0:28Welcome back to The Mina Kimes Show featuring Lenny, Power Hour Edition.
0:32We're doing a little bit of a twist today on the concept.
0:36The concept remains the same, but I thought, and I've done this before, to mix things up so it doesn't feel like
0:44I'm always introducing the same teams, doing things in the same order, yada, yada, yada.
0:49Instead of me being the host and picking the choices, I would give the opportunity to my frequent co-host, my friend, the
0:56host of The Dominique Foxworth Show featuring Dominique Foxworth.
0:59I should say Charlie Carvitz. Dominique Foxworth! Hey! How do you feel about doing this?
1:04How do you feel about playing the Mina Kimes role this week?
1:08The funny thing is you make it seem like you're...
1:12I feel like this is the easy job. The job that you're giving me is the easy job.
1:18I mean, I get that you are... You have less responsibility in that job.
1:23People can't yell at you, even though they really should because you're the one who's...
1:28Yeah, that's what I'm saying. That's the perfect thing is because it's like, the choices I give you are actually me telling you what I think.
1:37But you're the one that's making the choice, so ultimately, people are going to be mad at you.
1:43I just made a list, and then if the list comes out all messed up, I'm like, eh, Mina did it.
1:50Well, it's funny because I made my initial list to do this.
1:54I've changed my thoughts a little bit. Doing the division previews, and I've done a few now, starts to kind of change
2:02some of the way I think about certain teams.
2:05So, we'll see. By the way, next week, we'll be back again on Monday.
2:09Bill Simmons, friend of the pod, is going to be doing his rankings.
2:14He's joining me for that. So, I will go back to hosting, but it's Dominique this week.
2:20Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yelling him. You heard him, if you don't like this.
2:24All right, Dominique, I'm ready. Give me the choices for one.
2:28I will be keeping track of my whiteboard for the YouTube audience.
2:32No problem. All right. So, like, I would like to throw some curveballs in at some point because it'll be fun, but
2:39I couldn't quite bring myself to throwing a curveball at the top.
2:43Like, there are two teams that I think are pretty obvious.
2:47It's the Rams and the Seahawks that you're going to have to make a choice about.
2:53I'm going to avoid making the joke that everyone makes about you being a Seahawks fan because I know you are an
3:00unbiased observer when it comes to power hour. Yeah, I've been thinking about this choice, which I've given everyone through the lens
3:08of, okay, what is the knit you pick with the Rams, right?
3:12Because the Rams, to me, seem very clearly to be the best team in the NFL because of the additions they made during the offseason.
3:20If the Rams didn't – so I'll just start here.
3:24If the Rams didn't trade for Miles Garrett, I would pick the Seahawks.
3:28I would. But, I mean, it's just very – you know, I had the Seahawks' defense above the Rams' defense, Dominique, and it could shake out that way.
3:38And I think coaching is a massive factor there.
3:41But it is really easy to imagine a world as well in which everything goes according to plan for Los Angeles and
3:48the defense is the best defense in the NFL and the offense is the best offense in the NFL.
3:55So the – what do I call it? The exhaust port and the death start is the offensive line on the Rams,
4:02but that remains speculative at this point. So I will pick the Rams for my number one team in football.
4:09Yeah, that makes sense. I think that the – you could make the argument that the Rams were better last year or
4:16they could have – I know that the Seahawks won a Super Bowl.
4:21So, like, the Miles Garrett addition, I think sometimes when you are projecting teams and you use the things that they've added
4:28as a reason to say that they're better, sometimes it's hard because you can't predict the way that the projections are added.
4:36But this defense was good last year. I know, yeah.
4:39And they improved with corners that you know you can trust in Miles Garrett.
4:44And maybe Aaron Donald. We're doing that on PGI today.
4:47And I was like, let me look up Aaron Donald's numbers in 2023 when we retired.
4:53Do you know what he raked in pass rush when?
4:56When he retired? Four. First. Anyways. All right. What's the next choice?
5:00All right. Moving on. Bills. I'll put the bills next.
5:04Bills. Okay. No. Can I take it back? I take it back.
5:08Rescind it. Rescind it. Broncos. Okay. Broncos have been very high on my list.
5:13Weirdly not. That high. And like FPI and some of the other metrics.
5:17I'm doing the AFC West this week, by the way.
5:21So I'll get to get into the Broncos. I think the Broncos are stacked.
5:25I actually also have them on top of the AFC.
5:29Like you above the bills. Because the questions I have about the bills defense, which we'll get to.
5:35But I also think the Seahawks. I actually think.
5:38Could be better than they were last season. I know that they won the Super Bowl.
5:43But I think that this. I'm really optimistic about the offense.
5:47And some of the choices that they've made. Defensively, a few losses on that side of the ball.
5:53But Mike McDonald defenses have not shown any sign.
5:56They just get better. Right? So I think Seattle is stacked enough for me to feel comfortable about them.
6:03I'm a bit more comfortable with the quarterback as well.
6:06Than Denver. Even though I do love some of the things that Denver did.
6:11So Seahawks for me at two. Super Bowl champs.
6:14Complete coaching. I guess the offensive coordinator is an unknown.
6:17But I still feel good about them. Yeah. I like it.
6:21I mean, I thought I was going to get you to throw a curveball there.
6:26But I guess I should have known. Because I mean.
6:30Would you have picked the Broncos? I probably wouldn't have for fear of having to argue with people about.
6:36The Super Bowl champs not being one or two.
6:39But I think there's a real argument. I guess the question comes down to the difference in those quarterbacks.
6:46The quality and the defenses, I think, are good.
6:49The additions that were made for the Broncos from Waddle feels more impactful.
6:53Although like Shahid. You could argue for the Seahawks that they are.
6:57Once they added Shahid. Having a full offseason with Shahid.
7:01I think it'll make a big impact. Losing Kenneth Walker.
7:04I think it's probably less of a loss than most people think.
7:08But yeah. I mean, I think it's pretty close.
7:11I think it's probably right to defer to the defending Super Bowl champs.
7:16All right. So are you going to go Bills, Broncos?
7:19Yeah. I'm going Bills next. I had an old list.
7:22That's what I was going off before. That's where the mistake was from.
7:27Now scroll down to my more modern list. Yeah.
7:30This is tricky. You know, I positioned it to Ryan as quarterback versus team.
7:35Because the Bills have the better quarterback. The Broncos have the better team.
7:39I think that the Bills offense is going to be better than the Broncos offense.
7:44Even though I love the addition of Jalen Waddell.
7:47But the Broncos defense, I view as significantly better than the Bills defense.
7:52So my feeling when I compare these teams is if the Broncos have a top 13 to 14 offense, this is a better team.
8:00And I think the Waddell addition puts them in that territory.
8:04I'm so high on the Jalen Waddell trade. I think he was like exactly the player that they needed in that offense.
8:11Terms of attacking the, I'm going to talk about this in depth this week, but the middle of the field, intermediate, zone
8:19defense, getting yards after the catch, all the things that have been missing.
8:23So I'll go Denver here, who of course beat Buffalo to advance the playoffs.
8:28Can I ask you a question about the first-time head coach?
8:32Is there any discount rate for a first-time head coach?
8:35Because I think that weighs into it also. It's like that, I think bringing Oliver back healthy, hopefully for that defense will help.
8:43That's part of the issue. But there has to be some learning curve for a first-time young head coach.
8:49Yeah, it definitely factors in, even though I think it's a little bit muted here because they went internal.
8:56And I also really like the defensive coordinator hire.
8:59I think it's really exciting and fun. I think if he had not.
9:03From the Broncos, right? Didn't they get? Yeah, right.
9:06So it's the Jim Leonard revenge. No, I mean, it's not a revenge thing.
9:11Yeah, there'll be some teams, I think, where that's reflected.
9:15And somewhere I think it could actually be a positive change.
9:18I'll get to one of those. All right, let's go Texans.
9:22Ooh. Yeah, now we're getting spicy. Now we're getting spicy.
9:25Go ahead and disrespect my defense if you want to.
9:29So we're Texans versus Bills. This is the opener, right?
9:32Texans versus Bills, which is going to be awesome.
9:35A very, very good offense against a very, very good defense.
9:39A questionable offense against a questionable defense is how I view this game.
9:43So this is tough, right? Offense is usually more sustainable year to year than great defense.
9:49But the Texans defense, I rank number one on my rankings.
9:53I think in terms of like who's going to...
9:56I think I'm going to go Buffalo here. Even though I did have the Texans defense as the number one because I
10:03am still skeptical of the Texans run game and their offensive line.
10:07I think I need to see it. Even though I think it will be better.
10:12I have no questions about the Bills offense. Bills defense also in this particular...
10:17They're not playing each other, I realize. But I still have questions about the Bills run defense.
10:23You know? But I think it won't matter in a lot of games because of their ability to play with a lead.
10:30What would it take for you to put the Texans above the Bills?
10:35Like what in your mind would have to work out?
10:38I guess it's the run game. It's the... Yeah, if the Texans...
10:42The Texans run game. If you could tell me that the Texans have an above, let's say, 17th or 18th run game,
10:50then I would be totally comfortable putting them in the Super Bowl.
10:54Because in that world, I feel like CJ Stroud is not forcing the ball.
10:59He's able to do all of the things. Like him...
11:02That play action game, attacking the middle of the field.
11:06He's so good on those in-breakers. I think all of that will flow really well from just an average run game.
11:13And if he's not in like third and long as much as he's been the last couple of years.
11:19But I need to see it. So I'm going to go Bills.
11:23All right. Let's go with the Travis Hunter-led Jaguars.
11:26That's high. Yeah, I know. Another one. Another one for you.
11:30I like him. Yeah. I like him. I thought I liked him.
11:34Second year with Lawrence. And yeah, I think the offense, obviously, it came together towards the end of the season.
11:41Or not towards the end of the season. Midway through the season.
11:45Yeah, I like this team. I'm high expectations on the talent on the defense.
11:50And it was only partially joking by saying that they were Travis Hunter-led.
11:54But I do think Travis Hunter focused on one position can really improve this defense.
11:59Well, I'm glad you brought this up because I actually have been struggling a little bit with this divisional ranking, right?
12:07Because I think everyone's just going Texans. Right. But the Jags had a top five offense in the second half of last
12:14year and a top 10 defense over the course of the entire season.
12:18They did lose Lloyd. They did lose Lloyd. But gained Travis Hunter, right?
12:23On defense. Offensively, I think it's just kind of like, do you believe in Trevor's ability to do it over the course of an entire season?
12:32My one concern with Jacksonville is the offensive line, but I also have that concern about Houston.
12:37I think I'm higher on the Jags offense, but I am significantly, the Texans defense is so dominant that I'm going to go Houston here.
12:46However, it is, I think, close. I think Jags have a case for quietly being one of the more balanced teams in the league.
12:54Like, you know, some of these teams, like I'm like, the Bills will have a top three offense and then like maybe a top 18 defense.
13:03Like the Broncos, well, you know, the anyways point is the Jags are one of the very few teams where I'm like,
13:11I could very easily see this team finishing top 10 in both.
13:15But the Texans defense is just going to put them over the top here.
13:19Yeah. I mean, I think that's why I, that's how I convinced myself to move the Jags up as high as I did.
13:27So, but they're, they're still up here. They aren't, they aren't cemented yet.
13:32You might keep pushing them down. I think you'll have a tough one right now with the Eagles.
13:38Eagles versus Jags. Eagles defense, my top defenses pod.
13:41I think I had fourth or fifth. I forget.
13:44They were top five. Eagles offense did not make the top 10.
13:48The Eagles offense is a big question mark, right?
13:51Like we don't, we don't know. This is tough.
13:54Yeah. I mean, I think the question is how, how do you think Jalen Hurts is going to perform in this new
14:02offense is the question because the talent on the Eagles offense is good enough.
14:06Like I think the guys that they brought in are more than adequate.
14:11Like I really like Eli Stowers to take over and attack the middle field.
14:16If Jalen wants to throw there. I think the offensive line is not perfect, of course, but they still have talent there.
14:23And I really think this is going to be a defensive led team.
14:28I think this defense is going to be great.
14:31And they, they aren't going to, they'll be in all these games.
14:35Right. And that's the question is, are they going to blow people out because Jalen Hurts plays well?
14:41I think that's kind of a remaining question. It's a weird spot.
14:45I think the rest of the team, if you subbed out our feelings about the quarterback position, I think we would have
14:52very little question about how good this team would be.
14:56The, and specifically the quarterback in this new offense is very like, let's see it.
15:01I don't think anyone is saying it's going to be a failure.
15:05I think we all just have some like hesitation because we just haven't seen it.
15:10And I also think that they put a lot of pressure, pressure is the wrong word, but they made it pretty clear that they're kind of fed up.
15:20Well, everything they've done, you talked about this skill players.
15:23They added not just the play caller they hired, but all of the players they added make sense in the new offense.
15:31Right. Right. So it's like, it is putting pressure on the quarterback to like, kind of go along with the, the, the
15:38article, like was, I guess in April before the draft that came out was like, everybody was talking from inside the building.
15:46Like he going to be on the center. He going to throw over the middle.
15:51Like it, to me, it felt like, yeah. Yeah.
15:54Uh, okay. So I I've made my decision. I have all, but with these two teams, the single unit that I feel
16:01the best about is the Eagles defense. However, I feel the floor is higher for the Jags because of, I think what
16:09I, the confidence I feel in both sides of the ball.
16:12Also the continuity. I really liked the fact that they kept Anthony Caponile calling the defense.
16:18Obviously Liam Cohen calls the offense and I think he is the real deal.
16:23So I'm going to go Jags. It's high. I know, but I'm, I'm, I'm high on the Jags.
16:29I'm glad you put them up. So you could blame me if it's too high, but we'll say next up, I'll go with the Patriots.
16:37Okay. AJ Brown bowl. Yeah. Patriots versus Eagles matching up.
16:41I think that the Patriots are a better team.
16:44Wow. Wow. And reminder folks, this is not a wins projection.
16:48Yeah. I think the primary criticism of the Patriots is just that they're facing a harder schedule.
16:53I think, and I've said, I said this last week, we did the AFC East for two weeks ago.
17:00We could, it's entirely possible that the Patriots finished with a work worse record this year and maybe even a worse final
17:07result, but are a better team than what they were last year.
17:11I think this offense, which was by the way, like the number two passing attack in football and DVOA, I think they're going to be more balanced.
17:21I think they're going to be better overall. A little bit worried about the lack of pass rushers, but I still think this is a very good defense.
17:30So I'll take, I'll take new England here. Yeah.
17:33I'm yeah. I think I'm a little bit surprised.
17:36It's really. Yeah. Doesn't it feel like everyone's kind of low on the Patriots just because it's not just because they got exposed.
17:44They stink. And it's like, but they weren't supposed to be there.
17:48They're ahead of schedule. And then they got better this off season.
17:52Do you think they got better? I do think they got, I mean, the Patriots off season is hard to, to determine
18:00the impact on their team going forward in a season.
18:03But I think the Patriots probably from a talent standpoint got a little bit better for sure.
18:09But we'll, I mean, we'll see, see how Drake may perform.
18:13See if AJ Brown is still at the level that we expect if his decline was less about his own physical efforts
18:20and more about the offense, which I think most people would think that's true.
18:25So, all right. I'll say chargers up next. Chargers.
18:28Chargers. I'm gonna take the Eagles here. You surprised me again.
18:32You're not moved at all by the idea that Herbert in this new offense with a explosive running attack.
18:38I know the defense should take a slight step back.
18:42That's my feel here. The offense could definitely be a top 10 offense.
18:46And I regretted after doing my top 10 offenses pod, not putting them in there.
18:51Nate did. And I, after more, I thought about, I was like, yeah, I should have had them as a top 10 offense.
18:59However, again, I'm doing this, um, the AFC West this week.
19:03And looking at that defense, I felt kind of overwhelmed.
19:06Like there's good players, but I think it's very obvious.
19:10They were very well coached and like, they're going to Derwin James, obviously a star.
19:15Yeah. There's some, you know, I, I, I like a lot of the players, but I don't, I would not be surprised if they're a little bit worse.
19:24Um, so again, of the four units Eagles offense, Eagles defense is the one I feel the most confidence in.
19:31And I just think it nets out to a better result.
19:35All right. Um, charges versus Cowboys. Hmm. I'll go Charlie.
19:38Oh, you keep sounding surprised by how are you surprised that I didn't have the charges and now you're surprised that I picked the charges.
19:47Yeah. And I, I get what you're saying. Why it doesn't make sense, but I am still surprised.
19:53Uh, because when, after I listened to, and I, it's probably, this is probably it.
19:58It's you bump a team down. So you kind of take some shots at them.
20:03Yeah. And then I'm going to take him. Yeah.
20:06That's probably what's happening in my mind. But yeah, I also like, I'm, I really liked the Cowboys.
20:12I think, um, it feels like everyone is starting to come around and not come around, but we all have a consensus that this offense is really good.
20:22And when you start to look at the talent that they put on the defense, it's, I think the reason why people
20:29should be high on the Cowboys is their defense was awful.
20:33And it's hard to imagine that this talent will allow their defense to again, be awful.
20:38And I anticipate that, that their offense is going to be great.
20:43Yeah. I don't think the charges, the Cowboys defense is going to be awful, but like, we're asking a lot of Caleb downs, man.
20:51Like I, I, I'm very high on him and his fit.
20:54And I know they made other additions, but there's still holes.
20:58Yeah. I think the linebacker edge is okay, but like, it's not a group of world beaters in my estimate.
21:05Maybe we'll see what Malachi Lawrence brings. I'm second corner.
21:08I don't know. I, I, well, I, I know the added Kobe Durant is a good player, but yeah, they're, I mean, they're not without holes.
21:17I think the expectation is, can they get to okay?
21:21Yeah. Yeah. And so that's what I'm thinking. I'm not, they're not going to be world beaters.
21:26They're not going to be 10 and O. Yeah.
21:30But, um, or 10 and O, they're not going to be 17 and O, but, uh, I guess the expectation is that they would be better, but.
21:39And Schottenheimer has really proven himself to be like a great, like a great, like a good head coach.
21:45Like really made a lot of us look silly for, so, uh, I, I do like the Cowboys.
21:51I just think the chargers are more balanced and I do think the offense is going to be awesome.
21:58They're going to be healthy at tackle, which will help.
22:01All right. So Dallas Cowboys versus the, I mean, that we healthier they were last year.
22:07It's impossible not to be Dallas Cowboys against the Baltimore Ravens.
22:10Okay. Here it's the Ravens. Um, I'm gonna put the Ravens here.
22:14So this was the team that I alluded to when I said, I actually think, um, some head coach, new head coaches, I'm going to reward them.
22:24Uh, and listeners to this pod. No, I really liked the Jesse Minter hire.
22:28I'm very optimistic about the defense. I just saw a headline today from Eric DaCosta, the Ravens GM saying Matt of week
22:36is on track, uh, which is a game changing addition to that defense.
22:40Yeah. I mean, like, you know, it was an unbelievably injured defense last season.
22:45I think the question actually I've, uh, I'm, I'm bumping them for Minter because I just think that defense is going to be way better.
22:54I, I do think it's reasonable and fair to have some skepticism about Declan Doyle, their new offensive coordinator and some of the losses on the offensive line.
23:03And, and just generally like tight end fullback. There's a lot of change on this offense, but I think it's more likely
23:11than not that the version of Lamar Jackson we saw last year was not who we're going to see this season where
23:18he goes from ranking fourth in pressure to Zachary to 31st.
23:22I don't think that's going to happen again. So if the Ravens offense, um, you know, with Lamar Jackson, it's usually a top 10 offense.
23:30I think this defense has top 10 potential too.
23:33So I just like the team as a whole.
23:37Yeah, no, I think that's right. I, the, your point about the defense is huge.
23:42I think that the Ravens getting back to the closer to Mike McDaniel kind of, uh, defense, I think will help them.
23:49Yeah, certainly help them. All right. What about if I match up with the bears and the Cowboys?
23:55Okay. There's a different Cowboys matchup. I want, I want, I want the Cowboys against their Wario at some point.
24:02All right. Well, I'm not going to get them because I'm gonna take the Cowboys here.
24:08I, you know who I'm thinking of when I say the Cowboys.
24:12I don't, uh, who's the Cowboys evil twin in the AFC.
24:15So somebody with a good defense and a bad offense.
24:19Yeah. Or the, no, no, the, the same. Oh, okay.
24:22Oh, Wario would be the same. I don't know what Wario or Mario is.
24:27I don't know. He with a great offense and a bad defense.
24:31I don't know. Oh, Bengals. Yeah. Bengals. Yeah. That was the Bengals.
24:35Right. Like they're literally similar quarterbacks who play the same way.
24:39Two great receivers. Yeah. And a defense that just needs to be average.
24:43I'm going to take the Cowboys over the bears.
24:46Um, I am dreading picking the NFC North. I am putting it off until the end because of the Vikings quarterback battle.
24:54But like, I just changed my mind every day.
24:57Uh, so we believe that, hold on timeout. Vikings quarterback battle.
25:01Well, I mean, I like, no, but I have to let it play out to do, you know, give my, I mean, we'll see.
25:09Uh, anyways, point is. I'll, I'll, I'll talk to you to get to Chicago in a second.
25:15I think Dallas top five offense, anything less than that would be a disappointment.
25:19So I feel comfortable. I feel comfortable. The bears are the flashier team and not the flashier team, but like the offense is so flashy and explosive.
25:29They define some sustained success. A couple losses on the offensive line.
25:33Defense is the question there. We'll get to that.
25:36So I'll go, I'll go Dallas. What do you think?
25:39Who has a better defense? Cowboys defense or the bears defense?
25:43I mean, the bears defense for sure. I know it's a, it's very much, um, turnover dependent last year, but yeah, they did get the turnoff.
25:52And they have a very good secondary, which they added to.
25:56So, all right. Um, all right. Packers. All right.
25:59I'm forcing you into the division that you don't want to talk about.
26:03Yeah. I'll be, um, okay. Just gut feel here.
26:06I'll go bears. Oh, um, however, Micah asked me again in December.
26:10Yeah. I know. Yeah. I think, which I know sounds like a cop out, but we're, we're doing power rankings to start season here.
26:18How do you, um, I don't know. Maybe you haven't done a lot of like film on the bears just yet, but
26:26I, I have, I did a show with Tice a couple of days ago on his show on football 301.
26:33And I wanted to talk about the bear. So I watched a lot of Caleb.
26:38Um, and I was surprised how I felt afterwards is like, I think there was Kayla, a lot of Caleb improvement, but
26:45I didn't feel like he was as good as I remembered.
26:49If that makes sense. I mean, the highs are so high.
26:53Uh, but I, I'll talk about this more when we get to, I actually, I think some Paris fans got mad at
27:00me because I ESPN did it's like top 10 quarterbacks.
27:04And I was actually quite surprised to see Caleb over Jordan love.
27:08Yeah. It's absurd to me. I just don't agree with, um, I think the highs are there.
27:14The trajectory is there. It's only been two years.
27:17I get that, but the down to down accuracy has to improve.
27:21There's just some weird misses on tape. And that's the thing that doesn't make sense is like, you would assume that the
27:28explosive play, those like mind blowing plays would also come with the mind blowing Lee, like attempts at those failing.
27:35That's not the problem that you see. But here's the thing about the bears.
27:40I think that they have, and this is, you know, I have them over.
27:45LeFleur is great. He's awesome. I downgraded him because he kind of pissed me off a little bit last year with some of the run the ball stuff.
27:54But the point is he's very good. Yeah. I think Ben Johnson has the potential to be one of like a Kyle
28:02Shanahan where it's like, you know, I just think he's just that guy.
28:06So anyways, bears Packers are still available. Not for long.
28:09Packers versus lions. Jeez. Yeah. I, I, I could just tell you what's happening right now.
28:15It wasn't intentional, but exactly what you think is happening is happening.
28:19There's a team. There's one team I'm shocked. You haven't brought up.
28:23All right. It's not the Bengals in the NFC.
28:26Oh, yeah. Yeah. I know what you're talking about.
28:2949ers. Yeah. All right. Well, we'll, we'll get to that.
28:33We'll get to that. I'm taking the Packers over lions.
28:36Dude. The, I, the lions defense. Holy mackerel. They've got some problems there.
28:40So give me a good offense. I had them top 10 offense, even with some questions on the offensive line and play caller.
28:48The skill talent is just too undeniable. I'm a Jared golf believer, but the injuries on that lions defense, some of the
28:56holes on the backend, some of the questions about when players are going to return.
29:01I just can't do it with them. All right.
29:04So next up Vikings. Vikings over Niners and Bengals.
29:07Yep. Take the lions here. Here's the thing about the Vikings.
29:11Um, okay. So I had them higher on the Vikings than you are, obviously.
29:15Well, I had, okay. So I had the defense like six or seventh on my list.
29:21Yeah. And, and then I realized I was giving Brian Flores the Kyle Shannon of defense treatment because, oh my God, have
29:28you looked at that depth chart lately? Yeah. I, I, I must be doing the same thing.
29:34I think you're right. It's when I think about that defense, I think about Ben Ginkle's hair and Brian Flores.
29:41That's it. They got, they, they, they need, we're not even getting to the, cause the case of the lions is that
29:49they only need average offense and the defense is so good.
29:52And they were eight, nine or whatever with, with the nine meter, I forget point is that's an assumption.
29:59They need some rookies on defense. Cause they had to clear cat, you know, like Gronard's gone.
30:05So, and I don't even know. I mean, we'll see what we get from Kyler.
30:10I think it's, he's definitely capable of giving them average quarterback play though.
30:14So, but I'm going to take the lions here because, uh, amongst those four, those teams, the lions offense, I feel safe.
30:22Yeah. I mean, I, from what I understand too, Harrison Smith's a big part of the communication on that defense and.
30:29Yeah. Um, is he chilling? What's that? Is he chilling or is he going to come back?
30:34What's the, uh, yeah, I, I don't know. You said chilling.
30:38Watching love Island. Oh yeah. I thought you said, is he like, I kept thinking you were saying, is he Patrick Chung?
30:46Like I heard. Oh no, no. No. I was just like, he's just like, he hasn't retired, but he's not on team.
30:53Maybe you just want to go camp. All right.
30:56All right. Now we got bangles. Okay. I'm really disrespecting the 49ers.
31:00You really are. Yeah. I'm going to take the bangles over the Vikings.
31:05Um, no need to talk about the bangles offense.
31:08The bangles defense. It's funny. I asked you about cowboys defense versus the bears defense.
31:13And we both agreed on bears. Cowboys defense versus bangles.
31:16Defense is a really fun question. Um, because obviously the bangles did make a lot of improvements.
31:22They added a lot of, they added star Dexter Lawrence.
31:26They added some capable vets, mafe and cook. I still worry about that run defense, but I think the offense should be
31:33good enough to where it doesn't matter too much.
31:36It will matter. It will be, it will matter though.
31:40I tell you right now, it will matter. Uh, but I do like them more than the Vikings.
31:46Um, and I'm assuming that in this Vikings 49ers matchup, you're going to take the 49ers.
31:51I am. Yeah. Disrespected the Niners. Is this, so let me ask, this is more interesting from your standpoint than mine.
31:58Is it just a reason you're like, I don't, I'm not going to do this.
32:03I'm not going to fall into this. I mean, honestly, it's probably, I didn't expect them to, to be as good as they were last year.
32:12Uh, as the, and I, I do think that it's hard to find where the, the young answers are going to come from.
32:20Like you keep thinking it's going to catch up to them.
32:24Um, and they already got to the point where McCaffrey's running attack was less impactful.
32:29Like I just have a hard time imagining this to, and then their answers is Mike Evans.
32:35They're going to go get someone who's even a little bit older.
32:39Uh, the same issues on the defense is like, um, yeah.
32:43Warner is coming off an injury. And of course he's the key to all that stuff on defense.
32:49And they did play better on defense last year than anticipated.
32:52They overachieved a bunch last year to me, honestly.
32:55And maybe I should mean that I should anticipate them doing it again, but I don't.
33:01Yeah. Yeah. I know somebody was putting up the Niners drafts.
33:05I saw on social media and just how they've been.
33:08Yeah. And how much Janahan compensates for it. Um, it feels a little bit like, um, LeBron joining, like Mike Evans feels
33:16a little bit like LeBron joining the warriors where it's like, cool.
33:20We get to see like, you know, like, like Mike Evans and George Kittle on the same field as like LeBron and
33:27Steph Curry or just, you know, or Christian McCaffrey, but also LeBron joining the warriors, they're still not as good as, you know, basketball take.
33:36All right. I'm still going to take the Niners over the Vikings.
33:40Yeah. All right. Let's take a quick break. Come back and do the second half.
33:45Niners fans. It's Foxworth at 24. If you want to yell at someone.

34:54Every assist. Every stop. Every logo three. From beyond the logo.
34:57Every did you see that moment. You bet. What records are going to be broken this season?
35:03All of it right here. Lock in. It's the WNBA on ESPN.
35:07All season long. All right, we're back. Dominique, the Vikings are still available.
35:12Who's your other choice for me? All right. Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
35:16Okay. This is good. This is tough. I'm going to go Bucs here.
35:21Hmm. I like the Bucs defense. Yeah. I think that they have the potential to be good.
35:26I know the secondary is kind of young and had their ups and downs last season.
35:32Parrish, Morrison had the injuries and whatnot. But I think that the addition of Reuben Bain Jr.
35:38and like sneakily Alex Anzalone. Yeah. It's like one of those, like you're like, oh, this is really smart.
35:44And then I think the offensive line is really good.
35:47And if they're healthy, that's like something you can hang your hat on.
35:52Yeah. I'm really excited about Reuben Bain. Like, I think it's going to be a fun watch.
35:58No matter. I mean, he was a fun watch in college.
36:01So that should be interesting. All right. Next up, we got the Kansas City Chiefs.
36:07Man. How the mighty have fallen. Yeah. But you don't have a problem with it, with me bringing up this late.
36:14Yeah. Right. This is about where they've been, I think for me, maybe a little bit higher.
36:20Chiefs versus Vikings. I actually think I gave that choice, exact choice to Brandon Perna.
36:25And this is where he was crying. He came on and he was like, I'm going to do a bit where I'm
36:32going to just keep knocking on the Chiefs. And then I put the Vikings.
36:37He's like, all right, I can't do it anymore.
36:40Chiefs are Vikings. Um. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Okay. So I've been thinking about the Chiefs because I'm doing that AFC West.
36:47And I kind of like all the additions on defense.
36:51They're just young. Lane Woods, R. Mason Thomas. It's like a real injection of youth.
36:56I think there could be some growing pains. But I think that it's more likely than not that it's an above average
37:03defense by the end of the season. And the offense.
37:07It's so funny. What did they finish in DVOA even without the, you know, all the criticism last year?
37:13All right. I'm taking the Chiefs. Wow. So you're expecting Mahomes back early, huh?
37:18Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um. I don't know. I guess I, I'm.
37:22We'll see. Yeah. We'll see. All right. Next up.
37:25Mando's. My hometown team. Washington Commanders returning the best young quarterback in football from a couple years ago whose injuries slowed him down.
37:32Jaden Daniels. Uh. They're bringing in that Flores style defense, which I'm excited to be able to watch that on local TV.
37:40That should be fun. And I think the offense is, the offense is, um, I don't know.
37:46I guess the question hanging over this team is like, how good is Jaden Daniels and how healthy is he going to be?
37:54Right. Right. It's me. So the Eagles and the commanders are both making those scheme change, right?
37:59On offense, similar scheme change. Which one do you think it's going to work out better for?
38:05That's a good question, actually. Right? Right. Yeah. I mean, I think Washington has the better quarterback.
38:11Um, I think the Eagles have the better collection of skill players.
38:15Yeah. Yeah. So it's hard. Yeah. Everything else. Yeah.
38:18Right. Um. But to both two unproven play callers too.
38:21Yeah. I think I, I'm going to go with, uh, I mean, if Jane Daniels is healthy, I have to say that it's Washington.
38:30Right. Yeah. I'm also optimistic about the Washington front seven.
38:33I really found myself after doing that. Yeah. They really improved.
38:37I'm sorry. They really improved. That said, I'll take the Vikings here.
38:41The fall stops. Wow. Wow. I think the Vikings are, I keep doing this.
38:46I'm sorry. It's so genuine too. You asked me the Vikings at like 15 and I just picked them at 19.
38:53Uh, I, I, I, I do think that. I'm not going to be surprised next time.
38:58I promise. Whatever you say next time, no surprise.
39:01Uh, Vikings. I feel better about the coaching staff feel better about, you know, the, the defense.
39:07I think the offense just needs to be average.
39:10All right. Commanders and Panthers. Here. I will take the commanders.
39:14It's a good choice by you. Um, Panthers are a tricky one for me because I think this defense could make a
39:21big leap, but I just do not know how to feel about this offense at all.
39:27So many questions. No questions around Tet. I love Tet.
39:30I didn't like him coming out and now I love him.
39:34I was dead wrong about that. I wasn't. I know about football.
39:38I know everything. I'm so smart. All right. Um, who's next?
39:42Uh, Colts. Colts versus Panthers. Okay. The team said fired Frank Reich bowl.
39:46Uh, I don't know how to feel about the Panthers offense.
39:50I sure as hell don't know what to think of the Colts, man.
39:54I'll take the Panthers here. I really, yeah. Okay.
39:57So I'll use this to talk about the Panthers.
40:01I think that I was so tempted to put the Panthers defense in my top 10 as like a spicy making the leap pick.
40:09Because like on paper, it's like the defense is extremely improved.
40:12They have actual stars, multiple positions, very few holes.
40:16I think a really good defensive coordinator in Evero, Averro.
40:19So I feel good about the Panthers making the leap.
40:22I don't know what to make about the Panthers offense, but I also don't know what to make about Indianapolis.
40:29Yeah. I mean, Indianapolis ton of talent and the skill position plays on offense, but the quarterback's a big question mark.
40:36And I guess it's, it's a smaller part in the word play, but a smaller question mark at quarterback for the Panthers.
40:44Hey. I didn't mean it, but yeah, there's still a question mark there.
40:48All right. Your beloved Pittsburgh Steelers are up next.
40:51Steelers versus Colts. The Achilles bros. Achilles bros. Okay.
40:54I think of the four units, the Steelers defense is probably the one I feel the best about.
41:01I think the additions that the Steelers made, Michael Pittman Jr., Bernard, change on the offensive line will help accommodate this version of Aaron Rodgers.
41:09So I'll take the Steelers here. I like that.
41:12I mean, I think the expectation of Steelers defense is going to be better than they were last year.
41:19I mean, I guess they're still kind of old, but yeah, that, that would be the driving force of them to me, at least being, being slightly better.
41:28All right. Atlanta Falcons, ATL, showdy. Falcons versus Colts.
41:31I will take the Colts here. Falcons have that new coach bump maybe, or is it not a bump?
41:38I do think it's a bump. I mean, I, I, I like really liked that tire.
41:43Yeah. I, the Falcons defense is a funny one because like, who did I talk about this with?
41:49I, yeah, last week on with Brandon, there's games where they looked like a top five defense.
41:55And then there were games where they looked like a below average unit to me.
42:00So I do like the fact that they kept their coordinator.
42:04You got to lie young players. Watts is going to be a star, but like, I don't know if I'm a hundred percent buying it.
42:12And then the offense has so many questions with the quarterback uncertainty.
42:16Not that Indianapolis doesn't. But Shane Steichen, I think is proven to be like a really, really good play caller.
42:23I like Stefanski too. I did. This is really close.
42:27I'll go Colts. So. All right. Let's add the New York football giants to the mix.
42:32Falcons versus giants. I'm going to go Falcons over the giants.
42:36You're not enticed by all those defensive bodies that the giants have.
42:40Well, interior at least. I still remain concerned about the run defense.
42:44Yeah. Remain concerned about the cornerbacks secondary. I remained concerned about like neighbors, not playing football.
42:50Remain concerned about the quarterback running into people. There's lots to be concerned about.
42:54By the way, for folks, giants fans, Dominic had a great interview with John Harbaugh that talked a lot about that.
43:01The something you brought up with him, as well as just talking about the, the offense in general, I thought was really interesting.
43:09So people should go check that out. The Donnie Foster show.
43:13Yeah. I, I, I think I'm just spooked by the neighbors factor.
43:17I am still interested to see what happens with Arbel Reese.
43:21Like all the, it seems like they're putting them off ball.
43:25Right. And I don't know. He was one of the most exciting players to watch last year.
43:30So I'm excited to see what happens with them in that defense.
43:34But yeah, I think. Well, it should be. I mean, it was, we talked about this in the NFC East preview.
43:42Like the addition of him at Edmonds is like a massive upgrade potentially at linebacker.
43:47I just, and I think that will help protect the pass rushers.
43:51I'm so high on Abdel Carter. I just think the DTs are, it's us.
43:56Sent one out the door. Pays checkout is offered by your banks and credit unions.

44:24Terms and conditions apply. Amazon Health AI presents Painful Thoughts.
44:27Why did I search the internet for answers to my cold sore problem?
44:31Now I'm stuck down a rabbit hole filled with images of alarmingly graphic sores in various stages of ooze.
44:38I can clear my search history, but I can never unsee that.
44:42Don't go down the rabbit hole. Amazon Health AI gets you the right care fast.
44:47Health care just got less painful. All right. So now we got the Giants and the Saints.
44:53Okay. I was surprised you didn't have the Saints higher.
44:56Because you have them third. Or fourth. I mean, fourth in the division.
45:01That's surprising to me. So this means you're a shuck boy, right?
45:05That's the fan group that you originated. Is that how you have them ordered?
45:09Bucks, Panthers, Falcons, Saints? Probably not. Probably when I was making this list, I probably just...
45:15I didn't think about it that way. I should have.
45:18But I'm not the one on trial here. Thank you very much.
45:22I am the host of today's Power Hour. So apparently that's how you have them.
45:28I like the Saints. I'm feeling Saints optimism for the first time in many years.
45:33Yeah. I like the additions that they made. I still think they're a few pieces away, both sides of the ball.
45:40I think one of the things I like the most about the Saints is the offensive line.
45:46Which I did... Kevin Banks Jr. I went back and watched because he was my X Factor.
45:51But I came away impressed with the young players.
45:54And then they added David Edwards. I think that could be a really good unit.
46:00I really like the Jordan Tyson pick. I don't think the Saints are a playoff winning team yet.
46:06But I think they're trending in the right direction.
46:09Coaching staff's good too, man. Yeah. I love Dylan Moore.
46:12He's been awesome. Yeah. You're right. Maybe I messed up by putting him this low.
46:17I will accept criticism from Saints fans. No other fans are allowed to criticize my list.
46:23I like Saints fans. Raiders. Yes. New Orleans is the best.
46:26I love New Orleans. Raiders on deck. Raiders versus Giants.
46:30I mean, Raiders were really bad last year. But they spent a lot of money and got a high draft pick.
46:37So I guess holding some space for Mendoza to be incredible.
46:41And the offensive line overall, or the interior offensive line in particular, is going to be much better.
46:47And maybe, I mean, because they don't. Ashton Gentry, like we think he's good.
46:52Bowers, we think he's good. There's something there. They address their linebackers on defense.
46:56I'm going to go Giants. I'm still so apprehensive of this Raiders offensive line.
47:01I feel like it was, you know, the mission accomplished meme where the magician guy, it's like an anime thing where he just goes, mission accomplished.
47:10I feel like they signed title. And Irban went, mission accomplished.
47:14And I'm like, wait, what about right tackle and guard, left guard?
47:18I don't know. I just, I do like where they're headed.
47:22Yeah, they paid him a lot of money. I do like the Raiders decisions.
47:26I think the defense could actually be definitely above average.
47:30But I just think it might take a second.
47:33All right. I'm going to say Raiders versus Titans.
47:36I'm going to go Raiders here. Raiders. It's funny.
47:39The Raiders defense, again, AFC West this week, really like statistically way better than you think.
47:44Them and the Saints are the two teams where when you look over the stuff over the course of the entire season, you're like, whoa, not that bad.
47:54Which is a credit to Patrick Graham in part, who's now the defensive coordinator of the Pittsburgh Steelers, by the way.
48:01And of course, they made some additions at linebacker that I think will help a lot.
48:07I'm still a little bit apprehensive of the pass rush and the cornerback room, the secondary.
48:12But I do think the run defense is going to be good and they're going to be improved on offense, despite my apprehension about the offensive line.
48:21And just remember, how do we talk about the Steelers and not mention that the Tomlin expert?
48:27Yeah, like the new everything. The new everything. It's just that it's been a team that we could rely on being one
48:35certain type of team for so long. And now we have to assume that's going to be somewhat different.
48:41But yeah, I mean, I don't think it'll be much better, but it'll be different.
48:46All right. I think defense could be better. Yeah.
48:49Cardinals. Arizona. Wow. Up here. Mm hmm. I mean, really?
48:53We get that. Hold on. You know who I'm naming after this?
48:57You know, this is you know where we are.
49:00We're at 28, 29, 30, 31, 32. There's five spots left.
49:03Hold on. Yeah. Take a pause. Make sure you have six teams left.
49:08I do. It's 32 teams. There we go. Hold on.
49:11All right. We'll see. We'll figure it out when we get there.
49:15We'll make up some teams and throw them at the end.
49:19All right. Well, so it was Titans versus Cardinals.
49:22I'm taking the Titans. Titans. I do think the Titans offense will be better.
49:27I am excited about some of the additions for Cam Ward.
49:31I still have some questions about the offensive line, and then I have a decent amount of questions about the defense.
49:38But the Cardinals, to me, I mean. They don't even want to win.
49:42Well, you just need so many young players to be more impactful or healthy, honestly, because they were so injured last season.
49:50Both sides of the ball. Yep. Definitely didn't miscount.
49:53I just went through them. We'll see. Find out.
49:56I'm trying to remember who. There's somebody. You definitely left out someone where I'm going to be a little bit surprised.
50:03Really? Who did I leave out? Well, I don't know.
50:06I don't know. Okay. All right. Well, I mean, there's nobody that should be surprised at the end of this.
50:13So whoever I left out, we're going to have to squeeze them back in somewhere else because next up is the Browns.
50:21Browns versus Cardinals. Cardinals. I'm going to go Cardinals.
50:24Okay. So maybe that was a little bit dramatic of me with the Cardinals.
50:29Also, we're doing it in a vacuum, right? Like, I think part of the Cardinals dismissal has to do with the fact that they're in the NFC West.
50:38But like, if you put the Cardinals in, I don't know, the NFC South instead of the NFC West, I don't think
50:46anyone would be predicting them to be like, have as bad of a record as I'm sure they're projected for.
50:52Or the Browns. If I understand the power hour, it doesn't have to be like, it's not record projection.
50:59Yeah, it's not record. Exactly. That's what I'm saying.
51:02So I think some of the vibes around the Cardinals might be a little bit overinflated relative to who they actually are team.
51:10Coaching staff, though. Whatever. Anyways, the point is, I do think they are better than the Browns.
51:16Jacoby Brissett is a better quarterback than Deshaun Watson and Shor Sanders.
51:20Hold up. Man, they're going to pay my man or what?
51:23They may not have Jacoby Brissett. Man, I got the coolest holdout in the history of quarterback.
51:29I love this holdout. I'm not coming out there to be a shield for free.
51:34Y'all had to pay me to take these hits.
51:37It is really funny. Good for him. It's the best holdout.
51:41It is the funniest. It really is one of the funniest holdouts of all time.
51:46He's like, what are you going to do? Play Carson back?
51:50Go for it. All right. Three more teams. Who am I?
51:54I'm like forgetting someone. All right. It's fine. Jets versus Browns.
51:58I'm going to take the Jets here. So we just did them on the AFC East.
52:03Oh, no. You counted it right. The team. I thought I did.
52:07Yeah, you haven't run the team. Of course, the team that is always sitting at the bottom.
52:13The Jets are in a cursed position, which is it is totally possible that Geno Smith is marginally better than he was
52:20last season and because of the talent around him.
52:23And if he is and saves Aaron Glenn's job, then they lose the number one draft pick.
52:29That sucks. I do think I mean, we don't need to focus on that.
52:34I do think you do want competent quarterback play because you have so many young players on offense.
52:40It's really important to, you know, retain like to develop Cooper Jr., Sadiq, Darrell Wilson, not play with, you know, abysmal quarterback play and whatnot.
52:49Brees Hall. So I'll take the Jets here. I do think the Jets secondary is a real problem, though.
52:55I think the Jets could be a lot better, but that doesn't like I could see the Jets being better than the
53:03Raiders, the Titans and the Cardinals and the Browns where I put them at the bottom.
53:08But I mean, who's really going to be mad?
53:11Yeah, this whole bottom. Yeah, it's just six is it's been the same.
53:16I mean, it's just, you know, and the Dolphins.
53:19Okay, so we're 31 and 32 are between the Dolphins and the Browns.
53:23Common choice. I am going to take because, okay, so the Browns defense is probably the best unit both sides of the ball.
53:31But I think the Dolphins offense has the potential to be better than the Browns offense and a little more interesting despite the lack of players.
53:40I'm going to take the Browns over the Dolphins, though, because purely because of the Browns defense and how well I think they've drafted in recent years.
53:49There's quarterback competition. Extremely cursed. Okay, if I keep doing this, but I did for the Cardinals, let me do this for the Browns.
53:57If Malik Willis was the quarterback of the Browns.
54:00Instead of the Dolphins, where do you think the Dolphins would rank on this list for you?
54:06Like what tier? What range? I mean, maybe I'm not as high on Malik Willis as everybody else.
54:12They'd be significantly better, but I don't know. Still not great.
54:16Yeah, I kind of feel like the Malik Willis situation is still, the story is not completely clear.
54:22Yeah. Well, we're not going to get a good answer.
54:25Yeah, we're not going to get a good answer, but we got like four games of Malik Willis in very advantageous situations,
54:33which lots of quarterbacks don't perform well in advantageous situations.
54:36I don't mean it's at the slight on Malik Willis, but also I'm not sure that I think Malik Willis is like.
54:44It's like a savior. Yeah. Yeah. Like a tie.
54:47Well, I guess I pose that because I actually think the Browns situation could be fun and getting better.
54:53Like all the young receivers. Yeah. They added a love fan in junior.
54:58Same with the Jets. Like the Jets is a situation that I think is.
55:02Same with the Cardinals, honestly, to an extent. Like these three teams have all set up Arch Manning perfectly.
55:09All right. I'm going to read the final list.
55:12We just finished all 32. Other than the obvious Niners being the angriest, tell me which team you think.
55:18I think I know what it is actually. Rams, Seahawks, Broncos, Bills, Texans, Jags, Patriots, Eagles, Chargers, Ravens, Cowboys, Bears, Packers, Lions, Bengals, Niners.
55:27Bucks, Chiefs, Vikings, Commanders, Panthers, Steelers, Colts, Falcons, Saints, Giants, Raiders, Titans, Cardinals, Jets, Browns, Dolphins.
55:32Which one is the fan base is going to be the angriest?
55:36I think. You said other than the 49ers. Other than the 49ers.
55:40You feel strongly here with you. Bengals. I think the Bengals will say 15 is too low with that offense and the improvements they've made on defense.
55:49That's fair. Good. But you know what? I didn't put them there.
