Player insights

46

A.J. Brown

PositiveValue50:45

AJ Brown is acquired at the one-two turn in best-ball while available in the fifth round in dynasty, representing classic best-ball dynasty arbitrage; Alex Dunlap drafted Brown as the foundation of a post-apex veteran team designed to win.

Insight page

Aaron Rodgers

PositiveValue50:48

Aaron Rodgers is part of Alex Dunlap's post-apex veteran core in a startup dynasty best-ball team; Rodgers represents the type of aging, unsexy quarterback that Dunlap now targets as part of his winning team construction philosophy.

Insight page

AJ Barner

PositiveValue46:34

AJ Barker is positioned as a value in the Seahawks' consolidated target distribution; Alex Dunlap considers Barker a value pick alongside JSN and Rashid Shaheed in Seattle's offense.

Insight page

Alfred Morris

PositiveMatchup10:00

Alfred Morris averaged 5.0 yards per carry with RG3 due to the rushing quarterback's ability to freeze linebackers and create running lanes. This production boost from a rushing quarterback is called the Alfred Morris corollary and demonstrates how quarterback rushing ability indirectly elevates running back efficiency.

Insight page

Bucky Irving

NegativeValue37:28

Bucky Irving is presented as a "falling knife" alternative to Trey McBride at the 2–3 turn. His availability at a later ADP allows drafters to avoid the McBride grenade and instead target Irving, who offers better value and roster construction upside than reaching for McBride in round 2.

Insight page

Cade Otton

PositiveUsage43:24

Cade Otton will lose target share to Kenneth Gainwell, the satellite back brought in by the Buccaneers to expand their passing game; Gainwell's targets will come directly from Otton and Rachaad White.

Insight page

Carson Beck

NegativeRole33:34

The cold take that Carson Beck is better than Jacoby Brissett is dismissed as "not true at all." This suggests the quarterback situation in Arizona is not a major differentiator, and neither QB is expected to significantly elevate the passing game or target distribution.

Insight page

Chris Godwin

PositiveProjection42:18

Chris Godwin consolidates target share in the Buccaneers' pass-first offense; Alex Dunlap is bullish on Godwin despite limited time remaining on the roster, expecting target consolidation around Godwin and Egbuka as the primary receivers.

Insight page

Christian McCaffrey

PositiveRole45:53

Christian McCaffrey is a must-target player in the 49ers' consolidated, high-efficiency offense; the offense is so consolidated around McCaffrey that Alex Dunlap will draft him but not other receivers like Ricky Pearsall.

Insight page

Colston Loveland

NegativeValue37:17

Colston Loveland is presented as a value alternative to Trey McBride, going two to three rounds later than McBride. His later ADP allows drafters to avoid the opportunity cost of the McBride pick at the 2nd-round turn and instead target higher-impact players like D'Andre Swift or Bucky Irving at the 2–3 turn.

Insight page

D'Andre Swift

PositiveValue37:28

D'Andre Swift is cited as a higher-impact 2–3 turn target compared to Trey McBride. By avoiding the McBride grenade at picks 21–22, drafters can instead allocate that pick to Swift, improving overall roster construction.

Insight page

David Montgomery

PositiveValue42:54

David Montgomery is the most obvious example of organizational focus in the Texans' run-first offense; Alex Dunlap is bullish on Montgomery despite his lack of sex appeal, noting he can fall to the fifth round in some drafts and represents a core unsexy player in his winning basket of post-apex veterans.

Insight page

Drake Maye

PositiveProjection11:00

Drake Maye belongs in the elite rushing quarterback tier alongside Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Patrick Mahomes based on EPA metrics and on-field performance. The rushing quarterback archetype—where the threat of the run extends drives and creates scoring opportunities—is the easiest top-five quarterback list to construct once players are established in the league.

Insight page
NegativeProjection42:26

Drake Maye is mentioned as an example of a player who could be inserted into rankings in place of Lamar Jackson if one chooses to drop Jackson 2-4 spots due to age and reduced rushing, though the speaker does not endorse this approach.

Insight page

George Kittle

PositiveRole45:53

George Kittle is a must-target player in the 49ers' consolidated, high-efficiency offense; the offense is so consolidated around Kittle and McCaffrey that Alex Dunlap will draft both but not other receivers.

Insight page

J.K. Dobbins

PositiveValue48:29

JK Dobbins is part of Alex Dunlap's basket of unsexy post-apex players that he targets in drafts; despite not being sexy, Dobbins represents the type of value-oriented, non-aspirational player that Dunlap credits with winning fantasy leagues, contrasting with his earlier strategy of drafting only high-upside players.

Insight page

Jacoby Brissett

PositiveMatchup17:00

Jacoby Brissett's brief stint as Cardinals starter produced elite receiver output, particularly for Michael Wilson (18–19 PPR per game). This suggests Brissett is a more efficient passer for the Cardinals' receivers than Kyler Murray, though organizational commitment to other quarterbacks limits his role.

Insight page

Jalen Hurts

NegativeProjection46:18

Jalen Hurts is part of the Eagles offense, which Alex Dunlap classifies as a sub-25 implied team total offense where he can make a good argument for targeting one aspect over another, rather than drafting all players.

Insight page

Jayden Daniels

PositiveProjection11:00

Jaden Daniels remains a top-five EPA quarterback candidate based on metrics and on-field tape. The rushing quarterback archetype is the easiest to evaluate once established, and Daniels fits the profile of elite EPA producers alongside Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Patrick Mahomes.

Insight page

Jeremiyah Love

PositiveRole18:00

Jeremiah Love is expected to receive significant volume in the Cardinals' running game, which is shifting toward more ground-game focus. The offense is moving away from pass-heavy schemes, creating opportunity for Love as the featured back.

Insight page
PositiveRole33:42

Arizona's offensive shift includes increased focus on the running game with Jeremiah Love, signaling a move away from pass-heavy volume. This is cited as a headwind for pass catchers like McBride and Wilson, but Love's elevated role suggests he is a beneficiary of the team's strategic pivot.

Insight page

Josh Allen

PositiveProjection11:00

Josh Allen is a top-five EPA quarterback based on the rushing quarterback archetype. The elite EPA list for established quarterbacks is straightforward: Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Drake Maye, Jaden Daniels, and Patrick Mahomes.

Insight page

Kenneth Gainwell

PositiveUsage43:09

Kenneth Gainwell is a satellite back brought in by the Buccaneers to command extra target share in their pass-first offense; Gainwell will cannibalize targets from Rob Gronkowski, Cade Otton, and Rachaad White, not from Jalen Egbuka.

Insight page

Lamar Jackson

NegativeProjection4:00

NFL players poll ranked Lamar Jackson 69th overall, down from 2nd the prior year, despite his status as a perennial top-five EPA quarterback. The collapse reflects recency bias from his down rushing year (340 rushing yards vs. typical 800–850 range), coach worship following John Harbaugh's departure, and a desire for provocative content rather than sound evaluation. Metrics and on-field performance clearly support top-five status.

Insight page
NegativeProjection41:42

Lamar Jackson's aggregate ranking of 69 overall is viewed as artificially depressed due to recency bias and forgetfulness among rankers; despite being older and likely to run less, his continuity with Mark Andrews, Zay Flowers, and Derek Henry, plus an upgraded offensive coordinator, should support a drop of only 2-4 spots from his prior ranking, not the current market consensus.

Insight page

Mark Andrews

NegativeRole42:05

Mark Andrews is cited as part of Lamar Jackson's continuity in the Ravens offense, maintaining the core of the offense alongside Zay Flowers and Derek Henry.

Insight page

Marvin Harrison Jr.

NegativeRole18:00

Marvin Harrison Jr. remains the Cardinals' alpha receiver with organizational commitment, but faces headwinds from increased running game focus (Jeremiah Love), potential quarterback uncertainty (Carson Beck), and Michael Wilson's demonstrated elite production when given volume. The offense is expected to be lower-volume in the passing game overall.

Insight page
NegativeRole33:38

The cold take that Marvin Harrison Jr. is the "clear alpha" is dismissed as not true at all. His return to Arizona is cited as one of the headwinds affecting the team's passing volume and target distribution, but no specific projection or role change is detailed beyond his presence reducing overall passing volume.

Insight page

Matthew Stafford

PositiveValue50:48

Matthew Stafford is part of Alex Dunlap's post-apex veteran core in a startup dynasty best-ball team; Stafford represents the type of unsexy, aging quarterback that Dunlap now targets after shifting away from pure upside-focused drafting.

Insight page

Michael Wilson

PositiveValue17:00

Michael Wilson is undervalued in fantasy despite strong production splits. When Jacoby Brissett started, Wilson averaged 18–19 PPR points per game, tripling his fantasy output compared to periods with Kyler Murray. Even after Marvin Harrison Jr. returned, Wilson's production remained elite, suggesting organizational commitment to both receivers. Fantasy analysts unfairly dismiss Wilson as worthless, while NFL scouts view him as a solid player. The Cardinals' focus on the running game with Jeremiah Love and potential quarterback uncertainty (Carson Beck) create headwinds, but Wilson's demonstrated production warrants consideration.

Insight page
NegativeBust33:38

The consensus take that Michael Wilson is "worthless" is dismissed as a cold take, but Alex Dunlap argues the real issue is that Wilson only produced for half a season last year, making him vulnerable to a target squeeze as McBride remains the primary recipient. Despite the breakout, Wilson's one-season sample and the team's shift toward the running game with Jeremiah Love create downside risk that justifies avoiding him at any ADP.

Insight page

Mike Evans

PositiveValue49:49

Mike Evans consolidates target share in the Buccaneers' pass-first offense; Alex Dunlap drafted Evans in a startup dynasty best-ball arbitrage league, pairing him with Chris Godwin as part of a post-apex veteran core designed to win.

Insight page

Nico Collins

NegativeUsage42:43

Alex Dunlap warns against being overweight on Nico Collins given the Texans' acquisition of David Montgomery, which signals organizational commitment to the running game and contradicts bullish receiver positioning; being out ahead on Collins goes against the team's public offseason messaging.

Insight page

Patrick Mahomes

PositiveProjection10:00

Patrick Mahomes exemplifies the rushing quarterback archetype that produces elite EPA. Though not known primarily as a runner, Mahomes' ability to extend plays outside the pocket—sometimes throwing, sometimes running—creates first downs and scoring opportunities. The threat of the run is nearly as important as the run itself, a principle called the Alfred Morris corollary.

Insight page

Rachaad White

PositiveUsage43:24

Rachaad White will lose target share to Kenneth Gainwell, the satellite back brought in by the Buccaneers; Gainwell's targets will cannibalize from White and Cade Otton as the team shifts to a pass-first identity.

Insight page

Rashid Shaheed

PositiveSleeper47:15

Rashid Shaheed is a buy based on four key dynamics: positive buzz around route tree expansion, historical efficiency as a receiver, consolidated target distribution in Seattle's offense with limited route-running competition, and organizational commitment evidenced by significant contract investment; Alex Dunlap notes Shaheed has received positive buzz but hasn't been fully accounted for in his cheat sheet.

Insight page

Ricky Pearsall

PositiveValue46:00

Ricky Pearsall is the one San Francisco receiver that Alex Dunlap will not draft in the 49ers' consolidated, high-efficiency offense; Pearsall is excluded from Dunlap's target list due to the team's focus on McCaffrey and Kittle.

Insight page

Trey McBride

PositiveValue20:00

Trey McBride is immune to Cardinals offensive headwinds (lower passing volume, Jeremiah Love focus, quarterback uncertainty with Carson Beck) because of his multi-year track record of production and organizational commitment. Despite all these headwinds, McBride should be drafted as the tight end to target.

Insight page
NegativeBust33:28

Despite Arizona's systemic headwinds—lower passing volume, increased running game focus with Jeremiah Love, Michael Wilson's breakout, and Marvin Harrison Jr.'s return—McBride is being drafted as the tight end to target. However, Alex Dunlap argues this is a "grenade" pick at the 2nd-round turn (picks 21–22), where opportunity cost is "giant." McBride could finish outside the top five tight ends in this offense, making him a bust risk at his ADP despite his multi-season track record of production.

Insight page
PositiveValue40:48

Alex Dunlap has minimal exposure to Trey McBride in his draft strategy, positioning him as significantly less valuable than Zay Flowers; recommends quadruple exposure to Zay Flowers relative to McBride, indicating McBride is not a priority target.

Insight page

Tyler Warren

PositiveValue37:06

Tyler Warren is positioned as a superior alternative to Trey McBride at tight end. He is available in the sixth round of home leagues and is described as "about to get peppered," suggesting high target volume upside. His late-round availability makes him a better value than McBride at the 2nd-round turn, avoiding the opportunity cost of reaching for McBride.

Insight page

Xavier Worthy

PositiveBreakout33:00

Alex Dunlap highlights Xavier Worthy as a breakout candidate worth promoting, particularly leveraging the Texas player connection to reach college football audiences transitioning to fantasy.

Insight page

Zay Flowers

PositiveBreakout12:00

Zay Flowers is a strong target in 2025 given Ravens offensive improvements. The Ravens ranked second-to-last in pass rate over expectation (PROE) last year and third-worst in seconds per play (30.6 vs. 27.1 under Kellen Moore). New offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, a Sean Payton understudy hired by Ben Johnson, is expected to increase tempo and pace, benefiting Flowers' volume and efficiency. This represents a significant offensive upgrade.

Insight page
NegativeProjection38:37

Zay Flowers is positioned as a contrasting success story to Trey McBride's grenade status. While McBride is a bust risk despite his track record, Flowers is framed as a winner deserving of recognition, suggesting he is a preferred target at his ADP or a breakout candidate relative to expectations.

Insight page
PositiveProjection39:03

After comprehensive analysis of Zay Flowers' role in the Ravens offense, Alex Dunlap concludes that consuming all available information positions fantasy players to be ahead on Zay Flowers for the rest of the offseason, indicating strong conviction in his fantasy outlook.

Insight page
PositiveValue39:03

Alex Dunlap projects Zay Flowers at 15.6 PPR points in version 2.2 of his cheat sheet, nearly double the 8.25% exposure a player would normally receive in a 12-team league; recommends quadruple exposure to Zay Flowers relative to Trey McBride, positioning him as a standout value target for the summer.

0:00This is Content Kings. I'm here with Alex Dunlap.
0:03We are doing a quick rapid fire show. We're just throwing the mics on.
0:07We're throwing the camera on. We're talking content for 45 minutes because the people want it.
0:12We've got family obligations. Alex has a fishing trip with his son.
0:15I've got to cut flowers with my daughter. I mean, it's right out of like a country western song, what we're going to be doing this afternoon.
0:24How could it be any more wholesome than that, right?
0:27It can't be. It can't be. I mean, yeah, this might be an Alan Jackson song that we're about to do this afternoon.
0:34You're literally taking time to stop and smell the roses with your daughter during this time and her growth.
0:39We could sit down with some people in Nashville and write a song on this easily.
0:44And you know this because Alex was the baby.
0:47He was an asist for Alpha Rev, which had a recording contract and they had some big songs.
0:52And some people just don't know that it's always I always like to make sure I remind people of this.
0:59This is like it the the girl she's cutting flowers with her dad was a drummer for the Lemonheads.
1:04How about that? Really? Yeah. Wow. That's a that's a much better claim to fame.
1:09My gosh, David Ryan. Absolutely. Is he still rich from that?
1:12Because the Lemonheads came up at a time when you can make a lot more money because you were actually selling actual
1:19CDs right to where you know those guys man late the late 90s guys got the blast of the very, very, you
1:26know, high paying jobs doing this before all the money started to go to go through publishing.
1:31I haven't asked him much money's in his bank account.
1:34Now that you reminded me, I'll ask him. I never thought about it, but I should I should ask him.
1:40And the the only caveat there is their biggest song they don't get the writing credit for.
1:45Well, why was what's their biggest song? Was it a cover cover of Mrs.
1:49Robinson? Oh, right, right, right. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. So yeah, I have a little bit of I have a little bit of
1:56knowledge on the on the on the publishing side and and what are we talking football football what's happening?
2:02What ball? We can't believe I every time I can't be trusted.
2:05I can't be trusted with a with a timeframe.
2:08You can't give me 45 minutes. I'm going to waste it.
2:11I'm going to I'm going to squander it every single time.
2:15It is it is my Achilles heel. Everybody knows that is my content Achilles heel.
2:19I'm a content king with an Achilles heel. And my first question I want to ask is about NFL content sports content
2:26versus fantasy specific content is my wife comes home and there's a water cooler conversation.
2:31And she's asking me she's like, hey, there was a football related water cooler conversation.
2:35And if you could give me a little information about this situation, then next time I go in and have and talk
2:42to these guys, I'll be able to sound more informed.
2:45And I was like, Well, what was it? She's like, well, Lamar Jackson, I guess he fell from two to 69.
2:51She's that's all I know. And I was so befuddled and dumbfounded.
2:55I had no idea what she was talking about, because in no world is Lamar Jackson ranked 69 and anything.
3:01So I'm like, it can't be a ranking of any kind.
3:04I was like, I guess it could be like a single quarterback ranking.
3:08But there's no way that that's it. He was never ranked number two in single quarterbacks.
3:13And and there's and there's no way that people around your wife's water cooler are talking about Lamar Jackson's plummeting ADP, even if that were a thing.
3:21You know what I mean? It's not but it wouldn't be like, yeah, his underdog ADP.
3:26No, that's not. Yeah, that wasn't a possibility. So I was like, did he change his number?
3:31It was like a joke. He's gonna go from two to 69.
3:35But I think it was number eight. But was he was he number two at Louisville?
3:40I don't remember. He's certainly he's certainly number eight now.
3:43Yeah, he's number eight now. But I remember maybe his number two at Louisville.
3:47I think he's number eight. I don't know. Like, I mean, you just picture him in your head.
3:52He wears number eight. Yeah, I know. He's number eight.
3:55He's been number eight. So I was like, listen, I don't know.
3:59I have no idea. And then my daughter's like, Dad, you haven't heard.
4:03And I was like, what? No, I haven't heard.
4:06We were we were we're, you know, in the Starbucks drive through to get to, you know, a dragon fruit refresher or some shadow.
4:13Even understand what the hell these drinks are anymore.
4:16No idea. It's probably like loaded with caffeine. And I'm completely oblivious.
4:19So I'm like, I know. He's like, Dad, the NFL just released ranking 60 through 69.
4:24And they had Lamar Jackson ranked at 69. And last year, he was ranked number two.
4:29And there's it's causing a lot of controversy on social media.
4:33And I was like, oh, contraire, mon frere. Well, that is interesting.
4:36I did not know that I I was checked by my daughter on a football take and football content basically trolling by the NFL.
4:43But it's really not the NFL. It's a poll of the players.
4:47It's a players only poll. Somehow, someway, Lamar Jackson, perennial top five EPA player in the NFL falls from two to 69 inexplicably.
4:54Well, it isn't an explicit. I can explain it.
4:57We can talk about it. I think we know why it's called recency bias.
5:01It's called hot take culture. It's called coach worship.
5:04But it's probably the reason like, oh, they lost their coach and he had a down season and it feels fun and
5:10fresh to rank a guy much lower than he was ranked last year.
5:14And then we can come out with that. And then all of a sudden, everyone's talking about it.
5:20And that's what they're talking about. That's what they're talking about, the water cooler.
5:24So props to the NFL for doing their job.
5:27That's what they're supposed to do. They're getting attention.
5:30They're creating conversations. So props to them. How do you feel about this Lamar Jackson ranking amongst his peers falling from two to 69?
5:37I mean, well, look, I wasn't even aware. I don't pay that much attention to it.
5:42Like you didn't know either. So I'm not an idiot.
5:45That's the kind of list that whenever like I'm surprised that your wife and daughter, like because I feel like I'm on
5:51social media quite a bit and taking in NFL content.
5:54I hadn't seen that though. And generally those lists, I don't really keep up with them.
5:59If there's like, that definitely is an interesting thing though, if that's true, I have a hard time believing that it's true.
6:06You know what I mean? I have a hard time believing that it's true.
6:10It almost feels like it's some kind of fake thing.
6:13I looked it up. Yeah. Well, any explanation I come up with would be like, it would have to do just with the down year last year.
6:21And just like, if you consider, you know, Lamar Jackson's a guy who I guess NFL players are always like, dude, he
6:28needs to rush for 800, 850 yards every single year.
6:31Last year, I think he was at 340 something rushing yards.
6:34It was a, it was an odd year. It was a, it was a, it was a down year for Lamar Jackson last year.
6:42It was like, who doesn't have down years? I, I, I, I understand, but just like, let me put it this way.
6:48My wife plays in one fantasy league, right. At every single year.
6:52And I help her with it. And she's not very engaged with NFL at all.
6:57She's a total college football chick, right? She, she doesn't really watch much NFL and I help her with her fantasy stuff.
7:03And she's just like, you'd be amazed at the way she's like, who are these bozos Lamar Jackson and Justin Jefferson?
7:10You know what I mean? She just, she just, they suck.
7:13I'm just, I'm just like, well, you don't get it.
7:16Like this is like, this is really weird circumstances this year.
7:19She's like, why did you make me draft these dirt balls?
7:23You know, here I'm here. I'm sleeping on the couch, you know, I was going to say, you're, you're, that's, that's a
7:29ticket to the couch right there to say something like that.
7:33You don't get it. Lady, you don't get it.
7:35Let me, let me, let me, let me teach you.
7:39Let me, let me coach you up on this.
7:41And she'd be like, coach me all the way up into last place in my league.
7:46Sure. Right. Please, Alex mansplain this to me. Yeah.
7:49So I, but I, I wouldn't expect NFL players to have that same level of recency bias.
7:54Right. I would expect them to say like, dude, that dude, that's, that's, that's Lamar Jackson.
7:59And you were saying like, he's top five on any list that you could ever imagine.
8:04And to that, I would say, well, it's just about, do they consider it?
8:08Like, because if you consider like the value on the football field, of course, like I think you and I both agree,
8:15it's going to be a quarterback and optimally it's going to, it's going to be a rushing quarterback.
8:20It's, you know, Josh Allen's going to be up there.
8:23You figure Lamar Jackson's going to be up there at this point.
8:27You got to consider the fact that Drake may, might need to be, is that too much projection?
8:32I'm not sure the NFL players are giving him credit yet for who he might become.
8:37Think about what you're doing right now. We're arguing.
8:40Okay. We know because the metrics tell the truth.
8:43Your eyes also tell you something. And that's the beauty of the quarterback position.
8:47The quarterback position is it's counterintuitive that it's both the most complicated position to scout college prospects.
8:52Oh yeah. And, and, and how they're going to transition to the NFL.
8:56It's the most difficult position to play in all of sports.
8:59And yet once these guys get established in the league, it is the easiest position to evaluate.
9:04It's the position where your eyes and the metrics are most closely aligned.
9:08You're like, oh yeah. Like, like he's, he's got it.
9:11Yeah, exactly. When you watch football, even just the red zone channel and you're like, that's a good quarterback.
9:17That's a bad quarterback. Almost every time you're going to be right.
9:21Like it's going to align right with the metrics because there's just, it's just at that point, it's self-evident within five minutes.
9:27That's ex post facto, dude. It's like that that's after that's after they've arrived that you can realize that that's not projecting that they're going to finally arrive.
9:36Well, that's what this list is. Right. No, no, no.
9:39That's the beauty of this list. This list is actually a pretty easy list to put together.
9:44If you're in the league, it should be the fact that these NFL players are so incompetent and they can't see what's right in front of their face.
9:53The most obvious thing, the numbers tell you the story.
9:56What's on the television screen tells you the story.
9:58If you have eyes, you know, Lamar Jackson's top five player in the NFL.
10:03Even if you don't have eyes, we can give you player profiler in braille and you'll know that Lamar Jackson is a top five quarterback in the NFL.
10:11I'll just give you a braille list of EPA because with quarterbacks that run the ball, it's obvious.
10:17It's just watch even Patrick Mahomes, not known as a Russian quarterback.
10:20But when you watch Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs, drives get extended.
10:24Touchdowns get scored. How Patrick Mahomes getting loose outside the pocket, putting defenses in an impossible situation, sometimes throwing, sometimes running, but either way getting a first down.
10:32And it's the threat of the run that's almost just as important as the running itself.
10:37It's called the Alfred Morris corollary. We coined this term a decade ago at player profiler.
10:42How does Alfred Morris is a 5.0 yards per carry week in, week out, year in, year out with RG3.
10:48It's because RG3 is freezing linebackers and giving him that extra crease to go from four yards to five yards on each and every carry.
10:56And then when RG3 decides to run, he can run and dive for the pylon and get a touchdown.
11:02And that helps the team. That increases their points scored, expected points added.
11:05That's what EPA stands for. And when RG3 is at the peak of his powers, he's a top five EPA quarterback in the league.
11:13And when you look around, it's a very easy list to put together just based on that one metric.
11:19It's Josh Allen. It's Lamar Jackson. Now it's Drake May.
11:22I'm still in on Jaden Daniels. Of course you're in on Jaden Daniels.
11:26The numbers dictate it and your eyes tell you this.
11:29And of course, Mahomes is there too. And Mahomes.
11:31It's like the easiest top five list to put together in all of sports.
11:36Once they're in the league, they've been established and their resume and their statistical history has been created.
11:41And we have them on tape. It's a very easy list to put together.
11:45That's why it's embarrassing that an NFL player would rank Lamar Jackson at 69.
11:49And that's only half of the NFL players had him at 69 or above.
11:54The other half had him outside of 69. What?
11:56That's the average. It's weird because it's like, you know, they're not looking at like PROE or anything like that for the Ravens last year.
12:04Like they're just like, they're not looking into the, because if you look at it and this kind of goes into why
12:11I think, why I think you, you and I were talking on the phone the other day.
12:16And you were talking about how you're really in on Zay Flowers as your guy this year.
12:21Yes. And I got to, you know, I got to looking at it.
12:25It's like, dude, I mean, if you look at like the pass rate over expectation last year for the Ravens, they were
12:32second to last in the league behind only the, or in front of only the Jets.
12:37Right? And then so there's a terrible pass rate over expectation.
12:40And then it also, if you just look at the set at the seconds per play, they were sitting at 30.6 seconds per play.
12:47If you look at sharp football, that was third.
12:50That was third worst in the whole league behind only the, the dolphins and the, and the bills.
12:55So you have the very top, like the big Kellen Moore stuff, 27.1 seconds per play.
13:00That doesn't sound like a lot, but dude, over the course of the game, that means a whole lot as far as
13:07volume, as far as, you know, just total number of plays.
13:10Like, it's like the offense was in a weird spot last year.
13:14And that's, that's why I'm big on the whole Declan Doyle thing too.
13:18I mean, I just, I think that a guy that has just come up under, come up under Sean Payton, who's known
13:24for, you know, tempo and timing and stuff like this, who then got one, you know, just had this rocket ship 29
13:31year old guy, the rocket ship career where he goes right from just being a Sean Payton understudy, goes right through that
13:38to where Ben Johnson wants to hire him as his, his, his offensive coordinator.
13:42He wants to play fast to the, like, I think that that's going to be really good for the whole Ravens, Ravens offense.
13:49I know people worry that he's so young and what's Lamar Jackson going to think about being coached by some kind of 29 year old guy.
13:57But I think if Lamar Jackson's into it, I think it's going to be good for him.
14:02I think it's going to be good for Zay.
14:05I just, I, I just, I don't understand. And, you know, I guess I kind of, I kind of got us off
14:11the point there a little bit, but I just, I'm trying to think of reasons why these NFL guys would have, would
14:18have voted him so low, but I don't think that they're looking at those kinds of advanced stats.
14:24It's 80% recency bias. It's just pure cognitive bias at it, at its, at its most ridiculous.
14:29I think there is some coach worship in there.
14:32There's absolutely coach centric analysis. They lost John Harbaugh.
14:34What are they going to do? Well, actually Declan Doyle could be an upgrade.
14:39So that's, that shouldn't be a factor at all.
14:41In fact, me and you people that actually understand these things, we've been digging into a handful of offensive coordinators that are
14:48new this year could actually move the needle for their teams.
14:51And Declan Doyle is one of those guys. And then the other, the other was just a desire to change it up, a desire to be provocative.
14:59Those are the, those are the three drivers of the Lamar Jackson collapse from two to 69.
15:05That's that, that, that's how the sausage is made.
15:07That's content though. That's content. That's getting people having conversations.
15:10And it's interesting to note that if you have a strong position, that's just based on a particular team or some NFL
15:17phenomenon that's outside of fantasy football, you are going to get more reach.
15:21You are going to be able to get your content in front of more people.
15:26This is very much a content show behind the scenes, producing content, what it's all about.
15:30You fantasy football business one-on-one. And this year, one of my initiatives is to put together more pure football takes to help
15:37to get more people interested in what's going on at player profiler.
15:41And then inevitably many of them also play fantasy football and they can find our fantasy football content in our fantasy football tools.
15:48These are always looking for creative ways to grow.
15:50And it's an interesting question, which is what is the optimal balance of fantasy specific content versus just general NFL content?
15:57Well, I think that there's like, I, it's, it's, it's funny.
16:00You wanted to talk about this because I feel like it's something that I've been, you know, I've been having to do for, do for years.
16:08Well, because here's the thing, like, I don't just cover fantasy football.
16:12I own a fantasy football website. Right. And we talk about it.
16:15Like I own roster watch, but you know, and we have the radio show and we have the podcast and we have
16:22the whole, you know, the whole everything, right? Website tools, like all, all, all that stuff.
16:27But I also hold that thought. Speaking of tools.
16:30Yeah. Let me show you something. Speaking of Zay flowers and tools.
16:33You ready for this? Yeah. I am unveiling for you here.
16:37Maybe the first time you've seen it, the fantasy points leaderboard on player profiler.
16:41It's a completely free tool. And I filtered for wide receivers from week 10 to 18.
16:46This is when we had no Lamar Jackson for a swath of games.
16:50And when Lamar Jackson was playing, he was not a hundred percent.
16:53And yet look at who is in the top eight wide receivers during that period.
16:58Look who's in the top three, man. Which one of these is not like the other?
17:03Golly. I mean, don't say it. I mean, say it.
17:06Go ahead and say it. Say it. Don't say it, but say it.
17:10No, I don't. I mean, I can't believe he's anyone's drafting this guy.
17:14I just add fantasy underscore mansion on Twitter. I just posted this.
17:17I posted this just before we went live, just before we started recording.
17:21I can't even believe Michael Wilson's being drafted right now.
17:24Whoa. The amount of hate on this man, the amount of disparagement on his name, especially in fantasy sports circles.
17:30I mean, this is one of those differences where if you want to start leaning into NFL content and just talk NFL
17:37with NFL fans, and if you start blending some of your fantasy takes into that, you're going to sound nonsensical.
17:43Like the NFL football fan thinks Michael Wilson's a pretty solid player and they would be right.
17:48But every NFL fantasy analyst is telling their audience, never draft Michael Wilson.
17:52Cross him off your list. He's completely worthless. As long as Marvin Harrison Jr.
17:56is on the field, Michael Wilson will never catch a pass.
18:00I think what people in the fantasy community are worried about is one, the fact that even after, and it's like if
18:06you look at his splits with Jacoby Bursette, they are insane.
18:10The guy averaged, I think he averages like between 18 and 19 PPR points per game.
18:15It's like a difference of, he's like, he triples his fantasy output.
18:18Sure. But the thing is, it was like even after those games, whenever Marv was out and then Marv comes back and you're like, oh, it doesn't matter.
18:27They got this thing going with Michael Wilson. It's like Marv comes back and it's like, it feels like there's just a
18:33system-wide like initiative there to say like, no, we, we have to give the targets to Marv.
18:39You know, it's like, we can't just ever let this guy overtake him and be the wide receiver one.
18:44Even though he's looked like, even though like whenever he gets the targets, he's, he's clearly, he looks clearly awesome.
18:50I hate to say he looks better than Marvin Harrison, but just on an objective level.
18:55If you just look at the stats and like, you just say like, well, it's like, look at one, look at the
19:02other, which like no name attached to him. Which one would you rather have?
19:06They had an offense that was Marv focused. Yeah.
19:09For more than a year. And he never put up the numbers Michael Wilson did.
19:13But when it was Michael Wilson focused, they, they won what one, one football game with, which Kobe Brissett.
19:19So it's like, I mean, I, I mean, I just, I think that there's just a organizational thing there where it's like, they have a commitment to Marv.
19:28Probably going to have a commitment to Jeremiah Love in the same way, which would, you know, would be good, good for
19:34him as far as his, his fantasy stuff. But the other thing is, I just, I think what people worry about the
19:41most is that there was a little bit of a, there was a little bit of a clash about what Kobe Brissett
19:48was going to get paid this year and all the rest of it.
19:52They draft Carson Beck. They're probably going to, they're probably going to want to take a quarterback next year.
19:57They might want to tank. They could see, let's what we have in Carson Beck.
20:02If this is Carson Beck having to throw the ball to any of these guys, I'm, I'm extremely, extremely worried.
20:08Thank you for saying that, by the way, that there are the coldest takes in all of fantasy surrounding the Cardinals.
20:14I'm hearing Carson Beck's better than Brissett. Not true at all.
20:18And I'm hearing that Marvin Harrison Jr. is the clear alpha and Michael Wilson's worthless.
20:22Not true at all. And that yet, in spite of all this, a lower volume offense, especially in the passing game, more
20:29focus on the running game with Jeremiah Love, the, the breakout of Michael Wilson last year, Marvin Harrison Jr.'s return.
20:35In spite of all this, all these headwinds don't matter.
20:38Draft Trey McBride as the tight end to tight.
20:41So let me get this straight. Yeah. You have all these headwinds affecting the team, but Trey McBride is immune because he's done it for multiple seasons.
20:49Trey McBride's immune, but because he's done it for multiple seasons, but because Michael Wilson only did it for half a season.
20:56Uh, he's, uh, he's going to be the, the primary recipient of the target squeeze.
21:00Yeah. And so, and so how about this? We're so worried about it being a complete systemic failure there, there in Arizona.
21:07We're so worried about, but, but, but, but draft McBride, but, but, but go ahead and draft McBride though.
21:13But what we're going to tell you to go ahead and do is go ahead and go, go, go, go ahead and
21:19take the Cardinal with the sec with the second highest ADP of all of them who plays a onesie position.
21:25Um, and, and go, and go ahead and do it at the point in your draft where you can just drop a
21:32grenade on it right around pick 21, 22 there at the end of the second round where the opportunity cost is giant.
21:39It's just giant. In fact, I, I, for the, for the YouTube thumbnail, I, I, I figured we would, you know, have a Zay flowers thumbnail.
21:47Uh, but no, actually, no, I think we're going to do, we're going to do Trey McBride with a grenade.
21:53Trey McBride is Trey McBride is the ultimate fantasy grenade.
21:56He's absolutely a grenade. He could finish outside the top five tight ends.
22:00This is a truly awful situation for everyone. Like if you're, if you're going to, if you're going to tell, if you're
22:06going to tell people don't draft Michael Wilson at any ADP, but continue to pound, just, just pound away.
22:12At Trey McBride at the two, three turn. I, I question your process.
22:16Yeah. Yeah, dude. Me, me too. Especially when you can get like, you know, like the, the Colts still, the Colts still
22:23haven't done any, the Colts still haven't done anything, man.
22:26Tyler Warren is about to get Tyler Warren's about to just get peppered here and you can get him in the, you
22:33can sometimes get him in the sixth round of some of these home leagues.
22:37It's like, I mean, are you kidding me? You got Colston Loveland right there.
22:41He goes two, two, three rounds later. And that gets to the point where you're like, you're not having to pass on,
22:48you know, like some of these two, three turn guys.
22:51You're at that point, you're having to pass on like Fiondre Swift or, you know, like some kind of falling knife and
22:57Bucky Irving or, you know what I mean? It's like, that to me feels a lot better as far as if you're just looking at overall roster construction.
23:06It's hard to beat a Bucky Irving falling knife image, but the one image I think is better is Trey McBride with a grenade.
23:13I think Trey McBride with a grenade, it doesn't get any better.
23:17And then what would we have? Zay Flowers would have to be like, maybe just would give Zay his flowers.
23:23Yeah. He could say it. Like you could, we could have Zay Flowers like on the top of a podium with flowers
23:30and gold medals and all those things. I think that'd be a fun image.
23:34We could, we could, we could get, we could fire up chat GPT or Gemini to generate that image.
23:40Yeah. Yeah. That'd be a, that'd be a fun one.
23:43Yeah. So officially I just want to make sure we, we, we, we wrap this particular position up.
23:48Zay flowers. You are now officially now that you've consumed everything you need to consume around Zay flowers.
23:54You've looked at it from every angle, including this brand new fancy fantasy point leaderboard on player profiler.com.
23:59You're going to be out ahead on Zay flowers the rest of the summer.
24:03Correct. I'm getting, yeah. I mean, in the, in the, where, where I have him on the current cheat sheets, I think
24:10I don't have my exact, I think I have like a, I think with my last run to version 2.2 on PPR,
24:17I was getting like 15 points, 15.6%. I could probably get even a little bit higher up over that.
24:22I mean, you would expect to be somewhere between eight, you know, just getting him a normal amount of the time would be what?
24:30Eight point. What is it? 8.25%. So in a, in a 12 team league.
24:34So I'm, I'm, I'm up like almost double the usual exposure.
24:37So I think, yeah, I think I'll probably, I'll probably stay, stay ahead on him.
24:42I think the one thing that comes in, if I just look at the actual structure here, your exposure to Zay flowers
24:48should be quadruple your exposure to Trey McBride. I don't, I don't, I don't have hardly any exposure to, to, to, to Trey McBride.
24:56He's undraftable. I'm not saying he's undraftable. There's a cognitive dissonance around some players, especially players that have had multiple seasons.
25:02But the thing is though, like with Lamar Jackson, you can't have a down season.
25:07If you're coming off two consecutive productive seasons, fantasy gamers will just pencil you in.
25:11It doesn't matter what the situational headwinds are. They will just pencil you in.
25:15But even, but fantasy gamers also are, are, are a little bit down on Lamar Jackson this year because everybody is susceptible to this, this recency bias.
25:24Lamar Jackson has continuity, right? There's Mark Andrews, Zay flowers is top Derek Henry.
25:28The core of the offense has been maintained. You could argue they've upgraded the offensive coordinator.
25:33And so if you want to drop him because you know, he's a little bit older and he's probably going to run a little bit less.
25:41And drop him from two to four in your overall player rankings for the league fair.
25:46You want to put Drake may in there. You want to, that's fine to 69.
25:50No, it's just 69. It doesn't make sense. That, that is just that.
25:54I, I, I don't understand how that happened. I mean, we, we, we listed the three main reasons, uh, how it happened,
26:01but I still at a granular level would love to interview some of the players that ranked him like outside the top
26:0780 for him to be number 69 at an aggregate ranking.
26:11That means some people left him out of their top 100 altogether.
26:14Yeah. They just like, like, they're like, Oh yeah.
26:17I just forgot about Lamar. I just, I guess I forgot about maybe that's also part of what it is.
26:23It's also that part of it is that many of these NFL players just not taking this exercise very seriously.
26:29And because he didn't put up numbers last year, many just forgot about him.
26:33So that's why this is not anything, uh, that should be used to make decisions on.
26:38It's just for conversation. And so when you're creating content, what percentage of the content are you gearing toward the NFL fan versus specific to fantasy football?
26:47Okay. Right. So back to that. So basically, um, and for me, there's a lot of college football blended, blended into this too.
26:53Right. Because obviously I also like write and I do a daily show once every day, every single weekday of the year.
27:00Orange bloods. Yeah. I do a show talking about the Texas longhorns on, on the, on, on orange bloods live.
27:06We have like 250,000 subscribers over there. Um, and it's like a, like a big YouTube channel.
27:11Right. And I also write for the site. And, um, so whenever you have that level of like, you know, you know
27:18what you are, by the way, not only are the ex basis for alpha rev, you are a college football analyst that also does fantasy.
27:26Right. Right. Well, I'm, I consider myself like, like to me, they all come together.
27:30It's like, I go to all these calls. I just got back from say like the Manning passing Academy.
27:36Right. And I'm at the Manning passing Academy. And of course I have the Arch Manning angle to cover for the Texas site.
27:43Right. For how did Arch look? Look, look, look great.
27:46Look, look good. Um, but, but see, so did like Trinidad, Trinidad Chambliss.
27:50So did CJ Carr. So did all these guys that we're going to be talking about, you know, in this upcoming, in
27:57this upcoming draft class to where, you know, these are guys that, you know, DeMond Williams, I got to be, he looks kind of small to me.
28:05You know what I mean? Um, there, there, there are guys that we're going to be talking about in this upcoming draft
28:11class and through this, you know, this college football season that even before we get to the senior bowl or the shrine
28:18bowl, or before we even get to, you know, the combine or all the rest of it, like I will have got to see them live.
28:26I will have got to be around them closely when they're interacting with these high school campers.
28:31Um, I will, I've, I've, I've, I've gotten to talk to all of them.
28:35You know what I mean? It's kind, it's kind of a, it's, it's kind of like, well, I'm there to cover arch.
28:42I'm there to do the long horse thing, but I'm also there to do kind of this thing to where I can,
28:49you know, you know, dole out these different kinds of content.
28:52And as you go through these things, you meet with sources and you meet with people who, you know, you get to know through these processes.
29:00They begin to trust you because they see you at all the events and that, that helps you with fantasy because you
29:07can text them later and say like, dude, who's, who's, who's, who's getting the first team run right now?
29:12You know, like stuff like that. And like all that stuff helps.
29:16And I also think that as I think that is a natural outgrowth of what you've definitely experienced, Matt, as a, as
29:23an owner in this fantasy football space, what have we constantly tried to do?
29:27What have we constantly tried to do? We've tried to, we've tried to squeeze, you know, we've tried to squeeze the blood
29:34out of the turnip during the off season, trying to figure out some way to bridge the gap between the fantasy football
29:40season and, and whenever draft season starts in earnest, which is actually right about now.
29:45It's always right about middle. It's like middle of July.
29:48It's, it's starting to trickle back in, but it's starting to, it's starting to be a thing now.
29:53Yeah. And so like, but what was it? And it was like, okay, well for us, it was covering the NFL draft,
30:00covering the rookies, talking to a bunch of dynasty.
30:03Then we got this thing, best ball. Right. And it started with NFL tens and now it grew and grew.
30:09Then underdog came along, fast draft comes along. Right.
30:12It's like, now it's this, it's, it's a, it's honestly a monstrosity.
30:15It's a, it's a really big deal. So much so that the fact that since we have to basically turn our attention
30:22to redraft, given the resources that we, we, we have at our company just to like, like it's, it's, it's me and Cody making these sheets.
30:30Right. So it's like, it used to be, we could just turn off the best ball cheat sheet and nobody would care.
30:37Right. But now it's like, people are like, no, like we need the best ball cheat sheet all through the summer.
30:43We're like, well, dang, man, we got all these.
30:46Now it's all this stuff that we want to do.
30:49Right. So all this, all, all this time it was.
30:52Oh, Alex, you have to continue to maintain your best ball cheat sheet for a couple extra months.
30:57Oh, how do you do it? How do you manage?
31:00What I'm trying to say is, is, is this, I think we realize naturally it's just a bribe, a by-product of this
31:07idea of having to bridge the gap in fantasy that when you go to the combine, when you go do events like
31:14we do at the NFL draft, right? We're not there specifically talking about fantasy.
31:18We have, we have the NFL news desk. We can take clips from that.
31:22Whereas like an NFL fan can hear from Cody or me or Maddie or, you know, in the past guys like Theo or all these people, right?
31:30Just about, you know, why this team went ahead and drafted offensive linemen with their first two picks.
31:36Right. But that, that brings them to the channel.
31:38It makes them interested in you. It like, and I also think that like, for me, it's for, for me personally, it's
31:45like being in the other lane, being in the Longhorns lane.
31:48I have no idea. I should probably look into it.
31:51How many people subscribe to the site that are just my readers from over there that over the years have learned to
31:58trust me about what I say about Texas. They're like, well, you know, he's pretty good.
32:03What he said, what he says about Texas. I'm sure he's good at fantasy.
32:07Do you know what I mean? It's like, it's like, to me, it's been a seamless part of how I've grown a
32:14business is to integrate these college football NFL draft.
32:17I can tell you that over the next couple months, especially during the NFL season, we're going to be focused a little
32:23bit more on just talking about NFL players and the success and failure of NFL teams and, and general performances separate and
32:30apart from fantasy in order to expand our reach and create a larger tent.
32:34And we'll check back in. That's what we do.
32:37The content King show almost every month. And, you know, end of the year, November, December, we'll, we'll talk about it.
32:43We'll see. We'll see how successful it was. If I were you knowing the reach you have with orange bloods, I would
32:50find creative ways to let people know about roster watch and the fantasy tools you have on roster watch, especially when you
32:57have a breakout for someone like a Jaden blue or a Xavier worthy, whenever there's a Texas player.
33:02When those things. No, no, this is what I would do.
33:06If I were you, I would be hunting for Texas players, especially right now.
33:10Who are, who's everybody talking about, especially in best ball at night.
33:13Mitchell at night. Mitchell is the riser in best ball.
33:16We just, we had a big best ball update.
33:19I did. I did notice that he was up like 10 spots, uh, 10.
33:23He was, he was up like 10 spots when, whenever I checked last week over the course of the last 10 days or whatever.
33:31Yeah. It's like a week in a week, he's up more than around.
33:35Exactly. And then, so we've been ahead of consensus on him.
33:38And so we're just trying to, how do you stay ahead of consensus on a guy like Adonite Mitchell?
33:44You have to, you have to work at it.
33:46That that's how, that's how much of a, this helium balloon that he is.
33:51So if I saw that and I were you, it would be a great tie in.
33:56It'd be a natural content tie in because it would be perfectly relevant to talk about, Hey, by the way, Adonite Mitchell
34:02is going to win people a lot of money in best ball over a roster wash.
34:07Here's where we had him on the best ball cheat sheet.
34:10Just, oh, by the way to hundreds of thousands of Texas Longhorns fans.
34:14No, that's a, yeah, it's probably a, probably a good idea.
34:18Yeah. You're a lot better at, you're a lot better at, you're a lot better at cross selling.
34:23Just getting yourself out there and marketing yourself and not, not being afraid to, you know, not, not be afraid to put
34:30yourself out there than I, than I generally am.
34:33So I definitely think that that's pro that's probably a good idea.
34:36And I definitely defer to your instincts with those kinds of, of initiatives for sure.
34:41Based on, you know, based on your record with them.
34:44If anyone out there wants tips on self-promotion, I'm your guy.
34:47That's a good, that's a good way of putting it.
34:50I'm your guy. No, I'm your guy. And by the way, and I love your show on Sirius XM.
34:56You mentioned that earlier. You and Cody were talking about a Mecca egg Buka.
35:00And then I have a show with Cody on this channel, the Sonic Truth Dynasty podcast, which we run on the Dynasty channel.
35:07There's also a Dynasty channel. So if you're subscribed to the player profiler or roster watch YouTube channel, check out the player profiler Dynasty channel.
35:15Cody and I are on there, you know, at least once every couple of weeks talking Dynasty.
35:20And, you know, I put it to him. I was like, Hey, listen, Cody, you're so incredibly bullish on a Emeka Egbuka.
35:27And I was in the car and I was flipping through the channels and typically we're listening to music with, with the fam.
35:34And I landed on Sirius XM fantasy roster watch.
35:36And I got some looks immediately. Like my wife and daughter were like, are you seriously stopping on this channel?
35:42And I was like, we got to listen to this for a minute.
35:46And they were like, really? And I'm like, yes.
35:49So this is the first time in my life I was sitting there with the family locked in on a fantasy radio
35:56show and you and Cody were talking about a Mecca egg Buka.
35:59You specifically were just victory lapping on how high you've been on a Mecca egg Buka all off season, how frustrated you
36:06are that he is getting so steamed up, especially in best ball, the ADP.
36:10And you're like, man, at some point I'm not able to draft this guy.
36:15And it's really disappointing. I've been so bullish on him all off season.
36:19And I'll admit it. We have not been as bullish on a Mecca egg Buka as you, because I find it difficult
36:25to draft him at his ADP knowing where Godwin is now, certainly in best ball where you can double stack and you
36:32just draft Mayfield with a Buka and Godwin. That is one of the great tactics in all of best ball.
36:38Absolutely. But if I had to choose who is a better value at cost, I'm going to go Chris Godwin every time.
36:45Number one. And then number two, Cody and I were debating Zay Flowers versus a Mecca egg Buka.
36:50And his position was a Mecca egg Buka is essentially the next JSN.
36:54And it's not even close with Zay Flowers. And now that we've had this conversation, it sounds to me like next time
37:01you go on the roster watch program with Cody, you're going to tell, hey, Cody, we got to come to terms with
37:07the fact there's a convergence here with a Buka and Flowers.
37:11Well, I'm going to have a Buka over Flowers still because I, you know, I, I think that's how the ADPs.
37:17Oh, no. Yeah. You can have both. If you wanted to draft a Buka and then the next round get Flowers, you can.
37:24Well, right. Because that, and it comes in a point in the draft where it's like, I don't really, it's going to,
37:31it's going to, Camp Scadaboo is going to have something to do with that.
37:35I'm going to always like to take him. I, I'll, I'm always going to like to get like a Camp Scadaboo around that area too.
37:43So, but it's like, it comes at a time where it's got guys that I'm just not interested in.
37:48Like, I'm not that interested in Tee Higgins this year.
37:51I'm worried about the Jets in general. I'm not really as interested in Garrett Wilson.
37:56There was a whole thing. I was, the whole crisis I was having about, can I get a Buka over Garrett Wilson?
38:03And I just got to thinking, I mean, like a Buka's target share without Mike Evans last year, it was like a 28.3%.
38:10And, you know, not like, you know, almost a 10 point, 10, you know, percentage point difference than when he, than when
38:16he was in and when he was in a Buka was hurt and all the rest of it, just the start that he got off to last year.
38:25Chris, Chris, Chris Godwin did not have anywhere near the same effect.
38:28As, as, as Mike Evans did to a Buka's target share whenever he was in and out last season.
38:34And I just think that if you just look at just the start that he got off to, man, and the fact
38:41that Ohio State that year, they played so deep into the season and he's like, I was a rookie and I wasn't,
38:48I didn't know how to handle myself. And I was playing, you know, I was playing hurt with the hamstring stuff for the whole end of the season.
38:56It was just, to me, it's like, it makes a whole lot of sense to think this is going to be a
39:03guy who, you know, I mean, this was a guy's just as a rookie that Baker Mayfield looked to in the end zone.
39:10He had what, as far as targets inside the 20 last season, he had 14.
39:14He almost had one per game. You know, it's just like 11 end zone targets last season as a, as, as a
39:21rookie playing hurt for half the season. And I just, man, I just, I just look at him and I say that Mike Evans is gone.
39:29Baker Mayfield's got to make his money. He's got to get a new contract.
39:33I think he's going to know where his bread's buttered this year.
39:37Chris Godwin's going to be 31 years old. I think he's good.
39:40I'm just, you know, I think that Emeka Egbuka is a total alpha though, man.
39:45He has more receiving yards at Ohio State than any of these guys that have come out.
39:50Now I know that that was over four years.
39:53Most of these guys, you know, the JSNs, Garrett Wilson, a lot of these guys were only there for three years, but
39:59it's like, if you've made, if you've made bets on these, on these Ohio State guys in recent years, they've been pretty good.
40:06Once, once they've produced with other really good guys, they're there on the roster.
40:11It's been a real good bet. It feels like he's set up.
40:14So I'm all in on Egbuka. I, and I am too, by the way, I am too.
40:19I was not all in on Egbuka, but after listening to you all and listening to some other super smart fantasy analysts, I've, I've, I've, I've come around.
40:28The problem is like Jalen McMillan comes back. They draft Ted Hurst.
40:32They're there. They're not only is there some vacated targets, a lot of vacated targets, Mike Evans, whenever you're hunting for vacated targets, where are the vacated targets?
40:40There's all Mike Evans. There's not a bigger receiver in terms of vacated targets.
40:44It's like the, the center of gravity for a team for 10 years is gone.
40:49That's huge. Just like it's huge for Godwin. It's also huge for Egbuka.
40:53Egbuka. Yeah, it's big. You can argue it's even bigger for Egbuka because he's going to be playing outside more than Godwin is.
41:00And he's your first round pick that you picked as an eventual successor, not to be like exactly like Mike Evans was,
41:06but to be your new, to be your new star wide receiver.
41:10And he's really good. I just think it's funny.
41:13I think it's funny that we're projecting Egbuka based on half a season, but we refuse to project Michael Wilson based on half a season.
41:20Michael Wilson has targets returning in Marvin Harrison Jr.
41:23X targets are returning. Whereas with Egbuka, X targets are exiting.
41:27Yeah. But what I'm, what I'm, what I'm worried about is there's just a complete deterioration of conditions in Arizona.
41:33I know. We don't have to talk about Arizona anymore.
41:36Right. I have always liked to point out funny things, dude.
41:39I mean, Matt, I'm now all in on Egbuka.
41:42So I just want to say thank you for that with an offense.
41:46That's a, not a lions Cowboys offense. It's just, I have a hard time getting out ahead and super bullish on multiple receivers, like a Baker Mayfield offense.
41:54But Baker Mayfield was basically strapped together last year with duct tape bandages, super glue, gorilla glue, everything.
42:00Right. So there's also a chance that Baker Mayfield who had a top five fantasy points per game season, the year prior
42:06that he could be somewhere between what we saw in 2024, what we saw in 2025.
42:11And if we can get just a blend of 2024 and 2025 Baker Mayfield, then it's going to be pretty easy for
42:18Egbuka and Chris Godwin to both get there. And, and certainly in dynasty, we've always been bullish.
42:23We have Egbuka as a top 20 player in dynasty.
42:26I was just looking at this particular year. I was like, well, you know, we can be super bullish on Godwin because
42:33we can be super bullish on Egbuka. Cause we know Godwin's has limited time left on that roster, but you know what?
42:39It's probably going to happen this year. Just go get him.
42:43Just go. It's going to happen. It's going to consolidate around these two guys, Godwin Egbuka and listen to the, what these teams are doing.
42:50Listen to what they're saying and look at their off season moves.
42:54When you see Houston bringing in David Montgomery, you can't go be overweight on Nico Collins.
42:59Like that, that is just flying in the face of every bit of information.
43:03The team is publicly sharing with you, the fantasy gamer.
43:06So you want to go be out ahead on Nico Collins.
43:09Good luck with that. On the other side of that coin, the Buccaneers are bringing in Kenneth Gainwell and they're saying we're going to be a passing team.
43:18We're going to be a passing team. The one guy that runs between the tackles is their RB three.
43:24So they're going to be around. They're setting themselves up to be a pass first team and they don't have a tight end that we care much about.
43:32No, they brought in a satellite back to command some extra target share.
43:36Great. That's going to hurt who Otten and McMillan the most.
43:39That's where Gainwell is going to cannibalize targets from.
43:42It'll be targets coming over to gain. Well, from Irving targets coming over from Otten and McMillan.
43:47It's not going to affect Egbuka. Like book is going to soak up a bunch of these Mike Evans targets and he's going to, he's going to slay.
43:56And you mentioned David Montgomery. It's like, if you're picking at the one, two turn, like it's just, it feels like such
44:03a hot start to be like, to start, to start out with some kind of like Jinty James Cook or like James
44:09Cook Omari and Hampton or something like that. Just get the, get two like stud running backs up top.
44:15Then come back down and get Egbuka Zay flowers.
44:18Right. And then, right. Can you, how sick does that feel?
44:21Oh Lord. Oh Lord. Yeah. Robust RB man. RBRB start.
44:24Oh, oh Lord. And then you mentioned David Montgomery.
44:27It's like in some spots where, you know, you can see David Montgomery sometimes fall toward the back into the fifth.
44:33You could go like some kind of pick off David Montgomery and then you can take like Tyler Warren or something.
44:40It's like that. That's, that's, that's a start to a draft.
44:43It's almost bulletproof too. Other than the top five offenses outside the top five offenses.
44:47I generally like to pick one side of the offense or the other and focus on that.
44:53So with the Buccaneers, I'm focused on the passing game with the Texans.
44:57I'm focused on the running game. Do you agree with that general approach?
45:00Whereas, Hey, if it's the Cowboys, if it's the Bengals, if it's the Rams, sure.
45:05Right. I'll, I'll take the, the, the full spectrum of players from this offense.
45:09But if you're the Texans, if you're the Falcons, if you're the, the Broncos, then I'm probably going to pick one aspect
45:16of your offense that I think is undervalued or where I see an organizational focus.
45:20And I'm going to zero in on that. David Montgomery is the most obvious example.
45:25The, the, the, the overweight on Montgomery underweight on Nico Collins, probably the most obvious example out there.
45:31So with these kinds, so the top teams, if you look at average implied team totals for the, for the season, it
45:37feels like, so as the top average, so the Rams have the top at 26.6, then it's Detroit at 26.2.
45:43Then it's Buffalo at 26, basically 26. Even Baltimore's at 26.
45:47Even Cincinnati's at 25.9, basically 26. Then after that, you get down to Dallas, it's like 25 and a half.
45:53So it's more like a top one, two. Yeah.
45:55It's basically a top five to six. San Francisco's kind of mixes in there.
46:00So if you look at the worst, well, San Francisco, you are targeting both because it's McCaffrey.
46:05Yeah. So you're absolutely targeting Kittle McCaffrey. It's such a consolidated offense.
46:08It's a, it's a high quality, efficient offense. That's very consolidated right now where I can't draft everybody.
46:14Yeah. And some of these offenses, like the lions, I'm drafting absolutely everybody.
46:18Cowboys, I'm drafting absolutely everybody. San Francisco, we start to get to a point where I'll draft everyone except Ricky Pearsall.
46:24And at that point, you're getting into the point of the draft or to the point in the implied average implied team
46:31totals where basically San Francisco stops right at 25 even, right?
46:34Anything, all these ones that are under 25, even you start to maybe see a little of this creep in.
46:40Cause that's like teams you still like where you could maybe, where you like one aspect a whole lot better, but can
46:47maybe see yourself on with the other aspect like Seattle, Green Bay, Chicago, Philly, you know all of those, you can make
46:54a good argument for saying like, well, in Seattle, obviously you're most interested in just kind of being singular minded saying if
47:00I get JSN and Rashid Shahid, AJ Barner, I think all these guys are values.
47:05Okay. I'm not sure. Like I haven't been as in on Shahid.
47:09I could probably be, it feels like he's got received a lot of positive buzz and I have not really accounted too
47:15much for that in the cheat sheet. Maybe I should.
47:18What is he? What is even his ADP right now?
47:21There's three, there's three legs of the stool there with Rashid Shahid.
47:25You've got all the positive buzz about him expanding his route tree.
47:29The, the, the, the, the route tree expansion news is one of the, one of the news items that I, that I pay attention to the most.
47:37We also know that he's been historically a very efficient receiver in and of himself.
47:41And there's a consolidated target distribution there. So we have a, we, even though it's Sam Darnold, the, the, the target consolidation
47:48is there where there's not a lot of players running routes that command targets in Seattle on any given play.
47:54So with those dynamics in place, Rashid Shahid is a buy.
47:57They also paid him a lot of money. Well, that now that's the, that's a fourth dynamic.
48:03Now you have a four legged stool with organizational commitment.
48:06Yeah. Yeah. Now you're up in the, once you get to a four legged stool, you're up in the desk.
48:12That's David Montgomery territory. Yeah. Well, so I guess 12th round 80, you know, one 38 is where I had him as
48:18far as his blended ADP across the, yeah, I'm just saying like in terms of like how bullish you want to be versus ADP.
48:26I get it. I don't care, man. I don't care.
48:29I don't, I don't care. I don't care that David Montgomery is not sexy.
48:33I don't care that Rashid Shahid's not sexy. I don't care that Chris Godwin's not sexy.
48:38I don't care that JK Dobbins isn't sexy. I don't care.
48:41I, I, I have a basket of unsexy players that I'm going to, because I lost plenty of fantasy leagues in my
48:48younger days when I was going with a hundred percent.
48:51Yes. When my teams were all sex, I was losing and I started winning when I started bringing in some old dirty
48:57bastards, just a whole team of basial tootons. I just, yes.
49:01Yeah. Yeah. That's what, no, you can't do that.
49:04Yeah. That's not the way to win. It's not man.
49:07Yeah. I'd have like a, I'd, I'd have, you know, late round Ted Hurst and facial tootin and it was Trevion Henderson.
49:13Yeah. You know, it was just all aspirational fun players.
49:16Right. And, and, and I would never even dream of drafting a JK Dobbins get out of here.
49:22Yeah. I'd have, you know, but, but I'd have plenty of RJ Harvey and my team would go straight into the ditch.
49:28Yeah. I love it, man. That's no, it's definitely, you've, you've, you've definitely grown a lot, man, going from zero RB to
49:35robust RB to I'm not even sure what the hell you are now.
49:39And just used to be the total ageist. And now, now you want, now, now you want the aging, you know, JK
49:46Dobbins in Denver coming off his third Achilles or whatever it is.
49:49I mean, I, it's possible I'm taking it too far.
49:52It's possible. I found the edge. I found the edge.
49:55I found the edge. Like, wait, your team is Mike Evans.
49:59I, I just drafted a team that was Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
50:03It was at a startup. I can show you, I can put up on the screen right now.
50:08I have it up on the screen right now.
50:11I'll show you this. I'll show this right now.
50:14I'll get you out of here. Alex has to get out of here.
50:18He's a fishing trip with his son. We have to get him out of here.
50:22He we're, we're over time already where we always are with this show, but I am going to, I wish I have
50:29to show him this startup that just, just, just for the record, this is a startup that this startup also you're going
50:35to look at some of the names on in this startup.
50:39And this startup is probably going to win it all.
50:42What is the format? The format is PPR. Okay.
50:45Okay. It's PPR tight end premium. It's basic tight end premium.
50:48There's 1.5 PPR for tight ends. And, uh, you know, you start with some, some, some sex appeal.
50:53And then as soon as round five rolls around, all of a sudden you got guys that are post apex.
50:59Yeah. You got guys that are post apex, but what am I doing?
51:03I'm doing classic best ball dynasty arbitrage. AJ Brown at the one, two turn and best ball getting him in the fifth round and dynasty.
51:11Yeah. Very much. Yeah. Eric Henry, Matthew Stafford, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, JK Dobbins, Aaron Rogers.
51:16Oh, that look at how dirty this is so scummy and dirty.
51:19Oh, I think, dude, I think it's a good dude.
51:23I think that that team, if you just look at like scroll, scroll back up again, you look at the nucleus of that team.
51:30I mean, this is just a nasty old crusty man with, with big ear hairs coming out.
51:35Yeah. Doesn't give a shit anymore. You gotta keep that, that tweezer game locked in.
51:40Gotta get some tweezer game. If I actually, you know what it is?
51:43I think that's what it is. If I can keep my tweezer game up and I can get, I can maybe go
51:50to the gym, get myself at least do some walking, do some, do some power walking with some, get some big thick
51:57sold white shoes, get out there, do some power walking, get my tweezer game.
52:01Good. I think I can win this league. I think so too.
52:05I'll see you later, Alex. I mean, I, it's possible I'm taking it too far.
52:09It's possible. I found the edge. Aaron Rogers. Look at how dirty, this is so scummy and dirty.
52:15Oh, you're literally taking time to stop and stop and smell the roses.
52:19You're like, oh yeah. Like, like he's, he's got it.
52:22Not only are the ex basis for alpha revs, you have to continue to maintain your best ball cheat sheet for a couple extra months.
52:29Aw. If anyone out there wants tips on self promotion, I'm your guy.
52:33That's a good, that's a good way of putting it.
52:36Just a whole team of basial tootings. Oh Lord.
52:39I'm not worried, dude. But what I'm worried. Nasty old crusty man with, with big ear hairs coming out.
52:45Doesn't give a shit anymore. You gotta keep that, that tweezer game locked in.
