Caleb Williams

PositiveValue0:17

Caleb Williams is a player I'm comfortable drafting in round six, especially when stacking with pass catchers like Luther Burden.

Insight page

Cam Ward

PositiveRole0:54

Cam Ward is expected to receive a full season to prove himself, which could lead to significant upside.

Insight page

Chris Godwin

PositiveValue0:44

Chris Godwin is a great value pick this year, especially with Mike Evans gone, and has the potential for a bounce-back season after last year's injury.

Insight page

Chris Rodriguez

NegativeRole0:05

Chris Rodriguez is another early down grinder that I don't care about in season-long formats, but he could be more valuable in best ball due to his potential for spike weeks.

Insight page

Colston Loveland

PositiveBreakout0:44

Colson Loveland has immense upside and could emerge as a top fantasy tight end, making him a player to target in drafts.

Insight page

Geno Smith

PositiveRole0:34

Geno Smith is seen as a potential late-round quarterback option, but there are concerns about his stability and performance late in the season.

Insight page

Greg Dulcich

PositiveSleeper0:47

Greg Dolcich is a late-round tight end option with potential, especially given his efficient performance last season.

Insight page

J.K. Dobbins

NegativeInjury0:40

JK Dobbins has a concerning injury history and limited upside due to a low target share, making him a fade this year.

Insight page

Jaylen Waddle

PositiveValue0:12

Jalen Waddle is in a good spot this year, making him a valuable target in drafts.

Insight page

Jonah Coleman

PositiveSleeper0:39

Jonah Coleman is a solid prospect and the biggest running back on his team, making him a valuable late-round pick, especially with JK Dobbins' injury history.

Insight page

Jordan Mason

NegativeRole0:05

Jordan Mason is not a player I care about from a season-long perspective due to his lack of predictability and ceiling, but he has spike week appeal in best ball formats.

Insight page

Josh Jacobs

NegativeInjury0:10

Josh Jacobs' ADP has changed due to off-field issues, raising concerns about his availability this season.

Insight page

Keaton Mitchell

PositiveBreakout0:08

Keaton Mitchell's speed makes him a strong fit for the Chargers' offense, and he could complement Amari and Hampton effectively.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout0:38

Keaton Mitchell is a speedster who fits perfectly in Mike McDaniel's offense, potentially leading to multiple spiked weeks, especially if Amari and Hampton were to get injured.

Insight page

Luther Burden

PositiveValue0:12

Luther Burden is a player I think has massive upside this year and is a great value in the round four to five wide receiver range.

Insight page

Malik Willis

NegativeRole0:19

Malik Willis is not a player I'm excited about this year due to the lack of pass catchers around him.

Insight page
NegativeRole0:30

Malik Willis is not expected to have strong pass-catching support, making him a less appealing option in drafts this year.

Insight page

Rome Odunze

PositiveValue0:12

Rome Odunze is a good value in round five, and I believe he has breakout potential this season.

Insight page

Sean Tucker

PositiveSleeper0:41

Sean Tucker is a late-round running back with a solid floor and potential goal line opportunities, especially with health concerns surrounding Bucky Irving.

Insight page

Terrance Ferguson

PositiveSleeper0:48

Terrence Ferguson is an athletic tight end who fits well in Sean McVay's offense and could see significant opportunities this season.

Insight page

Terry McLaurin

PositiveValue0:12

Terry McLaurin is a player I like quite a bit this year, adding to the depth of talent available in the round four to five wide receiver range.

Insight page

Tyler Warren

PositiveValue0:43

Tyler Warren is undervalued in drafts and should be considered in the sixth round due to the lack of alternatives in the Indianapolis passing game.

0:00This is an iHeart Podcast. Guaranteed Human. JJ, kids are wearing baggy clothes.
0:04There's a new 007 video game out and my New York Knicks are in the NBA Finals.
0:09The 90s are back, baby. And we all know the 90s is the goat decade.
0:13Yeah, great movies in the 90s, including The Mighty Ducks, right?
0:16You had D1 that came out, the original Mighty Ducks, which was a good movie.
0:20Solid, right? You had D2, which was the better movie.
0:23Kind of like Becoming a Best Ball Bro, where season one, pretty good season, but then season two happens and, you know,
0:29I had a great finish in the Millie. We had great results in Best Ball last year.
0:34Let's just hope that season three doesn't go like D3.
0:37I'm JJ and over the last couple of years, I've been doing everything I can to be a Best Ball Bro.
0:43And last season, things finally fell into place. I got 40th in the DraftKings Millie Contest, taking home $20,000.
0:48Maybe I became a Best Ball Bro, but I'm still looking to learn more about this game.
0:53And I still want others to come on this ride with me.
0:57So even if you consider me a Best Ball Bro, this could be your year.
1:01This could be the year that you officially become a Best Ball Bro.
1:04This episode is sponsored by DraftKings. We've partnered up with DraftKings again this year for Best Ball, and we've got a can't-miss
1:11offer on their biggest Best Ball contest ever. $20 million in total prizes.
1:14It's draft one, get one. Draft your team once, no weekly lineup management, and your top scorers start automatically each week, all season long.
1:21Download the DraftKings Daily Fantasy app and sign up with promo code LATEROUND.
1:25Enter a lineup in the $20 million Best Ball Contest for $25 and get a bonus ticket for a second entry.
1:31Two shots at the title. Draft one, get one, only on DraftKings.
1:34The crown is yours. Welcome into another episode of Becoming a Best Ball Bro.
1:38I'm J.J. Zacharysen, and joined, as always, by Rich Ryan.
1:41Rich, great to see your face. How's it going, buddy?
1:44Likewise, buddy. Things are amazing. The World Series of Poker started last week, as we said at the top, or as I said at the top.
1:51The Knicks are in the NBA Finals. I literally can't believe it.
1:55And it's best ball season. I could not ask for anything else.
1:58It is funny every time we do, because this is season three, for those of you who have not been following the Becoming a Best Ball Bro journey.
2:06And hopefully you heard from the intro that this is a little bit different, because I don't want to frame this show
2:12as, you know, I don't want to say I've officially become a best ball bro.
2:17I don't think that's happened, per se. I don't think anyone really has officially become a best ball bro, just because you're
2:23always iterating, you're always trying to get better. But it would be kind of disingenuous for me to just say, like, I'm
2:29still going on this adventure of, I've now max entered multiple years now.
2:33And then last year, I had good success over on DraftKings.
2:36You know, advanced, I think, what was it, like 48 out of 150 Millie lineups that I drafted, and was able to
2:42get 40th in the Millie in the final. And so, like, it would just, it seems a little weird if I'm just
2:48kind of framing this show the same way. So instead, let's just keep doing this show, because number one, a lot of
2:55people were asking for it, and a lot of people dig it.
2:58And I dig it, too, because I like learning from some of the best in the business that are doing and drafting, you know, these best ball teams.
3:06But, like, let's see if others that are listening want to, you know, take the next step in drafting a few more
3:12teams and doing a little bit more. Maybe you've entered 50 Millie lineups in the past, and you want to do 100 this year.
3:19Whatever the case may be, you know, I'm just very excited to be behind the mic for this specific show once again.
3:25And best ball itself is ever-changing. The strategies with which people deploy in that season are going to differ from the year before, because the NFL is changing.
3:33And I think that's one of the things we'll get into today, or at least I want to bring up with one of the position groups.
3:41And, I mean, just during this show, the one thing that has been a revolutionary change for me is the approach of fading zeros.
3:48That's been, like, a big thing that I've had to learn, and it's, like, the vegetables that I've had to eat, where,
3:54like, in the past, I'm, like, just hunting spike weeks and max points at all times.
3:58But there's a little bit of, we don't have the ability like we do in season long to make any transactions.
4:04So you better be fading the guys who are going to give you absolutely nothing throughout the season.
4:09Yeah. I mean, like, I think that last year in particular, because, again, year one, I didn't have the best season in the world.
4:16But last year had a great season. And last year, in having a good season, you have a lot more teams in the playoffs that you're tracking.
4:24You know, you have a lot more that you're, you know, cross-referencing as you get into weeks 15, 16, and 17.
4:30And when you're going through in the playoffs, because we always talk about how in best ball, you know, it's like a
4:36quarter of the season is really weeks 1 through 14.
4:39Like, that's a, it's a giant part of the season, but that's serious.
4:43That's just a quarter of the pie, because then you advance or you hope to advance.
4:47And then week 15 happens, you hope to advance 16 and 17.
4:51But with that being said, like, when you have those teams in the playoffs and you're staring them at the face, you
4:57do see firsthand, very clearly, how important it is to not have dead assets on your team.
5:02Now, injuries are going to happen. I get all of that.
5:05But there is a very clear difference in the way that you should be drafting the players in your best ball lineups
5:11versus how you might approach things from a season-long perspective.
5:14It's just a completely different mindset. And, of course, there's going to be plenty of overlap.
5:18A guy that I generally like in fantasy football this year, I'm probably going to like in both formats.
5:24But there are some players, you know, maybe like an early down grinder at running back that is a 12th round pick
5:30that I'm not going to care about at all from a season-long perspective because I don't think the predictability is going to be there.
5:37I don't think the ceiling is super, super massive for that player.
5:40You know, I'm thinking about like the Jordan Masons of the world, the Chris Rodriguez's of the world.
5:45I don't love them in season long, but I will draft them much more frequently in best ball because the spiked week appeal is certainly there.
5:53Now, it's a little bit more difficult on a platform like DraftKings.
5:56We're getting a full point per reception. But regardless, like the season-long, you know, the spike week appeal is still there because
6:03they can fall into the end zone a couple of times or break off a decent chunk run and be able to
6:09score some fantasy points for that week. And you don't have to predict it, right?
6:13And your team stacking and maybe I drafted Trevor Lawrence and I just want to get more Jags.
6:18Or maybe I got Kyler and Justin Jefferson and I want some more Vikings.
6:22And so I do think that like we, you and I both have learned a lot from, you know, I've been interviewing folks, you know, on the show.
6:30We've talked about it. Every episode is going to be formatted the same this year where Rich and I open up the
6:36show to just have a conversation, talk about what's going on and what we're seeing in drafts at the moment.
6:42And then I'll interview some best ball, like true best ball bro in the space, which today we're not doing that.
6:48We're just kind of introing all of this. But next week, I'll kick it off with, I think the same person that
6:54I've kicked off every season of becoming best ball bro with Pat Corain, you know, who's had a lot of success playing best ball.
7:01But, you know, I'll talk to Corain next week and we'll dig into things and such.
7:06And hopefully all of us kind of learn and we are successful.
7:09And most importantly, we just enjoy the heck out of it.
7:12It's a very fun time of year to be, you know, into fantasy football, to be drafting, to have the camaraderie, to, you know, agree and disagree.
7:20I'll be doing live streams again very, very soon on the YouTube channel, you know, where I'll be, I'll be drafting teams.
7:26And I think that alone for me is kind of everything with what this is all about.
7:31You know, it's like the having, having people jumping in consistently on the live streams and having conversations with them.
7:37And, you know, we're talking like retro video games sometimes.
7:39Sometimes we're talking about, you know, whatever the case may be, but we're talking ball along the way.
7:45And, uh, and it's fun. And actually the coolest thing about that was last year, the, the team that, that I found
7:51a lot of success with was live streamed. Like it is, it is literally on YouTube and, uh, you can watch it
7:57if you want, but you can see the logic.
8:00And there were some clicks that I made where I'm like, like I had Derrick Henry in that lineup.
8:05And I think I was at like 6%, 7% Derrick Henry last year.
8:09And I was like, yeah, I guess I'll take Henry.
8:11I need a little bit more exposure. Well, he was the reason why I won $20,000 in that lineup, you know?
8:17And so you can kind of see the thought process behind it all.
8:21And I think that's what's most important, you know, with this, with this whole thing.
8:25Best ball is also great exercise for your fall drafts as well, because you get to use those muscles.
8:31You get to feel the board. You get to see how drafts are coming, right?
8:35Like mock drafts, when we get closer to it, if you get into a mock draft lobby, it's going to be complete chaos, right?
8:42Like people are just going to do random things because there's nothing at stake.
8:46There's no skin in the game for them to take it seriously.
8:49But through best ball, which is a sharper market anyway, like it is a really good way to exercise those muscles and
8:56get an understanding of how drafts are going to flow.
8:58Yeah. I think back, I remember when I first started as like a fantasy analyst, I would, you know, in like 20,
9:05this is back, you know, I started in like 2012, 2011.
9:08This would have been back in like 2014, 2015.
9:10I used to go to ESPN and just drop a mock draft lobby link for people to join me in a mock draft, right?
9:17And I think back to that. I'm like, the landscape has evolved so much.
9:21Like that was like the way that we would practice having drafts that we would like experience.
9:26And then we could share lineups and stuff like that.
9:29And now it's really just best ball. It's best ball because we're, again, we're putting money on the line, skin in the game.
9:35We know that other people are doing the same.
9:38But fortunately, there are still people out there that are drafting that don't necessarily know exactly what's going on.
9:43And that's helpful for us to increase our win rate.
9:46So I like, this is a game where if you put in some research and if you, you know, see what's going
9:52on, like you really understand the landscape and how to build lineups, like you can have an edge.
9:57This is not a throw a dart and let's pray.
10:00You know, there's obviously going to be some of that involved with like late round picks and stuff like that.
10:06But team composition is unbelievably important. You know, some of the things that I go back to that lineup because that is
10:12the lineup that, you know, allowed me to have success, the most success last year, obviously in best ball.
10:18But like there was a play, like I had DJ Moore on that team.
10:22I didn't draft much DJ Moore at all, but it was a game stack situation because I drafted, you know, Christian McCaffrey
10:28earlier in that draft and I wanted to bring back, you know, in that.
10:32And that's the main reason why I had DJ Moore and then DJ Moore was helpful in advancing, et cetera.
10:38Right. I think that understanding that team composition side of things, still there's still a pretty big edge to be had based
10:44on some of the experiences that I've had. Oh yeah.
10:47My welcome back to best ball this summer was having Teddarell McMillan and Jalen Coker and someone taking a naked Bryce Young.
10:53So yeah, we are, we are, we will be tilting as well all summer long, all summer long.
10:58So, but yeah, I mean like the, the landscape on draft Kings, I wanted to get to this on, on today's show
11:04because I think at a high level now I've been drafted.
11:07I think I've drafted like probably 95 to a hundred teams at this point.
11:11Um, not all in the Millie. I think I've done 15 Millie teams.
11:15So I'm still not close to the, to the one 50 there, but I drafted some, uh, some pre NFL draft teams.
11:21And then I've been drafting, you know, ever since, uh, did a lot of slows.
11:26At one point I think I was in like 55 slows at once, which was, you know, I, I, I, I timed it right.
11:32Cause I'm going on a trip this week and I don't want to have to worry about drafts and they're all ending right now, which is great.
11:40So I don't really have to worry about keeping up with the slows, uh, those, those slow drafts.
11:45Cause it can be daunting whenever you're in, you know, more than 50, but, and then there's people out there, shout out
11:51Davis Matic who will be on late round perspectives this week, but Davis Matic, who's in like 300 slows at a time.
11:58Like this is the way that, that his, his brain has been, he's trying to draft more teams than anyone else in the world this year.
12:05That's his goal. But you know, I'm looking at the landscape right now over on DK, I can't help, but, but notice
12:11and think that I think what we're seeing this year is not that dissimilar from last year where, you know, I do
12:18think that there's a little bit more of a running back.
12:21There's a little bit more running back love in general.
12:23Um, but I think you and I both, and especially talking to people last year, we pivoted more off of the zero
12:30or the consistent zero RB builds from two years ago, had a lot more RB RB types type starts or like heavier running back starts.
12:37I think we're looking at the same thing. Maybe some more of those running backs are being pushed up a little bit
12:43further, but it all makes sense intuitively in my opinion, just based on what we know about season long and how that would probably translate to best ball.
12:51And similar to last year, you have that like round four to five pocket at wide receiver where you just have breakout
12:57potential, breakout, potential, breakout potential, like just so many players that I think are massive values, whether you're talking about Luther or
13:04massive their values, but they're, they have massive upside, you know, a Luther burden type, a lad McConkie type.
13:09I really liked both of them a lot this year.
13:12Terry McLaurin. I've talked about liking, you know, a decent bit.
13:15I think Jalen waddles in a good spot. I think Roma duns a is a good value and round five, despite liking both Colson Loveland and Luther burden.
13:23Everyone's like, you got to choose one of them.
13:25And I'm like, well, if you're making multiple line and drafting multiple lineups, get exposure to all of them because we think
13:32very highly of Ben Johnson and what this offense could do.
13:35So I think that that round four to five wide receiver range maybe starts early or, you know, early four or late three around that range.
13:42It was nice whenever Devante Smith was going in the early fourth, that's not happening anymore.
13:47That's a really nice prime spot for these wide receivers, which makes it easier to go running back, running back as like sort of the meta.
13:54Right. And then what I am seeing now last year, I feel like when we were drafting these teams, we were noticing
14:00in real time the quarterbacks being drafted earlier and earlier.
14:03Right. Right. And I'm talking about like the mid to low end QB twos and, and maybe even the low end QB
14:09ones to some degree, but the low end QB ones were generally in that like late single digit round range for most of the year.
14:17It was really, we started seeing like the Bryce Young's like the, the, the random, you know, low end QB two types
14:23in the QB three range being drafted a lot earlier and early and earlier.
14:27And a lot of that was the scarcity issue of them like drying up and then you being afraid, Oh, if the
14:33meta is a three quarterback build now, which it generally, especially in draft games where you get 20 rounds, you know, other
14:39platforms, you don't, when you get those extra rounds, it makes it a lot easier to just have three quarterbacks, uh, you know, on your roster.
14:47That's more outs for stacking. It's more outs for injury.
14:50You know, it's more outs just for that general upside.
14:52And so if more teams are drafting three quarterbacks, that means the position is just drying up faster because there are not 36 starters in the NFL.
15:00There's 32. And we don't even know who some of the starters are right now.
15:04Right. And so, and we probably won't until like mid August for some of these teams.
15:09Like, I don't, I don't know what, like, when do you think we're going to learn who Cleveland starter is going to
15:15be, you know, like realistically, like it could be, it could, it could realistically be mid August when we learn who the actual starter of that team is.
15:23And similar to Arizona, even when we're armed with that information, when will there be a switch?
15:28Right. Right. Like if they go to Sean Watson and the Browns predictably stink, when do they take another look at Shador Sanders, the Cardinals?
15:35When do they pull the ripcord and go Carson back?
15:38Yeah. Yeah. What's, what's the, what's the Michael Penix timeline look like?
15:41You know, truly, you know, so there's, there's, there's plenty of these quarterback situations that are up in the air, which, you
15:47know, you might feel comfortable in May being like, yeah, I'll just get to a, in round 17 or something like that,
15:54or, or Michael Penix in round 18, whatever the case may be.
15:57But there's a real risk of those guys just not doing anything just because we don't know when those guys are gonna be playing.
16:04And so what I've seen happening, and it's kind of a continuation of last year is that's pushing up the CJ Strouds
16:10of the world, the, you know, Cam Ward's, the Bryce Young's.
16:13And I don't mind some of those guys. Like I, I, Cam Ward's one of my highest rostered players right now.
16:19Um, you know, just in general, cause I think the upside is really interesting, but like it's pushing those guys up and
16:26what that does from a value perspective, a quarterback, it makes the round six to round eight quarterback range much more appealing
16:32because the opportunity cost isn't as significant when you are then going to have to spend a lot on those lower tiered
16:38guys where the opportunity costs would be increasing. Right.
16:41And so when, when you get that sort of like truncated range of where quarterbacks are going, it makes the higher end quarterbacks a little bit more.
16:48I'm not necessarily talking about Josh Allen here just cause he kind of goes in his own tier.
16:53It's a different opportunity cost equation in total. But once you get into round five, when Lamar starts going and then, you
17:00know, the, the, the Caleb stat, you know, the bear stack start going and Drake may gets drafted and Jaden Daniels.
17:06And then Jalen hurts in round seven. When all of that starts going on, you say to yourself, huh?
17:11You know, I could get like today I did a Millie draft and I drafted Caleb Williams in round six to stack with Luther burden and Roma dunze.
17:19And then I got Jalen hurts because I stacked him with Devante Smith and the finished team.
17:24I have it on the discord. It didn't look bad at all.
17:27Right. Because it's fine. That's right. I'm, I'm finding myself to go quarterback, quarterback, back to back and being a hundred percent comfortable with it.
17:34Right. Right. And it's, it's wild because, you know, early best ball days, at least, you know, definitely the last two years
17:41we've seen the evolution, but even before that, before we started doing the show, that was just not a common thing to have happen.
17:47Like you would, you wouldn't be double tapping quarterback in that way, but I think it's more applicable right now and easier
17:54to swallow because the other quarterbacks are going like three rounds later that are significantly worse from a projection standpoint.
17:59And once you're in that round six range, there's a pretty clear drop in a lot of the upside cases at wide
18:06receiver, especially, you know, running back, especially once you get past like the, the really sexy year to running backs that were
18:12interested in, but it could go south, but there's still that upside case for them.
18:16You know, once you get into like where Ramond Ray's going and stuff and whatnot, you're like, yeah, I mean, he's fine.
18:22Like I'm drafting him, but it's, it's a lot more appealing to just get the quarterback, a Jalen hurts type where we
18:29know the upside is pretty crazy because we've shown that upside and then not having to worry about that three rounds later
18:35where there's still not horrific running back and wide receiver options.
18:38So that's been something that's very, very real. I think in this year's landscape at quarterback is what it's really continuation from
18:44last year where we're going to have to be reaching.
18:47We're going to feel like we're reaching a quarterback, but I don't think it's really reaching as much as you think, because
18:53as much as you would think, because those other quarterbacks are also going earlier.
18:57It's not like you're reaching for Caleb Williams, but then you can get Bryce young and around 18.
19:02That would be totally different, right? You're getting Bryce young, not that like realistically, given their upside cases and their floor cases,
19:09you're getting him not that much after where some of these really good quarterbacks go.
19:13So I'm, I'm very firmly, you know, in best ball, I always say that like my quarterback exposure is generally just tied
19:19to the pass catchers that I'm getting. Anyway, it's not like I'm, you know, singling out certain guys.
19:24I think that the one exception this year is probably like Malik Willis because there are no pass catchers that you're really
19:31feeling great about, you know, before you would draft Willis other than like maybe Devon H.
19:35And, but yeah, that's kind of the, the overall vibe though at quarterback is that don't be afraid to just get them
19:41when you need to get them or else, like you said, you know, you'll, you'll have that double stack and someone will take them from it.
19:49Quarterback is generally an exercise of stack fulfillment, right?
19:51You've set up these pieces and a lot of times the final piece, or at least like the secondary piece is going
19:57to be slotting in that, that quarterback. And so it makes sense that when people are drafting receivers that they like, they
20:04then want to connect it with that quarterback, which is then in inflating quarterback of inflating quote unquote quarterback a little bit.
20:10And what's challenging is, is if you do are waiting on a quarterback and you don't have pieces in that offense already,
20:16there's a lot, there's, it's very challenging to find a break glass in case of emergency stack.
20:21Once you start nearing like the eighth, ninth round, like there's not like the only, the only one that kind of makes sense.
20:28And I think I'm going to have a disgusting amount because I'm a biased loser is some sort of a Gino Cooper
20:34Sadiq action, because that's kind of a, an easy break glass, grab them all late and stick them together.
20:39But outside of the jets, it's, it's challenging to like pivot in the middle of the draft and build the plane a lot.
20:46You're flying it. Yeah. I mean, like even a team like the Steelers, right.
20:50You could maybe make the argument of like a, like I've done like the Rogers, Pat Fryermuth, sometimes Jeremy Bernard kind of
20:56look more so Pat Fryermuth in that case. But like, yeah, it's still not even like a very appealing situation.
21:02It's not like a very obvious stack that you can go to, you know, late, not that there would be a ton
21:08of like really high upside late round stacks, but you're right.
21:11I think that the jets are, are an interesting case, you know, but you run into the same thing with Gino Smith,
21:17arguably, you know, you, I mean, close your ears rich as a jets fan, but you, you, you, uh, you run into
21:24the same thing with Gino Smith, arguably as you might with Jacoby Brissette.
21:27Like there's a very real possibility that the jets are bad and that they want to just see what they have in other players down the stretch.
21:35Maybe. I mean, there's no other quarterback on the, like it's going to come down to whether you're not a club guy,
21:41you know, you're not, it comes, it's going to come down to whether or not.
21:45So if club Nick, again, this is where we can learn something over the summer, but we won't learn until closer to the end of the summer.
21:53If, if club Nick is the bang on number two, you're right.
21:57There are. That's the, yes, that's, that would be the assumption in this case.
22:01Yes. Yeah. But if like, if he, and it's, it's, it's actually good the way it's set up because I mean, if
22:07he can't beat out Bailey's happy, like, what are we doing here?
22:10You, then you're like, you're never going to have a chance to play.
22:14Right. Um, but yeah, to, to your point, even that it's disgusting.
22:17Like get your quarterbacks guys. That's the only thing that I want to be impressed.
22:22You do have to think about that stability though is, is really the greater point.
22:26Like I, I, I, I don't want to make it seem like I feel like Gino equals Jacoby Brissett.
22:31Cause I think the, the Arizona situation is a lot more fragile than the, than the jet situation.
22:36I'm just saying there's an out here where Gino does not necessarily play like week 16 to set in 17, 18, right?
22:43Like there's, there's like a, a possibility of that happening where you don't have that.
22:47Like, I feel less of that happening with a, uh, cam word type where they're going to just need to give them the full season.
22:54They need to see what they have to be able to make a decision after this year.
22:59And there's obviously more upside with a guy like ward than there would be Gino, but yeah, it's, it's a, it's a
23:05really, really tough thing to find those late stacks, but I would roll that into, it's hard in general to find, like,
23:11this is the last thing I want to talk about, about the landscape right now.
23:16It's really hard to find good late round picks.
23:18Uh, I'm going to talk about some players later on in the show in just a minute, but I might be hyperbolic
23:24in a way here when I say this, but it does feel like the round 17 to 20 players are worse this year than in previous years.
23:32And I think a lot of that probably has to do with the comfort of the rookie class.
23:37It just, it's, it's a class where, I mean, I said it during, during prospecting season.
23:42I said it after the draft, we have a lot of wide receivers that are viable, but they are very mid as the kids say, right?
23:49They're just, there's just not a lot of like standout obvious.
23:52I love this, you know, day two wide receiver type players that I'm going to draft a lot.
23:57There's some, I'm going to talk about one, but there aren't a ton of them that I feel super, super great about.
24:04And then at running back, it was arguably the weakest class that we've seen.
24:08I mean, at least since the, that one, a few years or a couple of years ago, but even when you look
24:14at the landscape over the last like 15 years, those two are, are two of the worst that we've, that we've seen.
24:20If not for Jeremiah, I love this class would be even like, like way, way more putrid.
24:25And we saw that through draft capital. We just didn't see the same amount of running backs, you know, drafted early or drafted in general.
24:32And then you get guys like Kalon black who, you know, like is a, is it gets the draft capital, but has
24:38question marks as a profile and as, as a, from a, from a analytics standpoint and from a profile standpoint.
24:44So my general stance is that it's pretty difficult to rely on some late round picks.
24:48With that being said, I think if there's one position that you can rely on very late right now, my feeling is probably tight end.
24:56I, I, I don't mind some of the high upside late round darts and you can go with four tight end builds
25:02on draft Kings, which makes it nice. Like you can, you can go that route.
25:06If you do indeed, you know, don't invest in the position until like round 15, you can just get four tight ends
25:12and there are, you know, some viable guys up through round 20 that you can, that you can go off.
25:18This is a hundred percent. And this is what I was alluding to at the top.
25:23We've seen the NFL change its focus to the tight end position with a lot more 12 and like in the Rams case running a bunch of 13.
25:30And what I'm feeling in these drafts, these running backs and receivers in the late double digit rounds are, that's just disgusting.
25:37And there are so many outs to you not getting any production from these players.
25:41Like even before we bring in injury, right? Like will these guys see the field?
25:45And if they do see the field, can they even be good enough to be productive in the NFL?
25:51Couple that with the increase of, of tight end usage.
25:53And then even before this season, we see a massive dedication of draft capital throughout the draft from multiple teams to this
26:00position, which lead led me to the same thing after like my first half dozen drafts of I'm going to be very comfortable waiting on tight end.
26:07And then just at the end, just spraying a bunch of picks at tight end because we're getting this combination of guys
26:14that are going to see the field because teams are rolling out 12.
26:17And then there's also pathways through injury or through production for some of these guys to just have really good seasons too.
26:24Like, like the type of draft capital that was just put in Eli Stowers, like, and the, uh, AJ Brown departing, like
26:30there's a path to him being very useful for the Eagles this season.
26:34And you can get him in the 17th round right now.
26:37Right. Right. It's crazy. Cause like, I mean, if you guys listen to my stuff during the pre-draft process, you know that
26:43like Zachariah branch was someone that I was not super, super into because of the way that he was deployed and his production profile really wasn't that great.
26:51He falls into a pretty good spot in Atlanta where I think something can happen.
26:55And I, I basically ended up at market with Zachariah branch at the end of the day, which is why sometimes I
27:01regret having super strong takes pre-draft because I know there's going to be someone out there.
27:06That's like, Oh, you hated this guy. Yeah. I didn't like him as a prospect.
27:10That's for sure. But, but you know, situation and landing spot still matter, but it's crazy that a player like that, that
27:16I objectively think is a very average to below average prospect for where he was drafted is someone that I'm still taking
27:23in best ball and the 19th, 20th round, because that's just how weak that, that whole, you know, I'm drafting like Jalen Tolbert right now.
27:30You know, it's, it's, it's just gross at, at the non tight end positions, but we'll talk about some players late that
27:36I am going after in just a second. The one thing I do want to touch on is how I've approached things so far.
27:43And I'm going to hear sort of, if you have seen things similarly and you're drafting things similar, similarly, I think we're, we're back to it.
27:50Like a three quarterback, five or six running back eight or nine wide receiver three tight end build as sort of the
27:56meta, the baseline, the go-to the thing is I'm getting a lot of five running back teams because I'm investing in running back early.
28:03Like I'm, I'm often going running back, running back, or, you know, it was, I was drafting some Josh Jacobs, you know,
28:10in round three, he was like the most, uh, the easiest in my opinion to get, uh, at that point.
28:15Obviously things have changed a little bit with his ADP and the off the field stuff, but regardless, like I think that
28:21a running back, running back start is intuitive, makes a lot of sense.
28:25And then you can kind of choose your own adventure in round four and five.
28:29Like you could realistically get a third running back as early as round four in that, in that case, whether it's like
28:36a Javante for some stability or David Montgomery or Cam Scadaboo, if you want to risk the injury or, you know, then
28:42you get into that five, six range. There's nothing better than having Travion Henderson or Bayshall Tootin as an RB three on your team.
28:49Like that, that's going to be the case in season long, but that's also the case in best ball where that's like the perfect scenario.
28:56Right now, if you do that, then you have to adjust and say, okay, I won't get Tyler Warren in the six.
29:02I'll pound wide receiver because I don't want to fall behind a wide receiver, all that stuff, right?
29:07Like we will get into that as the summer goes on about how, you know, balancing your team and, you know, investments
29:13early mean less investment late, all that kind of stuff.
29:16But I do think a five running back build is going to be a little bit more common for me this year than it was last year.
29:24Even probably in half and half, five and six, just depending on how I'm investing at the run in the running back position.
29:31But it's more of like a three, five or six, eight or nine, and then three build.
29:35And then, like I said, feeling okay about some of those late round tight ends, which makes going three or four sometimes a little bit easier.
29:43When you brought up four tight ends, my, I kind of had a, I got excited.
29:47That's, that's something I haven't even played around with.
29:50But the thing about going early running back and then going fewer running backs is again, I don't want to be in
29:56round 18 looking at Chris Brooks and James Connor and being like, I need to throw somebody in my running back room.
30:02Like, I don't think that is a wise way to approach this.
30:06Yeah. And I, and I'm still doing it because you, sometimes you're forced to, you know, like sometimes you're like, oh, well,
30:12I didn't address this as much as I should have earlier on.
30:15And so, oh, all of a sudden I've got a draft and take a chance that Josh Jacobs doesn't play or, and that they don't.
30:23Cause like even in these scenarios, right? Like for, for James Connor to hit, for instance, you probably need like ideally need a trade, right?
30:30Like that's, or, or, or like a serious injury or two, but like, that's, that's the way that that pans out for,
30:36for Chris Brooks to really pan out. It's Josh Jacobs gets suspended and they don't sign it or, you know, trade for
30:42somebody, which I think they would in the, in the scenario of Josh Jacobs were to be sidelined.
30:47Cause it's obviously a competitive team and they have one of the worst depth charts behind their starter in the NFL right now.
30:54It's just, there's, there's not much going on there at all.
30:57All these running backs and receivers in the late double digit rounds need a parley to have any type of success.
31:03Whereas the tight ends are going to be on the field and can just fall in the end zone.
31:08You can make the argument that this is something that we will see every year and that it's, but I don't agree totally.
31:15Like, I think this year's worse. Like there have been other seasons where we at least knew some of these wide receivers
31:21were going to be out there in two wide receiver sets, or some of these running backs had like a very clear
31:27backup role, you know, that, that we felt strongly about and that, that we could, that we could go after that player.
31:34I just don't feel that way at all right now.
31:36And maybe, maybe we get some more clarity as the summer goes on.
31:40Maybe, maybe it is just the timing of it.
31:43You know, we're recording this on June 2nd, it's going on on June 3rd.
31:47And so, you know, maybe, maybe that's all going to play some role in making us feel more comfortable.
31:52But right now today, I think that you do need to feel a little more stable.
31:57Like if you can get to round 18, that's what I kind of felt like today with the draft that I had posted on discord.
32:04If you can get to round 18 and be like, this is a complete team.
32:08I can just do whatever I want. And in the last two or three rounds, that's where you need to be.
32:14I think this time of year, I think your point about a trade, I think we just need to be prayer circle.
32:20We need, we need tank Dell to get traded.
32:23We need James Connor to get traded. We need these guys that K'Shawn booty.
32:27Come on. Where's he going? Like we need these guys to go to some exciting teams, by the way.
32:32But those players, I like, I think Stefan digs right now is a great pick because anywhere Stefan digs goes, he's going to see an uptick in ADP.
32:40We see this all the time, right? So draft Stefan digs.
32:43I've been throwing darts at K'Shawn booty because what if like booty goes almost anywhere?
32:47He probably is, is going to be drafted higher than where he's being drafted right now.
32:52More, more than likely. And I think there's some spots like a Washington, for instance, where we're all assuming that that their
32:58other perimeter guys can be like, I, you could maybe even like a digs.
33:02But what if it is K'Shawn booty? I think booty works really well with what they need.
33:07Like that's kind of the perfect type of player to add to their arsenal to just have something which would hurt a
33:13guy I'm going to talk about here in a second.
33:16Maybe we should just kick that off right now.
33:19Just talk about some, some players that I've been, I mean, I feel like this is what we do to start becoming
33:25a basketball bro every year, just to give you guys a little sneak peek as to what my exposure looks like right now.
33:31But since I'm talking about Washington, I'll just talk about Antonio Williams.
33:35Like I have a lot of Antonio Williams. I got a lot of them pre-draft.
33:39He was one of the players in the, when I talked on the late round show about rookies to get in best
33:45ball based on my rankings and what ADP was saying.
33:48And Antonio Williams was the biggest gap at that point pre-draft because I don't think that the market at that time realized
33:54that he was going to get good draft capital, but Antonio Williams himself wasn't a bad prospect.
33:59I don't think he was like phenomenal, but he had a pretty decent age adjusted production profile where he got production immediately in college.
34:06It just didn't give us, he never gave us that like spike season, you know, it never got tremendously better.
34:12Uh, but his top comp in the zap model was lad McConkie.
34:15A lot of that had to do with the fact that McConkie, I don't use yards per route run for various reasons
34:21in the, in the zap model, but McConkie was a good per route run guy.
34:26And Antonio Williams was not that to nearly to that degree.
34:29So take that with a grain of salt, but the, you know, breakout score stuff looked relatively similar.
34:34They have a versatile profile where I value players who get a little bit of rushing work and, and, you know, are deployed in different ways.
34:41And then post draft, they talked about Antonio Williams.
34:44Like a lot of people were like, oh, he's just a slot, but he got good, like decent draft capital day to draft capital.
34:51And Washington talked about using Antonio Williams as their Z.
34:54And so right now today, you know, we're making the assumption they're going to like change something and add something.
34:59We just did that a second ago and talking about Keishon booty, but there's a real chance that Antonio Williams is just
35:05their number two wide receiver this year. And even if he gets competition like Iuke or something goes there, not only is
35:12there like a lot of variance and volatility with a player like Brandon Iuke, because we haven't seen him play in so
35:18long and he's had some off the field stuff, but there's that going on.
35:22We have no idea how good or bad he would be, but even if he's like decent, there's still some room for
35:28Antonio Williams to give us some production in some spiked weeks.
35:31Washington fun too, because you can go naked Jaden in the sixth and then just kind of pump the brakes a little bit if you want.
35:39And then you can just grab Antonio and Chig right there in the mid double-edged rounds.
35:43So that's one of those where you can be a little bit more flexible if you do go naked Jaden who fingers crossed.
35:50I mean, from a watching football perspective, I think we all want him to have a bounce back third season because he's electric as well.
35:57For sure. Next guy I'm going to talk about Lad McConkie.
36:00This isn't surprising anyone who's been listening to the show.
36:03We're going to see non-11 personnel more frequently in LA, even though Greg Roman is a power guy.
36:08We still, if you look at Mike McDaniel's offenses, historically he'll use some two tight end sets and heavier personnel from that
36:14perspective, but he's a big fullback guy. And so you're going to see more and more two and even one wide receiver looks from the Chargers.
36:22And I've referenced the Ryan Heath article that I had tweeted out like a couple of weeks ago when he wrote that,
36:28but there's a really good stat in there about how Lad McConkie ran very few routes with one or two wide receivers on the field, including him.
36:36Whereas Jalen Waddell saw that on like 45 to 50% of his routes run last season.
36:40And so I think that there's a very real chance that we see McConkie, you know, just, just get more directed targets in this offense.
36:47And it's an offense that's going to be getting back their offensive line.
36:51You know, there are two tackles that are, it's huge for what they could do offensively.
36:55I mean, the splits, it's a small sample, but the splits with, with and without alt last year for Justin Herbert, incredibly insane, absolutely crazy.
37:03Right. And so I think that the Chargers, like, yes, it's kind of a bandwagon, anything and like a chalky thing to
37:09say and do, but I don't really think ADP is reflecting it enough.
37:12I have a ton of. Like Herbert's still in the seventh QJs in the eighth.
37:17Like, I feel like we should be Mike McDaniel.
37:19What he did with a flawed quarterback and into a tag of a law and having the most efficient offense in the
37:26sport for, for a season, probably multiple seasons. Like I don't think it's reflected whatsoever in ADP.
37:30Yeah. Like, and I'm not saying that like, like, I understand why lad is going where he's going, but I like him
37:37at the top of that tier versus more in the middle of that tier or like QJ is fine.
37:42I have a ton of Trey Harris right now because I think there's a chance that he just sees some work and
37:48he's, he's one of the few like 18, 18th round guy, wide receivers that I actually think is going to see some
37:55production for us that, that like, I feel good about a floor for him this year, because I think he'll get like
38:01something in what is a good offense. And then I'll just, I'll just move this to Keaton Mitchell because he's another guy in this list.
38:08Now, obviously Mitchell is a, probably a better and best ball guy because he, you know, has the big playability that he has.
38:14I don't know if his receiving upside is immense just in general.
38:18And obviously Amari and Hampton's there. I like Hampton.
38:20I'm not overweight or underweight on Hampton just because I like some of the other running backs that go in that range.
38:27But Keaton Mitchell, I have a ton of Keaton Mitchell because the, the fit with the McDaniel, with McDaniel, who loves speed.
38:33I mean, we saw that with the Brennan Thompson pick and you know, him going out, there was even the video that
38:39the Chargers posted afterwards of Mike McDaniel saying, we need to get Brennan Thompson.
38:43Can I get Brennan Thompson? And they, they went and drafted him.
38:47Keaton Mitchell's a speed guy. And he, to me is a perfect compliment to Amari and Hampton.
38:51I mean, it's a, it's a crazy one, two punch.
38:54Uh, I know Kamani Vidal is still there who, who had a great season last year.
38:59And I've been someone who, who likes Vidal as a, as a player, but Keaton Mitchell and his speed behind a good
39:05offensive line when healthy in a really elite offense, potentially could bring us like multiple, multiple spiked weeks.
39:10And so when I am looking for that, just like fun, random upside running back where obviously if a injury happens to
39:16Amari and Hampton, Keaton Mitchell wouldn't become the bell cow, but he would see a little bit more work.
39:22I'm just attaching the running back to a really good offense.
39:25So I have a ton of Keaton Mitchell right now too.
39:28The other thing about the Chargers is with them playing the chiefs in week 17, nobody wants to touch Rashi rice with a 50 foot pole.
39:35True. Everybody's worried about my homes off the ACL.
39:38Everybody thinks Travis Kelsey is completely washed. So like chiefs chargers is one of the most affordable stacks right now.
39:44And it could be an electric game with two.
39:46Yeah, absolutely. Another later round guy. I've been drafting Jonah Coleman, JK Dobbins, frequently injured.
39:50Jonah Coleman, solid prospect. He's do it all. Uh, RJ Harvey has some question marks.
39:55I think it's a good environment. I'm not going to be surprised if this is a three headed backfield.
40:00I think RJ Harvey has the most upside still in the backfield.
40:04Uh, oddly I've kind of, you know, I've been like very anti RJ Harvey throughout the off season and calling him a
40:10sell and such like back in January. But I actually don't think RJ Harvey is like that horrific of a click right
40:16now, given the drop that we see in running back and just given that range.
40:20Like I said, I like some of the quarterbacks in that range in general, and just kind of like building that way.
40:27But I don't think RJ Harvey is that bad of a pick.
40:30I'm more afraid of JK Dobbins where Dobbins is obviously hurt a lot.
40:34He's more of the early down guy. And Jonah Coleman can play that.
40:37I mean, Jonah Coleman's the biggest running back on that team now.
40:41And I think that he can play that role, be a goal line back as well, potentially, you know, and where is Dobbins upside really coming from?
40:48Is my question. Like he had a 4% target share last year.
40:52Like he, he's not, he's not deployed as a, as a receivers and this is a full PPR platform.
40:57So I've mostly, you know, I was in on Dobbins last year at his cost, but I've, I've faded Dobbins this year, uh, because of all of that.
41:05It's just a very scary profile in my opinion.
41:08So Jonah Coleman as a later round pick, I do like a decent bit.
41:12I'll move on to another running back that I think everyone should be clicking more of.
41:16That's Sean Tucker in the late rounds. Is Bucky Irving has the question marks that he has, you know, no one on
41:22that roster in that backfield is quite like Sean Tucker in terms of being more of a, between the tackles bruiser.
41:28You know, I think that he can be a pass catcher.
41:32He actually did that in college quite well, but he was an all around back.
41:36One of the best Sean Tucker is one of the best zap model running backs for an undrafted guy.
41:41And the reason he went undrafted is because he had that heart condition.
41:45And so he's done well at times throughout his career when he's gotten more work towards the end of last year, he
41:51was their goal line guy, which I think could happen again.
41:54This year with Bucky Irving having question marks health wise and Kenneth gain.
41:58Well, just not being that kind of player. So I think Sean Tucker, again, one of the very, very few running backs
42:04you can get very late that should give you some sort of floor, you know, in that office.
42:09The biggest question mark is that they have Zach Robinson now, and who knows what that offense is truly going to look like.
42:16But, you know, there is still some stability with the coaching staff there, and they might have some input on what they should be doing with Sean Tucker.
42:24Sean Tucker has proof of concept. The running backs around him are all mid-rookies who we're going to be grasping for straws
42:30to see what their productivity is going to be in their offenses, right?
42:34Nick Singleton, Emma Johnson, Mike Washington, K-Tron Allen. What are these guys going to be?
42:38We don't know. So at least with Tucker, we have proof of concept.
42:42But realistically, maybe I shouldn't because this is off the dome, okay?
42:45But realistically, I feel like Sean Tucker's like 60th to 70th percentile outcome is K-Tron Allen's like 90th percentile outcome, right?
42:51Because it's the same kind of use case here where you are looking at an early down bruiser.
42:56And yes, there's an easier depth chart to climb for K-Tron Allen than Sean Tucker.
43:01And maybe it ends up being a better environment, but we do have that proof of concept, like you're saying, you know,
43:07for Tucker in the NFL and already having proven that.
43:10So yeah, it's an interesting discussion to have for sure.
43:12The other thing I want to talk about is another player is Tyler Warren, who I didn't really expect to be in
43:19on this year, but you get to that sixth round range and there's a drop off at basically every position.
43:24And if you're not stacking at quarterback right there, then in there, then it's really easy to get the tight end and,
43:31you know, get a guy who really there's not many alternatives in Indianapolis.
43:34I like Josh Downs a lot too. I don't mind Alec Pierce, which I thought I was going to be out on
43:41Alec Pierce, but his price has been totally reasonable, surprisingly this off season.
43:44But those are the only three guys that we're really worried about from a pass catching standpoint in Indianapolis right now.
43:50Tyler Warren should get a lot of manufactured touches.
43:53You know, his splits with and without Daniel Jones were massive last year.
43:56He was great with Daniel Jones. So I like Tyler Warren in that sixth round range.
44:01Realistically, shouldn't him and Colson Loveland be closer in ADP?
44:04Probably. I, well, I, I have a hard time with Loveland from not, not from the same, like he's one of the hardest players to rank for me.
44:12So I don't, I don't mean a hard time drafting him.
44:15I mean a hard time, like knowing exactly where he should go.
44:18It's difficult because the upside is crazy for Colson Loveland.
44:21Like I, I think Colson Loveland could very easily be like the next big fantasy, you know, like the next Travis Kelsey
44:27type player, you know, the, the, the breaking fantasy football type guy.
44:31And I don't want to miss out on that.
44:33So I'm not going to be below market on Colson Loveland.
44:37I don't think this year, or at least, you know, like, like immensely below the environment's great.
44:41We saw, I mean, his usage down the stretch and in the playoffs was crazy.
44:46Right. And so, but I do agree that Tyler Warren is undervalued and should be closer to that Loveland ADP.
44:51It's just that I think Loveland could even go higher realistically, depending on how you want to build.
44:56The problem is that we've talked about tight ends already and why maybe going elite tight end isn't as easy in this
45:03scenario right now, just because we don't have as much information about the late round guys, about the late round running backs.
45:09Yeah. The difference with Colson, you're competing. Like, are you going to take care Wilson or T-Mac there?
45:14Whereas you're competing, like you said, with a lot less down with, uh, with Tyler Warren.
45:19Yes. Uh, all right. I'll go through a few more and then we, we got to get out of here.
45:24Chris Godwin. Uh, I've been drafting a lot of him coming off that brutal injury last year.
45:29It's expected that he wasn't going to have crazy great numbers, but that the, the Zach Robinson tied to, uh, Godwin's actually
45:35playing the slot and that being a pretty favorable area for Robinson wide receivers and it being kind of a dead area
45:42in the draft at running back and wide receiver.
45:44Uh, I think Godwin's going to be able to give us some love.
45:48I mean, we're seeing understandably. So a book, a book has been rising even more.
45:52He's like the, a Mecca book is like the guy in drafts for whatever reason is the one in round four who was in round four.
45:59Who's risen the most from all of the chaos going on with Rashid rice, Josh Jacobs, the AJ Brown stuff, all that.
46:06For some reason, the Mecca book is the one that's been rising the most from an ADP perspective.
46:11And maybe it's a little bit of the coach speak stuff or, or, or what have you.
46:16And maybe it's a group thing thing, but I don't want to forget about Chris Godwin through all that.
46:21You guys know that I'm a big, a Mecca book a fan, but I don't want to lose sight of the fact
46:27that Godwin is playing without Mike Evans this year.
46:30Like Mike, Mike Evans is gone and Godwin has a very reasonable ADP, even considering he might not blow up.
46:36He might not be incredible. But two years ago, before that devastating injury, he was a top three wide receiver in the NFL.
46:42He was going nuts. He was, he was blowing up himself as a player before the leg did.
46:47And so I'm, I'm really hoping that Godwin has a nice little bounce back.
46:51So I've been drafting him. I got Devante Smith pretty high right now.
46:55I was drafting him a lot before the AJ Brown thing.
46:58I'm shocked that AJ Brown has been moving as much as he has post trade already.
47:03And this is 24 hours basically after that trade was announced, but he, I've seen him go in the, in round two,
47:09you know, like mid round two consistently. Some people have said they draft him over Drake London.
47:14I'm shocked by that. Like, I just didn't, I didn't think that his, like I knew his ADP would move just because that's the way that drafters draft.
47:22I just didn't think it would move that significantly.
47:24I do have him a tier ahead of Devante Smith, but I love Devante Smith as a player.
47:29And I think that he can easily take a step forward without AJ Brown.
47:33His splits without either Godwin or Goddard or AJ Brown historically have been great.
47:37And I'm really a fan of what this new offense, like we can't undersell how bad Kevin Petulo was last year.
47:43Right? Like we just, it's just, it was really, really bad.
47:46So Devante Smith is one, two more. I'll give you two late round tight end darts.
47:51I did mention Pat Fryermuth. I don't have him listed on here.
47:54The two that I've been going to most are Greg Dolcich who market score.
47:58If you guys listen to the market's favorite, Malik's favorite target ever.
48:02Apparently Malik, Malik Willis' favorite receiver right now. Greg Dolcich had a really, really efficient 2025 season.
48:06He was not a bad prospect. At one point, three years ago, I think I was, I was in on him as a late round tight end.
48:14I think the first short I ever made for you was a Greg Dolcich.
48:18Was it? Was it? I believe so. Yeah. That's a big L on my behalf.
48:22But regardless, we're back, baby. We're back on Greg Dolcich when it's a 17th to 20th round pick.
48:28You know, why not? Whenever there's an open room, like we should be looking for open pass catching rooms for our tight ends.
48:34So that's one. And I can't quit Terrence Ferguson.
48:37I think Max Clare is a really good tight end prospect, but the way that Sean McVay has historically slow played his
48:43rookies, what they did with Terrence Ferguson even last year.
48:46And Ferguson was good last year when he, when he got some opportunity.
48:49I think Ferguson makes more sense over Colby Parkinson when, when Parkinson often has the higher, it will go earlier and has the higher ADP.
48:56So I'm going after Ferguson. Cause I think the, the athleticism profile, the athletic profiles there, the athleticism's there.
49:02The production was fine enough last year for rookie tight end.
49:05And they, you know, they're, they're a heavy team.
49:08They will, there's no wide receiver three on that team that we feel concerned about or worried about taking some of these looks.
49:14And I think Ferguson's probably the most natural, like young up and coming athletic tight end pass catcher that they have on that team right now.
49:21So I'm going after Ferguson and just attaching him to one of the best offenses on, I mean, probably the best team
49:28now in football after that miles Garrett trade. But yeah, insane stuff.
49:31It's it's, I love that all four Rams tight ends are being drafted though.
49:35Yeah. I mean, nobody wants to put any faith in either winning him or, or Mumpfield having any impact.
49:41If there's a receiver injury, they're like, they're just going to bring in another tight end.
49:45They're just going to use tight. I mean, look, McVay, I I've said this a lot with the 12 personnel discussion, but
49:51like the genius of what the Rams were able to do last year, not is this is not a just put tight
49:58ends on the field and everything will be fine.
50:00This is a, you're putting versatile tight ends on the field so that they're able to do things pre snap.
50:06And they're able, like they'll run Terrence Ferguson as the X at times, you know, like they'll, they'll do crazy stuff.
50:12And that's why he's valuable. You know, Max Clare is a really good all around tight end.
50:17Who's going to allow them to have that versatility.
50:19And that's what really makes the transition to heavier personnel so effective against defenses these days.
50:24It's not simply like, we're going to just, this is just smash mouth football and we're going to beat you with this.
50:30You know, this is a, no, the teams that are doing it effectively are doing it effectively with very specific personnel.
50:36And I am a believer that Terrence Ferguson is a player who fits that personnel.
50:40If things hit right, it might not hit right.
50:43Like chances are, it won't like there's better odds that he doesn't hit than does.
50:47Right. But I do think that intuitively he is a player that fits this mold of this new wave in the NFL.
50:53Very, very well. He passed the eye test last year.
50:56Every time he was targeted, it was like, man, why can't they get Terrence Ferguson?
51:00Yeah. But anyway, all right, that's it for the, for the guys.
51:04That's it for the show, Rich, uh, for episode one of season three of becoming a basketball bro.
