Alvin Kamara

NegativeProjection0:37

Alvin Kamara looks washed with near-bottom-of-the-league advanced metrics in both rushing and receiving, finishing 36th among 40 running backs in yards per route run last year.

Insight page
NegativeRole0:37

Kamara was not even effective in the passing game last year, which is his calling card, making him an unattractive fantasy option despite taking a pay cut to stay with the Saints.

Insight page

Brandon Aiyuk

PositiveRole0:57

Aiyuk is part of an interesting 49ers receiving core with Kittle and Evans, though all three are a bit injury prone. If any one is out, the other two benefit.

Insight page

Breece Hall

NegativeValue0:11

Breece Hall's price has gotten aggressive, going in the early third round, and Smola is leaning towards wide receivers in that draft range instead.

Insight page

Brock Bowers

PositiveUsage0:16

Brock Bowers could get up to 30% of the Raiders' targets and is still a solid pick despite the weak offense, with his target share ceiling as high as you want to think.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:28

Brock Bowers is loved by the analyst but carries a huge opportunity cost if taken in mid-to-late round one, making him less attractive than Colson Loveland at his current ADP.

Insight page

Calvin Ridley

PositiveValue1:01

Ridley is undervalued in the WR60s ADP. Despite a poor start last year with the Titans, he registered the second-best yards per route of his career at 1.89. Under Brian Daboll's offense that consistently gets three WRs on the field, Ridley could see enough volume to provide starter weeks as a WR6.

Insight page

Carnell Tate

PositiveProjection0:57

Tate is one of the more expensive rookie WRs with a 20-26 projection in redraft, similar to Jordan Tyson but going earlier.

Insight page

Chase Brown

PositiveValue0:08

Chase Brown is fairly priced in the middle of round two for the Bengals offense.

Insight page

Christian Watson

PositiveProjection1:02

Watson had compensatory injuries similar to Marshawn Lloyd that athletic trainers have figured out, giving hope that he will work out and perform better.

Insight page

Colston Loveland

PositiveValue0:28

Loveland can still generally be obtained in round four in non-tight end premium formats, and the analyst is less scared to pass up high-priced tight ends like Bowers and McBride for him.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout0:28

Colson Loveland checks every box as a prospect with strong production at Michigan, was top six among 38 qualifying tight ends in both yards per route and targets per route, and the analyst believes he could be talked about alongside Brock Bowers and Trey McBride by next year.

Insight page

Dak Prescott

PositiveValue0:07

Dak Prescott is going a little bit later amongst quarterbacks than expected given the Cowboys' elite offense, but lacks rushing upside which limits his ceiling to unlikely top-five QB finish.

Insight page

Davante Adams

PositiveProjection0:56

Adams is an established elite touchdown producer now joining a team under Kyle Shanahan with Brock Purdy, who has one of the highest passing touchdown rates among active quarterbacks.

Insight page

De'Von Achane

PositiveValue0:17

Devon Achane is not a must-have player and is fairly priced in the early to mid-second round, with limited upside due to the weak Miami offense and loss of Mike McDaniel.

Insight page

Denzel Boston

PositiveBreakout0:14

Denzel Boston has impressed at mini camp and is worth speculating on late in drafts given his cheap price.

Insight page

Drake Maye

PositiveProjection0:27

Drake May was quarterback three in fantasy points per game last year in his first season in Josh McDaniels' offense with a mediocre supporting cast, and now has another year of experience, A.J. Brown, Romeo Dobbs, and improved offensive line pieces.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:27

Drake May is the analyst's favorite high-end quarterback target, generally available in round five or six, and gives sneaky rushing ability.

Insight page

Dylan Sampson

PositiveRole0:13

Dylan Sampson's passing game usage last year is cited as evidence that the Browns will employ a two-back system under Todd Monken.

Insight page

Garrett Wilson

PositiveValue0:11

Garrett Wilson is Jared Smola's favorite target among primary Jets pieces, expected to easily control targets for the Jets offense despite increased target competition from rookies.

Insight page

George Kittle

PositiveRole0:57

Kittle is part of an interesting 49ers receiving core with Pierce and Evans, though all three are a bit injury prone. If any one is out, the other two benefit.

Insight page

Harold Fannin

PositiveValue0:13

Harold Fannin is a good value target for the Browns, with his price dropping to the 8th-9th round in best ball drafts despite scoring the fourth most PPR points per game by a rookie tight end since 2000.

Insight page

Ja'Marr Chase

PositiveValue0:08

Jamar Chase is priced appropriately for the Bengals offense.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:34

Jamar Chase is among the elite wide receivers whose production remains flat or up from previous seasons and is not coming off the field despite the shift toward more tight ends on passing downs.

Insight page

Jalen Hurts

PositiveProjection0:27

Jalen Hurts finished quarterback seven in fantasy points per game last year and is being drafted at his floor, making him a good value bet on the offense being better with Sean Manning as offensive coordinator.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:28

Hurts is expected to give a ton of rushing production on the ground, and the analyst thinks he didn't score many rushing touchdowns last year, which should regress back toward normal.

Insight page

Javonte Williams

PositiveRole0:06

Javante Williams should continue to control carries for the Cowboys offense, but Jared Smola has concerns about his role in the passing game in 2026 due to inefficiency last year.

Insight page

Jonathan Taylor

NegativeProjection0:23

The analyst is worried about Jonathan Taylor because the Colts are projected to be favored in only 10 of 17 games and may find themselves trailing more often, which limits his big fantasy games despite his passing game contributions.

Insight page

Jordyn Tyson

PositiveSleeper0:57

Tyson is the analyst's favorite among the expensive rookie WRs. He was the analyst's WR1 pre-draft and still likes him best in dynasty. He's right there with Carnell Tate in redraft with a 20-26 projection but tends to go later, making him a value.

Insight page

Josh Jacobs

PositiveProjection0:21

Josh Jacobs is well-positioned in the Packers' ball-control, run-leaning offense with a strong defense, and the analyst has been drafting him heavily now that he's going in round four.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:22

Jacobs gets the lion's share of rushing work and pretty much all of the touchdowns on the ground, making him a discount version of James Cook without the touchdown competition from a mobile quarterback.

Insight page
NegativeInjury1:01

Jacobs is an injury risk, having only stayed healthy in two of his seven NFL seasons at age 28, making him a potential cut candidate for Green Bay.

Insight page

Kolton Miller

PositiveRole0:16

Colton Miller's return to health should help the Raiders offensive line improve from 32nd to potentially 24th best, aiding both protection and running lanes.

Insight page

Makai Lemon

PositiveProjection0:57

Lemon is one of the trio of more expensive rookie wide receivers being discussed.

Insight page

Malik Willis

NegativeProjection0:18

Malik Willis presents quarterback concerns for the Dolphins offense in terms of passing volume.

Insight page

MarShawn Lloyd

PositiveValue1:01

Lloyd is undervalued as a super cheap handcuff behind Josh Jacobs. He's healthy after working with a biomechanics specialist who identified compensatory injuries from his 2022 ACL tear. He had a healthy spring and impressed coaching staff, with the door wide open to be the number two RB behind the injury-prone Jacobs.

Insight page

Mike Evans

PositiveProjection0:56

Evans is the obvious candidate to be this year's Devante Adams—an older elite player changing teams. He could score double digit touchdowns with Brock Purdy.

Insight page

Puka Nacua

PositiveRole0:33

Puka Nacua is among the elite alpha wide receivers whose production remains flat or up from previous seasons and is not coming off the field despite the shift toward more tight ends on passing downs.

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

PositiveValue0:19

Saquon Barkley is preferred over Devon Achane at similar draft ranges.

Insight page

Tee Higgins

PositiveValue0:08

Tee Higgins is the best value among Bengals receivers, now dropping to the 3-4 turn after going at the 2-3 turn last year with no real difference in outlook, and should garner around 20% target share in a pass-heavy offense.

Insight page

Travis Etienne

NegativeProjection0:37

Alvin Kamara's return is at least slightly bad news for Travis Etienne as more competition in the backfield is not a good thing, though Kamara may only steal some passing down targets.

Insight page

Trevor Lawrence

PositiveProjection0:24

The analyst has been drafting a ton of Trevor Lawrence despite the Jaguars' lower-than-expected fantasy environment score, betting against Vegas that the offense will be better than projected.

Insight page

Trey McBride

NegativeProjection0:30

The analyst has had trouble clicking on Trey McBride due to opportunity cost, and believes last year may have been his career year with so many routes run and targets, making a repeat unlikely.

Insight page
NegativeProjection0:30

McBride's 11 touchdowns last year had everything break right for him, and the analyst has a hard time seeing that repeat this year, especially if Carson Beck plays meaningful games during the fantasy playoffs.

Insight page
PositiveUsage0:31

McBride has established himself as a 25% target share guy, which should remain relatively consistent despite added competition from Jeremiah Love and other Cardinals receivers.

Insight page

Tyler Linderbaum

PositiveRole0:16

Tyler Linderbaum manning the center position should help with protections and create running lanes for the Raiders offense.

Insight page

Tyler Shough

PositiveProjection0:57

Shough showed quite a bit over the second half of last season and could take a step forward in year two under Kellen Moore's high-tempo Saints offense.

Insight page

Tyler Warren

PositiveProjection0:23

Tyler Warren had an excellent rookie season and prospect profile, and if the Colts find themselves trailing more and throwing more passes, he could have a really big season.

1:04Welcome to The Dominator. I'm your fantasy conciliare, Dan Williamson, the overhyped sleeper.
1:07You can find me on x at overhyped sleeper.
1:10Just drop that final e. Joining me today is one of the very best fantasy analysts around.
1:15He consistently finishes as one of the most accurate rankers in the Fantasy Pros Contest.
1:19He's always looking for new and better ways to dissect the data available to us.
1:23And in short, when he's got something to say, I'm always listening.
1:27Jared Smola is on the show today, and that means it's time to dominate.
1:31All right. Welcome, Jared. Thanks for joining me today.
1:33Happy to be on with you, Dan. Ready for Camps get going.
1:36I'm ready for, you know, some new news. I feel like we've been hearing the same stuff over and over again.
1:42So we're, what, a couple, not even two weeks away at this point.
1:46So pumped up for that. Yeah, me too. It really has been kind of a feedback loop where everybody's just sort of
1:52regurgitating the same information and all of that. And it just, it gets tiring and there's not much different going on in
1:58drafts because there's no real move or news to move, you know, ADPs or anything.
2:03So it's just a good time to do what some of the things that you do, which is diving into, you know,
2:09different things, different ways to analyze the data. And one of them that you came up with is the fantasy environment score.
2:15I wonder if you can tell us just a little bit about that and what that's about.
2:20Yeah, so I'm sure you've seen the, you know, implied points per game stuff where we're looking at the Vegas lines for
2:26all these games, you know, week one through 18 and sort of coming up with a implied points per game for each team.
2:32And that's super important. We've done that at DraftSharks for a long time.
2:36It's part of our projections process. We try to at least, you know, closely match our scoring projections for each of these
2:42offenses with what the implied Vegas totals are telling us.
2:45But I wanted to, you know, see if I could do a bit better than that.
2:50So I came up with this fantasy environment score for each team and it starts with each team's implied points per game.
2:56That is the heaviest weight in this fantasy environment score.
2:59But we're also in this score factoring in things like how many games each team is favored in or underdogs in and by how much.
3:06We're factoring in implied points per game allowed from each of these teams, how good the defense is going to be.
3:11We're factoring in that the average over under each of these teams games.
3:15And then I also looked at how many games each team is in what I deemed a shootout, which is a game
3:21with an over under of 48 points or higher than how many games each team has that I called a low total
3:28game where it's a game with an over under of 42 or lower.
3:31So just, again, trying to do a bit more than just implied points per game because that's a good starting point.
3:37But we know, you know, these these game environments or how many points you're allowing, whether these games end up as back
3:43and forth shootouts that that drives fantasy scoring, you know, maybe not as much as the implied points per game, but it definitely has a big impact.
3:51Yeah, I think that's that's definitely important because, you know, we all love to be have our players involved in those shootouts.
3:57And, you know, that's that's where our big fantasy weeks come from when there's, you know, several of our players have those shootouts to go.
4:04So if you don't mind, I'm going to I'm going to throw up just what your environment scores were from your article here.
4:11There we go. And, you know, so you've got, you know, the scores just range from Dallas is way up at three point one two.
4:18And then they go down into negative numbers. Cleveland Browns at negative three point eight two.
4:22So this is just kind of a single score that's a weight of all the things you were just talking about then.
4:28Right. Correct. Yeah. And, you know, the three point one two or whatever, it doesn't really mean anything.
4:33I tried to come up with something that we could like relate to, like points or fantasy scoring.
4:38I didn't come up with anything, but at least so, you know, again, the three doesn't mean anything, but at least gives you a scale.
4:45Like you can kind of see how big of a drop off there are there is, you know, from team to team.
4:52Right. Exactly. And even between one and two, Dallas and Cincinnati, you know, there's a pretty big drop off there.
4:57And then we see another one between Baltimore and San Francisco, you know, like a point seven drop off there.
5:03And then, you know, it it drops off again between Tampa and Jacksonville, 72 to point 29.
5:08You know, so there's there's some pretty, pretty big tiers in there is one of the things I noticed.
5:13But let's let's start off by talking about some of your top tier teams.
5:17We've got Dallas and Cincinnati leading it off. That's that's, I guess, not too surprising to anybody.
5:22We all expect them to score well, but it also means a lot of their players are expensive in ADP.
5:27Jared, do you see any good values there or is it just sort of, you know, like pay up and be happy with it?
5:34Yeah, I think it's more the latter. Pay up and be happy.
5:37I mean, there's no like surprises on these offenses, Dallas and Cincinnati of where the ball is going to go.
5:43Right. But I think that makes the players involved that much easier to rely on.
5:47So, you know, starting with the Cowboys, like you said, Dan, the Cowboys are first in fantasy environment score by a pretty wide margin.
5:54And I would have expected them to be in the top five, but I probably wouldn't have picked them to be number one.
6:00And then again, they're number one by a pretty wide margin.
6:04The Cowboys have the sixth highest implied points per game and are also projected to allow the fourth most points per game.
6:10So, you know, the Vegas Lions are saying the Cowboys is going to be involved in a lot of shootouts.
6:15They actually 15 of their 17 games have an over under a 48 plus points.
6:20No other team has more than 11 games with an over under a 48 plus points.
6:24So these Cowboys game should be fun. We know where the ball is going again.
6:28It's going to George Pickens. It's going to CeeDee Lamb.
6:31Javante Williams, I think, you know, should continue to at least control carries for this offense.
6:36I have some concerns about his role in the passing game in 2026.
6:39He just wasn't very efficient in that department last year.
6:42But, you know, again, we know the main drivers of this offense.
6:45The other note on the Cowboys, too, their fantasy playoff schedule looks really nice.
6:49They play at the Rams in week 15. That's a good defense, but at least it's an indoor game.
6:55Could be a shootout. Then they're home for the Jags and home for the Giants in week 16 and 17.
7:00So there won't be any weather concerns in those games.
7:03So, again, I don't think there's any big values among Cowboys in ADP, but it's definitely a team I want pieces of,
7:09especially in these best ball tournaments, you know, where it's so back-weighted to those final few weeks.
7:14Yeah, that makes sense to me. You know, I guess if I see a value there, it might be Dak because he's
7:20going a little bit later amongst the quarterbacks. You know, you would expect with an offense like this that he might be
7:26one of the, you know, top half dozen quarterbacks, and we just aren't really seeing that right now.
7:32Yeah, I mean, the only thing with Dak is he's not going to give you much on the ground, so you're kind
7:38of relying on the big passing volume and big passing efficiency.
7:41I think he's going to give that to us, but I guess I just don't see, you know, upside like into the
7:47top five quarterbacks, at least unlikely for him to finish at high because of the lack of rushing.
7:52But, again, he's a real easy stack in basketball tournaments because you know a ton of the targets are going to go to C.D.
7:59Lamb and George Pickens. Yeah, totally makes sense. And also I thought it kind of interesting that T.
8:04Higgins has finally, at least for me finally, dropped into a range where I'm actually willing to draft him the past few years.
8:10Seems like he's been propped up into that, you know, definitely top, you know, third round for sure.
8:15Sometimes even second round depending on your format. You know, and now we see him dropping back a few rounds.
8:21Do you see T. as being a real value or no?
8:24Yeah, I think he's the best value among Bengals, right?
8:27Because, again, this is another offense. Obviously, Joe Burrow is what he is.
8:31Chase Brown, I think, is fairly priced in the middle of round two.
8:34Jamar Chase is what he is. But T. Higgins is a guy that was going, yeah, I think at the 2-3 turn last year.
8:41I don't really see a difference in outlook this season.
8:44You know, you're just kind of hoping for Joe Burrow to stay healthy.
8:47Now he's going around later, you know, more closer to the 3-4 turn.
8:51So T. Higgins is a guy. I've liked T.
8:54Higgins for a long, long time. I think people will get scared out just by the fact that he's not his team's number one wide receiver.
9:01But that's not important. What's important is the target share he's going to garner, which is going to be in that 20% range.
9:07And then this Bengals offense, super bankable. We know this is going to be one of, if not the pass-heaviest offenses in the NFL.
9:14And this fantasy environment score backs that up, right?
9:17They have a high implied total. Their defense is sort of projected to be meddling.
9:21They're going to be in plenty of shootouts. So Bengals, like the Cowboys, just a super safe offense to invest in.
9:27Yeah, exactly. We're always looking for those fantasy carnivals where it's, you know, bad defense, good offense.
9:32Offense has to keep scoring to keep up with the defense.
9:35Keeps the passing game chugging along, which is where we get the most fantasy points out of.
9:39And hopefully keeps the running game a little bit on the shelf as long as the outcome is in doubt.
9:45So I think it's also fairly unsurprising that if we scroll down to the bottom, we get the Jets and the Browns as being our worst two.
9:53And by a pretty significant margin. I mean, you know, basically the Jets and the Browns are a full point below the
9:59Raiders, who are like three quarters of a point below the Dolphins.
10:02You know, so we're looking at three pretty bad offenses there.
10:05Are you avoiding all of them pretty much altogether?
10:08Or are you are there certain players you're targeting and why?
10:11Yeah, I think these fantasy environment scores and these implied points per game for these offenses should at least be a warning
10:17that, you know, these guys might have lower floors and probably don't have as high ceilings as some of the guys, you
10:23know, going in similar ranges of drafts that are just going to be in higher scoring offenses.
10:28I will say with the Jets, I was surprised to see them tied for the lowest implied points per game.
10:34And I'm not saying I think this is going to be a great offense, but I would bet on them outscoring, you
10:40know, at least like like Cleveland, Miami. I think, you know, the Jets just have more talent.
10:45They have I still consider Gina like, you know, at least an NFL caliber quarterback.
10:49Like I think he's going to be a big upgrade for what they had last year.
10:53They have they have weapons. I think the offensive line has some potential.
10:57So I'm a little I'm a little higher on the Jets than these lines would suggest.
11:02And I think betting against the Vegas Lions generally doesn't go well.
11:05Like, you know, these guys that are making these know what they're doing.
11:09So I don't want to get to, you know, I know better on this stuff.
11:13But I do think the Jets will be a bit better than their score comes in here.
11:18Garrett Wilson's probably my favorite target, at least among the primary Jets pieces.
11:21I think the price on Brees Hall has gotten a bit aggressive for me.
11:25You know, going I'm seeing going in the early third round pretty consistently at this point.
11:30And I'm generally leaning towards wide receivers in that range of drafts.
11:33But I think Garrett Wilson, maybe the target share comes down a little now that he has more target target competition with the two rookies there.
11:40A.D. Mitchell, you know, in his first full season with the Jets.
11:44But I still think you're going to see Garrett Wilson pretty easily, you know, control targets for the Jets offense.
11:49And I do think the offense will be a bit better than we saw last year.
11:54Yeah, I would certainly hope so. And, you know, I think it's an important caveat that, you know, while you say that
12:00betting against Vegas is pretty much, you know, it's kind of a losing strategy overall.
12:04But one thing that we do know is that there are going to be surprise teams because there are every year.
12:10We know, you know, Vegas doesn't know everything. They can't predict everything.
12:14And so I think, you know, what, you know, kind of the way I use this is I take a look at
12:20this and I go, OK, you know, here's how Vegas is looking at it, you know, from several different angles as far
12:26as, you know, the implied scores, all that. But also, you know, sometimes we're diving into it.
12:31You know, they're setting their lines basically for the general betting public because they're trying to, you know, get action mostly even
12:37or, you know, maybe they might even be trying to push action on one side where they think the other side is the better bet.
12:44So we can't necessarily say that these are, you know, it's not like this is a locked in future or anything like that.
12:50So, you know, I'm definitely taking my bets. But Cleveland, I think you're probably with me that Cleveland is probably the least attractive environment.
12:57And this is what shows. Are you in on Judkins or Fannin at all at their price?
13:02Those are basically the two most expensive Browns. Yeah, I'm with you on the Browns being the least attractive offense in fantasy.
13:08They have the third lowest implied points per game based on the Vegas lines.
13:12I'd bet on them. I'd bet on them finishing below the Jets.
13:15Judkins, I'm pretty much out on. I just I don't want what I think is going to be pretty close to a two down back.
13:22I think you look at what Dylan Sampson did in the passing game last year.
13:27You look at Todd Munkin's history. He tends to favor using two backs.
13:30You know, one is a primary early down ball carrier and one pass catching back.
13:35I think we're going to see that in Cleveland this year.
13:38So I think Judkins, as talented as he might be, is just going to be a two down back on a bad offense.
13:44It's going to be trailing a whole lot. It's just not interesting to me.
13:48Harold Fannin is the guy I'm targeting if I'm targeting any Brown.
13:51I think his price has come down to a spot where he's actually a pretty good value.
13:56I think people are scared off a bit by the fact that they added those two rookie wide receivers.
14:02But to me, like I think Harold Fannin is a bigger issue for those two rookie wide receivers than vice versa.
14:07Right. Like Harold Fannin, historic final college season, then comes out as a rookie.
14:11He scores the fourth most PPR points per game by a rookie tight end since 2000.
14:16That's just a profile I want to bet on, even if we don't think this offense is going to be good.
14:22So Harold Fannin, now that he's going, you know, eighth, ninth round in a lot of these best ball drafts, I think he's a pretty nice value there.
14:30Yeah, I think him and Concepcion kind of turn into the easy buttons on this offense when they're looking for, you know,
14:36just trying to get the ball down the field.
14:38Yeah. Especially if we're talking about garbage time, you know, the defense is going to let Cleveland have those kind of short, easy completions, I think.
14:46You know, and I've been on Concepcion in Boston late just because of the price is super cheap.
14:51You know, and it's just sort of one of those, you never knows.
14:54Denzel Boston has been, he ripped up mini camp, it sounds like.
14:58And, you know, so I'm willing to speculate on that.
15:01But, you know, again, you're taking these players in ranges where it doesn't really matter, you know, if they do good or not, if they don't do well.
15:08You know, just throw them back in and move on if you're talking about redraft.
15:13The Raiders are the one team that is kind of interesting to me because, you know, while they're basically in 30th place
15:19here, they have two players going in round one of FFPC drafts anyway.
15:23Any thoughts on that with Brock Bowers and Ashton Gentry going so high?
15:26Yeah, I mean, this is pretty much the same spot we were in last year, right?
15:31Because, I mean, Brock Bowers and Ashton Gentry were going in similar spots last year.
15:35And this Raiders offense was around the same spot and implied, you know, points.
15:39And I didn't do fantasy environment score last year, but I assume they would have been near the bottom of the league in that as well.
15:46So I will say, you know, so the Raiders are implied for 19.1 points per game, which is one of the lowest marks in the league.
15:53That's still five more points per game than they averaged last year.
15:57They were at 14.2 points per game last year, just an abysmal offense.
16:00So the lines are telling us this offense will be better.
16:04I'm with that. I think, you know, Clint Kubiak coming there, the offensive line got some upgrades and Tyler Linderbaum, hopefully Colton Miller has a healthy season.
16:11So this should at least be like maybe the 24th best O-line instead of the 32nd best O-line as it was last year.
16:18And then, of course, with the Raiders, it's going to be super concentrated.
16:21I mean, I think Ashton Gentry could flirt with the league lead in total touches.
16:25I mean, maybe the offense won't be good enough to get him there.
16:29But in terms of like share of a backfield, I think Gentry's going to be right near the top of the league.
16:35And then Brock Bowers, I mean, his target share ceiling goes as high as you want to think.
16:40I mean, he could get 30% of these teams targets and I would not be surprised.
16:45So I think you're still counting on volume fueling these guys more than efficiency.
16:49And I think both guys are okay where they're going because they're talented enough and because that volume should be there.
16:55Yeah. And, you know, we've got a new coaching staff.
16:58We've got a new quarterback who hopefully will be playing better because the offensive line should definitely be better with Colton Miller
17:04coming back and then Tyler Linderbaum manning the center position.
17:07I think that's going to help with protections a lot and also help create some running lanes for Gentry.
17:12So I've been in on both of those players.
17:14I do like probably Gentry a little bit better where he's going.
17:18Bowers and FFPC, I mean, you know, you basically got to use a mid-round first on him.
17:23And, you know, I definitely want some shares of Bowers, but I don't want to get over crazy on him either.
17:28How about, like, in Miami? Do you think there – I call it the Miami maelstrom of the Malyze because it just
17:35looks really bleak in Miami to me. How do you feel about A-chan with, you know, the general state of the Miami offense?
17:41Yeah, I'm generally avoiding A-chan at cost. I don't think he's super mispriced.
17:45I think, you know, he's pretty consistently dropped into, you know, the early to mid-second round.
17:49I think that's kind of reasonable. He's still – he's just – he's not a guy I'm worried about having like a,
17:55you know, had-to-have-em type season where if you didn't draft Devon A-chan, you're not going to win your fans.
18:01I just don't think there's that type of upside in this offense.
18:04Because, you know, on top of the quarterback concerns with Malik Willis and just how much they're going to throw, A-chan also lost Mike McDaniel.
18:11That's the reason we're so excited about all these Chargers.
18:14Five points per game in fantasy environment score will confirm that this is not expected to be a good offense.
18:20I will say with A-chan, though, a couple things.
18:22I mean, one, he's an awesome player, which is always tough to bet against.
18:26I mean, he led all qualifying running backs last year in yards per carry, yards after contact per attempt.
18:31He was fifth in rush yards over expected per attempt.
18:34So he's an awesome runner. We know he's an awesome pass catcher.
18:38I also just recently looked at how mobile quarterbacks impact running back target share, kind of expecting to find that, you know,
18:44as quarterback rush attempts go up, running back target share goes down.
18:47That's kind of, you know, the general feeling among fantasy players.
18:50Actually, it's not the case. There's very little correlation between mobile quarterbacks and running back target share.
18:55Now, running back targets in general decrease with mobile quarterbacks just because passing volume as a whole decreases, but target share does not.
19:02And you look at the rest of this Dolphins pass catching core, and there's not much there to get excited about.
19:07So I do still think A-chan is going to be a guy who gets at least 15% of this team's targets, maybe up to 20%.
19:14So, you know, again, I think he's fine where he's going, but I'd rather have Ken Walker.
19:19I'd rather have Saquon Barkley. Or I'd rather have, you know, A.J.
19:23Brown or Drake London, you know, in that early second round range.
19:26So I'm just not getting a whole lot of A-chan.
19:29Yeah, that totally makes sense. And, you know, so basically it sounds like with A-chan, you're thinking possibly a larger share of
19:35a smaller pie as far as the receptions and targets.
19:38Are you worried about Willis stealing rushing volume, or do you think that they're just going to be running enough more that it really won't matter?
19:45Yeah, kind of the same deal, I guess, in the opposite direction.
19:48I think A-chan's carry share might decrease, but I think Miami's rushing volume might increase.
19:53I mean, I think this team wants to run as much as they can.
19:57Now, again, it's going to be a bad team, so they're going to find themselves down in plenty of second halves.
20:03And, you know, what's that going to mean to the rushing volume?
20:06We also do know that mobile quarterbacks tend to help running back rushing efficiency, which it's tough to imagine A-chan improving much
20:12there, especially with the loss of Mike McDaniel. But you could see Malik Willis' mobility open up some additional running lanes for A-chan.
20:19Yeah, that totally makes sense. All right, we're going to take a quick break here.
20:23And when we come back, we're going to find out if Jared has any teams that surprised him in either a good or a bad way.
20:30You know, the original player profile was just my podcasting tool that I made available to the public so that you could
20:36follow along and look up the stats while I'm looking them up and talking about them on the show.
20:42Then you're asking, well, I want to dominate my drafts.
20:44I want to know what you know about Josh Downs and Trey Harris and Jalen Coker.
20:49So that's why we have the world-famous draft kit.
20:51The key team insights, the player breakdowns, and the key stats that you need to know, like vacated targets, vacated touches, all
20:58there available to you with cheat sheets for every format and interactive drafting as you draft the players fly off the board.
21:04And this year, for the first time, I am publishing my personal draft cheat sheet during draft season as well as Bradley's.
21:10And when you sign up for the all-in package, you get $25 off with Code Podfather.
21:15Code Podfather, $25 off. The world-famous draft kit is now live.
21:18It is ready. It is complete. So go grab it and dominate your drafts.
21:22Okay, and we are back. So, Jared, before we get off the environment scores, did you find any teams that were surprising
21:28to you, either in a good way or a bad way?
21:31Yeah, I have a few. I have two teams that surprised me, coming in a bit higher than expected and one lower than expected.
21:38The first is the Packers, who came in eighth in fantasy environment score.
21:41They're also eighth in implied points per game, higher than I would have guessed.
21:45And the Packers also have the ninth best projected point differential.
21:48Again, they're projected to have a strong offense, strong defense.
21:51They're favored in a lot of games. To me, that's all good news for Josh Jacobson.
21:56I know he's not a fun guy to click.
21:58He's getting up there. He has potentially some off-field concerns, although it seems like he's probably going to escape suspension this season.
22:04But to me, when this guy's healthy, we know what this Packers offense wants to be.
22:09They want to be a ball control, run-leaning offense.
22:11Again, the defense is going to be good this season, especially after they get Micah Parsons back, whenever that happens.
22:17So I've been drafting quite a bit of Josh Jacobs now that he's going in round four.
22:22Yeah, that totally makes sense. I kind of think of him as a little bit of a discount James Cook in that,
22:28you know, so far the targets haven't been a huge part of his game.
22:32But, you know, he does get the lion's share of the rushing work and, you know, pretty much all of the touchdowns on the ground.
22:39He doesn't even have, you know, like James Cook has Josh Allen to deal with as far as touchdowns go.
22:45And, you know, for rushing Jordan Love, while he's capable, he's no Josh Allen.
22:48So really like that. Who else did you have?
22:51Yeah, so the Colts. And I think there's kind of like a mixed message with the Colts.
22:56So they're 11th in fantasy environment score. They're 16th in implied points per game.
23:00But the Colts are projected to allow the fifth most points per game.
23:03They're favored in just 10 of their 17 games.
23:06So these Vegas lines are kind of telling us this team is probably going to take a step back after it got
23:12off to such a hot start last year. Potentially this team finds itself trailing in more games, as it did over the
23:18second half of last season once they, you know, lost Daniel Jones.
23:22So to me, that's a bit worrisome for Jonathan Taylor, who we know, you know, kind of at least wants that positive
23:28game script to have the big fantasy games because he'll contribute in the passing game.
23:32But, you know, he makes his money with the rushing production.
23:35So a bit worried about JT. And then this, you know, the fantasy environment score and the implied points per game and
23:41the fact that the Colts are projected to allow the fifth most points has me a bit more interested in the passing game.
23:48I think Tyler Warren, especially. I think, you know, Colson Lovelland gets a lot of hype, as he should.
23:53We're going to talk about him a bit later.
23:56But I think Tyler Warren had an excellent rookie season.
23:58He was an excellent prospect. And if this Colts team does find itself trailing more this season and is throwing more passes,
24:05I think you could see Tyler Warren have a really big season.
24:08Yeah, I'm with you there. You know, the only thing that holds me back from that passing game is just, you know,
24:14what kind of condition is Daniel Jones' Achilles in?
24:17And, you know, how much is it affecting the passing game?
24:20Because other than that, I'm with you. I think it looks like wheels up here for the passing game.
24:25What else? Yeah, the last one is one on the negative side.
24:29And one I'm trying to just ignore because I love the Jags offense this season.
24:33I think, you know, the offense was good last year.
24:36It was even better over the second half of the season and down the stretch.
24:40Now you're heading into year two under Liam Cohen.
24:42But these, you know, Vegas Lions, the Jags are just 14th in fantasy environment score.
24:47And they're just 18th in implied points per game.
24:49I mean, that'd be a huge drop from where they finished last year, how many points per game they averaged last year.
24:55So this is what I'm kind of wrestling with, like what to do with the Jags because we have them high in our rankings.
25:02I've been drafting a ton of Trevor Lawrence. I've been mixing in the wide receivers, you know, especially in best ball.
25:08But, you know, the Vegas stuff, this is definitely a spot like you said, Dan.
25:12And I want to kind of bet against Vegas and say they're wrong here.
25:16And this Jags offense is going to be quite a bit better than, you know, how they have projected.
25:21Yeah, that definitely makes sense. You know, and one of the things I really like about this concept that you came up
25:28with is it really pulls in strength of schedule in a way that we can measure a little bit better other than
25:34just kind of, you know, looking at a schedule and going, oh, well, gosh, that's a hard schedule or, oh, gosh, this is an easy schedule.
25:41So, you know, this puts a little bit more into it as far as, you know, both how can this offense do against this defense?
25:48And, you know, are they likely to be high scoring games or low scoring games?
25:52You know, because the Jaguars could end up in a lot more low scoring games this year just because they have a
25:59decent defense and they're playing a bunch of decent offenses.
26:01But, again, I'm with you. I do like the Jag offense more than what this ranking seems to.
26:06And I'm with you. I think it's totally okay that, you know, we say, hey, this is a place where I want to place my bet against Vegas.
26:14So we'll do that. Moving on, let's talk a little bit about general draft strategy.
26:18Every year, Jared, I think, you know, it kind of changes how we handle the quarterback position.
26:23You know, we're always looking at quarterback. And, you know, some years it seems like they get pushed way up.
26:29Other years it seems like they get pushed way back.
26:32This year it seems like Josh Allen is a consensus number one.
26:35And after that, quarterback is a little bit cheaper this year than last year.
26:39Is that doing anything to the way that you're handling the position?
26:42Yeah, I mean, fantasy drafters remain reactionary. I think we've gotten smarter as a community and not overweighting what we saw last year.
26:49But it's still happening with the elite quarterbacks this year.
26:52It was a down year for that cohort in general.
26:54I mean, mostly because of injuries, right? I mean, Lamar Jackson had injuries.
26:58Jaden Daniels' season was basically awash because of injuries.
27:01So these guys are just cheaper in general. So I'm definitely drafting more high-end quarterbacks this year than I was last year,
27:07kind of taking advantage of this discount. Drake May and Jalen Hurts are my two favorite targets, you know, among those elite quarterbacks.
27:13They're generally available in round five or six in a lot of these drafts.
27:17I mean, Drake May was quarterback three in fantasy points per game last year.
27:21In his second NFL season, in his first season in Josh McDaniels' offense with a pretty mediocre supporting cast.
27:27Now he has another year of experience in that offense.
27:29He adds A.J. Brown. He adds Romeo Dobbs. The offensive line has some young pieces that, you know, at least hopefully are better in year two.
27:37You know, May gives you sneaky rushing ability. So Drake May is my favorite target in terms of high-end quarterbacks.
27:42And I like Jalen Hurts, too. I mean, he's just a bet on this offense being better now that they have Sean Manning in there.
27:49I think, you know, hopefully a legitimate offensive coordinator.
27:52I know they obviously lose A.J. Brown, but they add a couple rookie weapons.
27:56So there's still plenty of weaponry here. I still think Jalen Hurts is going to give you a ton of rushing production on the ground.
28:03I mean, even last year, Hurts finished quarterback seven in fantasy points per game.
28:07That's where he's going in drafts right now. So I think he's basically being drafted at his floor.
28:12Yeah. It seemed like the media spent most of the offseason beating up Jalen Hurts, and it's kind of been reflected in his fantasy ranking, ADP.
28:19And, you know, one of the things I like is the fact that he just didn't score that many rushing touchdowns last
28:25year, and that's probably going to, you know, head a little bit back towards normal this year.
28:30How about the tight end position? What kinds of things are you doing there?
28:34Tight end is always one that we always think there's a ton of tight ends until the season starts.
28:39And then, you know, it's like, oh, yeah, I guess there's only two or three after all.
28:44Yeah, I think that's right. And that's why I think Colson Loveland, it starts there for me at tight end.
28:50And I love Brock Bowers. I love Trey McBride.
28:52But there is a huge opportunity cost to taking those guys if you're talking, you know, mid round one or late round
28:58one in FFPC or, you know, late second to early third in, you know, these underdog drafts or these non-tight end premium drafts.
29:05That's a tough price to pay. Whereas, you know, Colson Loveland, you can still generally get him in round four, at least
29:11in, you know, the non-tight end premium. And I think the quality of running backs and wide receivers going in that range,
29:17I'm just I'm less scared to pass those guys up for Loveland, who I think at this time next year, we could
29:23be talking about Colson Loveland right alongside Brock Bowers and Trey McBride, both as a real life talent and a fantasy producer.
29:30I mean, you just look at Loveland. He checks every box, right?
29:33He was a really strong prospect. He had good production at Michigan.
29:36He goes 10th overall. He was super efficient throughout his rookie season.
29:40He was top six among 38 qualifying tight ends in both yards per route and targets per route.
29:45So he was producing on a per route basis all year long.
29:48Then he finally gets the full-time role over the final few games of the regular season into the playoffs and puts up huge numbers.
29:55Now he heads into his second season, Ben Johnson's second season, Cale Williams' third season.
29:59This offense is on the ascent. And I think Colson Loveland is really going to be the engine of the passing game.
30:05Yeah, I really like the Loveland bet there, too.
30:08He's a player that I was actively moving to try to acquire in Dynasty over the offseason.
30:13Last year in rookie drafts, he was a player that I was targeting heavily.
30:17You know, it really took most of the year for him to finally start paying off.
30:21But, you know, that's the way it goes with tight ends a lot of times.
30:25We don't always see our bet pay off in year one.
30:28But if we're patient, things can work out well.
30:31The one tight end that I've really had trouble clicking is Trey McBride just because of, you know, the opportunity cost there.
30:37And really his run out last year, I think, was just like, I think it's quite possible that last year ends up being his career year.
30:44Just he had so many more routes run, so many more targets.
30:48You know, he got, what was it, 11 touchdowns.
30:50I mean, it just, everything broke completely right for him.
30:53And I have a hard time seeing that this year, especially if we see Carson Beck get in there and play quarterback for a meaningful number of games.
31:01And that could be happening during the fantasy playoffs, too, which is something we don't want to see.
31:06Because, you know, Jacoby Brissett, he relentlessly targets tight ends.
31:09And, you know, unless Beck does the same thing, and unless Beck can throw as well as Brissett, you're probably looking at a huge downgrade here.
31:16Yeah, I'm with you. I'm not getting much Trey McBride.
31:19That was just an outlier season for that entire Cardinals offense.
31:22We can look at how many times they threw the ball.
31:25Even over the second half of the season, Marvin Harrison Jr.
31:28was not healthy for most of that stretch. And he's back now.
31:32Michael Wilson broke out during that time Harrison was out.
31:35We'll see how big of a role he plays.
31:37They add Jeremiah Love. He's, you know, both probably is going to push the Cardinals to at least want to run the
31:43ball more than even when they do pass. You know, it loves just another target competition for Trey McBride.
31:49I mean, the one thing I will say for Trey McBride is that he has established himself as kind of like a
31:5525% target share guy because that's where he was last year.
31:58That's where he was in 2024. That's even where he was over the second half of 2023.
32:03So, like, he has established himself as a high-end target earner.
32:06So, I don't think his target share is going to sink a whole lot.
32:10It'll probably sink a bit just because of those, you know, extra bodies in Arizona.
32:14But just the passing volume in general is coming down for the Cardinals.
32:18And like you said, Danny, this could just be a totally dead offense over the final couple months of the season that
32:24we just don't want anything to do with. Yeah, that makes sense.
32:27And that's a good point about his target share staying pretty consistent because that is, I think, one of the things that,
32:33you know, we can carry year over year tends to be a little bit more sticky.
32:38So, hopefully for the McBride drafters, that continues to be the case.
32:41And I think there's a good chance it will.
32:44Any lessons, Jared, that you learned from last year that you're bringing into this year?
32:48Yeah, so this is one I still want to flesh out a little bit.
32:52I'm actually hoping to write an article for DraftSharks on this sometime within the next month if I can find some time.
32:58But it's about the shifting wide receiver landscape in the NFL.
33:01And this kind of goes along with all the, you know, two tight end and three tight end stuff you've been hearing.
33:07Just a few years on average, the team's number three wide receivers and even team's number two wide receivers, their fantasy production is down.
33:14The true alpha number one wide receivers, it's a pretty small list.
33:17It's the, you know, the Pukas, the JSNs, the Amon Ross St.
33:21Browns. Those guys are at least, their production is at least flat from where it's been.
33:25And in some cases, it's even up from where it's been over the past few seasons.
33:30So that just makes them way more valuable, right?
33:32Because the gap between, you know, those top guys and that, you know, middle tier has just grown.
33:37So that has me, that has me going wide receiver heavier early in drafts than the market.
33:42You know, what we're seeing, you know, early round running backs make a resurgence this year.
33:47We talked about how this happened with quarterbacks, how the high end guys disappointed so they're cheaper.
33:51High end running backs delivered last year and people are reacting to that and drafting them, you know, more and more in
33:58the first and second round, but I'm, I'm kind of leaning in the other direction.
34:02I do still like to get at least, you know, one high end guy in the first two rounds, but, you know,
34:08give me, give me the Pukas chase, you know, Amon Ross St.
34:11Brown at fifth or sixth overall. Like I, I like getting those elite, elite wide receivers.
34:16Yeah, that totally makes sense to me. And I, you know, I, I've kind of noticed the same thing as far as,
34:22uh, you know, the wide receivers, the elite guys are still just as elite as they ever were.
34:27But where we see is the secondary and tertiary targets.
34:30It's, uh, there's a lot more variability to, to their scores, you know, and it, it, it seems to me that we're
34:36seeing, you know, more four or five, six point games and, you know, the occasional 18, 19 point game rather than a
34:42lot of games that are more in the, you know, eight to 13 point range or something like that.
34:48Is it, is that something you've seen? Yeah, for sure.
34:50And again, it really comes back to the playing time, right?
34:54If teams are playing more tight ends on passing downs, you're just getting fewer routes out of these wide receivers and it's
35:00not, it's not fewer routes from those top guys, right?
35:03I mean, Jamar chase is not coming off the field.
35:05I'm on Ross St. Brown's not coming off the field, but it's those, you know, third wide receivers, especially and in some
35:12cases, even the second wide receivers who just aren't playing as much.
35:15And that's just going to make their scoring more volatile from week to week.
35:19Yeah, it totally makes sense. And obviously the best time to, uh, be playing zero running back or hero running back is
35:25when everybody else is going robust running back. Exactly.
35:28Cause that gives you the chance to get more, you know, it'll, it'll push some really good receivers down a little bit.
35:34And so you can pick up that extra one or maybe even two great wide receivers than you can normally get, uh,
35:40in the early rounds and then pivot over to running back.
35:43So I like that a lot. Uh, that's, that's something that I've been definitely playing around with some too.
35:48You know, I've got, I've got some robust teams.
35:51I've got some hero teams and, but I've got quite a few that are also, uh, zero running back or, you know, something close to it anyway.
35:59I don't know if they would be technically, you know, according to the Sean Siegel definition, zero running back.
36:04Yeah. You can get, you can get three top 12, uh, top 12 wide receivers this year in drafts, you know, fairly
36:10easily, but you just really couldn't do the last couple of years.
36:13Yeah, exactly. And that's a, that's, that's, that's a lot of fun too.
36:17So, okay. Um, just moving into the news, um, big news on Alvin Kamara taking, uh, sounds like a pay cut.
36:23Um, how does that affect your views on him and, uh, Travis ETN?
36:27Are you adjusting the ranks on that or was it already kind of baked in?
36:31Yeah, it was mostly baked in on Kamara for us.
36:34Um, you know, I, I don't think New Orleans really wanted him back.
36:37I think they were kind of hoping he just retired, but if you look at his contract, it would have cost the
36:44saints about 18 million in dead cap space to either cut or trade him.
36:47I don't think there was much of a trademark for Alvin Kamara at this point.
36:52And so it seems like they just, you know, kind of became resigned to the fact that, you know, Alvin Kamara is going to be back this season.
37:00They did, like you said, Dan, get him to agree to what I think was a pay go.
37:05I don't think we've seen the exact details yet, but I assume he took a pretty big cut to stay there.
37:11Um, I, I have no interest in Alvin Kamara.
37:13Um, he just looks super wash. You look at any advanced metrics, he was near the bottom of the league and both rushing and receiving metrics.
37:20I mean, he was 36th among 40 running backs in yards per out run last year.
37:25And, you know, that's like a Kamara calling card.
37:27He's been so good in the passing game for so long, but he wasn't even effective there last year.
37:33I do. I do think it's at least slightly bad news for Travis HN, like more competition in the backfield is not a good thing.
37:40Again, I don't think Kamara is going to play a huge role, especially on the ground.
37:44I think maybe he, he does plan some passing down, steals some targets from HN, but, um, he wasn't a guy I was super interested in anyways.
37:52I think, um, his advanced metrics last year were not super impressive.
37:55I think he was mostly a product of that Liam Cohen offense.
37:59Um, we'll see what happens to HN's price. Now, if he starts getting into, you know, round five, say, because of this
38:05Kamara news, that's when I might start to take some shots on him.
38:08Yeah, definitely. Uh, yeah, I tweeted out yesterday. I think, you know, here it comes probably a 30% cut in his, uh, ADP.
38:15Um, you know, and I, I think it's going to go down some, it, it will be interesting to see how far it goes down.
38:22Yep. Um, and I also, I noticed you're, uh, you've made the conversion over to HN.
38:26I'm still working on that one. I asked like clicking my brain right before I say it.
38:31Like I wanted to say ETN multiple times there, but I'm, I'm, I'm trying.
38:35You're doing well. You're doing well. You're, you're beating me on that one for sure.
38:39So, um, it, it, it also, uh, news came out yesterday.
38:42It looks like, uh, Patrick Mahomes is on track to play week one, allegedly.
38:46Um, you know, it, it's been kind of running that way for a while, but, uh, where do you have them slotted amongst your quarterbacks?
38:53And pulling up our rankings right now, I mean, we, we've had him projected for 17 games for a while now.
38:59Um, but he is still just quarterback 14 for us actually tied with bone next for quarterback 13 and 14, um, which
39:06I think is still a bit lower than he is in ADP.
39:09Um, you know, my homes was good in fantasy last year.
39:12It was largely because of his rushing production. 22% of my homes fantasy points last year came via rushing.
39:17He had never hit 13% prior to last year as a passer.
39:21It's still, it still just wasn't very good. Um, he actually set career lows last year in a ton of categories, completion
39:27rate, adjusted completion rate on target throw percentage, all career lows for my homes.
39:31I said, listen, I still think he's a great quarterback, but the chiefs didn't, they didn't do anything to improve his supporting cast.
39:37They're hoping to get a healthy and, you know, uh, quiet off field season from, from Rasheed Rice.
39:42I think they're hoping for a healthier season and more productive season from Xavier worthy.
39:47But I still have concerns about the supporting cast around Patrick Mahomes.
39:50And I don't think he's going to give us anywhere near the level of rushing he did last year coming off that knee injury.
39:57Yeah. I think that's really fair to say on the rushing and, uh, you know, also, uh, you know, with Rasheed Rice
40:03with his, you know, potential issues legally, uh, you know, because he he's already gone to jail once, uh, for 30 days,
40:09you know, and it sounds like if there's any more screw ups, it's going to be, you know, right back to jail again.
40:16Um, that type of thing. And he's had plenty of trouble staying healthy over the past couple of years as well.
40:21Um, I don't know if I'm ready to call him injury prone, but, uh, I'm certainly not going to call him resilient at this point.
40:28So, you know, if, and when you're looking at a number one receiver like that, uh, that's in that condition, you've got,
40:35uh, Travis Kelsey, who's, you know, 38 years or 36 years old.
40:38And, you know, he's, he, he's clearly on the decline in Xavier worthy, who still hasn't amounted to anything.
40:43You know, it's, it's tough to look at this passing game and go, yeah, my homes is going to be just fine.
40:50Um, he's, he's definitely been a player I've been fading.
40:52Um, another injured player, George Kittle also might be on track for week one.
40:56They're saying, are you buying that news or, or do you think that's more hype than, uh, anything?
41:01I'm, I'm buying the news that he might be ready for week one.
41:05I think the whole, uh, uh, playing an Australia thing probably will keep Kittle off the field for week one, but right
41:11now we haven't projected back for week two. So we have just, just missing that first game.
41:16And Kittle is someone I'm buying. Um, I think at his cost, I'm just looking at her now, you know, he's still
41:22going in the 10th round in underdog basketball drafts.
41:25He's going in the eighth round and FFPC, which again is tight end premium.
41:29I just think he's worth the risk at that cost.
41:31I mean, how many guys have the type of upside that George Kittle does going in that range of drafts, even if he's 90% of what he was.
41:39Um, and this is, you know, these injuries got injured guys.
41:42They should be healthier as they get later in the season.
41:45And we know, you know, there's late season season games mean so much more for fantasy than the early season ones do.
41:52And, you know, Kittle was still awesome last year.
41:54He was tight on three and fantasy points per game.
41:57He was tight on four and yards per out run.
42:00He was tight on one in PFF receiving grade.
42:02So there was no decline last year. Again, you know, coming off the Achilles, it's obviously a big deal.
42:08Maybe he's never the same player again, but I'm just, I'm just willing to take the chance on him at his current cost for, for the ceiling.
42:15Yeah, I'm right there with you. Kittle is a guy I've been pretty happy to, to take this discount on and see
42:21what happens because he's going at an area of the draft.
42:25If you know what, if you're wrong, it's, it's not a big deal.
42:28Um, you know, you, you can survive this and, you know, especially in managed leagues, uh, you know, there's always a tight
42:34end or two that pops during the course of the season.
42:38And, you know, when you can get a guy like, uh, you know, a Dalton Schultz ridiculously late in drafts who, you
42:44know, is going to have a nice solid floor, you know, even if Kittle isn't ready exactly week one, you've got time
42:50to, you know, to let him round into shape.
42:52So, uh, love that, love the kiddo idea there.
42:55How about, uh, Sam Laporta, any concerns with that back injury?
42:58Yeah, I'm, I'm treating it as a non-issue. Um, the, the news has been kind of light on it.
43:03I know he, he did a little, uh, this spring and I, it seems like he's on track to be ready to go for training camp.
43:11So I, I don't have any like injury docs on Laporta at this point.
43:15He's someone I'll definitely mix in from time to time in drafts.
43:18You know, I I'm generally like, give me Colson Loveland or I'm waiting for that.
43:22George Kittle Dalton Kincaid range is my tight end one.
43:25And then probably taking the tight end two shortly thereafter.
43:28But I think Laporta is intriguing where he's going.
43:30Um, you know, he's, he's going well behind Tucker craft.
43:33And I think those guys are pretty similar in outlook.
43:36Um, you know, Laporta was tight on seven last year in PPR points per game before going down with the back injury.
43:42He actually set career highs last year and yards per route and PFF receiving grade.
43:46He was fifth among 49 qualifying tight ends in both of those metrics.
43:50And he's still just 25 years old. I mean, former high second round pick was tight end one in fantasy as a
43:56rookie in 2023 before, you know, dealing with some of these injury issues.
44:00So I could definitely see a pretty nice bounce back season for Sam Laporta.
44:04And we didn't even get into true petzing who, um, you know, it's tough to know how much petzing had to do
44:10with the huge training pride seasons in the last two years.
44:13I think a bread probably would have gone off with or without petzing, but even you go back to 2023, the season
44:19where Zachary started as Arizona's lead tight end and that Cardinals team under petzing finished fifth in total tight end PPR points.
44:25So there might be something to this thing where, you know, petzing could, could be a boost for Sam Laporta.
44:31Wow. That would be incredible. And then, uh, that, that would have to be bad news for Jamison Williamson, right?
44:37Yep. Yeah. And I'm, I'm kind of off Jamison Williams at cost right now.
44:41Um, you know, so you look at JMO last year, he was wide receiver 21 in PPR points per game, but he
44:47was wide receiver 48 in target share. He was wide receiver 38 and expected points per game.
44:52And that all was worse over the first half of the season when Sam Laporta was healthy.
44:56Williams was actually a wide receiver 59 over those first nine games in both target share and expected points per game.
45:02Now, obviously he's a big play guy. He plays in a high scoring offense.
45:06We should expect him to be efficient and outproduce his expected points per game, but man, wide receiver 59 for a guy
45:12who's going, you know, inside the top 30 wide receivers in ADP.
45:16You're, you're really asking a lot in terms of efficiency for Jamison Williams.
45:19So he's a guy I'm mostly fading. He's, he's better in basketball because he's going to give you those spike weeks.
45:25Um, but there's other receivers in that range I would, I would rather have.
45:29Yeah. Makes sense. So, uh, uh, would you be going with, uh, Jamison Williams or, um, who, who, who else in that
45:35range would you be taking over Jamison Williams? Um, and I'm pulling up ADP.
45:39Like, I mean, Devonta Adams, I like over, uh, Jamo looks like he, you know, he's, he's a half round ahead.
45:45Uh, Jalen Waddle and Terry McLaurin in the FFPC, uh, ADP I'm looking at are right next to Jamison Williams.
45:51I like those guys pretty easily over him. I like Mike Evans.
45:54I like Christian Watson over Jamison Williams. Again, there's just, there's just a lot of receivers in that range.
46:00I would rather have. Yeah. It makes sense. Yeah.
46:02I started out going heavy on Watson. And then I kind of switched over to Jamo for a while and I'm back on Watson now.
46:09So it totally makes similar, similar players. I just, I think, I think Watson has a better path to targets this season.
46:15Yeah, you're probably right. Uh, and I, I noticed you were, uh, tweeting a little bit about, um, you know, the, the lions run run game.
46:23Um, you know, we're looking at, they, they've got what they had 400 and some rush attempts last year and over a hundred targets.
46:29Is that right? Yeah. Yep. And so, you know, you get, you got to ask yourself, um, you know, how much of that can Gibbs really handle?
46:37Um, do you think Isaiah Pacheco is up to taking on a David Montgomery role?
46:41Yeah, well, I, I hope so. Cause I've drafted a lot of Isaiah Pacheco.
46:45Um, and I, I, I don't think he's going to get like the old David Montgomery role where he was like a legitimate RB three flex play.
46:53Um, cause if you look at even last year, Jamir Gibbs over the second half of the season, his role increased Montgomery
46:59at that point was more like RB 45 and, and fancy points.
47:02I don't have the exact number in front of me, but he was, he was pretty close to a non factor in
47:09terms of like a managed league fantasy starter. I think that's most likely for Pacheco.
47:13Now I do think in best ball, because his offense is so good and going to score so many points.
47:18I think Pacheco will probably just run into enough touchdowns, you know, four or five, six touchdowns where he's going to, um,
47:25start for you some weeks in, in best ball.
47:27And then the managed leaks to me, he's just a relatively cheap high end handcuff.
47:31Like if they don't add anyone else, which I, I think it's more likely than not.
47:36And if Pacheco enters the season as the clear number two, like at worst, he's a Jamir Gibbs injury away from having
47:42a pretty sizable role in this, you know, top five lines offense.
47:45Yeah, it makes sense. I've been thinking about the lions as possibly a sneaky Najee Harris landing spot.
47:50You think there's a, that that's a possibility. Could be.
47:53I mean, I would not be shocked if they add something because they have nothing behind Pacheco and they only gave Pacheco
47:59a one year deal under $2 million. Now it was all guaranteed.
48:03So I think Pacheco's roster spot is safe, but I think his contract doesn't, you know, stop them from signing another back.
48:09If maybe if they don't like what they see from Pacheco this summer.
48:13Makes sense. How about Jadarian price? Are you in or out on him at current cost?
48:17I'm more out than in on price. Um, and I, I have a few concerns.
48:21Um, one, I think the, the situation just isn't as good as some people think, you know, last year, the Seahawks, despite
48:28having, you know, this super strong season in general, a strong season from the offense, a lot of positive game scripts, the
48:34Seahawks were still just 13th as a team in total running back PPR points.
48:38And the, of course, now they lose Clint Kubiak.
48:40I think the office is going to take a step back.
48:43It's just, it's not going to be as efficient as it was last year.
48:47That'd be very difficult to match. Even if Kubiak was back, it'd be difficult to match their efficiency last year.
48:53I think they're going to take a pretty big hit there without Kubiak.
48:57So I don't think the situation is as good as people think for Jadarian price.
49:01And I'm also worried about the pass catching role.
49:03He has, you know, nothing on his resume in terms of pass catching.
49:07They seems like they like George Helani in that role enough.
49:10They like Zach Charbonnet in their role, obviously, whenever he comes back.
49:13So I just, I don't think price is going to do enough in the passing game to, you know, like hit a ceiling.
49:20That's going to make me regret not having much of them.
49:23Yeah. That's, that's kind of how I look at him too.
49:26I mean, I know there's a lot of people out there, uh, you know, on social media going, you know, how is
49:32George Helani going to stop Jadarian price from doing anything?
49:35And it's, well, you know, he's probably not going to stop price, but all he has to do is just knock him
49:41off the tracks enough to, uh, you know, to make it, you know, where it's, it's either not a good pick or,
49:47you know, at best you're returning value. And that's kind of how I see him as he's a player that I think will at best return value.
49:55Uh, but interesting on the Seahawks, if you're, if you're down on them, are you also, uh, out on JSN at his
50:01current cost or how do you feel about him?
50:04Yeah. I mean, it's tough to say I'm out.
50:06Like if I have the one Oh five, I'm usually just taking JSN to get some of them.
50:11I think you would definitely make an argument for Amon Ross St.
50:15Brown over JSN. I think you could easily make an argument for Christian McCaffrey over JSN.
50:19I mean, McCaffrey is much riskier just because of the age and the injury stuff.
50:23But like if CMC stays healthy again, this season, he's going to be a more valuable fantasy asset for JSN.
50:29So I wouldn't say I'm out on JSN, but I probably am a bit lower than consensus.
50:34Yeah. I think that makes sense. I've definitely been taking ARSB over him, um, a little bit too.
50:39And I think it's a great point that you just brought up about Christian McCaffrey, you know, that it's important that we
50:45look at, um, look at him in terms of not, you know, well, what is the downside, but you know, what is the upside?
50:52Because, you know, if he does stay healthy and, you know, you can have your doubts about that, but you know, if
50:58he's a healthy player for, you know, 16, 17 games, he's probably going to win your league.
51:03For sure. I mean, it's tricky because he's pricier this year than he was last year and he's another year older and is coming off a huge workload.
51:11So like I, I was in on CMC last year and that was obviously awesome.
51:15It's it's that makes it, I think tougher for me to click them just because it's like I'm paying more and the situation might be even riskier.
51:22But I mean, Dan, you're right. If he, if he has a healthy season, he's going to be right there with Gibbs,
51:29with Bijan and you know, he's going to be one of the five most valuable players in fantasy.
51:34Yeah, exactly. So yeah, he's a, he's a player.
51:36I don't love clicking, but I also, uh, you know, it's kind of, you know, eat your vegetables type of player.
51:42Um, you know, you, you, you want to make sure that you have some of them in, uh, in the portfolio for sure.
51:49Um, how, how about some of those running backs coming off Andrew?
51:52You are, we already talked about Judkins, but, uh, Cam Skadabo, you in or out on him?
51:57Yeah. Um, I'm pretty in on Skadabo actually. Um, I, I, he's just, he's just like built a score of fancy points, right?
52:03Like he's, he's a big back that can handle big workloads and goal line work.
52:07And he's a good pass catcher. And that's, that's like the nuts and fancy.
52:11That's what we want our running backs to do.
52:14And we saw it last year in, in his six full games, as the giants lead back, he was the RB five in expected PPR points per game.
52:22He was the RB eight in actual points per game.
52:25And he's sitting RB 19 and 80 pier now.
52:27So I think a lot of the risk with the injury and with the offense in general, which I do have some
52:33concerns with, especially with, you know, Matt Nagy as the offensive coordinator there, I think just a lot of that's built in to the cost.
52:40Um, I think, I think Scadabo could, you know, flirt with RB one production this season.
52:45Yeah, definitely. How about, uh, RJ Harvey? He's picked up some additional competition and we found out, uh, kind of late in
52:51the off season that he was dealing with a shoulder injury.
52:54Does that make you more or less likely to draft him?
52:57Uh, the shoulder is kind of a non issue for me.
53:00It doesn't seem like it's going to be a factor, uh, come, you know, the start of this season.
53:06I'm, I'm more in on JK Dobbins than RJ Harvey though.
53:09I, I kind of think, you know, how many times have we seen these Sean Payton offenses have like the designated pass
53:15catching back and that can obviously be valuable in fantasy, but I think that's kind of the direction Harvey is headed where
53:21he's, you know, maybe going to mix in for a handful of carries per game, but do most of his work in the passing game.
53:28I think, you know, JK Dobbins was awesome last year.
53:31He was fourth in rush yards over expected per attempt last year.
53:34He was top 15 in both yards after contact per attempt and missed tackles forced per attempt.
53:39And then the Broncos go right out and give him that two year, $16 million deal.
53:44He was obviously a priority for them to bring back.
53:46Um, so I think he's, I think Dobbins is going to continue to be the pretty clear lead ball carrier.
53:52And the other thing with Harvey is I'm not even sure how much handcuff value he has.
53:57Cause I think if Dobbins goes down, um, you know, maybe Jonah Coleman doesn't get all of JK Dobbins work, but I
54:03think he kind of steps into that role as the early down grinder and, you know, it takes a lot of those
54:09carries and, you know, Harvey kind of stays in a similar role.
54:13Yeah. Makes sense. I've definitely been in on Dobbins.
54:15I think he's a really easy click where he's going, uh, you know, cause I don't expect him to last the season.
54:21I mean, you know, I think we're kind of resigned to that by this point, but you know, that's, that's pretty valuable
54:27if you can get a half a season or a little bit more out of him, um, you know, at that level
54:34of production, uh, I think he's more than paid off as his purchase price there.
54:38Uh, Bucky Irving is another one that's kind of, um, he, he struggled with injury.
54:42It sounds like he's okay right now. I was a little bit worried when, uh, Todd Bowles was going, well, we'll see
54:48him sometime in the summer or fall, you know, it's like, what?
54:52Um, how, how are you handling Bucky? Are you more Bucky, more Gainwell?
54:55Neither one. What are you thinking? I haven't been drafting a ton of either.
54:59I think they're both kind of fairly priced though.
55:02Um, you know, with Bucky, for me, the concern is less the injuries from last year and more of the fact that
55:08they added kind of Gainwell and return Sean Tucker.
55:10And I think Gainwell is an obvious threat on, in, in, you know, past catching situations.
55:15I think Tucker is an obvious threat at the goal line.
55:18Bucky Irving did not have a single carry inside the five yard line last year.
55:22It was, it was Sean Tucker and Rashad white.
55:25I think it was like 11 to zero in carries inside the five between those two guys and Bucky Irving in, in Bucky Irving's healthy games last season.
55:33So I just, I'm just worried Irving. He's, I think he's a good bet to lead the backfield touches, but like, is
55:39he going to lose past catching work and goal line work?
55:42And again, going back to the scatterboot thing, like that's what we want.
55:46That's what scores fantasy points. I think Irving could have, could have a lot of like empty touches where he's getting 15
55:52touches per game, but they're just not producing a whole lot of fantasy points.
55:56Yeah. Yeah. Totally makes sense. I've, I've been out on him as well.
55:59I've been taking a little bit of Gainwell. Um, his, his price rose for a little bit and I slacked off, but,
56:06um, you know, where, where I'm seeing him drop, uh, he's somebody I'm not afraid to take just because of the, you
56:12know, if Bucky does get hurt, I think that really does benefit Gainwell, uh, more so than Tucker.
56:17Yeah. I think Gainwell's fine where he's going. I think he's kind of the guy who can give you some standalone value and also has that handcuff upside.
56:25Yep. So you're, you're pretty famously in on Devante Adams.
56:28How about Mike Evans? Yeah. I, I honestly, I like them both.
56:31Um, I think Evans just is kind of the obvious candidate to be this year's Devante Adams or this, you know, older guy changes teams.
56:38But I mean, Evans, like Adams is an established elite touchdown producer now joining a team under Kyle Shanahan.
56:43And especially with Brock Purdy, who, you know, Purdy has one of the highest passing touchdown rates among active quarterbacks.
56:49So it's a pretty intriguing combination when you talk about, you know, what Purdy's done and what Evans has done.
56:55I think he, you know, he could score double digit touchdowns.
56:58I would not be surprised at all. Yeah. Yeah.
57:00Totally makes sense to me. Um, I, I think it's a very interesting, uh, receiving core with Kittle, Pierce, all and Evans
57:06all being a little bit injury prone. I think there, you know, there's some risk with all of them, but on the
57:12other hand, if, uh, you know, if any one of them is out, the other two are in, I think that's going to benefit them a lot.
57:20So, you know, I'm, I'm taking my stabs on all three for sure.
57:24Um, how about the rookie wide receivers? Have you been, you know, uh, Carnell Tate, uh, Jordan Tyson, Makai Lemon have been
57:30the, the, you know, the trio of more expensive ones.
57:33Have you been in on any of them at cost?
57:36Uh, Jordan Tyson's definitely my favorite. Um, and it's largely just cause I want to be in on this saints passing game.
57:42I think Kellen Moore consistently runs these high tempo offenses that finished near the top of the league in plays.
57:47We, we saw it again last year with the saints.
57:50I think Tyler shock showed quite a bit over the second half of the season.
57:54I think he could take a step forward in year two and you know, Tyson for, he was my wide receiver one,
58:01like pre-draft and I, I still like him best in dynasty.
58:04And I, I think he's right there with Colonel Tate in, in redraft in terms of, you know, 20, 26 projection and,
58:10uh, Tyson tends to go a bit later. So he, he's definitely my favorite of the three.
58:15You, you and I are thinking exactly like there, Jared.
58:17I'm, I'm glad to hear that. So, um, are there any of the later?
58:21Around rookies that you like a lot, or are they with this down class?
58:25Do you, do you feel like they might not be good bets?
58:29Yeah. There's, there's no one I love. Um, you mentioned Casey Concepciona.
58:32He's probably my favorite among those. Um, I know, no, it's not the first one to make the, the Zay flowers connection
58:38with Todd Bunkin, but I do think Concepciona is, is a similar type of player where I think you said at the
58:44end, he can kind of get some of those easy button targets.
58:48I think they probably want to use them in the running game a bit as well, which is always kind of a,
58:54I think underrated factor for wide receivers. Those guys who can give you, you know, 150, 200 rushing yards, that makes a
59:00big deal over the course of a season. So Concepciona would probably be my favorite, but it's definitely, I think a season
59:06to not go too heavy on the rookie wide receivers.
59:09Yeah. That makes sense to me too. You know, and like I said, I've, I've been in on Boston a little bit,
59:15you know, places where I don't get Concepciona and I might circle back and get Boston.
59:20Um, just on the off chance that, uh, you know, he's not a sacrificial X that he's actually one of those X
59:26receivers that can just go out and, you know, sort of wreck things for the opposing defense.
59:31Um, so he, he's been a little bit fun for me, but, um, I, I do like Concepciona better for sure.
59:37Um, how about let's get you out of here on this.
59:40Um, do you have any players that your projections say are being undervalued in the late rounds of drafts, or maybe they're not even being drafted at all?
59:48Who, who would you recommend that people be drafting more than, uh, or at a higher ADP than what they're going right now?
59:54Yeah, I got three guys. And I think most people are going to think all three of them are gross, which is probably why they're going so late.
60:02Uh, the first is AD Mitchell who I'm still a fan of, and it's, it's two parts of this one.
60:08I'm a fan of AD Mitchell and two, I'm not a big fan of Omar Cooper.
60:12Uh, the jet, the jets rookie. I think Mitchell, uh, is a good bet to out target Cooper this season.
60:18Mitchell's never had trouble drawing targets. His issue has been getting on the field, but you know, 0.27 targets per route run
60:24as a rookie in 2024, that was 18th best among 128 qualifying wide receivers.
60:28And he was right at a similar mark last year at 0.26 targets per route.
60:32And it was the same with the jets. It was 0.26 targets per route and eight games with the jets.
60:38So he's been a strong target earner. He's still just 23 years old.
60:41He's actually just one year older than the owner Cooper.
60:44Um, so I think AD Mitchell, um, again, in a jets offense that I think could at least be functional this season,
60:50I think he could finish second on that team and targets and be a nice fantasy value.
60:55My next guy is probably even grosser. It's Calvin Ridley who people have just totally forgotten about.
61:00He's like into the wide receiver sixties and ADP had, had, had no chance last year in that Titans offense over the first, you know, what was it?
61:08Five, six games of the season before he went down, but Ridley actually registered the second best yards per route of his career last year at 1.89.
61:15Um, I don't think he's totally dead yet. I think Brian Dables offenses consistently get three wide receivers on the field.
61:21So I still think even if Colonel Tate and Wanda Robinson out target Calvin Ridley, which I think is likely, I think
61:28Ridley could still see enough playing time and volume to, especially in basketball, just like as your wide receiver six, like give
61:34you some, some, uh, starter weeks and be a decent value where he's going.
61:38And then my last guy is Marshawn Lloyd, who I'm not giving up on yet.
61:42I've drafted him the last two years. He's obviously given me, you know, big fat goose eggs both years, but I think
61:48his setup is even better now than it was those last few years for starters.
61:52He's healthy. Um, you know, he he's worked with that biomechanics specialist this off season.
61:56They pretty much found out that it was the 2022 ACL tear and like compensations he'd been making for that injury that had been causing his issues.
62:04And it sounds like they have it figured out.
62:07He had a healthy spring. He impressed beat writers.
62:09He impressed the coaching staff has been a lot of positive buzz on Marshawn Lloyd and the door is wide open for
62:15him to be the number two running back there behind a 28 year old Josh Jacobs, who has only stayed healthy in two of his seven NFL seasons.
62:23So as a super cheap, cheap handcuff on, as we talked about with the Packers up top, it's going to be a good offense.
62:30I think Marshawn Lloyd with my last pick in these drafts is still someone I want to take some shots on.
62:36Yeah, that totally makes sense. And I, I love the call there because one of the things that's, it's kind of fun
62:42as Christian Watson, uh, had the same sort of deal, you know, where he had a compensatory injuries going on.
62:48And that's, that's one of the things that it seems like athletic trainers are really starting to figure out, uh, you know,
62:54with all the new tools at their disposal, they can figure out where a stride or gate is wrong and help correct
63:00that to the point where these compensatory injuries hopefully are not going to come back.
63:04So, so much, you know, because if I didn't think that Christian Watson was doing something different, I wouldn't be drafting him where I am.
63:11Uh, you know, and that gives a lot of hope for Marshawn Lloyd that maybe they can do the same thing with
63:17him and, uh, you know, and that he will work out and, and you're right, you know, as, as much as I'm
63:24in on Josh Jacobs, he is an injury risk and, uh, Marshawn Lloyd is a very, very cheap way to, to benefit from that.
63:30So, and he was a really super, he was an exciting prospect too, right?
63:34I mean, he's a big play maker in college and can also catch the ball.
63:39So I think he, he is a profile that could be exciting in fantasy.
63:42Yeah, exactly. Um, and definitely could be exciting next year if, uh, you know, Josh Jacobs is, is going to be pretty
63:49easy to cut if Green Bay decides to go a different way.
63:52And I think there's a good chance that they will.
63:55So, uh, Marshawn Lloyd might be potentially walking his way into a lot of volume next year.
64:00For sure. All right. Well, thanks for joining me today, Jared.
64:03Uh, really fun show. Always enjoy chopping up with you.
64:06Um, it's been, it's been a few years, but, uh, nice to get you back in with me and, uh, talking a
64:12little bit, reminding people, uh, what you got coming up, where can they find you?
64:16Yeah. All my, my stuff's on draft sharks.com. Um, all the content we were, we're pumping out our draft strategy guys.
64:22Now guides now, at least the first version of those, those get updated like weekly between now and week one, but you
64:28know, regardless of what, uh, league size or scoring system you're in, you can find a draft guide.
64:33And then our big thing is our, our draft war room.
64:36That's our customized cheat sheet where you sync it right up to your league.
64:40It's going to give you a customized rankings that update throughout your draft in real time, you know, based on who's available
64:46based on ADP based on team needs. And that's a live draft sync.
64:50So those sync up to your draft room and the players come off the cheat sheet automatically.
64:55So you don't got to worry about crossing guys off, X and guys off, uh, during your draft, all that happens for
65:01you automatically on the draft war room. Yeah, that definitely makes a big difference.
65:05Makes it a lot easier to focus on the strategy rather than, uh, you know, just trying to keep up with the,
65:11you know, the secretarial work, so to speak. Exactly.
65:14Love that. All right. And for my audience, uh, thank you for watching or listening.
65:18Uh, make sure you hit the like button. It's free.
65:21It's also easy to do. And if you can leave a review wherever you're consuming the show, whether it's a YouTube or
