Insight page

Carson Wentz

PositiveValue5:50

Jamie Eisenberg advises spending significant FAAB on Wentz in Superflex and two-quarterback leagues, suggesting he could remain the starter all season if he plays well, as Kyler Murray is not viewed as the team's long-term future.

Insight page

Chris Bell

PositiveBreakout5:05

Jamie Eisenberg believes Bell has the most upside of the Dolphins' receiver group, despite a slow start (one catch, 25 yards) as he continues to recover from an ACL tear.

Malik Washington

PositiveUsage4:15

Jamie Eisenberg notes Washington is a viable target in deeper leagues after he led the team with eight targets and played on almost every dropback, finishing with three catches for 53 yards.

Insight page

Malik Willis

PositiveProjection9:52

Jamie Eisenberg prefers Malik Willis over CJ Stroud for fantasy, citing a higher ceiling driven by his rushing floor, which yielded 39 yards and a touchdown in Week 1.

Insight page

Michael Mayer

PositiveRole16:51

Jamie Eisenberg recommends Mayer as a short-term tight end add while Bowers is out, noting his heavy involvement with seven targets in the previous game.

Insight page

Michael Penix Jr.

PositiveValue7:09

Jamie Eisenberg identifies Penix as a priority add in Superflex formats, noting he could step into the starting role as early as Week 2 given Tua Tagovailoa's injury and poor preseason performance.

Insight page

Tre Harris

PositiveRole5:16

Jamie Eisenberg ranks Harris as the third wide receiver to target, noting his role will expand significantly if Lad McConkie remains sidelined.

0:00I'll be honest with you, I've never really enjoyed shopping for clothes, it's just not my thing.
0:05But I do like getting nice clothes and I like looking good and I like feeling confident when I get dressed.
0:10So what's the solution here? It's Stitch Fix. This is an online, personal styling service that has helped so many people get better style effortlessly.
0:17So stop scrolling through a bunch of websites and stop driving to stores and just go to Stitch Fix.
0:22Here's how it works, it's very simple. You take a quick style quiz, you share your size, your vibe, your budget.
0:28You're gonna get linked with a stylist and an actual human being, by the way.
0:32So you get linked to the stylist and they do the rest of the work.
0:36You get sent a fixed box with clothes that actually fit you and make sense for your style and your needs.
0:42And then you try them on. You keep what you like, you send back what you wanna return.
0:47The returns are free, the shipping is free, no subscription is required, and you're gonna get a free try-on for your first order.
0:53So get started today at stitchfix.com slash football. That's stitchfix.com slash football.
0:56An early look at the waiver wire right now on Fantasy Football Today.
1:00Yep, we're going to get some week two help here and we're gonna do it with Jamie Eisenberg who writes our waiver wire column.
1:06And just so all of you know, if you're new to the show, if you're just stumbling upon this video maybe on
1:12YouTube, we have a waiver wire show every Tuesday.
1:15Starts at about 8.40 a.m. Eastern, live on youtube.com slash fantasyfootballtoday.
1:18If you miss it, you can watch it on demand or you can listen to it anywhere you listen to podcasts that's in the Fantasy Football Today feed.
1:25And yeah, pretty extensive stuff. But right now we'll give you a little preview, a little sneak peek.
1:30Jamie, who's the headliner for the waiver wire? Don't forget, we also have a waiver wire show on CBS Sports Network on
1:362 o'clock, excuse me, 12 o'clock Eastern and 2 o'clock on CBS Sports HQ.
1:40The headliner, it's really all about the receivers at this point.
1:43There's so many injuries to so many prominent guys that that's the position I think a lot of fantasy managers will be chasing.
1:49So we're going to, we know that A.J. Brown and De'Zhaun Stribling are out for an extended period of time.
1:55Jacoby Lane as well. We're waiting to find out updates on Lad McConkie and now Jalen Coker and Alec Pierce.
2:00So hopefully those guys will be healthy as well.
2:03But clearly you got to find some quality players and it's a position where you can, some leagues start three or four players at that spot.
2:10So for me, the number one guy is Devon Vele.
2:13You go look at what he did in the game against the Lions.
2:16We know Jordan Tyson's out for at least three more games, maybe longer than that.
2:20You go back to last year, it's now three of his last four games.
2:24He scored at least 11.9 PPR points or more.
2:26Four of his last five games, going back to last year, he has at least six targets or more.
2:32So he's going to get opportunities and I think we'll see the Saints offense continue to throw and throw and throw some more.
2:38So Vele would be the number one guy to go get.
2:41After him, I would look at Caleb Douglas next.
2:43We're probably going to talk about the Dolphins receivers, maybe a different one on a week-to-week basis, but Douglas looked great against the Raiders.
2:50Five catches, 94 yards on seven targets. He was actually second on the team in targets behind Malik Washington.
2:55You could talk, you know, yourself maybe in deeper leagues to getting Washington who had eight targets and played on almost every
3:01drop back with Malik Willis and three catches for 53 yards for him.
3:05I still think Chris Bell has the most upside of the group.
3:08Only one catch for 25 yards, but we know he's still working his way back from an ACL tear.
3:13But for now, Douglas would be the next guy to go get.
3:16And then I put Trey Harris third. That could change by the time we're talking on Tuesday morning if we find out
3:22that Lad McConkie is going to be okay. But if McConkie is out, I think Harris gets a bigger opportunity and a bigger role.
3:29He would be the third wide receiver to go get for me.
3:32Okay. And yeah, Caleb Douglas played, I think Caleb Douglas and Malik Washington played basically every snap, whereas Chris Bell only played
3:3852% of the snaps in this game. Maybe he will start getting ramped up a little bit.
3:43Jamie, how about quarterback? So many. There are so many.
3:45You know, this is one where I think it depends if you're looking long-term or short-term.
3:50First, let's start with the super flex and two quarterback leagues where you should go get Carson Wentz immediately.
3:55And he's probably going to be the player that at least I'll say spend the most fab on because of what that position means in those leagues.
4:02So we don't know when Kyler Murray is going to come back.
4:05I'm at the point right now with if Wentz wins in week two against Chicago and plays well, does he keep the job all season?
4:12I don't know if that's a guarantee, but why would they not go away from him?
4:17You know, last year it was easy to go back to J.J.
4:20McCarthy because Wentz was injured and McCarthy was expected to be their future.
4:23Kyler Murray is not their future. So if they're winning games with Wentz, he may stay the starter all season long.
4:29The next guy to go get for me in those formats, if he's available, would be Michael Penix.
4:34Obviously, Tua Tunga-Vailoa not have a good preseason, injured right now.
4:37Cooper Rush sucks. Penix may step into the starting role as early as week two.
4:41He's still only rostered in 8% of leagues as of Monday, so could be available in some super flex and two quarterback leagues.
4:47And then Drew Locke. Sam Darnall's going to miss one more game against Arizona.
4:51Locke showed well against a good New England defense, and I think he'll be a potential starter for you in super flex for two quarterback leagues.
4:58But in the one quarterback leagues, the first guy that I would go get would be Jacoby Brissett.
5:0320% rostered, 37 pass attempts. It's now 10 of 11 games going back to last year.
5:08I'm sorry, 10 of 11 games last year. He scored 19 fantasy points or more.
5:12You kind of know what you're getting. It's going to be a pretty good floor.
5:16The ceiling could be 25, 26 points, but they're probably going to be in a lot of games where they're chasing points.
5:22This is a rare occasion where they're playing with the lead, and he still threw 37 times.
5:26Like Jacoby Brissett, going to be one of these guys that could cycle in and out of your lineup.
5:32Bryce Young, I know it's not realistic to expect that, but if you go back to last year, and this kind of
5:37ties into Jalen Coker, if you go back to last year, he's now scored at least 20 and a half fantasy points
5:43in six of his last nine games, including week one.
5:46So it's been a pretty good stretch for Bryce Young as a fantasy quarterback for someone I think a lot of us overlook.
5:52Next for me is I kind of go back and forth between Malik Willis and CJ Stroud.
5:57I think the ceiling's higher for Willis. He didn't have a great game, but still got you 16.7 fantasy points because he
6:03rushed for 39 yards and a touchdown. I think that rushing floor is going to be there for him, and so that
6:09gives him the opportunity, I think, for some more spike games.
6:12Stroud got you 20 fantasy points. I thought he looked good, had the two fumbles.
6:16Buffalo's defense is not very good. I think we'll get some good numbers from CJ Stroud, better than what we've seen the
6:22last couple of years, but he's still got, I think, a cap ceiling, so I put him after Malik Willis.
6:28Yeah, fair enough, and for Bryce Young, he's 22% rostered.
6:30I have to make some decisions about if I feel like he should be my backup quarterback on some teams.
6:36You know, if I should drop, I don't think, I don't know when people are going to hear this, but we'll see
6:42drop Mahomes or Bo Nix or somebody, like, he might just be really good this year.
6:46That was a really impressive performance, or is he just kind of, you know, QB 18-ish, something like that, cycle in and
6:52out, stream him based on the matchups? We'll see, but I'm intrigued.
6:55I'm intrigued. One more note on quarterbacks. We go with the threshold of 65% in our leagues.
7:00Tyler sucks at 66%. If he's available, we'll go get him because he's also going back to last year, six of his
7:06last seven games, at least 20 fantasy points, and I think they're going to be one of the better passing offenses in the NFL.
7:12All right, we'll take a break and give you running backs and tight ends to get on Fantasy Football today.
7:18I love my phone, but not my carrier. What do I do?
7:21Well, there are 250 reasons to join T-Mobile. Like what?
7:24You can keep your phone and your number and T-Mobile helps pay it off, up to $800 per line.
7:29So I wouldn't have to buy a new phone?
7:32Yep. Plus, your plan price stays the same for five years on experience plans.
7:35Nice. Find your reason at T-Mobile.com. The virtual pre-bid card card typically takes 15 days after rebate submission price guarantee on talk
7:41text and 5G data exclusions like taxes and fees apply.
7:44Jamie, are there any running backs for those teams that need help?
7:47So not a lot of guys widely available. Again, going by our threshold 65% or less.
7:52The one guy that's still available that is a must add to me for two reasons is Kalen Black.
7:57First off, he looked good against the Rams, 14 carries for 65 yards.
8:00But the other reason is we know if something happens to Christian McCaffrey, Black will be, in my opinion, a top 20 running back if not higher.
8:08Next guy would be Tyler Algier. He's right at that number 65%.
8:11He led the Cardinals in every playing time number that you look at carries, snaps, etc.
8:15That's going to change, at least we hope, but I think he'll still have a role and still may get some touchdown
8:21opportunities, but for now, you can use him as a potential flex.
8:25And then the third one is interesting. I don't know if you agree with this or not, but after watching the Giants
8:31game last night, knowing that Najee Harris was inactive and Tyrone Tracy fumbled again, Devin Singletary had four catches in that game.
8:37Cam Scadaboo had no targets. So I think Singletary for me right now is the guy I would look at as the handcuff.
8:43Now that could change if they want to go to Harris as more of the physical back, but we know Singletary when
8:49he's gotten chances to play, he's been productive throughout his career and I think he'll have a role in the passing game.
8:55So he'd be the third running back to go ahead.
8:58But after him, it's just a bunch of guys that played well in some limited opportunities.
9:02Christopher Brooks, I think you got to just keep an eye on that Packers backfield because he outperformed.
9:07Yeah, I'd go get him. Yeah, and if you want to go, there's just the, we don't know what happens when they're
9:13playing with a lead against a weaker defense, which could happen this week.
9:16Like, does Marshawn Lloyd, who had more carries, perform better than Brooks who, you know, averaged over four yards per carry?
9:22I think so, but the fact that we don't know means like, and maybe Brooks just plays better than Lloyd, you know,
9:28so I don't think, right, I don't think Singletary is going to overtake Scadaboo.
9:32I don't know what's going to happen there. It's a good point.
9:35I kind of feel like Najee will be active next week and Tracy won't be and then we'll see, you know, who's playing what roles.
9:42Singletary was basically their third down back, but yeah, it's an interesting thought and we're kind of, we're desperate.
9:47You know, that's how running back always is. And so there's an injury to a starter.
9:51There's rarely a guy on waivers that's really attractive to pick up.
9:55And on the other hand, man, every week last year, we're talking about just like five tight ends.
10:00There's so many tight ends that are like 65, 70% roster that might be available in your leagues, whatever, but what are
10:06you thinking about tight end this week? So I'm going to go short term, depending on what you need, Michael Mayer.
10:11We don't know about, we know Bowers is out this week.
10:14If he's out longer than that, it's easily Mayer just because you saw seven targets.
10:18He was heavily involved in, I don't know what that is.
10:21I have my son's phone. I have my phone in my pocket.
10:25This is what happens as a parent when you confiscate your children's stuff.
10:28You don't know what's going to happen. Excuse me.
10:31Michael Mayer has a short term ad and then Dalton Schultz has the long term ad.
10:3551% rostered for Schultz. Targets were there for him against Buffalo, just the production was not, but we know the Bills traditionally pretty good against tight ends.
10:42So those two would be at the top of the list.
10:45And then I put Hunter Henry third just with the injuries and just the injury to AJ Brown.
10:50I think Henry's going to have a bigger role.
10:53He didn't have as many routes as you would have expected.
10:56Eli Raritan scored the touchdown, but I think the Patriots play a little bit more conservative.
11:00And knowing that Romeo Dobbs struggled, Matt Collins, I think is kind of limited.
11:04Demario Douglas kind of limited. We'll talk about those receivers more tomorrow, but I think Hunter Henry's worth a look.
11:09Then you have, you know, TJ Hawkinson, Pat Fryer, move these guys, you know, five plus targets, score touchdowns.
11:14We kind of just know what they are at this point.
11:17Yep. I think, uh, Schultz also maybe is a short-term play though, because he does get the Bengals who were fine against
11:23Kate Otten, but typically are terrible against tight ends.
11:26I think it's a new difference. We got to, I, yeah, it is, it is.
11:30Um, but it's three years in a row. So, yeah.
11:33Um, but you know, I mean, he had eight targets.
11:35He's just not that, it's not that good with the targets, but, um, okay.
11:39That's, uh, that's it for the early look of the waiver wire.
11:42We'll, we'll talk about it more in depth tomorrow and also tell you who you should be dropping on tomorrow's episode.
11:48For Jamie, I'm Adam. Thanks for watching and listening, everybody.
11:51See you later. Podcasts.
