A.J. Brown

NegativeInjury0:00

The Patriots opened A.J. Brown's practice window, indicating he is eligible to return from injured reserve and begin practicing with the team.

Insight page
NegativeInjury12:05

Patriots opened the 21-day practice window for A.J. Brown to return from a high ankle sprain suffered in the season-opening loss to the Seahawks. Listed as a limited participant in practice with heavily taped ankle; head coach Mike Vrabel was noncommittal on availability, stating they would assess by end of week.

Insight page

Baker Mayfield

NegativeInjury0:36

Mayfield suffered a thumb injury in week three against Minnesota and remains in the early window for return. Despite his desire to play this week against Pittsburgh, he did not practice and a return is closer to a long shot than a sure thing. The source reported it was a three-week minimum injury, potentially longer, making this week's return unlikely.

Insight page
PositiveProjection9:55

The source notes that when Baker Mayfield returns from injury, the Buccaneers team is expected to suddenly be in contention, implying his return will meaningfully improve the team's playoff prospects and offensive performance.

Insight page

Bo Nix

NegativeMatchup28:09

Bo Nix and the Broncos face a tough Seattle defense on Thursday night; Denver's offense has struggled with Sean Payton back at play-calling, posting down numbers across the board in Week 1 against the Chargers, and will need to show improvement at home.

Insight page

Braelon Allen

PositiveUsage27:13

Braelon Allen, the Jets backup running back, performed as a workhorse with 24 carries against the Browns and powered the team to a victory last week. With Breece Hall's quad injury trending toward another missed game, Allen is positioned for continued heavy usage.

Insight page

Breece Hall

NegativeInjury26:52

Breece Hall has a quad injury and is considered week-to-week. If he misses this week, it would be his third straight game missed. He did not practice today, trending toward him not playing this week.

Insight page

Brock Bowers

PositiveRole22:43

Brock Bowers fits the role of a key playmaker for the Raiders against the Bills; all eyes will be on him as the Raiders attempt to stop a two-game slide, with the source highlighting his importance to the team's offensive production.

Insight page

Caleb Williams

NegativeInjury0:08

Caleb Williams returned to the practice field for the Bears, though the source notes that his return to practice does not guarantee he will play in the upcoming game.

Insight page
PositiveInjury3:00

Caleb Williams worked closer to the practice field and playing field than expected early in the week; he's listed as a full participant at walkthrough practice, which is an encouraging sign tracking toward his return. Originally a three to four week hamstring injury, he's missed three games and Sunday's return is very much in play against Atlanta.

Insight page

CeeDee Lamb

PositiveInjury11:09

Returned to full practice participation after suffering a quad contusion in the Cowboys' Thursday night loss to the Buccaneers. With extra time off before Sunday night's matchup against Green Bay, the belief within the organization is that Lamb should be good to go and not limited by the injury.

Insight page

D'Andre Swift

NegativeUsage41:53

Carried ball nine times for 43 yards with one rushing touchdown against Green Bay. For second straight week was non-existent non-factor in second half, though Ben Johnson said this wasn't injury-related. Had hip injury last week but was full go during walkthrough this week and anticipated to remain healthy going forward.

Insight page

Darius Cooper

PositiveBreakout27:15

Darius Cooper is emerging as a receiving option for the Eagles. Jalen Hurts name-checked Cooper during training camp as an emerging player, and Cooper has continued to emerge during the regular season as well, providing an alternative target in the absence of DeVonta Smith.

Insight page

DeVonta Smith

NegativeRole33:27

DeVonta Smith has been absent from the Eagles offense for the last couple of weeks, which is hurting the team's offensive production and Jalen Hurts' ability to execute the passing game effectively.

Insight page

Drake Maye

PositiveRole12:07

Drake May has felt A.J. Brown's impact even in his absence; head coach Mike Vrabel praised May's professionalism, noting his attentiveness to detail, care for teammates, and engagement watching games, describing him as a great teammate.

Insight page
PositiveProjection24:33

Drake May has rekindled the form that made him an MVP runner-up a year ago, leading the Patriots to the Super Bowl. Over his last couple of weeks, his team has averaged over 37 points per game with May scoring eight touchdowns on offense, demonstrating sustained high-level performance.

Insight page

Fernando Mendoza

NegativeDepth Chart23:12

Fernando Mendoza made his NFL debut last week and could be part of a full transition at quarterback for the Raiders depending on how the team performs; the source says the Raiders are not yet in a window to accelerate Mendoza's role, but that could change if the team loses another game and falls below .500. The source expects the Raiders to want to see Mendoza in some capacity by season's end.

Insight page

George Holani

NegativeRole27:47

George Helani will provide secondary support in the Seahawks' backfield on Thursday against Denver, as Seattle looks to improve its run game.

Insight page

Jadarian Price

NegativeInjury27:05

Jadarian Price has been out, and his absence has contributed to the Seahawks' struggling run game heading into Thursday night against Denver.

Insight page

Jalen Hurts

NegativeProjection33:22

Jalen Hurts has struggled in the second half of the season, completing just over 53% of passes during that stretch. The Eagles have gone three and out on 15 of 29 drives in the second half, indicating offensive inefficiency. Hurts needs to run the offense as designed to generate throwing opportunities for his receivers.

Insight page

Jalon Daniels

PositiveRole0:36

With Baker Mayfield sidelined by a thumb injury, Jalen Daniels continues as the Buccaneers' starting quarterback. Todd Bowles did not close the door on Mayfield's return but indicated nothing has changed and Daniels, who has played well, will continue in the role. Daniels engineered a victory over the Cowboys in week five.

Insight page

Jaylen Warren

PositiveRole49:11

Has emerged as the bell cow for Steelers run game that's really come to life lately. Steelers now have a balanced offensive attack with Warren running the ball, offensive line blocking well, and multiple receiving threats. He catches the ball out of backfield, and defenses haven't been able to load the box against him. Faces big test against Bucs, who are really good at stopping the run despite their record, but Steelers appear up for the challenge especially at Raymond James.

Insight page

Kirk Cousins

NegativeProjection22:54

Kirk Cousins has just three touchdowns over the last two weeks as the Raiders have lost both games; the source indicates the Raiders are at a potential inflection point where a continued losing streak could accelerate the timeline for Fernando Mendoza to enter the game, though the current focus remains on Cousins.

Insight page

Lamar Jackson

NegativeInjury0:39

Lamar Jackson did not return to practice on Monday as the Ravens prepare for the Browns; Ravens head coach Jesse Monken indicated it's day-to-day and acknowledged that a player of Lamar's caliber could potentially play Sunday without practicing two straight weeks. Adam Schefter reports there's still a realistic chance Lamar Jackson returns from his ankle injury for Sunday's game in Cleveland, noting the organization felt he could have played against the Falcons last week before ultimately holding him out. Schefter indicated the team feels mildly encouraged about his availability, with Thursday or Friday practice participation being an encouraging sign.

Insight page
NegativeInjury49:42

Did not play last week and did not practice today; availability for weekend matchup against Cleveland is uncertain. Ravens keeping close eye on his status for AFC North battle.

Insight page

Marvin Harrison Jr.

NegativeRole0:22

Marvin Harrison Jr., the newest Texan, was at practice for the first time in Houston; the source previews details on his potential debut with the team.

Insight page

Michael Penix Jr.

PositiveInjury0:06

Penix returned to practice after a bruised rib suffered against Baltimore; MRI showed nothing serious. He made every throw in practice and reported feeling good to go. Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski indicated that barring setbacks this week, Penix will be ready to start Sunday against Chicago.

Insight page
PositiveMatchup0:49

Penix has a significant matchup advantage against Chicago's struggling deep pass defense. The Bears have allowed 12 passes of 20+ yards in the air (most in the league), while Penix has completed 5 of 6 passes of 20+ yards with a perfect passer rating, one touchdown, and no interceptions in those situations.

Insight page
PositiveInjury6:00

Michael Penix Jr. was a full participant in practice after a rib injury kept him from finishing Sunday's loss to Baltimore; head coach Kevin Stefanski expects him to start and Penix reported feeling positive and improving daily.

Insight page

Parker Washington

NegativeRole21:00

Parker Washington has clearly become the Jaguars' wide receiver one after betting on himself and declining a three-year, $75 million extension in the Michael Wilson range; he showed it last week against the Eagles with two touchdowns including a big fourth-and-five slot fade, and the source expects him to command $30-35 million in the next offseason. At 5'10", he's the Jaguars' go-to tough guy over the middle of the field against the Texans' Will Anderson and Derrick Stingley Jr., and he thrives in primetime settings.

Insight page

Patrick Mahomes

PositiveProjection30:27

Patrick Mahomes is on 99 wins in 130 career starts and has a chance to win his 100th game in his 131st start, which would tie him with Tom Brady for the fewest starts prior to a 100th win amongst quarterbacks since 1950.

Insight page
PositiveProjection30:41

Mahomes is on pace to win his 100th game in his 131st start, which would tie him with Tom Brady for the fewest starts prior to 100th win amongst quarterbacks since 1950. He expressed that the bye week gives him time to rest his knee, reset, and reevaluate before moving forward with the right mindset.

Insight page

Rachaad White

NegativeRole27:55

Rashaad White will be the primary back for Seattle on Thursday against Denver with help from George Helani; White fumbled last week and has been working on ball security in practice, with scout team defenders instructed to punch at the ball to help him improve his handling.

Insight page

Rashee Rice

NegativeInjury27:28

Rasheed Rice, Chiefs wide receiver, missed another practice due to a hamstring injury and is unlikely to play Sunday against the Chargers. He has already missed a game and is now missing the opening week of practice, which is not an encouraging sign for his availability. The injury occurred against the Raiders when he grabbed his hamstring.

Insight page

Sam Darnold

NegativeUsage27:28

Sam Darnold threw two interceptions in last week's game and the Seahawks need to take pressure off him by improving their run game and establishing a secondary playmaker alongside JSN to reduce his passing load.

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

NegativeInjury10:09

Held out of practice with a hamstring injury ahead of the Eagles-Panthers matchup. While the door remains open for a return this week, the DNP makes it harder to imagine both Barkley and Devante Smith returning; Barkley must progress from side field work to team drills Thursday into Friday to have a realistic chance.

Insight page

Tyler Huntley

PositiveRole0:49

Tyler Huntley started in place of Lamar Jackson against the Falcons in week five and won the game, demonstrating he can execute the Ravens' offense in Jackson's absence.

Insight page

Tyson Bagent

NegativeRole5:00

Tyson Bagent struggled enough in the game against Green Bay Packers that he was ultimately benched for Case Keenum, signaling his inability to hold the starting role and the Bears' preference to move on from him.

Insight page

Zach Charbonnet

PositiveRole27:21

Seattle is hoping to get Zach Charbonnet back relatively soon to improve their run game, which has struggled especially since Jadarian Price has been out. His return would provide a boost to the Seahawks' ground attack.

1:08Ahead on the insiders, QBs on the men, Lamar Jackson on the practice field for the Ravens.
1:13Same for Caleb Williams and the Bears. Doesn't mean both will play.
1:17The Texans and Jaguars will play in the final game of the London leg of the International Series.
1:22Details on the potential debut of the newest Texan, Marvin Harrison Jr.
1:26at practice for the first time in Houston. Hello, everybody.
1:29Welcome to the insiders presented by Progressive Insurance. Along with our insiders, Adam Schefter, Judy Batista, Mike Garofalo.
1:35I am Rhett Lewis. And as friends, let's begin in Owings Mills, Maryland.
1:39Where after missing the week five win over the Falcons with an ankle injury, Lamar Jackson did not return to practice today
1:46as the Ravens prepare for the Browns in Cleveland on Sunday.
1:49Ravens head coach Jesse Mentor trying to stay patient through the process.
1:53It's definitely day to day. You know, I think a lot of times those things right when they happen, you're not sure.
2:00And as you gather information, you look at stuff.
2:03But again, like to Lamar's credit, he's working his butt off.
2:06He's doing everything he can to be out here.
2:09And when he's able to be, then he will.
2:12Could he go the week without practicing two straight weeks and still play Sunday?
2:16You know, again, there is a level of player that is able to do that.
2:21And he certainly falls into that category. Okay, Adam, where do things stand right now with Lamar's availability for this Sunday?
2:28Well, Rhett, not a great start to the practice week with Lamar Jackson not practicing today.
2:33But I'm told there's still a realistic chance that Lamar Jackson is going to be out there.
2:38Now, there were people in the organization last week that felt like Lamar Jackson would go and play Sunday night against the Falcons.
2:45And ultimately, they held him out and ruled him out on Friday.
2:49And he didn't play. Tyler Huntley did and won the game.
2:52But again, I think the feeling now is going to Cleveland Sunday that there's a realistic chance that Lamar Jackson will be
2:59able to return from that ankle injury. Let's see if he practices Thursday or Friday.
3:04If he does, that would be an encouraging sign.
3:07But I think that they feel mildly encouraged he'll be out there.
3:11Yeah, he had worked his way sort of closer to the field last week to the practice field and the playing field
3:18than maybe some people expected earlier in the week.
3:20Just not quite to the point where he was comfortable and they were comfortable with where he is.
3:26So that process is continuing here. He's got to get on the field.
3:30I shouldn't say he has to because Jesse Minters made it clear.
3:34He made it clear last week. This is one of the rare guys that could play without practicing, but they need to
3:41start seeing some progress as they get through the weeks.
3:44Adam's right. There's still a possibility or a hopefulness.
3:47I should say that he's going to be ready to go.
3:50Let's see the progress if there is some tomorrow.
3:53Okay, let's get to Chicago who's gone two and one in the three games.
3:57Caleb Williams is missed as he recovers from the hamstring injury, but things are looking up for a return on Sunday as
4:04the Bears travel to Atlanta to battle the Falcons.
4:07Bears head coach Ben Johnson assessing all the variables involved in the QB decision.
4:12In regards to the quarterback situation, a lot of things have gone through our minds and first and foremost, health is the
4:18number one priority for all three guys. I don't know that any of them are exactly 100% at this point of the season.
4:26And so that's something that we certainly look at.
4:28And we want whoever's out there to have a good rapport with the offensive line, with the operation, with our pass catchers.
4:35And so we want to make sure that we can get in a rhythm, which we weren't able to do last week as an offense.
4:43And so, sure, it all goes into account here.
4:46What do we need to do first and foremost for this week?
4:50And then big picture view beyond that. Do you expect the boxes to check for Caleb?
4:55Are you preparing and planning for him to be quarterback on Sunday or is it truly fluid right now?
5:01Yeah, it's still fluid. But, you know, I feel good about the plan that we have in place at this point.
5:07Adam, Caleb was a full participant today, but it was more of a walkthrough.
5:12What does that tell us about how close Caleb is to returning?
5:16Well, right, I think we could look to Sunday for when the die really feels like it was cast.
5:22If you watch the pregame warmups, Caleb Williams was out on the field moving very well on Sunday before the game against the Green Bay Packers.
5:30And then during the game, Tyson Bajan struggled enough that he was ultimately benched for Case Keenum.
5:35And then today, the Bears listed Caleb Williams as a full participant at the walkthrough.
5:40Now, granted, just a walkthrough, but the fact that he was listed full is an encouraging sign in a way that it
5:47feels like it is developing and tracking for Caleb Williams to return to the lineup.
5:51When he first suffered that hamstring injury, it was thought to be a three to four week injury.
5:57He's missed three games. They lost Sunday. They need him back.
6:01It certainly feels like Sunday is very much in play.
6:04Okay, Adam, I'm liking the trend here for these starting quarterbacks.
6:07And it looks like it might continue with Michael Penix in Atlanta was a full participant in practice today after the rib
6:14injury Sunday kept him from finishing the loss to Baltimore on Sunday night.
6:18Head coach Kevin Stefanski said he expects Penix to start and Mike is feeling positive.
6:23They're good again better every day. I felt good today at practice.
6:27And, you know, I know I'm going to continue to feel good.
6:30I just got to stay on top of my rehab and just make sure I'm doing all the right things.
6:37Is it a bruised rib or what exactly is it?
6:40Yeah, not going to get too much in detail on it.
6:43But I will say like MRI and all the scanning and stuff like that was positive.
6:48So we're good and I feel good to go this week.
6:52So that's the plan. Do you have any pain when you're out there?
6:56Any pain? It's not always comfortable, but I made every throw today.
7:00So you take with that what you want. Come on, no pain, no gain, Adam.
7:04You know this. It seems like things are trending in the right direction, though, for Penix.
7:09Yeah. Yeah, right. Today, the Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski said that barring any setbacks this week at practice, they believe that
7:16Michael Penix will be ready to go. And you heard him say right there he was able to make all the throws,
7:23the types of throws that he couldn't if he had stayed in the game in overtime after taking that big blow against the Baltimore Ravens.
7:31But they took him to the MRI. The MRI showed nothing serious.
7:35He's back on the practice field today. And Atlanta needs him back on Sunday to have this offense operating the way it
7:42has when he's been at the helm. And the belief right now within the organization is that Michael Penix will start Sunday against Chicago.
7:49Well, we've seen the way the offense operates when Michael Penix is out there.
7:54But there is also an X factor when they face the Bears about why you would want Michael Penix out there, because
8:00what he does so well is what the Bears are struggling with right now.
8:05The Bears defense is really struggling defending the deep pass.
8:08We just watched Jordan Love absolutely attack deep over and over again.
8:12They have given up 12 passes that travel at least 20 yards in the air.
8:16That's the most in the league so far. Michael Penix, he's completed five of six passes that have traveled over 20 yards in the air.
8:24He's got a perfect quarterback rating on those kinds of passes.
8:28One touchdown, no interception. So that is a real advantage for the Falcons among all of the advantages that Michael Penix brings when he's on the field.
8:36All right, let's get to Tampa where Baker Mayfield is still in the very early side of that window to return from
8:43the thumb injury suffered in the week three loss to the Vikings.
8:47And despite his desires to make a return this week, Mayfield did not practice today as the Bucks get ready for the Steelers.
8:54Mike, is it a long shot at this point for Baker to make his return this week?
9:00I would say it's, yeah, closer to a long shot than it is a sure thing here.
9:05He's trying his best and he's trying to show them that he can do things with that thumb.
9:10We thought and we heard that it was a three week minimum.
9:14In fact, Adam reported it could potentially be a longer than that.
9:18So for him to return this week just does not seem feasible.
9:22He's got to be able to operate completely and squeeze the football as much as he possibly can.
9:27They're going to allow him to try to do as much as he can to show them what he can do.
9:34But it's looking like Jalen Daniels is going to continue to be the guy for the Buccaneers.
9:39Todd Bowles didn't close the doors door on it.
9:42But if you listen to his press conference and read between the lines, he made it sound like nothing has really changed
9:49and it's going to be Daniels who's played well.
9:52And the hope is he continues to play well.
9:55And then Baker comes back and this team is suddenly in contention.
9:59Yeah, Daniels helping engineer a victory over the Cowboys in week five.
10:02OK, Eagles trying to get back on track at home this week hosting the Panthers, but still working through some key injuries,
10:09especially on the offensive side of the ball with Saquon Barkley and Devante Smith held out of practice today, both with those hamstring injuries.
10:17Mike, do the DNPs today make it harder to imagine a return for both these guys this week?
10:22A little bit, but I was told to leave the door open here and Devante Smith was doing some work on the side.
10:30And I know that coming into the week and Nick Sirianni even said this himself at his press conference the other day, and he never comments on injuries.
10:38He was saying that he was hopeful that he was going to get some of these guys back.
10:44So the hope was they were going to get one, if not two of these guys back.
10:49Now Barkley's got to get on the field and start to make some things happen as they get through practice Thursday into Friday.
10:57I have to go up from working on a side field to working with the team.
11:02But again, the door's still open for these guys to return.
11:05Let's see their progress as we get deeper into the week.
11:09Also in the NFC, CeeDee Lamb, as you remember, suffered a quad contusion and the Cowboys lost to the Bucks on Thursday
11:15Night Football, but is back practicing with the team today.
11:19A full participant ahead of the Sunday night tilt with the Green Bay Packers.
11:23Adam, is there any sense that this is going to be something that might limit CeeDee Lamb as we go into this weekend?
11:30Not when he's a full participant in practice today, Red.
11:33He has had extra time off with the Cowboys playing last Thursday night.
11:37He was listed as full and the belief within the organization is that CeeDee Lamb should be good to go on Sunday
11:44night against the Green Bay Packers in a game the Dallas Cowboys have to have.
11:49They're trying to bounce back after a difficult loss at home when they lost CeeDee Lamb there briefly.
11:55But even with that quad bruise, he was full today and he's expected to be full Sunday night.
12:00Staying on the receiver front, the Patriots opened up the 21-day practice window for A.J.
12:05Brown to return from the high ankle sprain suffered in his Patriots debut, which was the season opening loss to the Seahawks.
12:12Drake May has felt A.J.'s impact though even in the absence.
12:15He's a pro. I think you can see by the way he carries himself, by the way he cares about players.
12:22And he's always been impressed. You can kind of see with how close he's watching the games and the little things he picks up on.
12:30You can tell he's really watching and cares. Just a great teammate from what I've experienced here with him.
12:36And he's just, you know, he's looking forward to getting back.
12:39And I know he's just, you got a big smile.
12:42He's got a contagious smile. And it's good seeing that in the locker room.
12:47And, you know, I enjoy being near it every day.
12:50Judy, Mike Vrabel, head coach there in New England.
12:53Somewhat noncommittal on A.J. Brown's availability here moving forward through the window.
12:57What's your understanding of the plan? Yeah, Mike Vrabel basically said, well, we'll have to see.
13:02We'll see what it looks like by the end of the week.
13:05A.J. Brown was out there. He was listed as a limited participant today.
13:09I think you can maybe see on here his ankle was really taped up heavily.
13:14He was going through some of the activities from what the reporters were allowed to film here.
13:20We couldn't see all that much. But certainly a good sign that he is back out on the field.
13:25This would be kind of on the early side of returning for a high ankle sprain.
13:31And again, Mike Vrabel said, well, let's see how the week goes.
13:34Certainly they would love to get him out there.
13:37I go back to having seen him and Drake May working together during training camp where Drake May was throwing him pass
13:44after pass after pass, establishing that connection and that chemistry.
13:47They already had great chemistry in the summer. And the Patriots just haven't gotten the benefit of all of that work because A.J.
13:54got hurt in week one. Drake May has righted himself after a rocky start those first few weeks.
14:00He's righted himself without A.J. Brown. So it will certainly be a bonus when they get their number one receiver back on the field.
14:08Injuries abound across the league. A look at some others to keep an eye on here as we head into week six.
14:14Obviously, Thursday night football is nearly upon us. Jackson Smith and Jigba for the Seahawks dealing with the ankle ailment as Seattle
14:21travels to Denver on Thursday night to battle the Broncos.
14:25A bunch of wide receiver injuries to keep an eye on as well.
14:29All right. Still to come here on the insiders.
14:31The Raiders came sprinting out of the blocks this season, winning their first three, but have since lost back to back and
14:38now welcome the bills to Vegas inside the challenge of avoiding a three game skid for Kirk Cousins and the silver and black just ahead.
14:46The Texans defense got back on track last week with D'Amico Ryans taking over play calling, albeit against the winless Titans inside
14:53though the tall task of dealing with Parker Washington and the Jags next.
14:57I'm Brett Coleman and I'm Trevor Sikama. Have you ever watched a game and wondered what really made the difference beyond the final score?
15:05That's exactly why we created NFL pro. Every week we use exclusive next gen stats, insights and NFL content to break down

16:04The new NFL season is here and you should be listening to NFL daily as we march along to Super Bowl 61.
16:11Last year, we had Mike McDonald, Sam Darnold on the field after the game.
16:16But that was last year. If you're a football sicko like me, NFL daily is your kind of show.
16:22It is in the name NFL daily fresh content in your feed every day, all season long.
16:27Matthew Stafford coming off his MVP season. On a dazzling dark from Matthew Stafford.
16:31Big time trades that shake up the NFL. AJ Brown is loose.
16:35And of course, those Seahawks trying to run it back and win another Lombardi trophy.
16:40The Seahawks win Super Bowl 60. They are bringing the Lombardi back to the Northwest.
16:45If it's happening on a football field, NFL daily will cover it.
16:48Listen to NFL daily on the I heart radio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
16:54Football's back. Hey, it's Drew Franklin from NFL cover zero.
16:57Enjoy the NFL season while listening to NFL cover zero.
17:00We have storylines, predictions, and lots of silliness. Here's what you can expect from the podcast in our second season.
17:07When you meet people and you say your job's a sports announcer, it's always interesting to see what the first thing they say is.
17:14I did have one of the more difficult questions though.
17:17He sits next to me and he sees I'm, I'm, I'm on my computer and he goes, big sports fan.
17:24And I was like, yeah, actually. And he goes, we think about my Jaguars this year.
17:29I realized like no one's ever asked me that question ever about anything.
17:33And I was like, do you have all? Listen to NFL cover zero on the I heart radio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
17:41All right. You can catch the Jaguars in London again this weekend as Trevor Lawrence and the crew take on the Houston
17:48Texans and AFC South showdown Sunday, 9 30 AM Eastern live on NFL network and streaming on ESPN as Molly McGrath with
17:55an eye towards this Sunday, London finale. Greetings from the London eye and observation wheel overlooking some of London's most famous attractions.
18:02And on a clear day, you can see all the way out to Wembley stadium, the home of the week six matchup between the Texans and the Jaguars.
18:11Now the Jaguars remained in London after last week's walk off thriller.
18:14And that game was not pretty for Jacksonville 13 penalties, two touchdowns, but one interception for their quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, who said
18:21it was one of the craziest games he's ever been a part of.
18:25He told me after the game that the team's confidence in belief helps them get this win and they'll need that confidence
18:32this week against a Texans defensive front as their starting left tackle.
18:36Anton Harrison is placed on the IR with a knee injury.
18:40Now the Texans defense got things back on track with their first win of the season last week and their offense will soon get a boost as quarterback.
18:48CJ Stroud will be reunited with his college wide receiver, Marvin Harrison, Jr., who was just traded to the team.
18:55So I guess you could say things are looking up for the Texans.
18:59What a sight out there. Molly McGrath way to work from inside the London eye.
19:03Like let's go on all eyes on Marvin Harrison now providing an additional target.
19:08Cam Wolf joining us here ahead of this matchup for CJ Stroud.
19:12Any sense on the plan that Texans are using to get him ready to roll?
19:16Yeah, Rhett, Marvin Harrison will make his debut for the Texans and the plan is to ease him in.
19:22He won't have the full game plan from week one, but this trade is really a sign to the locker room that we believe in you guys.
19:31Even at one and four willing to go all in and bet that you're going to turn this thing around.
19:37That means a lot to the locker room. It also means they believe in Marvin reuniting the CJ Stroud and being able to get the most of them.
19:46But Rhett, I'm waking up early with a tea in hand Sunday morning on NFL Network to watch Will Anderson, Jr., versus
19:53this Jaguars offense and seeing can he wreck just like he did against the Titans last week with his three sacks.
19:59He's looked like the best defensive player in football at times.
20:03I talked to a couple of execs and their early straw poll is that he's their defensive player of the year.
20:09A difficult challenge against Trevor Lawrence in a Jags offense that has been very good.
20:14But what's so interesting about Anderson is how he leads.
20:17He talked about never being 0 and 4 before in his career and how it's going to challenge them to see who
20:24the real dogs are in the building. Who's going to feel sorry for themselves when adversity hits and who is going to come back and fight.
20:32And when you watch Will Anderson play, you have no choice but to fight.
20:37We talked about D'Amico Ryan's taking over play calling.
20:39He's certainly been hard on them calling people out and we've seen a different version of the Texans.
20:45Can they translate it? The Jags, of course, as Molly mentioned, don't have their left tackle Antoine Harrison.
20:51It'll be Walker Little at left tackle, but I'd expect them to keep a lot of two tight end sets there chipping
20:58those edge rushers to try to slow them down.
21:01It's going to be quite a challenge for the Jags, but they have the guys they believe to get it done.
21:07Yeah, there's no chamomile tea in Will Anderson's play style.
21:10That is for sure. It's full octane all the time.
21:13Same goes for Parker Washington here. Cam Wolf who bet on himself decided against the contract extension and now has probably earned
21:20a little a couple extra bucks on that front.
21:23Man, Parker Washington. What a story. He has clearly become the Jaguars wide receiver one and I reported earlier on in the offseason.
21:30The Jags were hopeful to get him on a deal and extension in the Michael Wilson range, which was a three year, a $75 million deal.
21:39And frankly, they were surprised that he passed on and bet on himself.
21:43He has expectations for more. He believes he's a true number one and he showed it last week against the Eagles with those two touchdowns.
21:50That big fourth and five slot fade getting the ball down the field and he's certainly making himself more money.
21:57We could be talking about him as a 30, $35 million receiver this time next offseason and Jags players regularly joke that
22:04nobody beats Parker Washington in the building. His work ethic is infectious and he has been their go to guy.
22:10And when they're paying the Texan defense with Will Anderson with Derrick Stingley Jr., they're going to need guys to get those contested catches.
22:17And even at 510, Parker Washington is their go to tough guy over the middle of the field.
22:23And I can't wait to see how Parker Washington responds in another big primetime setting.
22:28He always says, I love when all the eyeballs are on me.
22:32That means people are counting on me and that's when I step up the most.
22:36Love it, Cam. Thanks very much. As we get to the Bills and Raiders this week from Vegas, no question that Brock
22:43Bowers fits that role that you were just talking about there with Parker Washington for Las Vegas.
22:49All eyes will be on Bowers and whether he can help the Raiders stop this two game slide.
22:54Kirk Cousins with just three touchdowns over the last two weeks.
22:58Both of those losses as the competition, though, has also been ramped up for Las Vegas after the first three wins of the season.
23:05And look, I know it's still early here, Mike Garofalo, but we did see Fernando Mendoza make his NFL debut last week.
23:12I think any sense that it may be full on transition to Fernando might be coming down the line here at some point soon.
23:20I mean, tell me, are the Raiders going to lose another game?
23:23Are they going to fall out of are they going to fall under 500?
23:28Are they going to fall out of like that?
23:31This is the stuff that I need to give you the final answer, because right now where the Raiders are is Kirk Cousins has played well.
23:39We are in the thick of things. Let's continue to remain in the thick of things.
23:44If that changes, then yeah, Fernando Mendoza could sneak in here.
23:47I think I think we're just right before the start of that window is how I would describe it based on the
23:54people that I've talked to on this one. It's not a thought right now for the Raiders to how quickly can we put Mendoza in?
24:02It's still all about Kirk Cousins. But again, that could change in the near future, depending on where this team is right now.
24:09I do think they want to see him in some capacity by the end of the season.
24:15So I don't have the exact answers for you.
24:17Clint Kubiak wouldn't have the exact answers for you.
24:20But stay tuned in case they lose this game.
24:23And then perhaps we get closer to that window that I'm talking about where it could be an entry for Mendoza.
24:30OK, we'll keep an eye on it. Thanks very much there, Mike.
24:33Drake May certainly found a way to rekindle the form that allowed him to be the runner up in the MVP race
24:40a year ago, taking the Patriots to the Super Bowl.
24:43His last couple of weeks, his team has averaged over 37 points a game.
24:48He scored eight touchdowns on offense. Aaron Glenn of the Jets knows the challenge his defense has this week.
24:54To me, I go back to the last year and I look at everything he's done.
24:59And obviously he was up with MVP. And then I keep saying this is, man, I wish that, you know, all of
25:06my players can have like a great game every bit.
25:09That's just not going to happen, you know, and he's had some some some a couple of games where, you know, he didn't play as well.
25:17But now you see exactly who he is at some point.
25:21God's going to go back to exactly who they are.
25:24You know, they will never stay in that rut for a long time, especially guys of his his magnitude.
25:30So it's something that we have to watch out for.
25:33We have to go out there and compete our ass off.
25:36I know that and the way that he's getting the ball down the field.
25:41You know, we have a really good job of make sure we defend the deep ball.
25:46Tall task this week, Judy, for a Jets team that is coming off a victory.
25:50But the Patriots are playing some really good football right now.
25:54They're struggling to start the season. The Jets have some injuries to worry about.
25:58That's right, especially on offense. Aaron Glenn told us today that receiver A.D.
26:02Mitchell, who played first two games and played really well when he was on the field, but injured his finger in a
26:09practice that he had a surgical procedure on that finger.
26:12He's already missed three games. He is considered week to week as is running back a Brees Hall.
26:18He has a quad injury. If he misses this week, he is still listed as week to week.
26:24If he misses this week, this would be his third straight game.
26:27He did not practice today. So certainly that is trending toward him not not playing this week.
26:33They are short handed Braylon Allen, the backup running back, performed really well.
26:37He was a workhorse. 24 carries against the Browns.
26:40He really powered them to a victory last week.
26:42We will see if they can piece it together again against the Patriots.
26:47Still to come on the insiders. The Chiefs coming off the bye week and getting a little bit healthier.
26:53More on a key piece to the Chiefs offensive line showing up at practice.
26:57That's next. All right. Welcome back here to the insiders as we sit here on game day eve of week six with Thursday night upon us.
27:05Seahawks and Broncos. Broncos secondary banged up in a big way.
27:09Riley Moss is questionable while Pat Sertan and Talanoa Hufunga will be out as they try to deal with Jackson Smith and
27:15Jigba, who is expected to play with the ankle injury along with Cooper Cup and company there for Seattle.
27:21Cam Wolf back here with us. Seattle also hoping to get Zach Charbonny back here relatively soon to try to kind of
27:28up the ante for a run game that's struggled a little bit, especially since Jadarian Price has been out.
27:34Absolutely, Red. And I talk with a key Seahawks source.
27:37I asked him what's the number one key for you guys to win Thursday night.
27:42He said we have to take care of the ball and get our run game improved.
27:47And those two things are aligned. They're coming off a four turnover game last week to interceptions from Sam Darnold to fumbles from the running backs.
27:55They have to take pressure off of Sam Darnold.
27:58They have to have a secondary playmaker to JSN.
28:01And as you mentioned, Zach Charbonny is out, but I'm told there's a chance he could return as early as next Sunday versus the Chiefs.
28:09As far as tomorrow, it's going to be a manual Wilson with a little bit of help from George Helani and they need a big day from Wilson.
28:18He fumbled last week and I'm told he told scout team defenders this week to punch at the ball as hard as
28:25you can in practice and try to get me used to that because I need better ball security.
28:30Keep an eye on them playing more six offense alignment or two tight ends this week to help spark that run game.
28:37They're playing a 29th ranked rushing defense for the Broncos and they know they have the advantage with their strong defense versus Bo Nix and the Broncos.
28:46If they can win the run game on this side of the ball, they believe they'll be in good shape on Thursday night.
28:53Well, Cam, the Denver Denver Broncos will operate with Sean Payton as their play caller for the second straight game.
28:59This will be the first one at home with Payton back at control of the offensive play calling wheel.
29:05They did not have the type of improvement in week one in Los Angeles against the Chargers that the Broncos would have hoped.
29:12In fact, their numbers were down across the board, but they believe this will be a process that will show improvement over time.
29:20Payton wanted to get back to doing this. He'll have another chance against a tough Seattle defense coming off a tough loss
29:26on Sunday against the 49ers in Denver on Thursday night.
29:30Let's see if Payton can get that offense back on track in Denver.
29:34Following one of the postgame headlines from the Rams lost to the Bills on Monday night, their starting left tackle, Larrick Jackson,
29:41with this punch of Bradley Chubb postgame was suspended two games for that altercation postgame.
29:45Adam Schefter back here with us. Adam, sounds like that suspension has now been reduced by the league.
29:51What can you tell us? Well, Rhett, the ruling just came in moments ago.
29:55The hearing officer, Derrick Brooks, jointly appointed by the NFL and the NFLPA, opted to reduce a Larrick Jackson suspension from two
30:02games to one game, which means he will miss the game against Arizona on Sunday.
30:07The Rams will have to make do without him, but he'll be back after that.
30:12So the suspension is cut in half. He saves money.
30:15The Rams get back their left tackle. Everybody saw the punch on Monday night where they threw it.
30:20Bradley Chubb. Now, I'm told that the Rams felt like Chubb instigated that, that he said some things to a Larrick Jackson,
30:27but that doesn't excuse the Rams left tackle from going over and throwing the punch that he did.
30:33But Derrick Brooks agreed with the appeal. He had the suspension reduced from two games to one game.
30:39That is good news for Jackson and the Rams.
30:41Okay, let's get to the Chargers and Chiefs. And how about Patrick Mahomes sitting on 99 wins in 130 career starts.
30:48So a chance to win his 100th game in his 131st start, which would tie him there with Tom Brady for the
30:55fewest starts prior to 100th win amongst quarterbacks since 1950.
30:58Mahomes talking about how he feels about this team right now coming off the bike.
31:03I mean, for me, just, I mean, give my knee an extra week just to rest and stuff like that.
31:09I mean, obviously I felt great this season and being able to rehab and do stuff like that.
31:15But it kind of gives me another week where I can kind of, all right, I got through that first few games,
31:22kind of reset, reevaluate where I'm at, and then kind of move forward going ahead.
31:26And so obviously winning there helps out a ton.
31:29And then getting a week to have rest, kind of seeing around the NFL, what everybody's got, and then kind of come back with the right mindset.
31:38It's big. Mike, another positive storyline here for Patrick Mahomes in the Chiefs.
31:42The presence of his left tackle Josh Simmons at practice.
31:45I know a story you've been following since training camp, really.
31:48We have been in the Chiefs saying that it is a medical reason.
31:52Remember last year he missed some time due to personal reasons, some issues involving his family.
31:57So a lot of folks thought, is this the same type of thing?
32:02The Chiefs have said, no, this is a neck back type deal.
32:05But he's back to practice. Now, practice in a limited capacity.
32:09It sounds like they're just working him back in because, remember, he hasn't practiced since even before the regular season began.
32:15It was late in training camp when he stopped practicing at that point.
32:19So Josh Simmons back on the field. It's a good thing.
32:23Don't expect him to come right into the rescue just immediately.
32:26Let's see how this goes for Simmons, who has gone for several medical evaluations as he's tried to get the best possible
32:33treatment for that back issue that he's had. And Mike, it looks like it'll be another week without Rasheed Rice, the Chiefs
32:40wide receiver, who has been dealing with that hamstring injury.
32:43He missed another practice today. And typically a receiver who's missed a game already and then misses the opening week of practice.
32:50That's not an encouraging sign for his availability for Sunday's game against the Chargers.
32:55Everybody remembers how he grabbed that hamstring when they were playing that Raiders.
32:59He reached right down for it. It looks a little bit like Saquon Barkley hobbling off the field against the Rams.
33:05Both players in danger of missing this week. And it looks like Rice could be out once again.
33:11Let's get back to the Panthers and Eagles. Eagles have just been dreadful in the second half this season.
33:17They've gone three and out on 15 of 29 drives in the second half this season.
33:22Jalen Hurts for his part, not great either. Completing just over 53% of passes at that point.
33:27Mike, what more do the Eagles really need from Jalen Hurts, especially, to try to get things rolling here?
33:33I got to run the offense. And during training camp, I was there with MJD and he said, you know, if he
33:40does, if he runs this offense the way he's supposed to, there will be throws for him to make.
33:46Now, look, Devontae Smith hasn't been out there the last couple of weeks.
33:50So that's hurting things. Although, you know, there's Darius Cooper, whom actually he name checked when I was there this summer.
33:57Hurts did. I said, who's emerging to you? He said, Darius Cooper is emerging.
34:01And Cooper is now emerging during the season as well.
34:04But look, they've got to make those throws. But look, the run aspect of it.
34:09And Sean Magnum, the offensive coordinator, was asked about this because he did not run a lot when folks thought, well, Devontae Smith's not there.
34:17Saquon Barkley's not there. They're also down tank big beat.
34:20Maybe Jalen Hurts is going to run more. And I think he only ran a couple of times, two times in this last game.
34:28So it'd be interesting to see if that becomes an element of it because that is a weapon that you want to
34:34be able to use if you're the Eagles offensively.
34:37But it's one that Hurts has been reluctant to do in the last couple of years.
34:42So let's see how that goes moving forward. Cowboys also trying to get back on track as they get set to battle the Packers on Sunday night.
34:51However, despite the two and three start, ESPN Analytics tells us that the Cowboys have a 63% chance to win their division
34:58in the NFC East, fifth highest in the league right now.
35:01Judy, I wonder if the Mike Pettin hire is factored into the ESPN Analytics there trying to get that defense rolling.
35:08What do the Cowboys hope to accomplish by bringing Mike Pettin?
35:11Well, they have made clear Brian Schottenheimer emphasized it again today that Christian Parker is still the defensive coordinator.
35:17Everything goes through him that Mike Pettin is just there as another set of eyes and ears to be a sounding board,
35:24maybe to give some advice to Christian Parker. What could we expect from Mike Pettin?
35:29This is an experienced longtime defensive coordinator. He comes from the Rex Ryan school.
35:33He was with Rex Ryan here at the New York Jets when the Jets had a spectacular defense.
35:39They went to two consecutive AFC championships on the back of their defense.
35:43What did the defense look like? Lots of blitzing, lots of disguise blitzing.
35:47Now, at the time, they had Antonio Cromartie and Darrell Rivas playing back in the secondary.
35:52So that certainly helped when you wanted to blitz.
35:55But it was a very aggressive style of defense.
35:58The most interesting part of this to me is going to be the dynamic.
36:02Christian Parker is going to call the game from up in the box and Mike Pettin is going to be down on the field.
36:10That naturally means that the players will be talking to him more immediately during the game.
36:15It's going to be really interesting to see how this gets married and how it works in Dallas.
36:20And that's the Cowboys defense. And even the offense in Dallas now has some issues.
36:25The way that it played on Thursday night against Tampa, it struggled to control the blitz that Todd Bowles unleashed against the Cowboys offense.
36:33The Cowboys turned over the football three separate times against Tampa.
36:36They could not get the running game going, running for only 50 yards.
36:40And if you can't run the football and you're turning it over and you're not controlling the blitz, then you've got problems.
36:47It'll be a much different challenge on Sunday night in Green Bay against the Micah Parsons-less Green Bay Packers.
36:53But the Dallas Cowboys know that even though the defense has to be better, they win with offense.
36:59Their offense is what should be carrying them. It didn't do that last Thursday night, and they're hoping to rectify that Sunday night in Green Bay.
37:07All right, so to come here on the Insiders, the Bears have won two games without Caleb Williams, but did fall for
37:14the first time this past week to their bitter rivals, the Green Bay Packers.
37:18What to expect for a potential Caleb Williams return this week?
37:22Courtney Cronin joins us with the latest. I'm Brett Coleman.
37:25And I'm Trevor Sikama. Have you ever watched a game and wondered what really made the difference beyond the final score?

38:40Last year, we had Mike McDonald, Sam Darnold on the field after the game, but that was last year.
38:46If you're a football sicko like me, NFL Daily is your kind of show.
38:50It is in the name, NFL Daily, fresh content in your feed every day, all season long.
38:56Matthew Stafford coming off his MVP season. On a dazzling dart from Matthew Stafford.
39:00Big time trades that shake up the NFL. A.J.
39:03Brown is loose! And of course, those Seahawks trying to run it back and win another Lombardi trophy.
39:09The Seahawks win Super Bowl 60! They are bringing the Lombardi back to the Northwest!
39:13If it's happening on a football field, NFL Daily will cover it.
39:17Listen to NFL Daily on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
39:22Football's back! Hey, it's Drew Franklin from NFL Cover Zero.
39:25Enjoy the NFL season while listening to NFL Cover Zero.
39:28We have storylines, predictions, and lots of silliness. Here's what you can expect from the podcast in our second season.
39:35When you meet people and you say your job's a sports announcer, it's always interesting to see what the first thing they say is.
39:42I did have one of the more difficult questions though.
39:45He sits next to me and he sees I'm on my computer and he goes, big sports fan.
39:51And I was like, yeah, actually. And he goes, what are you thinking about my Jaguars this year?
39:57I realized like no one's ever asked me that question ever about anything.
40:01And I was like, Duval. Listen to NFL Cover Zero on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
40:08All right, taking a look at the Bears quarterback so far this season.
40:12We've seen Case Keenum and Tyson Bajent over the course of the last three weeks as Caleb Williams has been out.
40:18And obviously the Bears offense is better. A higher performing outfit when Caleb is healthy and ready to go, averaging 31 points a game.
40:26For more now on the Bears quarterback situation, we welcome Courtney Cronin here to the insiders.
40:31Courtney, obviously, Caleb, a full participant today is a positive sign.
40:34What's your understanding of what more they need to see from him to be ready to go this weekend?
40:40Rhett, I go back to that pretty extensive on-field workout that Williams did Sunday in Green Bay.
40:46He was moving around really well. They put him through a series of different throwing drills.
40:51More of that Thursday and Friday when they're in actual practice settings is going to be what he needs to show that
40:58he can handle in order to get that green light for Sunday in Atlanta.
41:02But being a full participant during the walkthrough today was a good sign that things are moving in the right direction.
41:09Ben Johnson told me on Sunday that it would be close for Atlanta.
41:13They're certainly factoring in the tight turnaround between week six and Thursday night football on week seven.
41:18But he's been progressing the way that the team has wanted him to since he injured that hamstring in week two.
41:25And could be getting some pretty good news here in a couple days.
41:29Yeah, well, it's not just Caleb Williams. The entire backfield has been hit pretty hard with the injury bug.
41:35Obviously, Kyle Monunga missing last week. DeAndre Swift has been banged up.
41:38What's the latest on the running back situation? That was not the most vaunted rushing attack in the NFL Sunday in Green Bay.
41:46A unit that was held to 81 yards. A big part of that was because it lacked physicality and balance without Monunga there.
41:53DeAndre Swift carried the ball nine times for 43 yards and had a rushing touchdown.
41:58But for a second straight week was a non-existent non-factor in the second half.
42:02Now, Ben Johnson said that wasn't injury related for Swift, who was on the injury report last week with a hip injury.
42:09This week, he's not. He was full go during the walkthrough today.
42:13Anticipate that he will still be that way going forward.
42:16But the balance that the Bears didn't have. They tried to make up with wide receivers getting involved in the run game.
42:23That didn't work. Six wide receiver carries for 11 yards.
42:26Didn't get the job done on the ground. And going against the fourth best run defense in the NFL in Atlanta is
42:33certainly going to be a test if Monunga, who was DNP during the walkthrough on Wednesday, if he's not able to go this week in Atlanta.
42:41Yeah, the Falcons have been really strong along the line of scrimmage.
42:45Obviously, on the offensive side as well with Bajon Robinson wrecking games so far this season.
42:50Courtney, great insight for us. Thanks very much. Go Hoosiers.
42:53All right. Saints and Giants this week. And this one coming from East Rutherford, New Jersey.
42:58Saints have struggled after a somewhat optimistic start to the season, trying to avoid a one in five start for the second straight year.
43:05Owner Gail Benson not mincing words, though, in a local appearance this week, talking about her disappointment and where the team is right now.
43:13I hear the frustration directed toward our team and our organization.
43:16It is not lost on me. Our fans invest their time, their hearts in the Saints.
43:21They are right to expect more than we have delivered.
43:25As an owner, the responsibility does start with me.
43:27I will not make excuses and I will not accept this level of performance as our standard.
43:33I am committed to making the decisions necessary to improve this team.
43:37Everyone in this organization understands the urgency. We must prepare better, execute consistently, and correct the mistakes that are costing us the games.
43:44Words will not restore our fans confidence. Our performance must do that.
43:47Mrs. B is great. And, you know, she, like all of us, we all want better results.
43:53And that's how this business is. And so, you know, we got great guys in this building that are doing everything they can to find the formula.
44:01And, you know, all we can control is moving forward as far as, you know, playing better, coaching better, giving ourselves the opportunities moving forward.
44:09And so, you know, I think our guys have the right mindset against the NFL.
44:14There's ups and there's downs. And, you know, it's about navigating those and getting better moving forward.
44:19Judy, Mrs. Benson does not talk very often. And so when you hear her say things like she's committed to making the
44:26decisions necessary to improve the team, what does that tell you?
44:30It tells me she is really frustrated. Don't forget the Saints just lost three straight games at home, including getting blown out
44:36by the Falcons during the anniversary of the Dome coming game.
44:40So clearly she is frustrated. But as you pointed out, that was very out of character for Gail Benson.
44:46She just does not talk to reporters. She certainly doesn't talk about the team on a regular basis.
44:52So for her to say that tells you the level of frustration.
44:55That was a sit up and take notice moment for the folks inside that building, because that just does not happen.
45:02This team had high hopes coming off what was a strong finish to the season last year.
45:07It just hasn't worked out. Certainly they need to rebound because Mrs.
45:11Benson made clear she is not happy. Sure to be similar frustration amongst the ownership of the Washington Commanders after watching the
45:18way that overtime went in that tie with the New York Giants, what that might mean for Dan Quinn just ahead.
45:25All right, coming up on Sunday, the London finale.
45:27Texans and Jaguars 930 a.m. Eastern on NFL Network and streaming on the ESPN app.
45:32Then on Monday Night Football, the finale to week six.
45:35It's the Commanders fresh off a tie heading west to take on the undefeated 49ers.
45:408 p.m. Eastern on ABC, ESPN and streaming on the ESPN app.
45:44Frustration abound for the Commanders, certainly. Following what happened in the final seconds of the overtime tie with the New York Giants,
45:51what was being said to Jaden Daniels on those final plays?
45:54What was his understanding of the situation? What did he communicate to the rest of the offense on that fateful second down
46:01play that ended up working all of the clock out before they could clock it and then kick a field goal to win the game?
46:09So, Mike Garofalo, as we assess that situation, what more are you hearing about how pivotal a bounce back this is for
46:16head coach Dan Quinn on Monday night? It's as big as it gets.
46:20And Josh Harris and those that will make the decisions for the Commanders on the coaching future of Dan Quinn, whenever that
46:27may be, are the only ones that really truly know whether this is a make or break game for Dan Quinn.
46:33Because what follows this game, and this will be a tough one that not many folks are expecting the Commanders to win, is a bye week.
46:41And we always look to bye weeks, international games, Thursday night games, as entry points for owners to potentially make a decision on a head coach.
46:50So, this is a monumental game, and that's what folks around the league are saying.
46:54Again, they don't know fully. Only those inside the building and those in power really know what could potentially happen here.
47:01But yes, I would expect that if Dan Quinn and the Commanders don't respond well, and they get run by the 49ers,
47:08that there might have to be some tough decisions made by those, including Magic Johnson, Rhett.
47:13Okay. NFC West matchup in Los Angeles this week following a major disappointment for the Rams on Monday night.
47:19Sean McVay saying he's as pissed off as he has been following a loss in this one after seeing Harrison Mevis' field goal get blocked.
47:27That would have won the Rams the game, then allowed the Bills to go down and win that one.
47:33Mevis no longer a part of the program. They're in Los Angeles.
47:36What are the Rams, Mike, looking for in a rebound this week?
47:40How about come out strong, play well early, take control of the game, and put away a team that many are expecting you to beat by double digits.
47:49I mean, that's what the Rams have to do in this case.
47:53This is the softer point of their schedule at which they should be winning these games.
47:58I mean, they played tough games early. I'm not making excuses because this is a team that folks thought would be at
48:05least on the plus side of 500 as you see their record down there, but also a great team in the eyes of many.
48:12And they won all these games on paper before the season started.
48:16We don't play on paper. We play on grass and sometimes synthetic surfaces, Rhett.
48:20So that's where the Rams are right now. And I know Sean McVay needs or wants his team to understand that you've
48:27got to put in the work and you can't just assume that you're going to go in there and win some games.
48:34This is a great opportunity for him to teach that lesson to his team.
48:39Yeah, nothing synthetic about his frustration following Monday night.
48:41That was as authentic as it gets. And for the Pittsburgh Steelers, they have put behind them some frustration of some early
48:48game struggles and have come back to play pretty well here these last couple of weeks.
48:53What can they do to continue that trend next?
48:56Steelers visiting the Bucs this week and kind of okay with being the visitor in this scenario.
49:0210-2 all-time record versus the Bucs at 5-1 at Raymond James Stadium, including a victory in Roman numerals Super Bowl 43.
49:08That's it. In fact, Judy Battista back here with us.
49:11Judy, you know, one of the quieter storylines of the season is the success of Jalen Warren piloting a Steelers run game
49:18that's really come to life here lately. Yeah, he's really emerged as the bell cow.
49:23And suddenly the Steelers have a really balanced offensive attack.
49:26Jalen Warren is running the ball. The offensive line is blocking really well, and they have multiple receiving threats.
49:32Aaron Rodgers has been moving around really well, especially considering he's a 40-something quarterback.
49:36He's been throwing the ball well. So defenses haven't been able to load the box against Warren.
49:42It's allowed him to get going. He catches the ball out of the backfields.
49:46It's given them a really balanced offensive attack. The Bucs, despite their record, are really good at stopping the run.
49:52This is a big test for Warren and the Steelers, but certainly one that they would appear to be up for, especially at Raymond James.
50:00Big AFC North battle in Cleveland this week. Browns coming off the loss, trying to continue to get back to their winning ways against the Ravens.
50:08Lamar Jackson did not play last week, did not practice today, keeping an eye on his availability for this weekend's tilt there with Cleveland.
50:16As we welcome Mike back. Not the only potential return, though, is Lamar Jackson for the Ravens.
50:21What are you hearing about their rookie receiver, Jacoby Lane?
50:24Yeah, rookie wide receiver Jacoby Lane potentially returning this week.
50:28Did return to practice today. It was expected to be a big part of their offense after having a huge summer here.
50:34He caught a touchdown in the opening game. I think this is it.
50:39No, that's not it. That's where he got hurt.
50:41But he caught a touchdown and then did the Ray Lewis squirrel dance only to have the official say holding on the offense 10 yards.
50:49So it got so Jacoby Lane now back after wrist surgery in just four weeks expected to play or has a chance to play here.
50:57Okay, we'll see if that makes a difference that if Lamar can certainly get back into the lineup this week.
51:03Mike Judy appreciate you guys. I'm Rhett Lewis and the insiders will be back with you on Friday.
