Aaron Jones

NegativeInjury45:00

Jones left Week 2 game early and slammed his helmet, raising concerns he might be out, but he finished the game with 105 yards on 23 carries; he's dealing with soreness heading into Week 3, and Kevin O'Connell's wording about his status ("we'll just keep getting treatment around the clock and see if we can pick up his workload as the week goes on") suggests some uncertainty, though the expectation is he'll play given Green Bay has no viable backup.

Insight page
PositiveProjection46:20

Jones played 90% of snaps heading into halftime in Week 2, then missed a couple snaps before returning; since 2024 without Jordan Mason, he's been RB20 and RB13 in usage; the Buccaneers defense has weak linebackers, creating pass-game opportunities; Hayden We has a very aggressive ranking on Jones, viewing him as "too big to fail" if healthy, with potential to get highlighted in the passing game.

Insight page

Amari Rodgers

NegativeValue25:45

Hampton is ranked RB11 (two spots ahead of consensus RB13), but his fantasy stats mask underlying concerns. While he has volume (RB9 in carries), his film and metrics look negative—the opposite of Breece Hall's situation. He's fumbled in both games, and the Chargers offense has not delivered on expectations despite Mike McDaniel's scheme. The Bills defense has allowed 20+ fantasy points to a single RB in each game, but Hampton's overall approach and offensive fit are concerning. He's a volume play and a bet on the Chargers offense improving, but not an elite back. At a certain point, you can only fade him so much given the lack of competition in the backfield (Keaton Mitchell is part-time, Kamani Vidal is not getting touches).

Insight page

Bijan Robinson

NegativeProjection5:54

Justin Boone ranks Bijan Robinson as RB3 for Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night, but Hayden Witt argues he belongs in A tier rather than S tier. Robinson has 29 touches through two weeks, including 19 in the Week 2 blowout. The Falcons are the only team that has yet to run an offensive play in the red zone, which is concerning for touchdown upside. However, with Michael Penick's returning at quarterback, Robinson's upside is significant: he was RB1 in fantasy points per game (21.6 half-PPR) over 12 games with Penick's last year. The Falcons are only projected for 19.75 points, and the Packers defense has improved with Jonathan Gannon as defensive coordinator.

Insight page

Breece Hall

PositiveProjection23:15

Hall looks healthy for the first time in years and is performing well on film. He owns 62% of red zone carries and 50% of carries inside the 10-yard line. The Lions allow a league-high 2.7 yards before contact per attempt and rank dead last in explosive rush rate allowed (18.2%), creating potential for vintage Hall explosives. He's averaging 19 carries and 3.5 receptions, with potential for 6-8 catches in games where the Jets trail (likely against the Lions). The Jets are projected for only 20.5 points on the road, but Hall is a strong play given his health, volume, and the matchup.

Insight page

Bucky Irving

PositiveRole43:41

Dominant snap share and usage through two games: 61% and 79% of snaps, 183 yards and a touchdown; getting two-minute drill and goal-line work with Kenneth Gainwell not limiting him as expected pre-season. Hayden. We was wrong pre-season expecting Gainwell to step into Rashad White role.

Insight page
NegativeMatchup44:03

Faces tough Week 3 matchup against Vikings and Brian Flores defense; Vikings have allowed only 11.4 PPR points per game to running backs over last four games, which is worrisome especially given Baker Mayfield's pressure issues.

Insight page
NegativeRole44:20

Irving owns only 37% of carries inside the red zone for Tampa Bay so far, which needs to increase for him to be a reliable fantasy asset; this limited goal-line role is a concern despite his first-step ability.

Insight page
NegativeProjection44:20

Film review shows Irving has lost explosiveness compared to previous years; while he has a great first step and can avoid disruption, he's one of the slowest running backs in the NFL once he hits the second level, and lacks the game-changing moments and real explosives that defined his earlier play.

Insight page

Chase Brown

PositiveValue21:33

Brown is a buy-low candidate despite running back 18 scoring under 17 points in both games. He faced tough run defenses (Buccaneers, Texans) and now gets the Steelers, who allow 23rd in yards per carry and 28th in first-down/TD rate on runs (28% conversion). Brown has RB5 usage with 11 targets through two games and a top-five ceiling. The Bengals are using more under-center formations designed to generate explosives from Brown, and his offensive line may be underrated. He's an excellent buy-low candidate with better matchups ahead.

Insight page

Christian McCaffrey

PositiveProjection7:18

Justin Boone ranks Christian McCaffrey as RB4 for Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals. Despite being RB9 in points per game through two weeks with snap shares of 55-52%, McCaffrey remains a stellar fantasy asset. Last week against Miami, he played over 75% of snaps and handled over 70% of backfield work before the 49ers got up big and involved other backs. Boone expects CMC to continue getting volume and scoring opportunities. McCaffrey has a 23% target share (RB3) and is catching 4.5 receptions per game (RB5). He's losing some between-the-20s work but retains high-value goal-line touches; last week he got three inside-the-5-yard-line touches while Kalen Black got none. Last year against Arizona, McCaffrey had 140 scrimmage yards and 10 catches in their first meeting, then 121 yards and 3 TDs in the second game. The 49ers are 8.5-point favorites with a 28-point projection.

Insight page

Chuba Hubbard

PositiveValue32:00

Hubbard is ranked RB13 (ahead of consensus RB19) and is a standout pick. With Jonathan Brooks out for 6-8 weeks, this is now Hubbard's backfield. He's a top-15 fantasy back most weeks moving forward. Despite not getting massive volume (14-15 touches per game), he's RB1 in success rate and was already the RB12 in fantasy points per game two years ago on RB7 usage—exactly what he looks like now. He's played 75% of snaps inside the 10-yard line with all six backfield touches in that area. The Rams are projected for 24 points (down from 30), but Hubbard's efficiency and scoring opportunities remain strong. Cleveland allows 5 yards per carry (27th) and 28th in success rate with poor after-contact metrics.

Insight page

D'Andre Swift

PositiveBreakout41:21

Hayden Weis describes DeAndre Swift as 'freaking awesome' and places him in B tier for the week. Swift has a revenge game matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Insight page
PositiveMatchup41:31

Revenge game against Philadelphia Eagles provides a small projection bump; Ben Johnson may lean heavily on rushing attack given negative game script and potential Case Keenum start, creating pathway for Swift to produce despite tough Philly defense.

Insight page
NegativeProjection41:31

Ranked RB25 for Week 3 despite being a borderline low-end RB1/high-end RB2 for rest of season; gets a small revenge-game bump against Philadelphia but faces negative game script with Case Keenum likely starting (which depresses entire Bears offense). In six games since 2025 where Bears scored 21 or fewer points, Swift averaged 10.8 half-PPR points (RB23 pace); projected for 18.5 points against Vic Fangio's defense but remains in drive-by-drive rotation rather than workhorse role.

Insight page

Emanuel Wilson

PositiveSleeper67:31

Josh calls Emmanuel Wilson the biggest sleeper at RB24 in usage. He's getting subbed in at the goal line and will get fourth-quarter work against the Commanders. With Jadarian Price's injury status uncertain, Wilson could be a touchdown-or-bust option if Price doesn't play.

Insight page

Emmett Johnson

PositiveRole4:58

Hayden Witt suggests Emmitt Johnson could sneak into flex consideration in Week 3 against the Dolphins, putting him in the same conversation as Blake Corum. Johnson has looked good early in the season and could be flexed in this high-scoring matchup where the Chiefs are projected for 28.5 points.

Insight page
PositiveSleeper67:12

Boone mentions Emmitt Johnson as a top backup and one-injury-away guy who could have flex value in good matchups. Similar to Kaylin Black, Johnson is positioned to benefit if the Seahawks get up big against the Dolphins, potentially getting fourth-quarter work.

Insight page

J.K. Dobbins

NegativeRole63:36

Hayden is confident J.K. Dobbins will dominate touches when healthy. Dobbins had cramps last week, which won't carry over. Every time he's available, he runs away with every touch including at the goal line. The main concern is the Broncos face the Rams and are expected to lose with only 21.5 projected points, and Dobbins doesn't catch passes. But Hayden expects Dobbins to be the starter and get most carries until proven otherwise.

Insight page

Jadarian Price

NegativeInjury58:00

Jadarian Price is ranked RB38 in consensus but RB26 for Boone, likely because consensus assumes he'll be out. Price is expected to practice all week and the team downplayed the injury as minor with a chance to play. The main concern is whether the Seahawks will give him a full workload even if he plays, given they're big favorites against Washington and Wilson had three goal-line attempts before the injury. Boone sees Price as a low-end flex option if healthy, not a must-start, but worth monitoring throughout the week.

Insight page

James Cook

NegativeProjection16:00

Justin Boone ranks James Cook as RB7 for Week 3 against the Chargers, placing him in A tier but noting it's a tougher matchup. Cook had a quieter day against Houston in Week 1 but went off in Week 2 against the Lions (when basically everybody on the Bills went off except TJ Moore, who got hurt early). The Chargers held Ashton Gentey to 63 yards on 25 touches, suggesting Cook may not have a huge day. Boone has been struggling to place Cook relative to Jonathan Taylor and Ashton Gentey. Cook doesn't have much backfield competition other than Josh Allen, but Ty Johnson would get more involved in the receiving game if healthy. Ty Johnson has been dealing with a hamstring injury and hasn't played this year; he was limited in practice last week. Cook's targets per route are the same as the last two years with no evolution in his passing game role despite the addition of DJ Moore and Don Kincaid's breakout. The Bills are projected for almost 29 points.

Insight page
PositiveProjection17:57

Cook is projected to have a strong week against the Chargers, who have been a defensive liability and are projected for almost 29 points. Despite coming off a 20.4-point week on 22 touches in week one, Cook's fantasy points are anchored by that performance and will continue to rise as he moves toward the top 10 backs. The Chargers' weak defense and the Bills' offensive strength create a favorable matchup.

Insight page

Javonte Williams

NegativeProjection39:43

Hayden Weis ranks Javante Williams lower than consensus (RB 16 vs. consensus RB 12) despite owning 66% of the team's red zone runs, citing concerns about what he's seen on film through two games. Williams is averaging under three yards per carry this year versus almost five yards per carry last year—a nearly two-yard drop that Weis attributes partly to offensive line injuries (Tyler Smith on injured reserve). The Ravens have allowed the second-fewest rushing yards per game to running backs since week 10 of last year (66 yards per game). Williams is RB 5 in expected points since 2025 but RB 10 in expected points this year. Weis views him as primarily a volume play in a better offense, hoping the rushing attack will improve as the passing game finds its stride.

Insight page

Jeremiyah Love

PositiveBreakout53:56

Hayden and Josh expect Jeremiah Love to break out soon despite Algier playing 59-64% of snaps in the first two games while Love sits around 40%. They compare his situation to Bajon Robinson's rookie year, noting Love is a high draft capital pick who will eventually get his opportunity. Hayden sees Week 4 as more optimistic than Week 3 due to the 49ers defense, but expects Love to catch 4-6 passes against San Francisco if the Titans fall behind, which would signal the role shift coming.

Insight page

Jonah Coleman

NegativeInjury63:36

Jonah Coleman suffered an ankle injury during the game and is now missing practice. This creates uncertainty in the Broncos backfield alongside J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey, making it a three-person backfield with Tyler Bidet potentially getting passing down snaps when Harvey misses.

Insight page

Jonathan Taylor

PositiveProjection18:50

Taylor is one of only four running backs averaging over 25 fantasy points per game, with the next closest (DeAndre Swift) at 21 PPG—a significant gap. He's performed well against tough defenses (Ravens, Chiefs) and now faces the Texans, another tough matchup, but the Colts are catching them at the right time. Taylor has increased his passing game role with 7 catches for 63 yards through two weeks, putting him on pace for almost 60 catches (career high). He's also a pivotal red zone player, especially inside the 10-yard line, where he should see increased volume given Josh Downs is the WR1 and Tyler Warren has been the primary TD target.

Insight page
NegativeMatchup20:00

Taylor faces a tough Texans defense, but the matchup may not be as difficult as expected. The Texans have defensive issues at tackle and edge depth, with Jadavion Clowney missing time. Taylor had 86 rushing yards plus 36 receiving yards against Houston in week 13 last year (when Daniel Jones was injured and the Colts used a backup QB in week 18). The Colts are ninth in scoring despite two difficult early matchups, and Shane Steichen's offense is competent, suggesting Taylor can still produce in this spot.

Insight page

Kenneth Walker III

PositiveProjection4:02

Hayden Witt ranks Kenneth Walker as RB2 overall for Week 3 against the Miami Dolphins. The Chiefs are 11.5-point road favorites with a 28.5-point team total. Walker is averaging around 31.5 opportunities per game and has career-high targets last week with RB1 overall usage. The Dolphins defense allowed Ashton Gentey to go RB5 in Week 1 and Christian McCaffrey RB3 last week. Walker has nothing negative to say about him; he's in the S tier with Gibbs.

Insight page
NegativeMatchup35:59

Kenneth Walker's strong Week 1 split against Denver is likely an outlier; the Broncos defense, despite losing John Franklin Myers (DT) and an edge rusher, will not be a top-five unit against running backs, suggesting Walker's production may normalize downward in subsequent weeks.

Insight page

Kyren Williams

NegativeProjection34:30

Williams is ranked RB14 and has been a low-end RB1 in fantasy points per game for the last three years despite modest workloads (14 touches per week). He finishes as RB16 and RB8 because he scores touchdowns and is efficient. Blake Corum has become a viable RB3, but Williams remains the RB2 play in the backfield. Since week 10 of last year (including playoffs), Williams is RB9 in usage and Corum is RB14, suggesting the split will remain stable. The Rams are projected for 24 points (down from 30 PPG average), which removes a touchdown from the board—not necessarily from Williams individually. The Broncos are missing defensive pieces (John Franklin Myers, an edge rusher) and are not a top-five unit against RBs, but Kenneth Walker's week-one performance may have been an outlier.

Insight page

MarShawn Lloyd

NegativeRole66:49

Marshawn Lloyd is benched after his fumble, playing only 1 of 22 snaps. Caleb Johnson took over all the carries, signaling a significant role change for Lloyd.

Insight page

Mike Washington Jr.

NegativeRole14:00

Justin Boone notes that Mike Washington Jr. has not gotten involved in the Raiders backfield as much as expected through two weeks, which is surprising given how things progressed through the summer. Boone still views Washington as a player people should hold onto as a potential one-injury-away guy who could have significant value if Ashton Gentey gets hurt. Gentey had an injury scare last week but returned to the game.

Insight page

Quinshon Judkins

PositiveMatchup56:07

Hayden calls Quinchon Judkins the sneaky play and potential shock performer of the week against Carolina. Despite 12 carries for 21 yards last week against Tampa Bay and being held below 50 rushing yards in 8 of his past 12 games, the Panthers allow 6.3 rush yards per attempt (highest in the league). Hayden had a bold summer prediction that Judkins could be a top-15 back, and this is the critical week to prove it. He also caught 5 receptions in the last game without Dylan Sampson in negative game script, showing some receiving upside. Hayden rates him as a flex start, not a bench player, contingent on Deshaun Watson playing turnover-free football.

Insight page

Rhamondre Stevenson

NegativeRole62:03

Ramondre Stevenson saw a snap share flip in Week 1 due to a fumble, with Trevion Henderson taking over. Against Jacksonville's strong run defense, both backs are expected to be used, with the game plan determining week-to-week usage. The matchup is a primary reason both Patriots backs are ranked low.

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

NegativeInjury29:00

Barkley suffered a stinger and was undergoing an MRI as of Wednesday afternoon (recording time). The team indicated he would likely be okay, but his status for the Chicago game is uncertain. If he plays, the matchup is favorable: the Bears allow 2 yards before contact per attempt (second-worst in NFL), and Barkley ranks fifth in rushing yards expectation per attempt. However, the Eagles' left side offensive line has changed (center moved to left guard), which could affect run blocking. Tank Bigsby should be rostered as a handcuff; if Barkley misses time, Bigsby would be a high-end RB3. Will Shipley is a deeper option in super-flex leagues.

Insight page

Tank Bigsby

PositiveRole30:00

Bigsby should be rostered as a handcuff to Saquon Barkley. If Barkley misses time due to his stinger, Bigsby would be a high-end RB3 play. In deeper leagues, Will Shipley also got work and snaps and could be stashed as a risky flex. Bigsby got more touches than Shipley when Barkley was out last week.

Insight page

Tony Pollard

PositiveMatchup59:51

Boone has Tony Pollard at RB27 in C tier with a little bit of hope. Both Pollard and Spears are sitting out with soreness but likely won't miss the game. Against the Giants, Boone sees Pollard as having high-end RB3 upside, with RB2 potential if he finds the end zone. The Titans performed well against the Eagles last week with their backs combining for over 100 yards, suggesting they can stay competitive against New York.

Insight page

Travis Etienne

NegativeRole60:49

Hayden criticizes Travis Etienne's role, noting film showed him as a decoy on nearly three straight snaps in pony personnel with Alvin Kamara, with passes thrown to Kamara instead. Two other pitches went for losses (one fell incomplete, one bobbled for a 6-yard loss). The rotation appears set with Kamara getting every other touch on early downs and CJ Donaldson handling passing situations. Additional concern: the Saints lost left tackle Kelvin Banks for months. The only positive is the Saints are first in neutral pace and projected for 23 points, but Hayden doesn't love the role.

Insight page

TreVeyon Henderson

PositiveBreakout62:03

Boone sees Trevion Henderson as a potential fantasy league winner type who could eventually take over the Patriots backfield. Despite the tough Jacksonville run defense matchup, Henderson showed explosiveness in his debut last week and the Patriots need that playmaking ability. Boone expects both Henderson and Ramondre Stevenson to be used quite a bit week-to-week based on game plan, but Henderson's upside is significant.

Insight page

Ty Johnson

NegativeInjury17:00

Ty Johnson has been dealing with a hamstring injury and hasn't played in 2024. Last week he was limited in practice. If Ty Johnson gets back healthy, he could eat into James Cook's receiving work, which is a concern for Cook's value since Cook's targets per route have remained the same as the last two years with no evolution in his passing game role.

0:00Welcome to the Week 3 Running Back Rankings. Yes, Boone is back along with Hayden.
0:04We go through 1 through 42 of the running backs here on this list and it's fully tiered out.
0:09Okay, you've got your S tier all the way down to your D tier.
0:13So I know so many of you are confused about your flex options.
0:16Who do I start after the two running backs in my starting lineup?
0:20Is it this wide receiver? Is this tight end?
0:22Well, hopefully we talk through all the names to help you master your lineup ahead of the running backs.
0:27Head of Week 3 along with the overformers and underperformers, the sell highs and the by lows.
0:32We've got it all here on this episode of Yahoo Fantasy Football with Josh and Hayden.
0:36Week 3. Yes, it is already here. Time for the running back rankings.
0:40And gentlemen, obviously we're going to go through tiers with this.
0:43We added that dimension onto the show last week.
0:45I'm even going through like the running back ones and the running back twos.
0:49Boone, I feel like the flex conversation this week and with wide receivers and moving forward.
0:53Might be different than it's been for the last four or five years in fancy football.
0:57Whereas not to make this tight end show, but like really it's now a three position flex versus a two position flex.
1:03Well, that sounds pretty good considering I'm a guy who drafted two decent or at least I think decent tight ends in our expert league.
1:10And that is not the last time we will talk about the expert league today.
1:14I got a few things to say about that one, but yeah, absolutely.
1:17There are some tight ends that can sneak into the flex.
1:20And there's also like some wild injury situations where we're getting updates, like right before we jumped on to record where we
1:26thought it was completely one way in terms of injuries in these backfields.
1:30And now they've completely flipped. We're finding out guys that we thought were the healthy ones are actually hurt today.
1:35So we'll sort through all of that, but we got a lot to talk about.
1:39So I noticed the same thing where I feel really excellent about like the top 24 wide receivers.
1:44And then after I get to about 22 in my running back rankings, things are starting to get really split, whether it's
1:50like quarterback injuries are affecting running backs or we have some like real tandem that are going to make this a lot more difficult.
1:56So I, I feel really good about the top, let's say 18 running backs.
2:00Then after that we are, we're in, we're in kind of trouble right now.
2:04And on the final tight end note, this is something that we talked about all summer where more and more heavier personnel eliminates, you know, the quality.
2:11And I would also say even more so the quantity of wide receivers that are viable in the flex again, versus five years ago.
2:17And if in those heavier personnel, sometimes the tight end is the number two or number three pass catcher on the field.
2:23So again, it opens it up. Keep your mind open more so than it has been in previous years.
2:28These are Justin Boone's rankings. He is updating them into the last second until, until kickoff.
2:32So is Hayden on top of that. By the way, Hayden, you are what fourth in the fancy pros rankings at this moment.
2:39Again, I will repeat room for improvement. I don't like being this high.
2:42It's too much pressure. Well, you know who does enjoy being this high?
2:46Jameer Gibbs is Justin Boone's one-on-one at the running back spot this week.
2:49He faced off against the New York, New York jets.
2:52What do you want to say here, Boone? I look forward to getting to a week where he's not the number one.
2:58That'll be interesting because I feel like most of these weeks he's going to occupy this spot, but yeah, what is there to say?
3:04They're huge favorites. They're back home. It's going to be a ton of points in this contest.
3:09They've scored 31 points in each of the first two games.
3:12He's awesome. He's awesome. He's going to be a great fantasy play basically every single week.
3:16And Josh in the summer, we talked about some bold predictions.
3:19And one of the ones I had was that he was going to set the single season scrimmage yards record.
3:24Well, right now he's on pace for 2,542 yards.
3:26And that record is 2,509 yards by CJ2K. Although there's a 17 game, 16 game thing going on there, but we won't even mention that.
3:33We don't need to bring that up. Regardless, he is on pace for just a monster season and he's going to have another big game this week.
3:40Only negatives right now is they're missing their center, their left guard and their right tackle.
3:45We'll see if any of those players are eligible to return.
3:48Maybe Blake Miller, the right tackle will be able to do that.
3:51That said, they're still projected for almost 28 points.
3:53Fifth most since week 10 of last year, Jets are allowing the most fantasy points per game to running backs adjusting for schedule.
3:59So this is a obvious running back one overall spot.
4:02It only took until week three, but we have a new name at the running back two spot.
4:07That is Ken Walker III, our guy, K-9. This is at the Miami Dolphins.
4:11Just to put that in perspective, how good the Chiefs offense has been this season.
4:15They're now on the road, 11 and a half point favorites against this Miami Dolphins defense.
4:1928 and a half point team total. Boone, we've talked about it.
4:22Ken Walker averaging around 31 and a half opportunities.
4:25I'll be perfectly fine to settle for about 26, 27 per week.
4:28Yeah, for sure. And I think it's nice for Jameer Gibbs that we're going to give him a friend up in this S tier, right?
4:34Like get somebody up there with him for once.
4:37And that's how well Kenneth Walker is playing. And that's how good this matchup is, right?
4:41Ashton Gent, he went against this defense RB5 in week one, CMC RB3 last week.
4:45You know, you have the number one running back in fantasy points per game against arguably, maybe not even arguably, the worst defense out there.
4:52And Hayden, I'm curious, we'll talk about this guy maybe a little bit later, but I'm curious in this kind of matchup
4:58with the points that we're expecting them to score with how well Emmitt Johnson has looked.
5:02Is this a spot where maybe we could even sneak Emmitt Johnson into our flexes?
5:06Yeah, I think he's at the same conversation as Blake Corum.
5:09I hope we're not at that point before by weeks and like full injuries, but I think that you can get away with it.
5:15But like you said, he's absolutely in the Jameer Gibbs conversation for this week.
5:19Projected for the most points, the Dolphins made Ashton Gentey look good at football in week one.
5:24That's sometimes difficult to do. I'm mostly kidding about that.
5:26Yeah, there's nothing negative you can say about Kenneth Walker.
5:29Career high in targets last week. RB1 overall usage like this is as good as it possibly could have been.
5:34Hayden, are we getting picky? Is this the top two?
5:37Is this the S tier? And there's a gap between this group and the next group.
5:41I think there is. But if we don't think if we don't want to have like five or six different rows here, I'm okay with continuing on.
5:49But I think like my true serum would be it's these two guys and everybody else.
5:53I think we should be honest here, Boone, and say that B.
5:56John Robinson, as you're running back three, belongs in A tier and not S tier.
6:00This is at the Green Bay Packers. This is obviously Thursday night.
6:03Boone, one stat for you. The Falcons are the only team remaining that has yet to run an offensive play in the red zone.
6:10We know that's where the vast majority of touchdowns happen.
6:12That's not just inside the 10-yard line. That's in the red zone altogether.
6:16So he has 29 touches and 19 touches in the week two blowout.
6:19They kind of gave him a bit of a breather once they got to the fourth quarter.
6:24What are you expecting here with B. John in week three?
6:27Well, the reason that he's a tier below is just the unknown, right?
6:30The unknown at quarterback. I think Michael Penick's coming back is going to be really good for this offense.
6:35We saw this offense with Michael Penick's, albeit different coaching staff.
6:38But still, we saw Michael Penick's get these guys in good fantasy positions last year through the first 11 weeks before Penick's got hurt.
6:45He was the RB4 in fantasy points per game.
6:47Drake London was the wide receiver three overall. Not to spoil your episode on receivers, but I think Drake London should move
6:53back into a range that we're used to seeing him in potentially for this game.
6:57I think it's a good spot for him. But yeah, regardless, Sean Robinson is so talented.
7:01He's got so many different ways than he can get there.
7:04When Penick's was playing last year, we saw him get at least five targets in eight of those 10 games.
7:10So I think we're going to see him come through, have a big contest.
7:13I just don't think necessarily we can put him up with that top group yet until we see Penick's in this new
7:19scheme performing and giving them like decent quarterback play.
7:22Yeah, the upside is 12 games with Michael Penick's, who's the RB1 21.6 half-peer points and RB2 overall.
7:26You said that's the upside because I'm not sure how good of a player Penick's is going to be in this scheme coming off of another injury here.
7:34They're only projected for 19 points. I will give some credit to the Packers defense.
7:38Jonathan Gannon is an elite defensive coordinator, according to his own head coach there, Lucas Van Ness, coming on.
7:43Javon Bullard coming on at safety as well. I do think this Packers defense is going to be a lot better than
7:49it has been in the past short week for the Falcons here.
7:52But, you know, he's still going to catch six passes, even if he doesn't get it done on the ground.
7:57Yeah, he's the running back seven so far this season in points per game.
8:01But again, those 29 and 19 touches do a lot better when the team is better.
8:05Yep. Again, getting back to the, you know, scoring opportunities.
8:08And just overall, Reeves pointed this out. With Cooper Rush in the field, Bijan was averaging .84 fantasy points per snap.
8:14With Michael Penick's, that rate is 1.02 points per snap.
8:16So that factors in everything that we just said.
8:19All right. Your running back four is Christian McCaffrey.
8:21This is against the Arizona Cardinals. It's interesting. He is still a stellar fantasy asset, obviously, because this team is scoring a lot of points.
8:28Still the running back nine in points per game at this point.
8:31But that includes a 55 and 52% snap. But boom, this is a matchup that we just want to have every single 49er in our lineups possible.
8:38Yeah, for sure. And last week, we haven't really gotten like a normal game to see what would happen with this offense.
8:44Right. The Rams game in Australia. They kind of blew them out and took control of that one.
8:49We saw Caleb Williams get involved a whole bunch.
8:51And then last week with Miami, it's kind of a weird one where they got up really big.
8:56And before they got up, we saw him playing over 75% of the snaps.
9:00We saw him handling over 70% of the work in that backfield.
9:03And then down the stretch, they just handed it to Black.
9:06And I think even Jordan James got out there at one point.
9:09They just kind of let the other backs get involved.
9:12So CMC, not the same player. Still going to get a lot of volume.
9:16I'd like to see like a normal game where we can figure out just how much they're going to use both of these back.
9:22Because I don't think Caleb Black is going away.
9:25I think they are going to continue to get him involved.
9:28And that's going to just bring CMC down a little bit.
9:30But I also think it's so smart to do this.
9:33I mean, Kyle Shanahan saw the Seahawks in their division do this last year and keep Kenneth Walker healthy.
9:38And then when they needed to unleash him, they did at the end.
9:42I think they're probably hoping that CMC can stay healthy and that they can make a Super Bowl run.
9:47And they can maybe give him more work once they get to that point.
9:51But regardless, it's still CMC. He's going to get enough volume.
9:53He's going to get scoring opportunities. And with all the injuries that we've seen to this offense, guys, like he has to handle this kind of workload.
10:01So yeah, he's still a great player for fantasy.
10:03Also my RB4, there is some positives still. 23% target share through two weeks is awesome for a running back.
10:08That's RB3. Still catching four and a half receptions per game.
10:11That's RB5. He's losing some between the tackles or between the 20s work.
10:15But last week, there was three drives where Christian McCaffrey got an inside the five-yard line touch.
10:19Kalen Black did not get any of those on three separate drives there.
10:23So that's telling me that the high-value touches are definitely going to go Christian McCaffrey's way.
10:27I don't really care about losing a run up the middle from the 50-yard line.
10:31So I still think he's an awesome player. Yeah, and last year, he had a lot of success against the Cardinals.
10:37I know there's some changes, obviously, year to year, but 140 scrimmage yards and had 10 catches in their first meeting.
10:42And then in the second game, 121 yards and three touchdowns when they squared off there.
10:47So a lot of signs pointing to him having a good game here.
10:50To your point, Boone, Nick Rollis is still the DC as he was last year, even with the head coach, a new head coach coming in.
10:57So there is some stability there. It's always a good sign when two of the top four ranked running backs are on
11:03the teams with the two top projections of the week.
11:06And also the biggest point spreads as well at 11.5 and 8.5 for the Chiefs and the 49ers.
11:11Hayden, I want to come to you first with Derek Henry, who's also in this tier as the running back five.
11:16This is at the Dallas Cowboys. It's so fun.
11:19I mean, again, we're here in week three. In the summer, you can tell yourself, well, Derek Henry might not pay off
11:24if the Ravens aren't as good and they work from negative game scripts.
11:28And then you can on the opposite end of that say, well, the Ravens are going to be pretty freaking good.
11:34And when they're good, Derek Henry scores at least 12 touchdowns.
11:36RB3 and RB7 usage so far averaging 20 carries over 100 rushing yards.
11:40That's like the normal for Derek Henry. The thing I'm paying attention to, Ronnie Stanley, their left tackle toe injury is kind
11:46of in and out of the lineup. I'd like to see him out there because he's like probably their best offensive lineman right now.
11:52And then the other kind of new thing is a couple more targets than usual to Derek Henry.
11:57I think that's largely just like a Declan Doyle thing.
12:00Three of his targets were like checkdowns. Like I wouldn't read into that.
12:03And a couple of them, Derek Henry's like laying on the ground and gets up and then is out in the route.
12:09So they weren't like necessarily by design. But at least two weeks in a row, there was a screen involvement.
12:14And I'm not going to say he's going to catch that many more passes than usual.
12:19But just one. One more a week. Like that's an extra fantasy point in favor of Derek Henry.
12:24Yeah. Four catches for 38 yards through two games is extremely notable for a guy that had what, 15 catches and like 150 receiving yards last year.
12:31Like he's well on his way to having much higher receiving stats this season.
12:35So that's big. Very high projection for this game.
12:37Yeah. Derek Henry. Josh, you mentioned like people in the summer talking themselves out of Henry.
12:41That's me. I'm the guy that's always talking myself out of Henry in the summer and going, no, the age curve.
12:47It's totally going to fall apart. This dude's going to play until he's like 50.
12:51He is one of one. He is the king.
12:53I am wrong. I bow down. And, you know, I just I ask for his forgiveness on this one.
12:58He's going to have another great fantasy season. Hey, is it already fair to say that at the one to turn, the
13:04ideal picks would have been Derek Henry and Ken Walker?
13:07Like, is that what the draft should have been at the one to turn?
13:11Yep. Turns out, you know, the teams that are always in the playoffs, they're running back.
13:15You want those running backs? Yeah, that's pretty good.
13:17And we know that they're awesome at football. Yeah.
13:20Kenneth Walker and Derek, I think if you watch a single game of theirs, they might be good.
13:25Like, yeah, turns out. Okay. Ashton Gentry is up next for you, Boone.
13:28This is different than consensus. He's running back eight for consensus and running back eight for Hayden.
13:33He's your running back six. Does he also belong in the A tier for you?
13:37Yeah, he's still he's still in this tier in my mind.
13:40I mean, we saw the big game in week one.
13:42We know going against the Saints, there's going to be a lot of opportunity for for plays for scoring.
13:47We've seen that with other guys this year so far.
13:50I mean, New Orleans, 186 yards and two TDs to Gibbs in week one, 87 and a touchdown to Henry last week.
13:56I know Hayden kind of joked around about Ashton Gentry and his talent level earlier, but I do think he belongs here.
14:02I would put him up against. It's very close with James Cook, obviously, and with Jonathan Taylor, not to spoil the next couple here.
14:08But these guys are all very close. If you want to shuffle them up, put them a different way.
14:13To me, it's just sort of matchup based. And I like Gentry situation here.
14:17We're not seeing Mike Washington Jr. get that involved in this backfield.
14:20And that's almost surprising. I did think the way things progressed through the summer.
14:24I know there was the Gentry injury, obviously, but I thought Mike Washington would get more involved.
14:28I still think he's a player that people should be holding on to as a potential one injury away guy who could
14:34have a lot of value if Gentry gets hurt.
14:37We had an injury scare last week, right? We saw him leave with trainers, got back out there.
14:42Those seems like he's fine. But yeah, that's one thing that is kind of surprising to me that Mike Washington Jr.
14:47Not really a thing in this offense so far.
14:50Gentry was stuffed on four straight inside the five yard line carries and then had the three dropped.
14:54I don't think it was the best game all around for for the Raiders through two weeks.
14:59Point 11 missed tackles per care, which is pretty low.
15:02Point four yards before contact is also pretty low for the Raiders.
15:05So it's a better environment. It's not the greatest environment still for Ashton Gentry.
15:09He's still catching a ton of passes and he's going to get all the goal line work.
15:13So I think he's firmly an RB one Saints defense has been like pretty solid over the last couple of years with Brandon Staley.
15:20I think Chase Young's been playing excellent football at edge rusher there.
15:23So I think that he's going to be totally fine as an RB one volume play.
15:27Totally good at an A tier. This is such a different team environment than the ones we've already talked about where again,
15:33the Chiefs project for 28 and a half. The 49ers projected for 28.
15:36The Ravens project for 28. The Lions projected for 27.
15:39Obviously, you have the Falcons down at 19 and three quarters, but only just above that is the Raiders next at 20 and a half.
15:46So, you know, Brandon Staley in his past has been known to just allow the run and then not give up explosives.
15:52That's changed a little bit in recent years. But obviously the Saints had a whole bunch of injuries along their interior defensive line.
15:58So I think this is a good test for the Raiders versus, you know, the week one Dolphin stuff and then what
16:04week two they face on top of it of what this really is for him.
16:08Next up is James Cook as you're running back seven.
16:10Is this A tier or B tier, Boone? This is still A tier.
16:14Okay. It's a little tougher. It's a tough matchup going against the Chargers, right?
16:18And, you know, we saw him have a quieter day against Houston in the opener.
16:22Of course, he goes off where basically everybody for the Bills went off in that Lions game except for TJ Moore who got hurt early, of course.
16:29Hopefully he's going to be okay. We want to see him back out there as a Bills fan.
16:34But yeah, this one's a little bit tough, right?
16:36Like you think the Chargers, they held Jente to 63 yards on 25 touches.
16:40Not great there. I wouldn't be surprised if Cook doesn't have a huge day, which is why I moved Jente above him
16:46and why I've kind of been struggling with the Jonathan Taylor and the Cook and trying to figure out where he belongs here.
16:52But he just doesn't have a lot of backfield competition, right?
16:55Other than Josh Allen, he doesn't have another back that's taking anything away.
16:58But I do want to say on that note, Ty Johnson would be the guy that would get more involved in the receiving game.
17:05And Ty Johnson's been dealing with a hamstring injury.
17:07He hasn't played this year. Last week was limited in practice all week.
17:11Let's monitor that one because I do think if he gets back out there, that's another reason that I think we would
17:16be worried about Cook because we haven't seen this thing that we talked about all summer and that we heard the beat
17:22writers talk about where his role in the passing game might evolve and he might get more work.
17:27There hasn't really come to fruition yet. And if Ty Johnson gets back healthy, he might actually eat into that a little bit as well.
17:34So that's one thing where Cook's value. He's had some big games.
17:37He'll continue to have some big games. But if he wants to be in that next level above, he would need to
17:43have that role in the receiving game. And we just haven't really seen it yet, guys.
17:47The same exact targets per route in this year as the last two years, like nothing's changed.
17:52And I don't know why they would change that up.
17:54You add DJ Moore and Don Kincaid's breaking out.
17:57I don't know why you would throw the ball to James Cook.
18:00They're projected for almost 29 points. The Chargers have been a complete joke.
18:03And they're at home here. And like James Cook's going to go crazy.
18:07I think that the Chargers like held the Gentie at the goal line this last week.
18:11But there were still some opportunities for Gentie in the passing with some of those drop passes to get going there.
18:17And I just don't think the Chargers like that skilled on defense, just looking up and down the roster.
18:22Yeah, they're running back 12 in points per game so far.
18:25James Cook is, but he's coming off a 20.4 point week.
18:28And that was on 22 touches. So I think like that week one is still kind of anchoring him from that department.
18:34And it'll just only continue to rise there until the top 10 back.
18:37Who would have thought you guys talking up the Bills player and me trying to talk down the Bills player?
18:43Shocking. We're just trying to get you to rank him above Ashton Gentry this week.
18:47I think that's what we're doing. Yes. Okay. Jonathan Taylor is up next.
18:50Fantastic player. And on paper, a difficult matchup against the Houston Texans.
18:53Boone, you are two spots below consensus here. He's running back six for them.
18:57And he's running back eight for you. Still A tier or B tier?
19:00Still A tier. I made a few mistakes in that expert league when it came to the middle rounds.
19:06I don't regret the bold call to take Jonathan Taylor at 103, though.
19:09He's playing really well. He's right up there with the top guys at the position, right?
19:13There's four backs that are averaging over 25 fantasy points per game.
19:17He's one of them. And the next closest guy after that is DeAndre Swift at 21.
19:21So there's a big difference so far between having one of those four versus having any other backs here.
19:26You know, he's been outstanding. And, you know, he's done it against the Ravens, against the Chiefs.
19:30So two pretty tough defenses. Now he gets the Texans, another very tough matchup.
19:34So the matchup is a bit of the tiebreaker here.
19:37I'm maybe leaning on that a little too much.
19:39But that's why I have him bumped down below the two guys in front of him here.
19:44Colts are also underdogs. Now we don't have Alec Kearse.
19:46We don't have that threat to kind of pull defenses away.
19:49I'm starting to get worried that defenses are going to come down and start to crowd and be a little bit more of a problem for him.
19:57But he's so good. He can still break off these runs.
20:00He can still have a big game, which is why, in my mind, he still belongs in this A tier.
20:05Texas have a couple issues that defensive tackle and their edge depth.
20:08Like Jadavion Clowney has been missing some time, too.
20:11So I think the matchup is definitely difficult. It's maybe not as difficult as you'd possibly think heading into this season.
20:16I think the Colts have played very good football.
20:19They're ninth in scoring, even with those two difficult matchups to open the year.
20:22Taylor had 86 rushing yards plus 36 receiving yards in week 13 against Houston.
20:26Last year, that was when Daniel Jones was completely limping around off a broken leg.
20:30And then I'm just throwing out the backup quarterback game in week 18.
20:34So I think he's just too good. I think Shane Sykin's too good.
20:37And I think they're catching the Texans defense, I think, at the right time.
20:41And unlike the James Cook situation, this is actually a spot where there was talk in the offseason that Taylor would get
20:47maybe more work in the passing game. And that's actually coming to fruition, right?
20:50Seven catches for 63 yards as a pass catcher so far.
20:53So that would put him on pace for almost 60 catches.
20:56That would be a career high for him. So hopefully that can keep up for my fantasy teams that have him and
21:02for everybody else out there the drafting. And my other thought is once they get to the red zone, he is such
21:08a pivotal player for them, especially inside the 10 yard line.
21:11Like their wide receiver one is Josh Downs now, you know, I don't think of Josh Downs as this go-to player in
21:17the tight field, you know, Tyler Warren has gotten there on touchdowns so far.
21:21We'll see if that continues or if that, you know, kind of progresses back to what it ordinarily is.
21:26So I think some JT stuff inside the 20, inside the 10 is on the way even more.
21:30Okay. Let's talk about Chase Brown as you're running back nine.
21:33Boom, just quickly at the Pittsburgh Steelers, one word answer, A tier or B tier?
21:37We're B tier. We are dropping down to the B tier, even though I'm pretty hopeful for him this week.
21:43You know, the Steelers have been hit pretty hard in the ground.
21:46They're giving up the seventh most fantasy points to running backs this year.
21:49Brown went off against them last year, at least 100 scrimmage yards in both games.
21:54I think there's potentially a situation where you might be able to buy a little bit low on him.
21:59So my GP Ryan is really a concern. I think this is a player that last year showed he had like a
22:04top five ceiling, has a role in the passing game, can really do it all.
22:08So I think bigger days are ahead and I think it could start this week.
22:1211 targets through two games. I really like Brown.
22:15I liked him before the season. Maybe that's carrying over a little bit here, but I think he's going to get some
22:21better matchups and I think we're going to see some exciting fantasy days from him.
22:25Hayden, stats versus film. We talked about some bylaws.
22:27I should have thrown in Chase Brown's name. I mean, he's running back 18 right now under 17 points in both games.
22:33But I think you can really say that because they face the Bucks run defense and then the Texans defense, you know,
22:39and now he's about to get the Steelers who have allowed backfields to score 23rd in yards per carry.
22:44And they've allowed a first down or touchdown on 28% of those runs, which is 28th across the league.
22:49So this is, I think, a nice bounce back spot for Chase.
22:52Every week I write words, hoping that you guys are going to read these words.
22:56And my first sentence for Chase Brown is Brown is an excellent bylaw.
23:00My RB9 as well. The usage is still there.
23:02RB5 usage. They're doing more under center stuff, which I think their theory of that is to get more explosives from Chase Brown.
23:08I think eventually we will get that. I still think their offensive lines may be a little bit underrated at this point.
23:14So I like the aggressive ranking from Boone here.
23:17I totally agree with it. And I do think that he's one of the best by lows of the week.
23:22Okay. Brees Hall is up next. This is at the Detroit Lions.
23:25He still does own 62% of the red zone carries 50% of the carries inside the 10 yard line and Detroit.
23:31I look this up. Boone is allowing a league high 2.7 yards before contact per attempt.
23:35Now they face some good offenses so far. They also rank dead last and explosive rush rate allowed at 18.2%.
23:40So maybe just maybe we get like the vintage Brees Hall explosives, especially with this offensive line.
23:45He gets to run behind. Yeah, we saw Travis H and Kendra Miller pair up to have over a hundred scrimmage yards
23:51against some James Cook, obviously 139 yards last week.
23:53And really guys, and I'm curious to get your take on this one.
23:57Does Brees Hall just not like look good this year?
23:59He finally looks healthy. Yeah, we've dealt with years where he was injured or the offense was just a complete disaster.
24:05We're getting a little something from the offense this year.
24:08There's some reasons to be excited. And he looks really good in my opinion.
24:12So he's somebody that I've actually been trying to trade for in some leagues, hoping that other managers maybe don't realize just
24:17how good he looks and the potential that he has behind that line.
24:21And in a Jets offense, that could be a little better than people expected.
24:25You caught that ball in the flats on the screen.
24:27Just like he looked awesome to be there. So that was I agree at that point.
24:32And the other point is they're projected for 20.5 points on the road against like a team that's competing for a Super Bowl in the Lions.
24:39Like there's competency in New York for the first time in his entire career.
24:42And I think that this is the healthiest he's looked since that injury on top of that.
24:47He's going to lose some work to Braylon Allen, but that's also just because they're using their running backs entirely so much.
24:53He's still averaging 19 carries, three and a half receptions.
24:55And there's going to be some weeks when if they are trailing, which I think the Lions are just going to pretty
25:01much like not punt against the Jets defense the entire game where he's going to finish with six, seven, eight catches in a game.
25:08I think that this could be one of them.
25:10So I really like Brees Hall here. But yeah, through two weeks, six most touches behind like all the big names that you would expect.
25:17So he's right there in terms of volume. Hayden, we'll talk about this on the wide receiver show on Friday.
25:22But are you at all surprised that the Jets are only projected for 20 and a half points here?
25:27Yeah, I think let's play a game environment where I would just be looking at the higher on both teams, you know?
25:33Yeah, you know, 27 versus 20 and a half.
25:35Like I'm not saying the Jets are going to pull off this upset, but like I can see this being, you know, 35 to 24.
25:42Yep. Like that a lot. Okay, next up, Boone.
25:45How does it feel to be two spots ahead of consensus on an LA Charger?
25:49Yes. Amar in Hampton is your running back 11.
25:51He's running back 13 in consensus rankings. This is at the Buffalo Bills.
25:54The Chargers are the most disappointing team in the league.
25:57And I would say Amar in Hampton's fantasy stats and production are kind of showing you one side of positivity.
26:03And when you actually watch him and look at some of the underlying metrics, a lot of that is negative.
26:08It's like the opposite of the breeze hall thing, right?
26:11Or like you feel really excited about how hall looks.
26:13I think we had a lot of optimism for Hampton and yet it doesn't look great.
26:17All the things we were hoping for from this offense and Mike McDaniel, it has not come to play yet.
26:23Hopefully over time. Like we have to give some of these teams a little bit of time to get comfortable with these new schemes and stuff.
26:30But I think we thought we'd get a lot better out of the gate in some good matchups here.
26:35The Bills defense, I mean, still a work in progress.
26:38They've given up at least 20 fantasy points to a single running back in each game so far.
26:42I don't know if Hampton's going to be that guy, but there's things you hate, right?
26:47You hate that he's fumbled in both games. You hate the overall just approach of this offense.
26:51And yet who's coming for his touches like Keaton Mitchell is just that part-time change of pace kind of guy.
26:57He's not a volume player. Kamani Vidal is not even really getting touches in this backfield.
27:01So it's still going to be Hampton. He's going to get the work.
27:04It's just, yeah, it's more of a volume play and a bet on a hope that this offense is just going to
27:10start to figure things out as we go. I'm totally fine buying low on Omar and Hampton.
27:15Like once we start pricing pricing in like that, he's not like an elite running back and that the Chargers are not going to be an elite offense.
27:22Like he's going to be too involved in this offense to like completely tank.
27:26Now, I don't think that he would be drafting him 16th overall.
27:29I never really was, but he's still the RB nine in carries.
27:32I think that he is going to catch way more passes than he has in the first couple of weeks.
27:38I do think that's what he can do. And there will be times where he's going to be able to hit the corner and rip off big explosives.
27:45I'm with Justin. Like there's, there's not many other options, but to keep giving the ball to Omar and Hampton.
27:51I think eventually he's too explosive that there, that there will be big plays at the same time.
27:55They are projected for the 17th most points. And if people were expecting the Chargers to be top five, that level of
28:01production is just like not going to turn the corner with the schedule.
28:05But I think at a certain point you can only fade on Ryan Hampton so much.
28:09So I actually, I'm with Justin here. I don't love Hampton, but I'm, I'm ahead of consensus as well.
28:14I really hope one of these weeks they just remove the magnets from his shoulder pads that go directly to the defenders.
28:20That would be nice. Okay. Saquon Barkley is up next for you.
28:23This is at the Chicago bears. Look, it's been bad in terms of run blocking.
28:27I will say this. The left side of the bears defense is allowing far more successful runs than their right side is.
28:33Unfortunately, that left side for the Eagles is a center that has turned into left guard and a center spot, which changed up for Philly.
28:40But if we are going to get a good game here from Saquon Barkley, it can happen this week.
28:45The bears are allowing two yards before contact per attempt.
28:48Second worst in the NFL. And Saquon is still fifth in rushing yards expectation per attempt over the minimal touches he's had so far, Boone.
28:54So maybe I'm just coping, but I just want to share those stats before you get going here.
28:59Yeah. I liked your little Saquon Barkley state of the union there.
29:02I thought it was important. I think people were waiting for that with him there.
29:06I mean, there's obviously the huge asterisk with the injury as well.
29:09Like I haven't seen an injury update. We're recording this on Wednesday afternoon.
29:13Not sure where he stands after having the stinger.
29:15He was going for an MRI. We'll see if he's available to play this week.
29:19They kind of made it sound like he was going to be okay.
29:23But I was also recommending that everybody go pick up tank Bigsby if he wasn't already rostered in your league.
29:28So hopefully people did that. Also like a little bit deeper down.
29:31If you're in one of these like super sickle leagues, like I know we are, will Shipley got a bunch of work
29:37and a bunch of snaps up there as well.
29:40So he could be somebody that you might want to stash just in case.
29:43But it would be tanked Bigsby. He got more touches.
29:46He's the guy to roster. If Barkley was going to miss time, he'd be a high end RB three kind of play.
29:52Shipley would just be like a risky flex here.
29:54You look at the matchup. I mean, they're giving up the ninth most fantasy points to running backs.
29:59They just let Aaron Jones hit them up for 105 yards.
30:02Like I think Barkley would be okay in this one if he's out there as long as he's healthy and as long
30:08as they're not limiting his touches and trying to get the other guys involved or anything like that.
30:13I feel like stinger. It's like either you're playing or you're totally fine or you're not playing.
30:17So I think that if he's out there, this is probably going to be the range.
30:22I'll have him in Chicago six most rushing yards allowed in 2025 and Chuba Hubbard him for almost 24 half PPR points in week one.
30:28You mentioned 100 plus yards for Aaron Jones. So I think they're going to win this game pretty easily because, you know,
30:34we're talking about a third string running back and Josh, like you said in stats versus film, like they're going to be
30:40committed to trying to fix this run game. I'm not sure if we're like, it's ever going to get back to the 2024 numbers.
30:47So from 2025 to week one of this, this year, he's the RB 17 on RB six usage.
30:51Like, can we make that RB nine? Like instead of RB 17, I think like that's the goal.
30:56I'm not expecting top five running back numbers from them at this point.
31:00Eagles are still going to try to run the football though.
31:03And I'll say this, uh, this bears team might really struggle if case Keenum is the starter and that could maybe give
31:08the Eagles some short fields here, which is always in favor of the offense.
31:12And I will add on the, you know, Shipley tank Bixby split that we saw last week when Saquon went out, you
31:18know, the Eagles were trailing from behind and almost all that game.
31:21And so we're expecting them to lead this one.
31:24I would really lean into tank Bixby. If Saquon does miss this one for the positive game script Ness, um, of it all.
31:30All right. These are your standard ground picks presented by DraftKings sports.
31:33Every game day means more with DraftKings sports. The crown is yours.
31:36And Boone this week, his name is Chuba Hubbard.
31:39This is back-to-back weeks with Chuba Hubbard being the stand your ground picks.
31:42This is at the Cleveland Browns because Boone, you have him as running back 13 and he's running back 19 in consensus rankings.
31:48Well, I mentioned earlier some mistakes that I made in the middle rounds of our expert draft.
31:53I'm looking at it right now because I wanted to make sure that I knew exactly where Hubbard ended up.
31:58I thought I knew who took him, but I needed to make exactly sure.
32:02And of course it was Hayden. My huge mistake there was that I preached all summer long, fill out your lineup, then go get your quarterback.
32:09And yet I got enticed in the seventh round.
32:11I went and got Jalen Hurts. I didn't go get Chuba Hubbard, who I knew at least early in the season, the
32:17play was going to be that he was going to be the starter.
32:21You were going to get that work from him.
32:23And then maybe Jonathan Brooks would come on along the way and then you'd have to figure it out and find someone else for that spot.
32:30But that would have made perfect sense for my team.
32:33And yet I didn't listen to my own advice.
32:35I went with quarterback. Hayden gets Chuba Hubbard, which looks like what?
32:38The best fantasy pick right now at the moment.
32:41Like this guy with now Jonathan Brooks out. Of course, we didn't know that was going to happen.
32:46But Jonathan Brooks out for six to eight weeks here.
32:48Now this is Chuba Hubbard's backfield. Man, he's going to be a top 15 fantasy back most weeks moving forward, right?
32:54Like he is going to be a great fantasy play.
32:57Hayden nailed it. It's awesome. They have no one else in that backfield.
33:00AJ Dillon might get some touches. Austin Eckler went in there for a visit today.
33:04He's 31 and coming off a torn Achilles. Not sure what he has left in the tank.
33:09So Chuba Hubbard, this is back to two years ago, back to 2024 when he was the RB 12 and fantasy points per game.
33:15He's the man. He's a great play. And even though he's not getting like massive volume, I think he's just been around
33:21like 14, 15 touches here in these games. He's still getting so much work.
33:25The scoring opportunities, this offense looking better than it has.
33:27Hayden, congratulations, man. It was a great pick by you.
33:30Yeah, good, good run out for him. But he's also RB one in success rate.
33:34Like he's playing good football on top of it.
33:36The offensive line is a little bit better than maybe we were expecting.
33:40And I think the big thing is he was already the RB 12 on RB seven usage just two years ago.
33:45And that's exactly what he looks like right now.
33:48So the team is projected to win against the Browns on the road here.
33:52I consensus is like very clearly wrong here. Like I think that you can even make an argument that he can be higher than this.
33:58I have not RB 13 right now, but like I feel excellent about that.
34:02Yeah. And I think part of his touches were that they were leading so much into the fourth quarter last week that he didn't really have to play.
34:10Um, and I mean, he's played 75% of the snaps inside the 10 yard line with all six backfield touches in that area of the field so far.
34:17And Cleveland right now has opened the year allowing five yards per carry to running backs, which is 27th in the league
34:23with to your point success rate 28th in success rate, uh, and really bad after contact.
34:27So yeah, Chuba Hubbard have a week. Let's go next up.
34:30Kyron Williams continuing on this tier. This is at the Denver Broncos.
34:33So quite a bit of a change versus the giants defense to the Broncos defense.
34:37And that lands. Kyron is running back 14 for you.
34:40People have been running on the Broncos defense this year a little bit.
34:44And this is another guy where he's not getting these massive workloads.
34:47That's kind of never really been his story, right?
34:49He's getting there because he scores touchdowns in this offense because he's pretty efficient out there.
34:53A 14 touches each week, still finished as RB 16 and RB eight.
34:57That's just the story with Kyron, right? The last three years, he's been a low end RB one in fantasy points per game.
35:03He just gets there. Even though Blake Corum has now become like a very viable RB three type for fantasy.
35:08Kyron is still that RB two play and a guy that I think you can feel good about having in your lineup.
35:14And I don't really see maybe other people think that Corum is going to take over more work as we go here,
35:20but I don't think this is going to change.
35:23I think this is how they want the backfield to be with Kyron as that main guy with Corum working in a
35:28whole bunch, both backs kind of helping lead the way right now.
35:32We'll see if Pukenokua plays this week, but regardless, you can have both these guys in your fantasy lineup.
35:37He's the RB nine and RB 14 usage since week 10 of last year.
35:40That's when Blake Corum was like officially mixing in that includes the playoff games during that stretch.
35:45The Rams were averaging 30 points per game this week.
35:48They're projected for 24 points. So that's you're taking a touchdown off the board.
35:51That does not mean it has to come from Kyron Williams individually.
35:55So I moved him down from like that split and I feel okay with that.
35:59Kenneth Walker got the Broncos. I do wonder if like that was a Kenneth Walker thing.
36:03And then like everyone else will be like, you know, kind of swallowed up by the Denver Broncos defense.
36:08They did lose John Franklin Myers, a defensive tackle.
36:10They are missing one of their edge rushers. Uh, so they're not going to be a top five unit against running backs,
36:16but you know, I think that Kenneth Walker week one split will be like the outlier.
36:21I liked your point at the start here, Hayden, because I'm a Kyron guy, but this environment where they're expected to win,
36:26but the point total is probably low based on the opposition probably means that Kyron stays out of the end zone for the first time this season.
36:34You know, in, in week one, uh, they were trailing.
36:36So he played a lot. And then in week two, they scored a boatload of points at 28 plus.
36:41Uh, and so here, if their total and the team and this, the game total stays this low, then I do wonder
36:47if, uh, if he does get in or if he doesn't, and that could be a big change for him.
36:53All right. Devon H and we're going to keep it going in this tier is your running back 15.
36:58This is versus the Kansas city chiefs. You are three spots above, excuse me, below Hayden on this one who has them as the running back 12.
37:05So, uh, Boone, you go first. Actually, let me do this.
37:08Hayden, give me the optimistic pitch on Devon H and this week against the chiefs.
37:12I love it. Targets per game, five and a half from 2024 to 2025, 5.2.
37:16Nothing's really changed. They're getting the same amount of screens.
37:19I'm still seeing him catch swing passes in the offense.
37:21I watched the ground game. He's got 15 and a half carries this, this year, uh, from 2024, 2025, 13.4.
37:27Nothing structurally has changed for Devon H in terms of how he's getting his touches, how many touches he's getting that actually that number is up.
37:34He's still the RB eight in usage. The dolphins have to play better.
37:37I know that's what everyone's saying. The dolphins aren't going to play better.
37:41It's like totally understand that, but we have not seen the explosive from Devon H and that is coming.
37:46They're not like changing the offense. This is still the Devon H and focused offense.
37:50Don't love the matchup. The chiefs, uh, give, you know, inexperienced play callers a ton of trouble.
37:54And that's exactly what this is. Um, but I, I don't think that, you know, the coaching staff has like forgotten how
38:00to use Devon H and like they're using him in all the exact ways that we'd want to the live betting markets
38:06have them predict for 90 and a half total yards here.
38:09Uh, will he score a touchdown? I'm not sure, but they don't have anyone else to get the ball to right now,
38:15especially with Caleb Douglas, uh, and Jalen, right. That both of those guys picked up injuries.
38:19So it's a volume based play, but at some point, Devon H is going to look like Devon H.
38:24Yeah. Last week, 26 touches, 93 yards. That's the story you got to tell yourself, right?
38:28Hasn't found the end zone yet. The matchup is a huge part of it here for me.
38:33Hayden. Like, I just don't think the chiefs are the defense where he's going to get over on them.
38:38And to be honest, like the schedule is not softening up after this.
38:42It's the Vikings after this. It's the Bengals who are much better with Dexter Lawrence now against the run.
38:47So I'm very worried about H and I haven't had an opportunity to do the panic meter shows with Harmon on Mondays
38:53for the first couple of weeks here for obvious reasons.
38:55I'm going to be back on there and I'm going to push to talk about H and because I'm just very, very worried about him.
39:02I thought there was a path for him to still come through, man.
39:05I'm worried about this dolphins offense as a whole.
39:08And I think it's going to bring him down this year.
39:11So we'll see some games where volume wise, he like gets there just enough, but we're not going to see as many touchdowns.
39:17And it's unfortunate because he's a really talented player.
39:19Yeah. Second lowest team total this week. I, Hey, and I agree with you that like the usage is very similar.
39:25I'm just worried that it's Bobby Sloick doing the usage and not Mike McDaniel in Miami with the usage.
39:30Um, but we'll see. I mean, he's still an awesome superstar that has been unable to show that.
39:35I think that superstardom this year, he's running back 24 in points per game to open the season, but that's just two games.
39:41Okay. Next is Javante Williams, uh, volume, volume, volume.
39:43He's running back 12 though. And consensus rankings, boon, he's your running back 16.
39:47He owns 66% of this team's red zone runs.
39:49So why are you lower than consensus against the Ravens?
39:52I feel like I haven't really loved what I've seen from him so far.
39:56Obviously it's been a weird kind of couple of games for them.
39:59Um, you know, you thought you'd get a lot more of the running game last week at the way that game went,
40:05but they did it through the air. Maybe the rushing attack will come along here.
40:09Maybe the injuries in the offensive line are a bit of a problem.
40:12I know yards per carry could be like a really misleading stat, obviously, especially on small sample sizes.
40:17But like last year he was averaging almost five yards per carry this year under three yards per carry.
40:22It's almost two full yards difference that could change again.
40:25This is only two games, but I just haven't really loved what I've seen from him.
40:29So he's another one of these guys that I think belongs in this range because he's just a volume play.
40:35It's a better offense. And like I said, you'd hope with the passing attack, really finding its stride last week that the rushing attack will eventually as well.
40:42Um, but yeah, I, I haven't really loved what I've seen from Javante so far and, uh, just a little bit worried
40:48about him, but he has no competition. So volume wise, he should be okay.
40:52Volume's going to be there. RB five and expected points since 2025.
40:55He's RB 10 and expected points this year. Uh, not having Tyler Smith, I do think is a big deal.
41:00He's on injured reserve. They're left guard. One of the best in the league.
41:04And then the, the Ravens, uh, since week 10 of last year, Ravens have allowed 66 rushing yards per game to running backs.
41:10That's the second fewest. I think it's just like a combination of, you know, the trenches plus game script, uh, that type
41:16of thing where I have Javante Williams in a very similar spot.
41:19Yeah. It is one of those things where how low can you rank a guy who completely owns the backfield and they're
41:25also at home and they're still projected for 24 and a half, but you know, it might be kind of negative game
41:31script from them because they are a three and a half point underdogs here.
41:35All right. Hyper speed a little bit more, uh, Deandre Swift, Boone, I'm going to put them in, in B tier here
41:41and we're going to keep it moving because Deandre Swift is freaking awesome.
41:44It's a revenge game here for Deandre Swift against the Philadelphia Eagles.
41:47He is scoring as one of the best backs in fancy football as the running back five.
41:52That would be tough to continue against Philly. Uh, and especially in this game script, but I do wonder if, you know,
41:58maybe Ben Johnson understands that our pathway to winning is to go and flow through this rushing attack as much as possible.
42:04Yeah, they have to, we hit on the, the case Keenum thing earlier that if he's out there, we're basically bringing down
42:10everybody in this offense from a fantasy perspective, but they're going to have to lean on the running game massively in this one.
42:16And it's another situation where Swift can do it.
42:18We know he can do it. And I do, I will admit to everybody out there.
42:22There is a revenge game, little bump that I give in my projections.
42:26So he does get that little bump this week.
42:28It's tough because you're trying to offset that against the quarterback situation.
42:32But again, that's another one we have to monitor all week to see if Tyson Bajig and clear concussion protocol or what
42:37kind of state Caleb Williams hamstring is in. Regardless if it's Keenum, that's going to bring down the whole offense, but Swift
42:43can still get there to this point. He normally like rest of season rankings.
42:47I have them as basically a borderline low end RB one, high end RB two.
42:51So this is much lower than where I project him for the rest of the year.
42:55I got DeAndre Swift buried in my rankings, like RB 25.
42:58There's been six games since 2025 where the bears have finished with 21 or fewer points.
43:03He's averaged 10 and 10.8 half PPR points. And then that's like the RB 23.
43:07The reality is to project for 18 and a half points against Vic Fangio and he gets every other drive.
43:12So I don't think they're going to give him the ball like that much more.
43:16It's like still a drive by drive rotation and they're going to be a negative game script here.
43:21And I just, I just don't trust a third stringer against Fangio.
43:24Boone, I assumed B tier. Do you want to move it to C tier then for DeAndre Swift instead?
43:29No, we're, we're still going with B tier here.
43:31Yep. All right. Bucky last name in the beach here.
43:34Yes. He's still in the beach here. No, he's not the last name in the beach here, but we are rolling with him in the beach here.
43:41Bucky's been great. This is one I was totally wrong on before the season.
43:45I thought Kenneth Gainwell would step into that Rashad white kind of role.
43:49I thought he would limit Bucky. He's not at all.
43:51Bucky is out there. Absolutely crushing it. 61% of the snaps, 79% of the snaps, 183 yards and a touchdown through two games.
43:57He's even getting like the two minute drill work.
44:00He's getting goal line work. There's really nothing stopping him right now.
44:03So he belongs in this spot. It's just a tough matchup against the Vikings and Brian Flores defense.
44:08So that's the only thing that has him a little bit lower than he normally would be.
44:12Yeah. I think the Vikings defense is like an absolute problem.
44:15Last four games for the Vikings, they've allowed 11.4 happy bear points to the entire room.
44:20Obviously, Bucky's going to get a lot of that.
44:22But I think that's pretty worrisome, especially how Baker's been handling pressure.
44:25So I agree with the team total being low here.
44:28Film wise on Bucky, he's got a great first step right now.
44:31Every single time he hits that second level, he's like one of the slowest running backs in the NFL to me.
44:37I haven't loved that. I will say that the first step and that's the most important part is like hitting that lateral
44:43step to get to the next level. There was a couple times last week where I was like, oh no, like that's
44:49that didn't have my attention like it had in previous years.
44:51Interesting. I wish we had talked about it more in stats for this film.
44:55I've liked what I've seen from Bucky to avoid some instant disruption or find some extra lanes.
45:00But yeah, in terms of like the real explosives and the game changing moments, he certainly hasn't had that.
45:05And he's only owned 37% of the carries for the Bucks inside the red zone so far.
45:09So that kind of needs to hike up. Boom.
45:12We only have one more spot in the B tier.
45:14I'm sorry to tell you. It's all right. We will give it to Aaron Jones.
45:18We will give it to Aaron Jones, but this is another one of those ones.
45:22I made a mention of it at the beginning that we're getting injury updates as we go.
45:27We knew last week he left the game at one point, slammed his helmet down.
45:31We thought maybe he was going to be out.
45:33He managed to finish the game. Had a great one.
45:36105 yards on 23 carries. Obviously, they're saying he's dealing with some soreness, but I was still a little bit worried of
45:42the way that Kevin O'Connell was talking about that, that he still has a chance to play this week.
45:47There's some weird wording that he said right before we started.
45:50I don't have the quote in front of me.
45:52So that was the only reason that I'm just a little bit concerned about Jones.
45:56We'll put a little asterisk next to him. But this is a spot where they need him to be the guy.
46:02They don't really have faith in Daman Claiborne. DJ Dallas is a special teamer.
46:06So yeah, as long as he's out there, he's going to be a very strong RB2 play.
46:10They have no other choice. So I'm assuming that he's going to play.
46:14If he's not, then I'll figure out who they're going to use.
46:17But it's I don't know who the hell they have.
46:20No one. They have nobody. I mean, Clayborne is a small player who is bad in pass protection and also quite poor as a receiver.
46:26And then DJ Dallas is, you know, kind of a retread one of these players.
46:30Hayden, the quote that Boone is talking about is from KOC.
46:33We'll just keep getting treatment around the clock and see if we can pick up his workload as the week goes on.
46:39There's also another one that he feels pretty good.
46:42You know, is this like not, you know, 31 year old not practicing early on?
46:46Like, that's my read. And obviously, if we're wrong, we'll just update the rankings.
46:49On Aaron Jones, though, he played 90% of the snaps heading into halftime.
46:53Then he missed a couple of snaps. But then he got right back in there.
46:57And then since 2024, without Jordan Mason, he's the RB20 and RB13 usage.
47:00The Buccaneers defense is not quite as good as it has been previously.
47:04I know it's like you got to beat Ava and that will be an issue.
47:08But their linebackers have been awful. And I do think there's going to be moments where Aaron Jones can get highlighted in the pass game.
47:15So like if he's out there, I have a very aggressive ranking on Aaron Jones.
47:19Like it's like too big to fail. You know, and hopefully he can just stay healthy for it.
47:23I know we want to move quick here, Josh, but I do want to say one more thing on it.
47:29I think Jordan Mason is potentially somebody to try to go out and buy because Aaron Jones is not going to hold up with these kind of workloads.
47:36And I say that as he's my birthday buddy, man.
47:39We're both December 2nd babies. The dude is going to turn 32 this year.
47:43We've seen him deal with so many injuries. We're seeing him sore after this one game where he gets all the work.
47:49He is not a long term starter at this point.
47:51So I don't even know if he's going to hold up for a whole month.
47:55I think Jordan Mason is somebody that people should be going out to get.
47:59Alec Lewis of the Athletic, he had the stat.
48:01The Vikings have run 53.7 run rate here since December 1st of last season.
48:05They haven't lost since. That's the second highest run rate among all NFL teams behind only the Ravens.
48:10They said they wanted to commit to the rushing attack this year.
48:13They are still doing it. And long term, I think that bodes really well for Mason.
48:17So go out and get him. Okay. Next is Dave Montgomery.
48:20This is at the Indianapolis Colts. Hey, now send this to you.
48:24There's like some numbers in Dave Montgomery's favor, even if the offensive line has, you know, failed to create space outside of even parts of week one.
48:31He still owns 85% of the red zone carries.
48:33So once they get down to the tight space, then he is most likely to score a touchdown for this team on
48:39the ground and who they face this week. The Colts are allowing 5.3 rushing yards per attempt.
48:44The second worst in the NFL. So we've kind of gotten a tale of two weeks here for DeMont and him being running back 20 here.
48:51I think for around for both of you makes it side in one direction.
48:54Yeah. The Colts are a great matchup for him.
48:57They're, they're really struggling at linebacker. I think the Texans offensive lines, like definitely calls into like the joke category in terms
49:03like the, the, the volume at the goal line back in week one, he got stuffed multiple times at the goal lines.
49:08Like that's inflating his percentage share. Like I'm not convinced that he's going to get every goal line carry, like the way they've been doing.
49:15It's like been every other drive goes to Woody Marks.
49:18Like am I convinced that Woody Marks just wouldn't stay on the football field and score a rushing touchdown at that expense?
49:24Like I think this is pretty close to the, you know, Deandre Swift, Kyle, the none guy split, except that the bears offensive lines.
49:30Awesome. And the Texans offensive line stinks. And I also think, you know, straight up Montgomery is worse than Deandre Swift.
49:36So I think he's going to be an RB two because of volumes, the RB 15 and usage, but I don't love what I see here.
49:43Yeah. Touchdowns are really the difference. And that for that reason, I think we keep them in this range, but Woody Marks
49:49is not really in my mind done enough to take the work away from Montgomery.
49:53I think this is another one where it's just going to kind of keep rolling like this unless there's an injury.
49:58Hey, and I'm going to send to you first with Jalen Warren.
50:01This is against the Cincinnati Bengals. So there's a lot of negative stats right now for this Steelers offense at every level.
50:07Pittsburgh has converted 20% of their third downs. That's 31st in the league.
50:11Uh, you know, we have seen the Steelers backfield only has one carry inside the red zone.
50:15And that one actually went to Rico Dattle. Neither one of these players practiced on Wednesday and through two games as Bengals
50:21defense has allowed a league low 78 rushing yards to running backs on 27 attempts, just 2.9 yards per care.
50:27Yeah, they shut down the Texans. And that's not that surprising to me.
50:30I think for Jalen Warren, if Rico Dattle, who's still in a boot on Wednesday and he was on a boot leaving
50:36the game with a toe injury, if he's not going to play like Jalen Warren, it's too big to fail.
50:41He played 50 of 52 snaps without Rico Dattle on the field last week.
50:45They got Travis Homer out there. Like he will get every single touch in this backfield.
50:49If Rico Dattle can't play and the offense has been terrible.
50:52Um, but like if you play every single snap, pretty much like you're going to be an RB2.
50:57Yeah. Don't love the matchup with Dexter Lawrence, but Bucky Irving, seven catches on them.
51:01Woody Marks, who we just talked about five catches on them.
51:04Like Warren will find ways he'll get the volume and yeah, he'll come through.
51:08Talk to me about Cam Scadaboo Boone with Jameis Winston as his quarterback, as he faces the Tennessee Titans.
51:13Man, my guy, Cam Scadaboo, this is a sad one.
51:16Like to see them have all four backs active last week and all four backs doing something like that's not great for Scadaboo to begin with.
51:22And then he loses his buddy Jackson Dart. And we just take this whole offense down a notch here.
51:28So not really feeling as strong about Scadaboo as I felt before the season, Josh.
51:32And yeah, like volume wise, he'll get enough. He's got a chance for touchdowns.
51:35Tennessee's an okay run defense. This is a game they should be competitive, but I'm curious how many games are going to
51:41be competitive the rest of the way. I think that it's a good spot for Scadaboo though.
51:46And I watched Najee Harris. Najee Harris left leg is about half the size of his right leg.
51:51It's true. Like we got to, we got to post that on here.
51:54Like it's, I don't think that Najee Harris is going to do that much this year.
51:58I know you got the goal line carry and it wasn't his fault, but didn't go anywhere.
52:03And then the Tyron Tracy, I think he's going to get cut.
52:06He's like a special teamer. And then Devin Singletary, they at least this last week went away from Devin Singletary when they were in catch up mode.
52:13And that was like what made me nervous in week one for Scadaboo.
52:17But if he's going to catch four passes a game, like that's, that's what we want.
52:21And he's, he's the, he's the entire heartbeat of this operation right now.
52:25So I think they're going to stick with them.
52:27Okay. Basial Tootin is your running back 23 against the New England Patriots.
52:30I'll say Basial Tootin has better film than the running back 23.
52:34Unfortunately, this past defense is quite good. Though the Jaguars are still two and a half point favorites.
52:38Hayden, we've talked a lot about him during stats versus film.
52:41I am a bit nervous about this Jaguars offensive line.
52:44And like, it kind of is a pendulum of, hey, they can look fine against certain opponents and then other ones they
52:50can get pushed and pressed in the back. And I put the Patriots in that good defense.
52:54Good. They have two awesome defensive tackles there. And they just want to like put a lot of resources.
53:00There's a difficult matchup, but Jacksonville's their seventh in projected points.
53:03So, and we at least got Basial Tootin at the goal line for this last game.
53:07So it's not only going to be Chris Rodriguez down there.
53:10So I feel good about them. A little disappointing that he's not being used much in the passing attack.
53:15I think that would be obviously the thing that could unlock him for fantasy.
53:19We haven't seen it yet. Why throw to Tootin when you can throw to Parker Washington?
53:23That's right. That's right. Fair enough. That's true. Okay.
53:25Jeremiah Love is next for you as the running back 24.
53:28We are in like real flex conversation here right now.
53:31This is at the San Francisco 49ers. One of these weeks, I really hope like the usage boon gets directly on track
53:37with what we can say from here on out.
53:39This is what Jeremiah Love is going to be.
53:42He's going to get, you know, 80% of the passing work and add another 10 carries on top of it.
53:47But we're not quite there yet. Yeah. All right.
53:49So Josh commented, I want to flip this one back to you guys and I'm going to lead the witness a little bit here.
53:56I guess I'll give it to you, Hayden, since Josh already talked a little bit about him there.
54:01But this backfill has been like painful so far, right?
54:03Like it's just been rough with Algier playing 59% and 64% of the snaps in the first two games and love being around 40.
54:10I'm with you. I'm with you, Josh. Like, I think this is the spot to buy in.
54:14We see these guys that are early picks in the real NFL draft.
54:18These running backs always end up coming through. I think he's going to get his opportunity.
54:22I just think it has to happen soon, right?
54:24Like we saw Bajon Robinson. I always kind of looked at it like the situation when Bajon was a rookie and he had Algier there, obviously.
54:31And it's not the same. They're not the same player.
54:34And I don't even see him as the same type of prospect.
54:37He's maybe a notch below. But still, at some point, when you use that high draft capital on him, you have to turn this over to the guy.
54:45Are you buying here, Hayden? Are you in on this one?
54:48Because I think, love, we're going to see that breakout.
54:50We're going to see that switch come soon. There's going to be weeks where he doesn't have the role and then all
54:56of a sudden he will have the role and we have to guess when that's going to be.
55:01And I had the same exact thoughts as you guys.
55:04I was coming into this and I was like, they just got smoked by the Seahawks.
55:08They're one on one. They're trying to win this division.
55:11And they got to play their best players to pull off the upset here.
55:14And who's their best players? It's Jeremiah Love, not Tyler Algier.
55:17So I was going to take an optimistic angle on this one.
55:21I'm glad that you guys agree with me. I might have a more optimistic angle in week four and not week three.
55:26I feel like any matchup advantage that Jeremiah Love could bring to an offense is negated by the 49ers defense.
55:32But we'll see. Yes, but I think that if they're going to be losing by 10 points, then I think he's going
55:38to have to catch a lot more passes. Like that would be a step one to this would be could we get
55:44Jeremiah Love catching four or five, six passes in a game?
55:46I think that this would be the first game where I think we can show that off.
55:51And if we're talking about by low, especially this early in the season, I think when fantasy managers see that 49ers matchup,
55:57knowing the 49ers defense has been good for so long, that might be one that adds to their fear and their concern about him.
56:03And maybe they're willing to make that trade. Okay, running back 25 is Quinchon Judkins.
56:07This is against the Carolina Panthers. This is not my show.
56:10But Hayden, I think that this might be the sneaky play of the week.
56:14Okay, he is coming off 12 carries for 21 yards and a win.
56:17But that was obviously against the Bucs defense. He's also been held below 50 yards rushing in eight of his past 12 games.
56:24But again, I want to reiterate that the Carolina rush defense is not the Bucs and it's not the Jags.
56:29They're actually allowing the highest rush yards per attempt at 6.3 right now.
56:32And yes, they have faced DeAndre Swift and Kalman Ungai and especially Bajon Robinson.
56:36But the Browns are only two and a half point dogs.
56:39And certainly it will take Deshaun Watson playing well in this contest.
56:42But I think Quinchon Judkins is talented enough. And I'm still kind of iffy on this Panthers defense that Quinchon Judkins might
56:48be like the shock performer of the week. Yeah, no Dylan Sampson.
56:51He's not going to catch a bunch of passes, but he did have five receptions this last game without Dylan Sampson in clear negative game script.
56:58So that's at least like somewhat encouraging. I saw it the same way.
57:02Like if it's not going to happen here, then it's just not going to happen for quite a while.
57:07And I thought there's enough signs of life between the rest of the skill guys and Deshaun Watson.
57:12So I think that he's a flex start, not like a bench player.
57:15This is it, Josh. We talked in the summer.
57:18I had a bold prediction about Judkins that I thought he had a chance to be a top 15 back.
57:23And I said there was the caveat. The first two games are going to be very tough matchups for him.
57:28This is it. He has to show it this week.
57:31If he doesn't show it this week, then we have to be very worried about his fantasy outlook the rest of the way.
57:37I do think there is a chance that when Deshaun drops back and, you know, the changing coverage that he sees pre
57:43and post snap, then he just throws picks to like JC Horn and Mike Jackson and Devin Lord over the middle and all that stuff.
57:50But if Deshaun Watson plays like turnover free football, then Quinchon should have a nice day.
57:54He should have a nice day. And that's not something I would have said in either of the first two games.
58:00Okay. Jadarian Price is running back 38 in consensus rankings.
58:02He is running back 26 for you. I'm assuming for a lot of consensus rankers that they just assume that he's going to be out.
58:09Boone, we just got word that Price is going to practice all week.
58:13Albeit, he's still going to be determined if he's going to play.
58:16But that's, you know, a positive in his direction versus leaving the game.
58:19Yeah. And that's how they've kind of talked about it, right?
58:22They kind of downplayed the injury and made it seem like it was going to be minor and that he'd have a chance to be out there.
58:29So another one I've mentioned along the way, these ones that we have, these little asterisks next to that we're going to have to monitor throughout the week.
58:37This is another one of those. And this could be an opportunity for him.
58:41I think a game where they are big favorites.
58:43They're going against the Washington team that is just probably floundering at the moment after losing Jaden Daniels.
58:48And what is the rest of their season going to look like?
58:51And when is he going to be back? And I know Marcus Mariota can do that like 60, 70 percent version of what Daniels does in the offense.
58:59But this is still a spot where the Seahawks should roll in this game.
59:02Let's get Price going. So the only worry I would have is that because of the injury, even if he does play,
59:08do they get those other backs even more involved and not give him a big enough workload to come through for fantasy?
59:14Didn't love that in the first half. I mean, Wilson had three goal line attempts there, and that was like before the injury there.
59:20So I still don't love the role, RB32 and usage.
59:23It is just like one of those spots where if they're winning by a lot, then you would have to think that
59:29they're going to get Jadarian Price kind of going.
59:31And I don't think that the Washington offense is going to be able to hang with Seattle.
59:36So, you know, I would still consider this like you don't have to start Jadarian Price, but I think that he's like
59:42a little bit in the mix here. All right.
59:44Let's go back and forth. One speaker for each of these.
59:47Okay. So Boone, you're up first with Tony Pollard as running back 27.
59:51Are we down in D tier or is this still C tier?
59:54We are still C tier. I have a little bit of hope for Pollard.
59:58Now, this is another one where we got an injury update today and both Pollard and Spears are sitting out.
60:03I think it's just soreness they're calling it. So probably not something that's going to keep them out of the game, but
60:09another one that we just kind of keep an eye on.
60:12We'll monitor throughout the week. But this is a spot against the Giants team.
60:16I just talked about it with the commanders, right?
60:18You lose your quarterback. What comes next for you?
60:20Does your team rally or do you fall to pieces?
60:23The Titans actually performed pretty well against the Eagles last week, I thought.
60:27And we saw their backs do okay combined for over 100 yards in that one.
60:31So this is a spot for Pollard where you're going against the Giants.
60:34You should be able to stay competitive in this one.
60:37I think he's got a shot to at least give you that like high end RB three kind of upside.
60:42If he finds the end zone, he becomes an RB two on the week.
60:46All right, Hayden. Travis A. Chan is next as running back 28.
60:49I wish I'd spoke about him more in stats versus film because the film was not kind.
60:54Like they did some pony personnel stuff with Alvin Kamara that Travis A.
60:57Chan was a decoy on almost three straight snaps and then passes were thrown in Alvin Kamara's direction.
61:02And then there were two other pitches, five yards in the backfield that one fell to the ground and another one that was bobbled.
61:08And it was by about a loss of six yards.
61:11So, yeah, he sits here against what should be an awesome matchup as, you know, the Saints favorites by three points.
61:17And yet he's running back 28. Yeah, I just think that the rotation is kind of set in stone until proven otherwise.
61:22Alvin Kamara is getting like every other touch on early downs and then CJ Donaldson is playing the passing situations.
61:28The big caveat is like that could change based off the money at any point.
61:32But I don't love them losing their left tackle Kelvin Banks out for months either.
61:36The only positive is they are still first in neutral pace.
61:39They're projected for 23 points. And Alvin Kamara has been so bad at the goal line for years.
61:44I do think when push comes to shove, he would probably be still most likely to have the goal line touchdown.
61:49That said, tush push to Tyler Shuck at the goal line this last week.
61:53All right, Boone, you get both Patriots running backs in Trevion Henderson and Ramondre Stevenson.
61:57This is against the Jacksonville Jaguars who have a heck of a run defense with just a big, long, beefy dudes up front.
62:03So we saw a flip immediately in week one because of Ramondre's fumble.
62:07And then I thought Trevion did quite well in his debut.
62:09Yeah. And they need that explosiveness that he brings this offense.
62:12When you look at the skill position players they have at the moment, they need somebody that can crack the game open with one play.
62:19He showed last week. He can absolutely do that.
62:22You mentioned, though, the matchup is why these guys are down this low and we can't even push one of them up.
62:27But I still think that even based on what happened last week and Henderson getting all that work, this is not just
62:33all of a sudden a complete change in the script.
62:36I think we're going to still see both backs used quite a bit.
62:39And week to week, that could change based on the game plan.
62:43But this is a great at least start for Henderson potentially becoming that fantasy league winner type and taking over this backfield eventually.
62:49All right. We already talked about Blake Corum. He's the first name here in the D tier.
62:53Hayden, we have not talked about any of these Broncos backs.
62:56Boone has J.K. Dobbins as running back 32. Then Jonah Coleman as running back 34.
63:00Apparently, Jonah Coleman is popped up with an ankle injury that he suffered during the game and is now missing practice because of it.
63:07RJ Harvey is progressing. J.K. Dobbins is expected to practice this week.
63:10So are we just back to this being a three-person backfield along with Tyler Bidet playing some passing down snaps when Harvey misses?
63:16I'm going to keep this simple. J.K. Dobbins had cramps.
63:19Cramps are not going to carry over to this week.
63:21And every single time J.K. Dobbins is out there and available, he runs away with every single touch, including at the goal line.
63:28And I just don't think that's going to change.
63:30I think the problem is they're facing the Rams.
63:32They're expected to lose. They're only projected for 21 and a half points.
63:36J.K. Dobbins doesn't catch passes. But I think the rest of these guys are going to be in their roles.
63:41Like if J.K. Dobbins is healthy, he is going to be the starter and get most of the carries until proven otherwise.
63:47It's like a choose your own adventure book at the moment, though.
63:50But we have no idea how these injuries are going to play out.
63:54We're going to have to follow it all week.
63:56Okay, common on guys next. I mentioned Coleman and Boone.
63:59That sends us to Bill Krosky Merritt as running back 35.
64:02You know, Rashad White played a lot in the first half.
64:05And then when Marcus Mariota came in, we saw a little bit of Bill mixed in there, too.
64:10It's just going to be not a new offense.
64:12But, you know, I actually thought the David Blau stuff looked so much better in week two with Jaden.
64:17And I was hopeful of what it was going to be.
64:20And then bing, bing, boom, injury hits. And, you know, the projections for all these guys drop.
64:25I mean, I'm normally long with my words, but this one's just no thank you.
64:29Against the Seahawks, no chance. You don't want to play either of these guys.
64:32And overall, the bet on this offense was that it was going to be better this year.
64:37Jaden Daniels would stay healthy. We'd see JCM be that explosive guy in the backfield.
64:41Now we completely have to reassess. And this is not the week to play any of them.
64:45Hey, and I wish I'd talked about Caleb Johnson more in the Waver Wire show and then in Stats vs.
64:51Film, because I believe his number of snaps is going to drastically improve here.
64:54I read through Matt LaFleur's press conference, and he said, quote, his 12-yard run in overtime, that got us going a little bit.
65:01You know, Chris Brooks is going to have his role in passing snaps.
65:04But the leap that Caleb Williams has to take to overtake Marshawn Lloyd is maybe just a small step forward.
65:09Yeah, Marshawn Lloyd's already benched after his fumble. There was 22 snaps.
65:13He played one of them. Caleb Johnson got all the carries.
65:16Chris Brooks got all the pass protection stuff. They're expected to beat the Falcons by almost a touchdown on Thursday Night Football.
65:22I think that I would rank Caleb Johnson over a lot of the backs we just mentioned, and I think that he's going to be the starter here.
65:29He's not going to play any of the pass protection stuff.
65:32But Falcons' defense right now, we already knew that they're missing the top two edge rushers.
65:36Now their top corner is out. The rest of their secondary is really weak.
65:40And then also their depth pieces across the defensive line, we don't know if they're going to play or not, but they're
65:46all on the injury report and they're missing time right now.
65:49It's one of the worst defenses in the NFL, and I think that there's going to be a close-the-clock type of game script in favor of him.
65:56Yeah, I think the only counter to that is, I think you could argue that the Packers offensive line might be the
66:02worst in the NFL at this moment, too. Yeah, it's bad on bad.
66:05Yes, bad on bad. But oftentimes, offense wins bad on bad, especially when you're, you know, coached by Matt LaFleur and company.
66:11Okay, Boone, I'm just going to throw up the rest of the names.
66:15It is Woody Marks, Rashad White, Kaylin Black, Marshawn Lloyd, Braylon Allen, and Emmitt Johnson.
66:19Is there anything you want to say about any of those players?
66:22I mean, I kind of mentioned Emmitt Johnson off the top, right?
66:25Like earlier, we talked about Kenneth Walker, that I think he could be a sneaky play this week based on that matchup
66:31with the Dolphins and perhaps that coaching staff not wanting to give Kenneth Walker just all of the work.
66:36Maybe we could get Emmitt Johnson going in that game when they're up big, which they will be.
66:41He's kind of in a similar spot with Kaylin Black.
66:44These guys are like some of the top backups, some of the top one injury away guys, and in good matchups, they could have some flex value.
66:51Josh, I'll add the biggest sleeper to me would be Emmanuel Wilson.
66:54He's the RB24 in usage. Obviously, that includes some of the fourth quarter stuff, but is he not going to get some
67:00fourth quarter stuff against the commanders in this one?
67:02We don't know about the price injury. He's also getting subbed in at the goal line.
67:07I mean, obviously, you don't want to be in this situation, but if you had three injuries, I think that Emmanuel Wilson
67:13touched down or bust, I would understand it. Yep.
67:15Love that shout out. All right. Boone is constantly updating his rankings.
67:18Hayden is doing the exact same thing. Keep in mind, on Sunday, we have our Starts It show for two and a half hours ahead of kickoff.
67:25So if you still have these flex issues and conundrums, that entire episode, along with our Friday wide receiver rankings and tiers, is here to answer those questions.
67:33All right, guys. That does it. Thank you all for watching.
67:36Thanks to Mosho and Weaves behind the scenes and all of you for hitting thumbs up, liking, and subscribing.
67:41Talk to you guys next time. See ya.
