A.J. Brown

PositiveProjection15:57

A.J. Brown is the Patriots' most talented receiver since Randy Moss and fits perfectly with Drake Maye's deep-ball ability; he is ranked as the WR10 by Field Yates and WR8 by Daniel Dopp. Brown averages 26.5 yards per touchdown catch, providing a massive deep-threat upgrade over the previous roster.

Insight page

Brock Bowers

PositiveProjection62:35

Brock Bowers is viewed positively as part of an improved Raiders offense that is healthier and features a better system for the pass catchers.

Insight page

Cam Ward

PositiveProjection59:41

Cam Ward showed significant improvement following the bye last year, throwing 10 touchdowns to one interception, and is expected to be buoyed by a better offensive situation in Tennessee.

Insight page

Carnell Tate

PositiveProjection59:37

Carnell Tate is ranked as WR22, higher than the consensus WR28, due to his pro-ready skill set and the Titans' favorable strength of schedule; he is expected to have a smooth transition to the NFL.

Insight page

Chris Rodriguez

NegativeInjury57:34

Chris Rodriguez is currently dealing with a foot injury, which has limited his ability to compete for first-team reps against Basial Tootin.

Insight page

Colston Loveland

PositiveValue36:27

Colston Loveland is ranked as the TE3 by the source, who views him as a highly efficient pass-catching option in the Bears' offense, though he requires a fourth-round draft investment.

Insight page
PositiveSleeper37:04

The source is extremely high on Colston Loveland, ranking him as the TE3 overall and 34th overall in their personal rankings. They view him as a potential star and the next great NFL tight end, noting he was highly efficient for the Bears when given opportunities last year. The source is drafting him heavily, though they acknowledge he requires a fourth-round investment.

Insight page

D.J. Moore

NegativeProjection38:24

The source believes DJ Moore's days as a low-end WR1 or high-end WR2 are behind him. While they expect him to be the WR1 in the Buffalo offense and draw 100 targets, they do not view him as a premier wide receiver anymore. They currently rank him as WR27 and suggest he is cheap in drafts, though they are skeptical of him reaching Devante Smith-type value.

Insight page

DeVonta Smith

NegativeProjection20:31

DeVonta Smith is viewed as a strong WR2, ranked around WR15-16. While he will lead the Eagles in targets (projected ~120), he lacks a traditional 'alpha' skill set and may struggle to reach top-12 status without A.J. Brown drawing coverage away from him.

Insight page

Drake Maye

PositiveProjection18:20

Drake Maye led the NFL in deep completion percentage last year and is considered one of the best deep-ball throwers of the last decade. His ability to connect on deep passes makes him an ideal match for A.J. Brown.

Insight page

Fernando Mendoza

NegativeRole62:35

Fernando Mendoza is expected to start at quarterback for the Raiders, likely following a plan similar to Drake Maye where he takes over after a few games.

Insight page

Isiah Pacheco

PositiveRole41:02

The source believes that if Jahmyr Gibbs were to miss time, Isaiah Pacheco would become a low-end startable running back in the Lions' offense. They do not expect him to split time in that scenario, viewing him as a viable fill-in starter.

Insight page

Jaylen Waddle

NegativeProjection48:04

The source views Jalen Waddle as the WR1 in the Denver offense but is tempered by the presence of Cortland Sutton and Sean Payton's egalitarian approach to pass catchers. While they acknowledge his talent and potential for top-12 upside, they rank him as WR19-20 due to his lack of elite career target share and a crowded receiving room.

Insight page

Jeremiyah Love

PositiveProjection25:35

Jeremiah Love is compared to Bijan Robinson and Christian McCaffrey due to his dual-threat skill set. Despite concerns about the Arizona offense, the source ranks him as an RB10-RB14, citing the historical success of top-12 drafted running backs.

Insight page

Justin Herbert

PositiveProjection33:55

Justin Herbert is ranked as the QB6, with the source highlighting his superior throwing and rushing ability compared to Tua Tagovailoa, and his potential to thrive under the new offensive coordinator.

Insight page

Justin Jefferson

PositiveBreakout44:31

The source is very bullish on a Justin Jefferson bounce-back year, ranking him as the WR4 or WR5. They believe Kyler Murray will get him back on track and argue that Jefferson is a potential steal at his current ADP (around WR7), with the upside to win the triple crown.

Insight page

Keaton Mitchell

NegativeUsage31:28

The source notes that Keaton Mitchell's presence in the Chargers' backfield creates a speed-based threat that could potentially eat into Amari Hampton's workload.

Insight page

Kenneth Gainwell

PositiveValue40:43

The source likes Kenneth Gainwell as a late-round value pick in PPR formats. They highlight his role in Tampa Bay, noting that Baker Mayfield frequently targets the running back position, which should provide Gainwell with significant volume.

Insight page

Kenneth Walker III

PositiveProjection18:26

The source projects Kenneth Walker III as a high-end RB2, noting that a better overall running game in Seattle will benefit him and the team's pass catchers.

Insight page
PositiveProjection25:14

Kenneth Walker III is an RB1 candidate following his move to the Chiefs, where he is expected to handle 250-260 carries and 40-50 receptions. He is an explosive playmaker who ranked RB3 in breakaway runs and RB6 in evaded tackles last year, providing the home-run threat the Chiefs' offense lacked.

Insight page

Ladd McConkey

PositiveBreakout35:06

Ladd McConkey is identified as a potential breakout candidate, drawing comparisons to Jaxon Smith-Njigba's situation due to a new play-caller and a clear path to high target volume.

Insight page

Patrick Mahomes

NegativeProjection41:41

The source ranks Patrick Mahomes as QB8 to QB10, noting that his fantasy value is capped because the Chiefs are likely to limit his rushing attempts to protect him from injury. They express concerns about his recovery, the aging Travis Kelce, and the lack of consistent production from receivers like Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice, leading them to avoid targeting him in drafts.

Insight page

Rashee Rice

NegativeProjection19:02

The source considers Rashee Rice an elite talent, labeling him an 'easy top five wide receiver' when healthy and on the field, but highlights significant red flags regarding off-field behavior and potential league punishment.

Insight page
NegativeProjection30:27

Rashee Rice is considered a top-five wide receiver talent when healthy, but his fantasy outlook is clouded by significant off-field red flags and recovery from knee surgery.

Insight page

Trevor Lawrence

PositiveValue59:26

Trevor Lawrence is considered an incredible value in current drafts, with the team's overall talent and offensive situation working in his favor.

Insight page

Tyler Allgeier

NegativeRole29:01

The source notes that Tyler Allgeier remains a factor in the Arizona backfield, particularly in goal-line situations, which could limit Jeremiah Love's immediate ceiling.

Insight page

Wan'Dale Robinson

PositiveValue61:57

Wan'Dale Robinson is highlighted as a fantastic PPR value who will hold down the slot role, though he is unlikely to reach the 140-target mark from last season.

Insight page

Zach Charbonnet

NegativeInjury22:01

The source expresses uncertainty regarding Zach Charbonnet's recovery timeline and performance level upon return, which creates a window of opportunity for Jadarian Price to secure early-season volume.

0:28Fantasy Football? It's not Fantasy Football season. It's fishing season is what it is.
0:32Oh my gosh. It is Fantasy Football season and I am not prepared.
0:36What am I going to do? I gotta call all my friends.
0:39Field, are you ready for the Start of Fantasy Football season?
0:42Field Yates data initializing. Projections processed. Rankings in place.

0:47Field Yates data complete. I'm ready. Wow, AI field is super locked in already.
0:51All right, I'll call Mike. Mike will know what to do.
0:54Daniel Dopp. More like Daniel. Stop calling me. Hello?
0:56On vacation for the first week of the year.
0:58Of course Mike's on vacation. I'll call Liz. Liz always knows what to do.
1:02Liz, are you ready for the start of the football season?
1:05Hey, Daniel. Um, yes. I have been recording Facts vs.
1:08Feelings for weeks. I am so ready. Are you?
1:10Huh. I am on Facts vs. Feelings every week.
1:13I gotta get ready for the start of the season, though.
1:16It's go time. Ah. Da. Da. Da. Greatest running back of all time.
1:19I'm sure we're ready for the start of the season.
1:22Welcome into Fantasy Focus Football. Welcome into Fantasy Focus Football.
1:25Welcome into Fantasy Focus Football. Field fiddles with fiddlesticks.
1:27Field fiddles with fiddlesticks. Rubby baby bunker. Rubby rubber.
1:29Field fiddles with fiddlesticks. That one works. You can do this, Daniel.
1:33You are ready for the start of the season.
1:35You are prepared. You are good to go. You are the third prettiest person on Fantasy Focus Football after Liz and Field Jake's.
1:41We can do this. It's the start of the season.
1:44You and the 06010 Focus. Friends, welcome into Fantasy Focus Football.
1:47Excited to be back. A little bit of cold open action there.
1:50That was incredible. That was fun, guys. Thank you for leaving in.
1:53Starting the season with an absolute banger. It was a good time.
1:57We always knew that Field was memeable, though. That's terrific.
1:59AI Field, 100%. Oh my goodness. Already locked in, Liz.
2:02You and I have been doing Facts vs. Feelings for a minute.
2:05That is true, actually. So we're ready to kick off Fantasy Focus here, though.
2:09Super pumped. I'm so happy to see your guys' faces.
2:12It has been a minute since I've seen you guys.
2:15Listen, we got a lot of stuff we're going to talk about.
2:18We're going to dive into a bunch of really fun football today.
2:21The biggest storylines of the offseason. We're going to give you a bunch of logistics.
2:25But first, if you guys will just indulge me, I haven't seen you two beautiful people in a minute.
2:30Yeah. Like what happened during your offseason? Give me like two or three things that happened in your life.
2:35Let's see. You know what? We went to Hartford-Yargoats game.
2:38Stop it. You're burying the lead. Did they win?
2:41They did, yeah. I watched several seasons of Love Island.
2:43Okay. Oh, no. I had a kid again. I just cannot stop having children.
2:47Congratulations. Three girls. So yes, a little over a month ago, a month and a day ago, I became a father of
2:53my third daughter, Tatum, who has been absolutely awesome.
2:55It's been the wildest month of our life, for sure.
2:58The jump from two to three is real. If there are parents out there that have three or more children, shout out to you.
3:05It is an absolutely insane adjustment, but we're having a great time.
3:08It's great to be back here on Fantasy Focus.
3:10We've had a very, very fulfilling month. Soup, she's adorable.
3:13I love that. And I will be, I just want to announce, I will be working until I'm 94.
3:18I now have three daughters between weddings, wardrobes, Barbies.
3:20Don't get me started on college. I'm hoping for either a scholarship or like, I don't know.
3:25There's got to be some sort of other solution.
3:28So like we knew obviously that Field and Chapin had welcomed Tatum.
3:31And one of my favorite pictures that you sent was you holding the car seat, like the car seat that locks in.
3:37Casually, he's got this, like a little bit of a tricep showing too in the back.
3:41Not letting yourself go. I mean, obviously, because you've got your third kid.
3:45Yeah, I mean, I don't have a choice. I actually just stay in shape by carrying children at all times.
3:50That's fair. Because the irony is that my four and a half year old, who's, I mean, she now is a runner.
3:56Like we go on runs together. So she's like, that's capable mobility wise.
3:59But she always is like, can you carry me, dad?
4:02I'm like, why? She's like, because you carried the baby.
4:05So we're dealing with all that stuff here. But it's been an awesome month.
4:09So happy to be back, though, guys. And we do go like every day now.
4:13Yes. Until basically the end of time. Until the end of time.
4:16Yeah, we got a lot of that. Nice of Liz to actually show up for work.
4:20Mike Clay is currently, do we think it's on a beach?
4:23He's on an island. Yeah, on an island, on a beach.
4:26Liz, you did your island vacation appropriately earlier in the offseason.
4:29So we appreciate that, that you're here. But tell me about your offseason.
4:33What have you done? Um, it's been awesome. Well, I went to Vegas for the Scott Fish Bowl live, which is an incredible experience.
4:39And then the family and I flew to Seattle to take in a World Cup game.
4:43My son's birthday present. He's very into soccer. He plays on his school's team.
4:47Teenage son. He turned 13. What? It was a very, oh, there we go.
4:51Look at that. That's something. Yes. Me and my glasses and no makeup on.
4:55Thank you very much. Social team. Eating clams and wine.
4:57Also not showing me the picture of us in Hawaii, where I look fantastic and tan, um, took the kids on a snorkel adventure.
5:04We did a zip. There we go. Oh, look at it.
5:07A zip lining adventure. My little one, my nine-year-old did nine zip lines, two of which were half a mile long.
5:13She was the first one to jump. I was so proud.
5:16And then we, we, uh, paddled around a waterfall, but it was mostly the big one and the little one and me in the middle on the paddleboard.
5:23Also working my triceps so that we could fall out and fall down the waterfall.
5:27But yes, it was an awesome eventful. I love that.
5:30The perks of living in LA. Hawaii is not like for us right now.
5:34Hawaii is like the odyssey to get out. That's right.
5:36And my dad's from Hawaii. I would love to go back there with my family.
5:40And it's just like, yeah, good luck getting my kids on a trip.
5:44It takes less time for me to fly to Hawaii.
5:47That's fair. For me to fly to Connecticut. I'm just saying.
5:50So besides fishing, Daniel, what did you do this off-season?
5:52So first off, for what it's worth, I did take up fishing.
5:56And I want to give a big shout out to my buddy, Ray Scott at Yakety Yak Kayaks in Seaside Park, New
6:02Jersey, as well as my buddy, Ray, who works at Grumpy's Tackle.
6:05Ray, lifelong diehard Cowboys fan. The man bleeds that blue star.
6:08His two kids are actually named Troy and Emmett.
6:10Come on. After that, yeah. So huge diehard Cowboys fan.
6:13But big shout out to those two guys that hooked me up because I have been fishing a lot.
6:18I just did a whole... You guys know I don't always do social media super well.
6:22Yeah. I did a big disconnect. So I was just like, I want to go somewhere where I'm not doing stuff.
6:28Oh, you got off the grid? I got off the grid a little bit.
6:32So you stopped answering texts? Most of the time.
6:34Really new vibe. Really new thing for me. I also went on tour, which most of you guys know because I talked about it incessantly.
6:41But I went out with my buddies in the band Emory.
6:44Did a little over 4,000 miles. It was a ton of fun from Bloomington, Indiana to Jackson, Mississippi, all the way up
6:50to Quebec, all the way on the East Coast.
6:52Did a festival up there and back down. So it was a blast.
6:56Just a really great time. And now we're here.
6:58And now we're ready. We're back five days a week.
7:01Field, like you said, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.
7:03Eastern time, 7 a.m. Liz Loza time in case you live over in the West Coast.
7:08You can find us a million different places, by the way.
7:11You ready for this? Live on the NFL on ESPN YouTube page.
7:14You can find us on the ESPN Fantasy app live.
7:17You can find us live on the ESPN app.
7:19We're also live on Facebook. You can find us everywhere that you listen to podcasts, Apple, Spotify, iHeart.
7:24Just you name it, we are there. And you can catch us on ESPN 2 every Wednesday this offseason, which is going
7:30to be really great being able to have those shows on E2.
7:33And then we'll get into a regular season cadence on E2 as well.
7:37So a lot of places to be able to catch us as you are coming back, getting ready for fantasy football season.
7:43And how about a big shout out to our buddy Eric Moody as well, who was in the chat.
7:48We love it. If you guys could hang out in our YouTube chat, ask a ton of questions.
7:53And with all the things going on, guys, it's important that we let you know live on August 20th in New York
7:59City, we are doing a live show. Let's go.
8:01It's going to be a ton of fun. Me, Liz, Field, and Mike Clay are going to be there.
8:06It is going to be a blast. Go to fantasyfocuslive.com for all of the details that you need.
8:11And honestly, last thing, we have a mock draft tomorrow.
8:14It's going to be a ton of fun. So a little bit of prep for that.
8:18Mock drafts are always a blast because I love being able to just hear your guys' thought process while you're making your decisions.
8:24But I think that's all the logistics. Got a bunch of this stuff out of the way.
8:29We're going to continue to have fun. We'll take some questions a little later on in the show.
8:34As you know, managing maintenance, repair, and operations is never easy.

8:56Call 1-800-GRAINGER, clickgrainger.com, or just stop by. Let's dive into the 10 biggest storylines of the off-season field jates.
9:01It's kind of tough to narrow it down just to 10 different things that happened.
9:05We did our best, though. We did our best.
9:07And we're going to start with the one that took a while to actually get done.
9:11But AJ Brown is officially a patron. I want to apologize to those that are watching the show right now.
9:17If you see me staring at my phone right here throughout the show, there's a reason why.
9:21Is that we are in the same studio as last year.
9:24We have new microphones. These are on sort of wheelies.
9:27And I had a cup of tea. I'm trying to, in my three-kid world, trying to keep my caffeine intake steady, but not drink too much coffee.
9:34Okay. Had a cup of tea. Immediately nailed it.
9:37Knocked it over. Complete moron move. Thankfully, we cleaned it up.
9:40It was literally a group effort. Yes. Like six minutes before the show.
9:43So I have no more paper notes. Those got washed out.
9:46But I do have my phone. And then five minutes before the show, Liz spilled her drink immediately after you did.
9:52You didn't throw her under the bus? You're season for all of them.
9:56All right. We're talking high. All right. AJ Brown, officially a Patriot.
9:59The deal got done after June 1st for salary cap reasons.
10:02The Eagles got nothing for this year back. There's no player going back.
10:05There was no draft pick in the 2026 draft.
10:08It is a first-round pick in 2028, plus a 2027 fifth-round pick.
10:11Sort of a salary dump. Philly feels like they can get better.
10:14Let's talk about the A.J. Brown side of it, guys, though.
10:17But the Patriots and their offensive coordinator, Josh McDaniels, has already said that AJ Brown's closest comparison that he can kind of
10:23come up with was Gronk, who, of course, was a tight end.
10:26AJ Brown gives the Patriots their best receiver, I think at least physically most talented receiver since Randy Moss.
10:31Yes. They haven't had a great run of receivers since then, but they've had guys like Julian Edelman who are very different body types.
10:38But AJ Brown, one of the best deep threats in the NFL.
10:41There's a trivia here. I was sort of stunned by this number.
10:44What do you think the average length of AJ Brown's touchdown catches is in his career?
10:49I'm going to say 14.5 yards. Oh, I was going to say 18.7.
10:52Okay, both of you not quite there. 26.5. 26?
10:55I was wondering if it was over 20, because we know that he is consistently hitting those marks over 20 yards.
11:00Amongst the best deep threats in the NFL, Drake May led the NFL in deep completion percentage last year.
11:06One of the best deep ball throwers, not just in the NFL now, but over the past call a decade or so.
11:11He had seven games last year with a 30 plus yard touchdown pass.
11:15The upgrade from Kayshaun Booty and Kyle Williams to AJ Brown is that deep threat for the Patriots is real.
11:20They paid a big price for him. He's the most talented receiver they have on the team.
11:25Drake May is a stud. AJ Brown checks in his wide receiver 10 for me.
11:29I think that's about right. I think I have him ranked similarly.
11:32I love the, as you're pointing out, the marriage of skill sets between this receiver and this quarterback for the exact reasons you pointed out.
11:39Also 102 targets vacated with Stefan Diggs no longer on the field.
11:42And remember, Diggs was working back from that ACL injury.
11:45So his snaps were being managed. So there should be more volume there, especially when accounting for the addition of Romeo Dobbs as well.
11:51I am a little bit curious about this Kayshaun Booty hype in camp.
11:55It wasn't Kyle Williams. He hasn't been making the noise that we thought maybe it was.
11:59And there were certainly some trade rumors buzzing around Booty, but he seems to be showing out at camp.
12:04I'm not saying obviously that he's going to be a draftable option, but just someone to maybe listen for a drumbeat on as we progress.
12:11But as far as AJ Brown, wide receiver 10 for me as well.
12:15I've got him at wide receiver eight. And I love everything that you guys just mentioned because marrying Drake May's deep ball
12:21ability with the skill set that AJ Brown has just feels like a match made in heaven for this offense.
12:26So I think we're in a really great spot there.
12:29How about the Eagles? Like, are you optimistic now?
12:31Like, is Devontae Smith ready for prime time? This was the Heisman Trophy winner.
12:35First round pick. I don't think he's not ready for prime time field, but I also don't think that he's going to
12:41vault into that, like wide receiver 12, low end wide receiver one status.
12:44He's still in that Eagles offense, right? Yeah. They add Mekhi Lemon in the draft.
12:48We can talk about him and all the things, you know, why they decided to bring him in.
12:53When they made that move, it was the writing on the wall.
12:57We all knew that AJ Brown was gone as soon as they drafted Mekhi Lemon, right?
13:01But I do feel like with Devontae Smith, I've got him right in the middle, probably like wide receiver 16.
13:06And I think that's fairly like where I'm going to see him more often than not.
13:11He will be the guy in this offense. I'm not that worried, even though they added Dontavian Wicks also in the offseason
13:17and they added Eli Stowers eventually to take over for that Dallas gutter.
13:20They've got some pass catchers there, but I still feel like Devontae Smith is kind of where he was, to be honest, even before AJ Brown got traded.
13:28He was in that wide receiver 15 to 20 to 25 range week in and week out.
13:32I don't think that really changes. Any thoughts, Liz?
13:35Wide receiver 15 range. I'm worried about the skill set of, I don't believe that Devontae Smith has a traditional alpha skill set.
13:41I do think he'll see 120 targets. And I think he benefited, frankly, from AJ Brown on the opposite side of the field to work as a compliment.
13:48Nick Sirianni said himself that in order to replace the 100 plus targets that AJ Brown left, he was going to have to use everyone.
13:55Regardless, I do think Smith will lead the way.
13:58I'm just not sure he's going to be this top automatic.
14:01It's not going to be a copy and paste situation.
14:03He's not going to automatically replace what AJ Brown did.
14:06They're very different players in terms of skill sets.
14:08But again, I think probably 120 targets. Yeah, I think I'm in the same range as you guys.
14:13So a strong wide receiver too. And the reason why I'm not in like the top 10 range from Devontae Smith, which
14:19I think is a not unreasonable thing for someone to want to leap to is, if you look at the guys inside
14:25my top 10 rankings for wide receivers, I would say other than Rashi Rice, who I think kind of makes his way
14:31into the top 10 in part because of the circumstance.
14:34Like I don't think Rashi Rice is some premier wide receiver talent.
14:37He just absolutely soaks up targets. We're going to talk about him in just a minute.
14:41Yeah, we will. Devontae Smith is like a cut below an AJ Brown, a Drake London, Justin Jefferson, of course.
14:47I'm on Ross St. Brown. These guys that are just supernova wide receiver talent.
14:51So Devontae Smith a little bit lower. Plus guys like question marks about Jalen Hurts.
14:55He stunk. Last season is the thrower stunk. Now, optimism because of this new offensive system, which does seem like it's going
15:01to feature more of a rhythm and timing passing game, but not enough for me to push Devontae Smith into the top 12 of my wide receivers.
15:08I'm with you on that. All right, let's move ahead and talk about kind of you alluded to it, the Kansas City Chiefs.
15:14Big news here is Ken Walker III coming over to this offense.
15:17And there's some things with KW3. Liz and I talked about this on Facts vs.
15:21Feelings last week. The good news with Ken Walker III last year, 1,300 yards from scrimmage most of his career.
15:27Played 17 games. That's the first time that's happened.
15:29We love being able to see that, but he was only running back 22, in part because Zach Charbonnet just stole all
15:35the goal line work, scored all the touchdowns in that offense.
15:38But we saw how good he was in the playoffs.
15:41We saw that Super Bowl run. And now that he's going to be the lead guy in this Kansas City offense field,
15:47there's a lot of different moving parts here because you got the Mahomes returning from injury.
15:51You got the wide receivers that we've been talking about.
15:54Travis Kelsey is another year older. When you look at Ken Walker III, how high is too high when you're looking at
16:00ranking this guy being what this offense could be?
16:02I think if you put him RB8, that would be too high.
16:05But Adam is RB9. Okay. RB9 for me is Ken Walker III.
16:09So there are a lot of things working in this field.
16:12True RB1 though. Yeah. I mean, he got a big contract.
16:15He's a very talented player. It always felt like Seattle was not ready to fully embrace Kenneth Walker III because there are
16:21elements of his game that I think will, could drive a running backs coach or even offensive coordinator a little bit bonkers.
16:27One thing that Ken is very focused on and this has been one of his great strengths and perhaps a limitation is
16:32he always wants to hit a home run, right?
16:35Like he's like a baseball player. It's like he either smash it out of the park or strikes out.
16:40Yep. Has a four yard opportunity, bounces it outside, turns it into a one yard opportunity, right?
16:45The Chiefs are desperate for home runs right now.
16:47The Chiefs had one running back rush. One of 20 yards last year.
16:5120 yards. Like that's not that far in the NFL.
16:53And they had one run from a running back last year of 20 plus yards.
16:57So they had one of the most explosive backs in the NFL.
17:01And I was an Abbott Johnson fan. It's their fifth round pick out of Nebraska, but not enough that I'm sitting there
17:07going to myself like, wait, Kenneth Walker III got this money.
17:09He doesn't have to share carries. Like, no, he's got a clear path to, I always have to do the math now because it's a 17 game season.
17:17Like you could easily push 250, 260 carries for Kenneth Walker III.
17:20Yeah. Fully capable as a pass catcher as well.
17:23I think 40 to 50 catches in range. I think he's an RB1.
17:26I'm on the lower end of that because last year was the first time he actually managed a full 17 game slate.
17:32So it was a little bit of a durability concern there.
17:35Fair. But I agree with you that the thing that he does the best is explosive play.
17:40I think he was the RB3 in breakaway runs and the RB6 in evaded tackles last year.
17:44And as you mentioned, the Chiefs were desperate to invigorate this otherwise listless running game.
17:48And by extension, his presence takes some pressure off of Mahomes, especially coming off of the knee injury.
17:53So there should be less scrambling. We like that.
17:56It opens up the middle of the field for Travis Kelsey, probably in his last season.
18:00And also, I think as it pertains to Rashe Rice, there's some play action opportunities that he could benefit from as well
18:06with defenders keying in on KW3 as well. So holistically, I like it for KW3.
18:10High end RB2 for me. Yeah. And I like it for the pass catchers because if, I mean, just like any other
18:16football team, if you have a better running game, it's going to make it easier for your pass catching across the board, period.
18:22And with Patrick Mahomes coming back from that ACL injury, Fields, you had started to talk about Rashe Rice.
18:27He's a, I think he's an easy top five wide receiver when he's healthy and on the field.
18:32The problem is he's had some concerns off the field.
18:35Dude was in jail this off season recovering from knee surgery.
18:38Yes. So there's definitely, there's red flags, not just yellow flags, there's red flags.
18:42When the guy's out there, he's one of the best wide receivers in fantasy football.
18:46Do you feel like he's one of those guys that you would want to try to stay away from in drafts?
18:51Are you like, you know what? He's still a good value to me.
18:55I like what, I like his skill set. I like what he does.
18:58I've been drafting him as normal so far. Okay.
19:01On Saturday, we did the back together football weekend show and Shefty was on there and he was talking about how like,
19:07he did not in his response to questions about Rashe Rice's availability make it seem like he is anticipating punishment sometime soon.
19:13We will see until, you know, until the NFL has concluded its own investigation and said one way or the other we don't know.
19:19Last off season, we were bracing for some sort of punishment and we eventually got that significant punishment for Rashe Rice.
19:25To be clear, he's a greater risk than other wide receivers in the top 10 for not just, I don't think he's
19:31as talented as a Drake London or Malik Nabors but also like, the guy needs to put it together off the field as well.
19:37I have a point where you have enough off the field things where you're wondering is the next one going to be
19:43the one that costs me the fantasy manager how many games?
19:46He's got to make a choice like as an individual.
19:49If he stays healthy and stays behaved, he's got a chance to make 30 plus million dollars per year.
19:54If he doesn't, then he might be out of the league in two seasons.
19:58That's the choice that he has to make. I think the Chiefs side is fairly straightforward on the running back front.
20:03I'm not totally certain what to do with Jadarian Price yet, Daniel.
20:07I want to hear your thoughts on how high you guys are or maybe not.
20:11I got thoughts. So I would love to give you my thoughts.
20:14I'd love for Liz to go first but I want to hear from you because you did first draft with Mel and Greeny obviously the entire time.
20:21So when you're looking at Jadarian Price coming out of the draft, what can you tell us in case we didn't watch enough college football?
20:28So I mean, it's tough to like, it's tough when the other running back is Jeremiah Love.
20:33He was a true backup running back for Notre Dame.
20:35He was also a kick return maven for Notre Dame.
20:38He did not handle much work. He had one game with 15 carries in his career.
20:4215. He never had more than 15 carries in his career.
20:45So he had the fresh leg benefit. He had the benefit of, you know, defenses are keying in on him much differently than were Jeremiah Love.
20:52In college football, as we know, you're seeing great variants week in and week out in terms of competition.
20:58He's an excellent peer runner. Like he is a fun guy to watch.
21:01He's powerful. He's strong. He is fast as all get up.
21:04The pre-draft process is really good to him. There's a little bit of a chicken versus egg situation though with him as a pass catcher.
21:11Six catches last year for Jadarian Price. Six. Six.
21:13Total. That's like a game for Jeremiah Love. Now the question is, is that because Jadarian Price isn't capable of catching the football effectively?
21:20Or is it because, oh yeah, if we're going to throw the ball to a running back, we're going to throw it
21:26to the guy who went third overall in the draft.
21:28Right. So I have him as RB25 on Jadarian Price.
21:31But that's sort of a pass catcher plus a little bit of accounting for eventually Zach Charbonnet being in the mix and
21:37maybe Emmanuel Wilson being good enough to take a little bit of work out of the way early.
21:42Are you guys more optimistic? I am more optimistic.
21:44I don't think he's just a passive option when compared to Jeremiah Love.
21:48I do understand and we also have to recognize that this year's draft class was pretty weak at the position in terms of overall talent.
21:55So all of that being said, Price did score on a higher percentage of his carries in 2025 than Love behind the same offensive line.
22:01And you did mention the Zach Charbonnet situation. His timeline from his recovery timeline does make Price a little bit tricky because
22:07we're not quite sure the volume that he's going to receive.
22:10But also, he's on an offense that managed to win the Super Bowl with the third highest rushing rate.
22:15Why would they change that? Right? So Price is going to get his.
22:19I do like him as a low-end RB, too.
22:21And he's great value where he's going in a draft, by the way, a fantasy draft, by the way, where the position dries up so quickly.
22:28Who is it ever? I'm with you. I'm with Liz and I'm even higher on Price than Liz is.
22:33I've got him as running back 19 inside my top 20.
22:36A part of that is the idea that the guys behind him I'm not worried about.
22:41I'm not seeing you mentioned Emmanuel Wilson, George Alani, like those guys just don't scare me from that perspective.
22:46And you look at what the Seattle running backs have done.
22:49Ken Walker III was a top 20 running back for two of the last three years was Zach Charbonnet.
22:54Wasn't last year because Charbonnet stole all of those touchdowns.
22:57But now we're going to have half of a season without Zach Charbonnet.
23:00And I'm using half of a season as air quotes.
23:03We're not sure how much time he's going to miss.
23:06Are you pointing out the difference between return to sport versus return to Yes, even once he comes back he's going to
23:12have to be able to return to that performance level.
23:14So there's a rush that needs to occur. So like, yes, there is a chance that like down the stretch I think
23:20Jadarian Price could maybe lose a little bit of value while Zach Charbonnet ramps back up.
23:25But beginning of the season, middle of the season, I think there's enough value that he's going to deliver RB2 numbers and
23:30I've got him inside my top 20 because of that.
23:33Can I follow up on that just strategically speaking?
23:36Because I feel like the quick narrative is to say that Price is going to be a sell high guy, right?
23:41Like you can hear every fantasy analyst saying well you're just going to have to sell you have to figure out before Zach Charbonnet comes back.
23:48Figure it out. But if everybody knows that how effective is that strategy?
23:52Great question. Probably not very effective. And I honestly, with where this kid landed and the way that Seattle wants to run
23:58the football with how often they ran the football last year and they don't have Zach Charbonnet to do it with, it's
24:04going to be Jadarian Price and two dudes. And I say that more disparagingly than I mean.
24:08But like it's just average guys. Two guys. I'm in.
24:11Yeah, I don't. Dudes is more of a positive term.
24:14Dudes feels like yes. Just two guys. You're right.
24:16But I am in on Jadarian Price because of that.
24:19So I'm interested to see. You've got him as running back 25.
24:2225. Yeah, 25. And by the way, it's not all that different.
24:25But you know, I think we're all on the RB2, depending on how your draft falls and the number of people in your league RB3 flex area.
24:33So we do, by the way, we have rankings throughout the rest of the week.
24:37We're going to talk about why I think tiers are valuable.
24:40I have my tiers dropping. And another thing that I think we're going to try to key in on more during the
24:46preseason is not just ranking players by position, but also giving you context on like the next player that we're going to
24:52talk about feels low in his positional rankings. For me, I'm sure people will be like that.
24:56That is way lower than most of your colleagues.
24:59That's correct. But relative to all other positions, it's still high enough that I can reinforce that I believe in the talent.
25:05So we're going to talk about not just where he fits amongst running backs, but where like if you're doing a Brock
25:10Bowers versus Justin Jefferson conversation, like that's a really important one.
25:13If you're at the back end of the first round or you're at the beginning of the second round, like you're not getting Brock Bowers.
25:20If you don't take him at pick, if you're in a 12 team, if you don't take him at 13, you're not
25:26getting Brock Bowers at the end of the third round.
25:29These are important conversations for us to have that we will vet out over the next five weeks.
25:34Well, we just dove into Jadarian Price after that.
25:36Let's talk about the other rookie running back that everyone's more excited about field.
25:40I was a little bit confused from, and we're not a football show.
25:43We're a fantasy show. I was a little confused from a football perspective, but I do want to know Jeremiah Love, what
25:49made him the number three overall pick by the Arizona Cardinals?
25:52What is it that he brings to the table?
25:55Everything. There's really no hole in his game. He is like Bijan Robinson.
25:58We've had a couple of running backs in recent years that were categorized as like sort of can't miss top end prospects for their position.
26:05Beachon and also Ashton Gentry. Jameer Gibbs has emerged as that, but Jameer was not being regarded in that same light when
26:11he came out of Alabama just a few years ago.
26:14Jeremiah Love, think of him like Beachon Robinson and more like Beachon Robinson than Ashton Gentry.
26:18I think Ashton Gentry can get to huge fantasy heights.
26:21I think it's more down like Gentry if he becomes a top five running back is more in the Jonathan Taylor model
26:27where it's like absolutely slay as a rusher and maybe add 30 to 40 catches.
26:31He's both Jonathan Taylor and Ashton Gentry are capable pass catchers.
26:34Their best value was just dominating as a runner.
26:36Jeremiah Love can be like Beachon in which he rushes for a thousand plus yards but also snags 75 catches.
26:42I just have questions about how quickly it's going to happen in Arizona because have you guys seen this team?
26:47Yes. This team is, I want to say they're over DraftKings Sportsbook favorites, I'm sorry, underdogs in every game but one this upcoming year.
26:53I believe the projected win total is three and a half.
26:56Okay, so it's lowest in the NFL like people are already jersey swapping Dante Moore into Arizona uniforms for next year like
27:02it's going to be a bad year. The offensive line is fine.
27:06It's not, I mean it's fine at best. I'm not like super optimistic about the offensive line.
27:10I don't think that this offense is going to be scoring a ton of touchdowns other than maybe in garbage time.
27:16And there are some good numbers to support top 10 running backs in their rookie seasons.
27:20Over the past 15 years you've seen top 10 rookie running backs top 10 picks average 17.4 fantasy points per game.
27:26There have been some useful ones for sure like Saquon was unbelievable as a rookie.
27:30We've also seen a lot of just like pretty solid guys like examples Ashton Gentry RB15 last year on a points per game basis.
27:36Bijan RB17 as a rookie. Christian McCaffrey RB13 as a rookie.
27:39So we've seen guys that have similar skill sets to him Bijan and CMC those are like models for Jeremiah Love have just kind of average rookie seasons.
27:47I have him as RB14 I have him as the 25th player overall.
27:50So I still think he is deserving of being a top three round pick and he'll be going much earlier than 25th overall.
27:57I'm just concerned about this being a hot mess offense.
27:59Yeah. I do think it's going to be a hot mess offense but I also think that because of his formats he
28:05can perform he's my RB10 and it's interesting that you say like these are average performances.
28:10Ashton Gentty yes 14 fantasy points per game is an average performance also in the top 11 players at the position by the end of the season.
28:17The last nine running backs drafted in the top 12 of the NFL draft all finished top 12 in fantasy points as a rookie.
28:23So 12 team league you finish 12 that's an RB1 especially with the disparity at the position right now.
28:29So RB10 for me PPR friendly format. I love it.
28:31Also I love that you mentioned the skill set 40 scrimmage touchdowns over his last two collegiate ridiculous incredible.
28:36The one thing that does give me maybe a little bit of hope about this offense is that Jacoby Brissett has shown
28:42garbage time like he's a garbage time king. Right.
28:45So he might be too much of one like they might have to play Carson Beck.
28:49Well that's a possibility. That's if you're in garbage and new head coach Michael floor obviously also record number of head coaching vacancies.
28:55Lots of changes in that. Last thing I want to mention is I should have mentioned this much sooner is like they
29:01began their offseason signing Tyler Algier to a two year 13 million dollar contract.
29:05Yes. Buzzing camp as well. And you know I don't put too much stock into preseason depth charts.
29:10They're going to always put rookies low but like I don't think Tyler Algier is going to just collect dust all year.
29:16If they're on the goal line I think there's a really good chance that Tyler Algier is going to get first crack.
29:22James Connor for now is still on the roster.
29:24We'll see how that and Trey Benson's future shakes out.
29:27But it's not like Jeremiah Love part of the thought process behind Ashton Gentile last year which to be clear we were
29:33too optimistic on Ashton Gentile was like that running back room stinks.
29:36It's awful. Jeremiah Love goes into a solid running back room like I mean it's a decent running back room at least.
29:42So I have some questions about the overall utilization.
29:44I have some questions about the offense but I love the player so I do have him as a top 25 player on the overall board.
29:51All right. We had a coaching change and offensive coordinator change actually in Los Angeles with the Chargers.
29:56Mike McDaniel comes over a couple layers here that we can talk about with this one and I want to start with
30:02Omari and Hampton because I think he's going to be the highest drafted Charger here.
30:06That hype train is rolling. It feels like right now earlier this offseason he was in the running back 12 to 13 range for a lot of us.
30:14Now he has moved up for a lot of ESPN rankers inside the top 10 and I am curious Liz Loza I
30:20want to start with you when you look at Omari in Hampton.
30:23Has the hype train gone too far or are you in on him being an RB1 for fantasy squads this year?
30:29I do have him ranked as an RB1. We look at the offensive line both Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater cleared for practice back in the game.
30:36O-line is healthy. Also obviously you mentioned McDaniel like all McDaniel is fascinating to me because he is as innovative a play
30:42caller and as creative a run game genius as he is awkward public speaker.
30:46So those things can live at the same all the things can be true at the same time.
30:51But we also have the the addition of blocking tight end Charlie Kohler coming over.
30:55I believe now he's the highest paid blocking tight end in NFL history.
30:58So there is some clear indication of how he's going to be used though especially with that sort of investment.
31:04All of those things lead me to believe that Hampton who last year coming out reminded me a lot of David Montgomery
31:10in terms of a skill set could really perform when all of the pieces come together and he's you know hopefully going
31:16to stay healthy unlike last year when he was hampered by that ankle issue.
31:19Yeah I feel like negative Nancy. I have him as RB 13 so a little bit lower than Liz.
31:24There's one thing that I keep coming back to with Amari and Hampton.
31:28One thing. Two years and 10 million dollars might have been 12 for Keaton Mitchell.
31:32That's I knew you were going to say that.
31:34This is like one of those signings I just can't let go of and Mike McDaniel teams are so good about behind
31:40the scenes content now and Mike McDaniel has made it it's been made very clear like the reason why Keaton Mitchell is
31:46a charger is because Mike McDaniel wanted him. What does Mike McDaniel love more than anything in a player?
31:51Speed. Keaton Mitchell flat out flies. Hampton really can run too for a guy of his stature who's a 4-4-4 guy at 220 pounds.
31:58He's a beast but Keaton Mitchell is like different level of speed.
32:01That's I can't quite get that out of my cross.
32:04That's why I'm a little bit lower on Amari.
32:06Running back 13 there. Running back 13. The player I'm most excited about in this offense.
32:11Hold on. Okay. No. Because I have him as a Wow.
32:14Whoa. Hold your horses. Let's go. I love it.
32:16I got Amari and Hampton all the way up at RB5.
32:19Five of his nine games as a rookie has healthy games.
32:22He was a top 20 running back. Three of those games.
32:25He was a top 10 running back. So in a third of his games as a rookie, he was a top 10 running back.
32:31Tasty. Showed incredible pass catching ability which is something that I really like as well.
32:35Four of his games. He had five or more catches which is great.
32:39Tons of ability within that pass catching ability and you bring in Mike McDaniel and you give me all that goal line
32:45work and I think this offense takes another step.
32:47I get Keaton Mitchell. I look at it though as a team mismanaging their salary cap.
32:52Then I'm worried about it being a Overspending in Los Angeles?
32:55Never. I think that's the way that I look at it.
32:58So I am all in. I am very high on Amari and Hampton have him as RB5 right now.
33:03I freaking love that. By the way, you have to sign a contract for at least five million dollars to afford a one bedroom in Los Angeles.
33:10So that's the actual reason why there's a lot of other parts.
33:13Liz can speak to that much more than I can.
33:16That's true. Yeah. Liz is renting out her second house for a little under two and a half million a year.
33:22So false. No, I'm not renting out anything. Do you think I know how to clean a gutter like be a project manager?
33:28I try that. Can you see me on a ladder like fixing things?
33:31I tried that this offseason. OK. Let's just say DIY not my strength.
33:35A lot of other pieces though. Justin Herbert, Lad McConkie, Quinton Johnston.
33:38How are you approaching this Chargers offense? No Keenan Allen.
33:41Yeah. We'll see if that, you know, that could see a classic like end of training.
33:45Late signing. I'm back. I'm still sorting through the wide receivers.
33:48Lad McConkie, clearly the number one amongst the guys were ranked right now.
33:52But again, the player that I'm most excited about is Justin Herbert.
33:55Tua Tungavailoa has become radioactive. He is in a battle to win the, I think he will win, but he's in a
34:01battle to become the Falcon starting quarterback. He was not good.
34:04The Dolphins took on the largest cap hit of dead money ever in the lead to get rid of him.
34:09And he's still in a battle. He was freaking awesome for a couple of years there for Fantasy Purple.
34:14He led the NFL in passing yards than Tua for a full season.
34:18He had a lot of highs there with Mike McDaniel.
34:21Justin Herbert is a better thrower than Tua. He's a far better runner than Tua.
34:25And I think that the supporting cast is not as good, but the offensive coordinator is good enough that I've got Justin
34:31Herbert all the way up as quarterback six. He's an excellent runner.
34:34I had seven games last year in which Justin Herbert threw for at least 225 passing yards and ran for 30 or more yards.
34:40Now, some of that's scrambling, but still it's a tool he's got at his disposal.
34:44I've got Herbert way up there as quarterback six ahead of the likes of Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, Jackson Dart.
34:50So optimistic on Herbo this year. I love that.
34:52That must be value also in ADP. Yeah, the ADP draft that if you've got him at six, you could wait and get like target him.
34:59Round. Yeah. Yeah. We've talked about him a bunch too.
35:02I do want to mention something about Lad McConkie really quickly if we can.
35:06Bring it. Only because I'm sure that we all get asked all the time, like who is this year's JSN going to be?
35:12Yep. Right? And I am not all because that was last year's surprise.
35:15So who's it going to be this year? Now, I don't think every year, obviously we know, can't copy and paste.
35:21But if you look at the circumstances that allowed for JSN's breakout, third year player, that gone, new play caller, heavily targeted
35:27since his rookie season, all of those apply to Lad McConkie as well.
35:31So I do think he is an interesting breakout.
35:33And because he kind of slumped in his sophomore effort, there's a value, there's a discount that you can get to him.
35:39So if you feel like throwing a dart, and it sounds like we're all high on the Chargers heading into this season
35:45because of the offensive line, because of the offensive coordinator changes.
35:48I definitely would like a piece of this offense if I can get it.
35:52One we want to invest in that still is being discounted maybe outside of Hampton because of last year's slump.
35:57Yeah. All right, let's move and talk about DJ Moore being traded to the Bills.
36:01Chicago's offense is now adjusting, Liz. It looks like we got that trio, that Roma Dunze, Colston Loveland and Luther Burden trio.
36:07As our resident Bears fan, can you just help us kind of like decipher what it is that we should be doing with these pass catchers in fantasy?
36:15Well, you can decide if you want proven talent and a traditional alpha with Rome or a potential wildly efficient breakout candidate
36:21in Luther or scrap that and just invest in the tight end.
36:24Colston Loveland out of Bliss, Idaho. I love this kid.
36:27I think I have him as I think my tight end three on the season.
36:31That is the place that I'm going. Now, you're going to have to pay up.
36:35If you don't want to draft a tight end early, then he's not for you because he's going around the fourth round.
36:41Sure. So, Liz, good call there. I was going to say the headline is DJ Moore gets traded to the Buffalo.
36:46We'll talk about the Buffalo side in a minute, but my biggest takeaway I think there's more takeaways for Chicago than yeah.
36:52Yes. Colston Love is my guy this year. He's the one I'm walking away with the most in drafts right really now he's at tight end three.
36:59It's going to be hard to crack that top two tight ends Brock Bowers and course, Jerry McBride playing a different game
37:05right now, but this is why overall rankings are so important.
37:08If you go to an ESPN doesn't have an average of every one of our rankers top 100 top 150, but if
37:14you just go look across the board and others Mike and I think Carabelle and Tristan have theirs up already Colston Love
37:20and way higher in mind than other people. I think I haven't like 34th overall right now.
37:25Wow. This guy's an absolute star. He looks like the next great tight end in the NFL.
37:29He was ridiculous for the Bears when he got the opportunities last year.
37:33This trade was a confidence boost to or maybe a confidence shout out to him and Colston and excuse me, Luther Byrd in the third and Roma Dunze.
37:41I've got both of those guys in my top 30 for wide receivers, but my headline is Colston Love.
37:46That's my headline here. I'm all in on that player.
37:48Also, if you cannot decide between the two wide receivers, you don't need to and you also don't have to invest in
37:54Love and I just want to say this in terms of strategizing for the draft over the past decade with the exception
38:00of Tyreek Hill, number one wide receivers who shared the field with tight ends averaging 15 or more fantasy points per game.
38:06All were pushed outside of the top 15 fantasy producers at the position.
38:10So basically it's hard to have an elite tight end and an elite wide receiver unless you're Travis Kelsey and Tyreek.
38:15Exactly. If you think that Loveland is going to be elite, these two wide receivers are not for you.
38:21That'd be discounted accordingly. On the bill side, DJ Moore is an interesting one.
38:24I think he's a really good player and he reunites with Joe Brady where he played probably his best football.
38:30I'm glad that you started this way because my question was basically, do you think he's a premier wide receiver still?
38:35I don't think he's a premier wide receiver. I also don't, like Buffalo, Joe Brady talks all the time about everybody's got to eat.
38:42I thought it was a really good return for Chicago.
38:45I thought a two for DJ Moore was surprising candidly.
38:47So I had DJ Moore as wide receiver 27.
38:50Josh Allen's going to get his as a runner.
38:52Yeah. James Cook led the NFL in rushing last year.
38:55He got a lot of guys in that offense.
38:57In some ways, trading a second round pick for a guy making $28 million a year is like, oh my gosh, could
39:03this be like, could he step into a Devante Smith type value?
39:06I'm not there yet. I still have him as wide receiver 27.
39:10I also think the trade was more for Josh Allen to give him a surefire vetted, reliable, go-to receiver that you could
39:16trust, especially downfield, which was something Buffalo didn't have.
39:18So if you look at it in terms of trying to capitalize on this generational talent that you have a quarterback in
39:24the Super Bowl window at your avail, just give him someone reliable.
39:27Yeah. Hopefully that will work out for everybody. He's pretty cheap right now if you want to go after DJ Moore.
39:33He's not considerably expensive based on his ADP. He'll draw 100 targets.
39:36Exactly. He's going to be the wide receiver one in that offense.
39:39But I do think that his days of being a low end wide receiver one, high end wide receiver two are behind him.
39:46It does feel like we're in a different spot.
39:48Agreed. All right. Before we move on, we want to take a couple of questions from chat.
39:53Shout out to our buddy Eric Moody. Make sure that you follow him at Eric and Moody.
39:57He's answering all our questions, hanging out with the people.
40:00This first one comes from Chris S. 6, 2, 7, 0.
40:03A lot of running back handcuffs this year. Any specific ones to keep an eye on?
40:07Feels like a lot of backfields are going to be splitting carries to start the season.
40:12Common on guy. Common on guy. It's field. I'm with you on that.
40:15Common on guy. I know he's currently dealing with some sort of soft tissue thing right now in training camp.
40:21Not worried about it at all. Every, every couple of years we have sort of a backup running back just overtake the
40:26starter during the middle of the season. The starter is not a bad player.
40:30It's the backup is just that good. Common on guy.
40:33That's my name. My favorite, my favorite running back.
40:35Ben Johnson. All he pipped him once. That's right.
40:38That's right. I really like Kenneth Gainwell. Really late as a value pick in PPR friendly formats coming off of a career
40:44season replacing the Rashad Wright white role in Tampa Bay.
40:46Baker Mayfield loves to use the safety of Alv.
40:49I believe he targeted the running back position eight or nine, the eight or nine most times at for quarterbacks last season.
40:55So I think he's going to see a lot of volume there.
40:58And I would have picked both of those two running backs to be honest.
41:02I will say that and you can call me a homer here.
41:05I think that if anything were to happen, Jameer Gibbs, Isaiah Pacheco would become a low end startable running back in this Lions offense.
41:12I don't expect him to split time and be a David Montgomery the way that Demo was the last couple of years with Jameer.
41:18But if anything happens, heaven forbid, Jameer Gibbs has to miss time.
41:21I think Isaiah Pacheco is going to be a starting running back for those weeks.
41:25One more Blake Horm. I don't know if we can call him a handcuff anymore because I do think it's right.
41:31I'm with you, Liz. But I think that that's a RB2 in terms of second RB that is rising.
41:36All right. We got one more question here. This next one from our chat comes from Veronica Townsend.
41:41How about Patrick Mahomes? Are we going for him or staying away?
41:44Is it Mahomes or the field for week one?
41:47It seems like he's looking pretty good on recovery.
41:49I did see that Dan Graziano did a little sit down with Andy Reed, field jates, talked about Mahomes recovery, what their expectation is.
41:56Week one is not a guarantee, but that is what we're searching for.
41:59It's a guarantee. Let's think so. Okay. I think the NFL is putting Monday night football in Denver, Colorado with the Chiefs
42:05playing in the game if Mahomes is not expected to play.
42:08You don't think Justin Fields is going to bring the zhuzh for week one if he needs it?
42:13I believe Patrick Mahomes is, I've never, I don't know if you guys have heard this before, but like built different.
42:19Yeah. Oh, okay. Got it. Okay. Got it. I have a more gelatinous form myself, so I would say he is built different than him.
42:25So yeah, he's playing week one. Veronica, I have a little bit, I have him as quarterback eight, I believe, and that's
42:31so much less a reflection of Mahomes, the real player than it is the fantasy asset.
42:36The secret sauce for him last year was of course that he absolutely scrambled his life off.
42:40He ended up getting hurt on a scramble, by the way.
42:43Patrick Mahomes got hurt against the Broncos on a Thursday night football game many, many years ago.
42:48He ruptured his kneecap or dislocated his kneecap and it was on a quarterback sneak.
42:52He has not quarterback sneaked since. The Chiefs are going to be smart about Patrick Mahomes around this year.
42:57Now he can still throw the football very effectively.
42:59You can't totally reduce his rushing upside. He's going to just scramble naturally.
43:03I don't think he'll be running nearly as much, which is why he's quarterback eight for me.
43:07I am not out on Patrick Mahomes, but I'm not really targeting him in drafts unless it is one of those things
43:13where it's like he's on the board and I'm like, oh, this just feels like it's been too long and he should come off.
43:20I think there are at least some concerns with his return from injury.
43:23Another year for Travis Kelsey. When is that going to potentially not happen anymore?
43:27Xavier Worthy hasn't taken a step. What happens if he still doesn't pay off?
43:31What happens if Rasheed Rice gets into another situation and now he doesn't have all the guys like there is enough there
43:37that I can be concerned for it, but I still feel like Patrick Mahomes is Patrick freaking Mahomes.
43:42So like, you know, he could be a QB one, but I'm not targeting him in drafts.
43:46Yeah, I agree. I haven't QB 10. Here's the beauty.
43:49You don't have to Veronica draft Patrick Mahomes because the position is so sinking deep and as Field already said, Justin Herbert is available much later.
43:56So you don't need to waste that early round capital on the brand name if you don't want to.
44:01All right, let's keep it moving. We got a couple more topics we want to get to.
44:06Yeah, we're going to rip through this. Kyler Murray traded the Minnesota Vikings.
44:09We'll talk about Kyler in a second, but like where this really matters.
44:13I heard some dummy last year. I don't remember what next year was talking about how he was.
44:18What was the phrase? This quarterback quarterback agnostic. I heard someone say that ridiculous.
44:22It was Mike. That's what it was. Mike's gone.
44:24He's on a beach right now. We can blame him.
44:27Justin Jefferson had five straight top 10 seasons and then finished as wide receiver 30 last year.
44:31What are you thinking about him? We already have a discount because all those years he was coming off the board as
44:37wide receiver two, wide receiver three, maybe the number one wide receiver in the game.
44:41Now he's coming off the board right now looks like it's about wide receiver seven.
44:45We're back and I'll tell you why we're back.
44:48Okay. And this is not reporting. This is just me putting my logic hat out so don't aggregate this happens a lot
44:54more in the NBA than the NFL. If the Vikings do not get Justin Jefferson back on track this year, he's gone.
45:00Justin Jefferson will be saying trade me. Yeah. Okay.
45:02This is a guy who in his first six seasons has four with 1400 or more receiving yards.
45:07Last year he had two receiving touchdowns. Kyler Murray will get him on track and Kyler Murray's wearing the job by the way.
45:13Did you see Liz's face when you said that?
45:16I don't, I agree with you. This is the way it should be because you've they have chosen a quarterback to give
45:22homework to and this man don't like homework like of all the quarterbacks to choose you're going to give him a brand new playbook.
45:28This much on the line. I'm a little nerd.
45:30Okay. They have to get it right. They have to.
45:33Yes. We agree. Have to. Have to. Have to.
45:36Imagine having to get this right and Kyler Murray is the guy that you're like that guy.
45:40I mean JJ McCarthy is the other option so.
45:43Sure. Huge indictment on your first round pick to bring in a guy like Kyler Murray by the way.
45:48But I am in on Justin Jefferson. He is going to have a bounce back year.
45:52I'm telling you right now. Bounce back yes from wide receiver.
45:55Yes. To me he's he's the rare five for you.
45:58He's the rare. I think he's wide receiver five right now.
46:01Why is here four for me right now. I got to check that but good question.
46:05He is the very rare player going in the first like 10 or 12 picks who also could be a steal right.
46:11Like what you want like absolutely. Yeah. Like he's a steal like I guess I'm on rise for so he's five.
46:17We can't say that about most guys in the you know going 10th or 11th or 12th overall.
46:22Nope. But he could be the best player in fantasy football this year.
46:25He could be the best wide receiver in fantasy this year.
46:28Three seeds with 100 plus catches four with 1400 plus receiving yards like Justin Jefferson winning the triple crown is possible.
46:34He's Justin Jefferson capital J capital J on both of those names.
46:37Do not let him down again this year Minnesota because I just I'm not Justin has never expressed anything other than great
46:43affinity for where he plays quick crazy. There's no way he would be happy if they have another crap season.
46:48No no I would be and if I was just Justin Jefferson I would want out to maximize my skill set while
46:54I have it before I get before I don't because this is a game where it did it disappears quickly.
47:00Crazy stat on a per game basis. Kyler Murray has been a top 12 quarterback every single season of his career except for last year.
47:06QB 11 QB 4 QB 4 QB 7 QB 9 QB 12 and then QB 19 last year.
47:11OK but 30% of those fantasy points came from rushing.
47:14Yes. Not passing. We're talking about getting the ball to Justin Jefferson.
47:17Sorry I was just pivoting ahead too. Now when you look at this we've done a lot of mock draft stuff.
47:23There's not a lot of quarterbacks that are being drafted outside the top 15 that have had the chance to potentially be a top five guy.
47:30We've seen Kyler Murray be a top five guy twice.
47:33Yeah. Have either of you drafted him at all in our mock draft project throughout this off season?
47:37Kyler Murray. We did these like in succession last year.
47:40This year we're spreading them out. So my answer is probably yes but not as a target.
47:45Not someone that you were specifically targeting in the later rounds.
47:48OK. Just wanted to put that out there. All right.
47:50Let's move ahead. Talk about the Denver Broncos as well as long as you guys are good with the Minnesota Vikings.
47:56Yep. All right. Jalen Waddle. We're always good with moving on from Minnesota Vikings.
48:00Yes I'm with you girl. All right. Jalen Waddle traded over to the Denver Broncos guys.
48:04New weapon for Bo Nix. Waddle has been trying to recapture the first two seasons of his career for a minute.
48:10His first two years in the NFL were unbelievable.
48:12A top 15 wide receiver both of those years and then he was wide receiver 34 wide receiver 46 wide receiver 24 in Miami.
48:19Things just fell apart Liz. Now he gets to move on.
48:22He becomes what I believe is the wide receiver one in this Denver offense.
48:26I don't think it's Cortland Sutton. I think it's Jalen Waddle.
48:28I feel it. So I want to know how are you approaching Waddle in drafts this year.
48:33Are you more in on him being that guy that he was earlier in his career or you still have a little
48:39bit of nervousness as you go into the draft season.
48:42My only nervousness is Sean Payton who is sneaky like a fox.
48:45Right. Like we can never really rely on him to rely on one person though.
48:49The fact that the team gave up a first a third and a fourth to obtain him does suggest a heavy investment
48:55and I do think that Sean Payton can finally get his joker now if you will.
48:59We can move all over the formation. We thought maybe Ingram would be that guy last year.
49:04Definitely wasn't. And for the first time in a long time Waddle now has a complimentary skill set on the other side.
49:10It's not duplicative. Right. It's not him and Tyreek who are similar.
49:13And I do think that will help him. I have him as a why as my wide receiver 19 right now.
49:19But I do think he has wide receiver one meaning inside the top 12 upside.
49:23Well, I've got him exactly as wide receiver 19 as well.
49:26I have I don't have as much optimism. I guess that wasn't like crazy optimism.
49:30I'd be surprised by top 12 only because it's a fairly crowded room.
49:33Right. Like Cortland Sutton got a I think it was four years.
49:37Got a bunch of money in dollar deal last year.
49:39The team has like they spent a third round pick on Pat Bryant.
49:43This is what Sean Payton does. He just keeps throwing funneling assets into players.
49:47And so and I do think they want to run the football.
49:50They've got a great offensive line. There's a feels like a little bit of like an egalitarian approach amongst the pass catchers.
49:56I think he deserves to be right there in that top 20 of wide receivers.
50:00He's super talented. I love the fact that as a rookie Jalen Waddle was basically Jarvis Landry for Miami.
50:05Everything was at or near the line of scrimmage because they couldn't throw the football down the field.
50:10And then he emerged one of the best deep threats in the league.
50:13So you can do it all. I just so I just am not quite as bullish on like top 10 or 12 upside.
50:20But top 20 is reasonable to me. I think the upside could be that high.
50:24But I have him I think realistically drafted where you guys are ranked where you guys do.
50:28I have his wide receiver 20. The thing that makes me frustrated when I look at this kid that those rookies that rookie season was unbelievable.
50:35Even his second year was great. He's only top 75 catches one time in his career.
50:4075 is not a big number for a guy that's supposed to be a superstar wide receiver.
50:44He has never had a career target share. Never had a target share over 23 and a half percent.
50:49He has never topped. Not even 24 not 25.
50:52That's not an elite number for your biggest season ever for your target share to be 23.2 percent.
50:57That is not elite period. So I wonder here in this offense with what they spent on him.
51:01But given all the pieces that they have that you just mentioned.
51:05That's why I have him more as wide receiver 20 than moving up into that like high end wide receiver two range.
51:11A solid wide receiver two is what you're... I think his talent and skill can be higher but not with all the pieces that are going on.
51:18Then you're happy where he's being drafted as well.
51:20Absolutely. What about Travis Etienne? Hold on. Hold on a second.
51:23Time out. Biggest story of the offseason and you butchered it right away.
51:27Travis Achan. How did you miss this one? Dang it.
51:30You're right. A very notable NFL player story after five seasons in the league was like you guys have been saying this wrong.
51:36I've been saying my name wrong. Yeah. His name is Travis Achan and we've been calling him Travis Etienne for like a
51:42decade because in college we called him Travis Etienne as well.
51:45Yeah. Can you imagine if we were just calling you Daniil for the past decade?
51:49No. That's the French for when you go to Paris.
51:51I'm sure that happens to Daniil Hunter because his name was spelled kind of like Danielle right?
51:56So it's like that definitely happened. Have you seen Daniil Hunter though?
51:59I would never. I would not come at him.
52:02I would just be like Mr. Sir. Mr. Hunter.
52:04Mr. Sir. Yes. Whatever you want to be called works by me.
52:07The guy is so apologies I guess to Travis Achan for waiting this long to not knowing for all these years that
52:13this is how you pronounce it but we won't mess it up going forward.
52:17You did that on purpose Daniel so that Field could do that.
52:20That's exactly right. Personally apologize as a team to Travis.
52:23Thank you. And to his brother Trevor as well.
52:25Trevor Achan the running back for the Panthers. But yes he ends up with the Saints.
52:30Yeah. Thoughts on how this impacts the backfield here Liz?
52:32Dude has been awesome. I mean he was really good last year.
52:36He was revitalized by Liam Cohen and Liam Cohen isn't in New Orleans so that's a little problematic.
52:41Also Alvin Kamara did is coming back for his 31 year 31st year.
52:44How do you say that? 31st year. Year 31.
52:47Age 31 season. Age 31. We got there. Age 31 season.
52:50I do think that might take a little bit of a chunk out of.
52:53It'll shine off. Out of Achan's receiving work but otherwise I think he's a solid RB too.
52:58I'm not wildly excited but he does. He is expected to command the lead here and I do like a Kellen Moore led offense that is fairly uptown.
53:05I like the Saints this year. I like this offense.
53:08I like Tyler Shuck. I like Tyler Shuck a lot.
53:11I'm in on him. The lobby just got paid.
53:13Yep. And Jordan Tyson like I think they're in a good spot where they could be an offense that surprises us this year.
53:20I think a couple years ago they started out super hot in a surprising way and then like came back to the
53:25earth the way that we all thought that they would.
53:28Yeah. I could see them being a legitimate offense that's going to contend in the NFC South this year.
53:33Yeah. They're right there in that division. The wind was kind of taken out of the sails when that Alvin Kamara deal got got done.
53:40Now he's a franchise legend perspective. Yes. Yes. Obviously they want to keep him there.
53:44I don't know that he's a particularly effective player but what's the point of keeping Alvin Kamara for six and a half
53:50million dollars if you're not going to use him at all.
53:53Like I get loyalty that part I respect but like I don't think they're so loyal that they're like here's six and
53:59a half million dollars to be a game day inactive.
54:02Like it would be more like a million dollars to be game would be the Devin Singletary restructure where it's like you're
54:08making the minimum with a chance through incentives to get some money back.
54:11How do you feel about the other side of this?
54:14Are you in on Basial Tootin being a guy that you need to target in drafts as an RB2?
54:19I'm going to put this out there right now.
54:21The Jaguars offense is probably the most confusing one to give ranks.
54:25Thank you field. Thank you. Yeah. It's tough all the way around.
54:28I thought maybe the most surprising contract to free agency amongst running backs was Chris Rodriguez.
54:32Like if I told you Chris Rodriguez just sound like a one-year deal during the middle of OTAs for like sort of
54:38the minimum, I would be I'd be like, oh yeah, that's right.
54:41He got like two years and 13 million bucks.
54:44It was like an incredibly specifically targeted move by the Jaguars.
54:47That's more money than Keaton Mitchell got. Yeah. That's right.
54:49And Keaton Mitchell's healthy. That's true. And Chris Rodriguez has a history with Liam Cohen.
54:54They were together at Kentucky back when Liam Cohen was the OC there.
54:57So this was a Liam Cohen move for sure.
54:59I don't think this is like fully handing the reins to Basial Tootin, but Tootin's way more explosive.
55:04He's going to have a lot of big play upside.
55:07He's going to catch the ball more effectively than Rodriguez.
55:10So I have him as RB22. I'm more optimistic on him than any other Jags back.
55:14I have him on the RB2, RB3 bubble there.
55:17I think that that means Tootin, not Rodriguez. Rodriguez, by the way, is still dealing with this foot injury.
55:22So Tootin has been absorbing all of the first team reps and that's giving him more familiarity.
55:26I think what's head scratching is that Tootin played against type last season, right?
55:30He profiles as more of a space guy, but was the short yardage option as playing behind A-Chan last season.
55:35So I think he's going to have to grow and stretch a little bit here, but I do like Tootin, especially where
55:41he's being drafted because there are some question marks and concerns as an RB2.
55:45Not a high price tag right now in fan drafts.
55:48So it's not a bad spot. The next month will be really helpful.
55:51Call it 25 days because we want people to draft.
55:54Before, yeah. We got some time actually. The next month will be really influential and like finalizing my thoughts.
55:59Like all the receivers in Jacksonville kind of confusing.
56:02The backfield, not as confusing, but you can kind of talk yourself into a few different outcomes there.
56:06But this is a good problem. Like this team is very talented and Trevor Lawrence, incredible value rating.
56:11It all works for Trevor Lawrence. Speaking of, help me figure out what it is that I need to know.
56:17Again, from a draft perspective, Carnell Tate. Last year, the Titans went out, grabbed their quarterback, Cam Ward.
56:22This year, they gave him a premier pass catcher.
56:24Is this one of those situations, field, where like we can trust this rookie right away in this offense and fantasy or?
56:30I'm optimistic. I've got him as wide receiver 22, which is the highest amongst our ESPN rankers right now.
56:35Consensus rank is wide receiver 28. So people that have him in the 30-ish range, I'm up at 22.
56:40Like the player a lot. I thought he perhaps got mislabeled during the pre-draft process.
56:44He went fourth overall, and there are people, and I think I said this at times too.
56:49They're like, I don't know that he's ever going to be like a dominant number one wide receiver in the NFL.
56:55But if he were, I probably would have him at like wide receiver 15 or 16 as opposed to wide receiver 22.
57:01Total pro, like a professional wide receiver before he even entered the NFL.
57:04Wouldn't surprise me, and this is not just an Ohio State thing, if he has like a little bit of the Emeka
57:10Abuka trajectory here, which is like Abuka, I had him as maybe like the 30th player of my 32, my final big board.
57:16He ends up going 19 or 20 or something like that in the draft, and he ended up having this really, really
57:22solid run last year for Tampa, and the system, the situation, the performance, like all kind of mesh at the right time.
57:28I'm optimistic on Cam Ward. I'm optimistic on Carnell Tate.
57:31I think this guy is going to be legit enough.
57:34I was going to say the truth, but the truth would be higher than wide receiver 22.
57:38Wide receiver 22, legit. I am happy about the landing spot here for Carnell Tate.
57:42They got a block in Tennessee, but otherwise, I think this team's going to be okay offensively.
57:47I think what you're also saying is that his transition to the pros should be very smooth given his polished skill set and pro readiness.
57:54Also, I also like him Chicago kid, so a little bit biased.
57:57Second easiest strength of schedule for the position, Tennessee.
57:59So that's a nice extra little something to know.
58:02Yeah, I would expect to the Titans to be throwing the ball a lot as they try to figure out their offense and find some wins.
58:09They're going to be good on defense though, man.
58:11That front four is ridiculous. The front seven is good.
58:14I like Tennessee. Real question marks about the offensive line.
58:16I think this team's going to make a leap forward and Cam Ward, who we'll talk about quarterback ranking soon.
58:22So I'm not like, oh my God, Cam Ward's a top 12 option, but 10 touchdowns, one pick following the bye last year.
58:28So he amidst really poor circumstances became a decidedly improved player on the flag.
58:32Speaking of, go ahead. I was just going to say also should be buoyed by the addition of Wandel Robinson, who's uniting
58:38with Brian Dable and a fantastic PPR value. God, he's so holding it.
58:41He's not going to see 140 targets like he did last year, but he will hold it down in the slot.
58:47He will. He certainly will. Yeah. Speaking of bad situations, the entire Las Vegas Raiders team last year was bad.
58:52Really bad. Should we end it here with the Raiders and their offensive hall this offseason?
58:57I think so. Let's finish it out with that because I'm hoping that we can get something different here because we got Ashton Gentey.
59:03Yep. Ashton Gentey let people down, but wasn't as disappointing as it may have felt.
59:07Perfect. That's the thing that you have to realize still a very good running back.
59:11We love Brock Bowers. And now you're going to get Fernando Mendoza.
59:15Who's going to start here at quarterback? I think Kirk Cousins will start week one, but you know, Drake May sat on the bench to begin a season.
59:22Then it was like, oh yeah, this is definitely not the right play.
59:26We'll switch him out after four or five games.
59:28So I think we'll be on that plan for Fernando Mendoza.
59:31The quarterback play I think will be steadier this year overall.
59:34They are healthier amongst the pass catcher, specifically Brock Bowers.
59:37It's a way better system. I think it's an improved offensive line with Tyler Linderbaum.
59:41They paid a bolt load. They sure did. But the reason why I still have Gentey as RB12 and not as like
59:47RB6, which he's going to be ranked really high for some people.
59:50It's an improved offensive line. It's a much better system.
59:53I don't know that it's like a quantum leap better situation yet though.
59:56Like the offensive line is still a major work in progress.
59:59Wow. Okay. Still a major work in progress. And so as we know last year it was basically Ashton Gentey creating all the yards for himself.
60:06Nearly two-thirds of his yards rushing came after contact.
60:09The guy was... He did all the work. It was amazing.
60:12That Houston Texans game late in the season was one for the ages from Ashton Gentey.
60:16But I really like the player obviously. Still optimistic but not as in as some of my colleagues.
60:21I have him inside my top ten. I mean despite averaging what 3.7 yards per carry?
60:25That's right. He was the RB5 and in evaded tackles per touch which alludes to Field's point about just him creating after
60:31contact when he was able to you know get past the first level.
60:35So I really do. I have him actually as my RB7.
60:38I'm a little more optimistic. Oh there we go.
60:40I'm optimistic because of the talent and you know maybe it's a bit of a talent crush but I also was really high on him last year.
60:47Talent and Clint Kubiak coming over. I think that's in part going to help unlock what it is that he can be
60:53hopefully add more as a pass catcher. Are you closer to Liz or me?
60:57Are you in the middle? I am exactly where Liz is.
61:00I have my 7. Remember if everybody thinks alike no one is thinking.
61:03That's right. I was just looking at your running back rankings to see you had in front of him.
61:09I can't argue with any of these. Also it's too early to argue.
61:12No it's never too early to argue. I mean you're right.
61:15I can. Okay. It's too early. I can argue with the baby at 1.30 to go back to sleep this morning.
61:21Go back to bed. Okay. That's fair. That's fair.
61:23Do you get a lot of fantasy thoughts in while you're doing that or are you just sort of like in a
61:29fever dream in the middle of the night? It's usually about a 30 minute process to feed a child right?
61:35Feed, burb. It's like all kinds of stuff goes through your head.
61:38That's when AI field really comes to life. He's locking in.
61:41Diapers, Ashton Genti, evaded tackles per touch. Yeah. Where's the.
61:43Shout out rocking chairs. Had not a lot of use for them until I became a dad.
61:48Wow. Shout out rocking chairs. Now they're awesome. That's not a thing that young cool people say usually.
61:53Well Daniel I'm no longer young. I was never cool.
61:56So that's what I talk about these days. Yeah right.
61:58Tender age of 39. Hey this has been fun.
62:01What a great first day back guys. Thanks for hanging out with Liz.
