Alec Pierce

NegativeDepth Chart42:22

Alec Pierce is currently out of the lineup, which has benefited Josh Downs' target share and utilization; when Pierce returns, the receiver room will become more crowded and Downs' target distribution will likely decrease.

Insight page
NegativeInjury44:22

Alec Pierce is now on injured reserve. Matthew Berry notes this was a problem that was supposed to be addressed in the offseason, and Pierce didn't look ready to start the season anyway, suggesting this could be an extended absence.

Insight page

Brandin Cooks

NegativeDepth Chart31:00

The San Francisco 49ers signed Brandon Cooks from the practice squad. Matthew Berry mentions this as a potential desperation play if Mike Evans is unavailable, though he does not express strong confidence in Cooks as a pivot option.

Insight page

Brian Thomas Jr.

NegativeProjection46:48

Brian Thomas Jr. is expected to contribute to the Jaguars' pass-first offense, though the speaker hopes he 'gets going' as well, suggesting he has not yet fully realized his potential in the offense.

Insight page

Caleb Williams

NegativeInjury24:18

Caleb Williams officially ruled out for Chicago this week, as expected.

Insight page

Chase Brown

PositiveValue37:42

Chase Brown holds a massive role with 71% snap share and 78% of Bengals rushing attempts (7th and 4th in NFL respectively). Despite posting 18.8, 11.2, and 8.9 PPR points in weeks 1-3, the role remains elite; league mates may overreact to recent point totals and undervalue him. Matthew Berry notes he's RB19 on PPR points-per-game basis but should be valued as an RB1, making him a buy-low candidate if available at RB2 prices. Brown also carries a 15% target share in at least two of three games, adding receiving upside. Upcoming matchups vs. Dolphins (week 5) and Titans (week 8) present smash-game opportunities.

Insight page
PositiveRole40:50

Chase Brown is an RB1 in fantasy football with a 15% target share in at least two of three games; he's being actively traded in leagues, with multiple sources preferring him over Kyron Williams in trade scenarios because Williams must share the backfield with Blake Corum, whereas the Bengals offense is highly regarded.

Insight page
NegativeValue45:45

Chase Brown was mentioned in a trade example where Bejal Tootin was traded straight up for him, illustrating the market's enthusiasm for Tootin despite backfield concerns.

Insight page

Chris Rodriguez

NegativeRole46:03

Chris Rodriguez is handling short yardage work in the Jaguars backfield as part of a four-way split that also includes LaQuint Allen on passing downs and Amir Abdullah getting periodic drives.

Insight page

Dalton Schultz

PositiveValue27:10

Dalton Schultz has been earning more targets and was really good two weeks ago, though he had a bad game last week. Matthew Berry views Schultz as a viable low-end tight end one against the Cowboys if Nico Collins is out. Interestingly, Schultz has been more effective on a per-route basis even when Collins is active.

Insight page

Davante Adams

NegativeValue49:40

With Puka Nakua nearing return, Devante Adams' value is at a peak window to sell high; however, the decision hinges on confidence in Puka's durability—if Puka re-injures, selling Adams becomes a regrettable trade. Matthew Berry notes Adams still has roster value even with Puka back and looked sharp last week despite being 33 years old.

Insight page

Denzel Boston

PositiveProjection5:00

Boston is averaging 71 yards per game with over 21 yards per second; Matthew Berry views him as a very viable wide receiver three with solid production through three weeks.

Insight page

Deshaun Watson

PositiveProjection4:00

Watson is top 12 among quarterbacks in yards per pass attempt so far this year; the Browns offense looked competent and shocked Pittsburgh with 372 yards in a win, suggesting the offense is now trustworthy for fantasy purposes after preseason concerns about the quarterback situation.

Insight page

DeVonta Smith

NegativeInjury11:15

Smith suffered a hamstring injury and is expected to be out; Matthew Berry notes he had bad injury luck last year with Omari and Hampton and felt he was on a safe path with Smith, who hasn't been a big injury risk throughout his career despite his size. Smith had a monster game in week two and was rock solid through three weeks. Stefania Bell provides context: Smith played all 50 offensive snaps Monday night, did not practice Wednesday or Thursday, and likely felt the hamstring after that much utilization. With a short week ahead, soft tissue injuries like hamstrings can worsen if pushed, similar to Mike Evans' situation in Tampa Bay. Tim McManus reported not much optimism for Smith to play against the Rams, which makes sense as teams prefer to hold players back early in the season.

Insight page

Harold Fannin

PositiveRole5:30

Fannin is clearly a tight end one based on his role and production in the Browns offense.

Insight page

Jayden Daniels

NegativeInjury7:00

Daniels has been officially ruled out for this week's London game but could return as early as next week; he suffered a dislocated elbow (non-throwing arm) and dealt with the same issue last year. Stefania Bell notes he might need surgery in the offseason. He will wear a brace to block extreme movements and should be able to play and be effective while wearing it, though it's still not out of the question that it could bother him again.

Insight page

Jaylen Waddle

PositiveProjection46:41

Jaylen Waddle is getting great production in the Jaguars' pass-first offense alongside other receivers.

Insight page

Jaylen Warren

PositiveUsage6:30

Warren had 20 total touches for over 120 total yards and 15.6 fantasy points against a tough Steelers defense on three days rest after getting significant work on Sunday; Stefania Bell notes that when Rico Dowdle returns, Warren will get some work, but it feels like the toothpaste is out of the tube—Warren is a low-end RB1 until further notice with volume that makes him comfortable to start.

Insight page

Jordan Addison

PositiveProjection23:30

Last week Jordan Addison posted a 36% target share with four deep targets and an average target depth of almost 20 yards. In 14 career games where Addison has received at least a 20% target share, he averages 15 fantasy points per game. If Jefferson cannot play, Matthew Berry would make Addison a must-start and a top-20 play.

Insight page

Josh Downs

PositiveRole41:58

Josh Downs has an 88% route participation rate this season, which is in wide receiver one territory; he's earning all his targets and is a buy candidate despite previous concerns about playing time. His utilization score is 81 over the last two games, and historical comparisons show players with similar scores average 16.4 fantasy points per game versus his current 10.9, suggesting significant upside.

Insight page
PositiveMatchup43:35

Josh Downs faces the Commanders, who allow 6.7 fantasy points per game to opposing wide receiver rooms—the worst secondary in the league per adjusted DVP analysis; this is a fantastic matchup for Downs, especially with Alec Pierce out of the lineup.

Insight page
PositiveRole44:22

With Alec Pierce now on injured reserve, Josh Downs should see an extended role in the Colts offense for the foreseeable future. Matthew Berry recommends to 'buy low on Josh Downs because the role should be there for quite some time.'

Insight page

Justin Jefferson

PositiveInjury22:18

Bad ankle with no practice Wednesday or Thursday, but Matthew Berry believes Jefferson has a good shot at playing this week. Berry notes the Vikings medical staff is excellent and the team has never appeared overly concerned; Jefferson was injured in the first half of week three. Berry relies on the vibes around the team, which feel pretty good regarding his availability.

Insight page

Kyren Williams

NegativeRole41:01

Kyron Williams must share the backfield quite often with Blake Corum; while the Rams offense is strong, Chase Brown is preferred over Williams in trade scenarios because Williams lacks the bellcow role and consistent touches that Brown enjoys.

Insight page

LeQuint Allen

NegativeRole46:03

LaQuint Allen is assigned to passing down work in the Jaguars' four-way backfield split alongside Chris Rodriguez (short yardage), Bejal Tootin, and Amir Abdullah (periodic drives).

Insight page

Marcus Mariota

PositiveMatchup9:00

Matthew Berry has Mariota as QB14 this week against the Colts, who are bottom three in pass defense and allowing almost 22 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks; however, he notes he might drop him a little bit from QB1 consideration.

Insight page

Mike Evans

NegativeInjury29:15

Mike Evans suffered a rib injury that kept him out of practice all week. Stefania expresses concern about the severity; she noted he was struggling to breathe after the injury and received texts from physicians wondering if he suffered a pneumothorax (collapsed lung). While imaging came back favorable and the team is still giving him a shot to play, Stefania would not be surprised if Evans does not play this week because the injury is hard to completely protect from—it's not just about wearing a flak jacket but managing twisting and turning movements underneath.

Insight page

Nico Collins

PositiveInjury25:03

Nico Collins returned to limited practice after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury. D'Amico Ryan said he's hopeful Collins plays. Stefania notes this aligns with early-season injury protection patterns; Collins appears to be in the low-grade hamstring recovery phase at the two-to-four week mark. However, she emphasizes you cannot feel truly comfortable until a player gets through a game without becoming more sore afterward.

Insight page
PositiveProjection26:15

Assuming Nico Collins plays, Matthew Berry says you are obviously starting him. If Collins is out, Berry would not want any Texans wide receiver despite the great matchup against the Cowboys' brutal defense, as none have established themselves. However, Dalton Schultz would be a viable low-end tight end one if Collins is out, and interestingly, Schultz has been more effective on a per-route basis even with Collins on the field.

Insight page

Puka Nacua

NegativeInjury15:00

McVay said he expects Nakua to return in week four; Nakua is the number one most common player on 0-3 teams, suggesting many fantasy managers have him. Stefania Bell has concerns this could be an on-and-off problem throughout the season, not just whether he plays this week. Nakua had issues in camp with his psoas (a deep hip flexor that attaches to the spine and hip), and he told Sarah Barshop he had pain during training camp in a very similar area to his current groin injury but from a different movement.

Insight page
NegativeInjury19:01

Groin injury with psoas involvement; told ESPN's Sarah Barshop he experienced pain during training camp in a very similar area but from a different movement, causing sharp pains and restriction he was trying to grind through. Matthew Berry notes that intermittent but persistent core injuries weaken power and explosiveness, making it harder to gain separation and get up in the air for catches. Berry expresses season-long concerns despite limited practice listing; Nakua told Barshop he had a full practice session, creating uncertainty about actual status. Berry's assessment: "This does not sound like a guy who's close to 100%."

Insight page
NegativeValue20:48

Matthew Berry recommends trading Puka Nakua if he plays this week, suggesting trying to move him for 85 cents on the dollar after a good game. Berry's rationale: even if Nakua plays well, he doesn't sound like he's out of the woods entirely, and the injury may resurface.

Insight page
NegativeInjury48:56

Puka Nakua's injury has been characterized as 'chasing symptoms,' which raises re-injury concerns; Matthew Berry worries it could linger throughout the season despite a hoped-for return in three to four games, creating uncertainty around his durability and long-term fantasy value.

Insight page

Quinshon Judkins

PositiveUsage5:45

Judkins has a 14% target share this season despite not being expected to be a big part of the passing game; Watson is willing to dump it off to him, he plays a lot, scored a touchdown, and looked good. Matthew Berry views him as a rock solid RB2, noting people forget how bad his ankle injury was (fractured dislocation late last year) and that he showed potential during OTAs and training camp doing more than expected coming off such a major injury.

Insight page

Stefon Diggs

PositiveRole10:30

If Terry McLaurin is out with his hamstring injury, Stefan Diggs would expect increased workload in the Commanders offense.

Insight page

Terry McLaurin

NegativeInjury9:30

McLaurin was added to the injury report Friday with a hamstring issue and is questionable for Sunday's game in London; this is breaking news and late-week addition makes it concerning. Stefania Bell notes that being added late in the week (Friday) is worrisome, and while it could be minor tightness, it could also be more significant. Matthew Berry recommends making plans for somebody else and notes this is a good matchup, so the timing is unfortunate.

Insight page

Trevor Lawrence

PositiveProjection46:35

Trevor Lawrence is playing great for the Jaguars, who are operating as a pass-first offense that wants to throw the ball.

Insight page
PositiveProjection46:37

Trevor Lawrence is playing great and leading a pass-first Jaguars offense that is generating strong production from receivers; the offense's emphasis on passing creates a favorable environment for pass-catchers.

Insight page

Treylon Burks

PositiveSleeper11:00

If McLaurin is out, Traylon Burks becomes an interesting flyer in the Commanders offense.

Insight page

Tyler Higbee

PositiveValue21:48

Tyler Higbee becomes a really interesting streamer this week against the Eagles if both Colby Parkinson (has not practiced) and Terrence Ferguson (doubtful) miss. Matthew Berry notes that Philadelphia's defense is vulnerable in the middle of the field, making Higbee an attractive play.

Insight page

Zach Charbonnet

PositiveDepth Chart33:30

Zach Charbonnet was cleared for practice and the Seahawks have opened his 21-day window from the PUP list. He must be added to the active roster by October 22nd, though this does not mean he must play in a game by then. Matthew Berry notes that committing a roster spot suggests the team believes he is approaching playing time.

Insight page
NegativeInjury34:10

Zach Charbonnet is eight months post-ACL, which is earlier than the typical nine-to-twelve month recovery window. Matthew Berry notes this comes with more risk, especially given the usual reason teams wait until after nine months. However, Mike McDonald has been thrilled with Charbonnet throughout rehab work. Berry advises tempering expectations but recommends grabbing and stashing him if available, as the Seahawks running game has been a committee and Jadarian Price is injured.

Insight page

Zay Flowers

PositiveInjury27:40

Zay Flowers was limited in week three but returned to full practice after a hamstring injury that bothered him during camp and was aggravated in week one. Stefania notes the Ravens smartly controlled his volume, keeping him on the field for only 33% of offensive snaps in week three. She expects increased utilization this week now that he's back to full practice.

Insight page
PositiveProjection28:30

Matthew Berry rates Zay Flowers as a top-12 play this week assuming his normal role. On the season, Flowers has been targeted on 48% of his routes despite playing only 37 offensive snaps and scoring 41 fantasy points. Berry emphasizes Flowers is not just running wind sprints; he's being actively targeted when on the field.

2:43In the first hour, we had Nat Coombs. I saw that because I was getting ready.
2:48And I saw, yeah, Nat Coombs. Don't you wish I moved by London?
2:51All my... I know, you're international. Yeah. Like, the show is already international.
2:55Nat Coombs told me that there are a ton of Beadlemaniacs in London.
2:59I don't believe that. There's a huge fan base.
3:02We need to get Beadle over there. He was just being very nice.
3:05She could get mobbed. Not to be confused with Beatlemaniacs.
3:08Thank you. Beatlemaniacs. Thank you. Beatlemaniacs. They love them some Michelle.
3:11She's the bee's knees over there. She's the bee's knees everywhere, as both of you are.
3:16Yes. Stefania, thank God you're here. Thank you. You know, I saw Michelle more recently than I've seen you.
3:22I know. You guys were hanging out in Vegas, which she said is her favorite town.
3:26It's a great town. You don't even know what was happening there.
3:30Beth is going to be mad she were cheating on her.
3:33I know. You know, you could step out. We could have Beth come in and, you know.
3:38Believe me, Beth would be very happy about that.
3:41Beth would be very happy about that. She'd much prefer to spend time with the two of you.
3:46Be like, ah, you go away. You deal with our daughters.
3:49All right. But thank God you're here, Stefania, because there's been so many injuries.
3:53Yeah. Yeah. Where do you even want to start?
3:56Well, I think I'm looking in the right direction as I see this jersey.
4:00I know. Jaden Daniels. We should, I guess before, you know, just because this is a podcast, right?
4:05So the second hour of Roku, this is the Fantasy Football Happy Hour podcast.
4:09The regulars are all going crazy in the Discord as well.
4:12So please join that as well. But let's talk a little bit before we get to all your injuries.
4:18I just want to talk about this, the Browns game from last night.
4:21We talked about it in the first hour from an overall perspective, but fantasy-wise, like, Deshaun Watson, believe it or not, so
4:28far this year, top 12 among quarterbacks in yards per pass attempt.
4:31Like, they looked good. Like, this offense looks competent.
4:34It's weird how, like, you're hesitant to say it.
4:37I understand why, but it is sort of like, do I want to say this?
4:41We thought the Steelers' defense was good and 372 yards against Pittsburgh for Deshaun Watson and the Browns offense.
4:46I think they shocked everyone, including Pittsburgh, who didn't seem to be prepared for the fact that they might lose that game.
4:53I thought, you know, to me, for fantasy purposes, it's, remember preseason, there was a lot of concern about who do you take from the Browns?
5:00How can you trust the Browns when you don't know what the quarterback situation is?
5:05And now there's apparently people you can trust on the offense.
5:08Denzel Boston's averaging 71 yards per game, over 21 yards per second, another nice game for him.
5:13And Casey Concepcion, I know Watson continues to look, they're going to find ways to get, I feel like this breakout game
5:19is going, all the usage is there for Casey Concepcion.
5:22It just hasn't, you know, it was a solid game, 11 fantasy points in PPR.
5:27Didn't have the huge game that we would, that we would have liked.
5:30But I'll say that I think that Boston, Boston is a very viable wide receiver three.
5:35I would say hang on tight to Casey Concepcion.
5:38I think Harold Fannin, clearly a tight end one.
5:40Great. And Quinchon Judkins. You know, I mean, like to me, that was the most interesting thing here.
5:45So far this year, Quinchon Judkins, who we didn't expect to be a big part of the passing game, 14% target share.
5:52Again, Watson is willing to dump it off to him.
5:55He plays a lot. He scores the touchdown. He looked good.
5:58He's a rock solid RB2. People forget how bad his injury was.
6:01That was late in the year, a fractured dislocation of his ankle.
6:05And I think we saw potential because he was back during OTAs and training camp doing more than you thought he would coming off such a major injury.
6:13I think he looks really good running, to your point.
6:16I'm totally comfortable with him. Want to talk a little Jalen Warren on the other side?
6:21Yeah. I mean, look, he was really good. Second, and what was most impressive about this, not only because it was a
6:27tough defense against the Browns, but more importantly, like, after getting so much work on Sunday for him to go on a
6:33road trip, you know, and on three days rest, basically, have another really impressive performance here.
6:3820 total touches, you know, over 120 total yards.
6:41You see it there on your screen. 15.6 fantasy points.
6:44Didn't get into the end zone. But Jalen Warren, when Rico Dowdle comes back, he'll get some work.
6:49But it feels like you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube here, the horse back in the barn, pick whatever cliche you want.
6:56It feels like Jalen Warren, I think, is, you know, a low-end RB1 until further notice.
7:01I agree. I mean, the amount of volume that he is getting makes you comfortable starting him.
7:06No issues there. I want to segue in, obviously, to some injury news.
7:09And you referenced the jersey that's behind Matthew. We did just see the footage of Jaden Daniels, who's in London and did practice a little bit.
7:17But he has been officially ruled out. When can we actually expect him to see him play?
7:22I think it could be as early as next week.
7:25Yeah. I mean, there's a reason that he went to London.
7:28It wasn't just for the, you know. Nice free trip.
7:31Nice free trip. The points for travel. You know, when these teams travel overseas, a lot of the medical staff travels with them.
7:38And sometimes if a player is working enough to be doing some football activity, you want to see how he is on
7:44the field, plus get to regular treatment in. Jaden Daniels, obviously, with the dislocated elbow this year.
7:49This was something he dealt with last year. We were hoping after the offseason that it might not be anything he'd have to worry about.
7:56But early in the season, then immediately goes out and suffers that.
8:00Look, he might have to have surgery, Matthew, in the offseason.
8:03So I just want to prep you right now.
8:06So you don't know that this issue is totally behind him?
8:09To be honest, you don't have to prep me.
8:11I'm not getting the surgery. I'll be okay. Oh, no.
8:14I worry about you when it's one of your commanders.
8:17How would you prep me? Would you bring over a bottle of wine?
8:21Just basically some peanut. Give you a blankie. Yeah.
8:24Okay, thank you. She knows. I know. The fine comes out with me and Beth.
8:28It's not our margarita. But, you know, when you need comforting, it's the peanut.
8:32That's true. But listen, people have asked me, we hear he's going to wear a brace.
8:37Does that take care of everything? A brace helps.
8:39The idea is that it blocks you from going into extremes of movement.
8:43Obviously, he's pretty loosey-goosey at that elbow. So you want that extra protection around it.
8:47If he were having to throw, the situation would be completely different.
8:51We're very fortunate here for fantasy purposes that it's his non-throwing elbow.
8:54So, you know, it's still not out of the question that it could bother him again.
8:59Philaean's wrong. Right. But he should be able to play and be effective while wearing the brace.
9:04By the way, and it's worth seeing, like I've seen him actually dropped in some leagues.
9:09So it's worth seeing just if he happens to be a free agent in your league.
9:13I have Marcus Mariota as QB14 this week. Colts, by the way, bottom three in pass defense.
9:18They're allowing almost 22 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks.
9:21But one thing that, one reason why I have Mariota more as a QB2 this week is QB1.
9:27I might drop him a little bit, by the way.
9:29Stefania, breaking news, literally just tweeted out four minutes ago, Nikki Jabavla.
9:33I apologize, Nikki, if I mispronounce your last name here.
9:36But she does a great job covering the league and the commanders.
9:39She tweets out, Tara McLaurin was added to the injury report with a hamstring issue.
9:44It's questionable for Sunday's game in London. Stefania, this is breaking news, so I know you haven't had a chance to talk to all your sources.
9:51But just in general, anytime you see a player added late in the week?
9:55Friday. That's late. We get nervous on Thursday. And now it's Friday being added with the hamstring injury.
10:01Here's what's hard to know. You are required to add a player to the injury report if they miss any reps, if there is a new injury.
10:08So it could be something where he felt a little tightness and they said, okay, we're going to call it right now.
10:15And you stay out and we'll see how you feel on Sunday.
10:18Or it could be something that's more significant that we come to find out is a bigger injury than we'd like to hear about.
10:25So there's no real way to know off of just that announcement what we're dealing with.
10:30But you should be making plans if he's in your roster.
10:33You've got to plan on somebody else. It's the London game again.
10:37So it's 9.30 a.m. Eastern. So obviously we hopefully will find – so just make sure, especially for those of you on
10:43the West Coast, and you've got McLaurin because this is a good matchup.
10:47Wake up early. You know, follow me on social.
10:49Follow Stefania on social. Beetle will just be tweeting pictures of her dogs.
10:53I've got nothing. Yeah, a disappear dog. But – Good vibes.
10:56Good vibes. But yes, I mean, like you would expect increased workload for Stefan Diggs.
11:01Maybe some – maybe Traylon Burks becomes an interesting flyer if McLaurin is out.
11:05But just heads up on that. Is hamstring – I asked you about hamstring because A, here, B, Devante Smith, who we're
11:11going to talk about next, who expected to be out.
11:14Is that one of the trickier ones because there are so many levels to the severity it can be?
11:20She's so smart. Look at her. As a hamstring owner myself.
11:23Yes. No one likes a braggarty. Matthew likes to say he doesn't have any hamstrings.
11:27I don't have hamstring. I just have nothing. I just have gravy running through my legs.
11:32Gross. Rope. Yeah, it's just rope. It's just like heart and grace.
11:35They're the worst. They can be awful or they can be like, oh, I need surgery.
11:40That's the thing. And it doesn't matter the sport.
11:43You know, this is something that crosses every sport.
11:45You worry about hamstring injuries. But in the NFL, it is one of the most significant injuries when it comes to time lost.
11:52So they call it an injury burden. Like the amount of time lost due to hamstring injuries is up at the top in the NFL.
11:59And it affects every position. But you know who we're seeing in a ton of right now?
12:04And you know if you play fantasy, you know it's wide receivers.
12:08Yeah, yeah. And why? Because there's this constant. They have to sprint.
12:11There's acceleration, deceleration, stop on a dime, change position, acrobatics in the air.
12:15And you're right. There are all these different grades.
12:17And they're not always reporting out to the public like, oh, this is a grade one or it's a grade two.
12:24With Caleb Williams, when he went out, we thought it might have been a grade three where it tears off the bone.
12:30And the grade two is the most nebulous one because it can be a mild grade two where they're back in two to four weeks.
12:37Or it can be a more severe grade two where it's costing them upwards of a month.
12:42Yeah, which freaks me out, especially as it relates to Devontae Smith, my ride or die.
12:47Right? Like I had bad injury luck last year with Omari and Hampton.
12:51He was good when he was healthy, but he missed a significant amount of time.
12:55I felt like I was on a safe path with Devontae Smith, who hasn't been a big injury risk throughout his career despite his size.
13:02He's somebody that's usually out there and it was working.
13:05Right? Monster game in week two. He's been very productive.
13:08He's been rock solid through three weeks. I was feeling really good about my ride or die pick through three weeks.
13:14And then last night. No more riding. Yeah. You're dying.
13:17Thanks, Devon. How screwed am I? Because I have a lot of Devontae Smith this year.
13:22I'm not panicking just yet. Okay, good. Let's look at the context here.
13:25So we know Hamstring was maybe bothering him a little bit, but then he plays Monday night.
13:30He played all 50 offensive snaps on Monday night.
13:33Now, if the Hamstring was so bad then, he wouldn't have been able to get through the game.
13:38He comes out. He did not practice Wednesday or Thursday.
13:41So it's probably a situation where he felt. Or he's not spotted it.
13:45He wasn't spotted at practice of the media portion of the day.
13:48And it's probably a situation where, okay, he felt it after that much utilization.
13:52Now you're going into a short week. And what we know about soft tissue injuries, especially hamstring, is if you're already feeling
13:59something and it's on the verge of getting worse and you go out.
14:03And this happened to Mike Evans in Tampa Bay, if you recall previously.
14:06Yeah, yeah, yeah. He had a hamstring injury, wanted to push through it, ends up pulling it more seriously and has to go on IR.
14:14So all the teams early in the season are trying to prevent that from happening.
14:18So this could be as simple as, again, Tim McManus, who covers the team for ESPN, has said not much optimism.
14:24He plays against the Rams. That was the sense yesterday.
14:27I would say that does make sense, you know, because you're better off holding him back early and thinking about the big picture of the season.
14:35Yeah, it makes a ton of sense. And that's one of the reasons I always tell Beth.
14:39Like, I'm like, look, Beth, I would love to take out the trash.
14:43I would love to make the bed, but, you know, my hammies, it's just, I can't risk.
14:48Have you torn a hammy? Huh? Have you ever torn?
14:51He doesn't have them. I don't have them. It's literally just, it's literally nothing but gravy.
14:56He says he does not. No, I've never, no, I've never actually torn a hamstring.
15:00Joke aside, you have? Both off the bone. Both of them.
15:03That's why I'm very, it's the only injury I'm really, one was tennis and one was gun training.
15:09How do you do that doing that? Because I take it very seriously.
15:12It's one-on-one training. Yeah, it's a girl from Texas.
15:15Because I don't trust other humans. And so he would make you run like obstacle courses to get your heart rate up
15:21so you could at least simulate somewhat how your body would be reacting.
15:25Otherwise, it's just, it's just, it's seriously. Did you hit the target?
15:29No, but so you tore it running is what you did.
15:32It popped, yeah, it popped right off. Yeah, it wasn't the other thing.
15:36But you still hit the target. Oh, yeah. Okay.
15:38No, and shout out the Golden State Warriors medical staff because that first one took care of me.
15:43So that was a big one. There you go, Bay Area.
15:47Also, yeah, don't mess with Beatle. So that's what I learned.
15:50Yeah, well, I've been trying. Me, you can totally mess with.
15:53I'm a win. I'll fold right immediately. But Beatle's a tough one.
15:56She's a tough cookie. All right, Stefania. Do it a little rant?
16:00Real quickly, no, I was just going to say before we get there, I was just going to say I think that,
16:06assuming Devontae Smith misses, I do think Dontavian Wicks, who's still available in over 54% of leagues, like 18% target share on
16:13the season, averaged up to the target of basically 14 yards.
16:16He's averaging like 60 yards a game. I'm going to have him as a flex player.
16:21I'm going to have him in the, I'm going to, I'm waiting until the final Friday injury reports to update my rankings.
16:27But when they come out later on fantasylife.com, I'm a company man, 100% free.
16:31I'll have Dontavian Wicks as a viable flex, as a viable wide receiver three this week.
16:36Again, assuming Devontae Smith isn't going to play. I like the Eagles.
16:39I've talked about this. I talked about this in the first hour of the show.
16:44I know they're missing Zach Bond. I get it.
16:46I still like the Eagles. I definitely like them to cover the three and a half.
16:51We may talk about that later in the show.
16:53All right. I do want to ask you about Puka Nakua, only because earlier this week McVay said he expects him to return in week four.
17:01I saw, I saw this on Reddit that the majority of, oh, there's a, like there's a, or I saw this on
17:07threads, I should say, that the majority of 0-3 teams, like in terms of like most common players on 0-3 teams, and
17:14Puka, not surprisingly, is number one on the list.
17:16It's, listen, I have a lot of shares of Puka Nakua.
17:20So it's you. It's the curse of Stefania Bell.
17:22It's your fault. You could look at it one of two ways.
17:26Why didn't you tell us? There's the 49ers, because he played in that week one game in Australia against the 49ers, so
17:32maybe that was the current, me, 49ers. We talked about this last hour, Beatle believes in curses.
17:37I do, actually. And so I'm telling you, the curse of Stefania Bell is a real thing.
17:42Not that they flew in and like basically went straight to the stadium.
17:46That's 100% their fault. That's on them. That's on them.
17:49But listen, let me take you through for context, because people are like, is he playing?
17:53It's bigger than that. This is actually, to me, a bigger story than that, because I have concerns that this could be
18:00an on and off problem for him throughout the season.
18:03And so it's not just, is he back this week?
18:05It's if he does play, what version of Puka do we get?
18:09You know, when you watch him play, he's such a physical guy.
18:12I mean, that's what makes him exciting to watch, makes him so good at the sport.
18:17Yeah, same. But he's kind of like you. Yeah.
18:20All in. I sometimes get confused. Yeah. I didn't do a show with Puka Kuhu today.
18:24I'm so physical. What's making fun to watch? Anyway, Stefania, yes.
18:28Well, I was going to say he plays with a reckless style that is more in coordination with you.
18:33But here's the thing. He had issues in camp, and they talked about it being the psoas.
18:38Do you know where the psoas is? Oh, wait.
18:41No, I don't. Is that back? No. Where is that?
18:44Hold on. Where are you pointing at it? On the front?
18:47No. On the front. Stefania? Psoas is like a deep hip flexor.
18:50Okay. I thought you were pointing at something else.
18:53What kind of it is that? It's like your bikini line, right?
18:56Like deep though. Here. Like this is where it's so it attaches actually up on your spine.
19:01It's got origin up on the front of your spine and attaches down to your hip.
19:06So it's a very strong core muscle. Okay. This becomes important in the context because now we're talking about puka's groin.
19:12Okay. Groin muscles, inner thigh, you know where that is?
19:15They also come to the center and help stabilize the core.
19:18So groin muscles, also core musculature. When you start having issues that are jumping around different parts of that core, not only
19:25does it weaken the core, which means less power, less explosiveness.
19:28He's talked about, he told Sarah Barshop, who covers ranch for ESPN, that he had pain during training camp that was, quote, a very similar area.
19:35So that's the psoas relative to the groin, but was a different movement that I kind of felt that pain on causing
19:42some restriction that he, quote, was trying to grind through it, but having sharp pains.
19:46This does not sound like a guy who's close to 100%.
19:49And the problem with these type of injuries is when they are intermittent but persistent, you fail to gain power, which means it's harder to get separation.
19:57If you're an athlete like him, it's harder to get up in the air to make the catches that you need.
20:03And if it becomes overwhelmingly problematic, sometimes there's a surgery involved.
20:06Now, obviously, I haven't examined him. I don't know all his particulars.
20:10But the things that he is describing and the way this has behaved and the up and down nature of it makes you concerned.
20:17As far as this week, limited practice listed officially on the injury report.
20:21However, Puka told Sarah Barshop that he had full practice session.
20:24So not really sure where we are in this, but I have concerns for him season long.
20:29Yeah. So a couple of things here real quickly.
20:31Number one, Beatle, nice job not giggling at groin, at the mention of groin.
20:35You're the even true one up here. Just so you know, for the better or worse, Beatle is the HR director of this show.
20:42That's actually true. That's excellent. Thank you. Finally, women rising.
20:45Yeah. Good lord. But obviously, listen, if Puka's active and the positives are it's a one o'clock game, so you'll know.
20:51So if Puka's active, you're starting Puka. But I think the best case scenario here, just going off of what Stefania said,
20:58is that if Puka's active, I would immediately try to trade him.
21:01Like, you know, I mean, again, like, if I can get 85 cents on the dollar for Puka Nakua, like, after a
21:08good game, because again, I agree with you that this might come up again.
21:12And I don't think even if he plays, even if he plays well, doesn't sound like he's out of the woods entirely.
21:18If he misses this week, I will say, Kanata Mumfield is pretty interesting.
21:22Obviously, had the nice game last week. It doesn't feel like Jordan Whittington is going to be a bigger part.
21:28Obviously, there'll be Devonta Adams. You don't love the matchup against the corners of the Philadelphia Eagles.
21:33But Kanata Mumfield, I think, is somebody that is out there in a ton of leagues.
21:37And I picked him up this week. And by the way, even if Puka's active and Mumfield does nothing, don't get rid of Mumfield.
21:44Because again, as Stefania said, I think there's potential for usage there.
21:48By the way, Colby Parkinson has not practiced so far this week.
21:51Terrence Ferguson is doubtful. If both those tight ends miss, Tyler Higbee, I think, becomes a really interesting streamer this week against the Eagles.
21:58Again, you like to attack Philadelphia in the middle of the field.
22:02Zach Bond not going to play in this one.
22:04All right, Justin Jefferson, bad ankle, no practice. Does he have a shot at playing this week?
22:09I think he does. I'd like to see, obviously, what happens today.
22:13He didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday. But he's the kind of player where sometimes you don't practice so that you can be good on the week.
22:20He was injured in the first half of week three.
22:23The team has never really appeared overly concerned, I will say.
22:26A lot of props to the Vikings medical staff.
22:29They're excellent. And if there's a reason to be concerned about him, they're not going to put him out there.
22:35But sometimes you can rely on the vibes. Not always.
22:38But I feel like the vibes are pretty good around here.
22:41And they're feeling pretty comfortable about his availability. Yeah, look, which is great, by the way.
22:46And obviously, if Jefferson plays, you're starting him. But Jordan Addison, who, by the way, I don't know if you know this,
22:52but Moe threw to him at his pro day.
22:55Loves him so much. Loved him so much. Yeah.
22:57Moe likes to drop names of all the NFL players that he's played with.
23:01And I prefer just to drop names of celebrities and stuff.
23:04It's true. It really is. But last week, Jordan Addison, 36% target share, four deep targets.
23:09His average number of the target was almost 20 yards.
23:12By the way, in the 14 career games where Jordan Addison's got at least a 20% target share, he's averaging 15 fantasy points per game.
23:19If Jefferson can't go, Jordan Addison would be a must start for me.
23:23He'd be a top 20 play. Stefania, I'm just so happy you're here.
23:27Oh, I'm so happy, too. Hey, a couple of things that came in over the break real quickly.
23:32Just Brad Biggs covers the Bears. Does a great job.
23:35Caleb Williams officially out. We expected that. But he's not going to play for Chicago.
23:39But DeAndre Swift, while he's, quote, still feeling the effects of a Monday night football game, close quote, he is expected to practice today.
23:46And Ben Johnson is optimistic about DeAndre Swift. They'll need him in the game this weekend.
23:51So anyway. Love optimism. Yeah, a lot of optimism for DeAndre Swift.
23:54Not as much optimism for some of the people that we're going to talk about here, Stefania.
23:59Actually, come on. This first one could be a little bit of optimism.
24:03Nico Collins, because he returned to practice. He, of course, missed the last two games.
24:08Again, hamstring. What's the latest on him? Well, limited in both those practices, D'Amico Ryan said he's hopeful that Nico Collins plays.
24:14Look, I think this goes back to what we were talking about earlier when we were referencing Devontae Smith, that when teams
24:20have a concern early in the season, they're going to protect the player.
24:24So I thought it was interesting. They didn't waste any time in making sure that he was shut down for a couple weeks, but not on IR, right?
24:32So I think he falls in that low-grade hamstring injury recovery phase where you're hitting about the right time in that two to four weeks.
24:39So I always say for these players who are coming back from hamstring injury, you can never feel, like, really comfortable until they get through the game.
24:47And then afterwards, if they get through it and they're not anymore sore, you can say, okay, then I feel confident about him going forward.
24:55Yeah, I mean, listen, obviously, assuming Nico Collins is playing, you're obviously starting him.
24:59If Nico Collins is out once again, I still don't want any Texans wide receiver.
25:03I get it. It's a great matchup. The Cowboys' defense is brutal, but none of these guys have established themselves.
25:09I would be more optimistic about Dalton Schultz. Weirdly, Schultz has been better in terms of earning more targets.
25:14I know a bad game last week. Two weeks ago, Schultz was really good.
25:18But against the Cowboys, I do think Schultz would be a viable low-end tight end one if Nico is out.
25:24All right. Actually, honestly, even if Nico's active, because weirdly, he's been more effective on a per-route basis with Nico there.
25:30Believe it or not. Schultz. I believe you. Thank you.
25:33I 100% believe you. I need Nico back, let's be honest.
25:36We all do. It feels like it's been forever.
25:39I'm not going to lie to you. One of the few people I don't have on my team that's been unavailable.
25:45Zay Flowers, limited in week three, but he did return to full practice.
25:49Yes, and I think this was a good test for him, Brazil.
25:52I actually thought he might not play. Right. You know, because after having this hamstring that, in his case, again, look at how these patterns are so similar.
26:01Bothered him during camp and then aggravated during week one.
26:03Same side, problematic. Then he didn't play week two, returned in week three, but only on the field for 33% of the offensive snaps.
26:10To me, it's a volume thing, right? You don't tell a player when they go out, okay, you're just going to run at like 70%.
26:18Because you can't do that with an athlete. I mean, people wonder sometimes if guys are going to be decoys.
26:23Do you just say they're going to be controlled in how they run?
26:27You can't do that because that risks further injury.
26:30Wide receiver's going to sprint. But what you can do is control the volume.
26:34So I thought this was smart. They only have him on the field for a portion of the offensive snaps.
26:40He obviously came back okay. He's back to full practice.
26:43I would expect an increased utilization of Zay Flowers this week.
26:46Yeah, look, I'm as a top 12 play this week, assuming his normal role.
26:50I mean, so on the season, he's been targeted on 48% of his routes, right?
26:54That is crazy, Beads. He's played 37 offensive snaps this year.
26:57Zay Flowers has played 37 snaps this year. He's scored 41 fantasy points.
27:01I mean, Zay Flowers is like, yeah, I am.
27:04Like, dude, you know, and so right. I mean, like he wasn't out there a ton last week, Stefania, to your point.
27:10But when he was out there, they were targeting him.
27:13He wasn't just running wind sprints. No, he's not out there for fun.
27:17Mike Evans. I hate this injury. A rib injury, of course, keeping him out all week long from practice.
27:22Does he have any chance to suit up Sunday?
27:25It's Mike Evans, so there's always a chance. I mean, the guy is tough as nails.
27:30I mean, what a – He really is. It's really unbelievable.
27:33If you think about how many years he had consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, tied only with Jerry Rice.
27:38Yep. It says something about how durable he's been over his career.
27:41But, you know, it's been a long career. So now he's out there.
27:45He's older. Us older guys. Right. So I might worry more if it was like an acute hamstring injury.
27:51But if you notice, he's been on the injury report every week with a little something-something, not practicing as much, but then
27:57he's out there and he does exactly what they need him to do.
28:01Certain plays, threaten the red zone. But this week it was different.
28:04Did you guys see him after this injury that took him out of the game?
28:09He was like struggling to breathe. And all the things that are going through my head, you know, your lungs are right under your rib.
28:16What can happen sometimes? You break a rib. You can puncture a lung.
28:20I was wondering if that was what happened. I actually had a couple physicians texting me during the game going, did he just get a pneumothorax?
28:27You know, because that's what – That's what Vito and I were texting too.
28:31That's so funny. It's so funny. I had so many people say the same thing.
28:36But here's the thing. I'm guessing in that. The good news is that all the imaging seemed to come back favorable and
28:42they're still giving him a shot to play. I wouldn't be surprised if Mike Evans does not play this week because this
28:48injury is so hard to completely protect you from.
28:51It's not just about wearing the flak jacket over it.
28:54It's the twisting and turning and moving underneath. So it might come down to game time, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's not out there.
29:02Yeah, and by the way, I mean, it's a 4 o'clock game, right?
29:05It's a game against the Broncos. It's a 425 game.
29:08So have a pivot if you want to roll with him.
29:11But it feels like, again, he's so important in their future.
29:15They've been getting so banged up. I just don't know, as we sort of talked about, like long term, do you want
29:21to like – like we talked about with Devontae Smith.
29:24Are you better off with Mike Evans saying, you know what, hey, let's take a week.
29:29We're 3-0, you know. And obviously they're going to try to win against the Broncos.
29:33But if they lose, whatever. They're still 3-1. Broncos win the AFC.
29:36We're not going to lose. They did sign Brandon Cooks from the practice squad.
29:40I saw that. So if you're like looking desperately for a fly, I know you're making a face like you're not interested.
29:47I think it's going to be a big George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey.
29:50Like those are the guys that I would trust the most on the Niners.
29:54Of course. I trust the most. I'm talking desperation play.
29:57Desperation. You waited until the last minute. Maybe. But maybe there's a pivot, right?
30:01Yeah. Look at you two. I kind of just want to watch you two argue, actually.
30:06If we could do more Niner stuff, that would be great.
30:09This is what Beatle does. She mixes it. Beatle loves to just sort of like throw a little bomb and then scoot away.
30:16Right. You are big on that. I do love doing that, actually.
30:19All right. Well, when it rains, it pours. I almost feel bad.
30:23Bring it up. Lad McConkie at this point. This one sucks.
30:26I know. This one does suck. Foot injury. They all do.
30:29Missed practice Thursday. I mean, yeah. It's just the whole situation in L.A.
30:33right now. It's a midweek pop-up injury, Stephon. Oh, you're saying.
30:36Oh, yeah. We're talking Chargers specifically. Chargers. What are we going to do?
30:40I don't think it's as. Oh, Chargers. Doesn't have the same.
30:43Yeah. It's not. It's depressing. It's sort of like.
30:46Listen. Your heart's not in it anymore. No, it really is.
30:49Lad McConkie's so much talent, but seems to be banged up all the time.
30:53All the time. Right? All the time. Now it's a foot issue that we didn't know about.
30:58So generic. Limited on Wednesday. Didn't practice at all on Thursday.
31:01ESPN reporter Chris Rimm said he was limping as reporters were entering the locker room.
31:06He was leaving with a limp. That's not good on Thursday.
31:09It makes me concerned. Like, just looking. You look at the Chargers.
31:12You look at him being less than 100%. How comfortable are you really starting Lad McConkie anyway, even if he does play,
31:19knowing that he might be playing compromised? I'm certainly not starting him.
31:22I don't know. Matthew's. No, no, no. I'm checking the regulars in the Discord here.
31:27I don't really love any of these guys here.
31:29I mean, listen, for this, right? If McConkie's out, I'm not going to have any Charger inside my top 30.
31:35I suppose Trey Harris, who went six for 76 last week, he's available in about 75% of leagues.
31:40If you want a desperation play. But again, no Chargers wide receiver.
31:44I just don't have any confidence in this passing attack right now.
31:47And so, you know, to me, the only Charger that I would feel good about starting, and good is relative, would be Omari and Hampton.
31:54And I don't feel great about it. Like, Hampton would be a touchdown dependent flex.
31:59But otherwise, I'm just sort of like, this is not a game that I love.
32:03They're in Seattle as well. It's in no man's land right now.
32:07Right. Yeah. I mean, it's just, you know, just, I'm sorry.
32:10No, the game is in L.A. Sorry. But still, they're playing.
32:13Does it matter? Yeah. Exactly. It really doesn't. Yeah, they're playing the Seahawks.
32:17Anyway. Yeah. Speaking of the Seahawks. I was going to say, quick update on the Zach Charbonnet cleared for practice.
32:23Listen. How soon before? Well, they have to add him to the active roster by October 22nd.
32:28That's what you need to know about this. So he comes, you know, he's on the pup list.
32:33They bring him in for practice. But now that they've opened that 21-day window, he has to be added to the active roster by October 22nd.
32:40It doesn't mean that he has to play in a game by then.
32:44But again, you're using a roster spot. If you're committing that, you must think that he is approaching playing time.
32:50This would be a surprise. Listen. Nine to 12 months is what we look at typically post ACL.
32:55Yep. Nine months for him is November 20th. So we're talking about eight months post.
33:00It's not unheard of, but it definitely comes with more risk, especially if you're not, you know, he looks great.
33:05They've been talking about it. Mike McDonald's been thrilled with him all along through the rehab work.
33:10But there's a reason why they usually don't come back until after nine months.
33:14So temper the expectation. But he's available in a decent amount of leagues.
33:18I would grab him and stash him because, by the way, so far this running game for the Seahawks hasn't really gotten going.
33:25It's been a committee. Jadarian Price, just for whatever reason, they don't trust him.
33:29And he's injured now too. Right. So Charbonnet, I think he's an interesting grab and stash if he's still out.
33:35Out there in your league. By the way, I was right.
33:38Game is in Seattle. I never doubted you. Thank you.
33:41I don't know what you're saying. Half the time, you're just in your own little world, Matthew.
33:46It's very important to be right. That's it for injury updates.
33:49Dwayne McFarlane from Fantasy Life is just going to join us after the break.
33:53Some trade advice ahead of week four. You know those nights when it's almost dinner time, everyone's hungry, and you open up
33:59the fridge only to realize you have absolutely no plan?

36:04I like this next segment because I think it's going to convince me.
36:08One of your great analysts from Fantasy Life joining us, Dwayne McFarland, to help us figure out the buys and lows, sell high, head a week for.
36:16Dwayne, what's up? What is up? I'm so glad to be here with you guys.
36:20I was listening to the last segment. I also have a need for Nico.
36:24So we are all rooting for Nico to be back this weekend against the Cowboys.
36:29Stefania, you made me a little sad, but I think you're being so reminded about it that it's tough to trust these guys when they're coming back.
36:37But man, it's the Cowboys. It's just like, if he's playing, I'm probably going to have him in there.
36:42Yeah, no question about it. By the way, in addition to being a sad Cowboys fan, Dwayne McFarland is also a legendary analyst for us at Fantasy Life.
36:50He's our director of data analytics. He's one of them smarties and does a great job for him.
36:55His utilization report, I believe, is the most helpful article in fantasy football every single week, and that includes the ones I write.
37:02I will tell you this so much. And he's the inventor of the utilization score that we quote so often here on the show, Dwayne.
37:09So it's awesome to have you. Thanks for doing this, my friend.
37:13Yeah, thanks for having me. This is the favorite time of year, right?
37:17We've had the unveil. We've got three weeks of data now.
37:20We actually have a little bit that we can work with.
37:23And it's like, what are we doing with our priors?
37:26Like, are we adjusting hard away from them, or are we still anchoring to what we thought about these players in the preseason?
37:33And that's what brings you to a lot of these decisions around, do I move off of a player, right?
37:38Or is there a player I'm wanting to go target in a trade?
37:42All those sort of things. So yeah, this is one of my favorite parts.
37:46I also, I think I heard Michelle, you know, in the last segment saying that, you know, she doesn't trade often.
37:52What's funny is I write all this advice and we get so busy, Matthew, you know how it goes.
37:58Like, I probably don't, I don't trade as much as I used to before I started doing this job full time.
38:04Right. Dwayne, just so you know, the reason that you don't trade is that you're in a zillion different leagues and you're working so hard.
38:11The reason Michelle doesn't trade is she don't like to talk to other people.
38:15No, it's texting. I like to test. No, Dwayne, the reason I don't do it is A, my attention span is garbage.
38:22But more importantly, I trust my initial draft process that it'll get me to the end.
38:26I think you get attached. Yeah. There's an attachment sometimes the players we have.
38:30It's A. So let's. Let's do it. Yeah, go ahead.
38:33Chase Brown, we're going to start there. If you can, why should you be targeting him?
38:38Yeah. Well, number one, I mean, Chase Brown is in a massive role and an offense that we really like.
38:44I mean, a 71% snap share on the season, 78% of the rushing attempts for the Bengals.
38:49Those rank seventh and fourth in the NFL. And the Bengals are really just still ironing out some things in their offense.
38:55This preseason, they talked a lot about trying to implement more under center, more play action, a lot of things.
39:01So I think we're ultimately just going to see this offense getting back to being what we expect it to be.
39:07And I think it could be this weekend, right?
39:10We could get a real shootout here with the Jaguars.
39:13So if you look at Chase Brown, gave you 18.8 PPR points in week one, then he gave you 11.2 and 8.9.
39:19And ultimately, you know, we could have a psychologist on the show.
39:22Some of the discussions that we've already had about anchoring to priors versus moving on.
39:27But what I can tell you about your league mates, as much as they may think they like Chase Brown, some of
39:33those managers will now be worried and they won't be reading things like the utilization report or other things that are out
39:40there in the industry to let them know the role is still an A plus role.
39:44And all they're going to see are those fantasy points from the last two weeks.
39:49And so you just always want to check in on players like this.
39:52And then if you think about it, like zooming out, like he's going to have some smash games coming up.
39:58We get the Dolphins in week five. We get the Titans in week eight.
40:02They do have a bye week in week six.
40:05But I just think right now is still your time for Chase Brown.
40:09He's just been a bit unlucky these last two games with the fantasy points.
40:13But the role is still one of the absolute best in the NFL.
40:16He's running back 19 on a points per game basis.
40:19And I think you agree with me, Dwayne, that he is an RB1 in fantasy.
40:24So if you can get him for RB2 prices, like no one's just going to give him up.
40:29But the point is, is that if you can, if you basically say like, look, he's running back 19 in PPR, like
40:35I'll give you basically value for an RB2. The truth is we think this role and the talent for the Brown Gobbler, that's my nickname for him.
40:43The Brown Gobbler is because he gobbles up fantasy points to find him.
40:47His last name is Brown. I need an explanation.
40:50No, anyway, Chase Brown, the Brown Gobbler. He is an RB1 in fantasy football, by the way, very quietly a 15% target
40:56share at least in two of the three games, Michelle Beatle.
40:59Hey, Matthew, just real quick, some trades that happened today for Chase Brown.
41:03I'm looking at fantasycalc.com. Yep. Chase Brown for Kyron Williams.
41:06I would take Chase Brown, you know, in that deal.
41:09Another one, Chase Brown and someone threw in DK Metcalf with it to get for Kyron Williams.
41:14I would probably do that deal as well. Again, like we just don't have very many guys.
41:19We like Kyron, but he has to share the backfield quite often, you know, with Blake Corum.
41:24And we love the Rams offense, but we also like the Bengals offense.
41:27So people are moving Chase Brown a ton. There's been a lot of trades of Chase Brown in the last few days.
41:34Okay. I like it. I agree. Image being painted.
41:36Receiver, who's a player to make some low offers on?
41:39Well, you know, Matthew had to go out of his way to say I'm a sad Cowboys fan.
41:45But you know what? You know who's going to be sad this weekend?
41:48Are the commanders watching Josh Downs just run up and down the field all over them.
41:53That's factually correct. When you look at Josh Downs, like I just absolutely want to buy right now, immediately.
41:58And the big thing with Josh Downs is we've always known that he's a good player.
42:03You guys probably all agree. It's just been, well, wow.
42:06Like we don't get the player on the field all the time.
42:10Like he had to play really the slot role.
42:12They kind of protect him a little bit. But this year he's got an 88% route participation rate.
42:17That is really good. That's up there in wide receiver one territory.
42:21So getting to play all the time. And he's still earning all those targets.
42:25And in these last two games with having Alec Pierce out of the lineup, so interested in hearing Stefania's thoughts on when
42:31we think we'll see Alec Pierce back because it is part of the equation.
42:35Things will be a little more crowded. But if you look at his utilization score that we talked about, Matthew, which is
42:42really looking at what things are the most predictive to next week's fantasy points, the next four weeks, and then for the rest of the season.
42:49That's what the utilization score is built around. It's an 81 over the last two games.
42:54Historical comparisons over the last five years have averaged 16.4 fantasy points per game.
42:58He's averaging 10.9 right now. And so Josh Downs is really in a great spot.
43:02They put him in motion. They use him on play action.
43:06Shane Steichen, low key, one of the best coordinators in the league.
43:09You know, I was talking yesterday with Scott Turner, you know, who was the offensive coordinator for the commanders back in the day.
43:16Matthew had him over on the fantasy football's live show.
43:19And I was talking to him about Steichen. And he's like, Steichen's one of my best friends.
43:24And he started talking about his schemes. And he also loves Josh Downs.
43:27And that's one of the players that he drafted this offseason.
43:31So that's coming from an NFL coach that we really do love the role here.
43:35And then the matchup. Oh, my goodness. It's fantastic.
43:38Like, if you look at the boost to opposing wide receivers by the commanders, 6.7 fantasy points per game to opposing wide receiver rooms.
43:45You guys can find that over in the fantasylife.com DVP tool.
43:48Basically, it's an adjusted, you know, what the defense is allowing based on the opponents that they face.
43:53So if they played really bad receivers, the model knows that.
43:56But if they've played against really good receivers, the model knows that.
44:00But the point being, the commanders are the worst secondary in the league.
44:03Even worse than the Cowboys. Yeah, you don't have to be so happy about that, Dwayne.
44:08But to your point, you see it there on your screen.
44:11His utilization rank is wide receiver 19. But so far, the production has just made him wide receiver 33 on a points per game basis.
44:19The usage is there. The production will follow. Stefania, very quickly.
44:22How about Alec Pierce? Dwayne was curious. I think there's reason to be concerned about Alec Pierce because this is something that
44:28was supposed to be taken care of in the offseason.
44:31It was problematic. He didn't really look like he was ready to go to start the season anyway.
44:36Now on injured reserve, I think this could be an extended highlight reel for Josh Downs over at least the foreseeable future.
44:43All the more reason to buy low on Josh Downs because the role should be there for quite some time.
44:48All right, Dwayne. We're looking to trade someone away running back first.
44:52Who are you looking for? Yeah. Bejal Tootin. And I feel like I'm on an island.
44:57I will say Bejal Tootin is a guy I wrote a lot about this offseason and like what the theoretical ceiling was
45:03versus the floor and where you were having to take him in drafts.
45:07And so there's a part of Bejal Tootin I really love.
45:10But what I'm looking at with this one particularly is just the frothiness of the market.
45:15So many fantasy analysts are out there claiming Bejal Tootin is going to win your league.
45:19And he might. But the point is, we really don't know.
45:22And so anytime the market gets so far ahead of itself on a player like this, I saw a trade this morning
45:29in the trade calculator where Bejal Tootin went straight up for Chase Brown, the guy we've already talked about.
45:34So when people are bought in on an analyst that they're reading from, you know, and maybe one of you guys are really touting Bejal Tootin.
45:42Maybe, you know, it's you, Michelle. I don't know who's doing it.
45:45But people are in love with Bejal Tootin. And don't get me wrong.
45:49He's a good player. Like, he has been massively efficient this year.
45:53You know, he ranks second in average yards after contact.
45:56Fifth in explosive rush rate. 13.9% of his carries go for 10-plus yards.
45:59He's second in missed tackle force rate. An undoubtedly talented player.
46:03But we have a four-way split going on right now.
46:05Like, Chris Rodriguez, we knew would probably get short yardage work, which he is.
46:10But LaQuint Allen is playing on passing downs. And now, like every fifth drive, they just give Amir Abdullah a drive.
46:16And so Liam Cohen did this last year. So, again, I'm not telling you guys to go give away Bejal Tootin.
46:22I'm not just doing that in my leagues. I'm fine having him as a low-end running back two right now.
46:28And maybe he does carve out more of the workload.
46:30But if someone in your league is willing to already bet on Bejal Tootin as being someone that's a high-end running back
46:37two or someone they already think is a running back one, then I am selling now.
46:41I want to capture the value now. It's all about playing the market and what the market thinks about a player in
46:48this current moment more so than just what we might think could happen.
46:52Yeah, especially because, by the way, this Jaguars offense, they want to throw.
46:55They are going to be a pass-first offense. Trevor Lawrence is playing great.
46:59They're getting great production from Washington and Jacoby Myers.
47:02Hopefully BTJ gets going as well. But I think the important part is every single game this season, Bejal Tootin below a 50% snap rate.
47:09He's not involved in the passing game, just a 33% route participation, 7% target share.
47:13So, again, on a pass-first offense, he's not involved in the passing attack.
47:17And not that we think Chris Rodriguez or Amir Abdullah or LaKean Allen, shout out Syracuse, not that we think any of
47:24those guys are going to take this job over.
47:26But they all just peck away enough that it is not the high RB2 role that so many people out there are saying.
47:33So I agree with you. Like, I think I would probably rank him in the 18 to 22 range going forward.
47:39So if you can sell him for more than that, yes, I mean, like, I would – if I had Bejal Tootin
47:45and I didn't have Chase Brown, I would immediately try to make that trade.
47:49That's unbelievable. But Bejal Tootin, I agree with you.
47:52I think just the hype on it is a little bit beyond where the production will be given where this offense is.
47:58Good for him. Yeah. It's better to be overhyped than no steal the ring.
48:03No. You're right. You're right. Because you've been both.
48:05You've been overhyped and underhyped. Both sides of that.
48:08Okay. So it looks like we're nearing a return, hopefully, possibly, for Puka Nakua.
48:12So that being said, sell high on Devante Adams?
48:14Yeah. And this was the trickiest one. I did not write this one up in the utilization report this week just because,
48:21quite frankly, I didn't have the guts. But I thought it would be a fun one to talk about with you guys
48:27because we know Puka is so good. And the way you end up being wrong, and this is where I think, you
48:34know, Stefania, you're the key to this conversation. That's a lot of pressure.
48:37Because I think it depends on how you really feel about, like, the severity of Puka's injury and the likelihood of a re-injury.
48:44Because if you trade away Devante Adams and Puka gets hurt again, you're going to hate your trade.
48:49That's great. But if we think Puka gets back to full strength here in the next three to four games, it would
48:56theoretically be a really good time to sell high on Devante Adams.
48:59And this is where I really wish I had a lamp, you know, and I could make a wish and know once Puka's back, he's fine.
49:07But this is what I talked about earlier is that this injury has been a bit like chasing symptoms, which is never
49:13a good feeling when you're trying to take care of something.
49:16And I do worry that it could be something that gives him trouble throughout the remainder of the season.
49:22And then you might find yourself regretting that you had made that trade, gotten rid of Devante Adams, who I think he's
49:28still got value on your roster, even if Puka comes back.
49:31I mean, I know that touchdown production last year was obscene and that you may not be able to reproduce that.
49:38But I don't know. He looked awfully good last week.
49:40He looked a lot younger than 33 years old.
49:43He was blown by Pat Sertan. He was blown by Pat Sertan.
49:47It's a weird one, Dwayne, because I totally understand it.
49:49In a world in which Puka Nakua comes back, Devante Adams' value will never be higher.
49:54But in a world where Puka Nakua gets – and so Stefania is real concerned about re-injury when she talked about the seriousness of this injury.
50:02Like there's an argument to be made that Devante Adams, after this week, assuming Puka Nakua comes back this week and if
50:08Puka plays well, and maybe, you know, Adams says it, Adams may actually be a buy low.
50:13I know that sounds insane. I mean, like I can make both arguments, both sides of this argument.
50:18I'm with you. Because, again, if Puka – like people are going to be like, oh, well, Puka's back and so Adams
50:25is like, you know, going to go back to his wide receiver two role.
50:29You're like, no, no, no. Like you're doing that but you're banking on a – you're banking on a re-injury of Puka Nakua.
50:35Very quickly, Dwayne, because I know you write the utilization report.
50:39We didn't really talk about this. But I'm just curious what you've seen from Kanata Mumfield in his – when Devante –
50:45I'm sorry, when Puka Nakua has been out. Yeah, like he definitely has some upside.
50:49You know, it does – last week we didn't have Jordan Whittington though.
50:53So we don't know for sure what the role is.
50:56So it's still a little bit murky. And we know that really McVay wants to lean into this tight and heavy stuff.
51:02The other big thing that helped Mumfield last week is the fact that we lost Terrence Ferguson early in the game.
51:08And then Colby Parkinson, who was a DNP all last week, did not participate in practice.
51:13He was not him same self either. And so we also saw Tyler Higby blow up.
51:18And so it was just really I think a matter of the receiving room was so condensed that we got more from Mumfield.
51:24Now having said that, if these players are continuing to deal with injuries, then Mumfield could really have some short-term value.
51:31And if Puka Nakua does continue to battle injuries in deeper leagues, I do think he's a player to stash.
51:36You're not going to have him near your fantasy lineup like unless you're playing like, you know, in a 16-teamer and everybody's rostering 20 players or whatever.
51:44Then you might consider like a Mumfield this weekend.
51:47But I think it's just part of what's going on right now.
51:50Like we saw Kyron Williams get the biggest target share of the season.
51:54And essentially the Rams were just down everyone last weekend.
51:57So here's one I'll give you. Puka Nakua. No, sorry, not Puka Nakua.
52:01Devontae Adams, guys. Here's a trade that happened today straight up for Parker Washington.
52:05Give me some Parker Washington. I like Parker Washington.
52:07That's what I'm saying. And so for you folks listening, that's what you want.
52:12There's a lot of trades on here I wouldn't do.
52:14Devontae Adams for Tee Higgins. I think they have a similar rest-of-season outlook to Stefania's point even when Puka's back.
52:20Right? They're both the number two and really good offenses we like.
52:24And I know that Puka could miss time. Jamar Chase is healthy right now.
52:28I would probably rather have Devontae Adams. But if you're going to give me Parker Washington, that sort of name, that's what
52:34selling high looks like in my opinion on a player like Adams.
52:38I think I get it. It's scary. Yeah. Right?
52:40No, I kind of get it now. Yeah. Dwayne, thank you so much.
52:44Something to think about. Lots to think about. He's the best.
52:47I appreciate it. Follow him on social media at Dwayne McFarlane and check out all of his work at FantasyLife.com.
52:53Dwayne, as always, you're the best, brother. Thank you, man.
52:56I appreciate you guys. Have a good day. You too.

53:39Every assistant is vetted from the top 1% of applicants, secured with an SOC 2-level protection, and powered by AI tools to continuously adapt to how you operate.
53:47Athena clients regain over 15 hours a week on average.
53:50And one small business owner even added $200,000 in revenue after offloading their operational busy work.
53:54Go to Athena.com slash Matthew Barry right now and get matched with your EA.
53:58That's Athena.com slash Matthew Barry. Give yourself back a few hours this week.
54:02Go to Athena.com slash Matthew Barry and see who they pair you with this month.
54:07You know, most of us picked a bank when we were 16, stayed out of habit, and just accepted all those hidden monthly costs.
54:14So let's be honest. Everyone hates bank fees. Am I right?
54:17Of course I'm right. Well, that's where Chime comes in.
54:20Because they are completely changing the way people manage their money.
54:23Unlike traditional banks that love to pile on hidden charges unless you keep a massive balance, Chime offers fee-free banking with no
54:29overdraft fees, no monthly maintenance fees, and no minimum balance requirements.
54:32You actually get rewarded for everyday spending, earning 5% cash back in a category of your choice, like gas or groceries, all
54:39while building your credit without a credit check. Oh, and SpotMe has your back with up to $200 in fee-free overdraft protection when life gets expensive.
54:46Join the millions who are already banking fee-free with America's number one choice for banking.
54:51Head to Chime.com slash FFHH. That is Chime.com slash FFHH.
54:54Sign up now. It only takes a few minutes.
54:56Chime is a fintech, not a bank. Banking services and Chime card provided by Chime's bank partners.
55:01Qualifying direct deposits required. Terms and limits apply. Go to Chime.com slash Disclosures for details.
55:06I don't know what your best bet for the week is.
55:09Okay. Would you like to hear it? Yeah, I'm actually kind of curious.
55:13Well, thank you for watching the show, Beatle. I mean, you've been here for two hours.
55:17Like, how are you? I've told about it for the last one.
55:21I'm going to tell you. I'm going to tell you right now.
55:24But I would think if you'd watched the show and if you'd watched the show yesterday and if you'd attended the pre-show meeting, you would know.
55:32Eagles plus three and a half. Eagles plus three and a half.
55:35I thought you were going to do something creative and change it up.
55:39Never mind. I just think that it's this weird betting rule.
55:42But, like, again, when a winning team is getting points from a team with a losing record, you bet the winning team, it works out.
55:49It doesn't matter how gross it looks. It works out about two-thirds of the time.
55:54And so, again, the Eagles getting three and a half points at home for a West Coast team traveling east that's banged up again.
56:01I know they expect Puka to play, but we're not going to see Miles Garrett here.
56:05We don't know about their tight ends. Like, I get it.
56:09The Eagles are also beat up here. But give me the Eagles plus three and a half.
56:14I don't know if they win, but they definitely cover.
56:16Let's test your theory. Have you been listening to me all week?
56:20No. Okay. So then you don't know what my bet is?
56:23Well, my bet, I believe your bet will be the Raiders' money line.
56:27See? And that proves my point that it doesn't work that way.
56:30It would have been if I wasn't creative and trying hard.
56:34But I went for something totally different than the bet that I made earlier in the week.
56:39I put you ask. You asked me if I've been.
56:41Oh, my God. It's like I'm married twice. That's the kind of argument I have with my wife at home.
56:47And then it's. God damn it. Give me Josh.
56:50I love it. I love it. I love it.
56:53We haven't talked about Josh Allen at all this week.
56:55Keep him on their toes. I think the voice coming out of it.
56:59Proud Fantasy Life Investor Josh Allen. There you go.
57:02I feel good about that. I'm sure you do.
57:04Listen, that's going to do it for Happy Hour, by the way.
57:08It's closing time, which means you don't have to go home.
57:11But you can't stay here. However. Yes? First week in the books.
57:15First week in the books. They didn't cancel us.
57:17No. Well, we don't know that. I haven't even checked my email.
57:21I haven't checked my email. That's a good point.
57:23Would it be email cancellation or would they call us?
57:26That's a great question. That is a good question.
57:29I think. Yeah, I wonder. I think they would.
57:31I'd like to think I'll post you at the end of the week.
57:35They would call. What they would do is they would call Ed.
57:39That's true. But then with us, they would text me and you because they'd be like, Beetle rarely checks or texts.
57:45That's a great point. It'd just be like, that gives them a week head start or a day head start.
57:51By the way, the regulars are on fire. Oh.
57:53In the Discord, by the way. Everyone join the Fantasy Football Happy Hour Discord.
57:57Stuntman Chuck says, this producer is making me miss Moe and his denim.
58:01Just by the way. Ed, too much screen time for you.
58:04Just so you know. I say more. SEC Man asked everyone, so what is everyone going to be for Halloween?
58:10And then Ward, the WP, says I'm going as producer Ed.
58:13Producer Ed. It's going to be the hottest Halloween costume out there.
58:17Yeah. SEC Man says I'm going to go as a beaver.
58:20And Beto says, ask to find if she's intentionally trying to teach us a new word each week.
58:25Yeah. That is. That is. But I appreciate the fans paying attention.
58:29Yeah. What was the word again? Solo? So-ess. So-ess.
58:31So-ess. See, I listen to you. Solo. That's your cup.
58:34I listen to you, Stefania. Remember that. I know.
58:37We know who listens. That is my cup. And the word I learned this week, I just remembered it, was Discord.
58:43I learned what Discord was. It's true. So that actually was something that happened.
58:47A fantasy football happy hour last call will be on the Matthew Berry YouTube page at noon Eastern on Sunday where we
58:53answer all your questions, get you ready for kickoff.
58:56He has so many things going on. That's why it's called Last Call, right?
59:00That's right. Right before the kickoff. Stefania got it.
59:03I know. I did not get it. Stefania, I'm so glad you're here.
59:06Please come back every week forever and ever. I love this.
59:10Yes. Next Friday's the fight. We'll be back here.
59:12We love it. We love it.
