Blake Corum

NegativeUsage12:00

Blake Corum hasn't looked fantastic at points this season. The Rams are running five tight ends and trying different things offensively, with Kyron taking a bulk of the loaded points, suggesting Corum's role and production have been inconsistent.

Insight page

Brock Bowers

PositiveProjection45:00

After returning from meniscus surgery with only a two-week absence, Bowers posted 10 catches, 116 yards, and a touchdown on 13 targets in his first game back, finishing as tight end 17 in fantasy scoring. The source notes this is comparable to Jackson Smith-Njigba's target and yardage share in Seattle last year (JSN had 36% of targets and 44% of yards in week three; Bowers had 42% of targets and 47% of yards), suggesting Kubiak is building the entire offense around him despite limited receiving weapons on the Raiders roster.

Insight page
PositiveValue48:00

The source identifies Bowers to finish as the top fantasy tight end at 11% in prediction markets (roughly 8-to-1 odds) as a strong buy. With Bowers already at tight end 17 after one game and Trey McBride at 26% (halfway there in two-touchdown comparison), the source believes Bowers can catch McBride despite McBride's two-game head start, especially if McBride misses time or gets shut down late in the season.

Insight page
PositiveProjection49:00

Bowers' points-per-game over/under is set at 14 PPR points; he scored 27.6 in his first game back. The source notes this metric is valuable because it doesn't require a full season of health—even if Bowers plays limited snaps or gets injured again, the per-game average can still be hit. Last year he averaged 14.7 PPR points despite being hurt all season, and as a rookie he averaged 15.5, both exceeding the current 14-point line.

Insight page
PositiveRole49:00

Bowers is being deployed across the field by Kubiak—16 snaps in the slot, 16 out wide, 7 in line with a 9.3 average depth of target—and is mostly splitting out wide against corners rather than playing traditional tight end (only 9 snaps as a traditional tight end, no receptions in that role). The source emphasizes he is 'the man' and will be 'all over the place' because the Raiders lack other receiving weapons, particularly after Betch got hurt.

Insight page
NegativeRole51:00

The source notes a potential downside: when Fernando Mendoza eventually takes over at quarterback for Kirk Cousins, there is uncertainty about whether Mendoza will target Bowers as frequently. However, the source mitigates this concern by noting that Cousins loves throwing to tight ends and Kubiak will force Mendoza to target the tight end position; additionally, rookie quarterbacks often lock onto one receiver, and Bowers is the clear target. The source also notes both Cousins and Mendoza 'feel like nerds' and should get along, and Mendoza's 'happy feet' from the preseason may actually help Bowers.

Insight page

Brock Purdy

NegativeMatchup32:00

Brock Purdy has 56 career starts and has never faced Denver's defense. In his last three starts against Seattle, two of those three were his fourth and sixth worst success rate performances in terms of passing. The source notes these are unbelievable defenses he'll face in back-to-back weeks (Denver and Seattle in Weeks 5-6), and his historical struggles against Seattle are a concern.

Insight page

C.J. Stroud

NegativeProjection13:09

CJ Stroud and the Texans offense have struggled to start the season at 0-3. While it's easy to make fun of the offense and Stroud, the source notes the numbers say the offense has been only a little below average, not as bad as it sounds. However, the real problem is the defense isn't as good as expected either, with predictability and corner play being issues.

Insight page

Case Keenum

PositiveProjection2:41

Case Keenum lit up the Eagles defense in Week 4, playing mistake-free football with a coach-on-the-field effect that calmed the entire offense. The Eagles were one inch and one second away from a 34-0 shutout, with Keenum's performance being a key factor in the competitive nature of the game despite the Eagles' overall dominance in yardage.

Insight page

Colston Loveland

NegativeUsage3:37

Colston Loveland was involved in a controversial play against the Eagles where a touchdown was negated; the source notes they were one inch and one second away from a 34-0 shutout, with Loveland's play being part of the Eagles' near-shutout scenario.

Insight page

Dalton Kincaid

PositiveRole26:00

Dalton Kincaid continues to be awesome for the Bills, part of an offense that is top-three in both running and passing under Joe Brady. The source notes that when an offense is this good, you can live with a mediocre defense, and Kincaid is a key component of that elite offensive output.

Insight page

Dalton Schultz

PositiveValue2:09

Brandon Anderson credited Dalton Schultz with clearing off his losses from the previous week, indicating strong recent performance that helped recover from a rough betting weekend.

Insight page

David Montgomery

PositiveUsage13:09

David Montgomery looked fantastic for the Texans in Week 1, but the source notes that Week 2 and 3 have been a complete different story. The Texans' advanced numbers in weeks two and three show they're 27th in success rate and 29th in EPA, suggesting Montgomery's production has declined significantly.

Insight page

Deebo Samuel

NegativeDepth Chart31:00

The 49ers' receiving corps is down to Debo Samuel and a bunch of unproven depth pieces, with multiple injuries stacking up. The source notes that even in deep fantasy leagues, these backup receivers wouldn't be drafted, highlighting the injury crisis at the position.

Insight page

Derek Carr

NegativeUsage40:00

Derek Carr and the Raiders offense have been terrible running the ball, posting a 31% success rate rushing the football against the Dolphins, Chargers, and Saints—bottom-five competition. The source notes this is outright bad and would likely be worst in the league if measured against better competition.

Insight page

Fernando Mendoza

NegativeProjection44:00

The source states that when Fernando Mendoza enters the game (expected soon given the Raiders' brutal upcoming schedule), a rookie quarterback will 'lower your ceiling' for the Raiders offense. The source likes Mendoza long-term but emphasizes that his arrival will result in more losses for the team.

Insight page

Jordan Mason

NegativeInjury35:00

The Vikings have lost two games of Jordan Mason through three weeks due to injury, part of a mounting injury crisis affecting the offense.

Insight page

Josh Allen

PositiveProjection24:00

Josh Allen delivered an MVP-caliber performance in the Bills' win over the Chargers, including a late-game fourth-and-seven scramble where he stayed up and flipped the ball to Ty Johnson for what would have been a touchdown (called back for a first down). The source notes Allen 'does the other Josh Allen stuff' by saving games with his legs and creativity, even when he's making mistakes early. This demonstrates the margin for error the Bills' offense now has under Joe Brady.

Insight page

Josh Oliver

NegativeInjury35:00

Josh Oliver, an awesome blocking tight end and big part of the Vikings' run blocking scheme who is basically a starter for them, has been lost to injury. The source notes this is a significant loss for the run game.

Insight page

Justin Jefferson

NegativeInjury35:00

The Vikings have lost one game of Justin Jefferson through three weeks due to injury. The source notes this is part of a broader injury crisis affecting the Vikings' offense, which has failed to crack 250 yards in all three games.

Insight page

Kenneth Walker III

PositiveUsage21:00

Kenneth Walker was everywhere in the Colts' Week 1 win over Denver, part of a dominant offensive performance where the Colts doubled up Denver in yardage and first downs.

Insight page

Kirk Cousins

NegativeProjection44:00

Kirk Cousins is tied for the league lead in passing touchdowns through week 3, but the source frames this in the context of the Raiders' deteriorating schedule and overall team weakness. The source suggests that while Cousins has had early success, the Raiders' upcoming schedule (Chiefs, Patriots, Bills, Rams, Jets, 49ers, Seahawks, Broncos) will likely result in losses, and Cousins will eventually be replaced by rookie Fernando Mendoza, which will lower the team's ceiling.

Insight page

Kyler Murray

NegativeInjury35:00

The Vikings have effectively lost two games of Kyler Murray so far through three weeks due to his absence or limited availability. The source notes that there's no proof the Vikings' offensive system works with Kyler healthy, and the offense has been really bad without him.

Insight page

Matthew Stafford

NegativeProjection9:00

Matthew Stafford threw a pick-six in the end zone against Denver in Week 3 after the Rams nearly won despite giving up two touchdowns, two-point conversions, and that pick-six. Brandon Anderson notes MVP is probably already gone for Stafford due to the Rams' 1-2 start and inconsistent performance.

Insight page

Nico Collins

NegativeInjury13:09

Nico Collins is out for the Texans and his absence is critical to their offensive struggles. The source emphasizes that without Nico Collins, the Texans are just an absolute different team, and putting him back into the lineup could make Houston look a lot different. His injury is a major factor in the team's 0-3 start.

Insight page

Patrick Mahomes

PositiveProjection21:00

The source projects Mahomes at 9-1 MVP odds, suggesting strong upside despite coming off a torn ACL and being in a new offensive system with a revamped line and new cornerbacks. The source believes the Chiefs are top-six DVOA on both offense and defense through three weeks, indicating Mahomes is performing well in the early-season window.

Insight page

Puka Nacua

NegativeInjury7:09

Puka Nakua has not played this season due to injury. The Rams are operating without him, which impacts their offensive capabilities. Brandon Anderson notes the Rams are doing this without Puka and suggests his absence is a significant factor in their performance, with MVP and Offensive Player of the Year awards now likely out of reach for Nakua.

Insight page

Trey McBride

NegativeProjection48:00

Trey McBride is currently favored to finish as the top fantasy tight end at 26% in prediction markets. The source uses McBride as a comparison point for Bowers, noting that Bowers is already halfway to McBride's odds despite having only one game of stats and McBride having a two-game head start.

Insight page

Ty Johnson

PositiveUsage24:00

Ty Johnson was the target on a crucial late-game scramble by Josh Allen in the Bills' win over the Chargers, receiving a flip on fourth-and-seven near midfield that went for what would have been a touchdown (called back for a first down).

Insight page

Tyler Higbee

PositiveProjection5:33

Tyler Higbee lit up the Denver Broncos defense in Week 3, stepping in after Ferguson got hurt. The source notes this was unexpected, as Ferguson was supposed to be the primary target, but Higbee delivered strong production against a defense that looked dominant in the first half.

1:56How are you, man? I'm good, man. We're three weeks in.
1:59I'm a little better today than I was on Sunday.
2:02Took it on the chin a couple of times on Sunday.
2:06I think a lot of folks had a rough weekend betting.
2:09So not my best outing. Thankful for Dalton Schultz to kind of clear off my losses from the weekend from the previous week.
2:16But it was a heck of a day of football, though.
2:20Like, it was not fun for me as a batter.
2:23But 12 one-score game, just close, fun games all the way.
2:26I live in Chicagoland. As you know, I was at a Bears watch party last night.
2:31I didn't think it was going to be a very close, competitive game going in.
2:36I was right, but the wrong direction. It was a pretty fun watch party to be at.
2:41Case Keenum just lighting it up out here on the Eagles.
2:44So it's been a fun season so far. Yeah, Case Keenum joining list with Drew Brees and Tom Brady.
2:50Not something we expected against the Eagles defense. But here we are.
2:54All right, let's move to market movers. We're going to go through some questions.
2:58Buy or sell. Are you buying this? Are you buying or selling?
3:02What are you buying? You want to sell? Buy it!
3:05Time to sell us right now. We'll start with the one at the top here, which feels like a storyline so far this season.
3:13So QBs just don't matter anymore, which is just a funny line in itself.
3:17But non-week one starters are 6-0 straight up so far this season.
3:21Stat came out from ESPN today. I saw it in a bunch of different places.
3:25Even using my data, like backup quarterbacks so far this season, 5-2 straight up and against the spread.
3:31So it's definitely been a theme so far. So what do you make?
3:35Buy or sell? QBs just don't matter. I mean, you know I'm going to sell.
3:39QBs don't matter. Of course. It's a fun thing to talk about at the top.
3:44Keenum was awesome last night. I don't know if it was just where we're at, but the audio on Keenum was so loud.
3:51I felt like we were hearing him like, you know, we got the mic over here.
3:56There's the Sam. All right. We're good. We're good.
3:59And then the snap. It's like just calming everybody down.
4:02The whole offense, like the coach on the field effect, just played some mistake-free football.
4:07And so that game last night, that was ugly for Philadelphia.
4:10You're about one inch and one second away from a 34-0 shutout.
4:14One second and a half time on the only touchdown they got.
4:17If a second. And an inch away in that Loveland touchdown that ended up being nothing for them.
4:23So pretty alarming for the Eagles. Pretty good for Keenum.
4:26So you mentioned the sixth quarterback, 6-0. Here they are.
4:29Keenum, Penix, Mariota, and Jameis this week, 4-0. Carson Wentz, my guy, and Drew Locke last week.
4:34So let's go through the list. The Eagles are fraudulent.
4:38Should probably be 1-2. Maybe even 0-3. So that's the best one.
4:41That's Case Keenum. Penix is the real starter. So replacing Cooper Rush, congratulations on that.
4:46That doesn't count. The Commanders got crushed by the Seahawks.
4:4931 or 33% to 51% success rate. Almost 200 yards more for Seattle.
4:53Just four turnovers. Just one of those wonky ones.
4:56Evan, you and I used to do the Sunday night recap.
4:59We would have brushed this one off so fast as just looking at what that game was.
5:04But you know, it's football. It's how it goes.
5:07Jameis and Locke, they beat Tennessee and Arizona. Congratulations on beating those teams.
5:11And then my guy, Carson, he went on a monsoon.
5:14In Chicago, under 250 yards. Fumble at the one.
5:17Block field goal. Look, it's football. This stuff happens.
5:20But here's the takeaway for me. I think we collectively still overreact a little bit to the downgrade at quarterback in a game.
5:27For one game, I think for most of these quarterbacks, especially the way coaches have gotten so good at coaching around it,
5:34especially as we've gotten more and more guys that can just kind of follow the script, I think the quarterback downgrade is
5:41maybe only worth a couple points to spread in most scenarios.
5:44Not for Josh Allen. Not for Patrick Mahomes. Not for those guys.
5:48But there's not a lot of those guys anymore.
5:51So, we know this. But to remind you, it's usually profitable to bet on the backup quarterback.
5:56At least in the first game. We hit Bears plus five last night.
6:00It's a good spot for that quarterback. Long term, quarterbacks matter.
6:03I don't need Carson Wentz in my life all season.
6:06I don't need Case Keenum leading the Bears offense all season.
6:10Long term, it matters. Post season, it matters. Look around the league.
6:13Look at the Patriots. Look at the Chargers. Look at the Eagles.
6:17You got franchise quarterbacks stinking right now. And you got teams stinking right now because of it.
6:22So, quarterbacks matter. Backup quarterbacks, they're doing all right out here.
6:26That's what I think. Yeah, I think it's two different things.
6:29NFL teams aren't trying to cover games as much as some people may think differently than that.
6:34So, I think some bad quarterbacks and a lot of bad quarterbacks sometimes cover games.
6:39So, that is a completely different statistic than trying to actually win a game with a backup.
6:44And I agree. I think sometimes at first game, it happens when stars are out in the NBA.
6:50Like, there is a jump initially for some of these teams when their stars are out in big positions.
6:56And then after a while, it kind of comes back to the mean and teams tend to, you know, not perform as well.
7:03So, quarterback, very important. And, you know, me and Sean Koerner put out this QB list of like, you know, who's most valuable to the position, right?
7:11Like, the backup quarterback, one of the most important positions in the NFL.
7:15And, you know, this week we're about to see what Jalen Daniels does for Tampa Bay.
7:20So, all right. Let's move to question number two here.
7:23Buy or sell? The Rams are in serious trouble at one and two.
7:27I was just curious. So, I pulled a statistic or two just to kind of set us up here.
7:33So, 13 teams have closed at five to one odds or shorter to win the Super Bowl during a season.
7:39And they were under 500 through three games. So, 13 teams.
7:43Six of those made the playoffs. One made the Super Bowl.
7:4693-94 Cowboys. Like, obviously, whatever. Tons of different circumstances.
7:49Tons of noise. Different teams. But, interesting enough, it is a little bit difficult to overcome this, especially when things don't start so fast early.
7:57So, what do you make of the Rams? Yeah.
7:59I mean, those are not great odds. You don't want to be basically 50-50 to make the playoffs at this point and
8:06nearly drawing dead to get to the Super Bowl based on, you know, a small sample.
8:11But, not a sample you want to be part of based on the numbers you just heard.
8:16This particular game, not a huge concern. They nearly doubled the yardage against Denver.
8:21Six yards a play almost. 82 plays on the field.
8:24And that's no Pukunakua. Where we came in saying, okay, well, Sertan's going to cover Devontae Adams.
8:29Nope. He's still all over the field. And you just have a completely different.
8:33We got Tyler Higby lighting up the Denver Broncos defense.
8:37It was supposed to be Ferguson. And then he gets hurt.
8:40So, just, sure, let's put in Tyler Higby back in.
8:43And then have him do the thing. The defense looked dominant in the first half.
8:48This was what the Rams were supposed to be.
8:50Then Denver gets going. And you give up two touchdowns and two point conversions and a pick six.
8:56And still almost won. You give the Rams probably like two more plays.
9:00They probably get there. Instead, Stafford has to throw it up.
9:03And you get picked off in the end zone.
9:06So, look. Again, you didn't win. I know you can do almost on everything.
9:11The results matter. But my opinion on the Rams overall, I don't think it's really been moved that much.
9:16Week one in Australia, we know about just kind of the weirdness of that game.
9:21They demolished the Giants. They looked just as good for half against the Broncos.
9:25If you look at the NFC, big picture. The Eagles lost last night.
9:29The Seahawks lost on Sunday. That was the big upset.
9:32But who are the Rams meaningfully behind right now, even at one and two?
9:37I'd say just the Niners, to be honest. And they are meaningfully behind them because they lost the head-to-head.
9:43But I think they're still in fine shape. And they're doing this without Puka.
9:47They're doing this without Myles Garrett. Basically hasn't played at all this season, really.
9:51And I think they'll be all right. So, coming up, we go at Philly and then Buffalo.
9:57So, I think even one and one, you're probably still okay in there.
10:01You can't go in two. You can't get to one and four.
10:04Then you're going to be in that bad group, Evan, that you talked about.
10:09But I think you're okay. But big picture, at FTN, the Rams are projected now at 9.8 wins.
10:14That's not a number this team was thinking about coming into the season.
10:18They have them 11% to win the division over there.
10:2111% is not what people thought in September for a team this loaded.
10:25I think the Rams are probably fine. I think you bet them game to game fine.
10:30The margin for error is shrinking. I think MVP is probably already gone for Stafford.
10:35I think Offensive Player of the Year is probably gone for Nakua.
10:39Defensive Player of the Year is definitely gone for Garrett.
10:42All these things. We thought the Rams maybe could just sweep everything and be this incredible team.
10:47I think that's gone. I think they can still be really good.
10:51But they're going to have to be really good just to make the playoffs and then be really good in the playoffs
10:57on the road, the way things are setting up right now.
11:01So they're good enough. But they're like a top five team now.
11:05And they do have a hole that they've built.
11:07So I'm not out. But I'm not necessarily in all the way either.
11:11And those FTN numbers to me are interesting because obviously they're like minus three on the road in Philly this week.
11:18You said the game against Buffalo next week, which they're also about a three-point favorite.
11:22But to me, I don't really make them 54%, 55%, whatever, minus three, both games work it together.
11:28I just think they're coin flips. So I think like they – I was going to say they could easily start one and four.
11:35Like it really depends on what you feel about Philly.
11:39Really feel about Philly. But Philly is at home in this situation.
11:42They are off a loss, like both on the same situation.
11:46And then you got Buffalo, which could easily win a road game on the West Coast.
11:51So I just think I'm at a real pause here when it comes to the Rams.
11:56I don't love what I've seen so far. And I think no Puka makes their offense just a little bit easier.
12:02And, you know, Blake Corum hasn't looked fantastic at points.
12:05Kyron's taking a bulk of a loaded points. They're running five tight ends.
12:09Like I just think that they're still trying things.
12:12And I think there's more complete teams at the moment.
12:15So I'm in wait and see mode. All right.
12:18Last one at the top here. Got to talk about the Texans.
12:22So the Texans still aren't dead and are worth the future.
12:25It's a real buy-sell question. So you can give us the numbers.
12:29I'll show you what I found, which 33 teams enter the season at 20 to 1 or shorter Super Bowl odds and start 0-3.
12:36One made the playoffs. And that's obvious. No one makes the playoffs at 0-3.
12:40And it was the 2018 Texans. The interesting thing to me is 10 of those 33 teams got to eight wins.
12:47So that really gives you like a perspective of like getting back into the field.
12:52So you yourself, you got Dallas this week at home, about a two and a half point favorite.
12:57What do you make of the Texans? Yeah, it's a tough one on the Texans because you don't want to be 0-3
13:04and you know all the numbers about 0-3. But then you're like, oh, nobody ever gets 0-3 to the playoffs.
13:10Look, except the Texans. Except the Texans last year and except the Texans the other time.
13:15So it's just the Texans that do it, who just keep on digging this hole and keep digging out of it.
13:21That doesn't necessarily mean it's going to happen again, though.
13:25They are really against it at this point. And I think on Houston, it's a tricky spot because as much as it's
13:31easy to just, you know, make fun of the offense and CJ Stroud and there's no Nico Collins, they obviously need Nico back out there.
13:39Like, I mean, who are these guys we're even playing at receiver?
13:43I don't know what we're doing out there. The line has not been good.
13:47Same old story year after year. And Nick Cayley has not been good calling the plays.
13:52The numbers say the offense hasn't been terrible. It's easy to just be like, oh yeah, top five defense, bottom five offense.
13:59Same old Texans. It's not what the numbers say.
14:02The numbers say the offense has been like kind of like a little below average.
14:06It's not as bad as we make it sound.
14:09The problem is the defense isn't what we make it sound like either.
14:13They lost a linebacker this week. They have a real weakness over the middle of the field right now that teams can pick on.
14:21And I think that their predictability defensively is something that teams are prepared for early in the season, especially as well.
14:27The corners haven't been quite as good as usual.
14:30Will Anderson, he's been incredible. Will Anderson nearly won the game last week on his own.
14:35But yeah, if you're Houston, if we knew what we thought coming in and we said, okay, it's going to be a bad offense, but an amazing defense.
14:43And now we said, okay, what if I could boost the offense seven spots in the rankings, but I have to take those seven away from the defense.
14:52That's what we've done. That's what this team is right now.
14:55I don't think that's a winning scenario for Houston.
14:58And I don't think that's a trade you necessarily want to make.
15:02So I still like the team. I love watching the team.
15:05I still have them like 12 to 14th in my power rating.
15:09It's still a good team, but 12 to 14th, that's how many playoff teams we have.
15:14And none of the other ones are 0-3 right now in that group.
15:18So it's going to be a tough spot. I think there's value betting Houston game to game.
15:23I have them on the look ahead already against Dallas this week.
15:27Jacksonville is good in that division, man. Jacksonville is looking great.
15:30Indianapolis is good and just beat Houston. I think they're going to be around.
15:35I like Indy's over seven and a half right now as well.
15:38So I don't see futures value on Houston. I don't think that's the way to go right now.
15:44We talked about it last week with Brandon Kravitz of just Houston's number.
15:48The books haven't gotten away from it yet. And so I think you can play game to game maybe, but we're maybe
15:55another loss or two away from starting to question that too.
15:58Yeah, I think this is a difficult one. Houston's 0-3.
16:01You said like, you know, the markets haven't exactly gone away from them.
16:05They're favorites. So, I mean, 0-3 team favorite against like this Dallas offense, even, you know, whatever you make of the defense.
16:12I think the difficult part and almost the impossible part is without Nico Collins.
16:16Like it is just an absolute different team. Put him back into the lineup.
16:21Houston could look a lot different. I also think it's a little bit weird that week one, you get the David Montgomery situation.
16:28They look fantastic. Week two and three, it's been a complete different story.
16:32And even you look at some of the advanced numbers, weeks two and three, they're 27th in success rate.
16:38They're 29th in EPA. Like it's which team you're getting.
16:41It's too early to find out, but I'm not buying at the moment.
16:45I think I need to wait and see. So I agree.

18:17And now, the moment you've all been waiting for.
18:20Isn't that why I go here? Oh, I can't wait.
18:23Let's look at the big picture here. All right.
18:26Let's go to the big picture. Brandon, we're going to go just basically through a bunch of teams here, but only the teams that are 3-0.
18:34So I want you to kind of analyze. It's the Chiefs, the Bills, the Niners, the Vikings, and the Raiders.
18:40Go one by one. We'll kind of have some back and forth here.
18:44Yeah. So I do an article every year on what do we do with these 3-0 teams?
18:49Who's real? Who's... I mean, nobody's not real when you're 3-0.
18:53But who's a little less real, perhaps, than it looks?
18:56And how often do those teams still miss the playoffs?
18:59So here are the numbers. Since the merger in 1970, 75% of 3-0 teams go on to make the playoffs.
19:05That's pretty good. But I'd really like to make it more than 75% if I'm 3-0.
19:10If I'm 3-0, I'm feeling a little better than 75% of playoffs right now.
19:14Kind of like we said with that Rams number.
19:17Since 2013, that drops a little bit to 68%.
19:2045 out of 66. About 2 out of 3.
19:23Again, not as high as you would think. Now, in the last five years, we expanded the playoffs.
19:28So we have an extra spot now. A little more cushion for you.
19:32The numbers have been better. Up to 79% to make.
19:35So a little better in that stretch. But just last year, I did this column.
19:40We had six teams that started 3-0. Two of them you forgot about because they finished so badly.
19:45The Buccaneers and the Colts, back half of the season, went 3-14 combined after starting 6-0 the first three weeks.
19:52And both missed the playoffs. So we've seen teams collapse like this.
19:55Generally speaking, we've got five teams this year. No Eagles.
19:58Get them out of here. No 3-0 for them.
20:01The odds say one, maybe two of these teams missed the playoffs.
20:05So we're going to go in order of the team I think is the safest down to the team that I think is, you know, not the safest.
20:14And not a shocking order for today. I know I like to surprise and go contrarian sometimes.
20:19I'm kind of consensus on this. We'll talk all the way through.
20:22So let's start with the Chiefs. I don't think we learned a lot this week, right?
20:27We played the Dolphins. They crushed the Dolphins. The Dolphins are a college team.
20:32Like this is not a real game. Nothing to take away here.
20:35I actually looked around. Give me Dolphins to win exactly one game.
20:39Where can I bet that at? That's the bet I want.
20:43You don't go in 17 anymore. Just get one game.
20:46Exactly one. I want that bet. Before that, Colts take the Chiefs to overtime.
20:50All right. Feels close. The Chiefs had almost 200 yards more.
20:53Almost seven yards per play offensively. They cruised in that game.
20:57The Colts were lucky to get as far as they did.
21:00They crushed Denver in the opener. We forget that now.
21:03But they doubled up Denver in yardage and in first downs.
21:07Kenneth Walker was everywhere. Where Denver, since that game, beat the Jaguars and the Rams.
21:11That could be a Super Bowl matchup. And Denver just beat those teams.
21:15And the Chiefs crushed Denver in this month that we're recording still.
21:19So that's the 3-0 start. I'm not impressed by the Miami win.
21:23But the Colts and Broncos ones are pretty good.
21:26And this is supposed to be the downswing for the Chiefs.
21:29This is Mahomes coming off the torn ACL, getting back up to speed.
21:33This is new running back. Revamped line. Breaking in a new offensive style.
21:37This is new cornerbacks that they're breaking in. I think this is real.
21:41Chiefs are top six DVOA offense and defense so far.
21:44Small sample, but that's where you want to be.
21:47Top 12 run and pass offense and defense. Up next, obviously the big game this week at the Raiders.
21:53Another 3-0 team we'll get to in a bit.
21:56Then an early bye week. Then the Chargers. You already beat the Broncos.
22:00If you went out the Raiders and the Chargers, that division's a wrap.
22:04Like you're already basically set up at that point.
22:06It will get tough later. Week 12-14, the Chiefs go on the road.
22:10Three straight. Bills, Rams, Bengals. So there will be a chance.
22:14If you want to fade the Chiefs, I get it.
22:17You can do it. You shouldn't do it now.
22:20You can do it later. If you want to buy the Chiefs, I get it.
22:24I think you're too late. 11-1 Super Bowl. 9-1 Mahomes MVP.
22:28I think you're too late. You missed the window on that.
22:31Now you've got to wait. Now you've got to play game to game.
22:35I think, Evan, the Chiefs are safe. And they're the Chiefs we always knew they were.
22:40I kind of disagree. Which is good for a podcast situation, obviously.
22:44I just think this is the easy part of the season.
22:47I think, surprisingly, they look fantastic when Mahomes is just trying to get back in.
22:52So I do think that is a bit of a, oh my God, they look so good early thing.
22:58But the schedule was kind of made for this.
23:00And you had mentioned it, and that's why I was nodding my head.
23:04After the bye, Chargers are what they are. But Seattle, Denver.
23:08And then you get that brutal stretch at the end of the year.
23:12Buffalo, Rams, Bengals, Patriots, 49ers at the Chargers. I mean, I just think there are steps and things to come.
23:18And yes, the signs look fantastic. They're a Super Bowl, you know, not favorite, but top five type situation.
23:24Everyone's putting them number one across the league. I just want a tiny pause.
23:28And it shouldn't be this week. Like, they should win the Raiders.
23:32The Raiders are a fraudulent 3-0 team. But to me, it's a wait-and-see situation.
23:36And the early bye, I don't know how much I love that for the KC team.
23:41Like, I think I would have preferred it to be later.
23:45So we'll see how it goes. All right, hit me up with the Bills.
23:49Yeah, Bills, obviously, just classic Bills game on Sunday against the Chargers.
23:53They literally fumble on the first play. They end up with five turnovers.
23:57You know, Josh Allen has one of those games.
23:59But unlike usual Bills, they win the game. They cover in the game.
24:04They win comfortably in this one. The Chargers basically feel like, I look at yards.
24:08I look at success rate. That's the thing when we're at the end of the day Sunday, looking at a quick glance.
24:15It's how these teams do against each other. Chargers basically dead even.
24:19That's the 0-3 Chargers that everyone is dumping on correctly.
24:22So you don't want to be even with the Chargers at the end of that.
24:26But Josh Allen has that game where he's doing all the stupid Josh Allen stuff.
24:31But he does the other Josh Allen stuff. He's saving the game with his legs and his creativity.
24:37That play late in the game, fourth down. I think fourth and seven out near midfield.
24:42They go for it. He's kind of getting sacked.
24:44And he stays up and flips the ball out to Ty Johnson, who goes all the way for a touchdown.
24:50He gets called back. So just a first down.
24:53But that's the sort of MVP play that Allen has.
24:56Even in the midst of, I'm losing you the game.
24:59He wins you the game. And covers the game like great teams do.
25:03So for me, I was a huge Bill skeptic.
25:06This is the exact game the Bills lose. Like two, three times a year and in the playoffs.
25:12It's meaningful that they didn't lose. It's meaningful that the offense is so good.
25:16They have a little extra margin for error now.
25:19I think Joe Brady has surprised me and really added some margin for error there.
25:24So they're 3-0. I will say, though, they've really only been great in one of the three.
25:29That was the Thursday night Lions game. They just demolished the Lions, who were, by the way, off of overtime on a short week.
25:36A spot that everybody liked for the Bills that day.
25:39Against the Texans in week one, we just talked about them.
25:43Houston, I think, outplayed them in some of the metrics.
25:46Success rate much higher. Buffalo hit the explosives. Buffalo won late.
25:49But Josh Allen dropped interception, turned into a touchdown on the next play.
25:53There's the game. That was the game late. Look, that's how it goes.
25:57You've got to make the plays and win. So for Buffalo, they're making the plays.
26:02They're beating a tough stretch on the schedule. Houston, Detroit, and the Chargers.
26:06That's supposed to be a pretty tough stretch coming in, even though I know the records aren't great.
26:11I still worry about the defense. It's not as bad as I thought coming in.
26:16Greg Russo has been awesome. Deion Walker, breakout defensive tackle.
26:19They're like 20th best in the league in a lot of metrics.
26:23That's not great, but you can live with 20th best when the offense is this good.
26:28When the offense is top three running and passing.
26:31When they're a little pass heavier under Joe Brady.
26:33I didn't expect that. That's one of the things I didn't love about him.
26:38They've been so run heavy. Dalton Kincaid continues to be awesome.
26:41If your offense is that good, you can live with a mediocre defense.
26:45You just can't be bad. History says offense that good makes the playoffs.
26:49I think this team probably should be 2-1, maybe even 1-2.
26:53But we talked about the Rams. I think you can make a case they're pretty kind of similar sort of a team outcome so far.
27:00But the Bills aren't 1-2. They're 3-0. And that matters because you're one Josh Allen injury away from peril at all times on this team.
27:08That's the problem. But the flip side, you're home against the Patriots this week who can't do anything right now.
27:14You're a touchdown favorite. And if you win that game, you're basically three and a half games up in the division as October starts.
27:22And I think you're already a wrap. You're already in the playoffs at that point.
27:26I'll still be skeptical later until I see better from the defense.
27:30But as far as making the playoffs, I think the offense being this good has to make them pretty safe.
27:36It's funny. It's legitimately just winning the exact same amount of games every single regular season.
27:41It looks the same over and over again. And I have no reason to think that's not going to be the same this year.
27:49And I do think the defense will get a little better since we're talking 24s, 25, and 26 in terms of rankings
27:55on a lot of efficiencies for them. All right.
27:58Let's go to that third team, as I just mentioned.
28:01Who is it? It is the San Francisco 49ers.
28:04It is the San Francisco 49ers. Again, not a lot of surprises here that these three, whatever order you'd put them, I
28:11think these three clearly at the top. My skepticism on why this is third of those three, pretty easy to understand why.
28:18It's the injuries. The injuries are setting you up for what could be a house of cards situation.
28:23Let's start with the good. But this offense has been even better than Buffalo.
28:27And, like, by margin, actually, so far, thanks to Buffalo not being so good this week.
28:32But by DVOA, they're one of the best 3-0 starts in league history.
28:36They're number one in DVOA. Top quarter of the league running and passing offense and defense.
28:41I don't know if we've really seen this team prove all that much, though.
28:46Like, the numbers look really great. And you can't argue with them.
28:49But I'm going to argue with them. So, week one, Australia, Rams, they were really good.
28:54You get credit for that. But it's going to be hard to know for another few months still how much was that a real outcome in Australia.
29:03The first game of the season, we know, like, week one, even most of September, is kind of a preseason type thing at this point.
29:10The Niners crushed the Rams. There's no doubt about that.
29:14I'm not making any skepticism there. How meaningful was it?
29:17I don't think we know the answer to that yet, in part because look at the last two weeks.
29:22The Niners played the Dolphins and the Cardinals. Okay, what are we really learning from that?
29:27You play the Dolphins. First five drives, five touchdowns, over 10 yards of play.
29:32Congrats, again, Dolphins, a college team. Play the Cardinals, almost nine yards of play.
29:36But, defensively, 52% success rate allowed. Defensively on the field, 39 minutes.
29:40I don't love that for a team that's supposed to be winning big against the Cardinals.
29:45Only a six-point win. And, again, more injuries. Nick Bosa gets hurt in practice last week.
29:50Then Mike Evans gets hurt. Then Trent Williams leaves the game.
29:53So, the injuries are already stacking up. The offensive numbers are just insane.
29:57But, too insane? I'm going to argue because 56% success rate, number one in the league, just outlier good.
30:0364% success passing. That is 10% higher than second place.
30:06You're not going to be that good all season.
30:09That's just not how numbers and success rate works.
30:12By EPA per play on passing downs, they're at 0.62 EPA per play.
30:16For context, that is almost double the number two team in EPA per play.
30:20You are not twice as good as every other team passing the ball.
30:24That is not how football works. By EPA per play overall, they're number one.
30:28They're almost 50% better than the Bills. Think about the Bills.
30:32Think of what we watched in that Lions Thursday night game when they could just score on every play they wanted.
30:38And the 49ers are 50% better. Okay. Yes, so far against the teams they've played.
30:43But those sort of numbers that can only go down, right?
30:46Like, you can only be worse and a lot worse than that.
30:50It's just unsustainable. They've not played a true road game yet.
30:53It was technically a road game in Australia. I mean, you're not at home.
30:58But that was not in LA. Different sort of environment.
31:01Back half of the season, only home games for the Niners.
31:04Seattle after a Mexico game. The Rams and the Eagles.
31:07So no easy home games. Lots of road games in the back half.
31:11And then, yeah, the injuries, man. Just already stacking up.
31:14The receivers are down to Debo Samuel and a bunch of dudes nobody even had.
31:19Like, in their deep 20-team fantasy league this year.
31:22You're still not taking these guys. Tonjes is out.
31:25Trent Williams is already getting banged up. The defensive line is decimated.
31:28They got nobody there. Nick Bosa out indefinitely. The secondary has been good so far.
31:33But what happens when it's not the Dolphins and not the Cardinals?
31:37So here's my conclusion on the Niners. I'm certainly not buying on Futurist right now.
31:41You're buying high and you're buying the injury risk.
31:44I think it's a house of cards. I think the injuries are stacking up.
31:48And it's not there yet. But it's going to get there where the wrong injury comes through.
31:54And it just, it all topples. I'm skeptical. I think you have to play game to game.
31:59It's Denver and Seattle next. So let's see. Like, that will tell us a lot more than these last two weeks.
32:05They just, you know, piled on against the easiest stretch of the schedule.
32:09But I think we have a lot to learn on the Niners.
32:13I'm skeptical that they're too good to fade right now.
32:16But I can't buy because of the injuries. Yeah, you just said it yourself.
32:21Talk to me after week five. After they face this Denver defense and after they are at Seattle.
32:26He's now, Brock Parody, 56 starts. He's never faced Denver.
32:29And in his last three starts for Seattle, two of those three starts are his fourth and sixth worst success rate in terms of passing.
32:37So he struggled versus that defense recently. So it's a wait and see for me.
32:42Like, the numbers are unbelievable. It's like two times better than any other quarterback.
32:46I just have to ignore it at the moment.
32:49Let's just wait and see. You know, this is why we have the NFL.
32:53We get to watch and see. And he faces two unbelievable defenses in back-to-back weeks.
32:58So can't wait for it. All right. These two teams are obvious.
33:01If you're going to list the 3-0 teams, these have to be at the bottom.
33:06I just think it's interesting to kind of analyze where you think both of them go.
33:11So talk me through them. Yeah, it's Vikings and Raiders left.
33:14And that's the order that I think that they should stack up here.
33:18So look, we know I'm a Vikings fan. I'm happy to be 3-0 as a Vikings fan.
33:24I think the fair outcome for this team is probably 1-2 right now.
33:28You can make a pretty easy argument that they could and perhaps deserve to have lost all three games so far.
33:34So week one, they're getting dominated, frankly, by the Packers.
33:37For three quarters, you know, no Kyler Murray for much of it.
33:41But look what the Packers have looked like since then.
33:44And then five crazy minutes in the fourth quarter blows the whole thing.
33:48The Vikings finish under four yards of play against that defense.
33:51Under 40% success rate. 239 yards. And it turns out that was their most successful offensive game so far.
33:57Because the next week, it's against Chicago in the rain.
34:0035% success. Under 250 yards again. 11 first downs.
34:03They win 9-3. And now you get the Bucs game this week.
34:07Under 250 yards again. All three weeks failing to crack 250 yards of offense.
34:11Nine first downs. Two of 15 on third down.
34:1424% success rate. You are successful on less than one of four offensive plays.
34:18And this offense is just rough. There are no two ways around it.
34:22And it's rough against the Packers and Bears and Bucs.
34:25Defenses have not been good so far. So I'm sure you have some of these stats too, Evan.
34:31Minus 244 yard differential. Second worst by any 3-0 team ever.
34:34Notably, the only worst team was the 2020 Seahawks.
34:37They still got to 5-0. They still finished 12-4.
34:40They still did make the playoffs. So it's not necessarily the end of the world.
34:45Worst EPA per play by any 3-0 offense in the last decade.
34:48Persumer Sports. There are 50 teams. They're 50th. So that's not where you want to be.
34:53But where you're at right now is basically through three games, you've lost effectively two games of Kyler Murray so far.
35:00You basically lost one game of Justin Jefferson this week.
35:03You've lost two games of Jordan Mason. You lost a Juwan Jennings game.
35:07Now you lost Josh Oliver. A name you might not think much of.
35:11But an awesome blocking tight end. That's a big part of their run blocking scheme.
35:15Basically a starter for them. So it's not good offensively so far.
35:19There's no proof that this works with Kyler. It's really bad.
35:23And then you go to the rest of the game and everything else is amazing.
35:27They're number one in defense. They're number one in special teams.
35:31Everything else has been incredible because it has to be.
35:34Otherwise, you're not 3-0. So the defense is as good defensively as the Niners offensively.
35:38Like that's how outlier good it's been. 31% success rate that they've allowed is an insane number defensively.
35:44They've allowed nine trips to the red zone, one touchdown.
35:47That's amazing and not repeatable. That is crazy outlier.
35:50It's not going to keep happening. Third down conversion over expected minus 11%.
35:54So you're not letting teams get your third downs in the first.
35:58You're not letting teams get into the end zone.
36:00It's really great, but it's not going to stay that great all season long.
36:05You did that against the Bears in the rain.
36:07You did it against Love and Baker. Both are struggling a lot.
36:11Both faulty blocking up front. Every defensive metric you choose is a wild outlier.
36:15So the same thing I just said about the Niners.
36:19It can't stay that good. It has to come back.
36:22So we talked about this with the Texans. What happens when it comes back?
36:26When the defense inevitably comes down a little bit, the offense has to be better than it's looked.
36:32We're going to get healthy. We're going to get some guys out there.
36:36Now what happens? What happens when you meet toward the middle?
36:39And by the way, number one special teams too.
36:42So that's not going to stay that high forever either.
36:45So the wins count. Packers, Bears, Bucs. This was a tough stretch on the schedule, especially with the injuries.
36:51So 3-0 is good. And you can't fade Minnesota in the futures market because guess what?
36:56They're playing the Dolphins this week. Why are the Dolphins playing all the teams on this list?
37:01I don't know why, but they're home 11.5 point favorites.
37:04Then they're at the Saints with a shoddy line.
37:07Tyler Shuck, bad pocket management. I don't love that.
37:10Against all the Brian Flores blitzing. Then a bye week.
37:13So look, here's what I'm going to tell you.
37:15I absolutely think the Vikings are fraudulent right now.
37:18I absolutely think they shouldn't be 3-0, but I think they're going to be 5-0.
37:23Then we're going to fade them after that. So we're going to bet against them at some point.
37:28I promise you, this is not Vikings fandom. It's just not right now.
37:32You got to wait a few weeks still. And after the bye, you have the Colts.
37:37So I don't even know. You might have to talk to me in November.
37:42But yes, yes, there is. This is a fraudulent situation on both sides of the ball if you want to just talk about extremes.
37:49But I do think that the defense will continue to cause havoc.
37:53They'll continue to make non-experienced quarterbacks do dumb things.
37:56And I think they're going to be a problem if they keep winning games because O'Connell is so good on the offensive
38:02side, even if it's bad, he's going to try to figure things out.
38:06So I'm a bit of a buyer in Minnesota at this point just because I feel like the injuries are a bit of bad luck.
38:14And none of them, Mason's on IR. I was trying to think, are they all long-term or are they more short-term where they can get healthy again?
38:22So to me, I'm a bit of a buyer.
38:25Talk to me about the Raiders. Yeah, I'm not a buyer in the Raiders.
38:30I hate to say it. We love a 3-0 Raiders.
38:33I think it's fun for the National Football League to have the Raiders being good again.
38:38They're right now 51% at DraftKings predict to make the playoffs.
38:4151% there, a coin flip to make the playoffs as we hit October.
38:45I don't buy it. We got the 3-0 Raiders hosting the 3-0 Chiefs.
38:49I think you got to enjoy this while you can.
38:52I don't think it's going to last. So we're zooming out.
38:56We're looking back at these three weeks so far.
38:58I think the Raiders have proven very little. If anything, I think they've actually proven maybe more negative than we're giving credit for.
39:05So you're 3-0 against the Dolphins, Chargers, and Saints.
39:08Those teams are a 1-8 combined. And the one win, they got badly outplayed, and they needed a late comeback to get there.
39:15That was the Saints when you played Miami in the opener.
39:19Pretty much dead even. Didn't even get 300 yards on that defense.
39:22Not great in hindsight compared to what we've seen Miami do the last two games.
39:27You play the Chargers pretty much even. 35% success rate offensively.
39:30Not great because the Chargers are not a team we want to play even right now.
39:35And then I thought the Saints outplayed them this week.
39:39More yards, better success rate. The Saints won a first quarter against the Raiders for the first time in like three centuries.
39:45Of course, the one I bet against them. That's the quarter that they beat them in.
39:50They lost because four turnovers. You get credit for that.
39:53You get the win. But I don't think they've really been great so far.
39:58I was optimistic about Kubiak's team running the ball.
40:00They've been terrible running the ball. The offensive line has not come together.
40:04They are 31% success rate rushing the football. That's bottom five against the Dolphins, Chargers, and Saints.
40:10Bad. Outright bad run defenses. And success rate's not even taking that into account.
40:14So if you could measure that against competition, I think they would just be worst in the league.
40:20So what's good so far? The defense has been good, but against the Dolphins, Chargers, and Saints.
40:25Poor offensive lines. Overall poor offenses. I think two things.
40:28This was my number 31 defense into the season.
40:31I had Rob Leonard dead last in my defensive coordinators.
40:34Clearly wrong. They're clearly not that bad. They're also not a top 10 defense like the numbers say right now.
40:40So there's still a distinct lack of talent. There's somewhere in between.
40:44Where is the somewhere? I think is the big question.
40:47Again, the wins count. You're not dominant in a game, but I think you've been lucky with a schedule, but you're not
40:54lucky anymore because here we go with the schedule.
40:56Starting with the Chiefs this week, then at the Patriots, maybe not as bad as it once looked.
41:02We'll see. Bills, Rams, at the Jets. That's the soft one in here, but they're pretty good right now.
41:08And at the Niners, Seahawks, at the Broncos. Well, the honeymoon is over Raiders fans.
41:12I think the Raiders will be underdog in all eight of those games.
41:17I think even at the Jets, if things go the way they're going.
41:21So what's the median outcome of just those eight games?
41:24Like one in seven, maybe two in six. I don't know that you're going to do much better than that.
41:30So you go two in six, you start three and oh, now you're five and six.
41:35Here's the problem. Once you start losing all these games, guess who's playing?
41:39Fernando Mendoza is going to come in and not Kirk Cousins anymore.
41:42And now look, I like Mendoza long-term. So not about that, but a rookie quarterback is going to lower your ceiling.
41:49You're going to lose some more games after that.
41:52So zooming out, what do we like? The defense is better than we thought a little bit.
41:57The linebacker has been better. The special team has been good.
42:00Kubiak's good. Brock Bowers has been great. We'll talk about him in a second, but you're still not running the ball.
42:07Gentry's not been good. The line's not been great.
42:10And looking overall big picture in my power ratings, not power rankings, power ratings.
42:14What do I think about a team right now on the field?
42:18Chiefs, Niners, Bills, all top six. That's easy. Vikings are in my top 10.
42:22I think they're a bit underrated in the market.
42:25I have the Raiders 22nd. They are a far, far cry down the list.
42:2922nd is nearly bottom 10. That's where I rank them offense and defense.
42:33And with the schedule coming up, I think that sets us up for a fade.
42:38So under eight and a half, that's going to be my bet.
42:42Under eight and a half wins on the season.
42:44Now look, they're minus 180 to miss the playoffs.
42:47That's a little safer if you want, but the only reason you're going to pay the extra juice there is if you
42:54think they're going to win nine or 10 games, but still miss the playoffs.
42:58I'm not paying for that. Like if you're out on the Raiders, you got to just be on the Raiders.
43:04The AFC has a lot of tough, you know, like really Miami and Tennessee are the only dead teams over there.
43:11I'll go under eight and a half. You can, if you want play under six and a half plus three 38 at draft Kings.
43:18This is a play on skepticism on the Raiders.
43:21And on that schedule coming up, you might go oh, and eight in that stretch.
43:26And suddenly you're three and eight. And suddenly we're getting very, very different numbers here.
43:30Now I will say this, the last six games, they play the Browns, the Titans and the Cardinals.
43:36So don't play this bet right now. If you are not willing to watch and maybe come on the other side later
43:43to make sure that you get a little, you know, balance out your portfolio.
43:47But this is maybe more of like a weekly trading segment one here where you can sell, you know, short some Raiders
43:54stock while it's temporarily high and you can come back on it later.
43:58Look, it stinks to rain on the parade of the surprise three and O team.
44:03Like I wanted to come in and be like Raiders are in and the bills or the Niners are out.
44:09Like that's a lot more fun of a take.
44:11Just the Raiders are not the team, even at three and O they're not a playoff team.
44:17And I think it's going to come crashing down pretty much immediately.
44:20Yeah. Rookie head coach cousins tied for the league lead and passing touchdowns.
44:24There's all sorts of things you could probably point to the schedule.
44:28I will say this at home this week. I think the only question is, is it this week or is it next week?
44:35Like, could you talk yourself into, cause the lines four and a half.
44:39Like if you like the Raiders, I think the time is now or next week.
44:44It is right here to go the opposite direction because you enter the season at a five and a half or six and a half win total.
44:52You're now up to like eight and a half.
44:55They're just basically adding a win on top of where you started.
44:59So will it be nine and a half? If they got the, if they beat the chiefs this week to me, and
45:06then that game at new England is a revenge spot.
45:09New England. That was like the one situation that no one will shut up about, about the Patriots from last season is losing that game against the Raiders.
45:17Well, now the Patriots can take care of business in a spot where they look like crap.
45:23So I really do kind of, kind of like new England in that game.
45:27But to me, the decision is now or before that new England game, depending on what you feel.
45:32But I agree. Now, what is the positive spin?
45:35Because fans out there, we do have a positive spin on the Raiders.
45:39What do you got? Yeah. So I dumped a lot on the Raiders.
45:43I do have a positive bet on the one part of the Raiders.
45:47I definitely want to invest in coming away from a Sunday.
45:51And that is Brock Bowers because my goodness, that man can play some football.
45:55So he came back and look, we got the news a couple of weeks ago, Brock Bowers.
46:00I had some preseason bets on Brock Bowers. And right before the season starts, we get news that the knee is injured.
46:07He's getting like the meniscus cut. I'm thinking, Oh, it's all bad.
46:11Like he's going to miss half the season. It sounds terrible.
46:14The reports are he's only a missing game or two.
46:17I'm like, get out of here. Nobody believes this crap.
46:20He's not going to come back with that early.
46:23He's not going to be good. So what happens?
46:26Comes back after two weeks after getting his meniscus cut, he gets thrown the ball three times on the opening drive.
46:32So Kubiak, apparently not really that worried about Brock Bowers.
46:36He's going to build the entire plane out of them because he goes 10 catches, 116 yards and a touchdown, 13 targets already.
46:43After one game in fantasy football, he has tight end 17.
46:46That's how good he was in that one game.
46:49And I mentioned building the entire plane for Clint Kubiak.
46:52Heck that's what I love about Brock Bowers because man, did that look a lot like Jackson Smith and Jigba in Seattle last year?
46:59Look, not the same player, obviously, but the way that you are building everything out of one dude last year, he had
47:0636% of Seattle's targets, 44% of their yards in week three Bowers, 42% of the targets, 47% of the yards, awfully similar.
47:13Tyler, you are supposed to build a receiving core in the NFL.
47:17Seattle didn't really have one last year. They had JSN though, and they made him the offensive player of the year.
47:23Who are the Raiders receivers? They don't really have any.
47:26So why not just throw everything to Brock Bowers all the time?
47:30Because frankly, he's not even really a tight end.
47:33And I know, I mean that in a complimentary way.
47:36He's, I think only played something like nine snaps as a traditional tight end this week.
47:41No receptions, I believe as a traditional tight end, he's mostly splitting out wide.
47:45So now you are up against corners, but you got four inches.
47:49You got 30, 40 pounds on them. You can leverage that.
47:52So I want Bauer stock. I know it's possible.
47:55He just gets hurt again. I'm ready to buy in because I think the sky's the limit.
48:00So what's the way? Not offensive player of the year.
48:03You lost two games. That's a tight end. It's too far to get to.
48:08It's exciting. I can't get there. Receiving yards leader, 75 to one at DraftKings.
48:12Man, that's pretty ambitious for a tight end. Again, down two games of stats.
48:16I can't do that. So I had to get creative.
48:19We got prediction markets. Now I got two bets for you.
48:23You can play Brock Bowers to be the top fantasy football tight end at 11% in the prediction market.
48:29That's basically eight to one. I am buying that.
48:31He's already tight end 17 on one game. You're basically competing, I think, against Trey McBride.
48:36McBride's at 26, 211. You're halfway there with Bowers.
48:39Two touchdowns to one. You're halfway there. And he has a two game head start.
48:44I think Bowers can catch him. And if McBride misses a game or two or gets shut down late in the season
48:51or whatever, then he easily catches him. So I love that bet.
48:54And if you want to kind of fund the bet, you can also at a pressure to markets play tight end points
49:01per game in PPR over unders for tight ends.
49:04Bowers over under is at 14. He scored 27.6 in this game.
49:08So we're double starting out already last year in a down season.
49:11Hurt all year. 14.7. He still went over the number.
49:14Rookie season 15 and a half. Still over the number.
49:17So I think this is how we fund our escalator.
49:21So we'll go over 14 points a game at 56% in the prediction market.
49:25And then we'll do a top fancy tight end at 11%.
49:28You kind of took exactly what I was going to say, which to me is the best.
49:34And that's why I love doing this pod with you is the best reason for buying into Bowers is when you look
49:40at the line for last week with Kubiak, 16 snaps in the slot, 16 out wide, seven in line with a 9.3 a dot.
49:48Like he is just being used all over the field, upfield, all around.
49:52Cause they just don't, especially how Betch got hurt.
49:55Like he's just the man and he is going to be all over the place.
49:59So those are some creative ways. I was going to ask what like the over under for receiving touchdowns was.
50:05If they had that like live, I don't know.
50:08Does he look? I think he has one this year or something.
50:12I was just trying to look quick. Yeah. So what I like about the points per game is that you can hit,
50:19like he could play three more games and then get hurt again.
50:22I hope not, but we can still catch that.
50:25That's a per game. We don't need an overall season total.
50:29I don't love a great point. I don't love betting touchdowns because you're kind of betting on the Raiders now too.
50:35Like you need to score enough points to get the touchdowns.
50:38He has not been a huge touchdown threat. JSN was under Kubiak.
50:42So maybe that's a Bowers thing. Now I'd rather bet if you can find it, I'd love a receptions.
50:48I'd start with that one. If you can find it, I like a yards over.
50:53I'd have to look at what the numbers are because I haven't seen that market up, but I prefer receptions, then yards over touchdowns.
51:00But I really like these fantasy ones where I haven't seen those ways to bet before, but with prediction markets, we can,
51:07we can do some trading and get in on some Bowers stock.
51:11Yeah, that is a really, really good point. I hadn't thought about that.
51:15The points per game stuff is like much more value in not having to play extended time, but yet getting the games that he's actually playing in.
51:23So for example, Brock Bowers could play one snap next game, catch one pass for no yards and finish with one fantasy
51:30point and be out for the rest of the season.
51:33And we'll still cash our bet because that's the number he's at right now.
51:37And we'd still get to that number. So that that's, that's the security blanket.
51:42I think where it's like, you have such a good head start and, and look, the other, I should mention to the potas possible downside.
51:49Mendoza is going to play at some point. Now what now does Mendoza go as easily to Bowers?
51:55I don't, I don't hate that. Like cousins loves the tight end.
51:59So cuz I'm going to throw to him plenty.
52:01Kubiak's going to make him throw to the tight end.
52:04Like that's your target out there. And if anything, it might get better because we see rookie quarterbacks lock onto their one guy all the time.
52:12So if you're looking out here at Jack bash and Trey Tucker and Naylor, and then you got giant Brock Bowers over
52:19here, I think I'm gonna throw him the football.
52:22So I don't mind that Mendoza plays either. They also both feel like nerds.
52:26They should get along. And honestly, Mendoza, Mendoza has happy feet.
52:30It's like what exactly we saw in the preseason.
52:33I feel like that's only going to help Bowers if he's in there.
52:37Okay. So Raiders under eight and a half, but Bowers, all these markets, we've got points per game.
52:42There's a bunch of stuff on prediction markets that are fun there.
52:46Love the points per game angle based off of how many games can be missed.
52:50Okay. So one last thing. Can I say one more thing?
52:54This better be important. There's one more thing before I go.
52:57You got some kitchen sink winners here. So give me what you got.
53:01Yeah. So week three, we talked about kitchen sink week.
53:04Here we are week four, Atlanta, Washington, Owen, two teams that won outright as big underdogs.
53:09That was two of the big stories last week.
53:12So here's your stat for kitchen sink teams in week four.
53:15Teams that were Owen, two, and then one outright as six that are now six point underdogs or less in week four.
53:22Those teams are 26 and 14 ATS, 65% cover rate covering by six points a game.
53:27Even better, straight up. Those teams have a winning record, even though they're underdogs.
53:3223 and 17 straight up covering or winning by almost three points a game.
53:3644% ROI on the money line. So guess who the two teams applies to again this week?
53:41It's Atlanta and it's Washington who both happen to be an island game.
53:45So like it or not, we're going to be watching them again.
53:49Washington Sunday morning in London, Atlanta. Monday night in New Orleans, the Hurricane Katrina game.
53:54So a little extra reason for the Saints to be amped up.
53:57That line could get pushed up. The numbers are telling us to be careful here that Washington and Atlanta could be dangerous a second straight week.
54:05I was doing research this week and I was like, Daniel Jones and Marcus Mariota in London.
54:11I feel like I've already seen this before. And they both played there a bunch of times, but not against each other.
54:17All right. Very good, Brandon. That'll do it for us today.
54:21Keep an eye out for Stucky and Doug's week four betting preview on Wednesday.
54:25I'll be on that as well. The touchdown show on Thursday and Friday.
54:29Brandon will be back for the NFL playground. Love those.
54:32The shoots, the ladders, the parlays, the whole works.
54:35Guarantee it's going to be better than last week.
