conservative end, on the run heavier end.
4:30And you can't really ask for a better running back than Jameer Gibbs to salt the game away with.
4:36So yeah, that's kind of where I get a little bit iffy on Goff.
4:40And yeah, Shuck is whatever, but anything else you want to say on those, I'll throw it back to you.
4:46Yeah, I think I kind of see it the same way as you like Tyler Shuck to me is just like, why is Tyler Shuck chalk?
4:54Like I get that he's maybe a little bit cheaper than people think he should be.
4:59And that's a fun game environment. Nice matchup with Detroit, not like a great defense this year.
5:05But yeah, Tyler Shuck just doesn't make any sense to me as the chalk.
5:09Justin Herbert though. Yeah, I think he's a great play.
5:12And I mean, 11% where we're talking about chalk, but like it's 11%.
5:16He's not, he's not a 25% owned player. You can still get plenty different throughout the rest of your lineup.
5:23And especially because with Justin Herbert, I feel like there's a lot of different ways that you can stack him up, which
5:29helps a lot when you are playing a chalky quarterback.
5:33I mean, if you just play Justin Herbert with Ladd McConkie, maybe that lineup is going to be kind of chalky.
5:39But if you play Justin Herbert with, you know, Charlie Kolar, QJ, we'll talk about some of these other Trey Harris as a super contrarian option.
5:47Some of these other options that you could potentially stack up Justin Herbert with, you can get contrarian pretty quickly with the stack.
5:54And again, just 11% doesn't scare me golf. Yeah, I think I'm kind of neutral on 10%.
6:00I, it's not like a big, big fade for me with golf being at 10%, but also just not a priority relative
6:07to some of the other quarterbacks on the slate.
6:09Do love that we have, you know, again, several great stacking options with golf.
6:14I'm really into Gibbs. They were really into JMO.
6:17I mean, we'll talk about some of these players when we get to their positions.
6:21Yeah, golf seems fine to me at 10%. And then shock is just the one that I just don't really see a reason to get to shock.
6:30I don't think he has that ceiling that we need, especially because I think Jerry golf is it's now scoring.
6:36He's only $400 more expensive. So I'd rather just get, get away from the shock shock.
6:41And I should note, I mean, we're looking at the projections page right here, Justin Herbert, 3.44 fantasy points per dollar.
6:47That is better than any of the other quarterbacks on the screen right now.
6:52And these are of course industry leading projections last year.
6:55The fantasy points projections absolutely crushed last year. So I think we can use them to guide us to some extent.
7:02And, and you can see that Justin Herbert has a strong fantasy point per dollar number.
7:07Um, this is probably a good point, uh, to, to let people know that of course you can subscribe.
7:12I believe, I believe the promo code is okay.
7:15DFS, uh, on the bottom of the screen there, 10% off any product at fantasy points.
7:20Highly recommend checking that out. If you have not already, uh, subscribed to fantasy points.
7:25Well, you've already seen on the screen a few times data suite 2.0, which is the best tool that I think has ever come out for fantasy football.
7:34Fantastic tool. But even if you just want access to content and access to projections, that's all, uh, behind the paywall disc
7:41use promo code DFS, you'll get 10% off there.
7:43Um, should we move on to some of the more contrarian quarterback options?
7:47Yeah, let's do it. Is there anyone you want to call out here or should I give you one?
7:53I know Scott Barrett would make you, uh, just try to guess at who he liked and who he did in, in the most obnoxious way possible.
8:02It's always a fun game. Yeah. We can play the game then go ahead, throw, throw some names out at me.
8:08Um, all right, let me, let me pull up the projections on my screen.
8:13Just a little bit easier for me to, uh, to work it that way.
8:17Um, so yeah, outside of, let's see players that you would like, you know, I suspect that you're going to like, uh, Baker Mayfield.
8:25Do you have any interest in Baker Mayfield against, uh, Cincinnati knocking and just 5% ownership going to Baker?
8:31He's somebody that kind of intrigues me, but I'm curious if you feel the same way about Baker.
8:36I can understand it. Uh, of course he played a lot of the season last year injured.
8:41Uh, if, if you go pull up like his injury log in the fantasy points data suite 2.0, it's hilarious.
8:48He just had, uh, shoulder oblique, uh, just a ton of different ailments throughout the entire season.
8:53Uh, and it, it is true. This is a really strong on paper matchup against the Bengals in a high total game.
9:00Uh, and Baker from the start of 2024 through week six, when he had his oblique injury, uh, was averaged fewer fantasy
9:07points per game than Josh Allen and no other quarterback.
9:10So second in fantasy points per game over that span, I can see it at 5%.
9:15There's some interest here. Uh, Jalen McMillan is listed as doubtful.
9:18So it becomes an even more condensed passing attack, uh, between a Mecca Ibuka and Chris Godwin.
9:24Very, very sad that McMillan's likely not going to play by the way.
9:28He was, uh, one of my biggest galaxy brain plays.
9:31I know you're a Jalen McMillan fan. I was so excited to talk about Jalen McMillan on this show today, but we really can't now.
9:39Uh, but yeah, I, I think Baker doubles have some juice to me.
9:43Probably not my favorite, uh, kind of contrarian play below like 10% ownership, but I can get there.
9:48You know, I said it and I immediately thought that was a bad guess.
9:53Ryan's not going to love Baker Mayfield. Cause you look at the fan's points per dollar, not that great of fans points per dollar.
10:00And I think it's a situation where we think of Cincinnati's defense as being worse than it actually is.
10:06Like it's, this is the best Cincinnati defense that we've seen in years.
10:10So, uh, that's not really the way we want to get contrarian is, you know, leaning into a matchup.
10:16That's actually worse than people think it is. I think that I'm leaning into it because I like Chris Godwin so much.
10:23I think, uh, with the Mika Agbuka potentially seeing some shadow coverage, it makes me have more interest in Mika Agbuka.
10:29Uh, sorry. In Chris Godwin as a result of, of that.
10:33Um, but yeah, that, that was not my, I think the better guess would be if I pull up the fantasy points
10:40projections, sort by, uh, fantasy points per dollar at the top, there is Kyler Murray at 5,500.
10:45I guess he is getting 7% ownership. So, you know, just, just a touch below, um, Tyler Shuck, but to me, just so much better than Tyler Shuck.
10:54I kind of like both quarterbacks in that game, Kyler Murray, and then Jordan love, especially with some of the recent coach
11:01speak from the floor about how they're going to be more condensed with their wide receiver tree.
11:06Uh, do you, do you have any interest? Is there a quarterback from this game or do you like both the quarterbacks from the Minnesota green Bay game?
11:15Uh, first of all, just like agree with you in terms of Kyler being a more intriguing play than Shuck.
11:21To me, a lot of the reason that Shuck was scoring well at the end of last season, and probably the reason
11:28he projects decently well around the industry, uh, is that he was getting a lot of, uh, rushing attempts, like near the goal line, right?
11:36Because the Saints just didn't have any running backs at the end of last season.
11:40Uh, that's not the case anymore. They signed Travis Achan.
11:43I don't know that Shuck projects that well from a rushing standpoint anymore.
11:48Uh, Kyler Murray does. And yeah, it certainly is a point per dollar value.
11:52Uh, you can make the argument for look every single quarterback other than JJ McCarthy that Kevin O'Connell has ever gotten his
11:59hands on has been more than viable at a salary like this.
12:03Guys like Carson Wentz, Josh Dobbs, Nick Mullins, all of those names average between 18 to 20 DraftKings fantasy points.
12:09Uh, to me, that is maybe not like the highest upside way to play this game though, because yeah, you did kind of guess it, Neil.
12:17Jordan Love is made like the galaxy brain quarterback that I've been the most enamored with.
12:22Uh, and that I'm interested to hear your thoughts on, but to lay out my sort of case, the Packers have always
12:29been an incredibly efficient offense on a per drop back basis.
12:32Uh, they are top three in EPA per drop back in the Jordan Love era.
12:37Matt LaFleur is a great play designer, a great play caller, but he is just so conservative.
12:42Anytime that he has been able to just hand the ball off to Josh Jacobs, he has done it.
12:48He's been like, man, I have never seen a better first and 10 to get three yards with Josh Jacobs on that.
12:55That has been his modus operandi, the, his entire career, right?
12:58With Jacobs not playing, uh, with the team sounding not that convinced by Marshawn Lloyd as a bell cow.
13:04Uh, I can see a world where the Packers lean into the passing game and anytime they've done that, uh, even against
13:11this Brian Flores led Vikings defense, the results have been really good.
13:15Uh, in games with 25 or more drop backs against Brian Flores.
13:19So that's only taking out like one game that the Packers totally controlled last year.
13:23Jordan Love averages 23 DraftKings fantasy points per game.
13:26He has scores of 34 and 28 DK points within that sample.
13:30I think Love is kind of a guy no one's talking about, but he's a really fun contrarian QB play to me.
13:37Uh, the stack of course would be Jaden Reed plus Christian Watson.
13:41I think you do want to double it to really lean into the game environment.
13:45If you are going the Jordan Love direction, uh, I'm very into the schematic matchup for Jaden Reed.
13:51He's been incredible against the Blitz. Uh, has like 170% increase in his yards per out run over the last 10 games.
13:58Uh, and of course, Brian Flores, uh, one of the Blitz heaviest defensive coordinators in the NFL.
14:03So I can really see it for the Packers here.
14:06Jordan Love, Christian Watson, Jaden Reed. It's nice because that's a relatively cheaper stack relative to some of the other ones people
14:13are going to play on a slate where the like kind of top end plays are priced down relative to where they'll be later in the year.
14:21All these high end bell cow running backs, uh, Jamar chase, Almanra St.
14:26Brown, all the cheapest that they're probably going to be all year.
14:29So you get to take advantage of that a little bit more around a Packer stack.
14:34So yeah, I don't know. Tell, tell me I'm crazy.
14:37Tell me I'm wrong. But I, I think Jordan Love is yeah.
14:41Low key, a pretty great play this week. I I'm a Vikings fan.
14:45And sadly, I won't tell you that you're crazy or that you're wrong.
14:49By the way, I know you do a lot of shows with Jacob Sanderson that, that sort of felt like, uh, you
14:56know, quiet shot at Jacob Sanderson to not even mention Matthew golden.
15:00I know he's really high on Matthew golden. And you're just like, of course it's Christian Watson and Jaden Reed as the stack with Jordan love.
15:08Uh, that's funny. Cause I, that's the one, you know, question for me is how do I want to stack up Jordan love?
15:15And I think you make a lot of good points.
15:18I do think that he is a great play.
15:21And I like for, for DFS purposes, more so than season long.
15:25I kind of like that. Like when, when he's scoring his points, it's through the air because then you can just cover
15:32more ground by getting that double stack. Like if Jordan love is the quarterback that you need, it's probably going to bring along multiple.
15:39Pass catchers with him. I love the idea, like you said, of stacking up with Christian Watson and Jaden Reed.
15:45And like you said, like they might just lean into the past more now that they don't have Josh Jacobs.
15:52But then on top of that, no, no more Romeo Dobbs, no more Dontavian wicks.
15:56Oh, Melton was just released. If you had any concern about Bo Melton.
16:00Uh, so, and just like the floor quotes are just, we want to have those three guys on the field as much as possible.
16:08We're also dealing with Tucker craft is probably going to be limited to start the year.
16:13That that's kind of, uh, the way the team has made it sound is that he's going to be kind of on
16:20a pitch count to start the year. So probably the, the best, um, the best stacks are going to be with those wide receivers.
16:27I'm not going to ask you about your, your decision point on the wide receivers yet.
16:32I'm going to save that for the wide receiver section.
16:35Why we're, why we're excluding, uh, Matthew golden from the stack.
16:39Well, yeah, no, I love the call with Jordan love at 3% ownership on an offense.
16:44And so it is a tough matchup. The Vikings defense, I do expect to be very good this year, but I think
16:51the Packers offense also could surprise, um, any other, if I just open it up to you.
16:56So we've talked about a number of quarterbacks already.
16:59Um, but if you just look at the ownership, are there, are there any other lower own quarterbacks that you have particular interest in today?
17:07Uh, there are a few, uh, I think probably the most important one to just mention, and maybe this doesn't end up
17:14being lower own, but with what we're showing right now, I think 7% for Joe Burrow is just ridiculous.
17:19Frankly, what, what are we doing guys? Uh, I, I, I guess part of it is the enduring narrative that the Bengals always start slow in week one.
17:28This is like what people consistently have said to me anytime I've been talking up Joe Burrow this week.
17:34Uh, but that's like a fake stat to me.
17:37Uh, I tweeted this out earlier in the week, but yes, over the past three seasons, Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase have not performed well in week one.
17:45Um, two of those three games were against the Miles Garrett led Browns, which the Bengals have always sucked against kind of
17:52regardless of whether they play them in week one or week 10 or week 18.
17:57That just is like a Miles Garrett having Joe Burrow's number thing to me.
18:01Uh, but if you zoom out, look literally one year before that, uh, Burrow and Chase went off in week one of 2022.
18:08Uh, had a pretty good score in week one of 2021.
18:12I don't think the week one Bengals thing is real at all.
18:16And if we're getting an ownership discount on it, I want to take advantage.
18:20It's a perfect schematic matchup for Burrow because he leads the NFL in fantasy points per drop back against the blitz last year.
18:27Twice as efficient at scoring fantasy points relative to when he's not blitzed.
18:31Uh, Todd Bowles has just always been a very blitz heavy defensive coordinator for the Buccaneers.
18:36He literally never learns the one time that he has played Burrow in the last five seasons.
18:42He blitzed him like 40% of the time Burrow dropped 26 draft Kings points on him for the trouble.
18:48Uh, I, yeah, I just kind of, I, I guess the reason is that there are other like higher priced plays at
18:54running back and wide receiver that people want to get to.
18:58But I think that's a mistake if Burrow is actually only going to be 7% because he, to me, is just straight
19:05up better than all of the quarterbacks that we have ahead of him in projected ownership.
19:10I do think that we need to keep our eye on ownership as we get closer to lock because I'm with you.
19:17Like, yeah, if, if Joe Burrow comes in at 7%, just, you want to load up on Joe Burrow, total pass funnel defense, awesome offense.
19:24I, I kind of don't believe it. Like just because we have Jamar Chase is chalky.
19:29T Higgins is chalky. Like if people are playing the receivers, you have to imagine Joe Burrow is going to get in there as well.
19:37Maybe because he is, he's kind of expensive and people want to play.
19:41I mean, Jamar Chase is expensive, but then also like Jameer Gibbs is expensive.
19:46Bijan Robinson, like people are going to want to play some of the more expensive options at other positions.
19:52I guess it's possible he gets squeezed just from, just from a salary perspective, but I'd be pretty surprised if Joe Burrow
19:58comes in at 7%, just, just given, just given how chalky some of the other pass catchers on the Bengals are.
20:05Then again, I know, I know these are a wet lead ownership projections.
20:09They're going to be dialed in. So just make sure that you look at the ownership projections tomorrow.
20:15That's when they're going to be the most dialed in.
20:18But yeah, if Burrow is at 7%, I love that call.
20:21I think he's going to be a fantastic pick.
20:24Um, let me see if I have any other quarterbacks or, I mean, if you have any others that you want to
20:31throw out there, feel free, but otherwise I will see if there's any that I have particular interested that I want your takes on.
20:38Yeah, you go for it, Neil. I think that I, I gave out two, uh, from my advanced matchups column that you
20:45can go get on fantasypoints.com right now. It's in the same package as the projections, the fantasy pro package.
20:51Uh, the, the point of that for those who are unfamiliar is I just try to find the handful of plays that I think can completely go off.
21:00It's bonus points for if nobody else is talking about them.
21:03Um, I, I try to make it at least like a relatively contrarian focused article going over covered shell schematic matchups, everything
21:10I dig through with the fantasy points data suite.
21:13And then, yeah, I kind of bring the research here to Neil on this show, but yeah, I can't, I can't give everything away from the article.
21:21So if you guys do want to go read the entire thing over 6,000 words of notes, uh, yeah, Ryan heats, advanced matchups on fantasy points.
21:30You can use promo code DFS and yeah, Neil, give me some of the quarterbacks that you are interested in here at
21:36lower ownership and interested to hear your thoughts. There's only two more that I, uh, that stand out to me that I
21:43want your thoughts on, um, because I could see, and they're both from the same game.
21:48And I see this game as having potential to go off and I sort of have interest in both quarterbacks, uh, Lamar Jackson and Daniel Jones.
21:56To me, that's a game that Baltimore could come in and just be a really high powered offense this year.
22:03Uh, they could play a little bit faster and then Daniel Jones, I think he's been looking like he's pretty healthy and
22:10we saw what the Colts could do with Daniel Jones healthy last year.
22:14So I think there's, you know, kind of a wide range of outcomes for this game and neither of these quarterbacks is
22:20particularly strong point per dollar, but they're not getting a lot of ownership as a result.
22:25Um, so I'm, you know, I'm, I'm tempted by it.
22:29Do you, uh, do you see any reason to play them?
22:32Would you play them in, you know, a 20 lineup set or would have to be more like a one 50 set?
22:39I'd probably need a one 50 set to get to those two quarterbacks.
22:43Uh, I mean, to make the case for Jones at 3% ownership, Hey, he was leading the NFL in passing yards per
22:50game through like week 10 last year before he got injured.
22:53I was just playing completely out of his mind.
22:56I think everybody over the off season has kind of just merged toward, Hey, he's coming off of an Achilles injury.
23:03It's Daniel Jones, a guy that like nobody in NFL circles has ever really thought was that good of a player.
23:09So the regression is just like very priced in, I think to everybody's minds right now.
23:14Uh, but yeah, if that's wrong, I could see Daniel Jones taking down like a large field tournament, but yeah, I would
23:21probably need to get to a one 50 set.
23:24Uh, Lamar is interesting. Like up at 6,800. It's just hard for me when he's sandwiched in between Joe Burrow, uh, who
23:31we just talked about and Jalen hurts. I think you can make, uh, kind of similar argument for where both, uh, Lamar
23:38and hurts were not like as amazing for fantasy football last year.
23:41Uh, Lamar, because of injuries hurts because of the awful offensive coordinator, Kevin Petulo.
23:46Both of them are going to be in completely new offenses.
23:49I'm high on both of their new play callers, uh, Declan Doyle and Sean Mannion.
23:54If I had to pick, it would probably be Jalen hurts between the two of them, just because hurts kind of at
24:01any given moment can break a slate by falling into the end zone twice from the one yard line.
24:07And that that's just, uh, I, yeah, I don't know that that's just like an angle.
24:12I never want to forget about, um, with Lamar.
24:14It's, it's just the, the way he wins a tournament is he was by far like the QB two behind Josh Allen
24:21over the last three years, uh, in terms of DraftKings fantasy points and everything.
24:26Uh, it was like never a question that it was those two guys at the top.
24:31Uh, and we've all just forgotten how good he is because he played hurt last year, uh, a lot.
24:37So if you look at his, even if his passing stats, like per drop back really, really suffered when he was playing
24:43through lower body injuries, just because the run threat wasn't there for opposing defenses to key in on.
24:49Uh, so I, I could begin to talk myself into it.
24:53Like just everybody's forgotten how dynamically efficient Lamar Jackson can be.
24:56Uh, who, like, who are you stacking with? Who are you stacking Lamar with?
25:00I guess is what, what I would ask. Cause I think it gets pretty difficult.
25:05I think Mark Andrews cheap is interesting. Flowers is a little, uh, maybe overpriced relative to some of the other wide receivers on the slate in my opinion.
25:14Uh, but yeah, I, so I, I guess long ramble, but I'm open to both of them.
25:19I don't think I'm getting to them outside of a one 50 set though.
25:23You're not throwing Jacoby lane out there. I mean, he's, he's, everybody is darling these days at Jacoby lane for me.
25:30It would be, I have no real opinion on Jacoby.
25:33I haven't seen the ownership yet. Uh, it would be Zay flowers though, for me, like I agree, like he's probably a
25:40little bit too expensive for what he is. However, if, if Lamar hits, it's pretty likely that Zay flowers also hits.
25:47And, you know, I've kind of high expectations for Zay flowers this year.
25:51I think he could be due for a breakout, maybe, uh, some, some positive touchdown regression for Zay flowers.
25:57Um, it is kind of what we're hoping for.
25:59So yeah, I, I guess it would be, if I'm stacking up Lamar, it would probably be Zay flowers.
26:05I mean, I just hope, you know, I think the best version of the offense would be the version where, where Zay flowers is going atomic.
26:13So yeah, and you'd probably Zay flowers. I actually like the, like total, total shot in dark, a long shot pick would be Rashad Bateman.
26:21Like after he had just a terrible year last year, they keep talking about him.
26:26Like he's the wide receiver too. It's been, it's been one of those things that like, is this real?
26:32I don't know. Like they've got these two new rookies that they just signed.
26:36Like they're not showing a lot of confidence in Rashad Bateman with their, all their draft picks.
26:42They still have Tez Walker from last year. Um, so like the, the drafting does not show confidence in Rashad Bateman, but they keep talking about him.
26:50Like he is the wide receiver too. And he keeps talking about how excited he is to be in this new offense,
26:57how it's going to be, you know, they're using him in lots of different ways.
27:02Um, which you can interpret that how you will, the fact that, uh, they, they haven't really found the right way to use Rashad Bateman yet.
27:10But, um, yeah, I think most likely it's just a flowers.
27:13I don't even know that I'll play Rashad Bateman.
27:16Uh, well, I guess we can, we'll see if we get there when we talk through wide receivers.
27:21Uh, but yeah, probably, probably just Lamar with, uh, Zay flowers single stack for me.
27:26If I, if I go there. Um, Rashad Bateman's hurt me enough times in my life that I, that I'm probably all set with Rashad Bateman.
27:34I, I drafted him some in best ball toward the end of the off season, just cause that's like a yearly tradition for me.
27:42Um, but yeah, outside of that, not a lot to say on him.
27:46Yeah. I think that's totally fair. I also, I do like the, the Jalen hurts shout out.
27:51I don't know. I like for some reason that game, I see Eagles commanders and I don't want to play it.
27:58It doesn't stand out to me as like, that's a game I really want to attack.
28:03I think because the Eagles defense is so good.
28:06Um, but I, I can totally see that. And, you know, we, we've had a whole off season of, uh, his, his former receiver kind of trashing him.
28:14You know, maybe, maybe Jalen hurts comes out with a chip on his shoulder wanting to throw the ball a little bit
28:21more show that he can do it without AJ Brown.
28:24Uh, and, and with Devonta Smith and Makai lemon.
28:27Um, you know, I think the offense could be, could be a pretty fun one with no Kevin Batullo this year.
28:34So I, I like that shot. It's one that I have not thought about much.
28:38Um, but maybe, maybe Jalen hurts. Somebody I'll kind of add to my portfolio 6% ownership.
28:43That seems reasonable enough for hurts. Uh, when you play hurts, will you be single stacking, double stacking, not stacking at all?
28:50I mean, you talk about the potential for two touchdowns.
28:53You still want in a stack up hurts when you play.
28:57I think you want to at least single stack him.
29:00Uh, we can, I can just tell you who I'd single stack him with.
29:04Uh, it is probably Dallas Goddard. Uh, so while, while I am totally open to the idea that Devonta Smith like completely
29:11proves himself as an alpha wide receiver one this year, Goddard has been on a per route basis as good or better than Devonta Smith.
29:19Uh, whenever AJ Brown has been off the field, uh, Goddard is extremely cheap.
29:23This new offense is much more focused on throws over the middle of the field.
29:28Uh, and that should theoretically benefit Dallas Goddard. Uh, yeah, he's just like a really underrated player to me.
29:34Uh, if we, it's like arguable how much you should read into any sort of matchups or schematic stuff this early in the season.
29:41But the commanders have a new defensive coordinator that comes from like the Brian Flores school coaching tree.
29:47Right. So a ton of two high looks there.
29:50Uh, we saw Dan Quinn, the commander's head coach play a ton of two high looks over the last, uh, like seven
29:57games of the season when he took over defensive play calling.
30:00So if that's like the commonality with them, uh, kind of regardless of who has more input, if that's what the commanders
30:07are doing, uh, two high looks have been better for Dallas Goddard than for Devonta Smith.
30:12Uh, that's just kind of generally true for a lot of tight ends versus like outside wide receiver ones.
30:18The two high tends to funnel targets towards the tight ends a little bit more.
30:23So I think that would be a reason to be, uh, more like leaning more towards Goddard as the stacking partner.
30:29But I think you probably wouldn't double him if, if you are banking on like the two rushing touchdowns, but yeah, two
30:36rushing touchdowns plus a Dallas Goddard, uh, shovel pass into the end zone is, is totally like, like in the cards potentially.
30:43So that that's kind of how I would approach it.
30:46I like it. Uh, rest in peace. Eli Stowers is a fantasy asset.
30:50That was fun. While it lasted. Well, we thought he might be the next Harold fan.
30:55And I shouldn't include you in that. I thought maybe he would be, let's move on to, to running back.
31:01So I think we've covered quarterbacks pretty well and, uh, running back going to be pretty fun to talk about because look at the top here.
31:09Jameer Gibbs, 40% projected ownership. I think he's really the only running back that I would call true chalk at 40%.
31:16Um, that's a lot. Is it worth it for Jameer Gibbs with no David Montgomery there?
31:21I mean, you see the 25.4 fantasy point projection.
31:24That is not something you see every slate. How much interest do you have in Jameer Gibbs?
31:29I have a lot of interest in Jameer Gibbs.
31:32It's he's like, I kind of struggled on cashing points to poke any sort of holes in him.
31:38I know this is outside the box. We're supposed to poke holes in the chalk, but Gibbs seems very bulletproof to me.
31:44Uh, it's a seven point spread. The lions should control this game throughout and Gibbs averaged over 30 draft Kings fantasy points per game in wins last year.
31:53That's 40% better than any other running back. On this slate averaged, uh, the splits are pretty similar, uh, in terms of
32:00when Dan Campbell took over play calling and they, uh, got like David Montgomery much less involved in the offense.
32:06Of course, Montgomery now gone, uh, now on the Texans.
32:09So, and the, the lions backup running backs, Isaiah Pacheco is on IR.
32:13Uh, they just have, uh, it's J it's Jacob sailors, right?
32:17The, like the UFL guy is potentially their RB too.
32:20Uh, so yeah, I, I don't see any reason not to be all in on Jameer Gibbs.
32:25It's like the closest thing to a lock button play on this slate for me.
32:30Uh, yeah. I don't, do you see like any way to get, get around it?
32:35I think it really, the game this week at running back is you, you start with Jameer Gibbs and then you kind
32:42of mix and match all of these like between 10 to 20% own guys of which we have a ton, uh, that
32:48I think are like the more important ones to kind of get right.
32:52Yeah, no, I think it was just an obvious great play.
32:56Um, I, you know, the, the case you could make for not playing Jameer Gibbs would be maybe he puts up 25
33:03fantasy points, but he's also the most expensive running back on the slate.
33:07So you get those, you know, a couple other, three other running backs to put up 25 fantasy points in there.
33:135,700, 5,900. You can, you can differentiate with those cheaper options, but Gibbs feels, it feels pretty safe to put up a ton of fantasy points here.
33:22Um, I'm, I'm going to play a lot. I don't know if I'll play 40%.
33:27I don't know if I'll play 20% or 60% yet.
33:30I think it's all of those are viable options with Jameer Gibbs.
33:33I like, I don't think a fade is like completely out of the question just again, because there is opportunity cost and
33:40it is possible that you're going to get, uh, some, some cheaper running backs to outscore him.
33:46But 40% seems just fair to me. Just, just how given how good of an option Jameer Gibbs is.
33:51Um, so yeah, I don't like, we don't have to poke holes in the chalk.
33:56It was good chalk. I mean, we can just, we can accept that there is, there is good chalk here.
34:02Um, so yeah, I think, I think Jameer Gibbs, one that we are both accepting as being pretty good chalk.
34:09Um, I will, I mean, we're, I guess we were, I said Gibbs is the only one who's really chalk here because
34:16he's more than double the ownership of any other running back.
34:19But then you do get into, I mean, Bijan Robinson, as talented as he is much, much tougher matchup with the Steelers.
34:26Um, we've got, uh, I forget who the quarterback is now that the, it's not, not even Jack Strand.
34:32Oh, they have Cooper rush, right? Cooper rush is the quarterback.
34:35Um, I wish it was Jack strand. That'd be way more fun.
34:39Do you have any particular interest or particular fade interest in any of Bijan Robinson, Devin HN or Jonathan Taylor?
34:45I, I think Bijan is the clearest fade to me.
34:48Uh, and the reason for that is, yeah, if we had gotten to a Tunga Vailoa, it would have been an amazing kind of PPR scam potential, right?
34:57To a, one of the highest running back target rate quarterbacks in the league over the past several years, of course, was
35:04feeding Devon HN, uh, to some amazing fantasy finishes for a long time.
35:08Uh, but Cooper rush, uh, a note that Jake trippy shared on caching points is Russia has one of the lowest running back target rates over his career.
35:17It's like Lamar Jackson ask the guy basically doesn't throw to the running backs.
35:21Uh, yeah, just, I don't know that the game environment is that much worse than it would have been with Tua Tunga Vailoa.
35:28Uh, I think the, the, the spread only moved like a point or something like that, which is, yeah, indictment of Tua for sure.
35:36But I do think just like stylistically, uh, like where the offense is going to run through, it's like, it's just a little bit tougher.
35:44Uh, it makes, yeah, the, the Falcons bigger underdogs, which isn't great if Bijan's not getting it done through the air with rush.
35:51So I, yeah, like the closest thing to a fade of these three for me would be Bijan.
35:56Yeah. I think that that is totally reasonable. Just like, like you said, given the matchup, uh, quarterback now, I mean, that's
36:03a big part of the Bijan cheat code is that he's going to get a lot of receptions.
36:09And if he's not getting those in a tough matchup at this price tag with Jameer gives right there.
36:15Yeah, it does, does feel like a bit of a fade to me.
36:19Um, I mean, Jonathan Taylor, I talked about, you know, kind of liking Jonathan Taylor was so much better in games with Daniel Jones last year.
36:27When Daniel Jones got hurt, that's when suddenly Jonathan Taylor took a big dip.
36:31Now he's coming in at 15% with Daniel Jones back.
36:34I know you said you're not totally buying into Daniel Jones, uh, as a quarterback play, but better than what they were throwing out there last year.
36:43Do you think Jonathan Taylor gets back to where he was and do you like him in this matchup with Baltimore?
36:49Yeah. So this is like a DFS game theory question that I wanted to set up for you.
36:55Uh, because I look at Jonathan Taylor at 15% ownership and I say, okay, uh, last year when the Colts won in,
37:02in all their wins, he averaged 31.5 draft Kings fantasy points per game.
37:06Uh, the most games grip sensitive running back in the NFL.
37:09He it's like the highest in wins average of any running back over the last five years.
37:15What he did last year was absurd. And of course, yeah, all of their wins came with Daniel Jones toward the start of the season.
37:23Makes sense that he's game script sensitive. He's not quite as involved as, uh, as of a pass catcher, uh, as like a Jameer Gibbs, a B.
37:31John Robinson. Right. So to me, you might say, okay, Ryan, well, the, the Colts are playing the Ravens.
37:37That's a really good team. They're the underdog. Why would you want to play Jonathan Taylor then?
37:42Uh, and I would say because it's like, it's week one, number one.
37:46It's, this is like when we're the most uncertain about all of these teams.
37:51Uh, maybe the Ravens offense, uh, with this new OC is like way worse than we expect.
37:56Maybe Jesse Minner's defense doesn't immediately gel together. Right.
37:59Uh, there's just like a wider range of outcomes.
38:02If you look at betting markets, it's about a 40% implied win probability for the Colts.
38:07So is that just like a 40% chance that Jonathan Taylor scores over 30 DraftKings fantasy points?
38:12Neil, like what if he's 15% owned and it's a 40% chance?
38:16Like why, why would I not want to play more Jonathan Taylor than that?
38:20Uh, I, I guess like intuitively, I know it doesn't exactly work like that, but that's like kind of where my brain
38:27goes when I look at him this week. Yeah.
38:30I take the under, if you, if you give me those odds, I don't know what the, what, how the math works
38:37as far as the, what a bookkeeper would give you.
38:40I'd take the under on 40% odds of Jonathan Taylor putting up a 31 plus fantasy points.
38:45But yeah, it's a fascinating question. I love the call out of like, yeah, this is a week one.
38:51We assume Baltimore is going to have a really good defense, but even if that's true, if we know that they are
38:58going to have a really good defense, it might not be week one.
39:02And, and mistakes happen more so earlier in the year.
39:05And, you know, we can take advantage of mistakes.
39:08Jonathan Taylor with his speed, you just have, you know, one, one player out of position and he's just gone for an ADR touchdown.
39:15Um, so yeah, Jonathan Taylor seems like a pretty strong option in week one against Baltimore.
39:20Um, 15% ownership though. It's not a number where it's like low enough that I'm like, Oh, this is a smash.
39:27I just want to, it's more like, yeah, that seems fair to me.
39:31Um, you, you, you set up the 40% number.
39:34I don't think that I think you'd agree with me that he has lower, lower than 40% odds of scoring 30 plus draft Kings points.
39:42Um, do you, do you feel strongly though, that he is a much, much better play than the 15% ownership, uh, would suggest?
39:49I don't know because like, yeah, I set that hypothetical up like that, but also there, there are all these other things.
39:56Other really awesome running backs on this slate that we kind of have to pick between, uh, you can only play for the expensive guys.
40:03It's going to be hard to get more than two of them into a lineup.
40:08So yeah, I mean, maybe, maybe he is a great play, but there, there could be like way greater plays elsewhere.
40:15So yeah, I, I think like of these three guys after Gibbs, uh, between B.
40:19John, Devon H and Jonathan Taylor, Taylor is the one that I'm like most intrigued by.
40:24Um, but yeah, yeah, I mean, I, I would concede it's not literally a 40% odds of him hitting 30 DK and winning everybody tournaments.
40:32Uh, but it, it is like, was something, yeah, just something I thought about something I, uh, wrote, wrote in my article
40:39that I, I thought was kind of a, yeah, like a funny little way to think about it.
40:45Um, that is a funny way to think about it.
40:48Um, I mean, we, we talk about like the unknowns early in the season, but we have one known on the screen
40:55right here, which is Miami's office is just going to be a mess, right?
40:59It's just going to be completely broken, untenable. They're not going to support a ton of fantasy success.
41:05Uh, but could they support Devon H and in week one, uh, against the Raiders?
41:09Do you think that's a possibility? If there were going to be a game where they could, it probably would be here
41:16against the Raiders and one of the, yeah, just easiest spots, uh, closest spreads that the dolphins are going to have all season.
41:23But I kind of lean. No, uh, I love Devon H and as a player to be clear, like one of my
41:30favorite players in the NFL, I was massively touting him in all fantasy.
41:34Formats for the last two years, basically nonstop, uh, kind of no matter what happened.
41:39But with Malik Willis as the quarterback, the issue we run into for the dolphins is, Hey, Willis has a career high
41:46of, I think it's, is it 21 dropbacks in a game or something like that?
41:50It's very low. Uh, and he's done it like once this is going to be by far the most run heavy offense in the league.
41:58And even when Willis is dropping back, it's going to be a lot of sacks, a lot of scrambles, a lot of throwaways.
42:05Uh, I had this chart that I tweeted out at some point this summer.
42:10That's just drop back conversion rate in terms of how often are your dropbacks actually turning into pass attempts.
42:16It's Justin Fields and Malik Willis and like the bottom left of that chart by far, like outlier super far away from everyone.
42:23What that does is it just eats all of these pass attempts, all of these targets, all of these plays out of
42:30the offenses of, uh, the, of those two guys.
42:33And HN, while he's honestly very underrated as a runner, he really has like made his living in fantasy as a PPR option, right?
42:40As a receiver out of the backfield, that's like where he makes the biggest difference.
42:45And even if it is like, Hey, who else are the dolphins throwing to?
42:49And that's fair enough. Even if you want to project like a 20% Devon HN target share, it's like, okay, 20% of
42:56what 20% of like 14 aimed pass attempts. Like what, what are we doing here?
43:01It, so I, I could be proven wrong, but this was like my take on HN coming into the season is I
43:08just don't see how the math works, how the, uh, play volume works.
43:12Of course you, you would say, well, Ryan, uh, Chris Wecht had the most accurate projections, uh, in the industry last year.
43:19And he seems to like the Devon HN map.
43:21Uh, Chris has always been much higher on HN has him, uh, pretty strong from a point per dollar standpoint right behind Jameer Gibbs.
43:29So that, that would be the counter is Ryan.
43:32Maybe you're not actually better at math than Chris Wecht is, uh, which would be fair enough.
43:37But yeah, I, I, for those reasons, I just find myself kind of like gravitating away from HN this week.
43:43Yeah, I'm, I'm team Ryan on this one. HN was a big, big fade for me in best ball.
43:49Uh, I just, he can obviously get there. He's only 7,000 fair price.
43:53You can see he has a pretty strong point per dollar play.
43:57I just, I think the, the point per dollar kind of reflects a better floor and not so much a ridiculously high ceiling.
44:04Um, although the floor to me doesn't even feel that high, just given, like you said, how, how many pass attempts are they really going to have?
44:13So even if he has a high target share, like, is he going to see more than five targets in a game anyway?
44:20I think you will. The way the coaches talk about him is he's never leaving the field.
44:25He's going to be used. They're going to have to pick them up off the field at the end of games because
44:32they're going to use him so much. I just, I think that's what they're hoping.
44:37I don't know if the offense is going to be on the field enough for, for that to matter.
44:43Um, so yeah, I'm, I'm not super in on a-chan.
44:46Um, I, I do, I, I realize looking on, on my screen now, uh, Trey, can you, uh, can you scroll down just slightly?
44:53Cause we have two more players at 15% projected ownership to talk about, uh, in, in Derek Henry and Ashton Gentry.
45:00So as we're given the 15% plus the, uh, the chalk treatment, we better do it for those two as well.
45:06Um, Ashton Gentry appears to be healthy. Prayer circle worked on Ashton Gentry.
45:10Uh, at this point, I think he's a full go and he has this great matchup with Miami's defense, which I think is also a mess.
45:18Uh, and then we have Derek Henry against the Colts.
45:22Do you have, uh, any particular interest or fade interest in either of these two?
45:26Uh, Neil, Graham kind of posed this question on cashing points and I didn't have a good answer, but I am interested in your answer.
45:34Had the prayer circle never happened. If that whole like injury kerfuffle never happened, uh, which at this point, it sounds like it basically hasn't.
45:42I don't think Gentry is going to be limited at all from what we've heard.
45:47It must've been a much more minor injury than it appeared.
45:50Uh, and even if we'll say in this hypothetical that Mike Washington went off in the preseason, uh, as he did, what
45:57do you think Gentry's ownership would be in week one?
46:00It just, if we never had that kind of rollercoaster in August that we all had to live through, uh, cause I
46:07think it would be much higher than 15%. But yeah, I'm curious where you fall on that.
46:12Uh, but I, yeah, I, I think like of these kind of top higher ownership running backs, he, he's one that I,
46:19uh, yeah, just gravitate toward a lot. Uh, we saw from a game script perspective.
46:24His offensive line play and his offenses have just overperformed relative to preseason expectation.
46:28Uh, I, I would argue that Mike Washington going off in the preseason is maybe a signal that this just is a
46:35really well-designed running game that we should want the biggest piece of, which is Ashton Gentry.
46:40So yeah, I, any of your thoughts on that I'd be interested in and, and yeah, where do you think his ownership
46:47would be if we never had to suffer through the prayer circle?
46:51Yeah, I would say I was thinking 28%. I think it would be 28% if we never suffered through, like, I think
46:57this would, I think you're absolutely right that this would have been the chalk because he's playing against Miami.
47:03No Brock Bowers, which I think you can go either way on how that affects things because Bowers obviously makes the offense
47:10better, um, but also takes a lot of usage away.
47:13Yeah, I think Ashton Gentry is going to just have awesome usage.
47:17Now we don't know for certain that this whole thing won't actually affect him somewhat.
47:22You know, he did miss a lot of practice.
47:25Um, it's possible that he is somewhat more limited, but yeah, I don't really think so.
47:30I kind of think like the way you laid it out, this is one of the few good matchups we're going to have all year.
47:37And the usage is going to be elite for Ashton Gentry.
47:41And I think this offense is going to be less broken than the Miami offense.
47:45Like you said, cause they have Clint Kubiak, uh, I think they're going to have a lot more success.
47:51So I'm into it. Ashton Gentry, 15% projected ownership at 6,600.
47:55Uh, yeah, I like, I like to play quite a bit with Gentry at this price tag.
48:00It's funny cause Derek Henry is only a hundred dollars more expensive, actually projects a little bit better.
48:06Um, doesn't stand out to me quite as much as, as a really strong play as Ashton Gentry, just because we're, we're talking about full PPR here.
48:14Doesn't have kind of the floor that comes with full PPR.
48:18You obviously have the ceiling with Derek Henry. You can hit that hundred yard bonus and have a couple of touchdowns.
48:24Um, but yeah, I feel like the floor is, is less safe with Henry, which kind of feels ridiculous now that I'm saying it.
48:32Cause we're talking about Derek Henry versus Ashton Gentry, uh, and the Ravens versus the Raiders.
48:37Um, but yeah, how are you feeling about Derek Henry?
48:40Yeah. Hey, if you had asked me last year or the year before that, or the year before that, I would have
48:47sat on the show and told you, yeah, he's hitting the age cliff this year.
48:51I see it coming. I've been calling it forever.
48:54Uh, I've stopped calling it with Derek Henry. Uh, I was in on him in redraft this year.
49:00I do think in this spot, if you're going to play him, you probably want to do it.
49:05Henry plus Ravens defense. And you say, this is it.
49:09We actually get like disaster Daniel Jones this week, which is also a possibility to me.
49:14Uh, so I think that's like how you'd want to play it.
49:17Um, just because Henry, uh, that until Jonathan Taylor came for his crown was like the most game script sensitive running back, like pure two down player.
49:26So I, yeah, to me, you just like take one or the other on either side of this game.
49:32However, you want to play it through. Um, I, I think I'm a little more intrigued by Taylor, but it's, it's basically like the same type of case.
49:40I like this case that trade just made in, uh, in our private chat says Henry and JT, both the most game script sensitive backs in the NFL.
49:49So you have to have at least, uh, play at one of them because they're going to head to head.
49:55So one of them is going to have the positive game script and got, it could just be a, you know, kind
50:02of a, a knockdown drag out kind of a game, I guess would be, would be the one counter as it is possible.
50:09This just ends up being a very close game where you never have, you know, a clear lead.
50:15Um, but yeah, no, I, I like that call out from, from Trey of maybe, maybe you can just count on one
50:22of these guys succeed in the other one failing.
50:25You probably don't want to play them in the same lineup though, is the definite, the definite takeaway.
50:30Right. Yeah, no, you definitely can't play them in the same lineup.
50:34Uh, I, I don't know. You're, you're the game theory expert, Neil, you tell me, but my understanding is that opposing running
50:41backs against each other in a DFS lineup where you're trying to hit a top 1% outcome, uh, is very thin.
50:48It's, it's very unlikely, especially for running backs that aren't that involved in the passing game.
50:53Because typically we, we see like, uh, Kyle men had an awesome, like series of tweets and article out about this, uh,
50:59on a fantasy points this summer, but like an absurd percentage of running back points are scored.
51:05Uh, when teams are leading, it's like 60 to 70% or something like that.
51:09So yeah, they, they can't, they can't both have positive game scripts.
51:13Yeah, I guess the, with these two, there is the possibility of just like 60 yard touchdown after 60 yard touchdown to speed up the game.
51:21But I, I agree. It's, it's, uh, it's not my favorite thing to do is to play running backs in the same
51:28game against each other when they're not pass catching running backs.
51:31It's a different story when it's Devin A. Chan and Christian McCaffrey.
51:35Uh, but yeah, with these two, it's, uh, it's more questionable, I think, um, just given the lack of, of pass catching.
51:42Uh, okay, let's move on to some more, uh, some, some more contrarian running backs.
51:47Um, do you want me to throw it to you or just, just name some that I suspect you're going to like,
51:53or do you want to continue playing the guessing game?
51:57Yeah, let's play the game. The game, the game's kind of fun.
52:00I see why Scott made you do this so much.
52:03It's a, it's like, it like feeds the ego a little bit of whether you're like going to guess it correctly.
52:10So let's stick with that. Whoa. Okay. Uh, Omarion Hampton.
52:13I mean, uh, he's, he's on the chargers. I know you like Justin Herbert, so I don't know to what extent Omarion
52:20Hampton, uh, you want to play him with Justin Herbert, but just given the matchup, the price tag, um, stands out to
52:27me as somebody that you might like, do you have any interest in Omarion Hampton?
52:32Yeah, I love Omarion Hampton this week. Uh, I think part of the reason I'm so kind of cagey on like running
52:38backs two through seven in ownership is I think Hampton is just as good or better of a play than most of them.
52:46Um, uh, you have Keaton Mitchell who is like anyone that's not been like on the kind of redraft and best ball
52:52fantasy football ride with us this summer. We'll probably be very confused by the rant I'm about to go on.
52:59Uh, Keaton Mitchell is like the guy that everyone that big best ball has tried to force us to care about this off season.
53:06And I, he fun player. Don't get me wrong.
53:09Came over from the Ravens. He's five foot eight, 190 pounds.
53:12He, I think the stack Graham Barfield gave out is he's never played more than 20 snaps in a game.
53:19I think he has a career high of like eight or nine touches.
53:23He's fun. He, when he touches the ball, he's very efficient.
53:26He's fast. He pops off the screen. Like I get why people are intrigued by Keaton Mitchell in a Mike McDaniel offense
53:33where he, yeah, I can see Keaton Mitchell having some big plays this year.
53:37I just don't see why in week one where Mitchell's been limited all week with a hamstring injury.
53:43Uh, we have the chargers is nine and a half point favorites against the Cardinals.
53:48Uh, the defense that we just spent a bunch of time talking about how awful it could be this year, uh, in the Justin Herbert section.
53:56We have Hampton going up against the Cardinals where Mike McDaniel in his, in his team's seven wins last year had his
54:03backfield average over 30 fantasy points per game. That's a top seven mark.
54:07The chargers clearly going to win this game. Even if you're like the biggest Omarian Hampton skeptic and you're like, okay, I,
54:14he gets like two thirds of the backfield fantasy points or expected fantasy points.
54:18That's like still a pretty damn good score. That's still 20 draft Kings fantasy points.
54:23That's like your baseline expectation. Uh, I don't, I don't know.
54:26I just don't understand why we're supposed to be afraid of Keaton Mitchell, especially at the goal line in a format where we're hunting touchdowns more than anything.
54:35Uh, in the, yeah, a DFS tournament where you want to finish top 1%.
54:39There's just a very big chance to me that Hampton is an every down bell cow or something close to it.
54:46Uh, Mitchell gets like a couple of gadgety types of touches.
54:49Uh, Hampton, by the way, the stat I keep sharing, uh, throughout the summer is he hit a 75% snap share in four games last year.
54:57That's despite him missing half the season, uh, because of an injury and that four games is more than any of Jameer
55:04Gibbs, Chase Brown, James Cook, or Derek Henry hit a 75% snap share last year.
55:09Hampton is just really built to be an incredibly fantasy friendly, every down bell cow.
55:14Uh, great hands, like obviously can get like get in at the goal line.
55:18Uh, yeah, I just, I, I don't get the skepticism.
55:21I think everyone's massively overthought Omerian Hampton this off season.
55:24And the best way to take advantage of that is right now in week one before everybody realizes they were wrong.
55:31So as a certified best ball bro, I have to start by asking you, are you aware of the wanted posters?
55:37I am. That's where the whole wanted. I mean, okay.
55:40I mean, you're, you're aware of the wanted poster.
55:43You still don't get it with Keaton Mitchell. I mean, Mike, Mike, we can put up wanted posters in the locker room
55:50saying this is, I want Keaton Mitchell on the team.
55:53This is the guy that I want. Um, no, I, I, so first of all, I'll, I'll make the case for, um,
56:00I don't think that big best ball is necessarily wrong.
56:03Uh, to, to have loved Keaton Mitchell as a, an interesting best ball option.
56:08Certainly not a season long play because we, we've seen it with Mike McDaniel offenses, being able to support two running backs with Raheem Mostert and Devin HN.
56:16Obviously that has been the hope of all hopes for Keaton Mitchell bulls and then seeing him in the preseason actually involved in the passing game.
56:24That was the biggest like reason to not be a believer in Keaton Mitchell was the lack of passing game involvement.
56:31So then to see that in the preseason, pretty, you know, uh, give some hope to people who, uh, overdraft Keaton Mitchell quite a bit in best ball.
56:40But with all of that said, and I'll also add, I'm not the biggest believer in Omari Hampton being like a great NFL running back.
56:48Like, I, I'm not sure, not sure about the talent yet at this point.
56:52I think it could be there, but we know that he at least has breakaway speed.
56:57And I think in this matchup with, with the fully off, uh, fully healthy offensive line against the Cardinals, I think he's
57:04going to be able to hit the hole and just break off some, some long run.
57:09So fully with you on loving Omari Hampton in this matchup.
57:12Uh, even though I don't love the Keaton Mitchell slander, um, especially after what we just saw what happened to, uh, to Ferguson last night.
57:20I mean, come on attacking, attacking best ball, bros while we're down.
57:24That's just for, Hey, I had my Terrence Ferguson bags packed.
57:27He was, he was in my redraft, uh, draft guide.
57:30I was suffering along with everybody else on Terrence Ferguson.
57:33I get it with Keaton Mitchell in terms, this is neither here nor there for the show, but yeah, when in a
57:40best ball format where you don't have to predict the weeks when he's going to take a screen 40 yards to the
57:47house as one of his five touches, that sounds great.
57:50Actually. Yeah. I like, I get the appeal there, but I think, yeah, it's like very much jumped the shark, uh, in
57:57terms of affecting our thoughts about Omari and Hampton.
58:00So I agree with you about it, not affecting my thoughts on Omar and Hampton.
58:05I think Omari happens. Uh, fantastic. I don't know if I'll play Keaton Mitchell, uh, on, on Sunday, but I'm at least
58:12like, I'm, I'm slightly tempted to play just in case, just in case this is the game that we find out that Keaton Mitchell is a real thing.
58:20And it's the perfect matchup. Just like if, if Mike McDaniel does want to show off a little bit, like here's what
58:27I can do with these running backs. I mean, this is just elite, elite spot with the matchup with, uh, the offensive line being healthy.
58:35Um, I don't know. I think there's slightly slight appeal for, for the largest field GPPs, but I'm also, I play the largest field GPPs.
58:43So I, I have to think very outside the box sometimes.
58:46And I like running back twos better than most do for the largest field GPPs.
58:51Um, so I'm, I'll just say that I'm not completely opposed to playing Keith Mitchell.
58:56I'm also not completely opposed to playing them together.
58:58Um, but, but that's a lot more interest. We don't need to go in depth on, on Keith Mitchell because we both
59:05just have a ton of interest in Omar and Hampton in this matchup.
59:09He's, uh, yeah, should, should get plenty of looks and should be able to take advantage of it.
59:15And especially with, with the fully healthy offensive line.
59:18Um, but let, let's move on because I think that we are, are in agreement on that one.
59:23That's pretty clear. I think it gets a lot tougher, honestly.
59:27Like that was the one that is like, this is, this is kind of a gimme to me.
59:32Um, I'm sort of curious if you have any interest in either of the Pittsburgh running backs, Rico Dowdle or Jalen Warren,
59:39uh, nice matchup with Atlanta, but I think that's, it's been a tough one for me throughout, throughout the off season to
59:46try to figure out who, who do we really prefer between?
59:50I think they're both like pretty talented running backs.
59:52Warren, I expect to be more involved in the passing game.
59:56Um, but I'm curious where you stand, uh, especially for this game in particular on Warren and Dowdle as potential place.
60:02I think it's interesting. Uh, I don't know that I'm getting there in anything like smaller than a 20 max or something like that.
60:10Uh, like I, if I was doing three lineups, I don't think I would have a Steelers running back, but yeah.
60:16Uh, with Cooper rush coming in, uh, as the starter a couple of days before it's real tempting to say, Hey, why
60:23don't I just stack up a Steelers running back with Steelers DST?
60:27Um, in terms of which one it would be, I I've also like struggled on that this off season, Jalen Warren, I'm
60:34a big fan of, I have thought that he's much better than every NFL head coach he's ever had has thought he was.
60:41Uh, he is like top three and miss tackles force per touch over the last five seasons.
60:46Uh, and, and always is like at the top of the league in kind of the nerdy running back stats that we
60:53all wish mattered more than they actually do. Uh, so I like at heart, I'm a Jalen Warren guy, but ultimately when
61:00I look at this, I say, all right, Rico Dowdle has at some point in each of the last two seasons been
61:07installed as an every down bell cow by two different head coaches in the NFL.
61:12And one of them, he plays for again. Now Mike McCarthy, uh, of course that required like Ezekiel Elliott, who was extremely
61:19washed and played for way too long, uh, like missing a meeting.
61:22But once it happened, it was like, Oh wow.
61:25Rico Dowdle is a revelation here. Right? So I do think if there, if one of the two of them is just
61:32surprisingly a 70% snap share guy in week one, it is probably Dowdle.
61:36So if I'm picking between them, he's who I would go with.
61:40Um, but yeah, I think, I think there are other running backs that I'm more interested in getting different with.
61:46All right. Well, we'll call that one a miss on my, my guessing game.
61:50Um, all right. I feel like this one, you may have already mentioned, uh, some interest in Travis CTN, uh, for, for the saints.
61:58Do you have, do you have any interest in ETN?
62:01Not really. I guess you mentioned him as a reason to not like Shuck as much.
62:06So maybe I just inferred that maybe you had interest there.
62:09Um, but no, no, no interest in 5,905%, you know, seems reasonable, but not, uh, not one of your place.
62:16Yeah. Not, not one of my guys. I don't think, I don't think Travis it's Travis H and by the way, everyone's
62:23going to tell me in the comments that I'm saying his name wrong for saying it's Travis H and he insists it's
62:29Travis H and I, this has been one of my like pet peeve things.
62:34The entire off season is no matter which way I say it, people tell me I'm wrong.
62:39So we're going with it's Travis H and, uh, I don't think he's that great of a play.
62:45I have been like a Travis H and hater for a long time.
62:49Uh, I guess my like biggest issue with him in this spot would be, I think people see him as like more
62:56of a pass catcher than he actually might be.
62:59Uh, even with, uh, is Alvin Kamara out? I think he is, uh, or at least very limited.
63:04Positive. Oh, okay. So either regardless of whether Alvin Kamara plays or not, uh, I don't see Travis H and as a
63:11big pass catcher, which matters to me when the saints are seven point underdogs.
63:15Uh, so much of his pass catching last year was like the Liam Cohen screen game, uh, kind of scam that he runs for all of his backfields.
63:24He did it for Bucky Irving back in 2024 as well.
63:28Um, and Kellen Moore is the opposite of that.
63:30He really doesn't design screens to his running backs whatsoever.
63:33Uh, even going back to guys like, uh, Tony Pollard, um, even Austin Eckler saw like a big dip in his target
63:40share when he played for Kellen Moore. It's like a pretty durable trend trend that I think is real.
63:46So yeah, HN has been like a fade for me across most formats this year.
63:51All right. Another, another miss. Let me, let me, let me see if I can get back on track here.
63:57I feel like, uh, so one that I don't even know if, uh, I think you'll like him necessarily, but I need
64:04to get your thoughts on because we thought he was going to be super chalky.
64:09At least I thought he was going to be super chalky at one point.
64:13Marshawn Lloyd coming in at like virtually no ownership.
64:16I think because we now have some concern about, is it going to be a split backfield with Caleb Johnson, but he's
64:234,800 getting the start could be the bell cow.
64:26We, we don't know for sure. Um, do you have any interest in, in taking a shot on Marshawn?
64:32Marshawn Lloyd against the Vikings. Marshawn Lloyd has been such a moving target the last couple of weeks.
64:37Like I feel like I've had to readjust my take and like how I approach him so many different times because I,
64:44I have just been wrong about how everyone else would view him at like every point in time.
64:50Uh, yeah, initially when we got into the week, I started writing up Marshawn Lloyd in terms of, uh, I don't think
64:57he's going to be this bell cow that people might want or expect.
65:01Uh, I think the, we talked about earlier, Brian Flores and the Vikings, a very blitz heavy defense.
65:06Uh, that could be a problem in terms of just snaps for Marshawn Lloyd.
65:11Uh, I don't know that they trust him in pass pro Chris Brooks.
65:15I think they do trust in pass pro. So that could just be fewer snaps for Lloyd off the top there.
65:21Uh, but then, yeah, I, I look at like single digit ownership for a player that, I mean, say what you want
65:28about him in terms of, he's never been able to stay healthy enough to actually get onto an NFL football field until now in college.
65:36He was a really exciting per touch prospect at the very least, uh, like top upper percentiles in yards after contact and
65:43all of the like nerdy running back stats. Right.
65:46So there's at least like some juice here to me.
65:49Uh, I, I, the Vikings also were one of the biggest run funnel defenses last year.
65:54I mean, we, we just talked about how we think the Packers can lean more and more into the past.
66:00And I think that would be bad for Lloyd if that were the case, uh, because he doesn't have much of like a pass catching resume.
66:08But if it is like same old, same old Matt LaFleur, I mean, they, they gave Emmanuel Wilson 28 carries the last time that Josh Jacobs was out.
66:17And he, um, I assume broke the slate where, with where he was priced in, in that game.
66:22So it, yeah, at 4% and like, I think he's clearly the best, like cheap running back play.
66:28Uh, so yeah, I can't really, I, I I'm with you.
66:31I was ready to like, come on here on, uh, yeah, on Saturday and say, Oh, 20% Marshawn Lloyd ownership.
66:38That's ridiculous. This guy is not nearly as good as people think, but like, like, yeah, I can't really get too mad about it here.
66:46I think he's a pretty decent play. Yeah. 4% seems, seems very fair for Marshawn Lloyd because he, he's a mystery box.
66:52Like we, we think he might be really talented and he might get big opportunity, or he could be just kind of a mediocre running back.
67:00In a split backfield. Uh, we just, there's a wide range of outcomes.
67:05So it's really ownership dependent with a player like Lloyd, where it's just like, uh, okay, I'll lean into the chaos.
67:11So if he's getting a lot of ownership, I'm going to lean into the chaos and not play a lot.
67:17But since he's only getting 4%, I'll lean into it the other way.
67:21And I'll, I'm happy to get overweight on Marshawn Lloyd.
67:25Um, who, who, who else would, do you have any other names that you want to throw out there?
67:30I guess I, I have a couple more, um, that I'd like your opinions on.
67:35Um, Bucky Irving against Cincinnati kind of stands out at 5,700.
67:39Sean Tucker is, uh, not going to play in this game or is at least doubtful.
67:44Um, which I think, I don't know how much Sean Tucker we're expecting to affect Bucky Irving, but the fact that it's
67:50just a, a two way split instead of a three way split, um, with a running back as talented as Bucky Irving, somewhat interested me at 5,700.
67:59Do you have any interest there? I mean, it, it, Tucker being out at least clarifies that it won't be him getting
68:06the goal line touches, which is what we saw at the end of last season.
68:10Uh, just making Irving like really rough for fantasy where he was getting, uh, destroyed at the goal line by Sean Tucker
68:17destroyed in the passing game by Rashad White. Uh, yeah, at, at worst, it's two ways now.
68:23I do think like there, it's not out of the question to me that Kenneth Gainwell is the one getting the goal line touches.
68:30Uh, I don't think it's like the most likely, but it's possible.
68:34Like he won the goal line role over Jalen Warren toward the end of last season.
68:39So I don't want to like rule that out, but yeah, I think at 9%, Bucky Irving is defensible.
68:45I can see it in this game environment. Um, I think what I like more though is that, yeah, the other running
68:52back in this game, Chase Brown, uh, at 10% ownership, I think is just, I, he's more expensive than Bucky Irving, but
68:59I would just much rather play it through Brown.
69:01Uh, because last year in games that Joe Burrow started, Brown averaged 21.7 expected fantasy points per game.
69:07Um, that's the most of any slate eligible running back this, this week, like the best workload, uh, top six in target
69:14share top five and draft Kings fantasy points per game in that split.
69:18The Buccaneers are this underneath funnel defense. Uh, they've allowed the second most receiving fantasy points per game to running backs last year.
69:25I think people look at them as like a tough matchup on the ground, which is true.
69:30But for Chase Brown, the upside really is through the air, uh, through the fact that he's a tough matchup on the ground.
69:38That he is like a notable red zone target for Joe Burrow.
69:41I think you can play him in Burrow stacks kind of mix and match with Jamar Chase T Higgins.
69:47I think you can play him alone, uh, as like a way to get a little bit more contrarian, uh, as like an expensive running back.
69:55Yeah. He's like a really fun play to me.
69:58I, I was, I, I ranked him at the one, two turn and redraft this year.
70:03I'm a big, uh, chase Brown believer for fantasy.
70:06I think he's while he's not like as talented of a running back is like all these other guys that we talk
70:13about drafting in round one and round two of fantasy football drafts that has basically never mattered as long as he's played with Joe Burrow.
70:21So I think people massively over-focus, uh, on that aspect with Brown.
70:24And if he's getting overlooked on this slate, I want, I want to have some of them.
70:30Um, okay. And you say you're willing to play him with Joe Burrow.
70:34Yeah. My, I guess my, my biggest reason for not being excited about Brown is treating it like this is just a
70:41total pass funnel defense with, with Vita Veya there.
70:43Um, I don't know. I don't know if you, uh, I feel like Scott is not the biggest Vita Veya guy.
70:50Like he's not a big believer in, in Vita Veya as a, I could be wrong, but I might be misremembering.
70:57And I feel like Scott may have, uh, had that opinion at one point.
71:01Um, do you have any concerns about just the, the Tampa Bay defense being more of a pass funnel and that kind of affecting Brown?
71:09I, I think, as I said, I think it's just fine for him because his upside really is accessed via the air
71:16and via catching a touchdown or two from Joe Burrow.
71:19Uh, I don't know. Chase Brown's like never an efficient runner.
71:22That's like not really what I'm signing up for.
71:25And what I'm trying to get when I'm playing Chase Brown, I'm, I'm just in almost like a Christian McCaffrey ask sense.
71:32I'm just looking for the, an amazing workload on one of the best offenses in the NFL.
71:37Like I think rushing efficiency is massively overrated for fantasy.
71:40It's massively overrated in terms of like importance in real NFL football.
71:44And Brown just has the role to where I'm fine playing him into that matchup.
71:49And, and yeah, as I said, like all of the, like the Buccaneers defense just operates.
71:54Yeah. They, they don't want you to run on them.
71:57But you can pass short on them. They're like an underneath funnel as well.
72:01Most receiving yards per game in the NFL within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage last year.
72:07Uh, so plenty of check downs potentially for Chase Brown.
72:10Like I, I, I see this as like a pretty good matchup, honestly.
72:14Okay. Yeah, no, that does make me reconsider. Make me think maybe, maybe I want to play a little bit more Chase Brown.
72:21Um, you can see, you can see why the shows go so long with me and Scott, cause I want your opinion on every single player.
72:29So this one, I'm going to stop asking you about specific players.
72:33There's a couple other names there that I'm like, I could see Ryan potentially having, having interest in these players, but I'm
72:40just going to open it up to you. Are there any other running backs that you have particular interest in on this slate?
72:47Uh, I don't think there's anyone else we like need to talk about.
72:51So we, yeah, we're going pretty long. We can move on to what, to wide receivers and to tight ends.
72:57I think. Okay. Yeah. Let's, let's move on to wide receivers.
73:01And again, looking at the top of the ownership, uh, Jamar chase at 26%, Aminor at 21%, Chris Olave at 21%.
73:07And then kind of a gap down after those three.
73:11So of, of the three wide receivers getting over 20% ownership, any, uh, big targets for you or big fades?
73:17Not really. I think Jamar chase is the one I feel the most confident in, in terms of he, he's just like
73:24very unimpeachable to me where he averages, uh, close to 28 draft Kings fantasy points per game in games above a 50
73:30over under, uh, the last two seasons. So it's like pretty, it's the hardest for me to get off of him.
73:37I should say, uh, St. Brown and Olave definitely both like good plays, good values in a vacuum.
73:43Uh, but both of them are, are more so like the compiler types to me where chase can just like light up a game by himself.
73:51He's like that dynamic of a player. Uh, St.
73:54Brown is an amazing football player. Olave an amazing football player.
73:57I just don't put like either of them quite on that same level.
74:01So yeah, I get, if I were going under on any of those three chase would like be the one I make
74:08sure I have, I have a lot of, um, but yeah, no like particular gripes with any of the three.
74:14Okay. Um, yeah. And I, I think, you know, we, we've got a few more that are above 10%, but we don't
74:21need to be nitpicking through all of the, you know, uh, teen, teen ownership players.
74:26Um, unless are, are there any that we have over, over 10% that you have especially a lot of interest in that
74:33you're going to be targeting quite a bit. So over 10%, we have Trey Tucker, Parker, Washington, Ted, Rowe, McMillan, Jamison Williams,
74:40Quentin Johnston, Justin Jefferson, Garrett Wilson, T Higgins, Ladd McConkie and Zay Flowers.
74:44So rather than going through them one by one, I just want to know, do you, do you have favorites from this group?
74:51Any that you're going to be like substantially overweight relative to, uh, what we're rejecting the ownership to be?
74:57Uh, did you say Jamison Williams? Yep. I think he's a great play.
75:01Uh, this is in this game. You're going to have a ton of ownership, uh, on Alman Ross St.
75:07Brown. You're going to have obviously a ton of ownership on Gibbs, a ton on Olave, uh, a lot of people playing Jared Goff.
75:14Jamison Williams is kind of the forgotten man here.
75:17And that, that could just be like a massive mistake.
75:20Uh, he, he's like the most GPP friendly wide receiver ever where he just has this very downfield role, boomer bust, uh, better in best ball.
75:28However, you won't kind of want to put it.
75:31And the matchup is really enticing for him from a schematic perspective.
75:35Uh, the saints over their last 10 games near the top of the NFL in cover three and in single high looks in general.
75:42And that's like a 47% target per out run boost for Jamison Williams going up against single high, uh, which we will
75:49typically see for a lot of like the outside deep threat receivers that just tends to be a bit easier of a coverage for them to beat.
75:58Uh, yeah, at 27% more efficient against cover three, uh, for Jamison Williams.
76:02I think he's a great play. Uh, and kind of, yeah, I don't know if this is a, this is like a
76:08scenario where he's like everybody's favorite GPP play because he's like the one lion that has that projects for not like insane ownership.
76:16But I think regardless of that, he's pretty interesting to me.
76:19Yeah, no, I, he's somebody that I have already written down as one of my favorite GPP plays.
76:25So you might be right. He might be one that we, we all love based on the projected ownership.
76:31And then he's going to come in at, you know, 18% and he's going to be like, all right, that's still fine,
76:38but not, not quite the smash that we thought it was, but we can hope, you know, there's a lot of players
76:44out there, uh, with a lot of plays to play.
76:48Um, we, we also had right there. I want your opinion on Quentin Johnson.
76:52I just thought we can skip past most of these, but, uh, kind of the same like, uh, prototype as, as Jameson
76:59Williams being the big, big play threat, uh, in a really strong offense with chalkier teammates, but he's only 4,700.
77:05Um, do you have any interest in, in QJ?
77:08So I want to be the QJ hater, uh, cause for those that aren't aware of me and Scott Barrett have been having this argument all summer.
77:16Uh, I'm the lad McConkie guy. I wrote an entire article where lad became the face of it.
77:22And he's very much been like attached to me, like brand wise as a player, uh, because I said he could become
77:29the next Jackson Smith and Jigba, uh, with the heavier personnel, uh, the two wide receiver sets that Mike McDaniel is going
77:36to introduce into the chargers offense, uh, just massively increasing per route efficiency for all the wide receivers that are still on
77:42the field, uh, that are competing for targets. Against blocking tight ends against fullbacks.
77:47Uh, that's like a big trend in the NFL going into this year as a lot of teams are going to be
77:54experimenting more with the heavy personnel looks. I think lad, uh, from a season long perspective and this week could be a big beneficiary of that.
78:02Uh, Quentin Johnston, like I can't argue that hard against it at 4,900, uh, because of everything I just said, I think he's clearly the double stack partner.
78:11If you're playing Justin Herbert with lad, I think it almost has to be, uh, QJ lad Herbert, uh, just because kind
78:17of the whole idea for why these guys could be so efficient is there's going to be this like gross rotation between
78:24Trey Harris and Charlie Kohler, uh, who best who big best ball also has tried to make us care about.
78:31Uh, it's, it's all the chargers this year is I've, what I've noticed, uh, with Alec Ingold fullback, like the, the idea
78:37is that this offense in practice should be very condensed between McConkie and QJ because everyone else is like not really a
78:44pass catcher is just kind of there to pass block.
78:47Uh, so yeah, QJ at his price, I think is a really good play.
78:52I wouldn't play him over lad if I'm looking for a one-off.
78:56I think there are some other kind of in the 5k range of wide receivers, uh, around him that are also really interesting.
79:03So I, I like, I don't think you have to go to QJ if you're just looking for like a one-off to pay down.
79:10Um, but yeah, I, I can't really poke that many holes in him.
79:14Uh, at least this week, I'm, I'm sure throughout the season, this might be a war that, uh, I, that we're fighting every, every single week.
79:22Uh, so I'm not the biggest QJ guy. I do just like from just, just this week, you know, being, being 4,700.
79:29Um, yeah, I think QJ at least has, like, like you said, kind of the, the profile of somebody who is kind of boom bust.
79:37He's going to have his weeks certainly could happen, uh, in this matchup with the Cardinals.
79:42So I have a little bit of interest in QJ this week, but he's also 11%.
79:47So not, not exactly a huge target of mine.
79:50Um, just given that, um, but let's, let's move on to some of the, I mean, I know that you want to talk about the Packers guys.
79:58So let's just go there because we talked about Christian Watson, Jaden Reed.
80:02You mentioned being your stacking partners, um, with Jordan love.
80:05Can you, can you tell me why you prefer those two and not Jacob Sanderson's favorite Matthew golden?
80:11Uh, shout out Jacob Sanderson. Love Jacob. Uh, love doing content with him.
80:15What? Yeah. One of my favorite people in the industry to talk to and to argue with.
80:20Uh, and I think Jacob would say, would like want me to say, he's not really that big of a Matthew golden guy either.
80:28I think Jacob feels forced into being a Matthew golden guy just because the whole industry has kind of taken on my
80:35way of thinking, which is like Matthew golden is a prospect who has, I forget the exact stat that I used to
80:42throw out all the time, but he's never been above like a 17% target per outrun rate.
80:47Let's just say, uh, at any point in his college career, in his NFL career, he's just not a target earner.
80:54This is what all of us spreadsheet dorks talk about is players who earn targets at one level of football are probably
81:00going to continue earning targets, uh, when they move on to the NFL, when they move on to a different team, uh,
81:07when they have other target competition, earning targets is a skill.
81:11And Matthew golden just has never done that in his career at any point.
81:15And he's next to Christian Watson and Jaden Reed, who at least on a per route basis are two of the more
81:22efficient receivers in the league over the past three years.
81:25Uh, Christian Watson in games that he's played above a 70% route share averages something close to 17 draft Kings fantasy points
81:32per game, uh, like top 12 wide receiver levels of production.
81:35Uh, Jaden Reed, not that far off. You can do a similar stat with him.
81:40Basically the reason that these guys haven't been amazing fantasy assets in the past is what you mentioned earlier, Neil is there's
81:47just always been this obnoxious wide receiver rotation in green Bay.
81:50Matt Lafleur was obsessed with, of course, Romeo Dobbs would just not rotate and play every down.
81:56And we would rotate through Don Tavian wicks. We would get Malik Heath.
82:00We would get Savion Williams. Like no, nobody asked for any of these guys to just come in and take 30 to
82:0740% of routes off the top of the players that are actually good that we actually want to play in fantasy and care about.
82:14And this year it's from Lafleur's mouth all going all the way back to may.
82:19Uh, basically once Dobbs and wicks got shipped out, he was like, yeah, this is, we aren't going to rotate as much anymore.
82:26Uh, it's going to be much easier to get touches to our top guys.
82:30Now I'm excited about that. Uh, the most recent clip out from him was saying he really wants to, uh, have his,
82:37his big three, uh, play as much as possible.
82:40Uh, I don't actually know if he has Tucker craft or Matthew golden in the big three.
82:45I know Watson and read are though. Uh, so yeah, with that, I just want to take advantage of like possibly the
82:52first time both of these guys can just be projected for something close to a full-time route share week after week.
82:59Uh, I think Matthew golden is like, I, I don't know.
83:02I, this is a hundred percent like a player bias thing for me.
83:06I will be honest. I have not thought that much about Matthew golden this week.
83:11I couldn't tell you what his price is off the dome.
83:14I, yeah, maybe, maybe it is him. Maybe he's the one, uh, or one of the two guys that you want to
83:21stack up, but I'm just such a big Christian Watson guy, uh, such a big believer in the matchup for Jaden Reed,
83:28as I mentioned earlier, where he's been so much more efficient against the blitz.
83:33He has easily led the Packers and targets per outrun against two high looks.
83:37Uh, I, I just really prefer those two, uh, if I'm stacking the Packers.
83:41Okay. I think that's reasonable, uh, to just pick your favorites of the Packers wide receivers.
83:46And those two do, do seem like the safer bets of the Packers receivers.
83:51Um, I brought up earlier, Chris Godwin being a target of mine because I think DJ Turner is going to be shadowing Amika Agbuka.
83:58Uh, so then Godwin and already in the slot, we've seen Godwin just, just dominate also kind of love taking, uh, older
84:05players earlier in the season before they, you know, what, while they're still pretty fresh.
84:10So Godwin to me stands out as a target at 5,200 7% ownership.
84:14Do you have any interest there? I have a ton of interest.
84:17Uh, I think I said earlier that I originally wrote up Jalen McMillan for like similar reasons because DJ Turner is going to shadow Amika Ibuka.
84:26Uh, we're like very conservative with our shadow projections at fantasy points.
84:29I think it's a, I think individual wide receiver versus cornerback matchups are a little bit overrated around the industry.
84:36It's very rare that guys are actually getting shadowed.
84:38Uh, this is the one that we're projecting this week and it really matters.
84:43DJ Turner has been absolutely locked down. Uh, no wide receiver has exceeded.
84:47I want to say it was 12 DraftKings fantasy points.
84:50I get a wall lined up across from him at any point last season.
84:54Uh, no one over 45 receiving yards in his primary coverage.
84:58Uh, he played amazing. He's probably going to shadow Amika Ibuka.
85:01And even before all of that, uh, Chris Godwin coming into the year, I think was extremely underrated and people were way
85:08too quick to crown Ibuka as like the number one receiver in this offense.
85:12Godwin, uh, for those who don't remember was a top three fantasy wide receiver through the first like six games of 2024,
85:19uh, playing in that Liam Cohen offense, getting all of the screens, uh, just being a total fantasy superstar before he snapped
85:26his fibula, dislocated his ankle and that's an injury that we have seen players around the NFL be very slow to come
85:33back from, uh, or not slow to come back from.
85:36They come back pretty quickly usually, but they're much less effective for up to a year afterwards.
85:41We saw this with Tony Pollard a couple of years ago, uh, when he was finally the starter in Dallas, he was
85:48like a round two fantasy pick and people got very excited about him.
85:52And then he had like his least efficient season that he's ever had in the NFL, uh, coming off of a fibula injury.
86:00We saw it with Mark Andrews. Uh, there like, we have so many examples of this, of guys taking an extra year to get back from this injury.
86:08So I think Chris Godwin has been written off as old and washed.
86:12Uh, and I think that might, there's a very good chance that that's just wrong.
86:17Uh, that he is actually at least very close to a Buka in terms of the target pecking order in this offense.
86:24Uh, this matchup works perfectly for him in that the Bengals last year would funnel everything close to the line of scrimmage
86:31top three and receiving yards per game allowed in, uh, within 10 yards.
86:35Uh, that's very much going to be Chris Godwin.
86:38He, uh, led all Buccaneers wide receivers in target share within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage.
86:43Uh, their new offensive coordinator is Zach Robinson, who is like best friends with Liam Cohen, uh, him and Baker Mayfield and
86:50Godwin have all said that the offense is going to be like 50% the same as when, uh, Godwin was a fantasy
86:57wide receiver one getting all of that volume from Cohen.
87:00I love Godwin this week. I was ready to come on here and tout McMillan with like that same exuberance.
87:06But yeah, I, I really think the answer is just Chris Godwin as the bring back you want the cheap wide receiver you want.
87:14Uh, and yeah, for all the reasons you laid out as well, I think is a great play.
87:20Love it. So same, same page on Godwin. I think there are so many wide receivers that, uh, I don't think we
87:26should play the guessing game with, with wide receivers.
87:29I think it'd be better if we just, I'm just going to open it up to you early on here.
87:35Um, cause I Godwin and the Packers guys, those are really the receivers that I have a lot of interest in that
87:42I wanted to hear your opinions on, but there's a ton of, of wide receivers to consider on this slate.
87:49Who are some of your big targets that are not getting a ton of ownership?
87:53Yeah. So many guys that you can potentially make arguments for.
87:57I wrote up a lot of wide receivers in my advanced matchups piece that people can go read if they want every single one of them.
88:05Uh, all I'll give out one here that I am interested in your take on based on what you said about Daniel Jones earlier.
88:12Uh, Josh Downs is really interesting to me this week.
88:15Uh, I had him at, when I wrote this, I had him at 4% ownership.
88:20I don't know if that has since moved up.
88:23Uh, it, it should, but we get Josh Downs here where he over his career in games that he's been above a
88:3066% snap share has been just a top 10 wide receiver by targets per game, by fantasy points per game.
88:36He's one of the best target earners in the NFL.
88:39Uh, that hasn't always shown through because he was for so long locked into only three receiver sets in the Colts offense
88:46with Michael Pittman, with Alec Pierce, with Tyler Warren.
88:49Uh, they just played like less 11 personnel, less three receiver sets in general last year.
88:54It was just like a worst possible kind of scenario for him.
88:58But now we flip over into 2026. Michael Pittman is gone.
89:01Alec Pierce has barely practiced all summer, uh, rehabbing an ankle injury, our injury expert at fantasy points, Jeff Muller, who's like
89:08the best injury expert, uh, in the fantasy industry.
89:11In my opinion, I thought that even before we hired him always been a huge fan of his work.
89:17Uh, Jeff believes that Pierce's injury could really limit his explosiveness, especially early in the year.
89:22And we get downs up against this Ravens defense, uh, called by Jesse Minner, the former Chargers defensive coordinator, where the hallmark
89:28of his defense was a ton of two high looks and a ton of cover four.
89:33And those are just two of the best looks, two of the best shells for Josh Downs.
89:39Uh, over the last two seasons, there are only three wide receivers that have a higher target per out run rate against too high than downs.
89:47Their names are Aminra, St. Brown, Puka Nakua, and Drake London.
89:50I think downs at 5,200 could just be walking into a massive target share.
89:55Uh, we of course need Daniel Jones to be somewhat competent for this to work, but Hey, downs has done it with
90:02fricking Anthony Richardson with like wash Joe Flacco. We used to get so excited to play Josh downs with old Joe Flacco a couple of years back.
90:10Like I, I just think this could be a moment where people open their eyes to how good Josh downs actually is.
90:17Uh, week one's so fun like this because we're like, we bring our off season player takes so heavily into week one
90:24of DFS and we find out who's right. But yeah, I want to find out who's right.
90:29I want to find out that I'm right on Josh downs this week.
90:33I feel like this is the perfect encapsulation of why you are such a perfect replacement for Scott, because this is something
90:40you're asking me for my opinion on it, but you're, we're getting to micro matchup stuff.
90:45That is certainly not my bread and butter. This is not my strongest suit, but it clearly is something that you spend
90:52a ton of time digging through the stats, trying to find the best micro matchups and Josh downs.
90:57I mean the situation. So I I've kind of gone back and forth on it all off season with downs because like,
91:04yeah, like I thought he's clearly going to be in a great spot and then they signed Keenan Allen.
91:10I'm like, well, that's probably going to cut some of his, you know, slot usage, some of his underneath stuff a little bit.
91:17And then out Pierce comes back and I'm like, well, I don't know what that's going to do.
91:23Like it was, I don't know to what extent out, uh, out Pierce affects him, but it's certainly not a positive to add out Pierce to the room.
91:32Um, but I, but I think that you're right that it's just, you know, they, they lose Michael Pittman and downs should
91:39have more opportunities and yeah, if it's a strong micro matchup, uh, and also just looking at that player page, that's, it's
91:46so neat that that helps guys like me who are not historically great at looking at the, the micro matchups and figuring
91:52stuff out like this certainly helps to have, have the player page kind of show you that this could be a matchup,
91:59uh, that is exploitable for Josh downs. So I love that.
92:03Yeah. If he's going to be that, that's kind of that, you know, I love to exploit in DFS, even though I'm
92:10not the guy who's usually doing the deep research like this.
92:13I'm reading that kind of stuff from guys like you to find those places where it's like, okay, he's going to be
92:20under owned because it's not the best macro spot.
92:23I mean, the, the Ravens defense, pretty strong defense we think overall, so it doesn't stand out as a great macro spot,
92:30but then you can find the little micro edges.
92:32Um, and that's, that's really where Scott, you know, has shined historically.
92:36And, and I think that you're going to also.
92:39So yeah, I love the call out of Josh downs as somebody that I hadn't really thought about, but yeah, I'm in, I'm buying in for Josh downs.
92:48Who else you got? Ooh. Okay. Other than Josh downs there, there, there are like 10 wide receivers that I could make
92:55like a really full throated argument for that are going to be really low owned.
92:59Uh, so how about, why don't we talk about, why don't we talk about Nico Collins?
93:04This is kind of a, I'm we'll see how much I talk myself into this, uh, over, over the course of this conversation.
93:11Uh, I, I have been like really scared of Nico Collins historically, uh, or over like the last year or so, I
93:18should say, just because, uh, the, the Texans are total boomers.
93:22Uh, like they will not create like an offensive environment for Nico Collins to thrive, who every film guy says it is
93:29easily like a top eight wide receiver in the NFL.
93:32Some will probably go even higher than that. I'm not a film guy.
93:36I'm a numbers guy, but Collins is viewed as like this insanely special talent.
93:40That's just kind of rotting away on this, uh, on this team that has this elite defense, uh, that never is really forced to drop back a ton.
93:49Uh, but we come into this season, Jaden Higgins, uh, tears his ACL is not going to play this year.
93:55Uh, so very likely the Texans base set this year is going to be Nico Collins on one side, uh, either Xavier
94:02Hutchinson or K Sean booty on the other side, both of whom combined for like, below a 14% target per hour run in their career.
94:10These guys are like total cardboard cutout, like nothing target earners, right?
94:14Uh, Dalton Schultz, and then like a blocking tight end, maybe, maybe, uh, Marlon Klein, right?
94:19They're probably going to play a lot of 12 personnel, that heavy personnel cheat code I was talking about with lad McConkie.
94:25And we get into this week one matchup against the bills.
94:29This could be one of the only times the Texans are really pushed, uh, to actually have to drop back, right?
94:35If certainly if anybody can kind of crack this Texans defense, it would be Josh Allen.
94:40Uh, Nico in the five games that the Texans dropped back 40 or more times average, just under 20 draft Kings fantasy points per game.
94:48Uh, nobody is going to play him at least relative to the other guys at the top, the Jamar chases, the Amonara St.
94:55Browns, Chris Olavez, uh, and their new play caller, uh, Jim Leonard comes over from the Broncos, uh, per the athletic, the
95:02bills are just, he's just completely changing their defensive scheme.
95:05They're going from, I forget which it is a three, four to a four, three or vice versa.
95:11Uh, and we expect them to be more of like an aggressive blitz heavy defense.
95:16That's what the Broncos have done the last couple of years, top five in the NFL and blitz rate.
95:22Uh, and Nico Collins leads all wide receivers in yards per hour run against the blitz over his last 10 games over four yards per hour run.
95:30Uh, it's just very uncertain because we really don't know what this bills defense is going to look like.
95:36Uh, we, we don't know what this Texans offense is going to look like.
95:40Frankly, it's like a huge, like uncertainty play, but Collins is like such an amazing player that I like haven't been able
95:47to get my mind kind of off of this.
95:50I don't know how he like fits into builds, uh, or anything like that.
95:54Just like with where he's priced up. But yeah, I just thought like something worth mentioning.
95:59Well, what was the ownership on Nico Collins? Cause that's obviously a big, a big factor.
96:04Drake, can you put that back on the screen?
96:079%? Okay. Yeah. I'm showing 9%. All right. That seems, that seems reasonable to me.
96:12I guess I, I, um, there's one where there is kind of a wide range of outcomes to me, but yeah, I
96:19don't, I don't hate the idea of playing some Nico Collins at 9%.
96:23Uh, that's an interesting one. Any other wide receivers that you feel, uh, feel the need to call out cause you have
96:30special interest in them before we move on. I think that's good.
96:33I think we can move on to tight ends.
96:36All right. Yeah. Let's, let's move on to tight ends and a interesting, uh, chalk that has just arisen, uh, since surprise
96:43surgery for Brock Bowers, uh, two days ago or whatever it was when we suddenly have, uh, the meniscus getting trimmed on
96:50Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer stepping in at 2,900 great matchup with Miami, 21% projected ownership.
96:55So it all starts there. What are we doing with Michael Mayer?
96:59Are you just eating the chalk or is this a fade spot for you?
97:03You tell, you tell me Neil, because like from my perspective, just breaking down this play, looking at the point per dollar
97:10projection, which is just absurdly in favor of Michael Mayer here, 3.9 points per dollar.
97:15Uh, and looking at Mayer's history without Brock Bowers, he's been, uh, averaging right around 10 DraftKings fantasy points per game, uh,
97:22in, I think it was four games without Bowers last year over the last two years in games when he's been over
97:28two thirds of the routes, uh, basically the same average, uh, has been tied or ahead of Trey Tucker for the target
97:35lead in five out of seven games that he's played that much.
97:39Uh, I, I like don't see a way to like get around Michael Mayer this week.
97:44Uh, it's, I know it's supposed to be outside the box, but I'm just, I'm just very inside the box with Michael Mayer this week.
97:52I don't kind of don't know. Yeah. What, what to say or how to, to get around it other than like, LOL,
97:59you should always fade the chalk tight end, the chalk tight end never works.
98:03But I, I like on a slate where we've talked about all these high price guys that we want to play.
98:10I feel like Mayer's like very, uh, is just very needed to kind of get to some of these more fun plays.
98:16And he has upside in and of himself. Like I, I was just saying 10 DraftKings fantasy points per game, but that,
98:23that could be way more if this offense is actually competent, which it hasn't been over the amount of time that that sample, uh, was collected.
98:31Uh, if like, if Kubiak makes this operation at anything, even like just not bottom one, then that that's like an amazing play to me.
98:39Yeah. I mean, Michael Mayer, I think is just good chalk, especially at 21%.
98:44If he, if he were 40%, you know, then I'd say, all right, we're fading that we're, we're going to just play
98:51the field and just assume that he's going to be going to miss or, you know, put up under 10 points.
98:57Cause like there, there are ways that he could be fine.
99:01Like, like you said, 10 fantasy points that still, there is, there is opportunity costs with a, with a tight end.
99:07It puts up 10 fantasy points, even at 2900, there's only two spots that you can play him.
99:13And there are, there's a potential that you have a bunch of running backs going off.
99:18So that takes out the flex and then just, you just need one other tight end to crush.
99:23And suddenly you're, you're wishing that you didn't have him.
99:26So it can miss, but a 21%, like, I think that's a pretty good bet to make.
99:32Um, I could also tell you a story of, of just last year.
99:36I was a Michael Mayer was, was chalk on a slate without Brock Bowers.
99:40And I had a co-host on, on a show who convinced me that I should be playing some, uh, was it Elijah
99:47Higgins backup tight end for the Arizona Cardinals. And, uh, and so I, I split my, I split my tight end, my
99:54min price tight end exploded between Michael Mayer and Elijah Higgins.
99:57And it cost me $50,000 on that slate. I'm not going to name who that co-host was who convinced me to play
100:04Elijah Higgins, but that, that is the danger of fading a good chalk play like, like Michael Mayer, uh, jokes aside that my, my own decision.
100:12I don't, I don't play my co-host. He just made a very convincing argument and I thought it was a good one.
100:19The Cardinals just for, for some reason went from playing all the Elijah Higgins to just kind of benching him, uh, as,
100:26as going back to the status quo. So no idea what happened there, but yeah, Michael Mayer, good, good play.
100:32Um, I'm with you on it. Um, I want to say, I remember that Elijah Higgins debacle.
100:38Uh, I, I used to listen to outside the box, like when, when I was in my car driving around on Saturdays
100:44and I, I like, I, I like almost hit somebody when I, I was so shocked to hear Elijah Higgins come out of Scott's mouth.
100:52I, I usually like think I know what Scott is going to say on shows just cause like we interface so much
100:59during the week, but that, that one took me so by surprise that, yeah, I, I like vividly remember that.
101:05But it was like, he had run like 70% of the routes or something the week before.
101:11And then it was like, I forget what the reasoning was, but like, it really made sense to me.
101:17Like, I was like, you're making a really good point right now.
101:20Uh, and then it just, just went away for like out of nowhere.
101:24Just, yeah, he was not even involved at all.
101:27Um, there, there are some other interests. I mean, I think Jawan Johnson with, with Jordan Tyson out, Jawan Johnson like was pretty involved last year.
101:35He's getting 11% ownership. Don't hate that Sam Laporta.
101:38I don't know what to make of it. Cause he was, he was injured and it was looking like potential that he
101:45would miss week one, but sounds like he's back.
101:48Um, and then Tyler Warren, did you have, what's your level of interest in, uh, you know, these other tight ends over 10%.
101:55Uh, probably the most interest in Laporta, uh, coming into the year.
101:59He was one of my big, uh, like redraft flag plants, uh, to the extent that I was telling people to draft
102:06tight ends in like the top six. Uh, Laporta was the one I was kind of interested in, in like the middle rounds.
102:13Uh, he's interesting just because Drew Petsing is the new offensive coordinator for the lions.
102:18He's the one that really got the most out of Trey McBride.
102:21Of course, last year, uh, the stat I had coming into the season was that Laporta averaged around 15 DraftKings fantasy points per game.
102:29Uh, just in games, he was above a 70% route share, which Trey McBride had hit, had hit for like 28 straight games under Petsing.
102:37Uh, I do think it could be like a more tight end focused offense.
102:41It is like a very good game environment. Uh, so I, I don't know if like him and Jamison Williams, I think are both like good plays.
102:49Um, but, but yeah, maybe not if he's like the second most popular tight end, but I, yeah, of those three Laportas
102:56who I will probably have the most of. All right.
102:59And then let's, let's just open it up to, I mean, there's, there's a lot of tight ends that you can, you
103:06can kind of make a case for on this slate.
103:09I'm kind of interested in like Colston Loveland at 9%.
103:12Um, uh, obviously you can always play Trey McBride.
103:15I don't know if you like him as, as a bring back, uh, but I'm just going to open it up to you.
103:22Who are the tight ends that stand out to you as favorites on this slate?
103:27Uh, I talked about Goddard earlier. Uh, I do like Colston Loveland, uh, big Colston Loveland fan.
103:32I think his schematic matchup is really strong. We have seen Ben Johnson really attack cover three via the tight end, uh, through all of last season.
103:41He did it with Cole commit. He did it with Colston Loveland.
103:45If you just look at their splits versus cover three, both of them are awesome.
103:49Of course, Loveland is the one that kind of took over the pass catching role at the end of the season.
103:56Uh, when the bears like radically shifted their offense to more multi tight end sets, I expect pretty much the same thing with DJ Morgan.
104:04I think Loveland is very likely to lead the bears in all receiving categories this year.
104:09Uh, so I, yeah, I think at 9% he's intriguing.
104:12Uh, I guess like the most like super off the wall place that I would go to is Dalton Kincaid.
104:18Uh, and I, I feel insane for this a little bit.
104:22Like, will I actually, when it comes down to it on Sunday, am I going to put Dalton Kincaid into my lineups?
104:28We'll find out, but I'm definitely thinking about it.
104:31Uh, he has been like one of the most misdiagnosed like players in fantasy football, I think just cause there's this weird
104:38ambiguity where Kincaid, when he plays or I should say when he's on the field is the most efficient tight end in
104:45the NFL on a per out basis by far over three yards per out run last year.
104:50It was like 40% better than George Kittle, who was the next closest, right?
104:55Uh, in games that he, uh, played just a 45% route share, which is like an insanely low bar.
105:01Like every starting tight end should hit that for the nine games.
105:04He did that last year. He exceeded 17 draft Kings fantasy points, uh, including one or two games in the playoffs, right?
105:11It's just really interesting because Kincaid for like a bunch of like nerdy football guy reasons.
105:16Uh, there are people that will tell you he shouldn't be on the field that much or running that many routes.
105:23Shout out Max Toscano. Uh, you can be like very Toscano pilled on this in that, uh, because Kincaid is only a pass catcher.
105:30Uh, it's just better to have Khalil Shakir on the field.
105:34And that's why Kincaid doesn't play as much. But if you look like through all of the bills coaching, like all of
105:40their comments throughout the off season, it sounds like they really want Dalton Kincaid on the field and he's just been injured, uh, throughout all of last season.
105:49Uh, and he's not on the injury report this week, which is a rarity, right?
105:54Uh, when I, when Kincaid is not on the injury report, he has been a top five tight end, uh, or he's
106:01at least been up at like a 60% route share.
106:04Right. So I just kind of wonder if this is one that everyone massively overthought this off season, everybody's super overlooked Dalton
106:11Kincaid and we come out in week one, he is the healthiest he's been.
106:15He's going to be all season probably. Uh, and, and he, yeah, like hangs a really big draft King score on all our heads.
106:23So he, he's someone that I've not been able to stop thinking about.
106:27Like he doesn't project well whatsoever because yeah, for projections, you have to be a little more conservative toward, uh, like what,
106:34what has happened most recently in terms of playing time, in terms of efficiency, all that.
106:39But yeah, I wonder if he's just like a, an, an efficiency math breaker, uh, that we're all sleeping on.
106:45I actually liked the shout out of Dalton Kincaid.
106:48Yeah. I I'm with you on like, he's probably like more talented than we give him credit for.
106:53And, and much like, you know, we talk, I talked about Chris, Chris Godwin wanting to play the olds while they're still fresh.
107:00I mean, same thing kind of applies to young man, Dalton Kincaid of like, he's, he's healthy like this kind of the same thing applies.
107:08Like this is the time to play him when he is fully healthy, obviously not the best matchup.
107:14Like you, and anybody against Houston, it's, it's a tough bet.
107:17But like you said, with, with Josh Allen, like if anybody can hang points on them, it's, it's the, the bills and
107:24Kincaid as likely as anybody, I think to, to score touchdowns.
107:28Um, so yeah, I like the shout out of Dalton Kincaid at 2% ownership.
107:32Um, let me, so you, I know you're not on the Kohler express with me.
107:37I'm very sad about that, but, uh, did you have any interest in any chargers tight end?
107:42I don't think so. I think I, if I, if you told me, Ryan, close your eyes, are you going to play
107:49a chargers tight end on draft Kings at any point this year?
107:53My guess is it will be a Rondae Gadsden at some point.
107:56I just don't know what the roles are going to be like.
108:00Kohler just has not been a pass catching tight end at the NFL level whatsoever.
108:05Uh, this, I don't know. He's like, I think people are very excited that he's like the starting tight end for the chargers.
108:12Like I understand that, but the, I guess like the, the beat reports or like the information out of chargers camp that
108:19I've been consuming has been more like, yeah, he like he'll play, but I don't know that he's going to be that
108:26involved in the passing game, uh, is where I'm at.
108:29So probably no Kohler for me. Yeah. I mean, it was pretty mixed in what I read.
108:34Um, I, I of course have also heard the counterpoint of he was a pretty good pass catcher in college.
108:40Like he had a pretty good, uh, profile coming into the NFL as a potential pass catcher.
108:46And to me, the reason that I sort of have bought in on Kohler is not, not only is he playing all
108:53the time, but they have targeted him actually pretty early.
108:56And like, you know, they, they just run, you know, one drive with starting offense and he's seen a target on, on that first drive.
109:03So to me, like I have read the beat reporters saying like, no, I'm not really expecting it to be much, but
109:10I kind of wonder if that's more also just like hanging onto priors of like, well, he's never really been a pass
109:17catcher at the NFL level and more so that, but maybe, maybe I need to give the beat, the beat reporters more
109:24credit for what they're seeing in practice. Um, Oh, you shouldn't give the beat reporters any credit.
109:29Honestly, this, I, I don't need to do this whole rant, but yeah, beat, beat reporters.
109:34Uh, I, all of the people in the industry that are beat reporters that I, that I'm friends with that Scott is friends with.
109:42I love you. You're amazing. Uh, but in terms of, should you like let beat reporting in general, especially the stories that
109:49go viral affect your fantasy football decisions? Probably not.
109:52Yeah. So I, I, I might play a little bit of Charlie Kohler.
109:56I'd probably be in, in stacks with, with Herbert.
109:58If I do play him, any other tight ends you want to talk about?
110:03Uh, I don't think so. I think, I think we should just, or yeah, unless you want to talk about defenses, I,
110:10which I will have nothing to add on. We should just build, we should build a lineup and get out of here.
110:17Yeah, let's do it. Let's do, let's build a lineup.
110:20Um, so the way we usually do this is go back and forth.
110:24You, you build out the core. So, uh, you start with what core do you want?
110:29Who do you want to be at quarterback? Who do you want the stack to be?
110:34Okay. Let's do, let me just pull up quarterbacks here.
110:37Um, I, I want to build, I want to, I want to build a Jordan love team for sure.
110:43So maybe let's start with him. That sounds easy.
110:46Yeah. And I already know who your stack is with Jordan love because we've, we've talked about it as Christian Watson and Jaden Reed.
110:53Yeah, that's right. Um, all right. So now it's my turn.
110:56So this is you, you build out the stack and then I get to, to figure out how to add on here.
111:03I, man, I want to, I want to play a Vikings player as a bring back, but I actually don't feel that
111:10strongly that I love any Vikings on this slate.
111:13I feel like this is a cheap enough stack that we both like Omar and Hampton.
111:18I'm just going to throw Hampton into the lineup and I'll throw it back to you.
111:23Yeah. I like that. Um, I agree. I don't know that we necessarily need a bring back back.
111:29Uh, if I, if I were to, yeah, I don't, I I'm indifferent on Jefferson Addison.
111:34If you're doing that, I guess, but, uh, why don't we, I mean, we're pretty outside the box on the stack.
111:40So why, why don't we just like put Gibbs in the lineup and, and get that over with?
111:46Yeah, that's exactly how I was leaning to. We could throw in Gibbs.
111:50We could throw in Michael Mayer too. I think like it's contrarian enough.
111:54Maybe, maybe I'll, I guess it's my turn. So I'll just do that also.
111:58I think it makes sense to just, just build out the, uh, the chalk with the contrarian stack.
112:04And now we still have a fair amount of money left 52, 66 left per player.
112:09And that includes a defense. Um, so we're, we're doing okay.
112:12Money wise, who else do you want to throw in here?
112:16Should we pay up at running back in the flex is kind of my inclination.
112:20Um, we could do Ashton or, I mean, we could do Gentie mayor.
112:25I don't think that's wrong necessarily. Um, we could do, uh, Jonathan Taylor might be a little expensive, but let's do, let's
112:31put Gentie in and see what we think of it.
112:35Are you, are you like a against going Gentie plus mayor?
112:38No, not at all. I think they work well together.
112:41Um, it is, I feel like this is not my favorite slate for finding defenses, but I think with Gentie, I almost
112:48want to throw the Vegas defense in there because they're relatively inexpensive.
112:52Also not a defense that I, that I really believe in.
112:55And also we're probably not going to get a ton of drop back.
112:59So maybe I don't know that I love that.
113:02How much does the charges defense cost? 3,500. I mean, Detroit defense is kind of interesting from a like golf is, uh, is chalky perspective.
113:10Hmm. So we could consider, um, I'm just, just trying to think if there is any, any angles that I like from a defense.
113:17I mean, Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh actually makes a ton of sense.
113:20I'm guessing they're going to end up pretty chalky.
113:23Well, let's see what we could do if we throw in Pittsburgh and then, uh, and then we can adjust if, uh,
113:30if we need to get a little bit more money.
113:33Cause we are, we're a thousand dollars short of JMO now.
113:37So we could go a little bit cheaper and get JMO in there.
113:41Uh, we do have your guy, lad McConkey. Yeah.
113:44I don't mind that, uh, scroll, scroll like up a little bit for me.
113:48Just show me like the 6k range. See if there's anything worth paying down at defense for, um, yeah.
113:54So there's the JMO for just, if we get a hundred dollars, uh, Nico Collins, we would need 1100 less, which we,
114:01I guess that is, I think there are $2,200 defense, but that's kind of the top range of what we could theoretically do.
114:08Yeah. I feel like, I feel like we either get the hundred for JMO or we pay down and go like crystal lava, but let's see for 3,200.
114:17I mean, we'll get the Eagles. Uh, the, the lions is there.
114:20If we want to try, uh, lions with Gibbs against golf, I don't hate that, but then we also have JMO.
114:27So we'd have, yeah, I don't know if I want all of them.
114:31Yeah. Yeah. Playing lions defense. I mean, we could do, we could do bills against Houston.
114:36I don't hate that. Yeah. Yeah. That's, that seems fine.
114:39Go JMO. I don't think either Russ pretends to be like the defensive whisperers.
114:43Like no, not, not at all. Like that seems their bills against CJ Stroud seems, seems reasonable.
114:49So there we have a hundred dollars left over Jordan love with Christian Watson and Jaden Reed.
114:54No bring back from the Vikings. We also have Omari and Hampton, Jameer Gibbs, Jamison Williams, Michael Mayer, Ashton Gentty, and the bears defense.
115:02We'll lock that in. That's built bills defense. Yeah.
115:04Yeah. All right. Let's do, uh, one more. Um, so we did, we did a Jordan love lineup.
115:10Now I'll choose the stack and then, uh, throw it back to you.
115:14So we did Jordan love who else would I like here?
115:18Uh, let's do, let's do Joe burrow. I feel like that's another, I'm glad you picked him because I almost picked him
115:24first and I was like, I'll pick love just in case Neil doesn't pick him.
115:29So these were the two I wanted to build with.
115:32So perfect. Yeah. All right. Nice. Nice. All right.
115:35So we got, we got our two stacks, uh, Joe burrow with Jamar chase.
115:39Uh, then I will, I, I think it's, uh, I'll, I'll just include Chris Godwin cause I think we're both going to go there.
115:47Uh, and then I'll throw it to you. Uh, I mean, I think you should always double burrow, uh, in my mind,
115:54at least, uh, it's genuinely tough between chase Brown and T Higgins for me.
115:58Uh, what, what's the price difference on that is, uh, Higgins is like slightly cheaper, right?
116:03Yeah. Higgins, I think let's see Higgins is yeah.
116:066,300 at chase Brown 7,100. Let's, let's just make it burrow chase Higgins, throw that in for now and see, see what we can do.
116:14Okay. This one, obviously we're going to struggle a little bit more with the pricing.
116:18Um, so I'm not sure if we'll be able to fit, uh, you know, the, the running backs that we want to,
116:25we can probably get one of Gibbs or gente, I would guess, um, or, or Hampton maybe two of those three potentially, but probably not all three.
116:34Were there any cheap running backs that we, that you really liked?
116:37I mean, we talked about doubt all potentially, but that was more like I gave you the option.
116:43We could do Lloyd. Yeah. Doubt or Lloyd. I, you can, you can pick honestly.
116:48That's too Lloyd a little bit cheaper. Um, I would say, I think you, I want to say like, you have to
116:55play mayor, but I feel like that's going to be every Joe burrow team is just going to instantly go, go to mayor.
117:02So should we try to get different off of that?
117:05Or am I overthinking in a lineup where we have Marshawn Lloyd and Chris Godwin in it already?
117:11Right. I mean, we've got Lloyd at 4%. We've got Godwin at, I want to say like 6% and burrow is only like 7% owned too.
117:19Um, which yeah, I think you're right. That may like a lot of those burrow lineups will have overlap with mayor.
117:25Let's, uh, let's do, let's do it for now and we can adjust later because he is just, I think pretty clearly the best.
117:33Yeah. Um, and then defense, should we just throw in one of these cheaper defenses?
117:37I don't know if you have any that you particularly like, uh, I think, yeah, I'd be either.
117:43Yeah. I'd, I'd probably just be jets. Honestly. Yeah.
117:46Let's, let's lock that in. I'm guessing that's a church like the pay down defense.
117:51Everyone takes this week too, but I, I don't know, but that would, yeah, I think, I think you're probably right about that.
117:58I think they make some sense. Uh, but now we, we do have 6,800.
118:02I mean, 6,800 now we could play both of gente and Hampton if we wanted to, uh, what can we do if we play Gibbs?
118:10Where does that leave us in the flex? I guess that's just the, yeah, question point 5,600.
118:15Uh, so that could be Parker Washington. Um, Luther burdens at 5,500.
118:19Jared, not, not a lot of players that we talked about.
118:22I think Parker Washington, we skipped, we skipped over a few wide receivers that I like, but any, anyone that's been following
118:29fantasy points content all off season probably understood can probably guess my feelings on Parker Washington.
118:34So I, yeah, I like that. I do. Do you prefer Gibbs Washington to gente Hampton?
118:39Uh, it's close. I mean, I, I do like Parker Washington too.
118:43Um, did you, uh, I think I actually heard Jacob talk about the, the talking point of like potentially Denzel Ward is
118:50going to be on BTJ and that's going to open up, you know, Parker Washington in this matchup.
118:55And, and I'm, I'm with you. I also think Parker Washington could be a really strong play, uh, this, this season overall,
119:02and this could be a strong matchup. So yeah, I don't, I kind of like that.
119:07I think this kind of works. Yeah. I, I think this is a great lineup.
119:12I'm great. Trey thinks we should have played the Kohler express by the way, but, uh, that would be the pivot from mayor.
119:19That's good. It's a good point from Trey, but no, we'll, we'll, we'll roll this one.
119:24Something that we're all happy with. It'll like in future shows, I'm going to force Ryan to play the uncomfortable place.
119:31He doesn't want to play the way I always did with Scott, but on our first show, I'll be, I'll be more,
119:38uh, you know, understanding and then play players that we both like, but I do.
119:42I actually really like this line of Joe Burrell with Jamar chase and T Higgins with a Chris Godwin bring back Marshawn
119:49Lloyd, Jamir Gibbs, uh, Michael mayor eating the chop there, but then Parker Washington at the flex and jets defense.
119:55I think it's strong. I think it's another good lineup.
119:59Yeah. There you go a lot. There's our, there's our two lineups and there's our first outside the box, uh, with Ryan replacing Scott.
120:06I really enjoyed doing the show with you, Ryan.
120:09Um, but I don't know if you, you probably have some, some different content coming out, uh, you know, then, then Scott does.
120:16So what, uh, tell me, tell me what you have.
120:19Do you have more stuff coming out the rest of the weekend at fantasy points?
