0:00It's the Harris Fantasy Football Podcast with your host, Christopher Harris.
0:04Hey everybody, welcome in. My name is Chris. This is a show taking place in the only state named for a U.S.
0:12president. That is Washington State. That's where I am right now.
0:17What is going on? How are you? Thank you so much, very, very much for listening.
0:23The show is so stupid, but it's also pretty amazing.
0:26I am talking to you from Seattle. I'm in a hotel room making the little podcast that could, having wound up the first leg of the world tour.
0:37If by world tour you mean Pacific Time Zone in the United States of America.
0:42And as soon as we wrap up this show, I'm headed to Portland for another meetup tonight.
0:49That's Monday, August 24th at 7pm in Portland. Did I say Portland already?
0:54Portland, Oregon, that would be. The Rainbow Road Pub is where we will be.
0:59And right off the top here, I wanted to deliver you a message if you've been on the fence about coming out
1:07to these events that I'm doing this week. A few of the people who came out in Tacoma last night wanted me
1:15to come on the show today and emphasize how glad they were to have come.
1:21And they were going to have to come solo.
1:24They were a little anxious about the weirdness of showing up.
1:29I don't really know Harris and I don't really know anybody else.
1:33And then boom, at these things, it always happens.
1:36Everyone just gels. It happens every time. And people have fun and make friends.
1:42So if you feel weird about coming alone to the thing in Portland tonight, August 24th, or Vegas on the 25th, or
1:50Phoenix on the 26th, or LA on the 1st, I hope you can overcome it.
1:56I think you should because the folks last night were really happy they came and I was very happy they also were there too.
2:05We had a blast. I think we had 25 people.
2:08It's a great crowd. We filled the back patio at the Mule Tavern.
2:13Sam, who owns the Mule, was incredible. I hung out with him and his pals and played poker in the afternoon.
2:21You know who else was there? One, Mr. Brandon Funston did drive down and join us, which was amazing.
2:28If you're in Tacoma or you're in Seattle and just want a great bar, the Mule.
2:34Go to the Mule Tavern. It's absolutely great. I read my little stories and then we just chatted and hung out.
2:42I signed some books for some folks. It was just great.
2:46I want to thank the many listeners up here who took their time out of their Sunday to hang out with me and make me feel so welcome.
2:57And I'm really looking forward to meeting more tonight and through the rest of the week.
3:03You know, the people last night, a bunch of them started a pound-foolish fantasy league that's going to be in Tacoma, which is in Seattle.
3:12Amazing. They're drafting next week. It was a great time.
3:16And Cameron, don't worry. I think your team that you were drafting right before the reading, that team's going to be good.
3:24Don't worry. Okay. Hey, feels like about a month since the last time I talked to the podcast audience, even though it was just Friday.
3:34Gee, let's take a big sip of fictional coffee and check the headlines and see if anything happened.
3:40And oh my god, I'm spitting fictional coffee all over my laptop and touching my fictional earpiece and being told that Ashton Gentey is grievously injured.
3:50That was certainly the worry and the talk around the mule on Sunday.
3:55We were all trying to get details on Gente.
3:58And as of my recording this, I'm going to say we don't have that many details.
4:04We were told that in a Sunday practice, Gente took an awkward step and went down hard and couldn't put weight on his leg.
4:13And then we were told that teammates were praying, which is not usually an amazing sign of future health.
4:20And then a few hours later, the team told Adam Schefter, ah, you know, just an ankle sprain.
4:27Not long term. It's all good. And while I probably, knowing what I know right now, which is nothing, just reading stuff,
4:35I probably believe that probably means Genteyy didn't destroy his knee, totally rip ligaments and stuff.
4:41That was certainly the fear when the news was trickling out of Raiders camp.
4:47But I also kind of call BS on the whole, oh, well, you know, not a big deal.
4:53Because it just seems like that typical NFL damage control that spreads the happy bull crap.
4:59For more examples, pre-order pound foolish. How many times this August have we already had an injury take place and we're all freaked out?
5:08And the team goes, oh, they leak it to Adam Rappaport or Adam Rappaport.
5:14Basically, it might as well be right. Ian Rappaport.
5:17And then they're like, oh, avoided serious injury. And then a day later, oh, you know, but he's still had a month.
5:25I don't know, buddy. A month seems like kind of a serious injury to me.
5:31I find it almost impossible to believe that Jinty is fine and totally unencumbered for week one.
5:37Just like Jeremiah Love boosters are parading around going, whoo, we're really knowledgeable at there.
5:43Love is fine. He's great. And he has a high ankle sprain.
5:48He's not great. As of this morning, I have not changed Jinty's rank yet.
5:53But if you're doing a draft this morning, between now and the time we get more official word about how long Jinty
6:01is supposed to be out, I think you basically have to leave him alone near the end of the first round, beginning of the second round.
6:11It's just too much risk. My guess here, and I think you know, obviously, I have no sources here.
6:18Just trying to interpret how this stuff goes. You know, we are going to get an update, but it's probably going to
6:26be nebulous, and the Raiders are probably going to be optimistic and cagey.
6:31Like with Jeremiah Love, Jinty will spend the next couple of weeks trying to get better, and they'll see how it feels,
6:39and it'll be kind of a race against the clock.
6:43And I just don't know any way around it, unless it's really nothing, and we can be made to believe that it's
6:51really nothing over the next few days. Anyways, we're just adding to the range of possible outcomes that this ankle injury causes
7:00him not to be himself, and not to handle a full workload, and potentially get re-injured.
7:06All of which just has to lower him in the ranks some.
7:10So the question becomes, who else? And I think you know as well as I do, the Raiders don't have proven options behind Jinty.
7:19Raheem Mostert, long gone from last year. Zamir White, long gone from last year.
7:24Zamir White got traded, I guess, to the 49ers.
7:28Going to be a camp body. I'm not... Oh no, I think he did get traded to the Saints.
7:35It's either the 49ers or the Saints, and I don't care.
7:39Zamir White's not very good. But the answer would almost certainly have to be the fourth round rookie, Mike Washington, who I
7:47don't really know from a hole in the ground.
7:51He got an Almanac profile. By the way, you can still get the first edition of the Almanac at harrisfootball.com.
7:58If you get it now, you can read it all up, and then there's an update coming on September 4th, right before Labor Day weekend.
8:08In Washington's Almanac profile... I mean, I'll just read it to you.
8:12The comp that I gave him after looking at Matt Waldman's information on Washington, and then a few other draft sources as well, the comp was Latavius Murray.
8:23Isn't that just like Laxatives Murray? I have no idea.
8:26Maybe. It's possible that was the comp I gave him, Robotalia.
8:30The guy is 6'2 and 228 pounds. His profile pre-Gente injury read like this.
8:36This Mike Washington guy fills out a uniform. He's huge and rocked up.
8:41He transferred to the University of Arkansas for his final year of college and did a 1,300-yard season for a 2-10 team
8:49against SEC defenses, and he destroyed his underwear Olympics by running 4-3-3, fastest among any running back, at 228 pounds.
8:56It's like I always say, F-B-M-M-W. Fast behemoths make mouths water.
9:00Of course, I don't know these prospects from Adam, so I naturally ask myself, if this guy's closest physical comparison as a
9:09prospect is literal Adrian Peterson, why did every NFL team pass on him multiple times, and why did he last until the fourth round?
9:18He has elite breakaway speed and elite power. And while nobody will mistake his quickness for Jamal Charles, there are apparently runs
9:26on his college tape where he ran zone and changed directions effectively.
9:30So what's the rub? First off, every evaluation I read complained about Washington running too upright.
9:36He doesn't get low, he doesn't drive through tackles, and he doesn't keep his knees pumping.
9:42He finishes runs okay because he's so big, but he can't really hide behind his linemen and has a hard time shedding tacklers.
9:51That's why laxatives Murray seemed like a possible comp for Washington.
9:55Murray was an absolute Adonis and ran very fast.
9:59He had a couple of thousand-yard, double-digit touchdown seasons, but he was a better athlete than football player.
10:05The other concern with Washington is ball security. He had four fumbles with Arkansas in 2025 and seven with New Mexico State in 2024.
10:14But a huge fast guy who's a little upright and a little stiff can theoretically learn ball security, and while he's almost
10:23certainly not going to be AP, maybe he could be Chris Carson?
10:27Washington should have time to learn. He lands with the Raiders behind Ashton Gentey, who is top five in running back snaps, played, and touches as a rookie.
10:38Maybe Washington immediately lessens Gentey's load a little bit, especially in close quarters.
10:43The other alternatives are guys like Dylan Lobb and fullback Connor Hayward.
10:47And should Gentey get hurt? Right now, you'd assume big old Mike Washington and his python arms would get a chance.
10:55Oh boy, we may be getting that chance. Maybe he will.
10:59And I will update Washington's rank as well when I do Gentey's, which I assume is probably coming in a matter of hours.
11:08All right. Next up, let's pour one out from one of our longtime favorites.
11:13That's right. Nick Chubb, one of the best running backs in the league over the five-year period from 2018 to 2023.
11:21He retired over the weekend. A dude who brought us so much fun on the show.
11:27We had so many mixtapes devoted to him. Clearly, that catastrophic knee injury meant that he would never be the same.
11:35Guy's still only 30, but he's spent the past three seasons in the wilderness trying to recapture the old glory.
11:42We'll always remember Chubb for amazing draft day values.
11:46He always stood in opposition to the knucklehead analysis who just make up rules about how, well, you know, you can't be
11:54a good fantasy back if you don't catch 50 passes.
11:58The same folks who stand on a soapbox and say, well, you're just wrong.
12:03If you don't draft a running quarterback, you're wrong.
12:06Great players break rules. And around here, we all know Nick Chubb was a great player.
12:12And since I played that little snippet, I got a taste for it.
12:17How about one of these? Today's mixtape. It is time appropriate because I am talking to you in the middle of the
12:25pound foolish book tour as the sun comes up over Seattle.
12:29This one, this mixtape is a collab, as the kids say.
12:34My in real life good pal Josh Van Blankenship has made another banger.
12:38In this case, it was Dave Leonard who got the ball rolling with some lyrics and the idea.
12:45I think you're probably going to know the song.
12:49It's based on Josh and Dave. I appreciate it.
12:52Remember, you can still help the cause. You can still preorder pound foolish.
12:57My new novel published by my own very stupid company, cumulative press.
13:01How many times in August have you heard me say that you could preorder it and you meant to do it and then you forgot?
13:11Well, this mixtape is your kick in the pants.
13:14To go preorder, you can find the links in today's show notes or at harrishopeball.com.
13:20As Josh sings here, meaning is where you make it.
13:24Let's make some meaning. Let's play it. Here we go.
13:27Paperback Writer Human Impressions World's and Possles Will you read my book?
13:32It took a year to write So will you have a look?
13:36It's based on a game that's going to something more And yes, I've got a job But I want to be a
13:45paperback writer Human Impressions It's a dirty story of a dirty league With some murder and some social commentary Adding a thousand
13:53stubs will give or take a few But it doesn't matter Cause I'm gonna be a paperback writer Today's kickoff Okay, on
14:01today's show, let's talk busts, shall we? It's that time of the preseason When we go negative We got busts for 2026
14:09on the show today With this gentleman Christopher Harris, it's me That's right, it's me It's Patrick Doherty An original cast member

14:51drinking And Z-Biotics was actually a subject of conversation in Tacoma Yesterday, my wonderful host Sam Basically repeated the talking points To
14:59our friends at poker I barely needed to say a word I personally am now to the point Where I just don't
15:07drink alcohol without pre-alcohol From Z-Biotics When we drink alcohol it gets converted in the gut To a toxic byproduct And that's
15:15what makes us feel not so great in the morning Make pre-alcohol the first drink of your night It attacks that byproduct
15:24Before it can get downstream in your bod I feel my best in the morning It is pretty incredible I recommend giving

15:57Too prickly of a personality Charlie Day Ringo Starr Mr.
16:00Also Important at Roto World Welcome Pat Doherty Too prickly of a personality It is, in fact, Patrick Doherty You can find
16:09him all over the socials As the elderly people say Just look up Roto Pat or Pat Doherty You can find his
16:17work on Roto World You can listen to him on the Roto World Many, many podcasts And basically yuck it up a
16:25little bit with Denny Carter How are you, Pat?
16:29Very good All over the socials Just not any of the socials The young people use Right Not on TikTok Not on
16:37Instagram Not on Bebop No, definitely not on Bebop Yeah I actually might sign up for that one But Yeah Hopefully that's
16:45not real, by the way I'm on Instagram And I once again am reminding people That if anyone is like a high
16:53school student And wants like a reference And you go on Instagram Run my Instagram account for the year I did that
17:02last year It was great So like somebody out there If you're a college student too You want like some kind of
17:10letter of recommendation Happy to do it Just email me HeyHarris at HarrisWilber.com Because I don't have time for Instagram Except for
17:18when I'm promoting the book Then I post a little bit All right Well you've been doing the bust list for a
17:26while on this show And it feels like we kind of both reached the apiothesis Or whatever they call it Of goodness
17:35in terms of our bust list I was going over 2025 Holy moly You knocked it out of the park I think
17:43we both did But I was looking at your list Okay Granted the NFL rushing leader Was on your bust list That
17:51James Cook Now hold on Here's though too I mean in fact check you on this When I said James Cook was
17:59going to be a bust I was referring to the English sea captain That he was going to die on one of
18:08his voyages It had nothing to do with James Cook From the Buffalo Bills My mistake That got lost in translation somewhere
18:16My mistake However The other four were Tyra Kill Baker Mayfield Garrett Wilson Caleb Johnson Boom That's very very good My number
18:24five Also not so good I had Bo Nix Which you know medium But like he wasn't a bust But after that
18:32I had Mike Evans RJ Harvey Brock Bowers Xavier Worthy This was a show to Well he got hurt This is a
18:41show to pay attention to When Harris and Doherty get together to crap all over some players Holy moly Nine of ten
18:49Once the record is corrected to my James Cook Proper James Cook So Well as a great scholar once said If you
18:57come on my show and say something smart It makes me look good So I am all aboard Here That's a little
19:05That's a little inside joke Nobody can understand what I just meant by saying that So we're going to do it We're
19:14going to count down It's obviously the order in which we count them down Is extremely important In that it matters not
19:22at all Not even a tiny little bit But anyway Before we do the countdown What do you What do you What's
19:30your philosophy of Of What does bust mean to you I think pretty similar to you Just where Not necessarily going to
19:38have a bad season But then I'm not expecting A return on investment At that current ADP And just More I think
19:47as we know Andrew I'm sure most of your audience knows When we say bust It more means overdrafted Than necessarily a
19:55disaster of a season Although sometimes we probably think that It doesn't necessarily mean We're foretelling a disaster of a season It's
20:03just at that ADP There's not only just one or two decisions I would rather make There's usually like six or seven
20:11decisions I would rather make And it's more like people I'm just not considering at all At their current ADP It's kind
20:20of what I think of When I think of bust Me too Every so often there is one where I'm like Oh
20:28my goodness I think this person stinks And people don't understand That he's bad Not a good person At all I don't
20:36judge them as people Until they do stupid things But Even that Is still an ADP conversation Because like If we all
20:44think a player is bad And he's going in the 16th round He's not a bust You know So You're right Your
20:53definition is correct So Who is your number five bust for 2026?
20:57I think I might be going In Like reverse order Like I'm starting with the bigger names I guess One pains me
21:05Because he was a great loser Go the other way around Do the least first Let's build drama It's Carnell Tate The
21:14one I feel the least Carnell Tate Least secure And The number four overall pick Usually you are expecting something In fantasy
21:22football I'm just not expecting much From Carnell Tate In fantasy football this year I've harped on some things That don't matter
21:30With Carnell Tate Listeners of our show May remember in the spring I just could not stop marveling At the fact That
21:39someone Typically when you go Number four overall Number four overall In the NFL draft As a wide receiver You would have
21:47had A thousand yard season At some point During your college career Or at any point Been the number one receiver On
21:55your own team And I know He's been in A legendary Buckeyes receiver core But The fact that he was not Even
22:03truly dominant In college Always gave me pause Because The Titans now Have Maybe the highest paid Easy button guy In the
22:12entire NFL And Wandale Robinson They're of course Better easy button guys But In terms of players Who are not true Difference
22:20making receivers And are basically there Just to absorb Like low percentage checkdowns Like I don't want to be Fighting for targets
22:28With Wandale Robinson With a struggling Young quarterback And Hyper inaccurate Cam Ward Like are they really Going to get this Cooking
22:36down the field And then Like more anecdotal With Carnell Tate Like typically With like a highly Drafted skill player Like the
22:45local Press corps Cannot Like they They tweet Every catch Like it's the biggest Development in the History of the franchise Like
22:53Like this is changing Everything Like The 62 yard reception In an unpadded Practice by Carnell Tate I've never seen anything Like
23:01this From someone in a Titans uniform And he's at a very Quiet Like hype free Training camp Not that I'm Saying
23:09like That Oh my god He's going to be Terrible But No Yeah For me to be Adjusting My pre-existing Skepticism On
23:18Carnell Tate I would At least be Having to get Some breathless Hyperbole Out of Titans Camp Or Just not getting Very
23:26low Wattage camp From Carnell Tate But the Titans Aren't a particularly Well covered team Maybe that has Something to do With
23:34it But I just don't Really see When you're The top five Wide receiver Usually you're Going to be A top 36
23:42Fantasy guy No matter what I think Carnell Tate Will be outside The top 36 The top 36 Have not been Considering
23:51drafting Him this summer Yeah and this is Your number five And I understand That it's It's hard to get Like crazy
23:59Passionate about Whatever it is You know A seventh Sixth or seventh Round pick But still The opportunity Cost of taking Tate
24:07where you Have to take him Is somebody else That you trust more And I do understand That Waldman loves him So
24:15much that it's Kind of brainwashed Me a little bit And I'm I could find Myself being in line But there hasn't
24:24Really been any buzz About him That is No it's just A very very quiet Training camp For someone with His draft
24:32pedigree I do feel like That is notable I also Of course could be The kind of thing October 1st Like I
24:40probably Shouldn't have cared About that Yeah but we don't Know beforehand Yeah we don't know Beforehand My number five We'll just
24:48get a Tight end out of the way I would love to put Kyle Pitts on here Because that everybody But hey
24:57the thing is Everybody knows That's how I feel About Kyle Pitts So Kyle Pitts Is really the name But I'll just
25:05say A different tight end I'll say Dalton Kincaid I know he's He's a top 100 player So again The opportunity cost
25:13Is just of not Taking another Top 100 player He's tight end 11 I believe In live drafts Maybe something like that
25:21And once again The Buffalo Beat Reporters are Brainwashing everybody You don't understand This is the time This one is real No
25:30I'm serious No this one You won't believe How much a bigger Offense last year Wait I'm touching My fictional earpiece And
25:38being told It's the same guy I just I'm not going to do This again with Dalton Kincaid I don't think You
25:46need to I get that You know Basically there's Just many many Other tight ends That when I wait At tight end
25:54I'm going to take Ahead of Dalton Kincaid We know tight end Can be a slow Developing position But it's not Supposed
26:03to be If you're First round pick He's turning 27 Years old this fall Yeah I think he's A pretty sensible Case
26:11where Along the lines Of what you were Just saying If he were going To be really good If he were going
26:19To be an asset In fantasy football We would probably Know by now After these three years And the acute Need for
26:28like Reliable targets They've had the past Few years Where they've just Been really short On pass catchers And he still Couldn't
26:36carve out A bigger role I mean he was Hurt last year Under 40 receptions Last year For a third year First
26:44round pick Is pretty pretty rough And I agree with you He just seems Doomed to remain A role player Like a
26:52role player Who plays more than 50% of the snaps But I just don't see That next level Coming for Dalton Kincaid
27:01In fantasy football And of course Real football as well Maybe he maxes out As a guy who can Catch 50 passes
27:09Up the seam And that helps The bills I just don't think It helps us enough In fantasy football My standard take
27:17On Dalton Kincaid Is if it were Going to happen We would know by now That's how I feel too Who's your
27:25number four Number four Javante Williams You know Not to Like pile on Because I don't Think anyone Even like People who
27:34love Javante Williams In fantasy They're not like Drafting him As like the linchpin Of their team You know No Even if
27:42you're Like a big Javante booster He's like Your solid RB2 But Javante If I were the Dallas Cowboys Rather than Running
27:50it back With like The successful Javante Williams Experiment They ran last year He felt to me Like the classic Just find
27:58the next Javante Williams Instead of giving that Javante Williams 24 million dollars Or whatever it is They gave him The 1200
28:07yards Felt like the Outlier to end All outliers But the biggest Problem for me With Javante Williams He's just Such a
28:15poor Pass catcher Like stunningly Inefficient As a pass catcher I think this time It might actually Count with Jaden Blue Or
28:23Jaden Blue Last year Total fantasy Manager creation Like he was Someone we just Wanted to Not we Lots of fantasy Analysts
28:31did not Want to But a lot of Fantasy analysts Including myself Wanted to connect The dots Like the Cowboys Really need
28:40this Third down back Like that's all Jaden Blue even Profiles to do Like it would make Too much sense For this
28:48to happen Like it basically Has to happen But the Cowboys Themselves were telling Us all summer Like he's not ready Like
28:56they were not Hyping Jaden Blue At all Talk about a guy Who had no Camp hype last year From his own
29:04team This year it's the Exact opposite Fantasy managers Got burned so bad They don't want To deal with it But the
29:13Cowboys Coaching staff Cannot stop Heaping praise On him I think they want That third down Compliment really Badly And I think
29:21Jaden Blue Was cut into Javante Williams Maybe more than Is currently Appreciated And I just don't Think Javante Is that explosive
29:29Of a guy Like really Really good Like talk about A guy stepping Up last year But I just I'm not trying
29:37To run back Javante Williams Is 2025 As an RB2 This year And I'm Full fading Javante Williams Chris Yeah If Jaden
29:46Blue Is really a thing And I mean Even if he's like Last year's Trivion Henderson Because he's a Fast guy And
29:54big play And just You know Gets Gets kind of like Open field work It's going to be A real problem For
30:02Javante That's fair I'm pretty much On Javante At his ADP I'm okay In the third round On him I understand though
30:10That it's not As exciting Like Like You know There's just Certain roster builds If I've gone Conservative If I'm going to
30:19Go conservative Then I want to Take a bigger shot At RB2 And not The kind of like Safe You know Line
30:27drive Single over Shortstop Kind of Idea To mix sports Are you concerned At all Because After What day Was this I
30:35guess it was Saturday Was the Exhibition game And the Beat reporters Came out of that One saying Oh Malik Davis Is
30:43the RB2 Do you feel That to be Just smoke At this point I mean Even if it's Not So here's My
30:52main problem With Javante Williams Even if the Jaden Blue thing Doesn't develop I just I feel like That was Javante Williams
31:00At his absolute Peak last year I think they're Going to have To get someone Else involved As a pass Catcher Like
31:08he Contributed Quite literally Like nothing As a pass Like I know We know Yards per catch Yards per carry I think
31:16he was Under four yards Per catch Which like I don't even Know how That's possible And I don't Have ever seen
31:25A less efficient Receiving season From a running Back So even if We get Rug pulled Yet again On Jaden Blue I'm
31:33prepared For it to happen For whatever reason Not really sure I didn't have to Make that choice At all And I
31:41did I think that Is coming For Javante Williams I still think Jaden Blue Will become a Thing But even if He
31:50does not Even if it is Just Malik Davis Again I'm still not In on Javante Williams As a high end RB2
31:58I just I've got to Think bigger As a high end RB2 And like RB16 17 range Than Javante Williams This is

33:12are Counting down Our busts For 2026 And my Number four I have Josh Downs Just not Liking the RDP RDP ADP
33:20I've Just You have A new Accent Chris I've Got a Or just Got a New Acronym I think There's I think
33:29There's a Misconception About what Josh Downs Is He's a Really fun Fast Player He's really Tiny And I Think he Gets
33:37hurt When you Give him Through Training Camp That Everybody Just Goes Well I Guess He's The One I mean He's Not
33:45Being Really Treated As A One But He's Going Like 88th In Real-time Drafts Which Seems High to Me I'm Checking Actually
33:53Right now It's a Little Lower Than That Now I Find It's Kind of Like What You Were Saying With Javante Even
34:02If You Think It's Believable That The Production Could Justify The Round That You Take Him In You Just Really Not Building
34:10In That Much Ceiling Don't You Want To Potentially Hit A Home Run With Your First Reserve Receiver Or Your Last Flex
34:18Receiver In A Way I Just Don't Think Josh Downs Can Hit Not Only Y Here And Downs Gets To Be In
34:26The Slot Because I Just Don't Think He Can Play Anywhere Else Short Passes Are Going To Be Also Keenan Allen's Thing
34:35And Then Eventually I Think Alec Pierce Probably Comes Back And If Not They're Going to Have To Find An X And
34:43Play An X Somewhere And Josh Downs Career He's Been Very Solid He's Been Nothing More Maybe Sometimes Less And Just As
34:51I Was Kind Of Saying With Kate I Think If It Were Going to Happen We Would Probably Know By Now And
34:59I Do Like The Downs Profile But Talk About A Small Guy Who Just Gets Banged Basically Anytime He Takes A Hit
35:08Seems Like He's Banged Up Like You Were Saying And I Do Think Or Even If They Do Give Him A Chance
35:16To Expand What He Does Give Him A Shot At Fantasy Ceiling Basically Can He Really Stay On The Track Record For
35:24These Guys His Size Is So Checkered I Really Like Josh Downs As A Player I Kind Of Number Three Is Everyone's
35:32Favorite RB1 Apparently Omarian Hampton He's My Number Two So Let's Just Have It Out Right Now Where I Don't Get It
35:41At All He Looked Just Big And Slow As A Rookie Two Discreet Separate Injuries Which Some People Used To Explain Why
35:49His Rookie Year Was Bad I Always Think It Is Year He's Too Small To Be Like Devin Achan 2.0 Or Whatever
35:57But I Do It It's Not Like It's Fake That Mike McDaniel Pounded The Table For Him He Was Mike McDaniel's Free
36:05Agent Priority They Gave It To Him He's Going To Be A Part Of The Back Field So I Just Don't See
36:14The Three Down Thing Happening For Marian Hampton They Like There's Such A They Have The Enduring Offensive Line Problems Of Course
36:22The New Highly Paid Center Is Already Injured Supposedly Marian Is A Bad Fit For The Kyle Shanahan Style Blocking Scheme And
36:30Just The Guy Who I Wasn't Super High On As A Rookie Then Was Bad As A Rookie I Know He's Hurt
36:38I Don't Really Know Why I Would Adjust My Prior I Don't It Happening With Marian Hampton I Would Love To Hear
36:47You Reinforce This With Even Better Points Than Me Chris I Mean The Audience Has Heard Us This Draft Position For A
36:55Long Time It Is Of Anything On The Board It's The Closest Thing To Wish Casting It's Super Shocking He's Going Ahead
37:03Of Just Like Warhorse Veterans Like Similar Young Players I Would Say With More Upside Yeah And Who Done It I Mean
37:12He's The Only Dude That You Could Point To That's Going Anywhere Near What I Mean It's He's Going Something Like 13
37:20To 18 Overall Yes And There's Quite Literally Literally Nobody Ahead Of Him Who's Never Done It Before It Just Seemed What
37:28Why I Mean I Have 17 Among Running Backs And I Did Not Know Anything About His ADP When I Made My
37:36Ranks I Don't Look At ADP Until Last Week And Of He Hurt And It Was Kind Of Just An Unworkable Situation
37:45Of Course I Accept It It's It's Predicting Sports If We Could All Predict Sports We'd All Live In Much Bigger Houses
37:53Than We Do Like We're Guess But My Guess From Having Watched Him Play Is You Know It's So Funny That You
38:01Say Ponderously Slow I Agree On Tape And Yet The People Who Don't Believe That Will Say Yeah But I Saw His
38:0940 Time Supposedly He Was A lot More Explosive In College Maybe The Slowness The Ponderousness Last Year Was Injury Related Could
38:18Be The Older I Get To The Less I Accept He Was Hurt As Excus Away Anything But Therefore Why Would Anybody
38:26Be Excusing It Away Your Default Position Shouldn't Be Well He Stunk And He Got Hurt A Plus I Think He's Going
38:34To Be Great Like If Saquon Stunk And Got Hurt One Year You'd Go Well I've Seen Him Be The Best Player
38:42In Football Like Three Different Times So I'm Just Believe He Can He Can Do It Again It's A Possibility Whereas Yeah
38:51The Hampton Early Second Round Thing Is Just Don't Like There's No Reason It Yeah I'm Sorry To I Think It's Almost
38:59Unprecedented In Fantasy Football For A Guy To Have The Rookie Or He Did And For His ADP To Increase Just Based
39:07On That Would Be Good But To Have That Rookie Year Terrell Davis By The Way To Have That Rookie Year And
39:15Have Your ADP Increase I Really It's More Than Anything This Summer Has Made Me I I Don't Like Doing It But
39:24I'm Going To Have To Say Malik Neighbors I Mean He's Not On My List But Talk About A Guy Where The
39:32Case Kind Makes Itself Yeah This Is Nothing Personal You Know This Is Just He's He's Still It's It's August 24th They're
39:40Like Pretty Soon He's Not Going To Have The Non Contact Jersey On I Mean Okay It Could It Could All Be
39:48Part Of The Perfect Plan In Which Everything Was Always Accelerated And And He Was Perfectly Ready To Go And One Of
39:57Those Test Cases Where The Knee Healed Faster And It And There Are Other People Who Are Like Well Sorry I Pick
40:05In The Middle Of Second So I Want Him So I Got To Take Him And Of Course Once Again I Can't
40:13See The Future It's Predicting Sports He Could Be Great But I Just Think You're Trying To Build That Matrix Of Likelihoods
40:21And Possibilities And Really Talking About That But It Should Be Factored In There Has To Be Some X Percent Chance That
40:30Neighbors Is Knee Isn't Right He's Not Himself All Year Or He Starts To Get Swelling Or You Know He He'd Be
40:38A Borderline First Round Pick For Me Even With Jackson Dart He's A Terrific Player But I Can't Possibly Spend A Second
40:46Round Pick On Him Neighbors Is The First Guy I'd Be I'd I'd I'd I'd I'd I'd Do Drafts Mostly Just Like
40:54Make Sure I Stay Plugged In And I Was Taking My Neighbors Because I Had Seen So Many Times Where Coaches It
41:03Just Seemed Like A Class Situation To Where A Coaching Staff Was Being Intentionally Cagey Pointlessly Cagey And Vague Because He Got
41:11Hurt Last Week Four Typically Ready For The Following Week One Follow Up Surgeries You know They're Concerning But They're Not At
41:19All Unprecedented With Something Like A Torn ACL I Believed All Along Malik Neighbors Would Be Ready For Week One To Your
41:27Point Now It's Actually A Little Less Clear Than It Was A Few Month Ago We Know We Won't Be On The
41:36Pup List So We Know They Expect Him Back In September It's Not Entirely Clear When I Almost Feel Less Confident In
41:44His Health Now Than I Did In The Early Summer And But You Hit One Of The Most Important Points It's Not
41:52Just The Knee Like It Would Be Great If The Only Concern Were The Torn ACL But Not At All Sold On
42:00The Second Year Quarterback Everything But This Giants Team Unfortunately It's Kind I Really Hope That Works Out For You Guys Can't
42:09Say Then I Leave I Gotta Go I Get In My Car And Leave Really Hope That Works Out For You Guys
42:17And It Just Feels Like The League's Most Over The Hill Coaching Staff To Me I'm Just Kind Of Expecting A Disastrous
42:25Giant Season And It Love Me Too I Haven't Taken Him At All In August I Will Say That I Have Him
42:34On Some Teams But Now With Things Really On The Line Drafting The Teams I'm Going To Manage This Year I Have
42:42Not Drafted Him And In A Couple Of Days Let's Take Him At 22 You Know I Do That Part That Is A Hardball Thing Hardball Is Mr.
42:52Annoying Injury Guy Not Maybe As bad As Sean Payton Or Pete Carroll Once Was But You Very Rarely Will Get A
43:01Reliable Injury Update From John Harbaugh I'll Say And Like I Just Want Everybody To Understand This Really Isn't Anything Against Malik
43:09Neighbors Skill Set Ability Career Prospects The Trajectory That Only Positive Thing Neighbors Is At Least The Guy I I Was Hanging
43:17Out At The Reading Last Night One Of The Very Kind Yacht Possum Said Man You're In Pretty Good Shape That Was
43:25Very Kind I Made Had That Feeling Of Plateauing In Your Workouts If You Just Have A Tough Time Keeping Up A

43:42Mind Keeping Things Fresh Preventing You From Getting Bored Showing You Videos Of Proper Form For Exercises For Keeping Records Of Your
43:50Progress Fit Is Just Wonderful For Okay We're Back With Pat And We're Getting Down To The Bottom Of The List Pat
43:58We're At Your Number Two Bust Who You Got Feels Like Kind Efficient As A Rookie Is What I Meant To Say
44:07They Worked So Hard To Make Him A Thing Instead He Led To The Latest Revival Of Travis H Ann's Career Formerly
44:15Travis Et I Had Some Listeners Say Why Do You Keep Saying Travis H Ann It's Because He Said That's How He
44:23Wants His Name Pronounced For The Record Everybody I Feel Like The Jags Wanted Tootin To be A Thing Anything Like This
44:31I Feel Like You Can Laugh Off Kind Of The Liam Cohen Chris Rodriguez Thing But He Did Give A Guy That
44:40He Has A Track Record With Familiarity With Over Six Million Guaranteed I Think It Will Be A Thing On Early Downs
44:48The Quint Allen Seemed Like He Was Going To Be A Thing On Passing Downs He Hurt Now I Don't Know If
44:56He Is Be Ready For Week One He Was Supposed To Be So Explosive Basial Tootin He Was Very Explosive In College
45:04As Told Just Wasn't At All As A Rookie The Upside Case Is Very I Understand Why Very Smart People Lots Of
45:13Best Ball Luminaries Have Connected The Dots On Basial Tootin But Like I Said Earlier I Do I Paige I Don't Have
45:21Him Terribly Below His ADP But I Haven't Below His ADP And For Running Back Like In The Fifth Sixth Rounds It's
45:29Unusual For To Below ADP Because I Want To Draft Running Backs You Know And So I I I I'm Looking For
45:37A Reason One player like this you in in hampton and tootin you've absolutely nailed two players who we were told crushed
45:46their under underwear olympics crushed the metrics bros they met you know they metrics bros led them to be way overvalued as
45:54rookies and now they're hanging on despite bad rookie years um it's just so easy to fade these dudes just so easy
46:02these guys who are probably better athletes than they are football players the reason they both looked slow i'm sure if we
46:10got a foot race like they'd probably outrace most people in the nfl but the reason they look slow not you the
46:19reason they look slow is because they can't find a place to run it's not all just about running in a straight
46:27line you have to there's actually got to be ability and i haven't seen it out of either one of them um
46:35andy barons and i did a tootin review on the yacht club back in the winter and we were we went in
46:43with open mind like let's just see and he didn't stink but both of us came away like it's like it seems
46:52like a vision problem it seems like a not knowing how to watch a play develop and then go where you're supposed
47:00to go which is i think a hard thing for someone to just learn to just pick up and it seems like
47:08that's like the basis of the instinct you need to be a running back do you know what i mean i do
47:16that's that's known as the miles sanders corollary like you're not gonna learn that you're never gonna learn that if you haven't
47:25i agree and it's and and again you know tootin became the goal line option last year and so i understand that
47:33case but why would you be rostering chris rodriguez if he wasn't going to be your goal line guy he's a monster
47:41he's weighs 20 something more pounds than basial tootin like i i think it's probably a split i don't think that's the
47:50doom that that doesn't mean tootin's doom because they're all splits every i mean brian robinson and john robinson are probably a
47:58split to some degree like that's the nfl now we're gonna have to live with that but i just don't think tootin
48:06is really all all that or hasn't shown to be special enough to be the one that when he's in a 70
48:1430 split it doesn't matter because he's so talented that on a per touch basis he's still going to make his nut
48:23like i just maybe maybe hampton same thing maybe these we're just wrong and they're going to produce much better film than
48:31they did last year but the film last year was bad yeah there's this there's so many better guys i'd rather take
48:39the upside shot and i feel like sometimes he gets grouped in bucky irving did have a considerably higher adp last year
48:47than tootin i shouldn't try to make that false comparison but instead of taking basial tootin but i just take actually good
48:56basial tootin travion henderson who actually did put some explosiveness on film as a rookie and has some very glaring issues but
49:04actually did produce as a rookie and i think i think the upside i think a step forward case is so much
49:12more straightforward for travion henderson than basial tootin and instead the cases i feel like are kind of reversed amongst fantasy football
49:20luminaries but very smart people who i respect deeply are like orienting like their entire seasons around tootin and it does make
49:29me nervous i mean what the moment you say they're best ball bros i go yeah no not that's luminary i think
49:37best bow is a very best ball is a very wimpy sport to play no it's i respect the hell out of
49:45best bar bro not even like saying that's a joke i really do but they they have different stuff at play than
49:53we do of course i mean they have pure upside cases only that's the whole point is they don't have to ever
50:02ever measure downside which makes it really dumb that we let redraft adp be touched by best ball because it's different criteria
50:10it's don't best ball my redraft exactly and and by the way i have tootin and henderson basically right next to each
50:18other really really really close to each other and neither of whom i'm going to draft so we'll just leave it there
50:26that's fair we'll just leave it there um so my number two was hampton so who is your number one bust it's
50:35it's a university of missouri i believe you said it was you know it's my entire university i was gonna say we
50:43had such promise and upside but we never did luther burden the guy he always reminds me of is percy harvin like
50:51i maybe it's like not a one-to-one comparison but rugged guys who want to do damage over the ball who invite contact
50:59who don't know what they don't just want to do damage yards after the catch wise they want to do damage like
51:08to the deep they want to like run into guys and try to hurt them and then instead get hurt and so
51:16my first thing with luther burden is maybe veering like a little too much into injury prone no say it i think
51:24it's a missouri tiger fan i watched every game he played in college he takes too much contact like i don't think
51:32he's injury prone in the sense that he's more susceptible to random soft tissue injuries i think he's injury prone because he
51:41invites contact i watched him limp off the field there's too many times at mizzou it happened again as a rookie it
51:49has now happened in training camp so of course that makes this a little maybe tenuous of a bust prediction since he
51:57is now hurt now he's highly questionable for week one but to me this was obvious even before he got hurt like
52:05now he's already reinforcing all my priors and even if he's healthy like how good is the fit truly like caleb williams
52:14so inaccurate i like the short to intermediate throws i guess he's getting better like will the bears truly pass enough i
52:22guess they did last year um the target competition is a little less than it was with dj morgan but you have
52:30a rising star in colston loveland roman dunsey who knows what's going on there burden's just a too many variables guy to
52:38me with the number one being i cannot trust him to stay healthy like it's year two in the nfl for me
52:47this is year five of watching luther burden and i i just see a guy who i do not trust to finish
52:55games let alone seasons and that really is my number one problem with luther burden i just the way he plays the
53:03game i feel like is what makes him injury prone not some like bad luck of the genetic draw where his hamstring
53:12pulls more often or whatever the way he plays the game i feel like makes luther burden injury prone and i just
53:20cannot have fantasy seasons riding on luther burden the the injury this summer definitely saved people from themselves because he was headed
53:28toward the third round he was i think just totally totally nuts totally yeah nuts fully nuts he goes back to back
53:36with davante adams right now i mean i get that adams has his own all the whole other range of problems there's
53:45no question there's risk with davante adams but who has the upside case between davante absolutely the burden come on i just
53:53saw it i got i can get 12 one-yard touchdowns if everything works out right with davante adams i'm taking adams a
54:01hundred times out of a hundred and i have i've had adams a rated ahead of burden all spring and summer and
54:09i still do and so i'm on the agreeing side of that with you and i picked kind of an injury guy
54:18too except for my number one except for it doesn't seem like anybody believes the injury is real i have jeremiah love
54:26at at my as my number one bust he's rb 13 or 14 he has a high ankle sprain what are we
54:34talking about here early third early third round it's like everybody just decided that they take they they took the injury blurb
54:42and they just they put white out on their computer monitor over the word high chris so now i don't know if
54:51you understand the season's starting late this year all right he's got four extra days to heal he essentially has a broken
54:59ankle which is what a high ankle sprain is and people are like oh no this is nothing he's great he's fine
55:07his his adp is not budging based on this injury at least luther burden went down around i i'm just shocked about
55:15jeremiah love that people are i don't even think he plays week one probably and how many times like brian thomas has
55:24a high ankle sprain misses a month last year and he's a wide receiver not a running back and then comes back
55:32and can you know he's just he's in pain the entire rest of the year i get not one person's injury doesn't
55:40make another person's injury but this is a serious injury a ankle sprain is not an ankle sprain it's a joke i
55:48believe it was rivers mccown your very own who who put on blue sky prepare yourself for the lowest high ankle sprain
55:57in league history and that is absolutely what we've gotten and i think it's crazy and of course i'm already predisposed to
56:05disavow most rookie running back hype and i get that love is generational because generations we're calling him the gypsy moth because
56:13every gypsy moths you know every year is generation for gypsy moths so congratulations jeremiah i love you're the gypsy moth and
56:21i think he'll be great eventually but i don't think you should be taking him early third this year so yeah in
56:30our modern media social media environment generations do last no longer than nine months for the record he is generational rivers got
56:38just proven immediately because and a first ever for the nfl they immediately admitted it was a high ankle sprain so normally
56:46they do the song and dance like it might be high it might be low there's really no way to say and
56:54the fact that this came out admitted it was very bearish before the injury you know i thought the adp was shockingly
57:03low me too how often do you get a number three overall running back and they're not even going in the top
57:1112 at running back like that just doesn't happen in fantasy football period it was restraint it was admirable people like oh
57:19you know boy we got burned by genti we got burned by almost everyone who we've taken the shot on so we're
57:27going to calm down it's the cardinals so we're going to calm down and then they they did not stay calm so
57:36i to use the word generational i kind of thought it was a generational buying opportunity for an rb2 like this is
57:44a guy who normally be a top five or six running back and i'm getting him more like top 13 or 14
57:52i have not been forced to go on the oh that's not true i've done a few drafts since he got hurt
58:00but he hasn't he hasn't been like in the mix for me yet where i had to like truly make the decision
58:09i can't sit here and say i wouldn't do it which is really silly because high ankle sprains as you point out
58:17so first off i suffered a high ankle sprain you the first thing they told me when they got back my x-rays
58:25where you would have been better off breaking it if you want to know how unideal high ankle sprains are tearing ligaments
58:34in your ankle it's every i mean how many seasons do high ankle sprains ruin every year it's like actually unbelievable does
58:42anyone ever have a normal season after suffering a high ankle sprain because maybe the only saving grace for jeremiah love is
58:50that it did happen in the summer it did happen three weeks before the season started so he'll be the one guy
58:58ever who they actually give six weeks to to heal up but then that still costs him two or three games of
59:07the regular season um and that's a huge chunk of the fantasy schedule a huge chunk for a guy is a high-end
59:15rb2 i agree i think maybe the adp will start to fall but it's hyper hyper risky is the rb13 or 14
59:23well i'm very glad unlike cousin josh last week my cousin who comes on the show every week i'm glad you didn't
59:31pick one of my flag players for your busts because that's always awkward and i've never it's never happened with you and
59:40me doing this for five years and it never happened with josh doing the show for like 11 years until last week
59:48when i endorsed bucky irving at his adp and he unknowingly he didn't know that i had done it he was like
59:56i hate bucky irving i'm not taking him any price so i'm glad that didn't happen um our lists are in today's
60:04show notes and hopefully you enjoyed that conversation and as per usual i understand where you're coming from and agree with most
60:13of your picks and hopefully we both do as well as we did last year you can find pat doherty all over
60:21social media just look up roto pat you can listen to him on the roto world football show and find his writing
60:29also at rotoworld.com and tell me about your your side project because i've read a bunch of the pieces and they're great
60:37i hope folks know about it but are you going to continue writing those in the during the season well see they
60:46might not know about because i haven't done one for like six weeks but uh this is not i'm determined the side
60:54writing project will keep going i know it'll keep going because i actually have a lot of them written still they're just
61:02not posted we've been in crash course the north american sports almanac is what it's called and it was a project basically
61:10designed just to force me to write more that that's really the only actual purpose of the project but i'm basically making
61:19like an encyclopedia for the north american sports franchises with what i don't like 150 200 word write-up on every one of
61:27the 124 north american sports franchises i'm not claiming there's any good reason for this to exist other than i other than
61:35i wanted to do it i love to write i don't write enough i thought it was a fun little project people
61:43have so far enjoyed it i haven't been posting quite enough but they are coming they're going to continue coming fantastic so
61:52make sure you look up that as well i appreciate my friend and of course we'll have you on when we start
