0:00Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers Podcast with your hosts, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore and Mike Wright.
0:05Welcome in. Wednesday, September 16th, the Fantasy Footballers Podcast.
0:08Mike Wright, Jason Moore, Andy Holloway and the Deucers in the building for another episode.
0:13Another fine episode indeed. Only the Finest. I feel like that's how I would describe the Thursday Night Football matchup.
0:19Only the Finest. That is the issue with today's episode.
0:22Why is that an issue? The Thursday Night Matchup because I want to enjoy it.
0:27It's an incredible matchup, the Lions going to the Bills and it's like so much fantasy relevance and we're gonna have to
0:34sit here and hear about your team. No. I don't need to tell you about my team.
0:39You already know about it. Inside. Inside my heart.
0:42I doubt Josh Allen, Jameer Gibbs and Amon Ross St.
0:45Brown do anything on Thursday. Now you're tempting me.
0:48Yeah. Now you're bringing it to the forefront. No, I'm just excited.
0:52This is an awesome Thursday Night Matchup. It really is.
0:5554 and a half point over. And it doesn't hurt that both of these teams were in two of the best matchups in week one.
1:03Like the Saints game with the Lions was awesome.
1:06The Bills Texans matchup. I got Mike already here.
1:09He's scouting. Waivers are running guys. He's scouting waivers.
1:12Yeah. He's a big Debo guy. Picked up Debo for 17 fab.
1:16Felt like you had to do it. Had to.
1:18I was like you had to do it. Uh, the, the bench with Zay Flowers, maybe, or maybe not playing.
1:25I had to make an aggressive move for Debo, which don't hear what I'm not saying.
1:30I just needed a guy. This didn't feel too.
1:33No, it didn't feel great, but we did it anyways.
1:36Um, yeah. Matt Collins went for $12. Wow. Jason, you took Kenyon Sadiq for nine.
1:41I did. It fits my, uh, game plan of playing for 20, 27.
1:45Interesting. I got, I got Caleb Douglas. It looks like, okay.
1:48Yeah. It's hard when these go through on the show, it's hard not to take a glance.
1:54I was at six for Caleb Douglas and I moved him down right before the, before we came in here.
2:00So you're welcome. Well, I was at six for Caleb Douglas as well, but he was behind, uh, Sadiq.
2:06Okay. Yeah. I mean, it's, uh, it, I think we all thought it was kind of an uninspiring week one waiver.
2:13I said that to you this morning. I, I, I think in the last decade, this was the least exciting week one waivers that we've experienced.
2:21It just wasn't really a home run, which is, it's a little bit of the double-edged sword because if there's a hot running back pickup, it's an injury.
2:30Generally, that means that there was an injury. You know, every once in a while you get a, a James Robinson who
2:37you're like, I've seems like it's out of nowhere wide receivers.
2:40They're more likely to come out of nowhere, but I don't, yeah, no one really, no one, no one super came out of the home run.
2:49Yeah. Yeah. We, we, we always remind people and it's a good time to do it.
2:54We say, drop it like it's hot. You want to check your waiver wire after it runs and see who people released.
3:01Not thinking there's going to be a fight in this league for anybody.
3:05Xavier Worthy, Terrence Ferguson, Najee Harris and Tyrone Tracy and Justice Hill hit the waiver wire.
3:10They're going to stay there, but maybe your league's different because there's probably some of these disappointing week one guys.
3:16We, we went through the, uh, what was it?
3:19Bounce back or buns yesterday. And, uh, some of those.
3:22It's heavy on the science. Yeah. The scientific segment there, but, uh, but no, I mean there, there'll be guys that hit
3:29the waiver wire this week for sure. I thought it was going to be Tyler Shuck.
3:34And then the second half happened. I thought I'd be releasing him, but back into the show here, we have, uh, a fun, quick question.
3:42We're going to do take checks just to just a quick week one inventory on things.
3:47We feel like we got right so far and what you've more not got right.
3:52Just like, what do you feel good about right now?
3:55What do you feel bad about right from what you thought in the off season?
4:00Um, we'll get into some news. We'll preview the Thursday night game that Jason's excited about, and then we'll talk some mailbag,
4:07but a couple of reminders at the top. If you haven't done it, we have two apps.
4:12We have the UDK app, which people used all off season to get ready for their drafts, but it's a good reminder.
4:19Pick up the free fantasy footballers app on the app store, Apple or Android.
4:24And it's, you know, our rankings are in there.
4:27We got articles, all the Foot Clan perks are in there.
4:30It's absolutely free. You can grab that right now on the app store.
4:34It's a good reminder. And then if you want to join the community, um, join the foot.com ultimate dashboard, all of our
4:41premium in season tools, custom waiver wire spots, starts, uh, and tons of other resources, including a bonus episode of the show every week.
4:49Absolutely. And the ultimate dashboard, it's the only way to do your waivers.
4:53Honestly, it was, it's so helpful. It is really, um, being able to see your, all your leagues at a glance with
5:00waivers, who's available, go league by league. It just speeds things up tremendously.
5:04If you're in one league, it's still helpful. But if you're, if you're in multiple leagues, it's like, I can't live without anymore.
5:11So we, we just had our, uh, chopped league, our guillotine league waivers go through.
5:16And, um, looks like I have Jamar Chase now.
5:19You sure do. You devil. I beat, I bid six, six, six.
5:23Yeah. Um, it looks like it wasn't, I mean, everybody bid on him.
5:27It wasn't too much higher than where I was.
5:30I needed him. The hit man was, um, Colson Loveland went for three 16.
5:34If you're in a chopped league or you don't know what that is, uh, they're pretty fun.
5:40We did it for the first time last year, 18 people, one person, the lowest score gets chopped every week.
5:46Raise your hand if you were chopped this week.
5:49Okay. Yeah. For those listening at home, Al Borland's hand went up.
5:53Uh, gave you Jamar Chase. You're welcome. One less thing to worry about.
5:57But yeah. So, uh, interesting. Yeah. I, I, those just popped through as well.
6:01It's always week one in a chopped league. You don't know how much to spend.
6:06I mean, the budget's a thousand. Yeah. Yeah. People didn't spend up, but you really don't know how much to spend.
6:13Uh, some people really don't know. And we get, who are you talking about?
6:17I'm talking about 150 bones spin on Demarcus Robinson.
6:20Who did that? Oh, one of the guys in the, he got, he got chopped first last year.
6:26So he had no, yeah, he's going heavy. He outbid the $5.
6:29$5 was the second. Oh man. People, you know, like more and more, I'm starting to get the guillotine chopped advice.
6:36Like, Hey, what, what do I do here? And it's like, dude, I don't know that there's boilerplate for any of chopped league.
6:43Cause it's so contextual. Yeah. It's you want to be able to have fab over the course of the season, but you
6:50also don't want to get chopped because once you get chopped, you're just, you're out and you go to the grave with all your money.
6:58Yeah. It's fun. I take it with you. I feel like I overspent, but, um, not by, not by too much.
7:05All right. Quick question. Uh, let's do those take checks.
7:08Let's talk about one, two, three things you feel good about in terms of what week one might've confirmed about the off season, uh, thought processes.
7:16Sure. Uh, some of the things that I think I feel good about getting right based on week one, um, Jackson Dart
7:23was a guy that I, you know, I tried to take a lot of shots on.
7:28He looked good week one. I, that one's, that one's tough cause it was Dallas and Dallas's defense looked like 2025.
7:35Um, so you know, that one I'm tempered, but I'm excited because he did, he did look good.
7:41He looked mature, his play style. He still ran the ball, everything that I was hoping for.
7:46And he has neighbors from week one and likely like the fact that there's two, it seems like there's two strong weapons for him.
7:54And then Malachi fields can like come along slowly and maybe turn into a third option.
7:59Yeah. I was, um, not as into Devon H and, you know, I was worried about the offense for H and that seemed a little bit worrisome.
8:07He didn't get, you know, he, he scored fewer fantasy points this week than in any week last year.
8:13I also saw a thread of plays where there were potential check downs that turned into scrambles for Malik Willis.
8:20And it was like, you know, you just watch that and it's like, okay, that's three or four targets a game, which
8:27is like, it's not, it's just a couple plays, but that is, that's a baseline of like four fantasy points.
8:33I also think Malik Willis in week one was the lowest on target rate percentage wise for his passes in general.
8:40The offense did not get momentum at any point in that game to work.
8:44I mean, I think there were like one or two times we were like, Oh, here's a drive.
8:50Like you just, there's some things to be concerned about.
8:53Hopefully he can work it out and he's playing with two rookies.
8:57He's a great player. So you hope that that, Oh, I mean it can overcome like Bijan did with Cooper rush in that game.
9:05That's what you'd love to see. But yeah, the check downs are going to be a problem.
9:10And then of course, Bucky Irving. Oh, wait a minute.
9:13The guy that unofficial, my guy clearly was that dude.
9:16What an off season. I feel like you almost said nothing about him all off season.
9:21He spoke with his actions. That's right. That's right.
9:24Mike, it was the subtext of most of other things you said.
9:28Yeah. Um, I feel good about Caleb and the bears so far.
9:32I mean, Caleb was a, my guy and the bears, the bold prediction.
9:36I said they'd all break out. Um, I feel great about Isaiah likely he was a darling and, uh, in the off season.
9:43Great start. And then, um, I think we all, we had the conversation about Drake London and how it might be a problem without a trustworthy quarterback.
9:52I think we saw that in week one. We didn't know how untrustworthy he was going to, his quarterback play was going to be in week one.
10:00I, it will get better with Pua, but, um, still concerning.
10:04Well, and then, and then lad, I feel good about the involvement and it seemed like lad was the dude.
10:10He was eating. Yes. And, uh, even though the, the, the injury happened, I feel good about that, Mike, what do you feel good about so far?
10:19I feel good about my optimism for the change in the Ravens offense that getting old hat, old busted out of there,
10:26get some, get the, the Ben Johnson system down to Lamar Jackson, see what he can do.
10:31You know, that's still that I, that's a one game.
10:34It's like the, uh, what you were saying about dart Jay, like it's the one game is the Colts.
10:40I'm not going to victory lap it yet, but it feels if you got flowers or, or Henry on your, on your team, you're feeling really good.
10:49Uh, the Cleveland Browns are who we thought they were and they are, it's just, it's an absolute fantasy graveyard.
10:55You were very hands off on all of their players.
10:59And so far it looks like you should be hands off on all of their players.
11:04And maybe you can get the should do her thing going and maybe cause Fannin was good with should do her.
11:10Maybe that happens. Maybe that's the salvation for two, uh, sometimes for the Falcons.
11:15Sometimes you like drop your wedding ring into the toilet.
11:18Right. And it's like, sometimes that water's clear. I'm just saying, I'm just going along with it.
11:23I've never had this happen. I've never had a habit, but my point is if you drop some in a toilet, sometimes it's like, Oh good.
11:32There's nothing in that toilet. Still gross. I got to get it out.
11:36Okay. God. Oh yeah. Yeah. This is like Quinch on Judkins.
11:39I don't know where we're going. Is in a toilet bowl of diarrhea.
11:43And it's like, that's a good player down there.
11:46But if, are you really going to go try to grab that?
11:50No, you just got to flush the whole team away.
11:53You got to flush the whole team down the, down the drain.
11:57Just let that ring go. All the nice gyms.
12:00Yeah. Concepcion and you know, everybody just flush them.
12:03Okay. There you go. Perfect. Dirty, no nasty bowl.
12:05We're all tracking. Just disgusting. The sidewalls are ruined.
12:08If I don't talk, he's going to keep talking.
12:11There is there. And there's more to be worried about than just Deshaun Watson and the quarterback play.
12:17Like the usage of Harold Fannin was not what it was.
12:20And I'm not just talking targets. I'm like talking his actual being on the field running routes.
12:2682% of snaps. Like it's, it's not what it was.
12:29I took a little Glansky at this morning. And then I'm feeling good about Stefan Diggs as they, you know, when he
12:36signed on with Washington, took him in like a lot of mock drafts of saying that this player's ADP is not going to catch up.
12:44And he was a thousand yards off of his ACL last year for Drake May.
12:49He also had very good separation numbers in week one.
12:52If you looked at that, he also, I look, it's a digs and Antonio Williams.
12:57So I thought looked outstanding are a problem for Terry McLaurin in a real way, in a way of consistency from Terry McLaurin.
13:04He's not the only show in town anymore. He's going to have his games, but I think you have reliable pass catching
13:11options that are emerging there that are a threat to McLaurin being a safe start every week.
13:16McLaurin's target market share has always been one of his saving graces.
13:20It's just like, he's been on an Island, the only person to throw it to.
13:25And now if you do have other options, it's, it's going to be tough, especially for an offense.
13:31It doesn't necessarily look great. That offensive line is hurting and it'll be interesting because Antonio Williams, I think he only played 43% of snaps.
13:38He got a touchdown and looked great. It will he play his way onto the field more and more, or will he
13:45just kind of have that slot role? Yeah. He was targeted on a high percentage of routes when he got the opportunity.
13:52It was neat to see. And don't forget McLaurin's super year was like 11 touchdowns.
13:57And so you had what Anthony Williams and digs as a touchdown in week one.
14:02It wasn't all good. Some of the things that you feel shaky about after week, some of my opinions, I feel shaky about in both directions.
14:10Speaking of the Ravens offense, Mike, I was worried about Derrick Henry with the loss of the offensive line, the loss of their fullback.
14:18Like, will, will this work for Henry? Yeah, he was fine.
14:21He's immortal. Totally. Okay. I was optimistic that with Kevin Petulo out of the way and Sean Mannion taking over kind of
14:28the ping pong we've seen over the last like six years for the Eagles where good coordinator, bad coordinator, good coordinator, bad
14:35coordinator week one, I was so uninspired by the Eagles offense and not just the play, but like that, it just looked
14:42like more of the same, like where's a good offense can, right.
14:46Is, is this really just a Jalen hurts problem?
14:49Uh, and then my biggest fear because he's in my guy is I still have zero doubts on the talent of Carnell Tate.
14:56Cam Ward here, Jay, you intended. Yes. Thank you, Mike.
14:59You, my, your intentions were good that Carnell Tate was going to be a great point.
15:04You know, we talk about when, when we talk about the, the worst teams in the league, which we've done a lot
15:11this off season, we have brought up, uh, you know, the, the Cardinals, the jets, the dolphins, the Browns, those teams are
15:18like, who's going to get that number one pick?
15:21Uh, it might be the Titans. I mean, the Titans might be the worst than all of them.
15:27I minor easy ones. It's obvious, uh, H and Malik dolphins week one, not good.
15:32Um, we'll see what it looks like over the next couple of weeks, but the schedule's tough.
15:37I expected more. Hopefully Chris Bell can get like better involved.
15:41And it was not, I mean, Caleb Douglas was a success story from week one, five for 94 in his debut playing 92% of snaps or something.
15:49And then Marvin pits. I mean, Marvin Harrison and Kyle pits combined for one catching week one.
15:55I was kind of hopeful for both of those guys.
15:58So we'll see if, uh, it's prescriptive or just an anomaly, but those three situations I feel, uh, I feel nervous about.
16:05Sure. Uh, I'm, you know, I, I was kind of apathetic on, uh, Justin Jefferson of feeling just, man, I don't know
16:12if I'm, I'm not willing to take that risk.
16:15And this one is still is TBD. Cause if you would, if I knew that Carson Wentz was starting for the Minnesota Vikings, how, yeah, it's ridiculous.
16:23It's so absurd. If we knew that the third string quarterback from two weeks ago was going to be starting, we'd obviously
16:30love Justin Jefferson because I know that he's capable to get Justin Jefferson the ball and he forces him the ball.
16:37He's just, he's like a top tier or I'm sorry.
16:40He knows that Jefferson needs to get those targets.
16:43And when he's not open, it doesn't matter. You just throw him the ball and the, it was week one, but Steelers
16:50backfield, man, it, it looks like it's just a mess.
16:53And on top of the, you know, the Steelers were very pass heavy.
16:57They were pushing the ball downfield. I mentioned this in the, um, on the dynasty show that's coming out today.
17:03So you can, you can check that out as well, but like how bad I came away from watching DK Metcalf, it
17:10was so horrible, but the opportunities were there. Like this isn't just, just garbage check downs to DK Metcalf.
17:16I made offers on him this week. These, these are like big boy, high a dot.
17:22If DK Metcalf can actually come through with the opportunities, which again, he didn't, he stunk, but you want, like you got
17:29to buy into situations and offenses and, and like just hope that the player can come through with what they're being asked to do.
17:36Just to be clear, you were, you were optimistic.
17:39The Steelers backfield would have value. It didn't look that way.
17:43And we know it didn't. It, it looked like a split mess.
17:46Okay. Let's do some news. News and notes from around the league.
17:50Dajon Stribling placed on IR with the ankle injury.
17:53This was news that broke moments ago. Don't worry.
17:56He's doubtful on sleeper. Yeah. That just broke Jason.
17:59That will get fixed momentarily. Jacoby lane is expected to undergo wrist surgery in the coming days, potentially as long, uh, as
18:06soon as Wednesday could miss about a month. Uh, the update to the Josh Jacobs situation.
18:11We found out yesterday that his ex-girlfriend who's involved in the, uh, the case filed a motion to seal evidence and discovery materials in the criminal case.
18:19It makes it more challenging for video footage to be released by anybody.
18:23It's not just his side that wants to file for that.
18:27It's her side. And, um, she wants to protect her privacy is what she said in the documents.
18:33So the, the room, I don't know the reporting, the reporting after Jacobs did this was that the NFL, uh, was still trying to get the video.
18:41They, they, they want to see that, you know, as part of their investigation to know what to do.
18:47Then after that was reported, her team, uh, did the same thing and, and filed the seal.
18:53And so I don't know if the NFL will go against the, you know, the, the filings and wishes of, of the victim.
19:00The video opened them up to like a year long suspension or something like that to me.
19:05Uh, you know, we've seen, I mean, the Ray Rice situation is an example where we never saw him again.
19:12Right. Um, what is your expectation? I mean, I, I, I think maybe it'll be a six game suspension with to put
19:19it time served, you know, like games missed credited towards maybe he's back in week seven.
19:24Yeah. I think that would, if, if I had to make any sort of projection or moves based off of the evidence, that's what I would go with.
19:33The Brock Bowers news has been positive and it continues to be.
19:36The knee injury is not overly serious. According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, the team felt he could have played this week if necessary.
19:44And it's possible he returns this week, but they do not want to play him until he's a hundred percent certain until
19:51they're a hundred percent certain he's not effective. The last sentence, I believe you'll see the latest, the latest to see him
19:58as week four, according to Dan Graziano. Okay. He's that, is that, what are we doing?
20:03That not serious. What are we doing? So two more weeks off maybe he might play this week, but the latest you'll see him as week four.
20:11Okay. Come on. All right. Come on. Omar Cooper, junior high ankle sprain.
20:15A lot of a rookie injury news, by the way, lane, stripling, Omar Cooper, a week to week.
20:21We'll see. I don't think he has a lot of value in fantasy.
20:25Dylan Sampson's placed on IR by the Browns. What was the name of the...
20:30Raheem. Raheem Sanders. Yes. Is the backup. Yeah. And he did get playing time and he is kind of a dynasty.
20:36This, this was part of the Judkins problem of how Todd Monken has run his offenses.
20:42It doesn't matter who the primary grinder on the ground is.
20:45And if they're able to catch the ball, which Judkins is, he always had someone else.
20:50And it's when Dylan Sampson went down, they're like, Hey, Hey, all right, Raheem.
20:55Now it's your job. It, so it just really hurts the, the ceiling and the floor for Judkins.
21:00All right. We'll take a break and we'll talk some Thursday night football, get into some mailbag and help you get ready for week two.
21:08Thursday night breakdown. All right. The Detroit lions want to know by the skin of their teeth.
21:14Barely. Yeah. Uh, Buffalo bills want to know one two point conversion by the skin of their, their, I mean, both these
21:21teams, they were in nail biters, Vegas line, Buffalo minus five and a half at home over under 54 and a half.
21:28Let's just call it, let's just call it round up around here.
21:31Buffalo 30 point implied total to 55 of course.
21:34Yeah. It's a 55. We round always up. If it's 53 and a half, we don't really care.
21:40No, honestly, if it was like 55 and a half, yeah, we probably round down lines implied point total 24 and a half.
21:47I mean, that's a huge over under 54.5. That's awesome.
21:50I mean, we did not see either of these like defenses able to stop people in the second half.
21:56Houston moved the ball three touchdowns for Montgomery. Tyler Shuck got it going.
22:01They, they were awesome in the second half against the lions.
22:04This should be fun. This should be really fun.
22:07I mean, football dreams are made of the weather is great.
22:10Uh, you know, no worries because it's in Buffalo the time of year.
22:14There's nothing in the way of a ton of fantasy points and congratulations.
22:19He doesn't want to see me smile. There's people listening that need advice.
22:23Here's what I would say since this game, really 2021, there have been 41 games since 2021 that had an over under a 53 or higher.
22:31And the highest scoring of those 41 games was Buffalo against Detroit 48 to 42.
22:36And that was in 2024. Um, this should be a lot of fun.
22:40You got this new look Buffalo offense with Joe Brady.
22:43He did his best. Uh, he did the, uh, Ben Johnson.
22:47He tore the shirt off in the locker room.
22:49Yeah. Yeah. Didn't work. He doesn't work out as much.
22:53I'd leave it to Ben Johnson. Yeah. Um, but you're going to pull that move.
22:57People, when it happens, have to go, Oh yeah, they've got to be surprised.
23:02I was surprised. Yeah. I mean, when he did, I was like, Oh yeah, that's what I thought.
23:07That's what I thought it would look like. You did that.
23:11Yeah. I mean, look, it's cute. I'm not, it's better than me doing it, but, but when Ben Johnson's the standard, don't do it.
23:19Uh, Josh Allen, play him. Jameer Gibbs. Yep. Um, by the way, Josh Allen, most rushing touchdowns since the beginning of 2023.
23:26Um, that's crazy. I'm on quarterbacks. 44 of them.
23:28Gibbs has the most rushing touchdowns. He's already all running backs.
23:32Kyle, he's got the most all time, right? Most all time.
23:35Yeah. Josh Allen. So Allen's the most among quarterbacks.
23:38You say most since this time, you could just go back to the beginning.
23:43You pick any date you want. I guess he just wanted to let us know.
23:47He scored 44 times since 2023. Ah, okay. Okay.
23:50But, um, so Allen's the most among quarterbacks. Gibbs is the most among running backs.
23:5551 of them since 2023. And then don't worry.
23:58Amon Ra is the most among wide receivers since 2023.
24:01So all of them since 2023. Just broke their, you know, all time rushing touchdown record as well.
24:07Uh, a year ago. So Allen Gibbs, Amon Ra the most.
24:10And if anybody's got all three of those guys, you're in good shape.
24:14How are you feeling about, uh, Jamison Williams coming off of a disaster of a game?
24:20It really was. I mean, the volumes there are nine targets, but it was four for 45 with how many, how many were credited as it?
24:28Probably three drops. Um, and they were tackled at the one yard line.
24:32He, I was, I was mostly optimistic about the utilization, the, the drops, they can happen.
24:37Yeah. They come and go. Um, but the place where look, they would have been big place if he held onto the football.
24:44And so I, I wasn't too discouraged. I mean, 36% of the first read targets, I don't think they're going to go away from that.
24:52They've said it publicly that they're not worried about the drops.
24:56So pretty, I mean, in this game, yeah, you can't fire them up.
25:00You can't ask for more. Uh, Jamison Williams to me, if people are disappointed in that first week, I think you should go trade for him.
25:08The utilization was perfect. The worry was like, okay, Sam Laporte is on the field.
25:13Is he going to run the same amount of routes?
25:16Is he going to have that participation? The amount of targets, nine targets, uh, 95% route participation, 77% outside.
25:22It was everything you want other than catching the ball.
25:25And that's going to happen sometimes. So Jamison Williams is a must.
25:29Yeah. I think he's an absolute must start. So that's easy.
25:33I mean, I think golf, when you look at the matchup, you are going on the road.
25:38We, we don't love golf on the road as much, but did I mentioned the 54 and a half point over under it's pretty delicious.
25:46I think he's stream worthy. I mean, Stroud was fine.
25:49Yeah. I think in this case, I think you're stream worthy there.
25:53Um, DJ Moore fire him up. If you spot starts in this game, I don't think Khalil Shakir is a bad spot
26:00start in a game with this high of an over under a 30 point implied point total.
26:05If you're looking for ones in that category, I mean, he's a go-to guy for, for Josh Allen, six targets last week.
26:12Yeah. I mean, you just could do worse is my point.
26:16Yeah. No, not everything is going to be a top end player.
26:20You got to fill out an entire roster. You just picked up Debo.
26:24Yeah. Would you rather play Debo or? I would.
26:26I'd rather play Debo. I would as well. We like Purdy this week too.
26:31Uh, Kincaid and Laporta, I think are both in play.
26:34Absolutely. This is not a complicated game. No, that's what I was saying.
26:38People don't really need our advice here. It's like, yeah.
26:41Do you have a lion on your roster right now?
26:45If you do start them, do you have? No, that's right.
26:48But that's not someone that you probably are rostering right now.
26:52No, he's not rostered. If you already have a lion or a bill on your roster, plug them in your lineup.
26:58Also, the biggest advice we can give you is get them out of your flex.
27:03Yes. And put them into your, you know, your running back or your wide receiver spot.
27:08Now we're helping. Leave flexibility. The, the. James Cook will be fine.
27:12The excitement here is just. He's going to have a great game.
27:16We. Wee. Yeah. Start them all. I mean, I look at every name.
27:20Allen, Cook, Moore. Put your hands in the air.
27:23Yeah. And get ready. And wave them like you just don't care.
27:26What a game. This is going to be so fun.
27:30It is really. Oh man, look about those dudes back there.
27:33I mean, I know that we have had. You can do it guys.
27:37There are plenty of matchups in the past with a over 50 point over under, which is exciting.
27:43That disappoints. Yes. It happens. This is the NFL and, and you know, I can't fathom a world where this game, maybe
27:50it doesn't hit the over because it's so high, but I can't fathom a game where it's like not an exciting offensive output in some capacity.
27:58It's hard for me to imagine at home, the home opener for Buffalo.
28:02They can't score on the Lions defense after what we saw last week.
28:06And if they score, then it's going to be wheels up for Detroit trying to get back into this game.
28:13I mean, it is a five and a half point line for Buffalo.
28:17I get it. I mean, it makes sense. They looked pretty good.
28:21Um, my goodness, the Lions defense in week one gave up 45 fantasy points to the Vele Olave combo.
28:27Yeah. That, that was impressive. Mr. Vele with the two diving catches.
28:31Um, yeah, this game is easy. I'm just kind of wasting time here.
28:35I mean, what, what are the mailbags? Is there any questions?
28:38No, let's do some mailbag. Mailbag presented by Paramount plus.
28:41I feel like that was a little quiet. What?
28:44You're a little chill. I didn't feel that. Okay.
28:47Maybe my ears are clogged. Uh, if you have a question, is there, they're clogged grandpa, the fantasy footballers.com submit a question
28:54button or dial the voicemail hotline three zero two four six four TFFB.
28:58Looks like we have some voicemail questions in here.
29:01Uh, let's start with a, uh, I think a chop league question.
29:05What's up ballers? It's Doc from Atlanta. Uh, quick question about these guillotine leagues.
29:09I've got, uh, some buddies that are really, uh, doing some, uh, nefarious things in the chat, trying to bait everybody into
29:16spending all their budget at the beginning, you know, and this first week we had a Jamar chase at the wire and
29:23everybody's saying, Oh, I bet it all. I bet it all.
29:27It's kind of like a poker match here. What do you guys do to, uh, you know, keep it clean, but still
29:34get a little dirty on the, uh, chat forums.
29:37Um, guillotine league. Let me know. I mean, this was our lunch conversation yesterday.
29:41I was trying to tell people, I think that's part of the fun league chat influencing.
29:46And here's, you don't have to worry about collusion in the guillotine league.
29:50I don't think. Yeah. You're saying when you're talking about spending money.
29:54No, at that point you're just trying to affect markets.
29:57Yeah. I mean, survival of the fittest. I mean, you just do whatever you want to do, dude, uh, lather me up in the mud, bro.
30:05I don't, yeah, I don't think they're dirty. I think that's part of the fun is taunting people into trying to spend.
30:12I mean, I, I had no idea what people were going to spend that at the lunch conversation.
30:18I didn't think I was getting Jamar chase for $666.
30:21You didn't think you were going to get no, we really did talk it up.
30:26I mean, Mike bid five 15. Yeah. I mean, I was there, but, but, but the DeMarcus Robinson guy, the guy who
30:33paid one 50, we got him good. I thought he said he really needed them.
30:38I thought he was going to spend a thousand.
30:41Um, I mean, I have seen some resources come out.
30:44I, we may put some up on the site in terms of like fab guides for, for these players at some point.
30:51So, I mean, it's so difficult to actually tell people what to do.
30:55I think that the best way to think of it is the bit, it's a pretty big range for these guys.
31:02And then you add your context to the range.
31:04It's like, yes, you know, you know, chase is probably, you know, it's, it's 375 to 500, you know, something in that range.
31:12Like that's probably a fair price for him. I guess we could, you get the most weeks in week one.
31:18That's another factor, right? Like you get the guy for the longest amount of time.
31:23And if you, but on the flip side, you also have the most amount of teams that you, that have an opportunity to be better than.
31:31So, um, you know, it's one of those, what, what the, the small research that I've done, cause this is a newer
31:38league in the last couple of years, uh, play style is that saving your fab is more valuable.
31:44Obviously your team context is going to very much matter.
31:47If you don't have a wide receiver to play or a running back to play, go hard in the paint.
31:53Cause if you, you know, if you are going out there and putting up a goose egg and you're out, you're out.
32:00Yeah. That's the funniest part about saving fab, right?
32:03Right. Yeah. So valuable unless you go out, then it is the dumbest.
32:07I mean, people last year, I feel like the first four or five of the first six or seven people that went
32:14out had full fab budgets, a hundred percent. They didn't spend.
32:18And then it was like, a lot of them spent on Brock Bowers.
32:22Well, that eventually happened, but I do remember, I think the first three weeks, it was like almost full budget people that, that went out.
32:30Oh, but, uh, which just feels bad. Like if I go out now, I went out swinging.
32:35And yet Matt is saying the people that won as I assume you're saying Schneider didn't spend until week four or five.
32:42Yeah. Yeah. Cause if you can thread the needle, if you make it through with that roster, you got, you know, you didn't drive Josh Jacobs.
32:50Yeah. That's where I got injured and Marv. Uh, yeah, that that's where I think at the beginning of the year, you
32:57just have to not be the worst. And when there's 17 and 18 and 16 and 15 teams that like you've got
33:04good odds at not being the worst, save your money.
33:08And then you can get bigger and better studs that drop to waivers for cheaper later.
33:13All right. Uh, Justin in New York. Hey ballers.
33:16What do we do with AJ Brown right now?
33:18Should I try to trade him for someone that will at least play these next few weeks?
33:24Who would be the cheapest player you would be comfortable trading him for now?
33:28I think that's a good question to work through here.
33:31Yeah. Uh, if you feel like he was a key cog, you don't have a bunch of other depth or players that are going to carry you.
33:40Yeah. I mean, we've got rest of season rankings, uh, that are valuable for, for situations like this where you're like, okay,
33:47well, how do you value him on the season?
33:50And, uh, so let me bring up some names and see if you guys would be willing to trade, uh, you know,
33:57right now he's really low for me. Yeah. He's, he's, he's pretty low.
34:01Where is he in your rest of season wide receiver rankings?
34:04Cause I've got my number. He's at 35 for me, right?
34:08He's at 27 for me. Yeah. He's at 34.
34:11So above the, the names just above AJ Brown for me that I would trade him for based on rest of season rankings, Luther Burden.
34:19Yeah. Jamison Williams, Mike Evans. Jamo, you might be able to do.
34:23Oh yeah. A burden. I don't think you're going to get that trade.
34:27Roman Duns is just below him for me. I'm guessing he's above for you guys.
34:31Devante Adams. Would you do that? Cause I mean, it sounds like he's above yours.
34:36I would do it for Adams. I would do it for Rome.
34:40I would do it for a lot of weeks guys.
34:43It's six weeks plus some reduced production. Yeah. And then never proved that he's been with may and done it yet.
34:50Yeah. This is a player I was extremely bullish on.
34:53Um, I, I still check his rosters guys. He was, he put his money where his mouth was.
34:59I still believe that, um, you know, it'll work out in the, in the end, but if you don't make the playoffs,
35:06it doesn't matter if they go off during them.
35:09Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That one's really unfortunate. It's just a big injury that happened early and you gotta, sometimes you do have to do this.
35:16You just have to accept your losses. AJ Brown is not worth what AJ Brown was.
35:22And how did the rest of your draft go?
35:24Like, did you hit on one of the middle or late round wide receivers that you can, like you can tread water
35:31with them is it's, uh, well, when it comes to trading the big boys like this, it is just, it's so difficult
35:38to give a, a blanket statement of what I would do with that player.
35:43Jason brought up the rest of the season rankings, but those are what factor into the trade analyzer algorithms that we have on in the foot clan.
35:51So there is a trade analyzer. You can plug names in there right now and see how we balance it out based on rest of season rankings.
36:00That's a quick way to put some of the other names, maybe on these opponents of yours, put them in there and see what we think about it.
36:09Um, that's it. Join the foot.com. Let's do another voicemail.
36:12Hey ballers. Would you trade Josh Jacobs and Colson Loveland for Brock Bowers half point PPR?
36:17Thanks bud. Hmm. Big no for me. Yeah. That's a no for me as well.
36:22I think that you, you, you are then having to find a tight end to play.
36:27Would you trade just one for one Loveland for Bowers?
36:30That is interesting. I, I just easily. You'd trade away Loveland to receive Bowers easily.
36:35Yeah. I I'm on the Bauer side still. Uh, I wondered though, when the injury happened, like would you, but I, I don't think I would.
36:43However, if you're adding in Josh Jacobs, which I expect you're going to have half of a season of a, you know,
36:50a, an RB one, uh, at least probably a top 15 running back, but potentially a top five running back.
36:56I mean, that's where he was last year before his knee injury.
37:00Um, I would rather have Loveland and Jacobs. Okay.
37:03Did Mike answer that? Uh, I would not do the two.
37:07I'm, I'm still thinking of the, your immediate, you're like, no, I would take Bowers over the Loveland.
37:12I'm, I'm worried about the knee. I'm worried about the knee.
37:16That's all it comes down to. If you, I'm very optimistic that the knee is not going to be a problem for
37:23more than a week or two more. Right. Well, I'm saying long term.
37:27Yeah, no, I get it. That that's part of it.
37:30If you, if you're afraid that you don't want to do that dance and he's going to get hurt again, um, that, that would be a monster problem.
37:39And you don't want, if you don't want to be in that situation, if the production of Bowers becomes someone that's like,
37:46okay, he's good, but he's scoring, you know, nine and a half, 10 points a game rest of seasons, that's, that's, that's good for tight end.
37:54That's fine. But that's not what you drafted Brock Bowers to be hoping that you were getting 15 points a game.
38:01You're not going to get a goose from him.
38:04That's for sure. That is for sure. That's not going to happen.
38:08We'll take a break. We'll answer some more questions.
38:10Warren Elder in Ontario writing in, you guys have been talking about Kellen Moore's offensive system and how it results in more snaps.
38:18What are some other teams that have a similar place pace of play?
38:22And alternatively, what are some teams that are prone to match a slower pace of play?
38:27We do put a pace of play article up on the website every Wednesday afternoon and it is, it is Wednesday.
38:34So that'll be going up there. But, um, the top five pace of play teams from week one.
38:39And then Jason, you can share the bottom five saints were number one insane.
38:4486 plays in that game. The next closest team, by the way, 67 plays green Bay, Kansas city with 67 plays.
38:50The Steelers with 64 plays. That's interesting. And then the Panthers with 62.
38:55Yeah. Uh, shockingly, the Ravens were in the bottom five, um, in the neutral pace of play.
39:00They were just so doggone efficient. Um, the Broncos were down there.
39:04Yeah, that felt like it. 29th. The jets were very low, which was I think surprising.
39:09Um, I, I expected them to be a little bit faster this season, but, uh, that was, that's worrisome.
39:15The dolphins as expected were very slow. And then the Vikings were the slowest, the slowest.
39:20They were the worst, but I will say that they had an, you know, when, when you have a quarterback that two
39:27weeks ago was your third string hopping in, not just even like, you know, pregame the way that happened with, you know,
39:34the Cooper rush, Cooper rush had all the week one snaps in preparation.
39:38Um, you're going to end up with a slower pace of play.
39:42So I don't, I don't view the Vikings as necessarily like a, Oh my gosh, sir.
39:47Bottom five type of team. Miami compounding how bad the offense was in terms of expected points added, you know, their EPA
39:54for everything and they're slow is concerning. The fact that the two of the bottom three were in the same matchup, that was, that's a fun one.
40:02All right. The next question comes in off of YouTube.
40:06Would you trade Darian price and George Pickens? Whoa, what for CMC and Kalen black?
40:10I know. I know my, I know my answer too.
40:14Oh, and it's no, my answer is an almost every situation.
40:17Yes. Mine is basically the same. I am a yes.
40:20If I have zero wide receivers, but Pickens, obviously I'm not going to do that.
40:25I can't imagine they'd be asking the question. I mean, I'm doing this.
40:29I want CMC. I do too. I think we saw what we saw from Darian price was worrisome.
40:35We talked about it. It could be, Hey, rookie's first week, he's going to get more and more and more involved, but
40:42also Charbonnet is going to come back in a couple of weeks.
40:46And this definitely seemed like a team that, you know, was it Clint Kubiak or was it the Seahawks that were so adamant in the timeshare?
40:54Well, Clint Kubiak left and Gentie was all this worry about, Oh, Mike Washington's going to hit me.
41:00Gentie got a monstrous workload. Yeah. And then the Seahawks were a 50, 50 split just like last year.
41:06So I think it's, I think it's a Seahawks problem.
41:09And we can know for sure that Ken Walker was a very good enough to be a workhorse running back.
41:15Um, and they still didn't. So to me, to Darian price, that that situation is going to forever be in my brain
41:22as a conundrum of right and wrong. Sure. They won a Superbowl because they, the, the plot, the bigger picture was perfectly executed.
41:29And you don't know what you don't know. You don't know if Ken Walker can handle the workload this level in Kansas city.
41:37And you don't know if he would have been as efficient, good or uninjured as he was last year in Seattle.
41:43Sure. And so, but you also don't know if the Seahawks would have won the championship had Charbonnet been there to, to
41:50take out like, like they might've backed themselves into a Superbowl by having to forcibly use your better player.
41:56That, that is it's, it's wild. I mean the unknown there.
42:00Yeah. Um, Alex writes in on Instagram. Yeah. Generally, how do you value the number one waiver priority in a league without fab?
42:07Great question to me. It is if I've got it, next question, if I've got the number one priority, I am absolutely
42:14holding onto that until there is that running back.
42:17Well, you had, you had mentioned Kalen black, you were willing to burn it for him.
42:22Uh, so if there is a guy, I mean, obviously Kalen black in week one show that he is a must be rostered player who is good enough.
42:31Should CMC go down. Um, and in week one, there wasn't really a lot of options from this point forward.
42:37If I've got the number one, uh, spot, I think I'm going to hold it.
42:42Let the waivers pass through until an injury to a main guy happens.
42:46And you know, then I get to pick up a star running back going forward.
42:51That's how I would personally, uh, the way I handle it is if I have number one or the top priority, I
42:58will use it for if, if I'm going to pick up a player who I need to play right now, the, like
43:05I'm not, I'm not patting my bench with depth with, by, by burning my number one priority, but there are, there's times where it stinks.
43:13Perfect example. You need a Debo this week. So, which is why you paid up 17 based off of the number one
43:20waiver priority and a waiver priority league, would you have used it on Debo and gone to the back of the line?
43:27I would have had to. Yeah. Uh, see, I, I probably would have held onto it and then let the waivers run.
43:34Cause you still get to pick up a player after it runs.
43:38Obviously you're not going to get your Debo. Um, that's, that's tough.
43:41Where, where do you stand on that? Like that specific example?
43:45Like I wouldn't have got Debo, wouldn't have got Matt Collins, would not have got Caleb Douglas.
43:50Like the, the, this week where like the, the wide receivers shook out.
43:54I don't know. I felt like Debo was the most playable guy immediately.
43:59And with stripling out who knows? Yeah. I think he's going to be involved for a while.
44:04It doesn't feel amazing to spend on Debo. No, especially cause the last time we saw Debo on the 49ers, he was not good.
44:12So the, the perfect example then to, to play that one out, you would have lost, uh, Debo and all those other guys.
44:19So right now, like just looking at our league, you would have probably picked up Khalil Shakir.
44:24Right. And be starting him instead of Debo, but you would have retained the number one.
44:29So it's like a trade. Yes. Would you trade the number one priority?
44:33Um, and Khalil Shakir. I think it's really hard to sit there and, and just wait for an injury because you just,
44:40I think you will grow like it can get frustrating and it can be a pretty big impact.
44:46Like sure. The biggest waiver wire running back impact could win you a handful of weeks starting in week seven, eight, nine, something like that.
44:54But then what happens in those early weeks when you have needs and depth and you know, other people are not going to be patient either.
45:02So there is a bit of a, like know your league aspect of, well, okay, maybe I burn it, but these guys are all going to burn theirs.
45:11Like, I don't know. I, it's very, it's just a tough call.
45:15It's very valuable, but you, you can't be beholden to just like, I'm going to hold this.
45:20Cause it's like, maybe I can't think of it, but last year was there a week where it was like, Oh man,
45:27the last two years, I will say this and we brought this up.
45:32Because the running back stayed healthy last year. We brought this up.
45:35Running back health has been abnormally high. I mean, outrageously high for the last two years compared to pretty much every year for the previous decade.
45:44They got some new cleats or something. I don't know.
45:47It's the peptides, man. I mean, look, give them to the wide receivers.
45:51The other thing you can do in a league with a waiver priority you want to preserve is make sure that, I
45:58think in those leagues compared to fab leagues, I think you even more need to have your insurance backs so that you
46:05don't put yourself in the position where you've got to hold that to get those guys.
46:10Maybe that puts you, you know, in a better spot.
46:13I don't know. It's a tough call. And I just hate the idea of like holding it and holding it and holding it.
46:20And then nothing materializes. And I'm not, I'm not picking up guys.
46:24I need to pick up. Chance writing in on Instagram, Parker Washington or Devante Smith rest of season.
46:30Oh, Chance, you dog. That's brutal, man. I don't want to be.
46:34Well, let's rely on the rest of season rankings here.
46:37Week one. Yeah. I mean, I love. That's amazing.
46:40I don't want my love for Parker Washington to distort this answer.
46:44I want us to all write it down. Yeah, I've got the answer.
46:48I know where I'm at. I'm going to let sanity prevail here.
46:51I've got Devante Smith four spots higher than Parker Washington.
46:55I'm going Devante. I'm going Devante Smith as well.
46:58I have Parker two spots higher right now. Okay, there you go.
47:01It's a fair question. That's why it's so funny.
47:04I still think Devante is just the, I think he's more assured, but we'll see.
47:09They're both great. And they'll both, it'll even out.
47:12All right. YouTube question from Sonic Spartan. How many weeks until you bail on a stack?
47:17I have asking as a Bo Nix Jalen Waddle manager.
47:20Ouch. Ouch indeed. Indeed. I would, so here's, here's the, here's the real problem.
47:24And this is why Andy before the show was talking about how he wanted to make Bo Nix a my guy, which makes sense.
47:32This is a player who was the quarterback seven, then the quarterback six and was drafted as quarterback 15.
47:38Yeah. Yeah. That just jumps out as like, Hey, maybe I'm a my guy.
47:43Maybe I'm a perfect target. But the opening schedule was why you didn't.
47:47So I want to tell this person, well, don't bail.
47:50The chiefs have a great defense. I would have expected a bad game for Bo Nix and a bad game for Jalen Waddle in week one.
47:58Like those aren't, but then it's like, okay, well, what do you expect for the next five weeks there?
48:04I don't have it pulled up right in front of me, but it's Jacksonville is next.
48:09Okay. That's, that's fine. That's totally fine. Then it's Rams.
48:12It is at home, but you won't have miles Garrett.
48:16Who's on IR now, right? They're still, they might have darn well.
48:19They're very good. But that's, that's okay. And then at San Francisco.
48:23I think that's the weirdest thing is schedule has not always mattered for them.
48:28Yeah. They fart against the Raiders on Thursday night football.
48:31I, I will say this. I would like to see it.
48:34I would like to see the good form soon.
48:37So here's what you do. You can't just be like, it's going to be bad six weeks.
48:43You got to have good form somewhere in there.
48:45Here's what you do. You, you can bail on the stack, not by like dropping Bo Nix, but by starting another quarterback.
48:52Sure. And hoping that Waddle just gets more involved.
48:55I think that that, that is a reasonable expectation.
48:58I would bail on the stack now. What do you mean by that?
49:02I just mean, I just mean letting go of Bo Nix.
49:06And I don't think you have to keep on your roster.
49:09Just drop him to the waiver. Man, but I don't think that that stack in particular is that crucial for you.
49:16If Brock Purdy's out there, pick him up and drop Nix and just play Brock Purdy and Waddle.
49:22Yeah. And then, and then minimize your exposure to a bad, a bad schedule for Denver and maybe a, a bad play caller.
49:29Who knows? I, I, that's another variable here where like, is Davis Webb a part of the problem?
49:35Is Bo Nix going to be the problem? An uninspiring start and really discouraging targets for Waddle.
49:40Yeah. I, I think that what we saw doing waiver work for week one was that this year there's a lot more multi drafted quarterback leagues.
49:48Um, like for instance, Brock Purdy, I think was drafted in 82% of leagues, something like that.
49:54Um, the name that I think is probably out there at quarterback that if you're wanting to pick someone up and hope
50:01that a, going forward, mostly available and, um, could be really good as Tyler shock.
50:05I was, I did not drop him. I was very, I didn't have him in any waiver bids.
50:11I was like, you know what? I want to, I want to see what this looks like.
50:17Uh, one more question from Instagram, Skylar writing in quote, Mike sucks.
50:20Oh, what told me to start Kyler over my home.
50:23Oh, Michael. Can you give him the booze? Jason?
50:26I don't have that for sure. No, that's on me guys.
50:30Jake, listen, that's on me. How did you see that not coming?
50:34I mean, that's on me. That's ridiculous. You, you, you told him to start someone that was going to get injured.
50:40Yeah. I, I'm going to put it into my process.
50:43Nice. Way to learn from your mistakes. When I know a severe, an injury that will not get out of the game.
50:50If I know it's coming, I'll put it in.
50:53I'll put, I'll put it in. If it's, if it's early.
50:57I'll weigh it as a very, we'll do a new segment.
51:00Guy getting knocked out this week and we'll just call the shot, which, um, Hey, that's coming week two.
51:06It's the worst segment, but Jason's done. Week two, quarter two.
51:10Oh, you that's we're in it. We're in it.
51:13I still can't believe you're sticking with that. I just called.
51:16This is your fault. It's right. I just call.
51:19How is it my fault that you'd say something so egregious?
51:23You put Ramondre up, uh, behind me. Oh, at the live show.
51:26Yeah. Uh, I just saw the future. Wait, one more.
51:29Edward wants to know, have we ever thought about switching seats on the set?
51:34Uh, I certainly have not. I'm not, I'm not a profile guy.
51:38I'm pretty interested in Jason's seat. We've done it one time for a reason.
51:42Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Hillbilly. Mike and Andy flip flopped for toothpaste.
51:47The prospector showed up. Uh, I, I had lost the tooth on one side and it was weird.
51:52It was very weird. But, uh, Jason has a long since said he does not want to be in the profile.
51:59Correct. Let me, let me, like, do you change seats like in a car?
52:03Like in your family? You ever change the side of bed you sleep on with your.
52:09I actually have one. I wondered. It was, uh, cause I was closer to the bathroom and then the wife was pregnant
52:16and I was like, okay, she should probably be closer to the bathroom.
52:20That's nice. Uh, who, who would defend in a, an intrusion though?
52:23Who's closer to the door right now? It is now still the wife.
52:28Okay. Jason, who's closer to the door in your situation?
52:31Back door or no, your, your bedroom. The main entry.
52:34Uh, because they say my wife is only use like which of my seven doors to my room.
52:40You freaking. Well, I'm like right by the back door.
52:43And someone comes in the front door and comes in to attack you.
52:47It would be the wife. That's my house too.
52:50And I'm right there ready to escape the back door.
52:53I say, I'm very close. Take her! To the escape window.
52:56I am closest. Well, Jason's got a bunch of other doors he can get out of.
53:02Um. It's like a Scooby-Doo house. Golly. Uh, that was the mailbag presented by Paramount Plus.
53:07Paramount Plus is the streaming home to the NFL on CBS all season long.
