A.J. Brown

PositiveInjury2:00

Designated to return from injured reserve after ankle injury; Mike Vrabel indicated return is sooner rather than later with possible Week 6 availability, though no guarantee he plays immediately. Coming back to an offense that has been humming over the last couple of games.

Insight page
PositiveProjection4:00

Top-12 ranking reasonable for first game back against Bears defense despite short week; potential shootout scenario with Drake Maye playing at QB1 level over recent weeks supports high-end projection.

Insight page

Bryce Young

PositiveProjection13:00

QB3 level production; has shown ability to throw 300+ yards and three touchdowns in games; Panthers offense gaining confidence with recent performances.

Insight page

Caleb Williams

NegativeInjury24:07

Williams is estimated to practice and trending toward playing against the Falcons after a walkthrough on Wednesday; the source notes things are trending in the correct direction for his availability.

Insight page
PositiveProjection24:23

In his one full game (Week 1 vs. Panthers), Williams put up 59 points and showed significant leg damage; the source notes limited performance against Vikings was due to rainy conditions and Brian Flores' blitz-heavy scheme, making it a poor baseline for expectations; the Falcons matchup is interesting because their secondary is weak and they're down cornerbacks, though their run defense is strong.

Insight page
NegativeRole25:00

The source notes Williams has a tendency to abandon the called play and run around like Kyler Murray, creating plays after the fact; coming off injury may reduce his propensity to run so frantically, potentially changing his usage pattern.

Insight page
NegativeRole25:29

Caleb Williams' tendency to freelance and create off-script after the play is called—rejecting reads and running around—will be constrained by his hamstring injury recovery, limiting his ability to extend plays and improvise.

Insight page

Chuba Hubbard

PositiveValue13:00

Locked and loaded into Panthers offense; great trade target when acquired for Isaiah Likely; Panthers offense has shown ability to produce with running backs (Chuba was stud last year, Rico Dowdle took over last year).

Insight page

Demario Douglas

PositiveRole3:00

Had a good game recently as part of Patriots receiving corps stepping up in A.J. Brown's absence; source hopes his expanded role continues even after Brown returns.

Insight page

Drake London

PositiveProjection7:00

Source was gun shy on Drake London rest of season due to Michael Penix injury concerns; Penix has dealt with ton of injuries in past, creating uncertainty for London's target volume.

Insight page

Drake Maye

PositiveProjection4:00

Playing at QB1 level over last couple of weeks; Patriots offense humming with his play supporting high-end receiver projections.

Insight page

Isaiah Likely

PositiveValue13:00

Traded away for Chuba Hubbard in a smart surplus move; could potentially outscore Trey McBride rest of season depending on quarterback stability.

Insight page

J.J. McCarthy

NegativeRole15:00

Taking snaps in RPO handoff packages in Giants game; source speculates they're trying to get him into offense but doesn't view McCarthy as a weapon as a runner; took big hits on snaps.

Insight page

Jameis Winston

NegativeProjection15:00

Last week was first time attempting 54+ passes without throwing interception; picked up for Week 6 start vs. Saints but no guarantee he starts whole season; could be replaced by J.J. McCarthy in fantasy playoff time.

Insight page

Jaylen Warren

PositiveRole18:00

Source uses as example of how injuries force coaches to make right decisions; when Rico hurt, forced to make Jalen Warren bell cow, unleashing his talent that was previously held back.

Insight page

Kyle Williams

PositiveRole3:00

Making big plays for Patriots offense; source expresses hope that his expanded role is not stunted by A.J. Brown's return and that young playmakers continue to have bigger roles going forward.

Insight page

Luther Burden

PositiveSleeper30:30

Burden is a buy-low candidate; he has been the target leader through five games with three different quarterbacks playing for Chicago. With Caleb Williams returning, there is an opportunity to buy before seeing the potentially different Bears passing game with him in the fold.

Insight page

Malik Nabers

NegativeRole15:00

Mentioned in context of potential future receiving target for J.J. McCarthy if he takes over as Giants quarterback.

Insight page

Michael Penix Jr.

NegativeInjury7:00

Expected to start Week 6 after suffering rib injury in overtime loss to Ravens; will practice Wednesday on limited basis dealing with pain tolerance; rib injuries are pain-tolerance matters that can heal with proper padding and protection.

Insight page
NegativeInjury25:00

Penix is dealing with injuries coming off injuries heading into the matchup against the Bears; the source frames this as an interesting dynamic with Caleb Williams also managing injury recovery.

Insight page

Mike Evans

PositiveProjection29:05

Evans is a top 15 fantasy wide receiver at the moment; with Devo Samuels missing time and Brandon Cooks just signed, Evans is the clear target for Brock Purdy who is constantly looking his way. This week against the Commanders, Evans is a top six play due to facing Mike Sanders, a cornerback who cannot cover anybody.

Insight page
NegativeValue29:55

Evans is a potential sell-high candidate based on his age, injury history, and the fact that he plays for the 49ers, a team where players frequently get injured; however, if you accept that risk, he remains a top-six play this week.

Insight page

Rashee Rice

NegativeInjury21:14

Rice did not practice on Wednesday following the bye week despite having a full week to rehab a hamstring injury. The source expresses significant concern about his availability this week and next week, noting that not practicing after a bye week is a major red flag for a player with a history of recurring soft tissue injuries. The source suspects Rice may not play this week.

Insight page
NegativeRole22:34

Rice faces potential league suspension and uncertainty around his availability; the source expresses concern about the Chiefs receiving room overall, noting that Rice's potential absence and Tyquan Thornton's foot injury (wheels up) leave limited receiving options beyond Travis Kelce.

Insight page

Rhamondre Stevenson

PositiveRole5:00

Likely to be bell cow for Patriots with Henderson out for next couple of weeks; getting 15-20 touches per game makes him super valuable; A.J. Brown's presence may help ground game by forcing defenses to account for him rather than crowding the box.

Insight page

Rico Dowdle

NegativeRole13:00

Took over running back role last year for Panthers; mentioned as example of Panthers offense's history of producing with running backs.

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

NegativeInjury27:48

Saquon Barkley might return this week but did not practice, leaving his status uncertain; when healthy, he will command a full workload as the only viable running back on the Eagles roster.

Insight page
PositiveRole28:35

Barkley will return to a full blown workload once healthy because there are no other healthy running backs on the Eagles roster; Damian and Devante Smith have not stepped up with high-end target shares or productivity, positioning Barkley as the clear lead back.

Insight page

Travis Kelce

PositiveMatchup23:02

Coming off the bye week at age 37, Kelce is positioned to be extremely fresh and ready to perform against the Chargers, who remain winless; the source expresses confidence he'll be ready to rock in this favorable matchup.

Insight page

Trey McBride

NegativeProjection13:00

Elite tight end with potential rest-of-season concerns tied to Cardinals quarterback situation; could be outscored by Isaiah Likely rest of season depending on quarterback changes.

Insight page

Tyquan Thornton

NegativeInjury22:37

Thornton's foot injury is described as severe (wheels up), eliminating him as a potential receiving option for the Chiefs and contributing to overall concerns about the team's pass-catching depth.

Insight page

Tyreek Hill

NegativeRole22:24

Rumors are circulating that the Chiefs may pursue Tyreek Hill following his court case resolution, with most charges dropped though one remains and potential league suspension is still possible. Hill's agent Drew Rosenhaus indicated teams remain in contact. The source notes uncertainty about whether Rice's injury absence and Hill's potential arrival would overlap, but expresses general concern about the Chiefs receiving room outlook.

Insight page

Woody Marks

NegativeValue30:15

Marks is a sell-high candidate; he is projected as a bell cow but faces a really bad matchup this week. Additionally, a bye is coming up and Dave Montgomery will likely return, pushing Marks back into a split backfield situation even if he remains the lead back.

0:00This is an iHeart Podcast. Guaranteed Human. Maybe you can do both.
0:04Boost Mobile, what's your plan? What is going on everybody?
0:06Welcome to the tailgate. I will be your host, Andrew Erickson, joined by my buddy and he also shares a name with my favorite pasta, Derek Brown.
0:14What's going on man? I thought you were going to say your favorite other fantasy analyst, Derek Brown, and then you totally swerved and went right to pasta.
0:23Which by the way, common mistake, Alfredo's not a pasta.
0:26Oh man. It's a sauce. Okay, so my favorite sauce.
0:29You've learned so many new things today. Yes, tons of things to be learned today.
0:33We're talking about NFL previewing some of the biggest storylines heading into NFL Week 6.
0:37Dude, I can't believe it's already Week 6. Like we're already hitting the halfway point in October.
0:42It's going to be Halloween. It's going to be Thanksgiving before we know it, dude.
0:47How are you feeling going now six weeks strong?
0:49In most of my fantasy leagues, I'm feeling good and other ones not so much.
0:54And honestly, the thing is, it's tough going into the season as a Dolphins fan.
0:58Like I was just kind of ready for this.
1:01And now it's sort of like it's like running a marathon.
1:04Like I knew what I was getting into. I knew it was going to suck.
1:09And I just have to get my body through it.
1:12And I have to just mentally get through it.
1:14And that's what I'm doing right now. You know, we're not even halfway there.
1:18But the Dolphins at least are committed. They know what they're trying to do.
1:22Trying to lose games. Trying to get a high draft pick.
1:26Draft a quarterback of the future behind some. Look, I think that there's some young talent on the Dolphins.
1:31They have one of the youngest offensive lines in the NFL.
1:34So Jacob Rodriguez looks like the absolute stud at middle linebacker that's going to be racking up 20 plus tackles every single
1:41game from here out for the next 15 years.
1:44It seems like. And I mean, do the stash, man.
1:47Like I'm going to be Jacob Rodriguez for Halloween if I could grow a mustache.
1:51That's you can't do that. You can't do that as a Patriots fan.
1:55Even if you could grow two mustaches, you shouldn't do that.
1:58That's a horrible idea. All right. Well, we're bearing the lead here because the biggest storyline in news, it's probably actually not,
2:05but I put the show sheet together so I get to pick what we talk about first.
2:10A.J. Brown, wide receiver for the New England Patriots.
2:12He's back. He is back and ready to go.
2:15Maybe not fully ready. Mike Vrabel said on Wednesday, Patriots are designated A.J.
2:19Brown after his ankle injury to return from injured reserve.
2:22No guarantee that he's going to play necessarily in week six, but there's a chance.
2:26Vrabel talked about that earlier in the week that, hey, there's a chance that he could play, but his return seems like
2:32it's going to be sooner rather than later. So the king is back, A.J.
2:37Brown. And I mean, the fact that he's coming back to an offense that's been humming over the last couple games.
2:43I mean, this is a boost that the Patriots offense may not even need right now, but they're getting it anyway.
2:49So I'm obviously giddy about this. We saw A.J.
2:52Brown had limited stint in that first game against the Seahawks.
2:55Obviously, we know how the rest of it played out, banged up his ankle.
2:59But I mean, Alfredo, what are your kind of thoughts on A.J.
3:02Brown? Do you think he ends up playing in this game or do they think they weighed him one more week because
3:09the Patriots are playing on a short week on Thursday, going to Chicago to take on Kyle Williams and the Bears?
3:15Yeah, that's the thing is I don't think you wanted to come back too early and tweak anything like now that everything is back on track.
3:23And the Patriots also like the offense is doing it without A.J.
3:26Brown. The receivers are all stepping up. And when I say all like all of them, Demario Douglas had himself a good
3:33game after Chisholm had a good game. We finally got Kyle Williams making big plays out there.
3:38That's actually like my one thing is like A.J.
3:40Brown coming back. I hope it doesn't stunt Kyle Williams.
3:43Like I would love to see all of these young, exciting players continue to have bigger roles going forward.
3:49I know that there's like a Mac Hollins hive somewhere that's just really into grounding and eating food with their hands and
3:55just a whole bunch of fun stuff. But like, let's just get some of these exciting young playmakers a little more involved.
4:02And I think they can do that for one more week and then let yourself, you know, come back against the big game against Chicago and let A.J.
4:10Brown be fully ready to go. How high is too high to rank A.J.
4:14Brown in his first game back against that Bears defense?
4:17I mean. I mean, are you going you're going top 12 right out of the gate?
4:22I mean, it's I mean, with buys and stuff like that, it's it's reasonable.
4:26Yeah, right. It's always the thing with the buys.
4:29Whenever you look at rankings, like, oh, how are you going to rank this guy?
4:33And then you realize there are six teams on by like, well, top 20 is locked and loaded.
4:38And with like how many players that are already injured and how little there is, like the second, especially the way Drake
4:45Bay is playing, he's quarterback one over the last couple of weeks.
4:48And like the way he keeps playing. Yeah. Like it's hard to not be like, oh, that guy's going to get a
4:55mess of targets as soon as he comes back in a potential shootout.
4:59That sounds great. Yeah. So Patriots often should keep humming here along when they have the New York Jets and not afraid of that secondary.
5:06It's probably the weakest part of their defense. Their defense up front is actually played pretty well in some spots.
5:12We had a David Bailey breakout game and I am kicking myself for dropping him in an IDP league a couple of weeks back.
5:19So I'm like, oh man, this guy's never going to do anything.
5:23Of course, he just has like monster performance. Three sacks.
5:26I believe the Jets totaled eight sacks last week as we saw Deshaun Watson return to his bad form and just become a sack taking machine.
5:33So I do think they have some bodies up front that can maybe throw some issues at the Patriots.
5:39Offensive line that has been dealing with a lot of injuries again, flying under the radar.
5:44Will Campbell is going to miss games. So even though they're going to get AJ Brown back, Will Campbell looks like he's
5:50going to miss a couple of games here after getting hurt against the Raiders.
5:54Last point, Ramondre Stevenson is probably going to be the bell cow for the Patriots with Henderson out for the next couple of weeks.
6:01I do think that AJ Brown will actually help the ground game a little bit more just because of the presence that
6:08he offers on the field that defenses have to account for, especially when it comes to the safeties and where they're going and be deployed.
6:15You can't just crowd the box as much. Any other thoughts with Stevenson, Will Campbell, those types of plays?
6:21I mean, it's kind of like you take one step forward, two steps back here.
6:25I was excited for what could happen here with Ramondre and he's got a really easy schedule coming up.
6:31And then you lose Will Campbell for for a little bit here.
6:34And that I mean, that sucks. Obviously, you don't want to the Patriots offensive line is already so decimated.
6:40Like they just keep it feels like they keep losing a guy every couple of weeks here.
6:45But the offense is humming. Like you said, man, and Ramondre Stevenson, while he may not be like one of the elite
6:51tier backs, if you got a guy who's getting anywhere from 15 to 20 touches a game, that's a super valuable running
6:58back at this point, whether we're talking fantasy or anything.
7:01And Ramondre shown that he's good enough to handle the load, too.
7:04So Corey Kiner also apparently had a little bit of fumbling issue last week.
7:08So like all it takes is like a virus in that.
7:12Yeah, like all it takes is just like one fumble from him.
7:15And all of a sudden we're like, OK, Ramondre Stevenson, 26 touches.
7:19You know, it's right there for us. Yeah. Ramondre had clearly infiltrated the Seahawks locker room when the Patriots went to Seattle
7:25in week one and gave the Ick to Emmanuel Wilson and George Helani.
7:29And now they're showing the symptoms because they keep putting the ball on the turf.
7:33So we shall see who holds on to the ball this week when it comes to the fumbles.
7:39Let's go to a different quarterback scenario. Michael Penix is expected to start in week six after suffering a rib injury at
7:45the end of that thrilling Sunday night game against the Baltimore Ravens or the Falcons fell just short.
7:50Alfredo, as I was watching this game going into overtime and when I saw the two of us coming in, I immediately
7:57turned to my wife and said, he's going to throw an interception.
8:00And this game is going to be over. It wasn't on the first play.
8:04It was on the second play that he threw a pick and ended, sealed the Falcons fate there with them falling just short of the Baltimore Ravens.
8:12Savansky said that he's going to practice on Wednesday.
8:15He's going to be limited throughout the week, obviously dealing with a pain tolerance.
8:19I know that you were a little bit, I would say, gun shy on Drake London rest of season because of Michael
8:26Penix and he's dealt with a ton of injuries in the past.
8:29Now this is different from an ACL or a knee injury, but it's a rib injury.
8:34Guys take hits. If they don't keep him upright, is this a potential issue that do you think he, do you think
8:40the team is going to have to turn it to a again at some point sooner or later?
8:46Is it smart for them to throw him back out there?
8:49What like, what's your read with the Falcons right now with Penix?
8:52Is this the right thing to do throwing him back out there?
8:56Because we know how bad this team is without him.
8:59And is that kind of making them feel like pressed to kind of get him back out?
9:04We can't not have him there. I don't think they have any other choice.
9:08Like they need to know if Michael Penix is an NFL quarterback.
9:12Kevin Stefanski needs to try to keep his job because if they run two out there and just start losing games, like all bets are off.
9:19Everything in Atlanta could just simply blow up if Michael Penix is not playing game.
9:24And with rib injuries to like if you have enough padding, you have enough protection at that point.
9:29Like, yeah, you could reenter yourself or make it worse.
9:32But also you can heal up like it is.
9:35It does become sort of a matter of pain tolerance there.
9:38So I think they have to whether it's the smart decision.
9:41What's the alternative? I start to like, did you not see the video of Jacoby Lane watching the Ravens Falcons game?
9:47It was like he was like live streaming or he was taking a video of himself.
9:52He was cheering as to was coming in. He was like, oh, Kyle Hamilton.
9:56Watch this. Kyle Hamilton's going to pick him off.
9:59And then the first throw, Kyle Hamilton picks him off.
10:02And he's like, he called it. It is incredible, dude.
10:05Everybody watching that game knew that two of us was not going to get this team back into action.
10:10Just and it just goes to show, though, what kind of state the Falcons offense is so dependent on Michael Penix being healthy.
10:17Now you get the obviously positive matchup here. Like what is the cure for all rib injuries?
10:22It's facing the Chicago Bears defense that Seth told me about.
10:25Montez Sweat is apparently suspended, too. Like he wasn't even playing that well.
10:29But another pass rush. They had three more injuries last week in there.
10:33All three stages of their defensive line, secondary and one of their linebackers.
10:37I believe TJ Edwards also got hurt last week.
10:39So, I mean, Michael Penix, it's very possible that he could play the entire game and not take a single hit because
10:46that's how little teams should be concerned about with this Bears pass rush.
10:50So it may all be just blown out of proportion with this rib thing.
10:54But if Penix is good to go, man, like you should dice up this Bears defense that showed last week that, yeah,
11:00the first those other three games were probably just because they played bad offenses and not because they were actually turning the corner.
11:07And the Bears are who they thought the Bears are who we thought they were, essentially.
11:12Ah, good callback. I love it. Love it. Dennis Green.
11:15Yeah, man, if if if listen, if the Falcons can survive the Bears this upcoming week, the schedule gets rough, man.
11:21San Francisco 49ers the following week. And that could be if there's a team that's going to get pressure on the quarterback,
11:27the Niners, they may not be great stopping the run, but they can get pressure on the quarterback man.
11:33Like, that's just terrifying. The thought of these guys getting to to Michael Penix.
11:37I just if I'm a Falcons fan, like I'm watching every game with bated breath here.
11:42Like I am just. Before we get to our next storyline, I want to talk to you about.

12:30Now, we have some comments here in the chat.
12:32We can address some other questions here. We do have a super chat.
12:36So let's hit that from two wheels and a mic.
12:39PPR traded Isaiah likely for Hubbard. Have Trey McBride.
12:42Thanks. That's sick. Yes, that's a great trade. Anytime that I can get rid of a surplus at a position that only requires one.
12:49I feel great about that. I did get a running back right now, dude.
12:53Like there's not a lot of running backs that are actually healthy and good for you to have one that is both
12:59on an offense that looks like it's moving. That's a that's a hell of a win for two wheels and a mic.
13:06Like, I guess I'm actually curious about rest of season.
13:09Do you think that there's a chance? I mean, who has more fans points this year likely or McBride?
13:14I mean, because if the Cardinals turn to Carson Beck, which I could actually include as one of our storylines here, because
13:21I know that that's kind of been in the rumblings of, OK, like we've seen enough from Jacoby.
13:26Like we're ready to kind of turn it over because we want to lose more games because they probably don't have the franchise quarterback on this team anyway.
13:34What do you mean they've seen enough of him?
13:37Like, did they not know that Jacoby Brissett was not the franchise savior?
13:41I mean, they were selling us a bunch of other stuff.
13:44Be like, yeah, he can be our quarterback, blah, blah, blah.
13:47He's going to feel the offense. I mean, it wouldn't surprise me if likely outscores McBride rest of season potential.
13:53But either way, like you have a surplus, both elite tight ends.
13:57This is the smart move to make, especially getting someone like Chuba, who is just dude is so locked and loaded into
14:03this offense that are the Panthers a wagon? Are we there?
14:07Are we there? I mean, because I mean, they've been wagging so far.
14:10Bryce Young QB three. Kind of. Kind of, man.
14:13So they have had some easy opponents. I will say that like some of their opponents have been easy.
14:19And so there's a little bit of stat padding going on there.
14:22But like sometimes it's all an offense needs. It's just like get a little confidence under your belt and show that you
14:29can go out there, throw for 300 plus yards.
14:31You can throw for three touchdowns in a game.
14:34You can run all over teams. And like we're a season removed from Chuba being an absolute stud at the running back room there.
14:41And then last year, Rico Dowdle taking over. So it's not like this is new for this offense.
14:46They've had guys that can produce. And so the Panthers keep it up, man.
14:50Like that. I think it's a great trade and talking about like the tight ends likely in McBride.
14:56I think both offenses have their concerns, right? And I think the quarterback concerns are there for both of these guys.
15:02Like, do we think Jameis lasts the whole season and keeps throwing three touchdowns every game?
15:07Last week was the first time that Winston attempted 54 passes in a game and didn't throw an interception.
15:12Yeah, like it's it's it's great. Like I picked up Winston and I'm ready to start him this week against the Saints.
15:19I don't feel awesome about it, but like there's no guarantees that he starts the whole year either.
15:24Like we could be getting into fantasy playoff time and it's J.J.
15:27McCarthy, you know, throwing meatball subs to Malik neighbors.
15:30Yeah. What did you think about the J.J. McCarthy packages?
15:33We got a little glimpses of in that Giants game because he was taking a couple snaps with some like like RPO handoff things.
15:40And I'm like, is McCarthy becoming like they try to use the game?
15:44I'm like, taste some hell. I was like, wait, what?
15:47It was weird. I'm like, I guess they want to get him in the offense.
15:51But I don't look at McCarthy's like, dude, he's a weapon as a runner.
15:55I think what it is, is like they had a bunch of those Jackson dark plays drawn up.
16:01Oh, man, we can't use that part of the playbook anymore.
16:04Dang it. It's like it's like they probably tried it once with Jameis in practice and they were like, oh, no, no, don't do that.
16:11They were immediately like we should go trade for a quarterback that can kind of run, but not really run, but also not really pass either.
16:19You know, if you put the helmet on the right way, is that Jackson dart out there?
16:24It's good. You squint. You're like, it looks like Jackson dart.
16:27So, yeah, I thought that was kind of weird.
16:30Just like rewatching that game. I mean, like what?
16:33I was like, I had to do a double take.
16:35I'm like, wait, what's Jameis Winston's number again? And like, who is that?
16:39Taking snaps. And again, like neither play really resulted in anything.
16:43It looked like McCarthy's took a bunch of big hits again.
16:46Yeah. Let's get this injury prone quarterback hit more because he's taking direct handoffs and just like doing design run plays.
16:52But that's besides the point. Giants, I believe, are in first place in the NFC East.
16:57So that's so weird. A Giants team that's like not great if we're being for real and like doesn't have their starting quarterback in the first place.
17:05I think it's just a bad division. I do like how they have changed their defense since they lost Burns.
17:11They've now become like Brian Flores East where they're like, we're just going to blitz the crap out of it.
17:16I'm just like, we don't care. It's been so great for Arbel Reese, man.
17:21Yeah. It's actually been great for him. Like he looks awesome.
17:24Well, it's like, dude, like he was a player coming out that's like, yeah, this guy can really rush the passer.
17:30It's like sick, but we want to play off ball longbacker.
17:33Okay, well, let's have him blitz time. So we can do both.
17:37Is this not the perfect example of how coaches get in their own way?
17:41They just overthink things instead of just letting good players do what they are good at.
17:46Like this happens all the time. Like and see Kyle Williams go out and be like, oh, we're that guy's allowed to
17:52run deep and we can just throw it to him one on one against the corner.
17:57Like it doesn't make sense. We'll have to do an offseason show about this like one point, but it's crazy to us
18:03as observers when injuries force coaches to make like the right decisions where it's like, dude, I guess we got to make Jalen Warren bell cow.
18:11I guess we got to do it because Rico's hurt.
18:14And then like it just I don't know. It's crazy to me that it's like they just didn't figure this out in
18:20the first place when you have all this information to work with when we know how talented some of these guys are.
18:27But like now, like we got to keep training wheels on.
18:30I can't like we can't unleash Jalen Nolan. There's an injury and then we have to play our best players like, oh, no.
18:37It's like, God, super frustrating. Super frustrating, bro. Way to go NFL coaches.

20:17This is not just a podcast. It's a safe space where artists, executives and fans of R&B music come to reminisce.
20:23Pull back the curtain and tell the stories that shaped this culture, the real history behind the hits.
20:29That was hood famous. Yeah. And then Real Love came out and it blew up.
20:33We lived in a project. Yeah, and they're seeing all the success.
20:37They're hearing the music and we had nothing. We're covering the entire spectrum from Smokey Robinson, Alicia Keys, B2K, Mary J.
20:43Blige, legends, current stars and everyone who's contributed to the sound of R&B.
20:47You come out the gate with a hit. And then knock Michael Jackson out of number one.
20:52Come on, man. I was like, hold on. I'm not going to get MJ out of the number one spot.
20:57If you're a super dedicated R&B fan who wants the real discovery, the real stories, this is your podcast.
21:03This is the R&B Money Podcast. Listen to R&B Money from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
21:11All right. Speaking of super frustrating, Rashi Rice coming off the bye week.
21:15Not practicing. Never a good sign for a player that has always been hurt, has a hamstring injury and had a week to rehab and get healthier.
21:23Now, I don't think he was rehabbing in jail or prison this time.
21:27Like he was at the facility trying to get the treatment.
21:30But I am very, very suspect of him playing this week, next week, potentially, because it's one thing not practice on a Wednesday as like a veteran.
21:38It's usually like a rest day. But after a bye week, this is a pretty, pretty big red flag, Alfredo.
21:44Yeah, 100 percent. Like normally whenever you hear, OK, good, this player is his players hurt.
21:49At least we have the bye week coming up.
21:51He'll rest up and be good to go. Like you said, he's dealt with these same injuries over and over and over.
21:58He's I hate to use the word that he's prone to it, but you often see him get more soft tissue injuries.
22:04And it's it's actually less about like the person's body and more about how they treat their body.
22:10Like if he doesn't take stretching serious and mobility serious and all the things that he does, if he doesn't take those
22:16things serious, then yeah, like he's going to be more prone to having hamstring injuries.
22:20That's what we've seen. So the rumors keep heating up, man, that the Chiefs might be looking at Tyreek Hill after everything
22:27that went down with his court case. And I know a bunch of the other charges ended up being dropped and one of them wasn't.
22:34And he still could face suspension from the league.
22:37But then his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, came out today and said, like, we're still in contact with teams.
22:42Watch out. So it's like I don't think these two things are going to overlap where Rice is missing time and hell comes in.
22:49But I like I just don't feel great about the Chiefs receiving room.
22:53And maybe this could have been a Tyquan Thornton thing, but it's not now.
22:57Obviously, with him and his foot on the wrong way, it's just it's wheels up.
23:02Ken Walker still and Travis Kelsey. Yeah, that's it.
23:04Travis Kelsey off the bye week. This is one of the times he'll be extremely fresh as a 37 year old tight end.
23:11And I think he'll be ready to rock against the Chargers who are remain winless.
23:16One of the few winless teams left in the NFL joining the Dolphins.
23:19Titans and Titans, right? Yeah, we're doing it right.
23:22Losing games and trying hard. Oh, man. Speaking of doing it right, I got to tell you guys about this new prediction market called Polymarket.
23:29It's a stock exchange for sports, buying and selling out on your terms.
23:33When your team goes down 20 percent, you can buy and sell it off at 40 percent.
23:38And when they come back to double your money, they are so confident you'll never go back to the other guys.
23:44They're giving you a free twenty five dollars on your first trade when you deposit just ten bucks.
23:50And now they've launched a new feature, squads, a group chat where you can see what everyone is trading on.
23:56So download the Polly Market app today and use FPPod when you sign up.
24:00That's code FPPod to get twenty five dollars free after you deposit just ten dollars.
24:04All right. Sticking with the headlines. Caleb Williams. Estimated practice today.
24:07The Bears had a walkthrough on Wednesday. I love how they do this, right?
24:11It's like, well, if we did practice, he would be practicing full.
24:15But we did a walkthrough. It doesn't really count.
24:18Regardless, it seems like things are trending in the correct direction for Caleb Williams to play against the Atlanta Falcons.
24:23Again, going up against Michael Penix, who we talked about a little bit earlier.
24:28We've seen one full game of Caleb Williams. It was a lot of damage with his legs.
24:33They put up fifty nine points on the Carolina Panthers defense.
24:36We saw him limited against the Minnesota Vikings, but that's a game where it was rainy conditions.
24:41He got injured in and you can't really have any like declarative takeaways when you play the Vikings defense because of how
24:47blitz heavy Brian Flores is compared to every other defense.
24:50So really one game that we've seen from Caleb Williams in the third year, second year with Ben Johnson.
24:56What are your expectations for him? Again, kind of an interesting matchup against the Falcons.
25:00There were been really good against the run. Secondary, definitely not their strength, especially because they're down a lot of cornerbacks as well.
25:07So really interesting matchup, though, because two quarterbacks dealing with some injuries coming off of injuries between him and Penix.
25:13What are you looking forward to watching with this one?
25:16I actually kind of like that Caleb is coming off of an injury because it means he's probably a little less likely
25:22to run so frantically like he does. Like he's oftentimes just sort of bigger Kyler, the way he runs around and just
25:29he creates after the play is over, if that makes sense.
25:32Like they go into the huddle, they call the play.
25:35These are his reads. And then he looks at them and goes, I don't like it.
25:40And he just runs around. He's sort of like you ever see the movie Semi Pro with Will Ferrell, where they're like
25:46they're supposed to run the play and they throw them.
25:49They pass the ball to Will Ferrell and he's like, I don't like it.
25:53Back to you. And they just keep passing it back and forth.
25:57And like that's Caleb Williams. Like I said, Luther Burton, I don't like it.
26:01Back to me. Colton Lovell, I don't like it.
26:04He just keeps running. And so I kind of like that he's not going to be able to do that as much coming off the hamstring injury.
26:12What I'd love to see him change, though, is that the mustache.
26:15I need to I need him to grow the beard back.
26:18I don't I don't like the butt chin with the mustache.
26:22It's not a it's not a cute look for him.
26:24Yeah. I mean, was he trying to do the Ditka thing?
26:28I thought for a little bit like like, you know, obviously R.I.P.
26:31Mike Ditka. Like I thought that's what he was doing.
26:34I don't know if that's the case, then I'll allow it.
26:37I remember he dressed up as Ditka for Halloween last year wearing like the sweater.
26:42I mean, that get up is just so classic.
26:44I feel like he and Jalen Hurts go to the same barber.
26:48Like they just kind of do like the how can I look as goofy as possible?
26:53And I mean, again, we're doing these connections. The Bears recently did play the Eagles not that long ago.
26:58So it's possible. So it's possible. Caleb was like, hey, man, like who does your hair?
27:03Give me his number. Who lined me up? Oh, man.
27:06Let's get to some questions here before we get to our last storyline.
27:10Sal, if you just want to throw a bunch of them up that you have starred in the queue, we can just kind of rip through them.
27:18Kyle B6752. Good evening, gents. Good evening. Would you trade Scadaboo and Dak for Devante Smith?
27:22So mine, Smith, a bit on the low here.
27:25I like this deal in terms of just trying to get a receiver that you can buy on the cheap.
27:31If you feel good about your running back spot, what do you think, Alfredo?
27:35Yeah, I mean, I'm not typically an advocate of trading for a quarterback, but when I can trade one away as a
27:42throw in, I kind of like that. I don't have a lot of confidence in Scadaboo going forward.
27:47And even though the confidence right now is semi low comparatively with Devante Smith, it's like where it was still a top tier player.
27:54He's going to get a lot of the targets in this.
27:57And the schedule gets significantly easier for the Eagles in terms of both quarterback and receiver strength of schedule for fantasy.
28:03So we're going to see the passing attack probably get better, especially if we're looking at injuries across the running back room there.
28:10Saquon Barkley might be back this week, but he didn't practice today.
28:14So the Eagles might just be forced to keep passing the ball and getting the ball out quick, especially with this offensive line.
28:20So Devante Smith getting easy targets. Sign me up.
28:23Yeah, the Eagles kind of feel like they've hit rock bottom and I think it's just where they can really only go up at this point.
28:31Like who else can they lose? Right? Like they've already lost all their pieces.
28:35The offensive line is in shambles, like, and eventually Barkley will come back to a full blown workload because there's no other
28:41running back on the roster that is healthy. You know, Damian and then Devante Smith, right?
28:46Like none of these guys have really stepped up and had high end target shares have been super productive.
28:52So Smith will be back in that wide receiver one role in Scadaboom, right?
28:56Maybe doesn't look nearly as explosive or like the same guy he was before his injury last year, which was always a
29:02red flag or a caution flag with him just because coming off these brutal injuries, some of these running backs with some of that explosiveness.
29:10So let's get the next question here. Sal PBR one, a wide receiver two to pair with JSN trade Mike Evans slash Woody marks four.
29:17Ooh, this is I. I think Evans is your wide receiver, too, man.
29:21Like, I think you've got a guy who when I was charting Brock Purdy, I'm just like he is constantly looking Mike Evans way.
29:28And now you've got another injury to the wide receiver room.
29:31There were Devo Samuels missing time. They're going to Brandon Cooks, who like they just signed a couple weeks ago and asking
29:38him to jump into a big role. Like Mike Evans is their guy.
29:41Unless you're worried he's going to get injured or something like that.
29:45Mike Evans is, I think, a top 15 fantasy wide receiver at the moment.
29:49Yeah. And he's playing the commanders this week. So I do think Mike Evans is a potential sell high candidate just based
29:56on his age, injury history, plays on the 49ers that always get hurt.
29:59But that being said, if you are OK with taking on that risk, he's a top six play for me this week because he's facing the commanders.
30:07Dude, Mike Sanders still dude. That guy cannot cover anybody.
30:10He is a turnstile. And it's wild, too, because like we will we will see that week after week after week and
30:17NFL coaches see it week after week after week and they keep targeting him.
30:21And then the commander is just like, you know who we should start a corner this week?
30:26That same guy. Let's just do it again. Yeah, he can't.
30:29He can't stop anybody. I would say in terms of Woody Marks as a player, you could potentially flip again.
30:35Now it projected bell cow. Really bad matchup this week.
30:38I think a player that you could go for is Luther Burden.
30:41Some of these Bears catchers. I'm good trading away Woody Marks, man, because you got a bad matchup this week.
30:47You got a buy coming up as well. And then you're probably getting Dave Montgomery back.
30:52And we go back to even if Woody Marks is the one a now in that situation, we're still going back to a split backfield.
30:59So I'd love to buy low on Luther Burden.
31:02You actually listen to two guys. Luther Burden was my buy low in my article and Woody Marks was my sell high.
31:09I love that. Yeah, we talked about it as well.
31:11When trade show myself and where I'm on the Fanny Spro's feed, he had Woody Marks to sell high and I had
31:18Luther Burden as my my buy low again. We'll see a potentially different Bears passing game with Caleb Williams back in the fold.
31:25And I think that there's an opportunity to buy before we actually see it.
31:29Luther Burden has been the target leader through five games with the three different quarterbacks that have played for Chicago.
31:35So like how he's been deployed by Ben Johnson.
31:37Let's keep going with questions, Sal. Killer Lee, 769 or 7, 9, 6, 4.
31:41Newbie here in a male dominated 10 team PPR league.
31:44I have Shuck, Bryce Young, Marks, Krosky Merritt, et cetera.
31:47The rest of the roster is there. Any advice for this person?
31:51So we just talked about Woody Marks as a sell.
31:54Maybe he's a player that you could potentially flip.
31:56I like that as an angle here. I also have Krosky Merritt as a sell high right now because even though he
32:03got the touchdown in the long run, it was still, I believe, a 35% snap share, one of his lowest of the season.
32:10And it's just the commanders are showing. They're like, OK, let's cut the rookie we drafted.
32:14Let's go sign Austin Eckler. Like we just don't have any confidence in their running back room right now.
32:20And Rashad White's getting all the goal line touches, all the two minute drill touches, all of the third down snaps, everything.
32:27So yeah, I'm trading away Marks. I'm trading away Krosky Merritt.
32:30I want to rebuild that running back room a little bit.
32:33You got Javante there who's good. I'd probably try to move some combination of those running backs and maybe Addison or Ibuka.
32:39I think maybe even cash in right now on Emmanuel Wilson, who you could start, but there's an expiration date there.
32:46So I think a lot of your running backs are good where you could start them right now.
32:51But some have expiration dates. Others, you know, sell high moments here where I'm a little uncomfortable.
32:56But I like the wide receiver room. Jefferson, Olave, Ibuka's a wide receiver three is fine.
33:01I'm in the process. I've just traded Ibuka for Romandre.
33:04Oh, yeah, that's a good trade. I definitely will co-sign on that.
33:07Does Dan Quinn make it through the Commanders bye week as the head coach of the Commanders?
33:12They are playing the 49ers on the road on Monday night football, and then they're going to bye after that.
33:18Is he still the head coach of the Commanders if they get absolutely curb stomped?
33:22Man, this sucks because I don't think it's Dan Quinn's fault.
33:26I think a good coach is going to get fired.
33:29And that'd be nuts for Dan Quinn to get fired at the same time or before someone from the Chargers.
33:35Well, I mean, they do play on Monday night.
33:37So it's intense. One of the Chargers coaches should get.
33:40I mean, Mike McDaniel is probably. Who gets fired first?
33:43If we're doing this like I know we're not applauding or celebrating it, but it seems very likely that one of these guys don't make it.
33:51And like, I hate that this thing is getting thrown on Dan Quinn.
33:55I hate that. It's like. I understand, like, you're the coach, right?
33:58And you you take a certain amount of responsibility for the way that game ended.
34:02You got it. You telling me that not a single person on the microphone and the headsets was saying we don't have any timeouts.
34:10We got to do something here. And like all the interviews have been.
34:13Yeah, the understanding is you throw that ball away if if it's not there.
34:17There's no circumstance in which the quarterback should run slide and not have enough time to set up a spike for the field goal.
34:25Like that's it's it's equally on Jaden Daniels. Like I'm starting to see the things here, too, where.
34:30Teammates didn't exactly take a knee when he was hurt.
34:33There's a lot of weird locker room talk that he's not a well-liked guy over there.
34:38LSU, like his alma mater is trashing him weekly.
34:40I mean, I'd hate to see it, man. But yeah, I don't I don't know that Dan Quinn makes it out of the bye week.
34:48Yeah, it's it's it's rough scene for the commanders.
34:50That's kind of why I listed in my article that commanders up and down the border just kind of sells even Jane Daniels.
34:57Right. Where doctors that have looked at this injury, not necessarily examine Jane Daniels, but have said this is like a ticking
35:03time bomb where it's not a matter of if he gets re-injured.
35:07It's a matter of when he gets re-injured. He got sacked five times last week.
35:11Like so. I watched every single one of those just like kind of.
35:15Yeah, right. You get cringing and like watching. How did he go down on that one?
35:20OK, his you know what he's doing, though, too, is like he's being very particular about not putting his arm out to
35:26try to keep himself up like he is tucking everything in and just sort of falling to the side.
35:32And I mean, that works while you're planning for it.
35:35But then there's going to be one of these times where he gets hit and won't be able to plan for it.
35:41Yeah, so scary situation for the commanders long term.
35:44But let's get to a couple last questions here before we wrap it up.
35:48Sal, let's rip these. JK420, yo, yo, what do you think about a trade of Drake London and DJ Moore for Amon Ra and Devante Smith?
35:56Yes. Now do it immediately. Yes, I am co-signing on that.
35:59Do it. I'm going because I'm going Amon Ra over Drake London and I'm going Devante Smith over DJ Moore.
36:05Love it. I have no qualms with this. JK420.
36:08Better call, Bob. Do you guys think with the play of Drake May at the current moment, will they be able to catch the Bills for the division?
36:16I look, I mean, the Patriots won the division last year.
36:19I think they're probably going to split. So even though the Patriots beat Buffalo, Buffalo will probably beat the Patriots in New England.
36:26Just kind of have these things roll. So. I mean, Bill's defense is a major problem.
36:31Like. That's got to get fixed. So. Yeah, and I'm looking forward.
36:34So like. Bill's got the Raiders this week, which I think Bill's probably pulled that one out.
36:39Then a bye week. Then they've got Baltimore, Minnesota.
36:42Those are some tough games. Then they get a little.
36:45They get some some cupcakes, you know, with Miami.
36:47They got Kansas City and they play New England like the Bills have a relatively tough schedule looking through the rest of this season here for them.
36:55And Patriots. I know their schedule is also a bit harder this year.
36:59I'm pulling that up right now. Patriots look like they can catch up.
37:03They got the Jets, the Bears with a fresh kit with with Caleb Williams getting like reintegrated not as a fresh and then Miami.
37:10Like we can see the Patriots win the next three games here and be like semi back in the driver's seat.
37:16Yeah, Patriots shaky to kind of open the season.
37:19But as we've seen with a lot of these teams, it's really more about how you hit your stride weeks four, five,
37:25six, and not necessarily weeks one through three when a lot of these teams are treating it as an extension of the preseason.
37:32Right. Even in like the Tom Brady era, there were a lot of games where early on in the season, the Patriots didn't necessarily look like themselves.
37:40They would start two and two or something along those lines.
37:43And then they would hit their stride and win, you know, 10, 11, 12, 13 games in a row and be, you
37:50know, the number one seed in the AFC. So Patriots, I think peaking at a good time, obviously Buffalo coming off that
37:56monster game against the Los Angeles rim, Josh Allen, James, like just absolutely insane what Josh Allen is able to do with his legs.
38:03But that defense does need to get fixed and help because right now I think in terms of EPA per play allowed,
38:10they're like handholding with the Dallas Cowboys. And like that, like that is like, that is really, really bad.
38:15Dude, I feel like it's going to come down to those final weeks and the Bills play the Dolphins in week 17
38:22and then the Jets in week 18 and the Patriots play the Dolphins in week 18.
38:27So like, I feel like it's going to be that one game where it's like, all right, week 18 to decide who wins the AFC East.
38:34Then it's going to be the Patriots just putting the smack down on the Dolphins that week to take the AFC East again.
38:41The Dolphins have to make sure they lock and load the number one overall pick next year.
38:46Oh, yeah. We'll see where the Chargers and Titans are at that point in terms of wins and losses.
38:52Get ready for some Kyle McCord, baby. Oh, yeah, right.
38:54They're going to be like, we're not even going to try this.
38:58We're taking Blake Willis out. We're putting all the backups in.
39:01We need to lose this game no matter what.
39:04So, yeah, that should be a dub for the Patriots.
39:07So that's going to wrap it up for us here on the tailgate.
39:11Thanks for watching and hanging out with us. But again, as a reminder, we have a postgame tailgate stream after Thursday night football after tomorrow's game.

39:50You have to punch back. No, Mike. You got to switch to Boost with a plan that's $25 a month forever.
39:56Oh, that's a great plan. Maybe you can do both.
39:59Boost Mobile. What's your plan? What if one bottle could replace the benefits of eight steps in your skincare routine?
