A.J. Brown

NegativeBust45:49

Matt Harmon expresses concern regarding A.J. Brown's current ADP, noting he is being drafted as the 13th overall player despite potential injury risks and a possible decline. Harmon points to Brown's history of knee issues and suggests that Devonta Smith may have outplayed him in certain stretches, making Brown a risky investment at his current price.

Insight page
NegativeBust125:55

Matt Harmon notes early signs of decline for A.J. Brown, citing his age (29) and a history of lower-body injuries. While he remains a focal point of the offense, the team must move him around the formation to create layup opportunities to mitigate his physical decline.

Insight page

Brian Thomas Jr.

NegativeRole57:15

Matt Harmon expects Brian Thomas Jr. to be a better individual player this year due to improved health, but warns that his fantasy production will likely be inconsistent. Harmon believes the Jaguars' receiver room will be a 'whack-a-mole' rotation, with Travis Hunter potentially taking outside snaps and Jacoby Myers remaining a consistent presence.

Insight page

Cam Ward

NegativeProjection128:13

Cam Ward is still a developing prospect whose success depends on his ability to play in rhythm and on time from the pocket within Brian Daboll's system. His primary strength is the respect and belief he commands from his teammates, which is considered a vital foundation for his development.

Insight page

Chase Brown

PositiveBreakout25:44

Justin Boone identifies Chase Brown as a high-upside target, noting his versatility as both a runner and a pass-catcher. Brown finished as the RB3 in fantasy points per game over the final 10 games of last season (19.1 PPG) and 23.7 PPG during the fantasy playoffs. Josh Norris adds that Brown's environment is elite, citing his 74% red-zone snap share, the return of all five offensive line starters, and the team's shift toward under-center work, which benefits his running style.

Insight page
PositiveRole32:08

Matt Harmon believes Chase Brown can elevate from a tier two/three back to tier one if the Bengals successfully blur the lines between their run and pass schemes. Despite concerns about the quarterback's preference for static looks, the floor remains high because the team will still score points even if they revert to old habits. Harmon notes that all signs, including consistent offseason buzz about Brown being a focal point, point in the right direction.

Insight page
PositiveValue35:13

Matt Harmon ranks Chase Brown at the top of the second-round running back cluster, behind only Saquon Barkley and Kenneth Walker III. Harmon emphasizes that he wants all of these running backs before pivoting to wide receivers in drafts.

Insight page

Christian McCaffrey

NegativeBust8:51

Justin Boone expresses concern regarding Christian McCaffrey's heavy workload, noting he reached 450 touches including playoffs and is now over 30 years old. Boone highlights that historical age curves suggest a decline for players with such high usage, leading him to move McCaffrey down his rankings. Harmon adds that McCaffrey is a binary asset: either the best player in fantasy or a season-ruiner, which makes him a risky click at his current top-6 ADP.

Insight page

Dalton Kincaid

PositiveBreakout105:30

Dalton Kincaid is viewed as having significant breakout potential at his current ADP of TE10. While injuries hampered his production last year, the Bills' offense under Joe Brady is expected to increase its pass rate, creating a highly concentrated target environment that benefits Kincaid as a primary pass-catcher.

Insight page

De'Von Achane

PositiveProjection39:07

Matt Harmon prefers Devon Achane over Derrick Henry, citing Achane's ability to produce via volume and his heavy involvement in the passing game. Harmon suggests that even if the Dolphins' offense regresses, Achane's role as a pass-catcher provides a stable floor.

Insight page

Derrick Henry

PositiveValue12:16

Matt Harmon advocates for Derrick Henry as a 1-2 turn value, arguing that his physical decline is overstated. Despite a drop in yards before contact, Henry's yards after contact increased in 2025. Harmon notes Henry is a 'unicorn' who enters the season with a high touchdown floor, as the Ravens are favored in 14 games. Justin Boone remains skeptical due to age-related decline curves for running backs entering year 11, though he acknowledges Henry's unique status.

Insight page
NegativeBust40:05

Matt Harmon expresses concern regarding Derrick Henry's age, noting that he will be 32 in January. This age-related decline risk makes Harmon prefer Devon Achane over Henry in fantasy drafts.

Insight page

DeVonta Smith

PositiveBreakout40:55

Devonta Smith is poised for a breakout as the primary receiver in Philadelphia with A.J. Brown removed from the mix. Smith has proven he can handle a WR1 role, evidenced by a 32.9% target share and 10 targets per game in contests without Brown. Harmon highlights his 84th percentile success rate versus press and 90th percentile versus zone, ranking him ahead of A.J. Brown in his personal rankings.

Insight page

Drake Maye

PositiveProjection123:31

Ryan Fitzpatrick feels great about Drake Maye's trajectory entering his second season, citing his ability to survive and thrive after a difficult rookie start against the Texans. Maye's leadership and chemistry with new receivers are expected to improve, and the addition of Romeo Dobbs is highlighted as an underrated move that will benefit Maye.

Insight page

Fernando Mendoza

PositiveProjection122:01

Ryan Fitzpatrick is impressed by Fernando Mendoza's preseason performance, specifically his ability to throw seam balls on time and in rhythm. While Kirk Cousins is the starter, Fitzpatrick identifies the Week 8 matchup against New York as a potential turning point for Mendoza to take over the starting role.

Insight page

Jadarian Price

PositiveSleeper47:56

Jadarian Price is a high-upside rookie sleeper in the Seahawks backfield. Despite being a first-round pick, his ADP remains low. Harmon believes the backfield split will be less rigid than last year, and with Zach Charbonnet dealing with injury, Price has a path to significant volume, including passing-down work, which the team is prioritizing under new play-caller Brian Flurry.

Insight page

Jaylen Waddle

PositiveValue98:26

Matt Harmon argues Jalen Waddle is being drafted too late as a WR17, noting he has the upside to finish as a top-10 receiver. Waddle's efficiency metrics remain elite, ranking 11th in successful targets per route run and 12th in yards per route run last year despite playing in a low-volume Miami offense. The move to Denver, which ranked 5th in plays compared to Miami's 31st, provides a massive opportunity for increased volume.

Insight page

Matthew Golden

PositiveSleeper110:55

Matthew Golden is a high-upside sleeper currently priced well below his floor. Despite being a second-year player in a projected top-8 scoring offense, he is being drafted outside the top 120. Jordan Love has specifically praised Golden's work in practice, noting that his progressions frequently lead him to Golden.

Insight page

Parker Washington

PositiveBreakout46:44

Matt Harmon identifies Parker Washington as a priority target, citing his 31% target share and 3.17 yards per route run when playing alongside other Jaguars receivers last year. Harmon highlights Washington's success in the slot (82% success rate vs. zone) and notes that the coaching staff is actively hyping him as the team's number one receiver.

Insight page

Rome Odunze

PositiveBreakout114:17

Matt Harmon remains high on Rome Odunze, advocating for drafting pieces of the Bears' offense. Odunze showed efficiency as a rookie, ranking top-19 in yards per route run, and is expected to take a step forward in his second year as the offense continues to evolve.

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

PositiveValue3:31

Josh Norris ranks Saquon Barkley 7th overall, significantly higher than his 15th overall consensus ADP. Norris argues that Barkley's 2024 struggles were largely due to offensive line injuries—noting the unit only played together for 42% of snaps—and highlights a favorable schedule (3rd easiest for RBs). Matt Harmon notes he has Barkley 10th overall, one spot ahead of ADP, and emphasizes that Barkley's ability to change coverage math makes him a superior target to Christian McCaffrey at their respective costs.

Insight page

Travis Etienne

NegativeValue53:19

Travis Etienne's fantasy outlook is mixed. While he benefits from a high-paced Kellen Moore offense and potential volume due to Alvin Kamara's injury, he faces efficiency concerns. He led the league in fantasy points from short-field drives last year, but his rushing efficiency dropped significantly after Week 8, ranking 24th in yards per carry and 30th in success rate.

Insight page

Trevor Lawrence

PositiveValue39:00

Matt Harmon is highly optimistic about Trevor Lawrence this season, viewing him as a priority target in the middle rounds of drafts. Harmon argues that Lawrence is a solution to the Jaguars' receiver room problems and is willing to 'jump through the table' to secure him as his quarterback.

Insight page
PositiveValue59:08

Matt Harmon recommends drafting Trevor Lawrence as a priority target in the eighth round. Lawrence finished as a top-six fantasy QB in points per game last year despite early-season struggles and is expected to benefit from a favorable schedule and increased comfort in the system. Harmon notes that Lawrence's rushing production (nine TDs last year) provides a high fantasy floor.

0:00Oh boy. I mean, look at that timing. Look at that.
0:03That worked out perfectly. What's going on, everyone? Yeah.
0:06I'm Matt Harmon. Welcome to the Yahoo Fantasy Forecast presented by Versed.
0:09Makes guys wear, guys actually want to wear. You nailed it.
0:13Boom. And let me tell you what, I do want to wear this because I feel great in these pants right now.
0:19We are here in Buffalo, New York at Dick's House of Sport.
0:22I mean, this is incredible. Love that all of you are here.
0:26Absolutely fantastic. I'm here because it's a hell of a day to talk ball and joining me to do just that is
0:32my guys, Justin Boone and Josh Norris. Josh, what's going on, buddy?
0:36We're in an audience full of winners. I mean, I got to speak to a number of them.
0:41Talked to Ruben. I talked to Damien. I talked to RJ.
0:44They all won last year. So no losers allowed over here.
0:47It's all winners. They all thanked me for telling them to draft Christian McCaffrey last year.
0:52So we're in a good place right now. I'm pretty surprised that they showed up.
0:57They don't really even need us. I know. They graduated beyond us.
1:00They can do the show. They know all my talking points ahead of this.
1:04So it's going to be a great one. And for me, this is the first time when someone's been from my hometown
1:10at one of our shows, Niagara Falls. Like, shout out.
1:13Look at that. Love to see it. Absolutely. I mean, you're pretty much in your own backyard here.
1:19I mean, almost. Yes. Grew up in Niagara Falls.
1:21Still only live about an hour or so away.
1:24So, yeah, nice little drive down for me today and beautiful weather and great to be here with everybody.
1:29I will say, I mentioned RJ. I would say the over-under is about 15 years of age for RJ.
1:35And immediately he said, I'm a membership to the Strib Club.
1:38And I was like, ah. The show on Stribling, number one drafted player this year for him.
1:43That's your one Stribling mention. It's over. You can't bring him up ever again.
1:47We are going to bring up a lot of players here on today's show because we've got, since we're in the backyard
1:54of the Buffalo Bills, we figured a little theme show for the day, 12 players.
1:58The three of us are willing to jump through the table for here for the 2026 fantasy football season.
2:04And Josh, I'm going to let you kick this off here.
2:07Who is your first player that you're willing to jump through the table for?
2:11Saquon Barkley. All right. 15th overall consensus. I have Saquon Barkley 7th overall this season.
2:15I mean, all summer long, everyone's heard it. It's all about what Sean Mannion is going to be able to pluck out of.
2:22Jalen Hurts as a passer. Devontae Smith moving into A.J.
2:25Brown's wide receiver one role. None of it matters.
2:27None of it. Unless Saquon Barkley can get back on track and, you know, be the runner that he was a couple seasons ago.
2:34I mean, when he was second in rush yards before contact, second in explosive plays with 77 of them.
2:40I mean, Matt had rushing scores of 72, 70, 68, 65, 39, all that type of stuff.
2:45So I know there's this big cluster of one-two turn running backs.
2:48To me, that is not a cluster that Saquon Barkley should belong in.
2:52In fact, he should be in the middle of round one.
2:55I think we look back on it and Saquon might be the guy that you needed this year in fantasy football.
3:01Yeah, just huge differences from what he was two years ago fantasy-wise to what he was last year.
3:07I think a big part of that was the offensive line injuries, right?
3:11You have three very good offensive line and deal with injuries throughout the year.
3:15That completely changed the offense. Completely changed the run game.
3:17This year, very easy schedule, gentlemen. The third easiest schedule for fantasy running backs.
3:22You love to see that when you're talking about a talented player with all these signs pointing towards this offense potentially bouncing back.
3:28I agree with Josh here. Oh, love it. Well, that's off to a good start.
3:33I really should have reminded the folks who came to today's event that if you had printed out your copy of Justin
3:39Boone's Strength of Schedule Matrix, he will sign it for you after this.
3:43It's a collector's edition. I might have to get it tattooed on me somewhere.
3:47You don't have it yet? No, not yet. Not yet.
3:50Okay. It would be nice. Color coordinated and everything.
3:52On a boon's note about the offensive line, if you look at their best offensive lineman last year and this year as
3:59well with, you know, Jordan Mailata, Dickerson, Juergens, Steen, Johnson, those guys only played together for 42% of snaps last year.
4:05I mean, if we get that up with some injury luck on our side up to 70% this season, again, that gets
4:11back to why this is such a big deal because Saquon is the one that changes the coverage.
4:17He's the one that changes the math on the back end for Jalen Hurts and Devante Smith and your guy, Dontavian Wicks,
4:23and maybe Makai Lemon makes an appearance at some point to really have a great season this year.
4:28My guy, Dontavian Wicks. Feels good to say that.
4:31I mean, I did butt into some of your conversations, and I think in two of them you were talking about Dontavian Wicks earlier today.
4:38Only two? Only two. You missed a couple of the others.
4:41So, okay, let's give the people brass tacks here.
4:44Yes. They're on the clock late in the first round.
4:47I think that's where Barkley's going to go off the board.
4:50Overall, though, where do you have him ranked? I actually have him above Christian McCaffrey.
4:54Like, whoo! Thank you! I love this! I love the crowd!
4:58I love it. So, last year was the year to be in on CMC, as some audience members know.
5:03I think this year is the year you need to be on Saquon Barkley.
5:07And we're drafting all these other running backs, again, in that cluster, thinking like Ashton Gentry before, and we know that he
5:14has departed from that group, thinking, well, yeah, maybe the mystery box, they can be the running back one overall.
5:20Just two seasons ago, Saquon Barkley was the running back one overall, and people just, you know, are a bit hurt of
5:26drafting him last year so early that I think they're forgetting just how good he was two seasons ago.
5:31Yeah, for sure. Not that we want to sit here and put down CMC, but you could make an argument towards him
5:38maybe not doing what he did last year, right?
5:41Like, 450 touches when you add in the playoff games.
5:43He's over 30 now. Like, there are a lot of red flags with him that you get worried.
5:49The other guys that have had that much work that went on to have good fantasy seasons, they were like 25 years old and younger.
5:56They weren't 30 when they were doing that. So, I often have been trying when I'm doing my rankings updates to keep moving CMC down.
6:03I haven't gone as far as you to put Barkley over him yet, but I have continuously moved him down, and I
6:10don't want to take him where he normally does go, which is like in the top six or so.
6:15The reality is with McCaffrey, right? It's either he's the best player in fantasy football or he ruins your season.
6:21Yes. You know, and I get why some people don't want to make that click this year.
6:26It's a compelling argument for Barkley over him there.
6:29So, for me right now, I've got him as my 10th overall player.
6:32So, I'm one spot ahead of ADP on Saquon Barkley.
6:35So, you know, maybe if you're like, hypothetically, Josh, let's say somebody was in a draft next week.
6:41Yes. Tuesday, maybe? Tuesday, maybe at like 5 p.m.
6:43Eastern. Yes. Live on the Yahoo Fantasy YouTube channel.
6:46For like three hours with 11 other people that do this for a living.
6:50For like three hours. And they have the 8th overall pick.
6:53Yes. And one of their, you know, work proximity associates who really loves Saquon Barkley has the 10th overall pick.
6:59You would think maybe that person should take Saquon Barkley 8th overall.
7:02Yeah, my tenure at Yahoo might end after two months if you take Saquon 8th ahead of me at 10th.
7:08Don't tell me we're a good time. When we were at dinner the other day and Josh started asking us, who are
7:15you guys going to take in that draft? I'm picking 3rd and Harmon's 8th.
7:19I was trying to get some info. And I was like, I thought he was just doing it to make conversation.
7:25Now I realize, yeah, he was definitely trying to get some info.
7:28Well, I am feeling great inside my limitless button-down shirt with the limitless pants.
7:32And you guys know who has limitless lifespan in the NFL?
7:36Well, my second player, or my first player, the second player overall that I'm willing to jump through the table for in 2026, that's Derrick Henry.
7:43Listen, I get it. Derrick Henry is an outlier in terms of how old he is.
7:48He's our age. Dude, he's way younger than us.
7:50Some of our ages. Some of our ages. None of our ages.
7:54I am older than Derrick Henry, and I'm still very much in the prime of my life.
7:59So, not like you two, by the way. But with Derrick Henry, there's no signs of the decline.
8:04And I think we are pricing in as if we've already seen some level of drop-off with him.
8:09Last year, his yards before contact dropped down from 2.41 in 2024 to 1.6.
8:13But his yards after contact actually went up from 2024 to 2025.
8:17That's typically like a metric we would look at to say, okay, this running back is starting to maybe tail off in
8:23terms of the physical ability, the breakaway runs. He had his best games towards the end of the season when they were
8:30like, oh, right, we should maybe just try to give the ball to our best player, especially as our quarterback is hurt.
8:36There might be a reason that coaching staff is no longer there in Baltimore anymore.
8:41So, when I get into the second round, I routinely find Derrick Henry available late.
8:45And for me, I think he's much more closer to a 1-2 turn player.
8:49I mean, simply put, boys, like I'm going to be the last one still planting the flag on Derrick Henry Island.
8:55I will be there until the wheels fall off, but I don't think this is the year where it falls off.
9:01I think I'm the opposite. Like, and even if I am a year early and he does have one more good season,
9:08I'd rather get off the ride a year early.
9:10We've talked about Ryan Heath at Fantasy Points has done some really good stuff on age curves, right?
9:15And if you look at it, a running back entering year 11, they tend to put up around 60% of their career baseline averages.
9:22We can throw all of this out the window if we want to with Derrick Henry, and he's just one of one.
9:29That's possible. But I'll look at it even another way.
9:32He had a couple, like, lighter seasons to start his career.
9:35He wasn't, like, really heavy workhorse kind of guy.
9:38So, if we take those two away. Splitting work with Deion Lewis back in the day.
9:42Right, right? Shout out. So, if we take those away and we say, what if it's more like his ninth season this year, right?
9:49That is exactly on the age curve when the first big decline starts to happen for running backs.
9:55And he's a bigger guy, and I feel like when the end does come, it's going to come very quickly for him.
10:01So, for me, to take him in the second round, it just seems too expensive.
10:05I would agree with you more, Boone, if... It was anyone else?
10:09Not an alien? Well, that's why the number one thing is, like, well, those stats don't take into account, like, this guy's just built different.
10:16We saw the video of him earlier. He quite literally is built different.
10:20But the other part of this, too, is that the Ravens are making the same bet that I am.
10:25They've not brought in any real, like, insurance plan here.
10:28The pick that they added was in the fifth round, Adam Randall, the owner's, you know, pet pick.
10:34Right. So, I don't know what that means. Probably nothing.
10:36But for Derrick Henry, like, this is an offense, Josh, we're excited about, and this is the featured player of said offense.
10:43Just to highlight how much of a unicorn he is.
10:46Again, 16 touchdowns last year, age 31. Only nine other players in league history have as many seasons with double-digit touchdowns.
10:52If he does it again this year, again, he gets 16 last year.
10:56If he just gets 10 this year, he enters a group of Jerry Rice, LaDainian Tomlinson, Emmitt Smith, and Randy Moss.
11:02That's it. Pretty good players. That's the list. That's the group that Derrick Henry almost certainly is going to join this year.
11:08And on top of that, Baltimore is currently, again, we haven't kicked the ball yet, but currently, favorite in 14 games this year.
11:15That's time for the third most in the league.
11:18And that's the thing. He walks into the season with 10 touchdowns in his back pocket.
11:22Like, that is the reality of it. He might not be involved in the pass game.
11:27Now they're saying, like, oh, maybe we'll throw him the ball a little bit more.
11:31That never happens. But even still, like, I also think great fit, too, stylistically as a zone-based runner in what Declan Doyle is likely bringing in here.
11:39So, to me, it just, other than the age, and I get it, that is the big red flag.
11:45There's pretty much no negative in his portfolio at this point.
11:48Big question for you. There are, like, maybe two or three sections of drafts this year, pockets, that I think are going
11:54to make wins and losses, champions and, you know, contenders this year.
11:58I think that one-two turn, again, of running backs is that.
12:01So, I'm going to list off the ones going at the top of round two on Yahoo right now.
12:06Ashton Gentty, Devon Achan, Ken Walker III, Chase Brown, Derrick Henry, Omari Hampton.
12:10What's your line of where you're going to take Derrick Henry among some of the others that are selected above him right now?
12:17Right now, I have Henry 13th overall. Okay. And I've told you this, that there's three guys in that, like, just late
12:23first round, early second that I keep rotating. It's Kenneth Walker, it's Justin Jefferson, and it's Derrick Henry.
12:29Right now, I've got it Walker, Henry, Jefferson. But earlier this week, I had it Walker, Jefferson, Henry.
12:34So, ask me tomorrow. I think, ask me tomorrow for sure.
12:37Like, after I think about it on the flight back, I might have it.
12:41I might have it. Jefferson, Henry Walker. I don't really know.
12:44But again, there are risks with the Kenneth Walker profile.
12:47There are risks, certainly with the Devon Achan profile, with Omari and Hampton.
12:51Like, to me, you're taking Omari and Hampton hoping he is going to be Derrick Henry.
12:56100%. I will just take Derrick Henry, even if, yes, Boone, I know what you're going to say.
13:01He's 10 years older than the other human. Do we see, like, a top five ceiling for him this year?
13:07Like, do we? I know the touchdowns. I see the high floor.
13:10I see he walks through the door and there's double-digit touchdowns.
13:13Absolutely. We've seen many guys in that Ravens offense and that Ravens backfield do it.
13:18Like, do we see the high end outcomes for him?
13:21Because if I'm going to take him that early in the second round, I want to be able to tell myself a
13:27story that he can finish among the top five.
13:30And I just, I don't feel confident. But I will also say, in terms of players that I'm scared are going to
13:36make me look foolish, he's absolutely one of them, right?
13:39Like, he is that guy. Yeah. I mean, the reality is, like, this is a player that I just absolutely would jump
13:46to the table for because he's just someone that I really like rooting for as well.
13:50And that might also be part of, you know, the calculation here.
13:54I want to win with Derrick Henry on my team.
13:57But I think that he can have a top five season this year because I think the offense under Declan Doyle is
14:03just going to be so much better than what we got last year when the quarterback was hurt.
14:08And again, they, like, went long stretches without getting him involved.
14:11And then, again, they did get him involved late in the season.
14:15And he had some of his best years. So I see a top five ceiling within the range of outcomes.
14:21But there are, because, again, if he walks in with 10 touchdowns, touchdowns matter quite a bit per the math.
14:27Yeah. No, it raises the ceiling. It's when he doesn't have enough passing work to get up there.
14:32And when you are carrying that risk still. We can't just wash it under the table and be like, no, no, no.
14:38No, you're right. He's one of one. I'm like, I still am going to add that risk in there.
14:44But I agree. I see the argument. I see that he's one of one.
14:48He is a Hall of Famer superstar. And he might continue to make me look foolish year after year.
14:53Very niche point. I know many of the viewers and probably people here play in PPR leagues.
14:58I think Derrick Henry is the most often mis-drafted player in PPR leagues.
15:02Right now, if you look at consensus rankings, 37 overall Derrick Henry is in PPR rankings at this point, despite last year
15:09finishing as the seventh overall running back in PPR.
15:11Like, people just have in their minds, oh, if he doesn't get receptions, I'm not going to draft him versus, you know,
15:18scoring 16 freaking touchdowns is more important than 20 extra receptions on his plate.
15:22Yeah. I like to see it. Running back seven last year in half point PPR.
15:26And full. Yeah. Yeah. Pretty good player. Two spots?
15:29I think we can improve two spots here, Boone, just with the offense being a little bit better.
15:34But we got a little theme going here for the first segment.
15:37We're at the running back position here. Boone, who is your first player that you're willing to jump through the table for?
15:44I'm going to take a guy that just got mentioned in that last one in Chase Brown.
15:49And man, like, I'm looking at what I'm wearing today.
15:52I'm feeling good. You look comfortable. It's like, it's like versatile.
15:55It's like the kind of thing like you could wear all day long.
15:59Right? And the player that I'm picking here in Chase Brown is a guy that is extremely versatile.
16:04A guy that in that Bengals backfield has very little competition.
16:07I know some people are worried about Smasje P.
16:10Ryan. Are there people that are worried about Smasje P.
16:13There are some that are worried. The argument being that he had a good finish to last year because Smasje P.
16:19Ryan wasn't around. Smasje P. Ryan's family is worried.
16:21Yeah. That he's going to. I'm worried about the people who are worried about Smasje P.
16:26Ryan. I'm glad that nobody on this stage is worried about it because I look at Chase Brown as somebody that can do it all.
16:33Right? He's a player that last year wasn't just good as a runner, was also good as a pass catcher.
16:39Top five among running backs and targets and receptions.
16:42And it was kind of a tale of two seasons for him.
16:45And that's where I think people, you know, might be downgrading him just a little when you're talking about that group of
16:52backs in that same range at the end of the first and into the second.
16:56Because if you look at what happened to him last year, early in the season, I was very high on him.
17:02We talked about him last summer as a player that I thought people should be drafting.
17:07And then he starts the year. The schedule was tough.
17:10And Joe Burrow gets hurt. And that offense, now we have Jake Browning out there.
17:14They're going through the hardest part of the schedule.
17:17And Chase Brown wasn't that good. And people started to worry and trade him away.
17:21We were getting questions on the panic meter episodes constantly about him.
17:25And yet, once we got even Joe Flacco out there to just kind of stabilize the quarterback position, and then eventually Joe
17:31Burrow comes back, we see all of a sudden Chase Brown goes back to being the guy that I thought he could
17:37be over the last 10 games with Flacco and Burrow.
17:40The RB3 in fantasy points per game, 19.1 fantasy points per game in the fantasy playoffs, just completely went off.
17:4623.7 fantasy points per game. You look at it this year, and I am a little bit worried about the schedule in
17:53terms of the run defenses that they face early in the season.
17:56But that's why I go back to the versatility point where he's going to be able to catch passes in those games.
18:02He's going to find other ways to score for fantasy.
18:05He's somebody that I really want in that range.
18:08And the only thing I've had to do, Josh, is figure out how much is too much Chase Brown.
18:13Because I had him really at the top of that grouping for a while, realized I was getting him in 100% of leagues.
18:20And then I had to kind of adjust and take a little more Saquon Barkley, Kenneth Walker, just to diversify because we're in so many leagues.
18:28You can't have the same guy in every single one.
18:31I think you could make the argument that Chase Brown has the best environment for a running back in the NFL for multiple reasons.
18:38One, only Devon Achan, Bijan Robinson, Jameer Gibbs have more receptions than Chase Brown among running backs over the last two years.
18:44He played 74% of the snaps of the Bengals inside of the red zone last season.
18:49That's running back five across the league. All five starters return for this Bengals offensive line.
18:53The Bengals are currently favored, again, we haven't kicked a ball yet, in 15 games this year.
18:58And as you know, the big talking point of training camp has been more and more under center work.
19:04That directly impacts Chase Brown in a positive way.
19:06Shotgun runs can be notoriously tough because you're really minimizing the certain angles that these running backs can attack.
19:12So again, all this stuff is just accentuating the environment of someone who already plays around 75%, 80% if someone is unhealthy
19:18behind them at the running back position. That's where I felt that on the surface, you kind of look at Chase Brown
19:25and think like, you know, this is a day three draft pick.
19:28Have we already kind of seen the ceiling for him as a player?
19:32But I do think that environmental point is really key here because we always talk about these great play callers.
19:38What do they do? Number one, you want to blend the run in the pass game.
19:43You want to marry the run in the pass game so that everything looks the same, right?
19:48Pre-snap, post-snap, the whole deal. The Bengals might be like the most siloed team in the NFL where you know what they
19:54look like when they're going to pass. And when they tried it, especially when it was Joe Mixon, it's like, well, that's a run play.
20:01You know what's going to be happening here. So if they can manage to blur those lines even just a little bit,
20:08I think that that is really how Chase Brown takes a step up from a tier two, maybe high tier three running
20:14back into maybe that first tier of backs this year.
20:17The question is just like, how confident are we that they pull off what I do think?
20:22Yeah, a pretty sizable transition from what they've always been and what their quarterback likes to do.
20:27Yeah, he hates looking away from the defense. Hates it.
20:30Like, what's your confidence level that they were able to pull that off?
20:34Well, I mean, the other confident point is if they fail enough and they'll just go back to doing what they did
20:40previously and they still score a lot of points.
20:43Great point. Yeah. Yeah. The floor is really high for Chase Brown in that scenario.
20:47And I just like when everything's pointing in the same direction.
20:50We're talking about all these stats. We've seen him do it before for a big stretch of last season, but also just
20:57all of the talk around Cincinnati is this guy is a focal point of the offense, right?
21:02And we keep hearing that over and over this offseason.
21:04That just has to make you excited, too. So all in on Chase.
21:08Okay, well, then I have to ask you the same question that I asked Matt.
21:13Okay. We have that cluster of second round running backs.
21:16I'll list them again right now on Yahoo. Jinty, A-Chan, Ken Walker, Chase Brown, Derrick Henry, Omar and Hampton.
21:21How high are you pushing Chase Brown among that group?
21:24So and we've talked about this, I think, on other shows and we've talked about this just you and I.
21:30I think that group is so close that I'm not going to spend too much time debating it.
21:35I had him at the top of that group for a while.
21:39Wow. And like I mentioned earlier, I bumped him down behind Saquon and behind Kenneth Walker in part to make sure I get some of those guys.
21:46Yeah. And also because the people that follow me, I don't want everyone getting Chase Brown on their team because you have to watch that.
21:54I want to make sure that people know with the rankings.
21:57You don't follow it just blindly. Well, if it's a guy you need, then having him 100% of the time would be great.
22:04The only leagues you're in though, right? Like when I'm in 20 plus managed leagues, I have to be a little bit careful with that.
22:11You said 20 now? One or two. He added two last night.
22:14Yeah. It was 18 last year. I dropped a few and then we've added some charity ones and some office ones.
22:20And yeah, I have him in the same spot.
22:23So only Saquon and Ken Walker III ahead of him in that group.
22:27And right at the top of the second round.
22:30I want all of those running backs before I get into any more receivers.
22:34Am I an idiot for having A-Chan over Chase Brown?
22:37I mean, talk about the environmental differences. Yeah, right, right.
22:39I hear you. But I mean, he was an 18 point per game player last year in half PPR.
22:45He was. That was also Mike McDaniel calling plays.
22:48Bobby Slok was on the staff though. Yeah. You can make that case if you want to.
22:53It is a true statement of fact what I said.
22:55That he was on the staff last year. I have no rebuttal.
22:59No. He was in the meeting rooms. You can't debate it.
23:02He was in the building. He was wearing the Dolphins hat.
23:05Okay. So he was on the staff last year.
23:08Yes. He loses what? Four points per game. I still think a lot of scenarios there where it was probably the earlier
23:14checkdowns from Tua that Devon Achan is going to be catching those passes.
23:18Yeah. In my scenario here, it's going to be a lot of trailing in the fourth quarter.
23:23Does get a few checkdowns there from Malik Willis.
23:26And then the other 50% of those plays will just be him scrambling.
23:30So, I mean, I have a one spot difference here.
23:32Well, I've got him 15 to Achan. I've got 17.
23:35But like one spot, two spot differences matter so much.
23:38In the second round. You only have one pick that you can make during that section.
23:43And I don't want to be a snake eating its tail here right now.
23:47But the Derrick Henry, I think Devon Achan conversation is a tough one too.
23:51I don't think that's tough. I would take Henry over Achan every single time.
23:55And Chase Brown. I mean, I would take Henry over Achan.
23:58But then I think we are debating Derrick Henry versus Devon Achan.
24:02I would take Achan in that one. I really would.
24:05Look at this. The 32 going to be 33 in January is a very early birthday, right?
24:10We talk about guys all the time when it's like, well, he's going to turn this in December.
24:15January is not that far. I think his birthday is like January 2nd or something like that.
24:20It's like so close. So he's on the older side of 32.
24:23That's how they work. We're just, we're really breaking it.
24:26No, but he's on the older side. As someone that has a December birthday.
24:30Yes. I always think about that, right? But yeah, that's what, it just worries me with him.
24:35Where Achan, I can see him even in this environment, just getting by with volume.
24:40We know the talents there. Getting by with volume.
24:42Still being in the passing game so much. Though, I'm at least a little interested in the receivers in Miami now.
24:48This summer, it's been kind of exciting to see Chris Bell come back this early and start to maybe work in like he's going to.
24:56And to see what he could potentially become in this offense.
24:59And if that happens, maybe the Miami offense isn't quite as bad as we all think.
25:04I think there might be a little bit of double counting in Miami.
25:07Just going like, what about Lake Willis? What about the receivers?
25:11What about this? What if we start to get just average out of some of those positions?
25:16Or potentially even better. Maybe Achan doesn't have to fall quite as far.
25:19So I've taken him in some spots. I will admit it's probably more best ball stuff where I'm not going to have to manage it week to week.
25:28And I'm probably not going to have to watch the Dolphins games.
25:31Because as a Bills fan, I don't want to have to watch the Dolphins games week in and week out.
25:37But for me, it's still Achan over Henry. Man, this is how you guys know we've done way too many pods in August.
25:44When you get to the point that not only is Boone saying like, I think that Dolphins offense could be kind of interesting.
25:50I said it last week too. So that's when you know like, okay, we need to get the real games started here.
25:57Listen, while you guys are preparing for your drafts, everyone here, everyone listening, watching at home, we have a live draft coming up.
26:03Yes. September 1st at 5 p.m. Eastern. As I mentioned earlier, this was the league I was hinting at.
26:09Our Yahoo Fantasy Analyst draft is happening on the YouTube channel.
26:12We would love it if you guys would check that out.
26:15I have the eighth pick. I was the human I was mentioning earlier.
26:19Achan has the ninth pick and I have the tenth pick.
26:22And you have the tenth and meanwhile, Boone's got the third pick.
26:26I know you're deep in the weeds right now strategizing for that third pick.
26:30I'm not excited about it. I hope I'm just hoping one of the running backs and if it was going to be
26:36one of the running backs, it would be Bajon Robinson.
26:39I'm hoping one of them falls to me at three.
26:42I don't think that's going to happen. I'm going to have to go receiver.
26:46And then I was joking again, this ties into what you just said about as we go on through the summer and
26:53we've done this so much and talked about so many different things and done all these drafts.
26:58I'm at the point where I want to go completely against the way I've drafted most leagues.
27:02And maybe I will consider going a little zero RB, pushing running backs down later and just seeing how that turns out.
27:09And my guess is it probably would not turn out very well.
27:12I think the tenth pick is perfect. That's exactly where I wanted to be for this.
27:17I'm so excited to get like two of my favorite players on that turn no matter what.
27:22Yeah, I want it to be either one pick earlier or a tenth.
27:26Yes. Eighth, I've got some mixed feelings. You have to make the decisions really.
27:30Really, exactly. And I don't know whether to take Saquon Barkley at eight just to troll you or like, how do I navigate that situation?
27:37Or, you know, stick to the rankings that you send out to hundreds of thousands of people and the advice that you
27:44give instead of just getting on my nerves. You know, I don't really know which is more important to me.
27:49My integrity as an analyst, as a ranker or a troll to my friends.
27:53It's really hard to say which is more important to me.
27:57Josh, a player that is very important to you.
27:59Yeah. Is your second player that you're willing to jump through the table for here this season?
28:04Parker Washington, the real wide receiver one of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
28:07I've been on this all summer long. And why stop now?
28:11When Parker Washington, Jacoby Myers, Brian Thomas were all on the field together last year, Parker Washington had a team high 31%
28:17target share, 3.17 yards per route run. And, you know, just like the mixed and matched burst fit that I'm wearing right
28:23now of a long sleeve with shorts. We know that Parker Washington can play outside, can play inside.
28:29This is exactly the type of piece that you want at the wide receiver spot.
28:3363% of his snaps last year were in the slot with that personnel grouping I mentioned.
28:38And that's exactly what we want from Liam Cohen.
28:40We know the history he has with slot wide receivers and especially ones that work into like that 10 to 15 intermediate portion of the field.
28:48I just think Parker Washington, if he wasn't a later round NFL draft pick, more and more and more people would continue to get on board with him.
28:56I mean, my rankings are probably pretty absurd with him.
28:59I've been 55th overall. He's going 64th in consensus rankings right now.
29:02And I just think he's going to emerge as the go-to player for this high power Jacksonville Jaguars offense.
29:08I mean, we already saw it happen down the stretch last year and the schedule was easy.
29:13The schedule is easy again for the whole season this year.
29:16The sixth easiest fantasy schedule for receivers. I don't really see where the argument against him comes from at this point because
29:23you could have gone into this offseason and said, OK, other guys are stepping up.
29:27The coaching staff's talking everyone up. Maybe he's not going to be that guy.
29:31It's the complete opposite. It's Liam Cohen saying that he's texting him after hours and that he's getting a response about how
29:37he's ready to kill for him and all this stuff.
29:40They are fired up about him being the number one receiver there.
29:44And again, going back to what I said about Chase Brown, where you want everything pointing in the right direction.
29:50We're hearing it from the coaching staff. We've seen it happen before last season.
29:54From a fantasy perspective, he was great. 90 yards and or a touchdown in five of his last seven games.
30:00Was the wide receiver 19 in fantasy points per game over the final nine weeks.
30:04Those are great, great numbers to get from a guy that's going very much later than that in drafts.
30:09I think analyst wise, I think a lot of people have been on him.
30:14We've talked about him quite a bit. We've been trying to push him up.
30:18He's still going 76th overall on Yahoo right now.
30:20I'm being surprised by where the ADP is because it's not catching up.
30:24I don't know why people aren't listening to us, Josh, but they should.
30:28It was in the 90s to start. So it has definitely gotten pushed up a little, which the 90s, that was insane.
30:34Yes. Well, and where you're getting him, you're not getting him expecting him to be your wide receiver two or even wide receiver one.
30:41You're getting him as a wide receiver three, maybe even a flex play.
30:45And yet he has that clear upside that he's already shown.
30:48I mean, on Yahoo, the three wide receivers going around to my Marvin Harrison Jr., Carnell Tate and his teammate in Brian Thomas Jr.
30:55And then at the end of that round is DK Metcalf.
30:58Like it's not even a conversation. When I get to round seven, my eyes are solely locked on Parker Washington and not on any other player.
31:06It's not often, Matt, I get to sit six feet away from Mr.
31:10Reception Perception himself. So for the people. I'm looking at the chart right now.
31:14I got it. I got it on the screen.
31:16I'm surprised it's not ingrained in your eyeballs. What does Parker Washington do well?
31:21So this is going to be one of my points in favor of Parker Washington for you here is that I think
31:27the way that they found the right role for him later in the season really matters here.
31:32Because when you look at his full season, I write this in his profile.
31:36There's actually some discouraging notes from the first half of the season.
31:39But you have to remember, like he was playing as an outside receiver then, which just made no sense.
31:45And this was a coaching staff that basically tried to push Parker Washington to the side, which honestly makes it even more
31:51bullish that they're talking about him now like this because they've seen the proof is in the pudding.
31:57Like not only were they trying to make Brian Thomas Jr.
32:00be the number one last year, like working as the in-breaking player in that offense.
32:04They obviously drafted Travis Hunter and played him as a receiver.
32:07They signed Deami Brown, played him over Parker Washington, which is pretty insane.
32:11I honestly forgot that happened. Oh, I'll never forget that.
32:14Because I was like, Deami Brown, what are we talking about here?
32:18And Parker Washington was a guy that I called Bud Light Golden Tate coming into the league.
32:23And now I kind of think he's just like full ABV Golden Tate because not only won, again, they found the right
32:29role for him as a slot-based player. At the end of the season, he didn't even hit a 60% slot rate until week 15.
32:36Like it was very late that they found him to be a slot-first player.
32:40From that on, like an 82% success rate versus zone, which is like a top 10-ish number in the NFL if you extend it over a full season.
32:48And he was probably the best contested catch receiver I charted last year, probably the best tackle breaker I charted last year.
32:55I mean, he wins small and he wins big.
32:57Like that combo is typically… He's bigger than you think too, like 5'10", 205.
33:01Like he's pretty strong and squatty. I'm not saying these guys, but the headliners for that side of a player is like
33:08Odell or Steve Smith, like the can win small and win big.
33:11And I'm not saying he's on that plan. He's not that type of separator in one-on-one situations.
33:16But being able to do both, especially when you work over the middle, and that's so important for Liam's offense to me just stands out so much.
33:24I misspoke. I've been 51st overall, not 55th. I think there's some concerns about that offensive line, but they kind of did
33:30a pretty good job of like hiding up some of the worries about the offensive line last year.
33:36So I feel pretty confident that Liam Cullen, that coaching staff, is going to be able to.
33:41And if they aren't, it might lead to more short throws.
33:44It might lead to more Parker Washington plays. So I think he'll be fine regardless.
33:48Initially coming into the offseason, I did have Brian Thomas Jr.
33:51ranked ahead of Parker Washington. Remember, you were on our show telling us that.
33:56But one of the biggest variables that I think has changed that is that it sounds like when they do integrate Travis
34:02Hunter as a receiver, it's going to be actually as an outside X, which I think suits Travis's skill set much more
34:08than kind of the slot Mickey Mouse stuff, which means that they were doing last year, which means that when Travis comes
34:15on the field, it's going to be like BTJ that comes off the field.
34:19It'll be Jacoby Myers, not Parker Washington. At least that's the story you can tell yourself.
34:23But this leads me into the player that I would jump through the table for here, my second one.
34:29And ultimately, Josh, like I hear your points about Parker Washington, Boone, I hear your points about Parker Washington.
34:35And there are still some people that have a lot of hope for Brian Thomas Jr.
34:39I do actually have a lot of hope for BTJ.
34:42From a fantasy standpoint, I think it will be up and down.
34:46But he's going to, I think, be a way better player individually than he was last year because he's going to be healthy this year.
34:53I still think Travis Hunter is going to get integrated on like 20% to 30% of the routes.
34:58Like Jacoby Myers is just the ultimate not going to go away.
35:02He's going to be better in real life than in fantasy.
35:05But, I mean, he basically saved their offense last year from week 10 on.
35:09That was when they finally found their groove as an offense, just settled everything down.
35:13They gave him a contract extension. His quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, was number four in passing touchdowns from week 10 on.
35:19That was when Lawrence really found himself. And they're going to be integrating all these multiple tight end sets this year.
35:25I do ultimately think this receiver core could be a little bit of whack-a-mole.
35:29It could be a little bit like the Green Bay Packers of old where it's this real rotation base.
35:35So I sit here and throw all that out there.
35:38And I just think to myself, well, instead of trying to solve this puzzle, instead of trying to crack this nut, which
35:44I think will be difficult here, why not just draft the quarterback?
35:48Like, why not just draft the guy who's going to be throwing the ball to all of those really interesting players with
35:54the great play caller who had a career high in rushing production last year?
35:58Carries over 350 yards, nine touchdowns, really took off as a scrambler.
36:02I think Trevor Lawrence is the guy to jump through the table for because we can sit here and play the guessing game with the receivers.
36:09I know who's going to get the football every single play, and that's going to be Trevor Lawrence.
36:14So to me, when I get into that third tier of quarterbacks where I really like shopping this year, we've talked about this so much, Boone.
36:22It's such a deep position this year. But Lawrence stands out as one of those priority targets in that kind of 80s,
36:28like the eighth round type play there. Yeah, you can basically draft your entire starting lineup in terms of running backs, receivers,
36:35tight end, and then come back and hit that group and look at quarterbacks.
36:39And he's certainly one of them that I want to go after.
36:42I mean, we saw it last year. He didn't look comfortable the entire season.
36:46He really got more comfortable as the year went on, and yet he was still a top six fantasy quarterback in fantasy points per game.
36:54Like, that's the kind of upside that he offers.
36:56And then you go back to what happened down the stretch, right?
37:00Top five fantasy QB in four of his last five outings.
37:03Now he's showing that consistency. And again, not to harp on the schedule, guys, but if people want to look back and
37:09say, well, the schedule is just so easy for him down the stretch, and he was kind of a merchant on that,
37:16well, the schedule this year is great, like I mentioned with Parker Washington.
37:20So he's going to have a smooth runway. He's going to be more comfortable in this offense, and he's already shown us he can do it.
37:27I was laughing because the first, what, Matt, three or four weeks of last season, his wide receivers had no clue where to line up.
37:35No clue. The three snap penalties were absurd. I think they broke the record for, like, illegal procedure or illegal motions, illegal shifts, the whole deal.
37:42It was real bad. Travis Hunter's at the heart of it, Brian Thomas Jr., all that type of stuff.
37:48So you would like to think in year two of this system, they don't set themselves up for first and 15s, and
37:54instead you get some first and 10s and all that.
37:57Boone, just to ask you, we know Matt pretty well.
38:00Do you buy this? Do you buy this as a player for him that, you know, he is willing?
38:05Because, like, again, last year he was, what, the quarterback six at points per game.
38:10He's going as the quarterback 10. That 10 to 6 is based on the nine rushing scores versus the four to five
38:16rushing scores, and maybe because they're moving 80% of their offensive linemen into new places that, like, on a negative note, that
38:23might force him to scramble a little bit more and get some more rushing on top of it.
38:28But I'm not sure if I'm getting a full commitment here from Matt.
38:32I'll ask you a question. Yeah, go ahead. Do you believe what Josh is saying right now, or is he just trying
38:38to figure out if you're going to take Trevor Lawrence in the draft on Tuesday?
38:42I think there could be some of that. Let me go ahead and back this up with some hard data.
38:48Okay. A little table here. Fortunately, everyone else can't see this, so this is really good video podcasting here.
38:54I've got this ADP tool that compares my rankings versus ADP.
38:57This one green spot here where I'm seven spots ahead.
39:00That's Trevor Lawrence, buddy. So, yeah, that's proven with data that I believe what I say.
39:05How dare you question my integrity in front of all these people?
39:08For the people, you know? But to help people draft me, we talked about the running backs in that range of the
39:14one-two turn and how I kind of like all of them.
39:18I'm willing to take all of them. The quarterbacks in that range, yes, you like Trevor Lawrence, but it's kind of the same thing.
39:25It's like just wait for the value. If it's Dak Prescott, if it's Lawrence, if it's Brock Purdy, if you get lucky
39:31in like a Jalen Hurts or somebody from the tier kind of above in my mind falls to that range, which I've
39:37seen happen, you just want to grab a quarterback there and you'll feel really good about it.
39:42Our guy Scott Pianowski says it really well. It's like a New York subway station.
39:47You miss one train and another one's coming. Someone takes a quarterback, another one's coming right behind you, so don't worry about it.
39:53So, yeah, I mean, listen, I love Trevor Lawrence this year.
39:57I'm really excited about the whole Trevor Lawrence experience.
39:59And Josh, don't ever discount that. I would be willing to jump through the table just to take a problem off my hands.
40:06And I kind of think solving the Jaguars receiver room is a problem.
40:10I'm willing to jump through the table here for Trevor Lawrence to just be like, I'll just get the guy that's going
40:16to throw them the football this year. I get the thought process now.
40:20There you go. All right, Boone, give me your player that you're going to jump through the table for here.
40:26So we've talked about a lot of guys that are in similar situations to last year, or at least the end of last year.
40:33I mean, you can make an argument that Saquon Barkley, some things have changed.
40:37You can make an argument Derek Henry as a new offensive coordinator.
40:40But we just talked about a couple guys where we're hoping that they continue to do what they were doing last year.
40:47The guy I'm going to talk about right now is the one that is experiencing, I think, the most change so far from who we've talked about.
40:55It's Devonta Smith on the Eagles, right? We've seen this guy as an overqualified number two receiver in that Eagles offense for a while.
41:02And he's been pretty good for fantasy in that role, right?
41:05Three times he's finished as a top 24 fantasy receiver and fantasy points per game.
41:09Now we're taking A.J. Brown out of the mix here.
41:12Now we have some stat lines from games where A.J.
41:15Brown was not out there, and it looks pretty good, right?
41:18Six for 84, seven for 79, seven for 76 and one.
41:21You know, averaging 10 targets per game in those contests, 32.9 target share in those games.
41:26Like he has shown that he's up for the challenge.
41:29If you want to put me in that number one role, I can do it.
41:33They've gone out, they've got some other pieces that are going to try to fill that A.J.
41:38Brown role. They're not one for one guys that are going to step in.
41:42They're going to try to kind of money ball it, right?
41:46Yes. One of them is Dontavian Wicks. I don't know if you've heard of him.
41:50Oh, baby, I've heard of him. One of them is Makai Lemon, who has dealt with a ton of injuries here.
41:56And I think we've seen this happen with rookies, especially rookie receivers.
42:00They just often get off to slow starts. You're talking about him missing time at OTAs with hamstring issues, training camp.
42:06He's back now, but he's got a bit of a learning curve to go through, and we're probably going to see him start the season slow.
42:13So I'm looking at Devonta Smith and saying, man, last year he wasn't even terrible.
42:18He finished his wide receiver 33, which was well below those other marks that I said.
42:22But it was a bad year for that offense in general.
42:26Yep. And also, you look at what he did touchdown-wise, just four touchdowns last season.
42:30That's the difference. And he scored at least seven in each of the prior three seasons, right?
42:35And if you bump that up, it changes everything.
42:37So now you're taking away this number one receiver.
42:40I think he's more than ready to step up into that role.
42:44The touchdowns could come back. I think the offense in general under Mannion is going to be better.
42:49I'm very, very excited about him. I don't want to say easy schedule again, but he does have an easy schedule, just like Saquon Barkley.
42:56All of the Eagles have easy schedules this year.
42:59So I think get in on that offense, right?
43:01Like they're down. People are down on them in ADP.
43:04I think you should be buying pieces of the Eagles this year because we're going to see a bounce back.
43:10And Devonta Smith is one of the main guys that's going to do that.
43:14The on-off splits, 252 routes since 2022 with A.J.
43:17Brown off the field. On those plays, Devonta has been targeted on 29% of his routes, 37% of the team's targets with 2.6 yards per route run.
43:25Like he's just a really good player. Matt, I test said over the last year and a half, he just simply outplayed A.J.
43:31Brown in some games too. Now it's not necessarily in every game.
43:35It's probably closer to 50-50, but for how people talk about A.J.
43:38Brown as a bona fide wide receiver one and oh, we haven't seen Devonta Smith do it.
43:43Again, just my eyeballs would tell me that he absolutely has a talent across the league to fill in in that role.
43:50Yeah, I mean, I can back that up too.
43:5284th percentile success rate versus press last year, 90th percentile success rate versus zone in reception perception.
43:57And the funny thing is, Josh, like we've actually seen proof of concept of him one being a number one receiver.
44:03His rookie season, he led the team with over 900 receiving yards when they were not that good passing the football either.
44:10And in that 2021 season and through 2023, he was playing as the outside on-ball player.
44:14I mean, and while then averaging 64 just about yards per game, which would have been top 15 mark last year.
44:21And that was with A.J. Brown on the field.
44:23So what can he do with now Brown removed, going back into that X receiver position where, like I think the cool
44:30thing about Devonta Smith too is that we've talked about how they want to transition the offense into being more under center,
44:36you know, Sean Mannion, the whole deal. Like Devonta Smith can absolutely live in that world because he can run those big, like in-breaking routes off play action.
44:44We actually saw that in the Giants game before the bye when A.J.
44:48Brown was not playing in that game. He was the number one target.
44:52He was just smoking them over and over again, under center play action, dig routes.
44:56But we also know that when they probably sometimes will hit the wall offensively and they've got to kind of go back
45:03to the typical Jalen Hurts, spread it out, spread and shred deal, like he can live in that world too because he's so excellent on the comeback routes.
45:11But in those seasons that I mentioned for Smith when he was pretty good for fantasy in the number two role, we also have to remember A.J.
45:19Brown was a top 12 fantasy receiver in those seasons.
45:21Like that's what we're removing here. So there's room for him to step up and for some of these other guys like
45:28Wicks and Lemon, who I think you should still be drafting.
45:31I think there's value where they're going in draft still.
45:34You can really get in on a bunch of pieces of this offense.
45:38What would you put the probability, Matt? And this might be a low percent for some people that Devante Smith will just straight up outscore A.J.
45:45Brown this year. And it shocked me. I looked at it this morning.
45:49A.J. Brown now in consensus rankings is the 13th overall player.
45:52Like that ADP just keeps going up and up and up.
45:56But again, eye test wise, just eye tests. There were some moments last year, Matt, where it didn't feel like A.J.
46:02Brown was at his best ball. And I wouldn't be surprised if we haven't seen the best ball yet from Devante Smith.
46:08I have Devante Smith ranked ahead of A.J. Brown.
46:11There it is. I would take Devante Smith ahead of A.J.
46:14Brown. That's what I'm trying to pull out of you.
46:17And I pretty much maintained that before the trade, after the trade, all the way through the offseason.
46:22And, you know, Brown, I think they're in the same tier.
46:25I think Brown can have a really nice season.
46:28No one else thinks they are. I definitely think they are because that's how highly I think of Devante Smith.
46:34And, you know, yeah, I do have a little bit of concern about A.J.
46:38Brown maybe taking a step back, maybe not falling off the cliff, although this 29-year-old receiver who has to get his knee
46:44drained twice in every game leading up to the Super Bowl.
46:47So a couple of years ago, there's definitely more risk there than people want to admit.
46:52We are now halfway through our players who we are willing to jump through the table for here this year.
46:58But we are not halfway through fantasy draft season.
47:01Fantasy draft season is almost over. OK, so we got week one is right around the corner.
47:05So the people out there need some help and we've got something that can help them.
47:10Draft Smarter this season with the Yahoo Fantasy Ultra subscription, which includes a 150-page plus draft guide access to our strategy lab.
47:17Even better, right now, we are offering a 25% off discount for the first year of your annual subscription fee through September 7th, 11.59 p.m.
47:24Pacific. OK, that's when that thing stops. So you need to get that done before then.
47:28You can claim your discount today at yahoofantasy.com slash plus.
47:31And I can attest this personally. I know the boys can as well.
47:35A lot of work goes into it. A lot of work goes into Yahoo Fantasy Ultra, so it can definitely help you draft a little smarter.
47:43Constantly updating here. A lot of work is still going into it.
47:46A lot of work is still going into it.
47:49A lot of updating currently. Josh, I feel like you made some updates recently to the next player you're going to talk about here.
47:56Let's talk Jadarian Price, the rookie running back out of the Seattle Seahawks.
48:00This is a funny player in that whenever I have a conversation with someone about Jadarian Price, I just had it with
48:06Boone back in our guest green room. And Boone is looking at consensus rings.
48:10He's like, man, I'm way ahead on Jadarian Price.
48:13I had that same exact moment with Hayden on our show.
48:16And so I did the same thing. And it led me to saying to myself, I need to talk about Jadarian Price
48:22more and more and more this month because I think he's one of these players that we could look back on it
48:29and say he wasn't getting enough attention during fantasy draft season.
48:32I mean, so much of the focus based on what happened last year with K-9 and Zach Charbonnet is going to be,
48:38well, how's the running back split going to be this year with the Seahawks?
48:42And right now, that's just Jadarian Price, by the way, a first round pick in the NFL draft, and George Holani.
48:49To me, it's not going to be as rigid.
48:51It's not going to be the same. You know, it's not going to be the case of Ken Walker III, my beloved
48:58player, getting the Seattle Seahawks into the red zone, and then, you know, Zach Charbonnet popping in for 65% of the red zone touches.
49:05I do not think that George Holani is going to get 65% of the red zone touches.
49:10And in fact, if he just gets the third down and passing down work, great.
49:14That's like the least valuable touches and opportunity a running back can get in fantasy football.
49:19So for as long as Zach Charbonnet is out of this lineup, there's a chance for Jadarian Price, to me, to go absolutely nuclear here, right?
49:26Now, there's been a lot of, let's say, optimism about Zach Charbonnet returning.
49:30I'm just going to fade that, to be honest.
49:33I mean, he had major knee surgery in February, and I don't think he's going to be nearly the player that he was last year.
49:40So while it's probably a directive from Mike McDonald to split some carries, I just don't think it's going to be, again, as rigid.
49:47And we also probably have a two-game runway here for Jadarian Price to like really get going.
49:52And you're taking him in this section, and we're probably going to talk about this, with a bunch of split backfield players,
49:58he might just be the best of the bunch.
50:01So I moved him out of that range of the split backfield guys into my fourth tier, 58th overall player because I
50:07just sat there and looked at it, Josh, and Boone, I'm curious, well, moved him ahead of one of the guys that
50:14you made a really compelling argument for in New York City the other day.
50:18You're like, Quinchon Judkins, great schedule this year, bold prediction, the whole deal.
50:22I was like, I'm actually going to move him ahead of Quinchon Judkins.
50:25I also have him one spot ahead. Okay, well, there we go too.
50:29And ahead of, certainly, Josh Jacobs, who's at the bottom of that tier for me.
50:33Yeah, I'm taking Janarian Price over Josh Jacobs at this point every single time.
50:38And again, I'm even looking at the other guys in that tier like, is there any reason to feel more confident in
50:44a Cam Scadaboo or a David Montgomery type? Like, I'm not convinced.
50:47I'll just go through it. Trevion Henderson, Basial Tootin, Bucky Irving, Dave Montgomery, Cam Scadaboo, Quinchon Judkins are all the running backs selected ahead of him.
50:55I mean, those are all split backfields and yet it's just Janarians at the end of it.
51:00And I mentioned the schedule. It's the Cardinals and the Commanders in week two and week three.
51:05So again, we might have some like real fireworks early on and then can you put like the special sauce back in the bottle after that?
51:12Do you have a theory as to why his ADP is low?
51:16Because it seems so strange I do. That a first round running back is not getting steamed up in fantasy.
51:22Is it just because there was so much talk that not only would Helani be involved but maybe Emmanuel Wilson who just got back to practice?
51:29I think he was dealing with an injury recently.
51:32One thing too real quick just to jump in, Josh is like, because I know I've said this.
51:37It's like, well, yeah, he was a first round pick but the Seahawks were desperately trying to trade out of that 32nd pick.
51:44So it's like he was kind of a first round pick with not a lot of conviction that would be maybe the argument.
51:51No, Boone, I think it's people like me that told everyone to draft Kenneth Walker III last year.
51:56Sorry. But then people like me told you to draft Kenneth Walker III and we saw when it was just one running
52:02back on the field that is talented that he could have been a league winner for all of us last year.
52:08The other part is Jadarian Price split his backfield at Notre Dame and then he also had basically zero receiving work.
52:15I mean, he had 15 catches, 15 catches during his entire time at Notre Dame.
52:19What's amazing though is during hard knocks when you ever listen to Sam Darnold interviewed in these preseason games, Mike McDonald, Brian
52:25Flurry, the new play caller, all they can talk about is how good of a receiver he is and he's catching the
52:32football and we're seeing these downfield routes and what I've heard through the grapevine is that Mike McDonald wants Brian Flurry to
52:38get, you know, five active pass catchers out there more often that the Seahawks were near the bottom of the list of
52:45the league last year in terms of, hey, running back receptions, anyone else, it's just three active guys out there in routes
52:51and bring some of that over from the 49ers where Flurry is coming from.
52:55So if that's the case, again, I think Jadarian Price just because he didn't show it in college like Ken Walker, the
53:01third, then neither, then he can immediately do that in the league.
53:05Yeah, the fact that he shared the backfit with love too, I think that's a hesitation for folks as well.
53:11Boone, coming to you here for a running back that you're willing to jump through the table for.
53:16I want to know, what have we decided on the pronunciation here?
53:19I always went with Travis Etienne. He says it's Travis Etienne.
53:23He said Etienne more. I know everyone still wants to call him Etienne.
53:26No, it's Etienne. It's Etienne. It's Etienne. If the young man wants to be called by a name, that is the name he gets to be called.
53:34Okay? I think any other approach to it is a little ridiculous.
53:38I agree. Like I said, having the Canadian background, I think I put a little of that French on it.
53:44It's like Cajun. That's where it's coming from. Regardless, it has been a kind of rollercoaster offseason in terms of his fantasy
53:50value because I feel like when he initially went to the Saints, there was a lot of excitement, a lot of optimism.
53:56At that point, we were talking about, hey, Alvin Kamara's probably going to retire.
54:01He's going to get traded. They might cut him.
54:03He's not going to be with the team. And then Alvin Kamara decides, no, I'm going to come back.
54:09And they reworked the deal. And then people went, oh, okay, maybe not as excited about HN.
54:14And now, we have Alvin Kamara injured. Looks like he's probably going to be out for a month or so, maybe more.
54:20He's also an older back. We've seen clear decline from him the last couple seasons.
54:24So when he does come back, yes, he is a legend for the Saints.
54:29And yes, if he's out there, they're going to use him in some capacity.
54:33But he is not the same back that he used to be.
54:36So now, we have HN there. And man, the RB10 had fantasy points per game last year.
54:41Going where he's going, you can get him in the fourth round.
54:45We're talking about how we really want to get these running backs in the first two rounds, right?
54:50How we're excited to start that way. I think HN is one of the guys that you can wait and grab him
54:56and feel pretty good about him as I would rather have him as my second running back.
55:01You could do it though as your number one running back.
55:04Maybe that's what I will do Tuesday. Who knows?
55:07We have no idea how I'm going to approach that.
55:10But you think about what he's done in his career and I almost think he's undervalued, right?
55:15Last year was the third time in his four NFL seasons that he went over 1,300 scrimmage yards.
55:20It was the second time in the last three years that he's posted at least 12 touchdowns.
55:25Like this is a player that can get there especially when he's going to have the volume, especially in this Kellen Moore
55:31offense that is one of the fastest paced in the league.
55:35They're going to use him. They're going to use him a lot.
55:38When Jordan Tyson does come back, I'm so excited to see what the Saints offense could be at its best.
55:44But while he's out, that might even lead to more work for the backfield.
55:48So I'm looking at him as somebody that you're getting as an RB2, but there is legitimate RB1 top 12 value there.
55:54Hayden loves Travis H. So I hear about him like every single episode.
55:58Do you miss Hayden, by the way? No. I'm good, man.
56:01It's been days since you've seen him talk to him.
56:04It's been wonderful. Let me tell you. I have some maybe negative notes.
56:08Oh, okay. This is from the Great Retrieve Bar.
56:11You know, the worksheet. Go check it out. No player in fantasy football benefited from turnovers more than Travis H.
56:17did last year. All right? Per Reeves, H. led all players in fantasy points scored when the drive started on the opponent's side of the field at 82.2.
56:25The next closest running back was Jonathan Taylor at 52.
56:28So 30 more points than anyone else. After their bye week in week eight, Achan rushed for 3.6 yards per carry, 24th out of 32 backs.
56:3532% success rate, 30th. He failed to gain any yardage on a leak high 26% of his attempts over that span.
56:41Now, I think a lot of these numbers I just listed at the end are always attributed to the running back and
56:48it really should be running back plus offensive line.
56:50The Saints offensive line I think is one of the more underrated and underappreciated units across the league.
56:56The two tackles that they have in the first round, they just added David Edwards, Buffalo fans, coming over from the Bills.
57:02Obviously a great rushing attack down there. They only have like one questionable spot in Cesar Ruiz and that's totally fine.
57:08Four of your five could be awesome and just have you one question mark at the right guard spot with Cesar Ruiz.
57:15So, those are the positives and those are the negatives.
57:17He is just one of those players that kind of exists to me in fantasy football this year and I don't really
57:24have an opinion one way or the other and I think kind of his ADP indicates a lot of people in that boat too.
57:31So, I've had a lot of success in fantasy going after some of these guys that I think the public perception ends up a little down on.
57:39If you go back to like David Montgomery with the Bears or Josh Jacobs like the Raiders years and obviously goes to
57:45Green Bay people looked at those guys and they're just like they're boring they're not going to finish near the top but
57:52they were always fantasy values and you could get them throw them in your lineup and profit from it and I did.
57:58I got them on a lot of diastasis. I think A-Chan is another one of those guys.
58:03I think he's someone that people are down on.
58:06I didn't talk about him like he was the one that was the reason for this.
58:10I talked about his situation. I talked about the offense the volume that he's going to get and who's the competition there?
58:17Like I still have Kendra Miller on a bunch of dynasty benches.
58:20Sicko. I don't think it's going to happen. Right?
58:23If Kamara's not there they don't really have anybody else.
58:26Right? They just traded for Samir White I believe.
58:28I don't know if he's going to make the team but like that's how bad things are in that room.
58:34They're clearly in searching mode. So they went out they gave him a big contract they're expecting him to be the guy
58:40and I'm willing to back him for all those reasons.
58:43Now I will say one other negative that I don't think we've mentioned is six receiving touchdowns last year.
58:49It's probably not coming anywhere near that but he showed a couple years ago he can still get to double digit rushing
58:55touchdowns so I'm not overly Josh questioned my integrity earlier about this Trevor Lawrence thing.
59:00For my next guy I'm going to that I'm willing to jump through the table for I'm going to go with a
59:06player I've been talking about all offseason consistently and that is Jalen Waddell like why not finish draft season right where we
59:13started and this is a guy that I think is just still even now in the 30s at the wide receiver in
59:19the overall rankings I still think is going too late like when he's available in the fourth round I will take him every single time.
59:26There are several things that I think people do not understand about Jalen Waddell one of which is just how good he
59:33is even in a broken offense last year he was 11th in successful targets per route run he was 12th in yards
59:39per route run and Josh I know you have a stat that I want you to throw in here in a little
59:45bit to help make my point but just how much more opportunity is going to be available going to the Denver Broncos
59:52when the Miami Dolphins were dead last in plays last year so that's why the raw stats don't look that good but
59:58I mean there's that catch in the preseason for him where he's off ball in motion and then runs the vertical route
60:05up the seam from the slots like you know how many times he got to do that with the Miami Dolphins because
60:11they were role catering to Tyree Kill almost never like this is a fundamental change in usage for a player can he
60:17get injured yes has he already well banged up in camp yes like do you might you have to put up with
60:24turn your notifications off during Sunday okay don't get the like Jalen Waddell's in the blue tent then he's back on the
60:30field right away pretty terrifying it is irritating but you know what it's part of fantasy football like deal with it suck
60:37it up that's part of the hobby here so for me though Waddell just the upside is not priced into where he's
60:43going when he's available in the fourth round I take him every single time we've seen this story before we saw this
60:50story last year and it was George Pickens we did an episode in May or whenever that was and George Pickens story
60:56was he went from an offense where the quarterback play got better in the new stop the volume got better in the
61:02new stop and then weirdly for Pickens there was a CD Lamb injury that kind of allowed him to be the number
61:09one receiver for a stretch we don't even need that for Waddell we're seeing the other things happening for him and he's
61:15showing up and being that guy that number one receiver in a Sean Payton offense yeah you mentioned they were 31st in
61:22place the Dolphins were and then the Broncos were fifth that means that Courtland Sutton ran 664 routes compared to Jalen Waddell's
61:28442 like a 220 route difference between these two players is not so stuff for a player that was 11th in exactly
61:34yes I mean that is just exactly the environment that in a raw stat standpoint we're just oh you're gonna get the
61:41football a lot more but then it's certain sections of that too I'm sure you might have mentioned this and I wasn't
61:47paying attention over four yards for route run and play action last season and then the Broncos had the third most passes
61:54off play action so you talked about Ryan Heath at Fantasy Points he always brings up that the best and stickiest stat
62:00when it comes to getting ahead of breakout wide receivers is first downs per route run and Jalen Waddle ranked 8th last
62:06year in first downs per route run so to me Fantasy Football is all about drafting players that can finish 10, 15,
62:1320 spots ahead of their individual position rankings of where you selected them it's not this you know you draft the wide
62:19receiver 36 and he finishes the wide receiver 32 you do that 7 times and pat yourself on the back and think
62:26you're good at this Jalen Waddle is one of these guys where he is being drafted right now as wide receiver 17
62:32that I could see finishes like the wide receiver 7 100% that's again why I've been beating this drum all off season
62:38yeah just to we've said way too many nice things about Ryan Heath in this show but I will just say one
62:45more time like his research shows that it's actually years like 4 to 6 like the prime of wide receiver he's the
62:51one kind of production yeah I mean and that's where you want to get these guys that's where we have Jalen Waddle
62:58right now which is to my point that we I was talking with you guys in New York City it's a little
63:04too often that people are like oh we've seen this guy for 2 or 3 years like we know who he is
63:10you might not especially when there's a fundamental role and situation changes we have here for Jalen Waddle we got 3 more
63:17guys to get to and we've got to go a little quicker on these ones here because we got to get to
63:23the people's Q&A section after the show here so Boone it's time you got to break the seal here on a particular
63:30team that we haven't discussed just yet well I looked at the list that we had and I said hey there's not
63:36a tight end on that list we should probably talk about a tight end and I said hey look where we're going
63:43to be how could we not talk about a Bills player yes I am the Bills fan in the group here we're
63:49going with Dalton Kincaid and there we go all right the first of all we get for a part time player should
63:55have opened with Dalton Kincaid yeah that was our bad so Dalton Kincaid last year was somebody that I talked about people
64:02should be out there drafting and at the beginning of the season boy did I feel smart Josh oh man he was
64:08out there as a top five fantasy tight end of fantasy points per game he was killing it and then what happened
64:15the same thing that's really happened his entire career and it's just injuries and once the injuries occurred it was all downhill
64:21after that after he got hurt yes he did come back eventually but he never played on more than 38% of the
64:27snaps after that injury you can't do that much in that scenario even before that though he still wasn't playing that much
64:34or at least as much as I'd like to see him play early in the season it was still around 50% of
64:40the snaps in past years we've seen stretches where he's been out there for 70 80% hasn't been a full season yet
64:47but it's not like the bills don't want to do that with him we just need him to stay healthy he's dealt
64:53with these injuries his whole career let's see him stay healthy this year and finally come through and where you're getting him
64:59you're not getting him in a range where you have to pay up this year you get him down at like tight
65:06end 10 there's no risk involved you could take him you could take another tight end if it doesn't work out for
65:12him now you're streaming off the waiver wire but I do believe in that range he's the guy that has the most
65:19breakout potential for fantasy this season okay I've got some bad news for you okay when I got off the plane here
65:25in Buffalo the first advertisement I see has Josh Allen Deion Dawkins and Dawson Knox on it not Don Kincaid Dawson Knox
65:31and I think part of the snap count is always going to be an issue here for Don Kincaid right it is
65:38Dawson Knox Jackson brought in instead of the sixth offensive lineman Alec Anderson as it was before and if that's the case
65:44then I always struggle with these tight ends that are you know part-time players however an overarching change this season for the
65:51Buffalo Bills and this is one that you know we bring up more and more as the summer has gone along that
65:57you know since Joe Brady took over the Bills have been 31st 25th and 30th in drop back rate but I think
66:04Bills fans myself Matt Justin we can all look at this more passes are on the table and that's I think how
66:10Duncan Cade can pay off really in a big way it's the buddy effect like Joe Brady is Josh Allen's buddy that's
66:16why he got this job let's all be serious for a second and he's going to do what Josh wants to do
66:23which is probably throw that football a little bit more and I really do think it's going to be a highly concentrated
66:29passing game between Kincaid who I really like as a last call tight end one DJ Moore he's one of the guys
66:36I've changed my mind the most on at first I was like I don't know where I want to rank him in
66:42fantasy maybe a little skeptical but now he's somebody that I'm in to talk about him let's be serious for a second
66:48I really think we zipped through that Dalton Kincaid one a little too quickly here but let's keep moving I want to
66:55bring up Matthew Golden it's Colin's fault buddy he's telling me I gotta keep this thing if it was a cowboy if
67:01it was Camden Brown Matthew Golden second year wide receiver of the Green Bay Packers projected for the number eight scoring offense
67:08in the league this season I mean again former first round pick who he is the ex wide receiver we know that
67:14Romeo Dobbs turned that into just a wide receiver 37 per game finish last year on the wide receiver 35 usage to
67:20me again to me he is 90th overall he's 123rd in consensus 126 right now over on Yahoo I know Jory was
67:27on the show with you two days ago and she said she spoke to Jordan Love because he was peppering Matthew Golden
67:33with targets and the practice she attended and Jordan Love said quote I'm saying true to my reads I'm going through my
67:40progressions and my progressions keep leading me back to Matthew Golden because of the he does great work I think he had
67:46him like 29th that to me is just a little bit of a concern I agree that where you're getting him it's
67:52free there's no risk why not take the extra tight in on there do some chip help give the offensive lineman and
67:59the quarterback some extra time and in that case with Johnnie Smith or whoever else the second tight in other than Tucker
68:05Craft is on the field or Chris Brooks at fullback there's only going to be two wide receivers on the field Matthew
68:12Golden already as a too I do think this is a pivotal season for love where I brought up the analogy of
68:18let Russ cook now it's let love cook which I think this is going to be the moment though where love takes
68:25more ownership of this offense he throws the football more and while I do think Jaden Reed will outscore Matthew Golden especially
68:31the offensive line great point that was great analysis about that offensive line that was fantastic that was fantastic stuff that's going
68:37to lead to more short passes to Jaden Reed so while I do think I would take Reed over Golden still I'm
68:44about 11 spots higher on ADP than Golden even if I have some questions on him the reality is he's priced below
68:50his floor so get pieces of this Packers offense take away yeah Marshawn Lloyd definitely make sure you take him and for
68:57my final one here I'm going to keep this simple this is a player that I've always been you know a little
69:03in the bag for a player that I really like someone that I'm a fan of I would be willing to jump
69:09through the table for maybe the third year in a row on Roma Duns here from the Bears offense because number one
69:16this is another offense just get pieces of this Bears offense like Cowboys that's for you Colin and Bears the answer to
69:22which one do you want is just yes like the answer is yes take offensive players from this team because my God
69:29I think this offense can go absolutely crazy this year and I good wide receiver for eight weeks of last season Ben
69:35Johnson he inherited Roma Duns he drafted Luther Burden and Colson Loveland well he inherited Roma Duns and then ran his whole
69:41passing offense through him in the first eight weeks of the season to the point that yeah he was 11th in fantasy
69:48points per game I don't even care about that part of it he was top 19 in yards per route run like
69:54he was an efficient producer with that volume the offense was finding itself the quarterback was finding itself the players were finding
70:01themselves I think a Duns is going to be better in the second year of he's fine yes that's really what it
70:07comes down to it's not that I'm anti Duns I do think he was maybe keeping the seat warm for Loveland and
70:13Burden a little bit last year as they were rookies and got a little more comfortable we saw them come on a
70:20little more later in the season and now in my this year they're going to bloom even more but yes get in
70:26on I can also be honest and say Roman Duns needs to catch some of those 50 50 balls which he did
70:33not last year but based on who he was as a rookie and a college prospect I made this happen we got
70:39to do the easy thing come up here and yuck it up about players we've been talking about for months and months
70:45now and just put the period maybe the exclamation point at the end very excited now to be joined by I mean
70:52you know him you love him it is Ryan Fitzpatrick himself Ryan good to see you man you looking looking great over
70:58there dude I mean you like this the shirt I mean that looks incredible I didn't realize that I was going to
71:05a pal you know what I'm going to send you some stuff this is the verse line from Dick sporting good and
71:11I'll tell you I you know very fortunate get offered lots of things and a lot of it I just want to
71:18make like you didn't think twice about me wearing or looking like you know goofy in this because this is what I
71:24wear I love it lounge wear and then there's a bunch of workout clothes they've got limitless pants that are unbelievable so
71:30I'm fully in on this verse stuff now and if you see me walking out in the wild you will see me
71:37with my verse pants on well you know I don't know if you remember this but several years ago you and I
71:43did an interview together where we talked about the appropriate buttons to wear yes and you said it's regional and seasonal and
71:50I feel like the verse wear very versatile in terms of regional and seasonal it is so you're Henley I noticed you
71:56had the top button undone and I think if you have in store for me and the guys for Yahoo fantasy draft
72:02weekend but before we just bore the people with you helping me figure out my style let's get into something you actually
72:09know and have plenty of opinions on as well and that's football where let's talk a little quarterbacks here I wanted to
72:15run through some of these quarterbacks right now that are 25 years old or younger entering this season because there's a good
72:22crop of young quarterbacks across the league right now I know certainly as people are considering for their fantasy football drafts not
72:28just the quarterbacks themselves but what are the ecosystems around these guys going to be for the pass catchers 23 years old
72:34only starter 23 years old and you he might not even be starting week one is first overall pick Fernando Mendoza I'm
72:41curious for you like what do you think is the right balance on the does he start week one does he start
72:47later in the season what are your opinions on that yeah some of it does depend on the infrastructure you you don't
72:54want to throw a guy to learn from in terms of the stuff that the fans don't really get to see how
73:00do you watch film how do you interact with the team all these things about being a professional that is Kirk Cousins
73:06so I think he's perfect in that role but I seen a couple throws from Mendoza in the preseason and it's already
73:13like this dude ripping seam balls on time in rhythm I want to see him play and so when you sit and
73:19you look at their schedule I think back to when I was in week think it's week and it's not going to
73:26happen that late it's going to happen before then unless Kirk Cousins lights the world on fire and they're 12 and one
73:32at that point but let's say that it goes how everybody expects it it's going to go you start looking at the
73:39schedule you want them to play in a home game they've got this stretch from week four to week seven which is
73:45Kansas City at Kirk through those and then the next week week eight they go to New I see that circled as
73:51the week that potentially Fernando Mendoza gets to step in but I am I'm really excited to see him play he's got
73:58a good energy about him I I think that was encouraging at least to see just a little glimpse of it because
74:04the more and more he's able to stack that in practice I'm sure they'll feel better about it funny enough actually the
74:11first guy we're going to talk about in the 24 group here is Drake May and funny enough that was kind of
74:17when does he play versus Jacoby Rissette I remember the reaction Ryan when he gets thrown out there his first start against
74:23the Houston Texans defense I remember even some colleagues that I respect in the industry be like you can't start him against
74:30the Texans you're going to throw him to the wolves and it turns out Drake May just fine ever since then he
74:36was able to survive and thrive after that so coming off a really impressive season of course didn't end the way the
74:43Patriots wanted to how you feel about Drake May entering 2026 I feel great about him what he was able to do
74:49last year for his first year in the year I love that addition and it's going to be great for him I'm
74:55a huge Romeo Dobbs guy and I think that's one of the pickups that's like going under the radar a little bit.
75:02This off season, that's going to be huge for him.
75:05But just the chemistry with new receivers, I think that's going to be big for him.
75:09But what an impressive jump he made last year.
75:12And then all of a sudden you have that success.
75:15It's easier for him to take command. It's easier for him to just continue to get better with those leadership things because
75:21it's not an easy thing to do when you're that young and you step into a team and you step into a huddle with grown men.
75:29And so as you start to have success, those conversations and that bravado starts to become easier to have.
75:34And I think you'll continue to see him grow in that respect this year as well.
75:39Man, it is so crazy watching him back last year.
75:42You just forget how young he was while he was having all of that success.
75:46So he's got a really bright future ahead of him.
75:49Real quick on the A.J. Brown thing, because I'm a receiver guy, that's the position I focus in on the most.
75:55As a quarterback, when you've got a guy like A.J.
75:58Brown, who I'm sure you've experienced this throughout the course of your career, a guy who wants to be consistently fed the football.
76:05But Drake May has kind of come in last year where they didn't necessarily have that true number one receiver.
76:11They had kind of a collection of players. How do you balance that out as a quarterback?
76:16Like this guy needs to be fed, but we also have to run the offense as it's intended here.
76:21Yeah. I mean, historically, that New England offense, I mean, aside from Randy Moss, it's like the tight ends and the slot
76:28receivers are guys that are really important to that offense and get fed the ball.
76:32And it's not necessarily a constantly feeding the X receiver, the number one guy.
76:36And so they're going to have to do a good job, play-calling-wise, of moving him around a little bit and putting him
76:43in positions to receive the football and have some success.
76:46But to me, it's all about communication. And that's, again, just as you're learning on the job when you're a young guy, just having those conversations with A.J.
76:54Brown and being upfront and honest and open and not letting anything fester from one week to the next.
76:59I think that's really important. But you also, with receivers, there's also a honeymoon phase.
77:04And they're going to be in a honeymoon phase all year this year.
77:07Like this is, I'm not worried about this year at all.
77:11And then when you get to year two, when you get to year three, that's when you can see some of that fracturing going on.
77:18But I think it's a responsibility of Drake to get him the ball, yes.
77:22But it's ultimately, Josh has to also put A.J.
77:25in a position to where he's going to catch a bunch of footballs.
77:28And with him, it's the in-breakers, it's the go-routes, but it's like the catch-and-run balls over the middle.
77:34That's what he's going to thrive at. And there's certainly going to be a huge role for him in this offense.
77:40And we saw how good Steph Diggs was in this offense.
77:43And A.J. Brown's certainly not going to have any drop-off.
77:46Yeah, I thought we saw, just my personal opinion, I think we saw the first signs of decline for A.J.
77:52Brown last year, which is kind of expected 29-years-old history of lower body injuries.
77:56But the way they can kind of push that off is to your point there.
78:00Move him around the formation, give him some more of those layup opportunities.
78:04And I think Drake May showed he can certainly feed a receiver like that last year.
78:09A guy we're still kind of waiting to see come on is Cam Ward.
78:13Expectations on Ward, the Brian Dayball kind of marriage there in Tennessee.
78:16I don't know, which is, I know that's not the answer that you want, but it's like Dayball is in that.
78:22That's how I feel as well, man. Yeah, it's like Dayball's in the New England mold as well, right?
78:28And so that's an offense that Josh Allen, when he was in that offense, it took him to the next level.
78:34With Cam Ward, I think we'll see. It was interesting to watch quarterback and just to get like, you know, to see
78:40how his mind works a little bit and a little bit about his upbringing and his leadership ability and all those things.
78:47I think the thing that I like about Cam Ward when I see it is like the guys love and respect him.
78:53His teammates believe in him, and that's half the battle right there.
78:57You know, he's got an amazing arm. He has a great ability to run around and throw the ball.
79:02Ultimately, if you're going to be a successful quarterback in the league, you have to be able to play in rhythm, on time, from the pocket.
79:10And Dayball's going to, you know, want that out of him and the system that he runs.
79:15And so to be able to be accurate from the pocket is the biggest, I don't know, with Cam Ward right now.
79:21But certainly the guys believe in him, which is huge.
79:24And he has the physical traits. I think this will be a big year in terms of you've got better guys around you now.
79:31I think that team is heading in the right direction.
79:34Their uniforms look sweet. But can we capitalize on that and see growth, you know, from week one to week four to
79:40week eight, all the way throughout the season? Same kind of age range here.
79:44Jackson Dart, another year or two quarterback. What does he need to do to kind of take the next step, playing again
79:51in a different offense as he was with Dayball last year, no longer this year?
79:55Yeah, that one's also going to be interesting. We were out there for Thursday Night Football when they beat the Eagles.
80:01They beat the Eagles. I think they beat the Eagles.
80:04One of the more bizarre games of the season.
80:07One of the more bizarre games. But the energy that he brought and the energy that Scadaboo brought, I mean, it was like two frat boys.
80:14And it just completely flipped that team when they were out there playing.
80:18And so I think that part of it, that part of it reminds me of Josh Allen.
80:23When he's out there, if you just do the vibe check, like guys are wanting to play harder, good things just seem
80:30to happen when he's on the field. So I'm really interested and excited for that too because you look at kind of
80:36the wealth of talent around him now, it's just that's difficult.
80:39Coordinator to coordinator every year like some of these young guys, but it can be done.
80:44We saw it last year with Drake May and the step that he took.
80:48So I like Jackson Dart. I love the way that he plays.
80:51I don't really think, you know, everybody's like, well, you got to stop running so much.
80:56You got to get down. Like there's an art in how you take hits.
81:00And there's a time and a place to deliver blows.
81:03And there's a time and a place where you can dive forward and get a yard or slide.
81:08Like he's still continuing to learn that. But I like the energy that he brings to that New York market and to that New York team.
81:16Yeah. Their coaching staff is so fascinating because I feel as if what Matt Nagy brings to the table is very different
81:22than like what Greg Roman brings to the table as a run game designer.
81:26I think they're passing. Very, very different. Right. So they're one of those teams, Ryan, I feel like by week four, especially
81:33as Malik Nabors is working back in the whole deal, you know, getting back up to full speed.
81:38We might not see the vision of them early on the season, but don't you feel like they're a team that may
81:44by the end of the year we might have a better grasp on what they are?
81:49Yeah, I do think so. And, you know, you just think about the history of Harbaugh and, you know, how impressive he has been.
81:56But he's got a – it's a whole new culture that he's installing, right?
82:00So sometimes that just doesn't take hold right away.
82:03So, yeah, it's certainly a team. You know, we're going to kind of have to wait and see halfway through the year,
82:09you know, how it's going and we could see some real growth in the back half of the year by them.
82:15Okay, so guys age 25. We have Caleb Williams, CJ Sraud, Bryce Young.
82:19Let's start with Caleb Williams here. And I'm going to need your help on this one, Ryan, because I'll be honest with you.
82:26I am so sky high on this offense this year.
82:29Yeah. Okay, like I was mentioning a receiver guy, reception perception.
82:32Love Roma Dunze. Love Luther Burden. Like when those guys are healthy, I think they're going to be a badass tandem.
82:38Oh, by the way, Colson Loveland was the most targeted player on the team during the playoffs.
82:43He's incredible. Ben Johnson might be one of my two or three favorite play callers in the NFL right now at this moment.
82:50Caleb Williams obviously can run really hot, right? Like, you know, the highs are really high.
82:54Am I getting too over my skis with this Bears offense and the Caleb Williams experience?
82:59Because, man, it's really hard not to be super bullish on this unit right now.
83:03Like when I pull up my fantasy rankings, compare them to like where people are being drafted.
83:08I'm like, I'm higher on this guy. Every single Bears player right now.
83:12Right. Yeah, Luther Burden is getting some excitement in those drafts, right?
83:16So I met Colson Loveland this offseason. We had him on the show last year, but you don't really get to talk to him.
83:23I met him this offseason. You want to talk about, first of all, just like a very mature kid, like introduced himself
83:29to my wife, kept her in the conversation, like just everything.
83:32He had some depth to his answers and things.
83:35So I came out of it like not only is this dude, you know, however big he is, 6'6", and like an unbelievable tight end.
83:42He's a good-looking dude. He's got great manners. Like I am so bullish on him.
83:46You saw what he did at the end of the season for them.
83:50But so DJ Moore leaves, right? You just see quarterbacks develop their favorite targets.
83:54They develop a rapport, guys they like throwing to.
83:57So Colson Loveland is obviously the top guy on that list for Caleb Williams right now.
84:02And you could see Luther Burden like really kind of took off.
84:05They have a good rapport. And, you know, DJ Moore, his production, you know, kind of fell.
84:10He had some big moments, obviously. But I see DJ Moore like having a huge year in Buffalo because you can already
84:16tell the chemistry was there with Josh. And it just wasn't necessarily there with Caleb for whatever reason.
84:22But I am also very excited to see where they go.
84:25And it starts to me with Ben Johnson and how he's completely changed that culture.
84:29And he's an absolute psychopath. The thing that I'm interested in watching as we go forward here, adversity.
84:34Adversity between Ben and Caleb. Yeah. And how does Caleb handle that?
84:38And how does Ben handle that? You know, there are going to be points this season where they'll face more adversity than they have.
84:45We talked about the honeymoon phase. And when that ends and there is friction and you do develop scars, like how is
84:51that going to go with those two guys? Because I do feel like Caleb has the type of personality to where it could split in different directions.
84:59And I hope it doesn't do that because it'll take maturity on both of their ends.
85:04But very bullish on Caleb, Ben, and the Bears offense this year.
85:07It really is like a marriage, you know. I mean, I know you've been married for a long time.
85:13Spend a lot of time together. A lot of time together, dude.
85:16Yeah. My wife's in nursing school right now. She's on summer break.
85:20We're spending a lot. I work from home. We're spending a lot of time together right now, you know.
85:25And it's been great, by the way. No friction.
85:28No friction in the Harmon household. But, you know, it's like you're married to that play caller and that coach.
85:34You guys are married together, man. So there's going to be ups and downs.
85:38So, yeah, it's just one of those things where Ben even said it.
85:42Like, they're the number one regression candidate this year, quote unquote.
85:45When that's what I love that he's embracing that, too.
85:48Right. I love that he's it's a good message to the team because, I mean, you look at all the games they
85:54pulled out last year at the end. It's like, you know, Washington two years ago did great.
85:59And then they had, you know, they had some injuries and stuff.
86:03But I agree with him. I'm glad that he's confronting that and facing it and not afraid.
86:08It's not taboo. Like, he's not afraid to bring it up.
86:11Yeah. Plus, a little bit of bulletin board material doesn't hurt along the way as well.
86:16CJ Stroud, 25 years old. Let me ask you this.
86:18Are we over indexing on the last thing that we saw with CJ Stroud?
86:23Because the last thing that we saw, I tweeted this out at the time.
86:27It was one of the 10 worst quarterback performances from EPA per dropback standpoint in the playoffs since 2007.
86:32Long time. But he was a top 10 quarterback by EPA per play during the regular season.
86:37So where's the truth here with CJ Stroud? It's a big year for him.
86:41We know that. You know, it's hard going into a season.
86:44You've got a defense that's that dominant. And it's difficult because I've had years where coaches have said, guys, we just lean on our defense here.
86:52Don't turn the ball over. We're going to be fine.
86:55You can't play quarterback that way. You just can't.
86:58There's got to be an aggressiveness. There's got to be a mentality.
87:01And so this is a huge year for him.
87:04I'm really rooting for him. I mean, if he plays well, to me, they're probably the favorites in the AFC.
87:09Yeah, right. Right. You know, which I mean, that defense last year, again, our Thursday night game against Buffalo, what they did to Josh Allen.
87:17I mean, it was incredible. But I feel like he has regressed a little bit.
87:21He has regressed in the last few years, and you just want to see more, and you want to see more.
87:27And so, you know, he's a guy heading into the last year of his rookie deal before they do the fifth-year option.
87:34And is that right? Yeah. Before – yeah. And it's like there's a lot of guys that have been picked up, right?
87:40There's a lot of guys that – Herber, Josh Allen, guys that they paid early.
87:44So Houston decided not to pay him early. So they're also in the wait-and-see category, which gives me hesitation, right?
87:50Because they get to see him every day. Same draft class.
87:53Obviously drafted one pick ahead of him was Bryce Young.
87:56It's been an up-and-down career for Bryce Young. I think we can all be honest about that.
88:01But let me throw you this theory, Fitz, based on a conversation I had with someone the other day.
88:07They pointed out that, like, Bryce Young never was going to be great because of the physical tools, right?
88:12You know, we know the size. You know the arm strength, whatever.
88:16Really, for him, it's the mental game that if he's going to jump to the next level, it's going to be because the game slows down for him.
88:24And he just becomes a better pre-snap player, post-snap player, all of that.
88:28Do you buy that theory for Bryce Young? And do you buy Bryce Young kind of taking a step this year?
88:34I just – I don't see it with Bryce.
88:37I don't see it consistently. I don't see things that he does that jump off the page to me.
88:42So, I mean, I think last year was his ceiling.
88:45Like, that's how well we're going to see him play.
88:48And so, you know, if you're the Carolina Panthers, it's wonderful.
88:51You have a viable starter in the NFL. But for a guy that was drafted where he was, like, is that what you want?
88:58So that's what – I think what we saw out of him last year is the ceiling of what he'll achieve in the NFL.
89:05That makes sense. And it's just can everything around him be exactly what you need, which is a tight wire to walk, right?
89:12Like everything around the quarterback has to be at a certain level.
89:15Well, one last thing because I know we got to get you out of here, Ryan.
89:20But just real quick, let's end this conversation talking about a quarterback who's not 25 years old, and that's Josh Allen.
89:26We're going to be in Buffalo for Fantasy Drafts weekend.
89:29So it just makes sense to end the conversation.
89:32State of the state with Josh Allen. What are you expecting with the new offense?
89:36New-ish old offense, right? It's just Joe Brady's there, but he's the head coach.
89:40How much do you think things will change, and where are we at with Josh Allen at this point?
89:46I mean, he's entering the prime of his career, right?
89:48And so this is like – this window is a Super Bowl window closing for the Bills.
89:53It's never closed when Josh Allen's a quarterback. And I think the vibes that are coming out of training camp, and even
90:00in that first preseason game, you don't put too much stock in preseason and all that, but there's going to be an
90:06aggressiveness with this team that there wasn't in the last few years.
90:10That's going to be defensively with Jimmy Leonard getting after people, and that's going to be offensively with putting the ball down the field a little bit more.
90:18And so much of being a great team in the NFL, yes, you have to have the talent and the players, but
90:24is the chemistry of the locker room. And Josh is the ultimate chemistry team glue guy, and so I'm really excited to see where that goes this year.
90:32Now Joe Brady, he's going to have a lot of things to figure out as a head coach.
90:38He goes from offensive coordinator who's buddy-buddy with everybody to the head coach who has to draw the line in the sand
90:44sometimes with some things, and so how does he make that transition?
90:48That's going to be really interesting for us to kind of watch as they face adversity and the season unfolds this year.
90:54But, you know, I'm a homer, man. There you go right there.
90:58The Bills, like, this is the year, baby. Yeah, it's so much fun to watch Josh play and the growth that he has shown.
91:05I think he takes a big step this year just kind of with the unleashing of that offense and Joe Brady calling plays.
91:11Like you said, you don't want to put too much stock in a preseason, but pretty exciting to see, you know, deep
91:18shots down the field to Khalil Shakir. Like, hey, we're getting the ball and DJ Moore's in his hands getting explosive after the catch.
91:25That's some of the stuff we just haven't seen.
91:27So it's going to be fascinating to watch Joe Brady put his stamp on the offense, and you always got a shot.
91:34I know it's tight, Bills fans, right? I know you feel like that pressure is always on you, but you always got
91:40a shot as long as Josh Allen is in the mix.
91:43Tough opener with Houston, too. Tough opener with Houston at Houston.
91:46Yeah, that's always going to be a tough one.
91:49Ryan Fitzpatrick, you're the man. Really appreciate it. This has been a great quarterback primer for the people out there.

92:18tell me who's been going up and down his rankings after a full slate of preseason action and roster cutdowns.
92:24So many things are happening. I mean, Quinn Ewers was traded to the Jaguars in the middle of this show.
92:30Wow. We need Boone's full thoughts on it. He's going to have at least 20 minutes, I think, on Quinn Ewers.
92:36So that's absolutely electric. Again, shout out to an incredible day here at this Dick's House of Sport.
