Aaron Jones

PositiveRole21:51

Aaron Jones is operating as the clear lead back for the Vikings, playing 90% of snaps at halftime and finishing with 23 carries. Matt Harmon views him as a top-15 running back, noting that with limited depth behind him—DJ Dallas as a special teams player and Damond Claiborne as a sub-190-pound rookie—this will be the 'Aaron Jones show' for as long as he can handle the workload.

Insight page

Alec Pierce

NegativeInjury18:19

Pierce left the game with a heel injury on the same heel he had surgery on earlier this season; Harmon is bracing for bad news following further evaluation.

Insight page

Alvin Kamara

NegativeUsage39:33

The Saints are utilizing multiple running backs, which may indicate that Alvin Kamara is not performing as well as expected or that the team simply prefers a committee approach.

Insight page

Braelon Allen

NegativeUsage70:41

Matt Harmon notes that Braylon Allen is receiving critical goal-line and short-yardage work, which limits Breece Hall's touchdown upside, though Allen's overall volume remains low.

Insight page

Breece Hall

PositiveUsage71:11

Matt Harmon argues that Breece Hall looks healthy and explosive, noting he has received 20 touches in back-to-back games. Despite a lack of touchdowns, he remains a high-value asset in a competent offense.

Insight page

Brian Thomas Jr.

NegativeUsage60:26

Matt Harmon expresses frustration with Thomas Jr.'s usage, noting he is primarily running clear-out routes and is barely playing in non-11 personnel sets, with Travis Hunter seeing more snaps in those packages.

Insight page

Caleb Williams

PositiveInjury20:59

Caleb Williams suffered a hamstring injury while scrambling at the end of the game. While he was seen walking without a limp, Hayden Winks notes that his fantasy value is heavily tied to his ability to buy time and scramble; even if he returns quickly, his mobility may be compromised, which is a core component of his playstyle.

Insight page

Chris Olave

PositiveProjection33:59

Chris Olave is performing as a 'stud' and a clear focal point of the Saints' passing attack, recording 10 targets, eight receptions, and 86 yards in the latest game. Matt Harmon considers him a fringe top-20 player and notes that he is one of the few receivers fantasy managers would want to prioritize right now.

Insight page
PositiveProjection39:50

Chris Olave is a stud who is performing at a high level, evidenced by 23 targets through two games and significant yardage left on the field due to drops and penalties; he is a fringe top-20 receiver.

Insight page

Chris Rodriguez

NegativeDepth Chart63:42

Matt Harmon states that Chris Rodriguez is not relevant for fantasy purposes and would require an injury to the starter to see meaningful work, as he is not even receiving goal-line touches.

Insight page

Colston Loveland

NegativeBust24:10

Ray Garvin is in 'full panic mode' regarding Colston Loveland, who has recorded only one reception for three yards through two games. Despite being drafted in the fourth round, Loveland is being used primarily as a blocker rather than a receiver, including a critical play at the end of the game where he was tasked with blocking Dallas Turner instead of running a route.

Insight page

Dalton Schultz

PositiveUsage75:13

Dalton Schultz saw heavy volume in garbage time, recording 10 receptions for 140 yards on 14 targets, benefiting from the Texans' reliance on the middle of the field.

Insight page

Drake London

NegativeValue40:24

Matt Harmon notes a significant performance gap has emerged between Chris Olave and Drake London, despite London being drafted earlier in the second round compared to Olave's third-round ADP.

Insight page

J.K. Dobbins

NegativeInjury53:51

J.K. Dobbins is dealing with a hamstring injury and has struggled with pass protection and overall efficiency, putting his lead-back status in jeopardy.

Insight page

Jaylen Waddle

PositiveProjection52:37

Jalen Waddle rebounded with 10 targets, 8 receptions, and 138 yards; while he shows high upside, his role may be more boom-or-bust than expected due to a high ADOT and reliance on explosive plays.

Insight page

Joe Burrow

PositiveProjection73:56

Matt Harmon praises Joe Burrow's performance, noting he played through a back injury and looked back to his best self, creating plays under pressure and connecting for two touchdowns with Ja'Marr Chase.

Insight page

Jonah Coleman

PositiveSleeper53:40

Jonah Coleman is a priority waiver wire add due to his pass-protection skills and potential to seize the lead-back role in Denver if J.K. Dobbins misses time due to his hamstring injury.

Insight page

Jonathan Taylor

PositiveUsage28:10

Taylor is the engine of the Colts' offense, showing no ceiling in fantasy due to strong run-blocking and consistent involvement as a receiver (4 catches for 40 yards).

Insight page

Josh Downs

PositiveUsage21:48

Downs is a 'stud' and a locked-in every-week WR3 who leads the Colts in routes and targets; he is the primary reliable option in the Colts' passing game.

Insight page

Justin Herbert

NegativeProjection50:12

Matt Harmon is worried about Justin Herbert's feel for the new offense, noting he is forcing throws, missing reads, and struggling with accuracy when under pressure or when the play structure breaks down.

Insight page

Kalif Raymond

PositiveUsage28:02

Matt Harmon notes that Kalief Raymond is a 'pesky' player who will have an impact all year due to his familiarity with the system and ability to find soft spots in zone coverage. While his ADOT is low (1.4 yards), he is consistently being utilized in the short areas, which may be creating an overlap in skill sets with Luther Burden.

Insight page

Keenan Allen

NegativeRole30:30

Allen is struggling to maintain a significant role, with Laquan Treadwell running more routes than him; Harmon notes it is 'not looking great' for Allen.

Insight page

Kenneth Walker III

PositiveUsage10:03

Walker is the primary engine of the Chiefs' offense, recording 24 carries for 117 yards and adding 10 targets, which Harmon notes has fundamentally changed the team's offensive identity.

Insight page

Luther Burden

NegativeUsage23:54

Luther Burden is struggling to secure a consistent role, playing 55% of snaps at halftime in a rotation that includes Kalief Raymond. Matt Harmon suspects Burden is not 100% healthy following a training camp injury, and he has struggled with execution, including a near-interception on a play where he wasn't expecting the ball.

Insight page

Mark Andrews

PositiveUsage35:16

Mark Andrews is viewed as a strong fantasy play, having looked good in the recent game despite leaving some yardage on the field due to penalties. Ray Garvin notes that with the Ravens lacking other reliable options to take pressure off Lamar Jackson, Andrews remains a primary target.

Insight page

MarShawn Lloyd

NegativeBust65:12

Matt Harmon believes Marshawn Lloyd is 'done' after a poor performance and a fumble that led to him being benched for the remainder of the game. He advises against starting him.

Insight page

Nico Collins

NegativeInjury76:25

Matt Harmon notes that the Texans' offense struggles significantly without Nico Collins, and with reports suggesting a potential multi-week absence, the entire Houston offense is difficult to trust.

Insight page

Parker Washington

PositiveRole60:04

Matt Harmon describes the Jacksonville passing game as the 'Parker Washington show,' noting he was awesome and remains the primary target, even suggesting he is approaching fringe top-15 wide receiver status.

Insight page

Patrick Mahomes

PositiveProjection0:28

Mahomes delivered a monster performance with 382 yards and three touchdowns in an overtime win, showing the Chiefs' offense is coming together and capable of pushing the ball downfield.

Insight page

Rashee Rice

PositiveUsage8:22

Rice's target share has dropped to 14% as the Chiefs shift to a more ground-and-pound approach; Harmon suggests he is better utilized as a low-usage, high-yield YAC player rather than a high-volume target.

Insight page

Rashod Bateman

PositiveRole41:58

Rashad Bateman is stepping up into the Zay Flowers role for the Ravens, though the team struggles to find secondary options when the primary target is covered.

Insight page

Tee Higgins

PositiveUsage74:41

Tee Higgins served as the team's leading receiver with 10 targets and 95 yards, showing strong chemistry with Joe Burrow on key third-down conversions.

Insight page

Travis Etienne

NegativeUsage36:00

Matt Harmon and Ray Garvin express significant concern over Travis Etienne's usage, noting he is not being utilized as a workhorse back. Etienne is losing third and fourth-down snaps to CJ Donaldson and is splitting early-down work with Alvin Kamara. Harmon suggests he may already be a 'coping corner' candidate, as the team does not seem to view him as a bell cow.

Insight page

Travis Kelce

PositiveBreakout10:27

Kelce looks more explosive and is turning back the clock, recording more games with 60+ yards after the catch in the first two weeks of 2026 than in the entire 2024 and 2025 seasons combined.

Insight page

Tre Tucker

PositiveBreakout44:35

Trey Tucker is a key playmaker for the Raiders, recording a 40-yard touchdown and a 42-yard gain, proving his value as a deep threat despite an early-game slip.

Insight page

Tyler Warren

NegativeProjection26:43

Warren remains a TE1, but Harmon notes his ceiling has been shaved off and prefers Dalton Kincaid over him at this stage.

0:00Big show for you here today. It is the Week 2 Recap Show.
0:04Man, Week 2 was a doozy. A lot of things we saw in Week 1 proved to be mirages.
0:10Or were they? What is the truth? That's what we try to talk about here on the Week 2 Recap Show.
0:16We get into the solo Sunday Night Football breakdown with me, Chiefs, Colts.
0:20What an exciting football game. Really fun one. Learned a lot about both of those two teams.
0:25The Chiefs continue to impress on offense. Kenneth Walker's the man.
0:28Patrick Mahomes just quietly. You know, goes on and has a monster game on Sunday night as a lot of pieces of that offense are coming together.
0:36Colts, not so much, particularly the Alec Pierce injury.
0:39However, they do have some really good players there who did shine, particularly my guy Josh Downs.
0:44Yes, that's right. Big night for Josh Downs. We are going to talk about that.
0:48Then, Josh Norris, Hayden Winks, Ray Garvin, and I go through the full Week 2 Sunday slate breakdown.
0:54Everything you need to know for every game that happened.
0:57Big takeaways. Future adjustments. Tons to get into all that and more cut up on today's show.
1:02Let's get into it. What's going on, everyone? I'm Matt Harmon.
1:05Welcome to the Yahoo Fantasy Forecast, and it is a hell of a night to talk ball here.
1:10We've got the solo Sunday Night Football recap. Man, what a game.
1:14Chiefs 33, Colts 30 after an overtime performance that ended in a way that I got to believe that 99.99% of human
1:20beings inside Arrowhead Stadium tonight knew exactly how it was going to end when the Colts decided to kick a field goal
1:27to tie the game with just over three minutes left in the proceedings.
1:31Patrick Mahomes marches the Chiefs down the field, ultimately for a Harrison Butker kick to win the game in overtime.
1:37Unfortunately, the 0.01% math is really easy here at midnight on a Sunday.
1:41The only people who didn't believe that were the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts.
1:45So that was a bummer there. Didn't love that decision by Shane Steichen to kind of like they got up to the line, didn't get Collinsworth the same.
1:53They didn't get the defensive look that they wanted.
1:56Had they gotten more of a blitz look at the line of scrimmage, they probably would have taken a shot.
2:02They probably would have gone for it on fourth and eight to win the football game.
2:07I don't really like how they handled anything there at the end after Laquan Treadwell caught one of the most.
2:13I mean, it's a it's a freaking like journey that Laquan Treadwell is getting a significant playing time for the Indianapolis Colts.
2:19We'll come back to all of that, like why Laquan Treadwell is on the field so much for the Colts and the state of their offense right now.
2:27But it's insane that he is number one huge shout out to Laquan Treadwell that like this is a guy that obviously
2:34did not work out for him as a first round player.
2:37Many, many, many, many, many years ago, many lifetimes ago for all of us here.
2:42Me, you, Charlie, Peach wasn't even born yet. OK, I'm talking about my dogs right now.
2:47It's a long time ago. Laquan Treadwell, you know, was a first round pick that did not work out.
2:52He's hung on a league being a special teamer, reserve wide receiver.
2:56Now he's getting real deal reps for the Indianapolis Colts.
2:59Shout out to him for a big catch down the field that almost looked like it was going to be ruled a
3:05fumble, but sanity prevailed and it wasn't. Then the Colts just kind of turtled up after that.
3:10Didn't love the way Shane Steichen handled that particular end of game sequence.
3:14But I do think that the Colts offense actually had a pretty good performance.
3:18All things considered tonight in Arrowhead Stadium. But we'll get back to the Indianapolis Colts because as always, now that I've rambled
3:25here a little bit off the top, we will talk about the team that actually won the football game, which was the Kansas City Chiefs.
3:32And this was one of the most like quiet, ho-hum, 382 yard, three touchdown performances I can remember from Patrick Mahomes in this game.
3:39Obviously, the passing yardage total is juiced here because we went into overtime.
3:43But still, he was ripping that thing down the football field consistently even when the game was in regulation.
3:49Really nice outing from Mahomes here. And, you know, in a lot of ways, it felt it felt a little bit like the Chiefs of old.
3:57You know, if you don't mind me saying with some of these downfield passing attempts here, like Taequann Thornton was huge in this game.
4:04You got to give it up to Taequann Thornton, another guy that, you know, people just have really kind of forgotten about.
4:10You know, me personally, I'd love to see like some different people in the Chiefs wide receiver room.
4:16And yet they ran out at 11 personnel at a decent rate tonight.
4:20And the three receivers, specifically Taequann Thornton, Rasheed Rice had some moments as well.
4:24Those guys made some plays for this team. And, you know, I think that it's just a welcome sight to see a
4:30Chiefs offense that's actually able to push the ball down the field.
4:34Xavier Worthy also caught a touchdown in this one.
4:37Rasheed Rice caught a touchdown in this one. Excuse me, Rasheed Rice.
4:40Yeah, he was involved a little bit in this one as well.
4:44So, you know, at this point, it's okay in the Chiefs wide receiver room.
4:48It could be better. I'd love to see one more guy in the mix here.
4:52I definitely think one more guy would really take this unit to being an offense that I could actually truly, truly believe in.
4:59Because I still think there are some issues here.
5:02And honestly, if we're being like serious, and I don't want to be just always the Rasheed Rice hater, but four catches, 83 yards.
5:09One of those was on the end of regulation scamper there that Rasheed Rice got like a 30 plus yard play there
5:16where, you know, obviously he's not going to score.
5:18There's no chance he's going to score. He has to score because there's no time left on the clock to even end the football game at that point.
5:27So the culture just kind of letting him run down a little bit.
5:30So even a little bit of Fugazi stat line there for Rasheed Rice with the 83 yards.
5:35And, you know, there's just no way around it at this point.
5:39You have to admit that things have changed for Rice in this receiver room.
5:43Here tonight, he is second on the team in routes.
5:46He ends up with those 83 yards, but on six targets.
5:49Targeted on 22% of his routes. That's fine. Okay.
5:52In terms of target share, it's way down from what we're used to 14%.
5:56That's just the way this thing is going to go now for Rasheed Rice at this stage of where the offense is.
6:03It's a more ground and pound unit. Once again, Kenneth Walker is awesome in this game.
6:0824 carries, 117 yards. He also critically got 10 targets, which was second on the team.
6:12You know, Kenneth Walker has indeed been that change force that has changed things for Rasheed Rice here.
6:18I think Rice would be a really solid second receiver, maybe third receiver on this team if they had a real deal ace.
6:25They don't really in the wide receiver room right now.
6:27But I'm bearing the lead a little bit here because the guy who was the ace in the passing game tonight was Travis Kelsey.
6:35Kelsey looked good tonight, guys. And this is the second week in a row that Kelsey has actually been scampering in the open field.
6:42Kelsey has more games with 60 plus yards after the catch in 2026, which is two.
6:47So it's only two we've played. Then he had in the entire 2024 and 2025 seasons combined, according to NextGenStats.
6:52Great note from NFL researcher there. Kelsey's most yak in a game.
6:56We've seen it a lot recently. And I mean, I joked about this on social media.
7:01He got in shape for his wedding. And then he just continued to roll into the regular season.
7:06Pretty smart move by our guy, Travis Kelsey. He looks great.
7:09He really does look better and more explosive just from the eye test in this particular very, very micro sample of the
7:162020-2026 season than we've seen so far in the previous two years.
7:20So Kelsey turning back the clock is pretty huge.
7:22That is also, I think, a damper for Rasheed Rice as well.
7:26So this was a Chiefs offense that definitely did more than we would expect in the passing game.
7:31Some of that, you got to admit, it's the Colts' defense.
7:34They play a ton of man coverage on the perimeter.
7:37They play a ton of man coverage overall. I haven't seen the numbers exactly what they did tonight, but certainly felt like
7:44I saw a lot of one-on-one man coverage situations.
7:47And then, yeah, cool. You're taking Rice and Worthy out of the game on a large chunk of those plays.
7:53You can do that to those guys because those guys aren't consistent one-on-one beaters.
7:57But shout out to the Chiefs offense. They had two guys kind of on the interior there.
8:02You had Tyquan Thornton. You had Travis Kelsey step up and make plays.
8:06Tyquan Thornton in the slot on 25%. He made some big catches.
8:09One of his big corner route catches, big outbreakers, was from a man coverage look where I believe he was lined up on the perimeter.
8:17It was a condensed receiver on the outside. And then, obviously, you have Travis Kelsey scampering over the middle of the field.
8:23So they've got some guys in this moment. But I think the Colts defense is going to give up these games here
8:30to these pass catchers, specifically when you have some ancillary guys that you can kind of throw at them here.
8:36Yeah, I think it's probably going to go for the Colts on defense this year if they continue to throw out all that man coverage.
8:43Again, I haven't seen the numbers of how much man coverage there was, but I did feel like I saw a decent
8:50bit tonight while watching the football game. So the Chiefs offense, definitely a better unit this year than what we've seen in the previous few years.
8:57The biggest, biggest reason is, of course, Kenneth Walker.
9:00He has changed the equation here. And now you've actually got some guys in Kelsey looking better than he has previously.
9:06You know, worthy. Not a perfect player, but he is a guy that has at least healthier this year than he was last year.
9:13Rice is slowly rounding back into form. I think that Rice is probably a better low usage, high yield player than feeding him all those scammy targets.
9:21I think you could tell yourself a story where that actually works out for him.
9:26Use him more of the yards after catch ways in the intermediate area as opposed to just always feeding him in the short area.
9:33And then Taequann Thornton having a little bit of a moment tonight.
9:37Again, I feel like they could use one real deal ace.
9:40I think you could also say that about the team on the other side.
9:44You know, when you guys check out the full recap show with me, Josh, Hayden and Ray, we actually talk about two
9:51year three wide receivers in Marvin Harrison Jr. and Brian Thomas Jr.
9:54who could maybe actually use a change of scenery at this point.
9:58These are actually two teams that maybe should think about picking up that phone call.
10:02You know, I also suggest like Jerry Judy moving on from the Cleveland Browns.
10:06That's obviously going to be a lot less exciting, and I don't even really know if Jerry Judy would necessarily make the
10:13Chiefs better, necessarily make the Colts better. A lot of different reasons why I might not think so.
10:18But, you know, if you can make a big swing for a receiver at the deadline that's not perfectly content with their
10:25situation, I do think that the Chiefs could really benefit from that because right now this looks like a team that's ready to go.
10:32They're 2-0. Mahomes looks awesome. He tore an ACL not that long ago.
10:36You couldn't tell me based on what we've seen here so far this season.
10:40What an absolute freak show. What a joy to watch when he is really firing.
10:44And again, everybody in the building knew that the Chiefs were going to win that game when they started marching down the
10:51field in the end of the overtime period. Okay, let's talk about the Indianapolis Colts here because there's a lot to say about that particular team.
10:59The biggest news coming out of this one is that Alec Pierce is, I don't know, I'm bracing for bad news on Alec Pierce.
11:06As of right now, we know he left the game with a heel injury.
11:10He turns outward on an outbreaking route, maybe a scramble drill.
11:13And, you know, he just immediately, like, he's hopping up and down on one leg.
11:18Can't put any weight on the heel is what they called it.
11:21X-rays were negative after the game. I guess that's good news.
11:25But obviously, there's going to be some more testing here for Alec Pierce.
11:28So, further evaluation coming on Monday. We probably should know that here at some point tomorrow.
11:33Just a bummer. I can't help but feel like Pierce maybe rushed back from this injury.
11:38He looked decent in week one on a couple of catches.
11:41But, man, it seemed like it was never really trending towards him playing in week one.
11:46And then it felt like there was all this pressure from leadership to, like, play in week one.
11:51We'll never know the full story on that one.
11:54But it just feels like Pierce maybe wasn't 100% ready to rock for this football season.
11:59And now I feel like now we've got another injury to talk about here.
12:03It's the same heel that he had surgery on earlier this season according to the Sunday Night Football broadcast.
12:09So, just a shame here for Pierce. And you can just tell this offense is totally different without him in the mix here.
12:15I mean, I joke that they're going to break the record for stick concepts, stick route concepts here in the 2026 season.
12:22Because they don't have a lot of dudes who can really consistently get downfield, does this team.
12:27I mean, here are your top air yard per target numbers for the Indianapolis Colts.
12:316.8 for Josh Downs. Negative .14 for Tyler Warren.
12:34Laquan Treadwell, even with that heater down the field, 3.3.
12:37Keenan Allen 5.8. I mean, Keenan Allen, man. Not great.
12:40And then Alec Ogletree at 10 air yards per target.
12:43All right. There we go. I mean, this Colts team without Alec Pierce cannot push the ball.
12:48Cannot push the ball downfield. I misspoke. Actually, it was Alec Pierce at 10 air yards per target.
12:53Ogletree was 3. My God, Deion Burke's getting a little bit of like some designer touches with this team.
12:59You know, that's where the Colts are at at this point.
13:02They're looking for answers in that wide receiver room.
13:05Not sure they're going to find a ton after Josh Downs.
13:08And I mean, yes, let's take a moment here to celebrate Josh Downs, who is an absolute stud.
13:14I mean, the only thing that's ever held Josh Downs back, the snap count and the health.
13:19Really good player getting separation at all levels tonight.
13:21Obviously, I think they could use him more downfield, but there were some pass protection issues.
13:26The Colts like pin pull stuff on the offensive line is absolutely fantastic.
13:30We all know Quentin Nelson is the man, but like Bernard Raymond was kicking butt in the run game.
13:36Bernard Raymond also kind of got his butt kicked a couple times in pass protection, too.
13:40So I think that's a part of the equation here to discuss with why the Colts couldn't push it downfield.
13:46But like Josh Downs leading this team in routes, playing on basically all the snaps, being a guy who leads the team with nine targets.
13:54Tyler Warren seven. He Tyler Warren of the negative point one four air yards per target.
13:59Oh, man. Yeah. Josh Downs is the guy to have on this roster right now.
14:03Tyler Warren obviously is going to be very good.
14:06I really wish we could see him more in the intermediate area because I think he can do it.
14:11But right now at this point, like the math is not mathing on the Indianapolis Colts here.
14:16According to Sumer Sports, 2.4 seconds average time to pressure.
14:19That is faster than the NFL average. Average time to throw is 2.6 seconds.
14:24That is faster than the NFL average. Average depth of target, 5.3 average depth of target.
14:28That is below the NFL average. So you're letting up pressure faster than you should because, again, in this game, you're going
14:35to get a lot of blitzes from Steve Spagnuolo, things like that.
14:38Credit to Daniel Jones for getting that ball out pretty quickly to Josh Downs, to some of these guys on the in breakers.
14:45I mean, that's Daniel Jones just playing pretty good quarterback.
14:48Managing the game, running the system, the whole deal.
14:51Some of those balls are not perfectly placed either.
14:54There were some moments where you got some open field over the middle, and these guys just can't run after the catch because, again, it's stick.
15:01We're sitting there, even on the quick slants. The ball's a little bit behind.
15:05Got to adjust to it. I'm hoping better days are ahead for this Colts offense.
15:10I just struggle to know what it's going to look like without a real deal vertical threat.
15:15And, again, I'm bracing for bad news with a guy like Alec Pierce.
15:19The bad news is that they play the Texans next week.
15:22And I do think the Texas defense is still a unit that I'm a little bit freaked out about.
15:28That is going to be tough with that math that we laid out there about the time to pressure, average depth, the whole deal.
15:35Then they get the Commanders, the Steelers. They get the Commanders in Tottenham Stadium then in week four.
15:40Steelers, Titans, Vikings, Jags, Cowboys, Dolphins through the first ten weeks of the season.
15:44So mixed bag in terms of the schedule for the Indianapolis Colts.
15:48But I do think at this point, like Josh Downs is in the circle of trust.
15:53He's in every week wide receiver three. He's going to get the volume.
15:57He's a really, really good player, as we know.
15:59Tyler Warren also remains a tight end one. I do think some of the ceiling has shaved off Tyler Warren.
16:05Would you rather have Tyler Warren or Dalton Kincaid right now?
16:09I think I'd rather have Dalton Kincaid at this stage here.
16:12So it's definitely two offenses that are kind of going in different directions in terms of the vibes right now.
16:18Chiefs offense, vibes are really high. Although I do think they could use one more dimension with the Indianapolis Colts.
16:24I think the vibes are a little not ideal.
16:26Just with the whole Alec Pierce thing, I think that's problematic.
16:30And again, it's going to keep this offense feeling really tight, especially against teams where you're going to see a lot of blitz looks.
16:37I mean, the Commanders, they're running a bit of a Brian Flores style of defense.
16:41They play the actual Brian Flores in week seven.
16:44That is going to definitely be an issue for this team where you're going to have to get that football out quick.
16:50And you're going to have to continue to run Jonathan Taylor, who what a great player.
16:5524 carries, 92 yards, two touchdowns. He also adds four catches on four targets for 40 yards.
17:00There's like no ceiling to the Jonathan Taylor stuff in fantasy football right now because the offensive line is playing really well in the run game.
17:08He is just involved enough as a receiver to really boost that floor.
17:12And he's just going to keep scoring touchdowns at an outrageous clip because he's awesome and he's the engine of this particular unit.
17:19So, yeah, overall, great stuff from the Colts to just keep it close, keeping the fight.
17:23I think Daniel Jones played well, but ultimately they do not win the football game.
17:28And as we're showing on the screen here right now, Sauce Gardner has not won a game in the United States in 644 days.
17:35Tough, tough. If you are the Indianapolis Colts right now, that Sauce Gardner trade continues to look a little like, were they
17:42really at the point where they needed to make that one?
17:45I am not so sure. So really interesting just to consider where these two teams are going.
17:50I do think I kind of like the Colts from maybe not a real life perspective, but from a fantasy standpoint, I do kind of continue to maintain.
17:58It's going to be a team to chase because the offensive pieces, even without Al Pierce and my concerns about the lid being put on this team.
18:06I still think this is a pretty good group to like be invested in the mainstays.
18:11And right now the mainstays are Daniel Jones sort of kind of as a quarterback, you know, again, just from a fantasy perspective.
18:18The ceiling's not super, super high there, but Daniel Jones, certainly the quarterback perspective.
18:22Obviously, Jonathan Taylor's the man. And in the passing game, I think it's going to be a pretty heavy dose of Josh Downs and Tyler Warren.
18:30I get why they went out and signed Keenan Allen, but Laquan Treadwell runs more routes than him tonight because, I mean,
18:36he's Alec Pierce's replacement as the X receiver. And Keenan Allen, it's just like you saw some of those routes tonight.
18:43It's not looking great for Keenan Allen at this point.
18:46So it really should just be Josh Downs, Tyler Warren, I guess the sprinkling of Laquan Treadwell unless they make a move.
18:52But the way the defense is playing on the other side and how, yeah, cool, you can blot out the outside receivers,
18:59but linebackers, slot receivers, running backs out of the backfield, that's going to continue to be a thing that haunts this Colts defense.
19:05Unless they make some personnel changes, I'm not so sure that's going to get better.
19:10So two teams that we learned a lot about through the first two weeks of the season.
19:15And unlike the rest of week two, I actually feel like these two teams in particular kind of doubled down on what
19:22we saw from their week one version. So really instructive and I think really entertaining late night Sunday night football game.
19:28But that's going to do it for us here on the solo Sunday night recap.
19:32I appreciate all you guys watching along with us here, getting in the chat, making this fun.
19:37We appreciate all your support. For now, that's going to do it for this one.
19:42We'll see you all next time. All right, that's going to do it for the solo Sunday night recap.
19:47Now on to the rest of the week two full Sunday slate breakdown with me, Josh Norris, Hayden Winks, Ray Garvin.
19:54Let's get into it. Oh, we have a lot to talk about.
19:57Week two is in the books and it felt a whole lot different than week one.
20:02Fewer points. And I would say when there are fewer points, then we really get to know exactly how these coaches want
20:09to utilize the football, who they want to get the football to.
20:12Hayden, what's the number that you said? I mean, just an embarrassment of lack of touchdowns to certain positions today.
20:18Yeah, we went over the first hour without a touchdown to a wide receiver or a tight end.
20:23It was an hour and three minutes before Devontae Smith got there.
20:27There's a lot of running back touchdowns, but a full hour in week two is not a good start.
20:33All right. So that means if you're feeling it in your fantasy football lineups, all of us are feeling it in our fantasy football lineups.
20:40Obviously, the game by game recap show. We got Ray Garvin.
20:43We got Matt Harmon. And we're first going to send it over to Hayden Winks where, yeah, we wouldn't regularly start with
20:50a game that finished 9-3 as the Vikings top the Chicago Bears.
20:53But there's a whole bunch to dive into here, Hayden, in terms of fantasy assets performing or not.
20:59And then maybe most importantly, at the end of the game, Caleb Williams looks like he's about to scramble in for a
21:05touchdown, grabs his hamstring, slides down, gets carted to the locker room as the Bears fail to score a single touchdown after
21:12putting 59 points on the board last week. Let's start with the Vikings because they won this game 9-3.
21:18They did not score a touchdown. The primary two takeaways were, once again, this was a very run-heavy game script for the Vikings.
21:2413 out of their 20 series started with a run.
21:27And who was out there? It was Aaron Jones for nearly almost every single snap.
21:32He left momentarily with a knee injury, but he did return.
21:35It was 90% of the snaps at halftime, finishes with 23 carries in this one.
21:40The Bears did a pretty good job of slowing things down.
21:43In general, and then through the past game, they just did not have to rely on Carson Wentz.
21:48Carson Wentz had a really bad almost interception on the first drive.
21:52Then it had a really hilarious sequence where he was trying to set players in motion before the snap.
21:57The ball goes over his head. There was immediately too many negatives.
22:01And then they just said, we're going to get rid of the Carson Wentz stuff because the defense was so successful.
22:07Justin Jefferson, he had a defensive holding called on Tyreek Stevenson.
22:10That probably would have been a 70-yard touchdown. Aside from that, not a whole lot through the past game.
22:16So maybe, Matt, I'll kick it over to you.
22:19Aaron Jones, 90% of the snaps at halftime, 23 carries in this one.
22:23We're not going to get Jordan Mason for a long time.
22:26I'm not sure if we're going to get Aaron Jones for a long time.
22:30But I'm kind of looking at this as like a top 15 running back.
22:34Is that too crazy? I don't think that's crazy.
22:37I mean, again, this is a weird game too, right?
22:40I mean, you watched more of it, obviously, than I did.
22:43But weather-impacted game for sure all throughout. But at the same time, I think Aaron Jones comes out of this pretty well.
22:50And yeah, he might not be around for long.
22:52But I mean, this is one of those moments where it doesn't feel like I'm tempting fate by saying, what else are they going to do?
23:00Like DJ Dallas is a special teams player. Damond Claiborne is a rookie that is sub 190 pounds.
23:05Like this is going to be the Aaron Jones show for as long as he can handle it.
23:11And I'm certainly going to be more interested in this offense next week when it looks like Kyler Murray will be back.
23:17Hayden, talk us through the opposite end. Because I know that really weather won in this one.
23:22That's why we only got 12 points combined. How much of a factor was that?
23:27And then how different did the Bears offense just generally look versus last weekend's laser show?
23:32Yeah, definitely weather mattered here a lot. Even KOC after the game, he said when he was walking on the field, like
23:38as a coach, like his feet were like completely sinking into the grass there.
23:42So weather definitely impacted this one. The Bears, though, it was not just because of the hamstring injury with Caleb.
23:48They were not moving the ball very successfully at all.
23:51And they're still doing the weird stuff with the rotation.
23:54Like, for example, Luther Burden, 55% of the snaps at halftime.
23:57That was behind Kalief Raymond. By the way, Luther Burden, it's the non-three wide receiver set snaps.
24:03That's been the hangup at one point. That was about 27% of them.
24:06But then even like Colson Loveland, who obviously we've been drafting super high on him.
24:11He had some moments as like a wide zone blocker.
24:14But he's been blocking a whole lot more than receiving.
24:17He comes up empty on this one. Fantasy points.
24:19And unfortunately, on the last play of the game with Tyson Bajan trying to march in for like a rescue game winner,
24:26he's left in not as a receiver. He's left in to block Dallas Turner, who walks him back for the sack to walk this thing off.
24:34Dallas Turner, by the way, he's been an absolute monster for back-to-back games.
24:38Like, there's some free pressures for him, certainly. But he's a way more physical player for them.
24:43Like, that's the type of player that makes this Vikings defense really go.
24:47The Vikings, once again, blitzed 77% of the time.
24:49Ironically, though, it was the plays without the blitz were the problem for the Bears.
24:54Against the blitz, they were actually okay. The problem was like Dallas Turner was kind of chasing down Caleb Williams, who was
25:00not very comfortable for most of this game. Ray, I gotta ask you.
25:04I know you haven't reviewed the tape. But let's say in one of your leagues, you drafted Colston Loveland.
25:10Through two games, one reception for three yards in that round four territory that was so rich with talent.
25:15What's your panic meter right now? Total panic right now on Colston Loveland.
25:19I'm not at Coping Corner, which is like the most extreme of panic meter panics.
25:24But this is not what I signed up for.
25:26It's, I mean, and then just to put the icing and the cherry on top, he gets absolutely destroyed by Dallas Turner
25:33to give up the sack at the end of the game.
25:36One catch, three yards. If you would have, I'm telling y'all right now, I would have bet my mortgage.
25:42If you would have said, Ray, what's the probability that Kalief Raymond would have 13 catches on the season and the combined
25:48trio of Bird and Odunze and Loveland would have 14 on the year, I'd be homeless.
25:53I'd be out on the street right now because I say there's not a chance in hell that would even be possible.
26:00I am on full panic mode. And like Hayden said, the Bears look kind of stank before Caleb Williams went out.
26:06And I get the fact that the weather was bad, but I don't know how you slice this.
26:11Like this is not what you signed up for two weeks in the season.
26:15On Kalief Raymond, his ADOT in this one, 1.4 yards down the football field.
26:20And that was something that the Chicago Bears were not able to do.
26:24And I think a lot of times when you think like Brian Flores bringing all this pressure, just beat him over the top.
26:30Pretty much no team playing Brian Flores even tries to pass the ball over the top.
26:35There was one completion from Caleb Williams beyond eight air yards in this one.
26:39When you have like six guys crowding the line of scrimmage, you don't know who's coming.
26:44Typically what happens is the running backs don't go out in the route.
26:48Sometimes the tight ends don't go out in the route.
26:51And they just kind of pepper like this little slot player.
26:54And that's exactly what Brian Flores wants because those guys were kind of swarming there.
26:59So it wasn't even like the most effective stuff from Caleb or Kalief Raymond.
27:03And then some of the Roma Dunze stuff, that was kind of like out of structure as well.
27:08So like nothing came easy for Caleb Williams and Tyson Bajan at the end of there.
27:13And if they didn't get DeAndre Swift for a couple nice receptions underneath, which was like kind of like throw the ball
27:19out to the flats, a little screenplay kind of catch them slipping a little bit.
27:24That was like the only effective stuff that they had here because even against the ground, like DeAndre Swift, 2.8 yards per carry.
27:31Kyle Manunga had a couple of nice runs, but nothing too crazy here.
27:35And just the Vikings defense was swarming. And then last note real quick, DeAndre Swift at the goal line, Jalen Redman, a
27:41defensive tackle for the Vikings, who's just been a monster.
27:44He keeps popping up on tape every single time I watch him.
27:48He punches the ball out. That was like obviously a huge part of this game.
27:52So yeah, really like nothing going here from the Bears moving the ball down the field.
27:57Matt, just to reset here. I just want to go through the Bears receivers.
28:01DeAndre Swift, leading receiver, 5 receptions, 54 yards. Roma Dunze, 3 for 43 on 4 targets.
28:06Kalief Raymond, as we put up on the screen, 5 for 40.
28:09Luther Burden, 3 for 32. Then all the way down below Sam Rauch is Colston Loveland, 1 for 3.
28:15So Hayden mentioned, you know, some rotation here or there.
28:18And Matt, I don't want to spend an eternity on Kalief Raymond.
28:22But if I was to zoom out and try to picture why a 32-year-old Kalief Raymond with a history with Ben Johnson
28:28is heavily involved in comparison to some other pieces that we highly drafted that are not heavily involved.
28:33Some of it's the defenses that they faced, like with the Panthers, they have great outside corners.
28:39They try to play coverage in the back half and he was just open on the reads underneath in the quick areas, right?
28:45This one, some of the same thing as Hayden mentioned, they'll rush and muddy up the gaps and then they'll play coverage in the back half.
28:53And then you have that open area. I would say, obviously the Bears scored a bunch of points last week, but if
29:00you want to be better in that area, then like get guys who can win after the catch a little bit more.
29:06Obviously with Colson Loveland and Luther Burden there, but Matt, I would love your input here.
29:11Yeah. I mean, Raymond is a really solid player.
29:14You know, he's had his moments in the NFL.
29:16Like you said, he knows this system. He's an inside out option for this team.
29:21Good news, bad news for the Bears. They play on Monday night.
29:24So theoretically next week, theoretically, Caleb Williams can get back for that one.
29:28Maybe if he's got a little extra day, bad news, they play the Philadelphia Eagles, which is not exactly the unit I'd
29:35be wanting to go up against if I got to fix some of these problems.
29:39You know, I also think too, just on specifically on Raymond, I think he's going to be a little bit pesky for this team all year.
29:47And I kind of think that was something we maybe should have talked about in the offseason more.
29:52I know Nate and I briefly talked about it on players that were better in real life than fantasy football, that he
29:59was going to have an impact for this team.
30:01I think it's going to continue to happen. And I do think it really like his skill set, at least how they've
30:08used him so far in the short areas and, you know, kind of finding soft spots and zones.
30:13That is probably going to be a problem for a guy like Luther Burton, who I still want to say is probably
30:20not 100% healthy after being injured throughout training camp.
30:23But I am a little worried. There's a little bit overlapping skill sets between those two guys.
30:28In addition to the fact like Hayden, I thought there was one point like Sam Roush got like a designed target inside the scoring area.
30:35I don't know. It did not end well. Spoiler alert for everybody else out there.
30:40It does feel like maybe the Bears are maybe a little bit too cute, maybe feeling themselves after a great week one.
30:46Yeah, Sam Roush dropped a couple passes in this one just was really brutal spots.
30:51But I agree. Just watching both the Luther Burton games, he's not getting like a bunch of like the manufactured touches that you would necessarily see.
30:58There's also like a really interesting sequence at the end of the game when Bajam was trying to win that game.
31:05Luther Burton gets tackled inbounds. I thought there was a chance that he could have got out of bounds.
31:10They're kind of scrambling around. They throw the ball up to Luther Burton, who wasn't even expecting the ball to come his way.
31:17And that was almost an interception. It's kind of like back to back plays from Luther Burton where like not everything was kind of checking out.
31:25So yeah, I agree. The Khalif Raymond stuff, he's just kind of sitting there underneath.
31:29And that's been like a lot of like the most successful plays like those.
31:33They have been working, unfortunately, for Chicago. Hayden, I know you haven't watched all 22.
31:38How would you use Colson Loveland differently? Yeah, I mean, I would use him.
31:42I mean, I don't even know differently. I would just use him.
31:46Can I just use him? I don't even know what's different about it.
31:49Just use him. Yeah, I'll have to go back and watch this one.
31:53You can't even say it's like the weather, though, because he's not gonna be winning down the football field all that often.
32:00There was a couple of times where he was like isolated out there, but the ball is like not going his way.
32:06I will say I did not like the games on the line and he's blocking the defensive end out instead of being out there out.
32:14Like to me, like that's like, OK, we can at least do better than that.
32:18Final question. We know that Caleb gets carted off in tears, gives a thumbs up.
32:23I mean, as soon as it happened, it looked really bad.
32:26Albeit you saw him grab that hamstring. Hayden, what is the latest?
32:30Like apparently he walked through the locker room with reporters with no limp and no crutches or anything.
32:35So it's not a complete tear off the bone.
32:38I mean, seeing that visual and then with him potentially after imaging maybe tomorrow, maybe not missing that much time would be truly amazing.
32:45Yeah. Hamstring just depends on the severity of it.
32:47It was definitely the hamstring kind of that move where it's like picks up both of his feet when he's getting chased
32:54down and he does evade a lot of sacks and that.
32:57But in the rain, it was just a little bit too much here.
33:01So, yeah, who knows? Like if it's a really serious one, it's it's months.
33:05Most of the time it's weeks. I will say this.
33:08A lot of the best plays from Caleb Williams this year and last year is him buying time, throwing the ball down the field and obviously the scrambling.
33:17Like even if he does come back and let's say like hopefully it's in the next couple of weeks, like is it going to be the same version?
33:25Because that's a lot of the plays in that week one game where we're him buying a lot of time or scrambling himself.
33:32All right. We'll move on. There were two games in week two where the eight and a half point underdogs won outright.
33:38And that includes here the New Orleans Saints on the road in Baltimore beat the Ravens 24 to 17.
33:44And I'm kind of looking at this box score, Ray, and I can't really tell how they did it.
33:50Okay. Now, Tyler Shuck does have two touchdowns in the day, one passing, one rushing 252 yards.
33:55We'll go through all this. Obviously, Chris Olave, fantastic with 10 targets, eight receptions, 86 yards.
33:59But it's not like we got any answers with our backfield weirdness, did we?
34:04We did not. And you will actually, Josh, I may change.
34:07I may change it. I think we did get a little bit of an answer.
34:11And it's not the answer that that anybody wants to hear.
34:15I just don't know if Travis A. Chan is that dude for this offense.
34:19It does not appear to be so. Going into halftime, it was nine rush attempts or nine touches for Alvin Kamara to two to Travis A.
34:26Chan. It does not seem like they want to feature him for whatever reason.
34:31Yet, I'm watching this game, and it was very obvious that the coaching from Kellen Moore, he outcoached the other side of the ball.
34:38Jesse Minter and the Baltimore Ravens. Tyler Shuck outplayed Lamar Jackson.
34:41I know their numbers are close, but it just felt like Baltimore never really could get their foot on New Orleans and to put them away.
34:49Going into halftime, the game was, I believe, 14 to six going into halftime.
34:53And Baltimore only got, what, three more points. They only scored one more touchdown after that.
34:58It was 14 to six at halftime. And then they only managed a few more points after this.
35:03And you look at what Baltimore did. It was Lamar running around for his life.
35:07I've talked about it at great length, that Lamar Jackson does not prioritize the wide receiver two in his offense.
35:13And I'm watching this, and it's a problem. Okay?
35:16Rashad Bateman had a great game, but you know what?
35:19He wasn't the wide receiver two today. He was the wide receiver one.
35:23So he sort of stepped in to the Zay Flowers role.
35:26Downfield stuff. He got a shot early in the game.
35:29A seam route up the middle for a touchdown.
35:32Like, he was the primary target. And Mark Andrews, I asked you about him last week, Josh.
35:37He looked good again. And he left a couple yards on the field due to a couple of penalties.
35:43So Mark Andrews is a strong play. But there is nobody else to take pressure off of Lamar.
35:48And when the running game really couldn't get going today, Derrick Henry had a couple of decent runs.
35:53But by and large, it was three yards here, five yards there, a six-yard game.
35:58But he wasn't able to get loose. And the New Orleans just kept chipping away, chipping away, chipping away.
36:03Devon Vele is a solid role player. Juwan Johnson, a very solid tight end that people don't like.
36:09Chris Olave is a stud. And when you look at this backfield rotation, Alvin Kamara, five catches for seven yards.
36:15I don't know what the average is for that.
36:17What, a yard per catch for Alvin Kamara? A little over that.
36:21But they continue to utilize him throughout the entire game.
36:24Thank goodness Travis Etienne got one of those plays where he had almost scored a touchdown.
36:29They call it back through to a penalty. But I do think there are answers, Josh.
36:33And the answer isn't what we want to hear.
36:36I don't think he is the bell cow running back for this Calamore offense.
36:40Harmon, is this Travis Etienne contract just money laundering, staring us in the face?
36:44I mean, it's more that than like, hey, we're going to use you as a workhorse.
36:49Is it not? I didn't hear a single kind of justification last week from any fantasy content creator that I consume about
36:56why this was going to be okay for Travis Etienne with the rotation that we saw in week one that didn't involve,
37:02but they paid him a lot of money. Are they paying a lot of money?
37:07I mean, that's great. Like the direct deposit is hitting for Travis Etienne, but the fantasy usage is not.
37:12And he comes away, you know, with the touchdown taken back here, which I guess you could say, like if that had
37:19happened, we'd probably save the day for him. But he is someone that I'm worried that when we do the episode tomorrow,
37:25that I might be putting him in the coping corner already.
37:29I mean, what else is going to change about this?
37:32I don't know. On third and fourth downs, CJ Donaldson, 15 of 17 snaps.
37:36So that's the first problem. Someone that we've never heard of is playing almost every single snap, even with Alvin Kamara.
37:42So that leaves Alvin Kamara with playing on the early down snaps, which is what Travis Etienne was supposed to get 90% of this one.
37:50So I think he is going to get the goal line role like we saw that in this one.
37:55But you can't be a 50% player on early downs and get zero of the third and fourth down snaps and be a fourth round player.
38:03So it's pretty much over for Travis Etienne until something changes.
38:06I mean, Ray, maybe it's pointless of me trying to work through this decision making.
38:11But is it potentially that Kellen Moore and company signed Travis Etienne, they got in camp and they kind of just realized
38:17he's not as good as we thought he was?
38:20Or is this all, hey, we want to split the backfield as much as possible and we'll pay him, you know, that
38:26type of running back salary and still only use them a third to a half of the time?
38:32Can I say both things can be true? I mean, everybody on this panel has had multiple conversations with players who have
38:38played in the NFL, listening to what happens behind the scenes on the practice field.
38:43It doesn't take long, right? Once you get into camp, once you start playing, like it doesn't take by week six for
38:49the NFL coach to figure out if this guy's good or this guy's going to be a player or have a bigger role or a smaller role.
38:57Like, you know pretty quickly what you've got in somebody very early on.
39:01And I'm trying to think back to the summer where there are tea leaves that we were just ignoring and missing, that
39:08they were using multiple backs in camp, that he wasn't going to be this workhorse.
39:12Watching the flow of the game, y'all, it wasn't like they got blown out and they take him off the field.
39:18Alvin Kamara was on the field early down situations, third down situations.
39:22He was not on the – it was never, never one point in time did you feel like, oh, this is a Travis Atran drive.
39:29He gets a few touches, then they pull him off the field.
39:33They put in Alvin Kamara. I think both of these things could be true, Josh.
39:37Maybe he's not as good as they thought he was, and maybe they just want to use multiple running backs.
39:43But through two weeks, I'm with you, Harmon. Like, what's the excuse this week?
39:48I don't know. I don't have a good one.
39:50I'll tell you that. Can we talk about the player who's good on this team, Chris Olave?
39:55Yes. How many receivers in fantasy football would we all want to have rather than Chris Olave right now?
40:01I think it's a short list. Good question. I closed with him as a fringe top 20 player in my overall rankings,
40:08and he has been just every time I've watched the tape, seeing the game today, like he's a stud.
40:13He's doing everything right now. There's not – like I remember saying a couple times on the pod, it might have been
40:20with – I mean, probably was with all three here because we all talk so much.
40:24But I was like, what's the difference between Chris Olave and Drake London when Drake London was going in the second round
40:31and Chris Olave is going in the third round?
40:34Quite a bit of a difference now between what's going on with Drake London and what's going on with Chris Olave.
40:4023 targets for Olave through two games. 23 targets and I'd say conservatively another 40, 50 yards left on the field due to some drops or a penalty.
40:48He looks outstanding. Every quadrant of the field, Matt, when you chart him at some point in the season, I mean, it's
40:55just going to be green all over the place because he's running every route, coming down with every catch, and he just
41:01looks like he's having fun with that mushroom on top of his head.
41:05At this point, it's going to take Colson Loveland the whole season to get 23 targets.
41:10Okay. Oh, yeah. On the Ravens, last week I thought that Declan Doyle and Lamar Jackson were awesome together, that they were on the same page.
41:18Ray, did they still look good together? Like, were they chaining runs and passing plays and bootlegs and movement and all that type of stuff?
41:25And was the difference that, hey, Zay Flowers isn't out there and he is by far and away their best pass catcher?
41:32The first scripted, like the first scripted package that they came out with, I was like, okay, this is Baltimore.
41:38They look good. Rashad Bateman is stepping up. He's going to be in the Zay Flowers role.
41:43But once they got through that first 15, 20 plays on the play sheet, they didn't have answers.
41:48They didn't have answers. I know there were some issues and some concerns about Ronnie Stanley playing, and then they've got Carson Benson in there at offensive tackle.
41:56Lamar was under duress all day. Derek Henry really couldn't get going.
42:00And Josh, I really, I truly believe the biggest problem with Baltimore, probably if you go back the past couple of years,
42:06is their inability to find somebody else to throw to when the primary target is occupied or covered up.
42:12Rashad Bateman had a great game. But we need Bateman to be good when Zay Flowers is on the field.
42:18We need when one of them are out, somebody else has to step up.
42:22Maybe that was supposed to be Jacoby Lane. Maybe that gives you some hope for one of those younger guys down the line.
42:29But it's a big problem. When Bateman was covered up, there were no other answers.
42:34It was pray to Mark Andrews, dump the ball to Derek Henry or Lamar Jackson, scramble around.
42:39They have to find another option. Yeah. I'm sure Ravens fans thought that, you know, a 14-point fourth quarter would leave when
42:45Harbaugh left and these wonky, weird losses would go away.
42:48But that certainly was not the case here. All right.
42:51It is time to talk about the most disappointing team in the NFL.
42:55Not just to me, but also to the markets.
42:58That's the LA Chargers as they lose 26-14 at home here against the Las Vegas Raiders.
43:02I'm going to take you to the end of game sequence because I think it's very indicative of where the Chargers are at right now.
43:10So they're down three, five minutes to go with the ball in their hands.
43:14Deep in their own territory, Justin Herbert fumbles on a sack on third and eight.
43:18But the ball falls forward. They recover it. So it turns into a fourth and one.
43:23Clint Kubiak on the opposite sideline calls a timeout.
43:26Out of that timeout, the Raiders then have 12 men on the field.
43:30So they have to run a play. The Chargers get a new sequence of events.
43:34Automatic first down at midfield. On the very next carry, Amar Hampton fumbles it up the gut.
43:39And the game ends with Cody White. Yes. Name seven teams that Cody White has played for in the NFL.
43:45Score is his second touchdown of the game. And his first, by the way, was one of the best catches of the weekend.
43:52Ripped it out of the Chargers' DB's hands. I mean, this game was so sloppy on both ends, but especially when we're talking about the LA Chargers.
44:00There were three false starts for Joe Ault at home.
44:03If you want to call this a home game for the LA Chargers.
44:07A beautiful ball to David Njoku that he bobbled led to Justin Herbert's first interception.
44:11By the way, David Njoku carted off with, I believe, a knee injury.
44:15A cover two hole shot to Quentin Johnson that was dropped along the sideline.
44:19Brennan Thompson drops a 15-yarder because he was playing a lot more than Ladd McConkie in the first half.
44:25And then third and short for the Chargers on one snap.
44:28Order of operations not there. The snap hits Trey Harris in motion.
44:32And the Chargers fall on the fumble. Really, truly.
44:35The best part of this game, other than Cody White, was Hayden's guy, Trey Tucker.
44:39He made good on a slip early in the game that caused an interception.
44:43But man, he made up for it. 40-yard touchdown, deep post in the first half.
44:48Kirk longest throw of the season. Until another post shot to Trey Tucker later on for a 42-yard gain with intense interior pressure on Kirk.
44:55Oh, it's almost a no-look pass. And don't look out now, Hayden, as the Las Vegas Raiders are 2-0.
45:01Yeah, Trey Tucker better be on the staying thumbnail.
45:03That's all I'll say about that. I think what's shocking about the Chargers, and obviously we'll get to their offense, is the
45:10defense is just giving up big chunk plays. And then Derwin James in the first game on one-on-one situations, he was getting beats.
45:17Their best players aren't really showing up. They don't really have any edge rushers right now that are standing out.
45:23And some of those deep passes from Kirk Cousins there, he's got all the time in the world.
45:28That is as big of a problem. The defense is as the offense.
45:32And that's shocking because the defensive coordinator, he left.
45:35But you figure that they would have some semblance of a defense.
45:38I hear you. However, they were fantastic at stopping the run in this game.
45:42Ashton Gentry goes 21 carries for 48 yards. Ashton Gentry was a part of the problem, too.
45:47He had three drops in this game, multiple on third and fourth downs.
45:51There's also a sequence where he got three carries inside the five-yard line, including a wildcat on fourth and one, and never
45:58got into the end zone on that. So there's a huge difference between his week one and his week two.
46:04But Hayden, other than Trey Tucker, Derek Young was the next leading receiver for the Raiders at 27 yards.
46:09Jack Besh at 25 yards. To me, it kind of comes back to the offense is putting the defense in terrible, terrible situations.
46:16Like the Chargers really had one good drive. It was out of half, let off with a 53-yard catch by Trey Harris,
46:23wide open after Justin Herbert climbs the pocket. And they had a red zone touchdown very shortly after that to a Rondé
46:29Gadsden, where there's this weird, awkward action in the backfield that makes Justin Herbert look in the opposite direction.
46:35Max Crosby is left unblocked. Somehow, someway, Justin Herbert freezes him, climbs the pocket, and throws the touchdown.
46:40But other than that, it just looks like the Chargers are not practicing between these games.
46:45And I understand that they are. But Matt, it really has gotten to this point where this Mike and Daniel offense, it wasn't ready in week one.
46:53It's not ready in week two. And I question when it is going to be ready because the Chargers really needed to
47:00win their first two games against the Cardinals and the Raiders.
47:03Because after this, it's the Bills, Seahawks, Broncos, Chiefs, Rams, Texans, Ravens.
47:07Good luck to you. Oh, man. Brutal, brutal schedule coming in here now at this point.
47:11This is one of the biggest shocks of the first two weeks of the season that this team has been.
47:17I could see them being like a slow-ish start team just because it's a new offense.
47:22It's really different. All the motions and all the personnel groupings that they want to put on the field, that's fine.
47:28I also think without Lad McConkie, they're banged. And Lad McConkie was, at least to the route participation numbers, like fake active today.
47:35He was out there, but he was not in a full-time role, which is at least, you know, I think you could pretty much expect that.
47:43I know he had like one great catch that I saw in cut there.
47:47Also looked like he got kind of smoked on that one too.
47:51That's going to be tough for Lad all season long.
47:53But yeah, I don't know. This is one of the biggest shocks to me of the first two weeks of the season
48:00that they have looked this bad and this like disorganized so far to me, Josh.
48:05Yes. Yeah, and it's just way too much window dressing and stuff going on before the snap rate.
48:10Go ahead. No, I'm just going to say this is a fantasy football show, but I truly believe that I am surrounded
48:16by three of the best just straight up ball knowers in the fantasy football game.
48:21So kudos to this crew. I want to give some flowers and appreciation to Clint Kubiak.
48:26Like this Raiders team, we're talking about how big of a shock it is for the Chargers.
48:31I don't recognize this team. Like they look completely different on both sides of the ball.
48:35It's not perfect, but I tweeted it out. If there was a coach of the year two weeks into the NFL season,
48:42Clint Kubiak has got to be at the top of the list.
48:46I mean, they're playing good on both sides of the ball.
48:49And it almost makes you forget that they picked Fernando Mendoza number one overall in the NFL draft because it's like Cousins is serviceable enough.
48:56This takes credit to the culture change in Las Vegas because this team is playing damn good football right now.
49:02To that point, Ray, we just talked about, and we'll get into Ladner-McConkie with the Chargers, but their passing game not looking solid without him.
49:10You could kind of say the same thing about Zay Flowers and the Ravens who we just talked about, a bunch of these other teams.
49:17And yet the Raiders have not had Brock Bowers in the first two games and they are 2-0.
49:22That is just good coaching. When you elevate role players like Trey Tucker is, like Derek Young, like Jack Bash, like Cody White over these last two weeks.
49:31Like that is exactly what good coaching is. Just quickly on Ladd-McConkie, I think he played like three of the first 14
49:37plays for the opening 13 snaps, okay? That included third and five, third and eight, third and 11.
49:43He was all on the sideline. Now that changed in the second half when this team had to have him on the field.
49:49He ended up, I think, running a route on 24 of 34 dropbacks.
49:53And he then did play a bunch of third downs, but it just, it wasn't enough.
49:58And yeah, without him, like again, when a veteran David Njoku drops a pass and QJ drops a pass and all this type of stuff.
50:06And again, as we have seen with Justin Herbert, when things are kind of going poorly and he feels like he has
50:12to play Superman Hayden, he just forces throws that he shouldn't.
50:15He forces mistakes and he doesn't live for the next down.
50:19And that definitely came back to bite him in this game too.
50:22I'm a little bit worried about Justin Herbert in that looking at the numbers, the pass protection, it's not like that he
50:29was under duress, according to PFF, it's like 26% pressure rate.
50:32And when I was watching the first game, there were some times where I thought Justin Herbert was just like either not
50:39pulling the trigger or like a little bit more inaccurate.
50:42Now, obviously you have drops to Quinton Johnson. I saw one with a rookie as well.
50:46The David Njoku interception drop, fumble, whatever we're calling that, was just like hilarious.
50:50But there's been some times where there's like keeping a lot of guys in and there's like two guys out in the
50:57route and there's, you know, seven, eight guys in coverage and Justin Herbert's not seeing it well.
51:02And he just kind of chucking it downfield with like very little success.
51:06Like I'm a little bit worried about just Justin Herbert's feel in this offense early on.
51:11Yeah, none of it looks easy at this moment.
51:13And while we can say the running game, which should be Mike McDaniel's staple, 23 carries, which is a career high for
51:20Martin Hampton, 94 yards and a touchdown. And he and Keaton Mitchell had this one nice drive but it was like chunk gain after chunk gain.
51:28And that's when Hampton got down to the one yard line and scored again.
51:32He fumbled the game away and he is just like a magnet to contact.
51:36The dude wants to like get hit every single time he carries the ball.
51:40He doesn't want to juke anyone out. He doesn't want to run this space.
51:44He just wants to run into three defenders and that shows up a lot.
51:48And that's very different than like the Devon H-hands of the Miami Dolphins and a bunch of the other backs that have had a lot of success here.
51:57So there's not much else to say here. I mean, again, the Chargers need to start 2-0 and they're 0-2 and they
52:03have to learn on the fly fast. I think we, you know, made the point that these new play callers, it's going to take some time.
52:11But I would say that the Chargers are the most behind of any team in the league right now and the markets
52:18keep giving them a lot of credit. And I think that's about to change swiftly here in week three.
52:23All right, Matt, let's talk about it. Broncos, Jaguars, some of our favorite players that we drafted this summer are involved here.
52:30But there was one man, one name that we needed a big rebound from and his, for our pride, name was Jalen Waddell.
52:3710 targets, 8 receptions, 138 yards, which is 106 more than the next closest Bronco whose name is Nate Atkins as the
52:43Broncos win at home 20-13 over the Jaguars. Thank God for, yeah, all the YouTube comments for the at mentions.
52:49Jalen Waddell has a big game and it was pretty apparent pretty early, even before the Broncos offense found themselves that Jalen Waddell was going to be back.
52:57He had 92 of his total yards from the slot, but he wasn't a primary slot player.
53:02He was like 26% from the slot in terms of snaps.
53:06But when he was in there, you know, the targets per route juiced up.
53:10They really want to get him these explosive plays.
53:13They also manufactured some stuff for him, but it was really within the flow of the offense too, just both down the
53:19field and also like in cuts in the intermediate area.
53:22This was the theory of the case of why you get Jalen Waddell here.
53:26And again, this was not a perfect outing by the Denver Broncos offense by any means, but they did settle down in the second half.
53:34I think a good chunk of that, like a good bit of the credit does have to go to Jonah Coleman getting
53:40in there, who is going to be one of the biggest waiver wires of the week.
53:45We'll be like the first people to tell you that.
53:48We won't be the last. Because depending on J.K.
53:51Dobbins injury. By a lot of people. Yeah, he was dropped in 7% of Yahoo leagues.
53:55He's currently rostered in 26% of Yahoo leagues. So yeah, I mean, listen, he's going to be picked back up.
54:01He should be picked back up. I don't think J.K.
54:04Dobbins has looked all that great to start the season.
54:07And now he's dealing with the hamstring injury. Also in pass protection too.
54:11J.K. Dobbins has made a lot of mistakes that continued once again today, which is weird because he's a veteran back and played for this team last year.
54:19And Jonah Coleman is one of the best pass protecting backs in the NFL draft class.
54:24I actually had him on the forecast at one point during the offseason that he talked about before the draft.
54:30You know, just how much pride he took in like pass protection, catching the ball, like being a reliable player.
54:36And you gotta, you know that Sean Payton had to love that Jonah Coleman with about two, less than three minutes left
54:43in this game slides in bounds to keep the clock rolling so that they can just ice this game to ultimately win it.
54:50Because like I said, not a perfect outing by the Denver Broncos offense.
54:53They still have some things they need to work on here.
54:57Bo Nix threw a ghastly interception in the end zone on a slot fade to Cortland Sutton that just like wasn't even close.
55:03But I think Jonah Coleman kind of settling down the run game and Jalen Waddell being exactly what they bargained for and
55:10we all bargained for in fantasy football was the biggest stories of the day.
55:14Matt, can we double click on Jalen Waddell? I see that he got a couple screens but if you remove those screens
55:21his ADOT was 20 yards down the field. Can we explain why and how that happened?
55:26That is one thing like coming out of week one and I wrote this for RP that like was maybe a difference
55:32in what I expected his you know, kind of usage to be.
55:36It's a little bit like all or nothing in that way.
55:39I'm not going to call it like the Marvin Mims role but it is very much you know, where Mims is pretty
55:45much all screens and go routes and corners and posts but there is a decent bit of that for Jalen Waddell here.
55:52So they're definitely going to he might be a little bit more boomer bus than I Bart that I like really wanted
55:59him to be if he's going to reach that absolute upside case.
56:02But I mean, again, the offense was not clicking today and he still had these major, major booms.
56:07So even his first like big play of the day, it's on a post route from the slot where he just gets
56:14loose against zone coverage and he goes down at the one yard line.
56:18They don't punch the ball in by the way because that was when the offense was not in a good spot in short yardage situations.
56:25But yeah, so I do think there might be a little bit more volatility to his role but I think that's something
56:32really worth living through because you see what the upside is here.
56:35Ray, just to rewind here on Jonah Coleman, I think it was three different shows I talked about it this week where
56:42the Broncos in week one against the Chiefs kind of lacked sparks everywhere.
56:46And I'm glad they got Jalen Waddle involved here.
56:48But to me, when you have the compounding R.J.
56:51Harvey being out, J.K. Dobbins at his age and then maybe some frustration about the offense being able to at least move
56:58the chains efficiently, that all kind of set up for a guy in Jonah Coleman that got zero snaps in week one
57:04once he gets his opportunity and once he looks good to then like rip away and bite into some real opportunity.
57:10And it looks like from listening to what Matt is saying, Ray, that he did that.
57:15Yeah, and this is one of the guys coming out of college, right?
57:19Before he was drafted out of Washington, Jonah Coleman was the same physical, no-nonsense, explosive hammer at the University of Arizona.
57:25And when you think about Sean Payton, the running backs that he's had of the past and then Jonah Coleman sort of
57:32archetype and profile, very, very reminiscent of a Mark Ingram, Pierre Thomas type player.
57:36I'm watching J.K. Dobbins the same way y'all are.
57:39He just doesn't even look, he doesn't look good at this point.
57:42The injuries are taking a toll on him. R.J.
57:45Harvey, you kind of know the role that he's in.
57:48This is one where I'm just going to say I would be very aggressive with going after waiver claims or bids for
57:54Jonah Coleman because the fit in Denver and his style, it's like chef's kiss with Sean Payton.
58:00I said this during the game. I think there's a non-zero percent chance like if Jonah Coleman, and again, we don't know
58:06how long the injury is going to be for J.K.
58:09Dobbins here if he even misses one game, but if he got like a couple games here, I would say there's a
58:16non-zero percent chance he just, he keeps the lead back job there going forward.
58:20Yeah. And Harvey's a big part of that too, because we know that Sean Payton loves to dial up the red zone work for R.J.
58:27Harvey. If he's out too, then even more goes to Jonah Coleman.
58:31Matt, I want to go over the Jaguars end.
58:33Trevor Lawrence goes 17 of 29 for 189, zero touchdowns, one interception.
58:37I see Basial Tootin versus Chris Rodriguez being 13 carries, 65 yards, and a wildcat touchdown near the goal line for Basial
58:44Tootin compared to the six carries for Chris Rodriguez and 13 yards.
58:47And then the wide receivers is once again, led by Parker Washington, 12 targets, seven receptions, 98 yards.
58:52So overall, it looks like the Broncos defense bounced back, but some of our favorite players still got there with the Jacks.
58:59Yeah, definitely a much better like, hey, let's respect ourselves outing from the Broncos defense here.
59:04According to next gen stats, Trevor Lawrence was under pressure on 40% of his dropbacks and it really felt like that.
59:10Like if you could pick one knit with this Jaguars offensive just ecosystem here, and I don't even know that this is
59:17really a knit, it might actually be a problem.
59:19Like pass pro is the issue, especially right up the gut.
59:23I mean, Zach Allen was dominant in this game.
59:25He took Emmanuel Pregnon, the rookie guard, for a ride several times here.
59:29Zach Allen's just one of the more like under, maybe underappreciated nationally defenders in the NFL.
59:34He was excellent in this game. Their tackling was better, but still, Basial Tootin was able to get home.
59:39Tootin had the wildcat touchdown. He had a couple of really nice runs in this game.
59:44I don't think he's going to be some massive RB1 hit in fantasy, but he's pretty clearly their best back and somebody
59:51that is going to continue to get there. I think if you're looking for like touchdowns and obviously some bigger plays, I
59:57think they'll continue to give him more and more work.
60:00He was impressive to me in this one. Not overwhelming, but pretty impressive.
60:04And in the passing game, it was kind of what we have expected here where Parker Washington was awesome.
60:10Parker Washington even like maybe left a couple of plays on the field and Trevor Lawrence's interception was like reverting to bad habits.
60:17Trevor were, I don't really know what he was doing with a little bit of pressure and he throws it basically right
60:23to Riley Moss who had him blanketed man coverage there.
60:26BTJ had a couple of nice moments, but it's not going to really be great for you in fantasy because he's still
60:33running a lot of those clear out routes. And there was one play where, I mean, it was unfortunately like he's going
60:39in the air looking for that defender to hit him before the ball gets there and ultimately he ends up dropping it.
60:46So nice moments for BTJ, but it remains the Parker Washington show in Jacksonville as expected.
60:51Are we not at the point where it's Parker Washington fringe top 15 fantasy wide receiver and you can't start the other two guys?
60:58I mean, looking at it, Jacoby Myers, it's 5% targets per route this season and he just never get like, why will
61:04you scheme up the ball to Jacoby Myers? Like I get that he's a big part of the offense in other ways,
61:11but like you don't need to actually throw the ball to him.
61:14And then once again, in the non-11 personnel snaps, Brian Thomas won out of 21.
61:19Travis Hunter had more snaps in the non-three wide receiver sets than Brian Thomas in this one.
61:24So like brutal. I mean, I don't think that is the pecking order like on display.
61:29That's designated X stuff right there. Do you think they can move a trade?
61:33A trade? Like do you think that if they kind of need him though?
61:37Like who else is going to do that? Yeah, they do kind of need him because what about Josh?
61:43Can he do that stuff? Yeah, no, Josh. No, I don't think so.
61:46Josh Cameron is like he's actually going to make I know it's only been two games, but he's going to make a
61:53nice little career for himself as a dirty work guy.
61:56The problem is like they already have a dirty work guy in Jacoby Myers and I don't know that you're not ready to throw.
62:03Yeah, he's basically Jacoby Myers, but like the very, very poor man's version.
62:07But he again had some really nice blocks in this game.
62:10So there's there's that question to raise point. If Brian Thomas Jr.
62:14is barely playing in three or two wide receiver sets and only in three wide receiver sets and they get to a
62:20point where they actually feel comfortable with Travis Hunter playing more in offense.
62:24Couldn't they just play him in that X receiver spot and then move BTJ for like a second round pick if not more.
62:31Would they get a second round pick for him right now?
62:34Probably, probably, but I don't know. I mean, it's just probably a second round pick and it might be worth it if
62:41they were willing to give Travis Hunter that kind of work and like Hunter had some moments at corner today.
62:47He did actually draw a DPI against Corlin Sutton.
62:49That was a very obvious DPI and yet Liam Cohen still went absolutely ballistic to the point that he got a personal
62:56foul and that like they had the two penalties in one moment.
63:00Liam was hot in the second half because that offense just like I said, just completely hit the wall.
63:05Matt, my final question is on Basial Tootin. If we can throw back on that Michael F.
63:10Florio tweet with the usage. This backfield was split three different ways, but Basial Tootin had the vast majority at over 50%, right?
63:17So we still don't have like a pure explosive from Basial Tootin.
63:21His longest rush here went for 16 yards, but Matt, if we're just talking about like stacking good weeks and forced missed
63:27tackles and not falling on your face and earning more and more trust, isn't Basial Tootin doing that to the degree where
63:34we shouldn't really even factor in Chris Rodriguez and this equation at all so far.
63:38Yeah, we talked about this on Fantasy Football Live this morning.
63:42Chris Rodriguez, one of the most dropped players in Fantasy last week.
63:45And yeah, I mean, he's going to totally need an injury to be relevant because he's not even getting goal line work.
63:52So yeah, I mean Tootin, again, it's probably Josh touchdown or bust a little bit with Basial Tootin because of the role.
63:58But this is an offense that, again, it was disappointing in the second half, especially today, but is generally one that I
64:05think is going to score a lot of touchdowns.
64:07So I'm fine. Banking on him as probably more of like a really, really good flex play, but certainly someone I would
64:14not mind being my running back to. All right, Hayden, the overtime game in week two, Green Bay Packers narrowly beat out
64:20Aaron Glenn's New York Jets by getting a field goal in overtime after, you know, the Jets had their opportunity as well.
64:27I'm looking at the stat sheet and we talked all week about the high flying Packers passing game and it's Jordan Love
64:3416 of 29 for 145 yards, two touchdowns, three sacks taken.
64:37Again, the back field goes 18 carries for 63 yards and I'm looking at it and it's just Matthew going four for 58, Christian Watson four for 41.
64:45What the heck happened and do we need to slow our roll a little bit?
64:50The Packers did a full 180 across the board.
64:52They were great on special teams. They were great on defense.
64:56They couldn't run the ball and then the pass game was a little bit hit and miss as well.
65:01I think maybe the most shocking part about this performance is they had 24 series.
65:06The Green Bay did. They started with a rush on 16 of them.
65:10Did it? Did it work? It absolutely didn't work.
65:12Marshawn Lloyd was really bad in this one. They got Caleb Johnson going by the way.
65:17Marshawn Lloyd fumbles the ball sometime in the fourth quarter.
65:20He plays one snap out of the next 22 afterwards.
65:23It was almost all Chris Brooks and then they got Caleb Johnson running the ball.
65:27From my eyes, I think that Caleb Johnson was maybe even a little better than Marshawn Lloyd to the point.
65:33You looked all right. I agree. I think Lloyd's just done.
65:37It's just not going to happen with Marshawn Lloyd.
65:39You cannot start Marshawn Lloyd next week after this performance and Josh Jacob's coming back.
65:44I think just zooming out further, the Packers they lost the right tackle Zach Bacoboelle who was air casted on the first drive.
65:51He's probably going to be out for the season.
65:53They're rotating a bunch of players on the interior.
65:56One of them hurt his hand early on in that game.
65:59The rest of the offensive linemen were terrible in this one.
66:02Part of the reason why they couldn't run the ball effectively is because of the ground game and they didn't run that many plays.
66:10It was 46 plays before the over overtime situation because they just could not like run the ball well and they were trying to run the ball.
66:18They were kind of bleeding clock over there. At least the Packers run defense stopped the breeze hall Braylon Allen one to punch.
66:24They finally get the ball in overtime and win this one.
66:28It was not the cleanest game at all. Tucker Craft played a whole lot more in this one.
66:33I guess like the big storyline here. Jaden Reed early early in the game spine board has a neck injury staying overnight
66:40at the hospital has a feeling in his extremities, but you just never like to see the neck injuries in particular.
66:46So that's probably going to be quite a while.
66:49The floor after the game did not seem very optimistic there.
66:52He was really talking up Lucas Van Ness who was awesome in this one.
66:56He was really talking up his defensive coordinator. He said he has an elite defensive coordinator and they did look pretty good,
67:03but you did not hear a whole lot about the offense because quite frankly, they shouldn't be talking about it.
67:08Okay. Hey, to follow up on that. We just talked about the Jaguars and how, you know, they played the Browns in
67:15week one and you know, it's much different blocking the Broncos than it is the Browns and the front five might be a problem.
67:22Are we at the point where the Packers front five is a problem?
67:26Obviously not just for the running game, but also from the passing department.
67:30Yeah, it's it's getting to that point. I mean, Zach Tom historically has been like their best offensive lineman.
67:36He's going to be out for the year now.
67:38So yeah, it's going to be really tough. Tucker Craft was out there for the for most of the snaps in the
67:45floor after the game said that they almost had to play him at one of the tackle spots because they lost so many offensive line.
67:52It was like that's like the state. That's the state of the Packers right now.
67:57I will say this. It's pretty evident who the ball is going to Christian Watson is getting some like goal line work.
68:03He has another touchdown right at the goal line.
68:06He's obviously the biggest threat for an explosive the way they're getting the ball to Matthew Golden.
68:11It wasn't like the craziest game ever here, but like on a per route basis, like another win for Matthew Golden.
68:17It's the Romeo Dobbs role. It's a lot of like, you know, hitches third and three like quick slant routes.
68:23You had to slant in the red zone. So there's a lot of like little things that are going to Matthew Golden.
68:30He's just like way more likely to rip off, you know, a 50 yard game than Romeo Dobbs.
68:35So I think Matthew Golden remains a start. Christian Watson is going to be an excellent player.
68:40He left for a second with after getting hit over the middle.
68:44But I think watching the Packers like this offensive line is getting to the point where Ray like you cannot start a
68:50running back for the Packers next week. Like there's no way.
68:53I wasn't starting Marshawn Lloyd this week. Chris Brooks is playing too much.
68:57And hey, not just because people are going to ask because people want to chase this backfield.
69:02Like Caleb Johnson, is he even worth? We're not doing that either.
69:06Are we not? We're not. Okay. Let the people, because they're going to ask.
69:10Hey, you know they're going to ask. He had eight years.
69:13They're going to ask. So you got to, you got to let, you got to tell people so they don't break their
69:20pocketbook trying to spend for Caleb Johnson. Everybody wants this backfield to be Josh Jacobson.
69:24The reality is none of them are right. None of those guys are him.
69:29So we probably should stop chasing the mythical production that eight gave people when he was, when he was active.
69:34Yeah. That was just like multiple offensive lines ago when Josh Jacobs was like a fun fantasy asset and that's not coming back.
69:41I would say Caleb Johnson easily is the favorite for most carries next week.
69:46They're not going to go anywhere and it's probably going to be some semblance of a committee.
69:51Zero, zero. And the floor said that he's still learning the past protection rules and all that type of stuff after the game.
69:57So it's like, it's a nothing there. It's Tucker craft.
70:00Like he's at least playing enough now, but he's not as featured.
70:04It's Matthew golden. It's Christian Watson. That's it for green Bay.
70:07But those, both of those picks are going to be very good ones this year.
70:12Okay. Hey, and I need to ask about the jets here because Gino goes 27 of 41 to 47.
70:17One touchdown does take four sacks and some long sacks at that, but Brees Hall, 16 carries for only 29 yards, including a long gain of 14.
70:25So if I want to do the math, that's 15 carries for 15 yards besides that.
70:30But he's also this team's leading receiver with five targets, five receptions, 63 yards.
70:34But the frustration is there's no touchdown in his column, but there is for Braylon Allen on five carries for seven yards.
70:41It was a five yard touchdown as a first in goal in the second quarter for Braylon Allen.
70:46So, you know, that's like fringe goal line work for him.
70:49And then later in the game fourth and one, everything on the line for the jets.
70:54They run it out of shotgun with Braylon Allen.
70:57That gets stuck. Lucas Van Ness flies around and makes a big play there.
71:01So I guess like on those two critical moments, it was Braylon Allen.
71:05The good news is everything else went to Brees Hall and the boxer is not going to agree with me.
71:11I think Brees Hall looks really good and really healthy.
71:14There's been like too many seasons in a row where I felt like, man, like he's just like not making guys miss.
71:20And if you guys watch his 43 yard screen game, he had a jump cut there that like, I mean, he's got
71:27to be 233 pounds or something like that. He's a big dude.
71:30He should not be jumping laterally like that. So I think that Brees Hall is going to have good moments here, even
71:37though he's like losing some of the critical work.
71:40The reality is he had 16 carries and then five targets in this one last week when he was splitting time, he touched the ball 20 times.
71:48So that's back to back games in a row where they touch the ball 20 times and the Jets offense.
71:54It wasn't a great offense, but this is like definitely a tier above what we're dealing with the last couple of years with a way worse quarterback play.
72:02Hayden, can I ask you about 80 Mitchell's 12 targets?
72:05I'm sure that was a journey was a rollercoaster.
72:08What was the journey like for you? It was a journey.
72:11It's very clear that he's heavily involved. It wasn't that like everything was down the football field either, which is I mean,
72:17obviously there's gonna be a lot of it like that, but there was a couple plays underneath like right away in this one Garrett Wilson.
72:25It was at least getting close to halftime before his first reception, but they still it's the same type of offense.
72:31It's a lot of 11 personnel. I think it's about 70% of them there.
72:35They're replacement in a slot for Omar Cooper, Isaiah Williams.
72:38He had a couple plays late in the game and he's got a little bit of bully ball to him underneath there,
72:45but I don't know Mitchell very involved in this one and it's not gonna be nearly as like balanced of an attack.
72:51Obviously you have those two running backs like to some degree it is, but that was a lot of dropbacks in this
72:58one and I thought Gina Smith like played fine enough ball and I saw the Green Bay like their defense like really stepped up in general.
73:06I want to buy stock of the Jets for because I look they they look competent right now or if not good
73:12in some moments and then this is their schedule coming up.
73:15Okay, Lions Bears Browns then the Patriots and then the Dolphins after that.
73:19I mean four of those next five games are some of the worst defenses that we've seen in NFL so far.
73:26So I kind of like these Jets assets and like you said Hayden outside of one or two brilliant Allen touches here or there.
73:33It is very centralized of the pieces that we should care about and compared to all the other teams that we've got to have won this game.
73:41They should have won this game. They should have won this game.
73:44Yep. All right. Let's talk about the Bengals and the Texans.
73:48Oh and two for the Texans to know for the Bengals as Cincinnati wins 20 to six.
73:53It won't show up in EPA. Minus 0.5 for the day.
73:56But I thought Joe Burrow had a hell of a performance came in with a back injury.
74:01His left tackle in Orlando Brown was struggling all day long.
74:04I mean Will Anderson Danell Hunter from both sides sacks quarterback hits everything but Joe Burrow powered through it and created when
74:11he needed to whether that was T Higgins on a bunch of end breakers or really two magical touchdowns to Jamar Chase.
74:17The first one the catch of the day a twisting one-on-one rep versus Derek Stingley at the front right pylon for 32 yards.
74:24We got the dots. Look at that. I mean it looks like he's going to slip but he controls gets both feet
74:31down and then after halftime Joe Burrow avoids upfield disruption breaks the arm tackle sack in the backfield gets out into free
74:37space and chase gets free on a crossing route for a 19 yard touchdown.
74:41Again T got in on the action. In fact he's the team's leading receiver 10 targets five receptions 95 yards a third
74:48and five incredible rep also against Derek Stingley on the sideline.
74:51So again with Burrow nursing that back injury coming in he got hit he got tested and he looked back to some
74:58of his best self and on the opposite end everything was so difficult here for the Houston Texans.
75:03CJ Stroud might have had like one good play one good throw every single drive.
75:08They did their best to work the middle of the fields with wide receivers and especially tight ends.
75:13That's why you see Dalton Schultz especially at the end some garbage time stuff with top 12 receptions 140 yards on 14
75:19freaking targets but the run game was non existent.
75:22I mean these guys combined for 14 carries for 18 total yards.
75:26Dexter Lawrence was dominant including a fourth and inches stop on David Montgomery one on one.
75:30I think they might have run the ball with their running backs a total of four times in the entire second half.
75:37So what worked for them last week I'll be at just in touchdowns and not necessarily on a yards per carry basis here Harmon.
75:44We're back to the drawing board here with the Texans offensive line and their rushing attack.
75:49Yeah big step back because at least in week one you know they were definitely not explosive.
75:54I don't think either of these guys marks or Montgomery is going to be explosive but it kind of feels like they're
76:00at least just watching it in week one and I felt like seeing some of it today is just like when they
76:07can really get these guys going downhill there's a there's maybe some semblance of a run game but when they're trying to
76:14do a lot of like zone stuff past things it doesn't it doesn't really work.
76:18Yeah it's it's a mess for this team. So I also think too like this is just one of those teams that
76:25when you don't have your wide receiver one and Nico Collins you're you're effed and I feel like this team is if
76:31he has to miss next week to against the Colts a team he usually tears up I think they're probably going to be effed again.
76:39Yeah. Hey and correct me if I'm wrong but it sounded like this morning they reported as like a possible multi-week thing
76:45here with Nico Collins is that correct? God. Yeah.
76:48Yeah. I mean it's probably gonna be another week or so it didn't say they didn't put him on IR so I'll
76:54be back soon enough but I agree with you guys I mean it doesn't matter if he's not out there I mean
77:01this offensive line I always felt like every single offseason they're like they change the offensive line it'll get better it was
77:07like but they're not adding anybody good on the offensive lines like why should we expect different results I mean that that's
77:14a problem they had one successful run in this one the bottom zero percentile in games here negative 0.8 EPA per run
77:20for the Texans here six of them went backwards according to our friend Nate Tice over there I mean that's that's like
77:27predictable to like that's I think the sad part about this and last week David Montgomery got home but like on two
77:34plays and then the other 16 plays went nowhere and if you're looking at like success rate right now like the Texans
77:40run game is one of the worst in the league.
77:43Yeah the Bengals today the according to next year's stats the highest pressure rate since Al Golden has taken over is DC
77:5043 and a half percent pressure rate all the investments on the defensive side of the ball eight sacks four force fumbles
77:56and one touchdown this season I did that the defense is giving them a chance in this this Houston Texas team Owen
78:03to right now it doesn't look like Nico is going to play we talked about it last week with Monty at the
78:0920 carries but if you watched it it didn't look particularly great like this is a problem for Houston without Nico Collins
78:16and again these teams that don't have answers for the primary being out and there are no secondary options that truly threaten
78:22the defense it just makes tough sledding for us in fantasy trying to chase these other things I'm like we're at a
78:29point y'all where we just need to say like there are certain teams where you want one guy or we don't even
78:35want to mess around with anybody in Houston it's like you know I don't want to tell people to feel like you
78:42have to just jam Montgomery and depending on who they play if Nico's not out there this was bad they look bad
78:49yep something I do want to watch for the Bengals they are much better along the defensive line again Dexter Lawrence was
78:55both eating and splitting double teams and just living in the backfield and they are quite deep along edge rusher despite you
79:02know losing Trey Hendrickson they have like a bunch of names including Shamar Stewart who got a sack here and you know
79:08CJ Stroud took four sacks in this game but their linebacker area that middle of the field is maybe something that's a
79:15bit susceptible to to where they they can get got so that's something I want to keep in mind with some talents
79:21against them moving forward yeah I mean look Kayshawn Booty three for 37 Xavier Hutchinson three for 37 I mean Foster Moreau
79:28pops up for a 25 yarder Jared Wayne pops up for an 18 yarder they just honestly the best running back moment
79:34that they had was a third and 12 that Woody Marks took and then barreled through some defenders and got the first
79:41down so it's it's rough and then again on the Bengals I'll just close with some of the under center work really
79:47helped chase Brown in terms of the rushing like sure 20 for 80 in a normal game might not be great I'll
79:54take 20 for 80 every single day of the week against Houston Texans defense along with three extra catches so I thought
80:00chase Brown was very dependable on this and got almost all of the work and this Bengals offensive line was tested they
80:07had their moments in terms of sacks and quarterback hits at the same time they did just enough to like give protection
80:14and for the Bengals to win this one in the end okay we'll move it on I mean we might look back
80:20on this as the biggest upset of the season Cleveland Browns freaking won a game and it wasn't until week 12 it
80:27was in week 2 23 to 19 after like a six-hour weather delay here Harmon oh my god I'm looking at the
80:33box score Deshaun Watson 24 of 30 to 38 to touchdowns compare that to Baker Mayfield 21 of 34 182 one touchdown
80:40one interception looks like Deshaun was the much better quarterback here yeah this is Deshaun Watson's best game in a Cleveland Browns
80:46uniform by EPA per drop back which is outrageous so it's the eighth best game he's had since the 2020 season these
80:53are all the dates that are ahead of today's 0.2 EPA per drop back November 26 2020 October 18th 2020 November 22nd
80:592020 October 11th 2020 December 27th 2020 the 1st of January in 2021 a playoff game and then the 8th of November
81:06in 2020 so it's like Deshaun Watson's best game since the pandemic season and that is just embarrassing it's humiliating how bad
81:12the Bucks defense is right now that was one of my biggest takeaways from this game and frankly was one of my
81:19biggest takeaways from the first week their linebackers are brutal in coverage Alex Anzalone has been one of the worst I'm sorry
81:26this is really mean but he's been one of the worst players in football through the first two weeks he's been a
81:32disaster free agent signing can't tackle there's no underneath coverage like this was a moment where Deshaun didn't even really have to
81:39force it and could just kind of take what the defense gave him because the defense was giving him everything and this
81:45is like a consistent if I was a Bucks fan I'd be irate right now because this is a consistent theme with
81:52Todd Bowles's defense as the replies to that Deshaun Watson tweet reminded me and I was like folks I don't need a
81:58reminder that every every bad quarterback looks great against this defense because it's just like if you can find especially if you're
82:05a veteran if you can find the open spots where the blitz are coming it's going to be there and you can
82:11just kind of again matriculate the football down the field as Deshaun Watson did in this game I mean it's like this
82:18is a guy they wanted to bench there were reports this morning about how like they basically were all ready to bench
82:24him after this game and start Shador Sanders in week three in the home opener and he won the football game and
82:31had his best game in years like the Bucks defense and the offense isn't great we'll talk about but the Bucks defense
82:37is really bad if you want like a fantasy relevant take Denzel Boston was awesome in this game I can't believe this
82:44guy was a second round pick he ran the most routes among all the receivers you know Casey Concepcion and Jerry Judy
82:51are a little bit like redundant in some of the targets that they get which is a little bit of a problem
82:57for Casey because he does get a lot of designery stuff but yeah Boston could have even had a bigger game too
83:04because he had like a tight coverage go route that he lost at the very very last second along the left sideline
83:10so 94% team high in the routes rate made made a bunch of guys miss on his post route touchdown where he
83:17just took off so Boston's been really good a standout player for this team which was a consistent drumbeat in training camp
83:23in OTAs and has definitely led into the season he is a hit for them I like the fact that they got
83:30hero fanning involved Matt and I know that he didn't get a lot until late in the game last week but the
83:36fact that he was involved in the offense today was good and again not trying to be mean here but leaving Jerry
83:43Judy out of the mix they need to just roll with Boston and fanning and Casey Concepcion it didn't look like they
83:49fooled around with Jerry Judy a lot can you just talk about fanning juniors involvement and then when I'm just looking at
83:56the box score right 19 yard average for it for Denzel Boston I know the big play was a big part of
84:03that but 10.8 yards per catch for Harold fanning to the 4.7 for conception on I would like for them to give
84:09him some more real route stuff inside this offense but talk about fanning at that tight end spot six targets for him
84:16as well yeah they kind of need to just get like Judy off the team I think because he's still running like
84:2269% of the routes and if he's not getting targeted yeah they should and you know I don't know it's like a
84:29wide receiver needy team he's just such a mercurial player as Jerry Judy I it's tough to find a home for him
84:35but yeah fanning was good in this game he had one third down drop in the first quarter but that was the
84:42only target that went his way that he didn't catch so he was definitely useful again he's he's like tight ends are
84:48gonna are gonna smoke this team all season the Tampa Buccaneers because they can't cover with their linebackers right now I'm getting
84:55a little bit nervous with the Browns and that Boston's pretty good fanning's pretty good Concepcion's pretty good Quinch on Judkins is
85:01pretty good like almost to the point where you might start them and then here comes the rug pull in the next
85:08time so that's yes that's like that's like that was in the back of my mind I did want to say on
85:14Jerry Judy the Browns would save almost four million dollars if they can trade them and like they should just figure that
85:21out like that's a tradable contract who do you think wants him that's that's the problem who wants him I mean I
85:28don't know that yeah I mean there will be teams that use someone like yeah yeah there's always a team that could
85:34that could frankly I hate I hate to say this because it'd be nice if they could just have like a real
85:41professional wide receiver but he would actually make sense for the Chiefs because they have no one who can beat man coverage
85:47and like Jerry Jerry Judy can run TikTok TikTok routes and beat man coverage so Mahomes like sitting there buying some time
85:54for Judy's like six second routes to get open that actually might make a little bit of sense Matt I have to
86:00ask about the Buccaneers okay they gave Baker Mayfield the contract in the 11th hour prior to the season if you go
86:07back to last year the Bucs have now lost nine of their last 11 games Todd Bowles has seen Dave Canales go
86:13on to be his OC and then a head coach Liam Cohen his OC to go be a head coach Grizzard fired
86:20after one year I saw Buccaneers fans already calling for Zach Robinson's head as offensive coordinator here Bucky Irving great with 17
86:26carries for 89 yards that's 5.2 yards per pop then I look at the pass catching Emeka Buga sweet a touchdown but
86:33on five targets three reception 16 yards Chris Godwin three for 46 and Tez Johnson is the leading receiver one for 49
86:40is this already broken there's so much like Tez Johnson in this offense and and then when they came back from the
86:46two minute like for all they came back into the two minute drill because they let the game stopped when they were
86:53going into the two minute and then it was about six hours later that the game resumed they were peppering Tez Ted
86:59Hurst and to the point that like he almost had what would have been the game winning touchdown he it just eventually
87:06slipped like out of his hands at the very last minute so that's been a little bit rocky obviously Jalen McMillan is
87:12not healthy which has been the story for Jalen McMillan unfortunately as a player they they're one of they're very similar to
87:19the Chargers to me Joshua just feels like they've got a lot going on not from like a personnel standpoint they do
87:25kind of just run out the same group of players like they're an 11 personnel team a book is on the field
87:32all the time Godwin's on the field all time K to Otten is on the field all the time and then it
87:38is kind of in this one a little bit more rotating between our guy Ted Hurst and Tez Johnson I mean not
87:45that they're either of our guys but you know what I'm saying like they actually do this is a team that needs
87:52a second tight end badly because they're a little bit predictable and the most that they can do is like mess around
87:58with the funky motions and stuff which like a book gets open on he could he was open for the fourth down
88:05what would have been the game winning touchdown Baker just missed him like whistles once again just a flat out like an
88:11accurate yeah it was even bad through two through two games there's no question like and this wasn't even the just you
88:18know poop your pants mistakes that he made in the first one where he's just careless with the football this was like
88:24inaccurate he's overthrowing guys he get his interception like they're running a bunch of man coverage in early on in this game
88:31are the Cleveland Browns they mix it up with a one zone coverage look and he just gets fooled by a drop
88:37defender and it's like dude you're so deep into your career at this point you cannot make that throw so it was
88:44a it was another bad Baker game unfortunately Herman can I just ask you like no data no stats just eye test
88:50and feel watching the game because to me isn't another one of those inexcusable losses what is the difference between this year's
88:57Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense and the offense that we saw with Mike Evans healthy last year with the book in his role
89:03looking like the next coming of a star receiver in the NFL like just what is going on in Tampa Bay I
89:10don't know man and and like the offensive line hasn't hasn't been quite like the dominant unit that you would think especially
89:17in the pass protection game which makes it worse for Baker Mayfield it does feel like things need to be white hot
89:23for Mayfield to really run well I don't know the whole team is just there's a lot of malaise to it right
89:30now you know Todd Bowles is back and Todd Bowles doesn't really have answers on either side of the ball nobody's really
89:36playing up to their potential because I think the offense is just like I said there's a lot going on here with
89:43all the shifts and the motions and they just feel very disorganized they just need like a they need a settle down
89:49moment to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but I think it is going to be a problem that the defense is so bad
89:56too because it's going to put them in a lot of these situations where they need to throw the ball their mistake
90:02was letting Liam Cohen go I mean it was it would have been painful to do it Todd Bowles like won a
90:09Super Bowl not too long before that but Liam Cohen had the good stuff and Todd Bowles defense been really hard at
90:15least with the Buccaneers next week they only have to face the Vikings defense so right on set.
90:21Oh my God, Minnesota. Everything that we've learned though Hayden through two weeks is that Baker Mayfield is about to throw for
90:27350 and four touchdowns probably the Vikings defense when everything is so unpredictable.
90:31What one more thing about this game? One more thing about this game, Josh.
90:35It stinks by the way if you have Quinchon Judkins on your roster that this is a game they won and he still did.
90:42I mean he scammed his way to five catches but he still did absolutely nothing on the ground.
90:48Not great. Yep. Okay, let's talk about a good team.
90:51Seattle Seahawks are 2 and 0. They demolished the Arizona Cardinals 31 to 37.
90:55Ray, I see a hat trick of touchdowns from JSN like he thinks he's Brian Brabby.
91:00Nine receptions, 155 yards, three scores on just 11 targets.
91:03We can talk about that before we get into this backfield weirdness.
91:06So just overall with the Seahawks 19 of 26 for Drew Locke, 235 three scores.
91:11Compare that to Jacoverset against the Seattle defense, 17 of 28, just 95 yards, two sacks taken there too.
91:16Yeah, this one might be a little quicker of a recap and I guess we can focus in on individuals because it
91:23never really felt like Arizona had a chance. I meant that Jackson Smith and Jigba 82 yarder was on the second play
91:29from scrimmage for Seattle and we said this last week about Carson Wentz getting the ball to Justin Jefferson.
91:35Drew Locke understood the assignment. Get the ball to Jackson Smith and Jigba.
91:39Now Rashid Shaheed did have I think six or seven targets in the game, but it was it was JSN with another
91:4640 percent target share outing and I know a lot of people said this thing again.
91:50Remember that the conversation that I he probably can't repeat that again.
91:54I don't know if he's gonna get like it's all Jackson Smith and Jigba career high.
91:59He's running open. He's catching short deep. It doesn't matter in that that 82 yarder wasn't busted coverage.
92:04I mean it's a filthy double move. I don't know why you were singled up on him anyway.
92:09Touchdown. I mean drew lock get the ball to Jackson Smith and Jigba.
92:13There's really nobody else that you feel confident starting at least from the pass catcher side of the ball.
92:19It's just this is again a good team and I am going to continue this theme of coaches and offensive coordinators.
92:25Give blind furry credit this this dude. There is a fullback number 38 that Russell is his last name make fullbacks great
92:32again because my goodness they are orbit like they're orbit motioning him back into the backfield and then getting him to kick
92:38out the edge rushers and just opening up lanes for Emmanuel Wilson whoever else is back there running the ball, but it's it's creative.
92:45I like what I'm seeing this team as well coached.
92:48They've got a great defense, but offensively it's Jackson Smith and Jigba full stop.
92:52Yeah. Okay, 40 percent. I have to ask about this backfield ray.
92:56The Seahawks played forever ago in week one, but just the box score reads 13 carries for 52 yards for Jadarian price
93:03with a long gain of 25 and then Emmanuel Wilson who only played the short yard stuff in week one 21 carries for 92 yards.
93:10So was this hey the Seahawks are way up on the scoreboard?
93:14So we gave Emmanuel Wilson more or was this how it was throughout the game and not only do we have a
93:20bit of a Helani split, we also have an Emmanuel Wilson split with Jadarian.
93:24Okay, so we did get George Helani out of the way so that we can we can move on from that.
93:31It was Jadarian price early. He did fumble the ball and I thought oh fumble from Jadarian price.
93:36You lost it Emmanuel, but they went back to him.
93:39What ended up happening late Josh was they said rib injury a chest injury is what it said and then a lot
93:45of the Twitter doctors were saying that aka means ribs and once that happened once he took a shot, it was a
93:52outside zone play try to cut it back took a big hit.
93:55You didn't see him anymore. I'm almost positive Emmanuel Wilson had eight straight rush attempts in the fourth quarter.
94:01It was just Wilson Wilson Wilson. He said a career high in the game.
94:05I know Wilson in the game career high. So this wasn't like it was a true split between those two.
94:11It was a lot of Jadarian price early and again, he looked good, but it's just like one play break the tackle
94:18hit the big play, but I thought he played well and look well, but we're gonna have to monitor the chest slash
94:24rib injury, but Emmanuel Wilson was clearly the guy not George Helani after that injury took place.
94:29Okay, I'm worried. I mean worried. Well that that just makes it sound like in an alternate timeline.
94:35That's not too far from this one. Jadarian price could have just had a monster week to and we just get really excited moving forward.
94:42Hey, I hear you. I hear you. Hey, hey, not hear you man, and I'm not trying to I'm not trying to
94:49cope or make up for it, but something had happened to him and they just took him out.
94:54He didn't play they were up and they were just salting the game away.
94:58So it would have been a perfect opportunity to let him run the rock.
95:02They he went and checked out by the trainers and they didn't play him anymore.
95:07So the report was injury even after the fumble they went right back to him and started to give him touches.
95:13So I really do think that at least in this case it was something injury related as to why especially in the
95:20fourth quarter you didn't see him down the stretch much.
95:23Okay, let's talk the Cardinals here. Um, we know last season went down 31 to 7 or 21 to 7 entering fourth quarters.
95:29That's when they sparked up. That's when Jacoba set flew it all over the yard.
95:34Uh, you can't do that against Seattle. It's much more difficult.
95:37And so now through two weeks, Marvin Harrison jr has one catch for 33 yards.
95:42Uh, Kendrick Bourne pops up for two for 11 here.
95:45Michael Wilson, two for 18. Jeremiah love has a total of 12 touches for 45 yards.
95:49And Trey McBride is the only one that gets home on 10 targets, eight receptions, 41 yards and a score.
95:55Uh, no one should have been Cardinals curious today.
95:58Is that fair? No, no, we are not. We are not Cardinals curious against the Seahawks.
96:03I just want to make that statement very well known.
96:06This was honestly, this was BTA situation. This was built to, you know, what the Seahawks were just the better team.
96:12If you just look at time of possession, Arizona only had the ball for 23 minutes in the game.
96:18That's it. They did not have the ball. They rarely had the ball.
96:21They couldn't do much besides throw the ball to Trey McBride.
96:25Jeremiah love nothing. Tyler Algier, uh, every time they threw it to him, I'm like, who is this with the ball?
96:31And why is he moving so slow? Just complete slug out there when he's trying to matriculate the ball down the field.
96:38Like why is Jeremiah love? And when you see this two seven touches, isn't like this great number that you want, but that's a nap.
96:45Like that should be Jeremiah loves work. Not that he was any better, but he was out there.
96:50Slow as all get out. They barely had the ball.
96:53And then offensively I'm done y'all I'm done. I've made excuses.
96:57I've, I've made videos about it. I've looked at the routes.
97:00Marv, his demeanor on the sideline. He's not even a part of the game plan.
97:04It's Trey McBride. It's Michael Wilson. It's throw the ball to anybody other than number 18.
97:09And I'm not going to just give it. It wasn't like Witherspoon was man to man on him.
97:14Josh Jobe is good, but my goodness, you're Marvin Harrison Jr.
97:18The fourth overall pick you're supposed to be this guy.
97:21I'm done. I think it, it, it, that's it.
97:23Looney tunes curtain. That's all folks. You're talking about trading receivers around.
97:27What's the likelihood he gets his, his tail moved because he's not a part of this game plan, not a party offense.
97:33I'm done. Matt, I'll throw this to you is in 10 team leagues is Marvin Harrison droppable.
97:39We're talking about a 6% targets per route right now.
97:41And I don't know what's going to change. Like you don't have to drop them, but like, if you had to, like,
97:48I think that he's firmly like on that list.
97:51Yeah. And 10 teams. I mean, also, by the way, 0% of people should be start, should have started him today.
97:570% of people. Like there was no reason to think he was going to have a big game in this one.
98:03And I mean, I'll still like hold a little candle for Marv.
98:07But I mean, yeah, it just, what do you want to do?
98:10Like this is an offensive through for 95 yards today.
98:13And he's the guy that runs the sacrificial routes.
98:16Matt, you're not even holding the candle. You're holding the match that's burned down to the bottom and it's the little wood stick.
98:23Like that's what we're holding at this point for Marv, man.
98:26Yeah. I think Mike LaFour was asked about Marv at the end of the game.
98:31And he said, I'm quote, not concerned. All right.
98:33You're just lying. Like you're just straight up lying.
98:36If that, if that's the case. Okay. Let's move on.
98:39Eagles fans were incredibly concerned. I mean, Broadway might've burned down if they went to Nashville and lost to the Cincy Titans,
98:45but in the end, a final drive touchdown to put it on 24 to 20 Hayden.
98:50I'm looking all across the board and this seems all over the place for the Eagles offense.
98:55And Jalen Hurts has two interceptions, but also two touchdowns.
98:58Uh, looks like Saquon Barkley left for the vast majority of the game.
99:02So tank Bigsby gets here for 13 carries, 33 yards and one touchdown move around.
99:07Some offensive lineman did not work from rushing game standpoint, but the headliner or two Devante Smith, 10 catches, 117 yards in a score.
99:14And then Don Tavion wicks five for 74. Devante Smith was the best player in this game.
99:19Jalen Hurts was second. And then Don Tavion wicks made a couple of key plays in this one, the ground game.
99:25It's, it's almost over. Uh, they moved camp Juergens to left guard and he had a really tough time in both phases.
99:32He obviously had to face Jeffrey Simmons who absolutely just, uh, crumbled the pocket, uh, pocket for one of the Jalen Hurts interceptions.
99:38But through the first two games, they have a 32% success rate on early down runs.
99:43That is dead last in the NFL. Maybe the Texans are right there, uh, after their game was over, but they just can't run the ball.
99:51Saquon left in the off the, off the first play with a stinger.
99:55He comes back after halftime plays about like a dozen snaps and then was not able to, uh, finish the game.
100:01He's had a history of stingers. And when we're talking about like nerves, like you just don't know if that's going to
100:07be a short-term thing or if that can linger a little bit.
100:11So like, we just don't know. It was pretty clear tank.
100:14Bigs can be their early down guy. And then there was quite a bit of Will Shipley in this one, more in the past protection stuff.
100:22But think because we had a patient goal line touchdown.
100:25I think zooming back out with the Eagles, this team kind of just has to live and die by the past, which
100:32sounds crazy, but the run stuff is just not going to work right now with their interior offensive line play.
100:38They have a new center. Now cam Juergens is not himself.
100:41And they, I was listening to some of the Eagles reporters cam Juergens.
100:45He didn't have any reps at guard, um, in this off season.
100:48So like the communication between Juergens and my lot of was really, really bad in this one.
100:53There was two really bad, uh, interceptions, uh, from Jalen hurts.
100:57And I don't want to do like the, but beside that, but beside that Jalen hurts had a really awesome game, throwing
101:03the ball down the field when he held onto the ball for more than three and a half seconds, plus 0.3 EPA per play.
101:10A lot of that was to Devante Smith who had four receptions on this game winning drive there.
101:16Uh, some second phase plays from this duo on top of that.
101:19Uh, but man, this was way too close. And the reason why this was close is because the Eagles can't, uh, run the ball.
101:26I mean, that just is so fricking frustrating to me.
101:29I mean, so frustrating. They do get the bears next.
101:32Like maybe this is a get right spot, but we'll see.
101:36That's let's put a pin in that. Hey, maybe this might be the most positive.
101:40We're going to be about the Tennessee Titans for weeks.
101:43Did cam word play? Well, he did not play bad.
101:46I, I can't say he played well. I mean, neutral, I guess considering the opponent.
101:50Yes. This was a neutral, which is a, which is a win for, for, for cam ward.
101:55There was not like complete back breaking plays that he's had out there.
101:59Uh, I think maybe the surprise part for, uh, the Tennessee Titans is one, there was, uh, kind of the same rotation between the two running backs.
102:07I thought Pollard looked really good. And then at the end of the game, TyJ Spears had a huge play, uh, on the sideline, like third and 32.
102:16Yeah. They had a couple of weird big moments like that.
102:19And then the past game, the guy that stood out the most was Elika human or who hurtled a defender who also
102:25like on a third and 12 had an in cut for a first down.
102:30He was playing a little bit more. And I think that we can throw Calvin Ridley in that conversation with Jerry Judy,
102:36that there's no reason for Calvin Ridley to be on this football team.
102:40Like he, he can be a wide receiver three for, for a team out there.
102:45Uh, and they do seem like they want to get Elika human or going a little bit, nothing from Wondell Robinson, uh, Cardinal Tate up and down game.
102:53I wouldn't say it's a win or a loss for Cardinal Tate in particular.
102:57I would just say versus an Eagles defense that it's like it's Vic Fangio and, uh, a pass rush that can get home.
103:04It was not a bad game from cam board.
103:07And I would consider that a win. I know, uh, all of us have kind of taken shots at cam ward recently,
103:13but, uh, Ray, I would say this was like a passable grade for cam board, which I've not said in quite a while.
103:20You know, I was ready. I was ready. Hey, and I was ready to say something, but it was, I like how you described it.
103:27It wasn't great, but it wasn't awful as well.
103:30I thought some of his receivers, I know Cardinal Tate had alligator arms early in the game.
103:35It would have been a tough catch and get a hit, but he dropped the ball.
103:40I mean, just, I think for me, I know I went on record saying today I'm not trusting and starting any Tennessee
103:46Titan and coming out of this one. Hey, and I don't know if I really feel any better about anybody.
103:52I benched Tony Pollard in our league. Maybe he's playable, but is there, how do you feel about the passing game?
103:59Cardinal Tate, Wondell Robinson, Gunnar Helm, are those guys just bench players?
104:02Just do not start them right now. Yeah. Yeah.
104:05You can't start any of them. Cardinal Tate's probably going to be their best guy this year, but he's not going to have like the gimme targets.
104:13And we didn't get the Wondell Robinson scam touches here.
104:16He only had one target here. Like there will be weeks where we are going to get those scam targets.
104:22I can promise you that Brian Dable can't control himself.
104:25So I would say in a past game, nothing.
104:27Tony Pollard was out there for some of the goal line reps.
104:31He did have twice as many carries as Ty J Spears.
104:34I guess in like a 12 team league, Tony Pollard is like a flex candidate.
104:39I hope you have a better play than that at this point.
104:42And Tony Pollard did get like the first and the second drive.
104:46So it's still Ty J Spears kind of climbing uphill.
104:49I would say you don't want to start any Tennessee Titans.
104:52Like in that, that's coming off of probably one of the best offensive games in, in quite a while.
104:58I think that's my point. And a game that was not bad for Cam Ward, the two players that we drafted or
105:04could theoretically have been drafted as receivers and Colonel Tate and Wondell Robinson did very, very, very little.
105:10Um, and it seemed like you asked, Hey, can anyone be trusted?
105:13Kind of seems like Brian Dable and company didn't want to put this game in Cam Ward's hands to the tune that,
105:20you know, they had 29 carries versus 20 dropbacks.
105:22And that's probably the way to try to beat this Vic Fangio defense, especially when you get kind of two early turnovers on that.
105:30Let's keep it moving. Matt big rebound for the new England Patriots being the Pittsburgh Steelers 20 to three.
105:35Uh, we know the Patriots have no more wide receivers after AJ Brown.
105:39I'm wondering if Aaron Rogers is back to where we were before.
105:43I mean, 23 of 39, one 87. That's a 4.8 yards per attempt for sacks taken on top of it for 43 yards lost.
105:50Uh, and then compare that to the Patriots who get back when they're playmakers in trivia on Henderson and really his 39
105:56yard touchdown early in this game was kind of the difference in the entire game.
106:01Yeah. Um, just quickly on the Patriots, I don't feel great about their offense coming out of this one.
106:06Um, especially as right cackle, Michael, when you, uh, fractured his ankle.
106:10So, I mean, that's a serious injury. They also just kind of lived off explosive plays in this game.
106:16Not just the Travion Henderson one came on a kind of a shotgun draw 39 yard touchdown.
106:21He was almost untouched on that one. Just completely free lane there.
106:24Um, otherwise the run game kind of was what it was.
106:28It was definitely a much better day for Romeo Dobbs though, to, to give credit to Romeo Dobbs.
106:33Like we're saying they have no receivers, but this was actually what you would imagine if you thought about like what Romeo Dobbs would be.
106:40Um, he did have one kind of like what I would say was a drop ish where he's it's behind him and
106:47he's got to like, just make an adjustment to get the hand, get the hands on it.
106:52But he had some explosive plays. Drake may had four plays of 20 plus yards, uh, in this game after zero in
106:58week one, he did also have like kind of a slight fade away interception under pressure on the first drive of the
107:05second half, right after a nice grab from Romeo Dobbs, but that was a terrible pick, uh, from Drake may, but yeah,
107:12Romeo Dobbs read ran the most routes on this team and he was like basically just an outside receiver, which is why
107:18this, the construction of this room is very weird.
107:21Cause if AJ Brown is there, they use him as just a pure outside receiver and Dobbs basically only had success as
107:27kind of like an X receiver for the green Bay Packers.
107:31So the whole room is weird. I don't feel great about them.
107:34Uh, it was a slog of a day for new England offensively.
107:38They just happened to be playing against what I think is a completely, completely hopeless unit in the Pittsburgh series.
107:44Like, honestly guys, I have no, I don't know where they go from here and I don't know where you want me
107:50to start, but they got their butts kicked today, especially upfront.
107:53Like the offensive line was wrecked. Uh, according to next gen stats, Spencer Anderson gave up seven quarterback pressures in this one and also a sack.
108:01So, um, brutal day all around for the passing offense.
108:04I don't know where you guys want me to start, but I mean, I have nothing but really bad things to say.
108:11So what, yeah, what answers do we have? Right.
108:13I see Jalen Warren, 11 carries 43 yards. Rico down all seven for 22.
108:18I think Rico left in the game. He was carded off at one point, came back in the second half.
108:24Okay. Wow. Paul Pierce. Yeah. And then we have the receiving usage, our guy, the gamer and Jeremy Bernard pops up with
108:30the second most targets with eight, four for 35.
108:33And then Matt, I have to ask after DK has hidden yards in week one and the underlying metrics.
108:38Love him. Once again, he pops up with nine targets, the most in the team, but that only equals four for 27.
108:45So is DK Metcalf just almost better in theory than he is in practice?
108:49And how long is that going to last for first on Jeremy Bernard?
108:53Uh, he had like three consecutive catches at one point in this game.
108:57And I was like, Ooh, Jeremy's kind of heating up here.
109:00But, uh, he, his, I think his final target of the day was a bobbled screen pass.
109:05He popped it up into the air and it was ended up going for an interception.
109:10Uh, he did run 86% of the routes, but it was just a pretty brutal moment.
109:15Um, that was, yeah, that was one of the, well, I don't know.
109:19You can't doghouse somebody for turnovers when Aaron Rogers, I mean, he did get lit up at one point.
109:24Uh, sack fumble, they recover the fumble. It ended up being a fourth and 43, by the way, never seen fourth and
109:3143 in my life, but that's how that went.
109:33And then another sack fumble early in the fourth.
109:36So a lot of turnovers, not just from Jeremy Bernard from the quarterback to on DK Metcalf at one point, JJ Watts
109:43said they need DK Metcalf to be, you know, a wide receiver one paraphrasing here.
109:47I'm like, here's the problem boys. He's not like, he hasn't been for several years and they paid him a dumb contract
109:54after that trade that makes him again, where he, he's just, he's just not that guy at this point.
109:59He has 19 targets through two games. Only four players have more targets than that.
110:04I'm on Ross St. Brown, Chris Olave, Trey McBride and Dalton Schultz.
110:07Somehow he has 67 yards. That is the same amount of yards as David and Joku, who was carted off today.
110:1473 players have more yards than DK Metcalf right now, uh, including Ryan Miller of the Miami dolphins.
110:19So it's been a horrific start to the year for DK Metcalf.
110:22Um, and today was one of those situations where he was going to be banged no matter what, because he gets the
110:29shadow treatment from Christian Gonzalez, who's like a way better corner than he is a receiver.
110:34And they basically just only stick them on the outside and run low percentage routes with the quarterback who only throws low percentage routes.
110:41So, I mean, DK is screwed in fantasy and in real life, again, the whole, like they need him to be something that he's just not.
110:49Didn't he drop three or four as well? Oh yes.
110:52He also, he also dropped a bunch of passes too.
110:55Yeah. That's a great. Yeah. He had just another drop, another drop.
110:58And then, and then he wants to push and shove Christian Gonzalez.
111:02Cause he's pissed off. Like you're dropping. That's the thing.
111:05Like you're not going to get that many clean opportunities in this game and the clean opportunities he did get.
111:11He pretty much dropped them all. So Matt, my last question just goes to the Patriots backfield.
111:16Now that we got Hendo back in, I believe I saw Ramondre fumbled early on in this game too.
111:21So we close with 16 carries for Hendo versus six for Ramondre.
111:25Are there any sweeping conclusions we can take from this?
111:28Uh, Ramondre fumbled on the first drive too, by the way.
111:31So, uh, you start off with your wrong foot there.
111:34If you're a monitor Stevenson, um, yeah, Henderson ended up playing more snaps, got way more carries.
111:39You know, Stevenson was pretty much shelved at one point after the fumble came back later in the game.
111:45I, I think again, with another, with an offensive line injury here, uh, Eli Raritan also got hurt in this game after
111:51he had a splash catch and he's a pretty useful blocker for them.
111:55I just really wonder like if this offense is going to be bad and we're not going to, we're going to be
112:02talking about last year with the Russian game. And we're talking about a split backfield on a, on a team that's really shaky and Henderson.
112:09Yeah. He had the one explosive play and like Henderson, he can do that, but I'm still kind of waiting on him
112:16being more of like a consistent down to down threat.
112:19And I don't know that we saw that in this game necessarily.
112:22They're in Jacksonville next week too, which is like historically just a really awesome run defense team.
112:27If we don't have good answers, if both of them would be hard to trust.
112:32I will say after that at Buffalo Raiders, Jets, bears, dolphins in a row there.
112:36So like, if you want to dream big on Travion, like in a little bit here, I think that you, this was
112:43like the, the first bit of evidence in like what eight, nine months that we've had of Travion Henderson.
112:48So like, I still want to like count this as a win.
112:52Yeah. There was like an eight game stretch last year where the only successful runs this team had when both were out
112:59there were the outside pitches to Travion Henderson. And I'm wondering for kind of getting back to that already.
113:04All right. I know offenses have been struggling across the league, but not Bryce Young, not this one Panthers.
113:10They dominate. And I mean, dominate the Atlanta Falcons 34 to 33.
113:13This is another three touchdown game from Bryce Young.
113:16The first, a fourth and goal from the three yard line.
113:19Dave Canales puts his nuts on the table immediately.
113:22Chuba Hubbard receiving touchdown. Next after that couple of field goals, Bryce gets the ball with 102 left on the clock ahead
113:29of halftime on his own 27 immediate sack second and 16.
113:32He rips it 55 yards to Xavier Lee get yes down the heart of the defense splits both the safeties three plays
113:38later, a third down touchdown pass to Mr. high rocks himself, Darren Waller, his first of two on the day.
113:44Then out of halftime, another third and 12, a perfectly timed throw route from Bryce Young to Jalen Coker for a first down.
113:51Then he gets a single high look, a blitzer directing his face.
113:55Bryce Young lobs it to the left to Ted Aaron McMillan, 29 yards, one on one along the sideline, third and fourth
114:01scramble to set up first and goal. And then yes, I'm first and goal again, threaded 12 yard touchdown to Darren Waller
114:08for a second of the day that puts the Panthers up 27 to three.
114:12Now that's good, but the real MVP and yes, he'll be the defensive player of the week.
114:17He did something that no one's ever done in history since like 1950.
114:21Devin Lloyd, the free agent linebacker for the Panthers pass breakup on the first drive to force an early interception, another interception
114:27on Cooper rush later on a tackle for loss on Drake London that Tommy Reese, instead of a fourth and one to hand off to Bijon.
114:35Instead, he calls an end around to Drake London who gets tackled five yards in the backfield.
114:40So turnover on downs there, a sack from Devin Lloyd, and then a pick six on Jack Strand's first pass of his NFL career.
114:47Uh, just a hell of a day for Devin Lloyd.
114:50And this is likely the end of Cooper rushes career.
114:53He fumbled on the first snap on a scramble interception on the fourth snap, and he was relentlessly getting booed by, I
115:00guess you call them the Falcons faithful to the point that some fan brought a, we want strand sign.
115:06Oh, so homemade to the stands. And uh, you got what you asked for there as well.
115:11Dude, they probably paid real American dollars for that.
115:13Yeah, they, they, they went, they went to FedEx and said, I take, take my money, my hard earned United States, uh, dollars and print that thing out.
115:22That's where the Falcons are. I saw Drake London was like yelling at, was it fans or teammates or something?
115:28I mean, he's got to be one of the most like frustrated players.
115:31Look at that. We want to, that's not bad.
115:34That's the production quality could be a lot worse.
115:37He's been at least, you know, two hours making that thing.
115:40Um, just quickly in the Falcons, like Bijon 4.5 yards per carry 16 carries 72 yards.
115:45I don't think he touched the football with like 12 minutes to go in the game because it was so over, uh,
115:51Drake London, five targets, four receptions, 51 yards, a nice early 17 yard game.
115:56But after that, it was really tough sledding and cow pits, one catch for 15 yards, had another one bounce out of
116:02his hands and the rest of the game, Mike does not matter for the Falcons.
116:07Uh, yeah, go ahead. I got a question for you, man, because I'm kind of with you.
116:12There's been a lot of Bryce Young slander. And as we sit back today and look at the state of the quarterback
116:18position, Drake may, uh, four interceptions, the one touchdown, Bo Nix launching picks left and right, you know, all of this stuff, Jaden Daniels, we'll talk about that.
116:26I mean, are you starting Bryce Young? Uh, is this must start territory at this point with how he's playing?
116:32Um, look at the consolidation for the offense again, like that that's another three touchdowns without McMillan nor Jalen Coker getting in the end zone.
116:40He's playing great football right now. Like I get, he can only face who's on the schedule, but is he getting to
116:46the point where he's on must start territory? So we have talked about this relentlessly, Matt, you've done so on your show, Ray, you have as well.
116:54People did not wrap their heads around Dave Canales giving up the play calling and it going to Brad Edzik.
117:00And there is such a massive difference here of immediately from the first series of the first game, them allowing and building
117:07an offense around Bryce Young's downfield capabilities to the tune that he is top five and intended air yards per attempt right now in the league.
117:15I mean, he's tied with Justin Herbert and Josh Allen in terms of intended air yards per attempt only behind Trevor Lawrence and Lamar Jackson.
117:22And he's completing a bunch of them. And this is an aggressive downfield style, not ball control.
117:27Granted, they have played the bears and they have played the Atlanta Falcons.
117:31But guess what guys next two weeks, you got the Browns and the lions.
117:35So if we're getting in lines on the Bryce Young, not just super flex, but in single quarterback stuff, it's these next
117:42two weeks where you could have again, very similar performances.
117:45I think to this one, Hayden, Josh, what about the backfield here?
117:48I saw Jonathan Brooks with a groin injury. I'm assuming that's the same groin injury that he had in training camp.
117:54It's just going to be the Chuba Hubbard as like a top 15 fantasy running back.
117:59Yep, it is that simple. Chuba Hubbard was in there early on in the I-10 stuff.
118:04He got 12 carries for 53 yards again to get that receiving touchdown.
118:08And then, you know, Jonathan Brooks mixed in here and there, just five carries.
118:12But his last carry was like you were expecting a, let's say, Emmanuel Wilson type fourth quarter for him.
118:18Like, let's give him 10 carries. Let's have some fun.
118:21Let's see what he's got. He tries to turn the corner and then has zero juice, takes himself to the medical tent.
118:27And yeah, Dave Canales says it is the same groin issue that sparked up in training camp.
118:32And so I'm assuming I wouldn't be surprised if he gets puts on like short term IR for that.
118:38And AJ Dillon is going to be the backup backup quarterback or backup running back here.
118:43So yeah, I mean, it's, it's all Chuba Hubbard.
118:45And I will say this, the Panthers offense, like this was not a clean process for this team.
118:51I think the offensive line had eight or nine penalties, including two false starts by Rob Hunt, some holdings, illegal hands to face, all this type of stuff.
118:59They overcame it. So there's still some things to iron out with that.
119:03But man, we'd love to see 10 targets for Teddero McMillan, five for one-on-one.
119:07They did some cool leak patterns, some move out of the pocket, all that type of stuff.
119:12Jalen Coker, by the way, is now this team's punt returner on top of it.
119:17And he goes for 36 yards on the first punt return out there.
119:20I've never seen him do it. I mean, I would know.
119:24I mean, he's just, what can't he do? What can't he do on this team?
119:28Nothing. And he even gets eight for 66, including, you know, an awesome sideline grab.
119:33And then Darren Waller is the sneaky tight end premium play, especially when we get to like the low red zone where
119:39he adds that third dynamic with T-Mac, with Jalen Coker.
119:42And then you get Darren Waller more in the slot and you can like run in breakers.
119:47You can run pylon routes, corner routes with him.
119:50And yeah, he's a go-to player for them in the tight red zone.
119:54That's for sure. Nothing. All right. We got two more quick games.
119:57Ray, your Dallas Cowboys rebound in a big way, 37 to 20 win over the Washington Commanders.
120:02I hate to say it, but I think the only place to start though is with those Commanders because their season might've changed entirely.
120:09Jane Daniels looks to re-injure the same elbow injury as last year.
120:13Looks like a dislocation to my untrained eye. The thing with it, Ray, it wasn't on contact.
120:18He was going from under center and trying to plant with it, put it on the turf.
120:23And it almost goes in the opposite direction and pops out there.
120:27So we saw this offense look like last year, albeit with Cliff Kingsbury and Marcus Mariota leading the operation.
120:32But again, here we are after week two with Commanders 0-2 and without their franchise quarterback.
120:37Yeah, this was definitely the biggest takeaway, right? We could talk about Dak and there's some really, really awesome stats about what Dak did.
120:44Something that hadn't been done in two years. And maybe we'll get to that.
120:48But Jay Daniels, and I'll just say this, different circumstances, different injured parts of the body.
120:53But this feels exactly like the time when the Washington Commanders had a all-star rookie quarterback, rushed him back on the field.
121:00And then the second season he got injured again and was never the same.
121:04This happened on the play before halftime. He stumbled out, out from the snap, went back to put his hand on the ground.
121:11No one fell on him. Just it popped out again.
121:14And all you're thinking is, like, is this going to be a common occurrence?
121:18It looked and felt so bad because he gets on the cart and he's driving off and you can just see disappointment on his face.
121:25It wasn't tears. It felt like he was saying, damn it, here we go again.
121:30And yeah, that's the biggest takeaway. And once that happened, I mean, they were so desperate, y'all.
121:35They ran, I believe in one series, they had two different trick plays where they're throwing the ball to receiver and missing Terry McLaurin down the field.
121:43And they try to do something else on the opposite side of the field.
121:47And you're watching like, what is David Blau doing?
121:50I'll just say this. Dallas's defense is still terrible.
121:52So anybody can run on them. And Jay Daniels was running all over him prior to the injury.
121:58But this is tough. And I'll say, I don't know where they go from here.
122:02But because Dallas defense is so bad, once Marcus Mariota got in, he was doing the same stuff Jay Daniels was doing.
122:09It just, the defense is so bad in Dallas that it didn't really kind of matter who was there.
122:14But moving forward, I thought the running backs played really well.
122:18Stephon Diggs, I think we've all talked about him.
122:20He's their best wide receiver, full stop right now, especially with Chig Okonkwo out.
122:24This is, this is rough for Washington. Did Terry McLaurin have a touchdown called back?
122:29Like his day might look a lot different than it was here.
122:33He didn't, it was, he didn't, he never got it.
122:35Like it was in the end zone, got up, they called it a touchdown, but the ball, once you see the replay, he never had control of it.
122:44It was on the ground. It could have looked better.
122:47And then Antonio, he did miss him wide open on a, on a trick play.
122:51But the primary, it felt like it was Stephon Diggs when they needed to play down the stretch.
122:57You see the nine targets here, Hayden shaking his head.
123:00Go ahead, Hayden. It felt like Diggs was the best guy on the field for him.
123:04I've just keep getting like a Monroe St. Brown vibes, like from the David Blau offense.
123:09Like there was backfield stuff. Once again, uh, you just open underneath and he looks really explosive.
123:14I mean, he was getting Cooper to Jean one-on-one in week one multiple times and just like cooking him.
123:20And he, he, he dropped a couple passes in that week.
123:23One game that could have been like a hundred yards in, in even more.
123:27Uh, and then once again, like you said, nine targets in this one, I did see his one touchdown grab, which was by design as well.
123:35So like he's the easy button in this offense.
123:38I'm not sure if they're going to be able to run the ball that consistently this year because the state of their
123:44offensive line, it's all Connerly's, uh, banged up with a, with a finger injury on top of it.
123:50So like if they're going to have to do like a scammy version with Marcus Mariota and I think Marcus Mariota among
123:56backup quarterbacks is like absolutely one of the best in the league.
124:00And we saw that like the EPA numbers the last couple of years, like he can absolutely run a scammy type of
124:06offense, if not even something better than that. So I think that Steph digs, like no doubt about it.
124:12Top 30 guy, uh, in fantasy right now, I've got some bad news for you.
124:16They, they, they face the Seattle Seahawks in week three and week four, but, but if you're, but again, if we're going
124:23back to like the conversation about how 0% of people should have started Marvin Harrison today, like this, Terry McLaurin is going to be that sacrificial player.
124:31Uh, again, uh, it looks like Antonio Williams was tied with the army Brown for second on the team and routes ahead of Steph on dig.
124:39So I don't know if digs can just like not play a full snap chair at this point in his career, or
124:45if like they don't want him out there in a blocking game and look, yeah, his contract to hold it.
124:51Also, by the way, my, my, my, my boy, Stefan digs, like never been interested in the blocking game, evil, even at his like best, uh, best days.
124:59Like we, I've even like talked with him about that.
125:02So, um, yeah, I mean, William, like maybe we just don't need all these Dami Brown routes.
125:07Cause I would like to see more Antonio Williams.
125:10I'd like to see more Steph digs, but yeah, I'm with Hayden.
125:14Like at this point, he should be the odds on favor to lead this team in targets, catches and yards going forward.
125:20Right. Anything you want to say about the Cowboys?
125:23Oh yeah. I'll just say Dami Brown did have a touchdown that when y'all see it, I have no idea how that was not called a touchdown.
125:31I'll just, even the announcers were like, that should have been, I don't know how they, they ruled that Cowboys.
125:37I think the biggest takeaway CD lamb is, is the guy.
125:40I mean, it was great to see him get back going again.
125:44And let me just read this from you about that Prescott, his 17.9 EPA across his dropbacks in this game, the most
125:50amongst any quarterback who faced the pressure rate North of 40% in a game over the last two seasons.
125:56He was 17 for 18, all four of his touchdowns when he was kept clean and all four of his TDs traveled 10 yards down the field.
126:04It felt like this often said, okay, we don't know what happened in week one, but let's get to doing what we do best.
126:11And the most disappointing part of the offense was how bad Javante Williams looked.
126:15I mean, I'm, I'm looking at him run like they've got to find somebody else with some juice in the backfield.
126:21He looked terrible running the ball today. Jake Ferguson, two touchdowns, go figure that would happen after I slandered him all week,
126:28but George Pickens and CD lamb both had eight plus targets, but it was CD lamb as, as the one.
126:34And there's no doubt about it. It is CD lamb as the primary George Pickens is the secondary in this offense.
126:40Next two weeks for the Cowboys, some big tests, the Ravens and the Texans.
126:44So, uh, look, they, they poured it on the commanders here, but, uh, those would be some interesting conversations.
126:50Obviously they're very straight lined with who gets the fancy points, but maybe just our expectations with that.
126:55Okay. I'll just quickly go through the 49ers and the dolphins.
126:59I had this on the second screen. Um, I mean the 49ers demolished them 35 to, to 13.
127:04Brock Purdy was freaking outstanding in the pocket out of the pocket, short area, quickness, 20 of 22.
127:09He had as many touchdowns as he did in completions for 287 yards was also the team's leading rusher with 30 yards and a rushing score.
127:17Uh, Chris McCaffrey does get 10 carries for 23 yards and two goal line touchdowns on top of it.
127:23I think the big takeaway is George Kittle on almost back-to-back plays gets a 40 yarder on this kind of boot action, second level throw to Kittle.
127:31And then he scampers for 40 and then two ish plays later, uh, is wide open in the end zone for a 16 yard grab for a score.
127:39So he's the team's leading receiver. And then Mike Evans was one yard short of a touchdown on a crossing route himself finishes three targets, three catches 54.
127:47He left with a hip injury. I think at that time, the 49ers were up like 35 to six.
127:53So I am assuming that those two things are linked Hayden and Mike Evans isn't very banged up.
127:58Uh, it was just time to rest him for the rest of the day.
128:03Yeah. They said it was not serious after the game.
128:06I had the same read on that. I mean, but we can't overstate this.
128:10This was a perfect game from Brock Purdy. Like looking at like the advanced numbers, like it does not get better than what they did there.
128:17This dolphins team by far the youngest. And, uh, that's at all levels.
128:21Chop Robinson was out there. Like we know that we have to play players against the dolphins, but we're getting close.
128:28So like, this could be like a historically bad dolphins defense, uh, this year.
128:32Oh yeah. And to, to your point, they are the youngest roster offensively and they're the youngest roster defensively.
128:37Uh, and it shows out there that 49ers players were wide open all over the field, just flat out wide open.
128:44Um, on for the dolphins. That wasn't the case for Malik Willis takes four sacks in this game.
128:49Uh, 197 yards. I would assume a lot of that was in the second half.
128:53Um, and then yeah, Devon HN just tough sledding, uh, 20 carries 74 yards.
128:58They'd have some like downfield targets on his six, but just catches three for, for 19.
129:02Um, and yeah, I don't think there's all the other things.
129:06Josh, can I ask you a tough question that nobody wants to hear and nobody wants, nobody probably wants to answer this is Christian McCaffrey.
129:13Just, I get what he scores us and we take the points, but is there, is he getting to the point where he is declining?
129:20Like it does he, when you're watching him, like when I saw that swing route and he tried to juke a defender
129:27and he got pissed because he got tackled, he couldn't make a move.
129:31Is he, I don't want to say cooked, but are we getting there with Christian McCaffrey?
129:36So we can close on this. Um, the CMC stuff, as we talked about last week, and we talked about during stats
129:42versus film, I buy into, and this game script was out of whack, but that Kalen Black isn't going to lead this team in carries every single week.
129:51Um, but is going to take the largest piece of the pie that we've ever seen attached to CMC.
129:56Maybe that's 70, 30, 65, 35. And that's going to make CMC closer to, I don't know, the running back eight or 12 and expected points.
130:04Now in this game, obviously you play him and you started me and gets two goal line touchdowns, but outside of that,
130:10there's not as much, but then the trade-off with that is hopefully he's more explosive, more spry versus literally being the least,
130:17you know, efficient and explosive runner in the league last season.
130:20So it's a good offense that we want to be a part of.
130:24I would always take the 90% usage on running back one over and over and over again that we got last year.
130:31I think the big question, Ray, and Hey, now we'd love your input on this.
130:35Does, would that make CMC like a silent killer for your team?
130:39If you took him as the fifth overall player and he finishes as like the 14th overall player, or should we just
130:45be like fine with that and we move on?
130:48I mean, I think so. I mean, you're going to look at some crazy box scores from Jameer Gibbs and we'll see
130:54about, you know, obviously like Jamar Chase, JSNs of the world.
130:58Like that's, that's who we sandwiched between. So we'll, we'll see on that.
131:02I do think McCaffrey is going to be just fine because it looks like this 49ers team might just be like the
131:08third or fourth best offense again, you know? And if that's the case, then even in that role, he's going to have
131:15box scores like this where you get 20 fantasy points and whether he was good or not, like it doesn't really matter.
131:21He's not going to have the legendary season though, that he's had previously.
131:25Um, so I guess that's disappointing. Yeah. I think there's a difference in like 20 fancy points per game, which he did
131:32score this week versus 16, 15 per week. Yes.
131:34All right. Yeah. That does it. I know I'll be back tomorrow night after Monday night football with Joel Smith on the waiver wire.
131:41Tune into that episode. Thank you all for the comments, Ray.
131:45You're the man, Matt. You're the man go and watch their channels, go and watch their work.
