0:18Gutscheinbedingungen auf shop-apotheke.com slash Gutscheine. Welcome back to the Best Ball Strategy Bible, the show where I, Ryan Heath, and my co-host
0:26here, Jacob Sanderson, are going to break down all the different team builds, all the strategies and approaches that you can use
0:33to win these Best Ball tournaments in 2026. This week, we're going to be talking about Robust RB, and then we're going
0:40to put that plan into action, into a real draft for you guys, as always.
0:45Really quick before we get started, just got to shout out the promo code for our audio listeners right now is DFS26.
0:52You can get 10% off any package over at FantasyPoints.com with that code, including our Best Ball rankings, all of our in-season
1:00content, Fantasy Points Data Suite, DFS, whatever it is that you need over at Fantasy Points.
1:05That's code DFS26 for the audio listeners. All right, Jacob, how we doing?
1:09We just finished doing Zero RB last week. Now we get to do, I think, the strategy that you and I agree
1:17is a little bit more attractive comparatively, maybe, in terms of how we actually want to fill out our Best Ball portfolios this year.
1:25And that's Robust RB, which I think is overall in one of the better positions that it's been over the past few years.
1:32We've seen success with the early running backs over these past couple of seasons.
1:37But yeah, talk to me, big picture. Where are you on Robust RB?
1:41What are you looking for in order to see it succeed?
1:45And how are you implementing this in your drafts right now?
1:49So the first thing I want to get out of the way is, depending on what corner of the internet you are,
1:56some people will call it Robust RB. Then people will call it Hyper Fragile.
2:00And then some people will say that they're different things.
2:04All that's fair enough. What we're talking about today is we're talking about drafting running backs early.
2:09We're talking about drafting quite a few running backs early.
2:13Exactly how you define your Robust versus your Hyper Fragile is fair enough.
2:17I think we're all going to group them a little bit under the same umbrella today.
2:22My view on this year is that that is probably a reasonable way to draft for really one reason, which is that
2:30I don't like very many running back clicks at cost after more or less round five.
2:35Five and arguably like the middle of round three.
2:38You know, I like almost every running back click on the board for the first round and a half.
2:44And after that, I'm basically picking and choosing between maybe there's one guy that I like and the next two on the
2:52rankings sheet I'm not as high on. And so if I want to maximize my chances of taking players that I like
2:59at cost, regardless of construction at every pick, probably not a bad idea to start my draft with two or three running
3:06backs before I'm into guys that I'm not a big fan of.
3:10So why is that the case? A combination, I think, of a couple of things.
3:15One, we've seen early running back teams have success the last couple of years.
3:20And so the position as a whole is getting pushed up.
3:23Two, despite that, you know, the the slappies, as we call them on on my other show, have maybe lost the war on wide receiver pricing.
3:32But they've won the war on what types of running backs get pushed up because we're seeing younger, more exciting running backs.
3:39You have to pay a really high premium on if you think that they have a chance at a starting role, which
3:47I think makes guys like a Trevion Henderson, a Basial Tootin less clearly targets for me at cost than they might have
3:54been in previous seasons with different draft economies. And then it's the same reason we talked about last week with 0RB.
4:01I usually love to draft a bunch of rookie running backs in the last six, eight to eight rounds of drafts.
4:08It's harder to find those clear targets this year.
4:11So loading up on the running back position worthwhile and then figuring out the rest later.
4:16Yeah, I'd echo a lot of that. I would also just kind of start from the place of I just think every
4:24year in fantasy football, the kind of default strategy, the what's probably going to work should just be early running backs like that.
4:31Outside of like a two to three year blip that we had when passing was at its absolute apex.
4:37In NFL history, the early running backs have been the most valuable picks in fantasy football.
4:43This is looking a little bit more in terms of like managed leagues, but I think this applies to best ball as well.
4:50Basically, all of the top six, top seven most valuable picks by like playoff rate or advance rate ever have just been running backs.
4:58So that in itself is like enough of an argument to me where most of the time, if what has worked before
5:06works again, it should just be early running backs.
5:09And yeah, I would echo what you said about the rookie running backs being absent this year.
5:14The kind of exciting, like ambiguous backs being priced up relative to where we've seen them before.
5:20And another thing I would say is that another like kind of source of upside at the running back position in the
5:27middle rounds for the ambiguous ones has been like year two running backs, year three running backs that you want to predict a breakout for.
5:36Three of those guys that have actually had these workhorse roles are entering the summer, at least with significant injury concerns in
5:43Quinn Sean Judkins, in Cam Scadaboo, in Bucky Irving.
5:46So even that kind of tier of guys in like round four, round five on underdog is a little less interesting to
5:53me than they might than that archetype of player might have been in the past.
5:58So, yeah, I think that does leave us with.
6:01Well, I would love to leave at least the first three rounds with two running backs on a lot of my teams.
6:08I guess let's kind of pivot into how we want to construct a team around robust RB, assuming that either it's, as
6:16I just said, at least two of our first three picks.
6:19We can take it even more extreme. What would have to happen in terms of either the NFL or in terms of
6:27just the types of players that are paying off, aside from the early running backs, for the early running back strategy to be a winner this year?
6:36What things are you looking for in terms of what we want to bet on as we plan out this team?
6:43Yeah, I think you're looking at, of course, that a lot of the early running backs stay healthy and specifically the ones that you pick on your team.
6:52I mean, that's the biggest deciding factor, I think, really in the success of early running back strategies versus more zero RB-esque strategies each year.
7:00I think probably also you're going to need the same flatness that is characterized sort of the early to mid and then
7:07the mid to late rounds at the wide receiver position to carry over because you do need to start a minimum three wide receivers each week.
7:16You can start up to five or up to four with the flex position.
7:21And you're going to need to be able to find some sort of value late.
7:26And that's, to me, the flip side and the concern that I've gotten with some of my heavier running back builds is
7:33as much as I don't like the running backs clicks in round six and round seven, I don't like the wide receiver clicks in that range either.
7:42If anything, I'm more enticed by some of the wide receiver clicks in the 90s and the 100s and the 110s.
7:49And so my thoughts are, how much can I get away with pushing this?
7:54If we draft three running backs, maybe even four running backs the first five rounds, does that force me into clicking wide receivers?
8:01I don't love a cost in six, in seven.
8:04Or can I, at that point, kind of do what we did last week on our zero RB team, which is also
8:12scratch out an early quarterback, also scratch out an early tight end.
8:15And, you know, if you are sitting there with only one or two wide receivers in the first six, seven rounds, is that a dead team?
8:24Historically, that's not performed very well. Historically, you want to be at least getting three wide receivers.
8:30So I think that you're going to need some hits later at the wide receiver position, because that's my biggest anxiety about
8:37some of my earlier running back starts this year is I think I'm forcing myself into either ignoring what's historically worked, which
8:44is still getting to that three wide receivers at least through seven rounds.
8:49Or putting my chips on wide receivers I don't love at cost in favor of quarterbacks and tight ends that I'm a bigger fan of.
8:57Yeah, just one thing to kind of add on the wide receivers and to put a little bit of like historical context and support to what you're saying.
9:06On underdog right now, the wide receiver 52 overall is Wondale Robinson, and he's going off the board at 117.
9:13That's around later than the wide receiver 52 was going last year.
9:17It was freaking Darnell Mooney of all players going 104th overall.
9:21In that range this year, around 104 overall, you have Josh Downs, Ricky Pearsall, Matthew Golden, Michael Pittman within six to eight picks on either end of that.
9:30I would say that these mostly strike me as better bets or more, either more exciting bets or better bets than a Darnell Mooney in comparison.
9:38I think some of that is, as you spoke to, just the flattening of the wide receiver position.
9:44Just the difference between a wide receiver two and a wide receiver four has felt a lot lower.
9:50And it has kind of run out that way in scoring at least last year.
9:55So, yeah, I think you want to lean into that continuing.
9:59I would like to, I think, leave the first five or six rounds with at least one wide receiver, possibly two if the board falls right.
10:08I will probably have to haggle over where the tier kind of just ends there and try to really play into that.
10:15But I'm with you just in terms of preferring a lot of the quarterbacks and tight ends kind of in those middle
10:22rounds to either of the running back or wide receiver clicks there.
10:26So, yeah, that'll be probably the biggest thing that we have to make sure we're getting right to set us up for
10:34success as we go further into the draft. So we can go ahead and load into a draft here and we will see you all in a minute.
10:43All right. We are in here in our draft room and we have the 109 again for a second consecutive week in a row.
10:51And I'm pretty excited about it this time because I do think the back end of drafts, the one to turn is
10:58an excellent spot to draft kind of robust RB from or at least a start running back, running back, regardless of what your overall build is.
11:07But yeah, that gives us a nice, easy, robust RB start.
11:10My biggest target here, it just generally in the back of round one is Ashton Gentty this year.
11:16I am just a big believer in the talent, big believer in Clint Kubiak.
11:21There's a million different ways you can massage his rookie season data to show that he was actually a more effective runner.
11:28If you're trying to find ways to control away him getting hit in the backfield and one of the worst performing offensive lines ever.
11:36Yeah, I'm pretty high on the offense relative to consensus.
11:40So he he's like my favorite guy to click at the back here.
11:44If we weren't doing a robust RB team, I think like a Gentty plus pulling up Bowers is kind of fun just
11:51to like super bet on the Raiders. Of course, that's irrelevant to our purposes here today.
11:57But yeah, talk to me about Gentty or any of your favorite bets here, Jacob.
12:02Yeah, I'm hopeful that he falls here. I'll note that the rankings you see before you in the queue, these are the fantasy points rankings.
12:10I, of course, also have my own personal rankings on thinking about thinking and Gentty ranks eighth overall in those.
12:16So I I'm a huge Ashton Gentty fan. He would definitely be my click here.
12:21I prefer him over James Cook, who is the highest running back available by ADP.
12:26So yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and put Ashton Gentty on our team.
12:31He's gonna be of everyone in round one, probably my most drafted player because he has an ADP, I think of 12.
12:38I have him all the way up at eight.
12:41Anytime I'm in the last third of the draft, and we're not doing a content based commitment to zero RB drafting, Ashton
12:48and Gentty is a major priority for me. And I think you can play him a few different ways.
12:55You know, I've taken him at the turn occasionally with one of these receivers if they fall.
13:00I'm happy to do that. If probably the direction we go today is going to be pairing him with one of these other running backs.
13:09I like a lot of them. It looks like we're going to have our choice here between at least a couple of
13:16Barkley, Walker, Hampton, Achan, that group of four. How would you how would you rank that group?
13:21It's been a hard group for me to rank.
13:24I feel like I don't have a huge differentiation between them.
13:28Achan goes now. Yeah, it's very tricky. I'd have Achan narrowly at the top, then Walker, then Barkley, then Hampton, I think
13:35is how I is where I am currently. So it would be Walker for me here.
13:41So Barkley goes here. I'm fine with Walker. I have probably the one guy I'm the highest on compared to you of this group would be Barkley.
13:50He just goes. So I'm quite fine with Walker here.
13:53I've been kind of going back and forth on Walker and Hampton.
13:57I think I have Walker higher. I've certainly mixed in some Hampton in that spot.
14:02So we start with Gentie and Walker, which is one of my favorite starts in drafts.
14:07I actually like picking at the end this year because I like a lot of that group of running backs.
14:14Typically, when I'm at the end and I start running back, running back, I kind of tend to ignore the running back
14:21position usually for the next while, honestly. Because I'm not usually a huge fan of many of the running backs at the 3-4 turn unless one falls.
14:30And then often, I'm not forcing the pick in round five.
14:34We made a commitment to drafting at least three running backs through five.
14:38So we know one of these next three running backs is going to be that guy.
14:43Do you have sort of a preference in your mind of how you would like to chart out these next couple of turns?
14:51Of course, accounting for the fact that we're just going to let the draft fall to us to some degree.
14:58I think I, if, yeah, given that we're doing a running back in the next three picks, the group of wide receivers
15:05that I'm the least upset, or I guess wide receivers and tight ends and quarterbacks that I'm the least upset at missing
15:12out on, it might be the end of a third, honestly.
15:16It's just that, yeah, Javante Williams and Travis Etienne don't do it for me.
15:21But, yeah, like even in the fifth, like you're not always going to get the quarterbacks you want there.
15:27That might be the spot to go, yeah, to go for a guy that might fall.
15:32I don't know that you're going to get a Judkins or somebody like that falling.
15:37You may end up with, yeah. I don't mind Tutankham's left.
15:41It's not a natural build to me. So I don't mind that.
15:45I mean, basically my typical move if I go running back, running back here is I'm usually, unless Hall falls all the way, which he did not here.
15:54He goes way ahead ADP. I'm not that into the group of Kyron, Etienne, and Javante.
15:59They feel to me like kind of dead zone-y profiles that have really gotten chased up the board.
16:05I will say Josh Jacobs. If he falls all the way to us, seven picks after ADP, we're just going to go ahead and go full robust.
16:14We're going to slam that and make it three straight.
16:18He does go before us. So to me, I'm not targeting Javante or Kyron here at all.
16:23I would take whoever our favorite receiver is with this pick and then come back around and rethink it.
16:30But do you have a preference here? Do you like T Higgins here?
16:34Let's do T Higgins. Yeah, I think T, I would be T or Garrett.
16:39I think I might have Garrett as my highest.
16:42Those two would be very close. I view Javante especially, his receiving really dried up down the stretch.
16:48I have him much more grouped with like David Montgomery than up here with Jacobs and Etienne and them.
16:54Yeah, to me, running back falls off pretty significantly after Jacobs and Etienne.
16:58And then I'm usually playing towards the end of the next year.
17:02Like I'm content to go away from the position and then come back and see what's available for us at 57.
17:09I'm not, maybe you're a little lower on like the Tootin Swift, Judkins group than I am.
17:15I'm not too opposed to those guys. Yeah, I don't mind them.
17:19I just was unsure if like a Judkins would fall, but I think it Tootin or Swift is a fine consolation there.
17:26Yeah, I'm, I would argue for Ladd or Evans here.
17:29I know you're probably going to disagree with both of those, but I don't know.
17:34Is it still even a Robo Starby team? There's not really a tight end.
17:39We got to get three through five. Well, there's a tight end.
17:43I click a hell of a lot here. Oh, yeah.
17:46Wait, we can totally do that. Yeah, that's a good compromise.
17:50All right. Perfect. Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and disagree with the fantasy points rankings on this in particular player.
17:57He's been, yeah, he's, I think my, my number one target in best ball drafts this year is Colson Loveland in the fourth round.
18:05So we get him here. I also love where we get Higgins and Loveland there both come with an, with an obvious stacking option at round six.
18:14So potentially we could go even, you know, running back in five quarterback in six if we wanted to and really rely on T Higgins.
18:22But we'll see how things, things shape up. Who's the running back you're most hoping to fall to us at 57?
18:29Now that we've made a public commitment to drafting a running back there, no matter what.
18:34I think probably Judkins. For him, I just have the most faith that if he's healthy, he will be in something approximating an every down bell cow role.
18:44I know Samson mixed in a lot as a receiver, but Judkins was a prospect that I wasn't super hot on.
18:51I know you weren't super hot on, but he, he just had moments last year where he looked really, really good running the ball.
18:59I lean positive in terms of just Todd Munkin's ability to have like a serious offense, even with the Deshaun Watson of it all.
19:07I think this team might want to lean a little more to the run if they can.
19:12Whether they can is, is up to interpretation for sure.
19:16Based on their implied win total of six, I think five and a half, six, there's somewhere around there.
19:22So yeah, I don't know. Maybe I'm just talking myself into, well, he's gone anyway.
19:27Maybe I'm just talking myself into Swift or to in where you can at least make the case of these are really
19:34explosive offenses that we want pieces of Swift. I think it almost doesn't matter any nitpicks you have in him as a player.
19:42Like he, it's just been shown to us that he's going to have a 60% opportunity share and potentially five straight running
19:49backs come off the board here with the fifth round.
19:52So we actually had a few fall behind ADP, but then they all come crashing off the board.
19:58Montgomery, Irving, Judkins, Henderson, Swift. Scadaboo came off the board earlier than that.
20:03So the top of our queue is it's Tootin and it's Price.
20:07And we better get one of those two because otherwise we have to take Chuba Hubbard.
20:12So I'm hoping personally, okay, at least while it comes off the board, we're going to get one of Tootin or Price.
20:19I prefer Basial Tootin. Price is higher in ADP.
20:22I'm curious your thoughts on that. Yeah, I also prefer Tootin.
20:26Obviously a Gulf and so yeah, you can just click Tootin and Odunze comes off.
20:31So Tootin is ours to select. I viewed this as like, I think Price's best case is similar to Tootin's worst case
20:38in like a weird way that I can kind of twist myself into believing where they're both kind of entering the season
20:46as like, well, who else is going to get the lion's share of the early down work in these backfields?
20:52But with Price, he has like this specter of Zach Charbonnet coming for him potentially at some point in the second half
20:59of the season where I don't want to say regardless of how Price performs, but I think almost regardless of how he
21:07performs, Charbonnet will become involved in the passing game at the goal line at some point or another in those prime like best ball playoff weeks.
21:15Whereas if Tootin is, certainly it's in the range of outcomes for Tootin to just straight up lose his job by then.
21:23I'm going to cut you off here quick because we're back on the clock.
21:27We got 14 seconds here. To me, it's either Caleb for the stack or we go with Tate or Harrison.
21:34I'd have Caleb. Caleb, all right. For me, yeah.
21:37All right, let's do it. Caleb's my most drafted quarterback, so I have no problems with that.
21:43We've got through six now. We accomplished our three running backs through five, so Gentty, Walker, and Tootin.
21:49We've also, for the second straight week, gone double onesie, which has been a thing I've done a lot in my drafts with Loveland and with Caleb Williams.
21:58Tee Higgins is our lone wide receiver. So sorry to cut you off in the middle of a very good Tootin point,
22:05but we had to make a pick there. How do you look at building?
22:10Have you had a lot of wide receiver rooms where you've been one through six, and how do you build it if you do?
22:18I can say I've done it more this year than ever before, so I've gotten a little bit of experience at it,
22:25but what do you look for at this point?
22:28No, honestly, instant egg on my face. We should have taken Tate or Harrison there because I do not like building one
22:35through six, and it just was not in my mind that that's what I had just committed to when I was like,
22:43oh, yeah, let's do the Caleb stack. I like that bet in a vacuum more than, oh, clicking Harrison, but yeah, that's
22:50probably what we just should have done. So yeah, we're going to have to scrap and fight to build up this wide receiver room.
22:58Okay, so I guess what are your thoughts? How do you want to steer this into creating a good wide receiver room out of this?
23:06I don't mind it for two reasons. One being that I think any time that you're kind of doing some of these
23:14more extreme strategies where you're really prioritizing one of running back or one of wide receiver, you know, I think part of
23:21the idea is you have to attack the other position with volume.
23:25And if you're doing that, it makes it easier to get more raw volume at one position.
23:30If you can reduce how many picks you have to allocate to onesie positions.
23:35So by going early level and early Caleb, like that opens us up to do something like a two, five, nine, two,
23:42if we need to, to really just attack the wide receiver position with volume.
23:47Um, but to me, we're getting into a range, like I like Marvin and Tate fine at the last pick, but let's
23:54say, let's say they were off the board. Like I'm definitely not forcing a player.
23:59I don't like there because I do think the wide receiver is pretty flat, especially after that.
24:05Um, you know, so I'm probably looking at this as this looks like a, we could go two, five, nine, two.
24:12We can go three, five, eight, two. Um, I think quarterback remains in play over this window, but I think probably, probably
24:19I'm closing the page on running back until we get into like the 120 range where we get into our boy Rashad
24:27White and some other similar options in that range.
24:30Uh, and I'm probably looking at quarterback and wide receiver over the next while.
24:34Some of my favorites in this next patch of the draft at cost Reed, Godwin downs.
24:40Um, I like Ricky Pearsall. I cost a lot on underdog right now.
24:44I don't know if that's a popular take or not, but, um, those are some of the guys I'd be, I'd be looking at.
24:52Yeah. I, I like a lot of those shouts.
24:55Uh, Josh downs, even like a Michael Pittman kind of stands out to me in terms of if, if I'm trying to
25:02just scrap together a functional wide receiver room, he strikes me as someone that could just lead the Steelers in targets.
25:09Uh, totally everything, everything I've seen from Metcalf and Pittman the last few years has kind of led me to believe that
25:16Pittman's a better target earner at the very least.
25:19So he's kind of a nice bet on volume as well.
25:23So yeah, we, we have some options here and I do think the board fell a decent way for us.
25:30I agree with that. So let's, so let's go wide receiver here.
25:34I think I would be my highest ranked is read, but I have a pretty flat tier here.
25:40Um, so I'll leave this in your hands. Yeah.
25:43I'm happy with read over, over a Jordan Addison, over a DK Metcalf who I could shit talk for five minutes, but I won't subject anyone to that.
25:52Uh, yeah, I read is definitely my favorite of this bunch.
25:56Um, but we should, yeah, for our next pick coming up on the turn here, we also have to think about intentionally is setting up stacks too.
26:04It's going to be a little bit more difficult than your average.
26:08Well, we already have, we already have Caleb Loveland.
26:11So that's one taken care of, but we've just taken Jordan Reed.
26:15So, or Jaden Reed. So I think Jordan Love at the pick following is pretty in play.
26:21Um, and then we'll see what else we do.
26:24I mean, I'm also not completely against taking like Lawrence, even at this pick with Tootin or Dart at this pick, depending
26:31on how much we think that there's a fall off at the wide receiver position between now and 105.
26:38Like I'll, I'll put up the ADP view here.
26:41Um, so, okay. Lawrence goes, so I would be, I think my highest ranked of the receivers is Godwin.
26:47Um, I'm fine with Myers. I'd be fine with Downs.
26:50Do you have a preference here? Or would you reach on the guard?
26:55We can go Godwin. And I'll, I'll, yeah, I'll defer a pick to you and you can talk about why you like Godwin.
27:02Cause I know you feel a lot stronger about him than I might.
27:07Uh, I, I just, I'm just really afraid that he's completely washed and you're paying like a sign, an actual pick for him.
27:14Uh, but tell me why you think he's not, or why you think he's set up for success.
27:20I mean, I think he was, he was in the middle of his best season, uh, in 2024.
27:26And then he suffers this significant injury. Pretty much everyone who's had this fibula injury.
27:31It seems like it's been a two-year injury for most of them.
27:35Pollard was terrible the year after Andrews is terrible the year after.
27:39Um, Mooney was terrible for the year after, and then actually was quite good the year following, and then was terrible again last year.
27:47Um, so I don't think it's like, I, I think he should have already been expected to be quite bad last year.
27:54That's kind of what I'm saying. And that's almost like independent of maybe that just means he's cooked for life, but I
28:02don't think that the fact he was terrible last year is that determinative for his status this year.
28:08And then I just see a lot of opportunity there.
28:11Like there's no more Mike Evans, uh, of course in Tampa Bay, I'm just not sold at all on Emeka Buka as like a complete alpha wide receiver.
28:20Um, he was a prospect I liked, I didn't love.
28:24Um, he had a rookie season last year that I think has been overrated a bit by the primacy effect.
28:30I'm trying my best to view it, you know, not as not only looking critically at the end of the year data,
28:37but I'm, I'm trying to just look on the whole as much as possible.
28:42And I don't think it's like 80, 20 outcome that he's better than a, a healthy Chris Godwin by any stretch.
28:49And I suspect Godwin's probably the favorite for the F role, which is, you know, the role that we just saw, um,
28:56uh, Drake London have a ton of success filling at times for Zach Robinson.
29:01And we've also gotten confirmation. Apparently Zach Robinson talks to Liam Cohen like every day and they're good friends.
29:07He's saying how, how to best to use these guys, you know?
29:11Yeah. What if he can use Chris Godwin the same way that Liam Cohen did to such great success?
29:18So I just think it's a, it's an offense that is generally fantasy friendly.
29:22He's a player that the last time we saw him at full health was a wide receiver one.
29:28Um, and I think I'm getting a pretty substantial discount.
29:32So I'm, I'm pretty into Chris Godwin. I know his price is rising, so I'm, I'm less excited about him at costs.
29:39I was, uh, you know, a month ago, but I'm, I'm still pretty excited.
29:44Yeah, I think that's well argued. Uh, I, I'm just very lukewarm on every Buccaneer.
29:49I think I, I, I'm sympathetic to what you just said with Godwin.
29:53I can see how you can twist a similar argument to what you just made in, in a Bucca's favor.
29:59Uh, just with him being the one to kind of benefit if, if Godwin is actually cooked and you suddenly get like
30:07really strong target concentration, uh, kind of regardless of how elite you think he is.
30:12But yeah, they're, they're a really tricky one, uh, to figure out this off season.
30:17Uh, what do you want to do here? We've got a pick coming up.
30:21Uh, we already talked about Michael Pittman. I would be cool with Ricky Pierce all as well.
30:27I I'm kind of cool with that. Whatever way you want to go here.
30:32Uh, Jordan love also probably a consideration or he, I would probably, I'd probably pound the table for Pierce all.
30:38And then that gives us three stacking options for quarterbacks on the next pick.
30:43That's perfect. And yeah, you know, we will have, we will have our, we'll have our choice now.
30:49If birdie falls and we have cover now, if someone does take pretty, we have love with Reed or if we're forced
30:56into it, we can also do Baker with, uh, Chris Godwin.
31:00Yeah. I, I would even assuming he makes it to us.
31:04I would just pound the table for pretty here.
31:07Oh, he's underpriced every single year guys. I don't, I don't understand why Brock Purdy is never treated as like a mid
31:14range fantasy QB one when that's how he's almost always scored.
31:17Uh, if you just look at spike weeks of 25 or more points over the past three years, it's like Josh Allen
31:25and Lamar Jackson way ahead of everybody. And then Purdy is in like a five way tie essentially for third, uh, with here he comes.
31:33We just got all these guys. Yeah. That's crazy.
31:36We got pretty around and a half past ADP.
31:39That's huge. Um, so, and it's nice that we did that because love who has the higher, the lower ADP than Purdy actually goes ahead of Purdy.
31:48So if we, if we went a different direction than Pierce all, we, we are then looking at an unstacked Purdy with love told stolen off the board.
31:57Um, I mean, look, I think we took, we made a risky choice in going one wide receiver through six, but I
32:05actually feel quite good about the collection of, of Reed, Godwin, Pierce all, um, we're up to four wide receivers.
32:11Now we also have our second quarterback. Now, both our quarterbacks are stacked.
32:16Um, I'm, I'm pretty pumped about this team quite honestly, as we now get through round 10, we're sitting with Caleb and
32:23Purdy, uh, a quarterback, Gentty Walker and Tutan at running back Higgins, Reed, Godwin and Pierce all a wide receiver Loveland at tight end.
32:31And this is also a nice combo with Williams and Purdy, where I feel like if the board doesn't fall to us,
32:38um, that can rest as a two quarterback team.
32:41If we happen to get another quarterback later on that fits, um, you know, it's certainly available to us, but, um, yeah,
32:48I think we have optionality with how to finish this.
32:52This could be up to a two, five, nine, two, or, or I'm pretty comfortable with how we've been managing receiver.
32:59If we end up doing three, five, eight, two or two, five, eight, three or something, we'll, we'll have options down the stretch.
33:06Yeah. I'm also extremely just over the moon about this team.
33:10This, this one looks really, really awesome to me.
33:13The just, I, I don't, I can't tell if it's cause like we, it's partially that we just got lucky with Purdy falling so far.
33:21Uh, but yeah, to have your stacks like actually just done and like taken care of at this point in a draft
33:29where we started with three running backs through five rounds and only one wide receiver that that's pretty exciting.
33:35Like we can do basically whatever we want. We can just pick all of our favorite late round guys now and not
33:42be too concerned about, uh, like backfilling the construction in like any sort of forced way.
33:47We have to draft some more wide receivers for sure.
33:51Uh, so maybe that's just where we start and kind of fill in around there, making sure we get our, just our favorite late round pick.
33:59If Kittle gets to us this pick, that's probably where we're going first.
34:04Ooh, that's extremely fun. That's like, Oh God, that that's like such an intriguing, like playoffs piece on this team.
34:10Uh, Oh man. I feel like too, just even hoping for it feels greedy.
34:15Oh no, he's way off the board. He went, he's, he's, I thought he went way ahead of ADP.
34:21I thought he was still there cause he hasn't been there for like a round.
34:26So yeah, his ADP is 117 and I was like, maybe he's falling, but he actually went 25 picks ahead of ADP in this room.
34:35That's why I didn't notice him come off the board.
34:38So, uh, so he's long gone, but, uh, we are probably looking, this is a not, not, not my favorite range of wide receiver.
34:46There's one guy I love, which is Rashid Shahid.
34:49Is there anyone you particularly love in this range?
34:52I'm a big Rashid Shahid guy. Let's do it.
34:55Uh, great. I haven't drafted. Welcome to the team.
34:58Yeah. I haven't drafted as much of him after him.
35:01So perfect. Yeah. I haven't drafted as much of him this year, but he was, I believe one of my highest exposures last year.
35:09Uh, and the year before that, like I've just been on the late round Shahid train for so long that.
35:16Yeah. I'm pretty cool with it. Uh, and, and why not this year?
35:20Like we have seen wide receivers that get traded mid season that aren't like total superstars have trouble being fantasy relevant from that point on.
35:28Uh, and it would make sense that that just unfairly pulls down Rashid Shahid's cost.
35:33He is, was basically as, or more efficient than Chris Olave for years in new Orleans.
35:39Like I, I think he's a really good receiver.
35:42Uh, is definitely the spike week kind of archetype that you want in best ball.
35:47So yeah, I, I, I'm in love with this take again.
35:50This is a tricky spot. We're back on the, on the board.
35:54I think we have optionality. Is there anyone at the tight end position that you like, or would you go Darnold or,
36:02uh, Omar Cooper is my highest wide receiver. We have five seconds.
36:06I like Goddard here is Goddard sticks out to me, but I'm okay with.
36:10All right. I can give you Goddard. Those options.
36:13Yeah. Okay. I'm basically just waiting for, uh, actually maybe I can't even see the ADP.
36:18It's too small on the screen right now. I'm just waiting for a Rondi Gadsden to get behind Goddard in ADP before
36:26I start wheeling out my like a Rondi Gadsden bull takes that that's like what I'm waiting for.
36:32It's going to happen. The fall is happening. That's like my cutoff.
36:36So I think it's already happened because Goddard has an ADP of one.
36:4034.8 Gadsden, one 37. Um, you're hearing this probably on a bit of delay, so it might even be further.
36:47Um, but, uh, yeah, it's, it's happening already. I'm going to be super into Gadsden this summer.
36:52I can tell. Absolutely. I was already kind of into him a little bit at cost.
36:58I'm lucky that I liked the early tight end so much because he was, that was kind of preventing me from hammering him pre and Joku pricing.
37:07I'm, I'm so thrilled about the chance of like having one late round tight end that I want to draft a ton of.
37:14And I think Gadsden probably, probably a pretty good chance.
37:18He settles in the one fifties in ADP. And I'm going to be super excited about that price.
37:24Like I think he falls below Sadiq below Goddard and Ferguson.
37:27I wouldn't even be surprised if he falls below like Isaiah likely.
37:31Um, so it would be fun to be, to get a big bag of, of one 50 plus a Rondé Gadsden this summer.
37:39Yeah. We, we'll have to make sure that we mark that down as a strategy.
37:44We execute, uh, one of these weeks is like super late tight end, late tight end.
37:49I, yeah, I did so many of those builds last year.
37:53Uh, didn't have that much success really. Cause I think I mostly picked the wrong guys in terms of like actually getting
38:00to week 15, getting them to advance. Uh, but I, I think it's comparatively probably less exciting this year just cause the
38:07rookie, again, the rookie class isn't as good. That seems to be a common theme here in what's like, uh, creating my preferred constructions and strategies.
38:16But yeah, there, there's some interesting names. Uh, when Gadsden falls, I'm into Chico Conquo as well.
38:22He's been a bit of a riser, I believe.
38:25Uh, yeah, that could be fun, but yeah, we got to focus on wide receivers here for sure.
38:31Uh, what do you think of the Raiders wide receivers?
38:34I, that's something I wanted to pick a grain on.
38:37Cause I try so hard not to think of the Raiders wide receivers.
38:42Um, yeah, I mean that one, like initially my read was Naylor because they paid him.
38:47Um, but all of the camp hype has been about Tucker who just goes off the board.
38:52As you say that, uh, is Naylor already off the board?
38:56He is, so we're not taking a Raiders wide receiver.
38:59Um, we almost took Cooper last time. He's now over a full round pass ADP that that's screaming to be the pick for me.
39:07Yep. Yeah. That seems pretty easy. All right. So I'm going to go ahead and do that.
39:13I'm going to also add now. Um, I was hearing off the board.
39:17Someone take Gino. Like, yeah, someone took Gino, like four rounds at ADP.
39:22Okay. Wow. Interesting draft we have going on here.
39:25Uh, he must, he must have forgotten. Same guy that took Jalen Naylor way ahead ADP and same guy that took Kittle way ahead ADP.
39:33Hopefully this draft doesn't get thrown up. Um, TSK three is getting his guys in this room.
39:39Um, all right. So we're now to two, three, six, two.
39:42Um, I think, well, we probably do want a third tight end because we, we didn't play our bye weeks correctly.
39:49Um, so we'll probably grab around 18 tight end.
39:52Uh, so I'm thinking this might, this might be a two, five, eight, three.
39:57It could be a three, five, seven, three. Cause I think we've recovered quite nicely at wide receiver.
40:03Um, we have, we have noted stacking option to John strumbling.
40:06We have a, a, a falling way past ADP Jonah Coleman, who we took last week.
40:12We also have Charbonnet. We took last week. Um, both, I think our, our Coleman just goes.
40:17So I would be, we also had Spears. We talked about last week did not take, uh, I'll, I'll say my vote
40:25would be one of Spears, Charbonnet or, or Boston.
40:28Let's go Spears. All right. I kind of like that.
40:31Add a little, little floor, a little upside to the running back room.
40:35I think that's an appropriate, I'm not that crazy about any of those wide receivers.
40:40So I think that's a logical place to pick up the fourth running back.
40:45Yeah. I, I, I mean, strumbling is a stacking option.
40:48I haven't ranked pretty far ahead or behind, uh, ADP.
40:52So tough, tough for me to get him mixed in.
40:55Um, Cooper has been the guy I've been drafting a ton.
40:59Um, like he's not a wide receiver prospect I loved, but he has around one wide receiver prospect technically.
41:05And, um, I don't, I still don't think he has like the worst profile I've ever seen.
41:11Like, I, I feel as though, like we have a tendency as a fantasy community sometimes to like flatten the difference between
41:18not great prospects and make it kind of binary between like good and bad.
41:22And Cooper, I guess has been lumped into the bad by a lot of folks, but like, I think he is a
41:30clearly better prospect coming out than Xavier Leggett or Ricky Puresell.
41:33I mean, I go as far as to say purely prospect profile.
41:37I know that the situation, whoops, is wildly different, but like, I think Cooper was a better wide receiver prospect than Matthew Golden personally.
41:45I'd agree with that. Yeah. I think that's what my model showed as well.
41:50That's how I feel there. There are at least things to like in the Cooper profile.
41:55He had excellent per route efficiency for most of his college career.
41:59Uh, the production didn't come until later. And I would say for specifically a seasonal format like this, he's kind of the
42:07archetype of wide receiver prospect that we could see be relevant earlier in his career, right?
42:12This is a player that's probably going to live largely off of design targets, off of screens, off of like these easy
42:19little like run after the catch type of work.
42:22And that's something that can just happen immediately if they, if the Jets want to put that into their offense with Cooper
42:30as the one that's featured, it's not necessarily like he has to develop a ton as a route runner or, uh, just
42:37like football IQ wise, uh, before he can contribute on an NFL field with his skillset.
42:42So yeah, I think specifically in seasonal, he does make some sense.
42:46So I kind of like that. All right, we're back up on the clock here.
42:51Um, my two favorite picks are, are one washed free agent, Debo Samuel and one rookie and Jeremy Bernard.
42:57Um, do you like either of those or do you have another guy?
43:02Uh, we can go Debo. Uh, it's yeah. He's Omar Cooper before Omar Cooper, but yeah, I don't know where do you
43:09have like a taker or conspiracy theory? I've been slamming Debo Samuel.
43:13I have no idea where he's going to sign, but I just can't see a reason why he wouldn't sign.
43:20Like I don't have any, there's no reports of him being like a bad dude, right?
43:25Like I, I don't think there's any, any sort of smoke about major character concerns with Debo.
43:31I don't know that he has like major individual injuries.
43:34I think you could say like his body is breaking down a bit, but yeah, I, I think it's pretty, I would
43:41say it's at least like 80% or higher that he signs somewhere.
43:45And I really struggle to think of a place he'd sign where he's available in the 170s.
43:51Um, I mean, I think so there's some fun options like, uh, Miami.
43:55He played for Bobby Sloak before in, in San Francisco.
43:58I think they could make use of a player like that with ball and hand skills kind of as a team that
44:06probably doesn't want to throw the ball that much anyways.
44:09So that's what I'm hoping for. I saw him linked to the Colts today in one speculative column.
44:15That's not usually the Colts way of doing business, but they do have a desperate need at wide receiver.
44:21They're, they're currently slated to start Nick Westbrook at Keene.
44:25So I'd prefer Debo Samuel to Nick Westbrook at Keene.
44:28Yeah, no. And I mean, there's the target vacuum spot in terms of the Raiders would make a little bit of sense as well.
44:36Like there, yeah, there's definitely spots where he could go.
44:39And as you said, there's not like the, or let's talk about this pick.
44:44Uh, yeah. So we're now at two, four, seven, two.
44:47We probably need, we're looking at one wide receiver, one running back, one tight end in any order.
44:53Do you, do you care? Um, I'm going to put Emmett Johnson at the top of the queue.
44:59You got four seconds. We have Walker. You want, you want a handcuff?
45:04Oh, nope. No, I don't. All right. Okay. We got Flournoy in the last minute.
45:08Uh, when we do these trash for content, I really forget who, about who the handcuffs are.
45:14So good catch. He can't. Well, my, so my blind spot during content is, is as we saw in this draft is by weeks.
45:22I am not paying attention to by weeks whatsoever.
45:25And yeah, you're, you're, I've had to yell at you about handcuffs a couple of times in these.
45:31So we, yeah, we got to just cover those weaknesses for each other and we'll be good.
45:37Oh, speaking of, I, I, I almost just did the worst handcuff ever.
45:41I was like, Oh, we have Caleb and we need on our tight end.
45:46I was like, well, what about Cole Komet late?
45:49And we do have Colton Lovins. So that's not, that's not going to be the guy.
45:54Um, all right. Do you have a late tight end that you find least depressing that we'll get at 17, 18, Michael Mayer.
46:02Okay. That's fun. I just, like, why would he not it?
46:05We have been talking about the Raiders wide receiver room and how destitute it is.
46:10If that's the case, even if they do sign one guy like Debo or whatever, uh, why would they not just be
46:18a 12 personnel team on 60 to 70% of their dropbacks?
46:21Uh, we've seen Michael Mayer average. He's, I believe he's the tight end 14 or the tight end 15 by points per
46:28game when he's runs over two thirds of the routes that includes like one or two games with Bowers active as well.
46:36Uh, he has out targeted Trey Tucker in four out of seven of those games or something like that.
46:42Like he has more games being ahead of Trey Tucker just in terms of targets with Bowers out.
46:48Uh, I think he's like, see if he's, if the wide receiver two for the Raiders is on the roster, why is it not Michael Mayer?
46:57And you can get them in the final round of every single draft.
47:01He has massive contingent upside as well. If there's a Bowers injury, as we've seen, he's just stepped in and given you
47:08what, whatever it is, 18 draft Kings points, uh, in some of those spots.
47:13So yeah, he, he's easily my favorite super late, uh, tight end that is not getting drafted that often even.
47:20Nice. I love that. I I've had him like in the ranks, um, which is like higher than his ADP is.
47:27Um, so I, I'm excited about that. My, my favorite guy has probably been Greg Bolsic, but I like the Michael Mayer call.
47:34Um, I'm, I'm definitely open-minded to him. He's rarely drafted.
47:38He has an ADP of two 15.5, the final pick being two 16.
47:42So he also brings a uniqueness element to the proceedings.
47:45Um, we're at a three, four, eight, two. I think this is probably, um, or sorry, two, four, eight, two.
47:52I don't think there's really a quarterback here that makes much sense.
47:56So I think it's going to be two, five, eight, three.
47:59Um, so all, I think we can make Mayer our 18th pick.
48:03He has about a 15% draft rate. So, um, we'll, we'll go ahead and do the running back first.
48:10Um, my highest ranked is, is Mr. Braylon Allen.
48:13I think we, no, we didn't take him last time.
48:16We took Ray Davis. P Ron of Giddens in the queue.
48:20Here's running back. We can just go Allen. All right.
48:23We can do Allen. It's like so hard to draft running backs in the final two rounds in May.
48:29It's not. You just take Braylon Allen. I love it.
48:33Well, that, that's what, you know, it's hard because I'm saying, let's take Braylon Allen, but I, I, I, Braylon Allen, Ray Davis.
48:40Yeah. Lock. Yeah. I, Davis, like I'm less sure that he's just the RB too, but I, I think he's the most
48:48talented of these options probably, but yeah, Braylon Allen is just, he's there.
48:52We, we know this staff has really wanted to give him touches.
48:56That's the important thing about Braylon Allen is that he's there.
48:59Yeah. I mean, look, last year we were getting all of this steam about Braylon Allen.
49:05Um, and it's just, I don't know, like he got hurt.
49:08I'm, I'm pretty darn sure that he is the RB too on early downs over Isaiah Davis.
49:14I still think he's going to get some carries in base.
49:18He did last year. I still think he's going to get occasional goal line vultures.
49:23Um, so like, I, I don't know. I think he's a pretty screaming value at pick 201.
49:28Um, I, I, I think legitimately he is my most drafted player in post-draft best ball contests, which I guess just every
49:36year I find excuses to draft New York jets.
49:39Uh, Michael Mayer is indeed there for us. So that is going to be our final pick.
49:44Our team is Caleb Williams, Brock Purdy, uh, our three running backs through five.
49:49We went Ashton Gentty, Kenneth Walker, Basial Tootin. Kind of, kind of the last time we, we drafted a zero RB team
49:56with a bunch of boomer running backs. This time he drafted a, a boomer running back team with a bunch of, a bunch of slappy running backs.
50:05We added on Ty J Spears and Braylon Allen.
50:08Our wide receiver room, which I think is perfectly cromulent considering we took one in the first six rounds is T Egan's,
50:15Jaden Reed, Chris Godwin, Ricky Pearsall, Rashid Shahid, Omar Cooper, Debo Samuel, and Ryan Flournoy.
50:20Uh, and that's with a Pearsall being the stack partner there with Purdy.
50:25We have Loveland as our tight end one stack with Caleb followed by Dallas Goddard and Michael Mayer.
50:31Yeah. My takeaway from this team is that you, you totally can do it at wide receiver.
50:36I was afraid when we passed on Tate and Marvin Harrison, uh, in round five or round six there, whenever that was,
50:44but yeah, we, I think we did pull it together.
50:47I think you can pull it together. That's just my biggest takeaway from, uh, this draft is regardless, whether it's a robust
50:54RV strategy, or if you're trying to do weird stuff with like bully tight end or anything else this year that would necessitate pushing off wide receiver.
51:03I do think it's very doable. Uh, you have to be, you have to be intentional about the type of bets you're making.
51:11I would say like, I think we layered together, uh, kind of your like Omar Cooper types that are just total, like
51:18total rookie, like hoping for late season upside type of plays, uh, with a Chris Godwin, who's your boring veteran that people
51:26do want to click him cause he's rising, but it is like more of the dusty archetype where he you're what you're
51:33hoping with him is like the cards flip over in week one and it's, Oh, he's actually the wide receiver one in this offense or it's way closer.
51:42Uh, yeah, I think we kind of weave together almost like you would with the zero RB team, like the different types
51:49of bets here later at wide receiver. And I think, yeah, as we've been saying throughout the show, I think ADP and
51:57the wide receivers available post round six around seven really allow you to do this, uh, more so than the past handful of years on underdog.
52:05So that is pretty exciting. Uh, and, and I am going to be drafting more teams like this, uh, coming out of here.
52:13Yeah, I agree. It was very fun draft. This one is, is pretty similar to some teams I've taken this year because
52:20of my prioritization of the onesie positions in drafts this season.
52:24That seven, eight, nine, 10, 11 range is kind of the only range of the draft that I feel like I actually
52:31like a lot of the wide receivers is the best pick on the board pretty frequently.
52:37Um, I love Reed. I'm into Godwin. I'm into Pierce all I'm into Shahid.
52:41I'm into plenty of the names that we didn't take on this one, but, um, that I'm sure we'll take on future drafts.
52:49Um, if you stick with us. Awesome. Well, thank you guys for watching as always.
