Aaron Jones

NegativeInjury55:29

The source identified Aaron Jones as the big injury of the game; in the beginning of the fourth quarter, Jones threw his helmet in frustration and appeared to be done for the game. However, he surprisingly returned on the next drive, though the source notes this is shocking given his apparent soreness and that the Packers don't want to rely on him as a bell-cow back, having tried to move away from that role over the past two years.

Insight page
NegativeInjury55:29

Source identifies Aaron Jones injury as the big injury of Week 2 game; transcript cuts off before details provided.

Insight page

Aaron Rodgers

NegativeProjection39:39

Aaron Rodgers had 39 pass attempts but took a brutal sack where he got high-lowed and fumbled; the source notes the Patriots were too disorganized to recover the fumble, leading to a fourth-and-43 situation. Rodgers' performance was poor, with panic throws and heavy pressure.

Insight page

Alec Pierce

NegativeInjury9:00

Pierce suffered an injury in Week 2 that the source expects will increase Josh Downs' opportunities in the short term, as Downs becomes the clear best remaining receiver option in the Colts' core.

Insight page
NegativeInjury11:55

Pierce was questionable coming into Week 2 with an ankle/heel injury. He played early in the game and made an 11-yard gain on a comeback route, but soon thereafter appeared to suffer a non-contact injury. He couldn't put weight on the foot in question, limped off, was driven to the locker room, and didn't return. The source indicates it's hard to think he'll play again anytime soon.

Insight page

Bo Nix

NegativeProjection25:25

Nix had not made a single good throw early in the game and threw an insane interception to Cortland Sutton in the end zone; the source characterizes him as 'Botoxic for most of this game,' though he saved himself a little at the end, which is 'kind of the Bo Nix routine.'

Insight page

C.J. Stroud

NegativeMatchup31:17

Stroud faced heavy pressure from Cincinnati's defensive line, particularly from Dexter Lawrence; the Bengals controlled the line and got pressure directly up the gut, preventing Stroud from comfortably stepping into throws; Stroud had 55 attempts, with his stats padded by game script in a losing effort.

Insight page
NegativeProjection34:08

Stroud played pretty well in Week 2 without Nico Collins, showing mobility and scrambling in meaningful spots for rushing yards; however, the source would not use him outside of Superflex when Collins is out.

Insight page

Caleb Williams

NegativeInjury50:58

Suffered a hamstring injury late in Week 2 game against Tampa Bay; source believes it is a hamstring rather than more serious injury like Achilles tear, though source notes uncertainty about severity grade and possibility of Monday afternoon update revealing more serious diagnosis; source expects reserve situation for at least four games.

Insight page

Carson Wentz

NegativeProjection55:54

The source critiques Carson Wentz's arm strength and physical condition, noting that his health meter and stamina meter have not improved; while Wentz had an open receiver on the first drive who could have scored a touchdown, Wentz overthrew him. The source observes that Wentz is 'wily veteraning the hell out of it' but there is 'just nothing left in the arm strength or even really the legs,' and that Kyler Murray will be a 'humongous upgrade' when he takes over.

Insight page

Chase Brown

NegativeUsage30:34

Chase Brown started strong with two big runs and two big lanes; the second run was called back for holding; the source describes it as 'a punishing day for him' where he 'took a lot of punishment' but 'kept getting up' and finished with 82 scrimmage yards despite the difficult game script.

Insight page

Colston Loveland

NegativeProjection55:00

With Tyson Bagent starting due to Caleb Williams injury, source expects Bagent will not be jamming the ball to elite Bears receivers like Colston Loveland, instead distributing across wide expanse of offense; this is bad news for star receiver values.

Insight page
NegativeRole55:04

The source observes that in the Bears offense, the ball is being distributed widely across many receivers rather than concentrated on any single target; Colston Loveland is mentioned as one of several receivers (alongside Luther Bird and Roman Dunze) receiving touches in an expansive offensive scheme.

Insight page

Courtland Sutton

NegativeProjection28:28

Sutton had two end zone targets but only three catches for 25 yards in Week 2; the source says Nix is 'very much not untracked' and advises not to chase Sutton.

Insight page

Dalton Schultz

NegativeUsage32:12

Dalton Schultz's stats were padded by seven catches on the final meaningless drive down 14 points; however, the source gives him credit for a legitimate big play earlier in the game running away from man coverage on a shallow cross for 45 yards, plus a one-handed catch late in the fourth quarter; without the garbage-time catches, Schultz had 5 for 70, and the source cautions that targets may dry up on weeks when the run game works, as in Week 1.

Insight page

Darius Cooper

PositiveRole59:09

Scores the winning touchdown in the Eagles game; however, the source cautions against starting secondary Eagles players in week three despite this performance.

Insight page

David Montgomery

NegativeMatchup32:00

David Montgomery carried six times for 10 yards against Cincinnati's improved defensive line; the source notes 'there was nowhere to go,' indicating the Bengals' defense completely shut down the Houston run game, forcing the Texans to pass 55 times.

Insight page

David Njoku

NegativeInjury66:15

Njoku gave a defender an interception and then suffered an injury in Week 2, limiting his availability going forward.

Insight page

Derrick Henry

NegativeUsage12:48

Henry put together a good game with several carries including a Wildcat snap for a touchdown; the source notes that while Ronnie Staley's toe injury in the third quarter increased pressure on Lamar Jackson, they are not drawing a straight line to say that's why Henry shouldn't be used going forward.

Insight page

DK Metcalf

PositiveBust40:00

DK Metcalf was hounded by Christian Gonzalez for much of the game and dropped multiple passes; on one third-down route where he finally lost Gonzalez and got the target, he promptly dropped it. The source estimates Metcalf might have five or six drops in two games if drop scorers were honest.

Insight page

Drake Maye

NegativeProjection36:06

Maye threw multiple horrendous interceptions in Week 2 against Pittsburgh, including a fall-away deep ball underthrown to Hunter Henry; the source notes he was not doing this regularly last year but has now done it multiple times in multiple games this season, suggesting his estimate should be lowered.

Insight page
NegativeProjection37:15

The source notes Drake May's estimate probably needs to be lowered after four carries for 17 yards in Week 2; the source characterizes the game as not weather-dependent and conservative, with limited production when it mattered.

Insight page

Hunter Henry

NegativeMatchup36:46

Henry was targeted on a horrendous fall-away deep ball from Maye in Week 2 that was way underthrown and resulted in an interception, indicating poor execution on a key play.

Insight page

J.K. Dobbins

NegativeInjury27:07

Dobbins suffered a hamstring injury on Sunday in Week 2, left the game, did not play in the fourth quarter, and will certainly be questionable for Week 3.

Insight page

Ja'Marr Chase

PositiveProjection28:58

Chase was one of the two big guys who paid off in Cincinnati's win; the source notes Joe Burrow was under pressure most of the game but threw great passes under duress, and Chase's touchdown was highlighted.

Insight page
PositiveUsage29:43

Chase scored two touchdowns in Week 2; the first came on a perfect coverage play where he made the catch and spun for the toes tap in the end zone against Derek Stingley; the second came after a wild Burrow scramble where Chase improvised his route, caught the ball, and the source noted 'the throw is great. The catch is even better.'

Insight page

Jalen Royals

PositiveUsage5:58

Jalen Royals scored a short touchdown following a methodical, pass-based drive by the Chiefs in week 2, contributing to the offensive dominance that limited the Colts' third-quarter possessions to just four plays.

Insight page

Jaylen Warren

NegativeRole40:51

Jalen Warren entered the game on the second series after Rico Dowdle's early exit; with Dowdle's toe injury likely to sideline him, the source expects Warren to become more of a full-time job, though he accumulated 77 scrimmage yards with much of that production coming in garbage time when he nearly scored but was held up short.

Insight page

Joe Burrow

PositiveProjection28:58

Burrow was under pressure most of the game, took only two sacks, and made great throws under duress despite feeling like he was going to fumble multiple times; the source credits him as one of the two big guys who paid off in Cincinnati's win.

Insight page

Jonah Coleman

NegativeRole27:16

With R.J. Harvey unavailable, Coleman played in the first half with three screen passes that didn't look electric; in the fourth quarter, the role became his with 15 offensive snaps before kneel-downs and he scored the winning touchdown after Cortland Sutton drew pass interference. The source notes Coleman looked like 'the arithmetic mean' of slow Denver running backs with good power but slow spin moves; he's an obvious add given injuries but not necessarily great.

Insight page

Jonathan Taylor

PositiveRole9:57

The source identifies Taylor as the primary answer for the Colts' offensive production going forward, noting that Taylor can and will get all the work he wants. With the Colts facing an 0-2 hole, they will try to dig out by using Taylor as much as possible, particularly in a difficult Week 3 home matchup against the Texans. The source acknowledges that opposing defenses will know this beginning Week 3, but historically knowing doesn't mean you can automatically stop Taylor.

Insight page
PositiveProjection10:13

Taylor scored two more touchdowns in Week 2 and the source describes him as unimpeachable and a great player. The source emphasizes that if Taylor stays healthy, he's going to be a monster, indicating strong confidence in his fantasy upside.

Insight page

Jordan Mason

NegativeInjury55:43

The source indicates that Jordan Mason will be out for approximately a month, which is why Aaron Jones is expected to be the primary back for the 49ers during that absence.

Insight page

Josh Downs

NegativeRole9:00

The source notes Downs had a couple of good catches outside the numbers and more downfield work than usual in Week 2. While the Colts historically avoid sending him into contested areas where Michael Pittman and Alec Pierce worked, Downs is clearly the best remaining receiver in the current incarnation of the Colts' wide receiver core. Pierce's injury probably increases Downs' opportunities in the shorter term.

Insight page

Justin Herbert

NegativeProjection83:51

Herbert loses McConkie, which will impact offensive production. The source has defended Herbert historically but notes that without McConkie, the offense will struggle more, though Herbert himself is a legitimate talent.

Insight page

Juwan Johnson

NegativeInjury14:13

Johnson was lost on a third and 13 play for the Saints in the first drive after halftime; the source notes this as a notable injury moment in the game, though does not provide further detail on severity.

Insight page

Keenan Allen

NegativeProjection10:27

Allen had one catch for five yards in Week 2 and the source expresses concern about his ability to win on routes, specifically noting he couldn't win on a slant route. The source suggests the cookage (decline) may finally be happening for Allen, indicating skepticism about his fantasy viability going forward.

Insight page

Kenneth Walker III

PositiveProjection7:11

Walker was really good in Week 2, accumulating 100 scrimmage yards before overtime, then adding 50 more in the overtime winning drive. The source notes that if you drafted Walker, it might be one of the coups of the fantasy draft if he stays healthy, indicating strong upside potential.

Insight page

Kyler Murray

PositiveProjection55:54

The source states that Kyler Murray 'definitely is going to be a humongous upgrade' over Carson Wentz for the Eagles offense, implying significant improvement in quarterback play and offensive efficiency.

Insight page

Lamar Jackson

NegativeUsage12:48

Jackson put together a good game with methodical drives and led the Ravens to a 14-3 halftime lead; however, he threw an interception late in the fourth quarter when Bateman either lost his mind or read the play differently, stopping his route. The source does not blame Jackson for the interception. Jackson also got more pressure after Ronnie Staley's toe injury in the third quarter, which did not help the Ravens' offense.

Insight page

Laquon Treadwell

NegativeBust8:21

Despite a strong Week 2 performance—drawing two downfield pass interferences in the first half and making a good deep catch in overtime—the source expresses skepticism about adding Treadwell, citing insufficient trust in the bank despite the positive game film. The source notes Treadwell was a first-round pick 10 years ago who wasn't particularly fast even when young, and while he may appear on waivers, the source is not yet confident in him as a pickup.

Insight page
NegativeRole13:37

Treadwell is mentioned as a potential beneficiary of Alec Pierce's injury, described as a first-round pick of the Vikings from 10 years ago. The source's commentary is cut off, but he's being considered as a possible option to fill the receiving void created by Pierce's departure.

Insight page

Mack Hollins

NegativeUsage36:36

Hollins had two catches for 18 yards in Week 2 against Pittsburgh, which the source describes as shocking and consistent with low expectations.

Insight page

Mark Andrews

PositiveUsage12:48

Andrews had a drop on third down of the first possession but then the checkdown usage to him was really good, finishing 6 for 49 in the second quarter; the source frames this as Andrews being 'back from the dead a little bit' after prior concerns.

Insight page

Marquez Valdes-Scantling

PositiveRole65:04

Valdez-Scantling is on the Chargers roster and is more explosive than Quentin Johnston, positioning him as a potentially better option for the team's receiving corps.

Insight page

Michael Pittman

NegativeRole9:00

The source references Pittman as a historical context point for the Colts' receiver usage patterns, noting that Pittman did a lot of work in contested areas (the dirty areas) where the Colts typically send their receivers, contrasting with Josh Downs' usage pattern.

Insight page

Mike Gesicki

PositiveUsage30:48

Mike Gesicki played only 21 snaps in Week 2 and did not get a single target; the source explicitly warns 'I hope you did not chase too hard after week one,' suggesting Gesicki's Week 1 performance was an outlier and not sustainable.

Insight page

Nico Collins

NegativeRole33:12

Nico Collins was out in Week 2; the source explicitly rejects the narrative that Dalton Schultz 'inherits everything' in Collins' absence, drawing a parallel to the Mike Gesicki situation and cautioning that box score watchers may overreact to Collins' absence.

Insight page

Patrick Mahomes

PositiveProjection2:33

Mahomes showed significant offensive aggression in week 2 against the Colts, throwing 41 times for over 300 yards and firing deep passes four times—a stark contrast to week 1's conservative approach. Despite concerns about post-ACL speed and leg strength, he demonstrated willingness to push the ball downfield and maintain his playmaking style, suggesting he is not being constrained by injury management.

Insight page

Quentin Johnston

PositiveRole28:28

Waddell was a revelation in Week 2; he was the key player in Denver's turnaround, put up big numbers, and played really well on film.

Insight page
NegativeRole62:50

Described as an utterly useless player and monstrosity that the Chargers keep trying to force into lineups; the source argues he is miscast as both a number one and number two receiver, and should only be a role-playing rotational number three deep threat with a very specific role. In the game without McConkie, Johnston could not even get targeted.

Insight page
NegativeRole63:32

Johnston is miscast as a number one and number two receiver; he needs to be a rotational number three deep threat with a very specific role. The source believes he can't be a credible number two receiver, and the Chargers' tendency to push him up the depth chart exposes his limitations as a role player rather than a primary option.

Insight page

Rashee Rice

PositiveUsage3:51

Rashee Rice caught a deep over route in the Chiefs' week 2 offensive explosion, participating in Mahomes' increased vertical passing attack that contrasted sharply with week 1's conservative approach.

Insight page
NegativeProjection8:28

Rice had 83 receiving yards but the source expresses skepticism about the performance. Notably, 31 of his 83 yards came on the final play of regulation when the Colts let him catch and run as the clock expired. The source notes Rice's PPR production hasn't materialized as expected over two years, and he doesn't overcome the source's skepticism the way other Chiefs receivers do.

Insight page

Rashod Bateman

PositiveUsage11:48

Bateman finished 7 for 88 and a touchdown against Baltimore's defense; the source started him in one Flowers league and noted it worked out for the week, though expressed caution going forward if Flowers misses more time, suggesting Bateman's role and target volume may be contingent on Flowers' availability.

Insight page

Rhamondre Stevenson

NegativeUsage36:57

Stevenson had four carries for 17 yards in Week 2 against Pittsburgh, which the source characterizes as worse than Maye's performance; the source notes this was not a weather game and the Patriots were conservative, not getting much production when it mattered.

Insight page
NegativeRole37:15

Ramondre Stevenson fumbled on the third play of the game in Steeler territory and received a harsh rebuke from Mike Vrabel; the source suggests the fumble may have permanently altered his role, as he finished with only 19 snaps versus Travion Henderson's 32, and the Patriots may now lack confidence in his ball security.

Insight page

Rico Dowdle

NegativeInjury40:34

Rico Dowdle started the game with two carries on the first two plays but got a toe injury in the second quarter; he was carted to the locker room but returned for the third quarter before leaving the game permanently. The source believes he's probably going to miss time.

Insight page

Romeo Doubs

PositiveUsage36:26

Dobbs had three catches for 96 yards in Week 2 after Maye scrambled right in his own end zone and laid in a perfect deep ball to him on the Patriots' first drive of the third quarter.

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

NegativeInjury57:08

The source reports that Saquon Barkley was landed on during the very first play of the Eagles-Titans game and immediately left the game, missing the entire first half. Although Barkley somehow finished the game, he said afterwards he would be getting an MRI and 'did not have the appearance of someone who should have returned to that game.' The source also notes that Barkley's injury is further confirmation that the 2024 Eagles are past their Super Bowl peak from the previous year.

Insight page
NegativeInjury58:44

Out for a month; the source notes that fantasy managers will need to unload their FAAB on backup options given the extended absence.

Insight page

Tank Bigsby

PositiveSleeper57:08

The source describes Tank Bigsby as 'maybe the highest upside contingency back in all of fantasy football' and notes that if Saquon Barkley were to miss time, Bigsby would have a far larger dose of carries. However, the source expresses uncertainty about whether Bigsby would truly be an 80% FAB priority if Barkley gets hurt, given that Bigsby did not receive a large dose of carries even with Barkley out in the first half of the Eagles-Titans game.

Insight page

Tee Higgins

PositiveUsage29:07

Higgins caught his second deep dig route of the game in the late second quarter, then had another third down conversion on a short pass that he took for 24 yards.

Insight page
PositiveUsage29:23

Higgins caught his second deep dig route of the game in the late second quarter, converted a third down on a short pass for 24 yards, and added a spinning sideline grab in the fourth quarter on Derek Stingley coverage; the source notes Stingley's coverage was perfect but Higgins made the catch anyway, demonstrating consistent high-leverage production.

Insight page

Tony Pollard

NegativeRole60:17

Had an okay performance in the Titans game; the source does not recommend starting any Titans players in week three despite the team winning.

Insight page

Travis Homer

NegativeRole40:51

Travis Homer got carries after Rico Dowdle's toe injury, but the source expects Jalen Warren to become the primary back rather than Homer getting a full-time role.

Insight page

Travis Kelce

NegativeUsage5:13

Travis Kelce drew 10 targets and caught 6 passes in the Chiefs' week 2 overtime win, continuing his role as a high-volume receiver despite not being a 'burner' anymore. The source notes that any tight end receiving 10 looks qualifies as a top-10 tight end for the week, though Kelce had a difficult over-the-shoulder pass that hit both his hands earlier in the game.

Insight page

Tre Turner

PositiveValue105:13

Turner is not recommended as a target unless you're in a desperate situation, and the source suggests avoiding him even outside of bye weeks.

Insight page

Troy Franklin

PositiveUsage26:04

Franklin had his only catch of the game on a beautiful one-handed grab down the left sideline to get Denver inside the 10.

Insight page

Tyler Warren

PositiveRole8:24

The source notes Warren had five catches for 20 yards in Week 2 but emphasizes that if you have him available in your league, you should feel good about using him every week, suggesting consistent role and opportunity despite modest production in this particular game.

Insight page
NegativeRole12:36

Warren had a play-action touchdown catch on the first drive of the game but only managed five catches for 20 yards otherwise in Week 2. The source suggests that while Warren isn't really the right answer to fill the void left by Pierce's injury, he's not widely available in leagues and should be used every week if you have him.

Insight page

Tyson Bagent

NegativeProjection53:00

Arm strength difference between Tyson Bagent and Caleb Williams is readily apparent; source notes Bagent's throws looked affected by weather conditions in Week 2; if Bagent starts for a few weeks due to Williams injury, source expects Bears offense to revert to pure distribution/pitch-and-catch approach rather than aggressive downfield passing, which crushes all Bears receiver values.

Insight page

Will Shipley

NegativeRole57:08

The source notes that Will Shipley was mixed into the Eagles backfield during the game against Tennessee and was more physical than he has been in the past. The source also humorously notes that Shipley was 'very tan' with 'very tan arms,' making it hard to distinguish which running back had the ball.

Insight page
NegativeRole59:09

Showed more physicality in recent games than earlier in the season, but remains behind Cartavious Chapman in the backup hierarchy; the source makes a humorous note about his tan making it hard to distinguish him from other Eagles backs.

Insight page

Woody Marks

NegativeMatchup31:46

Woody Marks carried eight times for eight yards against Cincinnati's improved defensive line; the source notes 'there was nowhere to go,' indicating the Bengals' defense stuffed the Houston run game entirely, forcing the Texans to abandon the run and rely on passing.

Insight page
NegativeRole33:45

Marks was getting a lot of short yardage work in Week 2, which the source views as mismanagement given David Montgomery's presence on the roster; Marks got ruled short by an inch on a third down attempt.

Insight page

Xavier Hutchinson

NegativeUsage33:27

In Week 2 with Collins out, Hutchinson was closest to being a factor among Texans wide receivers, though no wideout had more than three catches; he had two meaningless heaves overthrown into the end zone at game's end.

Insight page
NegativeUsage33:33

Xavier Hutchinson was closest to being a factor among Houston's wide receivers in Week 2 with Nico Collins out; however, no wideout had more than three catches, and Hutchinson's late-game targets were 'meaningless heaves overthrown...into the end zone,' suggesting limited actual opportunity.

Insight page

Xavier Worthy

PositiveUsage5:50

Xavier Worthy scored a touchdown at the end of an incredibly productive third-quarter drive for the Chiefs in week 2, contributing to the offensive explosion that kept the Colts off the field.

Insight page

Zay Flowers

NegativeInjury11:48

Flowers was out for the Ravens-Saints game; the source notes that the Ravens lost some explosiveness in their offense as a result of his absence and expresses caution about Bateman's value going forward if Flowers misses more time.

0:00It's the Harris Football Podcast with your host, Christopher Harris.
0:04Welcome! Hey everybody, welcome in. My name is Chris and this is a show that is filled with thousands of literary illusions each episode.
0:13Hello there, you tapeworms. Good morning. Thank you so much for listening.
0:18Thank you for being here. Got a really fun show coming your way with a whole bunch of observations.
0:25I want to thank Spectrum Internet and TV for going out in Los Angeles on Sunday, making my job infinitely harder.
0:33That's alright! Just made it a longer night as I caught up on the games.
0:39You're going to hear about 9 games from week 2 on the show today.
0:44That is what we do. I am so happy.
0:48Hopefully you have fun hearing what I saw when I watched.
0:52Of course, I'm guessing you also watched some football on Sunday and maybe you don't agree with all of my observations.
1:00And of course, that's 100% fine. I do my best to say what I think I saw and come up with stuff
1:09that I hope we can apply going forward. Not all of it's going to be right and not all of it will
1:17you agree with based on your own observations. But to me, that's what makes this fun to talk to you.
1:25I want to start today with the Sunday night game, the overtime game.
1:30Five quarters worth of stats. That's never bad. Probably even if we hadn't had overtime, most everybody had paid off in that game.
1:39The Colts hang in there in what felt like a heavyweight fight of offenses that nobody could really stop.
1:46I don't know. The details, which I'll get to, may be less important than the overall takeaways.
1:53All that fretting and worrying about how the Chiefs attacked in week 1.
1:58It was almost exactly the reverse on Sunday night.
2:01And Patrick Mahomes maybe doesn't quite have the speed or the leg strength or the willingness to hang in there that he did before the ACL.
2:11But it's still plenty. And he is certainly not being told to curb his enthusiasm.
2:17Even by the end of regulation, Mahomes had thrown 41 times for over 300 yards.
2:23He fired it down the field, I'd say four times or so, which is about four more times than in week 1.
2:31You had Rashi Rice catching a deep over route.
2:35And then in the third quarter, you had a true hold your breath so high it brings down rain type shot to
2:43Taequann Thornton, where Thornton caught it and got tackled at the 1.
2:48And then on the verge of being stopped in overtime, third and long, Mahomes let it go deep again to Thornton.
2:56Taequann Thornton, who the Patriots whiffed on so bad in the second round they had to get him off their roster.
3:04How would he look now as a deep threat instead of Kyle Williams?
3:09Not good for fantasy, but good for the Chiefs last night.
3:13And so was Mahomes. He stirred the echoes. This wasn't last week's, you know, four-yard pass to Travis Kelsey that Kelsey then
3:22runs a million miles and makes the stats look good.
3:25This was great stuff. Kelsey himself does 10 targets and 6 catches.
3:30Not a burner anymore. You know this. Did have a drop earlier in the game.
3:36Maybe not a drop, but it was a tough one.
3:40It was over the shoulder, but it hit him in both hands.
3:44But any tight end that gets 10 looks is a top 10 tight end every week.
3:50That's it. I don't make the rules. Xavier Worthy at the end of an incredibly good third quarter drive.
3:58He scores a touchdown. Jalen Royals scores a short touchdown after a different methodical, good, mostly pass-based drive.
4:05Between those two drives, the Colts only ran four offensive plays the entire third quarter.
4:10The Chiefs just weren't letting them stop them and were, you know, keeping the clock running.
4:17And it was mostly the short passing game. I don't know for sure that Mahomes does this every week.
4:24Well, I know he didn't do it last week, but now we know he can do it.
4:31And that raises everyone's ceiling for sure. Kenneth Walker was good.
4:35Fine. Really good. Saved his night a little bit with some gains in the overtime winning drive.
4:41But even before that drive had 100 scrimmage yards.
4:45Then he put up 50 more in overtime. Looks really good.
4:49If you wound up with Walker, it might just be one of the coups of the fantasy draft if he's going to stay healthy.
4:58Worthy had a drop late third quarter. Rashi Rice had one with three minutes to go that could have cost Kansas City the game.
5:08But the defense came up with a stop. Rice is just a curious case.
5:13The PPR scam not really happening so far. You're not really getting that stuff that for two years has made him not
5:21that great a player, but just really good for fantasy.
5:25That extension of the run game stuff. 31 out of his 83 yards came on the last play of regulation when the
5:34Colts let him catch it and run it as the clock ran out.
5:39So I can't even get that excited about 83 yards.
5:43So Rice, I don't think quite overcomes my skepticism the way the other guys do.
5:48Mahomes, great night. And the Chiefs have now won two different ways in two weeks.
5:54For the Colts, it's a crusher of a loss to go 0-2.
5:59But they have to feel better about the offense coming out of this game than week one.
6:05Even if they might wind up feeling pretty terrible about the defense because they haven't really stopped anybody yet.
6:13Jonathan Taylor, unimpeachable. Here's hoping he stays healthy. Just if he does, he's going to be a monster.
6:20Two more touchdowns. He's been great because he is great.
6:23He's a great player. Daniel Jones played well. His interception.
6:27Was it his fault? It was a slant to my eldest son, Keenan Allen.
6:33I'm thinking maybe we should play that one, that song, one more time.
6:38Because I'm thinking we might not get to play it all that much anymore.
6:43Carry on my eldest son. I love that one.
6:47I used to love Keenan Allen as a player.
6:50But if he can't win on a slant like that one I was mentioning, what can he win on?
6:57It feels like the cookage may finally be there.
7:01He had one catch for five yards. I'll be at one where he got pretty jobbed for a first down.
7:08But it matters. Keenan Allen matters. The receiving core matters because they're going to have a big void.
7:15Alec Pierce, you know, whether you call it his ankle or his heel, he was questionable.
7:22Let's face it, all summer, he was questionable coming into this game.
7:26He played in this game, made a good 11-yard gain on a comeback route.
7:32But soon thereafter, kind of looked non-contact to me.
7:35Although you never know if there was contact right before we saw it.
7:40Pierce couldn't put any weight on the foot in question.
7:44Limped off, was driven to the locker room, didn't play again.
7:48Hard to think he's going to play again anytime soon.
7:52Which begs the question, is there anyone who can benefit?
7:56Who can benefit enough for fantasy? There's Tyler Warren, who had a play-action touchdown catch on the first drive of the game,
8:04but only did five catches for 20 yards otherwise.
8:08And if you have Tyler Warren, not really the right answer.
8:12It's not available in leagues. You know, you feel good about using him.
8:17You should use him every week. There's Laquan frickin' Treadwill.
8:21A first-round pick of the Vikings, literally, literally, 10 years ago.
8:25Who wasn't really all that fast, even when he was young.
8:29And yet, nevertheless, did seem to be the kind of formational answer to Alec Pierce.
8:35Playing on an island. Playing the X. Getting down the field.
8:39He drew two downfield pass interferences in the first half.
8:43And then in overtime, I'm assuming you've seen that play.
8:47That was a really, really good catch on a deep shot.
8:51And then he fumbled it away at the end of the play.
8:56And seemed like the game was over. But then, pretty lucky, I'm gonna say.
9:01We'll just put it that way. To get it overturned on replay.
9:06I'm sorry, Laquan Treadwell does not have enough trust in the bank for me to be adding him just yet.
9:14But if his name comes up on Tuesday waivers, I'm gonna understand why, of course.
9:20And then Josh Downs. He had a couple of good catches outside the numbers.
9:25And a little more down the field than usual.
9:28The Colts historically do not love sending him into the dirty areas where, you know, Michael Pittman did a lot of work
9:37and Alec Pierce did some work last year. But of the remaining bodies in the wide receiver core, it's just obvious that
9:45Downs is the best player in his current incarnation.
9:49He's not getting a huge bump. But Pierce's injury probably increases Downs' opportunities for me in the shorter term, most of all.
9:57Taylor is actually probably the answer. Taylor can and will get all the work he wants.
10:03And the Colts will try and dig out of the 0-2 hole by using him as much as they can get away with.
10:12And opposing defenses will know this beginning week three in an awful home matchup next week against the Texans.
10:20But usually with Taylor, knowing it doesn't mean you can automatically stop it.
10:25Today's kickoff. Okay, on today's show, we are underway.
10:28It's so great to be talking with you on a Monday morning.
10:33I'm so happy. Lots of games to talk about.
10:36I hope you enjoy it. Coming up, we will have Saints-Ravens, Jaguars-Broncos, Bengals-Texans, Steelers-Patriots, and Seahawks-Cardinals.
10:42We'll do a quick preview of the Monday night game, Giants-Rams.
10:47And then my guest will be Patrick Doherty from Rotoworld.
10:50And Pat and I will talk about three more games that we each watched all the way through.
10:57We'll do Vikings-Bears, Eagles-Titans, and Raiders-Chargers. Thank you so much for listening today.
11:02We are sponsored by FitBod. I have more games to watch today once the show is done, but I absolutely will also be going to the gym.
11:13And FitBod will be right there with me. It's a busy time, but making time for the gym for me is a must.
11:22I'm not trying to run a marathon. I'm not trying to get super swole.
11:27But my goal is just to feel better. Working out is awesome for that.
11:32And FitBod creates a personalized workout routine. The workouts are varied.
11:37They're planned to work certain muscle groups each day.
11:40You don't have to have a ton of equipment or really any equipment.
11:45And FitBod workouts will adapt to your growth. So each session is interesting.
11:50You don't get bored and also challenging enough to make progress.
11:54FitBod really is like having a personal trainer in my pocket, except one year of FitBod costs less than one session with a personal trainer.
12:04FitBod builds the plan. You build the strength. Try the FitBod app for free for seven days and then get 25% off your subscription at FitBod.me.
12:14Could not recommend it more if you're trying to get back into working out.
12:19F-I-T-B-O-D.me. FitBod.me. Game, film, rewind. All right, let's get it going with the Saints going to Baltimore and pulling off an upset
12:28that certainly did not look likely late in the third quarter.
12:32No Zay Flowers and the Ravens did lose some explosiveness in their offense as a result.
12:38But they were putting in a workman-like effort and kind of on offense didn't really do that much wrong.
12:46Lamar Jackson put together a good game. Derrick Henry, a good game.
12:50Rashad Bateman until the end, pretty good. Mark Andrews, back from the dead a little bit.
12:56A drop on third down of the first possession.
13:00But after that, the check down stuff to him was really good.
13:05It was there to the tune of 6 for 49.
13:08In the second quarter, Tez Walker was being interfered with but grabbed a 50-yard bomb anyway.
13:15But the Ravens got their field goal blocked on that drive.
13:19Bateman earlier caught a deep out to get himself going and that led to several Henry carries including a Wildcat snap for his touchdown.
13:28At the end of the first half, Lamar Jackson put together a methodical drive.
13:33Led to Bateman scoring on a laser shot to the post, making it 14-3.
13:39But then the Ravens gave up a dumb kickoff return with like 10 seconds left in the half.
13:46So the Saints kicked a field goal. And then they had the Saints stopped on the first drive after halftime.
13:53But they just lose Juwan Johnson on a third and 13.
13:58And it's another field goal. And somehow the Saints had kind of been dead ass for the second week in a row.
14:06They had nine points. They hadn't really done much.
14:10They'd kind of been set up with good field position just a couple of times.
14:15But they were in it. It was 14-9. Bateman in the third quarter ran a play action blaze out.
14:23Kind of like a post-corner looking route. That set up a Ravens field goal.
14:28So now it's, what, 17-9? Bateman would wind up doing 7 for 88 and a touchdown.
14:34I started him in one Flowers league. I didn't feel that good about it.
14:40And I probably don't feel that great going forward if Flowers is going to miss more time.
14:46But it certainly worked out for one week. Until the Ravens finally, suddenly found themselves unable to stop New Orleans in the fourth quarter.
14:56Found themselves trailing by a touchdown with no timeouts left.
14:59And Lamar scrambled and got them in position. And then took a shot to Bateman.
15:05Who either lost his mind or else just read the play differently from Jackson.
15:11Because he just stopped. He just stopped running. And that was the end play.
15:16That was the Lamar Jackson interception you'll see in the box score.
15:21Certainly not. I don't think Lamar's fault. And the Ravens lose incredibly at home.
15:26The injury news was that in the second half, their all-world left tackle Ronnie Staley hurt a toe.
15:33Left the game. I guess that was like toward the end of the third quarter.
15:39He didn't come back in. I'm not going to draw a straight line and say, you know, that's why the Ravens lost.
15:47Or that's why you shouldn't use Derrick Henry or Lamar Jackson.
15:51But certainly, Lamar Jackson got more pressure after that.
15:55And it did not help. The Saints, on the other hand, on the road two weeks in a row against offenses that
16:03we're pretty sure are better than the New Orleans offense.
16:07But then again, are they? Dead ass stuck on nine points.
16:11Looking kind of washed. Fourth quarter. Felt a little bit the way the Lions game felt before the big comeback.
16:19Chris Olave kind of gets him going on a third down.
16:23And I got to tell you, Chris Olave is a monster.
16:28He's my kind of guy. And he has been for a long time.
16:33You know I've been doing tape review on him and telling you how much I like Chris Olave on film for so long.
16:41And listen, I'm wrong about other dudes. This is not me bragging.
16:46It's just saying I'm susceptible. And part of the reason why I want to talk about this game today is because I
16:55just always want to watch Chris Olave film. I think Chris Olave belongs squarely in the top ten receivers.
17:02And we'll see. Maybe higher than that. And I'm not going to let a down game here or there bum me out too much on him.
17:12He just kind of picked up this team in the fourth quarter and willed it.
17:18A few plays later, after that third down conversion, kind of like a scissors route with Devon Vele, where they kind of
17:26both intersect and make confusing for the defensive backs.
17:30Olave got open. He scored his touchdown. The Ravens stop the two-pointer but commit a penalty.
17:36So Travis Etienne converts from the one and it's tied.
17:40As I said, Ravens protection suddenly got not as good.
17:44Saints get the ball back. Jawan Johnson, I mean, I had him one spot behind Brenton Strange.
17:50We'll talk about Strange here with the next game.
17:54Kind of wish that I had him reversed and maybe, you know, Jawan Johnson would have been the flag player because that
18:02looks much more likely to happen to me right now.
18:06If you can make that swap, I would do it.
18:10All Johnson does is make plays. He had a rumbling run after the catch.
18:15And Shuck got roughed on the play. Tyler Shuck did.
18:19They run a slant to Johnson. I thought Jawan Johnson was in the end zone, but they ruled him short.
18:27And then high drama on the game-winning drive where they get stuffed on the goal line to the point where it's fourth and one.
18:36And the Saints decide not to kick. They want the touchdown to go ahead by seven.
18:42And Shuck, for the second straight play, tries to sneak it in.
18:47And they rule him in on the second time.
18:50And then they wound up winning. Devon Vele, not going to show up massive in the box score.
18:57I thought very good. I think, you know, in some cases he might be a flex for fantasy if the Saints can
19:06keep recovering from crummy starts in games. He had a leaping third down conversion.
19:11Vele did. There was an end zone target late that was thrown too high.
19:16But good to see him getting a target there.
19:20We should mention, I think the Saints also lost their left tackle in this game.
19:26Kelvin Banks, something worth monitoring. Also worth monitoring. Oof.
19:29That backfield instantly became a mess. Bitchin' Kamara! Bitchin' Kamara!
19:33Elvin Kamara was active in this game. Kendry Miller was inactive.
19:37Travis, Etienne, got the game's first two carries. But Kamara immediately came in and got a catch and a carry right after that on the first drive.
19:48I gotta say, to my eyes, if anything, Kamara got a little more deference than Etienne did.
19:54Neither guy really did anything with it because the Ravens defense is going to be really good.
20:01I just think we all agree Etienne has a lot more juice than Kamara.
20:06It looked that way to me. The snap count was 34 Etienne, 19 Kamara.
20:12Kamara, so okay, I guess I'm crazy. Except that's not what it felt like.
20:17Touches were 14-10 in favor of Kamara. And it didn't look very good, so I don't know if it'll keep being the plan.
20:26But if you have Travis Steve, that is not an amazing feeling.
20:30Let's talk about the Broncos coming back on the Jags.
20:34If you didn't watch that game, well, you didn't get to hear Ross Tucker be delightful.
20:40And you might not know the score here was 13-3 Jags until late third quarter.
20:46And in fact, they came close to a touchdown on that drive.
20:51Brenton Strange, the aforementioned, had a catch to take it inside the 10 and took a personal foul hit to the helmet.
20:59So they're at the 3. Chris Rodriguez gets a carry.
21:03No. Bashul Tootin gets a check down screen. No.
21:07So they kick a field goal and it's 13-3.
21:10Broncos go get a field goal themselves to make it 13-6.
21:14But the Jaguars launch a long drive. A series on which, alarmingly, why is Amir Abdullah playing so much on that drive?
21:23Nobody needs that. But the Jags were moving. And then Trevor Lawrence stirred the bad echoes.
21:29He Salukied one intended for Parker Washington. Deep left, but threw it directly to Riley Moss, who held onto it.
21:37And down seven. The Bronco offense lit up. We'll talk about all that.
21:42In a minute. They go score. They go tie it up.
21:46And then Jacksonville launches another drive. Jacoby Myers hadn't been targeted once until the fourth quarter, but he converts a laser shot throw over the middle.
21:56And the drive is on. But then Brian Thomas drops his second pass of the game.
22:02And that was a rough one. And then the CBS crew, including our buddy Ross, had been talking up the Jacksonville field goal kicker.
22:11Like, ha, ha, ha. Maybe he'll set the record today.
22:15The longest field goal ever. Sure. Yeah. And then he shanks a 54-yarder, which I'm not mistaken.
22:22I'm touching my fictional earpiece. It would not have been a record.
22:26Once again, Denver goes down and scores. The Jags do nothing.
22:31Now losing 20 to 13. They punt it away.
22:34And they never get it back again. And Liam Cohen gets a pretty embarrassing unsportsmanlike for being way outside the coaching box
22:43and using some language that we all could read his lips.
22:47Now, on the one hand, I think you'd say it's no sin to play in Denver and play really tough in Denver and fall short.
22:56And it's also very obvious the Broncos' defense was much more dialed in than they were against the Chiefs.
23:04Didn't miss a bunch of tackles. They were embarrassed by that Monday night game.
23:09On the other hand, Lawrence should have also thrown a second interception late.
23:14Riley Moss dropped that one. You have Brian Thomas playing an absolute pud game out there.
23:20Just still getting eight targets, but not earning or deserving them at all.
23:25Myers played the most snaps and ran the most routes of any Jags receiver and only had that one target I mentioned,
23:34which renders him unusable until further notice. Brenton Strange does two for 17.
23:39And as I've been saying, Parker Washington should be getting double-digit targets every game.
23:44He's awesome. I talked about Olave being one of the guys I just like.
23:50Parker Washington, also one of the guys I just like.
23:53And he didn't score here. He almost scored here early in the game, but looked wonderful as a focal point.
24:01If at some point they decide Brian Thomas is not worth the emphasis that they're putting on him, maybe we can go back to Myers and Strange.
24:12But until then, I don't feel that so much.
24:15The backfield for Jacksonville was about a 2-to-1 ratio in favor of your darn Tootin over Rodriguez.
24:22I mentioned the one case where they did try to get Rodriguez a short touchdown, but it was only one try, and then he came out.
24:32And meanwhile, early in that game, after Parker Washington had been tackled at the 1, they actually put in Tootin for a
24:40Wildcat snap, and he ran around the right edge for a touchdown.
24:45Very obviously has the lead in that backfield, which we always assumed he would have the lead.
24:51And at some point, I imagine Rodriguez could get a little bit annoying.
24:56Four offensive snaps for Amir Abdullah, in addition to 10 for LaQuint Allen.
25:01Now that's annoying. For the Broncos, I mean, neither of the offenses did anything to start the game.
25:08I think we'd argue both of these defenses were better than both of these offenses for most of the game.
25:16Denver did 3-3 and outs to start this contest, but really that's when Jalen Waddell kind of became a focal point for them.
25:25Mid-second quarter, Waddell got loose on a deep post.
25:28He was covered. An evil movie dojo owner, Bo Nix, had not made a single good throw to that point, but that was a tight window.
25:38That was, no, no, no, no, oh yes, he got it in there.
25:43Waddell catches it, gets stopped at the 2, and then it's all we could have hoped for for J.K.
25:51Dobbins. He gets two cracks. He's stopped both times.
25:54On third down, Nix gets his foot stepped on and in desperation pitches it to Dobbins, and he loses yards, and they kick a field goal.
26:04Late second quarter, Troy Franklin, his only catch, a beautiful one-handed grab.
26:09Down the left sideline to get Denver inside the 10.
26:13Jonah Coleman got a carry, which was a hint of things to come, but on that one he got stuffed.
26:20And instead, Nix looked for Cortland Sutton in the end zone and threw just an insane interception.
26:27Every play that you do, don't you know you're Botoxic?
26:31He was Botoxic for most of this game. He did save himself a little bit at the end, which is kind of the Bo Nix routine.
26:41So it was 10-3 Jacksonville still at the half and 13-3 and almost more by the time Denver got the ball back.
26:49And on the next drive, J.K. Dobbins would go back on his pinky promise.
26:55You might recall in training camp, he told reporters, he promised, I'm going to play all 17 games and win a rushing title.
27:03So it doesn't turn out that you can control these things.
27:08He hurt a hamstring on Sunday, left the game, didn't play in the fourth quarter, will certainly be questionable for week three.
27:16We should stipulate, with no R.J. Harvey available for this game, Jonah Coleman had already played in the first half, and in
27:25fact it had like three screens where he didn't look electric or anything, but he caught the ball.
27:32And then in the fourth quarter, the gig pretty much became his.
27:36Tyler Bidet had four offensive snaps in the fourth.
27:40Coleman had the other 15 before kneel-down time. He scored the winning touchdown, Coleman did, after Cortland Sutton drew pass interference on
27:48Travis Hunter as they were running into the end zone.
27:52I can't tell you that Coleman was electric, because I don't think he looked electric.
27:58To me, he looked like the arithmetic mean of all the Audrick Estimays and Monty Balls and Samadji Pirines and all the
28:06other big slow running backs that I'm forgetting who've played in Denver.
28:11Good power stuff from Coleman. He had some very slow spin moves, but he's an obvious add given the injuries, no question, but I'm not sure he's great.
28:22Waddell was a revelation. He really was the key player in this turnaround, put up big numbers, more importantly, played really well.
28:30Sutton did have two end zone targets, but it's three catches for 25 yards, and Knicks, I think, is very much not
28:39untracked, so I don't think we need to chase there at all.
28:43A really good win for the Bengals going to Houston.
28:47The Texans lose their first two games, both at home.
28:51I didn't leave this game thinking that Houston's defense might be bad the way I did against Buffalo.
28:58This was very clearly about select moments where Joe Burrow was just very, very good, and Jamar Chase as well.
29:06Burrow was under pressure most of that game. I counted twice where he took a sack, and it felt for sure like
29:14he was going to fumble, and somehow didn't. It was just a lot of punting, but also great Burrow throws under duress,
29:23and the two big guys paid off. Late second quarter, still scoreless.
29:27T. Higgins caught his second deep dig route of the game.
29:31Then another third down conversion by Higgins on a short pass that he took for 24 yards, and then you've seen the
29:40highlight, I assume, of the first Jamar Chase touchdown.
29:43I mean, Derek Stingley, the coverage is perfect in the front corner of the end zone, and somehow Chase makes the catch
29:52and spins and taps his toes for the first points of the game.
29:57And then really for a long time, the Bengal offense once again didn't do much, but third quarter, a wild escape by
30:05Burrow, who he's not fast, but Tom Brady wasn't fast, but he just has that knack, and Chase improvs his route after the scramble.
30:15The throw is great. The catch is even better.
30:18Chase has two touchdowns. Higgins would in the fourth quarter, also have a spinning sideline grab, also on Stingley, who must have
30:27been shaking his head because he did nothing wrong.
30:30Totally exonerated. Led to the field goal that made it 20-6.
30:34Chase Brown started strong with two big runs, with two big lanes.
30:39Second one was called back for holding. It was a punishing day for him.
30:44He took a lot of punishment. Kept getting up.
30:48Made it through. Did 82 scrimmage yards. And this just in, I am once again touching my fictional earpiece and being told
30:56that Mike Gesicki only played 21 snaps in this game.
31:00Did not get a single target. And that is most certainly the Mike Gesicki story.
31:06And I hope you did not chase too hard after week one.
31:10For the Texans, you know, up until mid-fourth quarter, the Bengals had only sacked CJ Stroud once.
31:17But they did a really good job controlling the line and getting pressure directly up the gut on Stroud so he wasn't
31:25comfortably stepping into some of his throws. The big change here is Dexter Lawrence on Cincinnati's defensive line.
31:32We've said it for years, just give the Bengals an average defense and they should be very good.
31:39Through two weeks, it certainly looks like they're at least average and maybe better than that.
31:46The Houston run game was just stuffed. Woody Marks does eight carries for eight yards.
31:51David Montgomery does six carries for 10 yards. Both cases, I don't know what they were supposed to do.
31:59There was nowhere to go. At some point, you just had to throw and they certainly did that.
32:06Stroud had 55 attempts. The stats of CJ Stroud and Dalton Schultz are incredibly padded by seven catches that Schultz had on the final drive, losing by 14.
32:16Kind of a hopeless drive that wasn't going to change anything.
32:21But I also do give Dalton Schultz credit. Earlier in the game, he made a legit big play running away from man
32:29coverage on a shallow cross and gaining 45 yards.
32:33Plus, one of those Basora time catches late fourth quarter was a beaut of a one-handed catch by Schultz.
32:40And I'm sure there will be box score watchers who say, aha, Nico Collins is out.
32:46Dalton Schultz is the one who inherits everything. And about that, I will say the same thing I said about Mike Gesicki.
32:54I do not necessarily agree. Without those seven meaningless catches, I mean, it's still five for 70 and we don't sneeze at that from a tight end.
33:05But also, there will be days, as in week one, where the run game works and then some of those Schultz targets dry up.
33:14But it's 140 yards and they do for one week all count.
33:19If we were going to pick a wide receiver who benefited from Collins being out, it was probably none of them.
33:27No wideout had more than three catches. It felt to me watching it like Xavier Hutchinson was closest to being a factor,
33:35but that may just be the residual taste of two meaningless heaves overthrown for Hutchinson into the end zone at the end of the game.
33:45There was one moment in the game where Woody Marks was getting a lot of short yardage stuff, which seems kind of like a mismanagement.
33:55Why else do you have David Montgomery? Marks got ruled short by an inch on a third down and instead of just
34:03going, the Texans tried a 58-yard field goal attempt and it was short.
34:08I thought Stroud once again played pretty well. I don't think I'd be using him outside of Superflex when there's no Nico Collins, but Stroud was mobile.
34:18He scrambled in some meaningful spots, got some rushing yards.
34:22Jalen Knoll, fourth quarter, his only catch, a deep over route where he just looked so damn fast and gained 31 yards,
34:31but it is very obvious by now. The Texans do not share my evaluation of Jalen Knoll.
34:37We are sponsored again today by AG1. You know my morning habit.
34:42I put the powder in the water, I drink it down, and my nutrition is taken care of.
34:49I have already done it this morning, very early.
34:52If it's a day that ends in Y, you know I've had my AG1.
34:58It's a daily health drink with a multivitamin, pre- and probiotics, superfoods, and antioxidants all built right in.
35:05It's one scoop and eight ounces of water. With AG1, my energy levels at the gym are great.
35:12The magic for me, if you have a little bit of a wonky stomach, I couldn't recommend drinking AG1 more.
35:19AG1 supports gut health in addition to immune health.
35:23It is clinically shown to support better gut health.
35:26I drink it every morning on an empty stomach and my stomach just feels so much better and just like kind of more neutral, keeps me more regular.
35:37When I went on the book tour, I traveled light, but I made sure to bring AG1.
35:44For a limited time, you can save 20% on your first subscription order of AG1 next gen or AG1 pro at drinkag1.com slash Harris.
35:53Really recommend it. Drinkag1.com slash Harris. Break out the footy pajamas.
35:57Let's talk about the Patriots with a relatively easy win over the Steelers, though I don't think you'd say that Drake may answer to all questions.
36:07A 20-3 score and one of those touchdowns was a scoop and score on an Aaron Rodgers sack fumble.
36:14May doesn't throw a touchdown pass here. Plus, he throws another howler of an interception.
36:20First drive of the third quarter, the Patriots were starting deep in their own territory.
36:26May scrambled right in his own end zone and laid in a perfect deep ball to Romeo Dobbs, who therefore accordingly paid
36:35off with three catches for 96 yards. While Mac Hollins, shocking, nobody around these parts, does two for 18.
36:42The Patriots would get a field goal on that drive, but later New England is set up in Steeler territory and May
36:50throws a horrendous fall-away deep ball, just way underthrown, looking for Hunter Henry.
36:55An easy pick, a definite yikes. He was not doing that regularly last year and he's now done it multiple times in multiple games this season.
37:05I think the Steelers is probably that defense is on the good side of average, but I don't think you should be having problems like this.
37:15And it probably does need to lower the Drake May estimate a little bit.
37:21We're getting four carries for 17 yards. This was, don't listen to anybody, not a weather game.
37:27It's a good win, but pretty conservative and when it mattered, you didn't get a lot of production out of him.
37:35Ramondre Stevenson, though, that's worse. He did it again.
37:39Third play of the game is a good screen to Stevenson.
37:43He fumbles it away in Steeler territory and the cameras show him getting an absolute earful from Mike Vrabel.
37:50Second drive for New England, there's Travion Henderson and he gets a big lane and you know when he gets a big lane, he's gone.
38:00It's a 40-yard touchdown run and that set the stage for how those backs would be used the rest of the day.
38:09The total was 32 snaps Henderson, 19 Stevenson, but third down, eight Stevenson, four Henderson.
38:14They don't trust Travion in pass protection and now once again, they may feel like they cannot trust Stevenson with the ball.
38:23I'm going to guess that wasn't the plan until the fumble and now we have to be left to worry.
38:30I think Henderson gets ranked higher next week to be honest.
38:35No Patriots receiver does over three catches. You can argue would things be so much better if A.J.
38:42Brown wasn't hurt? I don't know. They went run heavy because the Steeler offense just didn't pose any kind of threat of scoring points.
38:51The Patriots scored three offensive points in the second half of a game where they kind of had a hard time keeping
38:59the ball even as Pittsburgh was barfing on itself.
39:03I don't think a good offensive performance and the Steelers, yikes.
39:07Rico Dowdle got the start here. He got two carries on the first two plays of the game, but Pittsburgh didn't go anywhere.
39:16Jalen Warren was in for the second series. They also go three and out.
39:21Next drive, there's a third and six and Aaron Rodgers just panic whips a one yard pass at Jalen Warren's feet and
39:30the Steelers miss a 57 yard field goal on that drive.
39:34Later, a third and four, they call a draw, don't get it.
39:39Rodgers had plenty of possessions, had 39 pass attempts, got his clock absolutely cleaned on one sack where he got high load
39:47and I would not have been surprised if he had retired on the spot.
39:53He fumbled on that play also, but the Patriots were too dumb to just pick it up and kept getting pushed further
40:01and further backward and the Steelers recovered, so the next play was fourth and 43.
40:07DK Metcalf, early third quarter, a short drop. He'd been hounded by Christian Gonzalez for a lot of the game.
40:15He finally runs a good third down route where he loses Gonzalez, gets the target, promptly drops another one.
40:22If the people who scored drops were honest, Metcalf might have five or six in two games.
40:28And then the next drive is when Rodgers had his soft, soft fumble six.
40:34Dowdle would hurt a toe in the second quarter.
40:37We actually saw him get carted to the locker room, but then when the third quarter started, he was back out there
40:46playing, but he would leave the game permanently eventually because of his toe.
40:51Seems like he's probably going to miss time. You had Travis Homer in there getting carries, but I think it's probably more
40:59of a full-time job for Warren who racked up a respectable 77 scrimmage yards, but I don't know.
41:06A lot of that came in Basora time when he also, in fact, almost scored a touchdown at the end but was
41:15held up short whereupon Rodgers took a sack and then Jeremy Bernard, the rookie, popped up a pass in the air for an interception.
41:24You do not certainly lead to look for extra Pittsburgh Steelers to use, although Jeremy Bernard had a streak of four short
41:32catches in the second quarter including a conversion of a third and seven that was pretty good.
41:39I've got Seahawks Cardinals My goal in all of these film reviews is certainly like hit the highlights but also hopefully I'm
41:47adding value by telling you what stuff looked like and maybe, you know, things that you don't know just by seeing the highlights.
41:56The game was 31-7 final but this was 7-7 at the half and in fact, Seattle scores on their first offensive play
42:05Drew Locke fakes a flat pass, the Cardinals jump like crazy at it, bust the coverage and Jackson Smith and Jigba takes
42:13it 80 yards and one play and they're up 7-0 and the rest of the first half the Arizona defense was really good.
42:22The run defense held up really well for most of it.
42:26Jadarian Price was stuffed early on. Early second quarter the rural juror part two Rashid Shahid hadn't really been visible in the Wednesday opener two weeks ago here.
42:37Okay, he catches a quick slant followed by a quick out.
42:41That was interesting because, you know, if Shahid isn't just a deep guy that helps.
42:47Unfortunately, that doesn't go anywhere and the drive after that one Shahid has a horrible drop and killed a drive.
42:55They forced Jadarian Price to fumble right around midfield a good peanut punch much in the manner of Ramondre Stevenson and Travion
43:03Henderson was there going to be a punishment? Well, it wasn't George Hulani who came in it was Emmanuel Wilson he got
43:12like three carries in a row which was pretty good but then the punishment didn't really last for Price and he came
43:20back in Seattle did have a good drive going late second quarter they're inside the 10 Price showed good burst and tries
43:29to cut it upfield to lose a tackler but slips and falls at the 5 then Wilson came in for three straight
43:37carries inside the 5 including a fourth down and got stuffed on all of them and it was still 7-7 at the
43:46half and that was interesting it felt like Arizona was competitive but for Seattle's offense things were obviously better in the second
43:54first drive of the third quarter Price bounced right turned it upfield went for 25 that was legit a really good run
44:03it landed them inside the 5 whereupon Price stayed in at tailback but Wilson was in at fullback and they gave Wilson
44:11the carry he was stuffed then Price had two carries and lost yards then JSN scored his second touchdown instead and then
44:20unfortunately after a screen pass when it was 17-7 late third quarter Jadarian Price was hurt came out of the game the
44:28next I saw of him on the broadcast he was in street clothes and the Fox crew was telling us it was
44:37a chest injury and then in the fourth quarter Holani did get a red zone carry nullified by holding but it was
44:45vastly more Emmanuel Wilson 16 snaps for him in the fourth quarter 5 for Holani which is certainly how I ranked them
44:54all summer I definitely would have thought Emmanuel Wilson would have had the better chance to be the other guy in addition
45:02to Jadarian Price that's not what week one looked like but it definitely is what week two looked like and you know
45:10as you can see in the box score Wilson had some success with his physical act we'll see if Price can play
45:19week three Emmanuel Wilson's going to be a waiver ad for the Cardinals we got some of our answer about how they
45:27came to LA and dominated the Chargers last week I think the Chargers probably aren't that good and then also let's be
45:36fair Arizona's defense as I said held up pretty well for a long time in this game before the dam did finally
45:44burst I'm not telling you the Arizona defense is amazing but I do think I can say they're not one of the
45:53true cream puff matchups so far in the league they hung in there but the Arizona offense just was not a match
46:01for Seattle's defense a good third drive for Arizona Trey McBride made a catch Michael Wilson drew interference into the red zone
46:10Jeremiah Love had a good carry down to the 10 they gave it to him again and he got stuffed then McBride
46:18got an end zone target that wasn't close Jacoby Brissett scrambled and didn't get close because he's really slow and obviously there
46:27was desperation in the air even on that third drive they're down 7-0 JSN had scored so quickly so Arizona goes for
46:35it on fourth down from around like the 3 or the 4 and McBride catches the touchdown on fourth drown the only
46:44points that Arizona would score all day I don't believe Marvin Harrison got a single target until the 2 minute drill at
46:52the end of the first half which he did not catch and that was it no more targets for Marv Jr.
47:00the entire rest of the day Wilson does 2 for 18 but did draw that important interference call Kendrick Bourne had a
47:09couple catches but Marvin Harrison oh my goodness Brissette was very sped up and was bad here he was even times he
47:17could set his feet he was quite inaccurate making last week feel very far away for that offense in the second half
47:26before the last minute of Basura time Arizona had 12 plays and 20 yards in an entire half and we should say
47:34the snap count in the backfield for the entire game was 19 Jeremiah Love 30 Tyler Algier that's not what you're looking
47:43for Monday night preview normally this early in the season we want to just you know play our guys but in Giants
47:51Rams tonight there's a big old problem looming that I'm sure you already heard about which and in fact on Sunday morning
48:00a couple of the NFL skin puppets were told that Nakua was trending in the wrong direction toward maybe even not playing
48:08on Monday night I don't really know what that means any more than you do I don't have some secret source that
48:17you don't know about if Nakua plays I can't tell you how much risk there is we're all flying blind here and
48:25it's just a sin that I have been proceeding as if he won't play but I also don't have him on any
48:34teams whereas it turned out I do have Chase and JSN on one team apiece so personally this one's not going to
48:42mess with my teams if there's no Puka for this game and you held open a starting spot for him I you
48:51already know for this game Miles Garrett is on IR we're told Aaron Donald plays in this game tonight which will be
48:59interesting to see I'm sure that the TV broadcast will delve into that a Draft Kings because Draft Kings is now live
49:07in all 50 states in the US one app all the football nationwide just talked about the Monday night game Giants Rams
49:16no matter what state you're in in the US there's a way to Draft Kings app and use the code Harris the
49:24crown is yours today's guest he's coming second three times big dog in his home league Charlie made ring star got nothing
49:33on here and you know the music today's guest is Patrick Doherty find him all over the internet frankly find him on
49:41social media find him at rotoworld find him doing live streams today doing shows and podcasts and wow a lot of who
49:50beat you my best friend slash arch rival jordan sergeant jordan how do you do this to him i couldn't talk to
49:58him for like a day i wish i were kidding i'm glad it's not and christine it wasn't her this time yeah
50:07yeah all right well we're gonna make you forget that for a little bit by talking about some injuries buddy because man
50:15you picked these games and then immediately immediately we're gonna start with vikings bears and so i've read your blurbs because you
50:24blurbed this game for roto world you know how i'm i'm your biggest fan i think you know that you from all
50:32the text you get you know that i am quite literally your biggest fan and it looked for all the world like
50:41he'd done an achilles everybody online assumed it was achilles and now they're saying oh it's a hamstring it's not that bad
50:49that's not possible right he's not a baby and he hit a towel over his face like this is a serious injury
50:58it's got it i think it's just a hamstring injury and i think he he's like a hyper competitor he was distraught
51:06you know it was interesting you know he did try to get up immediately i thought that was kind of funny and
51:15poignant and i think he's just kind of wired differently and i think he like experiences like very high level emotions and
51:23he didn't want to come out of the game i think he was distraught i think maybe he was worried it was
51:32something like that but i guess you know unless you've torn your achilles before you don't really know what it feels like
51:40and so i think maybe he thought it was worse than it was i actually do believe there's a hamstring injury but
51:49i don't know he comes back very quickly always but i mean reserve type situation at least four games but also we're
51:57recording this early monday morning i wouldn't be shocked by monday afternoon and never mind yeah something more serious but i actually
52:05do take it face value that it was apparently somehow just as hamstring i do too i i take it as hamstring
52:14but like there are grades of hamstrings and for a guy who like can't move i just what's the difference we're gonna
52:22find out when we find out let's face it the bears offense was not having a good day that happened late in
52:31the game um you know as they do as brian flores does just sent pressure and did ben johnson not realize that
52:39was gonna happen because they did not seem to have a plan for it i don't know one too many things went
52:48wrong i guess because you got the classic horrible fall chicago day and didn't really look like that was affecting the offense
52:56to me though did it to you like no i thought it looked like maybe it was affecting tyson bajant's throws man
53:05is the arm strength difference between caleb williams and tyson bajant readily apparent but didn't think the weather was a huge factor
53:13and i i don't know not to get into psychology or narrative based but maybe it was like a needed humbling for
53:22the bear maybe they genuinely believed this was gonna be easy after week one and rude awakening and i don't understand how
53:30they weren't ready for the blitz-a-thon but maybe that's easier said than done because it's happened to me this sounds ridiculous but
53:39on video games before you know they're gonna blitz every time and you still somehow they still sack you every single time
53:47they're basically cheating brian flores was basically cheating so i don't know it was a tough day at the office though yeah
53:56if i mean i don't think they're gonna set any records it turns out um if it turns out that it's tyson
54:04bajant for a few weeks i mean they moved the drive there moved the ball in that last drive but like you
54:13said it didn't look the same i assume this crushes all bears values i think it's a problem it does i mean
54:21those are like wounded doves and again maybe the weather actually was affecting tyson bajant there's a reason tyson bajant was what
54:30around seven undrafted guy and caleb williams is the number one overall pick huge difference in the relative arm strength but he
54:38can play the problem with tyson bajant is i think we'll get more of like what the bears offense has looked like
54:47the past two weeks where it's just pure distribution it's pitch and catch with whomever happens to be open and it might
54:55almost like sustain the caliph raymond thing for a little while and just be really bad news for our stars because yeah
55:04i don't think he's just going to be jamming the ball to luther bird and colston lovin roman dunze etc and it's
55:12going very wide expanse of this bears offense where so many guys are getting the ball it's funny watching this game live
55:20which i was before the cable went out i was ready to come on and talk to you about the big big
55:29injury of the game being aaron jones because the beginning of the fourth quarter he's throwing his helmet he's so upset he's
55:37for sure done and then the next drive as long as there's no jordan mason which is not going to be for
55:46a month you're riding this probably you are with the only caveat being this is aaron jones as you point out it
55:54shocking he returned at so sore monday but they don't want to be relying on him as this bell cow guy as
56:03we know they've tried to get away from this from the past two years but he may be reproved he can do
56:11a shot play gain on the very first drive he was open for a touchdown Carson wentz overthrew him although it wasn't
56:20that bad a throw was close but he could have had a bomb touchdown in year the health meter has not gone
56:28up the stamina meter has not gone up it's interesting that he's wily veteraning the hell out of it but there's just
56:37nothing left in the arm strength or even really the legs Kyler Murray is you're not in a good situation if Kyler
56:45Murray is the savior but Kyler Murray definitely is going to be a humongous upgrade on Carson wins so for Eagles Titans
56:54turned out to be a really good game Drew Breeze is doing that game and I don't know I'm sure Drew Breeze
57:02is a very nice man he is just terrible at this he was not good and he no longer works for NBC
57:11so yeah I can say that he he he talked for like 58 minutes about this excellent Eagles offensive line and this
57:19offense is really humming and they're so much better without Saquon Barkley I mean watching those things I did not agree but
57:28this another injury game the big story was Saquon Barkley getting landed on on the very first play and immediately leaving the
57:36game missing the entire first half Tank Bigsby played okay at least in like a second quarter had a kind of a
57:45barreling run that got them down to the one he scored Will Shipley was mixed in and then Barkley since the Super
57:53Bowl year it seemed like further confirmation to me the 2024 Eagles are not coming back and still a fine version of
58:02the Eagles but I think the 11 and 6 version or whatever it was last year that's the truth now Super Bowl
58:10peak is just they're very post that peak and Saquon man so first off Saquon somehow finished the game but then he
58:18said afterwards he's getting an MRI did not have the appearance of someone who should have returned to that game did he
58:27Chris and pretty interesting that when he went out Tank Bigsby talked about all summers maybe the highest upside contingency back in
58:35all of fantasy football but without Saquon they immediately formed he would have a far larger dose of Tank Bigsby not that
58:44it was even a small dose in Nashville but I don't know I think we always thought if Saquon got hurt Tank
58:52Bigsby would be like an 80% fab guy I'm not really sure if you can say that right now yeah that's a
59:01good point I have to think about what I'm going to say tomorrow for much fab will be not knowing yet whether
59:09Saquon is even missing any games and people aren't going to go crazy if you don't know now if we find out
59:18on Monday evening that Barkley's out for a month you're going to be having to unload the fab on him he's cartavious
59:26good player like he's good he's not Barkley he's better than Will Shipley although Shipley was more physical than he's been in
59:35the past and is also very tan his arms are very tan it was hard to tell which running back had the
59:43ball if you know what I mean Dallas Goddard also gets hurt in that game Darius Cooper scores the winning touchdown Dontavian
59:52Wicks had a couple gets home but like this isn't going to be the 2024 Eagles so you just don't need to
60:00go starting tons of secondary guys the Wicks thing is weird too because he's been nothing wrong in the Eagles coaching staff
60:09very productive through two games and maybe it's just some weird personnel based thing that's not going to transfer over to week
60:17three but I don't know he's losing snaps as the game went on obviously not a good sign and Tony Pollard was
60:26okay Ty J Spears had a huge play on a third down late that almost saved the Titans bacon it just week
60:34three I don't know if I'll be recommending starting a single Tennessee Titan and 12 team league fantasy which is almost inconceivable
60:43we're starting even Miami Dolphins and there's just not a single Tennessee Titan that has to quote unquote be in lineups and
60:51that's a game where they're winning they probably should win that game and we're still like yeah they stink let's finish it
61:00up with the I think I hate to say it Charger fans take enough abuse but it is a funny story it
61:08is just you start at home with maybe the two worst teams in league and you go on two Raiders Chargers first
61:17of all did you get to hear the game because I think Logan Ryan is really good as an analyst he sounds
61:25exactly like Tim Legler he cannot unhear it it makes it was uncanny I could not place who it was yeah Tim
61:33like I think sounds right Logan Ryan was very good by the way yeah Drew Breeze was making my ears bleed Logan
61:42Ryan I listen yeah he is doomed if he does that he you know Romo learned quick don't say the truth do
61:50respect to the Raiders we'll talk like last week there's one drive where it's a me Mario does a real power drive
61:59where he runs over guys and he's really good and he bangs in a short touchdown and then just like last week
62:07he also absolutely murders the team with a fumble Pat I think he is Najee Harris I think we've been sold this
62:16weird bowl of goods and he got to study at the foot of the master last year when Najee was on that
62:24team I think he might have absorbed Najee Harris aura no listen Najee that's a little too mean of a comparison I
62:33will say he's Mike Allstott he's not really a running back is he's thankfully big enough where he does have some guys
62:41bouncing off of him but man we're not going to prove myself wrong so that I don't get committed you but like
62:50you know he scored two touchdowns oh what's wrong what do you talk like I'll tell you what's wrong he doesn't look
62:58very good and you know so like catastrophically failing the eye test he just he is catastrophically failing the eye test Ladd
63:07McConkie played in the game I hope people didn't really use him he seemed mostly like a decoy and therefore Quentin Johnston
63:15just an utterly useless player an unbelievable monstrosity of a useless player that they're still trying to force down our throats in
63:24a game where you don't have Ladd McConkie Quentin Johnston can't even get targeted no he thing is Quentin could be useful
63:32but he's not just miscast as a number one he's miscast as a number two he needs to be a role playing
63:41rotational number three deep threat a guy with a very set specific role but this being the chargers nothing can ever go
63:49according to plan so he keeps getting pushed up number one receiver he can't even be a credible number two receiver in
63:58my opinion the problem is I believe that the actual Marquez Valdez Scantling is also in this roster he is he's more
64:06explosive than Quentin maybe Trey Harris Cleveland Harris his real name's Cleveland he made a play I'd give him a shot more
64:15than I'd give Quentin Johnson a shot but they don't really David Njoku gave you to a defender's hands and then Njoku
64:23gets hurt so maybe at least Arande Gadsden can build on the touchdown maybe it has to be because he's one of
64:32the only people with any semblance of playmaking juice and I happening down the field I feel like that has to be
64:40an adjustment for them to make because I think one of the biggest industry wide misreadings of the entire summer was I
64:48just think the Chargers were perceived as a deep offense because they were an annoying offense so you got annoying stuff like
64:57Charlie Kohler coming in Keaton Mitchell coming in that complicated the picture complicated the narrative it's like wow there were literal in
65:05literal terms a lot of people there but it wasn't good depth and like the second lad got hurt it really exposed
65:14that this is not a great skill core and it's a bunch of guys who are kind of replacement level maybe sub
65:22replacement level and man Mike McDaniel kind of got like it's hard to save a and yet Justin Herbert who everybody knows
65:31I've defended for a long time I'm I'm I mean he doesn't have McConkie and that is obviously something that's going to
65:39make the offense work better because McConkie is a legit McConkie in the Pooh he's not a winner I think what you
65:48could say in 2026 he was not making winning plays on Sunday and he's unfortunately a guy cursed with things going wrong
65:56around him almost constantly but then he becomes a part of the problem not a part of the solution it makes no
66:05sense because he seems like a relatively high football IQ we know he's extremely physically skilled but I don't know what happens
66:13when things spiral he just goes down the drain with it he does not elevate it how did he affect the game
66:22positively on Sunday maybe you could argue he didn't but this is the Raiders I didn't really talk about the Raiders too
66:30much Ashton Jenty stuffed four straight times from the inside the four yard line including on fourth down also gets shaken up
66:39in this game and I was like oh I was not watching it live because again the cable was out but I
66:47didn't know what had happened so I saw him leave the game I was in the fourth quarter I was like to
66:56watch him run as opposed to it's a me a Mario is to think he has home runs in him I think
67:04but he just has not been hitting them I couldn't agree more where in back but you really do me saw in
67:13week one and it was even yesterday you could have like one or two tiny things go different on a play he's
67:21going to make a house call where you do very clearly see that with Ashton Gentty where you do not see it
67:30with Omari and Hampton agreed and probably Saul Bowers were just not I don't think how can you chase chase Trey Turner
67:38like you can I guess if you're really desperate but we're not in bye weeks yet and he makes big plays but
67:46he also doesn't make big plays hugely screwed up at a point where it felt like the Raiders could put the game
67:55away you always want like surely someone will emerge from the skill core I wire in that performance no especially with Brock
68:03Bowers allegedly returning in week three do you like it that I confuse his name with a baseball player's name right what
68:12I really talk about not a winner but not on my don't put in the papers on my team he was not
68:20on my team but not a winner Trey Turner all right brother well this was great thanks for doing it three high
68:29event games that's for sure wow like we had to spend a little extra time because these were super high event games
68:37what are you writing you're doing like a Monday aftermath type column it's confusing it's called the Sunday aftermath and comes out
68:46on Mondays got it yeah just just your standard breakdown of the week kind of the after action report for week two
68:54with some look ahead to week three of course the big news items how to interpret them heading into waivers heading into
69:03week three goes up early monday afternoon on rotoworld.com well you have no bigger fan than me I obviously always read it
69:11that's how I knew what it was even though I didn't know it was called Sunday aftermath then again I didn't know
69:20Trey Tucker was Trey Turner or vice versa so there you go but you know you're the best and I love having
69:28you on thank you so much for and thank you so much for listening let me thank the three sponsors that made
