Alec Pierce

PositiveUsage44:46

Alec Pierce finished with four catches for 61 yards and played about half the routes, which is a positive sign for his continued fantasy viability.

Insight page

Amon-Ra St. Brown

PositiveUsage30:30

Amon-Ra St. Brown commanded a 36% target share in the Lions' offense. Despite a conservative 5.2 ADOT, he remains a focal point of the passing game, scoring a touchdown in overtime via a pick play.

Insight page

Antonio Williams

PositiveBreakout112:12

Williams was the most productive Commanders receiver in Week 1, recording four catches for 64 yards and a touchdown. He operated primarily in condensed splits and slot-ish roles, outperforming expectations despite being sixth in total routes.

Insight page

Bryce Young

PositiveProjection12:08

Bryce Young had a fantastic performance with 361 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, and a rushing score. He showed improved willingness to push the ball downfield, ranking sixth in average air yards per attempt, which bodes well for his ability to support his receivers.

Insight page

Bucky Irving

PositiveBreakout102:49

Harmon identifies Irving as a "really, really big winner" after Week 1. He showed explosive rushing ability and strong pass-game usage, running 59% of routes in 11 personnel with a 27% targets-per-route-run rate. Despite a third-down fumble, his consistent production and role make him a high-priority add.

Insight page

C.J. Stroud

PositiveProjection22:01

Matt Harmon feels positive about the Texans' offense, noting Stroud's efficiency in attacking the middle of the field, going 14-of-19 for 173 yards on in-breaking routes. Despite a late-game sack-fumble, Stroud looked clean and organized in a system that appears more efficient than in previous years.

Insight page

Caleb Williams

PositiveProjection3:23

Caleb Williams displayed MVP-caliber poise and command in his debut, showing explosive rushing ability with a 29-yard touchdown run. His performance suggests he is already operating at a high level, with his mobility and decisive playmaking serving as a major asset for the Bears' offense.

Insight page

Chris Godwin

NegativeRole102:06

Godwin operated as the "big slot" receiver in the Buccaneers' 11-personnel-heavy offense, recording four catches for 40 yards on four targets.

Insight page

Chris Olave

PositiveUsage33:11

Chris Olave had a productive debut with 10 receptions for 182 yards. Despite leaving the game three times for injury, he was a constant downfield threat and a primary target for Tyler Shuck in the second half.

Insight page

Christian Watson

PositiveBreakout47:49

Christian Watson showcased his elite athleticism with an 81-yard touchdown and red-zone usage, positioning him as a potential upside WR2.

Insight page

Chuba Hubbard

PositiveUsage13:33

Chuba Hubbard dominated the Panthers' backfield usage over Jonathan Brooks, logging 13 carries and 26 routes compared to Brooks' six carries and six routes. He is the clear base and passing-down back, making him a potential value pick for those who drafted him late.

Insight page

Colston Loveland

NegativeUsage19:18

Despite a 92% route share, Colston Loveland finished with zero catches on two targets. While he was open for a potential touchdown that Caleb Williams missed, his lack of involvement in the game plan is concerning, though he is not considered a total zero moving forward.

Insight page

D.J. Moore

PositiveUsage28:38

DJ Moore led the Bills with an 81% route participation rate and recorded five catches for 101 yards. He was a focal point of the passing attack, recording four catches of 10+ yards and a touchdown, proving his immediate impact on the offense.

Insight page

D'Andre Swift

PositiveUsage4:03

DeAndre Swift led the Bears backfield with 61% of opportunities compared to 38.7% for Roschon Johnson. Despite Johnson running more routes (16 to 11), Swift's role in a high-powered offense and the team's dominant line play suggest he has more upside than his mid-to-high fourth-round ADP indicated.

Insight page

Dallas Goedert

PositiveUsage107:09

Goedert was a major part of the Eagles' passing game, catching two touchdowns and running routes on nearly all dropbacks. He is firmly in the mix as a primary target.

Insight page

Dalton Kincaid

PositiveUsage28:38

Dalton Kincaid saw a 77% snap share and recorded three catches for 113 yards when lined up out wide. He finally looked like the 'actualized version' of his potential, serving as a major downfield threat for the Bills.

Insight page

David Montgomery

PositiveUsage23:30

Matt Harmon highlights that Montgomery's three-touchdown debut was bolstered by a significant shift in the Texans' run game, which utilized heavy personnel (12 personnel) and achieved a 48.3% rushing success rate. While his yards-per-carry was depressed by short-yardage usage, the team's commitment to the run game is a major improvement over their previous 31st-ranked rushing success rate.

Insight page

Derrick Henry

PositiveProjection40:13

Derrick Henry looked immortal in his Ravens debut, rushing 24 times for 144 yards and three touchdowns. He was effectively utilized in the zone-read game and even caught a screen pass, proving he remains a high-end fantasy asset.

Insight page
PositiveProjection41:41

Derrick Henry scored three touchdowns in his debut, putting him 30% of the way toward the double-digit touchdown projection Matt Harmon predicted for him this season.

Insight page

Ja'Marr Chase

NegativeBust100:25

Matt Harmon describes Chase's Week 1 performance as a "bust" after he managed only four targets. The offense failed to push the ball downfield to him, opting for quick, underneath passes to Mike Gesicki instead. Harmon notes the Bengals' offense looked disjointed and failed to involve Chase in the perimeter passing game.

Insight page

Jahmyr Gibbs

PositiveUsage31:31

Jahmyr Gibbs saw massive usage in the Lions' overtime win, recording 29 carries and 5 targets for 34 total opportunities. Hayden Winks describes this workload as "insane" and notes that Gibbs is becoming nearly impossible to defend in fantasy formats.

Insight page

Jalen Coker

PositiveBreakout8:34

Jalen Coker outperformed expectations, looking like the best receiver on the field and creating more separation than teammate Tedron McMillan. With a 51-yard touchdown and a high target share, he is a viable flex option moving forward, especially with Bryce Young pushing the ball downfield.

Insight page

Jalen Hurts

PositiveProjection106:47

Hurts looked leaner and more mobile, finishing with 203 passing yards, three touchdowns, and 46 rushing yards on seven carries. His ability to scramble, including a pivotal 22-yard run, remains a key fantasy asset.

Insight page

James Cook

PositiveUsage20:52

James Cook was involved early as a receiver, catching a pass on the second play of the game. While his total of three catches isn't a massive volume, Harmon views this as an early indicator of his expanded role in the passing game as part of the team's shift toward throwing more.

Insight page

Jayden Reed

NegativeUsage55:06

Jaden Reed's fantasy outlook is concerning, as he is being rotated out for other receivers and tight ends, limiting his route participation to 64%.

Insight page

Jeremiyah Love

PositiveBreakout118:17

Love looked explosive and superior to Tyler Allgeier in the Cardinals' backfield. He was effective in tight spaces and as a dump-off receiver, making him a valuable fantasy asset.

Insight page

Jonathan Taylor

PositiveUsage44:25

Jonathan Taylor looked excellent, rushing 19 times for 98 yards and two touchdowns despite the Colts' offensive struggles.

Insight page

Jonathon Brooks

NegativeUsage13:33

Jonathan Brooks served as a change-of-pace back in his debut, logging only one snap on passing downs and six carries total. While he had a notable 48-yard reception, he is currently behind Chuba Hubbard in the rotation.

Insight page

Josh Allen

NegativeUsage19:48

Matt Harmon notes a shift in the Bills' offensive approach, observing a higher ratio of dropbacks to designed carries compared to last year's even split. Despite a game-ending interception, Allen showed poise, and the team's commitment to throwing the ball aligns with preseason reports of a more pass-heavy philosophy under Joe Brady.

Insight page

Josh Downs

NegativeUsage43:59

Josh Downs saw significant usage in non-11 personnel sets, but his fantasy output was limited to two catches for 37 yards in a blowout loss.

Insight page

Justin Jefferson

PositiveProjection54:04

Justin Jefferson's fantasy floor is significantly higher this year, as he remains a target-hog regardless of who is at quarterback for the Vikings.

Insight page

Kalif Raymond

PositiveUsage25:05

Khalif Raymond saw significant usage, playing 95% of three-wide receiver sets and recording eight catches for 84 yards. His role appears to be a deliberate part of the Bears' offense rather than a fluke.

Insight page

Kendrick Bourne

PositiveSleeper118:44

Bourne is highlighted as a potential target hog in the Cardinals' offense due to his familiarity with the coaching staff, performing well in Week 1.

Insight page

Kenneth Gainwell

NegativeBust104:40

Harmon dismisses Gainwell as a fantasy asset, noting he only runs routes on 36% of dropbacks and is not a bell-cow back even in negative game scripts. He suggests Gainwell is not worth rostering compared to other backup running backs.

Insight page

Khalil Shakir

PositiveUsage30:20

Khalil Shakir was utilized more down the field in this game, catching two passes for 45 yards on his first two targets. While he later returned to his typical screen-heavy usage, his early-game deployment suggests an expanded role.

Insight page

Lamar Jackson

PositiveUsage39:36

Lamar Jackson looked fully healthy and poised in his debut, showing off both designed runs and effective scrambling. He scored a rushing touchdown inside the five-yard line and displayed elite movement skills, despite being sacked twice and fumbling once.

Insight page

Luther Burden

PositiveUsage19:01

Luther Burden recorded five catches for 63 yards but fumbled early and saw limited usage in two-receiver sets. His role as a full-time player is currently in question, making him a target for further statistical analysis.

Insight page

Makai Lemon

NegativeBust109:00

Lemon had a disastrous fantasy outing, finishing with three catches for negative five yards due to negative screen passes. While he is seeing the field, he is not currently a viable fantasy option.

Insight page

Mark Andrews

NegativeUsage42:44

Mark Andrews remains a reliable target for Lamar Jackson, drawing six targets and finding soft spots in zone coverage, though he offers limited yards after the catch.

Insight page

MarShawn Lloyd

NegativeUsage50:36

Marshawn Lloyd is a potential flex option in favorable matchups, but his 'dancey' running style and lack of pass-protection trust limit his ceiling to a non-RB2 role.

Insight page

Matthew Golden

PositiveBreakout55:51

Matthew Golden is emerging as an explosive alternative to Romeo Dobbs, potentially replacing his production as a fantasy-relevant wide receiver.

Insight page

Mike Gesicki

PositiveBreakout57:30

Mike Gesicki led the Bengals in receiving with five catches for 78 yards and a touchdown, emerging as a surprise focal point in the offense.

Insight page
PositiveUsage101:06

Gesicki was a focal point of the Bengals' quick-passing game, with most of his production coming from the slot. He also secured a touchdown while lined up out wide, indicating he was a primary target in the middle of the field.

Insight page

Nico Collins

PositiveUsage26:41

Nico Collins remains the clear alpha in the Texans' wide receiver room, being the only player to exceed a 70% route share (88%). Harmon notes that the entire passing offense revolves around him, with other receivers serving as role players in his orbit.

Insight page

Rashod Bateman

PositiveUsage42:16

Rashad Bateman is effectively off the fantasy radar after recording zero receptions on just one target in a game where other Ravens receivers were sidelined.

Insight page

Rome Odunze

NegativeUsage19:08

Rome Odunze had a quiet debut with two catches for 52 yards, including a 47-yard reception. His limited production is attributed to a lack of practice time and the team's run-heavy game plan, but he is expected to remain a starter.

Insight page

Roschon Johnson

NegativeUsage5:23

Roschon Johnson saw 38.7% of backfield opportunities but notably ran more routes (16) than DeAndre Swift (11). His late 61-yard run inflated his production, but he remains the secondary option in the rotation.

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

NegativeUsage106:05

Barkley showed flashes of elite ability with a 42-yard run, but the Eagles' new rushing scheme struggled early, with Barkley hit behind the line of scrimmage on seven of his first 12 carries. Harmon remains optimistic but notes the blocking must improve.

Insight page

Stefon Diggs

NegativeUsage112:35

Diggs recorded four catches for 55 yards and a touchdown. While he showed veteran route-running ability, he also had two drops and a celebration penalty that negatively impacted the team's ability to tie the game.

Insight page

Tee Higgins

NegativeBust100:25

Higgins is noted alongside Ja'Marr Chase as having a non-existent performance in Week 1, with Harmon questioning if it was merely early-season rust or a deeper issue with the Bengals' passing game.

Insight page

Terry McLaurin

NegativeUsage111:16

McLaurin struggled to get involved, not recording a catch until late in the fourth quarter. The Commanders' offense struggled against the Eagles' defense, limiting his opportunities.

Insight page

Travis Etienne

NegativeUsage35:30

Hayden Winks labels this a "stock down" performance for Travis Etienne, who split early-down work with Kendra Miller and saw his snap share impacted by the rookie. While Etienne recorded a career-high nine targets due to negative game script, the loss of goal-line work and early-down snaps to Miller is a significant concern.

Insight page

Trey McBride

PositiveProjection117:45

McBride remains a reliable fantasy asset, performing well in the Cardinals' offense and making tough catches in a dominant Week 1 win.

Insight page

Tucker Kraft

NegativeUsage51:58

Tucker Kraft is currently in a part-time rotation, running only 20 of 46 routes, making him an upside TE2 rather than a reliable weekly starter.

Insight page

Zay Flowers

PositiveBreakout38:41

Zay Flowers had a dominant first half with 5 catches for 150 yards and a touchdown before exiting with a hamstring strain. His usage was elite, featuring play-action deep shots and choice routes out of the backfield, showing he is moving at a different speed than the rest of the field.

0:00Oh yes, we are back with the best fantasy football game by game recap show in the world.
0:05And it's even better this year because I've got some buddies to join us.
0:09Matt Harmon, Ray Garvin, our new co-hosts, co-workers, everything of the sort here at Yahoo.
0:14Hayden, but first I'm gonna throw it to you.
0:17You know, we do months and months, almost 100 episodes this summer of research.
0:21And it's very cool in week one when Khalif Raymond goes eight catches for 84 yards and Jamar Chase two catches for 12 yards.
0:28How do you feel? Well, if you told me the Bears would have 59 points, you'd probably be taking Luther Byrd and
0:34Colson Loveland in what the first and second round.
0:37And then of course we actually get the results and we realize half of our takes are wrong.
0:42Yes. Well, let's not waste any more time and dive first into that game that Ray has a hold of as you
0:49know, Ben Johnson a couple weeks ago in a press conference.
0:52Ray said that he wants his offense to set the NFL record in points for a season.
0:57That would be the 2013 Denver Broncos at 39 per contest.
1:00Ray, Caleb Williams, Ben Johnson and company dropped 59 on this Carolina Panthers defense.
1:04How they do it. Can we just start by saying, wow, what a freaking game.
1:0959 points by the Bears and you talk about how they did it.
1:13Josh, 70 plays 552 yards, 7.9 yards per play for the Chicago Bears.
1:17And if you would have told me that was going to happen coming into the week, I'd have been like Loveland smash.
1:23So doing's a smash burden smash. I think they combined for a grand total of seven perceptions between the three pass catchers there.
1:30But just Chicago, this was such a great game plan by Ben Johnson and the Bears.
1:35You would think that they just went around and threw the ball all over the place.
1:3955% rush rates of 44% pass rate, 48% neutral pass rate for the Bears.
1:43They had two 100 yard rushers in this matchup and they set a litany of records.
1:4896 combined points, most NFL history for week one.
1:51The Bears 291 rushing yards and six touchdowns since 1999.
1:54This is only the second team performance combining six plus rushing TDs with two 100 yard rushers joining the 2017 Saints.
2:00I mean, it was, I'm just watching it y'all.
2:03And I'm just going to say this, just watching the game, watching the way that Caleb played, the way that they ran the ball.
2:10This didn't look like a year three, like kind of level up for Caleb Williams.
2:14I mean, he looked in total command of this offense and it looks like he's playing like it's one weekend y'all.
2:20But MVP caliber football, just the command, the poise, their ability to run the ball.
2:25Outstanding performance from Chicago's offensive side of the ball.
2:28Let's not, let's not overlook the fact that they also gave up 52 points on the defensive side, but offensively flawless game plan by Ben Johnson.
2:35It's going to feel like a big 12 offense and defense for Chicago.
2:39I like starting with the running backs here. I'm looking at it.
2:43Both of them had over two yards before contact one.
2:46That's an issue for the Carolina Panthers. They spent a lot of money on that defensive line and linebacker group this offseason.
2:52The Bears still putting it together. A question to you, Ray.
2:55If Deandre Swift and common, I kind of do this drive by drive rotation.
2:59I'm assuming that's what happened here. If the Bears really are a top three offense this year, like can we get DeAndre
3:06Swift as like a top 12 fantasy running back here?
3:09He was drafted just outside that, but he was somebody climbing up ADP.
3:13And by the end of it, everyone kind of felt really good about him as a mid to high fourth rounder.
3:19Yeah, Swift 61% of the backfield opportunities compared to 38.7% for common guy.
3:23The interesting thing Hayden was when non guy ran five more routes than Swift 16 routes on the day to 11 routes for Deandre Swift.
3:30So you would think that that number would be flipped a little bit, but the way that they blocked, I mean, they completely dominated the line of scrimmage.
3:38Caleb Williams was not under pressure a lot in this game.
3:42I think there's some more upside to Deandre Swift's game than maybe we accounted for coming into the season.
3:47So I'm going to say the way that we saw them play the balance of the attack and I know it felt
3:54like kind of they alternated drives, but it was a lot of Swift early again 61% of the backfield opportunities.
4:00Yeah, if you drafted Swift, you got to be feeling pretty damn good right now after this game.
4:05Yeah, I mean that 61 yarder for common on guy happened super late Matt.
4:09I mean for me the question is how does the defense stop this version if the Bears are going on and on
4:16and on about this like Caleb Williams obviously as a thrower was fantastic Matt.
4:20I'm sure you saw like the alley you pass he had to roam with Dunsay along the sideline Luther Burden can now
4:26sit in zone coverage and win in isolated situations.
4:29But what stood out to me was Caleb Williams also in a 29 yard touchdown run that he avoid sacks avoids pressure
4:36shows some like real juice to his game. So Matt while we argued about all these pieces around Caleb Williams and then
4:42the day I felt like this was the Caleb Williams show with four total touchdowns.
4:46He had a hand in I would totally agree with that and the bit that I got to see from this game.
4:53He looked so fast when he would take like when he was decisive and got out of there, you know, he talked
4:59about this that he lost some weight in the offseason wanted to trim down to be more explosive.
5:05And I mean one week in definitely check that box to me, but Ray.
5:09I mean listen, I got to ask you wide receiver one overall on the week Jalen Coker.
5:14I mean can we have a moment for that?
5:17Like let's let's not take it away from me here like five minutes into the show.
5:21I realize it is the carnival team, you know shout out Scott Pino ski and he and I were talking about that today.
5:28We've officially decided the Bears are the carnival team of this season.
5:32So all that caveat, you know mentioned here. I'm still pretty impressive performance for our guy Jalen Coker, right?
5:37Yeah, I'm gonna be real with y'all. I'm gonna be real with y'all just watching the flow of the game watching those two wide receivers on the field.
5:46If you wouldn't have told me one was a first round pick and one was an undrafted free agent.
5:51I mean Coker looked great full stop. Yes, full stop.
5:54I mean he looked better. He looked better than I expected in Matt.
5:58You know, we talked about it early in the in the offseason.
6:02I was big on Coker. I had him projected quite high.
6:05He looked like the best wide receiver on the field.
6:08Now Jalen Johnson was covering Tedron McMillan quite a bit.
6:11T. Mac had an issue where he got the ball punched out and Coker looked great.
6:15And the way they moved him around, I I'm very I'm cautiously optimistic on them moving forward and and and Coker being
6:22as big of a factor in that offense. But there's nobody else a consequence man.
6:26I know Waller got a few early Mitchell Evans got in his own later, but it was they combined for 50% of
6:33the target share is Jalen Coker and Tedron McMillan.
6:36So it was a concentrated offense. But Jalen Coker looked fantastic full stop.
6:39Ray, I'll take that a step further. I'm going to go back and rewatch this game, but just watching it live.
6:46Jalen Coker was simply creating more separation than Tedron McMillan was.
6:49And, you know, I think was one of the under discussed topics of the offseason.
6:53And we love to focus on these tiny little tidbits that team at gain 12 to 15 pounds this offseason has impacted his separation skills.
7:01You know, meanwhile, Jalen Coker wins on a, you know, 51 yard touchdown down the field and kind of an out and up situation.
7:08Brad Idzik loved that he was, you know, putting the really the game in Bryce Young's hands early and often and allowing
7:14him to throw down the field and take the shot plays.
7:18It took these offenses, the Panthers offense, too many weeks, too many months to do that in previous years.
7:23And Ray, I thought Bryce Young stepped up to the plate, had a fantastic game, all things considered.
7:28361 yards, three touchdowns, and then another rushing score on the ground when he juked the heck out of Jalen Johnson at the touchdown line.
7:36Josh, Bryce Young looked great. Bryce Young didn't give up 50 points, all right?
7:40And the one interception came with 20 seconds left in the half and he was targeting Jalen Coker on that play to
7:46try to get him the ball to push the ball downfield right before half.
7:51But you're talking about a team 66% neutral pass rate on the day for the Carolina Panthers.
7:56If there were one thing that I wish they could have committed to a little bit more was the ground game.
8:02They did not run the ball much in this one, but Hayden, you might like this one because I know you're a big Chuba guy.
8:09It was like a lot of Chuba Hubbard. I know Jonathan Brooks had the big play down the field, but we're talking
8:16about 13 carries to six for Hubbard to Jonathan Brooks and then 26 routes for Chuba Hubbard to only six for Jonathan Brooks.
8:23And if Bryce would have hit him on another wheel route, he probably had another 30, 40 yards down the field.
8:29But the backfield, if they can run the ball a little bit more, find some more balance.
8:34I'm not there yet to say Bryce Young has arrived in year four and he's going to level up to another degree.
8:40But it definitely felt like in this game without the presence of a wide receiver three and a tight end of consequence
8:47that he can support McMillan and Jalen Coker both.
8:49Yeah, Jalen Coker once he was a full time player last year, he was about the wide receiver 34 nine and a
8:56half PPR points per game in that contest is another win for him.
9:00I will say with the Bears, I think the drop off from Jalen Johnson to their rest of the secondary until Kyler Gordon those guys gets back.
9:08It's something that we have to know in our matchups column and obviously the Jalen Coker double move was against Tyreek Stevenson.
9:14There's something to keep in the back of my mind not taking anything away from Coker.
9:19I would say like the other big thing with that rotation that was surprising to me is I thought it was gonna
9:26be Chuba as a starter, but I thought it was gonna be Jonathan Brooks kind of like the secondary role on passing situations on third and fourth downs.
9:34It was Chuba Hubbard eight snaps in Jonathan Brooks only one of the snaps.
9:38So Jonathan Brooks was like an early down kind of change of pace guy.
9:42He was not this kind of like base down back pass down back.
9:46That was a lie. It's pretty much all Chuba Hubbard until proven otherwise to the point if you guys got Chuba Hubbard
9:52somewhere in like the hundreds, I think this might be one of the best picks that you guys could have made.
9:59Yeah, two touchdowns for Chuba Hubbard on the day.
10:01The 48 yard reception for Jonathan Brooks was another fantastic off structure play by Bryce Young where he basically points him up
10:08the field up the sideline throws it on an absolute laser of him down the field kind of in a tight window area.
10:15So that was a really nice connection there on top of it.
10:18Just final point on Jalen Coker. Last year, he was supposed to be a starting to wide receiver set player for this
10:25team then suffers the quad injury that lasts for like six to eight weeks.
10:29And Matt, you know this I'm like the final 40 targets of the season, including the playoffs.
10:34Jalen Coker has simply outperformed Teddero McMillan on that stuff.
10:37Yeah, and I understand what you're saying Hayden about the Bears defense being questionable on the back end.
10:42The Panthers also get the Atlanta Falcons next week.
10:45You know, this team has torn up the Atlanta Falcons secondary in the past.
10:49So this might be one of those situations, Matt, where we go from, hey, awesome playoff game, 100 plus yards and two
10:55scores to another awesome first week to actually starting Jalen Coker in the flex next week.
11:00I don't see why not, like especially if the offense is going to push the ball down the field.
11:06Bryce Young was sixth in the average air yards per pass attempt this week among quarterbacks.
11:10Like if he's going to do that, then yeah, it's wheels up for Coker because I said this during the offseason.
11:17Like this is one of the best young receivers in football.
11:20There's no need like UDFA cutesy caveats or anything.
11:23He's just been straight up a baller since he's hit the field.
11:26Right. Just a couple of quick notes in this.
11:29Darren Waller basically put Jatavian Sanders on the inactive list.
11:32Darren Waller had two catches for 28 yards, also had an end zone catch that was called back for a touchdown.
11:38And I think a really ticky tacky offensive pass interference penalty.
11:41Ray, I do want to ask you quickly just about the Bears receivers because Luther Burden pops up for five for 63.
11:48Romadun's eight, two for 52 with an awesome 47 yarder along the right sideline.
11:52We mentioned that Khalif Raymond eight for eight, 84.
11:55And that leaves us with nothing for Colson Loveland on two targets.
11:58A big, fat goose egg. I know you haven't gone back and rewatched the tape or any of that stuff.
12:04But how the heck does Colson Loveland, who was drafted the highest of any of these pass catchers, end up with nothing?
12:10I honestly have nothing for you, man. I've got nothing for you.
12:14It was very obvious at the beginning of that game that Cole Komet was going to be a part of the offense.
12:21Whether you like it or not, he's on the field.
12:23They were motioning him out of the backfield. They were motioning him into the slot.
12:28Like he was a part of the offense. Colson Loveland, they tried to hit him.
12:32When they got down the goal line, it was probably, I think, in the second quarter.
12:37He was open for a touchdown. Caleb Williams missed him.
12:40It was an interception that was overturned doing an offsides to Derrick Brown.
12:44It just didn't look like he was a part of the offensive game plan in this one, which it's a little concerning.
12:50Our man, Zane Dayani, is that his last name?
12:53If I'm butchering Zane's last name. Here's what he said.
12:56Here's what he said about the Bears. Colson Loveland, 92% route share.
13:0013%, 13.5%, 13.5 ADOT for nearly all one tight end sets.
13:03In two tight end sets, 34% slot rate. Luther Burden, 71% route share.
13:07A lot of his stuff was a lot shorter.
13:0950% route share in two wide receiver sets. And then Roma Dunze, 58% route share.
13:1463% in two wide receiver sets. I think my takeaway from this one, y'all, is I don't really know what to make
13:20of the usage of the Bears wide receivers because none of them really had the type of game that anybody was anticipating.
13:27And yet they put up 60 damn points. So it's one of these things where you're probably going to play all three again.
13:34You're absolutely going to play all three again. I hate to say it's incomplete when they put up 59 points, but I
13:40don't know what we take from this moving forward.
13:43Do I think Loveland is a zero moving forward?
13:45Absolutely not. Do I think Rome's only going to have two receptions?
13:49No. Luther Burden fumbled the ball early in the game.
13:52So it was just, it was clear that this game plan was establish it, establish it, establish it.
13:57And Caleb Williams, his threat with the legs. I think that kind of hurts the receivers and the tight ends to a degree at times.
14:05Josh, I would note that I feel like we do need to get a sample here when Roman Dunze has like a full week of practice.
14:12You know, he told me in January and February of last year that the thing that he felt was most disruptive to
14:19him was not missing, like not the injury playing through it last year, but actually just the routine and the disruption of the practice time.
14:26So I think that's probably something we need here.
14:29And as for Loveland, like I watched both of his targets that Caleb Williams delivered to him.
14:34Those are probably like his two worst throws of the day, just in terms of ball placement and accuracy.
14:39So that's just a, I mean, look, you don't want two targets anyways, still a little bit just unfortunate there.
14:45But I would say that the guy that has probably, if you're, and I'm not concerned about any of these guys, but
14:52you know, the most concerning maybe usage was Luther Burden, who wasn't like a full-time player in a lot of the two receiver set stuff.
14:59So that's the one I think we need to dig into the most for stats versus film later.
15:05And let me just say this, y'all. Olamide Zaccheaus was getting targets last year and he had a specified role.
15:11I'm not predicting that Khalif Raymond leads this team and targets an opportunity, but it felt a hell of a lot more
15:17than just like coincidence or luck that he got the opportunity that he did.
15:21Like he did not run the same route as Luther Burden or Romo Dunze.
15:25It felt like he's got some kind of role in this offense that nobody predicted would be there.
15:31Ray, just to kind of wrap this one up, Khalif Raymond, 95% of three wide receiver sets he was on the field for.
15:37That's a very valuable role. That's the exact role that you guys were talking about.
15:42The new name that was not expecting, Jaday Walker.
15:45He led all Bears wide receivers in the non-three wide receiver set snaps.
15:4871% of those went to him. I think that when Romo Dunze goes to full-time, Walker snaps will come down.
15:54But Walker was actually the one that was getting in the way of Luther Burden in this game.
16:00So just something to watch, something that I would guess nobody was really expecting.
16:04I'll just end this by pointing a finger at the Panthers defense coordinator, Edgero Evero.
16:08He has some questions to answer for here. Okay?
16:11I mean, this is the same DC that two seasons ago coached the unit that allowed the most points in NFL history.
16:17All I have heard ever since then is, oh, he's well-respected in the league.
16:21And they just believe that once he gets more defensive personnel, that this defense is going to turn it around.
16:27And he should be on head coaching lists. And, you know, he changes the coverage the most between pre-snap and post-snap.
16:34Who cares? The dude sucks at his job. Okay?
16:36Get him out of here. A team, an offense that posts 31 points in the opening three quarters should win a game 80% of the time.
16:44And his defense allowed 59 points in this game.
16:47Get out. I'm sick of it. It is just incredible.
16:50I understand there are some other plays like Derek Brown on the, you know, roughing the passer and Jimmy Horn, muffing the
16:56punt and all that type of stuff. Your defense wasn't ready for the game.
17:00It's that simple. And it hasn't been ready for four years.
17:03Simple ass. All right. Not wrong. Next up. Speaking of defense, it was questionable in this one.
17:08Shockingly, Harmon, as the Buffalo Bills beat the Houston Texans on the road, 36 to 31.
17:13Did not have this Texans defense in mind to allow 36 points on the board.
17:18And Matt, I look at the box score. Duncan Cade, 5 or 130.
17:21DJ Moore, 5, 101. Brandon Beans, big moves. The receiver room certainly hit here in week one.
17:26One of the 2026 season. Yeah. The big takeaway, I think, is that both of these offenses looked really good.
17:32And shout out to Joe Brady, popping his shirt off in the locker room, letting the white boy chain hang out.
17:39I mean, there were some good vibes for the Buffalo Bills in this game.
17:43And I mean, a lot of it was some of the things you highlighted there were right away.
17:48I will say it felt a little bit like they needed to kind of settle into the offense here with Joe Brady and the boys.
17:55But, you know, one thing that caught my eye right away is 36 points against the Houston Texans.
18:01According to NFL Pro, that is the most a D'Amico Ryan's led defense has given up since his first season on the job in 2023.
18:08And this is a defense that's given Josh Allen a lot of trouble in their last two meetings.
18:1313.5 adjusted yards per attempt in this game. It helps to have receivers who can get open down the field, it turns out.
18:20And not only that, but it also kind of allowed them to get Khalil Shakir loose early for two catches for 45 yards on his first two targets.
18:29And those are not like Khalil Shakir catch and run opportunities.
18:32That was kind of a continuation from their first preseason game where Shakir was used more down the field.
18:37And I think his two targets after that were or his two catches after that were both screens and more typical Khalil Shakir things.
18:45But, yeah, I mean, it was DJ Moore who had four catches of 10 plus yards down the field.
18:5081% route participation led the team. He had like his touchdown.
18:53His first catch was like a play action skinny post, like down the field, exactly what you'd think.
18:59And he didn't have a catch until the second quarter of this game.
19:03And then as soon as like that connection started heating up, Josh Allen just was going after him again and again.
19:09Now his touchdown was a little bit of a questionable gamble by Reed Blankenship on that one.
19:14It's tight along the sideline. Reed tries to go for the pick and then, you know, just DJ Moore scampers the rest of the way.
19:21But immediately you felt the difference with him in there.
19:24And the other guy, too, is Dalton Kincaid, who was just smoking defenders down the football field in the second half of this one.
19:3177% snap share. That's the eighth highest of his career.
19:34Most of any wide receiver and tight end on the team.
19:37He had three catches on three targets for 113 yards when lined up out wide.
19:42I mean, it finally looked like not Dalton Kincaid to the theory, but like Dalton Kincaid, the actualized version of the idea
19:48was on the field for the Buffalo Bills. So, yeah, it was a I will say Josh Allen almost like threw this game away.
19:55Game ending INT on what was just an absolute like, why are you throwing that thing up just for grabs for Josh Palmer?
20:02But if you threw that tweet out there, you immediately regretted it because then he throws the strike on a post route
20:09touchdown to the same player, Josh Palmer, to eventually win this game.
20:12Matt, we call that Dalton Kincaid versus USC. That's the thing we're aiming for here.
20:17But just looking at the box score here, it looks like it was a way more dropbacks versus designed carries.
20:23And last year was about even split. You just never knew.
20:26Was that a Sean McDermott thing or was that an actual Joe Brady thing now that he's in the head coaching chair?
20:32Like, is this something where like obviously you're facing the Texans pass rushers, which it seems like they held up pretty well
20:39in the 27 percent pressure rate, which is really good given the defense and those corners.
20:44And they still went back and dropped back all that time.
20:47Did it feel different just watching like James Cook versus Josh Allen, the rest of these guys?
20:52Yeah, definitely. And I mean, James Cook had a catch on the first drive, like one of the first two plays of
20:58the game, second play of the game, actually. And he went for, you know, fourth.
21:03Like it was just he was involved pretty early as a receiver in that way.
21:07He only has like three catches on the day.
21:10So it's not some crazy pass game role. But it was like the first inclination that, oh, something is a little bit different here.
21:17And that was what we talked about with what this team had been kind of whispering out of camp in the preseason
21:24was that they wanted to throw the football more.
21:26And even when you like they first hire Joe Brady as the head coach, that was kind of the early justification by
21:33beat reporters covering the team was, well, you know, no, Joe Brady doesn't want to run the football like that.
21:39That was more of a Sean McDermott thing. And you didn't know if that was kind of spin with an organization that
21:45was, you know, a little bit questionable in the in the in the press conference talking about firing Sean McDermott and the whole deal.
21:52But it certainly looked like the actualized reality of that here in this game.
21:56Matt, need to ask you on the opposite end here with the Houston Texans.
22:01CJ Stroud coming off some disastrous playoff performances. I would say the Bills are like a medium defense.
22:06We're not exactly sure what to expect with them now with Jim Leonard calling, you know, the plays for them.
22:12But he goes 26 to 38 to 74 to touchdowns.
22:15And as we know, Nico Collins is his go to man.
22:18But a whole bunch of people, I mean, almost a dozen of them catch passes in this contest.
22:23Just overall, what CJ Stroud do in his debut in 2026?
22:27I thought again, I feel good about both offenses coming out of this one.
22:31I do think it's easier to say Bill's offense faces against a good defense that we know is good and is mostly
22:37returning the same player, same coaches and the whole deal.
22:40And I think it's easier to take more positivity away from that one because, you know, like Hayden pointed out, they did keep those pass rushers at bay.
22:48It was like deep into this game before you really heard anything from Will Anderson and Daniel Hunter eventually made his presence known.
22:55But still, for the most part, like that's how that team felt with with the Bills defenses versus the Texans offense.
23:01I'm not saying like this was a bad debut by Jim Leonard or anything, but man, they really kept playing like outside leverage on this team.
23:09And CJ Stroud went 14 of 19 on 100 for 173 yards on in breaking throws in this game.
23:15Like they attacked the middle of the field consistently.
23:17The biggest takeaway, though, to me, we'll come back to the past game.
23:21I do want to talk about Nico Collins a little bit more in this game.
23:26But to me, the biggest note was actually in the run game where Dave Montgomery scores three touchdowns.
23:31That's great. That's cool. Obviously, if you started him in fantasy, that feels pretty good.
23:35It did feel a little bit like, oh, geez, we're sure like Dave Montgomery is not going to be a good player for this Houston Texans football team.
23:44But the bigger one to me is that the rushing success rate for the Texans in this game, 48.3 percent.
23:50That's the fourth best out of 58 regular season and playoff games for this team since 2023 and 2023 to 2025.
23:56I said this a lot. They were the 31st ranked rushing success rate team since they drafted CJ Stroud strictly on running back runs.
24:03So they they implemented a lot more heavy personnel.
24:06Dave Montgomery had like three straight carries on his first touchdown out of heavy personnel.
24:10The second touchdown comes out of a 12 personnel look like this did feel like a different run game for Houston than what we've seen.
24:17Certainly last year and even in some of the Joe Mixon years.
24:21Yeah, right. Hand up. I was one of the people that was bringing up some maybe dead zone running back profile ish from Dave Montgomery.
24:28But this is certainly an awesome debut with three touchdowns that puts a sock in my mouth for at least the next couple of weeks.
24:36Well, I mean, Josh, I kind of wanted to ask Carmen this because I didn't watch a ton of this game.
24:42Right. I was locked in on the Jets and the Titans, which we'll get to later.
24:47But when I see when I see when I see three touchdowns, I feel great.
24:51When I see 20 carries for 60 yards, three yards in attempt and you tell me the Buffalo defense isn't great.
24:57Like, I'm just I just want to know how it felt watching him.
25:01Did it feel like a grind? Did he look like, oh, man, like we've got a stud here?
25:06Or was it just was it just one of those things where if you're going to give him 20 carries, like it's
25:13probably going to you're going to get some fantasy production here because I'm just looking at the raw numbers.
25:19And I'm like, yeah, it doesn't look that great from Montgomery.
25:22But I mean, we love the three touchdowns, no doubt.
25:25Like, what did you see? Just the eye test, Matt.
25:28That's why I wanted to bring the success rate stats.
25:31I think it shows the story a little bit better than strict yards per carry because a lot of his 149 short yardage.
25:38Yeah, a lot of Montgomery's carries came in short yardage situations.
25:41Again, like I mentioned, like three straight at the goal line before he scores his first touchdown.
25:46So some of that just depresses the yards per carry.
25:49But yeah, I wouldn't say this looked like a, oh, boy, overwhelming run game.
25:53But we're talking about the bar for this team is literally at the floor.
25:57Like we just need them to not be the 31st ranked rushing team for them to actually move the football.
26:03And I think that did bleed into the passing game where they had more advantageous down and distance situations.
26:09So I just think that the whole offense felt a little bit more organized and cleaner than what we've seen out of Houston the last two years.
26:17Yeah, interesting, Matt. Based on the box, I wouldn't have guessed what Michael F.
26:21Florio is putting here on the screen with 51% snaps or D-Mont 49% Woody Marks, you know, nine carries 16 routes, 20
26:27carries 15 routes, all that type of stuff. But yeah, the box score tells us that near the goal line that is certainly D-Mont.
26:34I also want to ask about the wide receiver room, Matt, because this was a huge, you know, change in the preseason.
26:41Once Jaden Higgins went down, we always knew that Nico Collins is going to be, as you put up, the alpha wide receiver one for the Houston Texans.
26:49Is it as simple as you state here? Everything else, wide receiver two by committee, because we get Jalen Knoll, two for
26:5653, Dalton Schultz, four for 35, Xavier Hutchinson, three for 32.
26:59And then Kayshaun Boutte, one for 21. Yeah, everybody else kind of had their moments.
27:03Even this guy, Jared Wayne, was playing a decent bit and kind of as another almost like a Xavier Hutchinson clone, a little bit of a grinder blocker.
27:12Like he was the solo wide receiver in 13 personnel at times.
27:15Again, Xavier Hutchinson did sort of the dirty work special several times in this game.
27:20Jalen Knoll, wide open on a dig route on his first catch and then kind of a clutch third and three reception
27:26in the final minute of this game. But yeah, it wasn't a full time player.
27:30Nobody was a full time player. Nobody in the wide receiver room had a 70 percent route share except Nico Collins at 88 percent.
27:38And Kayshaun Booty, he had a 21 yard reception, kind of lost a contested pass along the sideline for one of his others.
27:44All the tight ends were involved. Like to me, this just the world revolves around Nico Collins, who had a productive day and drew another long pass interference.
27:53I should have mentioned DJ Moore had a bunch of hidden yards for the Buffalo Bills as well.
27:58He had several like pass interference, legal contact down the field plays in this one, too.
28:03So yeah, Collins was the everything revolves around him and everyone else is just kind of in the orbit.
28:08Matt, just closing out, wanted to ask you about the end of game sequence, really the final three plays, because Houston gets
28:15down first and goal to the nine yard line.
28:1725 seconds left on the clock. Is this just, you know, the Bills turning it on in the moment they have to where they get a sack?
28:25Then we go second and goal from the 18 in completion over to Nico Collins.
28:30And then we close it out with another sack fumble on third goal.
28:34Yeah, that was probably Stroud's worst moment of the game, which I mean, you know, wonderful.
28:38It's the one that loses the game, you know, not particularly ideal.
28:42But like I said, he was pretty clean all game and then kind of just makes a bad play worse where Trent
28:48Brown loses really quickly to Gregory Rousseau on the right tackle side.
28:52And then he just kind of gets a little careless with the football, as we'll talk about later.
28:57We call that the Baker Mayfield special. He had kind of one of those at the worst moment.
29:03Yeah. Interesting here for the Texans. I mean, they start with the Buffalo Bills and then the Cincinnati Bengals offense in week two.
29:09So hopefully they can rebound on that side and ask for the Bills.
29:13They face the Detroit Lions in week two. Man, oh man, we already have an awesome week two slate.
29:19Hayden. I mean, the timing is perfect. Let's flip it over to you with those Detroit Lions in overtime beating the New Orleans Saints 31 to 30.
29:27I was looking at box scores the entire time and it felt like for the first, you know, 45 minutes of this game.
29:34Tyler Shuck and Travis HN had a combined 38 yards.
29:37In the end, Tyler Shuck throws for 410 yards and three touchdowns and two interceptions.
29:41HN is still very minimal nine for 46. I don't know if you want to start there.
29:46Just the overall aspect of this game and how it played out and how we got into overtime with the Saints losing
29:53because they failed a two point conversion. Absolutely a tale of two house.
29:56We'll get to the Saints second here. Didn't want to talk about the Lions just because they won this game.
30:02Now, they really should have lost this game. There was kind of some controversy here with one of the refs play calls here.
30:09But with the offense, it just felt a lot more conservative than some of the previous Lions offenses out there.
30:15The offensive line was fantastic in this one. Only one pressure allowed, according to PFF right now.
30:20Jared Goff, though, 6.6 average depth of target. Everything felt underneath.
30:23Obviously, Jameer Gibbs goes crazy. It's going to be impossible to defend in fantasy.
30:28If you don't have them, good luck to you guys.
30:30But even in the dropbacks, there was a lot of underneath stuff to Amon Ra.
30:35His ADOT was 5.2 yards down the field. 36% target share for him.
30:39So I know it's the pet scene offense. Is that going to force a bunch of targets to the tight ends?
30:45Not necessarily. I think Sam Laporta had a very up-the-middle game for him.
30:49But Amon Ra St. Brown off-coverage touchdown, easy one.
30:51And then in overtime, a pick play where they got, I think it was Isaac Teslaw, to pick him for a little
30:58slant goal line touchdown for Amon Ra St. Brown.
31:01Jameer didn't really do a whole lot. There's a 3rd and 4 drop that cost him a first down.
31:06Maybe another drop on 3rd and 2. I'm guessing if we go back and watch the All-22, maybe he's running more clear-out routes.
31:13Early in the game, lots of two tight ends snaps.
31:16By the end of it, a lot more traditional stuff there.
31:19So really, nothing too concrete from the Lions' end, even though with a new play caller there, maybe a little bit more conservative.
31:26That said, this was a very automatic offense. Not a lot of explosives here.
31:30Just an offense that continued to just march down the football field.
31:34They did lose their left guard with an injury early in the first quarter.
31:38Yeah, Hayden, we have talked about teams already that are getting players involved that we didn't even know were on rosters.
31:44I feel like this Lions team, though, is going to be the most straightforward one that we'll see all season long, where
31:51it's Jameer Gibbs with, I mean, he had 29 carries and then another five targets on top of it.
31:56I mean, opening a season with 34 overall opportunities is insane stuff.
32:00And then it's Amon Ra St. Brown, Sam Laporte, and Jameson Williams.
32:03And that's it. I mean, this is the most predictable offense in the NFL.
32:07And I'll say it's going to be the most predictable defense.
32:11This secondary, and we can just get right to the Saints, was atrocious for the Lions.
32:15They're missing both of their safeties right now. And I think once those guys get back, maybe things get a little bit squared away here.
32:23But like Rakia Sin, he was leaving the game.
32:25Everybody was getting picked apart. Tyler Shuck, for the first half of the game, they were like sliding protections the wrong way.
32:32They were like running routes where like nobody was even near where the ball was placed.
32:37There was a lot of attempts where Tyler Shuck was throwing the ball and the wide receivers weren't even turned around.
32:43Bryce Lance, a very inexperienced player, obviously, in his first game.
32:46He was a big part of this offense. CJ Donaldson.
32:49I have never heard of you, CJ Donaldson. This guy was out there all the time in pass protection instead of Travis H.
32:56So there's a lot more like new faces in this one.
32:59It felt really sloppy for the first half. And I was tweeting some things.
33:03And then the second half of this game, Tyler Shuck read the tweets.
33:07And then he was absolutely bawling, throwing the ball down the football field.
33:11Chris Olave, 10 receptions, 182 yards. A lot of them were down the football field.
33:15He only left the game three times due to injury.
33:18So that was a win for Chris Olave. Only three times.
33:22Only three times. His phone was updating all day.
33:24Literally. Literally. In and out, in and out. He's either making a big play or he's in the medical tent.
33:30It was nuts. And sometimes it was both. It was because he made the big play.
33:35That's why he ended up in the medical tent.
33:38So it was a wild game. Devon Bailey was very much involved.
33:41He has a goal line touchdown on a fade route for him.
33:45I think that he's someone that kind of not all the way to Jalen Coker's.
33:49Coker's just a better player. But someone that is for sure almost every down player on a team that can get into some shootouts.
33:56He's like interesting as a pure like dart throw type.
33:59And then Jawan Johnson did. He was one of these guys.
34:02Did absolutely nothing. And then on the very last couple plays of the game, he scores a touchdown to tie it.
34:09He has a huge play to attempt the Saints to have a game winning field goal and a dig route over the middle.
34:15And then also has a big play in overtime where they eventually get Noah Fant into the end zone.
34:21There's a couple sequences that I really want to talk about just for NFL at large.
34:26The Saints, they in overtime, they go for two.
34:28They don't get the ball to Chris Olave. They're trying to get a little pick route to him.
34:34I think that Chuck could have forced it to him, but did chose not to.
34:38The ball goes out of bounds. I liked that decision.
34:41Unfortunately for the Saints, there's this really odd rule where Jared Goff gets strip sacked.
34:46The refs say that he was intending to throw the ball forward.
34:49The ball does go backwards. The Saints pick the ball up.
34:52Would have been a touchdown for them if that play was called the opposite way, which my entire adult life, I've been watching football.
34:59And whenever the ball goes backwards, it seems like the other team gets the ball.
35:04That's how the game works. Not this time. And that cost the Saints here.
35:08So multiple opportunities to pull off an upset. I would say an impressive game for the Saints because Staley didn't allow explosives on his side of the ball.
35:16But at the same time, it took a full half to get this offense going.
35:21But once they did, it was just explosive after explosive.
35:24Wow. Wow. Okay. We've talked about all this, Josh.
35:26We talked about all this. And I'm just looking at like Kendra Miller.
35:30Hayden? Yeah, bro. Kendra Miller. I know he scored the touchdown, but nine carries to a chance nine.
35:36And I get the game script was very negative.
35:38But it was like even with all the bad that was happening, New Orleans was always in it.
35:44What the hell was that about? Kendra Miller actually getting touches on the field?
35:48Yeah, this is probably the biggest fantasy takeaway because I was just stunned that Kendra Miller was playing so often.
35:54It was CJ Donaldson and like pass protection. By the way, that's a undrafted rookie.
35:58I believe I think it was the RB3 for the Buckeyes comes in there with a very legitimate role, maybe like a version of the Alvin Kamara role.
36:06But it was actually Kendra Miller and like Travis HN like splitting early down work.
36:11Now, at the same time, Travis HN, because of game scripts, and this is going to happen whenever you face the Detroit Lions, a career high nine targets.
36:19They go for 32 yards. They're scoreless. But a career high targets for Travis HN here.
36:24I would still call this a stock down for him just because they were this game wasn't like that crazy in terms
36:30of game script is a wonky game. But the game was like fairly tight for a lot of it.
36:36Kendra Miller was like literally taking snaps away from Travis HN.
36:39His touchdown was at the eight yard line. But even then, you're like, why is Kendra Miller out there at the eight yard line for a touchdown opportunity?
36:47So I would say one of the most surprising outcomes with Alvin Kamara not even playing.
36:52Yeah, I mean, we've seen other running backs that were either traded for or signed this offseason get almost all the work.
36:59And for Travis HN not to get all the work in his debut after signing for that big contract, I think is really massive.
37:06And Hayden, like you said, if they didn't rediscover they could catch passes in the second half, he wouldn't have those nine
37:12targets right when they're working from behind. And then next week they face the Baltimore Ravens away.
37:17So that's pretty terrifying if Travis HN is not getting, you know, 70 percent of the work.
37:22And I don't know why they would change that from week one to week two.
37:27I will say this. We talk about neutral pace all the time, and there's a reason for that.
37:32The Saints had 90 plays on offense. Obviously, you go to overtime and you're in trail, but offenses that play with that
37:39amount of pace, you can kind of back way into some fantasy production.
37:42So at least you have like that as some level of a floor for all these type of players.
37:48Football is back, which means the lineup debates are already heating up.

38:26All right. Speaking of the Ravens, I'll close out this first grouping with Baltimore beating the Indianapolis Colts 41 to 23.
38:32The debut of Jesse Minter and especially the opposite coordinator Declan Doyle could not have gone any better for the Ravens.
38:38I mean, the first player to shout out is our guy.
38:41And I mean, all of our guys. Save flowers.
38:44Five catches, 150 yards and a touchdown at halftime.
38:47Unfortunately, that's when his game ended due to a hamstring strain.
38:50But his usage has to get really everyone excited.
38:52Like the first snap on the Ravens offense after an awesome return was play action under center, boot to the left.
38:59Zay Flowers for 49 yards. Later on, Declan Doyle put him attached to Lamar Jackson in the backfield on a second and nine.
39:05He was uncovered due to blitzers on this like choice route.
39:09And then he just runs it after the catch for 54 yards.
39:12I mean, he was moving at a different speed than anyone else on NFL field.
39:17He looked the best he ever has. And hopefully I can say that again once he returns to the field from his injury.
39:23As for Derrick Henry, the running back on the day, 24 carries, 144 yards, three touchdowns.
39:28Now he is third all time in rushing touchdowns in NFL history.
39:32All time, Derrick Henry is. I mean, we are witnessing history here in the making.
39:36He is immortal. He looks like he's 27 years of age.
39:39And I thought Declan Doyle really did a fantastic job with his partnership with Lamar Jackson on some like zone read actions.
39:46He got him pointed to the edge. He even drew up a 19 yard screen for him.
39:51And I'll just close this out with Lamar Jackson.
39:54First drive cap with the rushing score inside the five yard line.
39:57He only had two rushing scores all of last season.
40:00This is, again, a new offensive line in many ways, a new play caller.
40:04And I thought Lamar looked comfortable. He looked poised.
40:07He looked calm on the road. And that's really all you can ask for in a debut with so many new pieces around him.
40:14Yeah. How many of those rush attempts were like design stuff versus him scrambling around?
40:18And like, does he like look like the fully healthy Lamar Jackson here?
40:22Like the one that can go like toe to toe with Josh Allen for a season?
40:27Yep. Fully healthy. A couple of them were designed.
40:30The other ones were scrambles where he was doing his best impression of Neo and, you know, avoiding arm length tackles and,
40:36you know, backing up, then moving forward, then not running people to the edge and all that type of stuff.
40:42He was sacked twice. I believe he also maybe fumbled on a sack on top of it.
40:47Yeah, it was a layout to lot to sack that Forrest Buckner picked up.
40:51But Lamar was pinpoint. And this, you know, jump from 31 points in the first half.
40:56It really stalled once they flowers went down at halftime.
40:59And also Jacoby Lane missed the second half. Jacoby Lane left with a wrist injury after basically getting three red zone targets on the same series.
41:07One went for a touchdown that was called back due to a holding.
41:10Then he got another one that got them down to about the four yard line and then ended that with an incomplete pass in the end zone.
41:18But once, you know, the top two wide receivers went out, it wasn't until a 53 yard catch and is only one
41:25of the day to Chris Moore that really reignited this offense back to score the 10 points to really put this one away.
41:32Yeah, Chris Moore in the year 2026. That's, you know, that's maybe not what you want.
41:37Devontae Walker was injured coming into this game. Elijah Surratt was a healthy scratch.
41:41But I mean, Josh, three touchdowns for Derrick Henry.
41:43What did I tell you, bro? You know what in Buffalo?
41:47I said he's going to have double digit touch.
41:49He's got double digit touchdowns in his back pocket.
41:52Yes. Coming into the season. We're 30% of the way there.
41:55How about that? We already are. And if he does that, I mean, it's an insane list of like Jerry Rice and
42:02Emmitt Smith that he joins as again, like the best to ever do it.
42:06Matt, I do want to put this back on you, though, because even when Zay Flowers and Jacoby Lane miss an entire
42:12half of action and Chris Moore goes one for 53.
42:15LaJante Wester goes two for 15. I see all the way at the bottom.
42:19Rashad Bateman, one target, zero reception, zero yards. You can't even do it in that environment.
42:24We're not we're not doing Rashad Bateman anymore. OK, we're done with it.
42:28My therapist says I'm not allowed to talk about Rashad Bateman.
42:31I don't know if you heard that. So, yeah.
42:34Josh, let me ask you. Yeah, go ahead. Can I ask you this?
42:38Because we did talk about this on the data dump that over the last like three years, the wide receiver to wide
42:44receiver to in Baltimore averages like four targets per game.
42:47And I'm just looking at the box score. Nobody likes old man Mark Andrews, but I'm just looking at raw targets.
42:53And I see six there for Mark Andrews. And Lamar Jackson is one of the most efficient quarterbacks in NFL history.
43:00If we're looking for like a lower end tight end play, if Lane is out, if Bateman's going to be a zero.
43:06I mean, what did you see from Andrews on the field?
43:09Well, he looked like he has in the last couple of years, which isn't that bad in comparison, I think, to what
43:16the beat writers said about him in training camp, that it was a disaster and like his career might be coming to a conclusion.
43:23There was a bunch of like pre snap motion and misdirection again off play action.
43:27And I think that was kind of aiding Mark Andrews in terms of not having to beat man coverage because, you know,
43:34defenses will run a lot of zone, obviously against Lamar Jackson.
43:37And he's still just really good at finding these soft spots and soft areas and not offering much after the catch.
43:43But he was there. And even Matthew Hibner popped up for a catch for 13 yards on top of it.
43:49OK, quickly over to the Colts end of this.
43:52The first drive was simply outstanding. Like Shane Sykin sliced right through Jesse Minner's defense, just like he did last year against the Chargers.
43:59There were two key Josh Downs receptions on that drive.
44:02Third down conversions. The first one, third and three after an audible by Daniel Jones.
44:06It's a 25 yard shake route with plenty of yards after catch.
44:10And then later on, a 12 yard gain on third and eight after Josh Downs got motion.
44:15He opened the game. Shane Sykin, seven straight dropbacks.
44:18But after that opening drive touchdown, the drivers went interception, punt, punt, fumble and punt.
44:22And they were down 31 to 13 at half.
44:25So Jonathan Taylor still looked freaking awesome with 19 carries for 98 yards and two scores.
44:29Tyler Warren didn't get his touchdown until late. It kind of felt like he was the sacrificial player in this, almost having
44:36to stay closer to the line of scrimmage to really take account for everything that Jesse Minner was doing on the edges
44:42in terms of pressure looks and all that type of stuff.
44:46And then Alec Pierce had two downfield targets that were past breakups because it was perfect coverage by Marlon Humphrey and Nate Wiggins.
44:53And I kind of wonder if he maybe has lost five to 10 percent of his juice right now than other previous years, like last year.
45:00He'd be able to separate it and come down with those grabs, but does finish most of this at the end with four catches for 61 yards.
45:08I would take that as a win for Alec Pierce.
45:11Like as long as he didn't have a setback, he played about half of the routes there.
45:16And yeah, at least put some numbers out there.
45:19I feel like that's that's enough to keep me somewhat confident over the next couple of weeks that we can end up starting him looking in the numbers.
45:27Josh Downs, he did play in most of the non 11 personnel stuff.
45:31That's a that's that's pretty exciting. And then I think that's exciting until you look at two for 37 yards.
45:37Basically, I was going to say 48 to 54 snaps and got two for for 37 in a game that they lost by 18 points.
45:44It's a lot. Josh, how did Jamie Jones look?
45:47Yeah, what did Jones look like? Yeah, it's the first drive was so good that I was like, oh, man, this is
45:53right back where everyone was saying that this team is going to be.
45:57And then he I think through an awful interception on the second series where he tried to high low Roquan Smith and
46:04Roquan was like, no, I'm just going to stay in the middle of this and tip it to myself and come down with this catch.
46:11And there was very little movement from Daniel Jones on top of it.
46:15Jesse Minner has this defense flying around. You know, the edge rushers, the defensive tackles.
46:19Kyle Hamilton was, you know, a deep safety, a slot corner and then blitzing off the edge on top of it.
46:26So it just felt like this Colts offense was not ready for for what the defense brought to the table.
46:32And then Keenan Allen, I do want to say, played the second most snaps.
46:36But that was down at 36 of 54 among wide receivers.
46:39He had the first catch of the game. But yeah, I mean, just six for 32 might be something we kind of keep in mind here.
46:47And yeah, again, Tyler Warren played 50 of 54.
46:49Just not his day when it comes to being heavily involved from the start.
46:53OK. If there's no more questions, we'll keep it moving.
46:56Hayden, over to you. I mean, we've already talked about some and I mean, just a couple of the biggest shocks and surprises of the day.
47:04We were waiting on you to start this episode because I looked down and I could have sworn that the Packers were up by two for 59 minutes.
47:12And then they lose by 17 to the Minnesota Vikings.
47:1539 to 22. I didn't see a single second of this contest.
47:19How the heck did the Vikings with Carson Wentz as their starting quarterback beat the Packers by 17?
47:24Yeah, don't type in the floor right now on Twitter.
47:27Packers fans are completely irate. I totally get this one because the Packers felt like they were the better team for quite a while.
47:34The Vikings blitzed on 87 percent of the Packers dropbacks.
47:37Eighty seven percent. That has got to be some type of record.
47:41Yes. Now, the Packers knew this was coming. They face Brian Flores all the time.
47:45They were able to get a couple of explosives early on in the game.
47:49Christian Watson on an in cut. He kind of beats where the other linebackers supposed to be on a blitz route.
47:55He takes it was easily the most athletic guy in the football field.
47:59Takes it for an 81 yard touchdown. There's a couple other plays for Christian Watson, including when he's going to like insert block.
48:06And it kind of leaks out for a red zone touchdown.
48:09So he's not just Mr. 80 yard touchdown. He's going to get involved at the goal line.
48:14His season looked like it's going to be pretty awesome.
48:17Matthew Golden. He has 12 targets in this one.
48:20There's some in cut opportunities for Matthew Golden. 42 yarder out there.
48:24I thought that he passed the test, played most of the snaps.
48:27But what happened with the Packers is they had explosives, but there was no level of consistency here.
48:32Jordan Love gets sacked four times. That's what happens when you have 87% blitzes coming your way and the Packers could not
48:39run the ball whatsoever is under four yards per carry.
48:42Marshawn Lloyd has more carries than Chris Brooks, but Chris Brooks actually started this game.
48:46Chris Brooks was out there in a lot of the past protection because the Vikings were bringing so much pressure.
48:52You're not going to trust Marshawn Lloyd out there.
48:55So pretty quiet day for the running back group at large.
48:58But that's one of the problems with the Packers.
49:01Like it's so hard for them to kind of stay on schedule here.
49:05And if you're not hitting the huge explosives, all of a sudden this offense feels a little bit stuck.
49:10So in the second half, very conservative game planning until Matt LaFleur in the late in the game.
49:16They're up by a couple points by five points here.
49:19It's like a fourth and six. The Trey Smack, who nailed a couple of long field goals in this one.
49:24He hits his field goal here to make them go up eight.
49:28There was a penalty on the Vikings. The Packers decide to accept the penalty to go to fourth and one on that fourth and one.
49:35They do a quarterback sneak that gets stuffed. So instead of taking this game to go up by eight, they choose to
49:42try to make this like a true two score game.
49:45And it backfires. And a lot of the models were saying, actually, you should just take the points there.
49:50Next possession, Vikings go all the way down the field, score a touchdown.
49:54By the way, this is all with Carson Wentz, mind you.
49:58And then later on the game, Jordan Love, he gets strip sacked.
50:01There's interception as well on a ball that's like pass deflected.
50:04And then the Vikings end up just having a couple of a couple of explosives to Jordan Mason.
50:10Aaron Jones scores a rushing touchdown. Jordan Mason scores a rushing touchdown.
50:13And then Justin Jefferson completely balls out. So this game was sloppy to start for the Vikings end of this.
50:19They stayed competitive. And then at the end of the game, the Packers side of this thing, it just could not pick up a normal first down.
50:27And a lot of it is because of Brian Flores.
50:30Okay. Since it's a fantasy relevant question, I guess we just have to ask.
50:34Josh Jacobs is going to miss more games than week two.
50:37So Chris Brooks, I know Matt pointed this out.
50:40I know Ray has pointed this out. I know all of us have that he was most likely going to play the
50:47most snaps or a lot of them because of his pass pro and recognition and all that type of stuff.
50:53But from your eye test, did Marshawn Lloyd pass it?
50:56Is this someone that can be a flex option moving forward?
50:59I think next week you got the Jets and then you got the Falcons.
51:03I think over those two games, I think there's going to be enough points here to go around where Marshawn Lloyd could be a flex.
51:10He is definitely not an RB2, though. Marshawn Lloyd, I thought, he's very dancey.
51:14And you're supposed to have a jump cuts as a running back.
51:18Sometimes his jump cuts are a little bit too jumpy for me.
51:22And they try to get him on a big wheel route.
51:25Yes. You guys watch. You'll notice this. And I think the other big takeaway, and this all kind of comes together, the
51:31interior offensive line for the Packers is a huge problem.
51:34Both of their guards stink out loud, stink out loud.
51:37And that's not changing whether it's Josh Jacobs or whoever else is out there.
51:41This team's going to live and die by the explosives.
51:44Now, I think they're going to get a bunch of that the entire game.
51:48Jordan Love was like on his back foot just throwing bombs down the field.
51:53And they did have some fun explosives, including two to Tucker Craft, who's about a halftime player in this one.
51:58But if they can't run the ball and their corners are left on islands against Justin Jefferson, you can absolutely smoke the
52:05entire game with Carson Wentz at quarterback. This team seems like kind of like fool's gold to me.
52:10And I do think that this Packers team, unless Michael Parsons comes back, unless they figure out this offensive line, which I'm
52:17not banking on, this Packers team is going to be very, very frustrating.
52:21Yeah. That sounds about what I was expecting, honestly, from the Packers.
52:24So I'll be interested to go back and rewatch.
52:27On the Viking side of things, Hayden, any read on the running back situation in terms of the split between the two guys?
52:34Like, how did the run game look overall? You know, that's something they really said they wanted to commit to.
52:40Like, did they actually commit to it? Darisaw had a couple awesome runs to spring some explosives.
52:45I think there was a nice touchdown to Aaron Jones where he was out in front.
52:49And then obviously the Jordan Mason is a 28 yarder.
52:52It felt like it felt like a lot more than 28 yards.
52:56Maybe Jordan Mason's not that fast in that. It just felt like he was running for so long, but not actually picking up that many yards.
53:04They both scored goal line touchdowns. So I think Aaron Jones is from four yards out.
53:08Jordan Mason was actually from like one yard out.
53:11So it's going to be a pretty even split.
53:14Neither of them were like really used in the pass game.
53:17Like even Aaron Jones goes catchless in this one.
53:19The entire pass game was to Justin Jefferson. There was a free play situation where Carson Wentz looks to his right.
53:26Justin Jefferson's to his left. He kind of realizes like, oh, maybe I should throw this ball to Justin Jefferson.
53:32If it's a free play, finally does it. In the back of the end zone, Justin Jefferson comes down with it.
53:38There's a couple of times where Justin Jefferson's working behind the line of scrimmage after the ball is snapped as little like leak routes to the flats.
53:46Both of those were in the red zone. One of them he takes for a touchdown.
53:51The other one, just a simple reception there. But just the fact that Carson Wentz can make this offense look functional is like makes the J.J.
53:58McCarthy stuff from last year, like so much more damning.
54:01Like it like truly so much more damning. The Jefferson floor this year feels so much higher.
54:06And hopefully we get Kyler Murray back. He was pretty much knocked unconscious in the first quarter of that one.
54:12So really bummed out for Kyler Murray. We'll see if he comes back next week or not.
54:17But at least Carson Wentz, like this is not the J.J.
54:20McCarthy splits. This is more like, you know, Nick Mullins.
54:23It's more like Kirk Cousins tier rather than like the J.J.
54:27McCarthy stuff. Yeah, I mean, the Carson Wentz of it all, it just shows you that if your name isn't J.J.
54:33McCarthy or Max Brosmer, that Justin Jefferson is going to get there.
54:36It really is that simple. He's that talented that he's going to get there.
54:40Hey, just to close this out, we've got two lesser wide receivers on each team that barely did anything.
54:46OK, so I understand that the Packers out yarded, out gained the Vikings for 19 to 239.
54:51By the way, they lost by 17 doing that, which is absolutely bonkers.
54:55But we mentioned that Watson had 147 and two scores.
54:58Matthew Golden, 95 yards. I see Jane Reed for three catches for 20 yards.
55:02And then I see Jordan Addison with a total goose egg on two targets.
55:06Yeah, I'll start with Jaden Reed. 64% of the routes in this game, they did not mix in another wide receiver very much.
55:13I will say like the last play of the game was an incomplete pass to Sky Moore on a fourth and two.
55:20So like we had like some of that element, but not as much as previous years.
55:24That was for you guys down there. Instead, the Packers did use a real four tight end rotation.
55:30That's because Tucker Kraft is not a full time player in this one.
55:33Kraft ran 20 of 46 routes. It was like Johnny Smith, Mark Redman, Josh Wiley.
55:38Those guys were playing at the expense of Jaden Reed.
55:41I would say this is the same exact situation that Jaden Reed has been in for his entire career.
55:46If you guys like that, keep them. If you don't like that, I don't like that personally.
55:51And it does seem like Matthew Golden is like the more explosive version of Romeo Dobbs.
55:56Romeo Dobbs is a wide receiver three in fantasy last year.
55:59I can easily see Matthew Golden just one for one replacing that as Christian Watson, I think, has a chance to be a real upside wide receiver too.
56:08And then final question before we get out of here.
56:11Tucker Kraft said he was going to play about 50% of the snaps until halfway through the season.
56:16You said he'd get two explosives. Anything eye test wise you want to bring up here with Tucker Kraft?
56:22Both of them are wide open and I thought he looked totally fine.
56:25It just seems like they're pretty committed to Tucker Kraft being in a part time rotation.
56:30So 20 of 46 routes on the dropbacks out there typically is 85%, 90%.
56:34So I think this is going to be a multi-week scenario for Tucker Kraft.
56:38He's more of an upside tight end too than you have to start tight end one.
56:43Now we'll get to Harold Fanden Coppets. We chopped off a lot of tight ends in fantasy.
56:48Maybe he still is a top 10 tight end.
56:51But this is not the Tucker Kraft that you were drafting, hoping for the November and December production.
56:56All right, Matt, we'll send it to you next.
56:59I mean, what game should we go with here?
57:01Let's go Tampa Bay and Cincinnati. All right. Your guy, Baker Mayfield, that you hyped up all morning long.
57:07Ends the day with 216. Zero touchdowns. Zero interceptions.
57:1027 points. Looks like he does a bit too much.
57:13Four sacks and a fumble on top of it.
57:15Meanwhile, maybe we should start here with the Cincinnati Bengals and the winning team.
57:20Joe Burrow, 25 of 35, 254, one score. And like I led off with T Higgins, three for 59.
57:25Jamar Chase, two for 12. So, of course, Mike Kosicki goes five receptions, 78 yards and one score.
57:30So much talk of this Bengals offense looking different with under center dropbacks.
57:34Wasn't that different? No, they had five dropbacks from under center.
57:38Four of them came in the second quarter. That amounted to three of five for 29 yards.
57:43So they pretty much were like, okay, that's cute.
57:45We're going to stop doing that. 2.36 time to throw when Joe Burrow was in the gun, despite the sub 16% pressure rate.
57:52So there was a couple of like, oh yeah, Joe Burrow's under pressure here.
57:56But it wasn't just like they're getting overwhelmed from a pass protection standpoint.
58:00It just, I don't know, it's the Bengals defense won them this game.
58:04And maybe the Bucs shooting themselves in the foot won themselves this game, honestly.
58:08And this is one of the more successful week one outings for the Bengals, whether you look at like the Zach Taylor,
58:15Joe Burrow era when they've been out there. But it was not because of the offense whatsoever.
58:20This is just, this offense felt very weird all day long.
58:23Joe Burrow probably throws one of the worst passes of the day.
58:26A pick six to Josiah Trotter, which is just like, I don't know what he was looking at.
58:32I mean, you can watch the replay of it.
58:34Trotter is like eyes on him all the way reading what he's going to do.
58:39And he just throws it right to him. And he takes it for a pick six, which was the best thing that
58:45the Bucs defense probably did all day because those linebackers otherwise were kind of getting worked in the underneath area.
58:51So 10 of 40 from under center for Chase Brown, 6 of 16 from the gun.
58:56So it was just like when we can get under center and run the football, it looks pretty good, but we're not
59:02going to do that from the shotgun and we're not going to throw from under center.
59:07So it pretty much looked like all those August storylines went in the trash right away.
59:12This Bengals offense and Joe Burrow specifically have been slow starters, Matt.
59:15Unfortunately for them, they also get the Houston Texans defense on the road next week.
59:20So one of those teams is going to bounce back either this Bengals offense from this passing game standpoint or the Texans defense.
59:27Next week. So hopefully this was just kind of early season growing pains, but at least for the Bengals, Matt, going through that, they still won the contest.
59:35And typically the Bengals don't win the early season stuff.
59:38And really it's exactly how we said it should be over the last few years that the defense finally bailed out the offense in a way.
59:46And their defense was flying around. Like I'll give them a lot of credit there.
59:50You definitely felt the difference of having some improved players there.
59:53And like the linebackers were also definitely much improved.
59:56Now, again, bottom was or the bar was in hell in terms of what the linebackers did last year, but it was a slight improvement this year.
60:04Not perfect for sure on that side of the ball.
60:07And like I said, a lot of it was, I think, Tampa Bay making their own mistakes here on this one, but
60:13certainly a better improved improved performance by that defense for sure.
60:17All right. Let me ask you about it. Oh, go ahead.
60:20Go ahead. Go ahead. No, you go. Go, Ray.
60:23I mean, I just, the elephant in the room, man.
60:25Jamar Chase, Tee Higgins, they didn't do anything. Like nothing.
60:28Is this, was this just a byproduct of rusty week one?
60:32I mean, four targets for Chase. Like just what was going on?
60:35Like why, why did we not get more Jamar Chase looks in this one?
60:39Like people want to know this was wide receiver one, two for everybody coming into the week.
60:44And this is just, this was a bust performance from Jamar Chase.
60:48There's no way to sugarcoat it. Like, what did you see?
60:51I don't, honestly, I don't really know. They, cause you never really pushed the football down the field to these guys.
60:57I, they were just getting it out quickly. A lot of just, like I said, get in the gun and get it to Mike Gusecki in the slot.
61:06All of Mike Gusecki's production came when lined up as a slot receiver, except his one touchdown, which was when he was lined up out wide.
61:13So it was a lot of that trying to take advantage of the middle of the field coverage and just not really
61:20throwing it into the teeth in the perimeter there for Cincinnati.
61:23So probably like a, there's no big takeaways here.
61:26Just stuff happens in terms of Jamar Chase. But I did think it was a little odd that they never tried to
61:32kind of get him going a lot with the underneath stuff.
61:36So to me, it was just kind of a random performance, but it just comes to just this weird disjointedness that the
61:42Bengals offense kind of carries right now. But hopefully that's just a one week blip.
61:46Okay. Got to ask about the bucks because there were some conversations that we had.
61:51Yeah, we had an August about the scene first talk.
61:54We threw like the Bucky Irving, Kenny Gainwell passing down red zone usage stuff and then hit on Emeka Ibuka, Chris Godwin
62:00with Ibuka going five for 63 on six targets.
62:03And Chris Godwin four for 40 on his four targets.
62:06Yeah. And all of Ibuka's production came in the first half to didn't do anything in the second half.
62:12Nothing there. They were a pretty purely 11 personnel team in this one.
62:1583% of their plays came out of 11 personnel.
62:18That's 36% higher than the NFL average, according to Sumer Sports.
62:21And it did pretty much look like what we thought where Chris Godwin was in the slot.
62:26He was he was like the big slot receiver Emeka Ibuka moving around.
62:30And then Ted Hurst was absolutely sacrificial X receiver in this one.
62:34He had one pretty cool catch for his first NFL reception along the sideline.
62:38But otherwise averages 1.3 yards per route in 11 personnel.
62:41And yeah, they didn't really dabble in any heavy personnel work.
62:44But the big fantasy story is that Bucky Irving, I mean, pretty bullish pass game usage for him.
62:49He runs more routes in 11 personnel. 59% of the routes in 11 personnel.
62:5427% targets per route run. Productive, like intentional usage.
62:56He has a couple of nice catches on third down in this.
63:00Like I thought he looked explosive right away as a rusher too.
63:03So I thought Bucky Irving comes out of this one as a really, really big winner.
63:08And you know, you can kind of say that this is like a little bit of excuse making.
63:13And I think you could do this too for the next team that I'm going to talk about here in a minute.
63:20It's a new play caller. There's a lot more like motions and shifts.
63:24And you could tell the Bucks were just really disorganized in that part of it in terms of like Zach Robinson.
63:30They're asking him to do a lot. But I mean, the turnovers were just abysmal.
63:34Baker Mayfield sack fumble touchdown on the first one.
63:37Bucky then on third and 14 check down. He fumbles it.
63:40Baker, his second fumble is like a really nice little scramble to get out of pressure in the red zone.
63:46And he does this like really exaggerated juke move that he looks like he's like the uncle at the turkey bowl.
63:52And then right after that fumbles it into the end zone.
63:56And then like, he just got really greedy and carry carried away.
63:59They're just careless, careless stuff. And then he has another sack fumble after that one.
64:04So it was the full Baker Mayfield experience in this game.
64:07There's no question about that. Hey, now I want to ask you.
64:10So we're going to talk about this in stats versus film, but I would take this with Bucky Irving having what a
64:17short yardage touchdown, seven receptions on top of this, that Bucky Irving behind this offensive line might be one of the biggest
64:23winners in fantasy football in week one. Yeah, I think, yeah, there's kind of cut this thing into half.
64:29Some of the round five running backs looked bad and some of them looked good.
64:34I think Bucky passes the test here. I was going to just quickly say like, what's the point of Kenny Gainwell in fantasy?
64:40He runs a route on 36% of dropbacks. He would not be a bell cow back if there was an injury here.
64:47This was the negative game script. They were down 24 to 10 going into halftime.
64:51The Bengals defense is set up for receptions underneath with their linebacker core.
64:55Sean Tucker was out. If it's not going to happen at all with Kenny Gainwell here, then like what truly is the point?
65:02Like, why would you rather have him than Tank Bigsby, Mike Washington?
65:05You named the backup running back with actual fantasy appeal.
65:08If you're starting Kenny Gainwell in fantasy, you've been eliminated.
65:11So like, there's no point to me even rostering right now.
65:15The biggest PSYOP that Aaron Rodgers has ever been a part of is that he made us think that Kenny Gainwell is
65:21like some kind of pass game weapon because he just checked them all down to him over and over again.
65:27Yeah. Yeah. I mean, was running like legit downfield routes and that is never going to be replicated in other offense because
65:34the Steelers wide receivers like did not exist last year.
65:36Yeah. Bucky's going to rank high, I think, for Boone in our running back rankings this Wednesday because they faced the Cleveland Browns in week two.
65:44He looked great. He looked great. He was the most consistent player probably on the offense outside of, like I said, third and 14 check down fumble.
65:52All right. I'll go to the NFC East next as the Philadelphia Eagles squeak by the Washington Commanders 24 to 22.
65:58This was not a clean debut for Sean Mannion's Eagle offense.
66:02Their run game did not seem in sync early on.
66:05I mean, Saquon had a sick 42 yard run where he made two commanders run into each other at the line of
66:11scrimmage, then made Mike Sammer still stand still at the third level.
66:15But earlier in the game, he was seen like yelling on the sideline to the offensive line saying like, we got to
66:21get this right in terms of the run blocking.
66:24He was hit behind the line of scrimmage on seven of his opening 12 runs.
66:28It looked a whole lot like 2025 and not in the good way.
66:32And I mean, I even saw Eagles fans questioning if Landon Dickerson is done.
66:36So I mean, he had penalties, instant disruption, sacks like tackles for loss.
66:40It was brutal. And Cam Juergens wasn't that much better than him.
66:44But the passing game for the Eagles actually looked like the best part.
66:47I mean, Jalen Hurts finishes 14 to 25, 203 and three big touchdowns and the big time receiver in the first half.
66:54I love myself a post-hype sleeper. Let's go. That is Dontavian Wicks.
66:5764 yard pass to Dontavian Wicks early on out of 13 personnel under center.
67:02A perfect ball over the head of Mike Sammer still.
67:05That drive ends in a touchdown. Dallas Goddard down the seam from Hurts for defenders.
67:09Four verts perfectly placed. Later on the red zone, you get Dontavian Wicks versus again, Mike Sammer still.
67:14Great route versus the corners inside leverage. A fadeaway throw from Jalen Hurts makes it 14 to three.
67:20And then yes, Devontae Smith checked in a bit later on with the sweet sideline grab on 33 and five for 33 yards.
67:26And Dallas Goddard got his second touchdown. Actually legitimately running away from the commander's defense.
67:31That was just very confused in their coverage. I do want to shout out this commander's defense though.
67:36Like Durante Jones got them ready in many ways.
67:39Sonny Stiles had an unreal sack where he ran through, I think a nice block by Saquon Barkley, but submarine Tim, like
67:45just threw him to the turf and sacks Jalen Hurts.
67:48Javon Kinlaw was popping up. It just looked a lot more creative and had some interesting Minnesota Vikings wrinkles to it.
67:55And they gave Jalen Hurts in this Eagles offense a lot of fits.
67:58And if my Saquon Barkley prediction is going to pay off, this new rushing scheme has to look a whole lot better in week two, Ray.
68:06Yeah. Yeah. And I don't know how it's going to because the offensive line was shaky last year.
68:11It was shaky last year. If you would have told me one defense was going to have 10 tackles for a loss
68:18and five quarterback hits, I thought it would be Philadelphia's defense against an inoperable offense that everyone said the commanders was.
68:24But it was the complete opposite. Like, give them a ton of credit.
68:28But, yeah, I'm with you, Josh. I've got high hopes for Saquon Barkley.
68:32You still see some of the sweet moves that he has when he hits the open field, when he's one-on-one.
68:38It's lunch. It's barbecue chicken for Saquon Barkley. I'm just looking at the numbers and the box score here.
68:4325 attempts for Hurts. 25 attempts for Hurts. And we're saying that this was the best kind of part of the offense.
68:50It's just going to be slim pickings going around looking at these pass catchers.
68:54If Goddard's going to have his role, Wicks, Smith.
68:57And then I'm looking at that three for negative five, Josh.
69:00I'm looking at three for negative five. Yeah, I was going to bring that up.
69:04Makai Lemon, come on. Talk to me. Yeah, I mean, we talked about some zeros for Jordan Addison and Colson Loveland.
69:10Makai Lemon, if you're in a standard league, gave you negative points on three catches for negative five yards.
69:16He did have a three-yard gain, but then he had a couple of negative screen passes on it.
69:21As well, to get himself some negative yardage. So this is like the Devontae Smith, Danteven Wicks, Dallas Goddard show at the early part.
69:29I will add some of those 25 dropbacks was more because Jalen Hurts.
69:32Hayden, you brought this up all summer long. Looked leaner, looked meaner, looked like his scrambling self.
69:37Seven carries for 46 yards, including like a pivotal, I think like a third and 18 that he runs up the gut for 22 yards.
69:45So that was his jailed out of free card, you know, a couple years ago or even last year in one contest.
69:51But he probably looks just as good as he did in like 2024 running the football.
69:56Yeah, that's encouraging. I didn't like that you said that Landon Dickerson might be the one that's kind of falling apart because
70:03he was the one that seemed like to have the most, just like the most downside because of the injuries and like he was contemplating retirement.
70:10Like this is gonna be the week one showing with like quite frankly, a bunch of no namers.
70:16Like the Vanders had more pressures than the Eagles did in this game like that.
70:20That to me is worrisome for Philadelphia. I will say on the pass catchers, Goddard, Wicks, Lemon, Smith, they were all out
70:26there for at least 29 of the 35 dropbacks.
70:29Like this offense really is like not about snap rates.
70:32It's like let the best man win over the course of the season.
70:36I feel pretty confident it's gonna be Devante Smith by himself and the rest of these guys kind of alternating.
70:42But we don't have to worry about like Makai Lemon not playing enough snaps.
70:46Like if he's good in this offense, he will appear.
70:49That might just take a little bit of time.
70:52Yeah, and I'll add that Will Shipley was in there for like the one minute drive, which was interesting to me that it wasn't Saquon.
70:59Just something to keep in mind in the back of your head.
71:03On the commander's front, feel bad for David Blau drawing your first time being a play caller up against this.
71:08Defense like Vic Fangio, not fun first draw. And it showed.
71:12I mean, Terry McLaurin did not get a catch until 434 left in the game.
71:16We somewhat expected that, you know, that you get Fangioed, you get Quinion Mitchelled and Rick Woolen on the outside.
71:22Brandon Coleman allowed a ton of pressures at left tackle.
71:25They kind of consistently found themselves behind the sticks and behind schedule.
71:29And so that forced Jane Daniels into this playmaker style.
71:32And he popped up here with, you know, some really cool scrambles on a 14 yarder, spin moves, all that type of stuff with five carries for 31.
71:40But in the day, just 18 of 34, 164, two touchdowns.
71:43Like the gimmies weren't there for this team. I think Stefan Diggs kind of had two drops.
71:48That would have shortened the sticks a bit more.
71:51But they made it close in the end. You know, they were a two point conversion away from sending this to overtime, basically at 2424.
71:58And then again, David Blau pops up of, hey, the gotta have it short yardage play.
72:03I run a shovel pass to John Bates. And that's what I'm going to go home and start 0-1 with.
72:09Yeah, not what you want in terms of the play call there.
72:12Josh, I did note that Antonio Williams, rookie receiver.
72:15Yeah. Was the most productive receiver on the day, but he is sixth in routes.
72:19What happened with that one? So it's funny. I mean, all training camp, we heard that Traylon Burks was starting as an
72:26outside wide receiver and Traylon Burks was out there on the field today.
72:30But like you said, Antonio Williams pops up for 464 and one compared to Stefan Diggs, 455 and one.
72:35And then Chig left about halftime and he was a third best receiver with two for 16 with an injury.
72:41Uh, Antonio Williams was running a bunch of like condensed splits, slot ish stuff.
72:45Even at times he was the outside wide receiver and just kind of running across the formation and out running those corners
72:52that were kind of trailing him or in, in zone coverage.
72:55And as for Diggs, he was again, kind of schooling Cooper Dejean.
72:59We've seen some of these like veteran old school slot ish wide receivers.
73:03Like Stefan Diggs did this to him. Adam Thielen did this to Cooper Dejean and just kind of route him up at the top.
73:10Um, and you know, Diggs scored a really nice touchdown and then celebrated by sliding down the, uh, touchdown pole, uh, on top of it.
73:17So, uh, never change buddy. At that point, the commanders were only down by two.
73:21And so then his celebration penalty forced them into like a 45 yard extra point try and prohibited them from trying to
73:28go for two to tie up the game. That was like 16, 16 at the, at the moment.
73:33So, uh, yeah, Stefan Diggs never changed. Josh, can I, can I ask you, we talked about Kenner Gainwell being a psyop running back?
73:40Yes. The eye test for me looked like Bill Krosky merit.
73:44I don't care that it says 3.9 in attempt.
73:46He looked like the best running back. Like what are we doing with Rashad white?
73:51He's supposed to be this past catching maven. He had what?
73:54One catch two catches on the day is, is this the bill backfield?
73:58Should it be the bill cross camera backfield? It should absolutely be the bill backfield.
74:02And his first carry went for 10 yards. Like his second carry went for 11 yards.
74:07He got the goal line touchdown on top of that.
74:10Uh, he just has more juice, more strength than Rashad white.
74:13They actually kept Rashad white in there for one third and one.
74:17He got suffer loss obviously. And they had to punt.
74:20Um, look, if you have Jane Daniels at quarterback, you're not going to dump it off to Rashad white often.
74:26Like that is the theory of the play with Rashad white.
74:29They have a pocket passer that he racks up some PPR scam stuff.
74:33And you just don't do that when your Jane Daniels can extend and get to the sideline or throw it away or sometimes scramble on top of it.
74:41So, uh, yeah, Rashad white still not an effective runner.
74:44I will add that bill fumbled a bit later on Josh Connolly fell on it.
74:48So it didn't turn into a negative play. And then Katron Allen did pop in there for a couple of those runs after bill.
74:55But when they go back and review it again, just the size, the movement, the power of bill just totally overshadows what Rashad white brings the table here.
75:04And how did Jaden look? Just, just like, how did he look?
75:07He was injured last year. Did he look, did he look good?
75:11Did he, did you feel good about him moving forward?
75:14He looked fine. Okay. I mean, he took some hits.
75:17He got back up. Uh, and there were some off target passes.
75:20It looked like a new offense. Again, they had some mechanical, uh, you know, false starts, formation, some weird timeouts from Dan Quinn.
75:27It just looked like they were in the first time of a new offense.
75:31I don't want to judge them too harshly for facing Vic Fangio.
75:35Cause I think that's like the worst thing to roll up on, on week one.
75:39Uh, I'm in wait and see with this commander's offense.
75:42It did feel at times, right? I don't know if it's going to make sense that David Blau was like calling plays at times versus running an offense.
75:50Like they would do the under center stuff. Cause now it's, everything's involved and that's exactly what the league is supposed to do.
75:57And yet it just ended with Jaden Daniels running for his life and just out of a different formation and different look.
76:04So we'll see. I'm, I'm, I'm in wait and see mode for, for David Blau.
76:08Okay, Matt, we're going to send it back to you to close up this one.
76:13Uh, it's the upset of the day. I mean, it has to be the upset of the day as what?
76:19Nine and a half point underdogs as the Arizona Cardinals beat the LA chargers, not by a little bit, but by 12 points, 26 to 14.
76:26You have been Cardinals curious this entire summer and it paid off.
76:30Yeah, baby. Yeah. I was going to say when the Hayden mentioned, don't search the floor on Twitter.
76:35If you're going to do it, just make sure you get the right.
76:39The floor, because man is, is Mike Lafleur, the new guy.
76:42Uh, people are saying, uh, we'll see how I can get you guys.
76:46Cardinals curious by the end of this recap, because they were by far not even close.
76:51The better team on the field today. It was, this is, this is, this is embarrassing for the, this is an embarrassing game for the chargers.
76:58Just, just straight up. Like, I do want to talk about the Cardinals first, but you know, when I was going to
77:05say like, well, you know, bucks new offensive coordinator, Zach Robinson, you know, Mike McDaniel, new offensive coordinator here.
77:11These are complicated offenses with a lot of shifts, a lot of motion.
77:14We saw the bears and the Jags kind of struggle with this last year with new play callers taking over what were very static offenses previously.
77:22At the same time, you can give all those same caveats to the team on the other side here in the Arizona Cardinals.
77:29And this team there looked crisp. They handled everything really professionally.
77:32Like Jacoby Brissett in the first half was in total control of this offense.
77:3616 completions on 21 pass attempts. All three of his top pass catchers there, McBride, Marv, Wilson, all of them lost like what I would call tough catches.
77:45None of them were just like, oh man, that's a drop or something like that.
77:49It was just really tough. Like kind of, you got to adjust to it.
77:53He maybe threw it a little bit where he didn't want it.
77:57They had to extend for it. And then he had a risky throwaway when in the grasp of Khalil Mack to avoid
78:03running out the clock to close the first half.
78:06But that those were his only like real incompletions overall.
78:09He was, like I said, in total control of this offense.
78:12Jeremiah love you immediately are just like, oh yeah, that guy's really good at football.
78:17Like first touchdown on the opening drive. It was five touches to four between Jeremiah love and Tyler Algeer in the opening quarter.
78:23And it's just like, yeah, one of these guys moves differently.
78:27Like it's really good to have him out there and like kind of winning in tight spaces at the line of scrimmage.
78:33Just finding an extra lane as a dump off receiver to just keeping the offense moving.
78:38It's like, yeah, I know third overall running back value, whatever.
78:41Kind of helpful to have that guy on the offense.
78:44And the other guy we got to give a shout out to Kendrick Bourne does his best Khalif Raymond impression as the
78:51like, hey, I know that I've worked with the coach previously.
78:54I know this offense boys like saddle up for a lot of targets to Kendrick Bourne.
78:58He was awesome in this game. So yeah, Brissette.
79:01Obviously McBride was McBride. Jeremiah love. And then the receivers kind of chipped in along the way.
79:06Marv had a really nice 33 yard tight coverage win along the sideline.
79:10Michael Wilson kind of started slow, but picked up later has about 50 yards in this game.
79:15So like I said, just really organized, really crisp.
79:18And they ultimately ran 72 plays to 51 for the Chargers.
79:21The Chargers would just go long periods without having the ball because the drives were about equals 11 drives to Arizona, 10 to Los Angeles.
79:28But just the Cardinals could stay on the field and the Chargers couldn't.
79:32Matt, let's spin this forward because the Cardinals in the next two games, I'm glad they won in week one.
79:38It's Seattle and San Francisco over the next two.
79:41Yeah. Right. What do you expect with the backfield?
79:43Obviously, Jeremiah love gets there. He scores a touchdown.
79:4611 carries 41. I'm surprised it's only two receptions for nine yards.
79:50Do you think the backfield is going to look with this split or as Jeremiah love still recovers from the high ankle
79:56sprain is just going to be more and more and more in his direction?
80:00I think it'll just be more and more in Jeremiah's direction.
80:04He just is pretty clearly. I mean, Algier is not going to go away.
80:08He's a good back. And, you know, he did help them early on and grind things out late.
80:13Like he'll still be involved, but I think it will tilt more and more to the rookie's favor.
80:18Okay. And then one follow up on the Cardinals.
80:21I see McBride nine for 95 and one. I see Michael Wilson five for 56.
80:25That doesn't even mention Kendrick Bourne's eight for 75.
80:28If you're saying that this offense is well coached and it was on point and they were ready to play.
80:34I see Marvin Harrison, Jr. Three targets, one reception, 33 yards.
80:37Like, I don't want to say it's over already, but like, that's kind of fifth option on this offense.
80:43It seems that's tough. Yeah. The Bourne stuff definitely throws a wrench.
80:46I think for both of these wide receivers, which I liked.
80:50I mean, I drafted a ton of Michael Wilson and kind of sprinkled in Marvin Harrison.
80:54So the Bourne variable is definitely one. I probably wish I had considered a little bit more because he's a good player.
81:01Like I said, he was with Michael floor when they were together as the wide receiver coach with San Francisco 49ers.
81:07Like, I don't think he's going away. He runs a route on about 77% of the dropbacks, which was, you know, a
81:14decent bit behind both Wilson McBride and Harrison. But when he was out there, he was getting targeted.
81:19So that definitely throws a wrench in any like Marvin Harrison, Jr.
81:22Big leap forward. Michael Wilson sustaining what he did last year, because obviously Trey McBride is the guy and, you know, was
81:29the one we all ranked the highest. But I wouldn't say it's I definitely don't think it's over for Marv.
81:35Like he did again. He had one really nice reception in this game.
81:39But, you know, is he someone I'm starting against the Seahawks next week?
81:43No, definitely not. Okay. I'll ask the questions with the Chargers because Matt, I saw three catches for like 60 yards on
81:49the opening drive that Lad McConkie and Mike McDaniel had together.
81:52And I was like, I'm going to eat good all season long.
81:56The Chargers are just going to put it on the board week after week, drive after drive.
82:01And then what he exits the game after seven targets, five receptions, 82 yards and a touchdown.
82:06And no one can function from there. What the hell happened?
82:09I mean, this if you were one of the people, you know, and I was one of these people, I think I
82:16think you guys all were that thought that it's Lad McConkie and then like, OK, there's some interesting players, but like a
82:22pretty significant drop off between one and two. You absolutely felt that the moment that Lad left this game, because I mean,
82:29first drive, it's three completions for 60 yards from Justin Herbert and Mike McDaniel's offense.
82:33They all go to Lad McConkie, 18 yards, 23 yards, 19 yards, explosive plays doing exactly what you would imagine from him.
82:40His fourth target is a long pass interference on first and 20.
82:43Then he has another 14 yard catch, a touchdown in the red zone.
82:47And then, you know, Justin Herbert kind of throws it a little high on an in-breaking route later in the game.
82:53And he just gets popped in the ribs. And that's kind of like this is a little bit of the Lad McConkie experience, right?
83:00It's it's he's looks really great. I love him as a player.
83:04But my one question with him is like, does he have the body to sustain a lot of punishment one week in and kind of a discouraging answer?
83:12And like you said, Josh, they could not function after he was gone.
83:16The charges average 12.4 yards to go on third down today.
83:19That's one of the more disgusting stats. And then, I mean, late in this game, the chart of this is from Jordan
83:26Roderick, our friend who also is Cardinals curious, by the way, charters were down 23 to 14.
83:31Offense takes over penalty, penalty, penalty, pass breakup, burn a timeout to avoid a delay of game penalty pass for 12 yards
83:37on third and 30 short pass on fourth and 18 penalty turnover on downs.
83:41Like it was not good. Like the offensive line was probably worse than we would have expected.
83:46The run game was, you know, like Amari and Hampton had some moments.
83:50Keaton Mitchell was mixing in a lot earlier than I would have thought.
83:54But Hampton, like he looks great when he's just going downhill.
83:57But, you know, we got to kind of change directions a little bit faster there.
84:02A lot of questions for this one coming out here.
84:05I do think we need to spend more time on the run game, though, because I think this was like you're going
84:11to get explosives and that's going to help Herbert kind of calm things down a little bit.
84:16They had negative yards before contact in this one.
84:19The Chargers did. Yeah, I mean, the line was not good.
84:22That's that's really bad. I haven't loved Amari and Hampton's vision, so I can't wait to go back and watch this a bit.
84:29All right. This is the guards fault or this is the center's fault or is this Hampton's fault?
84:34And I do think that Keaton Mitchell mixing in there just a little bit.
84:38That's kind of like how Amari and Hampton can like finish as like the RB 12 instead of like the RB 7 or something like that.
84:46So, yeah, super disappointing season or game for Hampton and Justin Herbert.
84:50Yep, Matt, like I don't want to take this too far.
84:53So often there are things after week one that stay as fact for the next 17 weeks, but there's always like those
84:59one or two games that we jumped conclusions and we look stupid for jumping to conclusions.
85:04I am at least hoping that the Chargers are one of these teams that just put their worst foot forward in week
85:11one and it just gets better from here. But I don't know some of the things that you're talking up of how
85:17that might not come to pass leaves me nervous as in poor blocking.
85:21Yeah, guard center guard combo. Not great wide receivers behind Lad McConkie.
85:25I mean QJ does nothing here. Trey Harris does nothing here.
85:28Arande Gadsden two for 32 and then once Lad leaves, it's David Njoku for five for 58.
85:33What are we doing? And like I said, just completely overwhelmed on the interior offensive line in the run and pass game.
85:39So, you know, that's definitely going to make the receivers look worse, but I certainly don't think they have anything more than
85:46a maybe interesting wide receiver three in Quinton Johnson and a maybe interesting rotational player in Trey Harris behind Lad McConkie.
85:52So he definitely is the straw that stirs the drink on this one.
85:56And when he was out of there, like I said, they just they had absolutely nothing in the second half, which was super discouraging.
86:03I wouldn't I'm not going to full on panic on the Chargers.
86:07And like I said, to be fair, even though the Cardinals beat this accusation, I do think like what the Jags looked
86:13like in the first half of last year in the Bears is instructive.
86:17It's a new offense. It's really complicated. A lot of changes.
86:20And that that can cause a team to look disjointed.
86:23And hopefully they pick it up here in short order, but really discouraging debut.
86:27Matt, I'll just say this was pretty damn disappointing.
86:30This Cardinals team, everybody projected them to be the worst team in the NFL, picking number one overall, lowest amount of touchdowns scored in there on the road.
86:38And they put BTA on the Chargers. I mean, Hampton looked pretty bad when I was watching them.
86:43I'm like, come on, dude. Like this is they need to get it together.
86:48This was this is inexcusable, in my opinion. Right.
86:50To that point, like the Chargers need to start fast.
86:53Your two opening games were the Cardinals and the Raiders.
86:56And then after that, it's Buffalo, Seattle, both on the road.
86:59Then Denver, Kansas City, the Rams, the Texans and the Ravens.
87:03Like you had to start to know the season.
87:05So they better freaking bounce back next week against the Raiders or else we're in a big, big, big trouble here.
87:12And Ray, that's a perfect transition into your game as the Raiders start one and oh on the season.
87:17I was Dolphins curious, Matt. And that did not turn out to be good here in week one in the game that they should and could win.
87:25But the Raiders, this is their easiest matchup in the opening 11 weeks, 27 points on this Dolphins defense.
87:31Kirk Cousins, 21 or 30, just for 160 yards.
87:33Three touchdowns, two interceptions. But Ray, the headliner, I guess, is Ashton Gentry, 23 carries, 102 yards.
87:38And he's also the team's leading receiver, six receptions, 45 and two scores.
87:42Yeah, I thought his ankle was broken. I thought it was hanging on by a thread.
87:47Prayer candles and circles, turning the music down. Ashton Gentry became only the 10th player since 1999 with 100 rushing yards and
87:54at least two receiving TDs in the same regular season game.
87:57I mean, he looked great. He looked great as the primary running back.
88:01Michael Mayer led them in targets. So he was the Brock Bowers replacement.
88:04He was not Brock Bowers levels of good. I almost fumbled the ball in this one.
88:09But I'll just say the biggest takeaway watching this was Clint Kubiak was very much in command.
88:14The offense looked good. The Raiders put up 27 points in this one.
88:18And as nasty as the game felt, like Miami's just so young, y'all.
88:22This is the youngest team in the league. I didn't think Malik Willis was great, but he also wasn't awful in this matchup.
88:29But it was just too much Ashton Gentry downhill in the receiving game.
88:33He was everything for the Raiders. I thought Mike Washington played well, but this is somebody you do not want to flex.
88:39You don't want to play those games. There was nothing from Trey Tucker, nothing from Jalen Naylor.
88:44One of Kirk Cousins' interceptions actually came on another target to Jack Besh, who scored a touchdown in this one.
88:50It'll be interesting to watch his snaps and his participation moving forward.
88:54But the big takeaway is if Gentry's going to be this involved on the ground and through the air, he's going to be awesome.
89:01He was incredible in this one. And I can only imagine how much better he can get down the line.
89:07Clint Kubiak was great. Like, he just called an awesome game plan at one point.
89:11They had like a nine-minute drive, just eating up clock.
89:14They played really good ball against, obviously, a very young and not very good team in Miami.
89:19But the Raiders were solid for their first outing.
89:22Yeah, I love seeing no sacks for Kirk Cousins.
89:24To me, that's a sign of good coaching. Is there free rushers coming at you and hitting your quarterback?
89:30Is there negative four-yard carries all the time? It does not seem like we had that much of all.
89:36Ray, explain the, like, Ashton Gentry, like, types of targets.
89:38I think both of those were, what, end zone targets?
89:41Did he, like, leak out? Like, was his design stuff?
89:44Like, what level of receptions could we expect from Ashton Gentry here?
89:48Oh, no, man. He was looking like CMC out there, Hayden.
89:51It wasn't just, like, swing routes out of the backfield.
89:54I mean, his first touchdown, I mean, he was, it was downfield.
89:58There were some yards down there, right? He had a nice little angle route.
90:02Got the touchdown. I thought it was a receiver.
90:05I was like, oh, man, that's Ashton Gentry number two there.
90:08And then they got him again. It was very creative how Kubiak was deploying Gentry out of the backfield.
90:13And you can tell early on whether it was through the air or on the ground.
90:18Like, the game plan was get the ball out of Kirk Cousins' hands quickly and get the ball to Ashton Gentry.
90:24Like, he was, like, sneakily a lot better than we probably expected last year through the air.
90:29And to start off this year doing the same thing that he kind of left off doing last season, like, I feel a lot better.
90:37I mean, six receptions for 45 yards and two touchdowns for your, for what most people consider, like, this grinder, bell cow type running back.
90:44It was, it was a great performance from Ashton Gentry.
90:47And I don't even think he's 100% running out there right now.
90:51So, hey, now I would say, I mean, this, this six catches, five, six receptions, I think we should be banking on that pretty much weekly from Gentry.
90:59Interesting. I mean, to me, part of this is how bad Miami is.
91:03Like, they are rough both on offense and especially on defense.
91:06Like, no defensive linemen. Their linebackers are fine, but their corners and safeties are atrocious.
91:10Like, this is the easiest game that the Raiders have on the schedule for the next 11 weeks.
91:16So that's something I want to keep in mind.
91:18Ray, I did want to ask you, typically with Fent Kubiak passing offenses, it's downfield explosives.
91:23It seemed like that wasn't the case here. It was more kind of underneath stuff, intermediate-ish.
91:28How do they fill in for Brock Bowers? Like, what was the usage with Jack Bash and Michael Mayer and those types?
91:34Yeah, Mayer was right there at the top, right?
91:37Seven targets for Mayer. And I believe another seven targets for Ashton Gentry.
91:41So, well, six for Gentry, seven for Mayer. Besh really wasn't involved after halftime much.
91:45I'll just say, like, none of the receivers really felt like they were a big part of the game plan.
91:51There wasn't a lot of stuff down the field.
91:54It really felt, I mean, 5.3 yards average for Kirk Cousins.
91:57It was get the ball out of his hands as quick as possible.
92:01Like, he was not taking five and seven-step drops.
92:04There was no play action to shoot it downfield.
92:06It was get it out quick. Michael Mayer, not a lot on his receptions either.
92:115.3 yards of reception for Michael Mayer. It was quick.
92:14It was get it out. Like, it just felt like Las Vegas knew that they could get the dub.
92:19And it was, let's do what we need to to get up out of here, keep everybody healthy.
92:25At one point, like Mendoza, they're showing him on the sideline.
92:28I was like, did something happen to Kirk Cousins?
92:31Two interceptions from Kirk, you're going to get what you get from that angle.
92:35But I highly doubt, without Bowers, the way that Mayer was deployed in the route was not the way that Bowers was deployed.
92:41They play two completely different tight end roles, which makes me think that when Bowers is back, like, that's where your explosives come from, from Brock Bowers.
92:49And then Mayer is still kind of like an underneath outlet option.
92:53We got the report from this morning that Brock Bowers has a chance to play this next week.
92:58With the win, can we just buy him another week maybe?
93:02Can we just take this guy's career seriously for once in our lifetime?
93:05My other note from this one, Chris Johnson, a first-round corner, and this tends to happen with rookie corners.
93:11He was targeted 12 times in this game. So that's just like something I always like to figure out is where are
93:18the rookie corners that are actually playing? Because offensive coordinators, especially good ones like Kubiak, tend to just like target them because those guys' heads are spinning.
93:26And I think that's something we have to pay attention to with Miami.
93:29Ray, let me ask you about Miami's offense. Malik Willis, 15-27, 220 in interception.
93:34Five sacks taken. He's also the team's leading rusher.
93:36Six carries, 39 yards, one score. Devon Achan on the day as a round one-two turn running back.
93:4111 carries, 36 yards, four catches, 30 yards against the Las Vegas Raiders defense in negative game script.
93:47And then their receivers, Caleb Douglas, five for 94.
93:49Malik Washington, three for 53. Believe all of that was in the second half.
93:54And then Chris Bell, just one catch for 25.
93:56Overall, first look at this Dolphins offense. What was your takeaway?
94:00Not the same as last year. Like, that was the big takeaway.
94:03It's, it was not the same that the involvement, even the announcers were saying, Achan is a very good pass catcher.
94:09Why are they not throwing him the ball? 94.1% of backfield opportunities.
94:13Jalen Wright had one carry, zero routes, no targets.
94:15It was all Achan, but 11 carries. There wasn't much.
94:18Like, the offensive line was overmatched. Max Crosby was giving Malik Willis hell all game.
94:23Quiddie Paye was all over him. I think both of those players had two sacks in the game.
94:28Achan, you love the 16, you know, 16 touches by Achan.
94:31And you love the 21 routes, but the line has got to play better.
94:36Harmon, we kind of talked about the line. They got an all pro up there at their center position, Brewer.
94:42And they've got all these additions. You draft Caden Proctor.
94:44But it was just a rough outing. Like, this Raiders defensive line gave them fits.
94:49Caleb Douglas looked good. Chris Bell had one catch down the field.
94:52Malik Washington in the second half looked fine. This is, you know, Malik Willis, he threw for 220.
94:58He ran for a touchdown, which you're hoping that he can continue to do.
95:02And he looked fine in that. But it's very obvious that they're just lacking weapons.
95:06They're lacking big-time playmakers. They've got no tight end.
95:09Like, they didn't even get Greg Dolchich involved. I don't know what Slowick, what his game plan was in this one.
95:15It just felt like they wanted Willis to drop back and deal.
95:19And that's not the type of quarterback that he is.
95:22You got to do a little more. There was not a lot of RPO stuff with Willis.
95:27It was drop back and try to dissect the defense, and he was incapable of doing that.
95:32All right. We'll head to the next game, and this one should be quick.
95:36Pittsburgh Steelers 20, Atlanta Falcons 13, because this one went as expected.
95:39Cooper Rush cannot function. Just simply cannot function. And the Falcons' offense was entirely B.
95:44John Robinson. I mean, I can talk through that immediately if you want me to, where he had 29 opportunities B.
95:50John Robinson did. Brian Robinson had nine carries. And then the wide receivers and tight ends combined for six touches.
95:56Oh, I mean, come on. I mean, it's so bad.
95:59I mean, I can go quickly through how awful it was.
96:02Like, there was a second and 19. Kyle Pitts was open down the seam.
96:06He wins one-on-one versus Jalen Ramsey. Cooper Rush, like, gets the yips, underthrows it, and it's broken up.
96:12The passes to Drake London were high and wide and all over the place.
96:16His touchdown to B. John Robinson was B. John lining up at wide receiver.
96:20It was a wide receiver screen, so it had a negative A dot.
96:24And then he takes it for, like, a 24-yard touchdown himself.
96:27Kevin Zafansky just realized that if the ball doesn't get in Seven's hands, the ball isn't moving at all.
96:33Cooper Rush had a middle-of-field interception that was horrible.
96:35Cooper Rush then threw a pick six to T.J.
96:38Watt when he was trying to have a swing pass to the running back out of backfield.
96:43And T.J. Watt just grabbed it and ran into the end zone.
96:47This was a brutal, brutal watch. Now, on the opposite end for the Pittsburgh Steelers, there were some, you know, moments.
96:53I mean, obviously, every so often, Aaron Rodgers would have, like, some nice downfield passes, like a long shot to Roman Wilson, pass interference on A.J.
97:00Terrell that would have been a touchdown. In out-of-structure's second down touchdown to Pat Fryermuth's second-phase play in the red zone.
97:07He had another pass interference with D.K. Metcalf, and then D.K.
97:10was also called for OPI later on. We can talk about the running back rotation because that might have been the most notable takeaway.
97:17But, yeah, I mean, the Falcons are an unserious organization, and I feel bad for you for as long as Cooper Rush
97:24starts for your Drake London and Cal Petshares. It's just so early to be talking about a Cooper Rush start.
97:29Like, it's week one. It's so, so early. Josh, I don't know if this just adds to the pain or if you
97:36could even stomach noticing something like this. But can you tell me anything about, like, Drake London's alignment and usage?
97:42Because this is... It doesn't even matter. There's a consolation bracket.
97:45I know it doesn't matter. I know it doesn't matter, but it matters for me personally.
97:50So, you know. Matt, it didn't matter for me live.
97:53I was watching another game while this one was on the second screen.
97:57I'm sure we'll talk about it in stats versus film.
98:00But I don't think it matters as much if Drake London was at the X or the Z.
98:05Heck, if he was in the backfield. Like, none of...
98:08He even got a carry in this game because Cooper Rush was so panicked quickly going through his reads.
98:13He has no out-of-structure ability to his game. Like, Michael Penix off of four knee surgeries is going to be so much
98:20better than Cooper Rush in this offense. And I can't wait for the day that Michael Penix is back under center here, Hayden.
98:27Listen, but guys, I just wanted to have something to ask.
98:30I don't know why. I got an answer for you.
98:33Drake London 10 snaps in the slot. Does that move anything for you, Matt?
98:37Ooh. It's 16%. 16%. That's got to be, like, one of his lowest.
98:41Josh, real talk. If Rush starts again, are you just...
98:4459 points. So if there ever was a week, if there ever was a week, Cooper, now is the time to do it.
98:51The Steelers running back room was really interesting. It was mostly drive-by-drive early on.
98:55But that ended with Rico Dattel 39 snaps to Jalen Warren's 25 snaps.
98:59Jalen Warren did fumble on a screen early on.
99:01He also had 15 total touches, including five receptions, compared to Dattel's, I think, 10 total touches.
99:06Both got red zone snaps here. So I don't know how much we can read into any of this stuff, other than, you know, one guy fumbling.
99:14And it's not like one guy is running away with the job here in week one either, Hayden.
99:20Well, I will say the split between passes and carries in this game is staggering, considering how inept the Falcons' offense was.
99:26They dropped back, what, 42 times for the Steelers?
99:29And that's 18 carries for the Steelers. Like, that is a huge split.
99:33Like, that would be, like, leading the NFL in neutral pass rate if this holds.
99:37And, like, we have seen McCarthy dial up crazy pass-first offenses here.
99:41Like, if that's the offense that we're getting, and maybe that's just because the Falcons have no pass rushers, they can't stop the run either.
99:48So, like, you can go either way here. I think that would be a pretty big win for Jalen Warren.
99:54Like, the fact that he got six targets in this game, and they felt like they probably had a good chance of
100:00winning this throughout, that, to me, leans like this will be Warren over Rico Dattel.
100:05Yeah, we'll see. I mean, Rico was in there a lot, too.
100:08And I think Mike McCarthy really liked him just based on how that flow of the game was going.
100:14Troy Flotano left at some point. In this one.
100:17So, the first-round pick, Max Iron Atcher, came in at right tackle, and then their right tackle moved over to left tackle.
100:23I also want to add Chris Lindstrom, the Falcons' best offensive lineman, left a concussion in this contest, too.
100:29So, that goes from bad to worse there. Pat Frymuth is, again, someone that Aaron Rodgers had talked up in terms of
100:35filling in for Michael Pittman, who was injured. Now, Michael Pittman is the leading receiver here.
100:40DK's, we'll talk about DK in Sass vs. Film.
100:43He had, like, hidden yardage, both that he gave up because of OPI, and that was taken away for DPI, too.
100:49So, it doesn't show up here, but I really do believe DK was the wide receiver one for this team, and it
100:55shows up in the 10 targets by, again, just four catches for 40 yards on top of that.
101:01Okay. Ray, we'll go through this. While I was wrong about the Dolphins being frisky in week one, I was correct about
101:07the Jets being frisky as they dominate the Tennessee Titans 23-10.
101:11Geno Smith, 19-24, 2-50. Brees Hall, 22 carries, 102 yards and a score.
101:14Garrett Wilson, 6-79. Adonai Mitchell, 3-60. Jets fans are in heaven.
101:18They should feel good. They should feel great after this one because the Jets look like a, I mean, they just look so much more prepared.
101:25It was the best players on the field, every position, both sides of the ball, belonged to the New York Jets.
101:32Omar Cooper Jr. starts that thing off with a 30-yard reception on the first drive, then he sprains his ankle and he leaves.
101:38Kenyon Sadiq, rushing the score. Brees Hall and Braylon Allen looked great.
101:42Braylon Allen also had, I think it was close to a 20-yard touchdown run, called back due to a holding penalty.
101:48Brees Hall getting all the work out of the backfield.
101:51I mean, he's just spinning off of defenders. Bell Cal Brees, I thought Braylon Allen played exceptionally well.
101:56And Geno Smith was good. He did what he needed to do.
102:00No touchdowns, no interceptions, no sacks. He was only hit one time.
102:03This Tennessee defense could do nothing to get Geno Smith off his mark, under pressure.
102:08And he got the ball to Garrett Wilson. 30% target share, as Garrett Wilson always does.
102:13Brees Hall and Braylon Allen led the backfield. Wasn't a big day from Kenyon Sadiq, but he's healthy.
102:18He finished the game. I was pleasantly surprised with what I saw from the Jets' offensive side of the ball.
102:24Ray, can I ask about Garrett Wilson? Was there any slot involvement?
102:27It looked like he's kind of a part-time player here.
102:3023 routes on 28% of the dropbacks. Was that because of the game at the end?
102:35Or was anything different about Garrett Wilson, as we can actually probably take him serious for the first time as a potential top 15 fantasy receiver?
102:43Yeah. If you watch it back, which I highly don't recommend you do, Hayden.
102:47They moved him around quite a bit. He was all over the place.
102:51Downfield work. It wasn't cheap, gimmicky stuff for Garrett Wilson.
102:54And there was another, his one target that he didn't get.
102:57I mean, it would have been another big play for Wilson.
103:00I thought he played really well and made some good grabs.
103:03And it was, Geno Smith knew where to go.
103:06Like, he played under control. He got the ball out on time.
103:10I was, I'm watching them. And I'm like, man, I am, I'm using this loosely, impressed with this Jets' offense.
103:16But, y'all, I'm telling y'all that Tennessee, there are big, big problems in Tennessee.
103:20Big problems. Big problems. Yeah, let's talk through that.
103:22Because it was like 0-0, six minutes left in like the first quarter.
103:26This should be like an early play sheet call for Brian Dayball.
103:30And he has like a double reverse action where Cam Ward, the action is him flipping the ball to himself as he's
103:36hitting the end of his drop back. And then he hits his back foot and then drives straight up into a sack.
103:43Like, we said it in the summer, but Brian Dayball is probably looking at the last season of his play calling.
103:49That is just, you don't see that across the league.
103:52That's horrible stuff. 49 plays for the Titans. 49 plays, 4.0 yards per play.
103:56I'm not trying to be hard on Cam Ward.
103:59At some point, the excuses have to stop. I mean, he's drifting back.
104:03It should have been a safety on one of the plays.
104:06There was one point where he like shuffled the ball backward.
104:09Like, he just like pitched it to somebody. It looks like he had no idea what was going on.
104:15And I don't want to discount the Jets defense, but it's not like they were playing the 85 Bears out there as well.
104:22Like, this offense, you talk about inoperable. The offensive line was a mess.
104:25Cam Ward's footwork, his mechanics in the pocket. It's either big play or bust.
104:29I mean, Cardinal Tech caught the ball, but it doesn't matter when it goes for like 20-something yards.
104:35Wondell Robinson, it doesn't matter when he's getting thrown the ball four or five yards down the field.
104:40Tony Pollard, nothing on the ground. Tajay Spears running.
104:43Cam Ward couldn't hit swing routes to the running backs out of the backfield.
104:47It was that bad. They didn't score a touchdown until two minutes left in the game.
104:52And you're just like, yeah, the touchdown game with two minutes left, two minutes and 50 seconds left.
104:57And Elik Aumannor gets a slant route, scores a touchdown.
105:00Awful, awful performance from the Tennessee Titans. And I am very concerned for Carnell Tate, Wondell Robinson, and Brian Dayball as a play caller.
105:07I only have two things to add here because I pretty much watched zero seconds of this game.
105:12Maybe we'll keep it that way. We'll see. One, Surrender Index, which is an account on Twitter, tracks like cowardly punts.
105:19The Titans with a minute and 12 seconds left in the third on fourth and nine while losing three to 20, they punted.
105:25That was a 100th percentile out of cowardly punts since 1999.
105:29And then our friend Easton Freeze asked Robert Sala after the game for his message to fans who are shell-shocked and tempted
105:35to save their money and be apathetic about this football team.
105:38It's week one. Dude, it was bad, y'all. Like, I'm not trying to be funny here.
105:43It was bad. Right. It's about to get even worse.
105:46The Titans then get Vic Fangio's defense in week two.
105:49Then the fourth game of the season is Jesse Minter's Baltimore Ravens.
105:53Then the fifth game of the season is D'Amico Ryan's Houston Texans.
105:56So three of these next four games are three on paper of the best defenses in the league.
106:01And you only put up 10 points and what, 140 yards?
106:05I guess the week one. I mean, that's brutal stuff.
106:08How many points are they going to score? The last note that I have is I feel very bad for Jeremiah Smith
106:14or Arch Manning because that looked like the worst team in the NFL today.
106:18They look awful. Matt, question for you. Who scores more points?
106:22The Chicago Bears through week eight or the Tennessee Titans through week 18?
106:25Oh, definitely the Bears. The Bears. I mean, easily.
106:28Easily. Easily. Yeah, no question. That's the easiest question you've asked me all episode.
106:32So 18 games versus eight games. We're going with the team with eight games.
106:36Take it to the Bay, Josh. Yes. That is incredible stuff.
106:40Wow. Okay. Hayden. And speaking of maybe even worse offenses, we'll close out with you.
106:44The Cleveland Browns scored 10 points in their debut with Todd Munkin as Deshaun Watson goes 16 to 22.
106:50205, though. Five sacks taken. He is the team's leading rusher with six carries for 38.
106:54We're bearing the lead where the Jacksonville basically had to take their foot off the acceleration for the entire second half.
107:01Posting 34 points. Posting 34 points in total. Trevor Lawrence, 18 of 23 to 45 for touchdown passes.
107:06We'll talk through the wide receivers. Parker Washington with 85 for 83 and one.
107:10Jacobi Myers, two for 40 and one. And then obviously the running back room.
107:14Ray, the Browns have the Titans and it's going to be a close competition this year.
107:19This game was equally as bad with the Browns.
107:22It was within three minutes of the game. Deshaun Watson, I mean, threw it directly to a Jacksonville defender.
107:27That one was really bad. There was many other missed opportunities for interceptions.
107:31But what was so strange about the brand, not strange, like very predictable.
107:35The reason why they went with Deshaun Watson in a road environment is because like he can execute the offense.
107:41There were so many delay of games or needing to call a timeout to avoid delay of games in the two minute drill.
107:48He had to take a delay of game for no reason.
107:51That set up a first and 30. His time to throw was like almost four seconds in this one.
107:56Later in the game, they had to call a timeout for a delay of game where he's like literally at the line
108:03of scrimmage with his wristband going through the place.
108:06Like with as the seconds go down from two to one to zero.
108:09There was nothing functional about this game. Denzel Boston catches like a go ball touchdown.
108:14That was a great catch from him later on.
108:17They try to get Casey Concepcion going a little bit.
108:19There's like an end around. There was a screen.
108:22He fumbled on that screen. He did have a little out route for a first down.
108:27But it was to the point where this team is so horrific that this could be a team like the Titans where
108:33it's like you can't start anybody to the point where I think should do or probably should just start the following game here.
108:40There was like nothing that Deshaun Watson did at all.
108:43Even what they were trying to say, like you cannot watch that game and say the operation was good at all.
108:49So all that's predictable. Jacksonville is going to kick everyone's ass.
108:53They got pass rushers. They can stop the run.
108:55They got obviously Travis Hunter out there at corner as well.
108:59But that was like as bad as he gets there.
109:01And then Dylan Sampson leaves with the knee injury.
109:04So it's just like you really can't you really can't start anybody here.
109:08I mean, this is the downside of drafting someone like Quinchon Judkins, who's I think a tough rank for me because he's
109:14so awesome with the ball in his hands as a runner.
109:18And yet when you face an overpowering full of Monstars defensive line like the Jaguars, he just has no chance and you're going to get negative game script.
109:26And then he has, you know, two targets for 17 yards on top of his 12 carries for 33.
109:32So, Matt, I mean, we're not going to get a horrible matchup like this all the time.
109:37But at the same time, it's going to be tough to, I think, pick your spots with Quinchon Judkins unless he's, you know, just a flex player.
109:45Yeah, I think he's a flex only type for now.
109:48They get the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tampa. So now you have to deal with the Vita Vea of it all over there.
109:54So it's not going to get any easier this next week.
109:58He did it on that swing pass. He did like a break a tackle and he still looks awesome to me, but
110:04he's like a low end flex until proven otherwise.
110:07Deshaun Watson, like at least like looked more athletic than he had before.
110:11But his decision making is so far away from what is acceptable in the NFL that even that as a compliment, like is completely irrelevant.
110:18On to Jacksonville, a serious team, serious organization. Trevor Lawrence was phenomenal in this one for a couple of reasons.
110:24One, he was not under duress. There was only four pressures on 24 dropbacks, 17%.
110:28This could be one of the worst offensive lines going into the NFL this year.
110:33And that did not seem to be a problem.
110:35Jared Verse went pressureless in this one for Cleveland.
110:38That's not a good sign over there. But with Trevor, you had to scramble drill touchdown finding Jacoby in the back of the end zone.
110:46That was an awesome play for Trevor. Backside dig touchdown, play action, quick touchdown, where if you look at the end zone
110:52camera from the broadcast, there was like four or five Browns defenders hands putting up and Trevor put it right on the money.
110:59It was a little bit of a rotation across the board here.
111:02BTJ leaves early, then comes back in. He had a catch over the middle.
111:07He had a toe tap catch, but largely wasn't that heard from.
111:10It was Parker Washington to me as like clearly the top target diving touchdown on the crossing route, where if you watch that play, he's in the slot.
111:18He gets man coverage. I mean, just absolutely dusts him like right away.
111:22He has a one handed catch like near the sideline later on.
111:26Like it seemed like just one of those players where you can tell who the first read is like on a deeper route.
111:33And that seemed to be Parker Washington in this one.
111:35Jacoby Myers was the recipient of that scramble drill touchdown later on.
111:39Cole Strange dig route touchdown in the red area.
111:42So Trevor Lawrence did not miss the entire game.
111:44One sack, four touchdowns and only five incompletions. There's like everything was working there.
111:48Only like one of them was like truly startable.
111:51And that was Parker Washington, five for 83 in a tud.
111:54I'll ask about Basial Tootin versus Chris Rodriguez. Now, this wasn't a four quarter outlay.
111:59That was not necessary. But the box score says 15 carries, 66 yards for Basial Tootin, along with one catch for 22
112:05compared to Chris Rodriguez, six for 23. This was one of those games that you would hope for a short yardage touchdown
112:12for Chris Rodriguez when he scored 34 points. But it didn't happen.
112:15Did not happen. Tootin started this game. He obviously got the most carries by by quite a lot here.
112:21Chris Rodriguez was out there for that play action goal line touchdown that I was talking about.
112:26That was to Josh Cameron, by the way. That was the second touchdown of the game.
112:31That was not garbage time. Like Josh Cameron was out there for a little bit.
112:35Travis Hunter was not. But Chris Rodriguez, I wouldn't say that he's like for sure going to get all the short yardage
112:42work because Tootin got a little bit kind of between the 20s, like on a third and one situation.
112:47But Chris Rodriguez was out there for that goal line snap.
112:51He's purely touchdown or bust. Unfortunately, Amir Abdullah was actually playing in kind of like a LaQuint Allen type of role.
112:57It's going to be a rotation. I can't say that Tootin or Chris Rodriguez looked way better than one another.
113:03Tootin looked a little bit more explosive. Liam Cohen had some nice things to say about Basial Tootin.
113:08I do still worry that this could be a little bit kind of trap backy if Chris Rodriguez is going to get the goal line stuff.
113:16And for Basial Tootin, he had a screen reception for 22 yards.
113:19Yeah, that was his only target of the game.
113:22There's just like no reason to throw the ball to the running backs if you're going to get Trevor Lawrence to park
113:28Washington, BTJ, Jacoby, you name it, down the football field.
113:31So I just wonder if like that Liam Cohen-Bucks offense that was so, it was just kind of rotating around the running back group.
113:38I just don't think that this offense is going to be like that one at all.
113:43Harmon, any questions? How long would you say that Jacoby Myers was wide open before he finally got the ball thrown his way on that touchdown?
113:51There was, they showed a different angle and there was a Browns defender that was originally guarding him who was just like
113:57laying down on the ground for a little bit.
114:00But credit to Trevor for eventually finding him. That was a robe and good to like see Trevor like throw the ball accurate.
114:07Like sometimes like he throws the ball accurately and then other times like he's way off.
114:12This is one of those games where like everything was like right on the money.
114:16So shout out to him. Yeah, this is one of those kind of two game samples I want to package together.
114:22They get the Browns in week one and then they're on the road in Denver for week two.
114:28The Jaguars are. And so we're going to kind of learn some lessons from that department.
114:32BTJ left for a portion of this game, Hayden?
114:35Yeah, as we have all talked about Travis Hunter kind of seemed like the de facto X wide receiver for BTJ.
114:41But did that kind of turn into Josh Cameron here?
114:44Yeah, so Josh Cameron was a standout in camp and like Shipley by the end of camp was saying Cameron's going to play more offense than Travis Hunter.
114:52And that's exactly what happened here. Now Travis Hunter came in there for his four snaps on offense.
114:58I think he got a carry and then I think maybe like another screen or something.
115:02He basically was in there as like a like, you know, Kadarius Tony type of player out there.
115:08But that was that was that was like when like Brian Thomas was silent.
115:12I think I think it was a kind of like that.
115:15So he's a very good corner. We'll leave it at that.
115:18OK, Ray, any closing questions before we get out of here?
115:22I just it feels like and Hayden, I didn't watch this this game in entirety, but it felt like there's probably some
115:28more upside in this pass catching room. Trevor Lawrence only threw the ball, what, 23 times?
115:33I just I feel like there could be some more inside this Jags receiving room.
115:37I would hope that they consolidate the looks a little bit more.
115:41Just every like one target here, two targets there.
115:44Like, let's condense that up. Get Parker Washington the ball some more.
115:47And I thought BTJ looked well before he got before he got injured.
115:51I thought he played well and looked good. Yeah, he came back to the game.
115:55I have no negative notes to say about Brian Thomas in this game.
115:59Parker Washington 18 of 25 routes on the drawbacks out there.
116:02So not a full time player. But I will say he just to me does look like the most like well-rounded wide
116:09receiver, like the most involved out there. And when they are going to be in closer games, like they will drop back a whole lot more.
116:17And I think that this is going to be maybe more of a pass first offense than they have been before.
116:23I mean, if you listen to Liam Cohen, like before the season, talk about the running backs is like, you know, we're trying to get by here.
116:31I would not be surprised. Four, six. Yes. Four, six, eight, like four, six, eight.
116:35That's pretty much what happened today. And then it was just like 25, 30, 32 to the best players would just happen
116:42to be all of the pass catchers. All right.
116:44That does it. 12 games in the books, 12 game covered by the four of us.
116:49If you're looking for like both the Wednesday and Thursday recaps, guess what?
116:53Hayden and Matt already did that for you. They're on the forecast channel.
