A.J. Brown

NegativeInjury45:05

Brown's injury status and return timeline remain unclear. Matt Harmon expresses concern about when he will return and what his performance will look like upon return, citing uncertainty as a major fantasy concern for Patriots receivers going forward.

Insight page
NegativeInjury55:51

AJ Brown is out and not expected to return for four more weeks; his absence significantly limits the Patriots' passing game creativity and offensive ceiling.

Insight page

Adam Thielen

PositiveRole36:45

Thielen is running on 90% of dropbacks in an offense that ranks first in plays per game and first in no-huddle rate; Matt Harmon expects the offense to turn increasingly pass-heavy as the season progresses, with potential for 40+ pass attempts per game, making Thielen a core target in a high-volume passing attack.

Insight page

Alec Ingold

NegativeRole55:36

Ingold, a fullback who has been in the Chargers' offense for four years, is making blocking mistakes and missing assignments at the point of attack on blocking plays; these auxiliary blocker errors are a key reason for the offense's poor performance, not just the offensive line.

Insight page

Alec Pierce

PositiveProjection16:00

Alec Pierce is second in burst metric (9.37 mph off the line, just behind Chris Olave) and has more routes where he hits 20 mph or more than anybody else since he earned the 'lead freak' designation. However, he's currently hurt.

Insight page

Alvin Kamara

PositiveRole39:41

Kamara is benefiting from Derek Carr's receiver-friendly play-calling and Kellen Moore's scheme. The offense is running a high volume of plays each week, and Kamara is one of the two primary pass-game targets alongside Chris Olave. Matt Harmon is bullish on passing game players in this Saints offense due to pace and Carr's tendency to get receivers into good rhythm.

Insight page

Baker Mayfield

NegativeRole23:07

Matt Harmon attributes the Buccaneers' passing game struggles to Baker Mayfield's play; he's described as being in his own head and trying to do too much after already getting paid. Harmon suggests the Buccaneers should run the ball 35 times to settle Mayfield down, indicating concerns about his decision-making and composure through two games.

Insight page
NegativeProjection24:42

Mayfield is creating his own bad luck through bad decisions and turnovers; he ranks 30th in sack EPA loss per drop back and is forcing aimless throws into tight windows rather than working within the system, compounding process-driven mistakes that led to fumble losses against Cincinnati.

Insight page
NegativeUsage25:01

Mayfield ranks first in air yards per attempt on early downs but is 30th in sack EPA loss per drop back, indicating he is trying to get everything back through aggressive, aimless throws rather than executing the intermediate, system-based passing game that fits his receivers' skill sets.

Insight page
NegativeProjection26:58

Baker Mayfield's performance is inconsistent and cap-dependent; he's never the 15th-best quarterback in the NFL but rather oscillates between 25th and 5th with no middle ground. His lows are lows and highs are highs, and at age 30+ with $50 million in cap hit, he must hit star throws in the red zone but is missing them, as evidenced by a missed post-route to A Book on fourth down in Week 2.

Insight page
NegativeProjection29:00

Baker Mayfield's efficiency with and without Mike Evans is stark: 7.3 yards per drop-back with Evans (8th among 37 QBs) vs. 6.6 without (22nd); success rate 6th with Evans (comparable to Dak Prescott) but 36th without. This shows heavy reliance on Evans and poor efficiency when he's unavailable, with many empty forays and screens filling the play-calling.

Insight page

Blake Corum

PositiveProjection61:16

Corum looked awesome on Monday night and is ranked ahead of Tony Pollard this week; he's an explosive run guy who could benefit from the Broncos' run defense struggles; he's viable this week despite being in a two-series, one-series split with Kyron Williams, and could get more carries if Williams fumbles again or gets injured.

Insight page

Braelon Allen

NegativeRole60:30

Allen is a decent runner at running back for the Jets, part of a diverse backfield that gives the offense flexibility to pivot depending on matchup.

Insight page

Breece Hall

NegativeRole60:31

Hall is very talented but the Jets are running gap-based concepts and hunt big plays; they're 11th in rushing success rate so far this year, showing a more sustaining run game; Hall is part of a diverse offensive attack that can attack defenses in multiple ways.

Insight page

Bryce Lance

NegativeRole39:41

Lance has run 77 routes this season and is operating as a sacrificial player in the Saints offense, drawing only 6.5% targets per route. His role is to occupy defenders on concepts like take-two routes that free up other receivers; he's positioned in the slot to draw coverage and create space for Chris Olave and other pass catchers.

Insight page
PositiveRole42:33

Lance is getting traditional offensive looks with two-post routes that take two defenders with him, creating space for receivers. Matt Harmon compares his process favorably to Derek Carr's—he gets the ball to the right target, gives plays chances, and gets rid of the ball when pressured, including a well-placed wheel route throw to A.J. Brown on third down despite immediate pressure. This good process is expected to lead to big plays down the road.

Insight page

Bryce Young

PositiveProjection5:18

Bryce Young is fantasy's quarterback two through two weeks; he's been pushing the football aggressively with good looks from the offense, though the caveat is that Carolina faced the Bears defense in week one (which is weak against the pass) and the Falcons (a zombie team). The offense has been aggressive on early downs and in obvious passing situations, which is encouraging for his sustainability.

Insight page
PositiveProjection19:18

Matt Harmon's evaluation has improved through two weeks; Young is bailing pockets earlier than desired but offsetting inefficiency with explosive plays downfield (including to Xavier Leggett) rather than just checkdowns. He's reduced throwaway rates and is turning more balls in play, showing increased confidence in his reads. Harmon is encouraged by aggression and willingness to push the ball, though he wants to see performance against better defenses before finalizing 2026 outlook; the Eagles game will be a key test of whether the Panthers can matriculate the ball down the field.

Insight page
PositiveProjection21:18

Young is showing more confidence and better decision-making with experience; he's clearing the bar of being able to start and play well in the NFL with good surrounding talent. Matt Harmon believes the Panthers' offensive surroundings are strong enough to support Young's development, and he's generally buying the Panthers' trend up despite only two games played.

Insight page
PositiveProjection38:28

Bryce Young is willing to 'chuck it' and is doing creation stuff on third downs; the Panthers rank 10th in pass rate over expected and first in plays per game, first in no-huddle rate, and first in seconds per play, suggesting the offense will turn increasingly pass-heavy with potential for 40+ pass attempts per game as the season progresses.

Insight page
PositiveUsage39:52

Bryce Young has run 77 routes through two weeks, indicating significant involvement in the passing game despite limited touches; this high route volume suggests growing offensive integration and potential for increased target opportunities.

Insight page

Bucky Irving

PositiveBreakout23:38

Matt Harmon is high on Bucky Irving as a viable running back who will be real and productive; he knew this preseason and intended to use Irving as his flex player but missed out on redraft shares due to other options. Harmon believes the Buccaneers' run game has meat on the bone and Irving can be a key part of it, even though the passing game is struggling.

Insight page
PositiveRole24:01

Irving holds 77% of running back touches with Sean Tucker and Kenny Gain providing minimal role; he is the clear lead back in Tampa Bay's run game, which ranks 17th in rushing success rate on early downs and 14th in explosive rushes with potential to reach top 10 in that category.

Insight page
PositiveProjection24:05

Matt Harmon intended Irving as his flex play for the entire season but failed to follow through; the Tampa Bay run game is real and Irving is a big-time hit at the position with the run game looking good as a bare minimum outcome.

Insight page

Cade Otton

PositiveRole25:42

Otton is being forced into a Mike Evans replacement role as the primary tight end target, but Baker Mayfield is making poor decisions by forcing the ball into tight windows to Otton rather than executing the intermediate, system-based passing game that should define Tampa Bay's offense.

Insight page

Cam Ward

NegativeRole59:09

Ward had a nice game against the Eagles, standing out as a top receiver on third down; for the Titans, it's all about making sure Ward is the right guy, with his play being more important to real football than fantasy viability at this stage.

Insight page

Chris Godwin

NegativeRole25:29

Godwin is built for efficiency with intermediate and underneath routes in Tampa Bay's system rather than aggressive deep-ball opportunities; the offense is throwing a lot of screens to manage Baker Mayfield's decision-making issues.

Insight page

Chris Olave

PositiveProjection12:30

Chris Olave is one of four teams with two wide receivers in the top 18 in route participation (over 90%); he's at the top of the burst metric (9.39 mph off the line, easily the highest) and is one of the fastest long-speed guys in the league. He's part of the Saints offense which is trending up.

Insight page
PositiveRole39:41

Olave is receiving frequent targets on quick out routes and over-the-middle concepts from Derek Carr. Matt Harmon notes Carr developed great chemistry with Olave last year and continues to launch it at least three times over the middle to him per game, leaving him wide open. Olave benefits from Bryce Lance's decoy role and Kellen Moore's receiver-friendly play-calling scheme.

Insight page
PositiveValue43:57

Olave is playing up to his contract and more, earning less per year than D.K. Metcalf despite superior production. Matt Harmon calls him a superstar and projects him as an all-pro this year, expressing frustration that he didn't win rookie of the year. The Saints' passing game is fantasy-friendly, and Olave is a key piece driving that offense's upside.

Insight page

Chuba Hubbard

PositiveValue8:00

Chuba Hubbard is going down as one of the best picks in fantasy right now despite the Jonathan Brooks mystery box hype in the offseason; he's been rock solid and useful as a receiver. The Panthers brought in Austin Eckler for a workout but he didn't sign, leaving this as the Chuba Hubbard show going forward. The run game still looks really good and interesting, and Hubbard is executing well.

Insight page
NegativeRole37:09

The Panthers' run game has been poor through two weeks; Matt Harmon notes the interior offensive line is getting pushed back and susceptible to strength, and the team's run game is 'really bad right now,' which may force the offense to go pass-heavy rather than lean on Hubbard as a featured back.

Insight page

D.J. Moore

PositiveRole36:45

Moore is doing 'awesome stuff' in man-to-man coverage and the Panthers are running concepts where both he and Thielen are live; he's getting touches in the red zone and on third downs, including a designed red zone touchdown on a divide concept that beats quarters coverage.

Insight page

Darren Waller

PositiveRole13:00

Darren Waller has been a really tough guard in red zone looks for the Panthers, getting sprint looks in the end zone despite being 34 years old. He's still bigger than everybody else down there and provides value in goal-line situations alongside the elite receiver duo.

Insight page

David Njoku

NegativeInjury55:30

Njoku is currently injured; he was also noted for a poor play where he volleyball-set a ball into the air, contributing to the Chargers' execution problems before his injury status became a concern.

Insight page

Denzel Boston

NegativeRole45:42

Boston is being considered as a flex option by Matt Harmon, who is looking to deploy him in flex spots given the uncertainty in the Patriots' backfield and passing game. His role appears to be emerging as a potential outlet in a struggling offense.

Insight page
PositiveValue55:42

Matt Harmon is considering Denzel Boston as a flex option given the Patriots' backfield committee and passing game limitations; Boston represents a potential pivot point in a frustrating offense.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout63:33

Boston has impressed early in the NFL with training camp hype that has continued into the regular season; he's getting number one target routes and Deshaun Watson is throwing him back shoulder fades and end zone fades, showing the team wants to get him touches and routes; he's a player to be pleased with so far.

Insight page

Derek Carr

PositiveProjection39:41

Matt Harmon identifies Derek Carr as a quarterback-friendly play caller's ideal match. Carr has developed quick chemistry with receivers, particularly Chris Olave, and operates in Kellen Moore's high-volume, receiver-friendly system. Harmon expects Carr to continue launching the ball frequently over the middle and on quick routes, supporting sustainability in the Saints passing game.

Insight page

Drake Maye

PositiveProjection55:25

Drake May's scrambling rate is encouraging; Matt Harmon believes the film against the Steelers was better than perceived, and he remains a buy-low quarterback option despite early struggles against strong defenses.

Insight page

Eli Raridon

PositiveBreakout57:07

Eli Rariton is the only viable skill player in the Patriots offense outside of Drake May; Matt Harmon highlights him as a dynasty-league target with upside, though he has dealt with minor injuries.

Insight page

Gabe Nabers

NegativeRole55:15

Nabers ran routes at the wrong depth and took a bad break on a completion, exemplifying the Chargers' poorly coached receiver group; he also dropped a wide-open bootleg pass, contributing to the team's execution issues that are limiting offensive efficiency.

Insight page

Garrett Wilson

NegativeUsage60:57

Wilson is on the field for 90% of dropbacks for the Jets, making him the primary target; he has plenty of explosiveness and is the clear focal point of the offense, though the team is also developing secondary options like Corey Davis Mitchell to avoid making Wilson too easy to defend.

Insight page

Isaiah Williams

NegativeRole60:57

Williams is replacing Omar Cooper as the slot receiver for the Jets; he's described as a dirty work guy who helps draw attention away from Garrett Wilson on sale concepts and flood routes, helping open up the offense.

Insight page

Jalen Coker

PositiveBreakout5:18

Jalen Coker is a real deal high-end receiver who has emerged as a top-tier target in the Panthers offense; he's running 90% route participation, accounting for 27.3% of targets, and has nine first downs on 18 targets (50% conversion rate). He's already at 58 snaps on the outside, showing versatility beyond the slot. His burst metric (third in NFL at 9.37 mph off the line) and ability to win vertically with speed make him a legitimate top-24 NFL receiver right now, better than Marvin Harrison Jr. and Luther Burden in current production. He was cut after his first training camp and signed to the practice squad, making his emergence even more remarkable.

Insight page
PositiveValue44:18

Coker has one of the best contract extensions in the league, getting paid like a top-25 receiver while being undervalued in fantasy. Matt Harmon highlights his contract as exceptional value, comparing it favorably to Alan Lazard's deal from years ago, suggesting he's a bargain relative to his market rate.

Insight page

Jonathon Brooks

NegativeInjury6:00

Jonathan Brooks has been placed on IR and will not be part of the Panthers proceedings going forward, clearing the path for Chuba Hubbard to be the featured back.

Insight page

Jordyn Tyson

NegativeRole41:07

Jordan Tyson is expected to be ramped up in the Saints offense at an unknown timeline. Matt Harmon is curious whether Tyson will develop the same quick chemistry with Derek Carr that Carr has shown with Chris Olave and other receivers when he returns to action.

Insight page

Justin Herbert

NegativeRole55:15

Herbert bobbed and weaved to complete a touchdown pass on a poorly designed bootleg play that left elite pass rusher Max Crosby unblocked, a worst-case scenario against elite edge rushers; the Chargers' offensive design and execution issues are limiting his efficiency despite his individual playmaking ability.

Insight page

Kenny Yeboah

PositiveRole60:37

Yeboah is an explosive tight end option for the Jets who can be targeted depending on matchup; the team has a bevy of tight ends and can pivot their personnel to attack different defensive weaknesses.

Insight page

Kyle Williams

PositiveRole57:24

Kyle Williams received an in-breaker route instead of a go route in Week 2, which Matt Harmon views as encouraging and a sign of increased involvement in the Patriots' passing game.

Insight page

Kyren Williams

NegativeRole61:16

Williams is the lead back for the Rams but is in a two-series, one-series split with Blake Corum; he's susceptible to fumbles and getting banged up despite being a talented runner, which could open opportunities for Corum; he had a designer touchdown but could also lose carries if he fumbles again.

Insight page

Ladd McConkey

PositiveProjection59:09

McConkey is the Chargers' efficiency engine; when on field, they rank top-seven in EPA per play, but when off field they're bottom-two (better than only Falcons), making his health critical to the offense's fantasy viability; he's been incredibly efficient and is this year's potential Jackson Smith-Njigba type, a poor man's version of what JSN is to the Seahawks.

Insight page

Mason Taylor

PositiveRole60:37

Taylor is a nice inline tight end for the Jets who can do enough as a receiver; he's part of the team's diverse tight end arsenal that allows them to attack different defensive schemes.

Insight page

Mecole Hardman

NegativeRole25:29

Hardman is built for efficiency with intermediate and underneath routes in Tampa Bay's system rather than aggressive deep-ball opportunities; the offense is throwing a lot of screens to manage Baker Mayfield's decision-making issues.

Insight page
PositiveRole26:01

Hardman is in the exact role desired for him in Tampa Bay's offense: off-ball on 77% of snaps in Week 2, in the slot 40%, backfield 16%, and motion option; he is winning on big breaking routes and should be a beneficiary of the intermediate-focused passing system.

Insight page

Mike Evans

NegativeRole25:19

Evans is not walking through the door for Tampa Bay; the receiver group is built around intermediate, system-based efficiency rather than the YOLO deep-ball style that Evans represented, with Godwin and Mecole Hardman better suited to underneath and intermediate routes.

Insight page
PositiveUsage29:48

Mike Evans is the centerpiece of Baker Mayfield's efficiency; in 2023, they hammered him on out routes because Evans is bigger and dominant against man coverage, winning on all out routes. Baker loves throwing out routes to the field with space, and Evans' presence is critical to the offense's success, as evidenced by the dramatic efficiency drop when Evans is unavailable.

Insight page

Quentin Johnston

NegativeProjection60:00

Johnson hasn't had good games to start the season and is a supporting actor in the Chargers' offense; the team's efficiency is heavily dependent on McConkey's health, leaving Johnson as a secondary option without clear fantasy upside early in the year.

Insight page

Rhamondre Stevenson

NegativeUsage45:24

Stevenson is splitting carries with Trayveon Henderson and Deon Jackson in the Patriots' backfield, making it difficult to predict touch distribution. Matt Harmon, who owns some Stevenson shares, expresses frustration about the unpredictability of the Patriots' run game distribution, noting it's fantasy-frustrating despite some positive real-life football elements.

Insight page
NegativeUsage55:28

Carries are split between Stevenson and Henderson; Matt Harmon notes this creates fantasy frustration despite liking the real-football approach, making Stevenson less reliable as a fantasy asset in a committee backfield.

Insight page

Tony Pollard

NegativeProjection59:09

Pollard is projected as a running back 30-34 every week; he's splitting the backfield with Tajay Spears and Nick Singleton (who got 14% of touches in week two), making it difficult for him to be a viable flex option; the Titans offense isn't encouraging outside of Cam Ward's play.

Insight page

Travis Kelce

NegativeProjection43:48

Kelce is not playing up to his contract right now, despite the contract's size. Matt Harmon expresses concern about his current production level relative to his financial commitment, suggesting drafters who took him early are disappointed with his performance so far.

0:13We do a deep dive on those teams to tell you if it's sustainable or if it's a fluke.
0:18Can we continue to trust Bryce Young? Can we continue to trust these receivers?
0:22We also look on the negative side of things.
0:24The Bucs have been disappointed, the Patriots, the Chargers.
0:27Plus the two teams we got to talk about on Thursday Night Football, Packers, Falcons.
0:31Not fun watches. Their efficiency metrics are trending down.
0:33Can they get going? Will it improve over the course of the season?
0:37All that and more come up on today's show.
0:39Let's get into it. What's going on, everyone? I'm Matt Harmon.
0:42Welcome to the Yahoo Fantasy Forecast, and it is a hell of a day to talk ball.
0:47And joining me to do just that is our good friend, Nate Tice.
0:51Nate, what's going on, man? Not too much. You know, it's a football season.
0:54It's full swing when you got a potential stink fest on Thursday night, a potential schlock on Thursday night that I very much will enjoy.
1:01But I'm doing great. We're in the thick of things.
1:04Great to see you. Excited for the show, too, because we got some surprises to talk about.
1:09Yeah, we got some surprises to talk about. We do have a Thursday Night Football preview that will be at the very end of the show.
1:16Before we get into that, we're talking through some offenses that are trending up and some offenses that are trending down through
1:22the first two weeks of the season and whether those surprises, the positive surprises can sustain themselves and whether some of the
1:28teams on the other side of it can actually get it together.
1:31And let's hope they can, because there are a lot of players that me, you, all of us are counting on on
1:37our fantasy football lineups for this team to get it together.
1:40So we'll see if that can happen. Plus, we've got the first flex fit check.
1:44We've got some players that are on that flex radar, the borderline that we might see as potential plays here in week three.
1:51But without further ado, let's talk through some of the offenses that are trending up and trending down.
1:56We've got seven teams to talk about here, Nate, because actually two of the teams that are playing on Thursday Night Football
2:02are definitely offenses that are going in the wrong direction.
2:04So because of that, to skew a little positive here, we've got four teams that are trending up, three that are trending down.
2:11Our trending up teams are the Carolina Panthers, the New Orleans Saints and the Las Vegas Raiders, plus the New York Jets.
2:17I mean, these are teams that are looking a little bit better so far this year are trending down teams.
2:22Nobody will be surprised by this. It is the Los Angeles Chargers.
2:26It's the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
2:28I have a Frankenstein offensive efficiency score metric that I like to look at.
2:32It kind of combines a lot of the things that, you know, again, I'm like to kind of sort of check into from an offensive efficiency metric standpoint.
2:40Drop back EPA, rush EPA, points per drive, drives that end in a score, time of possession per drive, success rate and explosive play.
2:46I know you do the suplex, right? That's the success rate versus explosive play.
2:50The artist formerly known as sex. Yes, the artist formerly known as sex rate.
2:54I like to go just even further. Let's blend that pot all the way here.
2:58I think it does kind of pass the smell test when you look at it overall.
3:03But these are our biggest risers and fallers who have improved the most here.
3:07The Jets are our biggest riser from last year in the Frankenstein metric to this year.
3:11They're up 14 spots. They were 30th last year.
3:13They're 16th through two weeks. The Saints are 27th to 15th.
3:16The Chiefs are up, but, you know, come on.
3:19That's not that interesting to talk about. The Raiders, they're up nine spots, 31st to 22nd.
3:23The Panthers are up eight spots. The Titans went from one of the worst to just pretty bad, seven spots.
3:29The Ravens are also 13th to 6th. They're up seven spots.
3:32Our biggest fallers are the Patriots down 5th to 22nd.
3:35The Packers, as mentioned, 8th to 24th. The Falcons, 17th to 29th.
3:38We're talking about both those teams in Thursday night.
3:40The Colts are down. The Rams are down, but kind of the week one fluke, you know, we can throw that out.
3:46Then the Steelers just went from bad to abhorrent.
3:49And then the Chargers are down eight spots as well.
3:52So the Bucs are kind of a feel-based one to be included here.
3:55But that's sort of the state of things, Nate, as we come into week three.
3:59These are the teams that are moving up and moving down in offensive efficiency.
4:03Yeah, and always that small sample size caveat. But there's also some of that's why I like looking at stats.
4:09And I do my suplex thing, too, and try to parse it with early downs.
4:13And usually try to wait till about four weeks in.
4:16But still, there's some eye tests that matches with a lot of these.
4:19Especially some of the surprising ones in a good way.
4:22But also some of the followers, too. But actually, there's a couple I want to parse apart.
4:26That's what's going to be fun about these. Like, even that Rams ranking, it's like there's actually some really encouraging underlying stats.
4:33And, yeah, on the other side with the Chargers.
4:35Especially the Chargers. Especially. They're banned on my show, on Football 301, our show.
4:39But, you know. But not on this show. Yeah, yeah.
4:42I gave them the Jaguars ban. They get the ban.
4:44Yeah, yeah. And then, yeah. Yeah. Drop that in week two.
4:47I didn't know this. Yes, I know. Week two ban?
4:50We're already banning the Chargers in week two? I love it.
4:53Drop that hammer on them. Oh, man. I couldn't help myself.
4:56Even yesterday's show, I already broke the ban. I was like, all right, Steve.
5:00All right, Steve. I was just like, all right, Steve.
5:03We'll just talk about it. You have the floor because I have a ban on them.
5:07And then I spent five minutes just ragging them.
5:10So, you know, I still cheated my own little ban there.
5:13But, you know, it's all about cutting corners sometimes.
5:15Yeah. Look, he's just warming you up to bag on him here on this show as well.
5:20So let's get into some of these individual teams.
5:22Yeah. Nate, you and I are actually going to be doing ecosystem check-ins every four weeks here on this show.
5:28So after week four, we'll do more of a big picture, like here's the state of play.
5:32But we're just kind of looking early signals in the small sample size, as you mentioned.
5:37But let's start off positive and let's go to the NFC South here for the Carolina Panthers.
5:41As mentioned, things are definitely trending up for the Panthers.
5:44They right now are 14th in my offensive Frankenstein metric.
5:47We've been seeing some really good things out of the passing game specifically.
5:51Of course, Jalen Coker, Bryce Young is fantasy's quarterback two through two weeks.
5:54I definitely did not have that on my radar.
5:57What have you seen so far in Carolina? Also keeping in mind that Jonathan Brooks has been placed on IR.
6:02He's not going to be part of the proceedings going forward.
6:05Big receivers are big, whether it's Tedder McMillan and Jalen Coker.
6:08Let's launch them up. But I will say Bryce Young has really been pushing the football.
6:13They've had a lot of aggressive concepts. There is a little bit of the caveat.
6:17They had the Bears offense in week one, which I think it will be more of you can run on that.
6:22I'm sorry, Bears defense. You can run on that Bears defense more.
6:26Passing-wise, they're still not great. But really, running on them is going to be the weakness.
6:30So that will be something to keep an eye on, too, if you need a little get-right game for one of your
6:36fantasy backs going against that Bears defense. And then the Falcons are just, we'll talk about later, are just a zombie team.
6:42They have already started the arch to the sea.
6:45And when I look at those, I look at those performances.
6:48So there is a little bit of that caveat.
6:50But having said that, I just like some of the things they're doing, their use of personnel, formation-wise.
6:55Even stuff like mini stuff, and this is not really fantasy-relevant, is like getting in short yardage, getting in the jumbo, and
7:01using some interesting motion to push in short yardage as opposed to just a QB sneak.
7:06Because he can't do that with Bryce Young. So there's just been some thoughtfulness.
7:09On my suplex rate, they're 14th overall, just above board.
7:12But that kind of just shows that they're getting some nice efficiency.
7:15They're also kind of getting some big pop plays as well.
7:18I think the explosiveness of this offense has really stood out to me.
7:22Yeah, the explosiveness is definitely there. I mean, again, we've talked about a lot on this show.
7:27But the move from Dave Canales to give up a play calling to Brad Idzik, reportedly that was all about it.
7:32And I know you and I have talked about this.
7:35There was reportedly all about Brad and Bryce really had a good relationship and a good dynamic.
7:40And that obviously freed up Dave to do other things within the team.
7:43But it certainly feels like so far they've had a better pulse on what Bryce wants to do.
7:48Because despite the fact that he's not the most physically gifted quarterback in the league, to put it kindly, he does want to push the ball.
7:56And he does have an aggressive mentality when the looks are there.
7:59But I think you kind of got to give him the right look so far that has been there.
8:04Their motion, you mentioned this, is up from 25th to 9th so far this season.
8:08Just rate of motion overall. They've done some cool stuff in the running game with that motion.
8:13I'm like Chuba Hubbard actually. I mean Chuba Hubbard is going to go down as one of the best picks in fantasy right now.
8:19I mean he was someone that – Yeah, like it was easy to get caught up.
8:24I just thought. I know. It was so easy to get caught up.
8:27And I'm sure we did in the summer of Jonathan Brooks.
8:30What's the mystery box going to be? And then of course Chuba Hubbard misses time with a hamstring injury.
8:36But man, he's been rock solid so far for this team.
8:39And he's been really useful as a receiver. They brought in Austin Eckler for a workout this week.
8:44He's not going to sign today at least was the report from Mike Kay who covers the team.
8:49This is the Chuba Hubbard show right now. And I think it's going to remain that way.
8:53The run game has been still very – You and I gushed about the run game.
8:58What was that? Last year we had like 20-minute segment on the run game.
9:02Still looks really good and really interesting. And Chuba Hubbard is just out there executing too.
9:06Yeah. And now we just – yeah. We were talking about the run game right now.
9:10But what's been encouraging is that it's not so reliant on it when they get into obvious passing downs.
9:16They are staying aggressive, which I really like. You know, it's not just like, ah, throw a screen and we're done.
9:21But even on early downs, no team has more explosive reception so far on early downs, first and second down, than the Panthers.
9:28They have 11. And that leads the NFL. The Bills have 10 on early downs.
9:32So those early – and this is outside two minutes too.
9:35So this is just – this is just early down launches.
9:38It's play action launches. And again, you're not going to play the Falcons every week who are a zombie team.
9:43You're not going to play the Bears defense every week who are just – their defense isn't great.
9:48But if you look, the next couple weeks isn't that tough for the Panthers.
9:52You know, they get the Browns defense next week.
9:55So – and then it picks up after that.
9:57I think they have the Eagles. They got a couple tougher defenses there.
10:01But I mean – They have the week five – they have the week five bye.
10:05They play the Lions before the bye. So that's going to be a carnival game.
10:09And then they go Eagles, Bucs, Packers, Broncos, Saints, Ravens through week 11.
10:13So – and then, I mean, Packers defense is playing well.
10:16It's more against the run. But again, it's actually going against the Packers defense, which we'll talk about, is more gash or be gashed.
10:22Actually, their offense and defense are going to be kind of the same.
10:26I actually like it because they're – Jonathan Gann is blitzing so much.
10:29But I mean, all those NFC South defenses, like all those matchups, they're going to be juicy.
10:34Because it's not like the Bucs defense is playing well.
10:37And again, it's aggressive. So when you're pushing the ball like this, there's going to be mistakes.
10:42There's going to be misses. But that's the offense you want with Tetrault, McMillan, and Jalen Coker who are just studs.
10:47Like that's what – it's outright. There's no caveat to it.
10:50These are two really good receivers. I'm glad the Coker – like it's kind of cool.
10:55Like it doesn't matter. One is not getting the ball.
10:57The other is getting the ball. And it's not just like little gimmies and cheapies.
11:02It's a lot of downfield, juicy, juicy receptions. And we talk about opportunities, whether that's carries in the red zone or inside
11:08the 10-yard line, whether that's throws to the end zones.
11:10These routes are going to lead to big plays every single week.
11:14There's going to be a lot of these 10- to 20-yard chunks in this offense.
11:18Might have some naders. Might hit some troughs in it because of being that aggressive play style, especially if the run game
11:24is going to be more average-ish, below average. The whole line is still kind of sorting out in the run game.
11:30But they're trying. And they don't do away with it.
11:32They don't repeat play calls in a bad way as far as like, hey, we're running this again because it sucked last time.
11:39Let's run it again. Repeating the right play calls, which again, those are encouraging signs.
11:43So, again, I think there is some of that what defenses they're going against, but they're not playing a ton of great
11:49defenses outside of like that Eagles game. The lines are very gettable.
11:52The Bucs are gettable. The Packers are interesting, but they are gettable.
11:55But then we get into Broncos. But even like Ravens defense, that's gettable.
11:59So it's like there's a lot of opportunity here where they're just going to be at least the floor is higher with some pop games.
12:06Maybe not as much the Falcons, but enough that they can keep going and rolling.
12:10Yeah. And I mean, these receivers that you point out, I love the way you phrase this is these like big, juicy routes.
12:16Yes. It's all the stuff that I feel like you and I talk about all the time, the routes that we like to see receivers runs.
12:23These guys are perfect on those and they complement each other so well.
12:27There are, I believe, four teams right now with two wide receivers in the top 18 in terms of route participation, like
12:33how often they've been on the field relative to dropbacks.
12:36Again, 18 receivers are over 90%. One is the Minnesota Vikings, Jefferson and Addison.
12:40Two is the Detroit Lions, St. Brown and Jamison Williams.
12:42Three is Chris Olave and Devon Vele. And then we're going to talk about those guys in a second too.
12:48Yeah. And then four is the Carolina Panthers. Jalen Coker is 90%.
12:51Tedder McMillan is 91.5%. Nobody else on the team has run around on more than 65% of the dropbacks.
12:56Like this, these are their guys. They have like the other personnel groupings with the, with the tight ends where, you know,
13:02they'll get obviously like Darren Waller in the red zone.
13:05They did some cool stuff in week two where it's like Darren Waller is kind of isolated and he's just still 34 years old, whatever.
13:12He's still bigger than everybody else down there. And then they have like Tommy Tremble, Mitchell Evans.
13:17So all these guys kind of rotate in the orbit, but it's these two guys who have accounted for 27.3 and 27.3% of the targets.
13:24Like these are, these two guys are splitting the pie.
13:26Half of them is just, is going to these two receivers.
13:29And Nate, like, I mean, I think these two guys are both 20 top 24 real life NFL receivers right now.
13:35I mean, I got some pushback on Twitter. I said like, well, like Jalen Coker right now is better than Marvin Harrison and he's better than Luther burden.
13:43And people were like, wait, I was like, dude, he's better than both those guys right now.
13:48I don't care where he's drafted. Like he's, he's better.
13:50He might be better than Tedder McMillan. And that's not a shot to McMillan.
13:54Tedder McMillan's awesome. Um, I, like from a dynasty standpoint, I need to move like, but I mean, certainly I was already ahead of market on Coker.
14:02I need to get even more ahead of market on Coker because I don't, again, we'll talk about the Bryce Young sustainability.
14:08That'll be how we close this discussion. But these two receivers are going to make basically anybody's life easy right now.
14:13Yep. And if you look like, I mean, just like pulling up their target charts right now and like Tedder McMillan has
14:19three catches where he caught the ball 20 yards or further, you know, the 20 more air yards, he has three catches
14:25of five or under, and he has three of 20 or more.
14:29So again, those are the juicy ones. And he can come down with a fade balls, corners, digs, and in breakers that can lead to yak.
14:36Haven't gotten that as much going. There's one so far, but those outside ones where all these teams are playing cloud, all
14:42these teams are, there's opportunity for those. And then, yeah, I agree with Coker.
14:46Coker already has nine first downs on 18 targets, like 50%, 50% of his targets have turned into a first down.
14:52His is all over. Like he gets it everywhere.
14:54And that is what everything we wanted to see.
14:56We noticed that he was in the slot, but now they're working them on the outside, which opens up opportunities for Tetrault,
15:03which opens up opportunities when they have matchup advantages.
15:05Yeah. It's, there's not a lot of teams because these guys are obviously going to be good against zone because they're so
15:11big, but there's not a lot of teams that just have the size to handle both of them.
15:16And like, yeah, I'm glad you mentioned Darren Waller because they're sprint going them in and that he's given two weeks.
15:22He's been like a really tough guard, especially in those red zone looks.
15:25So yeah, it's, I don't know how high it's going to get, but like, like right here is like, I feel safe in saying like that.
15:32This is that very least above average passing game that can be really explosive and we'll see how the run game gets.
15:39They have, you know, working parts there. Monroe feeling the first round pick looks solid so far.
15:43Definitely looks like a hit. And, you know, again, they haven't gone against great players yet, but it's just one of these where I'm just really, really encouraged.
15:51It's, I mean, right now I'm even looking, Jalen Coker has 58 snaps, I think on the outside so far already.
15:57Like that, that's just like, that's so encouraging to what his role can be.
16:00So yeah, very excited about these guys dynasty, but just even redraft.
16:04I think this would be very alive. What was the stat that you had the other day?
16:08I think I responded to where it's like the drive off the ball that Chris Olave was one and Coker was three.
16:14Yeah. Yeah. Can you talk about that? So burst it.
16:17Yeah. Burst. I just came across it because I was looking up a speed stuff on next gen stats.
16:22So they have a, they have a stat called burst.
16:25So it is the miles per hour, average miles per hour.
16:28The receiver gets within the first second of a, of their route when they're not on speed motion.
16:33So they wipe those out. So it's just true stemming and going on your routes.
16:37And number one, easily, by the way, easily. Number one was Chris Olave.
16:41No one is even close to Chris Olave, which if you watch Chris Olave run routes, that's yeah.
16:46Yeah. But like 9.39, he was the only one above nine, you know, cause Alec Pierce is in second, which shocks nobody actually Alec Pierce too.
16:53I was going to, it sucks. I, you know, he's hurt, but I actually came across the stat.
16:58I think he has more routes where he hits 20 miles an hour or more than anybody else since he's earned the lead freak as far as right.
17:06Yeah. He can roll like literally probably maybe the fastest long speed guy in the league.
17:10And then Jalen Coker, which you wouldn't expect with Coker.
17:13Cause you think Coker is brawny, big target, but no, he has some heat to him.
17:17That's why some of these highlights are go balls.
17:20Cause there's not just go balls where he's going up and getting it.
17:23It's go balls where he's winning, like just stacking on top of the corner.
17:27And how is this dude on draft? They cut him after his first training, they cut him and signed up practice squad.
17:33And this guy is like you mentioned, I was going to say the same thing.
17:37I was like, I just arbitrary top 30 guy.
17:40This guy's a real deal high end too. And like can do a lot.
17:44It's, it's awesome. Like, it's really cool watching his development and just becoming a, a real boy, like a real dude at receiver.
17:50It's really cool. Yeah. I mean, and the crazy thing too is obviously went to Holy cross and the whole deal, you
17:56know, this, that, and the other, but I mean, he was a freak athlete from a, like a testing perspective, 98th percentile vertical jump, 85th percentile broad jump.
18:04So like the, the explosion metrics were there for him.
18:06He just 27th percentile 40 yard dash, but yeah, it's because he gets, I think watching him that the burst staff from
18:12next gen stats, as you highlighted really does match the eye test because he can get into those routes so quickly that
18:18like he had a better success rate verse press, uh, in his season last year than Ted or McMillan did.
18:24Cause like, I think McMillan's more smoother off the line is like, that's a terrible way of saying he's much more smooth off the line of scrimmage.
18:31He's harder to like get hands on in that way.
18:34He's got a wider base, which makes him tough to press.
18:37Cause he can get into the routes that way, but like Coker just rips into it, uh, off the line.
18:43And that makes him a very difficult receiver to jam.
18:45And then he stacks those guys really well. We saw that all throughout the end of last season.
18:50Keep you continue to see it now. I mean, yeah, as a rookie, he reminded me of Jacoby Myers and then like
18:56year two, he reminded me more of like Chris Godwin.
18:59And now it's just like, I mean, it just keeps building up for Coker.
19:03So it really is. I mean, it's just, it's so, so beyond, uh, real.
19:07And I mean, Chris Godwin was another guy when he came into the league too, you know, like 20, 90 third percentile, uh, in the 20 yard shuttle.
19:14Like he had a lot of explosion to his game as well when he was a younger player.
19:19So yeah, I mean, Coker's real Ted or McMillan's real.
19:22Um, I guess we can't really close the loop on the Panther thing without at least saying like, how real do you
19:28think the Bryce young, uh, part of all of this is like, where are you at with Bryce?
19:33How has your evaluation kind of changed on him through two weeks or has it, has it not?
19:38Is it more of the system? Um, it it's not really changed overall.
19:42I still think there's a lot of where he is bailing pockets a little earlier than I want to see.
19:47But the thing is, is he's offsetting it now and not just like pressure.
19:51Oh, I'm throwing underneath, which is always my like least favorite attribute with some quarterbacks.
19:55It's like, as soon as they get pressure, move off the point, their eyes go down and they don't launch it.
20:01Now I feel like it's not just go balls.
20:03There's other, I mean, the big, uh, post Xavier Leggett.
20:06So there's enough that it's offsetting maybe down to down inefficiency.
20:09You know, it's more just like, Hey, offset it with some explosives.
20:12So I like the aggression. And also I just do think that his, when he does kind of get into the scramble
20:18drill, which again, I think he does a little too much.
20:21They aren't leading to negative plays where he's just, or I would say just nothing place.
20:26He was, I think he was one of the highest like throwaway rates.
20:29Now these are kind of, he's turning more balls in play.
20:32I think maybe that's my best way to say it.
20:35There's more confidence in what he's seeing. So again, I have to see it against some better defenses, but this is everything you want to see.
20:42Like, I'm very encouraged off the Rams games. And then these games, it's like, Hey, stay aggressive, push the ball.
20:48And I just think, you know, he's going to always have some limitations, but if he's willing to do this at least
20:54enough, then it's a lot more viability than what I considered last year.
20:57But again, it's, I got to see it. I guess a little, some better teams.
21:02We're not, it might not be the Browns, but maybe that Eagles game is going to be a great test.
21:07Cause that the whole point of the Eagles defense or to Vic Fangio is limited explosives.
21:11So that that's going to be, I think once I go there, then I'll, can I kind of know a little bit
21:18more of how I feel in 2026 with him?
21:20Yeah, they can just, can they be a team that matriculates the ball down the field?
21:24I think that will be a big test. I think you think they have the players to do it.
21:30Can young, can young kind of play the guitar in that way?
21:33Well, we'll find out. I mean, I, I mean, I just think like he's a guy who does look like he's a
21:39little bit more confident and just like this happens with guys when they at least get enough reps in the league.
21:45I think he's a little bit better about, you know, IDing the right place to go with the football where it was
21:51really a mess from, and that's again, just experience in the league.
21:54I think there will always be a cap on who he is, but right now he's clearing the bar of like, this
22:00guy can start and be good in the NFL with good surroundings around him.
22:04And there's no question there's good surroundings here. So I think we're, we're, we're generally buying this trend up for the Panthers
22:10like 14th and offensive efficiency here, even though it has been two great spots.
22:14That feels, that feels pretty right to me. They can be hovering around there.
22:18Let's go to another NFC South team and a team that's trending down again.
22:22The bucks are, are trending down. I think because it's been so disappointing from a metric standpoint, they actually aren't really all
22:28that different from where they were last year right now in the efficiency metrics.
22:31They're 16th or their 18th last year, they were 16th.
22:34So it's actually just down. It's actually pretty much the same, but they are one of these teams, Nate, that has a massive gap in their EPA.
22:42They are, their culture, the only team that has a bigger gap between their rushing EPA and their drop back EPA, because
22:48the bucks are sixth and rushing EPA. They're 30th in drop back EPA.
22:51Their passing game has been a mess. So has their defense, by the way.
22:55I would actually argue that their defense irritates me more than their offense.
22:59So let's, let's actually put a, let's actually put a pin in that and come back to it in a second.
23:04But offensively, I'm going to ask you just an unfair question.
23:07Is this all Baker Mayfield's fault? Cause I've watched both of these games.
23:11Why? Okay. Cause I've watched both of these games and I've watched them back live on film and I kind of feel like it's Baker Mayfield's fault.
23:18He's got to chill out. He already got paid.
23:21Just chill out. Like that's, I keep saying it.
23:23It's like, he is just totally like, I would say in his own head, but he's trying to get everything back.
23:29If he makes a mistake, like honestly, they should be running the ball 35 times just to chill them out.
23:35Like, I believe, I think this run game is going to be good.
23:38Like right. Even right now where it doesn't feel right.
23:41Like I actually do think the run games got like a more meat on the bone, but I think they can chew that meat off.
23:48I don't know. I'm trying to think of analogy here.
23:51But no, like Bucky Irving, like is going to be a real, very viable running back and like one that I'm like, I knew this up fricking preseason.
23:58I didn't get any shares on him in any redraft league because I just, all these other guys, these other siren songs were right there.
24:05They're usually in that little area. And I was like, oh yeah, I want to go with that.
24:10It's like, just follow Bucky Irving. He was supposed to be my flex and like ride him to glory and flex this
24:16entire, as my flex guy this entire year. And I just didn't listen to myself.
24:20But anyways, that's real. The run game is real.
24:23Or at least right now, like they're 17th rushing success rate on early downs and they are, what are they?
24:2814th and explosive rushes. And I think there's going to, they're going to end up more top 10.
24:33I really do in that, that category, but the passing game's got to, it can't be as volatile as this because it's
24:39just, I mean, it's just like bad decisions. It's turnovers.
24:42And again, you're not going to lose every fumble like that, like he did against the bangles, but don't, the process led to that bad luck.
24:49You know, there's sometimes you create your own luck.
24:52Like I always think Josh Allen creates his own luck.
24:54Mahomes creates his own luck. Like, like I think Baker, he was creating his own bad luck with just bad decisions and then compounding it.
25:01You know, even just like stuff that he's 30th and like sack EPA loss per drop back.
25:06So it's just like, so the sacks are terrible, but he's first in area yards per attempt on early downs.
25:11So it's like, what does that tell you? He's trying to get it all back.
25:15Like he's trying to like try things and it's aimless throws though.
25:19It's not like Mike Evans isn't there. Mike Evans isn't walking through that door.
25:23The, your receivers are more the kind of like, there should be Panthers.
25:26More intermediate guys, more in the system guys, as opposed to YOLO.
25:29Michael come down with it. Godwin and Mecca Buka aren't built that way.
25:33They are built for efficiency with the intermediate stuff underneath stuff.
25:36And right now they're really throwing a lot of screens in there.
25:39Like in the bangles game, they try to chill them out, throw a lot of screens, but I don't know.
25:45We gotta, we gotta find, they have to find a balance with this passing game.
25:49And it's really been discouraging because I, you know, like he, I really do think he's just making a ton of mistakes and not making the throws.
25:56Right. Yeah. Just to close the loop on Bucky Irving first there, cause it's the more pleasant conversation.
26:0177% of the running back touches like Sean Tucker, not a thing.
26:05Kenny gain. Well, nothing like nothing burger, just a little, just a little role play.
26:09Yeah. A little, little seasoning salt on the top.
26:11That's 12th at the running back position. The running back touch share for Bucky Irving.
26:15He's the guy, the run game is good. Like big time hit as a running back to bare minimum Bucky Irving.
26:21That part of the offense looks good. You, I think because I charted a Mecca Buka last night for week two.
26:27And I think you, you basically bar for bar nailed exactly what you just said about this bucks team where like Baker,
26:33when he comes back from the two minute drill, which in fairness was like three hours long because I was going to
26:39say two hour, two hour pause in between the two minute drill.
26:42Yeah. Which is this crazy. Uh, he's like trying to force the ball into tight windows to Ted Hurst.
26:47Who's like theoretically the Mike Evans replacement in the office.
26:50Ted Hurst is a rookie receiver out of Georgia state Baker.
26:53What are we doing? Come on. Like, no, you're no, your guys know what's going on here.
26:58A book is in the exact role that we would have wanted for him.
27:02He's off ball on 77% of his snaps in week two.
27:05He's in the slot 40% backfield. 16% is a motion option.
27:08Like, and he's winning on these big breaking routes.
27:10It's just like, you need to stand in there and deliver it, but like not the go balls, tight coverage stuff that you're talking about.
27:17Like feel the flow of the offense, man. And it's to me, I don't think the, I don't watch this team be
27:23like, this design is stupid or whatever. They've got to like push the screen button.
27:27You're right to just chill their $50 million quarterback out.
27:30But the, I know that part's tough, but just, is it, is it also as simple as this is Baker?
27:36I mean, he's always going to be about the 15th best quarterback in the NFL, but he's never the 15th best quarterback in the NFL.
27:42It's always like, he's either the 25th or the fifth and there's really no in between and right now or at the bottom end.
27:49That's it. That's what it is. His lows are lows and his highs are, and that's the thing.
27:54He's never going to change. He's 30 something. He's gotten paid now.
27:57And this is what his competitiveness is. What makes him have his highs.
28:01And so you want to channel it. So that's the thing.
28:04I think they're just trying to figure out how to channel it.
28:07Um, and right now, yeah, it's like even the last play that he missed.
28:11I think that was a four. Yeah. Obviously it was a fourth down.
28:15That was actually the right proper route. It was a book on the target.
28:18I believe it was post. He just misses the throw.
28:21Like that's it's open. It's a right call. It's a red zone call.
28:25It was, he just misses the throw. And again, if I'm paying you fifth, if he was just getting his 30 something million, whatever.
28:31Okay. I'd be a little more lenient. You are now eating up this much of the cap.
28:36You're getting this page much money. You have to hit those stars.
28:39That's why you get paid plus million. So that's why I'm a little harsher on him than maybe I've been in the past.
28:46And so I brought this up on our division preview show on the NFC South.
28:50Um, it was that I talked about with and without Mike Evans.
28:53And I kind of got yelled at the right.
28:56Well, there's other variables with those. There's a big sample size now with Mike Evans.
29:00He averaged 6.6 yards per drop back, or I'm sorry, 7.3 yards per drop back without a 6.6.
29:05Okay. 37 quarterbacks. Baker got with the box. He was eighth in that category.
29:0822nd when he doesn't have Mike Evans and success rate terms.
29:11So successful or successful per play. Cause that's like including the wrong game and everything.
29:16He's six with Mike Evans. That's about the same as Dak Prescott.
29:19And then without him 36th, I mentioned 37 quarterbacks.
29:21So he goes from six to 36th in successful, successful throws per play.
29:25So that right there, that's the stat where it's like, there's no efficiency.
29:28I mean, look at this. There's so many empty forays on that throw and a whole bunch of screens.
29:34And it's just, yeah, it's, it's a very, it was more.
29:37That's the thing. Yeah. Sorry. Sorry. The chart is perfect.
29:39And what you're saying is the Mike Evans part of this.
29:43I remember in 2023 when Mike and Baker had that great year together.
29:46The first one, they were just like hammering him on out routes.
29:49Cause Mike Evans is bigger and he's awesome against man coverage.
29:52And he's winning on all these out routes. And Baker loves to throw those out routes, especially to the field.
29:58Like when it's, when there's a lot of space and you're seeing that here.
30:02When like Sterling Shepard is, yeah. Sterling Shepard, the out route.
30:05We've talked about this. And by the way, a few of the throws that happened in a week two were just Emeka
30:11Buka and him were locked in on the out routes, but then like he is just not pulling the trigger on these
30:17throws over the middle of the field. And if you're looking at this passing chart with us on YouTube, if you're watching
30:23on audio or you're listening on audio, the middle of the field is just bereft of any real deal targets here.
30:29And I'm telling you watching on tape, that's where the routes are going, especially with the guy who's supposed to be the
30:35primary receiver in the progression, who's not getting targeted on nearly enough routes at this standpoint.
30:39And that's where you want to book in Godwin to work.
30:42They're big burly receivers that can do that. They're tough receivers that can handle it.
30:46Even, but even like, or, and maybe he gets shied away like week one against the bangles.
30:51Cause there's gonna be a, you could really target tight ends and slots against the bangles defense.
30:56That's going to be something I'm going to be on keying on this year.
30:59He tries to hit Kate Otten and Kate Otten drops it.
31:02Or he's just like a little low, but he drops it.
31:05But then he like never did it again that game.
31:08Like it was like, nah, I'm good. I tried.
31:11I tried guys. I couldn't hit it. I also did note the target here on this target map that is perfectly dead center.
31:17Uh, at that seven, seven yards below the line of scrimmage.
31:20I did think that was humorous. That was like, you can do that more dead center.
31:24I don't know. I thought that was funny. Cause I looked at the Sunday night.
31:29So I, I did note that, um, like that I, no one could ever put that more dead center than he did on that one target.
31:36That's seven yards behind the line of scrimmage. But this is, there's those intermediate routes, those in breakers watch the Seahawks game
31:42last year when Baker was getting the weird MVP hype against the Seahawks, um, after the first month, but that Seahawks game,
31:48it was big in breakers, big in breakers that he was ripping.
31:51And whether that's confidence or not with confidence in his guys, he was thrown to the same guys.
31:56He was throwing a little book and I think other guys were banged up.
32:00So that's the thing is like, I don't know.
32:02It's the old lines playing better. The run game is going to, is there.
32:06It's at the very least, I think even right now, early down rushing suplex, I think they're they're 14th.
32:11And again, I think they'll climb to top 10 cause they're right below it.
32:15Um, but I do think that, yeah, the passing games got just be more viable outside just screens.
32:20Yeah. And I think if we're talking about like, is this sustainable or not?
32:24Like, can it get better for the bad teams?
32:27Maybe not this week against Minnesota. Although, you know, there, there will be some spots to pick on.
32:31It's kind of a, that's definitely a gash or be gash, but you, they've been gashing so far, uh, this season.
32:37Maybe it won't be this week, but Packers, Cowboys, Steelers, Panthers, uh, Falcons, bears before a week 10 by like there.
32:43I actually think we will get some good Baker games and that will be good at Buka games.
32:48But for the most part, like it's going to be a rocky ride with Baker playing this way right now.
32:53There's no question about that real quick before we move on to the saints.
32:57And I do mean real quick. Like this bucks defense is such a joke.
33:01It's, it's so frustrating to watch. I can't, I can't believe how bad, I can't believe how bad it is.
33:07Like the linebackers are a mess. They, the tackling is terrible.
33:10It's the softest coverage you've ever seen in your entire life to the point that Sean Watson can have the best game since he's, since the fricking pandemic.
33:17Like it's, it's unbelievable. Uh, I, I think just the takeaway there for me, I'm curious if you have any other thoughts
33:23is just start players against this bucks defense. Cause yeah.
33:26Oh my God. Uh, there's going to be some open windows of your quarterback and find them.
33:31Yeah. You might be in for a good time.
33:33It's, uh, I mean, yeah, no, that's how I feel about him too.
33:37And that was just surprising to me because I was like, they got healthy Ruben Bain, Ruben Bain might be banged up.
33:43I got really watched, but he's not providing any of the juice that I thought.
33:47Um, but even like they, they're not that great against the run.
33:50Like you, like, which it should be a strength of Vita Veya out there.
33:54And that's kind of always their thing where you can't run on them.
33:58So you have to pass and then you have to pass and they're going to blitz you, blitz you like crazy.
34:04That's the formula that they want to get into.
34:06But if they can't stop the run and you're gashing them in the past game, what does you say you do here?
34:12Todd Bowles? Like, and what do you say you do here?
34:15I thought Alex Anzalone is all over the place in a bad way.
34:19Uh, Trotter has had moments. He had the pick six early, but he looks scattered.
34:23And I thought of him as a smart player coming out of Mizzou.
34:26So, um, and even on the backend, like you, there's time.
34:29I mean, uh, Morrison's played decently, uh, and they still have Winfield and everything, but like Denzel Boston got Morrison a couple of times.
34:36Um, that might just be Denzel Boston. Yeah. That just might be my guy, our guy.
34:40Um, so that's one of those things too. But yeah, I, this is definitely a target defense.
34:45I think maybe it's the best way to put it.
34:48Like you can attack this defense and you know, who likes to launch it?
34:52Kyler Murray with Justin Jefferson. Kyler Murray's coming back this week.
34:55So this might be, if you get Kyler back off the waiver wire, like this might be a fun week for it.
35:01Right. Uh, when he comes back, did you, I know I need, I need him one of the leaks.
35:06I think he's still available for me. It's CJ Stroud or Kyler for me.
35:10So I might go with Kyler. Oh, I'm debating between, uh, in the analyst league.
35:14I'm debating between, uh, Justin Herbert, who I've started for two weeks and I'm still somehow to an O or, uh, Kyler Murray.
35:20Uh, so we'll, we'll be kicking that one around until Sunday, but yeah, it's a really good spot for Kyler.
35:26So I'm considering making the change there. Uh, let's take the NFC South for our next trending up team, the new Orleans saints.
35:32Uh, and listen, Nate, we gotta, I think we gotta pat ourselves on the back a little bit for this one, because
35:38we've been talking about the saints since the damn combine and how this was going to be an interesting team only two
35:44weeks, but they're up from 27th in offensive efficiency to 15th.
35:47Um, some little worries here specifically left tackle. Kelvin banks is going to, he has to had surgery for a high ankle.
35:53So that is, you always say high ankle sprain is a six week injury.
35:57That's going to be longer than a six week injury on that particular high.
36:01Eight weeks. That might have been a long time.
36:03Um, but I mean, other than that, outside of the backfield, which has been a mess for fantasy, this passing game has
36:09been, you know, outside of a rough first quarter for Tyler Shuck in the first game of the season, they've been pretty much cooking.
36:16I really love what I've seen from this team.
36:18Yep. Uh, great designs. They get in the red zone.
36:21They have great designs. Juwan Johnson is like start every week because Shuck likes them.
36:25Um, Shuck will find check downs a little too frequently until he, until he's forced out of it.
36:30Uh, but that's actually a good thing for Juwan Johnson and everything.
36:34But Olave, and I know you love Olave. I love Olave.
36:37Olave looks like all pro caliber this year. Oh yeah.
36:39Um, he's practically unguardable. Like he, he's unguardable. Like it's, we're getting to that point with him, not just against zone.
36:45It's like, you can't battle against him in man to man.
36:48Um, like it's, he's doing some awesome stuff. And then, but the complimentary parts are really working.
36:53Vele is also like very viable and him and Shuck have great chemistry.
36:56And there's a lot of concepts where both of them are live.
37:00So I think a lot of it will get a lot of touches in the red zone and those third downs where
37:06it's like, I mean, they, there was a missed pick play.
37:09They try to run on third down to him that would have scored if a shock was protected.
37:14Um, and then like the red zone touchdown to him was a brilliant design.
37:17It's called a divide concept that it's really in vogue right now because of what coverages teams run in a lot of quarters in the red zone.
37:25It's a great quarters beater. But again, they're pressing the right buttons at the right time.
37:29Early downs have been a little worrisome because the run game stinks.
37:33And they, it's, it's, it's really bad right now.
37:35Yeah. Like what's going on there? It's been like, okay.
37:38H and Travis, H and just looks rough. If I'm being honest, like it's, he doesn't, he's not seeing it at all.
37:44Um, Flaga has kind of taken a step back in a run game, but he looks good in past game, which is
37:50backwards of what I thought he would be banks.
37:52Banks was actually looking good, but now he has a high ankle sprain.
37:56The interior, they're kind of getting pushed back. They're susceptible to kind of strength.
38:00So there's just been, they're losing a lot of ground in the run game.
38:04I don't think that's going to be the strength of this team, which I actually thought would could maybe turn into one,
38:10but that might mean they just start going super pass heavy.
38:13That might just be more screens. They're trying to actually get Chuck on some design runs, which I'm indifferent on.
38:18I was trying to say, I'm indifferent. I'm a little low on them because I'm just kind of like, not, not my favorite plane to build.
38:25Um, but they do it enough, but there's, there's some real stuff here.
38:29Like they're explosive in the passing game. Chuck's willing to chuck it.
38:32Chuck's also doing some creation stuff, um, which is makes third downs viable.
38:36They made a little too much of a living on third down and fourth down so far this year.
38:41I want to see the early down passing game pickup, but I think they're going to turn up the dial in the passing game.
38:48Scott, we, we both know this, but Scott Linahan's on that staff.
38:51Kel Moore's on the staff. They, Scott Linahan coached Matthew Stafford when he set the record for pass attempts in a season.
38:57He has no qualms with what, what's chucking it.
38:59I know he's not the OC or anything like that.
39:02So like you see that, that scatter chart that, and that's 34 pass attempts, you know, last week we might get some 40 plus games.
39:09Like they, I think this is going to turn into a more, a way more pass heavy offense as the season goes along.
39:15And I encourage it. I really do. They're 10th in a pass rate over expected right now.
39:20They're first, obviously in place per game, first and no huddle rate first and seconds person.
39:24They're going to, yeah, they're going to just, this is the crazy thing to expect.
39:29And like, this is why Valey should be rostered and is in that like, Hey, if you need help at receiver standpoint,
39:35cause I mentioned he's running around on 90% of the dropbacks and they're going to run a bazillion plays every single week.
39:41So it's just, those two guys are going to cook.
39:43And with the way, I mean, I said this to Josh and Hayden on the stats versus film yesterday.
39:49Did you know Bryce Lance has run 77 routes this season?
39:52You probably don't because he's not. Oh, I do.
39:54Well, sick, sick pump. Nate Tice does. Yeah. He can, he can really move.
39:58And right now he's not, he's just the sacrificial player in the offense.
40:01He is 6.5% targets per route. I mean, he's, but that's, that's going to open things up for these other guys.
40:07You saw the, the, the chart for Shuck. A lot of those like quick out routes all go to a lava.
40:13And that was, I talked about this in last season where Spencer Rattler and, and, and Olave had a really good chemistry
40:19on those quick outbreakers, but then Shuck comes in, he matches that, and then he will launch it at least three times
40:25over the middle to a lava and a lava is just, you know, wide, wide open.
40:30And I think I love this offense, Nate. I think I figured this out.
40:33I figured, I think I figured out why I really like it so much because I think Kellen Moore is a really like quarterback friendly play caller.
40:41A lot of the stuff they have designed here.
40:43It's like, he gets, he gets these guys into good rhythm.
40:46And I think Shuck, you mentioned he has a good chemistry with Vele.
40:50I thought last year he developed a great chemistry really quickly with Chris Olave.
40:54Like he's just a very receiver friendly quarterback. And as a biased member of big receiver, I very much like a quarterback friendly wide receiver.
41:01So I think that's why this like pushes my right buttons for this offense.
41:04And I'm fascinated to see what Shuck can do.
41:07You know, if when Jordan Tyson gets ramped up, like, will he have that same kind of effect with him?
41:12We don't know when he's going to come back, but something to kind of keep an eye on.
41:17I think passing game players in this offense will continue with the pace and the way Shuck plays.
41:22Not perfect, but very receiver friendly. I think this is, I find a lot of sustainability in the past game here.
41:28Yep. It's, it's, this is one of those real life.
41:31I think this is more like an above average to good offense fantasy.
41:34I'm buying everything though. Like it's very fancy friendly, very, what you said, quarterback friendly.
41:38Um, the pace, I think the past game will go up.
41:41And I think the Bryce Lance sacrificial stuff is real because, or I mean, or it has kind of like a boost effect on everybody else.
41:49It's like early career out Pierce, which was kind of an easy comparison to make with Bryce Lance.
41:54He opens up vele's not signing any speed records.
41:56A lot of it can do everything, but you don't.
41:59So if you're running it like these concepts that have like a post and over, you want to lobby on the over
42:05because you want him getting the juicy target on those concepts.
42:08But that's where Bryce Lance comes in. Um, there was a play actually the one I quote tweeted with that first score stat that play.
42:15If you look on it, Bryce Lance is in the slot and yeah, yeah.
42:19Throttle, throttle, throttle. And see the core going like, Oh my God.
42:22Oh my God. Um, but the, on that one, Bryce Lance is in the slot and he is rolling and he takes
42:28two guys and those routes are called take two routes.
42:31And a lot of receivers don't realize what that means.
42:33They go take two posts and like, no one under, they don't like.
42:37No, with a literal meaning of that is, it means you're taking two defenders with you.
42:41And that's what Bryce Lance gets put on. There's a lot of traditional offense in this.
42:46And I say my compliment to shock and, and I mean this in a, in a, actually a good, this is more
42:52of a compliment compliment that I think people are going to realize is like, there's a lot of Derek Carr to his
42:58game because if it's good, he's going to get there.
43:01He's going to get to the right target. He gives a lot of ball plays chances.
43:05He gets rid of the ball when he needs to.
43:08Um, again, I'm going to come back to that pick play, which was an incompletion on third down.
43:13I was more impressed by the incompletion than some of his completions because he's pressured right away.
43:17A lobby is on a wheel route and he throws it well before a lobby even is even breaking because he's, he's
43:23about to get sacked, but he gave the play a chance and he put it to the right spot.
43:29But that's good process. That's going to lead to big plays down the road.
43:32So yeah, I like the Ravens did dominate that game.
43:35Don't get me wrong, but the saints are like, this is a very, very fancy friendly offense that I'm really liking a
43:41lot of their pieces outside the run game. The passing game was really like the pieces.
43:46Yeah. I do think Travis H and drafters are banged because he's just like, not, you can talk about the contract all
43:52you want, but he's not playing up the contract right now.
43:55Alave is playing up to his contract and more.
43:57Um, I can't believe you got less per year than a DK Metcalf.
44:01That's absolutely insane to me here. Right. He's going to be an all pro this year and it's a long time.
44:07Like Chris Olave is a superstar bag holder. Uh, I'm, I'm just loving what he's doing.
44:11Should have won a rookie of the year. Still maintain that.
44:14Should have won a rookie of the year. I still, still won't get over that.
44:18They spawn talk about good contracts. How about Jalen Coker's contract?
44:21That is might be the most, that might be the best extension pay in the fricking league right now that he's getting paid.
44:27Like, Oh my God. Alan Lazard from a few years ago.
44:30It's crazy. I mean, he's a top 25 guy.
44:33I know. So the undrafted players will forever be banged.
44:36There's just nothing, nothing they can do about that.
44:38Um, okay. Let's get to a team that's trending down here.
44:41And this is the new England Patriots. Um, is we, we, we really let this team have it after week one, Nate on three Oh one.
44:48When we did the recap for the Wednesday night opener, I gotta say they won in week two.
44:53I don't really feel all that better about it other than Travian Henderson did give him one long run, which is great.
44:59Cause I don't think you're going to get a lot of consistent explosive plays in the past game.
45:04Um, I am, I remain pretty worried about what we've seen so far from the Patriots and what we might get going forward with AJ Brown.
45:11You know, I don't know when he's going to be back and I don't know what he's going to look like when he gets back.
45:18Yeah. The, and the thing that's frustrating is even though I liked some of the stuff they did in the run game
45:24against the Steelers, you can't predict who's going to get those touches now.
45:28They give them, they split them between Stevenson and Stevenson and Henderson.
45:31It's kind of one of those things. So it becomes very fancy, frustrating real life football.
45:36I like it, but fancy wise, that's going to be, and I'm a guy that has some Stevenson and I'm just kind
45:42of like, all right, Denzel Boston, what's, what's roll you in the flex baby.
45:45You know, that's kind of like, well, I'm swapping out in there, but that's the thing is like real football.
45:51I did like more of the run game stuff, but off passing game wise, not only AJ Brown is out, not only
45:57is some of the passing game stuff, very archaic.
45:59Um, again, I always get back to Josh McDaniels is sound.
46:02But he's not creative. It's, and there's no one on that staff.
46:06So I can bring creativity to it and you hope AJ Brown puts, put it over the top, but he's not, he's
46:12not walking through that door for four more weeks.
46:14Um, so you got Matt Collins dead, you know, he's just a blocker.
46:18And once in a while, he'll get a ball.
46:20Pop Douglas is not that they're not going to be kind of a nickel and dime team.
46:25I will buy more into Drake may because he's scrambling at the right rate.
46:29Like, so if you want to buy low quarterback and you want to use him and like try and get them, the
46:35tape on him wasn't as bad against the Steelers as I kind of thought there's one play.
46:40A lot of people are extrapolating, uh, that he checked it down to Stevenson and he had Eli Raritan running up to see him.
46:46And I will agree that like, yeah, maybe we could have held it a little bit longer to get there, but the film actually wasn't as bad.
46:54The Steelers front's really good. Like that Steelers defense is good.
46:57Um, and the Seahawks is the Seahawks. And so, yeah, that's also a thing too.
47:01Like anyone who want to go against the Steelers, good luck.
47:04Um, but I really want to say that like, yeah, this is the whole line.
47:08It was looked rough against the Steelers to looked rough against the Seahawks.
47:11That's going to be a thing. They played the Jags.
47:14Jags are really sound. They bring pretty good blitzes.
47:17Then they got the bills. So that's one, that's the defense that I want to see, like how they perform against and
47:23like, okay, where are we at with that? Where can we go with these?
47:27But none of their skill guys are viable to me other than Eli Raritan dynasty shares, you know, like, and Drake may,
47:33I think is still going to be fine, but I think Eli Raritan dynasty shares.
47:37Yeah. Great. Awesome. As long as he stays healthy, I know he got banged up, but everybody else, I'm just kind of like, oof, oof.
47:44They're trying to get Kyle Williams going. He got an in breaker as opposed to a go route.
47:49So that was encouraging. That was cool. That was encouraging.
47:51Once. I think one. One. So kind of put him back on the job.
47:55You said Matt Collins is a blocker. He leads it.
47:58He led the team in routes in week two.
48:00I know. That's what he's always on the field.
48:03They're building. They're passing him out. Matt Collins, who the bills were like, no more.
48:07And Pop Douglas, who I still maintain like shouldn't get as many reps he does because he can't.
48:12I mean, as I say that he has a pancake block on Henderson's touchdown.
48:16Right. But he's not really that blocker. And yeah, just.
48:18And he's not that zone. We've talked about this previously where it kind of just manned into.
48:23It's a real. I do think ultimately. You know, I feel like this.
48:27This offense is just well set up to be a bad team beater and not that well set up against against good teams.
48:33So yeah. The first two weeks, obviously Seahawks Pittsburgh.
48:36That's a tough draw. Jacksonville is a pretty reasonably tough draw on its own right in week three.
48:40They get the bills. And before you mentioned it does lighten up after that where Raiders, Jets, Bears, Dolphins before Packers and
48:47then, you know, Germany game against the Lions before the bye.
48:50So it does get a little bit lighter for the Patriots there.
48:53And ultimately, I just think personnel wise and scheme wise, they're set up to beat bad teams, but not so much against the good teams.
49:00I struggle to kind of see anything different than that with this team, but maybe it'll prove me wrong.
49:05I will say is I only drafted Drake, Maine, one team, and it was an auto draft because it was slow draft and I forgot about the pick.
49:13So that was my only Drake made teams. I wasn't really taking quarterbacks in that range.
49:17I started Jordan love last week and I'm going to start Jordan love again this week.
49:21So I'm going to be waiting on may until some of those like lighter matchups and maybe Brown's back before kind of considering him as a QB one.
49:29Again, another offensive. I'm sorry. Can I get one stat real quick?
49:32And this kind of, this is just, or two stats I should say.
49:36And I always live off success rate and explosive plays Patriots offense 15th and success rate when passing the ball.
49:41Again, it's really funny. Patriots writers and everything are acting like the sky is falling and their quarterbacks 15th and success rate 25th and explosive passes.
49:49That's that's the offense and the run game is not good enough to like carry them.
49:53So that's, that's what those stats is how exactly how it feels right now.
49:57Sorry to cut you off though. No, you're good.
49:59That's exactly. You're right. That is exactly how it feels.
50:02So it's a good way to tie a bow on that.
50:05Okay. We've got two more teams to go on in depth here.
50:08Well, technically three. So we'll pick up the pace here a little bit.
50:12Talking about the Raiders though, the Raiders have definitely trended up here.
50:15Last year, they were 31st as you might imagine in the offensive efficiency metrics this year.
50:20They're 22nd. So, I mean, they're not great or anything, but they have really been explosive in the passing game.
50:25And it's like QB 11 right now, Kirk Cousins and fantasy because he's been ripping that ball downfield off play action.
50:31Our guy, Trey Tucker, the next chart on Trey Tucker is so perfect from week two, especially when you combine it with his reception perception chart.
50:38Because like I said this about him last year in 25 in that Raiders offense, it's like one of the most balanced route charts that you'll see.
50:45Basically all but one route was from a route percentage, like how often he ran it was at or above the NFL average.
50:52So it's really spread out across the tree, but he can really only run three routes at a really high level.
50:58Dig post nine and look at what he's doing here in week two.
51:01It's just big breaking routes over the middle of the field.
51:04So it just makes perfect sense with his particular skill set with what this offense wants to do.
51:09Play action, launch in the ball. I do not think there will be sustainability in this passing game and the run game.
51:15I'm curious to see what you think about the run game so far.
51:19I think pass game wise, it's going to be a rocky road, but in the right spots and they've had the right spots these last two weeks.
51:26It can hit. It can hit for the passing game and specifically Trey Tucker and fantasy.
51:31Yeah, I know it's not me. You wouldn't go.
51:33I wouldn't go into a game thinking throws of 20 more air yards.
51:37If I said, okay, Justin Herbert and Kirk Cousins are going against each other, which one went two of three for 82 yards and a touchdown?
51:44And which one went 0-3 with a pick? Kirk Cousins is the one that went two of three with 82 yards and a touchdown.
51:50And honestly, it was Clint Kubiak called him out after week one.
51:54Someone asked him and said, you know, passive aggressively.
51:56Someone asked him like, hey, how do you create explosive plays in the passing game?
52:00And he was like, throw it deep. You got to throw it.
52:03You got to throw it. And then sure enough, you had those perfect looks.
52:07The Chargers defense right now, I am so out on.
52:10Like where it's like, please start any guys you have against that Chargers defense.
52:14I think this unit might be a bottom eight one as opposed to average, which I thought going in could be average.
52:20Maybe they get sound, but they bust and it's vets.
52:23It's not even just new guys. It's vets having busts.
52:25So that is a defense I am attacking. But they did play well against the run.
52:30The O-line is playing better. But I really thought the Chargers kind of sold out on that.
52:35Maybe that's going to lead to that. But so maybe there is some susceptibility to that.
52:39But if you're getting single high looks and you're going to hit Trey Tucker, there's going to be at least some explosiveness
52:45here, which is with Kirk Cousins, who might have the weakest arm in the league right now.
52:50He can still throw a good deep ball if he's not going to get pressured.
52:54And I think the O-line is pretty good to hold up on those play action concepts.
52:58It's not the Raiders offensive line of last year.
53:01Not saying, again, it's an elite unit, but viable offensive line.
53:04And I just want to see what it looks like with Brock Bowers, just to bring some more balance into the offense.
53:10And yeah, it's not, again, I'm not going to go like, this is going to be a surprise top 10 unit or anything like that.
53:17But I think Trey Tucker is a viable if you want to, I mean, I got to see what the flow is
53:23and the chemistry of everything with Brock Bowers in it, how much they get it.
53:27But in the preseason, there's two guys getting targets dialed up for him.
53:30It was Brock Bowers and Trey Tucker. So I don't think Trey Tucker is going to dip as much as maybe you'd expect.
53:37And I think Kirk Cousins, you know, is just going to be, you know, there's going to be some dependence on who
53:43he plays against and whether the pass rush can get home.
53:46But no, this is viable. The floor is a little bit higher and I'm still buying Gentee.
53:50They're dialing up pass plays to Gentee, like screens and gimmies to him as well.
53:54Encouraging too. So even outside the run game, they're trying to find him targets.
53:58He dropped a check down on another one. And then they've tried to dial up some screens for him as well.
54:04So again, it's not a like, oh my God, run game is not going, he's dead.
54:09They're still trying to find ways to get him the ball because he is so dynamic.
54:13So encouraging stuff. I'm not going to say great, but it's encouraging that it's viable.
54:17I think that's the right way to say it.
54:19It's encouraging that it's viable. They've done some cool stuff with the fullback to then use that as a create some space for Ashton Gentee as a receiver.
54:27That's been fun to watch. And yeah, there's just a lot of good floor setting things here.
54:32Like we say, they're jumping from 31st to 22nd.
54:34That's called establishing a floor. And I do think like you can tell yourself a story that whenever Mendoza gets in there, the ceiling raises up.
54:41Whenever Brock Bowers, the ceiling raises up. You know, again, offensive line continues to gel.
54:46While Gentee gets further and further away from an ankle sprain of some degree in the preseason, it can get better and better here.
54:52So yeah, it's like we kind of know what this ecosystem will look like.
54:56And it's been good so far. I'm definitely positive on most things Raiders here at this point.
55:01I'm not positive on the team that they played in week two, which is the Los Angeles Chargers.
55:06The Chargers right now, if you want to talk about the offensive efficiency metrics, my God, Nate, it's a horror show.
55:11They're 30th in the league ahead of only the abhorrent Pittsburgh Steelers offense and the zombie Falcons team that you've mentioned here several times.
55:18So that's where we're at with the Chargers. Chargers have been banned on football.
55:22301 tough scene. What's gone wrong and how and can it get better?
55:25Can I guess that's the question? Like, we know, actually, we pretty much know what's gone wrong.
55:30Everything's gone wrong. Can it get better from here?
55:33It can't. And that's the thing. I'm not totally out on the offense.
55:36They're not going to be a top five offense like I was hopefully going to be.
55:41But it's not going to be as bad as this is.
55:44But I know and I'm aware of the schedule and everything, but it is the NFL.
55:48But they're 31st in penalties per offensive snap right now.
55:51They are 30th in turnover EPA lost right now.
55:53Like, they are just, like, shooting themselves in the foot.
55:56Drops, I'm sure they're high up there. I don't have the rates right now.
56:00They're 32nd in pressure rate allowed. They have the 30th longest distance to go on third down.
56:04So it's been really tough sledding for this team right now.
56:07And then when it does go well, you got teammates committing PBUs on each other.
56:12You got David Njoku volleyball setting a ball into the air.
56:15You got Brendan Thompson dropping a wide open bootleg and on top of it running a comeback route on another one.
56:20They did get completed on. But he ran the route at the wrong depth and took a bad break on it.
56:26So, again, going to call out the receiver coach because they're poorly coached.
56:30Having said all that, well, actually, Charlie Clark is hurt now.
56:33David Njoku is hurt right now. So we got that going on as well.
56:37They're just making so many mistakes. And everyone's going to focus on the O-line.
56:40It's these auxiliary blockers that I was so high on are making mistakes.
56:44They're going to the wrong guy. Alec Ingold, who's been in this offense for like four years, is like making mistakes.
56:50And I know, like, why am I bringing up a fullback on Fantasy Show?
56:54He's very important because he's at the point of attack on a lot of blocking plays.
56:58Even just the Gadsden touchdown. So, like, this is why I'm just pulling my hair out with them is that that play was a funky design.
57:05They bootlegged towards Max Crosby. And so what I'm saying there is they're leaving him unblocked.
57:10That is the worst freaking thing you can do against an elite pass rusher because those guys absolutely wreck your play.
57:15And then Justin Herbert bobbed and weaved and made the throw.
57:18So, but it's a lot of these things where I'm just like, what are you guys focusing on?
57:23They're poorly coached as far as the skill guys with the details right now.
57:27And I'm saying all that because that means I do think there's going to be growth going upwards as they maybe just kind of like feel embarrassed.
57:35Hopefully, I think. And again, when I watch it back on film, it's like, well, if they catch those two balls or
57:41if they catch those three balls, yeah, it's going to look a little better.
57:44If they're not getting those penalties, it's going to get a little better.
57:48But again, have to see it before I kind of like fully get on board.
57:52So it's like, yeah, it's frustrating. I do think it's going to get a little bit better.
57:57They're figuring out the runs for Hampton. I can tell that.
58:00They're trying to, you know, he's not a zone runner.
58:03I think they're realizing that too. So they're trying to get more pullers on stuff.
58:07And I can see that kind of clicking for him, but he can't fumble.
58:11So, you know, he's had some great moments, but then he can't fumble.
58:14So again, I do think there's room for growth.
58:17We had like six fumbles in the last game.
58:19It's just those missed assignments in the blocking game, the drops, the fumbles.
58:23Those are the things that can't. Yeah. Penalties, like all that stuff can get corrected.
58:27It's very frustrating that we're talking about a Jim Harbaugh team and these, you know, these dumb mistakes when he should be,
58:33you know, the football guy, like we're smart or what?
58:36It's they're like a, they're, they're a dumb team right now.
58:39And you can just, when you're professional football players, you'd think you could flip that around and, you know, professional coaches.
58:44So we'll see if that can happen. But I mean, that's been the biggest problem right now.
58:49I will say from a fantasy standpoint, your notes about Hampton are really good.
58:53I think we, I mean, we saw Mike McDaniel late in the final season of Miami start to get to more pullers
58:59and gap based concepts, which is just like, that's what Hampton does better.
59:02Um, overall. So I'd like to see more of that.
59:05I think that, you know, Hampton's definitely, I think Hampton's probably going to not meet his highest expectations from a fantasy standpoint,
59:11just because the offense is not going to be as good as we thought.
59:15But I think he won't be an outright bust.
59:18You know, he's running back 18 right now in fantasy.
59:20I can see him getting up to, you know, maybe a 12 or a 13 type.
59:25And then like Lad McConkie, they just have to have Lad healthy that period.
59:29They're a top seven offense in EPA per play from JJ Zachary.
59:32And he had this set. There's top seven offense by EPA per play.
59:35When he's on the field, they're a bottom two team better than only the Falcons when he's off the field.
59:41Embarrassing. So it's just, he's, he's gotta be healthy.
59:43That was the whole theory of the case here is that, you know, could he be this year's Jackson Smith and Jigba?
59:49He has been incredibly efficient when he's been on the field.
59:52He just, when he's off, imagine the Seahawks, if they didn't have JSN, they would be screwed.
59:57They'd be screwed. They'd be screwed. And Lad McConkie is like a poor man's version of that.
60:02And so when he's not on the field, they're screwed.
60:05You know, Quentin Johnson will have a good game at some point, but he hasn't had good games to start.
60:10The other supporting actors, you know, it's just, they are what they are.
60:14So I think that's the, to make a really complicated situation simple.
60:17I think that's how we wrap the Chargers section.
60:19Yeah. They're even on early downs. And this is why I still have some optimism.
60:24Cause I thought the run game would be cool with Hampton and all this.
60:27Cause I was like, all right, I'm not relying on Quentin Johnson, yada, yada.
60:31They're 12th and running back successor on early downs.
60:34So there's still some encouraging signs there. It's like, it's, it's close to like being not embarrassing.
60:38And there's, it's not just me going like, Oh, trust me on the eye test.
60:42It's like, there's still some positive signs there. It's just, they got to get out of their own way.
60:48Again, they can't just be shooting themselves in the foot with turnovers and penalties on early downs and just putting themselves in bad situations.
60:54But so that's the, I agree with you that I think, I don't think Hampton could be the surprise.
61:00Okay. He's going to be the top four back elite one carrying your team, but I still think he's going to be
61:06very viable and fancy as they kind of figure out the game.
61:09Last thing we want to give a quick shout out to here is the New York jets who have gone from 30th
61:15to 16th, very Carolina Panthers esque where they've gone from, you know, well, like even worse up to about average in the offensive efficiency metrics.
61:22And I mean, there's a lot to, there's a lot to like with this team.
61:26Shout out to Frank Reich. Like I was a doubter and we'll see if it lasts the whole season, but he's definitely
61:32thrown some cool, he's thrown some cool and, you know, downright wacky stuff out there at times.
61:37I know at one point he had the five tight ends on the field in week one, but even just the regular, he did it again.
61:44No one highlighted it because it was a mess of a play, but no, it was, no, he did it again, but
61:50he did, but he didn't do it. He did do it.
61:53He did try it. And I mean, like they're another team that's really highly concentrated right now.
61:57Garrett Wilson on the field for 90% of the dropbacks, 80 Mitchell on the field for 83%.
62:02You know, they've got the slot receiver, Isaiah Williams, who's replacing Omar Cooper.
62:06But for the most part, like the ball is going to Garrett Wilson, 80 Mitchell got 12 targets in week number two,
62:12you know, with 80 Mitchell getting 12 targets is always going to be a journey, but you know, that's a viable thing, especially against the lions this week.
62:19So Nate, uh, I I've enjoyed, I have enjoyed watching the jets offense.
62:23Uh, what are your notes on New York so far?
62:26I think Gino really likes 80 Mitchell really, really, really there's, there's a lot of like targets where I'm looking and I'm
62:32like, okay, he could come off that and he's staying on 80 Mitchell and whether that's cause it's eccentric or whatever, but
62:38that's, it's not a knock on Garrett Wilson. I just said, Garrett Wilson's got plenty of explosives already.
62:43It's more just like, wow. Okay. Maybe Mitchell might be as if you're in a deeper league and need, need a guy.
62:49Like, I think that's very, very real. Like he's got, I mean, he's got better first down per route, right?
62:54He's got the highest first down per route run on the team.
62:58Um, he's just over two yards per route run right now.
63:01Third downs are going to him, which is interesting to me.
63:04They've had, um, I've talked about this concept before a flood concept, which was like the sale route in the deep corner.
63:10He's getting the ball on that, which I think is interesting.
63:13So it's not, uh, Garrett Wilson's going to get his at times.
63:16It's kind of like a good thing that they can go to most Isaiah Williams is like a dirty work guy, but
63:22yeah, no Gino's chucking it to these guys and he's chucking it to both of them.
63:26And I, and 80 Mitchell's playing a lot more sound.
63:29Uh, it's not all perfect, but he's, he's had some drop.
63:32He already has a drop. Um, but it really has been some nice stuff going on with him and some, he's going to get targets every single week.
63:40Yeah. I got to take a look at him because he's always been one of these receivers that is super high in
63:46the separation metrics and the way I chart things.
63:48He's good against man press coverage, but he's been like a disaster against zone coverage because of just like the, yeah, it's,
63:55that's always been the bugaboo with him. Uh, so it's just like kind of a difference in how you chart things and what you're looking for.
64:02For me, uh, that's obviously how it plays out there.
64:04So I want to take a look at what he's done so far in that regard.
64:09Cause yeah, he's like, I still think even with criticisms in his game, he's a perfectly viable starting receiver for a team
64:15that desperately needs a guy to at least draw like on those sale concepts, the floods, draw some attention away from number
64:21five, because he's the guy that just like, everybody knows it's going to Garrett.
64:25It's going to Garrett. Uh, you, and he's been too easy to kind of get multiple eyes on like cloud his side of the field.
64:32You know, now this might like help them open things up.
64:35In addition to the fact that like they're playing all that heavy personnel, their heavy personnel plays are up from 29th to 16th.
64:41Uh, so far this year, like that's plays with multiple tight ends, you know, the whole deal.
64:46Um, again, uh, under center 25th to 15th motion is down, but play action is up 30th to 16th.
64:51So far this year from last year, a lot of play action.
64:54And you know, that's great. Like, this is the stuff that you want to see for efficient receiver play.
64:59As long as Gino can continue to hold down the job, like their offensive line, Arman Membu is awesome.
65:05Uh, awesome in the run in the past game, you know, like this is a good line for the most part.
65:10Like there's going to be, I think some sneaky value for this team in fantasy.
65:1480 Mitchell was probably, which is probably gonna be the sneaky one.
65:18And again, they're playing the lions this week. Like that's a carnival matchup right there.
65:22It is. That's the thing. And they're going to be chucking it.
65:25I think against them, Mike, that's the thing. They have at least enough in the run game.
65:30You know, Brees Hall's very talented and everything. I still think Braylon Allen is like a decent runner running back too, but it's like passing game wise.
65:37And then they have a bevy of tight ends, you know, a ton of them, but like Kenny on Sadiq is explosive.
65:43Mason Taylor is a nice inline guy that can do enough as a receiver.
65:47So they have the ability to pivot depending on the matchup, which I think is always just interesting for an offense.
65:53They are this year's bad team beater. Like I really do think that, you know, we've used that term, you know, but
65:59they are like they, if you're not on your P's and Q's, they're going to get you because they have enough run
66:05game and they have enough explosive passing game to like, all right, if we don't have a good corner, they can attack that.
66:11If we don't have linebackers, they got a couple, you know, a couple of tight ends that can attack.
66:17Well, this team can't stop the run. Well, they can get after you in the run game.
66:21So yeah, I think I'm, I'm with you that I think, I think they're gonna be chucking it against the lines and
66:27both guys who might be viable, both of those receivers that week.
66:31Yeah. It's going to be a little bit boomer bus because they've, they've gotten into a lot of gap runs too.
66:36And their gap runs are with Brees Hall. I think it's always gonna be like they're, they're a hunt big plays.
66:42I don't know that they're going to be, I mean, so far this year, I think they're 11th in rushing success rate.
66:48So there actually been a little bit more of a sustaining run game.
66:52But again, there's a lot, there's a lot to like here.
66:55And just like the brass tacks of it is the jets have historically been just a cross off team in fantasy through two weeks.
67:01They're at least not looking like a cross off team.
67:04They actually have some options that you can get pretty excited about here, which is, which is nice to say for the New York football jets.
67:11Okay. We are going to take our first quick break.
67:14We will talk about those teams trending down. We get to the Thursday night preview, but we do have to do the flex check.
67:21We will do that real quick on the other side of this break.
67:24We'll see you in a second. All right, we're back.
67:27And here is this week's flex fit check presented by verse.
67:30A great fantasy flex player does it all just like verse skies where build your lineup of versatile looks fit for whatever the week throws at you.
67:37And each week we take a look at five players on the flex borderline in our Yahoo rankings and tell you if
67:43they should start or sit based on their matchup.
67:46I'm going to be honest, Nate. Some of these names are very on the borderline, but you know what?
67:51That's where some people are with injury situations right now.
67:54Okay. And also talk about cross off teams. We have three teams with young quarterback injuries out there.
67:59Jackson dart done for the season. That's over. Jane Daniels.
68:02Who knows when he's going to be back? Caleb Williams is not going to play for the bears.
68:06They might start your boy case Keenum. Who's like your age and hasn't your boy case Keenum.
68:11I don't know. I actually wrote a case Keenum film breakdown on my original blog backyard banter in 2013.
68:16So that's how long case Keenum has been in our lives when he was starting as an undrafted free agent for the Houston Texans.
68:23Anyways, you're just like probably crossing off the bears because they're, they might play case Keenum and they they're playing the Eagles on Monday night.
68:30Not, not a great situation. So some people might have to make some questionable decisions in their fantasy football flexes and starting
68:36Tony Pollard, who's our first player here at the New York giants.
68:39That's always a questionable decision because, you know, frankly, the Tennessee Titans, they dunked on me last week as I made the,
68:45um, the, the bold prediction, the hail Mary prediction that they weren't going to score a point.
68:50And of course they took that interception back inside the red zones.
68:53Like, well, I'm already screwed. Okay. The Titans are going to, they're going to at least score a point here, which is fine.
68:59Came down the fourth down. Came down the fourth down though.
69:03You had hope there. I know I had, I did have a little more hope than I should have.
69:08But nevertheless, Nate, um, where are we at with this Titans offense?
69:11The run game to me, I just don't know if I can ever stomach the, the Pollard stuff, but he at least touched the ball a decent bit.
69:19What's the viability of anybody from this Titans offense right now?
69:22Uh, and no one, I want to start fancy.
69:24Um, you know, like even some of what happened against the Eagles, it was like third and longs where they've just missed a whole bunch of tackles.
69:32Um, giants are tackling better. Like, you know, if you're desperate, yes, I would say that cause they are going to run
69:38it enough, but just the offense still isn't like anything super encouraging outside some cam war cam war actually a nice game.
69:44I did think, um, and it really on third down, especially your, your guy, uh, a like animal, uh, standing out as
69:50a top receiver, apparently, uh, for this passing game.
69:52So like, honestly, how we have this projection right now is like exactly how it I expected Tony, every Tony Pollard game
69:58to be 10 to 14 carries 50 to 70 yards.
70:01I will say I do like the Titans online coach.
70:04And I do think the Titans offense aligned, the players are playing better than you'd expect.
70:08Um, like JC Latham's playing well, they had undrafted or undrafted a day three guard.
70:12That's actually playing decently, but that's not great. So, you know, any team that has a really good defensive front, it was
70:18going to give them issues, which should have been the Eagles.
70:21And they, it was kind of a back and forth.
70:24I would say in that game, they have a better suplex right now than the chargers.
70:28So, uh, you know, I'm bashing them. So, uh, we'll, we'll see how that goes out.
70:33But I just think I'm just kind of like not over the top with anything here.
70:37I just, it's more about real football, encouraging signs of process.
70:40And really, it's really to me with Titans, it's all about Cam Ward.
70:44It's like making sure he's the right guy and all that, as opposed to anything with fantasy viability.
70:49Yeah. Pollard is going to be somewhere between my running back 30 to 34 every single week.
70:53Um, it's not the worst matchup in the world, but yeah, you'd probably have to be in a tough spot because he's
71:00splitting the backfield with Tajay Spears, like Nick Singleton, even got 14% of the touches in week two.
71:04Uh, you can't really split this backfield three ways and expect Pollard to be somebody on the flex line.
71:10Uh, a player I actually have ranked ahead of Tony Pollard this week at the running back position is Blake Corum for
71:16the Los Angeles Rams are going into Denver this week.
71:18Um, Corum looked awesome on Monday night. I mean, it's still going to be the Karen Williams show.
71:23He can fumble it 20 times. Doesn't matter. They're just going to keep going back to him.
71:28Um, but Nate, I do think the Broncos run defense curious to get your thoughts on this.
71:33Like obviously week one, not great against Kenneth Walker.
71:35They missed every single tackle you possibly could have week two.
71:38I thought it was a little bit better, but facial toot and still had a couple of explosive runs.
71:44And when you look at Blake Corum, like he's an explosive run guy.
71:47So again, it's, it's very volatile with the Corum type, but certainly if you're in a tough spot, I think maybe he's on that, that, that borderline.
71:54Um, yeah, I do. I agree. I still think it's a, um, two series, one series kind of split, but then also
72:01like, Hey, if Kyron's going to fumble again, like, okay, we'll take them off and maybe get more heat there.
72:06And also the thing was with Kyron and I'm not trying to like jinx anything right here is that he has been
72:12susceptible to getting banged up and he's held off.
72:15Like that's always just one of those things. He's not the biggest guy.
72:18Um, so you never know when Corum's going to be viable.
72:21And I think that more long-term throughout the season, but no, I think he's very viable this week.
72:26I, and they have enough on defense to give issues to the Broncos so it can be a run heavy game script.
72:32Um, but this team is second in suplex rate, like a rushing suplex rate.
72:36I'm sorry. This offense is good. You know, it's a good offense.
72:39They're going to get a lot of juicy touches.
72:42He's going to get touches in the red zone.
72:44He might get some, uh, like the Kyron Williams touchdown was a designer for him, but Corum might get some of these
72:50screens that Sean McVay likes to call in the red zone.
72:53So there's that there's like, yeah, it says one reception for four yards.
72:57That's just projection, everything. It might be that one reception though, it was like at the 12 yard line, he gets a
73:03screen and gets a touchdown off of that. So it's like, it's not a wasted reception, I guess is the good way
73:09to put it, but no, they're going to run the ball.
73:12And I think you can run the ball against this Ravens defense that it's boom bust.
73:16It seems like against the run for them. Um, they, they do a lot of slanting and everything.
73:21Maybe John Franklin Myers was very important for them to stop the run, but you can get after this defense enough.
73:27Um, especially I think what the, what the Rams have.
73:30Okay. Next one here, Denzel Boston versus the Carolina Panthers.
73:33I mean, listen, I, I, I was a Boston guy.
73:35Um, the one I'm, uh, the person I'm speaking to here, uh, on the show might have been the only one who's maybe bigger Denzel Boston guy.
73:43I know a lot of people like Denzel Boston, but man, you gotta be pretty pleased with what you've seen from him so far in the NFL.
73:50So, and he said he had training camp hype too, which is so you're just putting the pieces together.
73:55Yep. Yep. And it just continued and they want to get him touches.
73:59They want to get him routes. He's getting like number one target routes as far as like, okay, that's viable that Deshaun
74:05Watson for even with his qualms is throwing a back shoulders, throwing them fades in the end zone.
74:10So he's getting those big opportunities. And then he's turning in 15 yard gains into touchdowns because he has that build to
74:16break attack over the intermediate part of the field and take it to the house.
74:20So no, that's, it's real. Um, you know, and that's not to say anything.
74:24I think Casey conception was going to be something down the road, but right now in week three, like this is their number one.
74:31Um, and it feels like they're passing tech is Deshaun Watson will favor more outside throws.
74:35I just mentioned the end breaker, but he will favor more outside throws.
74:39That's fine with Denzel Boston. Cause he's getting those fades.
74:41He's getting those stops. He's getting those ISO ball moments again, Todd Monk in coach, Mike Evans is not like a true X is not foreign to him.
74:49And I, I know somebody compared him to Mike Evans.
74:52I can't remember who, um, it might've been talking.
74:54I don't know. I don't know. Oh no. It was you, Matt all the way back in the super bowl, super bowl.
75:00You were dropping that comparison. Yeah. So, you know, it's, I think he's at the very least a flex guy.
75:06If you have them, especially a matchup like the Panthers that you can still get after this defense and not like it
75:12was Cooper rush, you know, you remember what they, what the, what the bears were doing, you know, it's, you can get
75:18after, you can get after this defense, uh, this Panthers defense.
75:21So a couple of things here. One, we talked about this earlier where like Mike Evans, Baker Mayfield on the out routes, uh, Boston.
75:27Yeah. He had the big post. Everybody forgot how to tackle.
75:30He ran it in there. He also could have had the go route touchdown that he let slip through his hands.
75:36The very last minute could even been a bigger day, but him and, uh, Watson also connected on three out routes in
75:42this game against, uh, the Buccaneers as well. And like, again, the bucks defense stinks, but at the same time, like these were really all three of them.
75:50Uh, I clipped them on my film burner account.
75:52Uh, you know, so the three out routes, they're all really well-timed.
75:56The breaks are crisp. It's crazy to me, Nate, that people thought this guy couldn't separate.
76:00Like he's already separating at the NFL level while playing 98% of his snaps on ball in week two.
76:05Like he's doing real deal, big boy X receiver, uh, stuff.
76:08Very impressive. The one note I would say about this week, I still think he is a flex play, probably volatile.
76:14It's always going to be that way. It's the Browns, you know, they're not projected for a lot of points.
76:20You bring up the bears matchup from week one.
76:22They're actually, I think this could be like Casey Concepcion's breakout game and he's cause he's gotten a lot of targets, a
76:28lot of catches, but think about how like the bears attacked this Panthers team where it's a lot of the quick hitters.
76:34Uh, you know, it's the stuff underneath. You don't necessarily want to throw into the teeth of like JC Horn and Mike Jackson who are good players.
76:42That doesn't mean again, they can, they did this like with quick hitters to Boston primarily on the outs, but in breakers, the Kalief Raymond dish stuff.
76:49That's what you're typically going to see from Casey.
76:51So I actually wouldn't be surprised if this is Casey's breakout week, but that doesn't mean that you can't kind of chase the big plays with Denzel Boston.
76:59No one will ever think this, but right now Denzel Boston has the exact same average speed on his routes.
77:05According to next gen stats is Garrett Wilson. It's faster than Antonio Williams.
77:08It's faster than a lot of other guys. They have the same exact top speed 20.48 miles per hour.
77:13And this is just overall. Uh, so it is, he has a 30, he's already broke 20 miles an hour on his routes twice.
77:20Like, which if I look up right now, I could pull up how many guys have multiple so far.
77:25And there's not a lot that is only Diami Brown has three, but CD lamb has two Devante Smith has two Garrett Wilson, Christian Watson guys.
77:32You think Parker Washington, um, guys that you think have two or more Matthew golden.
77:37There's Denzel Boston right up there with a lot of speedsters, Matthew golden and Denzel Boston are running the same speed and
77:43Denzel Boston's six, three, 215 pounds and has shown that he can catch stuff over the middle.
77:47It's like, yeah, no, this is eye test underlying stats metrics, you know, speed metrics.
77:51It's like all systems go with Denzel Boston. Love it.
77:54Great shot though. Cause you can attack the slot against Panthers too, too.
77:58Like you can attack the middle. So that's actually a great shot too, by the way.
78:02Maybe Sean can actually have two good games in a row for the first time in six years.
78:07Um, probably not, but we'll see a stressy in the YouTube chat asked us Denzel Boston or Devon Valey for a flex spot this week.
78:14Full PPR. Here's how I would think about this.
78:16Both these guys are on the field all the time.
78:19Boston, 96% of the routes, uh, uh, Devon Valey, 93% of the routes.
78:23They're both good. Very different. I think Boston, obviously long-term higher ceiling for sure.
78:27He's probably more your volatile play full PPR though.
78:29Like the saints are going to score more points this week against the Raiders than the Panther.
78:34And then the Browns are against the Panthers. I would probably go with Valey, especially full PPR.
78:38You're getting on base, but two really good options.
78:41Uh, I do think Boston, you can chase big plays on that one.
78:44Two more to talk about here really quickly. Nate Xavier worthy at the Miami dolphins.
78:49He's getting design touches. The offense is back. The chiefs are back, but is it enough to chase worthy?
78:54I still think very much like there's not that much boom.
78:57There is some risk. I will probably have worthy in the forties, uh, simply because look, this is a team that's going
79:03to be projected to score a bunch of points in Miami or again.
79:06Yeah. In Miami are the Kansas city chiefs. So that's kind of how I'm thinking of worthy from a fantasy standpoint, but
79:12I know you've got to like what you've seen from this chiefs offense so far.
79:17Oh yeah. And it's, it's real. Like, again, it might be fancy frustrating.
79:20Figure out what receiver is. Rasheed Rice actually looks pretty good.
79:23Travis Kelsey is running the fastest he's run on his routes in like four, four years.
79:28Um, I don't know if you saw my two.
79:30Yeah. My, my research on that. It's my Sunday night research where, yeah, he gets engaged and also he loses some weight fast again.
79:37He is a wedding shape. Oh, I know. I look at my, I have a wedding picture around here and I look at it every single day.
79:44Like, ha ha, those were the days. Um, but no, I, I really do think like Kelsey's viable, very viable.
79:50Rasheed Rice. I do think is viable worthy. I'm just, I'm always so low on him, but he's so boom bust to me and the boom.
79:57I don't think it's worth chasing. Like I'd rather almost chase Taequann Thornton than Xavier worthy.
80:01Just because of the, what we saw on Sunday night and I'm saying, I'm not saying start Taequann Thornton this year.
80:07We got, I'm not saying that, but he's always just going to be a guy I'm super low on because I just, I just don't trust him either.
80:15He has bad drops and some of the designer touches he doesn't take the most advantage of.
80:19And so, yeah, he's a frustrating player to me, but yeah, the run game is real.
80:24And I would say, I would encourage people to, you know, I'm sure they already do, but Emma Johnson is real as well.
80:30The backup runner. Oh yeah. When Kenneth Walker, like it's very, this offense is real.
80:34Like it's, it's, it's looking good. Once you get into the range of receivers where worthy is going to be ranked.
80:40Like I said, in the, in the deeper forties, you're basically looking at like, who's got a good odds to find his way into the end zone.
80:47He is attached to Kansas city chiefs offense and they're going to, they're going to beat the brakes off the dolphins and
80:53they do enough like designery nonsense around the goal line that worthy could sneak his way.
80:58So like, if you're weighing him versus, I don't know, Carnell Tate or something like that, like go, just go as Xavier worthy in that, in that situation.
81:05Cause they're actually going to score points. Trey Tucker versus Xavier worthy.
81:09Like that's more of a tougher call to me.
81:11I think I'd probably actually end up going with Trey Tucker there.
81:14Last one, Dalton Schultz at the Indianapolis Colts. I mean, if Nico Collins sits, the Dalton Schultz scam is on Nate Tice.
81:20That's, that's how it's going to go. I actually want to just, where are you at this Texans offense and CJ Stroud?
81:26Cause I do think Schultz is viable as even like a flex play with, if Nico Collins sits, there's actually a decent
81:33bit of tight ends that look like solid flex plays at this point, just because like they're on the field, a bunch
81:39and Dalton Schultz is on the field. A bunch.
81:41And they're getting this, what used to be the slot targets.
81:44They're getting that's kind of underneath routes for him.
81:47Um, no, I, I'm actually encouraged by the passing game.
81:49I thought, I think CJ Stroud is playing good ball.
81:52He's being aggressive. He's stepping up in the pocket, which is what I wanted to see him do because he started developing
81:58a habit of bailing back, um, and trusting his arm, but now he's stepping up and scrambling.
82:03So I'm, I'm like, I, you can, I was in, uh, again on Tuesday or yesterday on football three Oh one.
82:09We talked about the Texans kind of like, I still am buying them.
82:12Um, you know, even their defense was playing better than people realize.
82:15Like they held Joe Burrow to his second lowest drop back success rate of his entire career.
82:20He just extended plays and Dave Jamar chase and T Higgins.
82:23And they just, they just got dunked on. It happens.
82:26But no, I think the offensive passing game, I'm encouraged.
82:29They have to figure out. They used a lot of 11 last week, which is weird because I thought with all the
82:35injuries, they'd go more tight ends and what the bangles are.
82:38So no passing game wise, still very encouraged. Really excited to see Nico back in this run game.
82:43They have to figure out what they are. They're a bad zone running team.
82:46I've tweeted this. I've talked about this, but they got to do away with the zone runs and they just got to do man and gap blocks.
82:54Um, and I think they will, because I think they're going to be aware of that because it's just so stark, um,
83:00about what, like how bad it's been. Um, so I'm trying to find the exact stat, but they're much better running gap
83:06and, uh, uh, pullers and using duo. And I think they want to lean into that run game wise, but passing game was encouraged, pretty encouraged.
83:13Good to hear. Uh, we certainly need some, uh, good viability from this team right now.
83:17Yeah. Gap percentage wise, uh, success rate. They're definitely higher are the Houston Texans.
83:21Uh, they're sixth in gap success, right? They're 32nd in zone success rate, uh, according to the numbers I have here.
83:27So yeah, definitely. Yeah. I found it right here.
83:30They are, they have a 35% success, this next gen stats, 35% success rate on gap man runs.
83:35That's pretty good. I think. Uh, and then, but zone runs, they're at 16%.
83:38So let's do away. Let's do away with the zone runs.
83:41You're got your big burly offensive linemen are built for zone.
83:44So let's just stick with us. Stick with the man and gap runs.
83:48All right. Those are your five flex players to consider this week.
83:51We're going to take our last break. When we come back, we're talking Thursday night football.
83:56We'll get into that right after this. All right, we're back.
83:59We've got Thursday night football Falcons at Packers. Packers are six and a half point home favorites, 43 and a half point total on this one.
84:06Uh, five point total, uh, or five point spread.
84:08It looks like who's, who's, who's, uh, who's betting on the Falcons on this one.
84:12Interesting takeaway right there. Uh, okay. Michael Penix is family.
84:15Well, you said, you said the name, Michael Penix, the, the, the man of the hour here, as mentioned earlier in the
84:21show, this is one of the, these are both teams actually trending down from an offensive efficiency standpoint, as you might imagine
84:27a lot going on, on green bay Falcon side of things.
84:30Of course it's the quarterback situation. I mean, Cooper rush is the ultimate, like I became important at work and it ruined my life.
84:37Uh, player. He didn't, he, he did not sign up for this.
84:40Okay. And now he's out of the mix. Uh, somebody came in there with your, with a sign for your boy, Jack
84:46strand through a pick six right away. We're, we're, we're back to Michael Penix.
84:50Okay. So Nate, I think the way to start out this discussion is, is fixing the Falcons offense, not the franchise, not
84:56the team, but fixing the Falcons offense as simple as we put Michael Penix back in there and everything is okay for guys like Drake London and B.
85:04John Robinson and Kyle pits, or are the, is the rot a little deeper than that?
85:08The rots a little deeper than that. And even with Penix who already didn't move well is now coming off the ACL
85:14that he's really hesitant, really hesitant to come back.
85:17Have you noticed that to a star practicing? Yeah.
85:19I've noticed. Thanks to appreciate you, bud. We could have used the last couple of weeks, but, but yeah, thanks.
85:25You're really helping us out here. Um, you know, the, the God, it's just like even passing game wise, that's exactly the
85:31issues we thought there's not a lot of secondary receivers outside Drake London.
85:34Uh, offensive line looks like it actually, it's not bad, but it regressed definitely a little bit.
85:39Um, with some of the stuff, especially in past protection, they had some issues picking up blitzes, which actually is interesting because
85:45this game, the Packers, Jonathan Gannon, um, I looked this up is blitzing at the highest rates of his career.
85:51They're like, he only called plays with the Eagles.
85:53He's, I think he called plays 30 X amount of times, 30 something times in his game, in two of the high
85:59six highest blitz rates he's ever had as a play caller was last week against the jets was the second highest.
86:05And the six highest was week one against the Vikings.
86:08So he's blitzing a ton. And actually the Packers defense is actually pretty decent.
86:11Um, way better than I thought. And, but what they're susceptible to is outside targets.
86:16All right. Well, Drake landed on the outside. Are we going to do that?
86:19Michael Panks likes to throw it to the outside.
86:22Like, so maybe we get some of that, but I just think this team is pretty bad right now because even their
86:28defense just doesn't have a lot of horses. AJ Terrell's out on top of that as well.
86:33So it's just kind of a zombie team right now.
86:35And Pennix doesn't have the play style I'd want to see against this defense.
86:39I would want a guy moving around, staying aggressive over the middle.
86:42Cause I think that's where you can attack it.
86:45Maybe some outside stuff, but it's like, he's not going to really do that.
86:49So that, and it's a short week for the whole team, not for him.
86:53Cause he's had some rest. Um, but it's a short week for that.
86:56So prep wise, it's going to be a little different too.
86:59Maybe they gave him the, they prepared before that.
87:02So I'm just kind of like a little pessimistic about how this will look, um, overall, because just his movements has always been an issue.
87:09And I think it might be even more of an issue as he's coming back from again, from another knee injury.
87:14Yeah. God. Other than that, how was the play Mrs.
87:17Lincoln? Yeah. So let's just say, I was not Mrs.
87:20Lincoln. How was the play? Uh, yeah. So where do we, where do we go from here?
87:24Okay. Okay. Here, here's, here's what I will say.
87:27Well, let me, let me just before, before you go full sicko mode, let me at least just say about Drake London.
87:33Um, when you, when you look at the, the last few years, like he has been very, very productive with Michael Penix on the field.
87:40Uh, like he, especially last season when Penix was on the field, he was really good.
87:44But since Penix got in the NFL 2.98 yards per route, uh, for, for Drake London, 33.5% targets per route.
87:50I mean, he will just, that's about it though.
87:52Nobody else really does anything. Uh, when you look at the, the, the production with Michael Penix and I mean, look where
87:58nobody's counting on John Dotson, other than like my sicko dreams.
88:01No one's counting on John Dotson, Kyle pits might still be in trouble.
88:051.2 yards per route with Michael Penix. He's never just consistent.
88:08Like he's never consistently got him the football. Really?
88:10It's been the Drake London show 80 catches for 1114 or 1147, eight touchdowns on 129 targets, 35% target share, 35% target
88:16share with Michael Penix to Drake London. So there is that like, he's been very productive.
88:21Um, what version of Michael Penix is this? I don't know when you mentioned like the out or the, the outside routes,
88:27I do think where Penix and London have had their best connection is on those big out cuts from the slot, especially, or as the condensed X.
88:34And at least last week we saw Drake London get into the slot for 42% of his passing plays.
88:39So again, if you were trying to paint the narrative for cope and hope with Drake London, the history does at least
88:46back you up with Penix being productive, uh, for, for Drake London here.
88:49God. Yeah. I know. I was just even looking at it as like year by year numbers.
88:54It's like gone from like a 29% target share to 21%.
88:57It's like, where's the ball going? Who else are you throwing into the door?
89:01It's going into the building everything out of this.
89:03It is. Oh, I know it was rough. I watched that game back.
89:07It was rough. Um, no, but it's, that's why I'm just, I agree with everything you say.
89:11That's the one way to attack this Packers defense.
89:14The outside corners aren't great. Do they have the creativity to get there?
89:17Is Penix going to be confident there is accuracy can be an issue.
89:21Think it's very boom bust as opposed to a peppering of PPR.
89:24You know, I don't think there's going to be that heavy receptions.
89:28It's going to be more chunky. So what you're saying with the out routes, that's, that's just how I envision it.
89:33Um, that's how I just picture how they're going to go against this defense as well.
89:38And again, it's, I'm curious how they're going to handle blitzes.
89:41Cause Jonathan Gannon's dialing up some interesting stuff and Penix doesn't handle that.
89:44And it turns him even more into a boom bust quarterback, not a peppering hot route kind of quarterback.
89:50So yeah, it might be Drake London, like three catches, 70 something yards, maybe a touchdown off of that.
89:55I know it's not really pessimistic about it, but it's, it's just that he's not really the play style I want to see right now.
90:02I mean, it, it is what it is. There's no really way to get all that excited about it.
90:07Uh, in terms of, uh, rushing numbers, uh, 15th and rushing success rate are the Falcons so far, which actually kind of
90:13is a miracle considering how bad the team has been.
90:16Um, 12th best stuff rate. Uh, yeah, I mean, look, uh, seventh and yards after contact, uh, B John's awesome.
90:21B John 20% targets per route with Michael Penix.
90:24I, there's enough that you can play these guys.
90:26I think this week, like you can play Michael Penix, you can play B John Robinson.
90:30That's great. On the other side of it. I mean, pretty much the Packers have become a three man show too.
90:36Um, with Jordan love, Matthew golden, Christian Watson. Those guys are both in the top 20, uh, Watson and golden in targets per route.
90:43Golden's been impressive to me. Watson obviously is really good.
90:46Um, your boy, Tucker, our boy, Tucker craft. Like we love Tucker craft.
90:49This is one of the most pro Tucker craft podcasts out there.
90:52I'm a little nervous that they're talking about like, uh, was Dan Graziano had the report that they wanted to like maybe play on the offensive line.
91:00Cause that's all banged up there. There are on the offensive line.
91:03That part is probably, you know, Zach's way, like being out for the season, you know, is Tucker craft going to block more.
91:09That makes me a little nervous about craft. He's probably still like eventually going to get it going from a fantasy standpoint.
91:16But like, we know what the, like the Packers are very much a boom bust offense now at this point, Nate.
91:21Yep. Yep. And also it's the bike, but also they're going against this Falcon defense without AJ Terrell.
91:26Uh, you know, so it's, it's, I do think it's, they're going to be a more pass heavy.
91:31I think what they've used with Josh Jacobs is that that run game is a jab.
91:36It wasn't very explosive, but it was setting them up for a lot of third and shorts.
91:40And then Jordan love would work his magic. That was their formula.
91:44Their formula is totally different. Now the formula is that we're going to use the past to set up the past.
91:49And then we sprinkle on some rods. Caleb Johnson though, uh, is alive.
91:53Uh, and again, I, I, I watched those plays back and I watched this game back right before we did the show.
91:59And it's like, you know, he's not the sexiest runner, but there's some, there's some stuff for him.
92:04It's better. It's a better offense for his running style than, uh, you know, who else they have in their Marshawn Lloyd and Brooks.
92:10It's over for Marshawn Lloyd. Yeah. Yeah. He's missing too much.
92:14It's over for Marshawn Lloyd. And they're, they tried to get Caleb Johnson going to your point.
92:18Like he's a better get on base runner. I know you have a prop on, on Caleb Johnson.
92:23So let's, let's hear your, your props before we close it out here.
92:27Yep. Caleb Johnson, anytime TD score. I think this Falcons, uh, uh, uh, defense is very getable.
92:31I love this. I think you can run on them and I think you can throw on them.
92:36So, and now that AJ Terrell's out, I can think you can throw on them even more.
92:41Uh, and so maybe it turns into a blitz fest.
92:44So there might be a screen in there. That's how, um, was it Lloyd that scored his touch?
92:49And the Packers score a touchdown on a running back screen.
92:52That was really nice. Uh, and again, so that's viable.
92:54So he might be in within 10 year line.
92:57I think that he's going to get a decent amount of touches in this game, especially if they can build a lead.
93:03So anytime touchdown score, Caleb Johnson at plus one 95, Christian Watson, 75 yards or more at plus one 10, uh, because
93:09I do think there's going to be some chunks available.
93:12Just like we talked about Tetravo McGill and the general Coker Christian, Christian Watson is that archetype.
93:16There's throws available over the middle. There's throws available to the outside.
93:20Just a couple of chunks. Maybe he rips one off.
93:22He looks great right now. Uh, I, he looks great.
93:25And I'd rather kind of just wager on him than golden who they are getting going and they're expanding his role.
93:31Um, but again, I was just like Watson. I kind of trust more at this point in time, but no golden, he
93:37had a drop early, but you can tell they're asking him to do more real things.
93:41Um, and then I did have Bajon Robinson 50 or more yards receiving.
93:45Cause I can see Penix going touchdown to check down.
93:48I can see them running screens against that check.
93:50Those, uh, blitzes that Gann's going to be running also just kind of like, Hey, let's get Penix going a little bit.
93:56So 50 yards receiving. And I could see maybe they'd lose the game script and then, all right, we've got to check it down.
94:03Check it down to Bajon. All right. Okay. Maybe he can turn one to something.
94:07So, and then my real sicko one, the real sicko one.
94:10And this is one of my favorite angles. Always Mark Redman who, but Mark Redman, the backup tight end for the Packers
94:16that they are giving a ton of reps to and really having him at the point of attack and blocking.
94:22They finally set them up for a little play action in the red zone.
94:25First TD score plus 6,600. If you really just want to pull up $10 on there, have a little fun, $20 on there.
94:32Have a little fun. They are giving him a ton of reps.
94:35This is an offense. Again, I think Jane reads out.
94:38So, okay. We might lean into 12. Tucker craft's a good blocker.
94:41Redman's a good blocker, but we always, you know, and I could see them setting up finally.
94:46Hey, we get them a target here on a play action or something in the low red zone.
94:51So real sicko one, Mark Redman, first TD score plus 6,600.
94:54I'm already going bombs now. That's, that's a, yeah, I did two, two TDs.
94:58Josh Allen last week hit that one. I hit nothing else on this prop section.
95:02So we're just going bombs away now. Listen, you started sick with Caleb Johnson.
95:05Anytime touchdown, you, you ended sickest with the Mark Redman first touchdown score.
95:09So that's why we love you, Nate. And yeah, it's going to be a really fascinating game to watch.
95:14We do need to learn a lot about the Falcons offense.
95:17And I do think the Packers man, like heavy personnel, explosive routes to Christian Watson.
95:21They're set up well to take advantage of a lot of what Carolina did in week number two.
95:26So I think the Packers will be in for a pretty good fantasy outing here in this one.
95:31Okay. That is going to do it for this show here today.
95:35Nate Tice. Absolutely fantastic. This was a really fun one.
95:37We took a deep look at some of these offenses.
95:40I love doing this stuff. So absolutely fantastic. This show will be back tomorrow.
95:44However, bad news or maybe good news, depending on how you feel about me.
95:48I'm not going to be here. Justin Boone is going to be back.
95:51He's going to be hosting the show. He's going to be filling in for me with Josh Norris on the week three preview.
95:58I will also not be a part of the recap show as well on Sunday.
96:02However, I probably will be joining you guys for the solo Sunday night football recap.
96:06Listen, I love this show. I want to be on the show all the time.
96:10One of my wife's best friends is getting married this weekend.
96:13So, you know, she's in the wedding. There's no I got to I got to be there.
96:18All right. So not going to be part of the preview.
96:21Not going to be part of the recap. But I should be back in time for the sicko solo Sunday night recap.
96:27So I will see you all then. But be here tomorrow 4 p.m.
96:30Eastern with Josh and Boone. If you're not, you hurt my feelings.
96:34Okay. So there you go. That is all for us.
96:36We will see you then be here tomorrow. Until then, we are out.
