0:00Hey, let's chat about choosing the best tool for the job.
0:04When the pressure's on, you find out what's really built for the moment.
0:08That's true late in the fourth quarter of a big game, and it's true when there's work to get done on a deadline.
0:16On the job site, conditions change, the clock keeps moving, and the tools you reach for have to be ready to handle it again and again.
0:25That's why DeWalt tests its tools under real-world conditions that push even the best tools to their limit.
0:31Only then does a tool earn the DeWalt badge.
0:34So when the pressure is high and the work needs to get done, DeWalt tools are built to perform, built to last, and built to finish strong.
0:43DeWalt. Guaranteed tough. Available at the Home Depot. How doers get more done.
0:48What's good, friends? Welcome into Fantasy Focus. Monday morning, Rapid Reaction alongside Liz Loza.
0:52My name is Daniel Dopp. A little behind the scenes here, pulling back the curtain.
0:58Liz and I are taping this Sunday night before Sunday night football.
1:02Liz, it's 8.15 my time. That means it's only 5.15 your time.
1:06I'm so freaking jealous that it's not even dinner time where you live yet.
1:10No, the sun is still shining. I have a whole evening ahead of me, but who cares about that?
1:17Because behind both of us was an exhilarating day of NFL football.
1:21Oh, so much fun. We're going to talk about it.
1:24Rapid reaction of our biggest takeaways. But first and foremost, we're going to quickly get through a couple of injuries.
1:31Ouch, baby. Very ouch. We're going to start with the scariest moment of the day.
1:36It was Kyler Murray who was concussed in the first quarter on a play that drew an unnecessary roughness penalty.
1:43He was ruled out for the remainder of the game.
1:47Now we'll discuss the Vikings and Packers matchup a little bit later.
1:51But obviously, we need to have further information to determine what Kyler's prognosis will be moving forward.
1:56Zay Flowers in the Baltimore Ravens game exited early with a hamstring issue.
2:01He also did not return to the contest. But before he did leave, he gifted fantasy managers with 26 fantasy points.
2:08In that same effort, his fellow wide receiver Jacoby Lane hurt his wrist and also left the contest.
2:14We have to keep tabs on both of these receivers.
2:17Flowers was on the way to having an incredible day.
2:21Baltimore hosts the Saints in Week 2. When we look at the Commanders-Eagles game, my guy Chig Okonkwo, who was making his Washington debut, tweaked his hamstring.
2:30He left. Now I am interested to see if that was why Antonio Williams was able to be so productive in the second half.
2:38Now Williams is a rookie slot receiver. I have a really good feeling about him moving forward.
2:44So let's monitor that situation. And finally, Ladd McConkie, my goodness, he took a crazy hard hit from Cardinals linebacker Mac Wilson.
2:51Hurt his chest. Did not return. And interestingly, in that matchup, because McConkie is such a fantasy name and star, Daniel, you
2:59had rostered him and were playing him against me in a matchup that we were.
3:04You don't want to. Would you not want to talk about that?
3:08Maybe I should. You know, that is a thing.
3:11You did get a little bit of a bump because of that.
3:15He was crushing until that moment, unfortunately. But we will definitely monitor the Ladd McConkie situation.
3:21Hopefully it is just a this week kind of a thing and we'll be able to find out more from Adam Schefter as we move on.
3:30But yeah, hopefully I get more from my guy Ladd McConkie as we move into week two.
3:35All right, Liz, let's dive into a new segment that we have called What the Fantasy?
3:41Boy, that escalated quickly. I mean, that really got out of hand fast.
3:45Well, I thought the Bears game got out of hand in like a really good way because Ben Johnson said he wanted
3:53the Bears to be the highest scoring offense in the league.
3:56And he made good on that promise, at least in week one, because the Bears Panthers contest was the highest scoring week one effort in NFL history.
4:06And yet this is the WTF moment. Colston Loveland, one of the most highly drafted and coveted players, posted a goose egg for fantasy managers.
4:14He was unable to convert either of his looks, though it is worth mentioning that one of them sailed right through his fingers in the end zone.
4:23So while the stat line obviously stinks, I am not scared.
4:27He is highly valued. I'm going to lean into it.
4:31The Bears host the Vikings in week two, another divisional matchup.
4:34While it may not be ideal from, you know, a Minnesota defense versus Chicago offense as it pertains to tight end position
4:42perspective, it is worth mentioning that the Vikings gave up 65 yards to Tucker Craft in week one.
4:48So I'm not pushing the panic button on Loveland just yet.
4:52Okay, not pushing the panic button, but zero points in week one when they scored an NFL record, Liz Loza.
4:58What the? That's the thing. What the heck happened there?
5:02Crazy. How about my guy, Christian Watson? Can I tell you that it's really tough when you talk down about a guy
5:09all draft season only for him to come out and smash in week one?
5:14And here's the thing. When you're talking draft season, I'm worried about season-long prognosis, but week one is a weekly game.
5:21I'm just trying to beat my opponent in week one, and Christian Watson helped you do that.
5:27Six catches, 147 yards, two tutties, and he had eight targets.
5:31There is a reason for me to be concerned about whether or not he's going to be consistent and healthy for the
5:38entire year, but Liz, when this dude is healthy, this is what he brings to the table as a field stretcher for Jordan Love.
5:46100%. Christian Watson may not be the most targeted receiver in the Packers offense, but he is the one with the highest
5:54ceiling, and he proved that particularly on an 81-yard grab against a nut.
5:58I love these division rival games to open the season.
6:02This is my favorite thing in week one is just to see the clash immediately.
6:07It didn't work out for the Packers, who are now last place in the division.
6:12Ultimately, but Christian Watson's ceiling and volatility were both baked into his ADP.
6:16I am feeling very good about him, and I'm feeling even better knowing that he plays the Jets in week two.
6:23Ooh, mama. All right, let's dive into our biggest takeaways from the week.
6:28And here we go. Well, let's start with two running backs that proved to be worthy of the 1.01 picks.
6:35Both Jameer Gibbs and Bijan Bijan Robinson cooked in week one.
6:38Now, Gibbs touched the ball 34 times for a total of 186 yards and two rushing scores.
6:4433.6 fantasy points in week two. He will see the bills, but we still love what he did.
6:50Dan Campbell said that he wanted Jameer Gibbs to be his bell cow, and he's doing just that.
6:56Certainly is. Over in the ATL, Bijan Robinson, who traveled to Pittsburgh, touched the ball 29 times for 173 total yards, as well as a receiving touchdown.
7:06No to a tongue of Iloa, no problem. Cooper Rush just handed that ball, checked it on down to Bijan Robinson, and
7:13earned fantasy managers over 31 fantasy points in the process.
7:17By the way, Bijan gets the Panthers in week two.
7:20We're going to talk about DeAndre Swift a little bit later, but we like that matchup for Robinson.
7:26Yeah, both of those running backs absolutely smashed this week.
7:29How about a wide receiver that we didn't expect, Liz?
7:33And Jalen Coker. Oh my gosh. Eight for 138 and two touchdowns here in this game against your Chicago Bears.
7:40And part of this, this is a little bit of game script, because the Panthers just had to stay, you know, throwing.
7:47They had to keep up with all of this one.
7:51But then why did Ted O'Rolle McMillan only have five for 75?
7:55Are we worried that maybe the sleeper is waking up and becoming a bigger part of this offense?
8:01I'm not worried about it. I think it's great, and I do think you're right, that game script needs to be factored into this equation and also coverage.
8:10We know that Ted is the number one wide receiver and was drawing the tougher defensive coverage here.
8:16I think that Jalen Coker is certainly, after today, worthy of topping Eric Moody's waiver wire list today as well.
8:23Yes, I'm with you on that. As you know, managing maintenance, repair, and operations is never easy.
8:29But for the ones who always rise to the challenge, Grainger has your back.
8:34From professional-grade products you can count on to fast, dependable delivery, they're there to help you keep things running smoothly.

8:59When you're hosting during football season, you've got to be ready for every kind of craving.
9:05Somebody wants fresh pizza, somebody wants crispy wings, and somebody's asking if there's sliders.
9:10That's why you need more than one call in the playbook.
9:13Frigidaire offers a range with over 15 cooking modes, so you can tackle hosting with confidence.
9:19There's a stone-baked pizza for restaurant-quality pizza in as little as two minutes.
9:23Air fry mode for crispy favorites, and air sous vide for juicy, tender sliders.
9:28Plus, there's slow cook, no preheat, and more. That's the game time MVP combo.
9:33Stone-baked pizza and air fry both built right into your oven.
9:36So whether you're ready for kickoff or feeding a full house, Frigidaire has every craving covered.
9:42Available at the Home Depot. How doers get more done.
9:45Only when using stone-baked pizza mode, cook time requires preheat and reheat and may vary based on ingredients.
9:51Many people's first serious relationship didn't start with a kiss.
9:55It started with a kickoff. Or perhaps it was love at first hike.
9:59But unfortunately, many of these football lovers don't live in the same city as their team, which is why Marriott Bonvoy has
10:07hotels close to nearly every NFL stadium, bringing fans closer to the teams they love with over 30 different hotel brands.
10:14So if you want to stay closer to your team, check in for game day with Marriott Bonvoy, the official sponsor of the NFL.
10:22We'll see you there. All right, let's talk about the next one.
10:26How about Derrick Henry? I mean, listen, we talked about how Derrick Henry, being an older running back, sometimes I've said some
10:34maybe not great things about over 30-year-old running backs, but Derrick Henry is not one of those guys.
10:40He's got a body that seems like it just won't quit, and we saw that.
10:4524 carries, 144 yards. How many touchdowns did he have?
10:48Did he have three touchdowns? Three, a hat trick for Derrick Henry.
10:52And you know what I think is the most interesting about this is that there was, I don't know, not just because
11:00of his age and because of the odometer rating, if you will, on Henry, but the fact that there was a new
11:07regime coming, new coaching regime coming over, a new offensive coordinator.
11:11And Declan Doyle said, my goodness, I want to say right after the calendar shifted into 2026, that he wanted to, quote, hunt big plays.
11:19And my goodness, at least for one Sunday, he did that both with Derrick Henry and with the offense as a whole.
11:27I mean, Derrick Henry had at least one run over 30 yards.
11:31So that running back cliff that people like to talk about, he ain't on it yet.
11:37No, no. And Lamar Jackson looked fantastic, especially when, say, Flowers was healthy.
11:41Those two looked great while they were out there.
11:44So I'm very excited to see what this offense looks like next week against the Saints.
11:49What about David Montgomery, Liz? I got to give you some props.
11:54You were talking about this dude the entire offseason, and then he comes out, also pulls a hat trick out of his pocket here in week one.
12:03Girl. Girl, congratulations. Thank you. Thank you. Yes, here's a really cool stat.
12:07David, this was David Montgomery's first multi-rushing touchdown game since week three, ironically, against the Ravens last season when he was a member of the Lions.
12:16So, you know, I think we have to temper expectations.
12:19But all of that, Woody Marks is going to steal.
12:23No. David Montgomery heard y'all calling him old, and he said not.
12:27No. Girl, the perfect RB2 right now. All the things that we talked about, it was almost, it looked exactly like you had thought.
12:35Let's run the ball as good as we can.
12:38They tried to play good defense. Turns out, Josh Allen still is very good at quarterback position.
12:44But anyways, let's move ahead and talk about the other side of that one.
12:49DJ Moore kind of heard the same thing. We were like, you know what?
12:53No, no, no. Against the Texans, you got to fade this guy.
12:57And then he shows up with five for a hundo and a touchdown.
13:0221 fantasy points in his debut. Another former bear just showing folks that he needed opportunity.
13:07Not that he was washed. That Josh Allen, in fact, had been begging for a reliable downfield threat for years, and he finally got it in DJ Moore.
13:17You know, there was a lot of talk to you heading into this game about, like, Moore being used as a decoy.
13:24You guys, DJ, don't overthink this. Josh Allen needs something.
13:28And when Josh Allen asks for something, he's Josh Allen, so he gets it.
13:33And DJ Moore is the player that the front office decided to gift Josh Allen to.
13:38Y'all, DJ Moore, even though he's not flashy, even though he's not 24 years old, he can still produce and he is
13:45still attached to the best quarterback in football, period.
13:49I'm with you on that one, Liz. He looked fantastic here in week one.
13:53Excited to see what he looks like next week, or maybe not that excited, against my Lions in week two.
14:00Girl, is Geno cooked or is he not cooked?
14:03Okay, it's the opposite of that. Gino can still cook.
14:07Gino is still stable. You know, we play this little game on Fantasy Focus Countdown, FFC, the show that you and I do on Sunday mornings.
14:15There's this little segment called the Survivor segment, and I decided that I was going to take the Jets because I believed
14:23in the stability that Gino Smith could offer. And I also thought that that stability might, by extension beyond this little Survivor game, help stabilize Garrett Wilson's floor.
14:32Both of those things happened. I mean, Garrett Wilson converted six of seven for 79.
14:38Is it exciting? No. But does that mean that via volume and decent efficiency, he can provide low and wide receiver numbers?
14:45Sure. Does it also mean that I get to crow an insufferable about next Sunday when I'm on set with you because
14:52I picked the Jets, which everybody balked at? Both things are true.
14:57Yeah, I'm with you. Honestly, what we saw from the Jets today, whether you liked it or not because you watched the
15:04game, was what we want in fantasy football. It was a two-headed fantasy attack in Brees Hall at the running back position and him featuring Garrett Wilson.
15:13He had seven targets. The next closest wide receiver or anyone else on the team was three targets.
15:19So he clearly the number one wide receiver there.
15:22You know who wasn't the number one pass target in his offense, Liz?
15:27Are you going to say it wasn't Kenny Gainwell?
15:30Yeah. What happened here? Bucky Irving like took over.
15:33We were all in on Gainwell being the guy.
15:36We hyped him up, especially with that pass catching ability.
15:39And then not only did he disappoint from a running ability, but it was Bucky Irving with seven for 48 on seven targets.
15:47I think that is the most surprising part. Now, I will totally own this.
15:52I wrote about how I was down on Bucky Irving.
15:55I pounded the table for Gainwell in PPR because of his pass catching ability all summer.
16:01I will fully own it. And I was definitely surprised.
16:04Not so much that Irving led in terms of carries, especially with Sean Tucker not playing, but that Gainwell, who's coming off
16:12of this career season from a pass catching perspective, would just manage one target and one reception.
16:18Wild to think that game in general against the Bengals, the Bucks-Bengals game was there's a there's a lot going on in Tampa Bay.
16:26Yes, I'm with you. I'm with you. We got to figure some things out there because I that running back room is
16:33going to be something interesting to figure out. All right.
16:37Really quickly. We got two more things. One more thing I want to talk about before we move on.
16:43Justin Jefferson. Unfortunately, we talked off the top. Lost this guy in Kyler Murray.
16:48But Carson Wentz did the best that he could to give us exactly what we needed.
16:53Eight catches on nine targets for Justin Jefferson, 92 yards and most importantly, two targets in the end zone to 31.2 fantasy points.
17:01Is this one of those things, Liz, where it's just like, well, of course we knew that the value you were getting
17:09on just Justin Jefferson at the end of the first round was going to be too good.
17:14I mean, I think that my issue with the argument was that everyone was expecting Kyler Murray to be the savior, but
17:22I don't think that Kyler Murray needed to be the savior.
17:26I think everybody was confused about the fact that, do you know that J.J.
17:30McCarthy entered this game as the Vikings emergency QB3?
17:33Yeah. Right. Like, I think we were so, um, the, like the, the smoke of the J.J.
17:39McCarthy bomb that hit confused us about Justin Jefferson's ability to produce despite the talent under center.
17:45And he does have a rapport with Carson Wentz.
17:48So as long as Justin Jefferson is buoyed and producing, I'm not really concerned with who's under center.
17:54He looked pretty happy here in week one. He was getting the football.
17:59Especially when they upset the Green Bay Packers, which means the Packers are in last place in the NFC North.
18:05Just saying. Love that. Gotta love that. All right.
18:08Last one. I really don't want to talk about this, but I know we have to because there were so many massive fantasy potential players in this game.
18:18The Chargers. I mean, I think that we nailed Lad McConkie.
18:22Five for 82 and a touchdown on seven targets.
18:25And he left early, unfortunately. But, like, he was looking like we had expected as the number one target in a Mike McDaniel offense with Justin Herbert.
18:34That's a potential elite upside. Everyone else that felt like just sort of disappointed.
18:39Quentin Johnston. I know he had six targets, but he didn't really deliver.
18:43Omari and Hampton. Super grateful that he found the end zone because he was not utilized as a pass catcher.
18:50Otherwise, it would have felt like a terrible day for him.
18:54Were we way off on the Chargers in this McDaniel offense?
18:57Or is that an overreaction here in week one?
19:01I think it's a bit of an overreaction in week one.
19:04I think, could we have really just underestimated the Cardinals given the new regime that was coming in?
19:10By the way, one LeFleur brother very happy. The other one, again, quite literally upset.
19:16Yes, I think that maybe, especially the run game, right?
19:19Because we saw Jeremiah Love make his NFL debut and so much of last season for the Cardinals was a below average
19:26run game, which I think meant that the offense kept flailing like I am to get out this sentence, right?
19:33But now that there is an established run game, the offense can find more of a foundation.
19:39It can find more balance. And so I think I'm unsure if we just underestimated the Cardinals rather than overestimated the Chargers.
19:46I want to see how this Bolts squad responds in week two against the Raiders.
19:52So there is a good matchup for them. There is no excuse for them in week two.
19:57No, no. One thing that did not change, even with Drew Petzin, the OC that used to be in Arizona, now moving
20:05on to the Detroit Lions, Trey McBride's still good at football.
20:09Nine for 95 and a touchdown on 13 targets.
20:12That guy is going to be amazing no matter what.

20:49Every game day starts before the lights go up.
20:52Before the snap. Before the roar. Something's already at work.
20:56Cleaner, quieter energy production. Running where the game lives.
20:59Strong enough for fourth and goal. Smart enough for what comes next.
21:03Powering game day. Powering the fans and powering the communities that show up every Saturday.
21:08The same energy that runs your stadium, runs the schools, and the hospital in your neighborhood.
21:14That is performance. Powered by Bloom Energy. Powering game days.
21:17Powering communities. Shohei Otani's interpreter was fired today. Ipe Mitsuhara ran up gambling debts to a Southern California bookmaking operation.
21:24The inside story of the biggest scandal in modern baseball.
21:27He was absolutely bananas the amount of bets he was making.
21:31I've never seen anyone like it. From 30 for 30 podcasts, this is The Betrayal of Shohei Otani.

21:41Alright, Liz Loza, let's do one final segment before we get out of here.
21:46Just when I think you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this.
21:52And totally redeem yourself! Liz Loza. Liz Loza. I, you know, did admit that I was wrong about Bucky Irving, but I
22:00got a lot of slack for pumping up DeAndre Swift in the week one edition of Facts vs.
22:06Feelings, the column. I was very excited about him.
22:09And we just talked about two other running backs that managed hat tricks.
22:13Well, DeAndre Swift was another one. He carried the ball 18 times for over 120 yards and three rushing scores.
22:20Now, the matchup was solid. The Panthers did put a lot of resources into this defense to pump up the run defense.
22:27But as we like to say, both you and I regularly, evolution takes time.
22:32Transitions don't happen overnight. And we obviously saw that not only is DeAndre Swift ultra dynamic and the clear RB1.
22:39Also, if DeAndre Swift keeps blocking the way that he did in this game, he's not leaving the field.
22:45It is worth mentioning that Kyle Monungay did manage 100 rushing yards and he found the end zone.
22:52He had an incredible like 61 yard run. That was awesome.
22:55I think, though, that had more to do with the matchup than with volume.
23:00So I wouldn't rely on it a ton. But I do think that Swift is the definitive RB1.
23:06And with so many field stretchers, even if they didn't get fed necessarily the way we wanted them to in this contest,
23:14Swift is going to find holes and produce on a regular basis.
23:18He looked unbelievable this week. Revitalized. He did. He looked revitalized.
23:22Just it's basically if you've played running back for the Detroit Lions.
23:26I mean, Jameer Gibbs looked great. David Montgomery looked great.
23:29DeAndre Swift. Maybe that's what it is, Liz. Maybe that's.
23:32Well, who was the OC when he was in Detroit?
23:36Okay, I see what you're trying to do there.
23:39And that's now his head. I mean, he did Wally Pippen.
23:43But, you know, Ben Johnson might have a touch.
23:46I want to say something. I got my Drake call wrong.
23:49Drake may call. Drake, Drake may may call wrong.
23:52Because I still trusted him this week when I shouldn't have against Seattle.
23:57To be honest, heading in to halftime, he had 10 fantasy points.
24:01He had almost 40 yards rushing and a passing touchdown.
24:04I felt good. And then he fell apart. But you know what I wasn't wrong about?
24:10Tell him. The number one quarterback in fantasy football, Josh Allen.
24:14I mean, the dude was unbelievable. If there was one person to say, you know what?
24:19No matter what I do, I'm going to have him as my quarterback one every single week.
24:25It's Josh Allen. Because he is Superman. 334 passing yards.
24:28Two passing touchdowns. 23 rushing yards. Two rushing touchdowns at the goal line.
24:33The number two quarterback in the game. 35.6 fantasy points.
24:36Only behind your guy, Caleb Williams. Who had over 37 fantasy points in week one.
24:41Josh Allen. I mean, listen. We know that he was going to be good.
24:46Mike Clay only missed his projection by like 15 points.
24:49Or maybe a little bit more than that. We didn't expect him to drop 35.
24:54But come on. Josh Allen. Unbelievable. Still always deserves to be QB1.
24:58I've got to give you props on this. Because you were the only ESPN ranker that had Josh Allen as your QB1.
25:06Despite the matchup at Houston. I think some. I had him as my QB3.
25:11You had him as the QB1 heading into Sunday's action.
25:14And I feel like sometimes we get a little bit in our head.
25:19Because we see all these numbers. All these stats.
25:22And we know the Houston defense is incredible. And we saw how Allen has struggled against this defense historically.
25:28And in past efforts. And so, you know, the data said we should downgrade him.
25:33You, though, believed in the Superman. And you were rewarded.
25:37Congratulations. All right, Liz Loza. That's going to do it for us.
25:41I'll put a wrap on the very first edition of the Fantasy Focus Monday Morning Rapid Reaction Podcast.
