Schultz posted 140 yards in week two against the Bengals but has managed only 102 yards across the four games since, a significant production decline; he carries a position-high 37 targets without a touchdown this season. Schultz posted a 12-140-0 receiving line against the Bengals in Week 2 but has managed just 12 receptions for 102 yards in four games since. He holds the unfortunate distinction of having the most targets (37) of any tight end without a receiving touchdown. While C.J. Stroud is cooking, Schultz's inability to convert targets into touchdowns remains a concern.

Schultz is getting phased out in Houston's offense due to a crowded target tree with too many options; he's expected to have sporadic production (e.g., 'six for 75 game') rather than consistent weekly role, similar to Trey Tucker's inconsistency with the Texans.

Although he caught 4 of 6 for 33 yards (16.7% target share, up from 11.1%) on 25 of 63 snaps (40%, down from 52% in Week 5 and 64% in Week 4), his role is shrinking. NegativeUsageOct 20, 2026Fantasy Life Articles

Dalton Schultz led Houston in targets with six in Week 6 but logged just 40% of snaps (his lowest mark of the season) and ran just 53% of routes. He hasn't reached 60% route participation since Week 3, well below the 70-75% mark desired for tight ends. Schultz relies heavily on volume but doesn't produce much with his targets, and with Marvin Harrison Jr. getting more involved each week and Tank Dell set to return, there is little left for him; he offers a low floor and very low ceiling.

Schultz could not maintain his footing on a key 1st half reception on a third down, forcing Houston to punt. The source attributes this to the slick field conditions at Wembley Stadium, which impacted both teams throughout the game.
