Alec Pierce

PositiveBreakout32:15

The source discusses a hot take that Alec Pierce could be a top-10 wide receiver, contingent on him becoming the focal point of the passing game if Michael Pittman were to miss time.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout32:15

Alec Pierce is projected as a potential top-10 wide receiver if Michael Pittman departs, allowing Pierce to become the focal point of the passing game and command a significantly larger target share.

Insight page

Alvin Kamara

NegativeRole59:13

The source suggests that a path to Travis Achan finishing as the RB1 involves Alvin Kamara playing a reduced role in the Saints' offense.

Insight page

Breece Hall

NegativeProjection52:26

The source expresses skepticism about Breece Hall finishing as a top-10 running back, noting that health and the necessity of a full 17-game season are the primary hurdles for him to reach that tier.

Insight page

Brock Bowers

PositiveBreakout15:16

The source projects Brock Bowers to exceed 135 catches, surpassing Trey McBride's record, noting he is the clear-cut best pass catcher in an unproven Raiders receiving room. The source confirms he is fully healthy despite recent training camp tape usage.

Insight page

Bucky Irving

NegativeValue60:48

The source identifies Bucky Irving as a player in the running back 'dead zone' who carries more question marks than preferred targets.

Insight page

Colston Loveland

PositiveBreakout55:42

Colston Loveland is viewed as a high-upside tight end with a legitimate chance to break into the top two at his position, though he may face more target competition than Tyler Warren.

Insight page

D'Andre Swift

NegativeInjury5:25

DeAndre Swift left practice due to cramps caused by extreme heat and humidity, but the source indicates he is fine and there is no long-term concern.

Insight page
PositiveValue60:42

The source considers D'Andre Swift a safe target at the back end of the running back rankings, distinguishing him from riskier players in the 'dead zone'.

Insight page

Garrett Wilson

PositiveProjection52:26

The source considers Garrett Wilson a viable candidate to finish as a top-10 wide receiver, noting that this is a more realistic expectation than Breece Hall reaching the top 10 at his position.

Insight page

George Kittle

PositiveValue21:46

The source predicts George Kittle will finish as the TE1 in fantasy points per game, highlighting his late-round ADP value and consistent elite production. The source notes he may have a slow start due to potential week-one availability, but remains a high-upside target.

Insight page

Isaiah Likely

PositiveSleeper62:06

The source identifies Isaiah Likely as an under-discussed player and a recent target, noting that he could have been a primary pass catcher if Malik Nabors had missed time early in the season.

Insight page

Jacoby Brissett

NegativeProjection30:47

The source expresses skepticism regarding a hot take that Jacoby Brissett will finish as a top-12 quarterback again, citing the team's difficult schedule and the unlikelihood of replicating last year's garbage-time production.

Insight page

Jadarian Price

PositiveBreakout43:52

Jadarian Price is projected as a top-10 running back as a rookie. The Seahawks led the league in rush attempts last year and have the second-easiest strength of schedule. Price's success depends on health, retaining the starting job over Zach Charbonnet, and involvement in the passing game.

Insight page

Jahmyr Gibbs

NegativeUsage57:47

Field Yates notes that Jahmyr Gibbs can have high-production games (150 total yards, two touchdowns) even when Jared Goff has a low-yardage passing performance, highlighting the Lions' ability to win while leaning on the run.

Insight page
NegativeUsage67:44

The source notes that a massive passing season for Jared Goff could potentially come at the expense of Jahmyr Gibbs' fantasy production, unless Gibbs significantly increases his receiving role.

Insight page

Jared Goff

PositiveProjection57:33

Field Yates predicts Jared Goff will finish as a top-three scoring quarterback, despite acknowledging the potential for low-yardage 'stinker' games where the Lions rely on the run game.

Insight page
PositiveProjection64:46

The source projects Jared Goff as a top-three scoring quarterback, citing a highly favorable schedule (favored in 14 of 15 games), the Lions' high-scoring offense, and the fact that he plays his December games in domes, mitigating weather concerns.

Insight page

Jayden Daniels

PositiveProjection56:40

The source jokingly suggests that Jayden Daniels could reach 1,005 rushing yards, highlighting his elite rushing upside as a quarterback.

Insight page

Jaylen Warren

NegativeValue40:18

Jalen Warren is currently flip-flopping with Rico Dowdle in ADP (around RB30). While Warren is the superior pass-catcher, the backfield situation remains a tie-breaker scenario where drafting both may be a viable strategy to ensure lineup utility.

Insight page

Jordan Love

PositiveProjection53:50

The source highlights Jordan Love as a potential top-five quarterback, noting that the uncertainty surrounding the Packers' running game could force the team to rely heavily on Love's passing volume.

Insight page

Justin Herbert

PositiveProjection45:50

The source projects Justin Herbert as a top-seven quarterback, arguing that the Chargers' offense will return to a high-volume passing attack similar to his 2020-2022 seasons. Herbert's rushing ability (498 yards last year) and the coaching staff's desire to utilize his talents are cited as key drivers for this rebound.

Insight page

Ladd McConkey

NegativeProjection49:52

While the source loves Ladd McConkey, they acknowledge that finishing as a top-seven wide receiver is a difficult task, though they note that Justin Herbert has historically supported multiple top-12 wide receivers in the same season.

Insight page

Malik Nabers

PositiveProjection60:38

The source projects Malik Nabors to finish as a top-10 wide receiver, provided he stays healthy, based on his strong rookie season performance.

Insight page

MarShawn Lloyd

NegativeInjury54:28

The source notes that while there is optimism surrounding Marshawn Lloyd, his history of injury issues makes it difficult to rely on him to stay healthy and perform at a high level.

Insight page

Marvin Harrison Jr.

PositiveProjection33:48

Marvin Harrison Jr. is projected to be a top-15 fantasy wide receiver in his third season. He has been highly productive in the end zone, ranking third in end-zone targets since entering the NFL, and averaged over 14 fantasy points per game with Jacoby Brissett last year.

Insight page

Michael Wilson

NegativeDepth Chart35:23

The Cardinals' commitment to Michael Wilson, evidenced by a three-year, $75 million contract, suggests he will be a significant part of the passing offense, potentially complicating Marvin Harrison Jr.'s path to a top-15 finish.

Insight page

Patrick Mahomes

PositiveValue54:03

Patrick Mahomes is currently being drafted outside the top 12 quarterbacks, presenting significant value if he and Travis Kelce can revive their championship-level production under Eric Bieniemy.

Insight page

Quentin Johnston

PositiveProjection30:19

The source acknowledges a hot take that Quentin Johnston could finish better than Ladd McConkey, noting that this outcome occurred during the previous season.

Insight page

Rashee Rice

PositiveProjection58:30

Rashee Rice is projected as a top-20 fantasy wide receiver. He demonstrated high-end production last season, finishing as a top-10 scorer in five of his eight active weeks.

Insight page

Rhamondre Stevenson

NegativeValue60:48

The source identifies Rhamondre Stevenson as a player in the running back 'dead zone' who carries more question marks than preferred targets.

Insight page

Rico Dowdle

PositiveProjection39:18

Rico Dowdle is a sleeper candidate to exceed 1,000 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. Despite being drafted around RB30, he has a clear path to early-down work under Mike McCarthy and benefits from a heavily invested offensive line.

Insight page

Rome Odunze

NegativeInjury5:54

Rome Odunze left practice, but the source notes that without immediate reporting from top insiders regarding severity, it is likely not a significant injury.

Insight page

Tank Dell

NegativeInjury40:10

The source is partially out on Tank Dell due to concerns regarding his smaller body size and the potential for recurring injury issues, drawing a parallel to the recovery struggles seen with Travis Kelce.

Insight page
NegativeBust64:02

The source is fading Tank Dell due to concerns about his small stature and the recurring injury risks associated with smaller players in the NFL.

Insight page

Terrance Ferguson

PositiveBreakout8:50

The source projects Terrence Ferguson as a top-12 fantasy tight end in his second season, citing his potential as the Rams' third target behind Davante Adams and Puka Nacua in a high-scoring offense.

Insight page

Tetairoa McMillan

PositiveBreakout54:19

Tetairoa McMillan is a candidate to lead the NFL in receptions, provided he improves his efficiency. His move to the slot is viewed as a major advantage, similar to the role that helped Drake London break out.

Insight page

Tony Pollard

PositiveBreakout55:20

The source discusses a hot take that Tony Pollard could finish as a top-10 running back, though they express doubt about the Titans' offense being strong enough to support such a finish.

Insight page

Travis Etienne

NegativeProjection58:28

The source notes that Travis Etienne was part of a group of four Jaguars players who finished in the top 10 in total fantasy points last season.

Insight page

Travis Kelce

PositiveValue54:06

Travis Kelce is being drafted outside the top 10 tight ends, making him a potential value play if the Chiefs' offense returns to its peak form.

Insight page

Trevor Lawrence

NegativeProjection58:28

The source notes that Trevor Lawrence was part of a group of four Jaguars players who finished in the top 10 in total fantasy points last season.

Insight page

Tyler Warren

PositiveBreakout56:52

Tyler Warren is considered a strong breakout candidate with top-five TE potential. He is viewed as a volume-based play within the Indianapolis offense, which has fewer competing options for targets compared to Chicago.

Insight page

Xavier Worthy

NegativeInjury41:33

The source views Xavier Worthy as a volatile asset, noting that if he suffers another injury, his career trajectory may be permanently hampered by an inability to stay healthy. The source compares Worthy's potential subconscious timidity after injury to their own experience with a shoulder injury, suggesting that even if cleared, a player may not be fully themselves.

Insight page
NegativeBreakout58:47

Xavier Worthy is a post-hype breakout candidate for the Chiefs. While he showed promise with 12 touchdowns in 20 games as a rookie, concerns persist regarding his slight frame and injury history, which hampered his availability last season.

Insight page

Zach Charbonnet

NegativeInjury45:01

Zach Charbonnet is working his way back from injury, with the source noting a significant distinction between returning to play and returning to full performance levels.

0:35Ooh, did someone say hot? Okay, very funny. Yeah, it's really sweating.
0:38Are you guys? Nope, not hot enough. No! Alright, Top, that's enough now.
0:42Seriously, man. You guys think so? Not me. Nope!
0:45Daniel, turn it off! Dude, seriously. Take us back to the studio right now.
0:49Ha ha ha ha ha ha. Now we're ready.
0:51Ha! And welcome into Fantasy Focus Football Field. Yates and I...
0:54Did Mike not come back with us? Yeah, Mike.
0:57Yeah, weird. Did Mike... I think we accidentally left Mike there.
1:00Mike burned. Mike ain't it. Wow, we're gonna have to check in on Mike throughout the show.
1:05But we got some hot takes, my friend. I'm wearing my favorite sunglasses.
1:09Shout out to my buddy Toby from Emnery. He gave me these when we were on tour and said these are gifted to you now.
1:16They are your sunglasses. They're not my favorite sunglasses.
1:18You're my favorite co-host because you're here every single day.
1:21I'm the only one. That's not true. That's not why, Field.
1:24Can I say something before we get any further?
1:27First of all, for those that are listening, you didn't see the transitions at the very beginning of the show.
1:33For those that are watching, you did. Hopefully you enjoyed them.
1:36That is your wheelhouse. Like, out of the three of us, unequivocally, you are the best actor.
1:41Thank you, Field. You're so natural in those little skits.
1:44Try to have fun with bits. You are the bit king.
1:47That works, right? That works. Yeah, you're the bit king.
1:50I don't feel quite as in my own skin when doing those bits.
1:53So, well done by you, my friend. Thank you.
1:56Well done. We're gonna have fun with it. We got a little bit more.
2:00We're gonna check back in and see if we can find Mike throughout the show.
2:04But we will go into a bunch of our hot takes today.
2:08First and foremost, though, a few logistics fields. A couple things I want to get to.
2:12Our buddy Eric Moody in chat. Follow him on social media at Eric and Moody.
2:17Get in there and dive into the chat. Our buddy, we announced it yesterday, doing a show on Sunday morning, which is gonna be unbelievable for you guys.
2:25Fantasy Focus Sunday kickoff presented by Lowe's live on the NFL and ESPN YouTube page.
2:29You can get in there from 1130 to 1 p.m.
2:32Eastern. Eric Moody will be answering your lineup questions.
2:35Some of us from the show on Fantasy Focus Countdown are gonna pop in while we have some time and some commercial breaks.
2:41So it's gonna be a blast. So go check that out.
2:44And we're doing some voting all week long in our polls here for the YouTube chat.
2:49We're gonna do two final punishment polls today. Tuesday, we're gonna reveal all of the punishments that we have for this season.
2:55By the way, keep sending in all the punishments that you have because once we use a punishment, we're gonna replace it on the wheel.
3:02So we always need to keep replacing them. But if you're in the YouTube chat, you're gonna have a couple of polls
3:09today to vote on for our punishments. So feel free to have a little bit of fun with that one.
3:14All right, Field Yates, I don't think we have a whole lot of news to get to.
3:19I think it's just hot takes day, my friend.
3:22We do not have any news that I am aware of, Daniel.
3:25The only bit of news that I suppose we can pass along is that yesterday, DeAndre Swift left practice for the Bears.
3:32And Twitter got itself into a tizzy, which is what happens.
3:35Now's that time. Information era. Yeah. Adam Schefter reporting it just a cramp.
3:39I spoke to somebody there and they noted that it was about 100 degrees on the field.
3:43Sure. And incredibly humid. So cramps do happen. That is what happens during this time of the year.
3:49Chicago sort of warmer than expected for late, late August.
3:52But every once in a while, things do happen.
3:54And DeAndre Swift seems to be just fine. Roma Dunze also left practice.
3:58No word on any severity there. But generally speaking, when a notable player in Rome is very notable, leaves practice and there's
4:04not quick reporting from one of the top insiders about a significant injury, tends to suggest it might not be anything significant.
4:10But I digress. What I want to do is chat.
4:13I want your hottest takes. Ooh. And throughout the show, we can unveil some of those as well.
4:19Love that. Before we get into our hot takes, Daniel.
4:21Yeah. How are you defining a hot take? Hot take?
4:24I think it's a little bit across the board.
4:27I decided to have a little bit of fun.
4:29It got hotter as it went. But I think something that I don't expect to happen this season, but there is a possibility that it could happen.
4:37And each one elevates a little bit more from one take to the next.
4:41Is that similar to how you did it? Generally how I landed as well.
4:45Okay. If you hear one of our hot takes and it runs counter to our general thoughts on a player, like that's okay.
4:52Right? Hot takes are not things that you expect to happen.
4:55If we were doing cold takes, I would say Josh Allen will be quarterback one this season.
5:00A hot take would be Kyler Murray finishes quarterback one this season.
5:03That's not one of my hot takes, but I also don't think it's going to happen, which is why it would qualify as a hot take.
5:11So we're going to kind of get hotter as the show goes on.
5:15We will. And I want to start if we can.
5:17Have we heard at all from Mike yet? Does he have anything to weigh in?
5:22Whoa. Oh, you guys just left me here? Oh, you just left me at the beach.
5:26Can't complain about that. I think I'll just relax here a little bit.
5:30Oh, but how about my first hot take? This one's, you know, not too sizzling.
5:34It's kind of like this beautiful beach here. It's nice and calm and relaxing.
5:38But I think Terrence Ferguson is a top 12 fantasy tight end at this year.
5:43Kind of off to a slow start in his career, but he was the second round pick last year.
5:48Goes into year number two now. And could be the number three target behind Devontae Adams and Puka Nakua and what could
5:54be one of the highest scoring offenses in the NFL.
5:57He was used near the goal line last year.
6:00He was used as a vertical threat. So Terrence Ferguson, top 12 here in year number two.
6:05I guess we did leave Mike at the beach field.
6:08I didn't mean to do that. How does Mike fail upwards here?
6:11I don't know. He doesn't show up to work and instead gets to go spend the morning at the beach.
6:17And you and I obviously live in Connecticut, as does Mike.
6:20He is not in Connecticut right now, but he's not far away.
6:23Yeah. And it is toasty today. Oh, yeah. It's been kind of cool this week here.
6:28It has warmed up in a hurry. So, Mike, congratulations to you.
6:32One of the other realities about Hot Takes, Daniel, is that it's hard to support them with a statistical case.
6:37A lot of times. From years prior. Yeah. But Mike, having Terrence Ferguson as a top 12 tight end this year is a talent play.
6:44He mentioned the fact that the Rams, he might be their third receiver.
6:48He could even be their second pass catcher if Puka Nakua is unavailable at some point.
6:53Although we're now six days away from their season opener in Australia.
6:56And no word there on Puka. But I did notice something.
6:59And I went back to Mike's full season projections.
7:02Which, if you go on ESPN.com or go find it through Mike's Twitter, MikeClayNFL, you can see a full PDF.
7:08It's incredibly comprehensive. Mike projects not just standings, but also points for and points allowed for every single team.
7:13I'm sort of leading the witness here. But can you guess which team he projects to score the most points in the 2026 regular?
7:20Ooh, probably the Los Angeles Rams. Nailed it. 494 points score.
7:23That's over 29 per game. Which is a lot of touchdowns over the course of a 17-game season.
7:28So there's equity for Terrence Ferguson in the touchdown department potentially.
7:32And this is a little bit of an investment play as well, right?
7:35Second round pick just a couple of years ago.
7:38The Rams told us how much they believe in the player.
7:41Yeah, I'm with you on that one, Field. I mean, I love the pick because I am in on Terrence Ferguson.
7:47You've also heard me talk about him. Mike talked me into him as well.
7:51One thing I will say, though, often at the tight end position, I don't try to chase touchdowns.
7:56I try to chase volume. Where are you going with this first one?
8:00Okay, so by the way, we think Mike's, that was...
8:03Fine. Fine. Okay, actually it sucked. I mean, let's be honest.
8:06We're going to dunk on all of it. No, no, no, no, no.
8:10He's not here. We get to dunk on all of this.
8:13No, that's... People already think I don't like Mike.
8:16I want people to know that I do like Mike.
8:18Um, that was like, uh, you know, mild sauce.
8:21It's a mild take. Do you guys remember a few years ago when we did hot takes and we used actual hot sauce?
8:28Yes. I think that was two years ago. It was two years ago.
8:31Do you guys remember what happened to me afterwards?
8:34I do remember what happened to you. I spent the entire day in my bathroom at home.
8:39Yep. It started to happen right when we were getting ready to leave work.
8:43I was like, ooh, that doesn't feel good. I had bubble guts.
8:46Yeah. For almost a full day. I mean, I was down so incredibly bad.
8:50It was pathetic. I was taking every type of medicine imaginable to control my stomach and nothing worked until I went to bed that night.
8:57I went to bed, crawled up in the fetal position.
9:00It was awful. So thankfully we're not doing actual hot sauce this year.
9:04Um, a lot of tight end theme in our first set of takes.
9:08I noticed that. Yeah. That was not intentional. It just happened.
9:11Yeah. Sunny day at the beach take. The record for most catches by a tight end in a single season was set last year by Trey McBride.
9:19It was. My first hot take is that it lasts for one season as Brock Bowers will sail past 135 catches this upcoming season.
9:26With Kirk Cousins and Fernando Mendoza. I mean, is that any better or worse than Kyler Murray and Jacoby Brissette?
9:31No, it is not. Like potentially it's not that much different.
9:35Um, I, this to me is a reminder. We tend to do this in fantasy, like one bad year for a player.
9:41And next thing you know, um, not even a bad year, but a hurt year.
9:45We're like, Oh, you forget just how dominant of a player this is.
9:49Brock Bowers is a rookie, had one of the greatest, probably the greatest rookie tight end season that we have ever seen.
9:55I was doing NFL live yesterday with Laura Rutledge and she was talking about how, when she spoke to the Raiders staff
10:02prior to the preseason game that they, we broadcast here on ESPN, uh, Raiders versus Texans.
10:06Uh, they were discussing the Raiders and then who, who's kind of vying for that wide receiver one role.
10:12And the Raiders relayed something to the effect of like, yeah, it's an open competition.
10:16A lot of guys are trying to sort of earn their keep as wide receiver one.
10:20Maybe at this moment, we don't necessarily have a clear cut wide receiver one.
10:25And then Clint Kubiak kind of corrected himself and was like, actually we might, it's, it's, it's Brock Bowers.
10:30Yeah. Because Brock Bowers is unquestionably the best pass catcher in the entire offense.
10:34Yes. And it is a razor thin wide receiver room based off what they have proven up to this point in their career, right?
10:41Jalen Naylor, Trey Tucker, Jack Besh, uh, Malik Benson, who's drafted this past April six round pick out of Oregon.
10:47Like it is really, really unproven besides Brock Bowers.
10:49We expect it to be an improved offense overall, and that would get you to over eight catches a game for Brock
10:56Bowers, which I think is possible if he sees somewhere between 10 to 12 targets.
11:00Does it ever bum you out that when you're talking about your two best friends, Laura Rutledge, who knows Clint Kubiak and
11:06all the people and me who like when you tell stories, you're like, Daniel was talking to the attendant of the gas station the other day.
11:14And he actually told me that this was, is that like a tough thing for you?
11:18Hey, listen, you are wearing sunglasses from a member of Emory.
11:21That's fair. Okay. All right. All right. All right.
11:24On a different day, I might've let you, I might let you have that, but right now.
11:29But not now. Okay. That's fair. That's fair. You know, like, um, this is, this is big time.
11:34I love it. So I love that call field because I think you're in a, that's a great point.
11:39I mean, the receiving room around him clearly shows that he has a clear path to what would be an unbelievable number of targets.
11:46It's do they just want to let him feast?
11:49If he stays healthy, which I'm saying that not because I had been told zero concern on that knee injury from last year.
11:56There was a moment in training camp where Bowers was spotted wearing this tape.
12:00I forget what it's called, but it's, it's like black tape that sort of keeps, can help muscles.
12:05A lot of volleyball players. Visiology tape. Something like that.
12:08Yeah. A lot of volleyball players wear it because their joints are all over the place.
12:12Yeah. Going up there, spiking, et cetera. But Brock Bowers was spotted wearing some and people were like, Oh, did something happen with that knee?
12:19Like, are they still concerned? I've been told no concern whatsoever.
12:23Zip zero nada. Brock is fully healthy. So when I say if he stays healthy, I say that in the same way
12:29that I would say if Jameer Gibbs, if B.
12:31John Robinson, if Jamar Chet, well, I guess Chase is hurt right now.
12:35If you know, JSN, if I'm on raw, if CD lamb stays healthy, if any of these guys can play 17 games,
12:42they have massive, massive upside with you. I just think Brock Bowers reasserts himself as the tight end in the NFL finishes
12:48his tight end one with over 135 catches. Mike's projection of 99 catches for 999 yards is really pleasing to see aesthetically.
12:54Yes. But it's way too low, Mike. Yeah. I think you're going to get way more, more than 99 catches for 999 yards.
13:01I think Mike is being conservative with that one.
13:03Yep. All right. Same. I've got George Kittle for mine.
13:06Feel Jates. You talked about him having Brock Bowers having 135 catches.
13:10I have George Kittle finishing as tight end one in fantasy points per game.
13:14That is my mild take. It's mild because it honestly just feels like a George Kittle season.
13:19If that happens last seven seasons in the league, tight end three, tight end two, tight end three, tight end four, tight
13:25end two, tight end six, tight end one, and tight end three.
13:28So he's only done it one time in the last seven years, but he has consistently been up at the top.
13:34The reason why I'm talking about him now is because you get him so late in draft field, Jates.
13:40If you could get the number one tight end in the game in round eight of your fantasy draft, you are winning fantasy football.
13:47Yep. I mean, you get such huge positional value when that happens.
13:50Last year, once he came back from injury weeks eight through 18, he averaged 19.2.
13:54Two points per game. And you look at the receiving core.
13:58Juwan Jennings gone. Yep. Ricky Pearsall out for the season.
14:01Mike Evans is old. That's it. Deebo Samuel also is 30 years old.
14:04Very succinct there. Yes. Mike Evans old. Yeah. John Stribling, a rookie that we really like, but still learning the playbook.
14:10If there's one guy that I feel like is just going to keep doing the thing that he's been doing in this offense, we still like Brock Purdy.
14:18George Kittle easily can be that guy. I say points per game because of the fact that he might not start the season.
14:25I know he flew to Australia. We'll see what that means.
14:28But even if you miss him for the first couple of games, I still think that there is a chance.
14:34That's why this is my mildest of all the takes that George Kittle, the tight end you're getting in the eighth round, finishes as tight end one.
14:42The path to this field is honestly just another George Kittle season.
14:45George Kittle is the man. Yeah. The only way in which this take might fall apart early is that he may play in week one.
14:52That might be the... They may ramp him up, right?
14:55Correct. It's like, hey, he's playing weeks one through four on a 50 to 60 percent of the snaps plays, snaps count.
15:01And then he, by week five, is sort of full Voltron and back to his normal self.
15:06But in those first four weeks, maybe he averages eight and a half fantasy points because of letting it warm up.
15:12Yeah. That being said, he is a freak. As you saw, one of those tweets there from our tag board noted that he is a freak of nature.
15:20Did you know that it's like an 18 hour flight from Los Angeles and maybe a little bit longer from San Francisco to Australia?
15:27I didn't know. 18 hours? I don't know. My brain, and I'm not the smartest guy, no one's going to question that.
15:34But I thought it was like 12 hours. I, so I, as you know, and your father was in Hawaii, I was stationed in Hawaii.
15:41So like I used to fly from LA to Hawaii all the time.
15:45Yeah. I thought that I guess Australia was much closer to Hawaii than it is.
15:49Me too. 18 hours. Yeah. The flight to Hawaii is not nearly that long.
15:53So that's unreal. What do you do? Do you just have to like get up and walk around in a plane?
15:59I can't sit for that long. You definitely can't sit for that long.
16:03I think that these. I'm also not six foot five, 275 pounds.
16:06I'm guessing these teams either, either their own jets are already equipped with like lots of like rollout seats or you get the live flat seats.
16:14You rent it, you know, you, you charter a jet for this incredibly taxing trip.
16:18Gosh. I don't know. You ever see like those double decker ones, like those double decker planes?
16:23I flew on one. Did you really? Yeah. When I went to Poland a couple of years ago to be able to officiate our buddy Damien's wedding.
16:30Oh, wow. The flight that we took, I was a double decker.
16:34We were sitting on the top. That is sweet.
16:37I've never even seen one much less other than on the Instagram.
16:40So maybe it's one of those. I don't know.
16:43I'm sure the Niners and Rams are flying a little bit differently than if you and I made the trip from Bristol, Connecticut to Australia.
16:50I'd love to go to Australia one day. Hopefully we have some viewers and listeners out there down under.

18:19Some hot takes we want to get to. James Northrup says, hot take Quinton Johnston finishes better than Ladd McConkie.
18:25I like it. I mean, didn't that happen last year?
18:27I don't like it, and I think it did happen last year.
18:31We're going to talk about the Chargers in a little bit, my friend.
18:35I got some around them. I should have said, I like it, as in like, I appreciate the heat.
18:40I like it. I appreciate the spiciness of the hot take.
18:43Absolutely. Do we have another one? Let's throw another one up here.
18:47The Carter says, Jacoby Brissett finishes top 12 again this season.
18:50It would be amazing because we've talked about it zero so far this preseason.
18:54It's true. He did it basically last year. Yep.
18:56And I don't think that we are in a spot where with the, are we, I just don't think that that garbage
19:03time can be replicated in the same way that it was last season.
19:06They are going to be down a lot. They will.
19:09They have what is perhaps the hardest schedule in the NFL, and they are projected to win like three and a half games.
19:16So garbage time sort of forecasted there. I just, I'm not sure if they'll be as effective at it.
19:21Blake Bortles will be so proud of it. He will.
19:24Yes. Yeah. We'll have missed on that one. If Jacoby Brissett does it two years in a row, we'll have just straight missed on that one.
19:32All right. Let's do one more year before we move on.
19:35K3 super future hot take. Alec Pierce will be a top 10 wide receiver this year.
19:39Field G. Talk to me about the path that this happens.
19:43Is that K3 super future or is that Mike Clay?
19:46It might have been Mike Clay. That's true. It's, you know, it's the idea that all of a sudden Michael Pittman is
19:52gone and all of a sudden Alec Pierce is the focal point to this passing game.
19:56Rather than have it be the narrative that I have been preaching, which is a lot of that is going to go to Tyler Warren.
20:04We see Alec Pierce take a much greater target share.
20:06That's how that happens with this one. I'm with you on that.
20:10That is a spicy take though. Speaking of spicy takes, I think our buddy Mike has something to say.
20:15She's trying to come in here. Guys, now you're leaving me in the desert.
20:19This is not really funny anymore. All right. I need to get out of here.
20:24So I'm going to ramp up my take a little bit with this one.
20:28Marvin Harrison Jr. will be a top 15 fantasy wide receiver this season.
20:31Look, I know it has been off to a bit of a slow start for him.
20:36Rookie year was okay last year. Obviously fell off injuries and whatnot.
20:40But look, super busy near the goal line. He's finished top five at wide receiver in end zone targets both seasons.
20:46He's actually third in that category since he entered the NFL.
20:49And by the way, he was pretty good with Jacoby Brissett under center last year over 14 fantasy points per game.
20:55So yeah, I think Marvin Harrison Jr., top 15 fantasy receiver in year three of his career.
21:00And I need to, I need to. Ooh, water.
21:02What? I don't know. I love, I love my clay.
21:05No idea on that one. He went for the squirt bottle, the classic, oh, there isn't any in here anymore.
21:11I'll have to go find water. Oh, Michael. Thoughts on this one, Daniel?
21:15He's the sweetest. Listen, if Jacoby Brissett's going to be a top 12 quarterback, there's a good shot that Marvin Harrison Jr.
21:21could get here. Honestly, here's the thing for me.
21:23This team just gave somebody a lot of money.
21:26Michael Wilson. Michael Wilson. Three years, $75 million. Is that correct?
21:29$75 million. So they're obviously counting on that guy to be a part of this as well.
21:34For him to be able to be top 15, I just, we need to see a completely different Marvin Harrison Jr., the
21:40alpha that he was supposed to be drafted as.
21:43I don't feel like I have heard the rumblings in training camp that he has looked like that guy that will not be stopped.
21:50He cannot be contained. I haven't really heard that yet.
21:53So is there a shot given the pedigree? Sure.
21:55Yeah. But I'm a little bit more out on it than in on it, I think.
22:00Okay. So here's about you. Pedigree, yes. Talent, yes.
22:03Opportunity because there's going to be a lot of throwing.
22:05On the fly here. Yeah. I don't think it's that crazy of a take.
22:09I can buy into it. I will just say this more generally about Marvin Harrison Jr.
22:14This is the last time. This is it. This is it.
22:17This is your make or break season for fantasy.
22:20And I'm not talking about like, hey, if he doesn't perform well this year, he'll be ineligible in fantasy football next year.
22:26I'm talking that much like Kyle Pitts. You guys have heard my Kyle Pitts, Marvin Harrison Jr.
22:31analogy in the past. That if it doesn't work out this year with Marvin Harrison Jr., people are going to be out.
22:37Out. They will just never. He'll be the scar tissue player.
22:40He'll be the guy that I don't care if Marvin Harrison Jr.
22:44gets traded to the Rams and plays with Matthew Stafford.
22:47And then Puka Nakua gets traded. And Sean McVay says Marvin Harrison Jr.
22:51is the greatest player he has ever seen. No matter the circumstances, people are going to have serious angst over drafting Marvin Harrison Jr.
22:57Will not matter. It doesn't happen after this year.
23:00Fool me once. Shame on you. Fool me twice.
23:03Shame on me. Fool me three times. I'm never drafting you again.
23:06Well said. I was wondering where you were going to go with that fool me three times.
23:11Yeah. I wasn't really sure if that one was going to land.
23:14What about you, my friend? You know what took me an embarrassingly long time to remember this offseason?
23:20The name of your second child. I screw up my kids' names all the time.
23:24No. Well, you got three of them. Yeah, that's a problem.
23:27Is that it's usually the youngest two that I screw up.
23:30Do you ever call your children your dog's name?
23:33Or your dog your children's name? No. Okay. We also have so many nicknames for our dog now that I just end
23:39up calling him something different every time. I get yelled at.
23:42Sometimes Rosie will go to yell at me and she'll be like, River!
23:46I mean, Daniel! And it's like, thanks for mixing me up with one of the dogs.
23:51River is a sweet name. It is. River Craycraft.
23:53Anyways, keep going. Let's go. It took me way too long to remember that Rico Dowdle played with Mike McCarthy in Dallas.
23:59Yeah. Played for him, I guess would be the more accurate statement.
24:03Rico Dowdle. This is the stuck in the desert category.
24:06Yeah. Number two in the hot takes. We'll finish.
24:08With over a thousand rushing yards and ten rushing touchdowns.
24:11That's a good season feel. Pretty good season right there.
24:14Yeah. He's not being drafted like that. He's being drafted around RB30.
24:18Him and Jalen Warren kind of flip-flopping. It reminds me.
24:20We've seen this. Every year there's like a backfield where you just don't really know who to lean on.
24:26And you just break a tie and flip a coin and move forward there.
24:30I think Tony Pollard and Tajay Spears have been like that in recent seasons.
24:34Anyways, Jalen Warren's a better pass catcher. Rico is a capable pass catcher, though.
24:38And familiarity rules the roost here. We were talking about this yesterday when discussing Chris Rodriguez, right?
24:43Yep. Rodriguez, who is a very familiar running back to Liam Cohen.
24:46And that's like the only spot that if he signed, I could be like, all right, maybe there is like a real role of him here.
24:54Yeah. Rico Dowdle. There could be a real role here with Mike McCarthy.
24:57Now, Mike Clay has highlighted how little Mike McCarthy has gotten out of the running backs for fantasy in his career.
25:04If they lean enough on Rico Dowdle behind what is at least a heavily invested offensive line, I think an offensive line
25:10that can actually be really good as well. Yeah.
25:12I could see Rico Dowdle going over a thousand rushing yards and ten rushing touchdowns.
25:17I can see that field. It is a little spicy, a little more buffalo sauce if we were to put a little bit of a heat.
25:24Buffalo versus mild. Yeah, versus the mild. But I do believe that I agree with you, especially because I'm more out than in on the passing game.
25:32Yep. And so if we do see these guys rely on just toting the rock, Rico Dowdle is the guy I think
25:38is going to be touching the ball more often than not on those early downs.
25:43Yep. We saw some of the explosiveness that he could have last year.
25:46He had a couple of monster games last season.
25:49So I like this one as a spicy take, especially with where you're getting him in drafts right now.
25:54I mean, he's basically, he's very attainable right now in fantasy drafts.
25:58Yeah, yeah. He is very attainable. Both of them are right now.
26:01You just got to kind of pick a lane between those two, or you can draft both of them and hope that
26:08when you draft, both of them, by the way, the hope is that one renders the other moot.
26:13Yeah. That like you are actually not getting any value out of either Rico or Jalen Warren.
26:18And if that's the case, at least you have one of them as a, maybe not lineup lock, but a strong lineup consideration each year.
26:25Yeah. How about you? What do you got? I'm going to bring my rookie guy that I've been talking about nonstop to the table, Jadarian Price.
26:32He's going to be a top 10 rookie running back this year, Field.
26:36I think that's not a hot take. You don't think that's a hot take?
26:40Top 10 rookie running back? Sorry. He will be a top 10 running back as a rookie.
26:45There we go. There we go. Last year in Seattle, no backfield had more carries than Seattle Seahawks.
26:50We're just talking about rushing via the running back position.
26:53All right. No quarterbacks, wide receivers, tight ends. Seahawks were first in rush attempts.
26:57They were tied with the Falcons, right? Correct. They were seventh in rushing yards.
27:01They were fourth in rushing touchdowns. Zach Charbonnet still working his way back.
27:05Zach, I know that there is a big difference between return to play and return to performance.
27:10And the Seahawks running backs have the second easiest strength of schedule this season.
27:14Just because we didn't see all of the passing game work and everything materialize at Notre Dame because he was behind Jeremiah
27:20Love doesn't mean that that skill set isn't there.
27:23It just means we haven't seen it. So it is a little bit of a faith thing.
27:27Yeah. Seahawks had enough faith to use a first-round pick on this kid to be able to become their number one running back in their backfield right now.
27:35The path to this being able to happen is that he stays healthy, one, for a full year, obviously.
27:41Yep. He retains the starting job even when Zach Charbonnet comes back.
27:44He's involved in the passing game. It's going to be really tough for him to be top 10, even with the amount
27:51of rushing and touchdown equity that I just talked about from last year.
27:54Yep. He's going to have to be involved in the passing game as a part of that.
27:59And Seattle will have to stay the run-heavy kind of team that they were last year to keep up with that kind of volume.
28:06Yeah. But I realize that's a lot of things to happen.
28:09He's in a spot where if anything happens with Zach Charbonnet, no offense to George Helani or anyone else in that backfield.
28:16I just think Jadarian Price, when you look at the cream rises, right?
28:19Yeah. He's the cream in this situation by the time you get to the end of the season.
28:25If those things happen, if that narrative plays out, he could find himself as a top 10 running back as a rookie.
28:31I have no idea where the saying, the cream rises, comes from.
28:34I think I know it's accurate, and I suppose it means something.
28:38But I've never understood the origins of that. I'm sure somebody can correct me there.
28:42Or at least inform me there, I should say.
28:45Love the hot take. This is a hot take.
28:47It's a hot take. Right? Like, he's being drafted well lower than top 10 amongst running backs.
28:52Yeah. This is not... I'm actually not countering your hot take here.
28:56I just am bringing up something that I don't know I've mentioned much, or anybody here on this show has mentioned much.
29:02When the Seahawks lost Clint Kubiak this offseason, they ended up interviewing, I think, three or four guys on their own staff to take over for Clint Kubiak.
29:10Some of those guys went to Las Vegas with him.
29:13Then they hired the Niners tight ends coach, Brian Flory, as their offensive coordinator.
29:17Yeah. My brother from another mother. That's right. He literally, as Minam once pointed out, he looks just like you.
29:23Yeah. I have no idea what to expect out of him.
29:26My guess is Mike McDonald probably wanted to hire somebody that is going to just continue to do what they've been doing, right?
29:32You can't replicate Clint Kubiak as a play caller, but you can certainly run the same system and have the same mentality as Kubiak.
29:39I have no idea how Brian Flory wants to play.
29:42He worked for Kyle Shanahan. Mike McDonald certainly could have played it safe and stuck in-house, so I'm assuming he hired somebody that has a similar vision.
29:50I'm just curious how that looks. Yeah. It's a little bit of a...
29:54Usually, these offensive play callers or offensive coordinators that get jobs, like Declan Doyle going to Baltimore, that was just a matter
30:00of time because he was this really well-thought-of, young, hot-shot, on-the-rise offensive coordinator who had not previously called plays.
30:05Davis Webb in Denver, he gets the chance to take on play-calling duties now for the Broncos, taking them away from Sean Payton.
30:12Your Lions hired Drew Petsick, who had previously called plays for Arizona.
30:15The Brian Flory hire was kind of out of nowhere.
30:18Mike McDaniel goes to the Chargers, right? So Flory, I just have no real baseline to work off of in terms of
30:25what he stands for, how he wants to call plays, etc.
30:28Let's hope he really loves Jadonion Price this season.
30:30That would be great. That would be great. Him and JSN both.
30:34That's all we're trying to do. As you know, managing maintenance, repair, and operations is never easy.

31:47Let's take a couple of questions before we get into our next version of hot takes here from our YouTube chat.
31:53This one. P.S. Gamer Mahomes and Kelsey revive as fantasy winners under Eric Biennemi once again.
31:58That is hot. That is hot. I got to tell you, I actually love this topic.
32:02Because hot takes make you think. Yeah. Right? Like, when I sit here and go like, yeah, look, I expect Derrick Henry
32:09to once again be top two in the NFL in rushing yards.
32:12Or whatever. Be more conservative. Top five in rushing yards this year.
32:16It's like, yeah, okay, that probably will happen. Right?
32:18And like, Josh Allen will be a top three quarterback this year.
32:22And we expect A.J. Brown to have a big impact after getting traded to the Patriots.
32:26And we think that, you know, Devontae Smith takes a leap forward with the Eagles.
32:30Like, that's all kind of filed under the, yeah, no kidding.
32:34Yes. That's what you expect to have happen, right?
32:36Yes. It's the stuff that we don't expect to happen that actually makes for the best conversations throughout the course of the year.
32:43Patrick Mahomes is being drafted outside the top 12 of quarterbacks.
32:46Travis Kelsey is being drafted outside the top 10 of tight ends.
32:49If they do revive their championship ways, somebody in fantasy football is getting a ton of value because of that.
32:55Let's do another question here really quickly. This one is from HD Productions.
32:59Petterl McMillan leads the NFL in receptions, Field G8.
33:02That is spicy. Now, it's going to require much improved efficiency.
33:05Last year, if you just go look at the sheer number of targets versus the sheer number of catches, he ranked too
33:11low in that category for me to feel great about this take.
33:14Agreed. That's why it's a hot take, though. T-Mac going to play more from the slot this year, which is a huge advantage for any wide receiver.
33:22That kind of unlocked things for Drake London last year.
33:25Drake made that gigantic leap forward. I dig it.
33:28Petterl McMillan going to do that Michael Pittman-Drake-London role as that big guy playing over the middle, right?
33:33I love that kind of a thing. Hopefully, him and Bryce can connect there.
33:37All right. One more question from our mailbag. Nope.
33:39Yeah. This one's going to have to be rejected.
33:42Hot take. Loveland finishes outside the top six of tight ends this year.
33:46I like hot takes, except for when they disagree with my assessment of the player.
33:50Yeah. Agreed on that one. No. Fool me once, by the way.
33:54Shame on me. Fool me twice. Shame on you.
33:56This goes to the conversation that I believe just you and I had yesterday.
34:00I think it was just you and I, because Mike wasn't here.
34:04Yeah. Where we were saying that out of Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland, I believe there's a better chance that Colston Loveland
34:10breaks into the top two of tight ends. Yes.
34:12But there's also a better chance that Tyler Warren finishes a top five player.
34:16Right. At his position. Or maybe I said top four.
34:19Right. Just because there are fewer players he's competing for that I'm interested in the Indianapolis offense.
34:24Yep. Compared to the Chicago offense. Right. Like, I think Roma Dunze and Luther Burden could both be, could each be breakout candidates.
34:31Correct. I think there's a little bit, and I am not necessarily saying this as much as it's going to sound like,
34:37but Tyler Warren is more of a volume play to me.
34:40Colston Loveland is, I am chasing the touchdowns a little bit more just because he is going to have more mouth than
34:47that offense to have to share the football with.
34:49Yes. So the volume just won't be quite as much because of it.
34:53All right. I think we got Mike Clay with another take here.
34:56Where's he at now? Did we leave him on the volcano?
35:00Guys, not again. There's a volcano behind us. I can't keep doing this.
35:03All right. I'm going to have to ramp up my fantasy takes here.
35:07Hopefully this, whatever this thing I found is saves me.
35:10But all right. Look, I think the Chiefs will have two top 20 fantasy wide receivers this season.
35:15Rasheed Rice obviously is one of them. The guy was still really good when he was on the field last season, was
35:21a top 10 score in five of his eight weeks.
35:24He continues to be heavily targeted when he's out there.
35:27So yeah, he's kind of obvious, but Xavier Worthy as well.
35:30Remember he got hurt on his third snap last season.
35:33I think that that guy, you know, if he's healthy this year, can make a lead forward.
35:38He scored 12 touchdowns in 20 games as a rookie.
35:41So that's that. I mean, look, the Chiefs offense is so good.
35:44They're top seven in pass attempts each of the last six years.
35:48So I'm in on that Chiefs passing game. But at this point, I think I could cook some rice on this heat.
35:54I need to get out of here, guys. Save me!
35:57What? What? Yeah. Why is Mike... If he's at a volcano, first off, is that like one of those windshield things that he's wrapped himself in?
36:05It actually did look like one of those things that you put on your windshield when it's really hot.
36:10To keep the sun from reflecting? Right. So when you get into your car, your seat is not a thousand degrees.
36:16But then why is he wrapped around him and shivering?
36:19It looks like he's in the Antarctic rather than being a volcano.
36:22He's a dork. Oh, I love it. I love Mike.
36:25All right. But how about this take? How about this take?
36:28Listen. Getting on that. Honestly, I think there was a thing where Clay Eye thought the takes were getting too spicy and
36:35they had to make Mike turn it down a little bit.
36:38They were like, this is too hot. I think Rashi Rice clearly going to be a top 20 wide receiver if he's still healthy.
36:45Save your worthy. Like, I don't know if it will happen, but I could absolutely get to the path of they want this kid to work out.
36:52And maybe we're talking about a post-hype season here.
36:55I am in a dynasty league, half PPR, where following his rookie season, I made a trade for Xavier Worthy for, I
37:01believe, the 10th overall pick in a 12-team league.
37:04And that person who I made the trade with, our friend Trevor Sikama, who is out there from, he's definitely a Bucs fan.
37:11I think he's from Tampa Bay as well. Ended up drafting Emeka Ibuka.
37:14And I hated that trade after about, I don't know, half the season last year.
37:19Yeah. I thought about that trade a lot. Why'd I do it?
37:22Yeah. Not knowing who he was going to take, obviously.
37:25Not knowing who would be available necessarily. Yeah. But I'd finished third in the league the year prior.
37:30Worthy had this promising season. I know it was garbage time, but he was like ridiculous in the Super Bowl.
37:36Mm-hmm. So this one hurts because I don't know what to make of the player.
37:40Yeah. I was a fan of Xavier Worthy, to be clear, coming out of Texas.
37:44I had legitimate concerns about the player as well.
37:47They were basically like, if you blow on him, is he going to go down?
37:51Because he's so slender. And it felt like last year, all of the concerns I had were realized, despite the fact that
37:58I was very optimistic about Xavier Worthy going into last season after his rookie year.
38:02My brain's in a pretzel when I think about Xavier Worthy as kind of the bottom line.
38:07Yeah. I don't want to make this comp. He's a good player?
38:10Yes. I think he's a good player. But I get nervous with the same thing that you're talking about because of the body size.
38:17And I worry that after what happened last year with Travis Kelsey, we were how many snaps into the season?
38:23Yeah. Three. And it was, and it just felt like there was never like a full recovery to back to the player
38:29that he was supposed to be to start the season.
38:32Yeah. That I'm worried, is this one of those things where we're just waiting for that to happen again because of the slight body?
38:39And this is part of why I don't want to project injuries.
38:42I don't know anything about that. But I'm in part out on Tank Dell because I just am worried about a smaller
38:49player that has had that kind of injury concern this year or in this league.
38:53And Xavier Worthy could go either way for me.
38:56Because if he gets hurt again, then in my mind, the rest of my, basically his career, I'm like, you know, kid
39:02had tons of talent, just couldn't stay healthy in order to be able to have it materialize on the field.
39:08So we make lots of fun of my injury from a few years ago on the beach at Bahamar.
39:13And I'm okay with that. Like it was incredibly stupid.
39:16I'm probably the biggest moron in the history of fantasy.
39:19It was really great for the show, actually. Yeah, good content.
39:22It was really good. And I'm not trying to compare myself to athletes.
39:26Please do. Anyway, but I will just say this.
39:28So when I had my injury, I tore my labrum and as you guys know, separated my shoulder.
39:34And before I ended up having surgery, there was like lots of conversations with doctors.
39:38Like you could just rehab this, right? And the benefits of that are you get to avoid surgery.
39:43It's a little bit less taxing of a recovery process.
39:46But you're much more vulnerable to re-injury, right? And I decided, you know, I have a young family.
39:51I don't want to be one of those guys that I'm holding my kids when they're five, six years old and I
39:57can barely hold them up anymore because I just didn't do the surgery at the time.
40:02How do you guys have this available? That's amazing.
40:05What crap is that? You guys just have this sitting around waiting.
40:08For those listening at home and not watching, our production team just threw up the breaking tweet from Adam Schefter immediately.
40:14Unbelievable. They've just got it sitting in the holster field.
40:17That's amazing. Anyways, the point I was going to make is when there was a, between when I had the injury and
40:23when I had the surgery, even when I was told like, yeah, you can go out and do whatever, you can do things normally.
40:30Like you can go shoot a basketball right now.
40:33While you could do those things physically, there was always something in the back of your mind that was protecting yourself subconsciously.
40:39Yeah. Right. The only comparison I'm making between myself and Xavier Worthy is that even though he was cleared to play and
40:45medical staffers that are looking at him every single day and he is getting way more information than I probably am is
40:52like he, it's the consequences are much different obviously too.
40:55Right. But like he's getting hour by hour evaluations and they're saying like, you're good to go.
41:00Right. Right. I can only imagine that some part of him was a little timid.
41:04I love just for what it's worth. If I compared myself to a professional athlete, it'd probably be a cornhole player.
41:10And I love that you compared yourself to Xavier Worthy.
41:13And I actually think it's pretty on point. All I'd say is just like, I understand a little bit.
41:18If he, if he came out and said like, you know what?
41:22I just wasn't myself last year. Dude, you would know why.
41:25I would understand that more than I would. You specifically would know.
41:28Yeah. Yes. I'm with you on that. I love that.
41:31Also, I still think it's a great take because of Xavier Worthy finishes a top 20 wide receiver.
41:36It also means Patrick Mahomes is probably doing some things for us in fantasy as well.
41:41So that is a, that would be a big one.
41:44All right. Give me yours here. Um, Wanda Robinson.
41:46Yeah. Finishes as a top 10 wide receiver in fantasy football this season.
41:50Wow. About that. Kicking it up a notch right here.
41:53You know, I just, I've come around on Wanda after the last season where I thought for a while he was, he was Jarvis Landry.
42:00He was, it's one of those like typical slot receivers who had a ton of volume come his way, but we weren't
42:06going to see a lot of big play upside.
42:09And Jarvis Landry, to be very clear, better career than Wanda up to this point.
42:13But he was a guy that was often was going to dominate the slot, right?
42:18Yep. These guys, Jarvis Landry, Julian Edelman, Wes Welker before that, a lot of Patriots, Danny Amendola, right?
42:23And these guys are just going to dominate the slot, but don't have like field stretching ability as often.
42:28I felt like Wanda showed me something more last year than I had seen from him previously.
42:33Mm-hmm. Over the past two seasons, Wanda is top seven in both catches and targets.
42:37You guys know I'm a fan of Cardinal Tate, but there's plenty of room for two wide receivers to have a real role in this offense this year.
42:46Definitely. Money was real for Wanda this offseason. Familiarity within the system.
42:49This is number three in terms of scale of hot takes, but he might be one of my, by the end of
42:55the preseason, the biggest risers might be Wanda Robinson for me.
42:58I could, I mean, and as somebody that has proven the consistency, is consistency the sexiest stat in fantasy football?
43:04Probably the most underrated. I mean, it might be.
43:07It's the most underrated in preseason talk, and here's why.
43:10We talk often, you know, we're using data points from prior years, and we'll do things like Josh Allen's been the number
43:16one scoring quarterback in four of the last six seasons.
43:19Yep. Josh happens to be elite and consistent. Right.
43:21But there are other quarterbacks, like the year that Tua finished, whatever it was, seventh in fantasy points that one year, right?
43:28Yeah, he finished seventh, but he had some absolute turd games as well.
43:31I forget the exact finish that Tua had. But the bottom line is that, yeah, it's the end of season point total
43:38can be misleading because you can have 10 good games, seven crap games, and those 10 good games are enough to catapult you.
43:44On top of the fact that if you play 17 games, that's a pretty rare thing now in the NFL.
43:50Yeah. Yep. So you are rewarded at end of season scoring by just being available.
43:54Sure. That's why, you know, I have felt a little less optimistic about the stat that Mike has used so often about
44:01rookie running backs drafted in the top 12 because Ashton Gentry, who was a top 12 running back last year, definitely did
44:07not feel like a top 12 running back week in and week out.
44:11I agree with you. At the end of the season, it makes for like a nice little package to be able to put it together as a stat.
44:19But if you rostered Ashton Gentry as I did in a couple of leagues, it was more frustrating than it felt to look at.
44:26You didn't feel like it was a top 12 running back.
44:29However, I'm going to keep on moving here. Field Jates, my take is.
44:33Four Los Angeles Chargers. What? Finish top seven at the position.
44:36Charlie Kolar. No. Keaton Mitchell. Justin Herbert. Justin Herbert is one of them.
44:40And Quinton Johnston to make that prior to happy.
44:42That was close. None. I probably went none there.
44:45You got one of four. Okay. Justin Herbert. Justin Herbert.
44:48Nailed it. The path to Justin Herbert is, we know what the path is.
44:52And you already kind of talked about it. I'm glad.
44:54I don't know if you did this on purpose.
44:57But Mike McDaniel, that two a season, 2023, two a three for almost 4,700 yards, led the league in passing yards.
45:03Didn't do a lot of the other things that he needed to do.
45:07But I do believe that Justin Herbert is a better quarterback than Tua.
45:11498 rushing last year for 498 rushing yards last year for Herbo.
45:14It's insane. When you look at what he has done, we are clearly, we've seen him do it in the NFL.
45:20Yeah. Right? Last couple of years, and Mike continually reminds us this about Justin Herbert.
45:24Hasn't been great for fantasy. In 2020, he threw for 4,300 yards and 31 touchdowns.
45:29Yep. 2021, he threw 5,000 yards and 38 touchdowns.
45:31Touchdowns. Insane. Even in 2022, he threw 4,700 yards and 25 touchdowns.
45:35I think this is going to be an offense that goes back to that level of Justin Herbert.
45:40We're going to sling it. Like, you know how much the coach loves this kid.
45:44Yeah. They want to get out there and utilize his talents.
45:47So, I see Justin Herbert being an easy top seven quarterback.
45:51And you've got him ranked that way. I've got him, I believe, ranked inside my top 10.
45:55That part isn't the spicy part of the take.
45:58At the running back spot, Omari and Hampton. We know how you feel there.
46:02Still not a spicy part of the take. Honestly, we can move on.
46:06Yeah. Right? And we all have him ranked inside the top 13.
46:09Yeah. Okay. So, we're looking at him as a low-end RB1, a top 12 guy, give or take.
46:14The kicker is Cameron Dicker, the kicker. Hey! If we think that we're going to be in a spot where this Chargers
46:21offense is scoring as many points as they are, even if sometimes we're getting in the end zone more and it's a
46:27lot of extra points, Cameron Dicker, the kicker, could be a top seven guy here as well.
46:32And that leads us to the one that makes it the hardest to be able to complete this, which is Lad McConkie.
46:38Even though we love Lad McConkie, being top seven is going to be difficult.
46:42He was wide receiver 13 as a rookie, right?
46:45And you look at the last couple seasons that Justin Herbert had when I mentioned those big years.
46:502020, 2021, 2022, 2023. He had some really big years.
46:53Yep. In 2021, Keenan Allen was wide receiver 11, Mike Williams was wide receiver 12.
46:57Okay. So, he fed two guys in a major way.
47:00Yep. 2023, Keenan Allen was wide receiver 3 on a points-per-game basis.
47:03Wow. Wide receiver 3 averaged 21 points per game that season, played 10 games.
47:082023 for Keenan Allen? Yeah. Wow. And so, I know that it's possible with Justin Herbert that he can support a top seven wide receiver without question.
47:15He's supported two top 12 guys, and we've seen him do it with Keenan to be able to force feed that guy.
47:22Now, in this Mike McDaniel offense, the path is just that all the things happen like we think it possibly could.
47:28McDaniel unlocks all of the things that we are hoping he's going to.
47:31They go back to Justin Herbert being the quarterback he was earlier on in his career, and this offense just opens up.
47:38Fields, Yates, top seven at four positions. How you feel about that?
47:41I wonder the last time that happened. I wonder it too.
47:44It's probably more recent than we realize. Maybe if our buddy Kevin Pulsifer is listening, KP could maybe tell us.
47:50Kyle Soppy, if he's listening. Yes, Kyle. Probably figure that out.
47:53Yep. Top seven at all four positions. Or at four positions, I should say.
47:57I'm trying to think if there's a recent obvious example.
48:00Maybe the Rams last year? Is there a chance Chase Brown wasn't seven?
48:04He was eight last year. Dang. Come on, Bengals.
48:06Anyways, I digress. Well, think about it. Yeah, I mean, the Bears and the Chargers are under the most amount of pressure
48:13for any offenses this upcoming season, and I say that because collectively, like football brains everywhere are so excited about what these two offenses look like.
48:20In the case of Chicago, you're two of Ben Johnson.
48:23In the case of Los Angeles, you're one of Mike McDaniel.
48:26It's a lot of pressure. Are we at the point where it's almost anything other than perfection is going to feel like
48:33a letdown because we've talked it up so much at this point?
48:36There are offenses around the NFL where if they finish 14th this year, he'll be like, legit.
48:41Way to go. So there are other offenses where if the Bears are 10th in scoring this year, it's going to be like, eh.
48:48Really? Disappointment. That's it? Yeah. Yes. Good one right there.
48:51I'm enjoying these hot takes. Me too. This is a lot of fun.
48:54A lot of fun. Let's take a few more questions from our chat.
48:58Love being able to get these from our guys.
49:01Oh, Jeff C. We love Jeff. New York Jets will finish with two top 10 players at their position.
49:06That's going to be tough. I'm guessing that's Brees Hall and Garrett Wilson?
49:10I would assume so. That's probably the only way that happens, right?
49:13Unless Geno Smith really turns it on. Mike's dedication to Geno Smith.
49:17I am more on the Mike-Geno Smith bandwagon than you are, but I don't think Geno Smith is going to be that good.
49:23Yeah. I mean, okay. Garrett Wilson can be a top 10 wide receiver.
49:27That was not the hard part for me. It's Brees Hall's top 10 running back?
49:31Brees Hall is the hard part for me. I think if he stays healthy, it's possible.
49:36Again, this goes back to the full 17-game season, right?
49:39A couple guys miss just two games, and all of a sudden, even if they average four more points per game, they
49:45miss two, and you've come close to a guy who's lower than you on a points-per-game basis.
49:50We have a fun one coming up. All right, bring it.
49:53Let's do this next one here. This is Zebediah.
49:56Jordan Love is going to be a top five quarterback this season.
49:59I mean, I thought about a Jordan Love hot take.
50:02I didn't go there, but I thought about it.
50:05I thought about it too, but because I brought him up yesterday as a player we hadn't talked about, I decided to stay away from it.
50:12Sit on it. Good call. But honestly, that was...
50:15I think that we should think about the Jordan Love situation maybe a little bit more than we are.
50:20That running game, we don't know what it's going to be.
50:23Major question mark. It's crazy. All of a sudden, we have all this optimism on Marshawn Lloyd.
50:28It could happen. Yes. He could also get hurt.
50:31Yep. He has been barely able to stay healthy when he's not playing.
50:35Now he's going to actually play, and it's like, oh yeah, he's going to A, stay healthy, and B, be really good.
50:41That's a lot to expect out of a guy.
50:44I could see... I mean, Jordan Love could have to Blake Bortles his way through some games, given what that running game looked like.
50:50All right, let's do one more here. This one from MikeMu22.
50:54My hot take is that Tony Pollard, Field Jates, will be this year's Javante Williams and finish as a top 10 back.
51:00I like it. That is a really hot take.
51:02I'm not sure that I know how Tony... I mean, if Tony Pollard is a top 10 running back, that means other
51:09things have really failed for the Titans offense, right?
51:11Yeah. That's the biggest thing, is that Javante Williams played really well last year.
51:15Couldn't be more... It's awesome to see a guy post-type breakout get a new contract that he deserves.
51:21It was a great offense last year. Yep. Not confident it's a great offense in Tennessee.
51:25Yeah. It's a hot take. It is a hot take.
51:28Yeah. Love the hot take. All right, we got one more here, and then we're going to move on.
51:34King Rancelot, hot take, no quarterback will finish as QB5 out of respect.
51:37That's good. I like that. Shout out to our guy, Jaden Daniels.
51:41It would be amazing if at the end of the season, like week 18, Jaden Daniels, like, I don't know, last play
51:47of the game, like takes a knee to bring his season-long rushing total to 1,005.
51:51How good would that be? It would be amazing.
51:54That would be so funny. So good. All right, I think we're going to check in on Mike one more time.
52:00I wonder where he's at now. Uh, what? Where?
52:03Guys, I thought we were going home, but now I'm here.
52:06All right. I don't know what to do at this point, but I guess I'll just give you my spiciest take at this point.
52:13I think the New York Giants will have a top 10 finisher in fantasy points at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver this season.
52:19Jackson Dart, I've been talking about him all offseason.
52:22He was terrific. Last year as a rookie, and now if he's healthy, I think he's going to be tremendous.
52:28Cam Scadaboo, he was RB6 last year when he was the lead back for the Giants.
52:32So I'm going to stick with him. I think he can do it.
52:36And then, of course, no shocker here necessarily, but Malik Nabors, if he's healthy, I think he can do it just like he did in his rookie season.
52:44So it's bold to lean that far into New York Giants.
52:47I guess this is the only place I could really do that as an Eagles fan, but that's where we're going to go with this season.
52:55So that's all I got. I would appreciate you getting me.
52:58Tyler? Tyler Fulgib's here. That was good. Mike placed in here at the gates of the fantasy hell where 30-year-old running backs have a first-round ADP.
53:05Oh, wait. You guys actually have a first-round ADP and a 30-year-old running back, don't you?
53:10That's real life. Wow. My bad. I'm scorching. My bad.
53:13Anyways, how do you feel about Mike's take here?
53:15Um, I honestly. Didn't feel that spicy to me.
53:18Yeah. It felt like a take. Like Jackson Dart.
53:21I want this to happen. Are already inside my top 10 for their position.
53:25So it's kind of just Cam Scadaboo. Yeah. I'm a little nervous.
53:28I've talked about like the Najee Harris of it all with Cam Scadaboo.
53:32Um, but I mean, if I have him as RB20 and I've got the other two guys already as top 10 players.
53:38Yeah. This counts. This plays for me. I agree with you.
53:41I mean, I kind of wish he had included Isaiah Likely in here as well.
53:46I. Has he been one of our more under-discussed players?
53:49Definitely. This season? Definitely. The hype has been good surrounding Isaiah Likely.
53:52Yeah, I think. He's become a recent target for me.
53:55I believe that we talked. Liz and I talked about him a little bit more earlier in the season when there was
54:01question marks around will Malik Nabors be healthy at the beginning?
54:04If not, there was the idea that maybe he could be one of the number one pass catchers in this offense at least to lead it.
54:12We'll see what that means. But with the rumblings that Malik Nabors seems to be trending towards playing sooner rather than later, even if not week one.
54:20Yeah. I just, it feels like some of that zhuzh has come off of Isaiah Likely, but I think that's the time
54:26to get on him like you're talking about, Field.
54:28Zhuzh. That's a Liz term. That's a Liz term.
54:31What does zhuzh mean? I don't know. I just say it.
54:34It just sounds cool. Yeah. Yes, that's right. When Liz says stuff, it just sounds cool.
54:39What about you? Where are you going with your hot take here at the gates of fantasy hell?
54:44You know, in life, it's important to know your audience.
54:47Yeah. It's important to make people you work with happy.
54:50Lift them up. It's also important to give accurate fantasy takes.
54:53Okay. And Jared Goff will finish. It's a top three scoring quarterback this season.
54:57Let's go, baby! Yeah! I'm going to do one of these.
55:00He's going to do the Amara. I will do the Amara.
55:03That would be amazing. Can you do that? No, I can't do that, but I will.
55:08We have a gymnastics crazed house right now. We're on cartwheels.
55:11The next thing is headstands. Jared Goff has finished as high as QB7 before.
55:15Yes. So it's not like quarterback three is totally implausible for him based off what we have seen up to this point in his career.
55:22He is going to need to have an absolutely monster season, though, as a thrower because he adds zero as a runner.
55:28I just stated the obvious right there. I'm going to come back to a few factors here.
55:33All right. Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions are favored in 14 of their first 15 games.
55:38The seats in the schedule is unbelievably favorable. It is.
55:41Now, does that mean that they are favored? Like being favored should equate to points scored.
55:46It also just means they're playing bad teams. I think there's just opportunities to score here.
55:50Mike earlier, I referenced his PDF, which has basically his forecast for the entire season.
55:55The Lions are forecasted by Mike to score the fourth most points in the NFL, a take that I generally agree with.
56:01I believe it was the Rams at one. Maybe the Bills at two.
56:05The Lions right there in the top four with the Cowboys as well.
56:08So Bills, Cowboys, Rams and Lions. The top four scoring offenses.
56:12Totally think it's possible here. On top of that, the 14 of 15 games that I mentioned, also very notable.
56:17Weather has been a thing for Jared Goff, of course.
56:20Better playing inside than versus outside. You look at his December schedule.
56:24He plays two home games and then two road dome games.
56:27I think Jared Goff is just in for an absolutely massive season, potentially, which is why I know I'm very low on him with my overall rankings.
56:35But this is a hot take. So I'm going Jared Goff.
56:38Did you say his December schedule is two home games and then who wrote a dome?
56:42So all four of the potentially weather affected weeks in December, he is going to be playing in a dome.
56:48That is a big thing for Jared Goff. The only quarterback over the last three seasons to have at least 4,500 passing
56:54yards and 30 touchdowns in each of the three seasons.
56:57The path to this field is a path that makes me nervous, though, because we saw Matthew Stafford do it last year.
57:04Yeah. But that was so reliant on the passing game.
57:06And if that happens, that probably means Jameer Gibbs disappoints in some way that we talk about, right?
57:12Unless he unlocks the CMC part of his receiving game and all of a sudden he just mashes as a receiver.
57:18So a couple things here. I forgot to mention the Lions have all kinds of injuries in the secondary, which means this defense could be very vulnerable.
57:25I also felt like my argument was much more incongruent with my rankings than the other hot takes that I have delivered up to this point.
57:33I love it, though. I have my concerns about Jared Goff because while he could throw for 300 yards every single week,
57:39of course, there's the possibility of Jared Goff having some stinkers in there with 100.
57:43He could even have good games. 190 passing yards, one passing touchdown.
57:47But Jameer Gibbs has 150 total rushing yards and two touchdowns.
57:50And the Lions still win a game. This is one of those things with him where he'll have that game that is
57:56really unfortunate for fantasy, but he's 17 of 19 for 198 yards and a touchdown.
58:01Mike hasn't projected for 50 rushing yards, which is crazy to me.
58:04That's unbelievable. There's no ways getting to 50. No.
58:07Just zero chance whatsoever. So yeah, Jared Goff, top three scoring quarterback.
58:10That's my hottest take yet. I love it. No, that is a spicy take, Field Jates.
58:15I love it. I have our closest. Before you deliver yours, because you have a great final last take.
58:20Kyle Soppy, Mr. Dependable. Yes. The Jaguars missed that top seven thing last year, but they did have four in the top 10 in total points.
58:28Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne, Achan, shoot. Their defense and Cam Little all were top 10.
58:32Defense and Cam Little. Okay. All right. Yep. All right.
58:35I think that's going to be a tough one.
58:37We'll see if we can make it happen. All righty.
58:40Here is my hottest take for the gates of fantasy hell.
58:44It is that Travis Achan, the aforementioned Travis Achan, finishes as RB1 this season.
58:48Not an RB1, as in the RB1? The RB1 in fantasy football, Field Jates.
58:52Let's have a day. Kellen Moore offense, fastest paced offense in the NFL.
58:55You look at everything that Travis Achan has done in his past.
58:59He was RB3 in 2023. That wasn't that long ago.
59:02No, it wasn't. He was really good that season.
59:04Third in touches. Excuse me. Sixth in touches. Fifth in receiving yards.
59:08And you look at what Alvin Kamara, I know it's a different offensive coordinator, has done here.
59:13If there's a chance and part of the path is Alvin Kamara probably can't play a large role here in this offense.
59:19That is a part of the path. But we've seen the passing game work that this running back can have in a Saints offense.
59:26And that's one of the things. If he touches the ball 300 plus times, if he gets that passing game work, if
59:32Alvin Kamara isn't there and he is that lead back and we're in this offense where we feel like the Saints are
59:38always trying to not only play fast because that's what they do, but they're going to be competitive in the NFC South,
59:45being able to go out there, whether they're grinding it out or trying to come back in games.
59:50Travis Achan is going to be the guy. Really spicy take, but we have seen the running back from the Saints be
59:56a top three running back in the fantasy football echelons before.
59:59We have. We've seen Travis Achan be a top three running back in the past before.
60:04All the things have to come together perfectly. But why not have this new kid in this new offense?
60:09Yeah. Just unlock the Saints. Travis Achan has RB1 this season, baby.
60:13New pronunciation. New upside. That's right. I dig it.
60:15Yeah. I mean, this is a ridiculously hot take.
60:18Spicy. Yeah. It's good. It's really good. Real spicy.
60:21All right. Yeah. I like it. I just think it'd be fun.
60:24The thing is when someone delivers a take this hot, the thing you can counter with is like, oh yeah, it's not going to happen.
60:31Okay. Thanks. Do you feel like he is in the running back dead zone at this point?
60:36No, I don't. I like him. I think he's ahead of.
60:39He's a target. Dead zone's like five spots later.
60:42I agree. I think like DeAndre Swift, Cam Scadaboo are at the back end of the, I'm good with those running backs.
60:48It starts to get dicey with like the Bucky Irving, Ramondre Stevenson types.
60:52Yes. I'm with you on that. Guys that are maybe moving up a little bit, but you still, Basial Tootin.
60:58Yep. Those are the question marks that I have.
61:00I would not at all be shocked if Travis Achan was a top 12, top 10 running back this season.
61:06We're a top one. That's why, like, that's why it's my hot take.
61:10Cause I wouldn't be shocked if he was top 12, but for him to get to one is, even to be top three is going to be tough.
61:18But I think, I mean, you know, let's talk about spicy takes.
61:21This isn't cold takes. Why not put our chest into a field, Jake?
61:25This is not cold takes. This is hot takes.
61:28That's right. All right. Let's take a couple more here from our chat.
61:31Love being able to hear from you guys. As Red Pants Brigade says, hot take, nobody suffers anymore injuries and all of
61:38our teams are happy and sunshine and rainbows. Can we manifest that?
61:41Injuries are kind of... Real. You know, I think that we will, one of us will probably get injured doing one of these things.
61:48Like if we have a leg wax coming up, right?
61:51Yeah. Does that count as an injury? I don't know.
61:54No. Well, it's going to hurt. Yeah, it is going to hurt.
61:57I'm not going to feel good about it. We have a lot of fun ones coming up.
62:02Make sure that you continue to check back in with us.
62:05Field and I had so much fun hanging out with you guys today.
62:09We'll find a way to bring Mike back the next time that he is on the show.
62:14We're not going to be here on Monday. We are going to be celebrating our labor.
62:18No labor on Labor Day. That's right. So we will be back on Tuesday.
62:22Have fun this weekend. Huge draft weekend here. Make sure you check in on all of the things.
