Player insights

31

A.J. Brown

PositiveValue62:49

JJ Zachariason cites AJ Brown as an example of a player who could have been drafted late in the third round, representing a successful draft move.

Insight page

Alvin Kamara

NegativeProjection38:01

Alvin Kamara is expected to play Week 1, but his ranking was slightly bumped down due to potential reductions in pass-catching volume.

Insight page

Blake Corum

NegativeUsage20:42

Blake Corum is currently a handcuff with limited fantasy predictability; he ran only one route and lacks the receiving profile to be a legitimate weekly threat unless the Rams are in a positive game script.

Insight page

C.J. Stroud

PositiveValue47:45

Zachariason identifies Stroud as a look-ahead waiver target for Week 2, noting he faces a Cincinnati secondary that he believes is underrated by the market.

Insight page

Chris Brooks

NegativeSleeper49:36

Zachariason suggests Brooks as a speculative add, noting his potential role as a pass-protecting back against a strong Minnesota defense.

Insight page

Chris Rodriguez

PositiveUsage42:45

Zachariason expects an even split in the Jacksonville backfield between Rodriguez and Tootin, noting that Rodriguez can thrive in a positive game script against Cleveland due to his ability between the tackles.

Insight page

Christian McCaffrey

NegativeUsage17:18

McCaffrey dealt with cramps, leading to a 55% snap share and 33% rush share, his lowest in a completed game as a 49er. While he remains an RB1, Zachariason expects his usage to be managed differently than last year, potentially to keep him fresher and healthier.

Insight page

Davante Adams

NegativeUsage13:23

Zachariason highlights concerns regarding Adams' usage, specifically noting a lower snap rate and, more importantly, being bypassed by Puka Nacua in the green zone (within the 10-yard line). This usage pattern is concerning for a player drafted in the 5th or 6th round.

Insight page

Demarcus Robinson

PositiveDepth Chart19:16

Robinson is the primary beneficiary of Dajon Stribbling's ankle injury, seeing his route share jump from 26% pre-injury to 77% post-injury, leading the team in that metric.

Insight page
PositiveUsage20:30

Demarcus Robinson receives a natural boost in playing time following the injury to Stribbling, moving him from a non-factor to a player who will be on the field significantly more.

Insight page

Demario Douglas

PositiveUsage29:07

Demario Douglas saw his route share increase from 74% to 83% following AJ Brown's injury, making him a primary beneficiary in the Patriots' passing attack, though he may have a lower ceiling than other options.

Insight page

Drake London

NegativeValue32:10

Drake London is considered slightly overvalued by the market for Week 1, but he remains a must-start; his peripherals were excellent with Michael Penix, who JJ Zachariason prefers over the current starter.

Insight page

Drake Maye

PositiveProjection30:43

Despite a 0-12 record against winning teams, JJ Zachariason maintains that Drake Maye is a very good player who has faced a gauntlet of tough defenses.

Insight page

Jadarian Price

NegativeUsage25:50

Jadarian Price showed explosive ability with a 48% rush share and 50% snap share, but his fantasy ceiling is capped by his lack of third-down work (George Helani) and goal-line usage (Emmanuel Wilson). He is a hold, but expectations should be tempered given the team's committee approach.

Insight page

Jayden Daniels

PositiveInjury60:54

The speaker notes that Jayden Daniels is healthy heading into the matchup against the Eagles, which adds intrigue to the divisional game.

Insight page

Jordan Love

PositiveProjection60:00

The speaker expresses a personal affinity for Jordan Love this season, noting interest in seeing how the Packers' offense is deployed in the matchup against the Vikings.

Insight page

Josh Jacobs

NegativeValue35:19

Josh Jacobs is likely facing a six-game suspension; JJ Zachariason suggests a short window to trade for him at a low cost in redraft leagues, acknowledging the risk while noting the exempt list time may count toward the suspension.

Insight page

Justin Herbert

NegativeRole61:11

The speaker expresses interest in the Cardinals-Chargers game specifically to observe how the offense functions under the direction of Mike McDaniel with Justin Herbert.

Insight page

Keaton Mitchell

PositiveValue49:36

Zachariason highlights Mitchell as a look-ahead waiver target, noting he is still available in 41% of leagues.

Insight page

Kyle Pitts

NegativeProjection33:13

Kyle Pitts has been moved down to the bottom of his tier due to quarterback uncertainty, though JJ Zachariason notes the difference in expectation is minimal.

Insight page

Kyler Murray

NegativeRole60:00

The speaker notes that Kyler Murray is under center for the Vikings in the upcoming Packers-Vikings matchup, highlighting it as a game with many unknowns.

Insight page

Kyren Williams

PositiveUsage20:50

JJ Zachariason notes Kyren Williams maintained a 63% snap share compared to Blake Corum's 23%, with a 72% route share. Williams remains the primary pass-catching back, a role he excelled in as a prospect, and is expected to benefit from negative game scripts.

Insight page

Malik Willis

PositiveProjection46:49

Zachariason predicts Willis will outscore Jaden Daniels in Week 1, noting Willis has a better matchup against the Raiders and a similar team total to Washington despite the consensus ranking gap.

Insight page

Michael Mayer

PositiveSleeper34:15

With Brock Bowers out for an extended period, Michael Mayer is a strong pickup who could perform as a TE1; his historical peripherals without Bowers (2.22 yards per route run) are highly encouraging.

Insight page
PositiveValue44:59

Zachariason is six spots ahead of the market on Mayer, citing his 28% target per route run rate and 2.22 yards per route run without Brock Bowers last year, plus a tight end-friendly scheme.

Insight page

Mike Evans

PositiveUsage18:46

Evans looked like his vintage self, seeing a shift in usage where he played more in the slot early in the game before moving back to his traditional role. Following Dajon Stribbling's injury, Evans' route share increased to 71%.

Insight page
NegativeUsage19:45

Mike Evans played more in the slot than anticipated (36% rate early, finishing around 15-17%), which is atypical for his historical usage; this shift was likely intended to create advantageous matchups, but the injury to Stribbling may limit the team's offensive versatility.

Insight page

Pat Bryant

PositiveBreakout54:28

Zachariason notes there is significant steam regarding Bryant in Denver, with reports suggesting he could have a larger role than expected.

Insight page

Puka Nacua

PositiveUsage14:02

Nacua saw encouraging usage in the green zone, playing more snaps than Davante Adams within the 10-yard line. If this usage trend continues, Nacua has the potential to break fantasy records, as the Rams' passing attack is expected to improve.

Insight page

Terrance Ferguson

NegativeUsage8:35

Despite a 73% route share in the first half, Ferguson's overall route share dropped to 48% due to limited usage in 11 personnel and heavy reliance on 13 personnel. While he remains a talented prospect in a good offense, his lack of immediate production and reduced second-half usage make him droppable in shallower leagues (10-12 teams) if roster space is needed.

Insight page
PositiveUsage40:25

Zachariason highlights that Ferguson maintained a 73% route share during the first half of last season, a mark achieved by very few tight ends, which correlates strongly with PPR points per game.

0:56Without further ado, here's this week's episode. Welcome in.
0:59Welcome in. It's the Late Round Fantasy Football Show.
1:01David Kitchen here alongside hatless JJ Zacharyson. JJ, how are you?
1:05I'm good. There is for the audio listeners who listen in the podcast feed.
1:09Now on Saturdays, P-Trip in chat is giving odds on whether or not I wear a hat on the stream.
1:15So today's no hat odds were minus 220. So I'm not wearing a hat.
1:19You're not getting that good of a payout though if you bet that side.
1:23Yeah. All right, JJ, we are two games in and we still have so much more left like to go.
1:29So as far as like your process, this is our sixth show of the week.
1:33Six episode of the week. Yes. And so we have a lot going on.
1:37And then you are also updating the rankings more frequently now.
1:41Yes. Yes. Um, I am updating a lot more frequently because we have the website.
1:45Um, is my, is my, is my connection bad right now?
1:48Is that what people are saying? You sound fine.
1:51Yeah, it seems fine, right? Yeah. Come on, P-Trip.
1:54You can't be doing that on a live show, throwing that out there that, that there was a, a wifi issue or something.
2:00Um, but yeah, anyway, uh, I, I'm, I, you know, the, the, the website, the way things are, are set up right
2:07now, I can update rankings a lot. Quicker, you know, we're getting those out, uh, super fast.
2:12I was able to, to update them already this morning.
2:15Uh, this is Friday, uh, you know, post Thursday night football.
2:18So, yeah, I mean like it's a, you know, at the beginning of every season, it's always a, um, you know, like a learning curve.
2:25You gotta, gotta kind of get used to your new schedule and, and such.
2:30And I think that, you know, this week has gone, gone pretty well, all things considered, you know, it's a short week too, because of labor day.
2:38I work on labor day every year, but you know, it's, it's, uh, it's, it's nice to kind of get in a
2:44rhythm and this is a rhythm that we'll be in for the next 16 weeks.
2:48Okay. Uh, yeah, we've got all of our rankings, our members Q and a, our discord chats happening.
2:54You can get there late round.com and purchase the insider or all access package.
2:58Uh, so as far as the stuff we have going on Sundays will be popping in the chat.
3:03It's already been popping in the discord chat, but it'll be popping even more Sunday mornings.
3:08Uh, so make sure that if you remember you are in a discord or you're just looking at the rankings, we have timestamps up for those.
3:16So should be fun, but JJ, we can't. And next week, rest of season rankings start.
3:20Yeah. Next week. Yes. Yes. So, uh, had you, had you already said that was I, was I, okay.
3:26I'm no, you're good. It's a great, a great start to the week one episode that we have going on here.
3:32If I've discovered anything, it's like there's, I told you this earlier.
3:36It's this mix between like the seasons over or the preseasons over and the real season is about to begin.
3:42So I'm like sandwiched between still like customer service stuff and answering emails, helping people on board and also looking forward to this upcoming week.
3:49I'm ready to get into a routine. JJ, I, I can't wait.
3:53And I'm also ready to get in today's into today's news and notes.
3:56Today's fantasy news. All right. Lots of talk about today.
3:59Two games in last year. We hadn't had the, uh, the Friday game.
4:03I think that was the Brazil game yet. Um, so two games in JJ want to get some, some reactions from you
4:10and let's start, start with last night, and then we'll go to the Thursday night or the Wednesday night game.
4:16We'll start with last night and let's start with the Rams tight ends because you were out there battling on the internet
4:22streets, uh, this morning and last night with, uh, with some trolls.
4:26Yeah. A lot of people were, uh, we're coming at me.
4:29This is just the way that it works during football season.
4:32I'm not complaining. It's fun. And if I'm responding to people, I am not upset.
4:36I promise it's just me having fun. That's all this is.
4:40Okay. So if you guys see me on Twitter, you don't need to say don't respond to the trial.
4:45I'm fine. Okay. This is just, and unless you're going to start digging at like me and my family or something like
4:52that, that's when I'll actually get mad and I'll, you know, do something about it.
4:56But when it comes to football talk, whatever, that's all fun and games, right?
5:00That's what we're here for. I like to converse with people.
5:04I like to have conversation about this kind of stuff.
5:07Otherwise, why would I, why, why would I be doing this for a living?
5:11Like, why would this be my job if I didn't like talking about football with everybody?
5:15And so the Terrence Ferguson thing is really interesting to me, the way that people have reacted.
5:20Now I'm going to say a general thought that I think everyone should take away from this show.
5:26If nothing else is that you, me, people in general will be overstating the living crap out of what goes on in week one.
5:33I mean, it is unreal how people, I mean, remember last year, Keon Coleman was a league winner after week one last year.
5:40You know, there's, there's going to be stuff that the Raiders beat the Patriots last year in week one.
5:45You know, like we have to remember that this is just one game.
5:49It, it, it, I don't really care. I mean, of course I care about production, but I want to see, you know, initial usage.
5:56I want to see kind of what these coaches might be thinking about these players and then dig into the reason why.
6:03Okay. So obviously, you know, I like Terrence Ferguson.
6:05I think that he's a good prior. I thought he was a good prospect.
6:09I think he's a good prospect still. If you want to call him that there's a lot to like about the Rams offense in general.
6:17And a lot of people on social media posts this Thursday night game.
6:21We're essentially saying that it's just a hive mind, you know, group thing type exercise when it comes to a player like
6:27Terrence Ferguson, where analysts are always wrong and they're wrong about this once again.
6:31Okay. Like eightfold, but let's get through it. Terrence Ferguson was a late round pick.
6:36If your expectation is that a late round dark throw ish type player is going to hit and hit right away.
6:42Your expectations are all out of whack. You need to fix those expectations because double digit round picks do not give you
6:48fantasy production at a very high rate whatsoever. Okay.
6:51That's the first thing. The second thing to me, you know, I, I fall in line sometimes with what the general hype
6:58is saying about players, but I'm not doing it simply because, you know, it's, it's a very basic way of, of approaching
7:04the game or there's like a very big, I'm trying to dig in and I'm trying to tell you guys how I actually feel.
7:11I feel about these players. And so with Terrence Ferguson, there is a lot of good data that suggests that previous season,
7:18a dot and previous season slot rate for late round tight ends, give them a higher chance to succeed the following season.
7:24And you obviously you, you want younger tight ends year two, year three tight ends as well, generally.
7:29And so Terrence Ferguson, check those boxes. Now he's not one of those players that are tight end.
7:35That's likely going to have a top two target share on his team.
7:39And that was always a big hurdle, but he was someone that I think could have been like, and maybe he's so
7:45can, you know, like a high end tight end to low end tight end one type player and fantasy football things really clicked.
7:52And so obviously we see what happens in week one, which was, he had one target.
7:57He didn't catch a single pass. He was a zero.
7:59Now I had him ranked at tight end 24, 20, 10 and 25 or something at the beginning of the week.
8:06So it's not like I had very high expectations for Ferguson going into this game.
8:10When you're throwing late round darts in your draft, the expectation is not that they're going to, again, produce in general, but produce right away.
8:17Otherwise they wouldn't be late round picks, right? Of course we'd want that to happen, but that's just, that's just not realistic.
8:24Okay. So I sent a tweet out after halftime that said Terrence Ferguson at a 73% route share, which was factual.
8:30We have a great partner this year with our data and we're going to be able to do stuff like that more
8:37frequently and get some of this data and more real time.
8:40And it's awesome. And hopefully you guys enjoy those insights and the data dumps this year are going to be even better.
8:46And so I had that data and I sent that out.
8:50Guys route share matters. Mount route share matters a lot at tight end and that wide receiver.
8:55And in fact, with today's data in just a second, we'll be talking about route share and its importance to fantasy production.
9:01But here's a little, a little tease to this.
9:04Okay. If you look at tight ends 2016, who have had a 70% route share or better 66% of them scored 10
9:10or more PPR points per game in that season.
9:13Okay. Unfortunately, Terrence Ferguson had a 22% route share in the second half.
9:17So his route share was like 48% in the game overall.
9:20And the biggest problem for Ferguson is that he needs to overcome not playing much at all in 11 personnel.
9:26The majority of his routes are coming in 12, 13, mostly 13.
9:29They play so much 13, 13 personnel. So there's a lot of tight ends on the field.
9:35And then he's running routes in those, in those scenarios.
9:37But I did say this to somebody on Twitter that I think is a really important hypothetical to walk through and to think about.
9:45Okay. As we go into week one and we think about how to manage our fantasy teams and what's predictive and what's not.
9:51So here's a hypothetical that I want to throw out to you guys.
9:55Okay. Consider a, uh, you have, you have two bench tight ends.
9:59Okay. And it's week one week ones done. You didn't use either of them.
10:03Okay. They were on your bench. Tight end. A has a 20% route share in week one, a 10% target share and 14 PPR points.
10:10Okay. Tight end B has a 70% route share, a 5% target share.
10:14So the target share is lower than tight N a and doesn't score a single PPR point.
10:19Which tight end would you find more attractive to go after off the waiver wire after week one?
10:24And to me, it's the guy who didn't score a single fantasy point, but ran a route on 70% of the team's
10:31dropbacks versus the one who ran around on 20% of the team's dropbacks.
10:35If you go and you look at players who there hasn't been a single player since 2016, who had a sub 30%
10:41route share at tight end and scored more than eight PPR points per game in a season.
10:46So the reason why we care about route share is because in order to get a target and then to get a
10:53reception and then to get a yard and to maybe get a touchdown, you have to be running a route.
10:59And in order to run a route, you need a high route share.
11:02You need the team to be deploying you and allowing you to run that route.
11:07And Terrence Ferguson in the first half was doing that.
11:10If Ferguson had a 70% route share throughout the entirety of that game, he would be easily the best more than likely
11:16the best tight end waiver wire pick pickup after week one.
11:20There would almost be no doubt, even if he only had that one target.
11:24Right. We're looking at peripherals because peripherals can help us predict the future.
11:28Now it didn't happen, you know, because of the second half of that game.
11:32So, you know, the Ferguson stuff I think is just more of like you can drop them in some leagues.
11:38That's fine. I think that that's a reasonable thing to like.
11:41Like I, you know, like if you're in a 12 team or a shallower 10 team league or something like that.
11:47Yeah. I mean, like you threw that dart in round 14 round 15 and it didn't work right away.
11:53And if you need space, whatever, I get it.
11:55I understand that. I'm still trying to hold on because I think there's talent there.
12:00And I do think the Rams offense looked like absolute garbage.
12:03And so they might be changing things up and they might want to, you know, switch the way that they deployed their tight ends.
12:10But my gosh, the response me sweet tweeting about a 73% route share and people being like, oh, but where's the fantasy production?
12:17Where do you think fantasy production comes from? It's coming from guys running routes that this is what we want.
12:23And look, I'm not kidding when I say this.
12:25This is why we still have an edge in fantasy football is because people are choosing tight end a in that scenario.
12:32They're choosing the guy who had a random 14 PPR point performance off of a 20% route share when that is totally, totally unsustainable.
12:39Whereas the guy with the 65, 70% route share, that's the guy that you want in your fantasy route.
12:45There's going to be some players out there like a K.
12:48Dot and Theo Johnson last year was kind of one of them who has a high route share and just doesn't give you that amazing of production.
12:56But there's a difference when you have a year two player who was a good prospect in a really good offense.
13:02That's that's the logic behind a Terrence Ferguson type ad and type play.
13:06So I just want to walk through the process of all of that because I think it's very important this time of year week one.
13:13We're looking at peripherals because those peripherals will eventually lead to fantasy points.
13:17Yeah, and you mentioned it in the discord chat.
13:20Maybe the most concerning thing wasn't Terrence Ferguson at all.
13:23It was the people that had paid up for Devante Adams.
13:26Yeah, like if you want to complain about a player in yesterday's game, it's 100%.
13:30I mean, maybe Matthew Stafford, but it's 100% Devante Adams.
13:33You know, Adams had a lower snap rate. Although, again, I think snap rate is a metric that gets a little bit
13:40overused at pass catcher because obviously like they're going to be out there on run plays.
13:44That's not that important for fantasy purposes. Like we care more about the route share stuff.
13:49But even Devante Adams, he missed out on a route in the green zone last night, you know, within the 10 yard line.
13:56And Puka Nakua played all of those those. Remember, I talked about this on the 10 trends episode earlier this week where,
14:02you know, Devante Adams was used so much in that, you know, within at the goal line within the 10 yard line.
14:09Puka Nakua played more than he did in that area.
14:12Puka Nakua, if that continues, like if that were to just continue the rest of the season, Nakua could break records in fantasy football.
14:19Like, because the Rams, the Rams passing attack is not going to be that bad every single week.
14:24It's just not going to happen. And so, like, it was kind of an insanely encouraging usage for Puka.
14:30And then for Devante Adams, yeah, like that's the guy you spent a fifth round pick on, maybe a sixth round pick,
14:36but a fifth round pick on Devante Adams. And he does what he did.
14:40You know, the Terrence Ferguson stuff, even the Matthew Stafford stuff, like you can replace those players.
14:46And that's why they're late round picks. And that's why we can throw those darts and just see what happens.
14:51But the Devante Adams thing to me was a bigger deal.
14:55Yeah, and we'll talk about the Wednesday night game in a second.
14:58But Niners defense looked really good. Seahawks defense looks really good.
15:01You know, you know, just have to keep that in mind.
15:05A little bit of context. You're talking about your players.
15:08Yeah, and Sean McVay has historically been really bad against Kyle Shanahan for the record.
15:12So it's another another thing to keep in mind.
15:15Okay, we had Kramps McCaffrey out there. I didn't know.
15:18No one knew this until today that he was dealing with Kramps last night.
15:22You know, I had a lot of Caelan Black in that game.
15:25It honestly looked good. And not a lot of runs, rushes in that first half, at least for CMC.
15:31Yeah, I want people to be careful about the way that.
15:34And look, I'm saying this as like, you know, your analyst, right?
15:38Like you're listening to the show right now because you want to hear analysis.
15:42And the way that I kind of approach this is that like, I want to do this with you.
15:47And then I want to I want to say tell you guys like what I'm looking for and looking at in order
15:54to not overreact or underreact with these players. Caelan Black, there was one run, I think, in the third quarter where he
16:00kind of hit the outside and he went in between like the corner and the D end.
16:05Maybe as a linebacker and he cut it and he, you know, he was like a 15 yard gain or something like that.
16:12And the late round discord was like, man, Caelan Black looks really good.
16:16He looks really good. And then you look at the replay and the hole that he ran behind was just gaping.
16:22Right. And so you can't I'm not saying you discredit Caelan Black for that.
16:26You know, obviously, that's the offense that he's in and he hit the hole and he played it right.
16:32I mean, he gained good yardage, but it's not as impressive as if a player is breaking arm tackles and doing, you
16:39know, going going that route in order to do so.
16:41And so it's kind of interesting, like when you look at the advanced metrics from the game last night in that backfield, Caelan Black was good.
16:49He had a 3.57 adjusted yards after contact per attempt.
16:52Christian McCaffrey was at 5.22 last night. CMC looked really, really good when he was actually doing things.
16:57And it was all between the tackles when he was doing a lot of his awesome work.
17:02And then the other thing, too, is that Caelan Black had a lot better yards before contact than than CMC did, but like half a yard.
17:10So he was in more advantageous situations. And then he wasn't necessarily doing quite as much as CMC was after that initial contact.
17:17I thought Caelan Black looked good, though. You know, he I don't I don't know if he's going to be used that
17:23much as like a receiver, but it was sort of like a and we'll get to this in a second to a
17:30sort of like a a Rams backfield in the way that they deployed, you know, maybe we won't get to that.
17:36Are we going to get to the Rams backfield at some point?
17:40Yeah, we can talk about it. But the the Caelan Williams Blake Corum thing where we're like, you know, Caelan Black wasn't running a ton of routes.
17:48Christian McCaffrey had a 50% route share. He had a 44% targets per out run rate, which is absolutely bonkers.
17:53So I think the cramps probably played somewhat of a role here.
17:57He only had a 33% rush share, 55% snap shares, basically like one of the lowest that we've seen in a completed
18:04game from him since he joined the 49ers. I think the cramps probably played some role.
18:08He didn't have the same kind of like training camp and, you know, August that that he's that he's had in the
18:15past are probably going to slow play it a little bit.
18:18But I don't think that we're going to see the kind of usage we saw last year from CMC.
18:24Probably not a terrible thing for fantasy, though, because he'll end up hopefully then being fresher and staying healthy.
18:29And, you know, obviously, like last year was awesome to do such a PPR scam.
18:34But, you know, this year, I think that he can still be an RB one very easily.
18:39Given how well that offense performed last night, it's a really good defense on paper.
18:43Niners offense look good in general. Mike Evans look great.
18:46It's what user bougie says. I mean, he I mean, you think about just all the stuff that happens in preseason and
18:52we kind of got a reality check because what happened?
18:55Dajon Stribbling had got had all this steam behind them.
18:58People were kind of fading Mike Evans because of all the injuries.
19:02We talked about it on this show. You liked Mike Evans last night.
19:06He looked vintage. Mike Evans. Dajon Stribbling goes down with an injury.
19:09We're hearing it's an ankle injury, not an Achilles.
19:12So that's good. And then Demarcus Robinson steps up into that role.
19:16Yeah. So post injury. And this is another thing that I can finally do a little bit more with more detail with our data.
19:23But post injury, Demarcus Robinson led the 49ers in route share at 77%.
19:26So that's definitely interesting. If you look at him pre Stribbling ankle injury, Robinson had 26% route share.
19:32So it went up to 77%. That was by far the biggest difference in differential because you look at Mike Evans.
19:38He had 71% post injury. Pre-injury is 59%. Debo 42% to 59%.
19:41You know, there was like a rotation that we saw there.
19:45The one thing that was kind of interesting to me was that while Stribbling was active last night, Mike Evans was playing
19:51more in the slot than I anticipated. Like, I think it was like a 36% slot rate or something like that.
19:57And then he finished the game closer to like 15, 17%.
20:01That, I mean, obviously that's good from just a creating advantageous matchup standpoint, but that's not really what Mike Evans has done historically.
20:07And so I think Stribbling did give them a little bit more of that versatility in the offense if he was going to be a full take.
20:15Cause he can be like, they were using him on, on non pass plays frequently cause he can block well.
20:21So, so I think that injury does hurt like the versatility of things, but then you're going to see more of that target funnel to those other guys.
20:30Demarcus Robinson is the one that kind of gets the most natural boost from the injury because he goes from someone that
20:36you weren't thinking about at all to someone who obviously is going to be on the field a good bit.
20:42All right. Blake co-run, I'm pushing, putting that because he looked good while running the ball, JJ.
20:47Yeah. Look, I, I, I said this in the discord today.
20:50I might become like a Kyron Williams truther this year, which is hilarious because it's just not been on brand for me
20:57necessarily over, you know, at least last year or two years ago, maybe.
21:01But yeah, like it's just wild to me that people are saying that this is just like, like I saw, you know,
21:07sleeper had a tweet where, you know, and I understand that social media people on these big platforms, you know, they're like
21:1424 year old kids just trying to get engagement and such.
21:17Right. And so, but they sent a tweet out that was something along the lines of like, it's a true, uh, a
21:23true battle, like a true split or something like that, or timeshare.
21:27And it really wasn't a true timeshare between Blake Horham and, and, and Kyron Williams.
21:31Kyron Williams had a 63% snap share, Blake Horham 23%.
21:34Uh, it was an even 70 to 30, or it was even 70 to 30 when that game was within seven points,
21:41uh, when, when the Rams were running their offense, uh, within a touchdown.
21:45I talked about this on 10, on the 10 trends episode earlier this week too.
21:49And I think that I'm glad that I talked about it because I think we saw it come to fruition where we
21:55need Blake Horham to do more as a receiver.
21:58Otherwise he's mostly a handcuff that isn't going to give you the most predictable production unless, you know, for sure, the Rams
22:05are going to go into a game and, and slaughter the opponent and, you know, be in this really nice, positive game script.
22:11But Blake Horham ran one route last night, guys.
22:14He ran one route and he was very, very inefficient per route run last season.
22:18So look, they're going to rotate drives. I, you know, look, if you look at what happened, like close to the end
22:25zone and in the red zone and stuff, they did use Kyron Williams, uh, more than Blake Horham in the red zone last year or last night.
22:33Uh, but with that being said, you know, they're, they're rotating drives.
22:36That could have just been like a luck thing for Kyron that, that the good drives he happened to be on the
22:43field for, and he was the main running back on the, in those positions.
22:47But Kyron had a 72% route share last night and Blake Horham, like I said, had one route run.
22:53So he needs to see that pass catching stuff for him to be like a legitimate threat from a fantasy perspective.
22:59And there's nothing in the data that suggested that should happen.
23:02Like Kyron Williams, when he came out of college, people forget this.
23:06He was like a really, really, really good pass catcher.
23:09Like that was his thing. He was a, a questionable, you know, how much work is he going to see given his
23:15size on the ground type of player and prospect, but his receiving profile was borderline elite.
23:20And so Kyron Williams seeing work through the air is probably going to continue to happen, especially if they do end up
23:26falling into these negative game scripts, which is what happened last night.
23:30And that's going to be really good for his fantasy value.
23:33Overall. You need more work as a receiver to be able to be a legitimate threat to, to be start worthy each and every week.
23:40So until we see that change more consistently, I'm not going to be, you know, super, super thrilled about Blake Corum, at least from like a predictability standpoint.
23:49Yeah. We were robbed of some sort of rushing touchdown when they tried to sneak in Matthew Stafford at the one.
23:55And then also we were robbed of garbage points.
23:58I thought we're going to get some garbage points at the end.
24:01And then he trots out, you know, with three minutes left.
24:04Yeah. Stetson Bennett and the back. I forget who the backup running back was, but guys that you like.
24:10Yes. Yes. Guys that you remember from like the prospect guy two or three years ago.
24:15Yeah. Getting to the game on Wednesday night. Patriots.
24:17We're just reminded about the brutal nature, immediately reminded about the brutal nature with, Sam Darnold going out and then AJ Brown also being hurt.
24:25Yeah. So AJ Brown's injury, I think is so like, obviously like the Sam Darnold thing, it sounds like it's only going
24:31to be, or it sounds like it could be like a week or two.
24:35Like it's not nearly as bad as it initially seemed.
24:38I thought Drew Locke actually played. Okay. He's got a little bit of rushing juice, you know, from a standalone value, maybe super flex standpoint.
24:46You know, I think JSN was bailed out a little bit on that touchdown in terms of fantasy production because New England,
24:52they even talked about it after the game. They kind of sold out on the run on that play.
24:58And then obviously JSN took advantage. JSN is unbelievably good.
25:01You know, we had talked a lot about him with best ball and such, because I kept getting like the 105 to 107 in these best ball drafts.
25:09So I have a lot of JSN in my portfolio.
25:12I think that the way he combats a lot of the efficiency from regression that's going to come from last year is through more volume.
25:19Just naturally, Seattle's probably going to throw more. The defense looked good, obviously, in week one, but I don't, I still don't
25:26think it's going to be as good as it was last year because it's just really hard to maintain that kind of dominance.
25:33So we'll see what happens there. But JSN's fine.
25:35Even if Drew Locke is starting, I think JSN's fine.
25:38Do you have some? Go ahead. No, I was going to say, what were you going to say there?
25:44We have some breaking news that Tua is out.
25:46Not going to be planned. We'll talk about that in a second.
25:50But I want to get to the Jadarian Price usage because Jadarian Price looked really good.
25:55Again, looked really good. But then we were just reminded about the Seahawks backfield.
25:59Yeah. Yeah. And I want to do the A.J.
26:02Brown stuff, too, just if people are curious about.
26:04So since I'm talking about the Seattle, I'll talk about Jadarian Price.
26:08So Price had a 48% rush share, a 50% snap share, a 41% route share.
26:12Those are all the things I talked about on the mailbag episode this week.
26:16If you look at that at face value, it's RB3 type usage from a fantasy perspective.
26:21It's high end, maybe mid RB3 type stuff, like RB30 type usage.
26:25The problem, obviously, is that he was subbed out for Emmanuel Wilson on that short down and distance play close to the end zone before they were penalized.
26:33So it didn't really count. So we don't really have data for that because it didn't count.
26:38But he was subbed out in short yardage down the distance.
26:41And so that means that he's probably not going to be the goal linebacker.
26:45And then, you know, the route share was 41%, which is it's OK, but he wasn't playing on third downs.
26:51He wasn't running routes on third downs. That was George Helani.
26:54And I know that it's frustrating and I'm with you.
26:57I think it is frustrating because I thought Jadarian Price at least looked good.
27:01He looked explosive. You know, the stuff that we liked on the ground from him in college definitely was translating.
27:07But Seattle's a team where last year I said this on the show this morning, the mailbag episode.
27:13But Seattle's a team where they split their backfield last year and they were rewarded with a Super Bowl win.
27:19And the guy who helped them get there and get it done was the MVP of the game and Kenneth Walker, who
27:25was fresh, you know, and eventually Jadarian Price is going to have Zach Charbonnet coming back from injury.
27:30And so I do fear for sure that Jadarian Price is going to be more lives up to expectation where he was
27:37drafted in terms of points per game and such, but doesn't necessarily far exceeded.
27:41He's going to have spiked weeks because he has big playability.
27:44But I don't think he's like bench worthy or anything like that.
27:48I'm just saying that I don't know if we're going to see a league winning type season from Jadarian Price this year,
27:54just based on the fact like if if we would have seen a scenario where he had like a, you know, like a 75% snap share.
28:02And he had a 55% route share and things were, I would feel better about this.
28:07But the fact that they are using George Helani, the fact that Emmanuel Wilson is still involved, the fact that Zach Charbonnet
28:13is going to be coming back eventually. And the fact that they have this history of the way they deploy the backfield last year.
28:20And by the way, Kenneth Walker, I think we should say is a better player than Jadarian, like veteran Kenneth Walker is
28:27a better player than rookie Jadarian Price. Now I might not end up being that way, but I think from a projection
28:33standpoint, we should make that assumption, generally speaking. And so I don't mind Price.
28:37I think he's a hold overall in fantasy, but I do think we should temper expectations that, you know, as good as
28:44players sometimes look, it's not the way that that volume always matches.
28:47You know, the teams can do whatever they want in their backfield.
28:51And I think Seattle, at least over the next couple of weeks, will probably still use more George Helani than we want is what I'll say.
28:59And then the last thing with this game, AJ Brown, I'll just give you guys some some route share numbers before and after that injury for AJ Brown.
29:07So Demario Douglas actually led the team in routes, which is crazy.
29:10But he went from a 74% route share pre-injury to an 83% one.
29:14Now, keep in mind, they were trailing down the stretch in that game and trying to come back.
29:20So they were running out of a lot more 11 personnel.
29:23We'll see what happens, you know, now that this is like solidified and they know going into the game, they're not going to have AJ Brown.
29:30I think we might see a little bit more 12 and Eli Raritan getting a little bit more work, even though he did score that touchdown.
29:38But Eli Raritan might get more work without AJ Brown.
29:41So Demario Douglas goes from a 74% route share to 83%.
29:44Romeo Dobbs only had a 53% route share before AJ Brown went down.
29:48And then it turned into 79% when AJ Brown was out.
29:51Matt Collins is probably the biggest one, the biggest jump.
29:54He went from 21% to 71%. And then Kyle Williams, 11% to 21%.
29:58So, you know, if you were to like throw a dart at someone on the waiver wire, I'm probably saying Mac because
30:05Demario Douglas is kind of a lower ceiling asset in the way that they deploy him.
30:09I also worry about what happens if they run more 12.
30:13So Matt Collins is probably the guy, but I just, I think it's going to be a committee approach, a wide receiver, if you will.
30:20It's like, we saw this last year, right? Like this is the, essentially the wide receiver room from last year, except you
30:27have Romeo Dobbs instead of like Keishon Booty. And it's not like we were like eager to start these guys week in and week out.
30:34So I think that's the way we got to look at it right now.
30:38Also, Drake may 0 for 12 against teams with winning records right now in the NFL.
30:43That's kind of crazy. That is pretty crazy, but we don't, we don't say bad things about local hero.
30:48Drake may on that. Okay. All right. Yeah. He's from, he's from the area that I live kitchen.
30:54Sorry. Let's get it. I don't, I don't need, I don't need the may family to come to my house and stuff.
31:00All right. All right. I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding.
31:03No, no. I think it's all very valid. Like last year, I, I remember tweeting once about the Patriots schedule and we
31:10still meme about it in discord all the time.
31:12I was pretty close cause they almost won the Superbowl.
31:15I made a banner about, uh, you know, them, them having a good regular season record or something like that.
31:21But, uh, yeah, I mean, like I, I, I think it could be somewhat of a thing, but look, people are looking
31:28at, I saw the, the one comparison to Shador Sanders of over their last like five games or whatever.
31:33Yeah. Drake may has played a gauntlet of tough defenses over his last handful of games.
31:38So let's give him a little bit of a break.
31:41I still think Drake may is a very good player.
31:44I didn't see the shooter Sanders one. I definitely shared the, uh, the cam ward one with my, uh, cam ward shocker.
31:50I just needed some, anything to make cam ward look not bad.
31:54A hundred percent. I'm just going to auto retweet for me.
31:57All right. Uh, speaking of quarterbacks, Tua is out.
32:00So let's, let's lead with this and we'll get into the Bowers and Jacobs news.
32:04Tua is out. Cooper rush going to be starting for the Atlanta Falcons week one.
32:09How good do you feel about those Drake London B John Kyle pits teams right now?
32:13What are you saying? Like you feel better that Tua is out?
32:17That with them? No, no. I honestly, like I, I felt, you know, Tua is not good.
32:22Um, we need, we need Michael Penix. We need Michael Penix under center because Michael Penix with, with Drake London last year
32:28or Drake London with Michael Penix last year was awesome.
32:31Uh, and so I, uh, I definitely, or at least over the last since, since Michael Penix entered the league, uh, Drake
32:38London's peripherals have been amazing with Michael Penix. So we just need that to, I think it's going to happen sooner rather than later.
32:45But yeah, I mean, I think it's like probably a slight bump down for these guys.
32:50Uh, you're still playing B John Robinson. I think Drake London is probably a little bit overvalued by the market right now,
32:56but just this week, but regardless, starting him though, still playing them.
33:00Yeah. Unfortunately, it's, it's not, it's like, you know, you might, you might honestly have a better option, but you would have
33:06a very hard time benching Drake London. Right. Um, so yeah, like those two guys and then Kyle pits, you know, I
33:13moved down to the bottom of his tier instead of towards the top of the tier, but I don't think that there's
33:19really that big of a difference here because it's not like we had high expectations for Tua anyway.
33:24It's just going to be a matter of, I think how they disperse their targets, because we would feel a lot better
33:31about B John Robinson with Tua because he's had this tendency, regardless of personnel to dump it off, especially since all the concussion stuff has happened.
33:39All right. Now let's get to the Brock Bowers news going to be out at first.
33:43They said like, you know, one or two weeks, it sounds like it's going to be later than that.
33:49He had like a month, month and a half.
33:52Yeah. A little bit of his meniscus trimmed. Yeah.
33:54No big deal. Yeah. Just the padding in between your, your, your knee.
33:58So it's fine. Yeah. We just, we just, you know, we just go to the local store and we just get our meniscus trimmed and we're fine.
34:06And we're only out for a week. It's no big deal.
34:09No, I mean, it's bad. If you, if you can get Michael Mayer, I would pick up Michael Mayer.
34:15I think he could be a tight end one without Brock Bowers.
34:18I mean, I talked about this on the show that dropped earlier this morning, Michael Mayer's peripherals last year without Bowers 2.22
34:25yards per outrun rate, you know, 28% targets per outrun 12 PPR points per game and a really bad offense.
34:31Like there's a lot to like about Michael Mayer without Brock Bowers.
34:34So I think that if you have Bowers and I do on some teams, I picked up Michael Mayer on some of
34:41them, you know, in the non, and I think I only had about like, I only got Bowers in leagues where they
34:47were shallower, you know, the stuff that I preach all the time about going after onesie positions.
34:52So Michael Mayer in those situations should be, or was available when all that happened.
34:57I think he's actually going to be okay. Michael Mayer.
35:00And we'll talk about him in a little bit.
35:02Yes. Yes. I, um, I benched George Kittle last night for Michael Mayer based on our rankings and that first drive for the Niners.
35:09I was like, you're cursing my name. What have I done?
35:13But it turned out okay. All right. Yeah. Uh, we have more, more of a roller coaster with the Josh Jacobs situation.
35:19Now it looks like, uh, he's going to plead guilty to some lesser charges, uh, there.
35:24So we had all of our legal experts in the chat.
35:27It was nice. Say, I will say it was nice in the discord having multiple lawyers in the chats that, uh, were,
35:34were kind enough to kind of break things down for.
35:37Unfortunately, lawyers though, know that they can't speak in absolutes because they're smart people.
35:41Yeah. They're giving themselves some outs. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I mean, it's just really difficult.
35:45There's like different jurisdictions and it's all, you know, so he pled no contest, Josh Jacobs, which essentially isn't a mission of
35:52guilt without having to say like, like I did this.
35:55Right. Um, and so, you know, he's still on this exempt list.
35:58I sent a, a message to, to, to discord members on yesterday.
36:02So on the 10th, and I said in the redraft channel that I actually think Josh Jacobs now, like in this, there's
36:08a very short window probably where I might try to trade for Josh Jacobs in my redraft leagues for very little, you
36:15know, just try to low ball something and see what, cause the headlines right now are he pleads no contest.
36:21He's still on the exempt list. Like that's, those are two very bad things, but realistically, as he's on the exempt list,
36:27it can, it can count towards his suspension. So if they deem that it's a six game suspension, you know, he's already serving one game.
36:34So it's five more. So that that's kind of, I I'm now of the belief that I think Jacobs is going to be suspended for six games.
36:42Now, you know, Drew Davenport, who's a friend of the show, who's done a lot of, of good legal work in the past.
36:49You know, he makes the point. And then I think is important is that Jacobs being put on the exempt list to
36:56begin with kind of does signal that there could be something at the NFL, whether it's that video, that's kind of been
37:02rumored going around or whatever the case may be at the NFL.
37:06Has like more information than what the public does.
37:08But I do think that the most likely outcome right now is probably a six game suspension.
37:13And we'll see though, because I, you know, Marshawn Lloyd shows up and there's probably going to be more of a committee
37:20in the green Bay backfield whenever Josh Jacobs comes back, if he comes back.
37:24So still a lot up in the air, but that's kind of my feel right now.
37:29And yes, it's gross. I get it. You know, I'm not, I'm only saying this from a fantasy football perspective and analyst
37:35perspective, not, you know, a real light. If you don't want to trade for Josh Jacobs, totally understand.
37:41Yeah. Okay. The guys that we are concerned about, Jinty, love, neighbors, even though he, you know, put out some stuff that
37:47looks like he's on track to play. All these guys on track to play for week one.
37:52So that's good. Keep an eye on alerts on Sunday morning.
37:55And, but the last thing is that Alvin Kamara looks like he's going to be playing week one.
38:01That's a shocker to me. Yeah. I'm not, I didn't really change that much with the HN ranking.
38:06I bumped them down, I think one or two spots just because we could end up seeing a little bit less pass catching from them.
38:13But I, you know, it's hard to project what Alvin Kamara's workload is going to look like just in general.
38:19So, you know, let's just see what it looks like.
38:22Like I'm fine with just being kind of a week late.
38:25If Kamara is useful in some way, I don't think that people are going to have to play him and week one in most leagues.
38:33And it probably does do a little bit to Travis HN.

39:36Nationwide Investment Services Corporation, Ember FINRA, Columbus, Ohio. Today's data.
39:39All right, JJ, we're looking at route share versus PPR points per game for 2025 tight ends.
39:44All I'm doing here is giving you guys a visual.
39:47So sorry to the audio listeners out there, but I'm giving you guys a visual of how correlated PPR points per game is to route share.
39:55Okay. Now, the way that R squared works, you're the TLDR saying that this is how much this, how much this variable explains this variable.
40:02Right. And so when you have a larger sample of like bad tight ends, like this one showing, you can see that
40:09cluster in the bottom left of this chart. That's just going to increase your correlation, your R squared number.
40:14And so when you go out on, I've said this before on the show, but if you go out on the Twitter
40:21streets on social media and someone's asking you what the R squared is of whatever you're looking at, it's kind of irrelevant
40:27without understanding the sample and getting any sort of comparison.
40:30Right. What I can tell you is that within this sample that I'm using, which is every tight end that basically ran
40:37routes last year and played eight games or maybe not even, I don't even think that was a qualifier.
40:42But what I can tell you is that the R squared.
40:46So how much of this explains this? It's the easiest way to think of it.
40:50The R squared for route share versus PPR points per game is almost identical to target share versus PPR points per game
40:56because route share is very, very important. You can see some of these pictures in the top, right?
41:02Where you get like, you know, the Bowers, the Trey McBride, George Kittle and Tucker craft are these anomalies who are not
41:08getting as good of a route share, but getting really good points per game.
41:12Kyle pits a little bit below the trend line, but the trend line is so freaking strong, which is why the 73% route share.
41:20You can see all the tight ends last year who were above the 73% route share mark.
41:25And there's not many of them. And that's where Terrence Ferguson was in the first half, which is why I sent that tweet.
41:31So this is going back to the Terrence Ferguson conversation, but I want you guys to visualize how strong that correlation actually
41:38is between route share and PPR points per game.
41:40All right, let's get on to the main event for week one.
41:44I'm excited. The late round main event. All right.
41:47These are players that you like more than consensus, JJ.
41:50Yes. So we'll be doing this every week. We'll go through some players that I like more than where consensus has them ranked.
41:56It's kind of hard this week to, I had to remove players that had already played.
42:01So whenever I give you guys the ranking here, it's without the players that have already played.
42:06So like I had, you know, like Stafford ahead of, which was a mistake ahead of like Tyler Shuck going into this week, but so did consensus.
42:14So Tyler Shuck is my quarterback that I'm going to call out first.
42:18I have him four spots ahead of consensus. It's a domed environment against Detroit.
42:22Shuck scored 19.6 points per game over his final six last year.
42:26You know that he brings some juice with his legs.
42:29The Lions have a below average secondary and the Saints are going to have to keep pace because the Lions offense is obviously good.
42:36And they also run at a fast pace. So I like Shuck this week, four spots higher than, than where consensus has.
42:42Okay. Running back, we have Mr. Chris Rodriguez jr.
42:45Yeah. I'm actually higher on tootin as well this week.
42:48I think that both of them can, can eat and what should be a positive game script for Jacksonville against Cleveland.
42:54They're one of the biggest favorites. I think they're the second biggest favorite behind only LA this week.
42:59So good positive game script against the Browns. I, I think that we're going to see more of an, an even split.
43:06Like we, a lot of these ambiguous backfields, you guys are going to give up on some players guaranteed because it happens every year.
43:13You're going to give up on some players early on, but a lot of these ambiguous backfields are, they'll start out as more like 50, 50, 55, 45.
43:21And then once a player, you know, deems himself to be better or shows off that he's better, you'll start to see
43:28that, that sort of shift towards that player and in that player's favor.
43:31And then obviously there's injury upside too. So I think we're going to start the season with, with Chris Rodriguez and Basial
43:38Tootin in a pretty even split with Tootin, Tootin probably running more routes in general, uh, at least on early downs.
43:44But, uh, there's a positive game script. That's where, that's where Chris Rodriguez can thrive.
43:49He's really good between the tackles with nothing else.
43:51Okay. Wide receiver. We have friend of the show, Mr.
43:54Ted Roy McMillan. Yes. T-Mac. Uh, I have him four spots ahead of consensus this week.
43:59The Panthers want to be run heavy. We've seen that with Dave Canales, but they might not be able to, uh, in this matchup against Chicago.
44:07T-Mac rotated into the slot a lot in the preseason, like a 40% rate.
44:11I don't think we're going to see that high of a slot rate for him, but it is really intriguing for what
44:17he could do from a production standpoint. Chicago last year was an above average matchup against wide receivers.
44:22I don't think we're afraid of this defense, but they were an above average matchup for, for perimeter wide receivers and wide
44:29receivers in general, but they were the number one team overall in points per game allowed to the slot.
44:35So it's a slot wide out. So if we get, um, you know, or points per game allowed to slot wide, I
44:41was like, you know, obviously a, a Frankenstein of them, not just the guys who are being lined up in the slot, uh, throughout that game.
44:49So T-Mac good matchup overall could be really interesting if they do throw a lot.
44:53Uh, I also think he's just a good player.
44:56Okay. Tight end. Of course we have Mr. Michael Mayer.
44:59So to get the consensus ranking for Michael Mayer, I tried to find people who had updated their rankings, you know, by
45:05like well after the Brock Bowers and rehab. And I'm six spots ahead of the market with Michael Mayer this week.
45:11I'm very high, uh, without Brock Bowers last year, I already mentioned this 28% targets per outrun rate, 2.22 yards per outrun
45:1812 PPR points per game, really good matchup against Miami.
45:21It's a tight end friendly offense with Clint Kubiak there.
45:24I think Michael Mayer is going to be good without Brock Bowers in the mix.
45:28All right, next let's do bold predictions for week one.
45:31This guy was, if you listened to the Austin Eckler perspectives episode, he was featured there.
45:36Now he's going to be featured here. Yes. Uh, I, I'm, you know, I was in on a Mario Hampton.
45:42Like I, I, I didn't like have them call them out as a, as a target per se, but I didn't mind
45:48him at all where he was being drafted because I could see the bowl case.
45:53I thought he was a really good prospect as well.
45:56Um, but I, I, I'm saying my, my bold prediction this week is that he's going to be the RB one in fantasy football, like the RB one.
46:04So it's bold. I'm going to say why they're bold.
46:07These predictions, like I do with the bold predictions article I do each year, because that way then, you know, people can
46:13understand, you know, the context, but right now he's ranked as the RB seven.
46:18So I think it is bold saying that he'll be the RB one on the week.
46:22It's the biggest favorite on the slate though. The chargers are and keep Mitchell, I think is, you know, fine enough and
46:29probably we'll see an okay enough workload, but he is a little bit banged up or he, he has been banged up.
46:35So maybe we don't see the same kind of work that he would otherwise see.
46:40And that could just lead to more Amari and Hampton behind, you know, an offensive line that finally has their tackles back.
46:46Okay. Uh, we also have a Malik Willis bowl prediction.
46:49Had to go, had to go with Malik Willis to, uh, to kick things off, uh, kick, kick the season off because
46:56I've been talking about Malik Willis so much, but I'm going to say he outscores Jaden Daniels this week.
47:01We're talking about the consensus QB 11 versus the consensus QB 18.
47:05I don't think this is that bold though. I really don't like, I know the names make it bold.
47:10But it's really, you know, I'm cheating a little bit.
47:13Cause I just don't think it's that, that bold.
47:16I'm scared of that Philly defense, which is who Washington's playing against.
47:19Uh, the, the Washington offensive line took a big hit when Tunsil went down.
47:24Uh, Willis has a much better matchup against the Raiders and his team total is only like a point lower than what Washington's is.
47:31So I'm going to, I'm going to say that Malik Willis outscores Jaden Daniels this week.
47:35And again, I don't, I don't think it's like that massive of a reach.
47:40All right. Um, next let's get to the look ahead waiver wire.
47:43And again, these are guys that you're not rostering for this upcoming week.
47:47You're saving some cash, JJ. It's like, it's, you know, it's, it's prime week or whatever, you know, the black Friday you're,
47:53you're anticipating that you're going to need someone. So you're adding these guys before they're expensive.
47:58Yeah. I mean, we'll see. Some of them are, are definitely players that like I liked this week, you know, unlike the
48:0515 transactions episode and stuff like that. But you're right.
48:08This is the idea behind the look ahead waiver wire is to get cheaper assets than you will next week.
48:13So try to predict what might happen in week one or look at upcoming matchups and saying, oh, this guy's a good matchup.
48:20So he could go off next week and people are going to be into him.
48:25So I'll start a quarterback, CJ Stroud gets Cincinnati next week.
48:28I think Cincinnati secondary is way better than what the market does.
48:31I will say that. I think they're like, I said, didn't I say it up before that?
48:37I think they're going to win the Superbowl this year.
48:39Like they're my Superbowl pick. Yeah. Like I, I, I think Cincinnati's defense is going to be better than what it was last year.
48:47And so we're looking at this matchup. We're saying Cincinnati looks great on paper.
48:51And I'm like, it looks okay on paper. And I do think that there's going to be back and forth nature to
48:57these games because of Joe Burrow and such and what that offense can do.
49:01But regardless, CJ Stroud, we'll see how he, how he looks in week one against Buffalo.
49:06He could be a streamer next week at 29% rostered over on Yahoo.
49:10And he gets Cincinnati Malik Willis gets San Francisco.
49:13He's at a 40% rostered right now. San Francisco looked good defensively last night.
49:17So maybe I could remove this, but you know, this is more just the, will it, let's see what Willis does.
49:23This week. And I'm, I'm obviously high on him from a fantasy perspective.
49:27So those are the two quarterbacks I would look ahead to entering week number two.
49:31I'm going to take a sip of this. You can kind of introduce the next, the next group.
49:36Yeah. We've got Keaton Mitchell on here. And again, Kalen Black on here.
49:40You can't really add him probably right now, but true.
49:43Look for next week. Yeah. And I have these other guys on here too, like Debo's on here.
49:49Um, you know, Demarcus Robinson, the Patriots wide receivers.
49:51We talked about all of them. So you know what?
49:54I'm just going to remove those guys, but the market, look, Demarcus Robinson and Debo are really interesting because they get Miami next week.
50:01That's obviously going to be a pretty good matchup.
50:04We'll take Kalen Black off of here. And there are some leagues that you can still do it.
50:09Yeah. You can still pick up a guy and start them next week.
50:13Yeah. But Keaton Mitchell, he's still available in 41% of leagues.
50:16Chris Brooks, it's more speculative. Like what if they, you know, use more of him than we think here in week one?
50:23I think that might be possible too, because Minnesota, uh, their defense has been, you know, is, is, is good and they
50:29might be able to get to Jordan love and they might want more of a pass protector back there, which is what Chris Brooks is.
50:37So I can see Chris Brooks being a player that we're highlighting in waiver wire columns next week, which is kind of what this exercise is all about.
50:45Um, so those are the two running backs and I, I want to shout.
50:49Football is the ultimate team game on any single play.
50:52It takes all 11 guys to execute it successfully.
50:55And whether they're pounding the A gap or taking a deep shot, the best teams win in multiple ways.
51:00That's why bet three, six, five is giving fans options all season long with their early bird special cash out availability or early payout.
51:07But three, six, five offers a bunch of different ways to play, whether it's boosted profits before the game or getting paid
51:14out when your team goes up big, there's no shortage of exciting options.
51:18Plus you can cash out anytime. Bet three, six, five where winning is everything.

51:31Void where prohibited. Download the app today. Nationwide is so much more than a great insurance company.
51:36They're one of America's largest financial services companies. Just like I'm so much more than quarterback Peyton Manning.
51:41I'm also Peyton Manning. Insurance and financial services together.
51:44It's a masterpiece. Peyton Manning does it again. For your insurance and financial needs, Nationwide is on your side.
51:49Nationwide Investment Services Corporation, Ember FINRA, Columbus, Ohio. And next we have the wide receiver position.
51:54Kayshawn Booty was a guy, I think that the Patriots might be like, ah, maybe we should have kept him now.
52:00Yeah, like different wide receiver than A.J. Brown, but they definitely could use the depth right now.
52:05That's for sure. You know? So yeah, I mean, I think that trade was kind of weird when it happened to begin with.
52:12But I think Booty, you know, I talked about him on the mailbag episode where if Houston does run a lot more
52:18heavy 12, maybe 13 personnel, because they have just as many tight ends on that team as they do wide receivers right now.
52:25So if they run more 12 personnel, we're going to see Nico Collins on the field, obviously.
52:30But then Booty is probably the other one that we'll see most frequently.
52:34And that can be good for his fantasy value because we see more efficient touches when there's fewer wide receivers on the field.
52:41But then me being okay with Kayshawn Booty does not mean that I'm fading Jalen Knoll.
52:46He was a target in the draft guide, Jalen Knoll was.
52:49The upside, I think, rests with Jalen Knoll more than Kayshawn Booty, because there was a lot to like about what Knoll did last year.
52:56Like he was very vertical out of the slot, kind of like, I mean, I don't want to, I don't want, I
53:03don't want to do the kind of Parker Washington-esque in that way.
53:06He's not built like Parker Washington. He's a lot smaller than, than Parker Washington is, but he's also, I shouldn't say a lot smaller.
53:13He's, he's not as much of a running back build as Washington is, but he still is like, you know, like he
53:20got a Randall Cobb comp coming out in the, in the zap model last year.
53:24Jalen Knoll did. He was good on a pretty good on a per round run basis, all things considered.
53:30So I think Jalen Knoll is still very interesting.
53:32It's just, I don't know if you're going to get production right away from Knoll, but I could see a scenario where
53:39he's highlighted in waiver wire columns next week, because maybe his route share just looks better.
53:44Maybe they move them outside more than they did last year.
53:47And we get those little hints of them wanting to deploy him more.
53:51And I think he's a really talented player. So we could then be ahead a week or two ahead with a player like Noel, if that's the case.
53:59So keep him in mind. Uh, Don Tavian Wicks.
54:02I've talked about so much on the show at this point.
54:05So you guys know why, uh, I'm, I'm into Wicks where, you know, Makai Lemon had a bad preseason, didn't really practice that much during training camp.
54:13I think Wicks is going to start out as their number two wide receiver.
54:17Uh, and they have a good matchup this week too.
54:20Devon Valey, same deal with, uh, with Jordan Tyson being out, he should be their number two wide out and then throw that dart at Pat Bryant, man.
54:28There's a lot of steam coming out of Denver.
54:31And, uh, as everyone knows, I'm the biggest Cortland Sutton hater on the planet.
54:35You know, they, they said that, um, he could have a bigger role than expected initially.
54:40So, uh, good news for him and those that, you know, have like Pat Bryant on their dynasty rosters or best ball rosters.
54:47My question is this, you know, these guys could be big play guys.
54:50Inevitably there's going to be some receiver. You mentioned Keon Coleman from last year that just goes off week one.
54:56And you're like, yes, I've got him or I need to get him.
55:00How are you measuring just like the, the flukiness of that versus like, all right, this guy, this is a legit signal.
55:07I need to add him. I always say like, I think it's really important to look at the historical context of that player.
55:13And also just in general, like I always go back to the Puka Nakua example when he went off in week one, what do you have?
55:21Like 15 targets, I think in his first NFL game, like it was crazy.
55:25Yeah. And so like I, I had him as a late round dart throw that year in the draft guide.
55:31And I'm not saying that to pat myself on the back, but I'm saying that in kitchens, kitchens, look, yeah, no.
55:37Yeah, you did. Yeah. My ultimate hype man. But no, like with Nakua, there was at least something interesting to his prospect profile.
55:44Like he had a really good yards per out run rate.
55:47I was getting a lot of steam out of Rams camp.
55:51And then if you looked at historical context of rookie wide receivers in week one, who did anything like that, they usually
55:57went on to have really good rookie season. So it was a lot easier to buy into that and say, Hey, blow
56:04your, your free agent budget on hookah or at least spend a lot and get him and then kind of ride this out.
56:10So it's a combination of, you know, looking at historical context, like if it's a random year, six wide receiver, who's never
56:17done anything like that before in his life. And he goes off in week one, I'm not gonna really buy into that that much.
56:24But if it's a younger player who had really good peripherals as a rookie and was like a really interesting prospect, I'll
56:30probably lean into that a little bit more. I mean, like even Keon Coleman last year, I don't think it was bad process.
56:37If you ended up like leaning into it a little bit after that week one game, it's just that, you know, I
56:44don't think that he was like that amazing of a prospect or anything, but you know, that made some sense because he's younger.
56:50It was year two. It just didn't end up working out.
56:54And, you know, just be aware that this stuff doesn't always work out.
56:58It's not always going to work in your favor, but I do think that looking at the individual player and the context
57:04of that player and where he's at in his NFL career, that goes a long way in understanding if that breakout is legit or not.
57:11All right. We've already talked about Michael Mayer, so no need to really revisit there.
57:16As far as those that are streaming team defenses, you've got the Packers on here, the 49ers who looked really good.
57:22And then the Bucks. Yeah. So the 49ers are great.
57:25They obviously, you obviously can't pick them up now, so I could remove them, but they look good defensively and they get the Dolphins next week.
57:33I am very interested to see with all the travel hoopla that's going on about how the Rams got there like 24
57:39hours before the game started and the 49ers were there for like a week.
57:43Part of the reason why the Rams did that is because then they wouldn't be as jet lagged coming back, which is a bigger deal.
57:51So if the 49ers are feeling jet lagged after the fact, I do wonder how that might impact them overall.
57:57But I would say that the, you know, it's still the Dolphins and you can still probably play them next week.
58:03Uh, the Packers get the jets. That's, that's a good matchup on paper.
58:07And then the Buccaneers get the Browns, which is another good matchup on paper.
58:11So if you want to, you know, you could technically try to stream the Packers this week as like a defense to
58:17type, you know, like I don't know. I probably have them at like defense 15 or 16 or something like that this
58:24week with, with some of these teams having already played.
58:27You can take that risk because there's a lot of volatility there and then just say, Hey, I have them against the jets then next week.
58:34I think they have a good week three matchup too, if I recall correctly.
58:38Uh, and then the Buccaneers against the Browns for obvious reasons, uh, the Browns are probably going to be a disaster offensively.
58:45Let's just be real. Yeah. If they do come out just guns a blazing, it would be hilarious.
58:50Like I would just be here for all the absurdity of it.
58:54Uh, something absurd is going to happen week one.
58:56Oh yeah. That would be something that I would, I would just be in favor of all the chaos it would cause.
59:03All right, JJ, let's wrap this up with something you might've forgotten about.
59:07It's the quad box. We have to pick four games and I've got these games listed right here.
59:12Oh wow. I didn't even see that they were there.
59:15Yes. Uh, we've got these games listed. So you have to pick two games.
59:19I picked two games of games that we would put on our hypothetical quad box for this week.
59:24Do you want me to go first or you do on first pack?
59:28You, you can go first. I don't mind. All right.
59:31The first one that I'm going to pick because I think it's going to be very fun and fantasy relevant.
59:37Yeah. You're going to think I'm going to go.
59:40I think the Titans, I know you are. You think I'm going to go Tampa Bay, Cincinnati probably, but I am going to go New Orleans, Detroit.
59:48I think it's a fun game. Okay. All right.
59:50So New Orleans, Detroit, and I, I will go ahead and take the low hanging fruit with the books at banks.
59:57Okay. It's going to be interesting because Cincinnati has been so bad in week one and in recent years.
60:02Um, all right. Next. I, uh, I kind of want to go for just like general interest of the, how, how, like
60:09how, how impactful this game might be from a real NFL standpoint.
60:12There's a couple that you can go to here.
60:15I'm going to say Buffalo Houston. Okay. That's a good one.
60:18Yeah. Yeah. I, I'm actually not going to pick either of the primetime games.
60:22I'm going to go with the Packers versus the Vikings.
60:25Lots of unknowns here. We've got Kyler under center with the Vikings.
60:29Got, uh, you know, obviously the running back situation with the, the Packers, but also I love Jordan love this, this season.
60:35So I want to see, I want to see what this, uh, this offense is all about.
60:40So how they, how they deploy those wide receivers too.
60:43Yeah. That could be a really fun game. So that's, uh, that's the fourth game in the quad box.
60:49I kind of considered the, uh, the other two that I would consider is Washington Philly.
60:54I think it's kind of intriguing because it's a, you know, divisional game.
60:57Jane Daniels is healthy. I think Philly's defense is going to be really good.
61:02And we get to see what the Eagles offense looks like.
61:05So that would be one. And then part of me, part of me is excited about the Cardinals chargers game.
61:11I just, just because the, the, we get to see Mike McDaniel with Justin Herbert in this offense.
61:16And then obviously we've been talking about Arizona all summer where they have all these highly drafted players in fantasy, but they're
61:23not projected to score many points at all via sports books.
61:26So, uh, that's, that's another game from like a strictly a fantasy perspective that I am kind of intrigued by.
61:32Yeah. You can defeat the purpose of the quad box, but that's okay.
61:35I know, but, but I give a little bit more context.
61:39We skirt the rules around here. All right. Uh, just want to remind people to like subscribe, comment to the YouTube channel.

62:27There's going to be a lot of stuff that I get right.
62:30There's going to be a lot of stuff that I get egregiously wrong, but hopefully you guys can understand that that's just
62:37the way this game is played and that you don't have to be perfect to win a fantasy football title.
62:43That's right. And this is like the next, the next chapter of you could have dominated your draft and got guys like,
62:49you know, AJ Brown late in the, you know, late hours in round three.
62:53Right. But now is where, now is where you, uh, you really make those moves.
62:58This is more important. This is more important than your draft.
63:01Yeah, for sure. But the draft is, is more fun than having to replace your highly touted, you know, tied in with, with his backup.
63:08But, um, all right, JJ week one, the show week one in the books, we'll look forward to the games on Sunday and Monday.
63:16And again, like you said, we just appreciate everyone for their support this whole off season.
63:20I'm so excited to be getting back into the routine of the end season content.

63:44And man, it's just wild. If you go there and just see everything that happened, just kind of recount how chaotic that day was.
63:52So, um, don't want to, to leave without acknowledging that.
63:54So, uh, appreciate you all. Thank you all. We'll see you next time here on the late round fantasy football show.
