Baker Mayfield

PositiveMatchup22:22

Baker Mayfield has historically struggled against man coverage, but faces the Dolphins' Brian Flores defense which runs very little man and predominantly zone. This creates downfield opportunities for Mayfield and the Buccaneers offense, making this a favorable matchup after Tampa Bay's Week 1 struggles.

Insight page

Bijan Robinson

NegativeUsage6:30

Bijan Robinson was the primary checkdown target for Cooper Rush in Week 2, receiving short-yardage passes in the flat as part of the Falcons' limited offensive attack.

Insight page
NegativeUsage6:45

Under Cooper Rush, Bijan Robinson was the primary outlet, receiving most of the quarterback's short, flat throws as the offense struggled to execute downfield concepts. This usage pattern reflects the limitations of the passing game rather than Robinson's role design.

Insight page
PositiveRole13:14

Bijan Robinson and the Falcons skill position group are viewed as capable of moving the ball and keeping the game close against Green Bay despite Atlanta's offensive struggles through two weeks; the speaker expects Robinson to be part of the Falcons' offensive attack in Week 3.

Insight page

Bryce Young

NegativeMatchup70:53

Young and the Panthers face the Browns defense at home, which presents a much tougher test than the Panthers' previous opponents; Cleveland has historically strong home under performance (108-76-3 record, 59% win rate, 14% ROI since 2003) and the Panthers' average starting field position of the 43.5-yard line has been inflated by turnovers and weak defenses faced so far.

Insight page
NegativeMatchup75:45

Bryce Young is historically much worse on the road; against man coverage this season he has a 40% completion rate and 4.4 yards per attempt (only seen 20% of snaps), compared to 11.5 yards per attempt versus zone; the Browns played man 60% of snaps last week and are expected to play significant man coverage, which is particularly detrimental to Young's performance.

Insight page

Cam Ward

PositiveProjection40:00

Cam Ward is averaging only a 5-yard average depth of target and is not taking chances or throwing into tight windows. He is the complete opposite of Jameis Winston in terms of aggression, and Geico. They're believes he needs a mix of both approaches to be effective. Ward's conservative approach limits the Titans' offensive upside.

Insight page

Cooper Rush

PositiveProjection6:30

Cooper Rush's Week 2 performance was historically poor: interception every nine throws, 4-yard average target depth, essentially limited to throwing interceptions or checkdowns to Bijan Robinson in the flat. This establishes the baseline from which Penix's performance will be measured.

Insight page
PositiveProjection6:45

Cooper Rush's performance was historically poor: basically an interception every nine throws, worst quarterback play with average target depth of four yards, essentially limited to throwing to Bijan Robinson in the flat or turning the ball over. His replacement will look significantly better than this baseline.

Insight page

D.J. Moore

NegativeInjury58:32

DJ Moore is probable and expected to play in the Chargers-Bills matchup, indicating he will be available despite earlier injury concerns.

Insight page

Darren Waller

PositiveRole76:57

The Chargers offense has improved significantly with a better offensive line and coaching; they have been operating without Bowers (tight end), yet the offense is described as 'definitely a way better offense,' suggesting improved efficiency and play-calling despite missing a key pass-catcher.

Insight page

Davante Adams

NegativeMatchup78:20

Adams' availability alongside Puka Nacua is critical to the Rams' offensive attack against Denver; if both are healthy, the Rams can attack Denver's secondary vertically, but if either is out, the Rams must pivot to running and tight end usage, fundamentally changing the game plan.

Insight page

Derrick Henry

PositiveRole34:00

Derrick Henry is being used as a dominant force in the Ravens' run-heavy offense, described as having 'Scadaboo on steroids' capabilities. The Ravens can deploy heavy packages with Henry and Lamar Jackson to attack the Cowboys' weak linebacker group, which lacks the personnel to stop this ground-oriented attack.

Insight page

Deshaun Watson

PositiveProjection69:52

Watson's average depth of target remains shallow; he had one deep shot versus zone coverage and will face significant man coverage from the Browns at home, resulting in continued dink-and-dunk passing patterns rather than explosive downfield throws.

Insight page
NegativeProjection75:27

Watson had his best game in years last week; however, the speaker notes this is a fade spot for the week after, suggesting regression risk; Watson's average depth of target was limited with only one deep shot in the recent game.

Insight page

Drake Maye

NegativeProjection28:00

Drake May has posted negative EPA on dropbacks in six straight games dating back to the playoffs and continues to struggle against cover six. Despite facing the Jaguars, who are one of the heavier cover six teams under Campanelli, May has shown no solutions to this defensive scheme after the entire offseason to prepare. His hesitation and interception concerns are compounding his struggles against real competition.

Insight page

Drew Lock

PositiveBreakout61:49

Drew Locke has been great this year and leads the league in a key statistical category; a sharp pro bettor compared him favorably to Darnold's rejuvenation arc, suggesting Locke is benefiting from right coaching and getting a second chance after being written off, with performance nearly equivalent to Darnold despite the latter's recent success.

Insight page

Geno Smith

NegativeProjection63:12

Geno Smith is not a favorite of Geico. They're, but he was expected to be fine in the opener given the Raiders' poor offensive line last year; Geico. They're believes the Jets offense can do some things despite weather issues in their recent game.

Insight page

Ja'Marr Chase

PositiveProjection68:11

Jamar Chase is noted for his hard-to-argue-with hands, including a touchdown last week; while his route running is second to none, the comparison to JSN's elite route running suggests Chase is slightly behind in that specific skill.

Insight page

Jalen Hurts

NegativeMatchup60:19

Jalen Hurts and the Eagles are referenced in the context of the Commanders' recent loss to Philadelphia in a tight game where the Commanders covered the spread.

Insight page
NegativeMatchup60:19

Jalen Hurts and the Eagles are mentioned in the context of the Commanders' recent losses; the Commanders lost to Philadelphia in a tight game and covered, indicating competitive performance despite the loss.

Insight page

Jalin Hyatt

PositiveProjection67:34

JSN (Jalin Hyatt) is described as the best receiver in the NFL; he is averaging 5.5 yards per route run without lead receivers around him, and no one can cover him due to his elite route running.

Insight page

Jalon Daniels

NegativeInjury60:47

Jalen Daniels is out for the Commanders; his absence removes crucial escapability that would have been beneficial against Seattle's aggressive defense, and his legs are specifically noted as valuable for this matchup where the team lacks a traditional run game.

Insight page

Jameis Winston

NegativeProjection38:45

Jameis Winston is starting for the Giants after Jackson Dart's season-ending injury but Geico. They're believes he is 'shot' and doesn't fit the Giants' desired offensive identity of a physical rushing attack with tight end targets and play-action. While Winston has led the NFL in both touchdown passes and interceptions, he will take unnecessary risks and doesn't have the same arm strength he once possessed. There are also concerns about his focus and preparation given his recent media work.

Insight page

Jared Goff

PositiveProjection66:32

Goff led a fourth-and-18 conversion to the sideline against Buffalo while down 17, and the Lions covered the second half line with a backdoor touchdown to lose by 10, demonstrating offensive capability despite the loss; the speaker believes the Lions can move the ball and will try to outscore teams.

Insight page

Jayden Reed

NegativeInjury10:00

Jaden Reed is hurt, adding to Green Bay's injury woes heading into Week 3 on a short week after an overtime game.

Insight page

Kirk Cousins

PositiveProjection7:00

Kirk Cousins' replacement of Cooper Rush is expected to be a significant upgrade; modelers project approximately 2.8 points of improvement in fantasy scoring, not just compared to Rush's recent play but specifically compared to an injured Cooper Rush. The previous backup, Jack Strand, was also nothing special when he played.

Insight page
NegativeProjection76:44

Cousins threw two interceptions against the Dolphins despite playing better against the Raiders; the source notes these were bad throws, suggesting inconsistency in execution even against weaker defenses.

Insight page

Lamar Jackson

PositiveMatchup34:00

Lamar Jackson faces a Cowboys defense that has already shown communication issues against mobile quarterbacks. The Ravens' offense is built to exploit this with play-action and Lamar's mobility, and Geico. They're sees no way for Dallas to generate stops against this scheme.

Insight page

Marcus Mariota

NegativeRole60:47

Marcus Mariota will start for the Commanders with Daniel Jones out; while he is a similar style to Daniels and the playbook doesn't change much, his lack of escapability is a major liability against Seattle's aggressive defense, and he is described as screwed in this particular matchup.

Insight page

Marvin Harrison Jr.

NegativeBust57:37

Marvin Harrison Jr. is nearly being written off as a bust or needing a change of scenery; the speaker is almost ready to make this assessment and notes he is killing the Cardinals' offense with his play, standing out negatively among Ohio State receivers.

Insight page

Michael Penix Jr.

NegativeProjection5:25

Penix will start for the Falcons in Week 3 against the Packers, but significant uncertainty remains around his health, rust, and performance. The source notes that while Penix's output will likely improve over Cooper Rush's historically poor performance (interception every nine throws, 4-yard average target depth), there is still substantial uncertainty about what Penix will deliver in his first game action.

Insight page

Patrick Mahomes

NegativeProjection48:48

Mahomes is 0-4 ATS as a double-digit favorite on the road despite being 5-0 straight up in those spots; this trend suggests he wins games but fails to cover the spread in high-expectation scenarios.

Insight page

Puka Nacua

NegativeInjury77:24

Nacua's status is uncertain heading into the Rams-Broncos game; he did not practice but the team is hopeful he will play. His availability is critical to the Rams' offensive scheme—if he plays against Denver's secondary, the Rams can attack vertically; if he doesn't, they must rely on running and tight ends, fundamentally altering the game plan and betting implications.

Insight page

Quentin Johnston

NegativeRole57:14

Quinton Johnson is described as stinking in his role with the Chargers, contributing to offensive dysfunction; the speaker notes he is not executing at an acceptable level on the offensive line.

Insight page

Trevor Lawrence

PositiveMatchup26:00

Trevor Lawrence has faced Mike Vrabel's defense six times and maintained a 60-plus completion percentage in all six starts, with eight touchdowns and two interceptions over his last four starts against Vrabel. He was sacked only twice in those four games, indicating strong protection and efficiency in this matchup.

Insight page

Tyreek Hill

NegativeUsage51:31

Since Tyreek Hill left Miami, the Chiefs are 45-30 to the under as a favorite and 41-24 to the under overall; this indicates a significant shift in offensive pace and scoring patterns post-Hill departure.

Insight page

Zay Flowers

NegativeInjury31:00

Zay Flowers did not practice on the day of recording due to a hamstring injury but Ravens head coach John Harbaugh expressed hope that Flowers would play. His status is one to watch heading into the Ravens-Cowboys game in Brazil, with Friday being the key day for updates.

3:12Welcome to the Action Network Podcast presented by DraftKings.
3:15This is the week three NFL betting preview. I'm Stuckey.
3:18And joining me, as always, my friend Doug Kazarian.
3:21And of course, the faceless. The faceless. Stats out.
3:24Evan Abrams. We will get to every single game on the week three slate.
3:29All 16. We will build our six pack, which includes one of Evan's picks.
3:34And then three of my best bets, two of Doug's.
3:37And then we'll cover the rest. We'll build our money line parlay.
3:41And we'll talk favorite totals. We'll even mention some props that we like.
3:46Our favorite teaser. Things of that nature. You know the drill.
3:49Coming off of a 6-0 week. 6-0 perfect six pack week.
3:53Brought the six pack back. And the gambling gods rewarded us with a 6-0 week.
3:58It was the Vikings, Broncos, Seahawks, Titans, and Rams.
4:01And Evan had the Colts. And we almost hit our 8-1 Moneyline Underdog Parlay.
4:06You had the Raiders. And I had the Jets who should have won.
4:10They dominated the game and lose in overtime. Because Aaron Glenn doesn't know how to manage a clock.
4:17But we had a number of reviews that said, I'm out on Doug.
4:21If this Raiders pick doesn't hit. And they dominated the Chargers.
4:25Yeah, Raiders were certainly the right side. A lot of fumble luck went the Chargers way until the very last one.
4:32Finally bounced into the Raiders' hands. But the Chargers have historically been terrible as favorites.
4:37So it starts with that. But honestly, it's not like the Cardinals dominated them in week one.
4:43I mean, they were even in the game late.
4:46Except until that blocked punt. But so the Chargers just were, just nothing was special about them.
4:51Nothing was good. It wasn't a fluke win by Arizona.
4:55But it wasn't a dominating win. That's what made me interesting.
4:58And so these week two teams, like we talked about, the spot being so favorable.
5:04The buy low. Look at the Rams. You sniffed that one out.
5:08Obviously, the dart injury changed a lot of that.
5:11But still, the Jags was a great buy low spot.
5:14Sorry, the Broncos against the Jags. So the Chargers had the makings of it.
5:19But they're in trouble. And I just, everything I saw in week one continued in week two against a better team than the Cardinals and the Raiders.
5:28They're in deep trouble. We'll get to the Chargers.
5:31But before we get into Thursday night football, first a word about the king of sports books and our sponsor, DraftKings.
5:38Football season is here. We've teamed up with DraftKings to bring you a brand new offer.

6:04That's code ACTIONNETWORK. Download the DraftKings sports app and keep football at your fingertips all season long.
6:10DraftKings, the crown is yours. Okay, let's get to Thursday night football.
6:14Thursday night football. Between the Falcons and the Packers, this is a pretty difficult game to handicap from my perspective.
6:21Packers are 5.5 point favorite. Total 42.5. Michael Penix will get the start.
6:25As a result, you can pretty much... We still don't know what we're going to get from Penix, right?
6:32Like, first game, how healthy is he? Is there rust?
6:35Like, what's it going to look like? Now, the one thing I will say is we know it will look better than what it did with Cooper Rush.
6:45It cannot look worse. He had basically like an interception every nine throws.
6:49He's been the worst quarter. The average depth of the target of four yards.
6:54Like, it was basically just an interception or throw it to Bijan in the flat.
6:59It will look better than that. But there's still a lot of uncertainty there.
7:04Packers coming off of a lucky win at under 200 yards of total offense.
7:08It was very ugly. Offensive line injuries. Short week after an overtime game and pretty banged up.
7:14This is... You can look at this from a lot of different angles.
7:19I did play something here, but curious to hear your thoughts first, Doug.
7:23Did you bet anything here? Yeah, no. It's the dog or nothing.
7:27I do think the Packers, you know, first home game, short week for Atlanta.
7:32I don't know what to make of it. I mean, there's some amazing stats over the first couple weeks of the year.
7:39But Atlanta not taking a snap in the opponent's red zone is pretty impressive.
7:44So, but to your point, it's got to be better.
7:47And modelers I talk to think it's a big step in like 2.8 panics improvement over not just Cooper Rush, but an injured Cooper Rush, right?
7:56And the D2 guy was nothing special either when he got in, Jack Strand.
8:01I just hate all these injuries for the Packers.
8:04Like, I'm still alive in some survivor pools elsewhere.
8:07And I was... I had earmarked kind of the Packers in this game, but I can't go there.
8:13And typically, we're going to have a bunch of stats.
8:16Evan's going to help us out. But teams that start 0-2 facing either 1-1 teams or underdogs in Week 3 are just
8:24awesome against the spread in Week 3. So, that's why I would just have to take the points.
8:30Because I just don't know what to make of Atlanta right now.
8:34We just... They've had an inept quarterback. And they have, obviously...
8:38If you can just get to Bijan and then this Green Bay offensive line is nothing and they also have injuries, I
8:45think you just got to have to take the points because it's the NFL.
8:50Yeah. Teams who are 0-2 against the spread end straight up versus teams who aren't.
8:55So, they either have a win or a cover.
8:58Right. Are 28-14 against the spread since 2015. And there's a reason for it.
9:03Like, the teams that haven't won a game, haven't covered, usually no one wants to bet them.
9:09So, they might be a little bit inflated. I mean, those teams this week are the Falcons, the Dolphins, the Chargers, and the Bucs.
9:17Like, does anyone want to put their money on any of those teams?
9:21No. So, you might get a little bit of value.
9:24I personally played the Falcons at some 6-6.5. 5-5, I'd still play at nothing big.
9:30We just don't know what we're going to get from Pennix.
9:33Like, it's going to be better than Rush, but, like, what's it going to look like?
9:39But these Green Bay offensive line injuries are devastating.
9:42They had one really good offense. This was one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL, in my opinion, coming into the year.
9:50They had one really good offensive lineman as the right tackle, formerly known as Zach Tom.
9:55He's out for the year. And then they have other injuries they're dealing with.
10:00I mean, this is one of the least experienced offensive lines and one of the least talented.
10:06Jaden Reed also hurt. Like I mentioned, short week after an overtime game.
10:10I mean, they're 30th in rush success rate. They cannot pass block.
10:14They're dead last in pass block win rate. 18%.
10:17That's pathetically low. Dead last in time to pressure.
10:20And the Falcons still have been getting a little bit of pressure.
10:24They don't have A.J. Terrell, which will hurt a little bit at corner.
10:29But you can basically throw out the first two games for Atlanta on offense.
10:34Like, it was just completely dysfunctional. They still have a good offensive line.
10:38Third in pass block win rate. They have good skill position guys.
10:42With all the injuries for Green Bay, I had to take the points here in a desperation spot for the Falcons.
10:49But, like, just the uncertainty surrounding Penix makes this very difficult.
10:53So, definitely not a big bet by any stretch.
10:56I generally hate Thursday night football anyway. Right. I got a stat for you.
11:01Just to, like, crystallize this Atlanta thing. Not just the red zone thing.
11:05League worst. Minus 53.1 EPA on offense through two weeks.
11:08It's the worst through two weeks since the 2006 Raiders.
11:12Wow. That might have been Jamarcus' era. Yeah. That's pretty stunning.
11:15That's, like... Well, the funny thing is, I was calling for Strand half-jokingly.
11:20But his first pass was a pick six. So, that didn't help the EPA numbers.
11:25I believe Brett Favre's first pass attempt was a pick six, too.
11:29No, I think it was a pass to himself, right?
11:32Wasn't it? He got tipped into himself. Maybe. I think Brady's first pass in college was a pick six, I think.
11:40Oh, God. Don't quote me on that. Yeah. Aaron Brooks and Walter were the quarterbacks for the Raiders.
11:46Andrew Walter? That's a... Oh, God. ASU. Yeah, I think that team won, like, one...
11:512006 Raiders won, like, one game, I think. They were bad, bad.
11:552-14. 2-14? Evan, do you have anything... So, the Falcons, through two weeks, have scored...
12:00What? They scored 3 and 13. So, they're averaging under 10 points per game.
12:05Do you have anything in that realm, or teams that are, like, averaging under 10, or have scored zero, or is there
12:12anything like that popping up for this week? Usually, it's first half.
12:16That is the angle. I could take a look right now.
12:20I don't have it, like, computed, but usually when you score under, like, that certain mark, it's a first half bet versus a full game.
12:28But I could see first two weeks of the regular season.
12:32Okay. To me, I'll give you one on this game.
12:35Everyone talks about the OT stuff, but the craziest thing is, as bad as Atlanta's offense has been, Green Bay is 4-24.
12:43Third down, fourth down. That's last. To start the year.
12:46It's just ridiculous all in itself. So, this game has to go one way or the other.
12:52They both look terrible. Yep. Yeah, I mean, just...
12:55It's the... The Green Bay offensive line is super problematic, and it's going to be all year, especially without their lone reliable starter the rest of the way.
13:04And it's a defense that... Look, they're taking away explosive plays, but they still don't have Micah Parsons.
13:11It's a defense that's built around needing Micah Parsons.
13:14So, I think Atlanta, with Bijan and company, can find a way to move the ball and keep this close.
13:20All right. Let's get into our best bets. We always start off with each of our favorite bets of the week.
13:27Doug, what do you got lined up for this weekend?
13:31Yeah. So, every week, you got to be fluid and stay nimble.
13:35I liked last week's card. This week, I actually really hate it.
13:39I feel like all the good spots, you're either having to take a team that may not even be an NFL team,
13:46like the Dolphins, or you have just a dumb coach, and it's a complete mismatch of coaches.
13:52So, all the spots, all the things I look for, not really that favorable.
13:57So, I like a lot of totals. But in terms of my sides for our six-pack, I'll start with the Niners.
14:04I really think they're just a really good team and healthy beginning of the year.
14:09I think they're on a roll. Purdy has been playing awesome.
14:13Now, obviously, they played the Dolphins last week, and you kind of need to take things with a grain of salt.
14:20But they dominated the Rams. Now, that could have been jet lagged.
14:24They're laying over a touchdown here with Arizona, but they lost at home to Arizona.
14:29So, I'm hoping that sort of amateur psychologist role I'm playing helps them not be flat and not look past this team.
14:36And I also don't think the Cardinals are good.
14:40I think their floor is higher, as I've said, with Brissette, but their ceiling's not that high.
14:45I think the Niners can just roll them here, and there's just a better outfit.
14:50I think the Cardinals, yeah, they got the win in week one, but we've kind of learned what the Chargers are, and we saw what happened last week.
15:00I think they'll take care of business. I think San Francisco, and again, it's not like a huge bet.
15:06It's just like, you know, I have to find two.
15:10So, it's the one I feel pretty good about just because there's such a talent gap, and there's a reason maybe that
15:17they don't come out flat and overlook them. Yeah, I mean, I think you brought up two key points there.
15:24I mean, San Francisco does, look, they lost another wide receiver into Marcus Robinson.
15:29They have some defensive line. It's just like, when does that catch up?
15:33And, like, the one thing I'm worried about is, like, did they just catch the Rams because of the travel, and then
15:40they played the Dolphins, who were just not an NFL team.
15:44So, like, are we buying high here? Because Purdy has been incredible, arguably the best quarterback in the NFL right there with Josh Allen through two weeks.
15:53He's just been ripping defenses apart. But the two things that you brought up, one is, and I kind of got tricked
16:01into this a little bit with the Cardinals. That win over the Chargers just looks like nothing now.
16:07The Chargers are completely dysfunctional, and they showed that in week two.
16:11So you have to, okay, it's like, oh, look at Arizona.
16:15But then the Raiders went in there and beat them even more soundly.
16:19So I think that had more to do with the Chargers.
16:23And then the second thing is the secondary injuries for Arizona.
16:26Arizona. Will Johnson goes on IR, Garrett Williams, Max Melton dealing with injuries, and they're not deep at that position now.
16:34So they could be extremely shorthanded at cornerback. Now, maybe that's helped out a little bit by the San Francisco wide receiver
16:41injuries, but you still have Mike Evans, assuming he's healthy, and Debo.
16:45And, you know, they're going to throw to McCaffrey and Kittle.
16:49So they should find ways to move the ball here.
16:52I'm close to the number, but the way that San Francisco is playing here, I don't hate it.
16:58You mentioned a bunch of totals. We will get to all of those that you like.
17:04By the way, Evan brought up, is this averaging 13 points or less?
17:08Or 13 points? No, scoring 13 or less in both games.
17:12Scoring 13 or less in the first two weeks, which is Atlanta and Miami.
17:17Those teams in week three are 20, 12, and 1 against the spread since 2005.
17:22So we only have about 33 instances over 21 years.
17:25That's 62.5%. That gets back to just buying low on some of these teams and maybe getting a little value.
17:32But I'm going to move on to my favorite bet.
17:35So we're starting off with San Francisco. For our second pick, I'm going with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers plus 1.5.
17:42I could rattle off all the trends in the world about the 0-2 against the spread teams that we've already mentioned.
17:4955% against the spreads in 2003. Underdogs are 74, 54, and 1.
17:53So there's some of these teams that I don't want to buy.
17:57This is what you have to decipher. Some of these teams that I am willing to buy.
18:03The Bucs are one of them. I track who's the luckiest, who's the unluckiest teams in the NFL.
18:09The Bucs have been the unluckiest, and the Vikings have been the luckiest.
18:13I mean, the Bucs easily could be 2-0. They went in to Cincy, and they had, what, negative 22 EPA because of turnovers.
18:21They kept fumbling it. They fumbled going into the end zone.
18:25That game migrated basically as a coin flip. Last week, they got really hurt, I think.
18:30They didn't play well, but they got really hurt from the lightning delay.
18:35I mean, I think that hurts the offense so much more.
18:38You have to come back out, the two-minute warning, with no offensive rhythm.
18:43And then, you know, Baker missed the throw. Then there was a drop.
18:47The drop. They didn't play well. You make a good point in the game.
18:52Baker's been playing pretty poorly, though. It's not just that.
18:55I agree. They're the metrics. They're the unluckiest team so far, for sure.
19:00But he also hasn't played well. Baker hasn't played well at all.
19:04And even going back to last year, beginning of last year, he's been kind of like 25th in the league kind of thing.
19:12Yeah. And, like, a lot of that was, okay, second half of the year.
19:16Maybe he was dealing with an injury. But so far this year, he has not looked great.
19:22But I'm willing to buy the Bucs here. And this is also a sell of Minnesota.
19:28I mean, to mention some of the lucky versus unlucky.
19:31By the way, the Vikings easily could be 0-2.
19:34Yes. They got outgained by, like, 200 yards by the Packers, who I don't think are any good.
19:40That game flipped on a failed quarterback sneak and then a bunch of turnovers and some calls that went against them.
19:47And then last week, you know, Caleb gets hurt.
19:50He was about to run in for a touchdown.
19:53The Bears fumble at the one. They get a field goal blocked.
19:57Like, they easily – this could be the 2-0 Bucs hosting the 0-2 Vikings.
20:02And they were not – How do you feel about Kyler?
20:06How do you feel about Kyler in for Wentz?
20:09Yeah. So, that's – this is also a fade of Kyler.
20:13So, it's his first – like, he looked a little lost when he first got in.
20:18But this will be, like, his first game action.
20:21And they have to change the offense. It's going to be more gun.
20:25And, like, it's going to be an adjustment. Like, one of the reasons the Vikings turned around that game against the Packers
20:33is in the second half, they went under center.
20:36They went more play action, more heavy personnel. That's not Kyler Murray's game.
20:40So, I think there's going to be some – I think he's better than Wentz.
20:45But I think there's going to be some growing pains early on.
20:49He's also struggled historically against the Blitz. You know you're going to get the Blitz from Bowles.
20:55Two Blitz-happy defenses. Baker historically has been much better against the Blitz than Kyler.
21:00But to mention some of the luck components here, the Vikings opponents are 2-for-5 on fourth down, 1-for-7 in the red zone.
21:07They have a plus-3 turnover margin. The Bucs have a minus-4.
21:11Like I mentioned, they got out-game by 2.5 yards per play against the Packers in week one.
21:17So, look, this is – and the offense is already – it was dead last in early down success rate against the Packers and Bears.
21:25Like, they can't run the ball. They're going to miss Jordan Mason.
21:29You have to be able to throw it to your backs against the Bucs.
21:34That's not really Aaron Jones right now. I think he's dead last in EPA amongst running backs when targeted.
21:41But a couple other factors here that push this over the edge, other than this is a good buy low, sell high
21:48spot, desperate Bucs team, you're going to get – it's an early season Florida weather game.
21:53So, humidity for a dome team. Baker has historically been much better against zone than man, especially when Mike Evans has not
22:01been in the lineup because Mike Evans was their man beater.
22:05And one of the things – I don't know if they just weren't prepared for it, but the Browns, which we'll get
22:12to later, upped their man rates last week to 65%.
22:15And their defense was much better doing that. And it was historically a man defense under Jim Schwartz.
22:21Week one it wasn't. I don't know if the Bucs were prepared or not.
22:26We're surprised by it. But Baker historically has not been as effective against man.
22:31Flores, you're hardly going to see any man at all.
22:34So there's going to be a ton of zone here.
22:38There's going to be opportunities for Baker downfield. So I'm selling the Vikings after the 2-0 start.
22:43A little fraudulent. I'm expecting the Bucs to bounce back here.
22:47Baker does have to be better, but I think this is a good buy low spot.
22:53What about 11 straight non-covered, no-covers? Well, yeah, you want to talk about buying low.
22:58And I don't think it gets any – they're going for the record here, right?
23:03It's the record. It's the record. If they don't cover here, that's the record.
23:08Is Bulls coaching for his job? Is he fired if they lose?
23:12He – I think they might be. He might be.
23:15Is he the favorite to be the first coach fired?
23:18Well, he's the favorite right now because of Liam – not necessarily this weekend, but he is the favorite.
23:25Liam Cohen was in their building, right, as the OC.
23:28They could have fired him and promoted Cohen, but then they – so I think they're a little – have an itchy
23:36trigger finger right now because I think they have remorse on letting him out of the building.
23:41Canales and – Oh, Canales too. Yep. So, yeah, not a good look.
23:46So, yeah, I think he's definitely on the hot seat.
23:49But, yeah, they're going – if they do not cover, this will be the record.
23:54Who holds the record, Evan? Do you remember? 83-84 Oilers hold the record.
23:59Who can forget that? Which, I mean – Not – I mean, yeah.
24:03Well, now tied with the Bucs. So, the Bucs currently actually hold the record and they can hold it themselves with a loss against the spread this weekend.
24:12Now it won. And was that Oilers single season by chance, or is this the all-time mark?
24:18Is – I believe it bled over. Okay. The Titans still own, like, the atrocity of Will Levis.
24:24Will forever live in infamy. This is more impressive because the market is so much tighter now than it was in the 80s.
24:32So, to be this bad – Because there's market correction, the market's tight.
24:37Like, to be this badly – Because this is – I mean, just so people knew – you know, the people that
24:44are part of the audience who are not as advanced.
24:47But the market continues to adjust, yet they still under-deliver.
24:51So, this – So, 12 straight or 11 straight in ATS is way different than a roulette wheel.
24:57That's pretty remarkable in today's NFL. By the way, the 83-84 Oilers, their quarterbacks that year, Oliver Luck, Andrew Luck's dad, Archie
25:04Manning, and someone named Gifford Nielsen, they've combined to go 2-14 on the season.
25:09And despite the name Oliver Luck, they had no luck.
25:12I think they lost four overtime games. That's amazing.
25:15Some fun throwback names. All right. So, Doug's going with San Francisco minus 8.5.
25:20I'm going with Tampa Bay plus 1.5. And for Evan's pick, we're going to go to our marquee game of the week between the Patriots and Jaguars.
25:29And before Evan reveals his pick, I will say I am completely on board because I had to change one of mine
25:37because I'm a gentleman and gave my pick to Evan.
25:40In this game, the Patriots – let me check the most recent odds.
25:45Jags are – you can find a juice 2.5 out there.
25:48It's floating between 2.5 and 3. We'll call it a juice 2.5.
25:52You can find minus 115 out there. It's minus 3 even money at DraftKings right now.
25:58Evan, who are you going with? Yeah, it's Jags or nothing, at least for me.
26:03Jaguars last home game until week 8 because of some fun London stuff.
26:07So, this will be the last time their Jags fans see them in a little while.
26:13Obviously, no A.J. Brown, but the Onwenu injury as well, bringing out Van Roten there is going to be an issue for New England.
26:21Jags pretty healthy altogether early in the season. New England obviously off the 20-3 win.
26:26Jags off the loss to Denver. The thing I do like as well, Vrabel and Trevor, lots of experience.
26:32They've faced each other six times already. Trevor, 60-plus completion percentage, all six starts.
26:37Last four starts, eight touchdowns, two picks. The thing I really like, sacked only twice in those four games.
26:43So, I won't take more time than needed, but I kind of like the Jags under the field goal with the juice.
26:51I just think it's the right play at the right time.
26:55I think they're a better team. And I think you saw a good Dobbs last week, but without A.J., I just think
27:02that offense is a little lackluster, and I think Jags get a bounce back.
27:07It's not Jags or nothing. You like the Jags, Evan.
27:10I have to teach you how to give these picks out.
27:14I love the Jags. It would have been my first or second best bet.
27:19You mentioned the injuries. New England is beat up.
27:22No A.J. Brown. Now their best offensive lineman is out.
27:25Greg Van Roten was miserable last week. So, you have beat up offensive line, not a fully healthy wide receiver.
27:32And you have injuries on defense at safety and corner and edge rush.
27:36I mean, this is a beat up team, as you mentioned.
27:40And the Jags, conversely, are pretty much completely healthy.
27:43Devon Hamilton, their defensive tackle is important for their run defense.
27:47He went out for a while last week against Denver, and then Denver got their run game going.
27:53But he was back in there at the end of the game, so I think he should be fine.
27:59And they're healthy across the board. Ventrell Miller, who needed to step up with the departure of Devin Lloyd, he's played really well.
28:07I've been impressed with him. That was one of my biggest concerns.
28:11But Drake May is just not seeing it right now.
28:14I mean, he's hesitating. He's worried about the interceptions.
28:17He's kind of just shook from this recent poor run dating back to last year in the playoffs.
28:24And just, we have to mention, his numbers just haven't been as great when he started to face real competition.
28:30But he's... Six straight games with a negative EPA on dropbacks going back to the playoffs.
28:36I mean, obviously Seattle's really good, but still six straight, like you said, the competition.
28:41The guy almost won the MVP. Yeah. Crazy. It's pretty crazy.
28:45I also think the impact of Christian Gonzalez, who's one of the best corners in the NFL, is a little lessened in
28:52this matchup because the Jags can spread it out.
28:55They can go heavy. They can do... There's a lot of ways for Liam Cohen to attack this Pats defense.
29:02They can go heavy and get Jones off the field.
29:05And what puts this over the edge for me, Drake May continues to struggle against cover six.
29:11And I thought, going into the Seattle game, well, let's...
29:14You have all offseason to come up with some solutions.
29:18Nope. There were no solutions. Jags are one of the heavier cover six teams.
29:22Campanelli, a quasi-Fangio disciple. He'll run it here. And the Pats and May just don't have any solutions right now.
29:29I think that puts this over the top. And the Jags have been extremely, extremely good at home.
29:358-1 against the spread at home since the start of last year.
29:39Shout out Duval. I think the Jags, given all the injuries, are cheap at under a field goal like minus 2.5, up to minus 120.
29:48So that's our third... And the humidity, right? Would you classify the humidity as a factor?
29:53Another Florida home game. But yeah, give me Liam Cohen to get it done here.
29:58So we got first three best bets of the six-pack.
30:02San Francisco, minus 8.5. Tampa Bay, plus 1.5. And Jacksonville, minus 2.5, minus 115.
30:06All right. It's time to get to my weekly Ravens filibuster.
30:10Let the filibustering begin! One of the marquee games of the weekend.
30:14This one should be exciting. Baltimore's a three-and-a-half point favorite.
30:18Total 52-and-a-half. This game we played in Brazil, there are worries about the field conditions.
30:23The NFL said they will proceed. I mean, who's asking for this?
30:27I made a joke on Twitter that they're going to play a game on the moon and just they're a little worried
30:34about the gravity and the craters, but we got to get the extraterrestrial audience.
30:39Like, it's insane. But people in Brazil have TVs, but they're going to play in Brazil.
30:44Hopefully no one gets hurt. Maybe that dictates if some of these injured players play or not, especially ones dealing with like a hamstring.
30:52So maybe Zay Flowers doesn't play. He didn't practice today, but Minter said he's hopeful on Flowers and Matabuke, who was a full participant today.
31:01So he should be good to go. Big difference maker for this Ravens defense.
31:06And then we'll see on the Ravens offensive line, Ronnie Stanley didn't practice today with a toe injury, so he's one to watch.
31:13But two for two on Ravens games this year.
31:17It's been my most profitable team by far. They got job last week in my opinion.
31:22I mean, by the way, last week they had a 64% success rate.
31:26That's 99th percentile. Second highest for a team in a loss over the past three years.
31:32Plus 15% net success rate. I have no idea how they lost that game.
31:36They just somehow first half was the banger. We talked about it.
31:41Saints are terrible in the first half. Ravens are great.
31:44Like that was the easiest bet of the weekend.
31:47Yeah, it seems like the Ravens lose a game like this.
31:51We mentioned it the week two. Week two or three.
31:54Week two or three. So they got it out of the way this year.
31:59It's incredible. But game stayed under. I don't think Chuck scored, but I think that they scored earlier.
32:05Yeah. But I think it was a makeup as well.
32:08And they missed the face mask. Yeah. Face mask.
32:11I'm sure they saw that in the replay and let them correct it.
32:16I know these people operate that way. Yeah, they're human after all.
32:20But look, I played the Ravens here. If you can find a three, we'll call it three and a half here, but
32:27if you can find a juice three, which they're out there.
32:31I played some three minus one 18 this morning.
32:34I like the Ravens here. This Dallas defense is not up to snuff and they're dealing with injuries all over now.
32:41They're dead last in success rate and they've played the Giants and Washington who had a completely beat up offensive line, lost
32:49Jane Daniels at the end of the first half and they're dead last in success rate.
32:54It's going to take Christian Parker time and they need to get healthy.
32:58What did Ravens can do here? The Ravens offense, by the way, it's number one in success rate with the biggest ADOT in the league.
33:07They're number one in EPA per rush. They're number one in run block win rate.
33:12The Cowboys are 29th in rush success rate. The Ravens had an 83% rush success rate last week, highest than any game by any team for years.
33:21Ravens team total or 52 and a half. I mean, this feels so low.
33:26We'll get to your overlook, but I just think what they can do here.
33:31So Matabuke back, the Ravens defense can get some stops.
33:34Jack's going to be Dak, but the offensive line isn't as good without Tyler Smith.
33:39The running game isn't functioning as it was last year.
33:42The Cowboys are going to move the ball and put up points, but I think the Ravens can get some stops.
33:49I'm not sure how Dallas can get any stops.
33:53With or without Zay Flowers plays, blow the lid off.
33:56The Ravens are going to put up a big number here.
34:00But even without Zay Flowers, what the Ravens can do here is they can just go giant style and they basically have
34:07they have Scadaboo on steroids in Derrick Henry and Jackson Dart on steroids in Lamar Jackson.
34:12Go heavy, throw to your tight ends, run, and the Cowboys have, they don't have the linebackers to stop it.
34:19They could just run, run, run, set up play action.
34:23Lamar can run. Mobile quarterbacks have already given Dallas issues.
34:26There's been communication issues. I just don't see how the Cowboys get any stops in this game.
34:32So, one of the things I am worried about is the special teams disadvantage.
34:37I still don't trust Tyler Lute. Cowboys are really good special teams.
34:41Ravens have some issues in that department. So, maybe there's some hidden points that the Cowboys can get.
34:47And their offense is scary. Their receivers are scary.
34:50But, I like the way this Ravens defense is playing.
34:53Simpson's playing well. You're seeing some flashes from Mike Green.
34:56Even Marlon Humphrey is playing really well. I did not see that coming.
35:01They just have a significantly better defense. And it's Lamar.
35:04They're going to get a lead here. And they're going to be able to just sit on it by running right down Dallas' throat.
35:12And I just don't see how Dallas gets many stops.
35:16So, some uncertainty here with the field conditions and the travel.
35:19But, I really like the I know some guys doing the Ravens and Survivor.
35:24Wow. Just the, you know, they've either used the Niners or they're saving the Chiefs.
35:29You know, one of those things. I don't hate it.
35:33I mean, you really like them. I mean, you know.
35:36I really like them. And the line's getting steamed.
35:39It could be four and a half by kickoff, five.
35:43Yeah, it depends. I think this would get up to four if Flowers plays.
35:47If not, probably settled. Well, just those dead numbers.
35:50Once we blew past three on Tuesday, right? Who knows if this goes to five and a half quick.
35:57Yeah. The Dallas offense is too good for it to get out to that.
36:01I mean, I think four is the ceiling. Okay.
36:05And then it's going to depend, but it's going to depend on Flowers.
36:09And then some of the other, there's a lot of some injuries worth watching.
36:14Ronnie Stanley. There's the corners of the Cowboys too.
36:17Thin secondary. Yeah. I mean, the Dallas secondary, they're linebackers.
36:20There's injuries. We're recording this before the official injury report, but on the injury, I mean, Overshown's out.
36:26Kobe Durant is out. Malik Cooker and Dee Winters are dealing with injuries.
36:31So, and the ones to watch for the Ravens are Stanley.
36:34Matabuke was a full. I think he's a go.
36:37And then obviously Flowers. He didn't practice today, but receiver dealing with a hamstring travel like Friday is going to be the day to watch there.
36:46And in case anyone's wondering, they're both scheduled to leave at the same time or arrive on the same day.
36:53And they're both about nine or ten hours. So I don't think we're going to have a disparity of travel situation like we did with the Australia game.
37:02Yeah. And you like the over here, Doug. I do.
37:06I mean, just who's going to stop who? I mean, I think Baltimore team total is probably the better of the two,
37:13but it's kind of like we talked about with the bills and lines with that new field and potentially slow.
37:20I would look at alt overs too. This could just be a ridiculous situation.
37:25Yeah. You can have defenders if like footing's an issue.
37:28That's a big advantage for the offense. So they've never played a football game in Brazil, but this field, like you touched on it.
37:36I mean, there's so much unknown, right? Yeah. That's where the alt lines really come into our smart bets just because of the variance.
37:44So hopefully keep it going. Keep the streak going with my Ravens games and Baltimore can get a cover, a win and
37:52a cover and get it done by more than a field goal.
37:56Let's move on to the grossest game of the week.
37:59What's that smell? It stinks. What do you mean?
38:02It's trash. The sweet, sweet trash. The trash is a gold mine.
38:06Gold mine. Gold mine. We're going to New York for the Giants and the Titans.
38:11The Giants are two and a half point favorite.
38:14Juice two and a half. Three. Juice to the Titans in some spots.
38:19Total is down to 39 and a half. Big news here, obviously.
38:23Jackson Dart out for the year. Jameis will get the start.
38:27Brian Burns is doubtful. Andrew Thomas is dealing with an injury.
38:30Their offensive line goes to Smithers when Andrew Thomas is out.
38:34Their secondary is dealing with injuries. So this is a beat up team.
38:38I mean, the Giants fans all had hope. You were talking about like, look, you could see this team and it's done.
38:46Jameis, the under makes a ton of sense here.
38:49So does teasing Tennessee. Jameis just can't, number one, I think he's shot, but he's going to take risks.
38:55He's probably going to like throw a pick. He'll make some crazy throw, but he doesn't fit what this offense wants to be.
39:03Like they wanted to be a physical rushing attack, throw to the tight ends, take your play action shots, run your quarterback.
39:11That's not Jameis. He's like, he can't help himself from the low points, but his upside's there.
39:16I mean, he's, he leads, he's led the NFL in touchdown passes and led the NFL in interceptions.
39:22And that's the full Jameis experience. Yep. You're always, it's going to be interesting to watch as always.
39:29But, but I also just think he doesn't have the same arm strength.
39:33I use doesn't fit with this offensive. The Giants defense is bad.
39:37I had a guy telling me he doesn't even think Jameis like wants to play.
39:42Like this is like his worst night. His like post playing career life.
39:47You know, he was doing that stuff as a correspondent during the world cup.
39:51He was trying to kind of tap into the world cup, sorry, the New York media.
39:57Yeah. So is he really going to prep all week?
40:00I think he'll look better than when he did, you know, thrust into action mid game.
40:05But I do worry that, I don't know. I mean, I don't know.
40:10I mean, it's disappointing because he has like he's a great leader.
40:14He's well liked all that stuff. But now I'm now I'm worried that he's like not even focused.
40:20But it's not like Cam Ward's been hitting the cover off the ball either.
40:25No, these quarterbacks are complete opposites around. Cam Ward's averaging five yard, five yard average depth of target.
40:31Like he's not taking chances. He won't throw in the tight windows.
40:35Their running game has been okay. So I think that's what they're going to lean on here.
40:41And they should have some success against the Giants run defense.
40:44So is Cam Ward and these receivers the one to attack this Giants secondary?
40:49Probably not. So I lean under here. I'm just like Jameis could throw some picks.
40:54Like you just never know. He's going to be throwing it downfield.
40:58Like these are the complete opposite quarterbacks. Jameis is going to be firing it into tight windows.
41:04Cam Ward is just like seems like he's afraid right now and not taking any chances.
41:09You need kind of a mix of both of them for your quarterback.
41:14I like this note from Evan. It's the second lowest total of Jameis's career.
41:19So you still like the under but he's such a over quarterback.
41:23I don't think I can play it at 39 and a half but if I had to bet the total I would bet the under.
41:31I'm not playing it. I think Tennessee is a teaser piece with a total of 40 makes sense.
41:37What was the lowest? Oh yeah. You got a 36 and a half here in November 24 when he was with Cleveland.
41:45Oh that's had to be weather. Yeah. The blizzard game.
41:48How about this stat? It's just ridiculous. So the league average right now of touchbacks is 16%.
41:54Okay. This new kickoff rule. Titans can't figure it out.
41:57They kick touchbacks. Unbelievable. 57%. 57. Just give it up like 8 yards on average.
42:0210 yards every time they kick. Yeah. So it's like field goal range is that much closer for the opponent every time they kick off.
42:11Not that there's going to be a ton of kickoffs we think in this game.
42:16But how does one team so bad at this?
42:19I don't know. Yeah. That is like something you would see under Callahan.
42:23Well that's part of it. I mean that's no that it's got it goes back to the previous year.
42:30So that's part of it. Yeah. All right. Before we get to the rest of the card just in time for football season.

44:27Oh my God, Lexi. We have a new podcast.
44:30It's called Don't Lie to Me. I'm Lexi Iwano.
44:33We're two best friends, 22 years apart, but so close at heart.
44:37And I'm Lisa DiGiulio, the old one, which means we have wildly different references, occasionally different opinions, and at this point in my 50s, I've lived it all.
44:47I'm not going to get anywhere fighting. That is wild.
44:50I learned that about you today. Now in my 30s, being the founder of New Shoes, Good Taste is my business, and I've always got something to say.
45:00If men were just honest about this, there would be so much more peace in the world.
45:05We're going to talk about dating, relationships, beauty, getting older, and a little wiser.
45:10We're best friends, but we don't always agree. Because you told us how accommodating you are.
45:15Obviously, I would do what I think I could do to fight the fight, but there's only so much fight I can fight.
45:23Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me.
45:27Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me.

46:00Yeah, it's reading. It's called reading. So we don't like to use that word anymore.
46:05Okay. A panel of New Yorker cartoonists. Have you guys done Terry Gross's Peloton class?
46:10No! I've been dying to. I'm so sorry. I'm seeing a reading of Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes by Audra McDonald at the Wonderland bookstore on 14th.
46:20That's crazy. I went to the Wonderland bookstore yesterday and I heard Nora Jones do a reading of Zero Dark Thirty.
46:27No way. You have to come to the last bookstore, though.
46:31Kim Cattrall is reading the guitar tabs of yesterday.

48:00Let's pick up the pace. Hurry this up, please.
48:03Just wanted to make it more exciting. And don't leave out anything.
48:07All right, let's get to some hurry up offense before we get to the primetime games and the rest of our best bets.
48:14Let's go through a bunch of games here. Chiefs, Dolphins.
48:18Chiefs are 11.5 point favorites in Miami. I could tell you 17,000 trends of why you should bet the Dolphins.
48:25I mean, maybe more. Evan could probably give you 25,000.
48:28They're 11.5 point home dog. They started 0-2 against the spread and straight up.
48:33It's their first home game. Total 46.5 here, by the way.
48:36The spot screams Miami. I mean, you have the Chiefs coming off an overtime game.
48:42You have going on the road. Mahomes. This is weak.
48:45Evan calls this the Mahomes where he wins but doesn't cover.
48:49That's what's happened every time he's been a double-digit favorite.
48:52He's 0-4 and 1 against the spread. It's a double-digit favorite, 5-0 straight up.
48:57On the road, right. But I can't play Miami.
49:00I don't know where the bottom is for this Miami team.
49:04I think I would need like 14 to feel comfortable playing.
49:07They do nothing well. Their special teams is bad.
49:10Bobby Sloat's calling the offense. I mean, I can't do it.
49:14Yeah, everything you said is right. The problem is and the reason we all have reservation with this is because I don't think they're an NFL team.
49:23I'm not ready to say that a college team can beat them or anything silly like that, but this might be the
49:31worst NFL roster because they're paying so many guys who are on the roster.
49:35This is not a real honor. You're paying more for guys who aren't on the roster than are on the roster.
49:42So this is where we need to think I can't.
49:46They're so bad. Yeah, I would be very happy if I don't have to play Miami all year, but this could be
49:53one of those like you go into the year with priors.
49:57I already had them as the worst team. I've continued to downgrade them.
50:01I might end up doing it again this week and doing it again and again and then all of a sudden like
50:09they're in like worst of all time. I don't know.
50:12I don't if the Dolphins the spot screams Dolphins if you want to buy low on the Dolphins that's usually my part of my philosophy.
50:21The Dolphins are my type of play here. Floor, humidity.
50:24Totally. And it's the humidity and the way the stadium is angled so the opponent the visitors in the sun during when
50:32kickoff it's like everything all the stars align like you said 17,000 reasons.
50:36I just can't because this is not a real NFL team.
50:40Yeah. I just can't do it. And if the Dolphins like last week the Dolphins were a buy low sell high right?
50:47You get the the 49ers coming didn't matter. 49ers destruction.
50:50So if the Dolphins cover I'll shrug. It'll be okay.
50:54I I just can't bet them right now. Evan are you partaking in any of these trends?
51:00I'm stressing about the pick them. Like I have to pick it.
51:04Like I don't even know who to pick. As far as like I guess the spread for a pool?
51:10Right. I have to pick every game. You know I'm not even betting it.
51:15I don't even know who to pick. I probably that'll be my the way that I I get my buy low sell
51:22high rocks off and some pick them pools. I'll pick the Dolphins.
51:26Evan are you partaking? I would be more just in the under 46 and a half still.
51:32I think the under is the best total. Since Tyreek left Pat's 45 and 30 to the under 41 and 24 to the under as a favorite.
51:41Like it's just a different situation and the second halves are ridiculous.
51:45They're like a snake. So 46 and a half just feels a little aggressive.
51:50Doug you like the under there too? Right. I think it's the best total on the bet board.
51:56The best total bet. I think the under all the stuff we talked about the spot which is why we would take
52:04Miami in the points lends itself to the under.
52:07It's not like we think Miami's going to score a bunch to cover or the spot.
52:12It would be one of these were just like the Chiefs just don't have it the humidity.
52:18They're just at a sink. They're tired. Maybe the defense can just kind of blindfolded like do enough to kind of hang around.
52:26I think it's a total under bed. Yeah. If the Dolphins are going to cover I do think it's probably correlated under
52:33because that means like the Chiefs are just a little off little flat and that means Miami can run the ball keep
52:40the clock moving keep the chains moving and that's how they stay in the game and then you have a classic like
52:48Chiefs are up 10 with seven to go in the fourth and it's like 27 or like 24 to 14 and they
52:55just bleed seven minutes off the clock and then they get a first down and take knees.
53:01That's one of the reasons why they are so good.
53:04So I don't mind the under look there but nothing for me.
53:09There are four well I should say five by low spots on dogs who have looked really bad this week this year.
53:16One we just talked about in the Dolphins. I can't do it.
53:20Another was the Falcons. I can do that one.
53:23The Bucks are another one. I did do that one and then we're going to get to two of the other ones now starting with the Chargers.
53:32The Chargers are seven point dogs at Buffalo total 50 and a half.
53:37This is again screaming I should bet the Chargers.
53:40Bills are probably and they might be close to peaked out in the market.
53:44They've looked incredible but keep in mind Houston dropped an interception wide open interception or they beat Buffalo in week one and
53:52then they get Detroit on a short week after an overtime game opening a new stadium and it's the Detroit team I
53:59don't think is very good in dealing with injuries.
54:02So like yes Buffalo's looked really good but the defense is still really bad.
54:07Their pass rush has been very good. Their defensive line, Russo, I assume you're going to get Oliver back here.
54:14Walker's been very good but the back end has issues for days.
54:18So like peaked out defense is bad but the Chargers are so dysfunctional right now and they have injuries.
54:24They lose two of their tight ends. They have offensive line injuries.
54:28They can't block anyone in the interior. Their best defensive player Derwin James that's where a club on his hand.
54:35Their best wide receiver is dealing with a rib injury and this McDaniel marriage is not working.
54:41I don't know if it's too complex. You need to get the ball quick.
54:46So maybe it'll click eventually but the defense also is a major issue.
54:50It looks like they really missed Minter and there's not a ton of talent on that side of the ball.
54:57This screams I have to bet the Chargers. Chargers.
55:00I might just stay away. I'm not going to lay it with the Bills but the Chargers have looked dysfunctional in every possible facet of the game.
55:09I don't think their defense can really be fixed.
55:12It's just there's a lack of talent. They're going to miss Minter.
55:16The interior offensive line can't be fixed. They can't run the ball and everything is just dysfunctional right now.
55:23Maybe they figure it out this week in practice.
55:26Do I really want to bet on them? Doing that going across the country.
55:30Bills extra rest and prep. Probably not. This might be a pass for me.
55:35You like the under here? Yeah, I think so.
55:38I think it's going to be one of those games where I think the Chargers could cover.
55:44I mentioned it earlier. They're much better in the underdog role historically.
55:48Obviously, this is a different team. The O-line leads the league in penalties.
55:52The run game is even worse statistically than the passing game.
55:56Both have looked terrible. There's just nothing to like with this Chargers team.
56:00It's an early start if you believe in that 10 a.m.
56:04stuff. The bills are not amazing. You mentioned the spot against Detroit, but they still fumbled on the opening drive.
56:11The O-line recovered it. That game could have gone in a few different directions, but they also lead the league in plays that have gaining 20-plus yards.
56:20Allen's looked fantastic. A little bit of a flat spot for them off the big win and just drinking the Kool-Aid and everything for 10 days.
56:29In a pick-em league, I'm taking the dog. I can't bet the Chargers, but their season's on the line.
56:35They've got this brutal stretch of seven games. This is their season, and you don't get to the NFL without being a
56:43really competitive dude, so I'm expecting a big effort.
56:46Harbaugh's an elite coach. Over the years, he's won everywhere he's went, so I think he'll know how to push the right
56:53buttons, one would think, but then TV segments, they should trade Herbert and punt on the season and all this other stuff.
57:01I don't know what to make of it, but I do think the total's too high, but betting under in a Josh
57:08Allen game with that Bills defense is always scary.
57:11Yeah. It is, but it also is a high total for how this Chargers offense has looked.
57:17Right. And McConkie, without him, he's very good, but if you take him out, there's not a whole lot Quinton Johnson stinks.
57:24All things considered, they just don't execute anywhere on offense.
57:28By the way, you mentioned Quinton Johnson. One of the Cardinals, I'm almost ready to write Marvin Harrison is a bust or
57:35needs a change of scenery or something, and it's killing their offense with him out there.
57:41He's like the only Ohio State receiver that's not...
57:44I was just about to say of all the Ohio State guys, he's the one.
57:49It's like doesn't run routes. It's just pretty crazy.
57:52Yeah, I... Again, I should play the Chargers here.
57:55Maybe if it gets to seven and a half, I'll think about it.
57:59But the injuries, I mean, look, they lost Kolar.
58:02Tomlinson on the defensive line is out. That was my next question.
58:06guards, Njoku, Brennan Thompson, who like they... Where does this line close?
58:10There's gonna... Like no one's gonna bet the Chargers.
58:13You think the sharp groups will come in? I mean, look, Cleveland got steam last week.
58:19That went to seven and a half from like eight and a half nine.
58:24Yeah, I think there'll be some numbers, guys, that seven and a half will buy it.
58:29So it'll probably close at juice seven, I think.
58:32DJ Moore is probable too. Yeah, he's expected to play.
58:35So, but yeah, the injuries for the Chargers make things even worse.
58:40so you're just gonna have... Yeah, there's gonna be a ton of bill support, like every parlay, every teaser, and then majority
58:47of tickets are gonna be on them, but you'll probably get the sharper groups who are just like, this is too much of an adjustment.
58:55But in a couple weeks, we might be... I mean, last week, I ended up betting the Chargers at six and a half.
59:03I said, all right, Bowers is out, McConkie's playing, I have to buy it.
59:08And, you know, if this is like a four-point adjustment, and you can make the case, like, hey, look, Buffalo was fortunate against Houston.
59:16They got Detroit in a really good spot. Their defense still stinks.
59:20Now this is crossing the seven. So I could see...
59:24I would think about the Chargers at seven and a half, but there's not much to get excited about.
59:30But you're right. This will be... You'll get their best effort, right?
59:34And sometimes after getting embarrassed, it's good to get out on the road.
59:38And it's not like that. That's what I was going to say.
59:42It's the first road game. Like, get the hell out.
59:46You can rally around on the road. Some teams just play better on the road.
59:51I always felt the Cowboys did over the years, just not reading all the press clippings at home.
59:57Just get on the road and play better. Yeah, but it's just going to come down to is the offense functional?
60:04McDaniel has to change some things because it's just not working with the skill set, the interior offensive line.
60:11So we'll see. I think it'll eventually click and get better, but when is that?
60:16You're guessing. And then the other spot is the commanders.
60:19At home, they lost two road games. They lost that Philly in a tight one and covered.
60:25And then they lost that Dallas after Daniels gets hurt and they don't score at the goal line at the end of
60:32the first half and then things just unraveled from there.
60:36But now they're coming home and they're getting a Seattle team that just demolished the Cardinals.
60:41They're now catching seven at home. Look at line, I think it was two, but now Daniels is out.
60:47Mariota's going to start. They're also dealing with offensive line injuries.
60:51An offensive line that already doesn't have. Laramie Tunsil which profiled to be one of the worst in the league so they
60:59can't run the ball which means it's going to be Mariota and this passing attack trying to attack this Seattle secondary.
61:06I generally like to bet Washington when Daniels is out because I don't think the adjustment like a lot of oddsmakers say
61:13it's like a five, five and a half point adjustment.
61:17I don't think it's that much but I will say having Daniels as legs for this particular matchup would have been very
61:24beneficial because they don't have a traditional run game.
61:27You can't run it on Seattle. They're going to get a ton of pressure.
61:32You're going to need his escapability and they won't have that.
61:35So they're also a little banged up on defense.
61:39And look, do I want to bet? I tried it last week and it was I don't think Drew Locke.
61:45I have a good sample size on Drew Locke and he's not that great.
61:50He's been great this year. Has he turned a corner?
61:53I mean, he leads the league. I think he's so I talked to a sharp pro better out here in Vegas.
62:01I've known probably my closest friend who in the betting like we betting partners, if you will.
62:06And he's like, look, he's like, I don't think people are underrating Seattle.
62:11Maybe they are McDonald's a little bit. He's like, I think people are underrating Locke.
62:16If you look at kind of Locke, he was the same as Darnold a couple years ago, written off and then he comes in, sort of gets rejuvenated.
62:25Very different style quarterback in Darnold, but similar script in that he's getting sort of a second chance and even throwing it thrown in action against New England.
62:35He had that bad pass at the end of the first half that he got away with.
62:40Other than that, he's been good. And then I think the right coaching, I think he's sort of benefiting.
62:47I would play Seattle right now because if Darnold going to move to eight and a half, nine, nine and a half.
62:54And I don't think that gap is worth, I think Locke and Darnold are almost like a half point difference.
63:01Like I really, I don't think it's that crazy.
63:04Darnold, we just had an amazing season, but Locke looked great last week.
63:09No, Locke is unbelievable. I think line value right now at seven.
63:13I don't think it's going to go lower, right?
63:16So I think you can lay seven, take back nine and a half and have some fun.
63:21But yeah, I mean, the Daniels injuries changes everything.
63:24I know Mariota is a similar style and I know the reason he's the backup there, kind of like Huntley was behind Lamar.
63:32It's not a big change to playbook, but Daniels is the escapability changes everything.
63:37And in this particular matchup, I think Mariota screwed.
63:40Yeah, their offensive line, Washington's offensive line is going to get killed here.
63:44If Locke plays as well, I don't think Darnold's going to play, but I mean, I think they're just kind of getting
63:52them ready at practice and there's no reason to rush him back.
63:56I think this is a little too soon. With the way Locke's playing, there's no reason to rush him back.
64:03The question for me was no Kubiak. How's this offense starting with the opener with Darnold?
64:08I didn't know how important he was. This defense is ridiculous.
64:12Defense is every week. The ball's thrown past 10 yards.
64:1510 yards past line of scrimmage against Seattle this year.
64:193 their new defensive coordinator is a floor as disciple.
64:22They're blitzing at the second highest right in the league.
64:25Their only hope they're going to blitz a ton and they got to hope Locke makes mistakes.
64:31That's it. The spot is Washington. You're here. Here's the thing.
64:35Seattle I think they've won 9 straight in the 1 Eastern time zone.
64:3910 and 1 against the spread away from home since the start of last year.
64:44They're 20 of 22 overall under Mike McDonald including the playoffs.
64:48ATS it's 17 4 and 1. If you're into live betting they have not allowed an opening drive touchdown in 20 straight games or something insane.
64:57You can create a portfolio if you want to get too cute there.
65:01There's all those ridiculousness. That hurts if you're an under man team.
65:05They're prepared and you can't even get a score with the script.
65:09With the spot favor take a lead early and play down it.
65:13Anyone but Seattle I would love this spot for Washington.
65:17They were getting the Chiefs. Betting against McDonald seems like a fool's errand.
65:21He's locked this year when Seattle is trailing 12 of 15 150 yards touchdown 130 pass rating.
65:27JSN I'm ready to say he's the best receiver in the NFL.
65:31He's averaging 5.5 yards per route run. He doesn't have lead receivers around him.
65:36No one can cover him. His route running is so good.
65:39had three touchdowns last week. Brady talked about the shoulders and how they stay level.
65:45It's hard to argue with Jamar Chase's hands, including the touchdown last week.
65:49The route running is second to none for sure.
65:52Let's talk a little Jets. Lions are 6.5 points favorites here.
65:56Total 47.5 Lions do have extended rest. see if they get a little healthier.
66:00Although they lost another defensive back in Vontae Maddox.
66:04Jets dealing with a couple of injuries coming off of an overtime loss now headed on the road.
66:10Doug, you like the over here? Over 47? I think so.
66:13Yeah. I mean, obviously the injuries to the O-line here and there, but I think Detroit's defense is a giant liability.
66:20And I think they just have to win shootouts.
66:23And I do think the Jets offense, I know, look, I'm not a Geno fan at all, but I knew he'd be fine in the opener.
66:32Like, that Raiders offensive line was so bad last year, right?
66:36No one could have played well. So I think the offense can do some things.
66:41Obviously the weather was really bad last week, and that contributed to why their offense wasn't clicking per se.
66:48I think with this defense, I think the Lions are going to hum too.
66:52I was impressed, honestly, with the garbage touchdown. Fourth and 18 conversion, goffed it to the sideline against Buffalo, down 17.
66:59They covered the second half line with that backdoor touchdown to lose by 10.
67:04But I think they can move the ball, and I think Gibbs is a huge weapon.
67:10I mean, I think they're going to just try to outscore teams.
67:14I think we see a track meet here. And a lot of my totals I'm relaying is like a sharp group I've talked to are oddsmakers.
67:22So it's coming from elsewhere as well. I disagree on this one.
67:26I'm not playing the under, but I would lean under.
67:30I think that because of the secondary injuries on Detroit, they're going to play a ton of coverage, keep everything in front of them.
67:38It's going to create longer drives. I think the Jets profiles and under team, they're going to rely on their defense.
67:45They're conservative. Glenn's way too conservative. You also have some Aaron Glenn familiarity here.
67:50I was going to ask you what's your take on that.
67:53Former DC, obviously. I'm curious to see how you have to dial up interior pressure and interior blitzes against golf.
68:00He knows the weaknesses and strengths of that offense and those players.
68:04That could factor into the game plan here. I just think the Jets are a pure under team.
68:10The Lions are a pure over team. It's a pass for me.
68:14At seven, I'd probably play the Jets small, but it's a good bounce-back spot for the Lions.
68:20It's probably a pass for me. Browns Panthers are a two-and-a-half point road favorite at Cleveland.
68:26Total 42-and-a-half. I love the under year. I'll tell you why.
68:29The Panthers offense looked incredible. They're passing a lot.
68:32A ton over expectation, especially compared to last year.
68:35They're playing fast. All those things lead to you to believe, all right, this scoring is going to keep up.
68:42Look, it's two games. They played the Bears defense and the Falcons defense.
68:47This is still Bryce Young. Then you have Deshaun Watson at his best game in years last week.
68:53Now, the week after that, I'm getting the fade.
68:56This total opened at 40, that's what I'm making up.
68:59It's up to 42-and-a-half through 41 through 42. I think this is a good under spot.
69:05Here's a couple other reasons why. It's road Bryce Young to historically be much worse on the road, but the Browns still
69:12can't run the ball, and the Browns defense is still a different animal at home.
69:17It's their first home game, and they were much more structured last week in their new scheme, and they played much more man, which they need to do.
69:27It's a man defense at heart. I think that's beneficial here.
69:30And Bryce Young, way worse against man. I mean, you look, and this year he has a 40% completion rate, 4.4 yards
69:38per attempt against man, and he's only seen it 20% of the snaps.
69:42The Browns played man 60% of the snaps last week.
69:46I mean, you look, versus zone against Atlanta, Bryce Young, 0.54 EPA per drop back against man, minus 1.116.
69:52He averaged 11.5 yards per attempt versus zone, 3.
69:55Versus man. Same story against the Bears. And you go back to last year, same story, man versus zone.
70:01So you're going to get a ton of man here from the Browns, which is beneficial.
70:07And this is still Deshaun Watson. It's going to be, I mean, his average depth of target, he had one deep shot.
70:14It's going to be dink, dunk, dink, dunk. This is still Deshaun Watson versus Bryce Young, and the Browns defense at home.
70:22Browns unders, Browns, home Cleveland unders since 2003, 108, 76, and 3, 59%, 14% ROI, the best in the league by far.
70:29And if you just look over the past five years, 60% Cleveland unders going under by about two points per game.
70:36And I think this total is about two points too high.
70:40And another thing to keep in mind, the Panthers' average starting field position this year is the 43.5-yard line.
70:46You go back to the Bears game, there was turnovers.
70:50Punt, muffed punt. Yeah, muffed punt. They kept kicking.
70:53Santos was kicking it out of bounds a couple times.
70:56And then last week you had Cooper Rush and the Strand party turning it over every other play.
71:02So yeah, their offense has been explosive and they're passing on more and they're going faster.
71:08But they've started at the midfield and they've played bad defenses.
71:11Cleveland at home, much tougher test. So I think this is like a 20-17 type game.
71:17I agree. The Sharp group I mentioned, they also like this under as well.
71:22They bet it. But the market, to your point, has moved.
71:25I think we need to pump the brakes a little bit on this Panthers offense, to your point about the average start of field position, who they faced.
71:35I am taking the Panthers here. This is a bet against Cleveland more more than it's a bet on anyone.
71:42A lot of these dysfunctional organizations, bad teams, they don't know how to handle success.
71:47We talked about, you heard the coach all mad at what Tomlin said, Browns being Browns.
71:52He rallied the guys or whatever. We think we're going to get a good effort out of the Chargers.
71:59The flip side of this is, can teams handle wins?
72:02Do they go back and grind all week practicing?
72:05I know they're professionals. I just don't think this is a buttoned up organization.
72:10I don't think they're going to put their best foot forward this week off a win.
72:15I don't think they're capable of it. I think they're inept.
72:19I don't love the play. I dislike the card.
72:22I do like my money line play. I probably should have taken the points with the money line dog.
72:28This is my second or third favorite of a card I don't like.
72:33I think it's just the bet against the Browns.
72:36I say this a lot. I said it last week.
72:39If they beat me, I won't feel stupid for betting against them.
72:43Some bets are like, I'm going to feel so dumb if I lose this.
72:48Laying 28 and a half in a college game where you just don't love it.
72:53I won't feel dumb laying under three against the Browns.
72:56I just think they're that inept. I'm curious to see the crowd dynamic in this game.
73:02If Watson does a pick early, does the crowd turn on them and then is Watson pressing?
73:08That should be fascinating to watch. I like the underdog is going with the Panthers minus two and a half.
73:14Finally, Raiders Saints. I think we're head to head on this one.
73:18Under 40, a total below 44, I like the over.
73:2244 being a key. It's gone up to 44, 44 and a half and then it's been bought back.
73:28There's resistance here. Here's why I like the over.
73:31The Raiders are much more professional offense under Kubiak.
73:34It's night and day. Their offensive line is the most improved in the league.
73:39You had Linderbaum, Colton Miller is healthy. They're number one in pass block win rate.
73:44Kubiak and Denison just revamped that entire unit. The difference between the staff last year and the staff this year is astronomical.
73:52Bowers should be back, their best weapon. The Saints are going to play fast.
73:56I don't think the Raiders' defense is any good.
73:59The Raiders have played the Dolphins and the Chargers, the two most dysfunctional offenses in the league right now.
74:06A lot of those guys are very veteran defense, especially in the front seven are still there.
74:12I think he can scheme some stuff up. You'll get the pace with the Saints.
74:17I think both offenses can move the ball inside in the dome, total under 44.
74:22Give me the over. You like the under here, though.
74:25Yeah, but I'm a little torn because last week I said I talked to a sharp odds maker.
74:31He said the two plays that really resonated with them was the over on that Thursday night game with the Bills and
74:39Lions, and the second game was the Cardinals, and I actually went against it.
74:43Same odds maker told me this week they like the Falcons, but I think that got bet already like the market's down.
74:51It's not like they like the Falcons at this current.
74:54The other was the over in this game. Sharp money, really respected money is coming on the over.
75:00I've talked to other groups that like the under.
75:03It's fascinating when you have sharp groups that are really respected over the years.
75:08You'll see this go from 43 and a half to 44, 41, and then back down.
75:13I think that's the back and forth of these groups, right?
75:17And it's around the key of 44, so once it goes to 40, someone's saying, I like the under 44.
75:24So I was looking at New Orleans, but the fact that it's an afternoon game does help the West Coast team a little bit.
75:32Bowers returning helps. We just don't know if the Raiders are how good they are, right?
75:37Just because they had a five and a half win total doesn't mean they're definitely a bad team.
75:44We've seen teams that make the playoffs even. Who knows, right?
75:47They're so buttoned up and we just don't know because they've played some poor competition.
75:52But I don't think they're going to win the division or anything, but they may be pretty good.
75:58And the Saints team starts slow, so I was torn there on the side.
76:03I really wanted to lay two and a half just because, like I talked about with the Browns, can the Raiders handle back-to-back wins?
76:11Like I said going into last week, they were just dumb enough to think that they're better than the chart, right?
76:18They're young and dumb. Now it's like, all right, you got two wins.
76:23Can you go across the country and kind of handle it all?
76:27I don't know. So the under, I just think that they're not going to click that much.
76:33And I think... I mean, you can make the case that the Raiders offense will not look...
76:38Like, has only benefited because the Chargers defense is in disarray and the Dolphins don't have professional defense.
76:44I mean, Cousins still threw two picks against the Dolphins.
76:48I mean, and they're bad throws. He played better against the Raiders.
76:52But they've... I mean, there was that one highlight where going up to the line of scrimmage and under center, Cousins is turning to his running back.
77:01It wasn't Chenty. And he's pretending to tell them what the plays are in sort of like a likely run situation but not an automatic.
77:10And like, they did a play action and the entire Chargers defense bid on it in a wide open for a long pass.
77:17So, they were just playing bad teams. And we'll see.
77:21But I will say, but they have looked... Their offensive line is way better and they are way better coached.
77:27And they've been doing without Bowers. So, like, it's definitely a way better offense.
77:32Right. And the Saints are slow starters. They've been terrible in first half.
77:37So, is it like a 10-3 game at half?
77:40Raiders with the lead or something? I don't know.
77:43But the number is kind of low. It should probably be 45.
77:47Not even about breaking the tie. It's just hilarious.
77:50This is my favorite total of the week. So, since 2013, we've only seen two games close under 44 in week three,
77:57where both teams are averaging 25 points per game.
78:00And we've only seen five since 2005. So, like, both offenses look incredible.
78:05You can make exact anything you want of it.
78:08And the fact none of those other five teams are indoors.
78:11So, like, this literally anything can happen. Indoors between two dome teams, basically.
78:16Yeah. So. Let's move on to Sunday night football.
78:19We've got a good one. Rams continue their brutal early season schedule.
78:23I mean, you're in Australia, you come home for a Monday night game, now a short week into altitude.
78:29Denver's home field usually has slightly bigger advantage early in the season.
78:33And, you know, Rams have an older roster, so we'll see how if there's any after effects here.
78:40Rams a two and a half point road favorite total 44 and a half.
78:44This is, I mean, this is all about Puka for me.
78:48It's going to swing the total, the side. There's no news that came out right on him today.
78:54Anyone see anything? All my notes say that they're hopeful he's coming back.
78:58Yeah, he didn't practice today, but so we don't know.
79:02But here's the thing, if Puka, like, this isn't the giant secondary.
79:06And if Puka doesn't play, you put Patrick Sertan on Devontae.
79:10Right. now the Rams have to run it, throw to their tight ends.
79:14But like, if you have Puka out there, it's a, especially against this secondary where they have one corner who for my
79:21money is the best in the sport can take away your top receiver.
79:26So if you have just, you don't have Puka and Adams out there, it's going to completely change this Rams attack.
79:33So I have nothing until we get more news.
79:36I'm right on the number. I make it just hedge with a probability on Puka's playing.
79:41I make it 2.2. So like, nothing for me.
79:45Total, you can find 45s out there. You look, you're, you like the under, Doug?
79:50I mean, I do, but statistically in the trends suggest it's a good play.
79:54It's since 2015 week three with road favorites and a total of 44 or higher unders 75%, 27 and nine.
80:01It does feel like an under, like a playoff sort of vibe.
80:05Denver, we know about the defense. You just touched on it.
80:09Rams, I don't know what to make, right? That Giants defense got loose and Adams was wide open and the turnovers, but
80:16this Rams team is, again, going into week one, I said like their offensive execution of getting to the red zone was like the 07 Patriots.
80:25There had to be some regression and in the opener, whether it was jet lag, but or not Stafford looked every bit of his age.
80:34He looked obviously better, but it was against the Giants defense in week two.
80:38So I think this could be not necessarily a huge rock fight, but kind of like what we saw with Denver and
80:46KC without the total sweat at the end, but it's not going to be a 13-10 game.
80:52So this will be sweaty, but I do think we sneak under the total.
80:56All right, moving on to Monday Night Football, we have the Eagles and Bears.
81:01Bears are four and a half point home dog, total 41 and a half.
81:06I bet on our Sunday show on Discord, we go live, myself, Evan, Sean Kerner, we go live breaking down, recapping the day.
81:14We talk about Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football, make sure you join our Discord if you haven't already.
81:20And I said, I'm playing the Bears plus four and a half.
81:24I don't think it's that they get a drop off from Caleb to Tyson.
81:29And then Tyson, Bajin gets a concussion, so now it might be Case Keenum.
81:33And the line was going towards three, which I thought it would go towards, and now it's back up to four and a half.
81:42We don't know if Bajin's going to play with concussion.
81:45The game is on Monday night, at least. But at four and a half, I'm not buying out.
81:51I don't like it as much, but I'm going to trust Ben Johnson just to scheme up enough with the run game, some easy passes off play action.
82:01This Eagles defense also, it's dominant itself so far this year.
82:04They're not getting pressure. They're dead last in time to pressure rate across the entire league, and they played Washington and Tennessee,
82:12two teams that don't have an offensive line. And the offense is an improved look.
82:17How could it not be compared to last year?
82:20But still too many hit routes. There's no yards after the catch.
82:24And they can't run the ball. I mean, because their interior offensive line is an absolute mess.
82:30Now no Dallas Goddard. They signed Zach Ertz. Yeah, you've got to sign the corpse of Zach Ertz.
82:36Interesting note, the Eagles are the fifth team in NFL history to start 2-0 with no takeaways.
82:41It's only happened four times before. It's pretty crazy.
82:45They barely beat the Titans, and they barely beat the Commanders.
82:48This offense is still figuring itself out. The offensive line is still a mess.
82:53Now the Bears D stinks, but Monday night, give me Ben Johnson to scheme up enough in the run game and keep this.
83:01You're asking this Eagles offense right now, they're still going through droughts.
83:05Without that last-minute touchdown, they lose to the Titans if they knew how to kick off, by the way.
83:11There might not have been time left. Their offense went to the shitter for the whole second half.
83:17The Titans are one of the worst defenses in the NFL.
83:21The interior offensive line is an absolute mess right now.
83:24They cannot run the ball. I'm still going to take the Bears.
83:29I feel great about it now. What are you going to get from Case Keenum?
83:34Ben Johnson we trust. Do you have anything here?
83:37Great minds think alike apparently because Bears were going to be my favorite play of the week.
83:42I think they're definitely a different quarterback but in these situations when you get these mad scientists offensive play callers they actually
83:50love the backup because there's a chance for them to flex and they know what they're getting.
83:56They know the dude's going to make the throw that they need either not going to improvise or try to do too
84:03much and this is where when you just keep it simple stupid right?
84:07The old acronym of KISS these guys love those situations.
84:11Shanahan once made Nick Mullins and CJ Beathard look pretty good right?
84:15When you get these guys who are so advanced with play calling they love it and I think the team's going to
84:22rally around it first game with an injury and all that.
84:26So I am on the dog here in like a pick them league but I just was like and I've always waited
84:34for Bayton to get an opportunity to bet on him.
84:37Case Keenum I don't know if I think he'll be fine like you said I trust Ben Johnson and it's a bet
84:44against the Eagles is a terrible spot and is Saquon good to go?
84:49Like are we fully? I just worry about the Bears defense like Devontae could go out.
84:54I mean how bad is this Bears defense if Bryce Young and company lit them up for what they did?
85:01One player I do like I think has a lot of promise on this Bears defense is Muhammad their rookie corner something to keep an eye on.
85:10Turning good weekends into great weekends. time to move on to our Moneyline underdog parlay presented by DraftKings.
85:16Came up a hair short last week of an 8-1.
85:20Let's try to hit it this week. Doug who are you going with?
85:24I'm going to go with the Colts. The spot definitely says Houston because the Colts are off the lengthy overtime game and
85:31you know we saw the Lions on a short week have a similar situation but they're at home here.
85:38That's the difference and I think there's a giant coaching edge with Houston.
85:42We know Houston's a slow starting team. They were 0-3 last year.
85:46They have no Nico Collins. Who has killed the Colts in the past.
85:51He's a Colts killer. The offenses looked so lost last week against the Bengals.
85:55Yes, the Colts have given up the most yards through two games that we've ever seen in the history but look who they faced.
86:04Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. Okay, it's a very different situation here.
86:08I'm hopeful that the turnaround is, you know, the overtime and everything.
86:12Earlier in the season, they're not as gassed, right?
86:15They haven't played as many games. It's only week three.
86:18I think they'll have enough and I was impressed with Indy all things considered.
86:23Didn't love the fourth down in overtime field goal and frankly, I didn't appreciate the deferring.
86:28But I do think they're better coached here. I think it's the right sort of angle on this game.
86:35That's just how I am seeing it. I probably should have just grabbed the points here but the home dog here and I think got a better.
86:44I'm not sold on the Texans even though I was last week for some reason because they played the bill so well.
86:51I'll take them on the money line here. Texans just they need Nico Connell.
86:56I mean, remember, there's no tank Dell. They also lost the Indians.
87:00Just regressed. I mean, he's just regressed. But they need Nico Collins out there.
87:05He opens up everything. He's one of the best receivers in the NFL.
87:09He's killed the Colts. I'm curious to see if Traverius Ward plays but without Collins, Ward's dealing with a groin injury.
87:16The Colts can man their receivers on the outside with no worry.
87:20Take their pass catchers away and then load the box, stop the run.
87:25And you mentioned the coaching advantage like in-game, aggression, all that favors the Colts.
87:29And the Colts under Stiken are so good in the script.
87:33You script up an opening drive touchdown here. You might need only 17 points to win this game.
87:39I know those totals come down a lot. But they have injuries on offense too.
87:44Pierce. Yeah, there's no Pierce. This totals come down a lot.
87:48I still like the under. This game's going to be played in a box.
87:53The Texans defense is number one in drop back success rate after facing Burrow and Allen.
87:58They've just given up a ton of explosive plays.
88:01There's no Al Pierce. There's not going to be explosive plays from the Colts.
88:06So they can stop everything the Colts are going to do.
88:10The Texans don't have Nico Collins. What are they going to do?
88:14Both teams need this game. 0-2, divisional game, season aligned.
88:17You're not going to make a mistake. You're probably playing a little bit more conservative.
88:22First half under I think is worth a look.
88:25Yeah, this one's going to be very low scoring.
88:28I don't mind the Colts. I don't care. Nico Collins makes just that much of a difference.
88:34I'm going to go with the Steelers here. I like them catching over a field goal.
88:40It's ugly. I know Rodgers has looked horrendous, but he's not gotten much help.
88:44I mean, can DK Metcalf catch a pass? But there's some injury upside here.
88:49Maybe Joey Porter plays. I don't know if he's getting traded or playing or what.
88:54Maybe Michael Pittman is back. But Cincinnati, look, I already mentioned they could have lost to the Bengals.
89:00I mean, excuse me, the Bucs at home in the opener without all those turnovers and fumbles.
89:06And they easily could have lost to the Texans last week without Nico Collins.
89:11I know it was 20-6. They were out gained 374-260.
89:14The Texans just were shooting themselves in the foot, dumb coaching decisions.
89:18So they easily could be 0-2 here. Going to Pittsburgh, that defense is legit.
89:23The defensive front can create pressure in the interior, give the Bengals offensive line problems.
89:28But here's why I really like it. I mean, I make it slightly under three.
89:33But the Bengals cannot cover 12 personnel. Last year, they were worse than NFL history.
89:38They allowed 6.2 yards per play, dead last in EPA per play, dead last in EPA per pass out of that.
89:45No one runs it more than the Steelers. They're going to have two tight ends on the field, a ton.
89:52And what happens is the Bengals have, their linebackers can't cover.
89:56And then if you go to tight ends, their nickel can't play the run, so then they have to bring in a
90:03third line, and their linebackers are really bad. Their safeties aren't great.
90:07So you can just, now look, the Bengals defensive line is significantly improved.
90:12I mean, Murphy's been great. Boy, Mathay is top five in edge pressure rate.
90:16And then Dexter Lawrence, huge difference. Just go watch any Bengals game.
90:20Their run defense now is so much better than in the field.
90:24But they still cannot cover tight ends. I mean, look last week, and I don't know why this is more Texans coaching now practice.
90:33The Texans only ran 12 personnel like 8% of the time last week.
90:37Nico Collins wasn't playing. And by the way, they only play, were playing with one tight end.
90:43And Dalton Schultz had like 40 catches. So they can just throw to their tight ends here, get the ball out quick.
90:50Defense can make some plays, get to Burrow. This Bengals offense still kind of finding its footing.
90:56So I think that this is a decent matchup for the Steelers.
91:00Give me some of it. We'll see if the home voodoo would have come.
91:05Pros versus Joes. You're right, you're right. The voodoo, yeah.
91:08Tomlin's not there, but this is the classic Steelers game where they win after looking terrible at home.
91:14They get the fluke. The Ravens would lose these games where they're so much better because they'd fumble a bunch.
91:21I think this could be a voodoo game where the Steelers certainly win.
91:25I mean, it's going to be pros versus Joes.
91:28And I always text you my favorite prop. It's Friermuth over 34 and a half receiving yards because yeah, they just can't cover tight ends, right?
91:3712 catches for Schultz last week, buck 40. And then Kate Otten was good even though like seven, you know, six or seven guys got looks.
91:46He had three catches. He had some drops too.
91:49He should have had more. Yeah, he had five targets, right?
91:53So 34 and a half for Friermuth which is such a safety valve.
91:57And I mean, it's like, Aaron Rodgers is old, right?
92:01He wants to get rid of the ball. And the Bengals pass rush is better this year.
92:06Right. So it could be one of those things where the play call is early, they break the pocket, sorry, they break
92:14the huddle and then he's just going to read the defense pre-snap.
92:18So this could be a game where Rodgers just, you know, taps into his brain and just outsmarts him.
92:24Yep. All right, DraftKings underdog money line parlay of the week pays, we have the Colts and the Steelers pays plus 475 at DraftKings.
92:32Steelers have been running a lot of cover for, which Burrow was shredded in the past, but I trust Graham, really like
92:40him as a coordinator to switch things up here.
92:43So we're going with the Colts and the Steelers at close to 5-1.
92:47All right, time for the teaser of the week.
92:50Bucks ruined it for me last week. This week, I think Titans make sense.
92:55Low total. A lot of injuries on the Giants side.
92:58They can keep this within a possession. They could win, right?
93:02Yeah, they could easily win this game. Broncos too.
93:05I don't think Buka's going to play. And then they can put Pat on Adams.
93:10This will be, like you said, a lower scoring game.
93:14So give me the Broncos over 8 and the Titans over 8.
93:18All right, so it's time to summarize our picks.
93:21My favorite bet to kick things off, Tampa Bay plus 1.5.
93:24Doug went with San Francisco minus 8.5. Evan went with Jacksonville minus 2.5.
93:29We have three more to get to. I'm going to throw Baltimore in.
93:33We'll call it 3.5. That's what it is at DraftKings right now.
93:37And then I'm going to throw in Pittsburgh. Just talked about it seconds ago.
93:42Not Jacksonville? No, Evan took Jacksonville. Oh, okay, sorry.
93:45Yeah, that's right. I would have taken Jacksonville. So we have Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Tampa.
93:50Evan has Jacksonville, which I agree with. You have San Francisco.
93:54And one more to make it a six-pack. You had one you already talked about.
93:59You also mentioned maybe you'll go with the Colts.
94:02Who are you going to go with? I'm okay with Carolina.
94:06I'm okay with Carolina. I'll stick with my original.
94:09Road favor. What could go wrong? Carolina. All right.
94:12That's it. Our six-pack is Carolina, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, San Francisco, and Jacksonville.
94:17And for our contest, we'll put the five in Sands, Jacksonville, which is Evan's pick, but I really do like that one.
94:24That would have been one of mine. So easy peasy.
94:27Another six and a week, right? Yeah. No sweat.
94:30Let's do it. Thanks to Doug for joining me.
94:34Thanks to Evan, as always. Evan, I guess, did you have one more fun nugget you wanted to drop from any of the games we just ran through?
94:43My favorite nugget of the week, and honestly, it made it more fun based off line movement, but the Jets total is down to 47 and a half.
94:52The Jets haven't entered a game with an over under of 48 or more since November of 2021.
94:59A total of 78 games. That is the longest active streak and also the longest streak for any team since 2010.
95:06And now the total is 47 and a half, so it's looking like that streak will go another week.
95:122010, was that the Bears? Was it the Bears streak?
95:15It's just like I chose that as a landing mark because at that point totals were so low that it was just so often.
95:24But based off the fact that we haven't seen a good Jets quarterback, we really think Geno's going to get there at
95:31some point, but it may not be this week.
95:34And I thought it was the Lions secondary. Thought we get there.
95:38Bears? We really didn't talk about it. There's a lot of weather.
95:42Nor'easter. There's a lot of weather elements this week.
95:45Yeah, we're getting into the fall. We will start to cover weather elements.
95:50We'll record this on a Wednesday, so it's a little more difficult.
95:54But we will mention those games. Having anything pop up as urgent in that department?
95:59Oh, yeah. Giants and Tennessee. There's a chance of wind and rain.
96:03Washington. In my primer, I have a chaos rating that just takes into effect wind and rain and all that crap.
96:10Those are the two games at the top. Maybe Cincinnati Pittsburgh, but those are definitely two.
96:15Yeah, by the way, the Washington, if there's weather impact, you can't run on Seattle.
96:20They can't run the ball. No good. That is not good news for Washington.
96:25In the Tampa game, I think in the afternoon, which is when the game is, a lot of afternoon games on Sunday,
96:33it's supposed to be pretty bad, but to your point, it's only Wednesday.
96:37That can easily change. Just no more lightning delays.
96:40Why do we have these lightnings? Does anyone ever get struck by lightning?
96:44It's never happened. It's crazy. I remember there was a game in the 80s.
96:49I was watching a clip of it, and there was a lightning strike, an NFL game.
96:55There was a lightning strike in the stands, and the announcers like, oh, look at that lightning.
97:00First in 10 here. Do all the fans just go in the concourse and hang out?
97:06It's the same. It changes games. We saw it in college this past week.
97:11It changed the Clemson-UNC game. It changed the Alabama-Florida state game.
97:14Anyway, I'll stop rambling. That'll do it for us.
97:17Thanks to Doug for joining me. Thanks to Evan.
