A.J. Brown

PositiveUsage100:13

The source suggests that A.J. Brown will benefit from Drake Maye's improved play, specifically helping the offense navigate and succeed against cover defenses as the season progresses.

Insight page

Aaron Jones

NegativeUsage55:29

The source warns that Aaron Jones' current workload of 25 touches per week is unsustainable and he will not hold up for the remainder of the season at that volume.

Insight page

Brian Thomas Jr.

NegativeDepth Chart32:31

The source suggests the Jaguars are unlikely to extend Brian Thomas Jr. long-term, viewing Parker Washington as the primary wide receiver to lock up.

Insight page

Brock Purdy

PositiveProjection45:16

Brock Purdy is playing at an MVP level and has proven he can elevate the offense despite injuries to teammates; he is no longer just a system quarterback. He is a strong candidate for the NFC's one seed, and his ability to create off-script separates him from previous Kyle Shanahan quarterbacks.

Insight page

C.J. Stroud

PositiveProjection15:49

Erickson believes the trade for Marvin Harrison Jr. is positive for CJ Stroud, as Stroud now has a receiver he has built-in rapport with and who can help the offense move the chains.

Insight page

Chase Brown

NegativeValue107:28

While the source acknowledges Chase Brown has a better fantasy role than Jalen Warren, they argue Warren is the superior NFL running back, particularly regarding receiving efficiency and overall talent.

Insight page

Christian McCaffrey

NegativeInjury28:42

Derek Brown notes that Christian McCaffrey is one of the few healthy bodies remaining in the 49ers' offense.

Insight page

Christian Watson

PositiveUsage22:19

Christian Watson had a field day against the Bears, benefiting from Jordan Love's aggressive downfield passing approach.

Insight page

D.J. Moore

NegativeMatchup5:41

Erickson notes that his fantasy opponent for the week has DJ Moore and Davante Adams.

Insight page

Dallas Goedert

NegativeUsage5:14

Erickson mentions he failed to start Dallas Goedert in his fantasy league, opting for Jake Ferguson instead.

Insight page

Dare Ogunbowale

NegativeUsage20:12

Derek Brown dismisses the idea that Dare Ogunbowale provides hope for the Texans' run game, noting that the offensive line cannot open holes.

Insight page

Davante Adams

NegativeMatchup5:41

Erickson notes that his fantasy opponent for the week has DJ Moore and Davante Adams.

Insight page

David Montgomery

NegativeInjury20:31

David Montgomery is dealing with a groin injury that may cause him to miss time, further complicating the Texans' struggling run game.

Insight page

Deebo Samuel

NegativeInjury25:11

Deebo Samuel is dealing with a hamstring injury, which is a significant blow to the 49ers' offense.

Insight page

Drake Maye

PositiveProjection3:52

Erickson notes that Drake Maye has been the QB1 in back-to-back weeks, showing significant improvement after a slow start to the season; while he may not be 'all the way back,' he is performing well against weaker defenses.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout58:10

Drake Maye has surged to QB7 overall in fantasy scoring after two consecutive massive games, including a 39.46-point performance against the Raiders. He has excelled on deep balls (10+ air yards), completing 8 of 11 for 206 yards and three touchdowns in his latest outing, and is positioned for continued success with A.J. Brown expected to return soon.

Insight page
PositiveProjection100:14

The source views early-season turnover issues as an overreaction, noting that Maye maintained strong efficiency (8-9.5 yards per attempt) even during low-fantasy-production weeks. With Josh McDaniels improving play-calling through increased motion and play-action, Maye is projected as a comfortable top-10 quarterback for the remainder of the season.

Insight page

George Kittle

NegativeInjury28:42

Derek Brown notes that George Kittle is one of the few healthy bodies remaining in the 49ers' offense.

Insight page

Jake Ferguson

NegativeUsage5:14

Erickson mentions he failed to start Jake Ferguson in his fantasy league, opting for Dallas Goedert instead.

Insight page

Jalen Nailor

NegativeUsage17:29

Erickson expresses concern that the addition of Marvin Harrison Jr. will lead to fewer routes for Jalen Nailor, which he views as a negative development.

Insight page

Jayden Daniels

NegativeUsage38:11

Jayden Daniels and the Commanders displayed poor clock management and a lack of urgency during the final drive against the Giants, failing to properly utilize timeouts or stop the clock.

Insight page

Jaylen Warren

PositiveValue105:38

The source argues Jalen Warren is the most underrated running back in the NFL, citing elite metrics since 2022: 15th in explosive run rate, 11th in yards after contact per attempt, 6th in missed tackles forced per attempt, and 8th in yards per route run. Despite his size, he is viewed as a capable bell-cow back who is significantly more efficient than teammates like Rico Dowdle.

Insight page

Jordan Love

PositiveProjection22:00

Jordan Love had a career-best performance against the Bears, recording a 137.5 passer rating, a season-high 0.43 EPA per dropback, and his most completed air yards in a single game (252).

Insight page

Justin Jefferson

NegativeUsage32:04

Erickson notes that the Vikings have struggled to have their full complement of offensive players, including Justin Jefferson, on the field at the same time this season.

Insight page

Kayshon Boutte

NegativeUsage17:15

Erickson notes that Kayshon Boutte has been underwhelming in the Texans' offense, though it is unclear if that is due to his own performance or the offensive scheme.

Insight page

Kenneth Walker III

PositiveUsage111:01

The source expects the team to utilize Zach Charbonnet more frequently to ensure Kenneth Walker remains healthy and available for the entire season.

Insight page

Kenyon Sadiq

NegativeInjury25:48

Kenyon Sadiq suffered a concussion, but the team is not overly concerned about the injury.

Insight page

Kyler Murray

NegativeProjection50:40

The source expresses skepticism regarding Kyler Murray as a Super Bowl-caliber quarterback, noting he is still missing throws and struggling to drive the offense in high-leverage situations. While he has historically performed better in September and October, the source believes he will struggle against tougher upcoming opponents like the Lions and Bills.

Insight page

Marvin Harrison Jr.

NegativeProjection8:33

The source expresses shock at the trade compensation (a 2027 second-round pick) for Marvin Harrison Jr., noting he has underperformed relative to his draft capital and was misused in the Arizona offense.

Insight page
PositiveRole11:55

Derek Brown argues that Marvin Harrison Jr. was miscast in Arizona, never being a primary read and being forced into a role that didn't suit his talent; he suggests Harrison needs a 'Drake London diet' of slot/perimeter usage.

Insight page

Michael Penix Jr.

NegativeInjury25:53

Michael Penix Jr. left his game with a rib injury; the team is still gathering information, but his availability for upcoming games is in question.

Insight page

Mike Evans

PositiveProjection28:26

Derek Brown praises Mike Evans as a 'total warrior' and 'baller' who remains underappreciated despite his consistent performance.

Insight page
PositiveUsage44:43

Mike Evans delivered a masterclass performance against Seattle, leading the team with 10 targets, 7 catches, 113 yards, and a touchdown. He showed elite contested-catch ability, recording the highest catch rate over expected (31%) for any receiver with at least 10 targets in a game this season, all while playing through broken ribs.

Insight page

Nico Collins

PositiveUsage22:38

Erickson highlights Nico Collins as a key player who can create yards after the catch and serve as a red-zone threat for the Texans.

Insight page

Parker Washington

PositiveValue28:55

Parker Washington is performing as an elite alpha receiver, ranking 11th in target share and 5th in yards per route run among 66 qualifiers. The source projects he will command a contract in the $30M-$32M AAV range, potentially exceeding the value of Alec Pierce.

Insight page

Patrick Mahomes

NegativeValue5:18

Erickson notes he accidentally left Patrick Mahomes in his starting lineup during a bye week.

Insight page

Puka Nacua

NegativeUsage5:44

Erickson notes that he is starting Puka Nacua in his fantasy league for the current week.

Insight page

Rashee Rice

NegativeInjury111:34

The source notes that Rashee Rice's injury creates significant uncertainty regarding the Chiefs' wide receiver room and their overall passing effectiveness moving forward.

Insight page

T.J. Hockenson

NegativeInjury25:38

T.J. Hockenson left his game with a concussion, which is a significant loss for the Vikings' passing attack.

Insight page

Tony Pollard

PositiveValue29:05

Erickson suggests the Eagles might trade for Tony Pollard to address their running back injuries, given that Pollard is a free agent and the Titans are struggling.

Insight page

TreVeyon Henderson

NegativeInjury25:22

Treyveon Henderson is dealing with an ankle injury that is currently being evaluated.

Insight page

Tyler Huntley

PositiveValue5:28

Erickson picked up Tyler Huntley as a bye-week replacement for Patrick Mahomes, noting he had a solid fantasy outing saved by a late rushing touchdown.

Insight page

Will Shipley

NegativeInjury25:40

Will Shipley has a torn plantar fascia muscle in his foot and will miss time, adding to the Eagles' running back injury woes.

Insight page

Xavier Hutchinson

NegativeUsage22:28

Erickson suggests that the Texans' offense improves when Xavier Hutchinson runs fewer routes, implying that Marvin Harrison Jr. should take his place.

Insight page

Xavier Worthy

NegativeBust111:41

The source describes Xavier Worthy as a 'nothing burger' and a 'non-factor' in the Chiefs' offense, regardless of the role he is placed in.

0:20Hello everybody. Welcome into the tailgate. I'm Ryan Warmly joined on this Monday morning by Andrew Erickson and by Derek Brown.
0:27We are reacting to everything we saw in week five.
0:30A very fun week of football. A very long day of football.
0:33Starting off with the London game and a very exciting finish there.
0:37Finishing off with a very exciting finish in the Sunday night football game.
0:41Overtime for the third time in five weeks, I believe they were saying on the broadcast and remembering correctly, it's been a
0:47lot of primetime overtimes so far this season. So a very long day of football.
0:52Very exciting day of football. You know, D-Bro, there was a lot of big touchdowns early on in the early window slate.
0:59Just like a lot of action. There were injuries as there always were, but not as many as we've had the last couple of weeks.
1:06Not these huge big name injuries at the same level as the last couple of weeks.
1:11So just overall like a pretty positive fun day of football, I think.
1:15Pretty positive fun day of football. Unless you happen to be a Washington Commanders fan.
1:20I'd say you were, you were having a good Sunday outside of the Washington Commanders.
1:24Can we quickly talk about that boys? What the heck?
1:27Well, we are going to get to it later in the show.
1:31We can quickly say WTF and you know what is going on here.
1:35It was remarkable. We will, we'll dive into it in a little more detail later in the show.
1:40But yeah, I mean, I think we're off the bat.
1:43That was like the biggest thing that people were talking about.
1:46I mean, it was blowing my mind D-Bro, how often red zone kept cutting back to that game after it was over and replaying that highlight.
1:54I was like, you're just like twisting the knife for Commanders fans.
1:58Well, I mean, deservedly so. I mean, honestly, just twisting the knife on Dan Quinn.
2:02But we'll, we'll get to it later. We'll get to it later.
2:06Yeah. Very hilarious finish there. Erickson, how are you feeling after week five?
2:10Feeling good. Feeling more rested than I was. Very busy weekend for me.
2:14A lot of driving, weddings all over the place.
2:17But it was nice to come home on Sunday, sit on the couch and just watch football.
2:22And really, that's, that's really the only thing I wanted to be doing.
2:26So I had a lot of fun watching the games.
2:29My Patriots coming out, laying the hammer on the Las Vegas Raiders.
2:32Another five touchdowns for Drake May, who's now been QB one and back to back weeks after being nowhere near that to
2:39start the first three weeks of the season. So maybe Drake May is not all the way back, but when he plays
2:46bad defenses or less than defenses, he plays pretty well.
2:49Yeah. Yeah. Um, I always forget Erickson at the top of the show in our news and notes sections to pitch it
2:55to you for our, uh, update on the tailgate fantasy league we have.
2:59So I'm going to do that now before I forget.
3:02Cause I always forget. Uh, how are we looking here in week five in the tailgate league?
3:08In week five, we made some mistakes. Uh, me made some mistakes.
3:11We, we, yeah. In terms of setting our lineup on time.
3:14Who is this? I forgot to submit Dallas Goddard in for Jake Ferguson.
3:18So we lost some points there. I also forgot to take Patrick Mahomes out of the starting QB one slot.
3:24Who's on a bye week, but I at least had the forward thinking to quickly pivot, pick up Tyler Huntley, end up
3:31having a pretty solid fantasy out and he got that rushing touchdown at the end, which really kind of saved his bacon.
3:38So we're actually up by four points heading into Monday Night Football.
3:41Our opponent has DJ Moore and Devonta Adams, but we got Puka Nakua.
3:45So there's a chance. So we'll see if we're just trying to avoid that punishment that we still haven't agreed to exactly
3:52what it will be, but we will do something.
3:55The three of us, if we, uh, if we fail to make the playoffs in this league against our beloved listeners, uh,
4:01let's get into the actual news and notes here.
4:04We normally really just treat this as an injury roundup.
4:07We are going to do that. But first I, we need to talk about the trade that went down this weekend.
4:13First of all, just ridiculous reporting on Sunday. Come on.
4:16Excuse me. Saturday morning. Max milking of headlines and clicks and everything.
4:20Just we're not going to tell anybody where he's going, but he's going to be a trade.
4:25It could possibly happen. All you know is it could be to one of 31 NFL teams.
4:30I was live on our Saturday morning YouTube stream with Tom Strachan previewing the week and answering start sick questions.
4:36Like four minutes into that stream is when this trade broke.
4:40You know, the news broke. Cause I put in air quotes cause it kind of hard.
4:45It wasn't news. Really? Um, yeah. And so we spent the entire stream being like, are there updates?
4:50What's going on? And we kept getting people who would join the stream late and be like, why aren't you guys talking about Marvin Harrison jr?
4:58And it's like, A, we already did B. What are we supposed to talk about?
5:02We don't know where he's going yet. And then of course it started coming out like, well, the Texans are really strong contender wink, wink.
5:10Okay. So he's like going to the Texans. It's fine.
5:13At any rate, what we have here now is that Marvin Harrison Jr has been traded to the Texans.
5:19The main part of the compensation is for a 2027 second round pick.
5:23There's other smaller picks in there, but that's the main part.
5:26I couldn't believe he got that much. I've said on other shows on the dynasty show Fitz was like, well, Hey, do
5:33you really, if you really believe in Marvin Harrison Jr that much, would you want the Ravens to trade from him?
5:39And I go, yeah, like a fourth round pick.
5:42I would, I would take that swing a second.
5:44No way. Did I want my team to make that trade?
5:48I was shocked that I'm not surprised that they were holding out to try and get it.
5:53I'm shocked that they actually got that. Um, the Texans are one in four, obviously coming off of a win.
5:59They certainly need the help at pass catcher with, you know, Higgins is injury and just, you know, the injury risk with
6:06Nico Collins, but I don't know how much help they're getting from a guy that has really underperformed relative to his draft capital.
6:13And how you just give up a sack or a pick in a stacked draft and you don't have a very good record right now.
6:20So D bro, I was really shocked by the compensation here.
6:23I was shocked by the compensation too. There's so much that we could chew on with this trade.
6:29Uh, one, I, I called it after the, I mean, dude, for that type of insider reporting, I could be an NFL insider.
6:36This guy is getting traded and he's going to go to one of 31 other teams.
6:41Stay tuned for details. Like it's so stupid, but outside of that, I, I kind of call this whenever I was like,
6:47okay, so he's going to go to Houston. And then they were like dragging their feed.
6:52And I was like, so Houston's basically saying if we win this week and there's some mathematical possibility of making the playoffs,
6:59we could talk ourselves into, then we'll make the trade.
7:02If we're Owen five and we lose to the freaking Titans, then no, we're not giving up a future second.
7:08So that's the way that I like, I contextualize all of it.
7:12But as far as the second, that's absolute and total insanity.
7:15Like I, and, and I think that Marvin Harrison Jr is not nearly as bad as anything that he has put on film this year.
7:22I think everything he has put on film this year has been, he is not part of the offense.
7:28He has never been part of the offense. He's not a first second or even a third read.
7:34He has been the lone ISO guy or the guy in the concept of every passing play that they have of drawing defense deep, taking away coverage.
7:42And he's never the first or second or third read.
7:45So basically Marvin Harrison jr has been given a route tree by the Arizona Cardinals for this season of you ain't got to run it all the way.
7:53You don't have to get open because we're not throwing you the ball anyway.
7:58So I don't all of that. And people got their clips and takes and all that kind of stuff that that's all BS.
8:04As far as the talent of Marvin Harrison jr.
8:07I think he has been absolutely miscast misused and just thrown into whether it's injuries or just a horrible role because we
8:14talked about this for multiple seasons into being a player that he is not.
8:18He deserves and he needs the Drake London diet.
8:21He should be playing 50 50 or 60 40 perimeter and slot.
8:24You should be using them on a ton of end breakers.
8:28He should be your chain moving guy. Now to say all of that with this trade, do I have any possible possible
8:34faith that Nick Caley will deploy Marvin Harrison jr.
8:37And the way that he should be deployed. Hell no.
8:40Hell no. No way. No shape, form or fashion.
8:43But do I have hope for the 2027 version of Marvin Harrison jr.
8:47That where maybe Nick Caley gets fired and good Lord CJ Stroud will have Jaden Higgins, Marvin Harrison jr.
8:53And Nico Collins to throw to. Okay. I'm a little bit excited.
8:56Well, you mentioned Stroud there at the end. D bro, obviously getting paired up with his college receiver.
9:02Now, you know, Marvin Harrison jr. And shout out overlapped at Ohio state.
9:06Uh, where Marvin Harrison jr. Was played the best football of his life, you know, in terms of his production and looked
9:12like this elite, you know, maybe not generational, but an elite level wide receiver prospect coming out of the draft when he went fourth overall.
9:20So Erickson, do you have any interest in Harrison in fantasy leagues?
9:23Just given the connection with CJ Stroud. I mean, we often see in season receiver trades often don't pan out all that well.
9:30You think about like the Amari Coopers of the world.
9:33Like, even if you say, Oh, talent seems like a fit schematically.
9:37It's just hard to do that in season, but they do have the added bonus of this history together as a QB and wide receiver pairing.
9:45Yeah. And I think that's really the one way to spin this.
9:49The most positive way for Marvin Harrison jr. Is now he has a quarterback that I think has the most buy-in with
9:55him because from day one, it was never there with Kyler Murray.
9:59Kyler Murray at the first game with Marvin Harrison, you said, it's not my job to get him the ball.
10:05That's the first thing. And then Jacoby Brissett obviously had a much better built in rapport with training pride and Michael Wilson, whereas Marvin Harrison Jr.
10:13has not had that at the NFL level. He has not had the complete buying and trust from his quarterback until now with CJ Stroud.
10:20And I'm assuming that CJ Stroud co-signed on this type of deal where we got to get more weapons.
10:26The defense is going to be fine. We don't need more draft compensation for weapon for defensive guys.
10:31We need offensive pieces here because they traded for Kayshawn Booty.
10:35He's been underwhelming in the Texans offense. Is that because of him or because of the offensive Nick Caley remains to be seen.
10:42I know what D Rose answer is. One thing I will point out though, is I don't understand why this team just doesn't use Jalen.
10:49No more. Dude, they had another game. They had another monster game.
10:53And I'm like, dude, like I could totally see him having like a Parker Washington type of career arc where it's like, it's just so underrated.
11:01And he's so talented and they just don't ever use him as much as they should.
11:06And now them adding another piece just said just to me.
11:09Yeah, this means if this means less routes for Jalen Noel, then it's bad in my opinion.
11:14So, well, I want to, I wish he was traded to the Arizona Cardinals.
11:18I almost threw that out there. And I was like, dude, I wish he was traded to Arizona because Houston doesn't deserve him.
11:25They don't. They don't. I want to loop in, get us going on the injury roundup section because one of the injuries was David Montgomery.
11:33So do you guys think with this trick? Because now, I mean, still no Jaden Higgins obviously this year, but now it's
11:40Nico Collins, Jalen Noel and Marvin Harrison Jr. And the running game takes a hit like what he marks.
11:45Okay, but he wasn't that good last year. So do you think that this is just going to become a very pass heavy offense, D bro?
11:53I mean, it has been a pass heavy offense.
11:56But even more so without David Montgomery and then adding Harris.
11:59I mean, sure, because they can't run the ball.
12:02Like people don't like people like lay this at the field.
12:05They're going to be defeated David Montgomery. Dude, this is their offensive line.
12:09Their offensive line cannot open up holes. And don't show me Woody Marks getting 60 rushing yards as hope.
12:15Like, come on, dude. Like it's against the Titans, first of all.
12:19And second of all, both of these running backs have had no room to run.
12:23And again, going back to the Nick Caley of it all.
12:26You put David Montgomery, you trade for David Montgomery.
12:29And you categorically don't understand the type of runner that you have.
12:33You put him in a committee situation for a volume back.
12:36They get in the game flow and you, you nerve him into being a committee back.
12:41Woody Marks, because that's going to solve anything. It doesn't.
12:44And yes, could they lean even more pass heavy?
12:47Yeah, but sure. They absolutely could work because they can't run the ball.
12:51Is this good news for CJ Stroud Erickson in terms of, I mean, I think Stroud's looked pretty good this season.
12:57And like, he's looked good enough that if you told me he looked to this good, just went with no other information before the year.
13:04I would have assumed the Texans were like five and no, because I would have thought the defense was going to be
13:11so good that if he was this good, that they'd be a juggernaut.
13:15But is this good news for him? Like in terms of fantasy managers, right?
13:19Like just going to pass so much and have more of these weapons.
13:23Is this good news for the offense in general to say like, hey, David Montgomery, which by the way, groin injury said he might miss some time.
13:31We'll still kind of see what the actual timeline looks like later today, where it sort of forces their hands to not run the ball so much.
13:40Is this better for the Texans just in terms of as an NFL team?
13:44I think so. I don't think you get worse by acquiring Marvin Harrison Jr.
13:48The less routes that Xavier Hutchinson runs on your offense, the better.
13:52So as long as Marvin Harrison Jr. is replacing him and his role in this offense, they keep Noel on the field.
13:58They have a healthy Nico Collins who can create yards after the catch.
14:02And to Debrow's point, right, just put Harrison Jr.
14:05In a position to move the chains and let Nico be the number one guy that can create yards after the catch.
14:12Obviously, also a big threat in the red zone.
14:14Both these guys can deliver in the red zone.
14:17Even Marvin Harrison Jr. Was underwhelming his first two years in Arizona.
14:21That was one big thing that he did a lot was win downfield with air yards and also see a lot of red zone opportunities.
14:28So I think this is good for CJ Stroud and his touchdown opportunity.
14:32And you're going to see a lot of passing in this next game against the Jags.
14:37We know the Jags are a pass funnel defense.
14:40You don't run on them. The Texans can't run the football.
14:43They just got a new wide receiver. So, yeah, you're going to see them throwing the ball a lot in London.
14:49And we're going to get to see Marvin Harrison Jr., I think, in action pretty quickly.
14:54I can't wait to see Jared Wayne and Xavier Hutchinson run more routes to Marvin Harrison Jr.
14:59after giving up a second for him over the next few weeks.
15:03I just can't wait to see it. I can't wait to see it because, you know, Nick Caley and wide receiver groupings, as it were.
15:11Other injuries this week, Debo Samuel, hamstring, Casey Concepcion obviously took that really bad hit.
15:15Just throwing it out there. That was really tough to watch.
15:18He had the concussion. Obviously, he was ruled out pretty quickly.
15:22Travion Henderson had an ankle injury that they're still looking at.
15:25Will Campbell also for the Patriots knee sprain that Brable this morning was saying, you know, they're getting more information on.
15:31Obviously, that would be a really big hit to a Patriots offense that was looking like it was bouncing back.
15:38TJ Hawkinson left his game with a concussion. Will Shipley has a torn plantar fascia muscle in his foot.
15:43He's going to miss some time. So another running back down for the Eagles.
15:48Kenyon Sadiq had a concussion. Aaron Glenn was saying that he wasn't really that concerned about that one.
15:53And then Michael Penix on Sunday Night Football left the game obviously late with the rib injury.
15:58They're still gathering information on that. The only quarterback on this list, so probably the most impactful, especially given just the difference in production.
16:05For that offense before, you know, compared when he was on the field and not.
16:10Couldn't be more night and day. But yeah, where do you want to go with this injury roundup, Debro?
16:16Is anybody that you want to particularly highlight? I think you're spot on with the Michael Penix call here.
16:21Can he play? Will he play with the ribs?
16:24We have to be seen. I mean, it's going to be a pain tolerance and mobility type of thing.
16:30Like, I don't think that it was, it's his effective side.
16:33I just watched the game last night. And again, I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express.
16:38But like, I don't think it's his throwing arm side.
16:41It looks like it was the right side of his ribs.
16:45Like where he kept motioning towards on the sideline when they panned to him.
16:49Michael Penix coming back to earth in a competitive game too was very stark to see for all the Penix believers.
16:55But dude, if this is too under center for the next few weeks, good luck Falcons.
17:00That's all I can say. But like, the only other thing I'll throw out here too is Debo Samuel, hamstring injury.
17:06I mean, the 49ers are down to Mike Evans who is a total freaking warrior.
17:11We talked about this on the key questions episode.
17:14I said he was the X factor going against the Seattle Seahawks.
17:17And he absolutely was total baller. We still do not appreciate Mike Evans nearly enough.
17:22But the 49ers, I mean, do losing Debo outside of Mike Evans and George Kittle and CMC like not a whole lot of healthy bodies in that offense.
17:30So they got to, you know, wrap those guys in bubble wrap.
17:34Erickson, what do you want to highlight from the injury roundup?
17:37Just two things here. So we'll ship me with the foot injury adding to the CBS list of injuries that the Eagles are dealing with now.
17:45Do they make a trade for Tony Pollard? Should be like, hey, like the Titans are all in five.
17:51He's going to be a free agent and we just need a running back that is serviceable.
17:56Like I could see that potentially. I know Pollard's been floated out.
18:00He was one of the guys that Schefter rumored about last week, along with Marvin Harrison Jr.
18:05Harrison Jr. just got traded. I don't think it's long until we have to see Tony Pollard get moved.
18:11I wonder if it's more. I don't think it's the fact that the division is so gettable makes it like the Eagles shouldn't just sell off.
18:18But I wonder if we're more likely to see them trade away players as opposed to trade.
18:24Yeah, that's where I'm at point this season. I don't know.
18:27Well, I just wanted to mention that as maybe an option that they do again, just dealing with so many running back injuries.
18:34And then TJ Hawkinson getting the concussion being knocked out early in that game.
18:38And the fact that the Vikings didn't really change up their game plan because they were featuring the Bartholomew guy, the other tight end on their team.
18:46And he was just like absolutely peppered with targets.
18:49I think it's so funny when teams do that.
18:52They're like, right, we built the whole game plan around Hawkinson.
18:55He goes out. Who's the next tight end? And we're just going to use that guy in the exact same role again.
19:02I had no idea who this guy was. I'm like, who's making all these plays?
19:06Then Kyler Murray actually missed him. Like he was open deep and they would have had a monster chunk gain against New
19:13Orleans Saints defense that apparently cannot stop tight ends.
19:16Another one of these tight end funnel defenses. That was something that I just brought to my mind as he comes up on the injury list here.
19:24Obviously, it sucks, too, because with Kyler. Have we seen him play with Jefferson, Aston and Hawkinson at the same time at all this year?
19:31I feel like someone's always been out or missing time.
19:34So that's for credit. Again, we'll talk about the Vikings.
19:37But I mean, the fact that they are undefeated and they actually have not actually had their staple of offensive players at
19:44any point in any game is is just a credit to like the defense is so good with Florida.
19:50Oh, my God. I mean, Chuck Chuck had no shot in that game.
19:54Yeah, like it's tough. No shot. All right. Before we get to some more reactions, if you want a chance to win

20:43All right, guys, we're streamlining the show a bit this week.
20:46Rather than try to go in a bunch of different categories, we are just each coming to the show with three talking
20:53points that we want to discuss with each other.
20:55These can be questions we want to ask. These can be odds you want to examine.
21:00These can be just headlines, reactions from the week, whatever we want to do.
21:04We each have three talking point discussions. That will be the show this week.
21:09Erickson, kick us off with your first reaction. So the Bears defense, eh?
21:13It's not an elite unit by any way, shape or form.
21:16They were the scheduled merchants over the last couple of weeks after looking like they regained form after giving up a ton of points to the Panthers.
21:24They had a lot of easy matchups. The weather worked in their favor.
21:28So I was like, okay, like maybe this Bears defense isn't so bad.
21:32I know, Worm, I think you brought it up last week, but it was not one of these like defiant statements.
21:38I brought it up as a question. You brought it up as a question.
21:43So the Bears defense maybe sort of could be decent.
21:46And then we got the answer. The answer's no.
21:48They're not good. I pushed back very lightly last week whenever we had this conversation.
21:53I was like, no, no, no, no. Yeah, no, they are.
21:56They are not good, especially when you give up basically a career day for Jordan Love.
22:01137.5 pass rating was the highest ever in a game that Jordan Love started.
22:050.43 EPR per drop back set a new season high.
22:08Clock 10 is one of his 10 best single game marks in Jordan Love's Green Bay Packers career.
22:14So the Bears, despite being on the road as favorites in this matchup, get absolutely destroyed and boat raced.
22:19Jordan Love could do basically anything downfield. Matthew Golden and Christian Watson were just having absolute field days against this Bears defense that also lost three more guys.
22:28They are a Dingball went down. Tyrick Stevenson went down.
22:31TJ Edwards went down three starters across every level of the defense all got hurt for the Green Bay Packer for the Chicago Bears.
22:38Green Bay outgains Chicago 428 to 246 7.3 yards per play compared to 3.6.
22:42They won 31 to 7 without a single turnover.
22:45And then Chicago, we know, turned the ball over five times, including two Taysen Bajin interceptions.
22:50Case Keenum picked. A Dunze fumble and Keenum had a strip sack fumble.
22:54So yeah, the Bears defense is still one that is not good.
22:58And I don't think they're going to improve. It wasn't just that Love had a great day.
23:03It was how he did it. Most completed air yards he's ever had in a game in his career.
23:08252 completed area. Christian Watson good. Who knew? Hucking that thing down the field.
23:13Yeah. Christian Watson is amazing. Love was very good in this game, too.
23:17And yeah, the Packers just like never let up.
23:19They kept throwing deep and it kept. Floor was like, why?
23:23Yeah. Yeah. But can I give you some numbers to contextualize how bad the Bears defense is?
23:28Second highest rushing success rate. Fifth highest pass explosive pass rate allowed.
23:31And they are also 14th in explosive run rate allowed.
23:34They are bad, bad, bad with a capital B.
23:37So in fantasy, do you guys see this as a defense to aggressively target the way we expected at the beginning of the season?
23:44Or do you see it more as just like they're bad, but in the way that a lot of teams are bad
23:51and not like outlier bad where holy cow start everybody.
23:54Oh, no, we are starting with, you know, whatever running backs.
23:57You got a mid running back that we're like, oh, do I flex you if you get a touchdown?
24:03Oh, no, you're you're gracing the line up this week, baby.
24:07If they're facing an offense that is just anywhere competent, then yes, it's like fire up everybody.
24:12The only time you're like pressing pause. Oh, speaking of competence next week.
24:16How much faith do you have in Tua versus the Chicago Bears?
24:19That would be where you're like, I mean, as long as he gets 15 targets, Drake London might be screwed, though.
24:26Yeah, no, but seriously, you guys this. If we don't end up believing in the Vikings to win this division right now,
24:32they're five and oh every other team in this division is three and two.
24:36If we rule out the Vikings because you say, OK, I don't believe the offense, whatever, which I'm not saying you guys
24:43feel but I'm just saying for the sake of argument.
24:46Who wins this division if not Minnesota because these teams are all three and two, but with all pretty big flaws.
24:52Lions got reenforcement defense is worse than others. They're getting guys back.
24:56They have a legendary offense. They can make it.
24:59No, the Lions are winning this division. No, no, I don't know that.
25:03I agree that division or to me, that defense has been so horrific that like I just even when guys come back,
25:09I don't I don't think we should just automatically assume that they're going to be good.
25:14This has been also they played the Packers without an offensive line.
25:18They played the Bears, which Caleb Williams got hurt.
25:21They played the Buccaneers and Baker sucking. They played Malik Wilson.
25:24They played Tyler Shuck. Like who have they played to look like this legendary level defense?
25:29Well, but I'm saying like they've they've looked legendarily bad.
25:32Are you talking about the Vikings? So the yeah, no, I'm talking about the Vikings defense.
25:37Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. I don't agree with you on the Vikings.
25:41Like I if we're going to like this is to me is like who are you going to take as far as
25:48like the best best strengths of the teams have the Vikings defense or the the Rams offense?
25:53I'm taking the Lions offense. I think that's fair.
25:56I don't disagree with that. I just think in terms of the entire division as a whole, like I still think I
26:02would prefer to bet on the Bears or maybe even the Pack Pack Pack.
26:07Probably not the Packers, but I think I prefer to bet on the Bears with Caleb coming back over the Lions to
26:13win this division because I the lines defense is so it has made every player that's played at this season look amazing.
26:20But we just tore down the Bears defense. You're willing to back the Bears offense and what that looks like with a
26:27bad defense behind it over backing a legendary Lions offense with a bad defense.
26:31I mean the Bears offense started start off looking like it might have a legendary season and they've done what if he comes.
26:38What could they haven't had Caleb? They've been on the backup quarterbacks.
26:41I think what I was a savior. He was amazing.
26:44I wasn't saying that I think we can't hear and say we can't sit here and say that.
26:50Oh, the Lions defense can be OK because they have guys coming back, but then not give that same credit to the
26:56Bears offense when Kate with Caleb come back when they we have actually seen the Bears offense look incredible this season with Caleb on the field.
27:04We haven't seen that with the line. I'm not saying that what I'm saying is if you give me both of these
27:11offenses when they're humming at their best, I'm taking the Lions over the Bears.
27:15I think it's close though all four of these are humming at their best.
27:19Yes, all four of these teams are going to get better because the lines are going to defensive guys back.
27:25The Bears are going to get Caleb back. The Vikings are going to eventually have Addison and Hawkinson and Jefferson on the
27:32field at the same time, and then the Packers are going to get Mike Parsons back.
27:37So there are arguments to be made that none of these teams have even hit their final form and just a matter
27:44of OK, well, what's your record at that point?
27:46Like is it a little is it too little too late?
27:50Essentially, at least with the Vikings perspective, they have built that margin of error because they have won all their games versus
27:56some of these other teams where if you keep losing games, it doesn't matter when these guys come back because it's too little too late.
28:04Yeah, fair. I will say I think Green Bay is ultimately going to be the worst team in this division, even though I don't think they're terrible.
28:12I just think like it's a strong division. They're plus 800 Bears and this is consensus odds at bettingpros.com Bears plus 355
28:19Lions are plus 260 and the Vikings are plus 107.
28:22The gap with the Packers being as far away as they are makes them an intriguing bet in my opinion, even though
28:28I don't think they're going to win the division.
28:31But I think that gap in odds is actually too big because I agree.
28:35They are going to get Mike Parsons back eventually.
28:38Like I think Derek's point every team in this division will get better throughout the course of the year.
28:44Oh, a fun like heated start to the show.
28:47This is this is great boys. I'm loving it.
28:49Debra, let's go to your first reaction here. Where does Parker Washington's contract extension come in at because after the game that
28:56he just had and the numbers and I'm going to give some context before we kind of get into diving through numbers here.
29:03Parker Washington after week five among 66 qualifying wide receivers for everybody out in the comments when I said, OK, this is
29:10what I think he's probably going to get in terms of AAV amongst wide receivers.
29:14I said there's no way in hell. He doesn't deserve that.
29:17OK, fine. Among 66 qualifying wide receivers right now.
29:20Parker Washington 11th and target share. He is the elite alpha for Jacksonville fifth in yards per route run behind CD lamb 12th in EPA per target.
29:28So whatever you look at, he is an alpha level wide receiver in the NFL and just for some context before we
29:35start kind of getting into numbers here. The 15th ranked wide receiver right now in AAV is Alec Pierce at twenty eight point five million to me.
29:43That's the starting point. I think considering all of this.
29:46I'll go ahead and leave this. I think Parker Washington is going to get in the neighborhood of twenty nine to thirty million per year.
29:54Now, everybody said that's asinine and insane. Guys, is that so insane right now?
29:58So that's interesting. I while you were talking, I pulled up the list of, you know, wide receiver contract rankings in terms
30:05of average annual value like you were referencing here.
30:07And I was actually going to aim a little higher when I said I get higher or lower than this.
30:13So I maybe I am just as bullish as you are, D.
30:17Roe, but I was thinking the number would start with a three, not a two.
30:22I agree with you. I think it's 30 million.
30:24Probably. I think you're looking at he's not not only has he been awesome.
30:28It's like he's old, right? Yeah. Twenty four years.
30:31Like like he will you would think would be good for a long time is clearly a great fit with Trevor Lawrence
30:38is clearly just a really good player who's ascending.
30:41And like like I wasn't going to you know, when I was looking here, I was OK, like he's not going to
30:47get as much as a flowers did. Like surprise you, thirty five million dollar your contract.
30:52I don't think he's getting to that. No, but then you start to you start to get lower than that.
30:58And it's like, man, like why shouldn't he be getting a bigger contract than some of these other guys?
31:04Like I think in that 30 to 32 million is where I would be.
31:08I'll put it like this. That's at least where I'd be comfortable paying if I was Jackson.
31:13AJ Brown, 32 million. Terry McLaurin, 32 million per year.
31:16D.K. Metcalf, 33 million dollars per year. I mean, like superstar receivers just get paid.
31:21And a guy like Zay has looked like made that worth it, even though we all thought it was an overpay in the offseason.
31:28I didn't think it was an overpay. A lot of people did.
31:32A lot of people did. It was a big talking point.
31:35And if Parker Washington gets 32, I bet you hear similar talking points and I bet he makes them look just as foolish.
31:42So to me, like Alec Pierce, that's aiming too low.
31:45I think Parker Washington is getting 30 million a year.
31:48Erickson, what do you think? I agree. I think that he's worth it.
31:52And I think that Jaguars will get a little bit of a quote unquote discount compared to those other numbers you just
31:59mentioned, just because Parker Washington wasn't like a first round pick, because for some reason, some players can't knock the draft capital
32:05and the fact that he was a day three pick.
32:08That's always going to be held against him in some way, shape or form.
32:13But it's still going to be you've got to pay your best receivers, especially when it's so obvious how well he fits with their quarterback and Trevor Lawrence.
32:21Right. If their quarterback long term is Trevor Lawrence, then you've got to lock up his number one guy who is Parker Washington.
32:28They're clearly not going to extend Brian Thomas Jr.
32:31to anything. They already paid Jacoby Myers, but he's more of that veteran type of presence guy, more of a depth get
32:37number two, number three receiver that can kind of play all over the formation.
32:42Whereas Washington, he's your game breaker. He's your stud.
32:44You saw it against the Eagles. And when he did that one handed catch, my wife was watching that game or the highlight.
32:51And she's like, that looks like the Odell Beckham Jr.
32:54catch. Like, yeah, because this guy's that good. Well, yes or no.
32:58Will it be a top 10 wide receiver contract in average annual annual value when it is signed?
33:03Yes. That means it has to be over 32 million.
33:06And I think it should be because not only do you take what he's done on the field, like you again, you
33:13add the age component, you add also you're you're adding the final.
33:17This is like the final infinity stone to the gauntlet for Jacksonville.
33:20Like they've already extent they have Jacoby Myers locked up.
33:23They extended Brenton strange. So Parker Washington, you lock him up.
33:27He's your wide receiver one. You trade Brian Thomas Jr.
33:30You go find somebody else that fits whatever you want out of that role to take the top off of a defense
33:36in the NFL draft or what have you. And you just roll on as an offense.
33:41And they still have Basial Tootin on a rookie contract like they're they're they're set, man.
33:46So go pay the guy. If anything, James Gladstone, bro, you should have gotten this done before week one.
33:52You knew what was about to happen. Parker Washington better himself.
33:55Now cha-ching. Pay that man. It's it really is the reverse.
33:58It's not to just keep referencing the Raven, but it's the reverse of the Zay Flowers where they did pay early and
34:05we're like, hey, let's get this done because we know what he can be in this offense and are expecting a breakout.
34:12And now I'm not saying it looks like a steal, but it looks like a totally worthwhile contract in the eyes of everybody.
34:19And and you miss that opportunity with Parker Washington.
34:21If you're if you're Gladstone, you could have done the same thing here.
34:25Yeah, this this is good one to you, bro.
34:28My first reaction here. NFC least, which is not an original joke.
34:32Look, this might be the worst week ever for a single division, excluding weeks where a bunch of guys got hurt, like taking a setting aside injury.
34:40This is one of the worst performing weeks for an entire division I can ever remember.
34:45Two teams played each other in this division, and yet the division went winless in this week.
34:50Obviously, the tie in Commanders Giants was hilarious and a complete botched job by both sides.
34:55Just an absolute mismanagement of the clock and everything.
34:57We can talk about that in a little bit more detail here in a second.
35:02But also the Cowboys lost as the biggest favorites of the week at home in prime time to a rookie free agent quarterback backup play for the Bucs.
35:10And also the Eagles somehow lost a game in which they took the lead with eight seconds left.
35:16They lost in regulation. They did the anti-Cowboys in Rio against the Ravens where they kicked the touchback and gave the Ravens time.
35:23No time off the clock. They did the reverse where they kicked it and said, oh, we'll make you return it.
35:29And then they gave up a big return and lost the gate to the Jags.
35:34I mean, this was just a remarkable comedy of errors for the entire division this week.
35:38And I'm not even sure. I mean, the place to probably start Erickson is that Commanders Giants game.
35:44But I think you could easily start with the Eagles performance too and how they finished that game as one of the most laughable performances this week.
35:52Just an all-time bad week for a single division.
35:55I mean, and it was in the primetime slots, it seemed like.
35:58Because it was Thursday night that we saw the Cowboys just lay a turd against the Buccaneers.
36:04And then in the London game, everybody's watching early in the morning.
36:07Oh, it looks like the Eagles are going to get a win.
36:11Nope. Just kidding. And then as we're transitioning from the early slate to the late slate, there's one game on still.
36:17Oh, Commanders Giants in overtime. Like, what's happening here?
36:20As the other games are kind of getting kicked off and started.
36:24And the reason I didn't get to watch the beginning of the Seahawks in 49ers is because I had to watch a tie.
36:30That's why I didn't get to watch the beginning of that game.
36:34Because I was watching a tie. Because I let these two teams just fumble over each other.
36:39Again, the Giants should have won because Cam Scadaboo.
36:42But he fumbles the ball. The Commanders get the ball back.
36:45And then they're driving. And they're going to win.
36:48They're going to kick the field goal. And then they just botched the timing of it.
36:53What? Rashad White gets down like 50 seconds left.
36:56Something like absolutely ridiculous of how much time they had to actually use.
37:00For bad teams. And this is what the result is.
37:03I mean, you just lost a division game. Or didn't win a division game because of just poor mishandling of the clock.
37:09And, I mean, it's always so weird watching coaches and players like shake hands and do the press conference after a tie.
37:16Because everyone's just like, I don't know how I'm supposed to feel.
37:19Like, I mean. Nobody's happy. I think they just treat it more like we just both lost.
37:25Like, because we're pissed. Because we didn't win. So, yeah.
37:28I could not agree more. Definitely the worst week.
37:30It feels closer to a loss than to a win.
37:33You're not happy. And now it comes with the silver lining where I think Cam Scadaboo on the sideline was like, we'll take the tie.
37:41Right? Because he obviously put the ball on the ground.
37:44So he was like, we're going to lose because of me.
37:47Well, we only tied because of me. Because the Commanders were dumb and didn't figure out their own stuff.
37:53So, yeah. This is a really good pull by you, Warren.
37:56I mean, not only like just the bad play call.
37:59Like, why even run a play? Why not just spike it or throw it out of bounds or whatever?
38:05But like, even after the tackle on that last play, D-Bro, J Daniels is just laying there for a few seconds.
38:11There's zero urgency by anybody on the team. I'm like, did they think they had a timeout?
38:17Did they think they needed to burn clock so they wouldn't give the ball back to the other team?
38:22Like, did they not know the overtime rules? It is astonishing.
38:26And like, Dan Quinn, this is his job. He's like supposed to be the culture guy who can do the game management stuff.
38:33And it's like, holy cow. CEO head coach, right?
38:35Like the CEO head coaches are not doing well.
38:38I know his background is on defense, but he's a CEO head coach.
38:42So John Harbaugh has always been a CEO head coach.
38:45Jim Harbaugh, CEO head coach, not doing great. John's doing okay.
38:48It wasn't his fault. It's got to move, but it on the turf.
38:52Okay. John's doing a pretty good job so far.
38:55But to all of this, Dan Quinn and Nick Sirianni should be fired this week.
39:00Unequivocally should not have a job. They call it what it is.
39:03The Eagles vibes, the locker room, everything like that.
39:06Don't care. Bye-bye Dan Quinn. Bye-bye. The Washington stuff.
39:09You want to know why people like you want to talk about scenarios where people say the NFL is rigged.
39:15There's a script and also the kind of crap look point to the commander's game.
39:19Like nothing makes any sense of any semblance of what the heck were you thinking?
39:24None of it. Because everybody theorizing, oh, well, they thought they still had a timeout.
39:28Okay, fine. Let's play that out. This team thought they had another timeout because in regulation, you got three versus overtime, even
39:35though at overtime at the beginning of it, the referee clearly explains all the rules.
39:39And second of all, the reason that I can throw the most cold water is this team did not think they had
39:46a timeout because simply put, when Jane Daniels got up off the turf, did you see Jane Daniels or Dan Quinn doing this?
39:53No. So they didn't think they had a timeout.
39:56There's no way possible that they had a timeout because nobody is motioning like they thought they had that timeout.
40:02So I don't understand what the hell they were doing because they're literally taking all the time.
40:07You could have just rolled the field goal unit out there for the final play, let the clock go all the way
40:14down to freaking zero, or Jane Daniels throws the ball out of bounds and stops the clock.
40:19Any way, shape, form, or fashion of any of those things happening.
40:22And yet none of that happens. And we're left with the ending of a game that nobody can properly describe as to what happened.
40:30What were you thinking? What was your thought process?
40:32And how did this come to be? Like nothing makes sense, guys.
40:36Nothing. And yet at least those two teams got a tie.
40:39The Cowboys lost as the biggest favorites of the week, and the Eagles lost the game.
40:44They led with eight seconds left, and they lost in regulation.
40:48So like that was – it was hilarious and bad, but at least those teams didn't lose.
40:53Do you guys agree with me that Dan Quinn – Giants covered.
40:56Do you guys agree with me that Dan Quinn and Nick Sirianni should be fired or not?
41:01Like thoughts on that because I am very firm that both of them should be gone.
41:06Easy yes on Quinn. Harder yes on Sirianni. But I – like Sirianni to me feels like somebody you fire in the offseason.
41:13Why? But he always does this. This is nothing new.
41:16Two weeks. Like I feel like they always are in situations where they string together a couple really bad losses and they're
41:23like firing Nick Sirianni, and then they always kind of pull themselves out of it.
41:27Because guys, I mean one of these teams is going to win the division.
41:32Somebody has to mathematically. Yeah. And like if you think that the Giants fall off with the backup quarterback eventually, then it's
41:38going to be one of the Eagles, Cowboys, or commanders.
41:41And so like two of those teams that you're talking about firing their coaches might be division winners this year.
41:47I think the Cowboys win the division for simply put.
41:50The same reasons what we just talked about the entire NFC North.
41:54The Cowboys offense is still a really good unit.
41:57And to all of the problems with the Dallas defense, we still haven't seen JPJ on the field.
42:02So like his impact on that trade still has been yet to be felt.
42:06So how can he transform that defense? I'm with you on the Cowboys as the team I want to be betting on in this division right now.
42:15Well, the Anders are a total crap show. So are the Eagles.
42:18Yeah. They're at plus 165. Eagles are plus 177 as consensus odds.
42:22So like I would take the Cowboys or I'll take the Giants.
42:26I don't think the Eagles or commanders are going to be division guys.
42:29No. Giants are plus 327 consensus odds. I'll take that bet.
42:33Commanders plus 774 on bettingpros.com. So yeah, terrible week for the NFC East.
42:37Hilariously bad week, actually. Before I move on, I need to tell you about this new prediction market called Polymarket.
42:43It's a stock exchange for sports buying in and selling out on your terms.
42:47When your team goes down to 20%, you can buy in and sell it off at 40% when they come back to double your money.
42:55They are so confident you'll never go back to the other guys.
42:58They're giving you a free $25 on your first trade when you deposit just $10.
43:03Now they've launched a new feature, Squads, a group chat where you can see what everyone is trading on.
43:08So download the Polymarket app today and use FPPOD when you sign up.
43:12That's FPPOD to get $25 free after you deposit just $10.
43:16Erickson, what's your next discussion point here? Can the 49ers keep this up?
43:20That is my one concern about this team that has obviously looked like a juggernaut.
43:24You know, one of the best teams, if not the best team in the NFL through five weeks.
43:30Going up to Seattle in a back and forth contest.
43:33Again, a lot of turnovers were in this game.
43:3549ers had more giveaways in week five and takeaways than they had in their first four games of 2026 combined.
43:41Brock Purdy definitely faced the toughest defense of the year.
43:44I know you mentioned this last week, Worm, where he had not been sacked through the first four games of the season.
43:51It was actually a mind-blowing stat. Now that was not obviously the case here in Seattle.
43:56Purdy was pressured on 17 of his 34 dropbacks, right around 50%.
44:00Third highest pressure rate he had faced in a game of his career.
44:04But still, this team did not waver. He made plays off script, which is why Brock Purdy is such the perfect quarterback in this Kyle Shannon offense.
44:12Because when the scripted plays aren't there, he can still create on his own.
44:16Which is what I think separates him from all the past Kyle Shanahan merchants, right, at quarterback.
44:21Whether it was Garoppolo or Nick Mullins or any of these guys who put up gaudy numbers.
44:26But ultimately always fell short of really reaching that peak.
44:29And Brock Purdy, I think, has shown that, no, like, I can reach that peak in this offense.
44:35And the fact that he's doing it with just this potential hodgepodge of receivers.
44:39Besides Mike Evans and George Kittle, right? Mike Evans in that one drive.
44:43I don't remember. I think it was in the second half.
44:46Masterclass. Between Brock Purdy and Mike Evans. Just, Mike Evans is not necessarily creating a ton of separation.
44:52But he's finding ways to get open. He's winning his contested catches.
44:55So, Mike Evans in this game. Led the team with 10 targets.
44:597 catches. 113 yards. That's the most against anyone that has faced Seattle this season, according to NextGenStats.
45:04Caught a touchdown. Contested catch. Machine. 31% catch rate.
45:07Overexpected. The highest from a receiver with at least 10 targets in a game this season.
45:125 catches in tight windows. Tied for third most by any player this year.
45:16He looked like he was a 27-year-old Mike Evans.
45:19I was blown away by how great he looked.
45:22And then you add the contact that this guy's playing with like broken ribs.
45:26Like, you're just like, oh my god, dude. But that brings up the question of, is this sustainable?
45:31Right? Like, constantly, they're going to the sideline. Chris McCaffrey is getting worked on.
45:35Mike Evans is being on with broken ribs. Debo Samuel is already hurt again.
45:40Right? Like, is it actually... Can you rely on players like a Brandon Cooks?
45:44Like, is he going to have to play a role in this offense long term for them to have sustained success?
45:50That's my big question for the 49ers. Because right now, they're at the...
45:54You know, I'd like to say they're at the healthiest that they are.
45:58Because it's the start of the season. Or we're five weeks in.
46:02But I don't know. We talked about the NFC North.
46:05And how they're going to get guys back. And I know the 49ers are missing Nick Bosa.
46:10So he's someone they're going to get back. But what about the 49ers?
46:14Like, is this a chance where it's like, you should sell high on the 49ers?
46:18Like, they're not going to be able to keep this up?
46:22Or is this just, hey, their injury luck maybe is working a little bit more in their favor compared to last season where it was like, absolutely terrible?
46:30That's kind of what I was thinking. Because right now, this team on paper looks really, really great.
46:36And obviously, they're undefeated. But what happens as the season progresses?
46:39I would say that as long as Brock Purdy and Fred Warner are healthy, then yes.
46:44Like, they can keep – Fred Warner is awesome.
46:47We know how he changes his defense. And Brock Purdy is no longer playing really good quarterback with people around him.
46:53He is playing really good quarterback despite the people around him and elevating the people around him.
46:58Like, he has been good in the past, D-Bro.
47:01Not a sister quarterback. But this is the first time where it's just really like, oh, he is elevating the offense.
47:07And obviously, it's already a very strong offense given the pieces and who are healthy and the Kyle Shanahan of it all.
47:14So, like, I think absolutely – they're minus money to win the division, which is kind of insane considering that it's a
47:20division with the Rams and the Seahawks. And I think it's deserved.
47:24But, like, right now, they're minus money, consensusoddsofbettingpros.com. They are not the Super Bowl favorites.
47:29That is still the Rams, consensusoddsofbettingpros.com. Obviously, we'll see how that game plays out tonight.
47:33Rams versus Bills is a really interesting one. But they are favorites to win their division at 5-0.
47:39And I think it's really deserved. And I, like, yeah, to me, the simple answer to this question, Erickson, is yes.
47:45Wait, so they're not favorites to win their division, but they – No, so they are consensusodds to win the division on bettingpros.com.
47:52But their Super Bowl odds are worse than the Rams?
47:55Correct. It's minus 176 to win the division. It's a better Super Bowl.
47:59It's all I heard. The Rams are plus 6-12 consensus to win the Super Bowl.
48:03Niners are tied with three other teams at plus 800.
48:06So it's close on both. Let me check the Rams division odds.
48:10I'll go back to that page here. Rams in the division.
48:13Because, I mean, it is – it's like a – they're three wins behind, right?
48:18Like, there is – yes, Rams are plus 275 to win the division.
48:22Yeah. So there is a sizable gap there in the division odds.
48:25But Super Bowl still getting preference to the Rams.
48:28I think the 49ers keep this up. And it's the Kyle Shanahan of it all because, again, dude, what did we see last year?
48:35Mack Jones, parts of pieces, Kendrick Bourne Weeks, all these other guys.
48:39Like, Jake Tongass coming out of the woodwork. Like, scheme and coaching freaking matters.
48:43And Brock Purdy playing in an MVP level. Christian McCaffrey's still healthy.
48:47George Kittle's still healthy. Could they make a trade for anybody?
48:50Hello, Brian Thomas Jr. Not saying that that happens, but could they make a trade for anybody to reinforce this?
48:56And also, then you look at their schedule. Okay, let's walk the schedule, boys.
49:00They got five wins. Commanders, okay. That's a sixth win.
49:04Falcons, I think that's a seventh win. The Raiders, that's an eighth win.
49:07Cowboys, probably a ninth win. Then they get the Viking Seahawks.
49:11Fine, let's get those as toss-ups. Giants, tenth win.
49:13Rams, okay, toss-up. Chargers, 11th win. Chiefs, okay, fine.
49:16We'll just give them an L. Eagles, Cardinals to finish the season?
49:20Yeah, the 49ers are for real. Yeah. I think the point that you made worm about if Fred Warner and Brock Purdy are healthy, that's all that matters.
49:28I think that is the biggest point. Yep. Yeah, and it used to be that you would say, oh, if Christian McCaffrey's healthy, that's all that matters.
49:36But now it is Brock Purdy on the offense.
49:39He's just looking awesome. Not a system. And I have this guy you'll pull up, too, Debra.
49:44I was going to say, like, yeah, like, even if you give them, say, like, oh, they lose one of Dallas, Minnesota,
49:51they're probably going to split with Seattle, so give them another loss there.
49:55And then, like, let's say they lose the second Rams game, like, and the Chiefs.
49:59That's, like, four losses at the most. Now, things could happen, right?
50:03You could trip up somewhere else that's unexpected. Like, right, maybe Penix is back for the Falcons game, and Bijan just goes off, right?
50:10Like, stuff can happen. Brock Purdy, even if he gets hurt or something like that again, we got Mac Jones, so we're good.
50:17We already see what it looks like. Yeah, no, I think this is a really great team to be thinking of as
50:24the one seed of the NFC this year. Like, regardless of what, if we're everything, they actually win the Super Bowl.
50:30I think the one seed of the NFC is, like, a really smart thing to be looking at for them.
50:36Debro, speaking of legitimate contenders, you want to talk about the Vikings here.
50:40Let's have the conversation, boys. Are the Vikings a legitimate Super Bowl contender?
50:44No, next question. I don't think they are. No, I don't think they are either, but I think people are going to look at the 5-0 record.
50:52They're going to look at how good the defense has played.
50:56They're going to say, to your point, we have not seen Kyler Murray with Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and TJ Hawkinson on the field altogether.
51:03They've withstood offensive line injuries, OKOC, and all the other things in between.
51:07I don't think they're a Super Bowl contender. I think the defense is really, really talented, but also, again, walking the schedule.
51:14They played the Packers. They played the Bears. They played the Buccaneers, the Dolphins, and the Saints.
51:19And yes, they get Daniel Jones, who cannot move, and the Colts next.
51:23I think the real litmus test is going to be they get the Lions and the Bills after them, and people are
51:30going to cool their jets on the Vikings a lot after those two games.
51:34I don't look at them as a Super Bowl contender.
51:37I still do not believe in Kyler Murray as a fit for this offense and for this team.
51:42So, no. It's more than just those two games.
51:45From Week 8 and through Week 15, they played the Lions, Bills, Packers, Niners, Falcons, Panthers, Patriots, Lions.
51:50Yep. Like, even the worst teams in that group, if the Penix is healthy, the Falcons offense has looked like a wagon.
51:57Panthers offense has looked so improved this year. Patriots offense seems like it's recovered.
52:01Green Bay, like if Jordan Love is hitting those deep shots to Kristen Watson, that is eight straight weeks of potentially very high-level offenses.
52:09Now, this is a very high-level defense. I do believe it is totally a Super Bowl-caliber defense.
52:14I do believe that. But I don't think it is such a good defense that it can overcome.
52:19Like, I can't sit here and say Kyler Murray is the quarterback of a true Super Bowl contender.
52:25I just, I haven't seen it. The other thing with this defense, and we haven't seen it to this point, but it's
52:31going to happen at some point, and I think it's either it happens against the Lions or the Bills, the high-variance world
52:38that Brian Flores lives in with these blitz rates in the 70s and 90s percent, you are hedging that your pass rush
52:45and your blitz destroys the opposing offense. When you are wrong, and that does not get home, this is also a defense
52:51that historically has given up high explosive play rates.
52:54So when, if there's any kind of small hole in the dam that where a team is good enough to withstand this,
53:01the quarterback play or the running back or all those parts and pieces in between, this defense can also hemorrhage explosive plays.
53:07We haven't seen that to this point. I think that Moore is in line with the teams they have played to this
53:14point, but does that happen after they play the Lions and the Bills and some of these other teams because then they
53:21get the Packers and the 49ers right after that, can say, oh, okay.
53:25See how that worked. Let's try that. I, they're obviously like, they're very strong favorites to make the playoffs.
53:30When you get, when you start at five and O, you just have the mathematical advantage Erickson, but as a legitimate Super Bowl contender, I don't agree.
53:38I'm pretty sure we talked about in the off season how there was a reminder about the Vikings and that when you
53:45looked at their opening schedule, you looked at Kyler Murray's track record of a guy that's been a hot starter, right?
53:51He has traditionally played a lot better in September and October.
53:55I know that there's a lot of jokes that get thrown out about some certain video game being released around the end
54:01of October and then he starts to play really bad, but that's just because defense is figure out what he's doing.
54:08So I agree. He would, this team would be a sell for me where we talked about the 49ers as a, like a buy.
54:15Again, it's not surprising looking at the Vikings and who they've played and why they're five and O.
54:20Now I know that you wouldn't really expect it to be this way where we would expect Kyler Murray to play better
54:27in a five and O start for the Minnesota Vikings.
54:30Now it's not all on him because he did get hurt in the first game of the season.
54:36He's missing playmakers. I felt that he has looked a little bit better just from week to week, but it's still a
54:42really hard to be super defiant about it just because he's not playing with his full allotment of weapons.
54:48And when it looks like he finally developed something with TJ Hawkinson, oh, well, he immediately gets knocked out of the game,
54:55but he's still missing throws, which you're an NFL quarterback.
54:58There are throws that you have to make, especially in this offense.
55:01And when you're playing better offenses on the other side and you can't rely on Brian Flores to bail you out, I
55:08just don't see a scenario where, oh, Kyler Murray, Vikings are down.
55:12He gets the ball in the fourth quarter and he's going to drive 80 yards to get them to win.
55:18I would bet against that happening against some of these tougher matchups.
55:21So I would agree that probably a team, yeah, maybe they make the wild card, but would not be surprising if they just get immediately bounced.
55:29Also, can we quickly talk about the fact that if Aaron Jones continues to sustain 25 touches a week, he will not
55:36hold up for the rest of the season. He just, he won't.
55:39He can't. They have a bye week this week, so they should get Mason back in week seven.
55:45Minnesota's Super Bowl odds right now, plus 2,200 teams with shorter odds include the Broncos, and this is consensus odds on bettingpros.com.
55:51The Broncos, the Bears, the Bengals, the Patriots are tied.
55:55The Jags, obviously Seahawks, Ravens, Bills, Chiefs, Niners, Rams, all have shorter odds than the Vikings.
55:59And I think those are all correct for the most part.
56:03Maybe the Broncos, you could argue not, but like the others, I think, yeah.
56:07I'll go quickly on my second reaction because we kind of talked a lot about the Texans during the Marvin Harrison Jr.
56:14trade update there. But my question was really just, did the Texans right the ship or did they just happen to face the Titans this week?
56:21So I think we keep this one quick because we talked a lot about Houston already, but Erickson, I'll start with you.
56:28Just what do you think about the answer to this question?
56:31I think it was just the Texans kind of just like checking off the box, right?
56:36We got to get a win. Let's just take the layup here.
56:40Watching this Titans every offense, every single week, what is this offense trying to be?
56:44Like what in the ideal world is this offense?
56:47It just seems so out of sync and they have no identity.
56:51Do they want to run the football? Do they want to be a spread offense?
56:55Like, like what's the point? I don't know. I don't know what they're doing.
57:00And it's not helping Cam Ward because it's really hard to get justification of like, okay, he can be our franchise quarterback
57:06because nothing I've seen from him through five weeks is, oh yeah, like this is the direction that they should be going in.
57:13It just seems like an offense that's totally lost.
57:16That doesn't have an identity. So the Texans obviously took advantage of a really bad opponent like they should.
57:22And I think next week is going to be more about the litmus test for the Texans against the Jaguars who are
57:28obviously a actual competitive team in the AFC South.
57:31Debra? I, yeah, I think this is more them facing the Titans.
57:35I think now to the point of this, their schedule is about to do them a few different favors.
57:40The Jacksonville Jaguars, I think are going to thump them this coming week.
57:44But after that, they get the Giants and Chargers.
57:47So then they could, you know, be rolling into, after that with like three wins, I think they can beat the Giants and beat the Chargers.
57:55So people still have hope and stuff. But nah, I don't think this is the Texans figuring it out.
58:01I think they just beat up on a bad team in the Titans.
58:05All right, let's get to our final reactions. Each of us, Erickson, what was your number three?
58:10Drake May. Drake May. Five touchdowns for Drake May, who is officially back, at least back against the bad defenses that he faced.
58:17But going into this matchup, the Raiders were looked at as, okay, like this is a legitimate defense.
58:22They had one of the better pressure rates entering the game.
58:25But in this particular matchup, I don't know, Josh McDaniels was kind of in his bag with the pass protection.
58:31Drake May had plenty of time to throw and he was just absolute masterclass with the deep ball.
58:37Two weeks in a row, the Raiders have been getting cooked by explosive plays and Drake May on throws of 10 plus air yards.
58:44Eight of 11 for 206 yards and three touchdowns.
58:47Third time in his career, he completed over 70% of his downfield pass attempts according to NextGenStats.
58:52He just had a field day going downfield. It was one of those two where he's dropping back to throw and just
58:59kind of like lofting it up there. And just these guys are wide open making big plays.
59:04Basically everyone except Romeo Dobbs was catching all their downfield passes because that's the Romeo Dobbs experiment.
59:09But Kyle Williams was getting involved. Demario Douglas was like wide open.
59:13Chisholm is his. He continues to make plays. So practice squad player I've heard only Erickson.
59:17Practice squad player per CJ Gardner Johnson. Can't believe in his.
59:21Dude, like, come on, dude. Do you guys know where Drake May is ranked for fantasy points scoring on the season?
59:27Number one the last two weeks. Yeah. Do you know where he is on the season after his unbelievable start?
59:33After week three, they're like, oh, he's like QB 34 in points total.
59:37Do you know where he is so far this season?
59:40QB 10 because the last two weeks have just been nuts.
59:43That's higher. I'm getting a six. He is QB 7.
59:46Yeah. And 40 points against the Raiders. Allen is already ahead.
59:50So unless Stafford drops 30 fantasy points tonight, he will stay at seven after Monday Night Football.
59:55That's remarkable. He almost hit 40 fantasy points against the Raiders.
59:5839.46. He's had two wild games, dude. Career high against the Las Vegas Raiders.
60:02And again, the context behind no A.J. Brown last two weeks.
60:06A.J. Brown's coming back at some point. And then you get to see, again, going back to teams that are getting guys back.
60:13The Patriots are one of those teams. They invested so much in A.J.
60:17Brown. We haven't even seen that yet for a full game between Drake May and A.J.
60:22Brown. If Drake May can keep up this, I think that A.J.
60:25Brown can at least help when they do face cover defenses.
60:29And losing Travion is not that big of a loss.
60:32He's the backup running back. I hope you traded for him in fantasy.
60:35His next five weeks, Jets, Bears, Dolphins, Packers, Lions are the next five games he has before the bye.
60:41So this might continue to be on a real upswing trajectory for his production.
60:45Debro, for you, is Drake May, you know, again, back is sort of like a tough word sometimes and is almost used as like a meme.
60:53But like, is this schedule related? Is this him getting back too close to what he was last year?
60:59Where do you come down on Drake May right now in terms of how you project him?
61:04Not even to think fantasy production because obviously those are some easy matchups coming up, but just like where you would rank
61:11him amongst NFL quarterbacks just for the rest of the season.
61:14Where do you come down on him? I mean, I think, you know, with the first few games of the season, the
61:21overreaction when people also, you know, putting together his playoff run was a bit overblown.
61:25I think that, you know, I'm backing on Drake in the sense of like, also like Josh McDaniels is doing smarter things to help his young quarterback.
61:34He's not focusing on one player. He's spreading the ball around.
61:37He's giving what the, what the defense is taking because the biggest thing when I dove through his film was he's just
61:44forcing plays and doing things that are stupid. If he plays his game and makes better decisions, he's going to play better
61:50while also use utilizing his legs more like, yeah, like I think Drake may, you know, we can roll through like a top five, top 10 list.
61:58I think he's somewhere comfortably in there. Now, where we want to put him in the top, say seven quarterbacks in the
62:05NFL, I think is very debatable considering where everybody's played and how all that, you know, especially with a sample size is only five weeks.
62:13He, you know, obviously the turnovers was a big issue early on and could be going forward.
62:18Like weeks two and three, even when he wasn't producing fantasy numbers, he was still throwing for nine and a half or eight yards per attempt.
62:26Like those are still good numbers. Like I tend to think that it, it was an overreaction to early season.
62:32Just like I said, a lot of turnovers that will smooth out throughout the season.
62:36I'm not going to say they're going to go away entirely, but I think they will continue to smooth out as they
62:43have the last two weeks and he's going to be just fine.
62:46So yeah, just, just the Will Campbell thing though is, is one like, sure.
62:51Is a legitimate concern losing when you're starting tackles is never, I mean, just ask the chargers, right?
62:56Like it's not, it's not ideal for even to given the opponents again, like David Bailey in the New York jets, like
63:03David Bailey's coming off a monster, monster game. So he's going to be pinning his ears, rushing the passer next week when
63:09the jets take on the pads to all the main thing, bro, what's your, to the McDaniel stuff real fast over the
63:16last two weeks, the Patriots are 12th in motion and 11th in play action rate, which they were bottom five in the
63:23first few weeks in both of those metrics. So McDaniels or yeah, Josh McDaniels like screwing his head back on straight has been a big thing too.
63:31What's your next reaction, D bro? I'm going to ask the question and I did not tweet these stats out because I
63:38didn't want anybody to see this, but I'm going to ask the question, boys, is Jalen Warren the most underrated running back in the entire NFL?
63:45So first of all, amongst all running backs in AAV, he is 27th in average annual value of contract right now.
63:52Let me just read off a few names in the same area code as old Jalen Warren.
63:57Alvin Kamara, Aaron Jones, Jordan Mason, Chris Rodriguez, Rico Dowdle.
64:00Jalen Warren since 2022 amongst 76 qualifying running backs.
64:03Jalen Warren is 15th in explosive run rate ahead of Kenneth Walker.
64:06He's 11th in yards after contact per attempt right ahead of Derek Henry and Bajon Robinson.
64:11Jalen Warren is also 6th in missed tackles force per attempt ahead of Nick Chubb.
64:16Oh, and let's look at his receiving stats, shall we?
64:1978 qualifying running backs as wide as receiving options.
64:21Jalen Warren, 8th in yards per route run ahead of Gibbs, Austin Eckler, Alvin Kamara, and 5th in first downs per route run ahead of Devon A.
64:30Chan. Is Jalen Warren the most underrated running back in the NFL?
64:33I think emphatically. So, what do y'all guys think?
64:36I think this is a great call and a correct one because when you asked the question, I started trying to think
64:43who else I would want to make the case for.
64:46I'm like, okay, well, it's a great case. Let me think about where else I would go.
64:51And I'm like looking through the names just in case I forget.
64:54I don't think anybody really stands out to me as somebody that I would usurp Jalen Warren in this conversation.
65:00These are the running backs that are underrated but I think not to the degree that Jalen Warren is.
65:06Erickson, what do you think? Couldn't agree more because I think that Jalen Warren has been pigeonholed into, oh yeah, he's like
65:13this scat back guy that was Najee Harris' backup and that was another guy's backup with the Pittsburgh Steelers and now the
65:19Steelers have had their hand forced at least the last couple weeks having to play him in a full-time role and what do you know?
65:27It's awesome because Jalen Warren is freaking awesome and I think going back to his profile, I think people will be shocked when you look at Jalen Warren.
65:35He's 5'8", 204 pounds because I think people think Jalen Warren is like 185 pound running back which is why he's always
65:42been put into this committee role when no, this guy can carry a full workload and does exceptional with it as both a rusher and receiver.
65:50I mean, the guy is ripping off 50-yard touchdowns as a rusher and receiver week in and week out and we always knew that he was super efficient.
65:58It was always a matter of okay, well the Steelers are never going to let him run away with the job and
66:05even that was the talks entering the season where it's going to be a split between Rico Dowdle and Jalen Warren but
66:12I know that Rico Dowdle has a chance to come back.
66:15Rico Dowdle knows how this rolls, right? He was with Carolina when he was balling out he got the rock when he
66:22was not and missed time and Chuba Hubbard took over like he's not coming back to his starting role or a big
66:28role at all in my opinion so I think that the Steelers realize are now being in a position where dude like
66:35yes let's continue to feature Jalen Warren because he is so exceptional he makes our offense go so much more efficiently than
66:42with Rico especially as a receiver with Aaron Rodgers Rodgers loves to check the ball down to a receiver out of the
66:48backfield so yeah this is a great pull dude and the big thing that I want to I want to tie a
66:55bow on this because everybody has discounted Jalen Warren's talent every single year because of his size the role that Pittsburgh has
67:02played him in and said that he is this is small sample variance just for everybody at home just understand that this
67:08this sample size that I pulled from 2022 all the way to this season up including last week is a sample size
67:15of 627 rushing attempts so almost like two full seasons of a full time elite bell cow workload and also 892 routes
67:22and 215 targets this is not a small sample he is that freaking good the only name I'm like looking through that
67:28I could even try to make a case for is like maybe Chase Brown just because like the draft capital I think
67:35is still held against him but I definitely think Jalen Warren is more underrated than Chase Brown who do you think is
67:42better Jalen Warren Chase Brown straight up Jalen Warren not close I think as like an actual running back on the field
67:48that I watched him play I think Jalen Warren is better Chase Brown has a better role he has had a better
67:55role that I agree with but I'd rather have Chase Brown in fantasy but I think Jalen Warren is the better Chase
68:02Brown can't even touch anything close to what Jalen Warren has done as a receiver in the NFL at all nothing I
68:08mean Chase Brown can be a good receiver yeah but on a he had 11 catches last week no but on an
68:15efficiency standpoint he's not even in the same I know but the way you said that it sounded like Chase Brown is
68:21bad at that Chase Brown is a good pass catcher Jalen Warren is better I'm not saying he's bad but Jalen Warren
68:28is elite in every metric I've every no no I think Jalen Warren is the better NFL running back I overrated than
68:35underrated yeah I'm like could you make the case that Bijan is actually a little underrated because the offense does him no
68:41favors and he's even better but everybody knows he's amazing there aren't that many options out there I think it's a great
68:48shot and I haven't really thought about Jalen Warren in that context before so I think it's a really good thing to
68:55bring up my final reaction here is and I know they were on by this week but I think the Chiefs at
69:01only the fifth best Super Bowl odds right now is an absolute gift we are talking about the best quarterback ever outside
69:08of Tom Brady for in some people's opinion my opinion included and a guy who has been the best quarterback certainly of
69:15his generation in terms of playoff performances and winning Super Bowls and making Super Bowls a head coach that a lot of
69:21people think is one of the best ever an offense that finally has an explosive running back who has been just a
69:28hand in glove fit in this offense and has completely changed the way defenses have to defend this team a defense that
69:35is led by an excellent excellent even in the especially in the playoffs defensive coordinator that has a lot of young guys
69:41that are going to get better throughout the course of the season and already is pretty talented right now and this team's
69:48already undefeated to start the season so far they're 4-0 they've just had their buy it's an early buy which can hurt
69:55later in the season but man I'm just looking at this team part of this too is you look at the other
70:01teams in the NFL we really like the Niners but yes maybe it is a bit the Rams are 2-2 right now
70:08you can poke holes in the other teams that are real contenders here and the Chiefs not only do they look really
70:15good this season they also have the pedigree of these guys have been there before they've done it before you look at
70:21the other teams that are at the top of the NFL standings right now they haven't done it once and again they
70:28have two losses already Niners have been there they haven't won one recently Jags haven't been there Vikings haven't been there this
70:35Ravens iteration hasn't been there so I mean again to give me the fifth best odds for the Chiefs as opposed to
70:41first or second where I think they should be I feel like we're going to look back on that in December and
70:48say what a gift so I assume that we're going to see him look better and better as the season progresses I
70:55think the main question mark is just the receiver room right now and how it's set up we an elite running game
71:01with Kenneth Walker I think they're going to use more of Emma Johnson especially to make sure Walker stays healthy throughout the
71:08entire season and hasn't their starting left tackle not even played the season Josh Simmons has he just missed the entire start
71:14of the year I decision moves when it comes to personnel when something doesn't work they don't try to stick it out
71:21they make the move they cut bait and they move on so trusting in Patrick Mahomes seems like investing in your 401k
71:28just seems like a screwed with anything else stated here my biggest question mark is the same thing that Erickson has is
71:34what do we do with this wide receiver room like where she rice is is hurt who is he in this offense
71:41how effective is he we know Xavier worthy is a nothing burger like he's just whatever role you play him in he's
71:48just non existent so he's a non factor so you're talking about a passing attack which Mahomes is but dude I forget
71:54was week two week three one of those weeks where Mahomes that was the best passing performance I've legit best football I've
72:01seen Mahomes play in the last three to four seasons but with this wide receiver room do we see that moving forward
72:08like I mean asking people like asking Jalen Royals and Cyrus Allen to step up and be those difference making guys is
72:14a lot could they trade for somebody like this is like the commanders just say okay we're tossing it all in for
72:21this season could they trade Stefan Diggs definitely need wide receiver help from somebody because I don't think that again talking about
72:28a team's final form and being a Super Bowl contender I absolutely can see it but I think they need to get
72:34to that final form they need another wide receiver here it's partly that I think this seems really good and partly that
72:41I don't think there's an obvious juggernaut that like maybe the Niners is the best case you can make but they have
72:48injury concerns as well every team has flaws dude every single team has flaws 100% so I'm like yeah if there's no
72:54perfect team out there why shouldn't we the Jaguars want help the Chiefs either Jags I think that would make a lot
73:01of sense if the Jags were in the NFC and we're not helping you to that point what wide receiver should have
73:08been the target for them which it sounded like they weren't in on that so what wide receiver is but maybe Stefan
73:14Diggs but outside of him I'm like it's probably somebody on the margin it's like it's probably like Jalen McMillan from Tampa
73:21or somebody like that where it's like it's like a team that's not very to get a gauge on this Titans passing
73:28attack on the broadcast they were talking about yeah we really want to get Calvin really going and he caught a pass
73:34on the first drive and then I don't think I don't think I don't think Philly really does end up selling off
73:41like Dontavian Wicks maybe oh I thought you were going to go like full ham mode like Devonta Smith or no I
73:48don't think I don't think but but yeah like Wicks or somebody you know somebody like that maybe kind of comes to
73:54mind because that's that's the head scratcher part for me it's like they need wide receiver help but obviously has connection with
74:01the commanders obviously he wasn't there with Diggs but Diggs I think was rumored to be in the market for the Kansas
74:07City when he was still a free agent obviously he ended up going with Washington but he doesn't want to be I
74:14mean Diggs won the Super Bowl last year he wants to be contender it's NFC AFC if they clean house Dan Quinn
74:21is fired if I'm Adam Peters I'm like I can get draft picks for a veteran wide receiver that's probably not going
74:27try like there's yeah I don't know Tyreek can be ready to like I mean whatever form he's in until November right
74:34but who cares I mean stretching like he's got a package of plays type of role that's all you're asking out of
74:41him and then Stefan digs and Rashid Rice are ahead and I see you again next time this is an iHeart podcast
