Alec Pierce

NegativeDepth Chart45:16

Pierce's status remains unclear heading into season. He is not yet in team drills but is moving around and looks good; however, conflicting reports suggest uncertainty. Colts signed Keenan Allen, which could indicate either they are not comfortable with Pierce's timeline or they don't love what they've seen from Josh Downs in two-receiver sets. Pierce has fallen from early fifth round ADP to eighth round in recent drafts, and speaker is now interested at that price point even if he misses a month or lands on PUP.

Insight page

Alvin Kamara

NegativeInjury37:00

Out for at least a month, possibly longer. Given his age (approaching or at 30) and long NFL tenure, his body recovery may be slower than younger players. His absence opens up targets and workload for Travis Etienne.

Insight page

Bijan Robinson

NegativeRole31:00

Speaker has half as many shares of Bijan Robinson as Parker Washington. Robinson goes anywhere in the late fifth to early-to-mid sixth round. He was drafted seventh overall last year but speaker still thinks he's a big talent in a good offense, though less invested than in Parker Washington.

Insight page

Blake Corum

PositiveBreakout40:00

Speaker leaves every draft with either a share of Blake Corum or Jonathan Brooks for upside, with over 20 shares of each. Both are viewed as upside shots in the later rounds.

Insight page

Brandon Aiyuk

PositiveValue61:00

With Ricky Pearsall gone, Brandon Aiyuk (referred to as 'Strib' or 'Strib City') has become one of the biggest movers on draft boards. He was previously going just past Debo Samuel but has now risen to the seventh round (sometimes eighth). Speaker notes that people initially made fun of the pick but are now playing catch-up because they want exposure to him after seeing his strong preseason usage.

Insight page

Chase Brown

PositiveProjection12:00

Chase Brown is projected to receive 90 targets this season; he benefits from playing alongside two alpha receivers (T. Higgins and Jamar Chase) who lighten the box and reduce contact at the line of scrimmage. Brown is more favored than James Cook and CMC/JT this year due to his high touch volume last season.

Insight page

Chris Rodriguez

NegativeRole34:00

Going in the 11th round or early 12th. Speaker will draft him at that price. Rodriguez goes back to Cone with Kentucky. He has limited receiving experience (seven NFL receptions, maybe 20 throughout college), so he won't be catching passes. The Jaguars are giving both Rodriguez and Tootin a chance to win the job, with Rodriguez offering a known commodity—he'll fall forward and get yards consistently, though without big-play upside.

Insight page

D.J. Moore

PositiveValue22:00

ADP has risen from the 50s in casual formats (Underdog, DraftKings) to early fourth round; now going at the 3-4 turn in NFFC. Speaker notes he's been one of his favorite players to draft this offseason because he stylistically matches well with Josh Allen's backyard football style—Moore is a freestyle player who thrives when plays extend, contrasting with his fit in Ben Johnson's meticulous offense. His game complements Allen's ability to extend plays. Stacking him with Allen at the 3-4 turn makes sense given their offensive compatibility.

Insight page
PositiveValue22:00

DJ Moore has risen to early fourth round in NFFC ADP over the last few days and is creeping up in casual formats (Underdog, DraftKings) where he has held ADP in the 50s for most of the offseason.

Insight page

D'Andre Swift

PositiveValue42:00

Used as an example of a fifth-round pick in a 'building backwards' strategy where speaker waits until the fifth round to secure a strong running back, then pairs it with an upside shot like Jonathan Brooks in the same round, and secures an RB3 later (eighth round) with players like Dobbins or Mason. This approach allows for four strong wide receivers while maintaining running back depth.

Insight page

Deebo Samuel

PositiveValue59:00

Debo is going off the board at pick 126 and speaker really likes his cost. From weeks 1-11 last year with 49ers, he was WR16 in PPG. He struggled in Washington and is now back with San Francisco, where he is in really good shape and lean (previously put on weight during pneumonia, which was a major health factor). Speaker views this as getting a piece of a top-five offense at pick 126 with a weapon the 49ers know how to use, especially given health concerns across the 49ers roster.

Insight page

DK Metcalf

NegativeValue53:00

Speaker does not find himself drafting DK Metcalf much, despite the Steelers offense being viewed as having value. Speaker notes the entire Pittsburgh offense is dirt cheap in price, but it's a matter of picking the right guy; if taking one Steelers receiver, speaker tends to prefer Pittman.

Insight page

George Kittle

PositiveValue62:00

At 33 years old, Kittle was not drafted early by speaker but is now being drafted more frequently as he is looking good in camp. Speaker is starting to draft him more, suggesting his price has become attractive enough to warrant selection despite age concerns.

Insight page

Jayden Daniels

PositiveValue55:00

Jaden Daniels is going at pick 100 in drafts, which speaker finds crazy given his elite upside. Speaker notes the difference in points per game at QB is not very high, but elite quarterbacks like Daniels could easily finish as QB2 and give massive positional advantage. Despite this upside, he is still being pushed down far in drafts, suggesting significant value at his ADP.

Insight page

Jaylen Warren

NegativeRole51:30

Warren is going a full round ahead of Rico Dowdle in ADP despite Rico being viewed as the lead back. Speaker has historically been a Warren guy but notes that Steelers ran the ball 114 times last year (or 80 on Warren's own), suggesting third-down role for Warren with dump-off passes. Speaker is not drafting much Warren this year despite past preference, indicating the lead-back role may be limited.

Insight page

Jeremiyah Love

NegativeInjury15:00

Jeremiah Love suffered a high ankle sprain in preseason and has fallen from the 2-3 turn to the 3-4 turn; the high ankle sprain is concerning for durability. However, he retains second-half league-winner potential if healthy, and the Falcons have a capable backup in Carson Beck and one of the best playoff schedules.

Insight page
PositiveValue26:00

Now going at the 3-4 turn instead of the 2-3 turn where speaker was previously uncomfortable; this price drop makes him more comfortable taking shares. The shift in ADP opens up value for Love as other players' prices rise.

Insight page

Jonathon Brooks

PositiveValue0:54

Jonathan Brooks' ADP is soaring up the board due to Chubba Hubbard's injury, creating a significant value opportunity as his draft price rises in response to increased opportunity.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout40:00

ADP has risen significantly; went as high as fourth round in FFPC format a week ago, now at 6-5 in this format. Was living at the 5-6 turn previously. Speaker leaves every draft with either a share of Brooks or Blake Corum for upside, with over 20 shares of each. The preseason game against the Bills actually increased speaker's conviction rather than souring him. Brooks was very talented at Texas, playing primarily after Bijan Robinson. Speaker's entire thesis is on his pass-catching ability; with a weak Panthers offensive line and weak quarterback play (starter threw for just over 200 yards only three times last year), the offense will rely on dump-off passes. Brooks is being featured in the passing game in practice clips, not just dump-offs but also downfield routes. Speaker is all-in on Brooks as the silver lining in a bleak Carolina offense, and believes he doesn't fail as a player.

Insight page

Josh Downs

PositiveValue44:12

Going off the board at pick 71; speaker is a long-time believer in Downs' talent and expects him to get opportunity in two-receiver sets even with Keenan Allen signing. The core thesis: when Downs plays two-thirds of snaps, he crushes; speaker expects that volume this year despite the Allen addition, which was brought in primarily for familiarity with head coach and to replace Alec Pierce temporarily. Speaker willing to 'die on that hill' and suggests it might even be a financial conviction.

Insight page

Keenan Allen

NegativeProjection49:00

Speaker expresses concern that Father Time is catching up to Allen. Evidence: first seven games last year he averaged seven targets per game; next nine games he had seven targets once; last regular season game he had 13 targets but only seven catches for 36 yards. Speaker acknowledges Allen can get open in short-intermediate areas but expects Downs to play all over the field, suggesting limited upside for Allen in this offense.

Insight page

Kenneth Walker III

PositiveValue5:42

Kenneth Walker is too good of a value to pass up when falling to the turn in the second round; Matt Modica took him at picks 8-9 in slow primes and projects him at Kareem Hunt's rookie season production level. Walker is the dynamic back the Chiefs have lacked for years, and Andy Reid paid him to be the focal point of the offense.

Insight page

Lamar Jackson

NegativeValue28:00

Currently going at pick 81; speaker's second-ranked quarterback. Despite typically not drafting quarterbacks high, speaker is willing to take elite talent falling this far, noting it's hard to pass up when value falls to you.

Insight page

LeQuint Allen

NegativeInjury36:00

Injured and did not play in the preseason game, which was a tell that the Jaguars want to rely on him in the passing game. However, he suffered a soft tissue injury in the next practice and is out for the entire rest of preseason, opening up opportunity for Tootin to step up and catch passes.

Insight page

Malik Nabers

PositiveValue20:48

Malik Nabers has completed a 180-degree turnaround in draft value; Matt Modica now advises to draft him early and often. Nabers is going mid-to-early second round in NFFC (pick 25 at latest), and Modica projects him to creep into the first round by September as positive news continues. Even at 90% health, Nabers' elite volume is better than 95% of available wide receivers, and there are few mouths to feed in the Giants offense.

Insight page

Parker Washington

PositiveRole30:00

Broke out over the last nine games plus playoffs after the offense was geared toward him in week eight. Speaker has drafted him anywhere from mid-sixth round to the 3-4 turn and is one of his most owned players. He is expecting Parker Washington to get a contract extension before opening day. Despite an undisclosed injury keeping him day-to-day, speaker remains invested and hopeful it's minor or personal.

Insight page
PositiveValue48:00

Parker Washington is speaker's most-owned receiver (along with Josh Downs as second-most owned). Speaker has made bets on the Carolina offense and is drafting Parker Washington heavily, indicating strong conviction in his upside.

Insight page

Ricky Pearsall

PositiveValue60:00

Speaker was a major fan of Pearsall and drafted him as his fourth receiver at a perfect price point. However, Pearsall is now gone (likely injured or off the board). His departure has opened the door for other 49ers receivers like Brandon Aiyuk to rise in ADP.

Insight page

Rico Dowdle

PositiveRole50:18

Speaker believes Rico will be the lead back in Dallas despite Jalen Warren going a full round ahead in ADP. All camp reports indicate Rico has looked phenomenal and will get the bulk of carries; both backs will catch passes, but Rico will be the primary rusher. Speaker is shocked at his price point and calls him one of his favorite board values in best ball format at $150 for NFC championship, noting he has seen Rico slip into the 10th round.

Insight page

Sam LaPorta

PositiveProjection55:30

Speaker ranks LaPorta as his number four tight end this year and finds himself drafting him a ton. LaPorta is poised for a big year given the Lions' last-place schedule and expectation that the offense bounces back significantly. Speaker views him as one of the premium tight ends (not elite tier, but special) with ability to win weeks.

Insight page

Travis Etienne

PositiveProjection37:00

Currently going at pick 54 overall in the fifth round. With Alvin Kamara out for at least a month (possibly longer given his age and injury history), Etienne's workload should increase. Speaker has moved him up in rankings to right ahead of Kyron and right behind Javante Williams, pushing him into fourth-round consideration. The loss of Tyson (two-month injury) also means more targets available. Speaker is now getting shares after previously avoiding him, especially as he falls to the 5-6 turn in NFFC formats where receivers push running backs down.

Insight page

Travis Hunter

NegativeRole32:00

Despite assumptions that he would become a full-time offensive player if given the opportunity, Hunter is still not playing significant snaps on offense in joint practices. In recent joint practices, he had 28 snaps on defense and only 2 snaps on offense, primarily playing cornerback. This is a cautionary sign that the injury-away narrative may not materialize as expected.

0:54Jonathan Brooks ADP is soaring up the board right now due to Chubba Hubbard going down due to injury.
1:00Jonathan Brooks and plenty more players are shifting up and down the board.
1:05We're going to break it all down right here on Player Profiler.
1:09What is going on, folks? Pete Nova here with Player Profiler.
1:12Super excited to be back. I have Matt Modica, who is part of the Fantasy Empire show here at Player Profiler.
1:19Matt is a very sharp guy, high stakes drafter, and is one of those guys that's pretty much in the trenches the
1:26last month, probably even earlier than that, Matt. Just looking at ADP, seeing where the markets are shifting and kind of just
1:33reacting as fantasy managers are reacting in real time.
1:36You're probably one of the better guys to bring on right now at this stage of the offseason because you've seen so
1:44many guys, again, move up and down the board.
1:47So excited to get your insight. Thanks so much for joining us.
1:50We're going to pick your brain a little bit here today.
1:54Well, thank you for having me. Excited to do this talk.
1:58You know, NFFC, ADP, been in the streets since like the first week of June, doing the live streams with Nelson Sousa, Paul Spateri.
2:06So I think I got like probably at least 25 live streams under my belt.
2:10Yeah, live streams. And then that's probably not even including the drafts that you aren't live streaming, right?
2:16Yes. Plenty of drafts this year under your belt and plenty of drafts in high stakes just over the last, I don't
2:24know, how many years have you been playing? Forgetting about just fantasy football, how many years have you been playing in high stakes?
2:31Well, I was really big on baseball. That's where I got in and kind of made my bones.
2:37It was NFBC, not NFFC. And I started like dabbling a little in NFFC.
2:42And then probably like around, you know, the late teens, like 2017, 18, 19, that area, I really started getting into football.
2:49And then the last few years, it's pretty much been all football and stopped doing baseball.
2:54Yeah. And when it comes to football versus baseball, baseball is a it's a tough grind, right?
3:00I mean, I do one high stakes league. It's not on the high stakes website, but it's like a five hundred dollar entry.
3:07It's only 10 guys. And it's just, you know, it's the NL only.
3:11Right. And it's Roto. It's it's like one. It's like two ad drops a week.
3:16It's a line of blocks one time. So you don't have to worry about continuously coming in every single day and doing the dailies and stuff.
3:25That's where fantasy baseball can be really tedious. But it is.
3:28I personally feel like there's more edges in fantasy baseball and it's a lot more data dependent.
3:34Where with football, we can look at the spreadsheets a ton and try to analyze a bunch of stuff.
3:40But the truth is, like the spreadsheets, it doesn't it doesn't translate nearly as much on a week by week basis.
3:47Whereas baseball, there's so many different things that you can track.
3:51So I feel like it makes it a little bit easier to find edges there and to predict for the future.
3:58But yeah, like I said, super excited to have you on here.
4:02Let's talk a little bit about the board, though.
4:05Let's just hop right into it. So we talked prior and we decided we were going to do the last three days of NFFC ADP.
4:13So this is what we have here on the board.
4:16And for those that don't know the format with NFFC, you know, it is a third round reversal.
4:22Roster construction is a little bit different than maybe, you know, another site that you might be drafting on.
4:28It is PPR as well. But before we get into the players for you, do you target a specific build early on in drafts this year?
4:37Are you one of those drafters that you're drafting with so much volume that, you know, you're maybe tinkering or trying a
4:44couple of different builds to try to get exposure to guys just in case you're wrong?
4:49Or what's your methodology this season? I mean, I'm going to diversify, but I'm only going to diversify on these players that I like.
4:57I have a certain pool. It's really not that big, be honest with you, because if you like everybody or not even
5:04if you like everybody, if you are in on everybody, then you're really in on nobody.
5:09So I think you have to take stands on players and, you know, make some commitments here.
5:15As far as builds go, it's going to depend where I am picking.
5:19Just like, for instance, if I'm picking three to five in the NFFC where you have to start three wide receivers, for
5:26me, most likely, unless somebody fell that, you know, was that I didn't expect, I'm going for four wide receivers.
5:33And I think that's advantageous because the way the board is giving you that running back in the fifth, that could be your RB1.
5:41And in the early sixth, you can get an upshot RB2 guy.
5:45You know, maybe there's question marks and stuff, but there's talent there, you know.
5:49But, you know, sometimes if you're picking, like, say, five, and you start out with a JSN or an Amon-Ra, if a
5:57Hampton fell, you know, he was never falling there until Mike McDaniel made that comment, which I think was, even if it
6:04wasn't a joke, you should not be following, you know, you should be buying a Hampton as much as possible.
6:10I know the lines, I know their line just took a loss with the center, so that's not good.
6:17But still, that's a top offense. Yeah. And when it comes to just the board, at least the last three days, in
6:24the first 48 picks, 28 wide receivers go off the board compared to 16 running backs.
6:29You know, it's normal though, right? Three wide receivers is what you have to start.
6:34So that gets pushed up, which is funny because this year, Matt, we hear all, everybody's saying the same thing, right?
6:41You got to draft running backs early. You got to draft running backs early.
6:45Like that's become that kind of herd mentality. And, you know, I'm not going to zig just to, I'm not going to
6:53zag when everybody's zigging just to do it for the sake of doing it.
6:57I'm with you though. Typically in these drafts, my strategy is trying to anchor down with a running back, right?
7:04And then hitting a ton of the wide receiver values after that.
7:08Just looking here at the first round to the second round, right?
7:12Running backs that go off the board at the end of the first, it's Jonathan Taylor, it's Ashton Gentry, it's James Cook.
7:19Then on the turn, you're getting a lot more running backs.
7:23So it feels like the running backs, like being on that one, two turn this year feels really good.
7:29It's being stuck in the middle this year between, you know, five and seven or five and eight is probably my least favorite area to draft, Matt.
7:38I don't know about you, but I just feel like if you, if you get the one, two, three, you're getting obviously
7:45a very elite player in Gibbs, Bijon chase, depending on how you have it.
7:49Maybe even some Puka there, depending on who's drafting.
7:52But then on the turn for the one, two, these running backs, like we look at, they get gobbled and gobbled up.
8:00I'm actually surprised Kenneth Walker is available. He's kind of being pushed into the middle of the second round over the last few days.
8:07What is your thoughts on Kenneth Walker? You touched on Amari on Hampton there.
8:12It's Hampton, it's Chase Brown, then H and then Barkley, then Kenneth Walker.
8:16Do you have it this way for you? If you're drafting typically, do you prefer those players over Kenneth Walker?
8:23Yeah, I mean, Kenneth Walker in the OC isn't going in the middle of a second round anymore.
8:29Like once in a while, maybe he's more going around that, you know, around the turn.
8:34Okay. So, you know, if he falls there, I'll tell you straight out, I did two slow primes that I picked between eight and nine.
8:42And I took Kenneth Walker on the turn when he was there.
8:46And he's just too good of a value for me to pass up.
8:50I think he's going to be the Chiefs offense.
8:53If I had to like project the line and I don't really do projections, I don't sit there and like crunch those numbers out.
9:01But I would put him at, say, Kareem Hunt's rookie season.
9:05You know, I think he's going to be the offense.
9:08They have not had a dynamic back in years.
9:11Andy Reid, once upon a time, he wanted that Andy Reid running back.
9:15They just went out, paid this guy, got him the bag.
9:19And, you know. Well, it's a good thing. I just got to stop you.
9:23It's a good thing that you mentioned it because I just did the filter again.
9:28It's funny. We were just talking. That's what I wanted to say to you.
9:33I had a preset. It's almost like a nudge from you of like, hey, I'm trying to tell you that the board doesn't look right without telling you.
9:42You want to know how I knew instantly? Yeah.
9:45It was the third round. In the third round, it's pretty much it's a wide receiver avalanche.
9:51There's times it could basically if Henry's there, Henry will go.
9:54But there's times it might be like Derrick Henry and that's it.
9:58Otherwise, it's all receivers. So. Yeah. Well, OK. So talk to me about Hampton and Walker.
10:03Right. Because I'm very high on Chase Brown and Walker.
10:07Brown is is becoming a one to turn pick.
10:10I was I pretty much that's what I said when I came out.
10:14I came out with my rankings a couple of weeks ago.
10:18I have Chase Brown at the one, too. I think he deserves to be there.
10:22But I have him in Walker kind of right neck and neck right now.
10:27There's I have Walker ahead of Chase Brown now.
10:30I've had it flip flopped. But I haven't really for me in preference.
10:34I have it as as Walker Chase Brown right now.
10:38And then I do have like Devon A chain and Barkley ahead of Omar on Hampton.
10:43Again, what are your what are your thoughts there?
10:46Like, let's just at least start with those three.
10:49Chase Brown, Kenneth Walker, Hampton. Are you like, hey, I'm just trying to get exposure to the three guys and you mix
10:56and match pretty much if you're on that side of the board.
11:00Typically, are you in on all three of those guys?
11:03And who would be the guy out of those three that you like the least?
11:08I am in on all three of them. I took Chase Brown in the current slow prime time I'm doing.
11:15I took him at nine. So, you know, for me, it was he's just in he's just in a great offense.
11:21I mean, Burrow has been injury prone, but I don't really see like the one guy behind him is Samajay Pirine.
11:28And I guess the sophomore running back, you know, so I don't really see a threat as long as he's healthy.
11:35He's going to get volume. They were working him out in the slot.
11:39And, you know, Chase Brown to me, I'm more in on like James Cook and Chase Brown than CMC and JT this year.
11:47I could be dead wrong on that, but they both had, you know, most touches last year.
11:53I kind of like fade that. So we'll see.
11:56Yeah. And I'm with you. And the Chase Brown thing for me, you know, one beautiful thing about Chase Brown and this
12:03offense is just you're getting two alphas on the outside.
12:06Right. In T. Higgins and Jamar Chase, which lightens up these boxes for Chase Brown to pretty much like really not take
12:13much contact at the line of scrimmage because defenses have to play them honest because they have so many weapons on the outside.
12:21So I have Chase Brown. I know you talked about the projections.
12:25It's not really your thing of crunching every single teams.
12:28I did this year's projections for Chase Brown. I did it for every team.
12:33Chase Brown, I have catching or I'm sorry, getting 90 targets this year.
12:37I do think it's very, very possible for Brown.
12:40I do think that defense is going to be a little bit better this year than we've seen in years past.
12:47They've made some improvements, which could be a little bit of a bummer when it comes to Chase Brown and projecting just the offense.
12:55Maybe they slow down a little bit. But who really knows?
12:58Right. It's still projecting for the defense. They still got to put it together.
13:03And we haven't seen that so far in the Joe Burrow era.
13:07Yeah. As far as Hampton goes, I mean, I wasn't buying anything Mike McDaniel was saying.
13:12What is he going to say? I mean, he's a three headed monster.
13:16Yeah. Tell me what team in recent memory has ever had a three headed monster at running back.
13:22Truly. There's some teams where you have the one-two punch and then you have a gadget guy that kind of goes in
13:29and is kind of like a special teams guy, but really doesn't make much of an impact.
13:35The truth is, and he also made the comment about the hot hand thing.
13:39And I'm just like, come on. We're talking about a hot hand.
13:43And like people reading into it a little too much.
13:47Now, my real concern, and you touched on it, is really just, you know, Rashawn Slater had a little bit of a setback with the patello tendon injury.
13:56He did miss some practice already. And that's popped up the last week.
14:00You obviously lost Biotis at center. So now they're relying on Slaughter.
14:04They're rookie center. And then at right tackle, you also have Joe Alt, who, you know, is obviously coming off ankle surgery.
14:11And they don't have much depth behind them. So hopefully Mike McDaniels can work some magic.
14:17Maybe, you know, the nice thing about McDaniels is he gets the ball out quickly in his scheme.
14:22So from a pass rush standpoint, just from Herbert's perspective, it may not be as much of a detriment because he can probably scheme around it.
14:31And we know Herbert's been able to elevate even with a depleted offensive line around him.
14:36So we'll have to see how it goes. But I do want to grab your opinion in the third round here because it's pretty telling.
14:44You see Jeremiah Love now going at the 3-4 turn.
14:48And that's interesting. I was not big on Jeremiah Love, Matt, you know, drafting him at the 1-2 turn.
14:54I mean, I'm sorry, the 2-3 turn where he was going a lot in, you know, a month ago, weeks ago.
15:01He obviously gets this ankle injury. And now he's kind of fallen to this 3-4 turn.
15:06This starts to become a little bit more of the area where I'm more comfortable drafting him.
15:12But if I am in that one hole where he is falling on the board and I have taken Gibbs, I'm probably
15:19not passing up on the wide receivers in this area because you have to start three.
15:24Is that typically your mindset too? Have you been drafting Love and where he's going right here?
15:30Does that kind of make sense? And is that something that you probably would be following as well because you did talk about hammering those wide receivers early?
15:39Usually I do like to just hammer the wide receivers if I get a Gibbs or a Bijan and take that advantage.
15:46All my Jeremiah Love shares in the NFFC online championship are in the 4th round.
15:51I don't think I have any in the 3rd.
15:54But he has gone early 4th at times even before the injury.
15:58And right before the injury, I was doing a prime time.
16:01And I don't know if I started pickings, burden.
16:04And I did take Love on that 3-4 turn.
16:07And then the game happened. He looked great. I was excited.
16:11And then he got hurt. Then he had, you know, 14 plays, whatever insane number they decided to use that game.
16:18But hopefully, you know, it's a high ankle, so that's never good.
16:22I would take him if he falls further in the 4th round.
16:26Then I'd have him in consideration. But the high ankle sprain does scare me.
16:30I do think he is a player that has the possibility to be a second-half league winner.
16:36Of course, again, I don't even really care. I mean, I want it to be Brissette.
16:41But they have a capable backup. The rookie, let's see what Carson Beck is.
16:46I really don't know. He looked good against backups in preseason.
16:49But this defense is so bad. They got no improvement.
16:53Remember last year? They were garbage time monsters. I mean, Michael Wilson had two number one weeks.
16:58And they have one of the greatest playoff schedules as well.
17:02Yeah. It's – the Love injury is going to be interesting to see how he shakes that off.
17:08And, you know, it was such a boneheaded thing.
17:11We're going to take a quick break. And then we're going to jump back to Malik Neighbors because I do want to touch on him.
17:19I know we're in the third round here. He does sometimes go third round.
17:23But he has moved up to now the second round with the positive news that's come out.
17:29So we're going to take a quick break. We'll go back to Malik Neighbors.
17:34Get your thoughts on that when we come back.
17:36The NFFC, my favorite high-stakes fantasy platform. Why? Third round reversal.
17:40Kentucky Derby draft slot allocation. So it's a lottery-based system where you can put in your preference where you want to draft.
17:47It's full PPR. There's three receivers. It's the best place to play fantasy football, especially for high stakes.
17:53And now they've combined with the FFWC. They have a lot more contests to offer.
17:58In fact, they have a double crown bonus where you can join the NFFC primetime.
18:03And if you win that, $300,000. You can also join the Circle World Championship.
18:08And that's $200,000. You win both. You win a million dollars.

19:29Terms and more at applecard.com. All right, folks. We are back here with Matt Modica talking NFC ADP risers, fallers, and just
19:36talking a little bit of draft strategy. Do you want to talk about Malik Neighbors?
19:41Because what an offseason, Matt, Malik Neighbors has had.
19:44When you talk about just ADP in general, Malik Neighbors has had – I mean he's lived on quite literally all ends of the spectrum ADP.
19:53We had the whole charity softball game and everyone's hyper-analyzing how he looks jogging to first base.
19:58Now he looks really fluid, really good in these team drills.
20:02He's getting back and back and more acclimated. We still don't know about week one, but his price point now in NFFC
20:09over the last few days is sitting at pick 20, which is a late second-round pick, kind of mid-late second-round pick, would go to team four technically.
20:18But what are your thoughts about Neighbors? I have taken him in more of the best ball formats.
20:24I have taken him as high as early second round.
20:27There's been a lot of times where he's came back to me on the third-round reversal, and I've taken him there as well.
20:35But what are your thoughts on Neighbors? Is this a price point for you that's still too high coming off of this
20:42injury, or do you find yourself comfortable taking chances on him as well even if his price point's here?
20:48I mean I've done a complete 180, and my advice is draft Neighbors early and often.
20:53I think it was August 2nd I sent out a tweet.
20:57I was doing a slow prime and a slow online championship.
21:01And I took Neighbors at 3.5 in a slow prime.
21:04That doesn't exist anymore in that format. But in the OC, every now and then he might get to pick 25.
21:11But he's basically going anywhere from maybe late second on the off occasion, but more to mid to early second.
21:17And I think by September, if it keeps going positive over the next couple of weeks, you're going to see him creep
21:25into the first round, especially when they have these big money drafts in Vegas that they do, like these are closed leagues
21:32that are $5,000, $10,000 entries and stuff like that.
21:35People will get very aggressive. Even 90% of Neighbors is better than probably 95% of the wide receivers.
21:41Yeah, it's a good point. And it's just as simple of you want exposure to elite players.
21:46Neighbors is still elite while maybe efficiency could drop off.
21:50Volume-wise, we know that's probably still going to be there.
21:53There's not a lot of mouths to feed in this offense.
21:56And so, yeah, I'm comfortable taking him there as well.
22:00I have him ranked Malik Neighbors as a one-two turn pick.
22:03So I'm totally comfortable taking him there. Let's talk about DJ Moore.
22:07DJ Moore, you're a Bills guy. I would be curious to know your thoughts on him.
22:12He's risen. He's now at early fourth round. What's the highest you've seen DJ Moore go?
22:18Because for more casual, maybe non-high stakes drafts, you play on Underdog, you play on DraftKings.
22:23DJ Moore has been pretty much in the 50s for where his ADP has been for pretty much the entire offseason.
22:30He's started to creep up even in that format.
22:33But where do you typically see him go? And is this a price point for you, first pick in the fourth round,
22:40where you'd be still comfortable taking him in these formats?
22:43Well, as a Bills fan, I was furious last year.
22:47They didn't trade for Jalen Waddle and give up next year's first round pick or whatever, and when they traded for DJ Moore, I was extremely pissed.
22:55Not that they got DJ Moore, but that they paid a second round pick, number one, and you knew they were cutting
23:03him or they were getting rid of DJ Moore.
23:06He was not a fit in the Ben Johnson offense, had a big contract still, and the GM just got swindled there.
23:13If he would have spent the fourth round pick, so I've had a bias that I've been angry about it.
23:19Yeah, this feels like a sore subject for you a little bit.
23:23He did play under their now head coach in Carolina, and he had one of his best seasons.
23:29So now I am starting to come around. I only had a couple of shares maybe prior to the preseason game.
23:36And prior to the preseason game, for the most part, he was living at the end of the fourth, sometimes early fifth, in the NFFC.
23:44Now, like you said, he's going at the 3-4 turn.
23:48My boys, the Fantasy Sopranos, Steve G and Nelson, they were the ones that started taking him like a week prior, around that time, around the 3-4 turn.
23:57And then everybody started doing it. I even did it in an OC last week.
24:02I wanted to do another Bill stack, so I went with him and Alan there.
24:07And I did see him, was it yesterday? I did an afternoon OC, and he went at 3-5.
24:12So that was the highest I've seen him. I pretty much really hadn't seen him before the 3-4 turn.
24:19He seemed to be living there, or maybe right before.
24:22But he's a very wanted man right now, it looks like.
24:26And if they do another preseason game, and he gets peppered again, or makes another big play, I think it's only going to go up.
24:34Yeah. This is one of those things where there's advantages in drafting early.
24:38Sometimes there's disadvantages, right? If you're somebody overweight on Jaden Higgins, who unfortunately just went down today, there's some disadvantages there.
24:45But then there's advantages, right? I mean, DJ Moore has been one of my favorite players to draft this offseason.
24:51I just feel like stylistically he matches really, really well with Josh Allen from that backyard football style, right?
24:58I mean, DJ Moore in Ben Johnson's offense, he's like, you need to be right here at this very spot, at this point in the play.
25:06It's very meticulous. Where with Josh Allen, it's a lot of free flowing because he extends plays.
25:12And that's DJ Moore's game. He is a guy that will freestyle.
25:16He's not the sharpest route runner, but he's somebody who knows how to play backyard football.
25:21And so I feel like they match up very, very well.
25:25And it makes a lot of sense to see DJ go this high.
25:29Because like you said, Allen and his price point, if you are trying to stack him, right?
25:34It's a lot of guys taking him on that 3-4 turn with DJ and Allen.
25:39It makes sense to stack both guys there. So I can totally, totally understand that.
25:44And it's kind of a bummer because you start to see guys that you really love the value on.
25:50And then their price starts to go higher and higher.
25:54And that value is just not there. But it also opens up for other players to maybe go lower, right?
26:00And you start to get guys at price points you feel a little more comfortable with.
26:06Like for me, that's Jeremiah Love, who I didn't feel comfortable going around that 2-3 turn.
26:11But now he's going 3-4 turn. And now I'm more comfortable to go ahead and get some shares of him.
26:17So it kind of washes itself either way. Wash your back.
26:21You wash my back. I wash your back kind of thing.
26:25You know, it finds its way to come back.
26:27It kind of, you know. I'll say one thing on players, you know, and a lot of it's preference.
26:34And, you know, it's like a stock. If there's a stock that you believe in, it's like a blue chip stock that's really good.
26:42And it keeps going up. And you buy it on the way up because it's like an investment you believe in.
26:48This is what you have to do. Like some people are like, well, I got him in the fourth round.
26:55I'm not paying third round prices. I'm like, I don't understand that.
26:59Because, you know, that's why I personally, most of my draft season will be over like come September.
27:05You know, I'll do a couple that first week because the season actually starts very late this year.
27:11But I like to start early and draft early because you get prices and you get builds that you're never going to get.
27:18Like even now, like after the 12th round, there's nothing.
27:22It's really sketch out there. Yeah. Yeah, it is.
27:25And I like that analogy. It's funny. Like I talked to my buddy and because, you know, we invest in stocks too.
27:32And it's like my one buddy is always, you know, we'll take like Apple, for example.
27:37I'm talking to him like three, four years ago.
27:40And I'm like, yeah, like either way, like we'll get a little bit of Apple.
27:45And we're young guys. So, you know, you obviously want to take risk.
27:49You don't want to invest in every blue chip because it's like you have a lot of time to recover.
27:56But it's the same thing with him. It's like, well, you know, it's like it's already at this point.
28:02We got to we got to find things that are going to, you know, triple our value.
28:07Right. And that's what people are looking for so much where people get so caught up in the value of the board
28:15where you have to have some sort of balance with it.
28:18Right. It's like I'll take value when value falls to me, of course, like Lamar Jackson, you know, where he goes.
28:25Sometimes he slips even further. But right now, Lamar Jackson's going at pick 81.
28:30Right. Lamar Jackson's my second ranked quarterback. I typically don't draft quarterbacks high.
28:34But when I'm getting elite talent falling that far to me, like it's hard to pass up.
28:40Right. So those are times where I'll take the value.
28:43And then there's times you got to go up and reach and go pay that price for something that you really like and you care about.
28:51And that's kind of to your point. You know, if you're a big fan of DJ Moore and this price tag scares
28:59you off, then kind of like what you said before, if you buy everyone, then who are you really in on?
29:05And same thing here, like if you're really in on the player, like believe that and don't let other people kind of
29:13shift it, that opinion for you, as well as, you know, don't let the board shift that opinion for you.
29:19But let's go ahead and look at the rest of the board here.
29:23Let's keep it moving. I do want to talk about Parker Washington.
29:27Right. He goes off at the board now in the fourth round.
29:31He did pop up on this like injury. What are your thoughts on Washington?
29:36I know the CMC talk lately, they're saying it's possibly contract related.
29:40Do you think the Parker Washington undisclosed injury where they're telling us, hey, he's going to be back in a week, but
29:47they won't tell us what the injury is and he's day to day.
29:51Do you think it has anything to do with possibly hammering out a contract extension?
29:56Because we have heard about a contract extension for Parker Washington.
30:00And I assumed his ADP was going to shoot up the board once that happened.
30:05But just these continuous days of him stacking and stacking and stacking more days.
30:09Now he's sitting here in that fourth round. But I still love him and I'm still probably drafting him as well.
30:16Do you think there's something to something with this injury?
30:20And are you hoping that we get a little bit of a discount on Parker Washington or is he somebody you're not really drafting?
30:27First, I hope it's more of like a personal reason maybe or something minor.
30:32I do think he's getting a contract before opening day.
30:35You know, it seems like I look everybody says he broke out the last four weeks and he broke out after the
30:42week eight by the offense got geared towards him.
30:45It revolved around him. And that's why when I hear that, I'm like, no, it was 10 games plus the playoffs or whatever.
30:53Nine games plus the playoffs. I've been drafting Parker Washington anywhere as late as the mid sixth.
30:59I've drafted him as high as the three, four turn.
31:02And he is, if not my most owned player, one of my most owned players.
31:07Love that. So I have very invested in Parker Washington.
31:10On the flip side, I do have probably half as many shares as of BTJ.
31:15Because he goes anywhere in the late fifth to early to mid sixth now.
31:20And he's still, look, he was a guy we were drafting like seventh overall last year.
31:25And I still think he's a big talent. I think this is a really good offense.
31:30So I'm in on him. But I am in on Parker Washington.
31:34If this is a serious injury, I might be in serious trouble.
31:38So I'll light a candle for the next week.
31:41And hopefully it's something minor or personal. And again, I do believe when the season kicks off, he will have a new contract.
31:48Yeah, I'm with you. Let's take a look now at a player on Parker.
31:53Well, I do want to add one note and then we'll go to the next player.
31:58We're going to tell him a bit. But one thing to note, too, with Parker Washington being out, it is being reported
32:05that Travis Hunter is still really not playing a ton on offense, which is kind of surprising because we have kind of
32:13a lot of people have fallen into that trap of assuming that Hunter is an injury away from being a full blown, full time offensive player.
32:21And we haven't seen it just yet in these joint practices where he could be getting some really important reps against other teams.
32:29It has not been the case. He hasn't played a ton of offense.
32:33It's mainly been on defense, which is pretty telling.
32:36So I'm curious to see with Parker being out, if maybe that changes depending on how many more days he's out.
32:43But that's one thing that I've taken notice of and I've been interested in.
32:47I saw it today, though. Yeah. I don't mean to cut you off.
32:52But I think it was today they had a joint practice and he was basically like cornerback one.
32:58He had 28 snaps on defense and like only two on offense.
33:01Yeah. So. And it's a little surprising. It could just be that they want him.
33:06Maybe it flips. I don't know if they have a joint practice tomorrow.
33:11Maybe it flips. And they're just trying to get him focused on one side of the ball each day.
33:17I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure they've already had two practices and it's really been majorly on the defense side of the ball.
33:25Now, Bashaw Tootin is going off the board at pick number 60.
33:29The Chris Rodriguez drumbeat seems to be getting a little bit more louder.
33:33It feels like this team believes that Chris Rodriguez is going to be that guy that they want to use at the goal line.
33:41And it was reported that the Jaguars were not happy with, you know, what they had in their short yardage backs last season.
33:48And I don't really get the Bashaw Tootin hype.
33:51I hate to offend you, Matt, because I don't know if you're a Tootin guy, but I am not on the train.
33:59But is ADP falling to possibly six round? Again, comes to that point where I'm OK saying, OK, I'll start taking some
34:06chances on him if he continues to fall a little bit.
34:09Yeah, you can get Tootin. Tootin, like you said, I think on the board here, it's right at the 5-6 turn.
34:16He goes in the mid-sixth round at times. So he is definitely falling.
34:20At one point, it looked like he was rising.
34:23And then Chris Rodriguez came back. I am kind of a Tootin truther.
34:28I do think he is – I think the scenario here is they don't really know what they have in him.
34:35And I think he's going to get a shot.
34:38I do think Chris Rodriguez is involved regardless. And I draft him as well.
34:42His price is somewhere in the 11th round or sometimes early 12.
34:46And I will – you know, I'll hit that button every time.
34:50Yeah. But – and the thing with Rodriguez is he goes back to Cone with Kentucky.
34:55But I think this guy has got like seven receptions in the NFL and, you know, maybe 20 throughout college and everything.
35:02So he's not going to be catching passes. Yeah.
35:05Basial's Tootin – you know, I did like him in college though.
35:09He's a guy that does have the breakaway. He can break tackles and he has the speed.
35:15Yeah. Yeah. Well, that's the thing. And I think you hit it on the head where Tootin is going to get his opportunity to win this job.
35:24Right? I think that's really what it's going to come down to.
35:28I think the Jaguars are truly going to give both guys the chance to win this job.
35:33And it's going to be a matter of which guy steps up.
35:37Now, Tootin, I think physically definitely the more gifted player.
35:40I think with Rodriguez, you kind of know what you're getting.
35:44Is that sexy? No. But it's probably something that they feel comfortable that they can trust and they know what they're going to get probably on each play.
35:53It's not going to be a big play, but he's going to fall forward and get you yards.
35:59It kind of reminds me of Zach Charbonnet-Kenneth Walker's situation a little bit where Walker was always the flashy player.
36:06Right? He's the guy that kind of bounces back and maybe has some negative plays, but the pop plays are really, really nice.
36:13Whereas Zach Charbonnet, people are like, why is this guy in the field?
36:17And it's because the guy never loses yards. He might – he'll get you three yards.
36:23He might not get you ten yards, but he'll get you three, four yards, which is what they're looking for.
36:29And LaQuint Allen I think is a big factor here.
36:33He is injured. He did get – didn't play in the preseason game, so he did get the rest, which I think
36:40was a huge tell that they do want to rely on him in the passing game.
36:45But then in practice, like the next practice, he had a soft tissue injury and it sounds like he's out for the entire rest of preseason.
36:54So it's going to be a big opportunity for Tootin to step up and catch passes and earn more work in that role as well.
37:02Interesting note. I forget what I was listening to, but it was somebody – if I was listening to it, it was somebody that I like and respect.
37:11And they made a point that the Jags last year threw 11 passes total to running backs on third down.
37:17So it kind of makes that third down receiving role not that exciting, especially with the quarter receivers.
37:23You know what I'm saying? I mean, it was something that I heard and I was like, whoa.
37:29So, you know, something to think about. I think that is something to think about.
37:34I do want to ask you before we leave the fifth round, Travis Etienne was not a guy that I've been drafting a ton of.
37:42When I looked at Kamara, I just said, man, this guy is going to be involved.
37:48The drumbeat over this offseason since Kamara's came back hasn't been very positive for Travis Etienne.
37:53It sounds like they're very close in a split, though I still believe Travis would get the majority of the work of the two.
38:01But now Kamara is going to miss at least a month, and that could be possibly longer.
38:06He's an older player. It's not like this is a two-, three-year guy who maybe his body recovers a little faster.
38:13This is Alvin Kamara who's been in the league a long time, and I think he's approaching 30 if he's not already.
38:20And so Travis Etienne, his price point reflects, you know, fifth round, 54 overall.
38:25Do you expect Travis Etienne to go higher? Because when I started doing my rankings, now that I know Kamara is going
38:32to be out, I found myself putting Travis Etienne right ahead of Kyron and right behind Javante Williams.
38:38So it would push him into that fourth round.
38:41Are you comfortable taking Etienne that high, or is he somebody you've been avoiding?
38:46And is this something that might change your mind with the Kamara injury?
38:50I mean, going back to a very good point you made, earlier in the draft season, like last month, Etienne was living
38:57in the fourth round, or early fifth at the latest.
39:00Now he's fallen. I've actually used a player that I wasn't getting shares of that in the past week or two.
39:07Now I'm getting shares, because I've got him at 5'10", I think the 5'6 turn.
39:12And that's also a factor of playing in the NFFC.
39:15When these receivers, you know, just keep getting pushed up, or there's that avalanche, that whole third or fourth round is mostly wide receivers.
39:23The running backs are all going to fall to the fifth.
39:27So, you know what, it's not even really Kamara that, I think losing Tyson makes me like him even more, because, you
39:34know, I think he's going to catch more passes.
39:37I don't even think he's really that great of a pass catcher.
39:41But I do think, you know, I like the head coach a lot.
39:45I think he knows how to run an offense.
39:48He runs a high-tempo offense. Only thing in New Orleans that has me down is the Tyson injury, and Shuck seems to
39:55not be having a really good camp. Okay. Yeah, it's a good point.
40:00And, yeah, I mean, you're talking about loss of targets, a lot of loss of targets to Kamara that are going to
40:07be gone for a little while, and Tyson, who's going to miss two months.
40:12So those got to go somewhere. So it's a good point to bring up.
40:16Moving along here, let's talk about Jonathan Brooks, who his ADP has really, really risen.
40:21Now, in this format, I have seen in the FFPC, I think Theo Grevenger pointed out that Brooks went as high as, like, the fourth round.
40:30You know, I think that was a week ago.
40:33Now, format-wise, a little bit different than this format.
40:35And like you mentioned, wide receivers get pushed up the board.
40:39So I don't think we're probably, what, not likely to see that for Jonathan Brooks, him to get pushed up into that fourth round.
40:47But what do you think about his rise? And is this a price point that you're willing to take chances on as well?
40:54Like, if you look at the board here, he's at 6'5".
40:58He was pretty much living at 5'6 turn or just, you know, maybe the next pick.
41:03Usually, whoever had that one was going receivers and then maybe, like, taking, like, a Brooks for the upside shot.
41:10I think the game against the Bills maybe soured some people, which it actually did the opposite for me.
41:16I pretty much leave every draft, if possible, with either a share of Brooks or a share of Blake Corum, because I
41:23want that upside shot on one of these two guys.
41:27I have over 20 shares of each. And I watched that preseason game.
41:31Their offensive line was trash. I know they're missing a couple of guys.
41:35And to me, my whole bet on Brooks is, look, he was very talented.
41:40He didn't really even play that much at Texas.
41:43He got that year after Bijon, and he shined.
41:46But it's his pass-catching ability. And if this offensive line is going to be trash, and from what I remember, the last
41:53year or two, the Panthers could at least run the ball.
41:56They had good running games. Rico Dattle was going off and stuff.
42:00So the passing game is why I'm really all in on Jonathan Brooks and why I think he doesn't fail and actually
42:08is a guy you want on your roster. The quarterback last year had, what, three games where he threw for just over 200 yards?
42:15It was like 205 yards or more, like three times.
42:19Tett McMillan, uber talent, but the quarterback is not good.
42:22The line isn't good. They got to do the dump-off passes.
42:26And all you heard in the offseason is he wants him in the passing game.
42:31I'm watching clips every week of this kid catching passes, and not even just like dump-offs.
42:36He's even going down the field a bit. So I'm going to take a shot on that.
42:41We talk about it on the live streams about, say, building backwards.
42:45Say, like, I wait to the fifth round, hypothetically.
42:48I got DeAndre Swift. I take a Jonathan Brooks.
42:51And then I get my RB3 later on in, like, the eighth round.
42:55I get a Dobbins or a Mason. You know what I'm saying?
42:59I feel strong going in there. I got four wide receivers that are hopefully monsters, or at least three of them, you know?
43:07So, yeah, I'm all in on Brooks. As bleak as Carolina is, I think he's the silver lining.
43:13Okay. Let's take one more quick break. We'll come back.
43:16We're going to get through the next couple rounds.
43:19We're going to probably stop at probably top 100, and then I'll give you a chance to tell me about a player
43:26maybe going outside the top 100 that you are still grabbing value on right now.
43:31But let's take one more quick break, and we'll come right back.
43:35The NFFC, my favorite high-stakes fantasy platform. Why? Third-round reversal.
43:38Kentucky Derby draft slot allocation. So it's a lottery-based system where you can put in your preference where you want to draft.
43:46It's full PPR. There's three receivers. It's the best place to play fantasy football, especially for high stakes.
43:51And now that combined with the FFWC, they have a lot more contests to offer.
43:56In fact, they have a double crown bonus where you can join the NFFC primetime.
44:01And if you win that, $300,000, you can also join the Circo World Championship, and that's $200,000.
44:07You win both. You win a million dollars. So go to playnffc.com slash profiler and check the show description for a number of promo codes you can use.
44:16First time 100 to get $100 when you sign up.
44:19But also, every time you sign up for a new contest, we give you codes to use to get discounts on those entry fees as well.
44:28Thank you to the NFFC. They make our podcast network what it is.

45:24Compatibility and availability varies 18+. All right. We are back.
45:28Let's go ahead and move back a little bit more to Josh Downs, right?
45:32Recent news with Josh Downs. You have Keenan Allen now signed.
45:36Alec Pierce is... The news with Alec Pierce, Matt, it's all over the place.
45:40I don't know what the heck is going on with Alec Pierce.
45:44It's like, you know, I don't know if they're trying to cover themselves and Steichen's trying to just stay really, really positive
45:51because it feels like we're getting different reports all the time.
45:55He's still not in team drills, but he's moving around.
45:58He looks good. But then a couple days prior, you know, people are all gloom and doom.
46:04And now they go ahead and they sign Keenan Allen.
46:07And so, you know, you can believe it two separate ways.
46:11It's either they're not as comfortable as they thought with Josh Downs being in two wide receiver sets and they, you know,
46:18they gave him a chance in camp to earn that.
46:21And maybe they don't like what they've seen or, you know, they don't really love the timeline with Alec Pierce and they're trying to cover themselves.
46:30They probably, probably missed out on Stefan Diggs, Debo Samuel, those guys waiting this thing out.
46:35And now they bring in Keenan Allen and, you know, we'll see what happens.
46:40But Josh Downs going off the board at 71.
46:43Do you expect his price to move at all with the Keenan Allen news?
46:47Was he a guy that you were drafting at all?
46:50And does this news affect that in your opinion?
46:53Real quick, Alec Pierce. I haven't drafted him at all this year, but he is now.
46:59And I loved Alec Pierce last year. Fantasy, he was awesome.
47:02And I like to bet the receiving props, he was one of the best players in that all year.
47:08Yeah, longest catch kind of thing. Yeah, he would have 60 yards on the first drive.
47:14But now he's actually just talking about like how things change.
47:17As you mentioned, you brought that point up. So I want to piggyback on that.
47:22He started off in like the end of the fifth round, say, early on in draft season.
47:28Then he's been living like around that 6-7 turn.
47:31Now he's going into, he's falling into the eighth round.
47:34I'm starting to see in some drafts. And that's when I'm starting to get interested.
47:39Because even if he's going to come back and maybe say miss, even if he missed a month, even if they put
47:46him on Pup, and I can get a guy with, you know, his upside, then I start getting interested.
47:52But it's just funny. He was a guy that I wasn't going to pay up the fifth round.
47:58Didn't even like him really at the 6-7 turn.
48:01But, you know, he might become a guy that, hey, I'm going to get a couple of shares before the season's over.
48:08Yeah. And so with that note, has Josh Downs' price tag moved up to be too expensive for you?
48:15And do you think that we could get maybe a little bit of a pullback, like you talk about with stocks, a
48:22little bit of a pullback with Josh Downs and his price with the Keenan Allen news?
48:27Yeah. And again, just to be transparent, we talked about Parker Washington.
48:31Josh Downs is probably my second most owned receiver.
48:34So I'm rolling with, you know, a lot here.
48:37But I've been a Josh Downs believer for the last couple of years.
48:41And it just hasn't come to fruition. I believe in the talent.
48:45It's like in Moneyball when Jonah Hill does the thing.
48:48The problem with this guy. The problem with Josh Downs is just opportunity.
48:53When he plays two-thirds of the snaps, he crushes.
48:56And I do believe this year he's getting the opportunity, even with Keenan Allen.
49:00The thing I didn't get, and I think they really had no choice, and they brought Keenan Allen in because of the familiarity with the head coach.
49:09But they needed an ex-receiver to replace Alec Pierce for the time being.
49:13Like a Kayshawn Booty would have been a nice, but they traded all those picks in the source trade last year.
49:20Diggs is probably going to take a dip here.
49:23And I think he went in the last draft maybe like 7-4 or something like that.
49:28And I will buy that all the time. The other thing with Keenan Allen, look, he's going to be a pain in the ass.
49:36Let's not kid ourselves. But his first seven games last year, he was a house of fire.
49:42He had seven targets in every game. His next nine games, he had seven targets once.
49:47The last game of the regular season, he had 13 targets, seven catches for 36 yards.
49:52You know, I kind of think Father Time is catching up to Keenan.
49:57You know, he'll get open. He can get open in this short, intermediate area.
50:01But I think Downs is going to be playing all over the field.
50:05It's a bet I'm going to, you know, die on that hill.
50:09Kind of, you know, it might even be a financial one, but we'll see.
50:14Tell me, I want to selfishly talk about a running back situation.
50:18Get your thoughts. Because I don't know if I'm, you know, there are certain times where you get hyper tunnel vision on a player.
50:26And you just can't stop drafting him because of the price.
50:29For me, that's Rico Dowdle this year. I don't know if he's ever drafting at all.
50:35But Jalen Warren still goes, you know, a whole round ahead of him.
50:39And right now, you know, all reports that I've read is that Rico has looked phenomenal in camp.
50:45I personally think Rico is going to be the lead back here.
50:49I think both guys are going to catch a lot of passes.
50:53I think Rico is going to be a guy that will get a lot of people out there.
50:59I'm still kind of shocked that his price point is where it is.
51:03It's one of my favorite coaches on board. In the best ball format of $150 for NFC on the best ball championship.
51:10I've seen him slip, you know, into the 10th round.
51:13I saw RJ Harvey fall into the 10th round last night, which I know there's a lot of Jonah Coleman love out there right now, too.
51:22But staying on topic here with you and Rico Dowdle, are you a Rico guy?
51:27Because I've called up that down before I was not aware that you were a fan of those guys.
51:33Is Rico a guy that you are a fan of?
51:36I really don't have much Rico, I'll be honest with you.
51:40And it's really probably because I've taken like a Mason or a Dobbins there to be my RB3, you know.
51:46And now I got to get a tight end or add one more receiver or these.
51:52You want to know what it is, too. You just look at this ninth round like you're going around there.
51:58Sometimes you got to be a little aggressive. I know it says they all go in the ninth round, but some of
52:05these guys will go in the eighth. But like a Herbert, a Lawrence, a Daniels, a Williams.
52:11For me, I really have always been a Jalen Warren guy.
52:15But I think everything you said was right. It was every report I hear from everybody and the head coach had him
52:22in Dallas is that he's going to be the lead back.
52:25But it's PPR. Steel is running back about like 100 and something times last year.
52:30I don't know the exact number. Yeah, I think he had 80 on his own last year.
52:36Yes. So I think it was like a 114.
52:39I don't know if that was right. Yeah, it was some insane number.
52:43It was insane. So for me, third down is going to be Warren and he's still going to get all these dump off passes.
52:51Now, I don't have a lot of Warren either, and I've always been a Warren guy.
52:56So I'm really not drafting much Warren. I'm not drafting much Dowdle.
53:00But I do think Dowdle is like probably the last guy on the board to get, you know.
53:06Otherwise, you're just basically an RB2 land or you're going with like a Krosky bill.
53:11I'm not really super excited about this year, especially with the Tunsil news.
53:15And so Dowdle would be like that last line of defense for like, you know, having a starting running back or having
53:22a running back that's at least getting half the share of it.
53:26But I don't have it. But I think everything you said is correct based on all the reports I hear.
53:33So I think maybe both of them can, you know.
53:36Well, at their price point, look, the Pittsburgh Steelers are a really, really interesting team.
53:41It's a very easy team to stack if you like to play best ball.
53:46But really, the price points on the entire offense is dirt cheap.
53:50Mike McCarthy, I do believe that he's going to make this offense better.
53:54Their defense might regress, but they've been regressing. People don't really talk about it a ton, but their defense has regressed a little bit the last few years.
54:03But I overall think that there's just a there's some value.
54:07It's just a matter of picking the right guy here in this offense, even with Pittman and with DK.
54:13I don't find myself drafting either them too much.
54:16But if I am taking one, it tends to be Pittman for me.
54:20But looking at where Rico goes on the board, you know, I get it.
54:25You want to be aggressive and you look at where the quarterbacks.
54:29It's like you're staring at Jaden Daniels on the board.
54:32You don't have a quarterback. Are you taking Rico Dowdle when you've already got three running backs?
54:38It's hard, right? And so this is one of those situations where when you understand the room and you understand where the board is falling, right?
54:46You have to, you know, you just have to play the board and play the environment.
54:51That's why we all it's like it's like the old saying.
54:55Everybody's got to plan until they get punched in the mouth, right?
54:59Like same thing here. Like you have to be reactive a lot of times with the board.
55:04And when value falls, like I said, I mean, it's insane when you look at Jaden Daniels going at pick 100.
55:11But it's just the way this goes. People don't want to – the difference in points per game for the quarterback position is not very high.
55:20But it is crazy to me because the elite quarterbacks, Jaden Daniels could easily finish his quarterback too and give you a massive positional advantage.
55:28And he's still getting pushed down so far. And look, it's not even just the quarterbacks.
55:33Like if I have a RB2 or I've got my RB3 here, if I can get Sam – I mean, Howard Fanning, I would go probably first.
55:42But him or LaPorta? I mean, LaPorta to me is poised for a big year as well.
55:48I mean, they've got a last play schedule. I think that offense bounces back in a big way.
55:54So you got those two guys there. So it's like you're choosing between premium tight ends.
55:59I won't say the elites. We'll leave those for the guys up top.
56:03But I think these guys are pretty special. And I think Fanning has the ability at his age to be one of the best.
56:11But those guys, those quarterbacks, it's like – It's hard to pass up.
56:15I mean, are you really – like you sit there and you say, am I really going to sit here and take
56:22Jacoby Myers right now over possibly a guy that can win me weeks?
56:27Is Jacoby Myers really winning you weeks? Probably not.
56:30You want to laugh about Jacoby Myers? And then look, I think he's a solid NFL player.
56:35I made my bet – on the live stream yesterday with my partner, he mentioned Jacoby Myers.
56:41And I'm like, under no circumstances are we drafting Jacoby – it's not that I don't like the player.
56:47Yeah. You got a solid NFL. But I have all the Parker Washington.
56:51I even have BTJ. I'm like, I've made these bets on the Carolina offense.
56:56I don't want to root for this guy on one team.
56:59I'm sorry. It just – it makes no sense for me.
57:03It's like I'm betting against myself. I just can't do it.
57:07And look, you're in a tournament base. I mean, there is – you don't want to totally go upside and just take every risk possible.
57:15But, you know, sure, sometimes you need a little bit of floor.
57:19I get it. But I'm typically not drafting floor a ton in drafts, especially in tournaments.
57:24And so I totally, totally am with you there.
57:27And Sam Laporta is actually a guy that – I actually have Sam Laporta ranked as my number four tight end this year.
57:35So I love Sam Laporta. So I think it's a great call out too.
57:39I find myself drafting him a ton. Now, we're pretty much winding down here at the end of the show.
57:46So I do want to give you a chance to name one player just that you find yourself that we haven't talked about.
57:53It can be a player, you know, past the top 100.
57:57It can be a guy inside the top 100 that maybe you're higher on than other people or you're not really understanding
58:04why their ADP is so high or so low.
58:07And then I'll give you one of mine as well.
58:10I mean, for me, it's Harold Fanning. Well, I get the offense, the quarterback, and they drafted two hard receivers.
58:17But this kid went ballistic his senior year, what they call duck foot and all this.
58:22He's got duck feet. The guy at David Njoko last year, terrible quarterbacks, terrible offense, had an amazing rookie season, you know.
58:29And I just think he's, what, 21 years old?
58:32I think he only gets better. But again, like I said, there's other tight ends.
58:37Like if you're a Laporta guy, I want to have Laporta as well.
58:41So I can see that. But he would definitely be one of my guys that I just – I think it's a
58:49gift that you're getting here in that range. Yeah, and it goes back to when we talked in the beginning of the show, herd mentality.
58:57Like we don't want to just zig when others zag, right?
59:00I typically – my motto, I typically don't draft tight ends high.
59:04I don't draft quarterbacks high. The only time I do is when a guy slips past his ADP and it's an elite
59:12player and the value is just too hard to pass up and I'll take a chance on him.
59:17But this is an exact reason as to why you necessarily don't have to, right?
59:22I mean, you have guys that could be elite.
59:25I mean, make no mistake about it. Sam Laporta could be elite this year.
59:30Held Fanning could be elite this year. There are cases to be made and these quarterbacks around them could be elite this year.
59:37So it's like why spend that capital on those positions that feel like luxury picks and then you're chasing another position and
59:45you don't want to put yourself behind the eight ball?
59:48That's typically my strategy. I'm going to throw out one guy too and then we'll wrap things up.
59:54But Debo Samuel for me has been a guy that I really like his cost right now.
59:59You talk about there's not a lot of value.
60:02There's not a ton of players once you get past like, you know, the 10th, 11th round, 13th round.
60:09Debo Samuel right now goes off the board to pick 126.
60:12You know, he goes back to the 49ers from weeks one to 11 last year.
60:17He was wide receiver 16 in points per game.
60:20You know, he finds his home back in San Fran.
60:23He did talk a little bit about how his struggles going to Washington, how he just wasn't very happy there.
60:30And he understood that the grass isn't necessarily greener.
60:33He looks to be in really, really good shape.
60:36He's lean. And he also talked a little bit about how when he got that pneumonia, he put on some weight.
60:43And I think that was a major factor, right?
60:46I think he kind of he was in a bad spell, bad spot health wise.
60:51Then the trade rumors came up. He ends up getting traded because he couldn't stay healthy.
60:56And then now he finds his way back to the 49ers.
60:59We were drafting Ricky Pearsall. I was a major, major fan of Ricky Pearsall.
61:04I think you might be a stripling fan. So maybe you're not as high on Debo.
61:09But to me, it's like I'm getting a piece of the 49ers offense with a weapon that they know how to use
61:16in an offense that has a lot of guys that have issues staying healthy.
61:21I'm getting a guy that's in a possibly a top five offense this year at, you know, pick 126, who looked really,
61:28really good last year until he got banged up as well.
61:32Well, the crazy thing is stripling's now going pretty much, you know, seventh round, maybe sometimes in the eighth.
61:38But he's pretty much living in the seventh round.
61:41Strib City has has arrived, at least, you know, in the eyes of the high stake drafters that has.
61:47And the other thing is, you know, like who's remaining like Kittle.
61:51I was worried about, you know, 33 years old.
61:54I wasn't really drafted him early on, but I'm starting to draft him.
61:58He's looking good. And again, I was a big Ricky Pearsall guy.
62:02I was drafted him. You know, he was the guy that my fourth receiver, his price was so perfect.
62:09And, you know, he's gone. So Strib is like now he's been probably one of the biggest movers.
62:14It wasn't that long ago where he might have been going like just past Debo.
62:19So now people, people were made, people made fun of the pick so much.
62:24And now it's like people are playing catch up because they want to get exposure to him so badly because they saw,
62:31you know, the usage in the preseason. And it looked good.
62:35And honestly, that's why I was really harping on like the dates and the format that you use.
62:41If you're going to play best ball, you go to best ball for if you're going to play online championship.
62:47Because if you're doing a week or two, you're using stale prices.
62:51And, you know, you're going to be like, oh, God, this guy's off the board already.
62:56And all you really need is like eight to ten drafts.
63:00You really don't need more than that. Yeah. I guess if you're a degenerate like yourself, you know, you can't stop.
63:07Well said. It's all good. You scratch the itch and it becomes fun.
63:11But this was a good show. It was a lot of fun having you on.
63:16You're obviously going to be here with the Fantasy Empire.
63:19Love, love listening to your show in season. I think you guys.
63:23It's kind of one of those old school vibes where you guys, you know, it doesn't have to be a bunch of guys screaming at each other.
63:32I know there's all these exciting best ball shows with all these young guys.
63:37But you guys really, really break down the process well in season.
